रूपक – 4 - प्रभु की देह
जैसा कि हम पहले के लेखों में देख चुके हैं, प्रत्येक नया जन्म पाए हुए मसीही विश्वासी को, परमेश्वर उद्धार के साथ ही, स्वतः ही अन्य काई विशेषाधिकार और ज़िम्मेदारियाँ भी दे देता है। परमेश्वर के द्वारा उसे दी गई इन बातों के सही निर्वाह के लिए, उसे उन बातों के बारे में सीखना चाहिए, क्योंकि वह उनके लिये परमेश्वर को जवाबदेह भी है; वह परमेश्वर के लिये उनका भण्डारी है। परमेश्वर द्वारा उसे दिये गये इन विशेषाधिकारों और ज़िम्मेदारियों में से एक है परमेश्वर के परिवार - विश्वव्यापी सार्वभौमिक एक्कलेसिया/Ekklesia, अर्थात् कलीसिया का एक सदस्य होना। इसीलिए हम परमेश्वर की कलीसिया और परमेश्वर के परिवार में, जहाँ परमेश्वर ने विश्वासी को रखा है, परमेश्वर की अन्य सन्तानों के साथ सहभागिता के बारे में, बाइबल में कलीसिया के लिए उपयोग किये गए सात रूपकों की सूची से सीख रहे हैं। अभी तक पिछले लेखों में हम पहले तीन रूपकों को देख चुके हैं। आज हम इस सूची के चौथे रूपक, कलीसिया के प्रभु की देह होने के संबंध में देखेंगे।
(4) प्रभु की देह
परमेश्वर के वचन बाइबल में कलीसिया को प्रभु यीशु की देह भी कहा गया है। इस रूपक से संबंधित बाइबल के कुछ वचनों पर ध्यान कीजिए:
“क्योंकि जैसे हमारी एक देह में बहुत से अंग हैं, और सब अंगों का एक ही सा काम नहीं। वैसा ही हम जो बहुत हैं, मसीह में एक देह हो कर आपस में एक दूसरे के अंग हैं” (रोमियों 12:4-5)।
“इसी प्रकार तुम सब मिल कर मसीह की देह हो, और अलग अलग उसके अंग हो” (1 कुरिन्थियों 12:27); देखें 1 कुरिन्थियों 12:12-27।
“और उसने कितनों को भविष्यद्वक्ता नियुक्त कर के, और कितनों को सुसमाचार सुनाने वाले नियुक्त कर के, और कितनों को रखवाले और उपदेशक नियुक्त कर के दे दिया। जिस से पवित्र लोग सिद्ध हों जाएं, और सेवा का काम किया जाए, और मसीह की देह उन्नति पाए” (इफिसियों 4:11-12)।
“क्योंकि पति पत्नी का सिर है जैसे कि मसीह कलीसिया का सिर है; और आप ही देह का उद्धारकर्ता है” (इफिसियों 5:23)।
“इसलिये कि हम उस की देह के अंग हैं” (इफिसियों 5:30)।
बाइबल में प्रभु की कलीसिया को, अर्थात उसके प्रति सच्चा समर्पण करके, उसे अपना उद्धारकर्ता और प्रभु स्वीकार करने वाले लोगों को प्रभु यीशु की देह, और प्रभु यीशु को उस देह का सिर कहा गया है। एक देह के साथ एक ही सिर होता है; और एक सिर के साथ एक ही देह होती है। यदि किसी कारण से देह के साथ एक से अधिक सिर हों, या सिर के साथ एक से अधिक देह हों, तो वह असामान्य, विकृत, और ठीक से कार्य न कर पाने वाला हो जाता है। इस रूपक के द्वारा संसार भर के सभी मसीही विश्वासियों को कुल मिलाकर, एक साथ मिलकर, प्रभु की एक देह के विभिन्न अंग बताया गया है। देह में प्रत्येक अंग की अलग-अलग स्थिति होती है, भिन्न स्वरूप होता है, भिन्न कार्य, भिन्न कार्य कुशलता, भिन्न कार्य क्षमता, भिन्न ‘स्वभाव’, आदि होते हैं। किन्तु देह उन सभी अंगों के एक साथ गठित होने और मिलकर कार्य करने से ही पूर्ण होती है।
कोई भी अंग अपनी स्थिति अथवा कार्य, व्यवहार, या उपयोगिता स्वयं निर्धारित नहीं कर सकता है। जैसा जिस अंग को परमेश्वर ने बनाया है, जहाँ रखा है, और जो कार्य उसे सौंपा है, उसे वहीं पर उसे ही करना होता है। सभी अंगों को एक-दूसरे का सहायक और पूरक होकर देह में एक साथ मिलकर कार्य करना होता है। यदि एक अंग अस्वस्थ होता है तो उसका दुष्प्रभाव सारी देह पर आता है और सारी देह दुखी होती है; यदि एक अंग ठीक से कार्य नहीं करता है तो सारी देह के कार्य पर प्रतिकूल प्रभाव पड़ता है। अन्ततः, सभी अंग सिर के द्वारा संचालित और नियंत्रित किए जाते हैं। यदि किसी अंग का सिर के साथ संबंध ठीक न हो, या बाधित हो जाए, या टूट जाए, तो फिर वह अंग ठीक से कार्य नहीं करने पाता है, निर्बल, सुन्न, या मृतक समान हो जाता है। ऐसी स्थिति में यद्यपि वह देह के साथ जुड़ा हुआ तो है, किन्तु देह के लिए उपयोगी नहीं है, वरन देह के लिए कष्ट उत्पन्न करने वाला और उसके कार्यों को बाधित करने वाला हो जाता है।
यही स्थिति प्रभु की देह, उसकी कलीसिया में भी है, और इसे परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा ने 1 कुरिन्थियों 12:12-27 में बड़ी स्पष्टता से समझाया है; और रोमियों 12:6-8 में कलीसिया के प्रत्येक भाग और सदस्य से आग्रह किया गया है कि वह अपने आत्मिक वरदान के द्वारा अपने कार्य को सुचारु रीति से करे। जब प्रभु के द्वारा अपनी-अपनी विशिष्ट स्थिति और सेवकाई में स्थापित लोग, ठीक से अपने दायित्वों का निर्वाह करते हैं, तो पवित्र लोग सिद्ध होते हैं, सेवा का काम उचित और कुशल रीति से किया जाता है, और मसीह की देह अर्थात उसकी कलीसिया उन्नति पाती है (इफिसियों 4:11-12)।
किन्तु हर किसी को प्रभु को अपना “सिर” स्वीकार करके, उसकी अधीनता में ही अपनी सेवकाई के कार्यों को करना होता है, क्योंकि वचन में लिखा है कि वही “कलीसिया का सिर है; और आप ही देह का उद्धारकर्ता है” (इफिसियों 5:23)। यह इस बात को बिलकुल स्पष्ट और प्रकट कर देता है कि प्रभु की कलीसिया, अर्थात उसका प्रत्येक सदस्य, प्रभु ही के निर्देशों के अनुसार, उसकी अधीनता और आज्ञाकारिता में ही कार्य करेगा। प्रभु विश्वासी को, उसके काम और सेवकाई के लिए, जिस भी स्थानीय कलीसिया में रखे; और जब भी, जहाँ भी, तथा जिस भी काम के लिए प्रभु उस से कहे, विश्वासी को वही करना है। जिस भी कलीसिया में प्रभु द्वारा उसके वचन में दिए गए निर्देशों और नियमों के स्थान पर, ‘कलीसिया’ के लोगों के कार्यों और दायित्वों आदि के निर्वाह के लिए, किसी समुदाय या डिनॉमिनेशन ने अपने ही नियम और कार्य-विधि बना लिए हैं; और जहाँ भी परमेश्वर के वचन बाइबल के स्थान पर मनुष्यों द्वारा गढ़े गए नियमों, विधियों, परंपराओं आदि को प्राथमिकता दी जाती है, उनके आधार पर किसी के ‘कलीसिया’ में कार्य करने अथवा सम्मिलित होने या न होने का निर्धारण किया जाता है, उनके अनुसार व्यक्ति को जाँचा जाता है, आदि, तो वह फिर प्रभु यीशु की कलीसिया नहीं रह जाती है - एक देह के एक से अधिक सिर नहीं हो सकते हैं।
जिस कलीसिया का, जिस देह का सिर, अर्थात उसे नियंत्रित और संचालित करने वाला प्रभु यीशु नहीं है, वह देह सही ‘सिर’ अर्थात् प्रभु के साथ जुड़ी हुई भी नहीं है। वह कहने को ‘प्रभु की कलीसिया’ हो सकती है, किन्तु उसका वास्तविक ‘प्रभु’ यीशु मसीह नहीं वरन कोई मनुष्य या मानवीय संस्था है। जो ‘कलीसिया’ प्रभु के वचन के अनुसार, और परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा के चलाए नहीं चलती है, वह वास्तविकता में प्रभु की अधीनता में भी नहीं है, प्रभु यीशु की कदापि नहीं है। ऐसी किसी भी ‘कलीसिया’ को इफिसियों 5:23 के अंतिम वाक्यांश के अनुसार अपने आप को बारीकी से जाँच-परख कर पुष्टि करने की आवश्यकता है। प्रत्येक कलीसिया को यह जाँचना और परखना है कि क्या उस ‘कलीसिया’ के सदस्य वास्तव में प्रभु के लोग हैं कि नहीं? उन का उद्धार हुआ भी है कि नहीं? क्या वे वास्तव में नया-जन्म पाए हुए प्रभु के प्रति समर्पित लोग हैं? क्या वास्तव में प्रभु यीशु उनका प्रभु और उद्धारकर्ता है? कहीं ऐसा न हो कि वे एक भ्रम में ही जीवन जीते रहें, और जब तक वास्तविकता को पहचानें, उसे सुधार पाने के समय और अवसर से चूक जाएं और अनन्त विनाश में चले जाएं।
प्रभु यीशु अपने सच्चे विश्वासियों अपनी वास्तविक कलीसिया को अपनी अधीनता में, अपने नियंत्रण में निरंतर बनाए रखता है, जिससे कि कलीसिया अपने लिए आशीष का और प्रभु की महिमा तथा आदर का कारण ठहरे। कलीसिया के इस प्रकार से प्रभु की देह के समान प्रभु के नीचे और नियंत्रण में रहने के कारण वह किसी भी प्रकार से शैतान की अधीनता और नियंत्रण में जाने से सुरक्षित रहती है। जो प्रभु की अधीनता और नियंत्रण में रहकर जीवन व्यतीत करेंगे, वे कलीसिया के अन्य लोगों के साथ मिलकर उनके साथ सहयोगी होकर, सामंजस्य से और उनके साथ एक मन होकर अपनी मसीही सेवकाई का निर्वाह करेंगे, वे अपने मसीही जीवन में स्वयं भी उन्नति करने पाएंगे, साथ ही कलीसिया भी उन्नति करने पाएगी, और प्रभु यीशु की भी महिमा होगी।
यदि आप एक मसीही विश्वासी हैं तो, कृपया सुनिश्चित कर लीजिए कि क्या आप प्रभु की कलीसिया, उसकी देह के एक अंग के समान, प्रभु की अधीनता और उसी की आज्ञाकारिता में, अपने निर्धारित कार्य और सेवकाई को ठीक से निभा रहे हैं? क्या प्रभु आप के कार्य, जीवन, और व्यवहार से प्रसन्न है? कहीं आपके जीवन और व्यवहार से प्रभु की देह दुखी, और प्रभु का कार्य बाधित तो नहीं हो रहा है? जाँच और पहचान लीजिए कि आपका “सिर” कौन है? अर्थात, क्या आप प्रभु के वचन और निर्देशों के अनुसार, प्रभु की कलीसिया में रहते हुए कार्य करते हैं, या आप किसी मानवीय संस्था या डिनॉमिनेशन और उसके नियमों की अधीनता में होकर, प्रभु के वचन से भिन्न निर्देशों के अनुसार कार्य करते हैं? क्योंकि तब, यद्यपि आप प्रभु के नाम में तो कार्य कर रहे होंगे, परन्तु वास्तव में आप प्रभु परमेश्वर के निर्देशों और आज्ञाओं के बाहर कार्य करने वाले होंगे।
यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। स्वेच्छा से अपने पापों के लिये पश्चाताप करके, प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु, मैं अपने पापों के लिए पश्चातापी हूँ, उनके लिए आप से क्षमा माँगता हूँ। मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मुझे और मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

Metaphor – 4 - The Body of Christ
As we have seen in the earlier articles, to every Born-Again Christian Believer, God automatically gives many privileges and responsibilities. To properly utilize the things God has given him, he must learn about them, since he is accountable to God for them; he is God’s steward for them. One of the privileges and responsibilities given by God is to be a part of God’s family - the worldwide universal Ekklesia or the Church of God. For this we are learning about God’s Church, and the fellowship of God’s other children in the family of God, in which God has placed the Believer, through the various metaphors used in the Bible for God’s Church. From the list of seven metaphors, so far we have considered the first three metaphors in the previous articles. Today we will consider the fourth metaphor, the Church being the Body of Christ.
(4) The Body of Christ
In the Word of God, the Church has also been called the Body of the Lord Jesus Christ. Consider some verses related to this metaphor from the Bible:
“For as we have many members in one body, but all the members do not have the same function, so we, being many, are one body in Christ, and individually members of one another” (Romans 12:4-5).
“Now you are the body of Christ, and members individually” (1 Corinthians 12:27); see 1 Corinthians 12:12-27.
“And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ” (Ephesians 4:11-12).
“For the husband is head of the wife, as also Christ is head of the church; and He is the Savior of the body” (Ephesians 5:23).
“For we are members of His body, of His flesh and of His bones” (Ephesians 5:30).
In the Bible, the Lord’s Church, i.e., those who have honestly accepted Him as their savior and Lord and are truly committed and submitted to Him, have also been called the “Body of Christ” and the Lord Jesus has been called the ‘Head’ of that body. A body has only one single head; and a head has one single body with it. If, for any reason, one body has more than one head attached, or one head has more than one body attached, then it is an unnatural, deformed condition, and neither the head nor the body can function well in this grotesque state. In this metaphor, all the Christian Believers, all over the world, have collectively and together been addressed as organs and parts of the one body of the Lord Jesus Christ. In the body every organ, every part has its own location, place, appearance, role, and function. Each part or organ has its own way of working, its own ability, its own capacity, its own ‘nature.’ But it is only because all these various parts and organs stay and work together, helping each other, that the body is able to function and carry out its work properly.
No organ can decide its location, function, ’nature,’ or utility. As God has made every part and organ, and placed it, so it has to stay and function. Every part and organ supplements and complements the others. If any one part or organ is diseased, or is unable to function optimally, then it adversely affects the functioning of the whole body. The overall control of the working and functioning of every part and organ is with the ‘head’. In our physical bodies if the connection of any part or organ, with the head, is not proper, or has been obstructed or broken, then that part or organ is unable to function properly; it may even become paralyzed, or insensitive, or numb and non-functional. In such a situation, though it is joined with the body, but it is no longer of any use for the body; rather, it will be a cause for pain and problems for the body, it will impede and obstruct the rest of the body from functioning well.
The same condition can, and does exist in the Church, the body of Christ, and God the Holy Spirit has very clearly talked about and explained it in 1 Corinthians 12:12-27; and in Romans 12:6-8 every part and member of the body has been requested to carry out its work diligently with the help of the Spiritual gifts given to it. When the people appointed by the Lord God in specific positions with particular responsibilities carry out their ministries properly, then the saints, i.e., the people of God, are perfected, ministries are carried out in a worthy manner, and the Church is edified (Ephesians 4:11-12).
But the pre-requisite is that everyone has to recognize and accept the Lord Jesus as his ‘head’, and function under His control and instructions, since it is written in the Word of God “Christ is head of the church; and He is the Savior of the body” (Ephesians 5:23). This statement makes it very clear that the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ, i.e., its every member, will work and function according to the instructions of the Lord Jesus, under Him, being obedient to Him. In whichever local church the Lord places the Believer for his work and ministry; and wherever, whenever, and for whatever the Lord instructs him to function, the Believer has to do as instructed by the Lord. If in any church, the instructions and commandments of the Lord have been replaced or superseded by the rules, regulations, traditions etc. decided by men; and then on the basis of such humanly contrived set of rules and regulations, people are made members of the church, are assigned their place and work, are evaluated, etc., then that ‘church’ is no longer the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ - one body cannot have more than one head.
The ‘church’ that does not have the Lord Jesus as its Head; the ‘church’ that is not functioning under the control and directions of the Lord Jesus, then that ‘body’ is not joined to the proper ‘head’ - the Lord Jesus. It may be the Lord’s Church for namesake, but its actual lord is not Christ Jesus, but some person or human institution. Any ‘church’ not working according to the Word of God and the guidance of the Holy Spirit, cannot be under the control of the Lord Jesus, cannot ever actually be His Church. Every such ‘church’ needs to carefully and minutely examine everything to affirm that it is standing true to Ephesians 5:23. Every ‘church’ needs to evaluate whether its members are actually the people of the Lord? Whether or not they actually have been saved? Whether they are the Lord’s committed Born-Again Believers or not? Is the Lord Jesus truly their Lord and Savior or not? It should not be that they continue to live in a deception, and by the time they come to realize the truth, the time and opportunity to rectify the situation is no more, and they are doomed to eternal destruction.
The Lord Jesus Christ keeps His Church under His care, supervision, and control at all times, so His Church brings blessings and benefits to its members and glory to the Lord God. Because of their being under the care, supervision, and control of the Lord, the Church and its members remain safe and secure from the tricks and manipulation by Satan to control it. Those who function under the control of the Lord Jesus, will also work along with the other members harmoniously, carry out their ministries in unity; thereby they will benefit, the Church will be edified, and the Lord God will be glorified.
If you are a Christian Believer, then please do ensure that you are also fulfilling your assigned work and ministry as a member of the Church of the Lord, in obedience to and under the directions of the Lord. Make sure that the Lord Jesus is pleased with your work, life, and behavior; and that you are not in any way impeding or obstructing the work of the Church, and are not causing problems for it. Evaluate and see, who is the ‘head’ that instructs and controls you. In other words, are you really living and functioning as per the Word of God in the local Church that you are; or are you working under the directions and control of a human institution or denomination? Since then, although you may be working in the name of the Lord, but actually you will be outside the instructions and commandments of the Lord God.
If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord, make your decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now to ensure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Repenting of your sins, and asking the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily and sincerely, surrendering yourself to Him - is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life. Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.
