पुनःअवलोकन: हमने पिछले दो प्रस्तावना के लेखों में देखा है कि परमेश्वर का चुना हुआ होना सुलैमान के लिए इस बात की कोई निश्चितता नहीं था कि उसके लिए जीवन सहज होगा। वरन, इस्राएल का राजा होने की परमेश्वर द्वारा उसे दी गई ज़िम्मेदारी का निर्वाह करने में समस्याओं और परिस्थितियों का सामना तो उसे करना ही था। साथ ही दाऊद द्वारा उससे कही गयी बात में निहितार्थ था कि अपनी सुरक्षा और बचाव के लिए, उसे दाऊद द्वारा खड़ी की गई विशाल सेना पर नहीं, वरन परमेश्वर पर भरोसा रखना होगा, उसका आज्ञाकारी रहना होगा, और ऐसा ही करने से वह आशीषित एवं सफल भी होगा।

दाऊद, 1 राजाओं 2:2-4 में, सुलैमान को निर्देश देता है कि वह किस प्रकार से परमेश्वर की दृष्टि में सही, तथा परमेश्वर द्वारा दी गई सामर्थ्य, बुद्धिमानी, और मार्गदर्शन के द्वारा आशीषित एवं सफल हो सकता है। इसके लिए उसे इन चार बातों का पालन करना होगा, जिनकी रूप रेखा 1 राजाओं 2:2-4 में दी गई है:

1.   “तू हियाव बांधकर पुरुषार्थ दिखा” (1 राजाओं 2:2)

2.   “जो कुछ तेरे परमेश्वर यहोवा ने तुझे सौंपा है, उसकी रक्षा कर”; अर्थात्, वह, परमेश्वर द्वारा उसी सौंपी गई बातों का एक अच्छा भण्डारी बने (1 राजाओं 2:3a)

3.   जितनी बातें परमेश्वर के वचन में लिखी हैं, वह उनका आज्ञाकारी बना रहे (1 राजाओं 2:3b)

4.   वह सावधान रहे, और हमेशा प्रभु के प्रति समर्पित बना रहे (1 राजाओं 2:4)

 

जैसे सुलैमान बातों के बारे में अपनी कल्पना के अनुसार नहीं चल सकता था, और न ही किसी भी बात को यूँ ही हलके में नहीं ले सकता था, ठीक उसी तरह से मसीही विश्वासी भी बातों को अपनी कल्पना के अनुसार नहीं ले सकते हैं, और न ही अपने मसीही जीवन और ज़िम्मेदारियों को हलके में ले सकते हैं। जो 4 निर्देश सुलैमान के लिए थे, वही प्रत्येक मसीही विश्वासी के लिए भी लागू होते हैं। उनके पालन करने से ही वे अपने मसीही जीवनों में आशीषित एवं सफल तथा परमेश्वर की आशीषों के भागीदार हो सकते हैं, विशेषकर इन अन्त के दिनों में, जब शैतानी शक्तियाँ हम पर, हमारे जीवन के सभी पक्षों पर निरंतर विभिन्न तरह से हमले करने में लगी हुई हैं।

हम एक समर्पित मसीही जीवन जीने के लिए तथा परमेश्वर द्वारा हमें दी गयी ज़िम्मेदारियों का निर्वाह करने के लिए इन 4 सिद्धान्तों का उपयोग सीखेंगे। इससे हम हमारे उद्धारकर्ता प्रभु यीशु में लाए गए विश्वास के कारण, हमें परमेश्वर के अनुग्रह से मिले उद्धार के जीवन को, परमेश्वर की महिमा तथा अपनी आशीषों के लिए जी सकेंगे। आगे आने वाले लेखों में हम इन चारों में से प्रत्येक निर्देश के साथ जुड़ी हुई विभिन्न बातों की जांच करेंगे, यह देखने के लिए कि क्या हम उनके बारे में बाइबल की शिक्षाओं के अनुसार समझ-बूझ रखते हैं या नहीं; और यदि नहीं, तो इन में से प्रत्येक निर्देश से संबंधित बाइबल की शिक्षाओं को सीख कर अपनी गलतियों को सुधार लें।

  

यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। स्वेच्छा से अपने पापों के लिये पश्चाताप करके, प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु, मैं अपने पापों के लिए पश्चातापी हूँ, उनके लिए आप से क्षमा माँगता हूँ। मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मुझे और मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

Outline of Instructions

Review: We have seen in the previous two Introductory articles that being the chosen one of God was no guarantee of an easy life for Solomon. Rather, he was bound to face problems and situations in fulfilling his God assigned responsibility of being the King of Israel. David also implies to Solomon that for his safety and security, he should not rely upon the huge army that David had amassed; rather he must only rely upon God, be obedient to Him, which would also make him blessed and successful.

In 1 Kings 2:2-4, David instructs Solomon on how to be right with God and be blessed and successful through the strength, wisdom, and guidance of God. For this to happen, he has to do the following 4 things that have been outlined in 1 Kings 2:2-4:

1.   To "be strong and prove yourself a man" (1Ki 2:2).

2.   To "keep the charge of the Lord God", i.e., to be a good Steward of whatever God has given to him (1Ki 2:3a).

3.   To be obedient to the Word of God, in all things written in it. (1Ki 2:3b).

4.   To be careful, taking heed, to remain sincere and committed to the Lord always (1Ki 2:4b).

Just as Solomon could not assume things, nor take anything for granted, similarly we Christian Believers cannot assume anything, nor take our Christian life and responsibilities for granted. The same 4 instructions that were for Solomon, also apply to every Christian Believer. Only by obeying them can they be blessed and successful in their Christian lives and be partakers of God's blessings, particularly in these end times when we are facing the relentless attacks of satanic forces in various ways and in every aspect of our lives.

We will use these 4 principles to learn about living a committed Christian life, and fulfilling our God given responsibilities. Through this we will be able to live this life that we have received through the grace of God by coming to faith in the Lord Jesus as our Redeemer and Savior, in a manner that glorifies God, and brings blessings to our lives. In our study in the coming articles, we will examine and look into various aspects associated with each of these 4 instructions, to see if we have a Biblical understanding about them or not; and if not, then to rectify our errors by learning the Biblical teachings about each of these instructions.

If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord, make your decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now to ensure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Repenting of your sins, and asking the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily and sincerely, surrendering yourself to Him - is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life.  Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.

    पिछले लेख में हमने 1 कुरिन्थियों 10:17 में दिए गए प्रभु भोज में भाग लेने के दो तात्पर्यों में से दूसरे तात्पर्य, अर्थात, एकता में रहने के बारे में देखना आरम्भ किया था। हमने देखा था कि इस बात को विभिन्न तरीकों से कैसे व्यक्त किया गया है, और इसका उदाहरण असंभव प्रतीत होने वाला कार्य – यहूदियों और अन्य-जातियों का प्रभु यीशु में विश्वास के द्वारा प्रभु की एक देह बन जाना है। कलीसिया में इस एकता को बनाए रखना वैकल्पिक नहीं है, बल्कि इसे प्रभु ने हर उस जन के लिये अनिवार्य बनाया है जो अपने आप को मसीही विश्वासी कहता है। प्रभु भोज में भाग लेने के द्वारा विश्वासी, अपनी इस प्रतिबद्धता की पुष्टि करता है, वह इसे हल्के में नहीं ले सकता है, और वह इसके लिए उत्तरदायी होगा। आज हम इस बात को और आगे देखेंगे।

    नए नियम में, मसीही विश्वासियों की इस एकता पर हमेशा ही बहुत बल दिया गया है, और इसे सर्वाधिक महत्व की बात दिखाया गया है, क्योंकि इसी में कलीसिया की सामर्थ्य, शक्ति, और योग्यता है (मत्ती 18:19-20)। इसीलिए शैतान हमेशा ही, किसी न किसी रीति से, एकता को भंग करने के प्रयास करता है; और प्रभु की बातों की बजाए, मनुष्यों द्वारा निर्धारित बातों का पालन करवाने के द्वारा कलीसिया को विभिन्न डिनॉमिनेशनों, मतों, और समुदायों में विभाजित करने के द्वारा काफी हद तक सफल भी हो गया है। किन्तु प्रभु यीशु मसीह ने प्रभु भोज के द्वारा, मसीही विश्वासियों के लिए यह अनिवार्य कर दिया है कि वे मिल-जुल कर एकता में रहें। बजाए इसके कि एक दूसरे से अलग होकर और पृथक गुट बनाकर रहें, परस्पर खड़ी हुई दीवारों को बना कर रखने के लिये कार्य करते रहें, व्यर्थ की अहं की बातों के निर्वाह के द्वारा शैतान को हमें और भी विभाजित करने के अवसर देते रहें। प्रभु यीशु मसीह के विश्वासी होने के नाते यह हमारी जिम्मेदारी है कि हम इस एकता के लिए प्रयास करें और उसे बना कर रखें। क्योंकि अन्ततः एक दिन हम इसके लिए प्रभु को जवाबदेह भी होंगे, नहीं बनाए रखने का उत्तर भी देना होगा। आज कलीसिया में मेल करवाने वालों (मत्ती 5:9) की बहुत आवश्यकता है, जिससे कि वह शैतान की युक्तियों के सामने स्थिर खड़ी रह सके, और शैतानी शक्तियों पर जयवन्त जीवन को दिखा सके।

    जैसे कि प्रभु भोज में भाग लेने वाले इस अभिप्राय की पुष्टि करते हैं और उसे दोहराते हैं कि वे प्रभु यीशु के साथ निकट संगति और सहभागिता में रहते हैं; उसी प्रकार से, प्रभु भोज में भाग लेते समय वे इस बात की भी पुष्टि करते हैं और उसे दोहराते हैं कि वे प्रभु की देह – उसकी कलीसिया के अन्य सदस्यों के साथ एकता में भी रहते हैं। इन अंत के दिनों में, हमारे विश्वास में स्थिर खड़े रहने तथा अपनी गवाही के प्रति सच्चे और खरे होने के लिए यह एकता बहुत आवश्यक है, अनिवार्य है।

    यदि आप एक मसीही विश्वासी हैं, और प्रभु की मेज़ में भाग लेते रहे हैं, तो कृपया अपने जीवन को जाँच कर देख लें कि आप वास्तव में पापों से छुड़ाए गए हैं तथा आप ने अपना जीवन प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता में जीने के लिए उस को समर्पित किया है। आपके लिए यह अनिवार्य है कि आप परमेश्वर के वचन की सही शिक्षाओं को जानने के द्वारा एक परिपक्व विश्वासी बनें, तथा सभी शिक्षाओं को वचन की कसौटी पर परखने, और बेरिया के विश्वासियों के समान, लोगों की बातों को पहले वचन से जाँचने और उनकी सत्यता को निश्चित करने के बाद ही उनको स्वीकार करने और मानने वाले बनें (प्रेरितों 17:11; 1 थिस्सलुनीकियों 5:21)। अन्यथा शैतान द्वारा छोड़े हुए झूठे प्रेरित और भविष्यद्वक्ता मसीह के सेवक बन कर (2 कुरिन्थियों 11:13-15) अपनी ठग विद्या और चतुराई से आपको प्रभु के लिए अप्रभावी कर देंगे और आप के मसीही जीवन एवं आशीषों का नाश कर देंगे।

Implications of Participation (4)

    In the previous article we had begun to consider the second of the two implications of participating in the Holy Communion, given in 1 Corinthians 10:17, i.e., living in unity. We had seen how this has been stated in various ways, and has been exemplified by the seemingly impossible act of Jews and Gentiles being united as one body of the Lord, through faith in the Lord Jesus. Maintaining this unity in the Church is not an option, but is something that has been made compulsory by the Lord for everyone who claims to be His Believer. The participation in the Holy Communion is an affirmation of this committent by the Believer, cannot be taken lightly, and he will be held accountable for it. Today we will consider this further.

    In the New Testament, this unity of the Christian Believers has always been strongly emphasized upon, and considered to be of paramount importance, because in this unity is the strength, power, and capability of the Church (Matthew 18:19-20). Therefore, Satan always tries to disrupt this unity, one way or another; and has largely been successful in this by dividing the Church into denominations, sects, and groups through obeying and following man-made things, instead of obeying and following God’s Word. But the Lord Jesus, through the Holy Communion has made it imperative for the Believers to live in unity. Instead of looking for ways and excuses of separating and segregating ourselves from each other, of working to keep our mutual barriers intact, of letting Satan divide us even further through petty ego issues. As Believers in the Lord Jesus, it is our responsibility, that we strive for and maintain this unity; for eventually we will be accountable to the Lord for not maintaining it. The Church today is sorely in need of the peacemakers (Matthew 5:9), so it can stand up to the wiles of the devil and demonstrate a life victorious over the satanic forces.

    Just as through the Holy Communion, the participants affirm and renew their commitment to being in close fellowship with the Lord and living accordingly; similarly, while participating in the Holy Communion they also affirm and renew their commitment of living in unity with the other members of the body of Christ – His Church. It is the urgent need of the hour that we be true to this commitment, to be able to stand firm in our Faith and true to our witness in these end times.

    If you are a Christian Believer and have been participating in the Lord’s Table, then please examine your life and make sure that you are actually a disciple of the Lord, i.e., are redeemed from your sins, have submitted and surrendered your life to the Lord Jesus to live in obedience to Him and His Word. You should also always, like the Berean Believers, first check and test all teachings that you receive from the Word of God, and only after ascertaining the truth and veracity of the teachings brought to you by men, should you accept and obey them (Acts 17:11; 1 Thessalonians 5:21). If you do not do this, the false apostles and prophets sent by Satan as ministers of Christ (2 Corinthians 11:13-15), will by their trickery, cunningness, and craftiness render you ineffective for the Lord and cause severe damage to your Christian life and your rewards.

    If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord Jesus, then to ensure your eternal life and heavenly rewards, take a decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now. Wherever there is surrender and obedience towards the Lord Jesus, the Lord’s blessings and safety are also there. If you are still not Born Again, have not obtained salvation, or have not asked the Lord Jesus for forgiveness for your sins, then you have the opportunity to do so right now. A short prayer said voluntarily with a sincere heart, with heartfelt repentance for your sins, and a fully submissive attitude, “Lord Jesus, I confess that I have disobeyed You, and have knowingly or unknowingly, in mind, in thought, in attitude, and in deeds, committed sins. I believe that you have fully borne the punishment of my sins by your sacrifice on the cross, and have paid the full price of those sins for all eternity. Please forgive my sins, change my heart and mind towards you, and make me your disciple, take me with you." God longs for your company and wants to see you blessed, but to make this possible, is your personal decision. Will you not say this prayer now, while you have the time and opportunity to do so - the decision is yours.

मसीही जीवन के चार स्तम्भ - 4 - प्रार्थना (31) 

व्यावहारिक मसीही जीवन से सम्बन्धित बातों के बारे में सीखते हुए, हम प्रेरितों 2:42 में दी गई चार बातों को, जिनका पालन आरम्भिक मसीही विश्वासी लौलीन होकर किया करते थे, परमेश्वर के वचन बाइबल में दिए गए उनसे सम्बन्धित पदों और उदाहरणों के आधार पर देख रहे हैं। पहली तीन बातों को देखने के बाद अब हम चौथी बात, प्रार्थना करने के बारे में मत्ती 6:5-15 के आधार पर विचार कर रहे हैं। हम देख चुके हैं कि जिसे सामान्यतः “प्रभु की प्रार्थना” कहा जाता है, और जिसे बचपन से ही रट लेने के बाद सामान्यतः मसीही हर अवसर पर और हर बात के लिए, बिना उसके बारे में सोचे-समझे, उस पर विचारे, यूँ ही बोलते रहते हैं, वह वास्तव में प्रभु यीशु द्वारा दी गई कोई ‘प्रार्थना’ नहीं है। बल्कि पिता परमेश्वर को स्वीकार्य प्रार्थनाएं बनाने के लिए एक रूपरेखा, एक ढाँचा है। प्रत्येक मसीही को प्रभु द्वारा दिए गए इस ढाँचे के अनुसार अपने आप को, अपने जीवन और व्यवहार को सही करके, उसमें दी गई बातों के आधार पर परमेश्वर के सामने प्रस्तुत करने के लिए अपने निवेदनों को तैयार करना चाहिए। पिछले लेख में हमने देखा था कि किस प्रकार से शैतान ने हमें बहका और भरमा कर, यहाँ पर प्रभु ने जो प्रार्थना के विषय दिए हैं, उन्हें तो नज़रन्दाज़ करवा दिया है। लेकिन इससे थोड़ा सा आगे, मत्ती 6:19-34 में जो बातें परमेश्वर ने स्वतः ही अपने सच्चे, समर्पित, आज्ञाकारी विश्वासियों को उपहार के समान देने के लिए रखी हुई हैं, उन्हें हमारे प्रार्थना के विषय बनवा दिया है। परिणामस्वरूप, हमें न तो प्रार्थना वाली बातें मिलती हैं, और न ही उपहार में मिलने वाली बातें। क्योंकि पहली हम माँगते नहीं हैं, और दूसरी को पाने के लिए जो करना चाहिए उसे करने की बजाए, उनके लिए बस प्रार्थना करते रह जाते हैं। परमेश्वर के वचन को समझने और पालन करने में गलती हमारी है, किन्तु अपेक्षित उत्तर न पाने के लिए हम दोष परमेश्वर पर लगाते हैं, कि वह हमारी सुनता ही नहीं है। जबकि सच तो यह है कि हम उसकी नहीं सुनते हैं, उसके कहे के अनुसार नहीं करते हैं; बल्कि मनुष्यों की कही और गढ़ी हुई बातों में, उनकी सिखाई हुई गलतियों में फंसे और हानि उठाते रहते हैं। आज हम प्रभु द्वारा प्रार्थना में माँगने के लिए जो तीन बातें दी हैं, उनपर विचार करना आरम्भ करेंगे।

 

जैसा हमने पहले देखा है, मत्ती 6:11-13a में प्रभु ने तीन बातें बताई हैं, जिन्हें मसीही विश्वासियों को पिता परमेश्वर से माँगना चाहिए। पहली बात, पद 11 में दी गई है, “हमारी दिन भर की रोटी आज हमें दे” (मत्ती 6:11)। प्रभु की यह बात इस्राएलियों के मिस्र के दासत्व से निकलकर मिस्र की यात्रा के समय उनके भोजन के बारे में ध्यान करवाती है। हम उत्पत्ति 16 अध्याय में देखते हैं कि उन इस्राएलियों के भोजन के लिए, परमेश्वर उन्हें प्रतिदिन मन्ना दिया करता था। उन्हें प्रतिदिन सवेरे उठकर उसे एकत्रित करना होता था, और उनके पास हमेशा परिवार के प्रत्येक व्यक्ति की आवश्यकता के अनुसार दिन भर का मन्ना उपलब्ध रहता था, चाहे वे कम या अधिक, जितना भी एकत्रित करें। यदि अधिक एकत्रित करते थे, तो जो आवश्यकता से अधिक था, वह सड़ जाता था; और यदि कम एकत्रित किया होता था, तो भी कोई भूखा नहीं रहता था। केवल सबत के दिन के लिए वे दो दिन की आवश्यकता के अनुसार मन्ना एकत्रित किया करते थे, और वह खराब नहीं होता था। जब तक वे इस्राएली कनान में आकर बस नहीं गए, उनके पास खेती करके भोजन का साधन नहीं हो गया, परमेश्वर उन्हें मन्ना देता रहा (यहोशू 5:12)। लेकिन जंगल की 40 वर्ष की यात्रा में परमेश्वर के उन लोगों, इस्राएलियों को, कभी एक दिन, या एक बार भी मन्ना दिए जाने के लिए परमेश्वर से कोई प्रार्थना नहीं करनी पड़ी। परमेश्वर ने प्रतिज्ञा की थी कि उन्हें प्रतिदिन मन्ना मिलेगा, और प्रति भोर, मन्ना उनके लिए उपलब्ध होता था, उन्हें बस जाकर उसे एकत्रित करना होता था। तो फिर प्रभु यहाँ पर अपने शिष्यों से प्रतिदिन की रोटी माँगने के लिए क्यों कह रहा है? उसने, उन शिष्यों से यह क्यों नहीं कहा कि परमेश्वर से माँगो कि जैसे इस्राएलियों को प्रतिदिन उनका भोजन मिल जाता था, वैसे ही हमें भी जीवन भर स्वतः ही भोजन मिलता रहे; माँगने की आवश्यकता ही न हो?

उस समय की इस्राएलियों की परिस्थिति का ध्यान कीजिए; वे यात्रा में थे। परमेश्वर उनके मार्ग का, उन्हें कितना चलना है, कब और कहाँ रुकना है, कितने समय रुकना है, कब फिर से चल देना है, अगला पड़ाव कब और कहाँ होगा, आदि सभी बातों को तय करता था, और उसके अनुसार उन्हें लेकर चलता था (गिनती 9:17-22)। इसलिए उस पूरी यात्रा में, उनकी बलवई और अनाज्ञाकारिता की प्रवृत्ति के बावजूद, उन इस्राएलियों के पास सिवाए परमेश्वर पर मन्ना के लिए निर्भर रहने के, भोजन के लिए अन्य कोई विकल्प था ही नहीं। वे मिस्र के भोजन को याद करके विलाप कर सकते थे, लेकिन कनान में पहुँचने से पहले वैसे भोजन को प्राप्त नहीं कर सकते थे। उन इस्राएलियों के समान, आज के मसीही भी बलवई हैं, ढीठ और अनाज्ञाकारी तो हैं; लेकिन एक तरह से, भोजन के लिए परमेश्वर पर निर्भर नहीं हैं। आज वे अपने प्रयत्न, अपने परिश्रम से, या संसार के साथ समझौते करके, शारीरिक भोजन प्राप्त कर सकते हैं। इसलिए, अपने शिष्यों को प्रार्थना में माँगने के लिए पहली बात प्रतिदिन का भोजन, को रखने के द्वारा प्रभु अपने शिष्यों के अन्दर यह प्रवृत्ति, यह निर्भरता चाहता है कि वे अपनी शारीरिक सामर्थ्य और साँसारिक योग्यता पर, अपनी सम्पन्नता पर भरोसा ना करें, वरन केवल परमेश्वर पर निर्भर रहने वाले हों। 

उन इस्राएलियों के, परमेश्वर के प्रति हर प्रकार के व्यवहार के बावजूद, परमेश्वर उन्हें प्रतिदिन उनकी आवश्यकता के अनुसार मन्ना देता ही रहा; उसे कभी रोका नहीं। अर्थात परमेश्वर के प्रावधान उसके लोगों के लिए हमेशा और हर परिस्थिति में उपलब्ध रहते हैं, “जवान सिंहों तो घटी होती और वे भूखे भी रह जाते हैं; परन्तु यहोवा के खोजियों को किसी भली वस्तु की घटी न होवेगी” (भजन 34:10)। लेकिन जो परमेश्वर पर नहीं, बल्कि स्वयं पर निर्भर रहते हैं, वे नहीं जानते हैं कि कब परिस्थिति बदले, कब कोई दुर्घटना, कोई रोग, कोई आपदा आए, और वे सम्पन्नता से कंगाली में पहुँच जाएं; बहुतायत से निकलकर दाने-दाने को तरस जाएं। संसार कि जिन लोगों पर वे भरोसा कर रहे हैं, वे कब उन्हें धोखा दे दें, कब उनसे उनका सब कुछ छीन लें। इसलिए प्रभु के सच्चे शिष्यों को परमेश्वर से जो माँगना है, उसमें सब से पहली बात है परमेश्वर पर निर्भर रहने की प्रवृत्ति, जिससे वे कभी किसी धोखे में, हानि में न आएं; उनकी आवश्यकताओं की पूर्ति का स्त्रोत हमेशा उपलब्ध बना रहे। अगले लेख में हम यहाँ से आगे देखेंगे।

The Four Pillars of Christian Living - 4 - Prayer (31)

While learning about things related to practical Christian living, we have been considering the four things given in Acts 2:42, which the initial Christian Believers observed steadfastly, through the examples and verses given about them in God’s Word, the Bible. Having seen the first three things, we are now considering the fourth one, prayer; and on the basis of Matthew 6:5-15 we are seeing about the “Lord’s Prayer.” We have seen that what is commonly called the “Lord’s Prayer,” and is usually memorized in childhood and then is routinely spoken by rote on all occasions, for everything without trying to understand about it or ponder over it, is actually not a ‘prayer’ given by the Lord. Instead, it is an outline, a framework to build prayers acceptable to God the Father. Every Christian should correct and build their lives and behavior according to this framework and the things given in it, and then prepare their prayers to offer to God according to this outline. In the previous article we have seen how Satan has deceived and misled us to ignore the things stated by the Lord in these verses to pray about. But a little ahead, in Matthew 6:19-34 what God has given as things that He will automatically gift to His true, surrendered, obedient disciples, those, under Satan’s influence on us, have become our prayer points. Consequently, neither do we receive the things that should be our topics for prayer, nor those which are meant to be given as gifts or rewards. Because we never pray and ask for the first ones, and do not do what we should be doing to receive the second ones, but only keep praying about them. The fault of not understanding and obeying God’s Word is ours, but since we do not get our expected answers, we hold God responsible and accuse Him of not answering our prayers. Whereas, the truth is that instead of listening to God, we listen to men and their contrived teachings, and remain caught up in their wrong teachings and keep suffering loss. Today we will begin considering the three topics for prayer that have been stated by the Lord here.

As we have seen earlier, the Lord has said three things in Matthew 6:11-13a, which the Christian should be praying about to God. The first is in verse 11 “Give us this day our daily bread” (Matthew 6:11). What the Lord has said brings to mind the way God provided food for the Israelites when they came out of slavery in Egypt and journeyed to the Promised Land. We see in Exodus chapter 16 that God gave them food for the day in the form of manna every day. Every morning the Israelites had to gather manna for the day, and they always had enough for the needs of the family throughout the day, no matter how much or how little they would gather. If they gathered in excess, it would rot, even if they had gathered less, no one went hungry. Only for the Sabbath day could they gather enough to last them for two days and it would not rot. They continued to receive manna till they settled in Canaan and had their first harvest (Joshua 5:12). But throughout their 40 years of travel in the wilderness, never once did the Israelite have to ask for manna to be provided to them. God had promised that they would receive it every morning, and every morning it was there, available for them; all they had to do was go and gather it for the day. Then why is the Lord asking His disciples to pray for their daily bread? Instead, why did He not ask the disciples to ask God to automatically keep giving them food daily, as He gave to the Israelites, without having to pray for it?

Ponder over the situation of the Israelites at that time; they were traveling. It was God who decided the way they had to take, for how long they had to continue traveling, when and where they were to break journey, for how long they had to stop, when they were to resume the journey, when and where would be the next camping, etc. (Numbers 9:17-22). Therefore, in that whole journey, despite their being rebellious, stiff-necked, and disobedient, the Israelites had no one but God to depend upon and no alternative for food except for the manna He provided to them as their food for the day. They could sorrow and lament for the food they ate in Egypt, but till they reached Canaan, they could never have it again. Like those Israelites, today’s Christians too are similarly rebellious, stiff-necked, and disobedient; but in a way, are not totally dependent upon God for their food as the Israelites were. Today, through their efforts, work, or compromising with the world, they can arrange for food for their physical needs. Therefore, by keeping their daily provision of food as the first prayer matter, the Lord wants the disciples to develop this tendency, this dependency that they will never rely on their physical strength, their capabilities, their prosperity, the world, but only trust and rely upon God for everything.

Despite whatever way those Israelites treated God, God continued to provide them with manna according to their needs; He never stopped it for them. In other words, God’s provisions are always available for His people, under all circumstances “The young lions lack and suffer hunger; But those who seek the Lord shall not lack any good thing” (Psalm 34:10). But those who depend not upon God but upon themselves, they never know when circumstances will change and they will go from being prosperous to being paupers. Some disease, some accident, some natural disaster would change everything for them. The people of the world that they have been relying upon, may deceive them and loot them out of everything they have. Therefore, the true disciples of the Lord, the first thing they should learn to ask from God is to have the nature of totally depending upon Him for everything, so that they will never be deceived by anyone, suffer any loss from anyone, and they always have available the inexhaustible source to meet their needs. Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Repenting of your sins, and asking the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily and sincerely, surrendering yourself to Him - is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life.  Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.

पिछले लेखों में हमने देखा है कि प्रभु की मेज़ में भाग लेना कोई रीति नहीं है, जिसमें किसी डिनॉमिनेशन, या समुदाय, या गुट के नियमों और परंपराओं के अनुसार, जैसे अच्छा लगे वैसे भाग लिया जा सकता है। पिछले लेख में हमने 1 कुरिन्थियों 10:16-22 में से देखा है कि परमेश्वर का वचन यह बताता है, और परमेश्वर यह आशा रखता है कि उसके प्रभु भोज में भाग लेने वाले संसार के लोगों से भिन्न जीवन और व्यवहार रखेंगे; उनके लिए यह करना अनिवार्य है। इस खण्ड से हमने यह भी देखा था कि जो प्रभु की मेज़ में भाग लेते हैं उन पर दो अभिप्रायों - प्रभु के साथ निकट संगति या सहभागिता का जीवन जीना, और भाग लेने वालों के मध्य एकता होना; तथा एक ज़िम्मेदारी, संसार से अलगाव का जीवन जीने का उल्लेख किया गया है। साथ ही हमने यह भी देखा था कि प्रभु भोज में भाग लेने के द्वारा, भाग लेने वाले प्रभु यीशु मसीह के साथ निकट की संगति और सहभागिता रखने की पुष्टि करते हैं और अपनी इस प्रतिबद्धता को दोहराते हैं।

प्रभु भोज में भाग लेने का दूसरा अभिप्राय, जैसा कि 1 कुरिन्थियों 10:17 में लिखा है, भाग लेने वालों को एकता में रहना है। यहाँ पर पद 16 में भी एक वचन में ‘कटोरा’ और ‘रोटी’ के प्रयोग के द्वारा इसी बात को कहा गया है, जिसे फिर पद 17 में और स्पष्ट कह दिया गया है। जब हम सुसमाचारों में दिए गए प्रभु यीशु मसीह द्वारा प्रभु भोज की स्थापना के वृतांतों को देखते हैं, तो वहाँ पर भी प्रभु यीशु ने एक ही रोटी ली और शिष्यों को उसी में से खाने के लिए कहा, और एक ही कटोरा लिया और सभी शिष्यों को उसी एक कटोरे में से ही पीने के लिए कहा। प्रभु द्वारा ऐसा करने, एक रोटी और एक ही कटोरे को उपयोग करने के तात्पर्य को यहाँ पद 17 में बताया गया है, “इसलिये, कि एक ही रोटी है सो हम भी जो बहुत हैं, एक देह हैं: क्योंकि हम सब उसी एक रोटी में भागी होते हैं।” एक रोटी प्रभु यीशु की एक देह का प्रतीक है, उस एक रोटी में भाग लेने के द्वारा, भाग लेने वाले अपनी एकता को प्रकट करते हैं, उनके प्रभु यीशु के द्वारा एक कर दिए जाने को दिखाते हैं, कि अब वे प्रभु यीशु की एक देह हैं। इसी बात को पद 18 में एक और उद्धरण से समझाया गया है, पुराने नियम की उपासना के उदाहरण के द्वारा। जो वेदी पर चढ़ाए गए बलिदानों में से खाते थे, ऐसा करने से वे न केवल वेदी के साथ, वरन, परस्पर भी एक हो जाते थे - यहाँ पर प्रयुक्त एकवचन “इस्राएली” पर ध्यान करें, यहाँ बहुवचन “इस्राएलियों”, या “यहूदियों”, या अन्य कोई बहुवचन शब्द का प्रयोग नहीं किया गया है।

नया जन्म पाए हुए मसीही विश्वासी मसीह की देह और दुल्हन हैं (इफिसियों 5:23-27) न कि ‘कई देह और कई दुल्हनें’। यहूदियों के लिए तो यह कल्पना से भी बाहर था कि वे अन्य-जातियों के साथ कोई संपर्क रखें (प्रेरितों 10:28), उनके साथ एक होकर रहने का तो कोई प्रश्न ही नहीं था। लेकिन इफिसियों 2:11-22 में पौलुस, पवित्र आत्मा के द्वारा इसी बात को समझाता है, ज़ोर देता है, और बाध्य करता है कि प्रभु यीशु मसीह में होकर यहूदी और अन्य-जाति एक हो गए हैं इसलिए उस एकता को जीकर भी दिखाएं। प्रभु यीशु की कलीसिया का आरंभ इसी एकता के साथ हुआ था (प्रेरितों 2:44-47)। पौलुस इस 1 कुरिन्थियों की पत्री का आरंभ कोरिन्थ की कलीसिया के सदस्यों से अपनी विभाजित करने वाले प्रवृत्ति को छोड़कर एक होकर रहने के आग्रह के साथ करता है (1 कुरिन्थियों 1:10-13); और फिर प्रभु भोज से संबंधित उनकी गलतियों को सुधारने तथा गलतफहमियों को ठीक करने के खण्ड, 1 कुरिन्थियों 11:17-34 की चर्चा का आरंभ भी इस एकता को बनाए रखने की बात पर फिर से बल देने के द्वारा करता है (11:17-19)। नए नियम में, मसीही विश्वासियों की इस एकता पर हमेशा ही बहुत बल दिया गया है, और इसे सर्वाधिक महत्व की बात दिखाया गया है, क्योंकि इसी में कलीसिया की सामर्थ्य, शक्ति, और योग्यता है (मत्ती 18:19-20)। इसीलिए शैतान हमेशा ही, किसी न किसी रीति से, एकता को भंग करने के प्रयास करता है। किन्तु प्रभु यीशु मसीह ने प्रभु भोज के द्वारा, मसीही विश्वासियों के लिए यह अनिवार्य कर दिया है कि वे मिल जुलकर एकता में रहें। बजाए इसके कि एक दूसरे से अलग होकर और पृथक गुट बनाकर रहें, परस्पर खड़ी हुई दीवारों को बना कर रखें, व्यर्थ की अहं की बातों के द्वारा शैतान को विभाजित करने के अवसर दें, प्रभु यीशु मसीह के विश्वासी होने के नाते यह हमारी जिम्मेदारी है कि हम इस एकता के लिए प्रयास करें और उसे बना कर रखें; क्योंकि अन्ततः एक दिन हम इसके लिए प्रभु को जवाबदेह भी होंगे, नहीं बनाए रखने का उत्तर भी देना होगा। आज कलीसिया में मेल करवाने वालों (मत्ती 5:9) की बहुत आवश्यकता है, जिससे कि वह शैतान की युक्तियों के सामने स्थिर खड़ी रह सके, और शैतानी शक्तियों पर जयवंत जीवन को दिखा सके।

 

जैसे कि प्रभु भोज में भाग लेने वाले इस अभिप्राय की पुष्टि करते हैं और उसे दोहराते हैं कि वे प्रभु यीशु के साथ निकट संगति और सहभागिता में रहते हैं; उसी प्रकार से, प्रभु भोज में भाग लेते समय वे इस बात की भी पुष्टि करते हैं और उसे दोहराते हैं कि वे प्रभु की देह - उसकी कलीसिया के अन्य सदस्यों के साथ एकता में भी रहते हैं। इन अंत के दिनों में, हमारे विश्वास में स्थिर खड़े रहने तथा अपनी गवाही के प्रति सच्चे और खरे होने के लिए यह एकता बहुत आवश्यक है, अनिवार्य है।

Implications of Participation (2)

 

In the previous articles we have seen that participating in the Lord’s Table is not a ritual that can be indulged in according to rules or traditions of any denomination, sect, or group. In the last article, from 1 Corinthians 10:16-22 we have seen that God’s Word prescribes, and God expects that the participants in His Holy Communion will live a life and behave differently than the people of the world; doing this is incumbent upon them. From this passage we had seen that for those who partake of the Lord’s Table, two implications – living a life of communion or fellowship with the Lord, and unity amongst the participants; and one responsibility of living a life of separation from the world, are stated here. We had then seen further that through participation in the Holy Communion, the participants affirm and renew their commitment of being, and living in close fellowship with the Lord Jesus.

The second implication of participating in the Lord’s Holy Communion is that the participants have to live in unity, as it says in 1 Corinthians 10:17. In verse 16 too, through the use of singular ‘cup’ and singular ‘bread’, the same thing was shown, and is stated more clearly in verse 17. When we study the institution of the Lord’s Table by the Lord Jesus as given in the Gospel accounts, there too, the Lord took one bread and gave it to His disciples, for all of them to eat from that one bread; and similarly, He took one cup, and asked the disciples to drink from that one cup. The Lord’s implication of doing this, of using one bread and one cup, is stated in verse 17 here, “For we, though many, are one bread and one body; for we all partake of that one bread.” The one bread represents the one body of the Lord Jesus, by partaking in that one bread, the partakers denote their unity, their being joined together through the Lord Jesus, now as one body of the Lord Himself. This is then further exemplified in verse 18 through the use of an Old Testament act of worship. Those who ate of the sacrifices made on the altar, were thereby united not only with the altar, but even amongst themselves - note the use of singular Israel at the beginning of this verse, instead of using a term like “the Israelites”, or “the Jews”, or some other plural expression.

The Born-Again Christian Believers are said to be the body and bride of Christ (Ephesians 5:23-27) and not ‘bodies and brides.’ It was unimaginable for the Jews to even communicate with the Gentiles (Acts 10:28), let alone ever be united with them. But in Ephesians 2:11-22, Paul, through the Holy Spirit explains, emphasizes, and exhorts for this very unity between the Jewish and Gentile Believers, effected through the Lord Jesus. The Church started off with this understanding of unity (Acts 2:44-47). Paul, in this letter of 1 Corinthians, begins by exhorting the Corinthian Church members to stop their divisive tendencies and remain united (1 Corinthians 1:10-13); and then in the section on correcting their errors and misunderstandings about the Holy Communion (1 Corinthians 11:17-34), he starts off the discourse by re-emphasizing maintaining this unity (11:17-19). In the New Testament, this unity of the Christian Believers has always been strongly emphasized upon, and considered to be of paramount importance, because in this unity is the strength, power, and capability of the Church (Matthew 18:19-20). Therefore, Satan always tries to disrupt this unity, one way or another. But the Lord Jesus, through the Holy Communion has made it imperative for the Believers to live in unity. Instead of looking for ways and excuses of separating and segregating ourselves from each other, of keeping intact our mutual barriers, of letting Satan divide us through petty ego issues, as Believers in the Lord Jesus, it is our responsibility, that we strive for and maintain this unity; for eventually we will be accountable to the Lord for not maintaining it. The Church today is sorely in need of the peacemakers (Matthew 5:9), so it can stand up to the wiles of the devil and demonstrate a life victorious over the satanic forces.

Just as the participants affirm and renew their commitment to being in close fellowship with the Lord and living accordingly; similarly, while participating in the Holy Communion they also affirm and renew their commitment of living in unity with the other members of the body of Christ - His Church. It is the urgent need of the hour that we be true to this commitment, to be able to stand firm in our Faith and true to our witness in these end times.

If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord, make your decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now to ensure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Repenting of your sins, and asking the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily and sincerely, surrendering yourself to Him - is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life.  Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.
