इससे पिछले लेखों में हमने किसी व्यक्ति के परमेश्वर को स्वीकार्य होने और उद्धार प्राप्त करने के सन्दर्भ में, परमेश्वर की दृष्टि में भला होने के बारे में देखा था। हमने देखा था कि यद्यपि पृथ्वी के जीवन के लिये मनुष्यों ने भला होने के अपने मानक और गुण निर्धारित कर रखे हैं, किन्तु किसी भी मनुष्य को परमेश्वर की दृष्टि में भला होने, उसे स्वीकार्य होने, और स्वर्ग में उसके साथ निवास करने के लिये, पृथ्वी पर मनुष्यों द्वारा निर्धारित किये गये मानकों का नहीं, बल्कि उसके लिये परमेश्वर द्वारा दिये और स्थापित किये गये मानकों का निर्वाह करना होगा। और मसीही विश्वास के अन्तर्गत ये मानक परमेश्वर ने अपने वचन बाइबल में हमें प्रदान किये हैं; परमेश्वर से मेल-मिलाप, उद्धार, और परमेश्वर के साथ स्वर्गीय जीवन किसी प्रकार के कर्मों या भले होने से नहीं, वरन पापों से पश्चाताप करके प्रभु यीशु को अपना उद्धारकर्ता ग्रहण करने से है। इस सन्दर्भ में फिर हमने पुराने नियम में मूसा में होकर परमेश्वर द्वारा दी गयी व्यवस्था तथा नए नियम में प्रभु यीशु में लाए गये विश्वास के द्वारा उद्धार के बारे में देखना आरम्भ किया था। हमने देखा था कि लोगों में प्रचलित सामान्य मान्यता एवं धारणा के विपरीत, पुराने नियम में दिए गए भेंट, बलिदानों, पर्वों, विधियों, नियमों आदि का निर्वाह व्यवस्था का निर्वाह करना नहीं है; वरन ये सभी प्रभु यीशु मसीह के जीवन, कार्य और बलिदान के पुराने नियम में दिए गए विभिन्न प्रतीक एवं प्ररूप हैं; और इनका निर्वाह करने से किसी का उद्धार नहीं होता है (इब्रानियों 10:1-4)। फिर हमने प्रभु यीशु मसीह द्वारा परमेश्वर की व्यवस्था वास्तव में क्या है, को समझाने के लिए कही गयी बात को मत्ती 22:35-40 से देखा था, जिसे फिर रोमियों 13:9 में दोहराया गया है।
यहाँ हम इस बहुत महत्वपूर्ण तथ्य को देखते हैं कि प्रभु यीशु, अर्थात, उस जीवते वचन के द्वारा जो देहधारी हुआ और जिसने हमारे बीच में निवास किया (यूहन्ना 1:1, 14), स्वयं हमारे लिए परिभाषित किया है कि परमेश्वर की व्यवस्था कोई रीति-रिवाज़, धर्म, पर्वों और परंपराओं, और अनुष्ठानों आदि का पालन करना नहीं है। वरन, परमेश्वर की व्यवस्था वह है जो खरे प्रेम में होकर परमेश्वर के प्रति हमारे संपूर्ण समर्पण, आज्ञाकारिता, और परमेश्वर के साथ हमारे संबंध, समर्पण, और व्यवहार को, तथा सभी मनुष्यों के प्रति भी हमारे द्वारा खरा प्रेम रखने को स्थापित करती है।
मनुष्य के परमेश्वर के साथ तथा अन्य मनुष्यों के साथ व्यवहार और निर्वाह करने वाले परमेश्वर के इन नियमों तथा इनसे संबंधित उसकी बातों का एक थोड़ा सा विस्तृत रूप, निर्गमन 20:1-17 में दी गई दस आज्ञाएँ हैं। बहुत ही संक्षेप में, इन दस आज्ञाओं में से पहली चार (20:1-11) परमेश्वर के साथ मनुष्य के संबंध और व्यवहार के बारे में हैं; और शेष छः (20:12-17) मनुष्यों के मनुष्य के साथ संबंध और व्यवहार के बारे में हैं। यहाँ दी गई ये दस आज्ञाएँ, एक तरह से किसी पुस्तक के अध्यायों के शीर्षकों के समान हैं; शीर्षक केवल अध्याय में क्या है उसका संकेत करता है; और वर्णन उस अध्याय के लेख में मिलता है। इसी प्रकार से ये आज्ञाएँ दस भिन्न अध्यायों को दिखाती हैं, और उन अध्यायों के शीर्षकों से संबंधित शेष वर्णन परमेश्वर के वचन के अन्य स्थानों पर इन दोनों संबंधों और व्यवहार की बातों में होकर प्रदान किया गया है।
इसीलिए जब भी इस्राएली उस वास्तविक व्यवस्था के पालन से भटक कर केवल रीति-रिवाजों, पर्वों, त्यौहारों, विधियों को मानने तथा औरों को मनवाने तक सीमित हो गए, तब साथ ही वे नैतिक और धार्मिक पतन में चले गए, परमेश्वर के प्रकोप के भागी हो गए (यशायाह 1:11-20; मलाकी 1:10), और बिलकुल यही मानसिकता तथा परमेश्वर के साथ संबंधों की दशा वर्तमान के ईसाई या मसीही समाज के साथ भी है। प्रभु यीशु मसीह के पृथ्वी की सेवकाई के दिनों में भी परमेश्वर का मंदिर था। वहाँ सारे पर्व और विधियाँ माने और मनाए जाते थे, वचन के अनुसार भेंट और बलिदान चढ़ाए जाते थे, वचन पढ़ा, सुना और सिखाया जाता था; किन्तु सब ऊपरी था। लोगों के, यहाँ तक कि उनके धर्म-गुरुओं के भी मन परमेश्वर से दूर थे (मत्ती 15:8); और प्रभु ने अपने मंदिर को डाकुओं की खोह कहा (मत्ती 21:13)!
धर्म के अगुवों ने ही मंदिर, आराधना, और व्यवस्था के पालन की वास्तविकता को भ्रष्ट कर दिया था, उसे एक औपचारिकता, परंपरा का निर्वाह मात्र बना दिया था। वे परमेश्वर के वचन और नियमों के स्थान पर अपने ही बनाए हुए नियमों को परमेश्वर के नियम और विधियाँ कह कर सिखाया करते थे (मत्ती 15:3-9; यशायाह 29:3; साथ ही यशायाह 1:1-17 भी देखें)। और परमेश्वर के उसी मंदिर के अंदर, धर्म के अगुवों ने प्रभु परमेश्वर यीशु मसीह को पकड़वाने और मार डालने का षड्यंत्र रचा, और कार्यान्वित करवाया। क्या आज यही दशा ईसाई या मसीही समाज की भी नहीं है; जहाँ हर डिनॉमिनेशन, मत, और समुदाय के, परमेश्वर के वचन से अतिरिक्त, अपने ही बनाए हुए नियम और विधियाँ हैं। ये सभी डिनॉमिनेशन, मत, और समुदाय परमेश्वर के वचन के पालन से अधिक महत्व अपनी ही बनाए हुए नियमों और विधियों, अपनी ही बातों के पालन को महत्व देते हैं, और केवल अपनी ही बातों को सही, तथा अन्य को गलत बताते और सिखाते हैं। तथा सभी के आराधना स्थलों पर, धार्मिक अगुवों के द्वारा ही औरों की आलोचना, औरों से पृथक होकर रहने, और यहाँ तक कि उनके विरोध की योजनाएं बनाई जाती हैं, कार्यान्वित करवाई जाती हैं। जबकि साथ ही वे परमेश्वर के सभी के लिए प्रेम और मसीह यीशु में होकर सभी के साथ भाई-चारे के सन्देश प्रचार करते हैं, जिनका पालन वे स्वयं भी नहीं करते हैं।
अगले लेख में हम देखेंगे कि व्यवस्था क्यों हमें उद्धार नहीं दे सकती है, उसकी क्या सीमाएं हैं; और फिर यह भी देखेंगे कि फिर भी व्यवस्था के पालन के द्वारा जीवन में प्रवेश करने की बात क्यों कही गई है। किन्तु अभी के लिए, आज जो भी अपने आप को अपने धर्म और डिनॉमिनेशन, उसके नियमों, परंपराओं, और विधियों का पालन करने वाले होने के कारण स्वयं को परमेश्वर की दृष्टि में भला और उसे स्वीकार्य समझते हैं, उन्हें सचेत होकर वास्तविकता को समझने और स्वीकार करने (1 थिस्सलुनीकियों 5:21; 1 कुरिन्थियों 10:12; 2 कुरिन्थियों 13:5), और पवित्र आत्मा के द्वारा पौलुस प्रेरित द्वारा लिखवाई गई बात, “इसलिये परमेश्वर अज्ञानता के समयों में आनाकानी कर के, अब हर जगह सब मनुष्यों को मन फिराने की आज्ञा देता है” (प्रेरितों 17:30) का पालन करने की आवश्यकता है - यह परमेश्वर का सुझाव या इच्छा मात्र नहीं, वरन उसकी आज्ञा है; और इस पद में लिखे “हर जगह सब मनुष्यों को” में सारे संसार के सभी ईसाई या मसीही समाज के सभी लोग भी ठीक वैसे ही आ जाते हैं जैसे अन्य किसी भी अन्य धर्म अथवा समाज के लोग।
यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। अपने पापों के लिये पश्चाताप करके प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु, मैं अपने पापों के लिए पश्चातापी हूँ, उनके लिए आप से क्षमा माँगता हूँ। मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मुझे और मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

The Law – Part 1 - Biblically, What is the Law? – 2
In the preceding articles, in context of a person’s being acceptable to God, and receiving salvation, we had started to see about being good in the eyes of God. We had seen that although men have created and established their own standards and criteria for being good for their earthly lives, but for any person to be good in God’s eyes, be acceptable to Him, and be able to reside in heaven with Him, he will have to fulfill not the man-made standards and criteria of earth, but the God given and established standards and criteria. And in the Christian faith, God has given these standards and criteria in His Word the Bible; and being reconciled with God, salvation, and heavenly life with God is not through any kind of good works or being good, but by repenting of sins and accepting the Lord Jesus as one’s savior. Then, in this context, we had started to consider the Law given by God through Moses in the Old Testament, and the salvation that is received by coming to faith in the Lord Jesus. We had seen that quite unlike the commonly held belief and concept by the people, the fulfilling of the Law is not by the following and observances of the offerings, sacrifices, feasts, traditions and rituals, etc.; rather, all these are symbols and forms given in the Old Testament of the life, work, and sacrifice of the Lord Jesus Christ; and fulfilling them does not save anyone (Hebrews 10:1-4). Then we had seen from Matthew 22:35-40 what the Lord Jesus had said to explain about the Law actually is; and this has been reiterated in Romans 13:9 as well.
Here we see this very important fact that the Lord Jesus, i.e. The Living Word who became flesh and dwelt among us (John 1:1, 14), has Himself defined for us that the Law of God is not the observance of any customs, religion, festivals, traditions, and rituals etc. Rather, God's Law is that which, on the basis of having a sincere love for God and for all people, establishes our honest commitment and submission to God and His Word over and above all else, and a sincere relationship, dedication, and behavior with God and with man.
The Ten Commandments in Exodus 20:1–17 are a slightly expanded version of these laws that guide and direct our attitude and behavior towards God and other human beings, in the manner God wants it done. Very briefly, the first four of these Ten Commandments (20:1-11) are about man's relationship and behavior with God; And the remaining six (20:12-17) are about man's relationships and interactions with other people. The Ten Commandments here are, in a way, similar to the headings of the chapters of a book; The heading only refers to what is in the chapter; while the details are found in the text of that chapter. Similarly, these commandments refer to ten different chapters of our association and relationship with God and men, and the text or content of these chapters, i.e., these aspects of our relationships is provided in other places of God's Word.
That is why whenever the Israelites deviated from the observance of the actual spirit of the Law, and only formally fulfilled the customs, feasts, festivals, rituals, i.e., merely the text of the Law, they then fell into moral and religious decline, and ended up being subjects of the wrath of God (Isaiah 1:11-20; Malachi 1:10). Exactly the same mentality and state of relationship with God is also seen in the present-day Christians and Christian society. Even in the days of the earthly ministry of the Lord Jesus Christ, there was the Temple of God, where all festivals and ceremonies were held and celebrated, offerings and sacrifices were made according to the Law, the God’s Word was read, heard and taught; but everything was ritualistic. The minds not only of the people, but even of their religious leaders, were far from God (Matthew 15:8); And the Lord called his temple a den of thieves (Matthew 21:13)!
The religious leaders had corrupted the stature of the temple, worship, and observance of the Law, making it a formality, a mere exercise of tradition. Instead of God's Word, they taught the people their own rules and regulations, their contrived words and laws (Matthew 15:3-9; Isaiah 29:3; see also Isaiah 1:1-17). And within the same Temple of God, religious leaders plotted and executed a conspiracy to betray and kill the Lord God Jesus Christ. Is not the same condition rampant today amongst Christians and in the Christian society also, where every denomination, creed, and community, has its own set of rules and regulations, all apart from the Word of God. All of these denominations, sects, and communities value the observance of the rules and regulations and rituals they have made, they value their own words more than the observance of the Word of God; and they also teach only their own words to be right, and of others to be wrong. And at these very places of worship, plans are made and implemented by the religious leaders to criticize others, stay segregated from others, and even oppose them. While preaching messages of God’s love for everyone and of universal brotherhood in Christ Jesus, which they themselves never put into practice.
In the next article we will see why the law cannot save us, what are its limitations; and then we will also see why it has been said that by following the Law one can enter life. But for now, those who today consider themselves to be good and acceptable in the eyes of God, by virtue of their being adherents and followers of the tenets of their religion and denomination, its rules, traditions, and ordinances, they must seriously introspect and consciously understand the reality (1 Thessalonians 5:21; 1 Corinthians 10:12; 2 Corinthians 13:5), and accept what the apostle Paul wrote by the Holy Spirit, "Truly, these times of ignorance God overlooked, but now commands all men everywhere to repent” (Acts 17:30). This is not merely a suggestion, or merely a thought expressed by God, but it is His command; and in “all men everywhere”, Christians i.e., all people of Christendom, world-wide, are also included in just the same way as people of any other religion or society.
If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord, make your decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now to ensure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Repenting of your sins, and asking the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily and sincerely, surrendering yourself to Him - is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life. Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.
