परमेश्वर के वचन की आज्ञाकारिता – 2

 

पिछले लेख से हमने दाऊद द्वारा सुलैमान को दिए गए तीसरे निर्देश – “जितनी बातें परमेश्वर के वचन में लिखी हैं, वह उनका आज्ञाकारी बना रहे” (1 राजाओं 2:3b), और जो आज भी सभी मसीहियों पर समान रीति से लागू है, पर विचार करना आरंभ किया है। पिछले लेख में हमने देखा है कि परमेश्वर के वचन की अनाज्ञाकारिता के कारण ही पाप को सँसार तथा सृष्टि में प्रवेश करने का अवसर मिला। परमेश्वर के वचन की अनाज्ञाकारिता हमेशा ही लोगों तथा परमेश्वर की सन्तानों के लिए गंभीर समस्याएं उत्पन्न करती रही है, उन पर परमेश्वर के दण्ड, क्रोध, और घोर ताड़ना को लाती रही है। परमेश्वर अपने अनाज्ञाकारी लोगों को, जो उसे छोड़ कर सँसार और उसके सुखों के पीछे हो लेते हैं, न तो कभी छोड़ देता है और न ही उनका तिरस्कार करता है। उसने इस्राएल को नहीं छोड़ा, इस्राएल ने जो प्रभु यीशु और उसके अनुयायियों के साथ किया, उसके बावजूद भी; परंतु न तो उसने उनकी अनाज्ञाकारिता को हल्के में लिया और न ही उसकी अनदेखी की। जो भी परमेश्वर के अनाज्ञाकारिता करता है, उसे इसका परिणाम भुगतना पड़ेगा और कीमत चुकानी होगी; और यह उनकी अनन्तकाल की आशीषों और प्रतिफलों को भी नष्ट करता है। ऐसे बहुतेरे मसीही विश्वासी होंगे जो स्वर्ग में छूछे हाथ प्रवेश करेंगे (1 कुरिन्थियों 3:13-15), और अनन्तकाल तक खाली हाथ ही रहेंगे। क्योंकि उन्होंने अपने मसीही जीवन वैसे व्यतीत नहीं किए जो परमेश्वर को प्रसन्न करे, उन पर उसकी आशीष लाए, और उन्हें अनन्तकालीन प्रतिफलों को प्रदान करे।

एक अन्य बात जिसे हमें समझना अनिवार्य है, वह है कि परमेश्वर के वचन की आज्ञाकारिता का अर्थ होता है परमेश्वर ने अपने वचन में जो और जैसा लिखवाया है, उसका वैसे ही पालन करना, उसी के अनुसार करना। इसका यह अर्थ कदापि नहीं है, और न ही किसी मनुष्य को अनुमति है, कि वह परमेश्वर के वचन में कोई परिवर्तन, कोई जोड़-तोड़ करे, और फिर उस बदले हुए वचन को परमेश्वर के लोगों के समक्ष, परमेश्वर का खरा वचन कह कर प्रस्तुत करे। प्रभु यीशु के सम्पूर्ण ‘पहाड़ी उपदेश’ में, अर्थात मत्ती रचित सुसमाचार के 5-7 अध्यायों में, हम देखते हैं कि प्रभु यीशु कई दफा, ‘तुमने सुना है,’ या, ‘तुम से कहा गया है,’ या इसी अभिप्राय का कोई वाक्यांश कहते हैं; और फिर, यह कहते हुए कि ‘लेकिन मैं तुम से कहता हूँ,’ वो उसका सुधारा हुआ स्वरूप बताते हैं। अर्थात जीवित वचन जिसने देहधारी होकर हमारे मध्य में डेरा किया (यूहन्ना 1:14), उन्हें सिखा रहा था कि वास्तविक निर्देश क्या था, बजाय उसके जो भ्रष्ट कर के उन्हें सिखाया गया और जिसका पालन करवाया जा रहा था। उस समय के धार्मिक अगुवों ने परमेश्वर के वचन की गलत व्याख्या करके उसका दुरुपयोग इस उद्देश्य से किया था कि वह उनके लिए सहज एवं लाभकारी हो। वे जन-सामान्य को इस भ्रष्ट किए हुए वचन को परमेश्वर का वचन कहकर बताते और सिखाते थे, और उसी का पालन करने के लिए कहते थे। मत्ती 15:1-9 में हम देखते हैं कि प्रभु यीशु शास्त्रियों और फरीसियों को फटकार लगाई, उनके द्वारा अपनी ही रीतियाँ बनाकर और मनुष्यों की बनाई हुए आज्ञाओं को परमेश्वर का वचन कह कर सिखाने के लिए उनकी भर्त्सना की। उस समय लोग सामान्यतः अनपढ़ होते थे, और परमेश्वर के वचन की प्रतियां भी पढ़ने और सीखने के लिए सरलता से उपलब्ध नहीं थीं; इसीलिए लोग मजबूर थे कि धार्मिक अगुवों के द्वारा उन्हें जो भी बताया और सिखाया जाए, उसी को स्वीकार कर लें, और उसे का पालन करें।

आज भी लगभग यही स्थिति विद्यमान है, यद्यपि परमेश्वर का वचन अनेकों भाषाओं और विभिन्न स्वरूपों – लिखित और डिजिटल रूप में; साथ ही बाइबल के अध्ययन की सामग्री भी बहुतायत से और सरलता से उपलब्ध है। और प्रभु परमेश्वर ने अपना वचन सिखाने के लिए प्रत्येक मसीही विश्वासी को अपना पवित्र आत्मा भी प्रदान कर रखा है – जैसे हम वचन के भण्डारी होने से संबंधित लेखों में विस्तार से देख चुके हैं। किन्तु फिर भी अधिकाँश “मसीही” अपने धार्मिक अगुवों पर ही भरोसा करते हैं, उन्हीं की कही हुई को सुनते और मानते हैं, डिनॉमिनेशन या मत के अगुवे जो कहते और करवाते हैं लोग परमेश्वर के वास्तविक वचन की बजाए उस कहे हुए का ही पालन करते हैं। यह तथ्य कि विभिन्न डिनॉमिनेशनों और मतों के सिद्धांतों और रीतियों में परस्पर बहुत अन्तर पाए जाते हैं इस बात का प्रमाण है कि मनुष्यों के बनाए हुए ये नियम और रिवाज़, ये सिद्धान्त और रीतियाँ, परमेश्वर का वास्तविक वचन नहीं हैं। जैसा कि प्रभु यीशु की पृथ्वी के सेवकाई के दिनों में फरीसी, शास्त्री, और अन्य धार्मिक अगुवे कर रहे थे, आज ये डिनॉमिनेशनों और मतों के धार्मिक अगुवे भी परमेश्वर के वचन की गलत व्याख्या और दुरुपयोग कर रहे हैं। उसे अपने लिए सहज और लाभकारी बनाकर उस बदले हुए तथा भ्रष्ट किए हुए वचन को परमेश्वर का सच्चा और खरा वचन बताकर सिखा रहे हैं, जो कि वह कदापि नहीं है। इसीलिए, प्रभु यीशु ने जो उस समय फरीसियों से कहा था, वही आज भी वैसे ही, इन लोगों पर भी लागू होता है – “और ये व्यर्थ मेरी उपासना करते हैं, क्योंकि मनुष्यों की विधियों को धर्मोपदेश कर के सिखाते हैं” (मत्ती 15:9)। अर्थात, इन गढ़ी हुई और भ्रष्ट धारणाओं और रीतियों के अनुसार की जाने वाली समस्त आराधना और भक्ति “व्यर्थ आराधना” है, निष्फल और निरर्थक है। जो लोग यह करवाते और करते हैं उन्हें इससे कोई स्वर्गीय आशीष, कोई अनन्तकालीन लाभ नहीं मिलता है, वे चाहे कितनी ही ईमानदारी और श्रद्धा से इसका निर्वाह क्यों न करें।

मसीहियों के लिए परमेश्वर के निर्देश “निर्मल आत्मिक दूध” (1 पतरस 2:2) की लालसा रखने के हैं, न परमेश्वर के वचन के नाम पर बदला हुआ, भ्रष्ट किया हुआ, जो कुछ भी सिखाया और करवाया जाए उसी में बने रहने के। जैसा हमने मसीही विश्वासी के परमेश्वर के वचन का भण्डारी होने से संबंधित लेखों में देखा है, कलीसियाओं की बढ़ोतरी और विश्वासियों की आत्मिक उन्नति के लिए आवश्यक बातों में परमेश्वर का परिशुद्ध, बिना भ्रष्ट किया गया वचन देना, सिखाना एवं सीखना, और उसी का पालन करना, एक बहुत महत्वपूर्ण स्थान रखते हैं। परिशुद्ध वचन से ही कलीसिया बढ़ती और विश्वासियों की आत्मिक उन्नति होती है, किसी अन्य से नहीं। परमेश्वर की आशीषें और प्रभु के साथ संगति केवल उसके खरे वचन के मानने वालों के साथ ही हैं (यूहन्ना 14:21, 23; यशायाह 40:31; 2 तीमुथियुस 3:15-17)।

अगले लेख में दाऊद के द्वारा सुलैमान को दिए गए चौथे निर्देश “सावधान रहे, और हमेशा प्रभु के प्रति समर्पित बना रहे (1 राजाओं 2:4b)” पर विचार करना आरम्भ करेंगे।

यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। स्वेच्छा से अपने पापों के लिये पश्चाताप करके प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु, मैं अपने पापों के लिए पश्चातापी हूँ, उनके लिए आप से क्षमा माँगता हूँ। मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मुझे और मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

Always Obedient to God’s Word

Obedience to God’s Word – 2

 

Since the last article, we have begun to consider the third instruction that David gave to Solomon – “To be obedient to the Word of God, in all things written in it” (1Ki 2:3b); and even today it remains applicable to all the Christians. In the previous article we have seen that disobedience to God’s Word caused sin to enter into creation and the world. Disobedience to God’s Word has always caused serious problems for the people and children of God; even inviting God’s retribution, wrath, and severe chastisement upon them. God does not abandon or reject His disobedient people who leave Him and go follow the world and its pleasures. He has not rejected Israel, despite what Israel has done to the Lord Jesus and to those following Him; but neither does He condone their disobedience nor takes it lightly. Anyone who disobeys God, will have to suffer for it and pay a price; This even harms their eternal blessings and rewards. There will be many Christian Believers who will enter heaven empty handed (1 Corinthians 3:13-15), and remain so for eternity. Because they failed to live their Christian lives in a manner that would please God, bring His blessings upon them, and cause them to receive eternal rewards.

Another thing we need to understand is that obeying God’s Word means obeying and doing according to what God has written in His Word, just as He has asked it to be done. It in no way means, or, permits man’s modifications and alterations of God’s Word, and then to present the man-made modifications to God’s people as the pure Word of God. Throughout the Sermon on the Mount, i.e., chapters 5-7 of Matthew’s Gospel, we find the Lord Jesus repeatedly teaching and saying phrases like, ‘you have heard,’ or ‘you were told,’ or implying the same; and then He presents His corrected version by stating ‘but I say to you.’ In other words, the Living Word who became flesh and dwelt amongst us (John 1:14) was teaching them what the actual instruction was, instead of the corrupted one that they had been taught and asked to practice. The religious leaders of those times had misinterpreted and misapplied God’s Word to make it suit their convenience and be of benefit to them. They were teaching this corrupted word of God to the general public and asking them to obey it. In Matthew 15:1-9 the Lord Jesus castigates the Scribes and the Pharisees for creating their own traditions and teaching commandments of men as the word of God, and denounced them for it. At that time the people were generally illiterate, and copies of God’s Word were not so easily available for reading and learning; and so, the people were constrained to learn, accept, and follow whatever the religious leaders taught them and asked them to do.

Much the same situation exists even today, although God’s word is freely available in many languages and forms – printed and digital; and so are Bible studies and teachings readily available. The Lord God has also given His Holy Spirit to each and every Christian Believer to teach them His Word, as we have seen in detail in the articles related to being a steward of God’s Word. But still, the vast majority of the “Christians” believe in and adhere to what their religious leaders, those of their denomination or sect preach and teach them, instead of obeying and following the actual Word of God. The very fact that there are major differences in the doctrines and practices of every denomination and sect is proof that none of these man-made rules and regulations, these doctrines and practices, are actually the Word of God. Like what the Scribes and Pharisees and the other religious leaders were doing during the earthly ministry of the Lord, similarly, today’s denominational religious leaders have also manipulated and misinterpreted God’s Word to suit their convenience, and teach that modified and corrupted Word of God, as the “truth” which it most certainly is not. Therefore, what the Lord Jesus said to the Pharisees at that time, also equally applies today – “And in vain they worship Me, Teaching as doctrines the commandments of men” (Matthew 15:9). All worship and reverence of God based on these contrived denominational doctrines and practices is “vain worship,” i.e., it is inconsequential. It brings no blessings or rewards to those who indulge in it, no matter how piously and sincerely they may practice it.

God’s instructions to the Christian Believers are to desire the “pure milk of the word” (1 Peter 2:2); not to accept and remain indulgent in the corrupted, adulterated thing preached and taught as ‘word of god’ to them. As we have seen in the articles on the Believer’s stewardship of the Church, and the factors contributing to the growth and edification of the Church and the Christian Believers, it is the sharing, teaching, learning, and obeying the pure, unadulterated, unmodified, unaltered Word of God that causes the Believers to be edified and the Church to grow, not anything else. The blessings and fellowship of the Lord is with those who obey His pure Word (John 14:21, 23; Isaiah 40:31; 2 Timothy 3:15-17).

In the next article we will begin considering David’s fourth instruction to Solomon, “To be careful, taking heed, to remain sincere and committed to the Lord always (1 Kings 2:4b).”

If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord, make your decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now to ensure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Voluntarily repent of your sins and ask the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily and sincerely, surrender yourself to Him - this is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life.  Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.

    आराधना के बारे में ज़ारी हमारे इस अध्ययन में, पिछले लेखों में अभी तक हमने देखा है कि: आराधना वास्तव में क्या है; यह मसीही विश्वासी के लिए क्यों अनिवार्य है; मसीही जीवन और सेवकाई पर इससे आने वाले विभिन्न प्रभाव क्या हैं; और इससे मसीही विश्वासी को क्या लाभ – दोनों, आत्मिक एवं भौतिक, होते हैं। आज से हम देखना आरंभ करेंगे कि हमें सच्ची आराधना करने से बाधित करनी वाली क्या-क्या बातें हैं; जिन के कारण मसीही विश्वासी सच्ची आराधना नहीं करने पाते हैं, जिस कारण से फिर वे परमेश्वर के लिए उतने उपयोगी नहीं होते हैं, और न ही अपने मसीही जीवन में उतने उन्नत तथा लाभान्वित होने पाते हैं, जितना होना चाहिए।

    हम देख चुके हैं परमेश्वर की आराधना करना, परमेश्वर के साथ हमारे संबंधों का एक अनिवार्य और आशीषित भाग है; ऐसा जो हमारे जीवनों को इस लोक तथा परलोक के लिए परमेश्वर की बहुतायत की आशीषों से भर देता है। किन्तु फिर भी परमेश्वर की आराधना तथा महिमा करना ऐसी बात है जो अकसर न तो ठीक से समझी जाती है, और न ही सही प्रकार से की जाती है। पहली बात जो लोगों को सच्ची आराधना करने से बाधित करती है, वह है यह नहीं जानना है कि सच्ची आराधना वास्तव में क्या है। इस जानकारी का न होना उनमें विभिन्न प्रकार से प्रकट होती है, और अब हम इस बात को देखना आरंभ करेंगे।

    सामान्यतः आराधना को गीत गाना और प्रार्थना करना समझ लिया जाता है। लगभग सभी डिनॉमिनेशंस की कलीसियाओं की सभाओं में सामूहिक गीत गाने का प्रचालन है, और इसे ही सामूहिक आराधना के समान स्वीकार कर लिया जाता है। यद्यपि गीत गाना आराधना करने का स्वरूप है, किन्तु यदि यह गीत को परम्परागत रीति से, रटे हुए तरीके से गाना मात्र ही है; या, यदि गाने वाले का मन और हृदय उस गीत में, और उसे गाए जाने में नहीं है, तो फिर यह निरर्थक आराधना “आत्मा और सच्चाई” की वह आराधना नहीं है जो परमेश्वर चाहता है, और व्यर्थ आराधना है। न केवल कलीसिया के रूप में सामूहिक आराधना, किन्तु व्यक्तिगत आराधना, परमेश्वर की संतान होने के नाते व्यक्ति का स्वर्गीय पिता के पास आना, उसकी महिमा तथा गुणानुवाद करना, प्रत्येक मसीही विश्वासी के जीवन में बहुत आवश्यक है, और परमेश्वर यही चाहता भी है। यह बहुत आम रीति से देखा जाता है कि व्यक्तिगत आराधना करते समय, धन्यवाद के कुछ शब्दों को कहने के पश्चात अधिकांश लोग प्रार्थना करने लग जाते हैं, परमेश्वर से माँगने लग जाते हैं - चाहे वह औरों के लिए आशीष ही क्यों न हो। इस मूल भिन्नता को, कि प्रार्थना परमेश्वर से कुछ माँगना है, और आराधना परमेश्वर को कुछ देना है अकसर लोगों द्वारा स्पष्टता से समझा नहीं जाता है, उसे ध्यान में नहीं रखा जता है, इसीलिए उसका पालन भी नहीं किया जाता है।

    परमेश्वर की आराधना करना, रीति के अनुसार धार्मिक परंपराओं और गतिविधियों का पालन करना नहीं है, और न ही यह औपचारिक रीति से कुछ निर्धारित धार्मिक अनुष्ठानों की पूर्ति करना है। हम यशायाह 1:11-20 में देखते हैं कि परमेश्वर अपने लोगों को फटकार लगाता है, क्योंकि वे अब उसके आज्ञाकारी नहीं रहे थे, उनमें उसके प्रति सच्ची श्रद्धा नहीं थी; वे केवल रीति के अनुसार, औपचारिक तरीके से निर्धारित पर्व, भेंट और बलिदानों का निर्वाह कर रहे थे। किन्तु यह परमेश्वर को स्वीकार्य नहीं था; यशायाह 1:13-14 में परमेश्वर इन के लिए ‘व्यर्थ अन्नबलि’, ‘घृणा’, ‘बुरा लगना’, ‘अनर्थ’, ‘सहा नहीं जाता’, ‘बैर’, ‘बोझ’, ‘सहना’, ‘उकताना’ जैसे शब्दों का प्रयोग करता है, और उनका पूर्णतः तिरस्कार कर देता है। मलाकी 1:10 में परमेश्वर किसी ऐसे जन की लालसा कर रहा है जो आराधना के स्थान के दरवाज़ों को बन्द कर दे जिससे लोग आकर व्यर्थ आराधना न चढ़ाने पाएँ। ऐसी ही परिस्थिति प्रभु यीशु की पृथ्वी की सेवकाई के दिनों में भी व्याप्त थी। मंदिर में, रीति के अनुसार औपचारिक आराधना की जाती थी, किन्तु उसमें परमेश्वर के प्रति न तो समर्पण था और न ही सच्ची श्रद्धा। प्रभु ने दो बार मंदिर को ऐसे व्यर्थ के कर्मकांड से स्वच्छ किया, एक बार अपनी सेवकाई के आरंभ में (यूहन्ना 2:14-16), और फिर अपनी पृथ्वी की सेवकाई के अन्त के निकट, और उस मंदिर को, जहाँ पर यह सब हो रहा था, डाकुओं की खोह भी कहा (मरकुस 11:15-17)। साथ ही, क्योंकि उस समय के धार्मिक अगुवों ने अपनी सुविधा के लिए परमेश्वर के वचन की गलत व्याख्याएँ की हुई थीं और उसका दुरुपयोग करते थे, उन्हीं गलत बातों को सिखाते तथा पालन करवाते थे, इसलिए प्रभु ने उनकी इस आराधना को “व्यर्थ आराधना” कहा (मत्ती 15:8-9)।

    अगले लेख में हम इसी विषय पर कुछ और बातों को देखेंगे कि क्या करना सच्ची आराधना नहीं है। सच्ची और परमेश्वर को स्वीकार्य आराधना अर्पित करने के लिये, व्यक्ति को परमेश्वर का जन होना भी अनिवार्य है। और, आज परमेश्वर का जन, स्वेच्छा से, सच्चे मन से, प्रभु यीशु मसीह में, तथा कलवारी के क्रूस पर दिये गये उसके बलिदान और पुनरुत्थान में विश्वास लाने और पापों से पश्चाताप के द्वारा बना जाता है (यूहन्ना 1:12-13)।

Obstacles to Worship (1) - Not Knowing Worship

    In this our on-going study about worship, in the previous articles, so far we have seen: what worship actually is; why it is necessary for a Christian Believer; its effects on various aspects related to Christian life and ministry; and how it benefits the Christian Believer – both materially and spiritually. From today we will see what are the things that keep us from truly worshiping God; and, therefore, from growing in our spiritual lives, from being useful for God, and from being benefited in our lives of faith.

    We have seen that worshiping and glorifying God is a very essential and blessed part of our relationship with God; one that fills our life with God’s abundant blessings, in this world as well as the next. Yet worshiping and glorifying God is something that is usually neither well understood nor properly done. The first obstacle that keeps people from truly worshiping God is their actually not knowing what worship really is. This lack of knowing manifests in various forms, and we will begin looking at them now.

    Generally, worshiping is often taken to be the same as either singing songs, or praying. Congregational singing of songs, with or without a choir is often seen and accepted as congregational worship in nearly all the denominational Churches. While singing songs is a way of worshiping God, but if it is done just by rote and ritualistically, or with the person’s mind and heart not being in it, then such meaningless worship does not qualify as the “worship in spirit and in truth” that God is looking for, and is vain. Worship, not just congregationally, but personal worship, as an individual, as a child of God coming before the heavenly father to praise and exalt Him, is essential in every Believer’s life, and is what God mainly desires. It is not unusual to find that during individual worship, i.e., after a few words of thanksgiving, many people start praying i.e., asking for things – even blessings upon others. Since, the basic difference that asking from God is praying, and giving to God is worshiping is often not well understood, therefore it is neither kept in mind nor practiced.

    Worshiping God is not a mere ritualistic fulfillment of religious traditions and procedures, it is not the formal carrying out of some prescribed religious activities. We see in Isaiah 1:11-20 that God rebukes His people, because they had fallen away from being obedient and reverential to God and slipped into ritualistically carrying out the prescribed feasts, offerings, and sacrifices. But this was not acceptable to God; in Isaiah 1:13-14 God calls these as ‘futile sacrifices’, ‘abominations’, ‘hateful’, ‘troublesome’, ‘things that weary Him’ and rejects them altogether. In Malachi 1:10 God yearns for someone who would close the doors of the places of worship so that people can no longer offer any vain worship. A similar situation was prevailing during the time of the Lord’s earthly ministry; ritualistic worship was being carried out in the Temple, without any reverence and commitment to God. The Lord cleansed the Temple twice – at the beginning of His ministry (John 2:14-16), and towards the end of His earthly ministry, even called the Temple, where all this was happening, a den of thieves instead of being a house of worship (Mark 11:15-17). Moreover, since the religious leaders had misinterpreted and misused God’s Word, to suit their convenience, and used their misinterpretations to teach and practice wrong things about following and worshiping God. The Lord Jesus called their worship of God as “vain worship” (Matthew 15:8-9).

    In the next article we will look at some more things, and continue about not knowing what true worship actually is. To offer true worship acceptable to God, a person has to belong to God. Today, a person belongs to God by voluntarily and with a sincere heart coming to faith in the Lord Jesus and His sacrifice on the Cross of Calvary, resurrection from the dead, and repentance from one’s sins (John 1:12-13).

    If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord Jesus, then to ensure your eternal life and heavenly rewards, take a decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now. Wherever there is surrender and obedience towards the Lord Jesus, the Lord’s blessings and safety are also there. If you are still not Born Again, have not obtained salvation, or have not asked the Lord Jesus for forgiveness for your sins, then you have the opportunity to do so right now. A short prayer said voluntarily with a sincere heart, with heartfelt repentance for your sins, and a fully submissive attitude, “Lord Jesus, I confess that I have disobeyed You, and have knowingly or unknowingly, in mind, in thought, in attitude, and in deeds, committed sins. I believe that you have fully borne the punishment of my sins by your sacrifice on the cross, and have paid the full price of those sins for all eternity. Please forgive my sins, change my heart and mind towards you, and make me your disciple, take me with you." God longs for your company and wants to see you blessed, but to make this possible, is your personal decision. Will you not say this prayer now, while you have the time and opportunity to do so – the decision is yours.

परिचय

    परमेश्वर की आराधना कलीसियाओं में, घर में, या किसी स्थान पर जमा होने के समय, और विभिन्न अवसरों तथा विभिन्न पर्वों एवं त्यौहारों पर की जाती है। लगभग प्रत्येक ईसाई या मसीही गतिविधि का आरंभ प्रार्थना तथा स्तुति के गीत गाने के साथ होता है। कलीसिया की सभा में भी, आरंभ में तथा बीच में स्तुति के कुछ गीत गाए जाते हैं। परमेश्वर की स्तुति के गीत गाने को सामान्यतः आराधना करना कहा तथा समझा जाता है। बहुत सी कलीसियाओं में उपस्थित लोगों से आराधना का करने के लिए कहना, सामान्यतः सभा में उपस्थित लोगों के द्वारा स्तुति का गीत गाना ही समझा और किया जाता है। इसलिए, गीत गाने को परमेश्वर की आराधना करने का एक बहुत आम और मान्य विधि समझा तथा माना जाता है।

    बहुत सी कलीसियाओं की सभाओं में इस गीत गाने के साथ लोग विभिन्न तरीकों से हिलते हैं और शारीरिक हावभाव भी प्रदर्शित करते हैं, और अकसर “आराधना के अगुवे” लोगों से यह करने के लिए कहते हैं, उपस्थित लोगों से ऐसा करवाते हैं, वे इस बात पर बल देते हैं कि यह हिलना, हावभाव और शारीरिक क्रियाएं करना भी परमेश्वर की आराधना करना है। कुछ “आराधना-अगुवे” इसे वाक्यांश “परमेश्वर चाहता है कि आप…करें” जोर देकर बोलने के द्वारा भी करवाते हैं; यद्यपि वास्तव में यह सब करना और करवाना वे स्वयं चाहते हैं, न कि परमेश्वर चाहता है। बहुत सी कलीसियाओं में “आराधना” करने के नाम पर लोग चिल्लाते हैं, शोर मचाते हैं, मुँह से अजीब और समझ न आने वाली आवाज़ें निकालते हैं, कुछ निरर्थक आवाज़ों को बारंबार दोहराते हैं, और इस सब को वे “अन्य-भाषा में आराधना”, अर्थात, परमेश्वर के साथ किसी अज्ञात अलौकिक भाषा में बात करना, परमेश्वर की “आराधना” करना कहते हैं, यद्यपि स्वयं उन्हें ही पता नहीं होता है कि उन्होंने क्या कहा है और उनके कहने का क्या अभिप्राय था।

    इस तरह, यद्यपि ईसाइयों या मसीहियों में आराधना करने की सामान्य प्रवृत्ति तो है, किन्तु आराधना के बारे में, आराधना क्या है की समझ के बारे में, आराधना किस प्रकार करनी है उस के बारे में, उनमें कोई समानता या एकता नहीं है। एक अन्य, अचरज में डालने वाली दुखद बात यह भी है कि अधिकांश मसीहियों को यह भी नहीं पता है कि उन्हें आराधना क्यों करनी है। उन के लिए तो जैसा उन्होंने अपनी कलीसियाओं में देखा है, वही करना कलीसिया की सभा अथवा उस प्रकार के अवसर या पर्व-त्यौहार का एक अभिन्न अंग है, इसलिए वे भी उसी प्रकार से “आराधना” करते हैं; अर्थात उनके लिए यह एक परंपरा का पालन करने या किसी रीति को पूरा करने से अधिक और कुछ नहीं है, और चाहे उनके मन और मस्तिष्क उसमें न भी हों, वे बस उसे कर देते हैं। अधिकांश लोगों के लिए आराधना का “क्यों” और “कैसे” अज्ञात है; क्योंकि उन्होंने यह होते हुए देखा है, इसलिए वे भी यही करते रहते हैं। न तो कभी किसी ने उन्हें आराधना के बारे में सिखाने का प्रयास किया; और न ही उन्होंने स्वयं भी आराधना के बारे में कुछ जानने तथा सीखने का प्रयास किया।

    प्रत्येक मसीही विश्वासी, प्रत्येक नया जन्म पाए हुए परमेश्वर की सन्तान को परमेश्वर का आराधक भी होना है; यह कोई वैकल्पिक बात नहीं है, वरन मसीही जीवन के लिए एक अनिवार्यता है। बाइबल का तथ्य यही है कि आराधना परमेश्वर द्वारा अपने बच्चों को दिया गया एक बहुत प्रबल हथियार है, जिस के द्वारा वे शैतान की युक्तियों पर विजयी जीवन जी सकें, उसकी शैतानी चालाकियों में फंस कर गिर न जाएँ। इन अन्त के दिनों में, जिन में हम जी रहे हैं, हम मसीहियों को इस सामर्थ्य और योग्यता की और भी बहुत अधिक आवश्यकता है। मसीही, इन परेशानियों से भरे दिनों में, आराधना के द्वारा ही अपने विश्वास में दृढ़ खड़े रह सकते हैं, परमेश्वर की महिमा कर सकते हैं, और एक प्रभावी गवाही को प्रस्तुत कर सकते हैं।

    आगे दिनों में हम परमेश्वर के वचन बाइबल से अध्ययन करेंगे कि आराधना वास्तव में क्या है, और परमेश्वर क्यों चाहता है कि उसके बच्चे उसके आराधक बनें, वे जो आत्मा और सच्चाई से उसकी आराधना करते हैं।

    क्योंकि बाइबल की शिक्षाओं के अनुसार की गई सच्ची आराधना, शैतान के विरुद्ध जयवन्त होने के लिये इतना सामर्थी हथियार है, इसलिये यदि आप अभी तक परमेश्वर की सन्तान नहीं हैं, यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। यदि आप ने अभी तक नया जन्म नहीं पाया है, उद्धार नहीं पाया है, या प्रभु यीशु से अभी तक अपने पापों के लिये सच्चे मन से क्षमा नहीं माँगी है, तो अभी आप के पास यह करने का अवसर है। स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से, प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए – उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

Introduction

    Worshipping God is something that is often done in Church services, in homes, or in places of gathering, on various occasions and at the time of various celebrations. Nearly every Christian activity starts with prayer followed by singing songs of praise. In Church services too, songs are sung at the beginning of the services and in between as well. The singing of songs of praise to God is taken to be or understood as worship. In many Churches, the call for the congregation to worship implies singing songs of praise, usually by the whole congregation. So, singing of songs is a very commonly understood way of worshipping God.

    In many Churches and congregations, this singing is often accompanied by different kinds of body movements and gestures, and very often the “worship leaders” say and make the congregation carry out those gestures, emphasizing that doing so is the way to worship God. Some worship leaders even do this with emphatically calling out the phrase “God wants you too…” and then speak out what actually they, not God, want the congregation to do. In many Churches, very often people shout and yell in the name of “worshipping” God, while others make unintelligible repetitive sounds, speak gibberish, calling it “worshipping in tongues”, i.e., allegedly speaking to God in some divine language, and call doing so “worshipping” God, although they themselves do not know what they have spoken or meant.

    In some other congregations at the call to worship, people read Bible text passages or read from the Psalms, or share some insights from God’s Word that they have received during their Quiet Time with God, while some may sing a song or offer a prayer or speak out something about God, about His characteristics, His works, the way they have experienced God work in their lives, etc.

    So, though there is a common tendency amongst Christians to Worship God, but yet there is no uniformity amongst them about the form of worship, about what worship actually is, about how to worship. A dismaying and sad fact is that most Christians do not even know why they should worship at all. To them worshipping God in the manner they have seen being done in their congregation or Church is something that is an integral part of the Church service, or of the service associated with a particular occasion or celebration, therefore they too “worship;” i.e., for them it is following a tradition or fulfilling a ritual, while their heart and mind may not be in it at all, yet they go through the motions of what they see others do. The actual “how” and “why” of worship is unknown to many; they do it because it is done, and do it in the manner they have seen it being done. Nobody has ever bothered to teach them about worship; nor have they ever bothered to learn for themselves what worship actually means.

    Every Christian Believer, every Born-Again child of God must also be a true worshipper of God; it is not an option, but a necessity of Christian life and living. The Biblical fact is that actual worship is a very powerful tool that God has given to His children to help them live an overcoming, victorious life over the wiles of Satan, and not fall prey to his devious schemes. In these end-times that we are living, we need this power and ability even more. It is through worship that Christians can defeat Satan, stand firm in their faith, glorify God, and effectively witness for Him even in these troubled times.

    In the days ahead, we will study from God’s Word the Bible what worship actually is and why God wants His children, His people to be His Worshippers, those who worship Him in Spirit and in Truth.

    Since true worship, when done in accordance with Biblical teachings, is such a powerful weapon to be victorious against Satan, therefore, if you are not yet a child of God, if you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord Jesus, then to ensure your eternal life and heavenly rewards, take a decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now. Wherever there is surrender and obedience towards the Lord Jesus, the Lord’s blessings and safety are also there.
