परमेश्वर के वचन में फेर-बदल – 20

 

पिछले कुछ लेखों से हम प्रत्येक वास्तव में नया-जन्म पाये हुए मसीही विश्वासी के, परमेश्वर की संतान के रूप में (यूहन्ना 1:12-13), परमेश्वर के वचन बाइबल का भण्डारी होने पर विचार कर रहे हैं। हमने देखा है कि परमेश्वर के वचन को भ्रष्ट करने और बिगाड़ने के शैतानी प्रयास पुराने नियम के समय से ही चले आ रहे हैं, जैसा कि प्रभु यीशु ने यशायाह से उद्धरण देते हुए फरीसियों और शास्त्रियों से कहा था (मत्ती 15:7-9); और इसी खण्ड से, तथा बाइबल के कुछ अन्य अंशों और प्रमाणों से हमने देखा है कि परमेश्वर के वचन को भ्रष्ट करने और बिगाड़ने के लिए, शैतान ने मुख्य रूप से धार्मिक अगुवों तथा परमेश्वर के वचन के शिक्षकों और प्रचारकों को ही उपयोग किया है। शैतान अपनी इस युक्ति को बहुत चतुराई से और लगभग हमेशा ही, इन बुद्धिमान और विद्वान लोगों द्वारा पवित्रशास्त्र के लेखों की उनकी अपनी "ज्ञानपूर्ण" व्याख्याओं, खुलासों, और शिक्षाओं के रूप में कार्यान्वित करता है। उन्हें यह एहसास भी नहीं हो पाता है कि अपने उद्देश्यों को पूरा करने के लिए, शैतान कैसे उनका दुरुपयोग कर रहा है; वह उनसे गलत व्याख्याओं, त्रुटिपूर्ण खुलासों, और पवित्रशास्त्र के सत्यों और तथ्यों से असंगत, उनकी मनगढ़ंत शिक्षाओं का प्रचार करवाता रहता है।

शैतान एक बहुत ही चालाक और कुटिल तरीके से इसे अंजाम देता है; वह उनसे बाइबल के सही लेखों का गलत तरीके से उपयोग करवाता है। शैतान उनसे उन लेखों के ऐसे अर्थ और निहितार्थ प्रचार करवाता है जो उन लेखों के लिए, जब वे शुरू में लिखे गए थे, तब न तो कभी दिये गये थे और न ही कभी दिये जाने थे। इस तरह से, शैतान उन लेखों के वास्तविक मूल अर्थ और उपयोग को तो हटा देता है, और बाइबल के उस सही लेख का, उन लोगों के द्वारा, गलत और अनुचित अर्थ के साथ और गलत तरह से प्रयोग करवाता है। इस प्रकार वे अनजाने में ही व्यवस्थाविवरण 4:2; नीतिवचन 30:6, और प्रकाशितवाक्य 22:18-19 के निर्देश के अनाज्ञाकारी होने के दोषी बन जाते हैं। मण्डली के सरलता से भरमाए जा सकने वाले लोग, क्योंकि वे आमतौर से स्वयं कोई गंभीर बाइबल अध्ययन नहीं करते हैं, और इसीलिये वे सामान्यतः उसी पर निर्भर रहती है जो मंच (pulpit) से बोला जाता है; वे, जो कुछ भी प्रचार किया और सिखाया जाता है, उस सब को बिना कोई सवाल किए स्वीकार कर लेते हैं। और इस प्रकार वे प्रेरितों के काम 17:11, 1 कुरिन्थियों 14:29, और 1 थिस्सलुनीकियों 5:21 के निर्देशों के अनाज्ञाकारी ठहरते हैं।

 

समस्या तब और गम्भीर हो जाती है जब इन प्रचारकों और शिक्षकों के नेक इरादे वाले, लेकिन उन पर अंध-विश्वास रखने वाले अनुयायी, इन गलत व्याख्याओं, त्रुटिपूर्ण खुलासों और पवित्रशास्त्र के सत्यों और तथ्यों से असंगत, उन लोगों की मनगढ़ंत शिक्षाओं को, बिना पहले जांचे और परखे दूसरों तक फैलाते हैं। इससे, अंध-विश्वास करने वाले ये अनुयायी, न केवल अनजाने में परमेश्वर के वचन में फेर-बदल करने में सहभागी बन जाते हैं, बल्कि किसी भी बात को स्वीकार करने से पहले हर बात की पुष्टि करने के परमेश्वर के निर्देश की अनाज्ञाकारिता करके, वे गलत और अनुचित शिक्षाओं को फैलाने के भी दोषी बन जाते हैं। इससे भी बुरा यह कि, उनका यह अंधानुकरण और त्रुटियों का प्रचार करना, उन्हें नए, अपरिपक्व, और भोले विश्वासियों के लिए ठोकर का कारण बनाता है; और उन्हें उन गंभीर परिणामों के लिए उत्तरदायी बनाता है जिनकी प्रभु यीशु ने मत्ती 18:6 और मरकुस 9:42 में चेतावनी दी थी।

हमने इन लेखों में देखा है कि परमेश्वर ने अपने प्रत्येक बच्चे को किसी भी समय, किसी भी बात के लिए, बिना किसी रोकटोक के, परमेश्वर तक पहुँचने का एक खुला और निर्बाध विशेषाधिकार दिया है (रोमियों 5:1-2; इफिसियों 2:18; 3:12)। साथ ही, प्रभु यीशु ने स्पष्ट रूप से कहा है कि प्रार्थना में परमेश्वर के पास आने के समय, हमारे शब्द व्यर्थ के दोहराए जाने वाले शब्द नहीं होने चाहिएँ; बल्कि वे सीमित और मुद्दे के अनुसार होने चाहिए; और हमें सीधे एक सरल और स्पष्ट तरीके से परमेश्वर को "हे हमारे पिता" के रूप में संबोधित करना चाहिए (मत्ती 6:7-9)। फिर भी कुछ लोग, जानबूझकर और प्रभु की और उनके वचन की घोर अनाज्ञाकारिता करते हुए, अपनी प्रार्थनाओं या आराधना की शुरुआत में, और उनके दौरान भी, बार-बार 'शैतान को बांधना,' 'यीशु के लहू को लगाना,' 'स्वयं को, या बातों को यीशु के लहू के नीचे ढाँपना,' 'यीशु के लहू के द्वारा प्रार्थना या आराधना के लिए परमेश्वर के पास आना,' और 'यीशु के क्रूस को लगाना,' आदि शब्दों और वाक्यांशों का उपयोग करते रहते हैं। हमने बाइबल के तथ्यों के आधार पर देखा है कि इन अभिव्यक्तियों का उनके द्वारा बोलना, और रटे हुए स्वरूप में बार-बार कहते रहना, न तो किसी भी तरह से प्रभावशाली, और न ही श्रद्धापूर्ण होता है। बल्कि, यह परमेश्वर का अपमान करता है, और कई तरीकों से परमेश्वर के चरित्र और गुणों पर प्रहार करता है; और इसलिए यह करना वास्तव में शैतानी है। आज हम परमेश्वर के वचन के इस चालाक और कुटिल दुरुपयोग के बारे में कुछ और निष्कर्ष देखेंगे।

अय्यूब 35:13 पर विचार करें, और इस पर गहराई से सोचें। इस पद के प्रकाश में, और अन्यथा भी, लोग यह क्यों मान लेते हैं कि परमेश्वर उनके अधीन है और उनके प्रति बाध्य है, कि न केवल उनकी हर बात को सुने, बल्कि उसे स्वीकार भी करे, और फिर उनकी हर बात पर सकारात्मक प्रतिक्रिया दे—चाहे उनकी वह बात सच हो या झूठ, चाहे वह बात अनुचित हो या उचित, चाहे वह बात तार्किक हो या मनगढ़ंत, यानी कि बाइबल से सम्बन्धित उपरोक्त शब्दों और वाक्यांशों का उपयोग करके, परमेश्वर से कही गई हर एक बात को, परमेश्वर को ग्रहण करना ही पड़ेगा - क्यों? हमें यह याद रखने की आवश्यकता है कि प्रभु यीशु ने हमें चेतावनी दी है कि हम अपने द्वारा बोले गए हर एक निकम्मे शब्द के लिए जवाबदेह होंगे (मत्ती 12:36-37); और हमारा न्याय किसी व्यक्ति के कहे गये उन शब्दों से नहीं होगा जो हमें प्रचार किए गए और सिखाए गए, और जिन्हें हमने आंख मूंदकर स्वीकार कर लिया था; बल्कि प्रभु यीशु द्वारा पहले से बोले गए वचन के द्वारा होगा (यूहन्ना 12:49-49)।

उन्हें यह एहसास करना चाहिए कि परमेश्वर के मार्ग मनुष्य के मार्ग नहीं हैं (यशायाह 55:8-9); और परमेश्वर हमें भक्ति और श्रद्धा के उस ढोंग के आधार पर नहीं परखेंगे जो हम दिखाते हैं; जबकि हम जानबूझकर उस के वचन की गलत व्याख्या और दुरुपयोग कर रहे हैं, हठपूर्वक त्रुटि में जी रहे हैं, दूसरों को त्रुटि डालकर गुमराह कर रहे हैं, और परमेश्वर को कलंकित कर रहे हैं। बल्कि वह हमें हमारे हृदयों की कठोरता और हठ के आधार पर परखेगा; और यह धर्मियों के लिए भी उतना ही सत्य है (भजन संहिता 7:9; यिर्मयाह 11:20; 17:10; 20:12)। इसलिए परमेश्वर के वचन के साथ असंगत बातों पर अड़े रहने और उनका प्रचार करने के लिए वे चाहे जो भी स्पष्टीकरण या बहाना दें, वह भी इसके बारे में चेतावनी दिए जाने के बावजूद, परन्तु उन्हें हिसाब तो देना होगा; उन्हें इसकी कीमत तो चुकानी होगी।

अगले लेख में हम स्पष्ट रूप से बताए गए बाइबल के संकेतों को देखेंगे जो हमें यह पहचानने में मदद कर सकते हैं कि क्या कोई व्यक्ति गुमराह होने और दूसरों को भी गुमराह करने में शैतान की चालों में फंस गया है?

यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। स्वेच्छा से अपने पापों के लिये पश्चाताप करके, प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु, मैं अपने पापों के लिए पश्चातापी हूँ, उनके लिए आप से क्षमा माँगता हूँ। मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मुझे और मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

Altering God’s Word - 20

 

Over the past few articles, we have been considering the stewardship of every truly Born-Again Christian Believer, as a child of God (John 1:12-13), towards God’s Word the Bible. We have seen that satanic attempts at corrupting and distorting God’s Word have been going on since Old Testament times, as the Lord Jesus pointed out to the Pharisees and Scribes in quoting from Isaiah (Matthew 15:7-9); and through this same passage, along with some other Biblical passages and evidences, we have seen that to implement corruption and distortion of God’s Word, Satan has mainly used the religious leaders and the teachers and preachers of God’s Word. Satan does this very slyly, nearly always as “knowledgeable” interpretations, expositions, and teachings of Scriptural texts by these wise and learned people; without their being aware of how he is misusing them to accomplish his purposes, through actually misinterpretations, incorrect expositions, and preaching contrived teachings inconsistent with the overall Scriptural truth and facts.

A very subtle and devious way that Satan gets this done is to have them use the correct Biblical texts, but give them meanings and implications that were never given or intended for those texts, when they were initially written. Thereby, Satan takes away their actual meaning and use, and uses them to add incorrect and unintended meanings and applications to that Biblically correct text. Thus, they inadvertently become guilty of disobeying Deuteronomy 4:2; Proverbs 30:6, and Revelation 22:18-19. The gullible members of the congregation, since they usually do not engage in any serious Bible study for themselves, generally rely on whatever is spoken from the pulpit, accepts whatever is preached and taught unquestioningly; and thus they become guilty of disobeying the instructions of Acts 17:11, 1 Corinthians 14:29, and 1 Thessalonians 5:21. 

The problem is compounded when the followers, though well-intentioned but having a blind-faith on these preachers and teachers, propagate these misinterpretations, incorrect expositions, and contrived teachings that are inconsistent with the overall Scriptural truth and facts, to others without first checking and verifying them. This not only makes these well-meaning followers having a blind-faith, the inadvertent accomplices of altering God’s Word, but also guilty of spreading error by being disobedient of God’s instruction to verify everything before accepting it. Even worse, their blind following and propagation of errors, makes them the stumbling blocks for the new, immature, and gullible believers; and makes them liable for the grave consequences the Lord Jesus warned of in Matthew 18:6 and Mark 9:42.

We have seen in these articles that God has given the privilege of an open and unhindered authority of freely accessing God at any time, for anything, to every child of God (Romans 5:1-2; Ephesians 2:18; 3:12). Also, the Lord Jesus has categorically stated that in coming to God in prayer, our words should not be vain repetitions but be few and to the point; and we should address God directly in a simple straightforward manner as “Our Father” (Matthew 6:7-9). Yet some people, deliberately and in stark disobedience to the Lord and His Word, repetitively use words and phrases like, ‘binding Satan,’ ‘applying the blood of Jesus,’ ‘covering themselves, or covering things under the blood of Jesus,’ ‘coming to God for prayer or worship through the blood of Jesus,’ and ‘applying the Cross of Jesus,’ etc. in opening and also in their prayers or worship. We have seen on the basis of Biblical facts, that their repetitively parroting these expressions is neither efficacious in any way, nor is it reverential. Rather, it insults God and attacks the very character and characteristics of God in many ways; and therefore, is actually satanic. Today we will be drawing some more conclusions about this subtle devious mismanagement of God’s Word.

Consider Job 35:13, and think it over. In light of this verse, and even otherwise, why should people assume that God is subordinate and obligated to them to not only listen to whatever they say, but also accept it, and then respond positively to everything they have said - whether what they said is true or false, whether foul or fair, whether logical or contrived, i.e., any and everything said to God using the aforementioned Biblical terms and phrases, God must accept - why? We need to remember that the Lord Jesus has cautioned us, that we will be accountable for every idle word that we speak (Matthew 12:36-37); and we will be judged not by some person’s words that were preached and taught to us, which we had blindly accepted; but by the Word already spoken by the Lord Jesus (John 12:49-49). 

In this context, there is another very prevalent vanity amongst those who use these vain words and phrases, used more for face-saving than anything else by them. Though these blind-faith followers, never diligently studied and verified from the Scriptures whether what is being said by their favorite preacher is true and acceptable, instead they readily accepted it, and started following and propagating it as an irrefutable fact. But now, when faced with the Scriptural evidence against their erroneous assumption and wrong decision, they keep dilly-dallying, to put aside the wrong and accept the right decision. They procrastinate on grounds of “praying about it,” “studying about it,” “pondering over it,” “verifying what has been said,” etc. How naive - they immediately and unquestioningly accepted a wrong teaching that was without a shred of Biblical evidence. But their accepting the error, despite ample Scriptural evidence being provided, remains unacceptable to them. They should ponder over and learn from Paul’s conversion on the road to Damascus not only did he immediately accept the one he was opposing as “Lord” and obeyed Him (Acts 9:5-6), but also immediately changed his stand a full 180° and started preaching the Lord Jesus (Acts 9:19-22). Later, in his letter to the Philippians, he calls the zeal, righteousness, and knowledge he was relying upon earlier, as “rubbish” (Philippians 3:8). Contrary to Paul, these blind followers would rather offend and insult God, than offend and insult their favorite preacher.

They should realize that God's ways are not man's ways (Isaiah 55:8-9); and God will not judge us by the pretense of piety and reverence that we put up, while deliberately misinterpreting and misusing His Word, obstinately living in error, misleading others into error, and denigrating God. But he will judge us by the hardness and obstinacy of our hearts; and this holds true for even the righteous (Psalm 7:9; Jeremiah 11:20; 17:10; 20:12). Therefore, no matter what explanation or excuse they offer, there will be an accounting, there will be a price to pay for adamantly persisting in that which is inconsistent with God's Word, and propagating it; that too despite having been warned about it. 

In the next article we will see the clearly spelled out Biblical indicators that can help us discern if a person has fallen for Satan’s ploys in being misguided and also misleading others.

If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord, make your decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now to ensure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Repenting of your sins, and asking the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily and sincerely, surrendering yourself to Him - is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life.  Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.

पवित्र आत्मा की अगुवाई में प्रेरित पौलुस ने कुरिन्थुस की कलीसिया को यह पत्री लिखी, उनके मसीही विश्वास और जीवन में घुस आई बहुत सी गलत बातों और शिक्षाओं की ओर उनका ध्यान खींचने और सुधारने का मार्ग बताने के लिए। उनके मसीही विश्वास और जीवन का ऐसा कोई क्षेत्र नहीं था जो शैतान की बातों से अछूता रहा हो; उसने अपनी गलत शिक्षाओं और झूठे सिद्धांतों के द्वारा उनके मसीही जीवन के हर पक्ष को बिगाड़ दिया था, भ्रष्ट कर दिया था; प्रभु भोज में सम्मिलित होना भी इसी प्रकार से शैतान द्वारा बिगाड़ दिया गया था। पौलुस ने इस विषय - मसीही विश्वासी के द्वारा प्रभु भोज में सम्मिलित होना, को 1 कुरिन्थियों 11:17 से लिया है। वह इसमें हो रही गलतियों को बताता है, उन्हें प्रभु की मेज़ के बारे में सिखाता है, और बताता है कि उन गलतियों को किस प्रकार सुधारा जाए।

पौलुस, यहाँ पर पद 17 का आरंभ एक विचित्र वाक्य “परन्तु यह आज्ञा देते हुए, मैं तुम्हें नहीं सराहता,...” के साथ करता है; पौलुस परमेश्वर के वचन और मसीही विश्वास के प्रति बहुत खरा और स्पष्टवादी था। हम इस अध्याय के आरंभ में, पद 2 में देखते हैं कि वह उन लोगों की सराहना कर रहा है क्योंकि वे उसे याद रखते थे और जो ‘व्यवहार’ उसने उन्हें सिखाए थे, उन्हें धारण भी किए हुए थे। लेकिन क्योंकि वे लोग उसके प्रति स्नेह और आदर का रवैया रखते थे, इसका यह अर्थ नहीं था कि वह उनकी त्रुटियों और बुराइयों की अनदेखी कर देगा। उसकी जवाबदेही प्रभु परमेश्वर के प्रति थी, किसी मनुष्य या मनुष्यों के किसी समुदाय के प्रति नहीं। पौलुस की पहली प्राथमिकता थी कि वह यह सुनिश्चित करे कि मसीही विश्वासियों में परमेश्वर के वचन का पालन, उसका अनुसरण हो रहा है कि नहीं, जैसा कि वह इस अध्याय के पहले पद में अभिप्राय देता है। यदि कहीं पर कोई समझौता था, कोई दुरुपयोग, किसी गलत रीति से व्याख्या या कोई गलतफहमी, तो तुरन्त ही उसके साथ व्यवहार करने और उसे सुधारे जाने की आवश्यकता था, किसी भी कीमत पर; उसके ऐसा करने के विषय चाहे कोई भी कुछ भी कहे अथवा सोचे। वह कुरिन्थुस के मसीही विश्वासियों को पहले ही बता चुका था कि वह उन से अपने आत्मिक बच्चों के समान व्यवहार कर रहा था, और उन्हें सुधारने के लिए जो भी आवश्यक हो, वह करने के लिए तैयार था - सिर्फ उलाहना देना ही नहीं, यदि आवश्यक हो तो छड़ी उठाने के लिए भी तैयार था (1 कुरिन्थियों 4:14-21); क्योंकि पौलुस ने उनके मध्य डेढ़-वर्ष तक परिश्रम किया था, उन्हें परमेश्वर का वचन सिखाया था (प्रेरितों 18:1, 11)। इसलिए प्रभु भोज में भाग लेने से संबंधित गलतियों को संबोधित करने वाले इस खण्ड के आरंभ ही में, हमें पहली शिक्षा मिलती है, विशेषकर कलीसिया के अगुवों, वचन के प्रचारकों और शिक्षकों के लिए - प्रभु और उसके वचन को आदर देने वाले बनें, न कि किसी व्यक्ति अथवा व्यक्तियों को। विनम्र रहें, किन्तु कोई समझौता नहीं करें, कोई पक्षपात नहीं, और खरे तथा स्पष्टवादी रहें। कलीसिया की बढ़ोतरी एवं उन्नति के लिए ही गलतियों को दिखा कर उन्हें सुधारने का मार्ग बताएं।

फिर, इसी पद के दूसरे भाग में, उनकी गलतियों को एक-एक करके बताने से पहले, वह उन्हें उनके किए के परिणाम से अवगत करवाता है “...इसलिये कि तुम्हारे इकट्ठे होने से भलाई नहीं, परन्तु हानि होती है” - उनका प्रभु की मेज़ में भाग लेने के लिए एकत्रित होना, उन्हें कोई लाभ पहुँचाने के स्थान पर, वास्तविकता में, उनकी हानि कर रहा था, और वह इस बात को सुधारना चाहता था। एक बार फिर हम यहाँ पर उसकी पिता के समान उनके लिए चिंता करने को देखते हैं, कि उसके आत्मिक बच्चों को किसी प्रकार की कोई हानि नहीं होनी चाहिए। पौलुस उनसे कह रहा है कि वह उनकी नुक्ताचीनी नहीं कर रहा है, उनमें दोष ढूँढने और दिखाने के लिए बातें नहीं बना रहा है, और न ही वह किसी भी रीति से उन्हें अपमानित करना या नीचा दिखाना चाहता है। वो इन बातों को केवल इस उद्देश्य से उन से कह रहा है क्योंकि उनकी त्रुटियाँ उनके लिए बुराइयाँ उत्पन्न कर रही थीं - न केवल आत्मिक बल्कि शारीरिक हानि भी उत्पन्न कर रही थीं, जैसा कि हम इस अध्याय के अंत की ओर लिखा हुआ पाते हैं। यह हमें दूसरी शिक्षा पर लाता है - एक बार फिर से, विशेषकर कलीसिया के अगुवों, वचन के प्रचारकों और शिक्षकों के लिए - ईमानदार और भली मनसा रखने वाले बने रहो; व्यक्ति अथवा कलीसिया को सुधारने की मनसा केवल उसकी बढ़ोतरी और उन्नति के दृष्टिकोण ही से रखो, न कि अपने हठधर्मी होने के कारण, या किसी से हिसाब बराबर करने के लिए, या अपने आत्मिक अधिकार और ओहदे को जताने के लिए (1 पतरस 5:1-4)।

The Lord’s Table - Correct People Only for Edification (1)

The Apostle Paul, under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, wrote this letter to the Church at Corinth to point out and show them the way to correct the many false practices about their Christian faith that had come up amongst them. There was no area of Christian Faith and living that had been left untouched by Satan, he had corrupted every aspect of their Christian life and brought in his wrong teachings and false doctrines; their participation in the Lord’s Table too had been corrupted by Satan. In 1 Corinthians 11:17 onwards, Paul takes up this topic - Christian Believer’s partaking of the Holy Communion; he points out their mistakes and errors, and instructs them about the Lord’s Table and about correcting their errors and mistakes.

Paul begins verse 17 with a peculiar sentence, “Now in giving these instructions I do not praise you…”; Paul was very forthright and straightforward about things related to the Christian Faith and God’s Word. We see at the beginning of this chapter, in verse 2, that he is praising them for remembering him and for keeping the traditions or ordinances that he had delivered to them. But this did not mean that he would overlook their short-comings in response to their affectionate and obedient attitude towards him. His accountability was to the Lord God, not any person or group of persons, nor any Church or Assembly. Paul’s first priority was to ensure that God’s Word was being followed, as he implies in verse 1 of this chapter. If there was any compromise, any misapplication, mishandling, misuse, or misunderstanding about God’s Word, that had to be handled and corrected, he did it straightaway, at any cost; whatever anyone may say or feel about his doing it. He had already pointed out to the Corinthian Believers earlier that he was dealing with them as his spiritual children, and was willing to do whatever was necessary to correct them - not just admonish, but even use a rod if necessary (1 Corinthians 4:14-21); for Paul had labored amongst the Corinthians for a year and a half, teaching them the Word of God (Acts 18:1, 11). So, right in the beginning of the section of this letter dealing with errors in partaking in the Holy Communion, we have the first teaching, especially for elders, preachers, and teachers in the Lord’s Church - be the one who respects the Lord and His Word, instead of being those who respect people or any person. Be gentle, but be uncompromising, impartial, and forthright; point out and correct errors for the growth and edification of the Church.

Then, in the second half of this verse, before pin-pointing the errors, he points out to them the overall consequences of what they were doing “...since you come together not for the better but for the worse” - their gathering together for the Lord’s Table, instead of benefitting them, was in fact causing them harm, and he wanted to correct that. We again see a fatherly concern, that his spiritual children should not come to any harm. Paul is telling them that he is not nit-picking on them; he is not doing it to humiliate them or put them down in any way. But he is pointing these things out to them to help and benefit them, since their errors were turning out to be counterproductive for their lives - spiritually as well as physically, as we see stated towards the end of this chapter. That brings to us the second lesson, again, especially for elders, preachers, and teachers in the Lord’s Church - be sincere and well-meaning; correct for the growth and edification of the person or the Church, instead of just being dogmatic, or settling scores with someone, or simply to assert your spiritual authority (1 Peter 5:1-4).

In the next article, moving ahead, we will see the other teachings given in this portion.

A short prayer said voluntarily with a sincere heart, with heartfelt repentance for your sins, and a fully submissive attitude, “Lord Jesus, I confess that I have disobeyed You, and have knowingly or unknowingly, in mind, in thought, in attitude, and in deeds, committed sins. I believe that you have fully borne the punishment of my sins by your sacrifice on the cross, and have paid the full price of those sins for all eternity. Please forgive my sins, change my heart and mind towards you, and make me your disciple, take me with you." God longs for your company and wants to see you blessed, but to make this possible, is your personal decision. Will you not say this prayer now, while you have the time and opportunity to do so - the decision is yours.

पहला स्तंभ - वचन में लौलीन (2)

पिछले लेख से हमने प्रेरितों 2:38-42 में दिए गए सच्चे मसीही विश्वासियों के सात गुणों में से, पद 42 में दिए गए चार गुणों पर एक-एक करके विचार करना आरम्भ किया है। पद 42 में दिये गए चार गुणों का निर्वाह आरम्भिक मसीही विश्वासी "लौलीन" होकर किया करते थे। परिणामस्वरूप विश्वासी और कलीसियाएँ सँख्या एवं विश्वास में बढ़ते चले गए। इन चार गुणों में से पहला है परमेश्वर के वचन की शिक्षा पाना। पिछले लेख में हमने देखा था कि क्योंकि उस समय के धर्म के अगुवों ने परमेश्वर के वचन को भ्रष्ट कर दिया था, इसलिए प्रभु ने अपना वचन सिखाने की ज़िम्मेदारी अपने प्रतिबद्ध सच्चे शिष्यों को सौंपी थी। जिन्हें यह ज़िम्मेदारी सौंपी गई थी, वे इसका निर्वाह पूरी लग्न से, तथा इसे अपने जीवनों में प्राथमिकता देने के साथ करते थे। आज हम वचन की शिक्षा देने और प्राप्त करने स सम्बन्धित बातों पर कुछ और विचार करेंगे। 

ध्यान कीजिए, प्रभु ने कभी भी, कहीं भी, अपने शिष्यों से यह नहीं कहा कि "भले बनो, भलाई करो, भलाई की बातें सिखाओ, और तब परमेश्वर तुम्हारे साथ रहेगा" की शिक्षा दें। प्रभु ने अपने शिष्यों से सुसमाचार प्रचार करने के लिए कहा, उसकी बातें संसार के लोगों को सिखाने के लिए कहा (प्रेरितों 1:8)। लोगों को परमेश्वर और उसके वचन से भटकाने और उन्हें उनके पापों में फँसाए रखने के लिए शैतान ने ही यह प्रभु के वचन और प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता में “लौलीन रहने” के स्थान पर “भले बनो, भला करो” का ‘मंत्र’ लोगों में डाला है। भले बनना और भला करना अच्छा है, किन्तु इसे परमेश्वर के वचन और उसकी आज्ञाकारिता के स्थान पर रख देना अच्छा नहीं, घातक है। सीधी सी आधारभूत बात है कि जो प्रभु परमेश्वर के वचन के आज्ञाकारी रहेंगे, वे स्वतः ही भले भी हो जाएंगे, और भलाई भी करेंगे। किन्तु भले बनने और भलाई करने से कोई प्रभु के वचन को नहीं सीख अथवा सिखा सकता है; शैतान प्राथमिकताओं की अदला-बदली करने के द्वारा लोगों को बहका और भरमा देता है, परमेश्वर और उसके वचन से दूर ले जाता है। ध्यान कीजिए, संसार का पहला पाप था परमेश्वर के वचन, उसके द्वारा दिए गए निर्देश की अनाज्ञाकारिता करना; और हव्वा से यह पाप करवाने के लिए शैतान ने उसके मन में परमेश्वर के वचन, उसके निर्देशों की सार्वभौमिकता और भलाई के प्रति संदेह उत्पन्न किया। आज भी शैतान इसी कुटिलता का ऐसे ही प्रयोग करता है - परमेश्वर के वचन और आज्ञाकारिता से ध्यान भटका कर, उनके प्रति संदेह उत्पन्न कर के, अपनी बातों में फँसा लेता है, पाप में गिरा देता है।

कनान देश में प्रवेश करने से ठीक पहले परमेश्वर ने यहोशू से कहा, इतना हो कि तू हियाव बान्धकर और बहुत दृढ़ हो कर जो व्यवस्था मेरे दास मूसा ने तुझे दी है उन सब के अनुसार करने में चौकसी करना; और उस से न तो दाहिने मुड़ना और न बांए, तब जहां जहां तू जाएगा वहां वहां तेरा काम सफल होगा। व्यवस्था की यह पुस्तक तेरे चित्त से कभी न उतरने पाए, इसी में दिन रात ध्यान दिए रहना, इसलिये कि जो कुछ उस में लिखा है उसके अनुसार करने की तू चौकसी करे; क्योंकि ऐसा ही करने से तेरे सब काम सफल होंगे, और तू प्रभावशाली होगा। क्या मैं ने तुझे आज्ञा नहीं दी? हियाव बान्धकर दृढ़ हो जा; भय न खा, और तेरा मन कच्चा न हो; क्योंकि जहां जहां तू जाएगा वहां वहां तेरा परमेश्वर यहोवा तेरे संग रहेगा (यहोशू 1:7-9)। और कनान देश में इस्राएलियों को बसाने के बाद यहोशू ने अंत में आकर लोगों से कहा, इसलिये अब यहोवा का भय मानकर उसकी सेवा खराई और सच्चाई से करो; और जिन देवताओं की सेवा तुम्हारे पुरखा महानद के उस पार और मिस्र में करते थे, उन्हें दूर कर के यहोवा की सेवा करो। और यदि यहोवा की सेवा करनी तुम्हें बुरी लगे, तो आज चुन लो कि तुम किस की सेवा करोगे, चाहे उन देवताओं की जिनकी सेवा तुम्हारे पुरखा महानद के उस पार करते थे, और चाहे एमोरियों के देवताओं की सेवा करो जिनके देश में तुम रहते हो; परन्तु मैं तो अपने घराने समेत यहोवा की सेवा नित करूंगा (यहोशू 24:14-15)।

यदि आप एक मसीही विश्वासी हैं तो ध्यान रखिए कि आत्मिक ‘कनान देश’ - प्रभु की आशीषों, सुरक्षा, और संगति में प्रवेश करने वाले प्रत्येक ‘इस्राएली’ अर्थात प्रभु के जन के लिए इसी प्रकार से प्रभु के वचन में स्थिर और दृढ़ बने रहना अनिवार्य है। ऐसा करने से, जैसा यहोवा ने यहोशू को प्रतिज्ञा दी, वैसे ही मसीही विश्वासी के लिए भी, “तब जहां जहां तू जाएगा वहां वहां तेरा काम सफल होगा”; “ऐसा ही करने से तेरे सब काम सफल होंगे, और तू प्रभावशाली होगा”; जहां जहां तू जाएगा वहां वहां तेरा परमेश्वर यहोवा तेरे संग रहेगा। प्रभु यीशु मसीह ने कहा है कि उसके वचन से व्यक्ति का प्रेम और आज्ञाकारिता ही व्यक्ति के प्रभु से प्रेम का माप है, वास्तविक सूचक है (यूहन्ना 14:21, 23)। प्रभु द्वारा दिए गए इस माप-दण्ड के आधार पर आज आप वचन की शिक्षा के संदर्भ में कहाँ खड़े हैं? अभी समय और अवसर है, जो आवश्यक हैं, अपने जीवन में वे सुधार कर लीजिए, जिससे कल की किसी बड़ी हानि की संभावना से बच सकें।

The First Pillar - Steadfast in God’s Word (2)

We have seen that in Acts 2:38-42, seven characteristics of a true Christian Believer have been given, the last four being in verse 42. Since the last article we have begun to see the four characteristics given in verse 42 one by one. The initial Christian Believers used to follow these four characteristics "steadfastly." Consequently, the Believers and Churches continued to grow and be edified in the faith. The first of these four characteristics is learning the Word of God. We had seen in the previous article that the religious leaders of that time had corrupted the Word of God; therefore, the Lord had entrusted the responsibility of teaching His Word to His true and committed disciples. Those who were given this responsibility, carried it out with sincere dedication, and gave it a priority in their lives. Today we will continue with this topic and see some other things related to teaching and learning God's Word.

Take note, the Lord never ever told the disciples to preach and teach to "be good, do good, teach about doing good things, and thereby the Lord God will be with you." The Lord asked His disciples to preach and propagate the gospel, to teach the things of the gospel to the world and He would be with them always (Matthew 28:18-20; Acts 1:8). To mislead people away from the truths of God’s Word, and keep them entangled in their sins, Satan has supplanted the Lord’s teaching of “continued steadfastly” with the notion of “do good, be good, teach being good.” There is nothing wrong in being good, doing good, and asking others to do the same; but to allow this to replace God’s Word, its teachings and obedience to God’s Word is not good, rather is destructive and fatal. The simple, straightforward, basic fact is that those who will be obedient to the Lord God and His Word, will also automatically become good, and do good to others; but by being good and doing good none has ever been able to learn or teach God’s Word. Satan just ‘puts the cart before the horse’ and misleads people away from the Lord and His Word. Remember, the first sin committed in the world was disobeying God’s Word; and to entice Eve into committing this sin, Satan made her doubt God, His Word, His sovereign authority, and God’s desire to give them the best. Even today, Satan still uses the same devious ploy - distracts people away from God’s Word and its obedience, creates doubts in their minds about God and His Word, entangles the gullible in his smooth talk, and makes them fall into sin.

Just before the Israelites were to enter Canaan, God said to Joshua, Only be strong and very courageous, that you may observe to do according to all the law which Moses My servant commanded you; do not turn from it to the right hand or to the left, that you may prosper wherever you go. This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success. Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go" (Joshua 1:7-9). After the Israelites had been settled in Canaan, Joshua said to the Israelites Now therefore, fear the Lord, serve Him in sincerity and in truth, and put away the gods which your fathers served on the other side of the River and in Egypt. Serve the Lord! And if it seems evil to you to serve the Lord, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord (Joshua 24:14-15).

If you are a Christian Believer, then take note that to enter the Spiritual “Canaan” i.e., the blessings, fellowship, and security of the Lord God, every “Israelite”, i.e., the Christian Believer, the member of the Lord’s Church, has to similarly stay firm and grounded in the Word of God. When you do this, then as Joshua promised the Israelites, similarly for the Christian Believers too then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success. Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go. The Lord Jesus Christ has said that the true measure of a person’s love for the Lord God is his love for God’s Word (John 14:21, 23). Evaluate and measure yourself on the basis of this yard-stick given by the Lord, and see where you stand. This is the time and opportunity that God has given you to correct everything that needs to be set right, so that you will not fall into a terrible and irreversible loss later.

If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord Jesus, then take a decision in its favor now to secure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. The Lord's security and blessings are present where there is obedience of the Lord, where His Word is honored and followed. If you are still not Born Again, have not obtained salvation, or have not asked the Lord Jesus for forgiveness for your sins, then you have the time and opportunity to do so right now. Ask the Lord Jesus to forgive your sins, and voluntarily and sincerely surrender yourselves into His hands - this is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. All you have to do is say a short prayer, voluntarily and with a sincere heart, with heartfelt repentance for your sins, and a fully submissive attitude. You can do this in this manner, “Lord Jesus, I confess that I have disobeyed You, and have knowingly or unknowingly, in mind, in thought, in attitude, and in deeds, committed sins. I believe that you have fully borne the punishment of my sins by your sacrifice on the cross, and have paid the full price of those sins for all eternity. Please forgive my sins, change my heart and mind towards you, and make me your disciple, take me with you." God longs for your company and wants to see you blessed, but to make this possible, is your personal decision. One prayer said with a sincere and surrendered heart will turn your present and future, your life here on earth and in the next world, forever and make you heavenly and blessed. Will you not say this prayer now, while you have the time and opportunity to do so? The decision is yours.

मसीही जीवन के चार स्तम्भ - 3 - प्रभु-भोज (20) 

व्यावहारिक मसीही जीवन, संसार के सामने मसीही विश्वास की एक प्रत्यक्ष गवाही रखता है। मसीही विश्वासी के बदले हुए जीवन को, और संसार तथा सांसारिकता की बातों से भिन्न जीवन शैली को दिखाता है। मसीह में विश्वास करने और उसे समर्पित जीवन जीने से, उसके जीवन में विद्यमान परमेश्वर की सहायता, सामर्थ्य, और सुरक्षा को प्रमाणित करता है। ऐसे व्यावहारिक मसीही जीवन को जीने के लिए परमेश्वर के वचन, बाइबल को जानना और मानना अनिवार्य है। व्यवहारिक मसीही जीवन को जीने, और परमेश्वर से आशीषित होने को जानने और समझने के लिए बाइबल में प्रेरितों 2:42 एक बहुत महत्वपूर्ण पद है। इस पद में मसीही विश्वास के जीवन से सम्बन्धित चार व्यावहारिक बातें दी गई हैं, जिन्हें मसीही जीवन के स्तम्भ भी कहा जाता है। इन चार बातों का लौलीन होकर पालन करने के परिणामस्वरूप, आरम्भिक मसीही विश्वासी अपने आत्मिक जीवनों में उन्नत हुए, हर परिस्थिति का सामना कर सके और अपने विश्वास में स्थिर और दृढ़ खड़े रह सके; और कलीसियाएं भी बढ़ती चली गईं। उन आरम्भिक मसीही विश्वासियों की तुलना में कुरिन्थुस के मसीही विश्वासी हैं, जिनका जीवन और व्यवहार इससे ठीक उलट था। उन्हीं चार बातों को एक रस्म, एक औपचारिकता में बदल देने के कारण, उन बातों के स्वरूप और निर्वाह में अपनी ही समझ और बुद्धि के अनुसार बदलाव करने के कारण, कुरिन्थुस के मसीही विश्वासियों का जीवन बहुत बिगड़ गया, और उनकी गवाही नकारात्मक हो गई। 

पवित्र आत्मा ने पौलुस प्रेरित के द्वारा पत्रियाँ लिखवाकर उन्हें उनकी गलतियाँ भी दिखाईं, और सुधरने का मार्ग भी बताया; और इन बातों को अनन्तकाल के लिए अपने वचन में सम्मिलित करवाकर, उन्हें सभी के लिए उपयुक्त और लागू भी करवा दिया। जो उस समय कुरिन्थुस के विश्वासियों की दशा थी, वही आज के मसीहियों की दशा भी है। इसीलिए, जो कुरिन्थुस की मण्डली के लिए समाधान था, वही आज के मसीही विश्वासियों के लिए भी समाधान है। हम वर्तमान में 1 कुरिन्थियों 11:17-34 से इन बातों को सीख और समझ रहे हैं। वर्तमान में हम पद 33-34 पर विचार कर रहे हैं, और आज भी इसे ज़ारी रखेंगे।    

7. प्रभु-भोज में भाग लेना - पद 31-34 - (भाग 4)

पिछले लेख में हमने देखा था कि पद 33-34 में पौलुस, इस विषय पर आरम्भ में, पद 20-22 में कही गई बात को ही दोबारा से दोहरा रहा है, और उन्हें समझा रहा है कि प्रभु भोज में भाग लेना, सबके सामने और सभी को दिखाने के लिए अपनी ही व्यक्तिगत दावत करना नहीं है। ऐसा करना अनुचित रीति है, और परमेश्वर से दण्ड का भागी बनाती है। व्यक्तिगत दावत का स्थान घर है, कलीसिया में प्रभु भोज सभी के साथ मिलकर, प्रभु द्वारा स्थापित स्वरूप और विधि, “एक ही रोटी और एक ही प्याला” का पालन करना है। ऐसा करना सभी सदस्यों में परस्पर प्रेम और एक-मनता की पुष्टि करता और उसमें दृढ़ बने रहने के लिए प्रेरित करता है। यहाँ 34 पद के मध्य भाग में फिर से चेतावनी दोहराई गई है, जो लोग इन निर्देशों की अनदेखी करते हैं, वे स्वयं को अनुचित रीति से भाग लेने का दोषी और परमेश्वर से दण्ड पाने का भागी बनाते हैं। और इससे बचने का एक ही तरीका है, प्रभु ने जो कहा और सिखाया है, उसी के अनुसार करना है। प्रभु की बातों और शिक्षाओं में अपनी समझ और धारणा के अनुसार कोई भी परिवर्तन नहीं करना है।

 

साथ ही, विषय को समाप्त करते हुए, पौलुस एक संकेत और देता है। वह पद 24 के अन्त में लिखता है “...और शेष बातों को मैं आकर ठीक कर दूंगा।” इससे प्रकट है कि कुरिन्थुस की उस मण्डली में प्रभु भोज से सम्बन्धित व्यवहार में कुछ अन्य समस्याएं भी थीं, जिनका निवारण भी अनिवार्य था। लेकिन जो सबसे मुख्य और तुरन्त सुधार के लिए आवश्यक बातें थीं, वह उसने पवित्र आत्मा की अगुवाई में उन्हें लिख दी थीं, जिससे कि वे उन बातों पर शीघ्रता से कार्यवाही करें, और गलतियों से निकलें, उनके दुष्परिणामों से बचें।

इससे हम तीन बातों को और सीखते हैं: 

• पहली यह, कि मसीही विश्वास का जीवन क्रमशः उन्नत होते जाने का जीवन है। प्रभु और उसके निर्धारित सेवकों के द्वारा, प्रभु के वचन के आधार पर, हमारे मसीही जीवनों के लिए एक नींव डाली जाती है। उस नींव पर प्रत्येक को अपने जीवन को, वचन की शिक्षाओं के अनुसार बनाना और बढ़ाना होता है। यही बात पौलुस ने कुरिन्थुस के इन्हीं विश्वासियों को इसी पत्री में पहले स्पष्ट रीति से 1 कुरिन्थियों 3:10 में लिखी है। पौलुस ने उनके लिए नींव डाली, लेकिन उन्हें उस नींव पर अपना रद्दा रखकर, विश्वास के उस भवन को बनाना और बढ़ाना है। प्रकट है कि हर रद्दा योजनाबद्ध तरीके से और सही रीति से रखा जाना चाहिए, अन्यथा वह भवन सही नहीं बनेगा। यही प्रक्रिया सुधारे जाने के लिए भी है। गलतियाँ दिखाए जाने और सुधारे जाने के बाद, पुनःअवलोकन भी होगा, और यदि फिर भी कोई शेष गलती है तो उसे सुधारने के लिए भी कहा जाएगा। और साथ ही, जो अन्य छोटी गलतियाँ, बाद में बताई जाएं, उन्हें भी सुधारने के लिए कलीसिया के लोगों को तैयार रहना चाहिए।

• दूसरी यह, कि पौलुस उन्हें आश्वस्त नहीं कर रहा है कि यदि वे इतना भर कर लें, तो पर्याप्त होगा। इतना कर लेने के बाद वे फिर निश्चिंत हो सकते हैं। वरन, पौलुस उन्हें बता दे रहा है कि पत्री में जो लिखा है, वह तो केवल अभी तुरन्त कार्यवाही के लिए है; वहाँ आने पर वह शेष बातों को ठीक करेगा। सुधार हमेशा ज़ारी रहता है, हम अंश-अंश करके प्रभु की समानता में बदलते हैं (2 कुरिन्थियों 3:18); और इस समानता में ढलते चले जाने के लिए निरंतर जाँच और सुधार आवश्यक और अनिवार्य हैं।

• तीसरी यह कि कलीसिया के पादरी या अगुवे की ज़िम्मेदारी है कि वह कलीसिया के लोगों को जब और जैसे आवश्यक हो उनकी गलती दिखाए और उन्हें सुधारे। इसलिए, कलीसिया के लोगों की भी यह जिम्मेदारी है कि वे सुधारे जाने के लिए तैयार रहें, और सुधरने के लिए दिए गए निर्देशों का पालन करें। पौलुस ने युवा सेवक और कलीसिया के अगुवे, तीतुस को लिखा, “मैं इसलिये तुझे क्रेते में छोड़ आया था, कि तू शेष रही हुई बातों को सुधारे, और मेरी आज्ञा के अनुसार नगर नगर प्राचीनों को नियुक्त करे” (तीतुस 1:5)। इस ज़िम्मेदारी के निर्वाह के लिए प्रश्न आयु का नहीं था, वरन परमेश्वर द्वारा सौंपी गई ज़िम्मेदारी के निर्वाह का था। यह अपने आप में एक बड़ा विषय है, और पहले के लेखों में, कलीसिया में अनुशासन और अगुवों की जिम्मेदारी के बारे में हम इसे देख चुके हैं।   

इन बातों के आधार पर, कुल मिलाकर, निष्कर्ष यही है कि अगुवों द्वारा जाँचे जाने और सुधारे जाने की प्रक्रिया, कलीसिया में बनी रहनी चाहिए। अगुवे को जाँचने और सुधारने की ज़िम्मेदारी निभानी है; और कलीसिया के लोगों को वचन के आधार पर उन्हें दिखाए और बताए गए सुधारों लागू करना है। यदि दोनों ही पक्ष अपनी-अपनी ज़िम्मेदारी का निर्वाह नहीं करेंगे तो बात बिगड़ जाएगी, जो कुरिन्थुस की मण्डली में हुआ था।

अगले लेख में हम प्रभु भोज से सम्बन्धित एक अन्य प्रश्न पर विचार करेंगे, जो यहाँ 1 कुरिन्थियों 11:17-34 में तो नहीं उठाया गया है, किन्तु आज कलीसियाओं में जिसे लेकर असमंजस रहता है - प्रभु भोज को कब और कितनी बार आयोजित होना चाहिए?

यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु, मैं अपने पापों के लिए पश्चातापी हूँ, उनके लिए आप से क्षमा माँगता हूँ। मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मुझे और मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

Things Related to Christian Living – 45

The Four Pillars of Christian Living - 3 - Breaking of Bread (20)

A practically lived out Christian life places a testimony before the world about the Christian faith. It demonstrates the changed life of a Christian Believer, and exhibits a life-style different from that of the world and worldliness. It proves God’s help, power, and security in the life of those Christian Believers who live a life committed and surrendered to God. To live such a practical Christian life, it is necessary to know and obey God’s Word, the Bible. To live a practical Christian life, and to know and understand being blessed by God, in the Bible, Acts 2:42 is a very important verse. In this verse four practical things regarding Christian living have been given, and these are also known as the “Pillars of Christian Living.” Because of steadfastly observing these four things, the initial Christian Believers were continually edified in their spiritual lives; they, despite all adverse circumstances, stood firm and strong in their faith; and the churches continued to grow. In contrast to those initial Christian Believers, are the Christian Believers of Corinth, whose life and behavior was just the opposite. They had turned these four things into a ritual, observed them as a formality, and had altered their form and method of observance as per their own understanding and wisdom. Consequently, their lives had become spoiled and corrupt, their testimony was very negative.

The Holy Spirit had the Apostle Paul write letters to them, to show them their wrongs, and the way to correct them; and by having these included for eternity in His Word, made them necessary to be obeyed by everyone. Today, the Christians are very much in the same condition, as those Corinthians Believers were then. Therefore, the solution that was given for the Corinthian Believers, is also the solution for us today. Presently, we are learning and understanding about them from 1 Corinthians 11:17-34; and are now considering verses 33-34, and will continue with them today as well.

 

7. Partaking in the Holy Communion - verses 31-34 - (Part 4)

In the previous article we had seen that in verses 33-34, Paul is repeating what he had said about it at the beginning of this topic in verses 20-22, and is explaining to them that participation in the Holy Communion is not having their personal party, and showing it off to everyone. Doing this is participating unworthily, and bringing upon themselves punishment from the Lord. The place to have a personal party is their home. In the Church, participation in the Holy Communion has to be together, along with everyone else. And it is to be in the form and manner given by the Lord, i.e., as “One Bread and One Cup for everyone to partake from.” By doing this everyone affirms mutual love, and also encourages to maintain unity and being of one-mind in the Church. Here, in the middle of verse 34, the warning is repeated once again that those who neglect these instructions, they automatically make themselves guilty of participating unworthily, and therefore of suffering God’s punishment. And, there is only way of escaping from this, do what the Lord has taught, just as He has said it should be done. Adding one’s own understanding and concepts to what the Lord has said and taught, and altering them, is forbidden.

Moreover, while concluding the topic, Paul gives a pointer to something more. To end verse 34, he says, “...And the rest I will set in order when I come.” It is evident from this that in the Church at Corinth, there were some other problems as well, and they too required being corrected. But the things that were most important and necessary for urgent correction, Paul had written those under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, so they would act urgently, come out of their wrongs, and be saved from their harmful consequences.

From this we learn three things:

• The first is that the Christian living is a life of progressively improving and being edified. The Lord through His servants, lays a foundation in our lives, based on, and through His Word. Everyone has to build his life on that, through the teachings and instructions of God’s Word. Paul has said this to these very Corinthain Believers in this very letter, in 1 Corinthians 3:10. Paul was instrumental in laying the foundation in their lives, but they had to build up their life of faith on that foundation. It is evident that every stage of building up has to be according to a proper plan and done correctly, else the building will not be good. The same process is also applicable to being corrected. When errors and mistakes are shown and the method of correction is told, and it has been implemented, then there will also be a review. If any small or residual wrongs are found, they will also be pointed out for correction and will have to be corrected. Also, besides what has already been pointed out, if anything else is pointed out at a later time, that too has to be accepted and implemented by the congregation.

• The second is that Pual is not assuring them that if they do whatever has been pointed out, then that will be sufficient. Having done all that has been pointed out, they can sit back and be content. Instead, Paul is making it clear to them that what was written to them in the letter was meant for immediate implementation; when he comes to them, he will set in order the rest of the remaining things. Corrections and improvement are a continual process, we are being changed into the likeness of the Lord bit by bit (2 Corinthians 3:18). And this also makes necessary a continual revaluation, correction, and review.

• The third is that it is the responsibility of the Church Pastor or Elder that as and when necessary, he should point out the wrongs of the people of the congregation, and have them correct them. Therefore, it is also the responsibility of the people of the congregation that they remain willing and ready to be corrected, and to implement the corrections they are being asked to carry out. Paul wrote to the young Church Elder and minister, Titus, “For this reason I left you in Crete, that you should set in order the things that are lacking, and appoint elders in every city as I commanded you” (Titus 1:5). To fulfill this responsibility, the question was not of age, but of fulfilling the God given responsibility. This in itself is a big topic, and in the earlier articles, where we were looking at Church discipline, we have seen about the responsibilities of the Church Elders, and their carrying them out.

On the basis of these things, the overall conclusion is that a continual process of being evaluated and corrected should be present in the Church. The Elder has to fulfill the responsibility of evaluating and correcting, and the congregation has to fulfill their responsibility of accepting their wrongs shown on the basis of God’s Word and correcting them. If both sides do not fulfill their respective responsibilities, then the situation will only go from bad to worse, as happened in the Church at Corinth.

In the next article we will consider a related question, one that has not been raised or addressed here in 1 Corinthians 11:17-34, but continues to perplex the churches today - when and how often should the Holy Communion be observed?

Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Repenting of your sins, and asking the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily and sincerely, surrendering yourself to Him - is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life.  Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.
