पिछले लेख में हमने देखा था कि यद्यपि पौलुस कुरिन्थुस की मण्डली से बहुत प्रेम करता था, और उन्हें अपनी आत्मिक सन्तान समझकर उनकी देखभाल करता था; परन्तु इसके कारण वह उनके प्रति अपनी आत्मिक ज़िम्मेदारी के निर्वाह से नहीं चूका। पौलुस ने परमेश्वर के वचन के आधार पर उन्हें उनकी गलतियों को दिखाने और सुधारने को प्राथमिकता दी; और उसने यह बहुत खराई और स्पष्टवादिता से किया, चाहे उन्हें अच्छा लगे अथवा नहीं। उनके के प्रति पौलुस की जवाबदेही, के कारण पौलुस ने उन्हें हानि से बचाए रखने के लिए जो भी आवश्यक था, वह किया; तथा परमेश्वर के प्रति उसकी जवाबदेही के कारण उसने परमेश्वर तथा उसके वचन की आज्ञाकारिता को जीवन की प्राथमिकता बनाए रखा। आज हम इस खण्ड को और आगे देखते हुए, इससे मिलने वाली और शिक्षा को देखेंगे।

इसी पद में एक तीसरी और बहुत महत्वपूर्ण शिक्षा भी निहित है, और एक बार फिर, विशेषकर कलीसिया के अगुवों, वचन के प्रचारकों और शिक्षकों के लिए - पौलुस ने यह बिल्कुल भी नहीं दिखाया है कि वह जो भी कर रहा था, या, उनसे जो भी करने को कह रहा था, या उनसे जो भी करने के लिए कहेगा, उसके बारे में कोई स्पष्टीकरण देना उसके स्तर, उसकी हैसियत को किसी भी प्रकार से कम करने वाली बात है। उसकी यह सोच नहीं थी कि क्योंकि कुरिन्थुस के मसीही विश्वासी उसे जानते थे और उन्हें उनके मध्य किए गए उसके परिश्रम के बारे में पता था, उन्होंने उस से परमेश्वर के वचन की शिक्षा पाई थी, इसलिए अब उसे कोई आवश्यकता नहीं थी कि वह अपने काम और कही गई बात के बारे में उन्हें कोई कारण बताए या किसी प्रकार का कोई स्पष्टीकरण दे। न ही वह यह समझता था कि उन्हें उससे कोई प्रश्न नहीं करने चाहिए, बल्कि नतमस्तक होकर बस उसकी कही बात को मान लेना और कर देना चाहिए।

ऐसा दृष्टिकोण रखने की बजाए, वह किसी भी मतभेद अथवा गलतफहमी के उत्पन्न होने की संभावना को पहले ही समाप्त कर देता है, और उनसे इससे आगे कुछ भी कहने से पहले, वह स्वयं ही उन्हें अपनी बात और काम के कारण को बता देता है - उन्हें हानि से बचाकर निकालने के लिए वह यह कर रहा था। आज, कितनी ही बार व्यक्तिगत अहं के कारण कलीसिया के लोगों के मध्य समस्याएँ उत्पन्न हो जाती हैं; और लोगों पर “अनाज्ञाकारी होने”, तथा “आदर नहीं करने वाले” होने के आरोप लगाए जाते हैं, विशेषकर उनके द्वारा जो कलीसिया में किसी अधिकार के पद अथवा ओहदे पर हैं, और इससे कलीसिया में समस्याएँ कम होने के स्थान पर, और अधिक बढ़ जाती हैं। हमें पौलुस द्वारा इस अध्याय के पहले पद में कही गई बात को समझने और पालन करने की आवश्यकता है। यद्यपि यह कलीसिया के अगुवों की ज़िम्मेदारी है कि वे सदस्यों में देखी जाने वाली गलतियों को बताएं और उन्हें सुधारें, किन्तु यह केवल परमेश्वर के वचन में सिखाए गए तरीके से ही किया जाना चाहिए; किसी अन्य तरीके से करने से समस्याएँ कम होने के स्थान पर और बढ़ जाएँगी।

यदि आप एक मसीही विश्वासी हैं, और प्रभु की मेज़ में भाग लेते रहे हैं, तो कृपया अपने जीवन को जाँच कर देख लें कि आप वास्तव में पापों से छुड़ाए गए हैं तथा आप ने अपना जीवन प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता में जीने के लिए उस को समर्पित किया है। आपके लिए यह अनिवार्य है कि आप परमेश्वर के वचन की सही शिक्षाओं को जानने के द्वारा एक परिपक्व विश्वासी बनें, तथा सभी शिक्षाओं को वचन की कसौटी पर परखने, और बेरिया के विश्वासियों के समान, लोगों की बातों को पहले वचन से जाँचने और उनकी सत्यता को निश्चित करने के बाद ही उनको स्वीकार करने और मानने वाले बनें (प्रेरितों 17:11; 1 थिस्सलुनीकियों 5:21)। अन्यथा शैतान द्वारा छोड़े हुए झूठे प्रेरित और भविष्यद्वक्ता मसीह के सेवक बन कर (2 कुरिन्थियों 11:13-15) अपनी ठग विद्या और चतुराई से आपको प्रभु के लिए अप्रभावी कर देंगे और आप के मसीही जीवन एवं आशीषों का नाश कर देंगे।

यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

The Lord’s Table - Correct People Only for Edification (2)

In the previous article we had seen that though Paul loved the Corinthian Church, and cared for them as his spiritual children; but that did not stop him from fulfilling his spiritual responsibilities towards them. Paul made it his priority to point out and correct their errors on the basis of God’s Word, in a forthright and straightforward manner, whether or not they liked it. Paul’s accountability to them made him do whatever was necessary to keep them from harm; and to God made him serve God faithfully, giving obedience to God and His Word the first priority in his life. Today we will consider this passage, and derive further lessons from it.

There is a third very important teaching inherent in this verse, and again, especially for elders, preachers, and teachers in the Lord’s Church - Paul did not in any manner show that it was below his status or dignity to explain what he was doing, or asking them to do, or would be asking them to do. He did not feel that as the Corinthian Believers knew who he was and how he had labored among them, taught them the Word of God, therefore, there was no need for him to offer any reason for what he was doing, or offer any explanations to them. Nor did he indicate that they should feel obligated to listen to him and obey him without asking any questions.

Instead, he pre-empted reasons for any discord or misunderstandings, and before saying anything more, he told them his reason - to help them come out of harm. How often ego problems amongst Church members; and allegations of “insubordination”, of “not paying due respect” especially in those who see themselves in any position of authority, creates even more problems in the Church. We need to learn from Paul’s attitude, from his living by what he said in verse 1. While it is the responsibility of the elders of the Church to point out and correct the congregation, it is also necessary to do it in the manner taught by God in His Word; doing it in any other way will create more problems than it will solve.

If you are a Christian Believer and have been participating in the Lord’s Table, then please examine your life and make sure that you are actually a disciple of the Lord, i.e., are redeemed from your sins, have submitted and surrendered your life to the Lord Jesus to live in obedience to Him and His Word. You should also always, like the Berean Believers, first check and test all teachings that you receive from the Word of God, and only after ascertaining the truth and veracity of the teachings brought to you by men, should you accept and obey them (Acts 17:11; 1 Thessalonians 5:21). If you do not do this, the false apostles and prophets sent by Satan as ministers of Christ (2 Corinthians 11:13-15), will by their trickery, cunningness, and craftiness render you ineffective for the Lord and cause severe damage to your Christian life and your rewards.

If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord Jesus, then to ensure your eternal life and heavenly rewards, take a decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now. Wherever there is surrender and obedience towards the Lord Jesus, the Lord’s blessings and safety are also there. If you are still not Born Again, have not obtained salvation, or have not asked the Lord Jesus for forgiveness for your sins, then you have the opportunity to do so right now. A short prayer said voluntarily with a sincere heart, with heartfelt repentance for your sins, and a fully submissive attitude, “Lord Jesus, I confess that I have disobeyed You, and have knowingly or unknowingly, in mind, in thought, in attitude, and in deeds, committed sins. I believe that you have fully borne the punishment of my sins by your sacrifice on the cross, and have paid the full price of those sins for all eternity. Please forgive my sins, change my heart and mind towards you, and make me your disciple, take me with you." God longs for your company and wants to see you blessed, but to make this possible, is your personal decision. Will you not say this prayer now, while you have the time and opportunity to do so - the decision is yours.

       इस वार्तालाप और घटनाक्रम का मुख्य वर्णन यूहन्ना 13 में दिया गया है; कुछ बाइबल व्याख्याकर्ताओं का यह कहना है कि यूहन्ना 13, फसह से पहले प्रभु यीशु द्वारा बैतनिय्याह के शमौन के घर पर खाए गए भोज के बारे में और इसमें बताई गई बातचीत तथा घटनाएं वहाँ पर घटित हुई थीं (यूहन्ना 12:1)। किन्तु अन्य उतने ही निश्चित हैं कि यूहन्ना 13 प्रभु यीशु के शिष्यों के साथ खाए गए अंतिम भोज का विवरण है, जिसके दौरान उसने प्रभु की मेज़ को स्थापित किया, और फिर इसके बाद धर्म के अगुवों द्वरा भेजे गए लोगों ने, यहूदा इस्करियोती की सहायता से उसे पकड़ लिया, और उसे क्रूस पर चढ़ाने के लिए ले जाया गया। यहाँ पर यूहन्ना 13:27 से आगे दिए गए वार्तालाप से तो ऐसा लगता है कि फसह के इसी भोज और प्रभु की मेज़ की स्थापना के कुछ समय बाद ही प्रभु यीशु को पकड़ लिया गया था। दोनों में से चाहे जो भी सही हो, एक बात निश्चित है, ये बातें और घटनाएं प्रभु के पकड़वाए जाने और क्रूस पर चढ़ाए जाने के बहुत निकट हुई थीं, और उन अंतिम बातों और घटनाओं का भाग हैं जिनके दौरान प्रभु ने मेज़ की स्थापना की थी। हम यूहन्ना 13 को प्रभु द्वारा शिष्यों के साथ फसह के उस भोज को खाते समय के वृतांत के रूप में लेंगे, जिसके दौरान उसने प्रभु भोज की स्थापना की, और फिर इसके कुछ समय के बाद वह पकड़ा गया और क्रूस पर चढ़ाए जाने के लिए ले जाया गया; और इससे सीखेंगे।

        अगले लेख में हम देखेंगे कि वह क्या था जो प्रभु कर के, व्यावहारिक रीति से उन्हें दिखाना और सिखाना चाहता था; और इस शिक्षा को देने के लिए प्रभु द्वारा यह विधि क्यों अपनाई गई।

The Lord’s Table - A Remembrance for Humility & Service (1)

 

       As has been said in the previous articles, to learn the meaning, teachings, and implications of the Holy Communion from the New Testament, we need to see all the accounts given in the four Gospels, from Matthew 26, Mark 14, Luke 22, and John 13, since different authors have stated different parts of the events. Also, for this study it should be kept in mind, as has been said initially, that the purpose here is not to harmonize the four Gospel accounts and present them chronologically, but to learn from them. So far, we have seen from Matthew 26:17-19, along with the related passages from Mark and Luke, that the disciples ask the Lord about the place to eat the Passover, which they were celebrating together as one spiritual family by faith in the Lord. The Lord sends Peter and John to a specific house, and they prepare to eat the Passover there. After this, Matthew 26:20, Mark 14:20, and Luke 22:14 tell us that in the evening the Lord Jesus reaches the place and sits down with His disciples for the Passover, and then some conversation and events start unfolding.

        The main narrative of this conversation and events is given in John 13; some Bible commentators are of the opinion that John 13 is about the Lord having a supper at the house of Simon of Bethany before the Passover, and the mentioned conversation and events happened at that time (John 12:1). But others are equally sure that John 13 is the account of the last supper that the Lord had with His disciples, during which He established the Lord’s Table, and was afterwards caught by the people sent by the religious leaders, with the help of Judas Iscariot, and taken to be crucified. The conversation from John 13:27 onwards indicates that the Lord Jesus was caught soon after this Passover meal, and having established the Lord's Table. Whichever be true, one thing is for sure - it happened soon before the Lord’s being caught and crucified, and is a part of the final events, during which the Lord’s Table was established. We will learn from the conversation and events of John 13 as happening the same evening when the Lord was eating the Passover, during which He established the Holy Communion, and sometime afterwards, He was caught and taken to be crucified. [For the English readers, another thing to be kept in mind is that though the KJV and NKJV translate John 13:2 as “supper being ended”, but the general consensus amongst the translators is that, as is evident from 13:4, 26, the incidence of the Lord Jesus washing the feet of the disciples happened during the supper; and the appropriate translation is “after the supper was served”, or “during supper”, as the NASB, NIV, HCSB, ESV, EBR, LEB, etc. put it.]

        With this in mind, we see a peculiar incidence happening in John 13:4-17 - the Lord Jesus gets up from the supper, takes off His garments, i.e., the outer clothes, girds Himself with a towel, takes a basin of water and washes the feet of the disciples. Why did the Lord do this, what happened that prompted Him to do so is not mentioned, nor is this incident mentioned in any of the other Gospel accounts. Simon Peter protests and does not want to allow the Lord to wash his feet, but the Lord explains to him, and Peter agrees. Then the Lord finally concludes by instructing the disciples to learn from His example, be humble like Him, be ready and willing to “wash each other’s feet”, and assures them that by doing so, they will be blessed (John 13:17). We have a hint about the reason for Lord Jesus doing this in Luke 22:24, which indicates that the dispute amongst the disciples about which one amongst them was the greatest was still simmering amongst them, and had not come to an end. It is also possible that the Lord's sending Peter and John to prepare for the Passover, might have restarted the discussion about the mutual importance of the disciples. We do not know the exact reason, but in any case, as we can surmise from the Lord's conversation with Peter about it, the Lord knowing that He will soon be leaving them, wanted to practically demonstrate and teach them something very important that will help them greatly in the times to come during their ministry.

        In the next article, we will see what the Lord wanted to demonstrate and teach His disciples, and the method He adopted to convey this teaching.

The Lord's security and blessings are present where there is obedience of the Lord, where His Word is honored and followed. If you are still not Born Again, have not obtained salvation, or have not asked the Lord Jesus for forgiveness for your sins, then you have the time and opportunity to do so right now. Ask the Lord Jesus to forgive your sins, and voluntarily and sincerely surrender yourselves into His hands - this is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. All you have to do is say a short prayer, voluntarily and with a sincere heart, with heartfelt repentance for your sins, and a fully submissive attitude. You can do this in this manner, “Lord Jesus, I confess that I have disobeyed You, and have knowingly or unknowingly, in mind, in thought, in attitude, and in deeds, committed sins. I believe that you have fully borne the punishment of my sins by your sacrifice on the cross, and have paid the full price of those sins for all eternity. Please forgive my sins, change my heart and mind towards you, and make me your disciple, take me with you." God longs for your company and wants to see you blessed, but to make this possible, is your personal decision. One prayer said with a sincere and surrendered heart will turn your present and future, your life here on earth and in the next world, forever and make you heavenly and blessed. Will you not say this prayer now, while you have the time and opportunity to do so? The decision is yours.

प्रभु यीशु की कलीसिया - रूपकों से शिक्षाएँ 

पिछले कुछ लेखों में हम प्रभु यीशु की कलीसिया के लिए परमेश्वर के वचन बाइबल के नए नियम खंड में प्रयोग किए गए विभिन्न रूपक (metaphors), जैसे कि - प्रभु का परिवार या घराना; परमेश्वर का निवास-स्थान या मन्दिर; परमेश्वर का भवन; परमेश्वर की खेती; प्रभु की देह; प्रभु की दुल्हन; परमेश्वर की दाख की बारी, इत्यादि के बारे में देखते आ रहे हैं। हमने देखा है कि किस प्रकार से इन रूपकों में होकर परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा ने प्रभु द्वारा अपनी कलीसिया, अर्थात, अपने सच्चे और समर्पित शिष्यों का धर्मी और पवित्र किए जाना, परमेश्वर के साथ कलीसिया के संबंध, संगति, एवं सहभागिता की बहाली, तथा कलीसिया के लोगों के व्यवहार और जीवनों में परमेश्वर के प्रयोजन, उन से उसकी अपेक्षाएं, आदि को समझाया है। यहाँ पर ये रूपक किसी विशिष्ट क्रम, आधार, अथवा रीति से सूची-बद्ध नहीं किए गए हैं। कलीसिया के लिए बाइबल में प्रयोग किए गए सभी रूपक समान रीति से, एक सच्चे, समर्पित, आज्ञाकारी मसीही विश्वासी के प्रभु यीशु और पिता परमेश्वर के साथ संबंध को, तथा उसके मसीही जीवन, और दायित्वों के विभिन्न पहलुओं को दिखाते हैं; सभी रूपक समान ही महत्वपूर्ण हैं, सभी में मसीही जीवन से संबंधित कुछ आवश्यक शिक्षाएं हैं।

साथ ही, इन सभी रूपकों में एक और सामान्य बात है कि प्रत्येक रूपक यह भी बिलकुल स्पष्ट और निश्चित कर देता है कि कोई भी व्यक्ति किसी भी प्रकार के किसी भी मानवीय प्रयोजन, कार्य, मान्यता या धारणा के निर्वाह आदि के द्वारा, अपनी अथवा किसी अन्य मनुष्य की ओर से परमेश्वर की कलीसिया का सदस्य बन ही नहीं सकता है; वह चाहे कितने भी और कैसे भी प्रयास अथवा दावे क्यों न कर ले। अगर व्यक्ति प्रभु यीशु की कलीसिया का सदस्य होगा, तो वह केवल प्रभु की इच्छा से, उसके माप-दंडों के आधार पर, उसकी स्वीकृति से होगा, अन्यथा कोई चाहे कुछ भी कहता रहे, वह चाहे किसी ‘मानवीय कलीसिया’ अथवा किसी ‘संस्थागत कलीसिया’ का सदस्य हो जाए, किन्तु प्रभु की वास्तविक कलीसिया का सदस्य हो ही नहीं सकता है। और यदि वह अपने आप को प्रभु की कलीसिया का सदस्य समझता या कहता भी है, तो भी प्रभु उसकी वास्तविकता देर-सवेर प्रकट कर देगा, और अन्ततः वह अनन्त विनाश के लिए प्रभु की कलीसिया से पृथक कर दिया जाएगा। इसलिए अपने आप को मसीही विश्वासी कहने वाले प्रत्येक जन के लिए अभी समय और अवसर है कि अभी अपने ‘मसीही विश्वासी’ होने के आधार एवं वास्तविक स्थिति को भली-भांति जाँच-परख कर, उचित कदम उठा ले और प्रभु के साथ अपने संबंध ठीक कर ले। हर व्यक्ति को यह सुनिश्चित कर लेना चाहिए कि वह किसी मानवीय कलीसिया अथवा किसी संस्थागत कलीसिया का नहीं, परंतु प्रभु यीशु की वास्तविक कलीसिया का सदस्य है।

परमेश्वर के वचन बाइबल में दी गई “कलीसिया” शब्द की समझ और अभिप्राय जानना और समझना प्रत्येक उस जन के लिए जो अपने आप को ईसाई, या मसीही, या मसीही विश्वासी कहता है, अनिवार्य है। क्योंकि वह व्यक्ति इस पृथ्वी के किस मत, समुदाय, डिनॉमिनेशन से संबंध रखता है; या पृथ्वी पर उसकी सदस्यता किस मत, समुदाय, डिनॉमिनेशन में है, और उस मत, समुदाय, डिनॉमिनेशन के अगुवे और वहाँ उस व्यक्ति के साथ के अन्य लोग उस व्यक्ति के बारे में क्या राय रखते हैं, आदि बातों का उस व्यक्ति के परलोक के अनन्त जीवन पर कोई प्रभाव नहीं पड़ेगा। जिस एकमात्र बात का प्रभाव पड़ेगा, और जो उस व्यक्ति के अनन्त काल के स्थान को निर्धारित करेगी वह है उस व्यक्ति का प्रभु यीशु मसीह के साथ व्यक्तिगत संबंध, जैसा हम पहले से कहते और बल देते चले आ रहे हैं। प्रभु यीशु मसीह ने मत्ती 22:1-16 में परमेश्वर के राज्य और अन्त के समय होने वाली छँटाई के विषय एक दृष्टांत कहा - एक राजा ने अपने पुत्र के विवाह के उपलक्ष्य में एक बड़ा भोज आयोजित किया, किन्तु निमंत्रित लोगों ने आने में आनाकानी की। तब राजा ने नगर के मार्गों, चौराहों, आदि स्थानों से सभी लोगों को भोज के लिए बुलाया। जब राजा भोज के स्थान पर आया तो देखा कि उन बुलाए गए लोगों में से एक ऐसा था, जो राजा द्वारा प्रदान किए गए भोज के वस्त्र को पहने बिना अंदर चला आया था। राजा की आज्ञा से इस व्यक्ति को बाहर निकाल दिया गया, अँधियारे में, पीड़ा के स्थान में डाल दिया गया। इस दृष्टांत के अन्त में प्रभु यीशु ने निष्कर्ष के रूप में कहा, क्योंकि बुलाए हुए तो बहुत परन्तु चुने हुए थोड़े हैं (मत्ती 22:14)। उस व्यक्ति का भोज के भीतरी स्थान तक पहुँच जाने ने उसके लिए इस बात को निश्चित नहीं किया कि वह भोज में भाग भी लेने पाएगा। जब वह भोज के लिए उपयुक्त वस्त्रों के बिना पाया गया, तो उसे निकाल बाहर किया गया। यदि आपने प्रभु द्वारा दिए गए उद्धार के वस्त्र नहीं पहने हैं तो आप भी वैसे ही खतरे में हैं; समय रहते सुधार कर लें, कहीं बहुत देर न हो जाए।

यदि आपने अभी तक प्रभु की शिष्यता को स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी उसके पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। यदि आपने अभी तक नया जन्म, उद्धार नहीं पाया है, प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा नहीं माँगी है, तो अभी आपके पास समय और अवसर है कि यह कर लें। प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” परमेश्वर आपके साथ संगति रखने की बहुत लालसा रखता है तथा आपको आशीषित देखना चाहता है, लेकिन इसे सम्भव करना आपका व्यक्तिगत निर्णय है। सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी। क्या आप अभी समय और अवसर होते हुए, इस प्रार्थना को नहीं करेंगे? निर्णय आपका है।

The Church of the Lord Jesus – Lessons from the Metaphors

We have been considering the various metaphors given in the New Testament section of the Word of God the Bible, for the Church of God, e.g., the Family of the Lord; the Temple or Dwelling place of God; House of God; the Field of God; The Body of the Lord; the Bride of the Lord; the Vineyard of God, etc. We have seen how through these metaphors God the Holy Spirit has shown and explained about the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ, i.e., about those who are His truly surrendered and committed people being made pure and holy, their relationship with the Lord, the restoration of His people to fellowship with God, the life and behavior of the people of the Church, and God’s expectations from them, His work in their lives etc. We are not considering these metaphors in any particular order. All of the metaphors, in an equal measure and importance, teach about the various aspects of the relationship with God, Christian life, the responsibilities of a true, fully surrendered, obedient Christian Believer. All metaphors are equally important, and every one of them teaches some important thing or the other about the Believer's Christian living.

Every metaphor also makes it very clear and evident that no person can become a member of the Lord’s Church through any human agency - whether self or of anyone else, on the basis of works, criteria, notions etc., no matter who he may be or how much he may try to join the Lord’s Church. If anyone joins the Church of the Lord, it will only be according to the will, standards, criteria, and acceptance by the Lord. Other than this anyone may keep saying, doing, and claiming whatever they may; he will never actually be or become a member of the Lord’s Church. Even if he considers himself to be and claims his being a member, sooner or later his actual state will be exposed, and he will be separated out for eternal destruction. Therefore, for everyone who claims himself to be a Christian Believer, now is the time and opportunity to examine and evaluate their relationship with the Lord and its basis, and if there is any doubt, then have it rectified and come into the right relationship with the Lord. Everyone should ensure that he is a member, not of any man-made or any institution-made church, but of the true Church of the Lord Jesus Christ.

It is essential for everyone who calls himself a Christian, or a Believer, or a Born-Again person to have a proper Biblical understanding of the meaning and implications of “Church.” This is because that person’s association with, or his membership of a particular group, or sect, or denomination, and what the elders and leaders and other members of that group, or sect, or denomination think about him will not in any way affect his relationship with God and his eternal life in heaven. The one and only thing that will determine his relationship with God and favorably impact his eternal life in heaven, as we have repeatedly been saying and emphasizing, is his relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ. The Lord Jesus Christ, in Matthew 22:1-16 spoke a parable about the King’s invitation to the marriage supper of his son, but those invited made excuses and did not come. Then the King asked his servants to go into the roads and the cross-roads of the city, and gather together all that they could find. When the King came into the hall where the supper was being held, he saw there was a person who was without the wedding garments. The King ordered for this person to be cast out into outer darkness, a place of torment. At the conclusion of the parable the Lord made a statement For many are called, but few are chosen (Matthew 22:14). That person’s reaching the chamber where the supper was being held was no guarantee that he will be able to partake of the wedding feast as well. When he was found without the wedding garments, he was thrown out. If you are not wearing the robes of the Lord's salvation and righteousness, you too are in a similarly serious jeopardy; rectify it now, before it is too late.

If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord Jesus, then take a decision in its favor now to secure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. The Lord's security and blessings are present where there is obedience of the Lord, where His Word is honored and followed. If you are still not Born Again, have not obtained salvation, or have not asked the Lord Jesus for forgiveness for your sins, then you have the time and opportunity to do so right now. Ask the Lord Jesus to forgive your sins, and voluntarily and sincerely surrender yourselves into His hands - this is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. All you have to do is say a short prayer, voluntarily and with a sincere heart, with heartfelt repentance for your sins, and a fully submissive attitude. You can do this in this manner, “Lord Jesus, I confess that I have disobeyed You, and have knowingly or unknowingly, in mind, in thought, in attitude, and in deeds, committed sins. I believe that you have fully borne the punishment of my sins by your sacrifice on the cross, and have paid the full price of those sins for all eternity. Please forgive my sins, change my heart and mind towards you, and make me your disciple, take me with you." God longs for your company and wants to see you blessed, but to make this possible, is your personal decision. One prayer said with a sincere and surrendered heart will turn your present and future, your life here on earth and in the next world, forever and make you heavenly and blessed. Will you not say this prayer now, while you have the time and opportunity to do so? The decision is yours.

    प्रश्न: दाऊद द्वारा जनगणना के लिए कौन ज़िम्मेदार – परमेश्वर (2 शमूएल 24:1) या शैतान (1 इतिहास 21:1)?

 

उत्तर:

 2 शमूएल 24:1 “और यहोवा का कोप इस्राएलियों पर फिर भड़का, और उसने दाऊद को इनकी हानि के लिये यह कहकर उभारा, कि इस्राएल और यहूदा की गिनती ले।”

1 इतिहास 21:1 “और शैतान ने इस्राएल के विरुद्ध उठ कर, दाऊद को उकसाया कि इस्राएलियों की गिनती ले।”

    यह दोनों खण्ड परस्पर विरोधाभास प्रतीत में होते हैं, क्योंकि पढ़ते ही लगता है कि 2 शमूएल 24:1 में यह कार्य यहोवा ने करवाया, और 1 इतिहास 21:1 से लगता है कि वही कार्य शैतान ने करवाया – इसलिए असमंजस होता है।

    इस्राएलियों के द्वारा परमेश्वर के स्थान पर पराक्रमी दाऊद और उसकी शूरवीर सेना को अपनी सुरक्षा, निश्चिंतता, और समृद्धि का आधार समझ लेना, और दाऊद का भी, जो परमेश्वर को इतनी निकटता से जानता था, शैतान की बात पर ध्यान लगाना, चिताए जाने पर भी नहीं सुधारना, शैतान के बहकावे में आ जाना और इस संबंध में परमेश्वर की इच्छा आ पता न करना, परमेश्वर को बुरा लगा (1 इतिहास 21:7)। दाऊद जब तक शाऊल से जान बचा कर भाग रहा था, वह अपनी हर बात के लिए परमेश्वर से पूछा करता था। जब राजा बनकर सुरक्षित तथा आदरणीय हो गया तो निश्चिन्त होकर अपने आप पर भरोसा करने लग गया – वाचा के संदूक को यरूशलेम लाने का निर्णय लेना (2 शमूएल 6:1-8), मंदिर बनवाने का निर्णय लेना (1 इतिहास 17:1-4), इस जनगणना का आदेश देना, बतशेबा के साथ व्यभिचार और उसके पति ऊरिय्याह की हत्या करवाना (2 शमूएल 23:7-10), आदि उसकी इस प्रवृत्ति के उदाहरण हैं। परमेश्वर को हलके में लेने और उसके आदर तथा महिमा को चुराने के दोषी दाऊद और उसकी प्रजा दोनों ही थे, और परमेश्वर अपने आदर और महिमा के विषय बहुत विशिष्ट रहता है तथा जलन रखता है (यशायाह 42:8; 48:11; भजन 50:21-22); इसलिए परमेश्वर को दाऊद और उसकी प्रजा के लोगों, दोनों ही को यह पाठ पढ़ाना पड़ा (मलाकी 2:2)। शैतान हमेशा अवसर की तलाश में रहता है कि परमेश्वर के लोगों में कोई अनुचित अभिलाषा उत्पन्न हो, और वह उनकी उस अनुचित अभिलाषा की चिंगारी को भड़का कर उन्हें ही भस्म कर देने वाली आग बना दे (याकूब 1:12-15)। दाऊद और उसकी प्रजा ने परमेश्वर के बाड़े की मर्यादा को तोड़ा, उसकी सुरक्षा के बाहर आए, और सर्प ने उन्हें डस लिया (सभोपदेशक 10:8)। 

    दाऊद और उसकी प्रजा के लोगों को यह पाठ पढ़ाने के लिए परमेश्वर ने शैतान को दाऊद को उकसा लेने दिया कि वह दाऊद से जनगणना करवाए (1 इतिहास 21:1) – जनगणना करवाने के पश्चात दाऊद को अपनी गलती का एहसास हुआ, और उसे बहुत पछतावा भी हुआ, किन्तु उसे तथा प्रजा को ताड़ना भी सहनी पड़ी। उस जनगणना के परिणामों के द्वारा परमेश्वर इस्राएलियों और दाऊद को यह दृढ़ता से सिखाने पाया कि उनकी सुरक्षा उनके सैनिकों की संख्या और पराक्रम, राजा के महान होने में नहीं है, वरन परमेश्वर स्वयं उनकी सुरक्षा और सहायता, उनकी निश्चिंतता का आधार है; उसके अतिरिक्त किसी अन्य व्यक्ति या बात में इस सुरक्षा का भरोसा रखना न केवल खतरनाक है, वरन हानिकारक भी है – और यही शिक्षा आज हमारे लिए भी है।

David’s Census - From God or From Satan?

Question: Who is responsible for the census ordered by David – God (2 Samuel 24:1), or Satan ( 1 Chronicles 21:1)?

 Answer:

2 Samuel 24:1 Again the anger of the Lord was aroused against Israel, and He moved David against them to say, "Go, number Israel and Judah."

1 Chronicles 21:1 Now Satan stood up against Israel, and moved David to number Israel.

 These verses appear to be contradictory, because on reading them the first thought that comes to mind is that in 2 Samuel 24:1, apparently it was God who got this thing done; whereas in 1 Chronicles 21:1 is seems that it was Satan who got this done – creating a confusion.

Before analyzing the situation to come to is understanding, it is necessary that we keep in mind the fact that God can use Satan too to accomplish His purposes, but He also sets and establishes the limits for Satan before he does anything against God’s people, as we see from the life of Job and the Lord Jesus’ conversation with His disciples before His being caught (Job 1:12; 2:6; Luke 22:31-32). Moreover, God had already warned His people, the Israelites, that if they break their covenant with Him, then He will hide His face from them (Deuteronomy 31:16-17), and if they provoke Him by their foolishness and vain works, He too would provoke them by foolish things (Deuteronomy 32:21). Another fact to be kept in mind is that from both accounts of the census, it is apparent that primarily the people of Israel were at fault, and David got involved secondarily, he was provoked into doing something  foolish.

Now let us come to 2 Samuel 24:1 – from its context, i.e., the previous chapter, chapter 23, we are able to understand that this incidence occurred at the latter time of David’s reign, during the years when he had become a great, powerful and dominant king of that region, not just within his own kingdom and people, but also amongst the surrounding kingdoms as well. Chapter 23 also tells us about his valiant military leaders and Generals, and their valiant deeds as well. With this background, we see that this chapter (2 Samuel 24) begins with the words “Again the anger of the Lord was aroused against Israel.” So, we can surmise that something had come into the lives of the Israelites and David, that angered God, and it became necessary for Him to teach Israel and David a lesson. From these aforementioned facts, the situation that comes to mind is that although throughout Israel there was an atmosphere of security, contentment, and prosperity, but now they thought of this security, contentment, and prosperity as not a result of God’s benevolence and grace upon them, but because of their great King and his mighty, valiant army and military leaders. Quite likely this feeling, of security because of the large count of his people, his huge army, and the valor of his army and its leaders had brought, or was bringing pride in David as well. That is why, firstly his General Joab tries to reason with him against doing this census, but is unsuccessful and has to go for it (2 Samuel 24:2-4; 1 Chronicles 21:2-4); and, secondly, after the census David holds himself guilty and repents of doing this (2 Samuel 24:10; 1 Chronicles 21:8).

Because of the Israelite’s shifting their confidence regarding their security, contentment, and prosperity to their great and powerful King and his valiant army, and David, who knew God so well and closely, too paying attention to the thoughts being given by Satan, his not paying heed to the warnings against doing so, not first asking God about doing it, and his succumbing to the provocation of Satan, displeased God (1 Chronicles 21:7). As long as David was running for his life from Saul, he consulted God about all his decisions. But now that he had become honorable, the King over all Israel, he became complacent and started to take decisions on his own – his deciding to carry the Ark of the Covenant to Jerusalem (2 Samuel 6:1-8), the ordering of this census, his act of adultery with Bathsheba and murdering her husband Uriah (2 Samuel 23:7-10), etc. are all examples of this complacency that had crept into him. David and Israel were guilty of taking God for granted and lightly, and denying God His glory and honor. God is very particular and jealous of His glory and honor and does not take its being disregarded lightly (Isaiah 42:8; 48:11; Psalms 50:21-22). Therefore, God had to teach the lesson, to both, Israel and David (Malachi 2:2). 

Satan is always on the lookout; the moment some inappropriate or wrong desire crops up in the hearts of God’s people, he immediately steps in to stir it up into a flame that will severely harm the Believer (James 1:12-15). Israel and David broke the sanctity of God’s wall and stepped out of it, and immediately the serpent bit them (Ecclesiastes 10:8). To teach this lesson to David’s people and to David, God allowed Satan to provoke him (1 Chronicles 21:1). After the census, David realized his grave error and was very penitent for it too, but he and his people had to go through the chastening. 

Through the consequences of that census God had to firmly teach Israel and David that their security, contentment, prosperity, and help was neither in the number of the people, nor in the strength and valor of their army and the greatness of their King. But it is God and God alone who is their security, the cause of their contentment and prosperity. For God’s people to trust in anyone or anything else is not only dangerous, but is also very harmful – and this is a lesson for us today as well.

If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord, make your decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now to ensure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Repenting of your sins, and asking the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily and sincerely, surrendering yourself to Him - is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life.  Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.

प्रभु की मेज़ - जाँचें और एक-मनता को बनाएँ रखें 

 

पिछले लेख में हमने 1 कुरिन्थियों 11:17 से देखा था कि पवित्र आत्मा की अगुवाई में पौलुस ने कलीसिया में घुस आई गलतियों को दिखाना और उनका सामना करना आरंभ किया। हमने देखा था कि पौलुस प्रभु और उसके वचन के प्रति, सही सिद्धांतों के पालन और शिक्षा में, न केवल खरा और स्पष्टवादी था, वरन सुधारने के समय उसने पिता के समान प्रेम और चिंता भी दिखाई, उन्हें साफ बताया कि उनकी गलतियों के कारण उन्हें बहुत हानि उठानी पड़ रही है; अर्थात, उसका उन्हें ठीक करने का प्रयास उन पर अपने अधिकार को जताने के लिए नहीं परंतु उन्हें हानि में से खींच कर निकाल लेने के लिए है, जिसमें वे जा चुके थे।

पद 18 से आगे पौलुस उन्हें उनकी गलतियाँ दिखाना आरंभ करता है। पहली गलती जो वह उन्हें दिखाता और जिसका सामना वह करता है वह है उनमें एक-मनता का न होना। वास्तव में, यह इस पत्री के लिखने में उसके द्वारा उन्हें बताई गई उनकी पहली गलती भी थी (1 कुरिन्थियों 1:10-13)। इस पत्री के आरंभ में, पौलुस 1 कुरिन्थियों 1:10 में उनसे विनती करता है कि वे एक मन होकर साथ बने रहें। अर्थात, मसीही विश्वासी होने के नाते, जिस बात की सबसे पहले उनसे अपेक्षा रखी जाती है, वह है अपने विश्वास में एक देह होकर कलीसिया के रूप में प्रभु भोज में सम्मिलित होने के लिए एकत्रित हों। पौलुस उन्हें पहले ही बता चुका था कि उनमें एक-मनता का न होना, उनमें परस्पर डाह और झगड़े होने, उनकी आत्मिक अपरिपक्वता, शारीरिक होने, और संसार के लोगों के समान व्यवहार रखने का चिह्न है (1 कुरिन्थियों 3:1-6)।

जैसा कि पौलुस ने कुरिन्थुस के मसीही विश्वासियों को 1 कुरिन्थियों 3:1-6 में कहा है, उनमें एक-मनता के न होने के कारण, वे अपने विश्वास में बढ़ने और उन्नति करने नहीं पा रहे थे, वे अभी भी “मसीह में बालकों” के समान थे; और इसलिए पौलुस उनसे आत्मिक लोगों के समान बात नहीं कर सका। क्योंकि वे आत्मिक रीति से अपरिपक्व थे, अभी भी “बालक” ही थे, इसलिए वह उन्हें प्रभु यीशु, मसीही विश्वास, और मसीही जीवन के बारे में केवल बहुत ही आरंभिक बातें ही सिखाने पाया था, क्योंकि वे इससे आगे की कोई बात ग्रहण करने और समझने के योग्य होने की स्थिति में नहीं थे। कलीसिया के रूप में भी उनमें विद्यमान डाह और झगड़े उनकी अभी भी “शारीरिक” होने का प्रमाण थे, अर्थात वे अभी भी शरीर की लालसाओं और अभिलाषाओं को पूरा करने में अधिक रुचि रखते थे, जैसे कि सामान्यतः संसार के लोग करते हैं, बजाए आत्मिक जीवन जीने की इच्छा रखने के। इससे थोड़ा ही पहले, पौलुस ने उन्हें उनकी इस प्रवृत्ति के हानिकारक परिणाम के बारे में बताया था, “परन्तु शारीरिक मनुष्य परमेश्वर के आत्मा की बातें ग्रहण नहीं करता, क्योंकि वे उस की दृष्टि में मूर्खता की बातें हैं, और न वह उन्हें जान सकता है क्योंकि उन की जांच आत्मिक रीति से होती है” (1 कुरिन्थियों 2:14)। तात्पर्य स्पष्ट है, यदि उन्हें विश्वास में और प्रभु में बढ़ना था, तो यह उनके शारीरिक प्रवृत्तियों से निकलने के बाद ही संभव हो सकता था, और उन प्रवृत्तियों के उन में विद्यमान होने का परिणाम और प्रमाण उनमें पाए जाने वाले डाह और झगड़े थे।

 

इससे अगले पद, पद 19 में, पौलुस उनसे उनमें एक-मनता के न पाए जाने के कारण को बताता है, जो एक बार फिर से उसी बात को दोहराना है जिसे वह 1 कुरिन्थियों 1:12-13 और 3:4 में उनसे कह चुका था। उनके मध्य पाए जाने वाली गुट-बाज़ी ही उनमें एक-मनता न होने की जड़ थी। उनके मध्य में यह गुट-बाज़ी इसलिए आने पाई थी क्योंकि उन्होंने ऊपर प्रभु यीशु की ओर देखते रहने और केवल उसी का अनुसरण करते रहने के स्थान पर, उन्होंने अपने आस-पास देखना और व्यक्तिगत रीति से अपने मन-पसंद अगुवे और शिक्षक की ओर देखना, उसका अनुसरण करना आरंभ कर दिया था, और फिर उन अगुवों और शिक्षकों के नाम में आपस में विभाजित होने लग गए थे। जैसा पौलुस इस पद 19 में कहता है, उनकी इस प्रवृत्ति को उनके मध्य के कुछ लोगों ने और बढ़ावा दिया, उसे और उकसाया, क्योंकि यह करने वाले लोग कलीसिया में स्थान और आदर पाना चाहते थे। और उन लोगों के अहं तब ही संतुष्ट हो सकते थे जब वे कलीसिया को भिन्न गुटों में विभाजित करके लोगों पर प्रभाव रख सकें और अपना नियंत्रण ला सकें। लेकिन उन्होंने इस बात का ध्यान नहीं किया कि उनके ऐसा करने के द्वारा एक इकाई के रूप में कलीसिया का, तथा व्यक्तिगत रीति से इस गुट-बाज़ी में फंस जाने वाले लोगों का, कितना नुकसान हो रहा है; क्योंकि इसी के कारण उनकी बढ़ोतरी और उन्नति रुक गई, वे परिपक्व नहीं होने पाए, आत्मिकता और आत्मिक जीवन बाधित हो गया, आशीषों पर रोक लग गई।

 

आज भी यही समस्या कलीसियाओं में और मसीही विश्वासियों की मण्डलियों में भी इसी प्रकार से बनी हुई है - कुछ लोग औरों पर प्रभाव रखना और नियंत्रण करना चाहते हैं, जबकि सामान्यतः अन्य लोगों की प्रवृत्ति होती है कि वे कुछ अगुवों या लोगों की ओर देखें, न कि सभी को सामर्थ्य देने और उन के मध्य में उन अगुवों और शिक्षकों को प्रयोग करने वाले प्रभु परमेश्वर की ओर। इसलिए कुल मिलाकर स्थिति यही हो जाती है, कलीसिया भी हानि उठाती है, तथा व्यक्तिगत सदस्य भी हानि उठाते हैं। न तो कलीसिया की आत्मिक बढ़ोतरी और उन्नति होती है, और न ही व्यक्तिगत रीति से सदस्यों की। इसीलिए, सभी को अपनी अनन्तकालीन आशीषों की हानि उठानी पड़ती है – लोगों द्वारा केवल कुछ समय के नाशमान आदर और ओहदे को पाने के लिए; और शैतान को उनके मध्य सहज और आराम का समय बिताने को मिल जाता है, जबकि प्रभु की इच्छा उन्हें इससे भी कही अधिक बढ़ाकर महिमा और अनन्तकालीन आशीष देने की थी।

 

प्रभु की मेज़ में भाग लेने से पहले, हम सभी के लिए यह अनिवार्य है कि हम यह सुनिश्चित कर लें कि हम प्रभु यीशु मसीह की कलीसिया में गुट-बाज़ी को उत्पन्न करने, या बढ़ावा देने, या किसी भी प्रकार से उसे बनाए रखने में सहयोग देने वाले तो नहीं हैं। इसके स्थान पर, जहाँ कहीं भी हमें यह प्रवृत्ति दिखाई दे, किसी के द्वारा गुट-बाजी को आरंभ करना या उसे उकसाना और बढ़ावा देना, या बनाए रखना, या लोगों में आपस में मतभेदों का उत्पन्न होना और विभाजन आने लग जाना; तो किसी भी अगुवे अथवा शिक्षक का, उसके प्रति आदर रखने के कारण, समर्थन करने के स्थान पर, हमें परिस्थिति पर मनन करना चाहिए, और निष्पक्ष तथा खरे और स्पष्टवादी होकर समस्या और उससे संबंधित अगुवे और शिक्षक का सीधे से सामना करना चाहिए, जैसे पौलुस ने किया, और इस प्रकार से प्रभु यीशु द्वारा कही गई बात, “धन्य हैं वे, जो मेल करवाने वाले हैं, क्योंकि वे परमेश्वर के पुत्र कहलाएंगे” (मत्ती 5:9) को पूरा करना चाहिए। हमारे लिए यह कहीं अधिक उत्तम होगा कि हम परमेश्वर को प्रसन्न करने वाले बनकर उसके पुत्र बनकर आशीष पाएं, न कि मनुष्यों को प्रसन्न करने वाले बनकर उन आशीषों को गँवा दें जो परमेश्वर हमें देना चाहता है।

 

यदि आप एक मसीही विश्वासी हैं, और प्रभु की मेज़ में भाग लेते रहे हैं, तो कृपया अपने जीवन को जाँच कर देख लें कि आप वास्तव में पापों से छुड़ाए गए हैं तथा आप ने अपना जीवन प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता में जीने के लिए उस को समर्पित किया है। आपके लिए यह अनिवार्य है कि आप परमेश्वर के वचन की सही शिक्षाओं को जानने के द्वारा एक परिपक्व विश्वासी बनें, तथा सभी शिक्षाओं को वचन की कसौटी पर परखने, और बेरिया के विश्वासियों के समान, लोगों की बातों को पहले वचन से जाँचने और उनकी सत्यता को निश्चित करने के बाद ही उनको स्वीकार करने और मानने वाले बनें (प्रेरितों 17:11; 1 थिस्सलुनीकियों 5:21)। अन्यथा शैतान द्वारा छोड़े हुए झूठे प्रेरित और भविष्यद्वक्ता मसीह के सेवक बन कर (2 कुरिन्थियों 11:13-15) अपनी ठग विद्या और चतुराई से आपको प्रभु के लिए अप्रभावी कर देंगे और आप के मसीही जीवन एवं आशीषों का नाश कर देंगे।

  

यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

English Translation

The Lord’s Table - Check & Maintain Unity

In the previous article, from 1 Corinthians 11:17, we have seen that Paul through the Holy Spirit, starts addressing the errors which had crept into the Church.  We saw that not only was Paul forthright about his doctrinal stand for the Lord and teaching His Word, but in correcting, he also shows a fatherly love and concern, tells them that their errors are causing harm to them; i.e., his correcting them is not to assert his authority over them, but to pull them out of harm’s way into which they had gone.

 

From verse 18 onwards Paul starts pointing out their errors to them. Their first error that he points out and confronts them about is their lack of unity. In fact, this was also their first error that he had pointed out to them right in the beginning of this letter (1 Corinthians 1:10-13). At the beginning of this letter, in 1 Corinthians 1:10, Paul pleads for unity amongst them. In other words, the first thing expected from them as Christian Believers is that when they gather together as the Church of the Lord Jesus and for partaking of the Holy Communion, they should be as one body in faith. Paul had already pointed out to them that their lack of unity, their having quarrels and contentions, is a sign of their being spiritually immature, carnal, and behaving like mere men (1 Corinthians 3:1-6).

As Paul has pointed out to the Corinthian Believers in 1 Corinthians 3:1-6, their lack of unity, was the cause of their not growing in their faith, they were still “babes in Christ”; therefore, Paul could not speak to them as spiritual people. Because they were spiritually immature, still “babes”, therefore, all he could teach them were the fundamental, very basic things about the Lord, the Christian Faith, and Christian living, since they were in no position to receive or grasp anything over and above that. Their life of strife and divisions as a Church was evidence of their being “carnal”, i.e., still more under the control of their fleshly desires, as the people of the world naturally are, than being desirous of spiritual living. A little above, he had pointed out to them the deleterious consequences of such tendency “But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned” (1 Corinthians 2:14). The implication is evident, if they were to grow in Faith and in the Lord, it could only be after getting out of their carnality, of which their strife and contentions were a consequence and evidence.

In the next verse, verse 19, Paul speaks to them about the cause for their lack of unity, which is again a reiteration of what he had already said to them in 1 Corinthians 1:12-13, and 3:4. The factionalism amongst them was the root cause for their lack of unity. This factionalism amongst them had come in because instead of all of them looking up to the Lord Jesus and following Him and Him alone, they had all started to individually follow their favorite elders and teachers, and broken up into factions in the name of those elders and teachers. This tendency, as Paul says in the second half of verse 19, was stoked up and further nurtured by certain members amongst them who wanted to have approval and recognition in the Church. And, such people could have their egos satisfied only by breaking up the Church into their individual groups and factions which would be under their sway and control. But what they did not realize was the harm this was causing to not only the Church as a unit, but also to the individual members who were caught up in this factionalism and living by it; for because of this they were losing out on their growth, maturity, spirituality, and blessings.

The same problem plagues the Church, the assemblies and gatherings of the Christian Believers even today, and in much the same manner - some people like to hold sway and control others, while people in general have the tendency of looking more towards certain people or their elders than Christ Jesus, of emulating their favorite teachers and preachers, than look to the Lord who empowers and uses those teachers and preachers amongst them. The net result is that the Church suffers, and the individual members suffer as well; neither the Church nor the individual members grow and mature spiritually. Therefore, everybody loses out in their eternal blessings, and Satan has an easy and comfortable time amongst them - all for the sake of a short time of temporal glory; whereas the Lord was wanting to give them a far greater eternal glory.

Before participating in the Lord’s Table, it is essential for each one of us to make sure that we are not the ones who are creating, or promoting, or in some manner even sustaining factionalism in the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ. Rather, wherever we see this tendency of creating or nurturing groupism, or any tendency of people developing and maintaining factionalism or mutual disharmony, instead of siding with one or the other in deference to that person or elder or teacher, we should ponder over, be forthright and confront the problem as well as the problem makers directly as Paul did, and fulfill what the Lord Jesus said, “Blessed are the peacemakers, For they shall be called sons of God” (Matthew 5:9) - it is far better to be seen as a “God-pleaser” and be blessed as a son of God, than to be seen as a man-pleaser and lose out on the blessings God wants to give us.

 

If you are a Christian Believer and have been participating in the Lord’s Table, then please examine your life and make sure that you are actually a disciple of the Lord, i.e., are redeemed from your sins, have submitted and surrendered your life to the Lord Jesus to live in obedience to Him and His Word. You should also always, like the Berean Believers, first check and test all teachings that you receive from the Word of God, and only after ascertaining the truth and veracity of the teachings brought to you by men, should you accept and obey them (Acts 17:11; 1 Thessalonians 5:21). If you do not do this, the false apostles and prophets sent by Satan as ministers of Christ (2 Corinthians 11:13-15), will by their trickery, cunningness, and craftiness render you ineffective for the Lord and cause severe damage to your Christian life and your rewards.

If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord Jesus, then to ensure your eternal life and heavenly rewards, take a decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now. Wherever there is surrender and obedience towards the Lord Jesus, the Lord’s blessings and safety are also there. If you are still not Born Again, have not obtained salvation, or have not asked the Lord Jesus for forgiveness for your sins, then you have the opportunity to do so right now. A short prayer said voluntarily with a sincere heart, with heartfelt repentance for your sins, and a fully submissive attitude, “Lord Jesus, I confess that I have disobeyed You, and have knowingly or unknowingly, in mind, in thought, in attitude, and in deeds, committed sins. I believe that you have fully borne the punishment of my sins by your sacrifice on the cross, and have paid the full price of those sins for all eternity. Please forgive my sins, change my heart and mind towards you, and make me your disciple, take me with you." God longs for your company and wants to see you blessed, but to make this possible, is your personal decision. Will you not say this prayer now, while you have the time and opportunity to do so - the decision is yours.
