कलीसियाई भण्डारीपन - अगुवों की भूमिका 

    आशीषित एवं सफल जीवन जीने की इस ज़ारी श्रृंखला में, हम वास्तव में नया जन्म पाए हुए मसीही विश्वासियों को, उद्धार के साथ ही परमेश्वर द्वारा दिये गये प्रावधानों और विशेष अधिकारों के बारे में सीखते आ रहे हैं। इन प्रावधानों और विशेष अधिकारों में से एक है, सच्चे विश्वासी का कलीसिया तथा अन्य विश्वासियों के साथ संगति में रहने का भण्डारी होना। पिछले लेखों में हमने जो सीखा है, उसके निहितार्थों को देखते समय, हमने देखा था कैसे, यद्यपि परमेश्वर द्वारा उन्हें सौंपी गई उनकी सेवाकाइयाँ और ज़िम्मेदारियाँ अलग-अलग हैं, लेकिन विश्वासी न तो एक-दूसरे से और न ही कलीसिया से अलग हैं। बल्कि जिनके साथ वे संगति रखते हैं, वे उनको, अर्थात, कलीसिया को भी, तथा एक-दूसरे को भी जवाबदेह हैं। आज हम कलीसिया में अगुवों की भूमिका से संबंधित कुछ बातों को देखेंगे, अर्थात, कलीसिया और विश्वासियों के मध्य अगुवों के भण्डारी होने के बारे में।

    परमेश्वर का वचन बाइबल हमें सिखाती है कि स्थानीय कलीसियाओं और उनके सदस्यों को अगुवों की अधीनता में कार्य करना है, जिन्हें उस कलीसिया के संचालन और देख-भाल की ज़िम्मेदारी सौंपी गई है। कलीसिया में विभिन्न प्रकार के अगुवों की नियुक्तियाँ, उनकी भूमिकाएं, कार्य, अधिकार, आदि, एक बड़ा विषय है, और हम उसे यहाँ पर नहीं लेंगे। हम यह देख चुके हैं कि परमेश्वर ने अपनी कलीसिया में प्रत्येक विश्वासी को कुछ ज़िम्मेदारी दी है और करने के लिए कोई न कोई कार्य सौंपा है (इफिसियों 2:10)। विश्वासियों को इन जिम्मेदारियों का निर्वाह करने में सहायता के लिए उन्हें पवित्र आत्मा और उसके वरदान दिए गए हैं, जिनका वे पवित्र आत्मा के मार्गदर्शन और सहायता से उचित उपयोग कर सकते हैं। यद्यपि ये कार्य और ज़िम्मेदारियाँ उस स्थानीय कलीसिया के अगुवों की देख-भाल और निरीक्षण में किए जाने हैं, किन्तु अगुवों को हमेशा यह ध्यान रखना चाहिए कि कलीसिया का स्वामी परमेश्वर ही है। और क्योंकि उन अगुवों को कलीसिया के सदस्यों के ऊपर परमेश्वर द्वारा उनकी देखभाल करने के लिये नियुक्त किया गया है, इसलिए, उन्हें उन के लिए परमेश्वर को हिसाब भी देना होगा (इब्रानियों 13:17)। साथ ही अगुवों को यह भी ध्यान रखना चाहिए कि उनकी अधीनता में रखे गए विश्वासी उनके मूक सेवक या दास नहीं हैं। उनके साथ ऐसे व्यवहार नहीं किया जाना है कि मानों उन्हें कुछ कहने या पूछने का कोई अधिकार नहीं है; वे अगुवे से किसी बात के लिए कोई प्रश्न नहीं कर सकते हैं, और न ही अगुवे के प्रति कोई असहमति दिखा सकते हैं। अगुवों को यह कभी नहीं भूलना चाहिए कि वे भी मात्र मनुष्य ही हैं, तथा अन्य मनुष्यों के समान वे भी गलतियाँ कर सकते हैं, शैतान द्वारा बहकाए और भरमाए जा सकते हैं, तथा शैतान के प्रभाव में स्वयं भी औरों को बहका या भरमा सकते हैं – जानते-बूझते हुए अथवा अनजाने में। परमेश्वर की कलीसिया में, अंतिम अधिकार परमेश्वर का ही है; और उसकी सन्तानों के मध्य में हर बात उसी की इच्छा के अनुसार की जानी है, जैसे वह चाहता है, वैसे की जानी है। इसके लिए सभी आवश्यक निर्देश परमेश्वर ने अपने वचन में पहले से दे दिए हैं। क्योंकि वह कभी भी जो उसने अपने वचन में बता और सिखा दिया है, उससे हटकर, या उसके विपरीत कुछ नहीं कहेगा या करेगा; इसलिए अगुवों को कलीसिया की देखभाल उसी तरह से करनी है जैसे परमेश्वर ने अपने वचन में निर्देश दिए हैं।

    कलीसिया के अगुवों तथा कलीसिया के सदस्यों, दोनों के लिए इस ज़िम्मेदारी के बारे में सीखने और उसका निर्वाह करने को समझने के लिए, एक बहुत सहायक खण्ड 1 पतरस 5:1-5 है। इस खण्ड में, पतरस अगुवों से आग्रह करता, उन्हें समझाता है कि वे एक चरवाहे या रखवाले के समान होकर यह कार्य करें; अर्थात, धैर्य, नम्रता, और मन लगाकर। उनको हमेशा यह याद रखना चाहिये कि वह उनका नहीं बल्कि परमेश्वर का ‘झुण्ड’ है जिसकी वे रखवाली कर रहे हैं; और उसके लिए उन्हें परमेश्वर को जवाब देना है। उन्हें परमेश्वर के झुण्ड की देखभाल नीच-कमाई के लिए नहीं करनी है, न ही उन का उपयोग किसी व्यक्तिगत या भौतिक लाभ के लिए करना है। इसके संदर्भ में एक उत्तम मार्गदर्शिका 1 कुरिन्थियों 9 अध्याय में पौलुस द्वारा लिखी गई बातें हैं, जहाँ पर पौलुस अपनी जिम्मेदारियों, अधिकारों, अधिकार, मेहनताना, और वह किस तरह से परमेश्वर के सेवक होकर कार्य करता है, बताता है। 

    पतरस आगे, पद 3 में, कहता है कि अगुवों को अपने झुण्ड के लिए एक आदर्श बनना चाहिए, न कि उनके ऊपर अधिकार जताना चाहिए, अर्थात उन्हें उदाहरण बनकर अगुवाई करनी चाहिए न कि बल से अथवा मजबूर कर के, और यही हम पौलुस के जीवन में भी देखते हैं। फिर, पद 4 में, पतरस अगुवों को समझाता है कि वे “प्रधान रखवाले” के आने और उन्हें उनके कभी न मुरझाने वाले अनन्तकालीन प्रतिफलों को देने की प्रतीक्षा करनी है; अर्थात वह एक बार फिर यही निहितार्थ व्यक्त करता है कि उन्हें परमेश्वर के झुण्ड से, जो उन्हें सौंपा गया है, भौतिक या सांसारिक लाभ अर्जित करने की न तो लालसा रखनी है, और न ही लाभ अर्जित करने हैं। फिर, पद 5 में, पतरस कलीसिया के लोगों को भी उनकी ज़िम्मेदारी के बारे में बताता है – उन्हें अगुवों के, तथा परस्पर एक-दूसरे के, अधीन होकर रहना चाहिए, तथा सभी बातों में नम्र रहना चाहिए, परमेश्वर द्वारा उन्हें उचित समय पर ऊँचा उठाए जाने की प्रतीक्षा करनी चाहिए (पद 6)। इसलिए, कलीसिया के, तथा सदस्यों के, दोनों के लाभ के लिए, दोनों को ही साथ मिलकर कार्य करना है, एक-दूसरे की सहायता करनी है और एक-दूसरे का पूरक बनना है। क्योंकि कोई एक भी, दूसरे के बिना कार्य नहीं कर सकता है; दोनों को ही अपनी-अपनी ज़िम्मेदारियाँ साथ मिलकर निभानी हैं।

    लूका 12:45-46 में प्रभु ने ऐसे सेवक के बारे में बताया है जिसने स्वामी द्वारा उसे दिए गए अधिकार का दुरुपयोग किया, जो एक बुरा भण्डारी होने का चिह्न है, और जिसका परिणाम घोर ताड़ना है (साथ ही, इसी संदर्भ में यहेजकेल 34 अध्याय भी देखें)। 

    अगले लेख से हम कलीसिया में अनुशासन बनाए रखने के बारे में देखना आरंभ करेंगे।

    यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। स्वेच्छा से अपने पापों के लिये पश्चाताप करके, प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु, मैं अपने पापों के लिए पश्चातापी हूँ, उनके लिए आप से क्षमा माँगता हूँ। मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मुझे और मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

Church Stewardship - Role of Elders

 

    In this ongoing series of living a 'Blessed and Successful Life', we have been learning about the provisions and privileges given by God to the truly Born-Again Christian Believers along with their salvation. One of these provisions and privileges is the true Believer being a steward of the Church and of the fellowship with other believers. While looking at the implications of what we have learnt in the previous articles, we have seen how, even though the ministries and responsibilities entrusted to them by God are different, the Believers are neither separate from one another nor from the Church. Rather, they are accountable to those with whom they fellowship, i.e., to the Church as well as to one another. Today we will look at some things related to the role of the Church Elders, that is, regarding the stewardship of the Elders in the Church and among the believers.

    God’s Word, the Bible teaches us that the local Churches and their members, are to function under the care of certain Elders that have been given the responsibility of looking after and managing the Church. The appointment, role, function, and authority, etc., of various kinds of Church Elders is a vast subject, and we will not be considering it here. We have seen that God has given responsibilities and assigned works to be done for every Believer (Ephesians 2:10) in His Church. The Believers have been given the Holy Spirit and the gifts of the Holy Spirit to fulfill their responsibilities with the help of and under the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Though these works and responsibilities have to be carried out under the supervision and care of Elders of that local Church, but the Elders should always keep in mind that God is still the owner of His Church. And since they, the Elders have been placed over the members by God, to look after them, therefore, they will have to give an account to God for them (Hebrews 13:17). Moreover, the Elders should keep in mind that the Believers placed under them are not their dumb servants, or slaves. They are not to be treated as those who cannot say anything to the Elder, or ask any questions from the Elders, or show any disagreement with the Elders. The Elders should never forget that even they are mere human-beings, and like other human-beings, they too can make mistakes, can be led astray and deceived by Satan, and under the influence of Satan they too can lead others astray as well as deceive them – knowingly or unknowingly. In God’s Church, God is still the final authority; and amongst His children, things have to be done as per His will, the way He wants them done. God has already given all the necessary instructions in His Word for doing this. Since God will never go contrary to His will that He has already expressed in His Word; therefore, the Elders have to take care of the congregation, just as God has instructed in His Word.

    One passage that is of great help in learning about and carrying out this responsibility, by the Elders as well as the congregation in the prescribed manner is 1 Peter 5:1-5. In this passage, Peter exhorts the Elders to function as a shepherd, i.e., patiently, gently, and with perseverance. They must always remember that it is not their own, but God’s flock that they are looking after; so they will have to give an account for them to God. They should not tend God’s flock for dishonest gain, nor try to use it for personal benefit and temporal gains. A good guide for this is Paul’s example in 1 Corinthians chapter 9, where he explains his responsibilities, rights, authority, remuneration and how he functioned as a minister of God. 

    Peter goes on to say in verse 3 that the Elders should set themselves up as examples to God’s flock, and not behave as lords over them; i.e., they should lead by example not force or coercion, as we see from the life of Paul too. Then, in verse 4, Peter urges the Elders to wait for their “Chief Shepherd” to come and give them their eternal, unfading rewards; once again implying that they should not seek and desire getting temporal worldly gains from God’s flock entrusted to them, nor acquire any such benefits. Then, in verse 5, Peter also instructs the congregation about their responsibility – they should submit themselves to the Elders, as well as to each other, and remain humble in all things, waiting for God to exalt them in due time (verse 6). So, for the benefit of the Church and of the congregation, the Elders and the congregation, both have to work hand-in-hand, helping and supplementing each other. One cannot function properly without the other, both have to fulfill their respective responsibilities. 

    In Luke 12:45-46, usurping and misusing the authority given by the Master to His servant, is a sign of bad stewardship, and will invite severe retribution (also see Ezekiel chapter 34 in this context). 

    From the next article we will start considering maintaining discipline in the Church.

Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Voluntarily repent of your sins, and ask the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins; voluntarily and sincerely, surrender yourself to Him - this is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life.  Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.

पवित्र आत्मा से सीखना – 16

नया-जन्म पाया हुआ प्रत्येक मसीही विश्वासी परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा का मन्दिर (1 कुरिन्थियों 3:16; 6:19) तथा भण्डारी भी है, जो उस में उस के उद्धार पाने के क्षण से ही निवास करता है (इफिसियों 1:13-14)। पवित्र आत्मा, परमेश्वर के द्वारा विश्वासी को मसीही जीवन जीने और परमेश्वर द्वारा उसे सौंपी गई सेवकाई के सही निर्वाह में उसका सहायक, साथी, शिक्षक, और मार्गदर्शक होने के लिए दिया गया है (यूहन्ना 14:26; 16:13)। उनका शिक्षक होने के नाते, यदि वे उस से सीखने के लिए तैयार हों, तो पवित्र आत्मा विश्वासियों को परमेश्वर का वचन, बाइबल भी सिखाता है। हम 1 पतरस 2:1-2 से सीख रहे हैं कि विश्वासियों को परमेश्वर का वचन किस प्रकार से सीखना है: उन्हें साँसारिक और शारीरिक व्यवहार से बाहर निकलना है; परमेश्वर के वचन को परमेश्वर ही से सीखने की एक सच्ची लालसा रखनी है; और उनकी उत्कंठा केवल “निर्मल आत्मिक दूध” ही प्राप्त करने की होनी चाहिए, न कि मानवीय विचारों, बुद्धि, और समझ की बातों की मिलावट के साथ परोसे गए ‘दूध’ की। जब विश्वासी केवल पवित्र आत्मा पर सीखने के लिए निर्भर रहते हैं, उसके निर्देशों का पालन करते हैं, तो वह उन्हें “निर्मल आत्मिक दूध” और मिलावटी वचन में पहचान करने की समझ-बूझ और मार्गदर्शन भी प्रदान करता है। यद्यपि परमेश्वर के लोगों के द्वारा अन्य लोगों को सिखाना परमेश्वर द्वारा स्थापित तरीका है (2 तीमुथियुस 2:2), परन्तु क्योंकि मनुष्य सिद्ध नहीं है, चूक सभी से होती है, इसलिये, परमेश्वर की यह आज्ञा भी है कि प्रत्येक शिक्षा को पहले वचन से जाँचा-परखा जाये, और वचन से पुष्टि हो जाने के बाद ही उसे स्वीकार किया जाये (प्रेरितों 17:11; 1 कुरिन्थियों 14:29; 1 थिस्सलुनीकियों 5:21)।  

शैतान, परमेश्वर के वचन को निष्क्रिय करने के लिए, उसमें दो प्रकार से मिलावट करवाता है। एक है, उसके दूतों के द्वारा जान-बूझकर परमेश्वर के वचन और उसकी सही शिक्षाओं में शैतानी झूठ मिला देना; और दूसरा है उन समर्पित विश्वासियों के द्वारा जो वचन की सेवकाई में लगे हैं चुपके से और चालाकी से कोई मिलावट करवा देना। परमेश्वर के वचन के इन प्रचारकों और शिक्षकों के जीवन में यदि कहीं भी कोई ज़रा सा भी पाप, समझौता, या कमज़ोरी होगी, तो वह शैतान को अंदर आकर अपनी झूठी शिक्षाओं के बीज उन में बोने का मार्ग दे देगा, और उन्हें पता भी नहीं चलेगा कि क्या कर दिया गया है। वे विश्वासी अपनी सेवकाई में लगे रहते हैं, अपनी प्रतीत होने में श्रद्धापूर्ण और परमेश्वर के प्रति आदरणीय शिक्षाओं को मानते, सिखाते, और मनवाते रहते हैं, बिना इस बात का एहसास किए कि वास्तव में उनकी शिक्षाएँ भ्रामक और बाइबल से बाहर की हैं, जो उनकी अपनी सोच, समझ, और धारणाओं के अनुसार हैं, न कि परमेश्वर के वचन के। यह बाइबल से बाहर की भ्रामक शिक्षाओं की पहचान करने के लिए एक और पहचान देता है – केवल कुछ विश्वासियों या मण्डलियों के द्वारा ही कुछ विशेष शब्द, अभिव्यक्तियाँ, वाक्यांश, आदि को बोलना; और यह भी या तो आदत के द्वारा अन्यथा किसी की नकल करते हुए, तथा सामान्यतः उन्हें बारंबार दोहराते रहना। परमेश्वर के प्रकाशन और शिक्षाएँ सभी के लाभ और उपयोग जाने लिए होते हैं उसकी सम्पूर्ण कलीसिया के लिए; वह केवल कुछ ही विश्वासियों या कुछ विशिष्ट कलीसियाओं के द्वारा ही प्रयोग किये जाने, और शेष अन्यों द्वारा प्रयोग न करने के लिए नहीं देता है। इसलिए यदि कोई ऐसी बात है जिसका पालन केवल कुछ ही विश्वासी या मण्डलियाँ करती आ रही हैं, शेष नहीं, तो उसे बहुत बारीकी से परमेश्वर के वचन से जाँच-परख लेना चाहिए और पुष्टि होने बाद ही उन्हें परमेश्वर की ओर से दी गई बात स्वीकार करना चाहिए।

परमेश्वर का वचन प्रत्येक मसीही विश्वासी के लिए, विशेषकर जो वचन की सेवकाई में लगे हैं, तीन-स्तर की जाँच-परख प्रदान करता है, यह सुनिश्चित करने के लिए कि शैतान परमेश्वर के वचन में मिलावट करने के अपने उद्देश्य में सफल न होने पाए। पिछले दो लेखों में हमने पहले दो स्तर देखें हैं: पहला, विश्वासी के द्वारा स्वयं अपना आँकलन, उसके द्वारा किसी बात को कहे जाने से पहले उसका यह जाँचना-परखना कि कहीं वह अपनी उस बात में दिए गये लिखित वचन से आगे तो नहीं बढ़ गया है (1 कुरिन्थियों 4:6); और दूसरा, मण्डली के लोगों, विशेषकर जो अगुवे हैं, प्रचारक और शिक्षक हैं, उनके द्वारा जो कुछ भी प्रचार किया और सिखाया जा रहा है उसकी परमेश्वर के वचन से जाँच कर के पुष्टि करना (1 कुरिन्थियों 14:29), और उसके बाद ही उसे स्वीकार कर के पालन करना। आज हम तीसरे स्तर को देखेंगे, आपने आप को वरिष्ठ अगुवों के सामने प्रस्तुत करना, कि किए जा रहे प्रचार की जाँच की जाए।

विश्वासी द्वारा किए जा परमेश्वर के वचन से प्रचार और दी जा रही शिक्षाओं की शुद्धता और खराई की पुष्टि के लिए, परमेश्वर का वचन एक तीसरे स्तर की जाँच-परख के लिए भी कहता है। विश्वासी को कभी-कभी, परमेश्वर के निर्देश में, अन्य वरिष्ठ अगुवों, जो विश्वास और सिद्धान्तों में समान हैं, किन्तु किसी भिन्न स्थान में सेवकाई कर रहे हैं, के पास जा कर अपने प्रचार और शिक्षाओं की सामग्री को रखना चाहिए (गलतियों 2:1-2)। इन पदों में पौलुस द्वारा उसकी जाँच होने के बारे में कही गई तीन बातों पर ध्यान दीजिए: वह 14 वर्ष के पश्चात यरूशलेम को गया; वह “ईश्वरीय प्रकाश के अनुसार” गया; और, उसको एक उद्देश्य के अंतर्गत वहाँ भेज गया “ताकि ऐसा न हो, कि मेरी इस समय की, या अगली दौड़ धूप व्यर्थ ठहरे।” ऐसा नहीं था कि पौलुस जो प्रचार कर रहा था, जो सिखा रहा था, उस में कुछ त्रुटि थी, और न ही यरूशलेम के अगुवों ने उसके प्रचार में कुछ जोड़ा (गलतियों 2:6)। लेकिन फिर भी परमेश्वर ने उसे उनके मध्य जो यरूशलेम में थे, जाँचे-परखे जाने के लिए भेजा, कि कुछ बातें भी सीख सके – वह और उसके साथी भी, तथा आज हम भी। दूसरे शब्दों में, कभी-कभी पवित्र आत्मा उन लोगों को जो वचन की सेवकाई में लगे हैं, और इसलिए शैतान के हमलों के जोखिम में रहते हैं, उन्हें अन्य स्थानों पर रहने वाले वरिष्ठ अगुवों के पास जाकर विचार विमर्श करने के लिए कहता है; लेकिन यह परमेश्वर की अगुवाई में ही होना चाहिए। हम इसी अध्याय में आगे देखते हैं कि बाद में पतरस, अन्‍ताकिया जहाँ पौलुस सेवकाई करता था, आया और वहाँ पर पौलुस ने उसके दोगलेपन के व्यवहार के लिए सबके सामने उसे अच्छे से डाँट लगाई (गलतियों 2:11-14)। अर्थात, यह जाँच-परख, यह आँकलन ईमानदारी से किया जाना चाहिए, व्यक्ति के स्तर या अनुयायियों के अनुसार नहीं; और जो भी गलतियाँ या कमियाँ हों, उन्हें अनदेखा करने की बजाए, खुला प्रकट करना चाहिए, ताकि उन से कलीसिया भ्रष्ट न होने पाए।

यरूशलेम के अगुवों के पास जाने के द्वारा पौलुस ने जाना कि यह करने से परस्पर आदर, संगति और सहभागिता, तथा सामंजस्य को बढ़ावा मिलता है (गलतियों 2:7-9)। लेकिन साथ ही पौलुस ने एक बहुत महत्वपूर्ण पाठ भी सीखा, कि उस उच्च महत्वपूर्ण स्थान, यरूशलेम में भी, जहाँ पर परमेश्वर ने उसका आँकलन होने के लिए उसे भेज था, शैतान के दूत चुपके से घुस आए थे (गलतियों 2:4-5)। दूसरे शब्दों में, ऐसा कोई स्थान, कोई व्यक्ति नहीं है जो शैतान के हमलों से सुरक्षित है, और शैतान हमेशा परमेश्वर के वचन और सेवकाई को बिगाड़ने के लिए कार्य करता ही रहता है। कोई भी व्यक्ति, चाहे वह किसी भी स्तर और अनुभव का क्यों न हो, उसे कभी भी सिद्ध नहीं माना जा सकता है; और इसीलिए हर किसी के प्रचार और शिक्षाओं को अनिवार्य रीति से परमेश्वर के वचन द्वारा जाँचे और परखे जाने की आवश्यकता रहती है, न कि वे यूँ ही अँध-विश्वास कर के स्वीकार किये जाने, पालन किये जाने के।

ध्यान कीजिए कि जाँचने-परखने के तीनों स्तरों – व्यक्तिगत, मण्डली के द्वारा, और वरिष्ठ अगुवों के द्वारा, के लिए पवित्र आत्मा ने पौलुस ही को उदाहरण बनाया है; और वह भी तब नहीं जब वह अपनी सेवकाई के आरंभिक दौर में था, किन्तु कई वर्षों की बहुत ही फलवंत, बहुत जानी-मानी, और बहुत सराहनीय सेवकाई के बाद, जब वह एक अच्छे प्रचारक, कलीसियाएँ स्थापित करने वाले, और सिद्धान्तों की शिक्षा देने वाली पत्रियों का लेखक होने कि लिए भी जाना जा चुका था। दूसरे शब्दों में, परमेश्वर के कार्य में लगा हुआ हर व्यक्ति, चाहे उसकी आयु और अनुभव कितने भी क्यों न हों, उसका जाँचना-परखना, और उसकी बातों की पुष्टि होती रहनी चाहिए, क्योंकि कोई भी ऐसा नहीं है जिसे शैतान बहका या भरमा नहीं सकता है। सभी, सेवकाई में लगे लोगों और मण्डली के सदस्यों को यह जाँच-परख और पुष्टि नियमित रीति से करते रहना चाहिए, यह सुनिश्चित करने के लिए कि श्रोताओं को परमेश्वर के वचन का केवल “निर्मल आत्मिक दूध” ही परोसा जा रहा है, न कि कोई मिलावट किया हुआ।

अगले लेख में हम भजन 25 से देखेंगे कि जो उस से सीखने की खरी लालसा रखते हैं, परमेश्वर कैसे उनकी इस लालसा का आदर करता है, और उन्हें सिखाता है।

Learning From the Holy Spirit – 16

 

Every Born-Again Christian Believer is a Temple of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 3:16; 6:19), and also a steward of God the Holy Spirit, who resides in him since the moment of the Believer’s salvation (Ephesians 1:13-14). The Holy Spirit has been given by God to every Believer, to be their Helper, Companion, Teacher, and Guide (John 14:26; 16:13); to live their Christian lives and fulfil their God given responsibilities. As their Teacher, the Holy Spirit teaches God’s Word, the Bible to the Believers; if they are willing to learn from Him. We are learning from 1 Peter 2:1-2 how the Believers are to learn God’s Word. They must get away from worldly or carnal behavior; must develop a sincere desire to learn God’s word from God; and must have the craving only for the “pure spiritual milk” of the Word of God; not something adulterated with human thoughts, wisdom, and understanding and served to them as ‘milk.’ When the Believers rely only upon the Holy Spirit to learn from Him, and follow His instructions, He gives them the discernment and guidance to recognize the “pure spiritual milk” from the adulterated one. Though God’s people teaching others is a God given method (2 Timothy 2:2), but since no man is perfect, all men are fallible, therefore, God has also commanded that everything taught must first be verified through the Scriptures, and should only be accepted if it is confirmed by the Scriptures (Acts 17:11; 1 Corinthians 14:29; 1 Thessalonians 5:21).

Satan adulterates God’s Word, to render it ineffective by two means, one is through his agents who deliberately adulterate God’s Word and its true teachings with satanic lies; and the other is subtly through committed Believers engaged in the ministry of God’s Word. These preachers and teachers of God’s Word, if there is any sin, compromise, or short-coming in their lives, it lets Satan come in and plant his seeds of deceptions in them, without their realizing what has been done. They carry on in their ministry, believing, preaching, and teaching their seemingly reverential and God honoring, but actually deceptive, false teachings which are based more on their own personal thinking and understanding, than on God’s Word. This serves as another indicator to recognize deceptive, unBiblical teachings – use of words, expressions, phrases by a limited number of Believers or Assemblies, more by habit or copying someone, and keep uttering these expressions repetitively. God’s revelations and instructions are for the benefit and utilization of His entire Church; He does not give them to be used just by a select group of Believers or only certain Assemblies, to the exclusion of others. Therefore, anything limited to having a following in only a small group of Believers or a few Assemblies, should always be minutely evaluated from God’s Word and thoroughly verified, before being accepted as being from God’s Word.

God’s Word provides a three-level cross-checking for every Christian Believer, particularly those engaged in the ministry of God’s Word, to ensure Satan fails in his ploy of adulterating God’s Word. We have seen the first two levels in the previous two articles, i.e., first, self-evaluation by the Believer, cross-checking that he has not gone beyond the written Word of God (1 Corinthians 4:6), before saying it to others; and second, evaluation by the congregation – especially the elders, preachers, and teachers of the Church to cross-check and verify from God’s Word whatever has been preached and taught (1 Corinthians 14:29), before accepting it and following it. Today we will learn the third level, presenting themselves to other senior elders, to cross-check the contents of their preaching.

To verify the purity and accuracy of what the Believer preaches and teaches from God’s Word, God’s Word also prescribes a third level of evaluation. The Believer, intermittently, under the guidance of God, must also share with other Senior Elders in ministry of God’s Word, those who doctrinally are same or similar, but serving in other locations, to evaluate his teachings and doctrines (Galatians 2:1-2). Notice the three things Paul says here about his evaluation: that he went to Jerusalem after 14 years; that he went “by revelation;” and that he was sent there with a purpose “so that I might not be running, or have run the race, in vain.” Not that there was any error in what Paul was preaching, nor did the Elders in Jerusalem have anything to add to his preaching (Galatians 2:6). But still God had sent him amongst those in Jerusalem for getting evaluated, and to learn some things – he and his companions then, and we today. In other words, the Holy Spirit at times will lead those engaged in ministry, and therefore, prone to satanic attacks, to go and consult with other Senior level ministers of God, serving in other locations; yet it should be done under God’s guidance.  We see here in this chapter, that later Peter came to Antioch, where Paul was ministering, and Paul gave him a good dressing down publicly, for his hypocritical behavior (Galatians 2:11-14); i.e., this evaluation should be done honestly, without regard to a person’s status or following; and faults or short-comings, if any should be laid open, instead of being overlooked and then corrupt the Church.

Through this visit to the Elders in Jerusalem, Paul came to know that this promotes and maintains mutual respect, fellowship, and harmony (Galatians 2:7-9). But Paul also learnt another very valuable lesson, Satan’s agents had subtly infiltrated even that high seat (Galatians 2:4-5), Jerusalem, where God had sent Paul to get evaluated. In other words, no place, no person is immune to Satan’s attacks, and Satan always keeps working to subvert God’s Word and ministry in any way that he can. No person, at any level, of any experience, can ever be considered perfect; and hence every one’s preaching and teachings, should necessarily be subjected to evaluation from God’s Word, before blindly accepting, repeating, and following them.

Notice, for all three levels of evaluation – personal, congregational, and Seniors, the Holy Spirit has used Paul as an example; and not when he was in his initial times of serving the Lord, but even after many years of his very fruitful, very well known, and highly appreciated service as a preacher, Church planter, and author of doctrinal letters. In other words, every person, of whatever age or experience in God’s work, should be subjected to evaluation and verification, since no one is safe from being misled by Satan. All, the ministers as well as the congregations need to regularly keep carrying out these checks to ensure that only the “pure spiritual milk” of the Word of God is being dispensed to the audience, instead of something adulterated.

In the next article, we will see from Psalm 25, how God honors and fulfils the desire of those who sincerely desire to learn from Him.

You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life.  Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.

केवल विधिवत निर्धारित पादरी के द्वारा ही? (4)

 

       पिछले लेख में हमने देखा था कि कलीसिया की देखभाल और कार्यों को करने के लिए परमेश्वर ने अपने आज्ञाकारी, समर्पित, और प्रतिबद्ध विश्वासियों में से अगुवे चुने जाने को ठहराया है, और उनके लिए गुण और मानक भी निर्धारित किए हैं। इन गुणों और मानकों में व्यक्ति की शिक्षा अथवा कलीसिया में वरीयता का नहीं, अपितु प्रभु तथा उसकी कलीसिया के प्रति मसीही विश्वासी की प्रतिबद्धता महत्वपूर्ण एवं निर्णायक है। किन्तु औपचारिक धार्मिक शिक्षा तथा विधिवत स्थापना के आधार पर कलीसियाओं में अगुवे और पास्टर होने की नियुक्ति के प्रचलन हो जाने से परमेश्वर के वचन में दिए गए मानकों की प्राथमिकता जाती रही है। इस कारण कलीसियाओं में लोगों पर अधिकार रखने और उन्हें शिक्षाएँ देने के पदों पर बहुधा ऐसे लोग भी आ जाते हैं, जो वास्तव में नया जन्म पाए हुए प्रभु के विश्वासी जन नहीं होते हैं। और उनमें होकर शैतान को बहुत सारी गलत और अनुचित बातों को मसीही समाज में घुसा देने के अवसर एवं माध्यम उपलब्ध हो जाते हैं। आज हम इसी विषय पर परमेश्वर के वचन से कुछ और बातों को देखेंगे।

       हमने 1 कुरिन्थियों 11:17-34 में से प्रभु की मेज़ में भाग लेने से संबंधित गलतियों के अध्ययन के दौरान, कुरिन्थुस के मसीही विश्वासियों में पाई जाने वाली विभिन्न समस्याओं और गलतियों के बारे में देखा था, जिनके लिए पौलुस ने उन्हें फटकार भी लगाई थी। वे सभी लोग, कलीसिया में भी अपनी ही इच्छा और समझ के अनुसार व्यवहार करने लगे थे, जिसको भी जैसा अच्छा लगता, सहज लगता, वे कर लेते थे। लेकिन हमारे प्रश्न के संदर्भ में हमें जिस बात पर ध्यान देना है वह यह है कि पौलुस ने उनमें कभी प्रभु भोज के बारे में किसी पादरी या कलीसिया के अगुवे के द्वारा उसे लोगों में दिए जाने या नहीं दिए जाने की कोई बात नहीं की; इस विषय के सही अथवा गलत, उचित अथवा अनुचित होने को उठाया ही नहीं। इसलिए हम यह समझ सकते हैं कि प्रभु भोज के किसी कलीसिया के अगुवे ही के द्वारा दिए जाने या न दिए जाने की कोई अनिवार्यता नहीं है, यह व्यर्थ विवाद की बात है।

       जब हम लौट कर पुराने नियम में प्रभु भोज के प्ररूप, फसह पर जाते हैं, हम देख चुके हैं कि यह परमेश्वर की ओर से बाध्य किया गया था कि उसे प्रत्येक परिवार में परमेश्वर के द्वारा दिए गए निर्देशों के अनुसार ही तैयार किया और दिया जाए; किन्तु परमेश्वर ने ऐसा कोई निर्देश नहीं दिया कि परिवार में से कौन उसे सदस्यों को देगा। क्योंकि उस समय तक हारून और उसके घराने को तथा लेवियों को याजक होने के लिए नियुक्त नहीं किया गया था, इसलिए बाद में जब उसे सप्ताह भर मनाए जाने वाले वार्षिक पर्व का रूप दिया गया, तब भी उसके मनाने के लिए कोई विधिवत निर्धारित याजक नहीं थे - प्रत्येक परिवार को ही स्वयं ही इस पर्व को मनाना होता था; और याजक नियुक्त हो जाने के बाद भी इसमें कोई संशोधन अथवा परिवर्तन नहीं किया गया। इसलिए पुराने नियम के इस प्ररूप, फसह से भी प्रभु की मेज़ के केवल एक विधिवत निर्धारित पादरी के द्वारा ही दिए जाने का कोई समर्थन नहीं मिलता है।

       इन सभी बातों के बाद, यदि फिर भी कोई यही मान कर चलता है कि यह अनिवार्य है कि इसे कोई विधिवत निर्धारित पादरी ही दे, तो फिर स्वयं प्रभु परमेश्वर द्वारा याजक नियुक्त किए जाने से बढ़कर किसी की विधिवत नियुक्ति और पहचान क्या होगी? निश्चय ही परमेश्वर की नियुक्ति से बढ़कर या उच्च तो और कोई नियुक्ति हो ही नहीं सकती है। परमेश्वर का वचन कहता है कि परमेश्वर की प्रत्येक संतान, नया-जन्म पाए हुए उसके मसीही विश्वासी उसके याजक हैं (1 पतरस 2:9; प्रकाशितवाक्य 1:6; 5:10)। इसलिए किसी को भी प्रभु भोज को किसी भी प्रतिबद्ध मसीही विश्वासी से लेने में कोई संकोच नहीं होना चाहिए, चाहे उस विश्वासी ने किसी बाइबल कॉलेज या सेमनरी से कोई औपचारिक शिक्षा, डिग्री, और विधिवत नियुक्ति ली हो अथवा नहीं ली हो। यदि स्वयं परमेश्वर ने प्रतिबद्ध मसीही विश्वासियों को अपने याजक स्वीकार कर लिया है, तो क्या किसी मनुष्य को उन्हें अस्वीकार करने का अधिकार है? और यदि वे अस्वीकार करते हैं, तो क्या यह परमेश्वर को तुच्छ जानना नहीं है; क्या उनकी इस धृष्टता के लिए वे परमेश्वर को जवाबदेह नहीं होंगे?

       अगले लेख में हम देखेंगे कि मसीही विश्वास में आने के कितने समय बाद प्रभु की मेज़ में भाग लेना उचित है। यदि आप एक मसीही विश्वासी हैं, और प्रभु की मेज़ में भाग लेते रहे हैं, तो कृपया अपने जीवन को जाँच कर देख लें कि आप वास्तव में पापों से छुड़ाए गए हैं तथा आप ने अपना जीवन प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता में जीने के लिए उस को समर्पित किया है। आपके लिए यह अनिवार्य है कि आप परमेश्वर के वचन की सही शिक्षाओं को जानने के द्वारा एक परिपक्व विश्वासी बनें, तथा सभी शिक्षाओं को वचन की कसौटी पर परखने, और बेरिया के विश्वासियों के समान, लोगों की बातों को पहले वचन से जाँचने और उनकी सत्यता को निश्चित करने के बाद ही उनको स्वीकार करने और मानने वाले बनें (प्रेरितों 17:11; 1 थिस्सलुनीकियों 5:21)। अन्यथा शैतान द्वारा छोड़े हुए झूठे प्रेरित और भविष्यद्वक्ता मसीह के सेवक बन कर (2 कुरिन्थियों 11:13-15) अपनी ठग विद्या और चतुराई से आपको प्रभु के लिए अप्रभावी कर देंगे और आप के मसीही जीवन एवं आशीषों का नाश कर देंगे।

       In the previous article we had seen that God has ordained that to look after and do the works of His Church, people should be appointed from amongst those who are the obedient, surrendered, and committed Believers, based on the criteria He has determined and given for them. In these criteria, we had seen that there is no mention of the educational status and level or of the person’s seniority in the Church; rather, the deciding factor is the person’s commitment towards the Lord and His Church. But, after the criteria of formal religious education and ritual ordination took over as the basis for appointing the elders and pastors in the churches, the primary importance of the God given criteria got lost. Because of this, amongst the churches often people who are not actually the Born—Again Believers in the Lord Jesus get into positions of authority and teaching the congregation. Through such people, Satan gets the opportunity and way to bring in many wrong and inappropriate things into Christianity. Today, we will continue considering some more things from God’s Word about this.

       In our study on the pitfalls in partaking of the Lord’s Table from 1 Corinthians 11:17-34, we have seen various problems and misconceptions prevalent amongst the Corinthian Believers, for which Paul even admonishes them. In the Church, they all were doing things on their own, according to their own understanding, and as suited their convenience and fancy. But the thing for us to note in context of our question is that Paul never mentioned the Lord’s Table being served, or not being served, by a Pastor or Church Elder as an issue of any importance or validity in the Church, an issue that required rectification, as the other issues did. So, we can surmise from this that the Lord’s Table being served or not being served by a Church elder or leader is inconsequential, and cannot be considered a mandatory requirement in the Church.

       When we go back to the Old Testament, to the Passover, the antecedent of the Lord’s Table, we had seen that it was to be prepared and served in the family in a particular manner, in the way instructed and ordained by God; but God did not specify who in the family was to serve it. Since, till the time of the giving of the Passover regulations, the Levites and Aaron’s descendants had not been made the Priests, therefore, later when it was made into a week-long Passover festival, there were still no ‘ordained’ or designated priests to do this - every family had to do it on their own; even after the Priests had been appointed, there was no change in this observance. Therefore, from the Old Testament antecedent, the Passover, no support can be derived for this supposition of the Lord’s Table necessarily being served by an ordained priest.

       In any case, if anyone still thinks it necessary for this to be done only by an ordained Priest or Pastor, then what greater or better ordination and recognition can be there, than the one given by the Lord God Himself. Surely, no other ordination and recognition can be over and above that. God’s Word declares each and every one of His children, all the Born-Again Christian Believers as His Priests (1 Peter 2:9; Revelation 1:6; 5:10). So, no one should have any hesitation in receiving the Holy Communion from a committed Christian Believer, whether or not he has received any formal education, degree, and ordination from a Bible College or Seminary. If God has accepted the actual committed Believers as His Priest, does any man have the authority to refuse it? And, if they do, are they not belittling God; and will they not be accountable for their folly?

       In the next article we will consider how long after coming to the Christian Faith can one take part in the Lord’s Table. If you are a Christian Believer and have been participating in the Lord’s Table, then please examine your life and make sure that you are actually a disciple of the Lord, i.e., are redeemed from your sins, have submitted and surrendered your life to the Lord Jesus to live in obedience to Him and His Word. You should also always, like the Berean Believers, first check and test all teachings that you receive from the Word of God, and only after ascertaining the truth and veracity of the teachings brought to you by men, should you accept and obey them (Acts 17:11; 1 Thessalonians 5:21). If you do not do this, the false apostles and prophets sent by Satan as ministers of Christ (2 Corinthians 11:13-15), will by their trickery, cunningness, and craftiness render you ineffective for the Lord and cause severe damage to your Christian life and your rewards.

       If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord Jesus, then to ensure your eternal life and heavenly rewards, take a decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now. Wherever there is surrender and obedience towards the Lord Jesus, the Lord’s blessings and safety are also there. If you are still not Born Again, have not obtained salvation, or have not asked the Lord Jesus for forgiveness for your sins, then you have the opportunity to do so right now. A short prayer said voluntarily with a sincere heart, with heartfelt repentance for your sins, and a fully submissive attitude, “Lord Jesus, I confess that I have disobeyed You, and have knowingly or unknowingly, in mind, in thought, in attitude, and in deeds, committed sins. I believe that you have fully borne the punishment of my sins by your sacrifice on the cross, and have paid the full price of those sins for all eternity. Please forgive my sins, change my heart and mind towards you, and make me your disciple, take me with you." God longs for your company and wants to see you blessed, but to make this possible, is your personal decision. Will you not say this prayer now, while you have the time and opportunity to do so - the decision is yours.

       जब मसीह यीशु के अनुयायी और मण्डलियाँ संख्या और आकार में बढ़ने लगीं, अन्य-जातियों में भी फैलने लगीं, तब, जो लोग प्रभु यीशु का अनुसरण करने और उसकी आज्ञाकारिता में चलने के लिए प्रतिबद्ध थे, स्वयं प्रभु ने ही उन लोगों में से ऐसे लोगों को खड़ा किया और नियुक्त किया जो, उसमें सेवकाई तथा उसकी उन्नति के लिए, उसकी कलीसिया की देखभाल करें (इफिसियों 4:11-13)। यद्यपि कलीसिया की जिम्मेदारियों के निर्वाह के लिए यह नियुक्ति मनुष्यों की सहायता से करवाई गई (प्रेरितों 6:1-7; 14:23; तीतुस 1:5), किन्तु उन लोगों का चुनाव करना मानवीय बुद्धि, समझ, और पसंद पर नहीं छोड़ दिया गया। इस चुनाव को करने के लिए परमेश्वर ने कुछ गुण और मानक निर्धारित कर के दे दिए जिनके आधार पर कलीसिया की देखभाल करने वाले ज़िम्मेदार भाइयों की नियुक्ति की जानी थी (प्रेरितों 6:3; 1 तिमुथियुस 3:1-7; तीतुस 1:5-9)। यहाँ, कृपया इस बात पर अवश्य ध्यान दीजिए कि ये सभी गुण व्यक्ति के विश्वास, चरित्र, परिवार की देखभाल करने की क्षमता, तथा प्रभु के प्रति प्रतिबद्धता पर आधारित थे। किसी के भी शैक्षिक स्तर, या धार्मिक ज्ञान का कोई उल्लेख नहीं किया गया है। न ही उनके किसी प्रकार से औपचारिक शिक्षा प्राप्त होने और विधिवत पद पर निर्धारित किए जाने का कोई उल्लेख है। और, न ही उनकी यह नियुक्ति उनकी आयु या कलीसिया में वरीयता के स्तर के अनुसार की गई।

       एक बार जब कलीसियाओं में कलीसिया की ज़िम्मेदारियाँ निभाने की बागडोर औपचारिक रीति से बाइबल की शिक्षा पाए हुए पादरियों के हाथों में चली गई, जो एक निर्धारित समय तक शिक्षण संस्थानों में समय बिताने और उनकी परीक्षाओं में सफल होने के आधार पर विधिवत नियुक्त किए गए थे, तो उसके बाद सामान्यतः, मण्डली के लोगों ने भी परमेश्वर के वचन को सीखने और उसका पालन करने की अपनी जिम्मेदारी को तज दिया, और इसे भी इन्हीं शिक्षा प्राप्त और ज्ञानी लोगों को सौंप दिया। फिर धीरे से, बाइबल में दिए गए गुणों और तरीके के अनुसार कलीसिया के अगुवों की नियुक्ति भी हट गई, तथा कलीसिया की देखभाल और संचालन भी मनुष्यों द्वारा बनाई गई विधियों और उन्हीं के द्वारा निर्धारित गुणों के अनुसार की जाने लगी। अब यह सब उस औपचारिक शिक्षा के अनुसार होने लगा, न कि व्यक्ति के परमेश्वर और उसके वचन के प्रति प्रतिबद्ध और आज्ञाकारी होने के आधार पर। यह एक भली-भांति जाना और माना जाने वाला तथ्य है कि प्रत्येक वह व्यक्ति जो इस प्रकार की शिक्षा और प्रशिक्षण से होकर निकलता है, आवश्यक नहीं है कि वह वास्तव में नया-जन्म पाया हुआ मसीही विश्वासी भी हो। बहुत से ऐसे भी होते हैं जो इस प्रशिक्षण को केवल इसलिए करते हैं जिससे उन्हें कोई नौकरी मिल सके, किसी कलीसिया में किसी काम पर रखा जा सके, या कहीं पर पादरी की नियुक्ति हो जाए। इसके कारण शैतान को कलीसियाओं में अपनी विनाशकारी गलत शिक्षाओं को घुसा देने का सुनहरा अवसर मिल गया, और वह मंडली के लोगों में मत्ती 15:13-14 की स्थिति को भी ले आया। लेकिन भोलेपन में बहकावे पड़ने की प्रवृत्ति रखने वाले मण्डली के लोग अपनी मूर्खता में यही समझ और मान कर चलते हैं कि जो कोई भी पुल्पिट पर खड़ा होगा, वह परमेश्वर के प्रतिनिधि के समान परमेश्वर के वचन से परमेश्वर की बात ही बोलेगा। उनको इसका ध्यान नहीं रहता है कि ऐसे लोगों की कोई कमी नहीं है जो पुल्पिट पर खड़े होकर, परमेश्वर के वचन के दुरुपयोग के द्वारा, शैतान के प्रतिनिधि होकर बोलते हैं। क्योंकि शैतान तो झूठा है (यूहन्ना 8:44) और धोखेबाज़ भी; वह और उसके दूत मसीह के प्रेरित, ज्योतिर्मय स्‍वर्गदूतों और धार्मिकता के सेवकों का भेस धर कर लोगों को बहकाते और भरमाते हैं (2 कुरिन्थियों 11:3, 13-15), और उन्हें बहुत हानि या विनाश में ले जाते हैं। इसलिए ऐसे पादरियों और धार्मिक अगुवों के प्रति सचेत रहकर उन्हें जाँचते- परखते रहने की बहुत आवश्यकता है।

    हम इस विषय पर विचार करना तथा बाइबल से कुछ अन्य सम्बन्धित बातों को देखना, अगले लेख में भी ज़ारी रखेंगे।

    यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

Administered Only By An Ordained Pastor? (3)

 

       In our study on the Holy Communion, we are now looking into some issues related to participation in it, because there are different view-points in different denominations, sects, and groups about them. We are looking into these issues only from God’s Word the Bible, and not from the texts or teachings of any denominations, sect or group. We had first seen about the frequency and time interval between successive participations of the Lord’s Table. Then we had considered some aspects from the Bible, about the very common understanding and belief that the sacraments, including the Lord’s Table can only be administered by an ordained Pastor. We had seen that there is nothing in the Bible to support or affirm this commonly held position, and therefore, it is not a God given, but a man-made regulation. Today we will see further about this, and learn some more from God’s Word about the alleged necessity of the Holy Communion being administered only by an ordained Pastor.

       As the followers of the Lord and the Churches grew in size and number, even amongst the Gentiles, then from amongst those disciples who made a commitment to the Lord to obey and follow His Word and Him, it was the Lord who appointed people to fulfil various responsibilities of managing His Church, for ministry and edification of the Church (Ephesians 4:11-13). Although this appointment to manage Church responsibilities was done through human agency (Acts 6:1-7; 14:23; Titus 1:5), but this selection was not to be done based on human wisdom, understanding, and preferences; there were certain God given criteria for selecting the responsible brethren to manage the affairs of the Church (Acts 6:3; 1 Timothy 3:1-7; Titus 1:5-9). Do notice that all these criteria were about the person's faith, character, managing his family, and commitment to the Lord. There was no mention of any educational qualifications, or of any religious knowledge, nor of any formal ordination being done for their appointment; nor was it based upon their age or seniority in the Church.

       Once formal Bible education and training, awarding of degrees or qualifications based upon completing a certain time period in an educational institution and clearing of examinations, and such formally trained people then being ordained as Pastors to take over the responsibilities of managing the Church came about and got established in the Church, the congregation too, generally speaking, gave up and handed over their responsibility of learning God’s Word and obeying it, to these formally educated and learned people. Gradually, the Biblical criteria and method of appointing Church elders and managers and managing the affairs of the Church was replaced by man-made criteria and methods, based on the formal educational levels and status, rather than the person’s commitment to the Lord and obedience to His Word. It is a well-known fact that not everyone who undergoes this training and education is actually a Born-Again committed Christian Believer. But many undergo this training just to get employment, so that by virtue of their educational qualifications, they get appointed as workers in some Church, or as Pastors of Churches. This has provided Satan a golden opportunity to bring in his destructive heresies, and precipitate the state of Matthew 15:13-14 for the congregation. But the gullible congregation naively expects and trusts that everyone standing on the pulpit will speak the Word of God as a spokesman for God, little realizing that there is no dearth of those who stand on the pulpit, as spokesmen of Satan, and misuse God’s Word to deceive. For Satan is a liar (John 8:44) and a deceiver; he and his angels present themselves as workers of Christ, angels of light, and ministers of righteousness to lead people away into harm and destruction (2 Corinthians 11:3, 13-15). Hence due discernment towards such religious leaders and Pastors is essential.

       We will carry on considering this topic and seeing some related things from the Bible in the next article.

पवित्र आत्मा की अगुवाई में प्रेरित पौलुस ने कुरिन्थुस की कलीसिया को यह पत्री लिखी, उनके मसीही विश्वास और जीवन में घुस आई बहुत सी गलत बातों और शिक्षाओं की ओर उनका ध्यान खींचने और सुधारने का मार्ग बताने के लिए। उनके मसीही विश्वास और जीवन का ऐसा कोई क्षेत्र नहीं था जो शैतान की बातों से अछूता रहा हो; उसने अपनी गलत शिक्षाओं और झूठे सिद्धांतों के द्वारा उनके मसीही जीवन के हर पक्ष को बिगाड़ दिया था, भ्रष्ट कर दिया था; प्रभु भोज में सम्मिलित होना भी इसी प्रकार से शैतान द्वारा बिगाड़ दिया गया था। पौलुस ने इस विषय - मसीही विश्वासी के द्वारा प्रभु भोज में सम्मिलित होना, को 1 कुरिन्थियों 11:17 से लिया है। वह इसमें हो रही गलतियों को बताता है, उन्हें प्रभु की मेज़ के बारे में सिखाता है, और बताता है कि उन गलतियों को किस प्रकार सुधारा जाए।

पौलुस, यहाँ पर पद 17 का आरंभ एक विचित्र वाक्य “परन्तु यह आज्ञा देते हुए, मैं तुम्हें नहीं सराहता,...” के साथ करता है; पौलुस परमेश्वर के वचन और मसीही विश्वास के प्रति बहुत खरा और स्पष्टवादी था। हम इस अध्याय के आरंभ में, पद 2 में देखते हैं कि वह उन लोगों की सराहना कर रहा है क्योंकि वे उसे याद रखते थे और जो ‘व्यवहार’ उसने उन्हें सिखाए थे, उन्हें धारण भी किए हुए थे। लेकिन क्योंकि वे लोग उसके प्रति स्नेह और आदर का रवैया रखते थे, इसका यह अर्थ नहीं था कि वह उनकी त्रुटियों और बुराइयों की अनदेखी कर देगा। उसकी जवाबदेही प्रभु परमेश्वर के प्रति थी, किसी मनुष्य या मनुष्यों के किसी समुदाय के प्रति नहीं। पौलुस की पहली प्राथमिकता थी कि वह यह सुनिश्चित करे कि मसीही विश्वासियों में परमेश्वर के वचन का पालन, उसका अनुसरण हो रहा है कि नहीं, जैसा कि वह इस अध्याय के पहले पद में अभिप्राय देता है। यदि कहीं पर कोई समझौता था, कोई दुरुपयोग, किसी गलत रीति से व्याख्या या कोई गलतफहमी, तो तुरन्त ही उसके साथ व्यवहार करने और उसे सुधारे जाने की आवश्यकता था, किसी भी कीमत पर; उसके ऐसा करने के विषय चाहे कोई भी कुछ भी कहे अथवा सोचे। वह कुरिन्थुस के मसीही विश्वासियों को पहले ही बता चुका था कि वह उन से अपने आत्मिक बच्चों के समान व्यवहार कर रहा था, और उन्हें सुधारने के लिए जो भी आवश्यक हो, वह करने के लिए तैयार था - सिर्फ उलाहना देना ही नहीं, यदि आवश्यक हो तो छड़ी उठाने के लिए भी तैयार था (1 कुरिन्थियों 4:14-21); क्योंकि पौलुस ने उनके मध्य डेढ़-वर्ष तक परिश्रम किया था, उन्हें परमेश्वर का वचन सिखाया था (प्रेरितों 18:1, 11)। इसलिए प्रभु भोज में भाग लेने से संबंधित गलतियों को संबोधित करने वाले इस खण्ड के आरंभ ही में, हमें पहली शिक्षा मिलती है, विशेषकर कलीसिया के अगुवों, वचन के प्रचारकों और शिक्षकों के लिए - प्रभु और उसके वचन को आदर देने वाले बनें, न कि किसी व्यक्ति अथवा व्यक्तियों को। विनम्र रहें, किन्तु कोई समझौता नहीं करें, कोई पक्षपात नहीं, और खरे तथा स्पष्टवादी रहें। कलीसिया की बढ़ोतरी एवं उन्नति के लिए ही गलतियों को दिखा कर उन्हें सुधारने का मार्ग बताएं।

English Translation

The Lord’s Table - Correct People Only for Edification (1)

The Apostle Paul, under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, wrote this letter to the Church at Corinth to point out and show them the way to correct the many false practices about their Christian faith that had come up amongst them. There was no area of Christian Faith and living that had been left untouched by Satan, he had corrupted every aspect of their Christian life and brought in his wrong teachings and false doctrines; their participation in the Lord’s Table too had been corrupted by Satan. In 1 Corinthians 11:17 onwards, Paul takes up this topic - Christian Believer’s partaking of the Holy Communion; he points out their mistakes and errors, and instructs them about the Lord’s Table and about correcting their errors and mistakes.

Paul begins verse 17 with a peculiar sentence, “Now in giving these instructions I do not praise you…”; Paul was very forthright and straightforward about things related to the Christian Faith and God’s Word. We see at the beginning of this chapter, in verse 2, that he is praising them for remembering him and for keeping the traditions or ordinances that he had delivered to them. But this did not mean that he would overlook their short-comings in response to their affectionate and obedient attitude towards him. His accountability was to the Lord God, not any person or group of persons, nor any Church or Assembly. Paul’s first priority was to ensure that God’s Word was being followed, as he implies in verse 1 of this chapter. If there was any compromise, any misapplication, mishandling, misuse, or misunderstanding about God’s Word, that had to be handled and corrected, he did it straightaway, at any cost; whatever anyone may say or feel about his doing it. He had already pointed out to the Corinthian Believers earlier that he was dealing with them as his spiritual children, and was willing to do whatever was necessary to correct them - not just admonish, but even use a rod if necessary (1 Corinthians 4:14-21); for Paul had labored amongst the Corinthians for a year and a half, teaching them the Word of God (Acts 18:1, 11). So, right in the beginning of the section of this letter dealing with errors in partaking in the Holy Communion, we have the first teaching, especially for elders, preachers, and teachers in the Lord’s Church - be the one who respects the Lord and His Word, instead of being those who respect people or any person. Be gentle, but be uncompromising, impartial, and forthright; point out and correct errors for the growth and edification of the Church.

Then, in the second half of this verse, before pin-pointing the errors, he points out to them the overall consequences of what they were doing “...since you come together not for the better but for the worse” - their gathering together for the Lord’s Table, instead of benefitting them, was in fact causing them harm, and he wanted to correct that. We again see a fatherly concern, that his spiritual children should not come to any harm. Paul is telling them that he is not nit-picking on them; he is not doing it to humiliate them or put them down in any way. But he is pointing these things out to them to help and benefit them, since their errors were turning out to be counterproductive for their lives - spiritually as well as physically, as we see stated towards the end of this chapter. That brings to us the second lesson, again, especially for elders, preachers, and teachers in the Lord’s Church - be sincere and well-meaning; correct for the growth and edification of the person or the Church, instead of just being dogmatic, or settling scores with someone, or simply to assert your spiritual authority (1 Peter 5:1-4).

Wherever there is surrender and obedience towards the Lord Jesus, the Lord’s blessings and safety are also there. If you are still not Born Again, have not obtained salvation, or have not asked the Lord Jesus for forgiveness for your sins, then you have the opportunity to do so right now. A short prayer said voluntarily with a sincere heart, with heartfelt repentance for your sins, and a fully submissive attitude, “Lord Jesus, I confess that I have disobeyed You, and have knowingly or unknowingly, in mind, in thought, in attitude, and in deeds, committed sins. I believe that you have fully borne the punishment of my sins by your sacrifice on the cross, and have paid the full price of those sins for all eternity. Please forgive my sins, change my heart and mind towards you, and make me your disciple, take me with you." God longs for your company and wants to see you blessed, but to make this possible, is your personal decision. Will you not say this prayer now, while you have the time and opportunity to do so - the decision is yours.
