परमेश्वर की आराधना पर ज़ारी हमारे इस बाइबल अध्ययन में, पिछले कुछ लेखों से, हम मसीही विश्वासी के उस प्रकार के आराधक में परिवर्तित होने के, जैसा परमेश्वर चाहता है कि वह हो, अर्थात जो आत्मा और सच्चाई से प्रभु की आराधना करता हो, के कदमों को देखते आ रहे हैं। हम इसका अध्ययन 2 इतिहास 29 अध्याय से कर रहे हैं, जहाँ पर यह प्रक्रिया दी गई है। हम यह देख चुके हैं कि इस प्रक्रिया के चार कदम हैं, जिनमें से तीन को हम अभी तक देख चुके हैं। ये तीन कदम हैं, विश्वासी का यह दृढ़ निश्चय करना कि वह परमेश्वर का आज्ञाकारी और पूर्णतः प्रतिबद्ध अनुयायी बनेगा, और फिर इस निर्णय को व्यवहारिक रीति से अपने जीवन में प्रदर्शित करे। दूसरा कदम है पवित्र आत्मा के मंदिर, अपने हृदय को खोल कर स्वच्छ करना जिससे वह पवित्र आत्मा के निवास के लिए उपयुक्त हो; उसके द्वार की मरम्मत करना; अर्थात अपने हृदय में अन्दर आने वाली और बाहर जाने वाली बातों को नियंत्रित रखना; पवित्र आत्मा के कहे को सुनने और उसका पालन करने के लिए संवेदनशील होना। तीसरा कदम है यह एहसास बनाए रखना कि क्योंकि परमेश्वर ने प्रत्येक मसीही विश्वासी को अपना याजक घोषित किया हुआ है, इसलिए उस ज़िम्मेदारी के अनुसार कार्यकारी होना; अर्थात परमेश्वर के वचन को सीखना और जानना; पवित्र आत्मा के मंदिर, अपने हृदय की स्वच्छता को बनाए रखना, और मंदिर की वस्तुओं को उनके स्थान पर व्यवस्थित एवं उपयोगी रखना; और परमेश्वर के प्रतिनिधि के समान कार्य करना। मसीही विश्वासी के व्यवहारिक मसीही जीवन में इसका अर्थ है बाइबल की बातों से भली-भांति अवगत होना और उनको सीखना, एक शुद्ध और समर्पित हृदय को बनाए रखना, आत्मिक महत्व की बातों, जैसे कि बाइबल अध्ययन, परमेश्वर के साथ संगति करना, परमेश्वर के लोगों के साथ संगति बनाए रखना, आदि की प्राथमिकता एवं उनके उचित स्थान को अपने जीवन में फिर से स्थापित करना, उसका निर्वाह करना, और परमेश्वर जो भी बातें अपने वचन या हमारे अनुभवों के द्वारा हमें सिखाता है, उन्हें औरों के साथ बांटने के लिए तैयार रहना, अर्थात, प्रेरितों 2:42 के अनुसार चलना। एक बार जब ये पहले तीन कदम मसीही विश्वासी के जीवन में पूरे हो जाते हैं, क्योंकि उन्हें न तो अधूरा छोड़ा जा सकता है, और न ही मात्र औपचारिकता के समान, केवल दिखने भर के लिए निभाया जा सकता है, केवल तब ही वास्तविक आराधना का आरंभ हो सकता है, और आज से हम इसी के बारे में देखना आरंभ करेंगे।

चौथा कदम: 2 इतिहास 29:20-36 – आराधना करने का आरंभ 

जिस स्थान पर यह पूरी प्रक्रिया दी गई है, अर्थात 2 इतिहास 29 अध्याय में, वहाँ पर हम स्पष्ट देखते हैं कि जब तक परमेश्वर के मंदिर को खोल कर, उसकी मरम्मत और सफाई नहीं की गई, उसे शुद्ध और पवित्र नहीं किया गया, जब तक याजकों और लेवियों को तथा मंदिर की वस्तुओं को भी शुद्ध और पवित्र कर के उनके स्थानों पर बहाल और उपयोग होने की स्थिति में नहीं किया गया, तब तक आराधना, अर्थात भेंटों और बलिदानों का चढ़ाना आरंभ नहीं हुआ। जब तक ये सारी बातें उचित रीति से पूरी नहीं की गईं, तब तक पूरे वृतांत में कहीं पर भी कैसी भी आराधना का, न व्यक्तिगत और न ही सामूहिक का, कोई भी उल्लेख है। हो सकता है कि कुछ लोग अपने घरों में या किसी आराधनालय में एक रीति अथवा परमेश्वर के प्रति श्रद्धा के अनुसार किसी प्रकार की कोई आराधना कर रहे होंगे, किन्तु उसका कोई उल्लेख नहीं है, अर्थात उसका कोई महत्व यहाँ पर नहीं है। लेकिन परमेश्वर जो आराधना चाहता है, जिस आराधना के द्वारा आराधक के जीवन में आशीष और लाभ आते हैं, जो आराधना औरों के सामने परमेश्वर की महिमा करती है और लोगों को परमेश्वर की ओर आकर्षित करती है, वैसी आराधना का आरंभ केवल तब ही हो सका जब ये पहले तीन कदम ठीक से पूरे कर लिए गए।

यह एक बार फिर से दिखाता है कि मसीही विश्वासी के लिए अपने विश्वास के अनुसार जीवन जीना, अपने विश्वास को व्यवहारिक रीति से प्रदर्शित करना, जो समर्पण और निर्णय उसने प्रभु को उद्धारकर्ता ग्रहण करते समय किया था उसके प्रति खरा और प्रतिबद्ध रहना कितना महत्वपूर्ण है। यदि हम इसमें चूक करते हैं, संसार के साथ समझौते का जीवन जीते हैं, परमेश्वर के प्रति अपनी प्रतिबद्धता का निर्वाह नहीं करते हैं, तो हानि हमारी ही होती है, परमेश्वर की नहीं। अय्यूब की पुस्तक में, हमारे इस अध्ययन से संबंधित एक बहुत महत्वपूर्ण प्रश्न उठाया गया है, “क्या पुरुष से ईश्वर को लाभ पहुंच सकता है? जो बुद्धिमान है, वह अपने ही लाभ का कारण होता है। क्या तेरे धमीं होने से सर्वशक्तिमान सुख पा सकता है? तेरी चाल की खराई से क्या उसे कुछ लाभ हो सकता है?” (अय्यूब 22:2-3)। व्यवस्थाविवरण की पुस्तक मूसा द्वारा इस्राएल के मिस्र के दासत्व और उत्पीड़न से छुटकारे, परमेश्वर द्वारा इस्राएलियों को व्यवस्था दिए जाने और वाचा किए हुए देश की ओर उनकी यात्रा के दौरान उन्हें सिखाने और निर्देश देने के बातों का संक्षिप्त विवरण है। इस पुस्तक का वृतांत यह स्पष्ट दिखाता है कि परमेश्वर की अनाज्ञाकारिता करने से हमेशा ही परेशानियाँ आई हैं; और आज्ञाकारिता के कारण वे हमेशा आशीषित और सुरक्षित रहे हैं। स्वयं परमेश्वर ने इस बात को कहा है, “भला होता कि उनका मन सदैव ऐसा ही बना रहे, कि वे मेरा भय मानते हुए मेरी सब आज्ञाओं पर चलते रहें, जिस से उनकी और उनके वंश की सदैव भलाई होती रहे!” (व्यवस्थाविवरण 5:29)।

वैसे आराधक जैसे परमेश्वर ढूँढ़ रहा है, अर्थात् जो उसके ‘प्रोसक्यूनियोटीस’ हों, यानि कि वे जो उसके समक्ष ‘प्रोस्क्यूनियोस’ करते हैं, बनना अनिवार्य है; विश्वासी को पूर्णतः समर्पित, प्रतिबद्ध, और परमेश्वर तथा उसके वचन का आज्ञाकारी होना होगा। केवल तब ही व्यक्ति आत्मा और सच्चाई से परमेश्वर की आराधना कर सकता है, और भौतिक तथा आत्मिक आशीषों दोनों प्रकार की अद्भुत और विलक्षण आशीषों का भागीदार बन सकता है। आने वाले लेखों में हम इस चौथे कदम को पूरा करने के चार चरणों को देखेंगे, जिनके द्वारा पहले तीन कदमों को पूरा करने वाले परमेश्वर की सच्ची आराधना करना आरंभ करने पाते हैं। परन्तु, जैसा हम हर बार कहते आए हैं, यह सभी प्रभु परमेश्वर के साथ एक सच्चे, सार्थक, सम्बन्ध में स्थापित होने, अर्थात् उसकी सन्तान और उसके परिवार का एक भाग बनने के बाद ही सम्भव है। और इसके लिये व्यक्ति को स्वेच्छा से अपने पापों के लिये पश्चाताप करना तथा उनके लिए प्रभु यीशु से क्षमा माँगकर, समझते-बूझते हुए उसके आज्ञाकारी और उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित शिष्य बनना, अपना जीवन उसे अर्पित करना होगा।  

यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

Being Transformed To Worship (5)

In our ongoing Bible study on worship of God, we have been looking at the steps of transformation of a Christian Believer into a worshipper of God, i.e., one who worships the Lord in spirit and in truth - in the manner God wants His worship. We have been studying this from 2 Chronicles chapter 29, where this process is given. We have seen that this is a four-step process, and we have seen the first three steps of this process so far. These steps are, the Believer making a firm decision to be an obedient and fully committed follower of the Lord God, and then demonstrate it practically in life. The second step is to open and cleanse his heart, the Temple of the Holy Spirit, making it worthy of the Holy Spirit residing in it; repair its ‘door’, i.e., regulate what goes in and comes out of our hearts; become sensitive to the promptings of the Holy Spirit, and live by them, i.e., live according to the Spirit. The third step is to realize that God has declared that every Born-Again Christian Believer is His Priest, and to start functioning accordingly; i.e., learn and know God’s Word, maintain the cleanliness of his heart, the Temple, and restore the things to their place and function, and be God’s spokesman. In the Believer’s practical Christian life this translates into learning and becoming well-versed in the Bible, maintain a clean committed heart, restore things like prayer, Bible study, spending time with God, fellowshipping with God’s people, i.e., Acts 2:42 to their priority and proper place in life, and be willing to share whatever insights and instructions God gives with others. Once these three steps are completed, since they can neither be by-passed, nor done perfunctorily, only then can true worship begin, about which we will start looking at from today.

Step Four: 2 Chronicles 29:20-36 – Worship begins 

In the narrative of 2 Chronicles chapter 29, where this whole process is given, we see that it is only after the Temple of God has been opened, repaired, cleansed, purified, Priests and Levites restored to their place and function, things of the Temple have been cleansed, purified and restored to their place and function, that the account of beginning of worship, i.e., of offering sacrifices and offerings, of singing etc. is given. Till all of this happened, there is no mention of any kind of worship, neither personal nor corporate. Some people may have been worshipping God in their homes or in some synagogues, as a ritual, out of their reverence for God, but there is no mention of any such worship, implying it was not considered worthy. But the worship that God wants, the worship that brings blessings and benefits for the worshiper, the worship that glorifies God before others and serves to attract people to God could only be done after the preliminary steps were completed.

This again goes to show how important it is for a Christian Believer to live out his faith, to remain true to the commitment he made when accepting the Lord Jesus as his savior. If we falter in our faith and compromise in living up to our commitments to God, it is we ourselves who are at loss, and not God. In the book of Job, a question very pertinent to our present study is raised, “Can a man be profitable to God, Though he who is wise may be profitable to himself? Is it any pleasure to the Almighty that you are righteous? Or is it gain to Him that you make your ways blameless?” (Job 22:2-3). The book of Deuteronomy is Moses’s revision and summarization of God’s deliverance of Israel from the bondage and oppression of Egypt, of God giving the Israelites His Law and instructing them while they were in their journey to the Promised Land. The narrative of this book shows how disobedience always leads to problems; and how important, secure, and blessed it is to stay obedient to God, as God Himself has said, “Oh, that they had such a heart in them that they would fear Me and always keep all My commandments, that it might be well with them and with their children forever!” (Deuteronomy 5:29).

To become the kind of worshipper that God is looking for, it is mandatory to become God’s ‘proskunetes’, meaning, those who ‘proskuneos’ before Him, i.e., they are fully submissive, committed, and obedient to Him and His Word. Only then can a person worship Him in spirit and truth and be blessed with the marvelous blessings, both temporal as well as eternal, of being a worshipper of God. In the subsequent articles we will see the four stages of this fourth step, through which those who have completed the first three steps, start worshipping God. But as we have been repeatedly stating, this is only possible after coming into an honest, meaningful relationship with the Lord God, i.e., becoming His children, a part of His family (John 1:12-13). And this is only possible by a person voluntarily repenting of his sins, asking the Lord Jesus to forgive him for them, then knowingly and deliberately committing one’s life to the Lord, to be His fully surrendered and obedient disciple.

If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord Jesus, then to ensure your eternal life and heavenly rewards, take a decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now. Wherever there is surrender and obedience towards the Lord Jesus, the Lord’s blessings and safety are also there. If you are still not Born Again, have not obtained salvation, or have not asked the Lord Jesus for forgiveness for your sins, then you have the opportunity to do so right now. A short prayer said voluntarily with a sincere heart, with heartfelt repentance for your sins, and a fully submissive attitude, “Lord Jesus, I confess that I have disobeyed You, and have knowingly or unknowingly, in mind, in thought, in attitude, and in deeds, committed sins. I believe that you have fully borne the punishment of my sins by your sacrifice on the cross, and have paid the full price of those sins for all eternity. Please forgive my sins, change my heart and mind towards you, and make me your disciple, take me with you." God longs for your company and wants to see you blessed, but to make this possible, is your personal decision. Will you not say this prayer now, while you have the time and opportunity to do so - the decision is yours.

    अभी तक हमने प्रभु-भोज के प्ररूप फसह, जिसका वर्णन निर्गमन 12 में दिया गया है, और फिर नए नियम में सुसमाचारों में दिए गए वर्णनों के द्वारा प्रभु भोज और प्रभु यीशु द्वारा उसे फसह की सामग्री के द्वारा स्थापित करने के बारे में सीखा है। जो विभिन्न बातें अभी तक हमने प्रभु भोज तथा उसमें भाग लेने के बारे में सीखीं हैं, उनमें से कुछ बातें हैं जो बहुत प्रबल रीति से हमारे सामने आई हैं, जो बहुत महत्वपूर्ण हैं। क्योंकि इन बातों पर ध्यान नहीं दिया गया है, इसीलिए शैतान प्रभु की मेज़ के बारे में बहुत सारी गलत शिक्षाएं, गलत धारणाएं, और गलतफहमियाँ ले आया है। ईसाई या मसीही समाज में प्रभु भोज तथा उसमें भाग लेने का अर्थ और मूल्य जाते रहे हैं, यह केवल एक रीति, एक परंपरा बन कर रह गई है। अब इसका निर्वाह, इसके बारे में विभिन्न डिनॉमिनेशंस, समुदायों, और समूहों के धार्मिक अगुवों की समझ के अनुसार, उनके द्वारा बनाई गई विधियों और नियमों के अनुसार किया जाता है। यह प्रवृत्ति आरम्भिक कलीसियाओं में ही आने लग गई थी; जिस प्रकार शैतान ने मसीही विश्वास से सम्बन्धित अन्य बातों के बारे में लोगों को बहकाया और भरमाया था, उसने कलीसीयाओं को प्रभु भोज के बारे में भी बहका और भरमा दिया था। इसीलिए, पवित्र आत्मा की अगुवाई में, प्रेरित पौलुस ने कुरिन्थुस की कलीसिया के नाम लिखी पत्री में, उनमें पाई जाने वाली बहुत सी गलत शिक्षाओं को सुधारने के लिए लिखा, और उन गलत बातों में प्रभु भोज के बारे में भी गलतियाँ थीं। अगले लेख से हम कोरिन्थ की कलीसिया में घुस आई गलतियों के बारे में देखना आरंभ करेंगे। आज हम झूठी शिक्षाओं और गलत सिद्धान्तों से सम्बन्धित कुछ महत्वपूर्ण बातों पर विचार करते हैं।

    अभी तक प्रभु भोज के बारे में जिन गलत शिक्षाओं और गलत सिद्धांतों को हमने देखा है, जिन्हें सुधारे जाने की आवश्यकता है, और जिनका उपयोग शैतान प्रभु भोज के बारे में लोगों को बहकाने के लिए करता है, वे तथा उनसे संबंधित बाइबल के तथ्य ये हैं:

 

* जो कोई प्रभु का नाम ले और उसमें विश्वास करने का दावा करे, वह प्रभु भोज में भाग ले सकता है। बाइबल का तथ्य यह है कि जैसे फसह में केवल इस्राएली, अर्थात परमेश्वर के चुने हुए लोग, तथा वे अन्य-जाति लोग जो अपने आप को परमेश्वर तथा अब्राहम के मध्य बंधी वाचा के अधीन ले आए थे, तथा खतने के द्वारा इसकी गवाही दी थी, वे ही भाग ले सकते थे; उसी प्रकार से केवल नया-जन्म पाए हुए मसीही विश्वासी, अर्थात प्रभु के प्रति समर्पित और प्रतिबद्ध प्रभु के सच्चे शिष्य ही प्रभु भोज में भाग ले सकते हैं।

* प्रभु भोज में भाग लेने से व्यक्ति परमेश्वर की दृष्टि में धर्मी और पवित्र हो जाता है, उसके पाप क्षमा हो जाते हैं, वह परमेश्वर को स्वीकार्य, तथा स्वर्ग में प्रवेश के योग्य बन जाता है। बाइबल का तथ्य यह है कि केवल परमेश्वर के लोगों को ही फसह में भाग लेने का अधिकार था; न कि फसह में भाग लेने से वे परमेश्वर के लोग बन जाते थे। उसी प्रकार से केवल वे ही, जिनके पाप क्षमा हो गए हैं, और जो प्रभु में सच्चे विश्वास तथा अपना जीवन उसे समर्पित करने के द्वारा प्रभु के लोग हो गए हैं, प्रभु की मेज़ में भाग ले सकते हैं। प्रभु की मेज़ में भाग लेने से वे प्रभु के जन, धर्मी, पवित्र, परमेश्वर को स्वीकार्य, और स्वर्ग में जाने के योग्य नहीं बन जाते हैं।

* प्रभु की मेज़ में व्यक्ति अपने डिनॉमिनेशंस, समुदाय, या समूह की रीतियों, परंपराओं और विधियों के अनुसार भाग ले सकते हैं, इन बातों से इसमें भाग लेने पर कोई अंतर नहीं आता है। बाइबल का तथ्य यही है कि परमेश्वर अपनी आराधना की उसके द्वारा दी गई विधि और स्वरूप के प्रति, जो वह अपने वचन में पहले ही दे चुका है, सदा ही बहुत विशिष्ट और जलन रखने वाला रहा है। उसने जो निर्धारित कर के दे दिया है, उसमें वह किसी मनुष्य के द्वारा कोई भी परिवर्तन या “सुधार” सहन अथवा स्वीकार नहीं करता है। उसकी दृष्टि में मनुष्यों द्वारा बनाई गई विधियों से की गई आराधना व्यर्थ है, उसे अस्वीकार्य है, और निष्फल है। यहाँ तक कि जो लोग ऐसे अपने आप को परमेश्वर पर थोपते हैं, और सोचते हैं कि परमेश्वर इसके लिए कुछ नहीं कहेगा, उनके लिए इस बात के बहुत हानिकारक परिणाम भी हो सकते हैं।

    शैतान के अपनी धूर्त युक्तियों और बातों को घुसा कर लोगों को बहका देने का मूल कारण है कि लोगों ने व्यक्तिगत रीति से परमेश्वर के वचन का अध्ययन करने, उसे सीखने और अपने जीवन में उसे लागू करने में रुचि लेना छोड़ दिया है। आज मसीही विश्वासी भी जो कुछ भी परमेश्वर के नाम में पुल्पिट से कह दिया जाता उसे परमेश्वर के वचन से बिना जाँचे-परखे मान लेने और स्वीकार कर लेने में संतुष्ट रहते हैं। ऐसा इसलिए है क्योंकि आजकल कलीसिया के लोग सांसारिक संस्थानों द्वारा दी गई शैक्षिक योग्यताओं और प्रमाण-पत्रों पर अधिक भरोसा करने लग गए हैं, न कि उनके प्रचारक और शिक्षक के, प्रभु यीशु के प्रति समर्पण और प्रतिबद्धता के जीवन के। इसीलिए लोग उसे स्वीकार कर लेने तथा पालन करने की प्रवृत्ति रखते हैं जो उन्हें तर्क पूर्ण रीति से, रोचक और लुभावनी बातों के साथ, और ज्ञान के प्रदर्शन के द्वारा बता दिया जाता है; और वे यह मान कर चलते हैं कि यह सभी परमेश्वर के वचन के अनुसार भी होगा। क्योंकि कोई भी उन बातों और शिक्षाओं को परमेश्वर के वचन से जाँचता-परखता नहीं है, प्रचारक से प्रश्न नहीं करता है, इसीलिए गलत शिक्षाएं न केवल अन्दर आ गई हैं, बल्कि कलीसियाओं में उन्होंने इतनी गहरी पकड़ बना ली है कि आज लोग बाइबल के सत्यों को झूठ, और गलतियाँ करने की प्रवृत्ति रखने वाले मनुष्यों के ज्ञान और बुद्धि से कही गई बातों को सत्य मानने लगे हैं।

The Lord’s Table - How & Why Satan Has Been Able to Deceive Christians

 

So far, through the Passover, the antecedent of the Holy Communion described in Exodus 12, and then through the Gospel accounts of the New Testament we have learnt about the Holy Communion, and the Lord’s instituting it using the elements of the Passover. Amongst the various things we have learnt regarding the Holy Communion and participating in it, some things have stood out very strongly, and are very important. Because these things have not been paid attention to, therefore, Satan has been able to bring in many wrong teachings, misconceptions, and misunderstandings about the Lord’s Table. The Holy Communion and participating in it, has lost its purpose and value in Christendom, and has become more of a ritual, a tradition. It is now observed in the manner advocated and taught by religious leaders of denominations, sects, and groups, according to their understanding about it. This trend had started in the initial Churches itself; like for most of the other things related to the Christian Faith, Satan had beguiled and misled the Churches about the Lord’s Table too. That is why, under the guidance of the Holy Spirit the Apostle Paul wrote to the Corinthian Church for correcting many of the wrong teachings and false doctrines Satan had brought in amongst them, including about the Holy Communion. From the next article we will start considering the wrong concepts and false teachings that had crept into the Church in Corinth. Today we will consider some very important things related to false teachings and wrong doctrines.

The main things, the false teachings and wrong doctrines that Satan uses to beguile people regarding the Holy Communion, which we have seen so far, and which should be corrected, along with their related Biblical facts are:

* Anyone who takes the name of the Lord and claims to believe in the Lord can participate in it. The Biblical fact is like only the Israelites, the chosen people of God, and those gentiles who had brought themselves under the covenant of God with Abraham, and had witnessed for it through getting circumcised could partake of the Passover; similarly, only the Born-Again Christian Believers, the surrendered and committed disciples of the Lord Jesus can participate in the Holy Communion.

* Participating in the Lord’s Table makes one righteous and holy in God’s eyes, it provides forgiveness for their sins, makes them acceptable to God and worthy of entering heaven. The Biblical fact is like it was only the people of God who were permitted to partake of the Passover; their participation did not make them God’s people, but already being God’s people gave them the permission to participate in the Passover. Similarly, participating in the Lord’s Table does not make anyone a person of the Lord; does not make anyone righteous, holy, acceptable to God and worthy of heaven, does not forgive their sins. Rather only those whose sins have been forgiven and who have become the people of the Lord Jesus by sincere faith and surrender to Him, have been given the privilege to participate in the Holy Communion.

* In participating in the Lord’s Table, one can do it according to the rites, rituals, and manner of their denomination, or sect, or group, and it will not matter in anyway. The Biblical fact is that God always has been very particular and jealous for the manner He has already prescribed and given in His Word for people to worship Him. He does not accept any alterations or modifications by any man, in what He has prescribed. Any worship through man-made methods is vain worship in His eyes, is unacceptable to Him, is inconsequential, and could even have deleterious consequences for those who impose themselves upon God, and think that they can get away with it.

 

The basic reason for Satan being able to infiltrate his devious ploys and mislead people away is that people have lost interest in personally studying God’s Word, in learning it and applying it to their lives. Today even the Christian Believers are content with listening to whatever is preached from the pulpit in the name of God, accepting the messages without any questions or cross-checking it from God’s Word. This is because nowadays the congregation trusts the academic qualifications and certificates granted by worldly institutions, instead of the personal commitment and surrender of their preacher and teacher to the Lord Jesus. Therefore, people remain inclined and satisfied with accepting anything seemingly logical, interesting, attractive, and knowledgeable; and assume that it would be according to God’s word as well. Since no one cross-checks and questions the teachings, therefore wrong teachings and false doctrines have not only come in but have taken such strong roots in the Churches, that today people disbelieve Biblical truth, but accept as truth things from the wisdom and knowledge of fallible men.

If you are a Christian Believer and have been participating in the Lord’s Table, then please examine your life and make sure that you are actually a disciple of the Lord, i.e., are redeemed from your sins, have submitted and surrendered your life to the Lord Jesus to live in obedience to Him and His Word. You should also always, like the Berean Believers, first check and test all teachings that you receive from the Word of God, and only after ascertaining the truth and veracity of the teachings brought to you by men, should you accept and obey them (Acts 17:11; 1 Thessalonians 5:21). If you do not do this, the false apostles and prophets sent by Satan as ministers of Christ (2 Corinthians 11:13-15), will by their trickery, cunningness, and craftiness render you ineffective for the Lord and cause severe damage to your Christian life and your rewards.

If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord Jesus, then to ensure your eternal life and heavenly rewards, take a decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now. Wherever there is surrender and obedience towards the Lord Jesus, the Lord’s blessings and safety are also there. If you are still not Born Again, have not obtained salvation, or have not asked the Lord Jesus for forgiveness for your sins, then you have the opportunity to do so right now. A short prayer said voluntarily with a sincere heart, with heartfelt repentance for your sins, and a fully submissive attitude, “Lord Jesus, I confess that I have disobeyed You, and have knowingly or unknowingly, in mind, in thought, in attitude, and in deeds, committed sins. I believe that you have fully borne the punishment of my sins by your sacrifice on the cross, and have paid the full price of those sins for all eternity. Please forgive my sins, change my heart and mind towards you, and make me your disciple, take me with you." God longs for your company and wants to see you blessed, but to make this possible, is your personal decision. Will you not say this prayer now, while you have the time and opportunity to do so - the decision is yours.

The Lord’s Table - Not for Those not Committed to the Lord (1)

 

In our study from the four Gospels, we have been looking at the Lord’s instituting the Holy Communion, while eating the Passover with His disciples. As we have said before, the purpose of this study is not to harmonize the Gospel accounts and present them in a chronological order, but to learn about the meaning, significance, and participation in the Lord’s Table. We now come to the crucial part of the event - the actual establishing of the Table by the Lord, and a very crucial question and its implications, did Judas Iscariot participate in that first Holy Communion? The answer and its inferences can only be derived by studying the four Gospel accounts and putting together the events sequentially.

We need to keep in mind two important parts of this event, first is the eating of the Passover meal and the second is Lord’s giving the bread and the cup as symbols of His body and blood to the disciples, for them to keep doing in remembrance of Him, in the times to come, till He comes (Luke 22:19; 1 Corinthians 11:24-26). The Lord had first sent Peter and John to prepare for the Passover in a specific house, as we have seen earlier, and had then gone to eat the Passover with His disciples. It was during the meal, as we saw from John 13, that He rose up and washed the feet of the disciples and gave them a practical lesson in humility and honoring others. This might have been prompted by the dispute among the disciples as to which one among them should be considered the greatest (Luke 22:24-30). It was during the meal, after the washing of the feet of the disciples, that the Lord informed that He was going to be betrayed by one amongst them, because of which a discussion as to who it is happened amongst the disciples. As a part of eating of this Passover meal and as a sign of identification of the betrayer, the Lord gave the sop - the piece of bread dipped in the broth, to Judas Iscariot, and asked him to do what he wanted to do (John 13:26-27). John records a very important part of the events here - Judas Iscariot took the sop, and went out into the night (John 13:30), but in none of the gospel accounts is it written that Judas Iscariot after taking that sop given to Him by the Lord actually ate it too. The giving of the sop was a sign to him of Lord’s love for him and of still giving him a place of honor, since the head of the family, at Passover, gave the sop to a loved and honorable person present at the Passover meal.

It is after the sop had been given, and Judas Iscariot after receiving the sop had gone out, while the others were eating the meal (Matthew 26:26; Mark 14:22) that the Lord took the bread, blessed and broke it and gave it to the disciples as a symbol of His body broken for them; He then took the cup and asked them to share from it, as a symbol of the Lord’s blood shed for them, as is recorded in Matthew 26:26-29; Mark 14:22-25; Luke 22:18-20. Therefore, by piecing together the sequence of events, it becomes clear that Judas Iscariot was not present at the time of the Lord establishing the Table, and did not participate in the first Holy Communion established by the Lord. This is in perfect agreement with what we have seen earlier, from Exodus 12, that the Passover, as well as Lord’s Table are only for the actual committed people of the Lord, not for anyone else. Some people may be confused by the account given in Luke, since Luke records the events of eating the Passover meal and the Lord’s saying that the hand of His betrayer is with Him in the dish, after the establishing of the Lord’s Table, whereas Matthew and Mark record it as before the Lord established the Table. What helps us to understand and clarify is that Luke is recording the presence of Judas Iscariot for the Passover meal not for the time of establishing the Table; since the events of John 13 help us understand that eating of the meal was in presence of Judas Iscariot, who left after taking the sop, and the continuation of the meal and the rest of the events, including the establishing of the Lord’s Table, followed after that. Moreover, Judas Iscariot did not even eat the sop, and neither was he present at the institution of the Lord’s Table.

In the next article, we will consider this a bit further, and in this context, understand further about who should participate in the Lord’s Table.

       पिछले लेख में हमने देखा था कि फसह इस्राएलियों का एक वार्षिक पर्व था, जिसे वे मिस्र के दासत्व से छुड़ाए जाने की अनुस्मृति में मनाया करते थे। इस पर्व को सभी परिवार जन एक साथ मिलकर मनाया करते थे; यदि कोई परिवार छोटा होता था, तो किसी अन्य परिवार के साथ मिलकर मना लेते थे। प्रभु यीशु ने अपने 12 शिष्यों के साथ इस पर्व को मनाते हुए, उसकी सामग्री के द्वारा प्रभु भोज का आरम्भ किया था।  शिष्यों के साथ फसह मनाने के द्वारा, प्रभु यीशु ने यह दिखाया कि प्रभु भोज को परमेश्वर के आत्मिक परिवार के द्वारा साथ मिलकर मनाया जाना है। आज हम प्रभु भोज में भाग लेने से सम्बन्धित इस पक्ष के बारे में कुछ और देखेंगे।   

       हम यहाँ पर यह देखते हैं कि ये बारह शिष्य, लगभग तीन वर्ष से अधिक समय से परस्पर साथ रहने, तथा प्रभु के साथ भी रहते-रहते, एक साथ जुड़कर एक “परिवार” के समान व्यवहार करने लग गए थे (हम यहूदा इस्करियोती तथा प्रभु की मेज़ के बारे में थोड़े ही समय में देखेंगे)। निःसंदेह, शिष्यों में परस्पर मतभेद होते थे, और आपस में बड़े-छोटे होने की भावनाएं भी थीं, जैसे कि किसी भी अधिक संख्या में बच्चों वाले परिवार में सामान्यतः देखा जा सकता है। लेकिन फिर भी वे सभी साथ मिलकर, प्रभु की अधीनता में रहते थे, और उनमें से कोई भी अपने स्वाभाविक परिवार को प्रभु के शिष्य होने के परिवार से बढ़कर नहीं समझता था। यहाँ पर हम उस बात का एक व्यावहरिक उदाहरण देखते हैं, जो प्रभु यीशु ने उनसे कही थी जो उसके शिष्य, उसके लोग होना चाहते थे, उसके पीछे चलना चाहते थे (मत्ती 10:37; लूका 9:59-62; 14:26)।

       यहाँ पर हमारे सामने नए नियम की, प्रभु भोज से संबंधित पहली शिक्षा है - प्रभु यीशु ने फसह उनके साथ मनाया जो उसके “परिवार” के लोग थे; किसी मनुष्य के अनुसार “परिवार” की परिभाषा नहीं, किन्तु प्रभु यीशु की परिभाषा के अनुसार "परिवार" होने के आधार पर। जैसा कि हम सुसमाचारों में दिए गए वर्णन से देखते हैं, लोगों की एक भीड़ प्रभु के साथ-साथ चलती थी, उसके उपदेश सुनती थी, उसके आश्चर्यकर्मों का लाभ उठाती थी। परन्तु अपने चारों ओर एकत्रित रहने वाले लोगों के लिए लोगों के लिए यह सब करने के बाद भी प्रभु यीशु ने न तो उन्हें अपना "परिवार" कहा, और न ही कभी अपने लोग बताया। प्रभु यीशु ने अपनी मेज़ उनके स्थापित नहीं की थी जो उसके चारों ओर अपने ही किसी कारण से, या किसी स्वार्थ के अंतर्गत, अथवा यूं ही समय बिताने के लिए, एकत्रित थे। वरन, प्रभु ने अपनी मेज़ उनके लिए स्थापित की थी जो उसका “परिवार”, उसके लोग हो गए थे; और भविष्य में भी उन्हीं लोगों को इसमें भाग लेने का विशेषाधिकार प्रदान किया जो इनके समान उसके शिष्य बन जाते थे (मत्ती 28:19-20)। जैसा हम निर्गमन 12 से देख चुके हैं, फसह, और प्रभु भोज केवल परमेश्वर के प्रति समर्पित एवं प्रतिबद्ध लोगों के लिए है; उनके लिए जिन्होंने प्रभु को अपना जीवन समर्पित किया है और उसके तथा उसके वचन की आज्ञाकारिता में जीने का निर्णय लिया है। यह कोई रीति अथवा परंपरा नहीं है जिसे यूं ही हल्के में अथवा औपचारिकता-वश निभाया जाए। इसमें भाग लेने वालों के लिए इसके साथ एक जवाबदेही भी जुड़ी हुई है, जैसे कि हम आगे देखेंगे।

       यदि आप एक मसीही विश्वासी हैं, और प्रभु की मेज़ में भाग लेते रहे हैं, तो कृपया अपने जीवन को जाँच कर देख लें कि आप वास्तव में पापों से छुड़ाए गए हैं तथा आप ने अपना जीवन प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता में जीने के लिए उस को समर्पित किया है। आपके लिए यह अनिवार्य है कि आप परमेश्वर के वचन की सही शिक्षाओं को जानने के द्वारा एक परिपक्व विश्वासी बनें, तथा सभी शिक्षाओं को वचन की कसौटी पर परखने, और बेरिया के विश्वासियों के समान, लोगों की बातों को पहले वचन से जाँचने और उनकी सत्यता को निश्चित करने के बाद ही उनको स्वीकार करने और मानने वाले बनें (प्रेरितों 17:11; 1 थिस्सलुनीकियों 5:21)। अन्यथा शैतान द्वारा छोड़े हुए झूठे प्रेरित और भविष्यद्वक्ता मसीह के सेवक बन कर (2 कुरिन्थियों 11:13-15) अपनी ठग विद्या और चतुराई से आपको प्रभु के लिए अप्रभावी कर देंगे और आप के मसीही जीवन एवं आशीषों का नाश कर देंगे।

        यदि आपने अभी तक प्रभु की शिष्यता को स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी उसके पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। यदि आपने अभी तक नया जन्म, उद्धार नहीं पाया है, प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा नहीं माँगी है, तो अभी आपके पास समय और अवसर है कि यह कर लें। प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” परमेश्वर आपके साथ संगति रखने की बहुत लालसा रखता है तथा आपको आशीषित देखना चाहता है, लेकिन इसे सम्भव करना आपका व्यक्तिगत निर्णय है। सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी। क्या आप अभी समय और अवसर होते हुए, इस प्रार्थना को नहीं करेंगे? निर्णय आपका है।

The Lord’s Table - Only for the Lord’s Family (2)

 

       In the previous article we have seen that the Passover was an annual feast, celebrated by the Israelites in memory of their deliverance from the bondage of Egypt. This feast was meant to be celebrated together by each family; or small families were to join together to celebrate it together. Lord Jesus had used this feast and its material, which He was celebrating with His 12 disciples, to initiate the Holy Communion. By celebrating the Passover with His disciples, the Lord Jesus has shown that the Holy Communion was to be partaken together by the members of the spiritual family of God. Today we will look further into this aspect of observing the Holy Communion.

        What we see here is that these twelve disciples, in their being together and with the Lord for over three years, had come together to behave as one “family”; (we will see about Judas Iscariot and the Lord’s Table shortly). No doubt, the disciples had their mutual differences, and also feelings of mutual superiority or inferiority, as siblings in any family with many children usually have. But yet they all stayed together, under the Lord, none placing their individual natural families over and above this family of being Lord’s disciples. We see here a practical enactment of what the Lord Jesus had said to those wanting to follow Him and be His people (Matthew 10:37; Luke 9:59-62; 14:26).

        Here we have the first lesson of the New Testament regarding the Holy Communion - the Lord Jesus celebrated the Passover with those who were His family, not according to any man’s definition of a "family", but His own definition. As we see throughout the Gospel accounts, although multitudes followed Him around, listened to His teachings, benefitted from His miracles, but despite having done all these things for the people thronging around Him, He did not call or consider them His “family” or His people. He did not establish the Lord’s Table for just about anyone who gathered around Him, casually or selfishly, and spent time with Him for some reason or the other. But He established His Table for His “family”, His people; and He gave those the privilege of partaking from it in future, who would join with Him in the manner these initial disciples had joined, becoming His disciples as these had become (Matthew 28:19-20). As we have seen from Exodus 12, the Passover, and the Holy Communion, are only for the committed people of God; for those who have surrendered their lives to the Lord, to live in obedience to Him and His Word. It is not a ritual to be casually participated in, perfunctorily observed. There is an accountability associated with it, for all who participate in it, as we will see later.

        If you are a Christian Believer, and have been participating in the Lord’s Table, then please examine your life and make sure that you are actually a disciple of the Lord, i.e., are redeemed from your sins, have submitted and surrendered your life to the Lord Jesus to live in obedience to Him and His Word. You should also always, like the Berean Believers, first check and test all teachings that you receive from the Word of God, and only after ascertaining the truth and veracity of the teachings brought to you by men, should you accept and obey them (Acts 17:11; 1 Thessalonians 5:21). If you do not do this, the false apostles and prophets sent by Satan as ministers of Christ (2 Corinthians 11:13-15), will by their trickery, cunningness, and craftiness render you ineffective for the Lord and cause severe damage to your Christian life and your rewards.

        If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord Jesus, then take a decision in its favor now to secure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. The Lord's security and blessings are present where there is obedience of the Lord, where His Word is honored and followed. If you are still not Born Again, have not obtained salvation, or have not asked the Lord Jesus for forgiveness for your sins, then you have the time and opportunity to do so right now. Ask the Lord Jesus to forgive your sins, and voluntarily and sincerely surrender yourselves into His hands - this is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. All you have to do is say a short prayer, voluntarily and with a sincere heart, with heartfelt repentance for your sins, and a fully submissive attitude. You can do this in this manner, “Lord Jesus, I confess that I have disobeyed You, and have knowingly or unknowingly, in mind, in thought, in attitude, and in deeds, committed sins. I believe that you have fully borne the punishment of my sins by your sacrifice on the cross, and have paid the full price of those sins for all eternity. Please forgive my sins, change my heart and mind towards you, and make me your disciple, take me with you." God longs for your company and wants to see you blessed, but to make this possible, is your personal decision. One prayer said with a sincere and surrendered heart will turn your present and future, your life here on earth and in the next world, forever and make you heavenly and blessed. Will you not say this prayer now, while you have the time and opportunity to do so? The decision is yours.

मसीही जीवन के चार स्तम्भ - 4 - प्रार्थना (15) 

प्रार्थना करना, व्यावहारिक मसीही जीवन का एक अभिन्न अँग है, और हम प्रेरितों 2:42 से देखते हैं कि प्रार्थना करना उन चार बातों में से एक है, आरम्भिक मसीही विश्वासी जिन का लौलीन होकर पालन किया करते थे। किन्तु आज, जैसे मसीही विश्वास से सम्बन्धित सभी बातों के साथ हुआ है, प्रार्थना के बारे में भी बहुत सी गलत शिक्षाएं और भ्रांतियाँ मसीहियों में घुस आई हैं। ऐसा होने का मुख्य कारण है मसीहियों के द्वारा परमेश्वर के वचन का व्यक्तिगत अध्ययन करना छोड़ देना। जो वचन पढ़ते भी हैं, वचन के अध्ययन के स्थान पर उनमें से अधिकाँश लोग केवल औपचारिकता पूरी करने के लिए वचन का थोड़ा सा भाग पढ़ लेते हैं। वचन की शिक्षा के लिए लगभग सभी मसीही, पादरियों, कलीसिया के अगुवों, और प्रचारकों की कही बातों को, बिना वचन से जाँचे हुए, अन्ध-विश्वास के साथ स्वीकार कर लेते हैं। परिणाम स्वरूप, शैतान को हर बात के बारे में बहुत सी गलत शिक्षाओं और मानवीय व्याख्याओं तथा धारणाओं को घुसा देने का खुला द्वार मिल गया है, और वह इसका भरपूरी से उपयोग कर रहा है। इसीलिए, जैसे हमने पिछले लेखों में अन्य विषयों के लिए किया था, हम प्रार्थना के बारे में भी वचन में दी गई बातों से सीख रहे हैं, गलत शिक्षाओं तथा भ्रांतियों को पहचानने का प्रयास कर रहे हैं। हम देख चुके हैं कि प्रार्थना क्या है, और क्यों परमेश्वर चाहता है कि उसके लोग उसके साथ निरन्तर प्रार्थना में लगे रहें। हमने यह भी देखा है कि एक आम गलत व्याख्या और प्रचलित शिक्षा के विपरीत, परमेश्वर ने अपने वचन में यह प्रतिज्ञा नहीं की है कि वह हर किसी की “विश्वास से” माँगी हुई सभी प्रार्थनाओं सकारात्मक उत्तर देगा। वरन परमेश्वर ने यह स्पष्ट लिखा है कि वह किन लोगों की और कैसी प्रार्थनाओं का सकारात्मक उत्तर देगा। पिछले लेख में हमने इसी से सम्बन्धित एक अन्य गलत व्याख्या और शिक्षा की वास्तविकता को वचन से समझा था कि “यीशु के नाम में” माँगी गई प्रार्थनाओं को परमेश्वर हमेशा ही पूरा करेगा। इन सभी बातों के बारे में विचार करते हुए, हमने देखा है कि परमेश्वर अपने वास्तव में नया-जन्म पाए हुए और समर्पित, प्रतिबद्ध लोगों, अर्थात, उसके परिवार के सदस्यों की उन प्रार्थनाओं का सकारात्मक उत्तर देता है, जो वे उसके वचन से सुसंगत तथा उसकी इच्छा के अनुसार माँगते हैं। आज इसी बात को और अधिक स्पष्ट करने के लिए हम यूहन्ना 15 अध्याय में इस सम्बन्ध में प्रभु द्वारा कही गई कुछ बातों को देखेंगे, उनपर विचार करेंगे।

 

पिछले लेखों में हमने देखा है कि प्रभु यीशु ने यूहन्ना 14 से 16 अध्याय में बारम्बार अपने शिष्यों से कहा है कि उसके नाम में वे जो भी पिता परमेश्वर से माँगेंगे, उसे वह पूरा करेगा। यही बात प्रभु ने यूहन्ना 15 अध्याय में भी कही है, और बहुधा इसे लेकर यह बताया और सिखाया जाता है कि यह सभी के लिए मान्य प्रभु की प्रतिज्ञा है। हम पिछले लेख में “यीशु के नाम में माँगने” पर विचार करते हुए, यह समझ चुके हैं कि प्रभु ने यह प्रतिज्ञा केवल अपने आज्ञाकारी, समर्पित, और प्रतिबद्ध शिष्यों को ही दी थी। और जिस समय प्रभु ने यह कहा था, तब तक यहूदा इस्करियोती उन्हें छोड़ कर जा चुका था। तात्पर्य यह कि प्रभु की यह प्रतिज्ञा अपने आप को प्रभु का शिष्य कहने वाले हर किसी जन के लिए नहीं थी, केवल वास्तविक और सच्चे शिष्यों के लिए थी। यूहन्ना 15 अध्याय से इसके बारे में देखने से हमारे सामने इस प्रतिज्ञा के विषय कुछ और महत्वपूर्ण तथ्य भी सामने आते हैं। साथ ही यह भी स्पष्ट हो जाता है कि प्रभु की यह प्रतिज्ञा “सशर्त” थी, उन सच्चे, समर्पित, प्रतिबद्ध शिष्यों के लिए भी; यह कभी भी, कैसे भी उपयोग करने के लिए नहीं थी। चलिए, यूहन्ना 15 अध्याय में इस प्रतिज्ञा से सम्बन्धित पदों को देखते हैं। 

• यूहन्ना 15:4-5 “तुम मुझ में बने रहो, और मैं तुम में: जैसे डाली यदि दाखलता में बनी न रहे, तो अपने आप से नहीं फल सकती, वैसे ही तुम भी यदि मुझ में बने न रहो तो नहीं फल सकते। मैं दाखलता हूं: तुम डालियां हो; जो मुझ में बना रहता है, और मैं उस में, वह बहुत फल फलता है, क्योंकि मुझ से अलग हो कर तुम कुछ भी नहीं कर सकते।” प्रभु की सामर्थ्य से कुछ करने, “फल लाने” के लिए पहली शर्त है, प्रभु के सच्चे शिष्यों का भी हमेशा प्रभु के साथ बने रहना, उससे जुड़े रहना। अर्थात प्रार्थना में, वचन में, आज्ञाकारिता में (1 यूहन्ना 2:3-6) हमेशा प्रभु के साथ जुड़े रहना। यदा-कदा, केवल सुविधा और आवश्यकतानुसार ही प्रभु से जुड़ने वाले शिष्य प्रभु के लिए फलवन्त नहीं हो सकते हैं। 

• यूहन्ना 15:7 “यदि तुम मुझ में बने रहो, और मेरी बातें तुम में बनी रहें तो जो चाहो मांगो और वह तुम्हारे लिये हो जाएगा।” उपरोक्त शर्त की पुष्टि इस पद की शर्त से हो जाती है। प्रभु ने अपने उन सच्चे, समर्पित, और प्रतिबद्ध शिष्यों से यहाँ पर स्पष्ट कहा है कि यदि वे प्रभु में बने रहेंगे, और प्रभु की बातें उनमें बनी रहेंगी, तब ही उनकी प्रार्थना में माँगी गई बातें पूरी होंगी।

• यूहन्ना 15:10 “यदि तुम मेरी आज्ञाओं को मानोगे, तो मेरे प्रेम में बने रहोगे: जैसा कि मैं ने अपने पिता की आज्ञाओं को माना है, और उसके प्रेम में बना रहता हूं।” प्रभु के ये वास्तविक शिष्य प्रभु के प्रेम में तब ही बने रह सकते हैं, जब वे प्रभु के आज्ञाकारी रहें। अर्थात, जब प्रभु के आज्ञाकारी रहेंगे, तो प्रभु से जुड़े रहेंगे, और जब जुड़े रहेंगे, तो परमेश्वर उनकी प्रार्थनाओं को सुनेगा और पूरा भी करेगा।

• यूहन्ना 15:16 “तुम ने मुझे नहीं चुना परन्तु मैं ने तुम्हें चुना है और तुम्हें ठहराया ताकि तुम जा कर फल लाओ; और तुम्हारा फल बना रहे, कि तुम मेरे नाम से जो कुछ पिता से मांगो, वह तुम्हें दे।” प्रभु से, और प्रभु के नाम में पिता से माँगने का अधिकार उन्हीं का है जो प्रभु द्वारा चुने और ठहराए हुए हैं, जो प्रभु के लिए फलवन्त होते हैं। और जैसा ऊपर देखा है, यह फलवन्त होना, वास्तविक शिष्यों के प्रभु के आज्ञाकारी होने पर निर्भर है।

• यूहन्ना 15:19 “यदि तुम संसार के होते, तो संसार अपनों से प्रीति रखता, परन्तु इस कारण कि तुम संसार के नहीं, वरन मैं ने तुम्हें संसार में से चुन लिया है इसी लिये संसार तुम से बैर रखता है।” जो प्रभु के चुने हुए हैं, वे प्रभु द्वारा संसार से अलग भी किए गए हैं। जिसकी पहचान है कि संसार और संसार के लोग, जैसे प्रभु से, वैसे ही उनसे भी बैर रखते हैं। तात्पर्य स्पष्ट है, जिनमें संसार और सांसारिकता की बातें हैं, जो संसार से और संसार जिन से प्रेम करता है, वे प्रभु के जन नहीं हैं (1 यूहन्ना 2:15-17)। इसलिए “यीशु के नाम में माँगने” का आश्वासन उन लोगों के लिए नहीं है।

अर्थात, यूहन्ना 15 अध्याय में प्रभु यीशु द्वारा अपने सच्चे, समर्पित, प्रतिबद्ध शिष्यों से कही गई बातें स्पष्ट कर देती हैं कि “यीशु के नाम में माँगने” की प्रतिज्ञा हर किसी के लिए नहीं है, केवल प्रभु के सच्चे, समर्पित, और प्रतिबद्ध शिष्यों के लिए है। और वह भी तब, जब वे उसके साथ जुड़े रहें, उसके आज्ञाकारी बने रहें। अगले लेख में हम “विश्वास से” प्रभु से माँगने के कुछ और उदाहरणों को परमेश्वर के वचन से देखेंगे और समझेंगे।

The Four Pillars of Christian Living - 4 - Prayer (15)

Praying is an integral part of practical Christian living, and we see from Acts 2:42 that it is one of those four things that the initial Christian Believers observed steadfastly. But today, as has happened with everything associated with the Christian faith, many wrong teachings and misconceptions have come in amongst the Christians. The main reason for this is the Christians having given up studying God’s Word for themselves. Those who do read the Word, instead of studying the Word, they read a small portion, usually just to fulfill a formality. For teachings from God’s Word, practically all Christians depend on whatever the Pastors, Church Elders, and the Preachers tell them; and they blindly accept whatever they say without cross-checking and verifying whatever is taught. Consequently, Satan has an open door for him to bring in many wrong teachings, human interpretations, and notions, and he is making full use of this opportunity. That is why, as we have done in the previous articles about other topics, about ‘praying’ too we are studying from God’s Word, seeing what is written in God’s Word, to recognize and understand the wrong teachings and the misconceptions. We have seen what prayer actually is, and why God wants His people to constantly be praying to Him. We have also seen that contrary to a popular and prevalent notion, God has not promised in His Word that He will answer every prayer made to Him “in faith” in affirmative. Rather, God has very clearly written whose prayers and what kinds of prayers He will answer in the affirmative. In the last article we had seen and understood about another related misinterpretation and misconception that God will always answer in the affirmative the prayers made using the phrase “asking in Jesus’ name.” While considering all these things, we have seen that God only answers in the affirmative the prayers made by those of His truly Born-Again children who are fully committed and surrendered to Him, and those of their prayers that are consistent with His Word and in accordance with His will. Today, to further clarify this, we will see from John chapter 15 some things said by the Lord, and ponder over them.

In the preceding articles we have seen that the Lord has repeatedly said to His disciples in John chapters 14 to 16 that whatever they ask Father God in His name, God will fulfill it. The same thing, the Lord has also said in John chapter 15, and often this is taken to preach and teach that this is a promise by the Lord, given to and applicable for everyone. In the previous article, while learning about “asking in the name of Jesus” we have seen and understood that the Lord has given this promise only to His obedient, surrendered, and committed disciples. At the time when the Lord had said this promise, Judas Iscariot had already left them and gone away. The implication is that this promise by the Lord was not meant for anyone who calls himself a disciple of the Lord, but only for the true and actual disciples. On seeing this from John 15, some important facts related to this promise come up before us. Moreover, it also becomes clear to us that this promise of the Lord is “conditional,” even for those true, surrendered, and committed disciples of the Lord; it was never meant to be used casually and in any manner by them. Let us see the verses related to this promise from John 15.

• John 15:4-5 “Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me. I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.” The first condition to doing something through the Lord’s power, being “fruitful” for Him is to abide in Him. The true disciples of the Lord have to remain constantly connected to Him, abiding in Him; in prayer, in the Word, in obedience (1 John 2:3-6). Those disciples who connect to the Lord off and on, only as per their convenience or only for their needs, cannot be fruitful for the Lord.

• John 15:7 “If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you.” The condition of the aforementioned verses is affirmed by this verse. The Lord has made clear to His true, surrendered, and committed disciples that only when they abide in the Lord, and the Lord’s Word abides in them, will God listen and fulfill their prayers.

• John 15:10 “If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love, just as I have kept My Father's commandments and abide in His love.” These true disciples of the Lord can abide in the Lord’s love by staying obedient to Him. In other words, when they are obedient to the Lord, they will abide in Him, and when they abide in Him, then God will listen and fulfill their prayers. 

• John 15:16 “You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain, that whatever you ask the Father in My name He may give you.” The right to ask the Lord, ask God the Father belongs to those who are chosen and appointed by the Lord, those who “bear fruit" for Him. And as we have seen above, this “bearing fruit” is only possible for the true disciples by being obedient to the Lord.

• John 15:19 “If you were of the world, the world would love its own. Yet because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you.” Those who have been chosen by the Lord, they have also been separated out from the world by the Lord. This is proved by the world and the people of the world hating them just as they hated the Lord. The implication is evident, those who have the world and the things of the world in them, those who love the world and whom the world loves, they are not the people of the Lord (1 John 2:15-17). Therefore, the assurance of “asking in the name of Jesus” is not for them.

In other words, the things that the Lord Jesus has said to His true, surrendered, committed disciples, make it very clear that the promise of “asking in the name of Jesus” is not for everyone, only for His true, surrendered, committed disciples. And that too when they abide in Him and remain obedient to Him. In the next article we will look at and understand some other examples of “asking in faith” from the Lord.

If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord, make your decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now to ensure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Repenting of your sins, and asking the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily and sincerely, surrendering yourself to Him - is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life.  Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.
