प्रभु यीशु की कलीसिया में जुड़ना - सदस्यता अधिकार नहीं; दान है!
पिछले कुछ समय से हम प्रभु यीशु मसीह की कलीसिया के विषय बाइबल से अध्ययन करते आ रहे हैं। हमने मत्ती 16:18 में दिए प्रभु यीशु के कथन से इसे देखना आरंभ किया था, जहाँ बाइबल में पहली बार “कलीसिया” शब्द का प्रयोग किया गया है। हमने “कलीसिया” शब्द के अर्थ को समझा, और यह समझा कि कैसे यह पद कलीसिया को पतरस पर आधारित नहीं करता है। हमने यह देखा कि कलीसिया उन विश्वव्यापी लोगों का समूह है जो अपने परिवार, वंशावली, डिनॉमिनेशन, कार्यों, परंपराओं के निर्वाह, आदि के आधार पर नहीं, वरन अपने पापों से पश्चाताप करने, अपने पापों के लिए प्रभु यीशु से क्षमा माँगने, उसे अपना व्यक्तिगत उद्धारकर्ता स्वीकार करके, अपने जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करके, प्रभु यीशु की अधीनता में और उसके वचन की आज्ञाकारिता में जीवन व्यतीत करने का निर्णय लेते हैं। ये समर्पित लोग ही प्रभु की कलीसिया हैं, जिन्हें बाइबल में कई रूपकों (metaphors) के द्वारा भी संबोधित किया गया है। हमने देखा कि प्रभु यीशु ही स्वयं अपनी कलीसिया बना रहा है, उसने यह कार्य किसी अन्य के हाथों में नहीं छोड़ा है - न मनुष्यों के और न ही स्वर्गदूतों के; वही कलीसिया का आधार है; वही अपने लोगों को स्वयं कलीसिया में जोड़ता है; और उसके हाथों में अभी कलीसिया निर्माणाधीन है, प्रभु उसे अपने वचन के द्वारा धोकर शुद्ध और स्वच्छ कर रहा है, उसे बेदाग और बेझुर्री बना रहा है, ताकि वह एक पवित्र और महिमित दुल्हन के समान उसके साथ खड़ी हो। कोई भी मनुष्य किसी भी मानवीय अथवा किसी प्रकार की संस्थागत प्रक्रिया से प्रभु की कलीसिया में कदापि सम्मिलित नहीं हो सकता है; और जो कोई घुस भी आता है तो वह प्रभु द्वारा या तो अभी, नहीं तो जगत के अन्त के समय प्रभु की कलीसिया से पृथक कर दिया जाएगा, अनन्त विनाश में डाल दिया जाएगा। और पिछले लेख में हमने देखा था कि प्रभु का दूसरा आगमन, अपनी इसी कलीसिया को अपने पास उठा लेने और स्वर्ग में अपने साथ सुरक्षित कर लेने के लिए होगा।
प्रेरितों 2 अध्याय, प्रभु की प्रथम कलीसिया के स्थापित होने का वर्णन है; प्रेरितों 2:47 में लिखा है, “... और जो उद्धार पाते थे, उन को प्रभु प्रति दिन उन में मिला देता था।” इस प्रथम कलीसिया में सम्मिलित करने के लिए प्रभु ने जिस प्रक्रिया का प्रयोग किया, वही आज भी प्रभु की कलीसिया के साथ प्रभु द्वारा लोगों को जोड़े जाने के लिए प्रयोग की जाती है। इस प्रक्रिया को समझने के लिए प्रेरितों 2 अध्याय का एक संक्षिप्त पुनःअवलोकन कर लेते हैं। प्रभु यीशु ने अपने स्वर्गारोहण से पहले अपने शिष्यों से कहा कि वे यरूशलेम में पवित्र आत्मा की सामर्थ्य प्राप्त करने के प्रतीक्षा करते रहें, और जब वे सामर्थ्य प्राप्त कर लें तब उसके सुसमाचार के प्रचार की सेवकाई पर निकलें (प्रेरितों 1:4-8)। प्रेरितों 2 अध्याय का आरंभ शिष्यों द्वारा पवित्र आत्मा प्राप्त करने के साथ होता है; इस अद्भुत घटना को देखकर वहाँ पर्व मनाने के लिए एकत्रित हुए “भक्त यहूदी” (प्रेरितों 2:5) विस्मित हो गए, और पतरस ने खड़े होकर उनके इस असमंजस का निवारण भी किया, और पुराने नियम के हवालों के साथ उन्हें दिखाया कि यह परमेश्वर की ओर से है, तथा साथ ही प्रभु यीशु मसीह में पापों की क्षमा और उद्धार के सुसमाचार का प्रचार भी किया। पतरस के इस प्रचार से तब सुनने वालों के हृदय छिद गए, और वे पतरस और शेष प्रेरितों से पूछने लगे, कि हे भाइयो, हम क्या करें? (प्रेरितों 2:37)। उनके इस प्रश्न “हे भाइयो, हम क्या करें?” के उत्तर में पतरस उन्हें प्रेरितों 2:38-42 में सात बातें करने के लिए कहता है, जिनके होने से वे उद्धार पाएंगे प्रभु और उसकी कलीसिया के साथ जुड़ेंगे, और मसीही जीवन में अग्रसर तथा सुदृढ़ होंगे, प्रभु परमेश्वर के लिए उपयोगी होंगे। इसका यह अर्थ कदापि नहीं है कि उन लोगों का उद्धार उनके किन्हीं कार्यों के द्वारा था; वरन उनका इन सात बातों को मानना, प्रभु के उसके साथ जुड़ने के आह्वान को स्वीकार करके, उसकी सही प्रतिक्रिया देना था, प्रभु और उसके वचन का आज्ञाकारी होना था।
हम इन सात बातों को आने वाले दिनों में क्रमवार देखेंगे। आज हम इसकी पृष्ठभूमि पर एक दृष्टि डाल लेते हैं। ध्यान कीजिए, जिस दिन शिष्यों द्वारा पवित्र आत्मा को प्राप्त करने की घटना हुई, वह पिन्तेकुस्त के पर्व का दिन था (2:1), जो लैव्यव्यवस्था 23 अध्याय में दिए गए सात पर्वों में से एक था, जिसे मनाने के लिए यहूदी यरूशलेम में एकत्रित थे, और उन्हें 2:5 में “भक्त यहूदी” कहा गया है। इन “भक्त” यहूदियों को जब प्रभु यीशु के एक सच्चे शिष्य के द्वारा पवित्र आत्मा की सामर्थ्य में होकर सुसमाचार सुनाया गया, तो जैसा 2:37 में लिखा है:
* उनके हृदय छिद गए;
* उन्हें एहसास हुआ कि जो कुछ व्यवस्था में लिखा हुआ था उसे करने के बावजूद उनकी भक्ति अभी अपूर्ण है;
* उनके सामने यह प्रकट हो गया कि उनके पास इस समस्या का समाधान उपलब्ध नहीं है;
* उन्हें यह भी समझ आ गया कि उनके धार्मिक अगुवे उन्हें कोई समाधान नहीं देने पाएंगे, इसीलिए वे तुरंत ही प्रभु के शिष्यों की ओर समाधान पाने के लिए मुड़े, यहूदी धर्म-गुरुओं के पास नहीं गए;
* उन में से जितनों ने पतरस द्वारा बताए गए समाधान को स्वीकार किया, उसका पालन किया, लगभग 3000 लोग उसी दिन प्रभु के शिष्यों के साथ जुड़ गए, प्रभु की कलीसिया स्थापित हो गई।
उपरोक्त तथ्यों पर थोड़ा विचार कीजिए। यह सब जिनके बारे में लिखा गया है, वे सभी यहूदी - अर्थात, अब्राहम, इसहाक, याकूब के वंशज थे, परमेश्वर के लोग कहलाए जाते थे। वे “भक्त” थे; परमेश्वर के प्रति उनकी भक्ति और श्रद्धा पर यहाँ कोई प्रश्न नहीं उठाया गया है, कोई कटाक्ष नहीं किया गया है, वरन उनकी भक्ति को स्वीकार किया गया है, उसे मान्यता दी गई है। किन्तु यह सब होते हुए भी, उनमें से किसी को भी पश्चाताप करने से पहले, प्रभु की कलीसिया का भाग नहीं माना गया। केवल जिन्होंने पतरस की बात मानी और उसके अनुसार पश्चाताप किया, उन्हें ही कलीसिया का अंग बनाया गया। अर्थात, उनकी भक्ति और वंशावली के बावजूद, वे परमेश्वर के राज्य में प्रवेश करने से दूर थे; जैसा कि प्रभु ने नीकुदेमुस से भी कहा था (यूहन्ना 3:1-13) - उस उच्च ओहदा प्राप्त और आदरणीय यहूदी धर्म-गुरु को भी नया जन्म लेना, जल और आत्मा से जन्म लेना अनिवार्य था, तब ही वह परमेश्वर के राज्य को देखने पाता (यूहन्ना 3:3), उसमें प्रवेश करने पाता (यूहन्ना 3:5)।
यदि आप एक मसीही विश्वासी हैं, तो अपने आप को जाँच परख लें कि कहीं आप भी इन “भक्त” यहूदियों के समान, अपनी भक्ति, परंपराओं के निर्वाह, परिवार और वंशावली आदि के आधार पर तो अपने आप को प्रभु की कलीसिया का अंग नहीं समझ रहे हैं? क्या आपने वास्तव में पापों के पश्चाताप और प्रभु यीशु से पापों की क्षमा माँगने, उसे अपना जीवन पूर्णतः समर्पित करने के द्वारा नया जन्म प्राप्त किया है? यदि नहीं, तो आप भी उन “भक्त” यहूदियों और नीकुदेमुस के समान एक ऐसी धार्मिकता में जीवन व्यतीत कर रहे हैं, जिसका अंतिम परिणाम बहुत दुखदायी होगा। अभी समय और अवसर रहते, अपनी स्थिति को ठीक कर लीजिए, उन 3000 के समान, अपने लिए सही निर्णय कर के अपने अनन्त भविष्य को सुरक्षित एवं आशीषित कर लीजिए।
यदि आपने अभी तक प्रभु की शिष्यता को स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी उसके पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। यदि आपने अभी तक नया जन्म, उद्धार नहीं पाया है, प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा नहीं माँगी है, तो अभी आपके पास समय और अवसर है कि यह कर लें। प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” परमेश्वर आपके साथ संगति रखने की बहुत लालसा रखता है तथा आपको आशीषित देखना चाहता है, लेकिन इसे सम्भव करना आपका व्यक्तिगत निर्णय है। सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी। क्या आप अभी समय और अवसर होते हुए, इस प्रार्थना को नहीं करेंगे? निर्णय आपका है।

English Translation
The Church of Lord Jesus Christ – Membership a Gift; NOT a Right!
For the past some time we have been studying about the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ from the Bible. We had started by considering the statement of the Lord Jesus in Matthew 16:18, in which the word “Church” has been used for the very first time in God’s Word. In considering that verse we first understood the meaning of the word “Church”, and then we saw how that verse in no way says that the Church will be built or based on Peter. We saw that the Church is the group of people from all over the world, who have been gathered together, not because of their family, genealogy, denomination, works, fulfilling of certain prescribed rites-rituals-ceremonies, but because of their having repented of their sins, having asked the Lord Jesus for their forgiveness, and having accepted the Lord as their personal savior, have fully surrendered their lives to Him and are committed to living their lives in obedience to Him and His Word. It is these surrendered and committed people who comprise the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ, and they have been addressed through many metaphors in the Bible. We also saw that it is the Lord Jesus who is building His Church Himself; He has not left it in the hands of anyone else, neither humans, nor angels; It is He who is the base or foundation of the Church; it is He who Himself joins His people to His Church; and the Church, in His hands, is still “under-construction”, He is purifying and washing it with His Word, making it without spot or wrinkle, to be a holy and glorious Church, His Bride that will stand by His side. No human being can ever, through any human or organizational contrived process, join the Lord’s Church. If anyone manages to infiltrate, then sooner or later he is either exposed and cast out by the Lord, or is marked out and kept for separation and being sent to eternal destruction at the end time. We had seen in the previous article that at the Lord’s second coming, this prepared Church will be lifted up to be with the Lord forever in heaven.
In Acts chapter 2 we have the description of the establishment of the first Church. In Acts 2:47 it is written, “...And the Lord added to the church daily those who were being saved.” The process that the Lord used to join people to this first Church, is still used by the Lord to join people to His Church. To understand this process, let us do a quick recapitulation of Acts chapter 2. The Lord Jesus, before His ascension to heaven, asked His disciples to wait in Jerusalem, till they received the power of the Holy Spirit, and only then go out to preach the gospel to the ends of the earth (Acts 1:4-8). Acts 2 begins with the disciples receiving the Holy Spirit; on witnessing this astounding event, the “devout Jews” (Acts 2:5) were amazed and stupefied. Peter then stood amongst them and explained the happening to them, through the Old Testament passages explained to them that this was from God, and preached the gospel of salvation through Lord Jesus to them. On hearing the gospel from Peter ...they were cut to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, "Men and brethren, what shall we do?" (Acts 2:37). As an answer to their question "Men and brethren, what shall we do?" Peter, in Acts 2:38-42, tells them seven things to do, for being saved and joined to the Church, and then being established and growing in their life of Christian Faith, and being useful and fruitful for the Lord God. This does not in any way mean or imply that their salvation was by any kind of works that they had to do. Rather, their obeying these seven things was an indicator of their having actually accepted and obeyed the call to salvation made to them by the Lord; and that now they were giving the correct response to receiving salvation from the Lord, by being obedient to Him and His Word.
We will look at these seven things one by one in the subsequent articles. Today we will take a look at the background of this event. Take note that this event happened on the day of Pentecost (Acts 2:1), which was one of the seven main feasts of the Jews, given in Leviticus 23, and to celebrate this feast Jews from all over were gathered in Jerusalem, and in Acts 2:5, they have been called “devout Jews.” When these “devout Jews” heard the gospel from a true disciple of the Lord Jesus, through the power of the Holy Spirit, then as is written in Acts 2:37:
* They were cut to their hearts;
* They realized that despite fulfilling what is written in the Law, there is something lacking in their devotedness to God or piety;
* They realized that they did not have any answer to their predicament;
* They also realized that their religious leaders will not be able to provide them any answer or solution either; therefore, they immediately turned to the Lord’s disciples for obtaining the answer and solution, instead of going to their religious leaders and teachers of the Law;
* As many of them accepted the answer and solution given to them by Peter, and obeyed it, about 3000 people joined the disciples that very day, and the first Church of the Lord Jesus Christ was born.
Ponder a while over the aforementioned facts. All of this has been written about the Jews - the descendants of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, known as the people of God. They are called “devout” by the Word of God; no question is raised about their reverence and piety towards God, neither has this been said with any sarcasm; rather their reverence and piety has been acknowledged and accepted in the Word of God. But despite all of this, before they repented of their sins and accepted the Lord Jesus as their Saviour, none of them could join the Church of the Lord Jesus. It was only those who accepted what Peter told them to do, who were made a part of the Church. In other words, despite their genealogy, reverence, and piety, they were incapable of entering the eternal kingdom of God - as the Lord Jesus had already told Nicodemus (John 3:1-13). Nicodemus, a leader of the Pharisees, an honored teacher of God’s Word, as the Lord said to Him, had to be Born-Again, born of water and the Spirit; only then could he see the Kingdom of God (John 3:3), and enter into it (John 3:5).
If you are a Christian Believer, then you need to carefully examine yourself and see, if like these devout Jews, are you also relying upon your family, genealogy, devotedness and reverence for God, and your fulfilling the traditions and rituals, and thereby believing yourself to be a part of the Church of the Lord Jesus? Have you actually repented of your sins, asked the Lord Jesus for their forgiveness, and fully surrendered your life to Him to be a Born-Again child of God? If not, then you too, like those “devout Jews” and Nicodemus, are living a life of false righteousness, whose eventual result will be very sorry and painful. Now while you have the time and opportunity, like those 3000 Jews did, take the right decision and rectify your situation, and secure your eternal future.
If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord Jesus, then take a decision in its favor now to secure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. The Lord's security and blessings are present where there is obedience of the Lord, where His Word is honored and followed. If you are still not Born Again, have not obtained salvation, or have not asked the Lord Jesus for forgiveness for your sins, then you have the time and opportunity to do so right now. Ask the Lord Jesus to forgive your sins, and voluntarily and sincerely surrender yourselves into His hands - this is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. All you have to do is say a short prayer, voluntarily and with a sincere heart, with heartfelt repentance for your sins, and a fully submissive attitude. You can do this in this manner, “Lord Jesus, I confess that I have disobeyed You, and have knowingly or unknowingly, in mind, in thought, in attitude, and in deeds, committed sins. I believe that you have fully borne the punishment of my sins by your sacrifice on the cross, and have paid the full price of those sins for all eternity. Please forgive my sins, change my heart and mind towards you, and make me your disciple, take me with you." God longs for your company and wants to see you blessed, but to make this possible, is your personal decision. One prayer said with a sincere and surrendered heart will turn your present and future, your life here on earth and in the next world, forever and make you heavenly and blessed. Will you not say this prayer now, while you have the time and opportunity to do so? The decision is yours.
