पिछले लेखों में हमने देखा था,जैसा कि प्रभु यीशु मसीह ने मत्ती 22:21 में कहा है,  पृथ्वी और स्वर्ग के मानकों और गुणों में भिन्नता है। यद्यपि पृथ्वी के गुण और मानक पृथ्वी पर के कार्यों के लिये अनिवार्य और आवश्यक हैं, परन्तु परमेश्वर को स्वीकार्य होने और उसकी दृष्टि में भले होने के लिये, व्यक्ति को परमेश्वर के मानकों और गुणों के अनुसार भला और स्वीकार्य होना होगा। हमने यह भी देखा ठा कि मसीही विश्वास तथा मसीही विश्वासी के लिए परमेश्वर का वचन ही भले और बुरे के मध्य अन्तर की पहचान करवाता है, उसे परिभाषित करता है। सांसारिक मानकों और बातों के आधार पर, बाइबल के परमेश्वर का और उसकी बातों एवं निर्देशों का सही आँकलन तथा उनकी वैध समीक्षा नहीं की जा सकती है। फिर हमने देखा कि मनुष्य अपने जन्म से ही पाप के साथ संसार में प्रवेश करता है (भजन 51:5), और उसकी यह दशा उसकी मृत्यु तक उसके साथ बनी रहती है (यशायाह 64:6; रोमियों 3:10)। इसी कारण मनुष्य के जीवन भर उसमें तथा परमेश्वर के मध्य एक दूरी, एक अलगाव की स्थिति बनी रहती है (यशायाह 59:2)। इसलिए कोई भी मनुष्य अपनी स्वाभाविक, अपरिवर्तित शारीरिक दशा में, न तो परमेश्वर को प्रसन्न कर सकता है, और न ही अपनी किसी भलाई, या अपने कर्मों के द्वारा कुछ ऐसा कर सकता है कि परमेश्वर को स्वीकार्य बन सके। और फिर हमने देखा था कि बाइबल की परिभाषा के अनुसार केवल परमेश्वर ही है जो वास्तव में भला है (मरकुस 10:18)। साथ ही हमने यह भी देखा था कि नए नियम में प्रभु यीशु मसीह ने (मत्ती 19:17) और पुराने नियम में परमेश्वर यहोवा ने कहा है कि परमेश्वर की व्यवस्था के पालन के द्वारा मनुष्य जीवन में प्रवेश कर सकता है (लैव्यव्यवस्था 18:5; नहेम्याह 9:29; यहेजकेल 20:11। अब यह एक विचित्र विरोधाभास की, एक विडंबना की स्थिति को उत्पन्न करने वाली बात प्रतीत होती है। इस प्रतीत होने वाले विरोधाभास या विडंबना के समाधान के लिए हमें यह समझना आवश्यक है कि जिस व्यवस्था के पालन की बात की जा रही है, वास्तव में वह है क्या? आज से हम इसी बात पर अध्ययन आरम्भ करेंगे। 

लोगों को यह असमंजस रहता है कि जब पुराने नियम के लोगों से ज़ोर देकर उस व्यवस्था के पालन के लिए कहा गया था, उनके लिए यह करना अनिवार्य किया गया था, और साथ ही उन्हें परमेश्वर द्वारा आश्वस्त किया गया था कि व्यवस्था के पालन से वे जीवित रहेंगे, तो फिर आज हमारे जीवन पाने के लिए उसी व्यवस्था का पालन करने में क्या समस्या है? और फिर क्यों, नए नियम में, मसीही विश्वास में, यह इतना ज़ोर देकर कहा जाता है, इस बात के मानने को अनिवार्य किया जाता है कि कर्मों से, व्यवस्था के पालन से, किसी धर्म विशेष अथवा परिवार विशेष, यहाँ तक कि ईसाई धर्म और ईसाई या मसीही परिवार में भी जन्म ले लेने और उसकी मान्यताओं को निभाने से भी उद्धार या परमेश्वर को स्वीकार्य होना संभव ही नहीं है? क्यों सभी को पश्चाताप करना और प्रभु यीशु मसीह से पापों की क्षमा को व्यक्तिगत रीति से अपने लिए प्राप्त करना अनिवार्य कहा जाता है? परमेश्वर की व्यवस्था के होते हुए, और उसके द्वारा जीवन में प्रवेश मिलने की बात को प्रभु परमेश्वर द्वारा कहे जाने के बावजूद, क्यों यह कहा और सिखाया जाता है कि मसीही विश्वासियों को व्यवस्था के पालन की कोई आवश्यकता नहीं है, व्यवस्था के पालन से कोई भी लाभ नहीं होगा, और न ही कोई परमेश्वर के राज्य में प्रवेश करने पाएगा, या परमेश्वर को स्वीकार्य होने पाएगा?

सामान्यतः लोग समझते हैं कि व्यवस्था से अर्थ है पुराने नियम में, मूसा द्वारा लिखित पहली पाँच पुस्तकों में दिए गए भेंट, बलिदानों, पर्वों, विधियों, नियमों आदि का निर्वाह। किन्तु वास्तविकता यह है कि ये बातें व्यवस्था नहीं हैं। ये सभी बातें तो व्यवस्था के मानकों के अनुसार दोषी पाए गए मनुष्यों को उनके पाप-दोष की दशा, और उस दोष के समाधान के लिए किसी निर्दोष के उनके पापों को अपने ऊपर उठाने और उनके लिए अपना जीवन बलिदान देने को स्मरण करवाते रहने की विभिन्न प्रक्रियाएं हैं, जो प्रभु यीशु मसीह के जीवन, कार्य और बलिदान के पुराने नियम में दिए गए विभिन्न प्रतीक एवं प्ररूप हैं। ये परमेश्वर के कार्यों और गुणों को स्मरण करवाने वाली विधियाँ हैं; ये विधियाँ पाप को केवल स्मरण करवा सकती हैं, कभी पाप को हटा नहीं सकती हैं (इब्रानियों 10:3-4)। 

तो फिर व्यवस्था क्या है? प्रभु यीशु मसीह द्वारा, उनसे परमेश्वर की सबसे बड़ी आज्ञा के विषय प्रश्न करने वाले एक व्यवस्थापक को दिए गए उत्तर से ही इसे समझिए और जानिए: “उसने उस से कहा, तू परमेश्वर अपने प्रभु से अपने सारे मन और अपने सारे प्राण और अपनी सारी बुद्धि के साथ प्रेम रख। बड़ी और मुख्य आज्ञा तो यही है और उसी के समान यह दूसरी भी है, कि तू अपने पड़ोसी से अपने समान प्रेम रख। ये ही दो आज्ञाएं सारी व्यवस्था और भविष्यद्वक्ताओं का आधार है” (मत्ती 22:37-40; साथ ही यहाँ पद 35-40 + रोमियों 13:9 को भी देखिये)। व्यवस्था को और अधिक जानने और बेहतर समझने को हम अपने अगले लेख में ज़ारी रखेंगे।

यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। अपने पापों के लिये पश्चाताप करके, प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु, मैं अपने पापों के लिए पश्चातापी हूँ, उनके लिए आप से क्षमा माँगता हूँ। मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मुझे और मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

The Law – Part 1 - Biblically, What is the Law? – 1

In previous articles we have seen, as the Lord Jesus said in Matthew 22:21, the earthly and heavenly criteria and standards are different. While earthly criteria and standards serve earthly purposes, and are necessary for them; to be acceptable to God and be good in His eyes, one has to be good and acceptable by His criteria and standards. We also saw that in the Christian faith and for the Christian Believers it is God's Word that defines good, and identifies the difference between good and bad or evil. The God of the Bible and His Word and instructions cannot be correctly evaluated and assessed on the basis of worldly standards and things. Then we saw that man, right from his birth, enters the world with sin (Psalm 51:5) and this condition remains with him till his death (Isaiah 64:6; Romans 3:10). That is why throughout the life of man there remains a separation between him and God (Isaiah 59:2). Therefore, no man, in his natural, unregenerate physical condition, can ever please God; neither by his goodness, nor by any of his actions, can he do anything to become acceptable to God. And then we saw that by the Biblical definition it is only God who really is good (Mark 10:18). We also saw that in the New Testament the Lord Jesus Christ (Matthew 19:17), and in the Old Testament the God Jehovah (Leviticus 18:5; Nehemiah 9:29; Ezekiel 20:11) have said that man can enter life by obeying God's Law. This now appears to be a strange paradox, an inexplicable situation. To solve this apparent contradiction or paradox, it is necessary for us to understand what exactly is the Law that is being talked about? We will begin studying this from today.

People are perplexed that when for Old Testament people it was made mandatory to keep that Law, it was strongly emphasized that they do so, and at the same time they were assured by God that by keeping the Law they would live, then what's the problem with our obeying and following the same Law today to get life? And then why, in the New Testament, in the Christian faith, is it emphasized so much that it is necessary to realize and accept that by good deeds, by the observance of the Law, by being born in a particular religion or family, even being born in Christian religion or in a Christian family and following its beliefs does not ever make a person saved or acceptable to God? Why is it necessary for everyone to individually repent and personally receive the forgiveness of sins from the Lord Jesus Christ? Why then is it said and taught that Christians have no need to keep the Law, despite it being God's Law, and the Lord God speaking of entering life by observing it? And why is it taught in the New Testament that no one will benefit from keeping the Law, nor by observing it will anyone be able to enter the kingdom of God, or be acceptable to God?

The general understanding of the people is that the Law of the Old Testament, means the observance of the offerings, sacrifices, festivals, statutes, ordinances given in the first five books of Moses. But the reality is that these things are not the Law. All these things are various processes of reminding us of being guilty according to the standards of the Law, about the state of our sinfulness, and the fact for us an innocent animal must bear our sins and its life be sacrificed; all of these are various symbols and forms given in the Old Testament of the life, work and sacrifice of the Lord Jesus Christ. These are rituals to remind us of the works and qualities of God. Though these rituals and methods can repeatedly remind us of our sin, but they can never permanently take away our sin (Hebrews 10:3-4).

Then what is the Law? Let us understand and learn this from the answer given by the Lord Jesus Christ to a Scribe, who asked him about the greatest commandment of God: “Jesus said to him, "'You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.' This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like it: 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself.' On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets” (Matthew 22:37-40; here, also see from 35-40 + Romans 13:9). We will continue learning more and understanding better about the Law in the next article.

If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord, make your decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now to ensure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Repenting of your sins, and asking the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily and sincerely, surrendering yourself to Him - is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life.  Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.

प्रभु की मेज़ - केवल प्रभु के परिवार के लिए (1)

 

       प्रभु भोज या प्रभु की मेज़ के हमारे अध्ययन में हम अभी तक उसके पुराने नियम के प्ररूप, फसह, से सीखते आ रहे हैं। अब हम नए नियम में आते हैं और इसके बारे में नए नियम के वृतांतों से देखेंगे। पहले, हम प्रभु यीशु मसीह के द्वारा प्रभु की मेज़ की स्थापना के बारे में देखेंगे; फिर उन भ्रष्ट बातों के बारे में देखेंगे जो प्रभु की मेज़ को लेकर कलीसिया में आ गईं, और किस प्रकार से परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा ने प्रेरितों तथा नए नियम के लेखों में होकर उनके निवारण और समाधान को दिया। हम जब प्रभु भोज से संबंधित नए नियम के लेखों और शिक्षाओं को देख रहे होंगे, तो साथ ही हम यह भी देखेंगे कि किस प्रकार से वे तथा हमने जो निर्गमन 12 से सीखा है दोनों में पूर्ण सामंजस्य है। अर्थात, क्यों और कैसे निर्गमन 12 से प्रभु की मेज़ के बारे में लिए गए हमारे निष्कर्ष, शिक्षाएं, तथा अभिप्राय मन-गढ़ंत बातें या अटकलें नहीं, वरन बाइबल के तथ्य हैं; परमेश्वर के वचन की अकाट्य और अपरिवर्तनीय बातें।

       प्रभु यीशु मसीह के द्वारा प्रभु के मेज की स्थापना करने के वृतांत चारों सुसमाचारों में दिए गए हैं, और उन्हें साथ मिला कर देखने से पूरा घटनाक्रम और निष्कर्ष स्पष्ट होते हैं। प्रभु भोज से संबंधित, हमारी रुचि के भाग मत्ती 26, मरकुस 14, लूका 22, और यूहन्ना 13 में दिए गए हैं; और अध्ययन के इस भाग में हम सुसमाचारों के इन अध्यायों के पदों को संदर्भ के अनुसार देखते रहेंगे। हमारे अध्ययन का उद्देश्य सुसमाचारों के वृतांतों का विश्लेषण कर के उनमें सामंजस्य बैठाना नहीं है, बल्कि प्रभु भोज के महत्व, अर्थ, और अभिप्रायों को सीखना तथा समझना है, और मसीही विश्वासी के जीवन में उनके व्यावहारिक उपयोग को देखना है। आज हम फसह, जिसके मनाए जाने के दौरान प्रभु यीशु ने अपने शिष्यों के लिए प्रभु भोज को स्थापित किया था, उसकी तैयारी के साथ आरंभ करते हैं।

        हम मत्ती 26:17 से देखते हैं कि “अखमीरी रोटी के पर्व के पहिले दिन, चेले यीशु के पास आकर पूछने लगे; तू कहां चाहता है कि हम तेरे लिये फसह खाने की तैयारी करें?” शिष्यों ने प्रभु यीशु  से यह जो प्रश्न किया, यदि उसे उस घटना और उसके मनाए जाने के संदर्भ में देखें, तो यह हम से बहुत कुछ कहता है। हमने निर्गमन 12 के वृतांत से देखा है कि फसह को मनाना एक पारिवारिक बात थी, एक घराने के लिए एक मेमना बलि किया जाना था, और छोटे परिवारों को साथ मिलकर इसे मनाना था और एक ही मेमने में भाग लेना था (निर्गमन 12:3-4)। हम मरकुस 3:13-14 से यह भी जानते हैं कि प्रभु यीशु ने उन अनेकों लोगों में से जो उसके पीछे-पीछे चलते रहते थे, बारह को चुना, कि वो उसके मुख्य गुट बनकर उसके साथ रहें, और उसने उन्हें प्रशिक्षित किया कि सुसमाचार को लेकर संसार में जाएं, और उन बारह को उसने “प्रेरित” कहा (लूका 6:13; मत्ती 10:1-2)। ये प्रेरित सभी स्थानीय लोग थे, उनमें से अधिकांश गलीली थे। फसह इस्राएलियों का एक महत्वपूर्ण पारिवारिक वार्षिक पर्व था (निर्गमन 12:14)। किन्तु यहाँ पर ये शिष्य प्रभु से अपने निज परिवारों के साथ जाकर फसह मनाने, और फिर उसके बाद लौट कर आने की अनुमति नहीं मांग रहे हैं। और ऐसा भी नहीं है कि यह इसलिए था कि वे प्रभु के साथ इसलिए रहना चाहते थे क्योंकि उसने उन्हें उसके आते बलिदान और मृत्यु के बारे में स्मरण दिलाया था (मत्ती 26:1-2, 12)। वास्तव में लगता ही नहीं है कि किसी भी शिष्य ने प्रभु द्वारा उसके पकड़े जाने और क्रूस पर चढ़ाए जाने की बात को समझा भी था, ऐसा लगता ही नहीं है कि वे इस बात को लेकर ज़रा भी परेशान या दुखी थे। न ही प्रभु यीशु ने उनसे यह कहा कि वह फसह को अपने पृथ्वी के परिवार के साथ मनाएगा, और न ही उसने उन्हें निमंत्रण दिया कि उसके साथ चलकर वे भी प्रभु के पृथ्वी के परिवार के साथ फसह मनाएं। प्रभु पहले ही उन्हें बता चुका था कि उसके अनुसार उसका परिवार कौन है (मरकुस 3:31-35) - वे जो परमेश्वर की इच्छा को पूरी करते हैं; और हमें प्रभु द्वारा दी गई इस परिभाषा को याद रखने की आवश्यकता है, हमारी अपनी समझ, तथा भविष्य में इसके उपयोग के लिए।

        अगले लेख में हम नया जन्म पाए हुए मसीही विश्वासियों के प्रभु के परिवार का भाग बन जाने के बारे में कुछ और बातों को देखेंगे।

       यदि आपने अभी तक प्रभु की शिष्यता को स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी उसके पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। यदि आपने अभी तक नया जन्म, उद्धार नहीं पाया है, प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा नहीं माँगी है, तो अभी आपके पास समय और अवसर है कि यह कर लें। प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” परमेश्वर आपके साथ संगति रखने की बहुत लालसा रखता है तथा आपको आशीषित देखना चाहता है, लेकिन इसे सम्भव करना आपका व्यक्तिगत निर्णय है। सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी। क्या आप अभी समय और अवसर होते हुए, इस प्रार्थना को नहीं करेंगे? निर्णय आपका है।

The Lord’s Table - Only for the Lord’s Family (1)

 

       In our study of the Holy Communion or the Lord’s Table, so far, we have been learning about it from its Old Testament antecedent, the Passover. We now come to the New Testament and will learn from the New Testament accounts about it. First, we will see about the Lord’s Table being established by the Lord Jesus; then we will see about the aberrations that had crept into the Church regarding the Lord’s Table, and how they were addressed by God the Holy Spirit through the Apostles, in the NT writings. As we go along the NT texts and teachings related to the Holy Communion, we will also see how they are in agreement with what we have learnt from Exodus 12, i.e., how and why our conclusions, lessons, and implications learnt about the Lord’s Table from Exodus 12 were not conjectures and surmising, but Biblical facts, the infallible, unchanging things of the Word of God.

        The accounts of the Lord’s establishing the Lord’s Table are given in all four Gospels, and they together present the full picture of the events and their conclusions. Our portions of interest, related to the establishing of the Lord’s Table are found in Matthew 26, Mark 14, Luke 22, and John 13; and, in this part of the study, we will be referring to the relevant verses from these chapters of the Gospel accounts. The focus of our study is not discussing the Gospel accounts to harmonize them, but to learn about the significance, meaning, and implications of the Holy Communion, and the practical application of the teachings in the life of the Christian Believer. Let us now start with the preparation for the Passover, during which the Lord Jesus established the Holy Communion for His disciples.

        We see from Matthew 26:17, that “Now on the first day of the Feast of the Unleavened Bread the disciples came to Jesus, saying to Him, "Where do You want us to prepare for You to eat the Passover?"” The question asked by the disciples to the Lord speaks volumes, when we consider it in context of the event and its celebration. We have seen from the Exodus 12 account that the observing of the Passover was to be a family event, one lamb to be sacrificed per family, and the small families could join together as one, and partake of one lamb (Exodus 12:3-4). We also know from Mark 3:13-14 that from the people who followed Him around, the Lord Jesus had chosen twelve to be with Him, His core group, whom He trained to take the Gospel to the world, and called them Apostles (Luke 6:13; Matthew 10:1-2). These Apostles were all local people, mostly Galileans. The Passover was an important annual feast of the Israelites (Exodus 12:14), celebrated with the family. But here the disciples are not asking the Lord Jesus permission to go to their respective families to celebrate the Passover, and then come back and join Him afterwards. Nor was it because they were desirous of being with the Lord, since He had again reminded them of His impending sacrifice and death (Matthew 26:1-2, 12). Actually, none of the disciples seem to have understood what the Lord had said about His being caught and crucified, they do not seem to be at all perturbed about it. Neither did the Lord Jesus say that He will celebrate it with His earthly family, nor did He invite them to go with Him to celebrate with His earthly family. He had already defined for them, what for Him constituted His family - those who did the will of God (Mark 3:31-35) – and we need to keep this mind for our understanding and future use as well.

        In the next article we will see some more about the Born-Again Christian disciples becoming a part of the household of the Lord.

I believe that you have fully borne the punishment of my sins by your sacrifice on the cross, and have paid the full price of those sins for all eternity. Please forgive my sins, change my heart and mind towards you, and make me your disciple, take me with you." God longs for your company and wants to see you blessed, but to make this possible, is your personal decision. One prayer said with a sincere and surrendered heart will turn your present and future, your life here on earth and in the next world, forever and make you heavenly and blessed. Will you not say this prayer now, while you have the time and opportunity to do so? The decision is yours.

गढ़ी हुई धार्मिकता के भ्रम की युक्ति से प्रभावित

पिछले लेख में हमने इफिसियों 4:14 से देखा था कि प्रभु परमेश्वर के प्रति अविश्वास और अनाज्ञाकारिता के कारण बालकों के समान अपरिपक्व रहने वाले मसीही विश्वासी, और उन से बनी अपरिपक्व कलीसिया, शैतान का शिकार रहते हैं। वे मनुष्यों की ठग विद्या और चतुराई द्वारा भटकाए और फंसाए जाते हैं; भ्रम की युक्तियों से प्रभावित रहते हैं; गलत शिक्षकों एवं गलत उपदेशकों के गलत उपदेशों से गलत शिक्षाएं लेते और मानते रहते हैं, और अपरिपक्वता के इन दुष्प्रभावों के कारण इधर से उधर विभिन्न मतों, समुदायों, विचारों में उछले और घुमाए जाते हैं, भटकाए जाते हैं। इनमें से पहले दुष्प्रभाव को देखने के बाद, पिछले लेख में हमने दूसरे दुष्प्रभाव, भ्रम की युक्तियों में फँसने का एक उदाहरण, परमेश्वर के भक्त जनों, अय्यूब और उसके मित्रों की बातों से देखा था। अय्यूब के मित्र अपनी ओर से परमेश्वर के पक्ष में और अय्यूब को दोषी ठहराने के लिए तर्क-वितर्क करते रहे, और अय्यूब अपने आप को निर्दोष बताता रहा। अन्ततः परमेश्वर से सामना होने के बाद अय्यूब को अपनी वास्तविक दशा का, अपने भ्रम का, और शैतान द्वारा उसे स्व-धार्मिकता के पाप में फँसाए रहने का एहसास हुआ; उसने पश्चाताप किया, परमेश्वर से क्षमा माँगी, अपने मित्रों के लिए भी क्षमा याचना की, और अपनी आशीषों को बहाल किया, परमेश्वर से दोगुना प्राप्त किया, और अपने मित्रों को परमेश्वर के प्रकोप से बचाया। आज हम इसी भ्रम और युक्ति के एक अन्य उदाहरण को नए नियम से देखेंगे, कि किस प्रकार शैतान अपनी युक्ति के द्वारा प्रभु यीशु से मिलने वाली धार्मिकता के स्थान पर हमें अपने कर्मों और सांसारिक लोगों के समान व्यवहार के द्वारा एक गढ़ी हुई धार्मिकता के निर्वाह में फँसा देता है, हमें परमेश्वर के मार्गों से और उसकी संगति तथा निकटता से पथ-भ्रष्ट कर देता है, अप्रभावी बना देता है। कृपया पौलुस प्रेरित द्वारा कुलुस्से की मण्डली को लिखी पत्री - कुलुस्सियों 2 अध्याय को अपने सामने खोल कर रखें।

इस अध्याय का आरंभ पौलुस द्वारा उस मण्डली के लोगों से किए गए आह्वान से होता है कि वे प्रभु यीशु मसीह और उसमें छिपे “बुद्धि और ज्ञान के सारे भण्डार” को पहचान लें, जिससे कि मनुष्यों की लुभावनी बातों से धोखे में न आएं (पद 2-4)। पद 5 से ध्यान कीजिए कि वह उनके चरित्र और विश्वास की दृढ़ता की सराहना तो करता है, किन्तु साथ ही पवित्र आत्मा के द्वारा उसे आशंका है, और वह उन्हें चिताता है कि वे धोखे में आ सकते हैं। फिर पद 6-8 में वह उन्हें इस धोखे से बचने और झूठ तथा सत्य के बीच पहचान करने की विधि बताता है - मसीह में बने और चलते रहो, बढ़ते रहो; और  चौकस रहो कि कोई तुम्हें उस तत्‍व-ज्ञान और व्यर्थ धोखे के द्वारा अहेर न करे ले, जो मनुष्यों के परंपराई मत और संसार की आदि शिक्षा के अनुसार हैं, पर मसीह के अनुसार नहीं (कुलुस्सियों 2:8)। फिर पौलुस पवित्र आत्मा के द्वारा, पद 9-15 में प्रभु यीशु मसीह के गुण, हमारे उद्धार तथा परमेश्वर से मेल-मिलाप के लिए किए गए उसके कार्य के महत्व, तथा उसके साथ मसीही विश्वासियों के संबंध और उससे विश्वासियों के जीवनों में होने वाले प्रभावों के बारे में लिखता है। यहाँ, पद 14-15 में दी गई बात को ध्यान रखना अनिवार्य है - प्रभु यीशु मसीह ने हमारे लिए व्यवस्था और उसकी सभी मांगो को पूरा कर के, सदा के लिए उसके पालन को हमारे सामने से हटा दिया है। जब हम मसीह यीशु में आ जाते हैं, तो उसमें होने के द्वारा, हम उसके द्वारा व्यवस्था के पालन की अनिवार्यता को पूरा करके हटा देने की आशीष में भी आ जाते हैं, उस आशीष के संभागी हो जाते हैं। अब हमारे मसीह में होने के कारण व्यवस्था की हम पर कोई माँग शेष नहीं रही है, जैसे मसीह पर व्यवस्था की कोई माँग नहीं है। मसीह यीशु में होने के कारण मसीही विश्वासी व्यवस्था की हर एक बात के पालन से मुक्त हो गया है। इसलिए अब मसीहियों का वापस व्यवस्था के पालन की ओर मुड़ना, मसीह के द्वारा दिए गए बलिदान को और उद्धार के लिए किए गए उसके कार्य को नकारना, उसका तिरस्कार करना, और फिर से अपने कर्मों की स्व-धार्मिकता की बंधुवाई में लौटना है।

शैतान मसीही विश्वासियों और उनसे बनी कलीसिया को इसी स्व-धार्मिकता के भ्रम की बंधुवाई में वापस लाने, और उन्हें प्रभु परमेश्वर और उसके कार्यों, तथा सुसमाचार प्रचार के लिए अप्रभावी बनाने के लिए विभिन्न प्रकार के कर्मों की धार्मिकता में फँसाने की युक्तियों का प्रयास करता है, जैसा पद 16-18 में लिखा है। शैतान अपनी युक्तियों द्वारा विश्वासियों को स्व-धार्मिकता के भ्रम में फँसाने के लिए उन्हें खाने-पीने द्वारा धर्मी-अधर्मी होने; संसार के लोगों के पर्वों, दिनों, त्यौहारों को मनाने के द्वारा परमेश्वर को स्वीकार्य एवं प्रसन्न करने वाले होने; दीनता के व्यवहार को दिखाने, तथा परमेश्वर के दासों/सेवकों को आराधना और उपासना के योग्य समझने और मानने वाला होने, आदि बातों के भ्रम में फँसाने के प्रयास करता है। इन बातों के प्रभावी होने को दिखाने के लिए शैतान विभिन्न प्रकार की युक्तियों और भ्रम का प्रयोग करता है। किन्तु उसके इस भ्रम और युक्तियों से बचाव का मार्ग पहले ही दे दिया गया है - प्रभु यीशु मसीह में ही सारी बुद्धि, समझ और धार्मिकता है; जो प्रभु यीशु में है, उसे और किसी बात की कोई आवश्यकता नहीं है, जिसे फिर से पद 19 में दोहराया गया है।

फिर पद 20-23 में पवित्र आत्मा, पौलुस के द्वारा इस कर्मों के द्वारा धर्मी होने के भ्रम की व्यर्थता पर बल देते हुए, मण्डली के लोगों से अपने आप से प्रश्न करने और अपने आप को जाँचने के लिए कहता है। पद 23 में निष्कर्ष के साथ शैतान की इस गढ़ी हुई धार्मिकता, शैतान के भ्रम और युक्तियों के व्यर्थ होने एक व्यावहारिक प्रमाण भी दिया गया है इन विधियों में अपनी इच्छा के अनुसार गढ़ी हुई भक्ति की रीति, और दीनता, और शारीरिक योगाभ्यास के भाव से ज्ञान का नाम तो है, परन्तु शारीरिक लालसाओं को रोकने में इन से कुछ भी लाभ नहीं होता (कुलुस्सियों 2:23)। परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा ने यहाँ स्पष्ट लिखवाया है कि पद 16-18, 20 में दी गई धार्मिकता के लिए विभिन्न कर्मों के निर्वाह करने वालों के जीवनों में स्पष्ट देखा जाता है कि यह सब करने के बाद भी शारीरिक योगाभ्यास के भाव से ज्ञान का नाम तो है, परन्तु शारीरिक लालसाओं को रोकने में इन से कुछ भी लाभ नहीं होता - अर्थात यह सब कर के भी वे लोग शारीरिक लालसाओं से फिर भी पराजित ही रहते हैं, किन्तु अपने आप को बहुत धर्मी समझने के भ्रम में फंसे रहते हैं। अब मेरे और आपके लिए, प्रत्येक मसीही विश्वासी के लिए प्रश्न है कि जो बातें उन्हें शरीर पर ही जयवंत नहीं करने पाई हैं, वे उन्हें परमेश्वर की दृष्टि में धर्मी, उसे स्वीकार्य, और स्वर्ग में जाने के लिए पवित्र कैसे बनाने पाएंगी? यह सब आडंबर है, शैतान द्वारा फैलाया गया भ्रम, और इस भ्रम में फँसाए रखने के लिए वह विभिन्न प्रकार की युक्तियों का प्रयोग करता रहता है।

यदि आप एक मसीही विश्वासी हैं, तो कुलुस्सियों 2 अध्याय के आधार पर अपने मसीही जीवन को जाँच-परख कर देख लें की कहीं आप पर भी तो शैतान के इस भ्रम और  युक्तियों में फँसाने का दांव तो नहीं चल गया है? कहीं आप भी धर्म-कर्म-त्यौहार और पर्वों तथा दिनों को मनाने, परमेश्वर के लोगों और सेवकों को अस्वाभाविक तथा अनुचित आदर और आराध्य होने का दर्जा देने की व्यर्थ धार्मिकता में तो नहीं फंस गए हैं? शैतान के भ्रम और उसकी इन युक्तियों को पहचानने और उनसे बचने का एक ही उपाय है - कुलुस्सियों 2:6-8। यदि आप को अपने जीवन में कोई सुधार करना है, तो अभी समय और अवसर रहते हुए कर लीजिए, कहीं बाद में बहुत देर न हो जाए, और आप किसी बहुत बड़ी हानि में न पड़े रह जाएं।

यदि आपने अभी तक प्रभु की शिष्यता को स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी उसके पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। यदि आपने अभी तक नया जन्म, उद्धार नहीं पाया है, प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा नहीं माँगी है, तो अभी आपके पास समय और अवसर है कि यह कर लें। प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” परमेश्वर आपके साथ संगति रखने की बहुत लालसा रखता है तथा आपको आशीषित देखना चाहता है, लेकिन इसे सम्भव करना आपका व्यक्तिगत निर्णय है। सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी। क्या आप अभी समय और अवसर होते हुए, इस प्रार्थना को नहीं करेंगे? निर्णय आपका है।

Prone to Deception of a Contrived Righteousness

In the previous articles we have seen from Ephesians 4:14 that because of their being disobedient and lacking in faith towards the Lord God, the child-like and immature Christian Believers, and the immature Church made up of such immature Believers, are easy victims of Satan. They are prone to falling for his deceptions and trickeries; get carried away in his craftiness and cunningness; they keep accepting false doctrines and wrong teachings from false preachers and teachers, and because of the harmful effects of their spiritual immaturity, get carried away into following the man-made teachings of various groups, sects, and denominations. While considering one of these harmful effects of spiritual immaturity, in the last article, we had seen an example of satanic deception from the lives of Job and his friends, of people considering themselves being righteous, while actually being unrighteous and contrary to God, unknowingly. Job’s friends wanted to convince Job that he had gone contrary to God and was guilty of some sin, and kept arguing with him about it, all the time being under the deception that they were speaking in favour of God; while Job continued to defend his being blameless. Eventually, when God confronted Job, he realized his actual state of being unrighteous because of his self-righteousness. That is when Job repented, asked for God’s forgiveness, pleaded for his friends being forgiven also; thereby, his blessings were restored, he received double of what he had lost, and his friends were spared the punishment from God. Today we will see another example from the New Testament, that illustrates how Satan beguiles us away from the nearness and fellowship of God by getting us to ignore our righteousness of faith received from the Lord Jesus, get entangled in self-righteousness of works, and behave like the people of the world; rendering us ineffective for the Lord. Please keep open before you a portion from the letter written by the Apostle Paul, to the Church in Colossae - Colossians chapter 2.

This chapter begins by the Apostle Paul imploring the Church in Colossae that they always stay aware of the Lord Jesus Christ and “the treasures of wisdom and knowledge” available in Him, so that they are not caught up by the deceptive smooth-talks of the people (verses 2-4). Note from verse 5 that though he commends their Christian character and firmness of faith, but yet, through the Holy Spirit he is worried about the possibility of their being deceived, so he cautions them about it. Then from verse 6 to 8 he tells them the way of escaping this deception, and tells them how to discern between truth and falsehood - walk in the Lord Jesus Christ, rooted and built up in Him, Beware lest anyone cheat you through philosophy and empty deceit, according to the tradition of men, according to the basic principles of the world, and not according to Christ (Colossians 2:8). After this, in verses 9 to 15, Paul through the Holy Spirit speaks of the qualities and characteristics of the Lord Jesus, about the importance of the way through which we have been saved and reconciled with God, about the necessity of the Christian Believers being in fellowship with the Lord, and the effects these produce in the lives of the Believers. It is particularly important to pay heed to what is written in verses 14-15 and never lose sight of it - that the Lord Jesus has fulfilled the Law and taken keeping it out of the way, once and for all, for all Believers. When we come into faith in the Lord Jesus, by the virtue of being in Him, we also come into the blessing of having been delivered from the necessity of obeying the Law. Now, by virtue of our being ‘in Christ’, just as the Law has no demand on Christ, similarly it has no demand on us. Because of being ‘in Christ’, every Christian Believer has been set free from following the Law. Therefore, now for anyone to turn back to try to live according to the Law and to fulfill it, is akin to disregarding and rejecting the sacrifice of the Lord Jesus and His work to give salvation, and returning back into the bondage of self-righteousness by works.

Satan tries various ways to entice Christian Believers and their Church into the deception of falling for and getting entangled in self-righteousness of works, and thereby rendering them ineffective for God’s work and for preaching the gospel of salvation by faith, as is written in verses 16-18. To get them to fall into being entangled in self-righteousness of works, Satan tries to deceive through being righteous or unrighteous by eating or avoiding certain things; by observing and celebrating certain feasts, festivals, special days, etc.; by putting up a show of false humility; by exalting people and servants of God, to the status of being worthy of worship and being prayed to, etc., as is the manner of people of the world. To show that these things are efficacious, Satan uses various deceptions and tricks. But the way to escape from these deceptions, has already been told to us at the beginning of the chapter, and has been repeated again in verse 19 - all knowledge, wisdom, and righteousness is only in the Lord Jesus; for the person who is ‘in Christ’, to be righteous before God, nothing else is ever required, there is no need for him to be involved in anything else or anything more.

Then in verses 20-23, God the Holy Spirit, through Paul, while strongly emphasizing the deception and vanity of this righteousness by works, asks the members of the Church to examine themselves about it. In verse 23, along with the conclusion, a practical proof of the vanity of these satanic deceptions and tricks is also given, These things indeed have an appearance of wisdom in self-imposed religion, false humility, and neglect of the body, but are of no value against the indulgence of the flesh (Colossians 2:23). Here, God the Holy Spirit has very clearly got written that despite doing the works for being righteous, given in verses 16-18, 20, it is evident from the lives of those who do these works that even though those works “have an appearance of wisdom in self-imposed religion, false humility, and neglect of the body, but are of no value against the indulgence of the flesh.” In other words, those people are still prone to succumbing to the indulgences of the flesh, but still keep thinking of themselves as having become righteous. This raises a question for all those who follow those works, and for every Christian Believer - the things that could not make them honest and victorious over ‘the desires and deeds of the flesh’, how can they make them spiritually mature, righteous, acceptable to God, pure and holy to enter into heaven? All of this is nothing more than hypocrisy, a trick played by Satan, his deception; and to ensure that people keep falling for, and remaining trapped in his deceptions, he keeps on playing various tricks on them.

If you are Christian Believer, then examine your life on the basis of Colossians chapter 2, and ascertain that you have not fallen for this satanic deception and any of his tricks. Make sure that you are not involved in considering yourself as righteous by God because of your contrived righteousness of religion, works, and celebrating certain days and festivals. There is only one way of escaping from these deceptions and tricks of Satan - follow Colossians 2:6-8. If you need to correct something in your life, do it now, while you have the time and opportunity; lest it be very late later on, and you fall into some great irreversible harm.

इस श्रृंखला में हम देखते आ रहे हैं कि अपने पापों के लिए पश्चाताप करने और प्रभु यीशु पर लाए गए विश्वास द्वारा पापों की क्षमा तथा उद्धार प्राप्त करने पर प्रभु व्यक्ति को अपने लोगों के समूह, अर्थात, अपनी कलीसिया के साथ जोड़ देता है। प्रभु की कलीसिया के साथ जोड़ दिए गए व्यक्तियों के जीवनों में, कलीसिया के आरंभ से ही, प्रेरितों 2:38-42 में दी गई सात बातें भी देखी जाती रही हैं। इन सात में से चार बातें, एक साथ एक ही वाक्य में, प्रेरितों 2:42 में लिखी गई हैं, और इन चारों के लिए यह भी कहा गया है कि उस आरंभिक कलीसिया के लोग उन में “लौलीन रहे”। इन चार बातों को मसीही जीवन तथा कलीसिया को स्थिर और दृढ़ बनाए रखने वाले चार स्तंभ भी कहा जाता है। पिछले लेखों में हम सात में से पाँच बातें देख चुके हैं। आज हम छठी बात, जो 2:42 की तीसरी बात, और कलीसिया तथा मसीही जीवन का तीसरा स्तंभ है, ‘रोटी तोड़ना’ के बारे में कुछ बातें देखेंगे, और इन्हें अगले लेख में पूरा करने का प्रयास करेंगे।

जब परमेश्वर ने इस्राएलियों को मूसा के द्वारा मिस्र के दासत्व से छुड़ाया था, तो उनके छुटकारे की रात को उन्हें “फसह का पर्व” या “लाँघन पर्व” मनाने की विधि भी दी थी, जिसका वर्णन निर्गमन 12 अध्याय में दिया गया है। इस पर्व को, व्यवस्था के दिए जाने के समय, इस्राएल के वार्षिक पर्वों में सम्मिलित किया गया (लैव्यव्यवस्था 23:5-8)। निर्गमन 12 में दिए गए विवरण के अनुसार, फसह का यह पर्व परिवार जनों के द्वारा साथ मिलकर मनाया जाना था, और यदि परिवार छोटा हो, तो किसी अन्य निकट के छोटे परिवार के साथ सम्मिलित होकर मनाया जाना था (निर्गमन 12:3-4)। यह पर्व पापों से और शैतान के दासत्व से “परमेश्वर के मेमने” प्रभु यीशु के बलिदान के द्वारा छुटकारे का प्रतीक था। इस प्रतीकात्मक पर्व को वास्तविक करने से ठीक पहले, प्रभु यीशु मसीह ने यह पर्व अपने शिष्यों के साथ मनाया था (मत्ती 26:17-19)। इस पर्व को मनाते समय, पर्व की रीति के अनुसार शिष्यों के साथ भोजन करते समय, प्रभु ने एक और कार्य भी किया - जो पर्व की विधि से कुछ भिन्न था - प्रभु ने रोटी और कटोरे को लेकर उन्हें अपनी देह और लहू का चिह्न बताया और उसे शिष्यों में वितरित किया। इस पर्व के मनाए जाने और प्रभु द्वारा इस प्रकार से रोटी और कटोरे को अपनी देह और लहू का चिह्न बताने का उल्लेख चारों सुसमाचारों में किया गया है।

इस पर्व के मनाए जाने और प्रभु द्वारा रोटी और कटोरा दिए जाने के चारों सुसमाचारों के वर्णनों को साथ मिलाकर ध्यान से तथा क्रमवार देखने से स्पष्ट हो जाता है कि प्रभु ने फसह के पर्व का भोजन बारहों शिष्यों के साथ आरंभ किया, अर्थात फसह के भोज के समय यहूदा इस्करियोती भी उनके साथ था, और जब प्रभु ने शिष्यों के पाँव धोए, तो यहूदा के भी धोए थे (यूहन्ना 13:4-25)। और फसह के भोज का पहला टुकड़ा, प्रभु ने यहूदा इस्करियोती को दिया, जिसने उसके साथ थाली में हाथ डाला था (मत्ती 26:23, मरकुस 14:20; लूका 22:21; यूहन्ना 13:26), और उससे कहा कि जो तुझे करना है सो कर (यूहन्ना 13:27)। फसह के पर्व का वह पहला टुकड़ा दिए जाने के साथ भोज को खाना आरंभ हो गया, प्रभु और शिष्य फसह के भोज को खाने लगे, और प्रभु से वह टुकड़ा लेते ही यहूदा तुरंत बाहर चला गया (यूहन्ना 13:30); किन्तु यह ध्यान देने योग्य बात है कि यह कहीं नहीं लिखा है कि यहूदा ने उस टुकड़े को लेकर खाया भी। यहूदा के चले जाने के बाद, जब वे खा रहे थे, तब प्रभु यीशु ने भोज में से उठकर रोटी और कटोरे को उन्हें अपनी देह और लहू के चिह्न के रूप में दिया, और उनसे यह करते रहने के लिए कहा (मत्ती 26:26-28; मरकुस 14:22-25; लूका 22:19-20)। अर्थात, शैतान का वह जन, यहूदा इस्करियोती फसह के पर्व की आरंभिक प्रक्रियाओं में तो था, और प्रभु ने उसे बदलने का मौका भी दिया, उसके पाँव धोए, उससे प्रेम दिखाया, उसे सब के सामने प्रकट और शर्मिंदा नहीं किया, और भोज का पहला टुकड़ा भी उसे ही दिया, जो पारंपरिक रीति से प्रिय जन को दिया जाता था। किन्तु न तो वह बदला, और न उसने फसह का भोज खाया और न ही प्रभु द्वारा मानव जाति के पापों के निवारण और समाधान के लिए दिए जाने वाले अपने बलिदान के प्रतीक रोटी और लहू का चिह्न स्थापित किए जाने के समय वह उनके मध्य में उपस्थित था।

प्रभु की मेज़, प्रभु भोज का यह दर्शन, हमारे मसीही विश्वास और जीवनों के लिए कुछ बहुत गंभीर तथ्य हमारे सामने रखता है। न ही प्रभु यीशु ने, और न ही उनके उन शिष्यों ने यह पर्व अपने निज परिवारों के साथ मनाया, वरन एक साथ मिलकर मनाया - प्रभु में लाए गए विश्वास और समर्पण के द्वारा अब प्रभु और उसके अन्य विश्वासी ही उनका “परिवार” थे, जो यूहन्ना 1:12-13 में प्रभु यीशु मसीह पर विश्वास के द्वारा परमेश्वर की संतान, प्रभु की कलीसिया और परमेश्वर के घराने के लोग (इफिसियों 2:19) होने की पुष्टि करता है। हम यह भी सीखते हैं कि, प्रभु की मेज़, केवल प्रभु के सच्चे समर्पित लोगों के लिए है, हर किसी के द्वारा सार्वजनिक निर्वाह के लिए कोई प्रथा या परंपरा नहीं है। प्रभु ने इसमें भाग लेने के लिए केवल अपने साथ रहने वाले उन शिष्यों को ही आमंत्रित किया, सर्व-साधारण को नहीं; और फिर शिष्यों में से भी जब शैतान का जन चला गया, तब ही प्रभु ने इसे स्थापित किया। निःसंदेह, इसमें भाग लेने वाले शिष्य सिद्ध नहीं थे - थोड़ी ही देर बाद सब के सब प्रभु को छोड़ कर भाग गए, और पतरस ने तो तीन बार प्रभु का इनकार भी किया। किन्तु पुनरुत्थान के बाद प्रभु ने इन्हीं शिष्यों को फिर से दृढ़ और स्थापित कर के कलीसिया का आरंभ किया, सारे संसार में सुसमाचार को पहुँचाया, और उन्हीं के द्वारा संसार भर में कलीसिया का दर्शन गया, कलीसिया स्थापित हुईं। 

प्रभु की मेज़ से संबंधित कुछ अन्य तथ्य हम आगे अगले लेख में देखेंगे। यदि आप एक मसीही विश्वासी हैं, तो आपके मसीही जीवन को स्थिर और दृढ़ रखने में, आपको प्रभु के लिए उपयोगी बनाने में, प्रभु की मेज़ में सम्मिलित होने की एक बहुत प्रमुख और महत्वपूर्ण भूमिका है। किन्तु ध्यान रखिए कि यह कोई रस्म या परंपरा नहीं है, जिसमें भाग लेने के द्वारा आप परमेश्वर की दृष्टि में धर्मी हो जाते हैं। वरन, अनुचित रीति से भाग लेने के द्वारा, व्यक्ति परमेश्वर के न्याय के नीचे आ जाते हैं, तथा दंड के भागी हो जाते हैं। इसलिए प्रभु की मेज़ में, प्रभु भोज में सम्मिलित होने से पहले इसके अर्थ और दर्शन को भली भांति समझकर, तब उचित रीति से इसमें सम्मिलित हों तथा इसकी आशीषों के संभागी हों, अन्यथा अनुचित रीति से भाग लेना बहुत भारी पड़ जाएगा।

यदि आपने अभी तक प्रभु की शिष्यता को स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी उसके पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। यदि आपने अभी तक नया जन्म, उद्धार नहीं पाया है, प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा नहीं माँगी है, तो अभी आपके पास समय और अवसर है कि यह कर लें। प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” परमेश्वर आपके साथ संगति रखने की बहुत लालसा रखता है तथा आपको आशीषित देखना चाहता है, लेकिन इसे सम्भव करना आपका व्यक्तिगत निर्णय है। सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी। क्या आप अभी समय और अवसर होते हुए, इस प्रार्थना को नहीं करेंगे? निर्णय आपका है।

English Translation

The Third Pillar - Lord’s Table - Lessons From it's Inception

In this series we have seen that once a person repents of his sins, comes to faith in the Lord Jesus, and is saved, the Lord Jesus joins him to His people, i.e., His Church. Since the beginning, in the lives of the people joined to the Church of the Lord Jesus, the seven things given in Acts 2:38-42 are seen. Of these seven things, four have been grouped together and given in one sentence, in Acts 2:42. In the same sentence it has also been stated about these four things that the members of the initial Church “continued steadfastly” in them. These four things have been called the four pillars of Christian life and Church that keep the Believer and the Church stable and firm. In the previous articles we have already seen five out of these seven things. Today we will consider the sixth one, which is the third thing stated in Acts 2:42, and is the third pillar of the Church and Christian living - “Breaking of Bread” - we will see some things about it today and try to complete it in the next article.

When God delivered the Israelites out of slavery of Egypt, then He also gave them the “Passover Feast” to celebrate in the night of their deliverance, its description we have in Exodus 12. This feast was later included in the annual feasts given in the Law, to be celebrated by the Israelites (Leviticus 23:5-8). According to the description given in Exodus 12, the Passover Feast was to be celebrated as a family, and if the family was small then that family could join with another family to celebrate it (Exodus 12:3-4). This feast was a depiction of deliverance from Satan and sin through the sacrifice of the “Lamb of God” - the Lord Jesus Christ. The Lord Jesus celebrated this feast with His disciples, immediately before turning this representative feast into His actual sacrifice (Matthew 26:17-19). While celebrating this feast in the prescribed manner, the Lord Jesus also did one more thing - which was somewhat different from the traditional ritual of the feast - the Lord took the Bread and the Cup, and called them representations of His Body and Blood, and then distributed them amongst the disciples. The celebration of this feast and the Lord calling the Bread and the Cup representations of His Body and Blood, has been recorded in all the four gospels.

When we chronologically place together the descriptions given in the four gospels, then it becomes apparent that the Lord began the Passover feast with His twelve disciples, i.e., Judas Iscariot was also present at that time, and when the Lord washed the feet of the disciples, He washed the feet of Judas as well (John 13:4-25). The Lord gave the first piece of the Passover Feast meal to Judas Iscariot, who had put his hand in the dish with the Lord (Matthew 26:23, Mark 14:20; Luke 22:21; John 13:26), and told him to do what he wanted to do (John 13:27). With the giving of the first piece of the Passover Feast meal to Judas Iscariot, the eating of the meal began, and the Lord with His disciples started to eat the meal; but Judas after taking that first piece from the Lord went out (John 13:30); it is noteworthy that it is not recorded anywhere that having taken that piece from the Lord, Judas ate it as well! After Judas had left, while they were eating the feast, the Lord got up and gave the Bread and the Cup as a representation of His Body and Blood to his remaining eleven disciples, and asked them to continue to do it in remembrance of Him (Matthew 26:26-28; Mark 14:22-25; Luke 22:19-20). In other words, Judas Iscariot, the representative of Satan, was present in the initial part of the celebration, and the Lord gave him another chance to repent, washed his feet, showed love to him, never exposed or humiliated him before others, and honored him by giving him the first piece of the meal, which traditionally was given to the most loved person. But Judas neither repented nor changed; he did not eat of the Passover feast, and was not present when the Lord initiated the Holy Communion through the Bread and the Cup as representations of His Body and Blood to be shed as a sacrifice for the remission of sins for mankind.

The facts related to the Lord’s Table, presents some very deep insights and teachings for our Christian Faith and lives. Neither the Lord Jesus, nor His disciples celebrated the Passover feast with their respective families, but celebrated it together with each other; the implication is that by coming into faith in the Lord Jesus and surrendering their lives to Him, now the Lord and the other disciples or Believers were their “family”, which is an affirmation of John 1:12-13 - of the Believers becoming members of God’s family as His Born-Again children, and of Ephesians 2:19 - as members of the Lord’s Church being the family of God. We also learn that the Lord’s Table, His Holy Communion, is only for the true and committed Christian Believers, it is not a ritual to be observed for common and general use by everyone. The Lord only invited His disciples, not His casual or general followers, to participate in the Communion, and established the Holy Communion after Satan’s representative had left their company. No doubt, those who participated in the Communion were not perfect - shortly afterwards they all deserted the Lord and ran away, and Peter even denied the Lord three times. But after His resurrection, the Lord gathered these same disciples, strengthened and established them in faith, got the first Church going through them, sent them out into the world with His gospel of salvation, through them gave to the world the understanding of His Church, and had local churches established all over the world.

We will consider some other important facts and teachings related to the Lord’s Table, the Holy Communion, in the next article. But if you are a Christian Believer, then to keep you firm and established in the Faith, and make you effective and useful for the Lord, Lord’s Holy Communion has a very important role to play. Also bear in mind that this participation is not a ritual or a tradition; it is not that by participating in it you become righteous in God’s eyes. Rather, by participating in an unworthy manner, the person comes under God’s judgement and punishment. Therefore, before participating in the Holy Communion, it is very necessary to understand its true meaning and teachings, and then participate in a worthy manner to gain its blessings; else participating unworthily will be very detrimental.

If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord Jesus, then take a decision in its favor now to secure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. The Lord's security and blessings are present where there is obedience of the Lord, where His Word is honored and followed. If you are still not Born Again, have not obtained salvation, or have not asked the Lord Jesus for forgiveness for your sins, then you have the time and opportunity to do so right now. Ask the Lord Jesus to forgive your sins, and voluntarily and sincerely surrender yourselves into His hands - this is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. All you have to do is say a short prayer, voluntarily and with a sincere heart, with heartfelt repentance for your sins, and a fully submissive attitude. You can do this in this manner, “Lord Jesus, I confess that I have disobeyed You, and have knowingly or unknowingly, in mind, in thought, in attitude, and in deeds, committed sins. I believe that you have fully borne the punishment of my sins by your sacrifice on the cross, and have paid the full price of those sins for all eternity. Please forgive my sins, change my heart and mind towards you, and make me your disciple, take me with you." God longs for your company and wants to see you blessed, but to make this possible, is your personal decision. One prayer said with a sincere and surrendered heart will turn your present and future, your life here on earth and in the next world, forever and make you heavenly and blessed. Will you not say this prayer now, while you have the time and opportunity to do so? The decision is yours.
