परमेश्वर के वचन से उचित व्यवहार – 20
हम पौलुस के जीवन और उदाहरण से परमेश्वर के वचन के उपयोग और उसके प्रति व्यवहार के बारे में देखते आ रहे हैं। पिछले लेख से हमने 2 कुरिन्थियों 4:2 को देखना आरम्भ किया था, जहाँ पर पौलुस वचन की अपनी सेवकाई के उद्देश्य, तथा तीन गुणों, जिन्हें हम आने वाले लेखों में देखेंगे, के बारे में लिखता है। जैसा कि पौलुस ने इस पद में लिखा है, उसकी सेवकाई का उद्देश्य था सत्य को प्रगट करना और हर एक मनुष्य के विवेक में अपनी भलाई को बैठाना, इस एहसास के साथ कि परमेश्वर हमेशा ही उस पर और उसकी सेवकाई पर ध्यानपूर्वक दृष्टि बनाए रखता है। इसके बारे में हमने पिछले लेख में देखा था कि पौलुस सत्य को प्रगट करने के लिए किन बातों का ध्यान रखता था, और कैसे करता था। आज हम उसके कथन “परमेश्वर के सामने हर एक मनुष्य के विवेक में अपनी भलाई बैठाते हैं” के बारे में देखेंगे।
हम परमेश्वर के वचन बाइबल से देखते हैं कि प्रभु यीशु में विश्वास में आने के बाद से, पौलुस एक नम्रता का जीवन जीता था, सेवकाई के लिए सब कुछ सहने के लिए तैयार था (प्रेरितों 20:19; 1 कुरिन्थियों 4:10-13; 2 कुरिन्थियों 11:23-27), और परमेश्वर की सेवा पवित्रता, धार्मिकता, और निर्दोष रहते हुए करने का प्रयास करता था (1 थिस्सलुनीकियों 2:10)। उसे कलीसिया की बहुत चिन्ता रहती थी (2 कुरिन्थियों 11:28-29; कुलुस्सियों 2:1-2)। उसका प्रयास रहता था कि वह कभी भी, किसी के भी प्रभु में विश्वास लाने में, या किसी के भी विश्वास में बढ़ने और परिपक्व होने में किसी प्रकार की बाधा या ठोकर का कारण न बने। और इसके लिए, यदि उसके कुछ प्रकार के भोजन खाने से किसी को ठोकर लगती थी, तो वह उन भोजन वस्तुओं को भी छोड़ने के लिए तैयार था (1 कुरिन्थियों 8:13)। यद्यपि परमेश्वर ने उसे यह इच्छा रखने की स्वतंत्रता प्रदान की थी कि यदि वह चाहे तो सँसार से कूच कर के उसके पास स्वर्ग चला आए, लेकिन फिर भी वह पृथ्वी पर ही बना रहा, जिससे कि उसकी सेवकाई से औरों का भला हो सके (फिलिप्पियों 1:21-25)।
पौलुस ने न तो कभी साँसारिक वस्तुओं का लालच किया, और न ही कभी उन वस्तुओं को प्राप्त करने के लिए कार्य किया (प्रेरितों 20:33)। पौलुस को न ही कोई ओहदा अथवा स्तर चाहिए था, और न ही वह कलीसिया में किसी प्रकार का कोई गुट बनाने या समूहों में विभाजित करने को कोई भी प्रोत्साहन देता था (1 कुरिन्थियों 3:3-5; 1 थिस्सलुनीकियों 1:6)। अपनी सेवकाई को करते हुए, पौलुस साथ ही अपने जीवन यापन के लिए भी काम करता रहता था, अपनी आवश्यकताओं के लिए किसी पर निर्भर नहीं रहता था, बल्कि अपनी कमाई से औरों की सहायता किया करता था (प्रेरितों 20:34; 1 कुरिन्थियों 4:12; 1 थिस्सलुनीकियों 2:9)। कलीसिया में सेवकाई के कारण जो उसे मिलना चाहिए था, उसने उसकी भी किसी से भी कभी कोई माँग नहीं की (1 कुरिन्थियों 9:14-15)। इसीलिए, अपने जीवन के अन्त-समय में आकर वह निःसंकोच कह सका, “मैं अच्छी कुश्ती लड़ चुका हूं मैं ने अपनी दौड़ पूरी कर ली है, मैं ने विश्वास की रखवाली की है। भविष्य में मेरे लिये धर्म का वह मुकुट रखा हुआ है, जिसे प्रभु, जो धर्मी, और न्यायी है, मुझे उस दिन देगा और मुझे ही नहीं, वरन उन सब को भी, जो उसके प्रगट होने को प्रिय जानते हैं” (2 तीमुथियुस 4:7-8)। इस प्रकार से हम पौलुस के जीवन से यह समझ सकते हैं कि वह अपने आप को हर एक मनुष्य के विवेक में अपनी भलाई के लिए कैसे बैठाता था; अर्थात, उसने अपने जीवन अथवा सेवकाई की आलोचना करने और नीचा दिखाने का किसी को भी, कभी भी, कोई भी वैध और सार्थक कारण नहीं दिया।
उल्लेखनीय बात यह है कि पौलुस ने कभी अपने लाभ के लिये लोगों को प्रसन्न करने या रखने के प्रयास नहीं किये। पौलुस का प्रयास हमेशा ही यही रहता था कि अपनी सेवकाई के द्वारा वह मनुष्यों को नहीं, बल्कि परमेश्वर को प्रसन्न करने वाला बने (गलातियों 1:10)। हमारे आज के पद में भी, उसका यही अभिप्राय दिखता है, जिसे वह कुछ भिन्न शब्दों में “परमेश्वर के सामने” कह कर व्यक्त करता है। यह वर्तमान समय की कलीसिया के सदस्यों, प्रमुख लोगों, और अगुवों की प्रवृत्ति से कितना भिन्न है। आज लोग न केवल कलीसिया के अन्दर के कुछ अन्य मनुष्यों को, या कलीसिया के अन्दर के गुटों के अगुवों को, बल्कि साँसारिक लोगों को भी प्रसन्न करना चाहते हैं। आज कलीसियाओं के लोग, अगुवे, और प्राचीन भी, सर्वशक्तिमान परमेश्वर को एक ओर करके, साँसारिक अधिकारियों और समाज पर प्रभाव रखने वालों को प्रसन्न रखना चाहते हैं। वे इस गलतफहमी में उन साँसारिक लोगों प्रसन्न करना और उनकी कृपा-दृष्टि को अपने पर बनाए रखना चाहते हैं कि, आवश्यकता के समय में वे साँसारिक लोग ही उनकी सहायता करेंगे, उन्हें बचाएँगे; परन्तु परमेश्वर ने वास्तविकता नीतिवचन 1:24-33 में पहले से दे दी है।
वर्तमान की इस तुलना में हम यहाँ पर पौलुस के जीवन से देखते और सीखते हैं कि परमेश्वर को प्रथम स्थान पर रखने, और किसी मनुष्य को नहीं वरन केवल परमेश्वर को ही प्रसन्न करने वाला होने के द्वारा न केवल हमें परमेश्वर की सामर्थ्य, बुद्धि, सहायता मिलती है, साथ ही हमारी सेवकाई पर आशीष और उन्नति भी आती है। साथ ही हमारा जीवन भी पूर्णतः बदल जाता है, परमेश्वर को स्वीकार्य बन जाता है। तब हमारे जीवन न केवल औरों के लिए एक अनुसरणीय उदाहरण, वरन् सँसार के समक्ष परमेश्वर को महिमा देने वाला बन जाता है।
अगले लेख में हम पौलुस द्वारा 2 कुरिन्थियों 4:2 दिए गये पहले गुण “हम ने लज्जा के गुप्त कामों को त्याग दिया” के बारे में देखेंगे।
यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। स्वेच्छा से प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु, मैं अपने पापों के लिए पश्चातापी हूँ, उनके लिए आप से क्षमा माँगता हूँ। मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मुझे और मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

Appropriately Handling God’s Word – 20
We have been seeing from the life and example of Paul about utilizing and handling God’s Word. In the previous article we had started looking into 2 Corinthians 4:2, where Paul states the purpose of his ministry of the Word, and three characteristics, which we will consider in the coming articles. As Paul has stated in this verse, the purpose of his ministry was to manifest the truth, and to commend himself in the conscience of every person, knowing that he and his ministry were always under the watchful eye of God. Regarding this purpose, we have seen about the care Paul took and how he used to manifest the truth about God’s Word in the previous article. Today we will see about his statement, “commending ourselves to everyone’s conscience, in the sight of God.”
We see from God’s Word the Bible that since after coming to faith in the Lord Jesus, Paul lived a humble life, willing to suffer anything for the sake of his ministry (Acts 20:19; 1 Corinthians 4:10-13; 2 Corinthians 11:23-27), and serve God devoutly, justly, blamelessly (1 Thessalonians 2:10). He was very concerned about the Church (2 Corinthians 11:28-29; Colossians 2:1-2). His effort was to ensure that he never became an obstruction or a stumbling block to anyone either coming into faith in the Lord Jesus, or their growing and maturing in the faith. To this end he was even willing to forgo certain foods, if his eating them served as a stumbling block for others (1 Corinthians 8:13). Even though God had permitted him the desire to leave his earthly life and come up to be with Him, yet he still continued on earth, so that through his ministry others may be benefitted (Philippians 1:21-25).
Paul neither coveted, nor worked for any worldly possessions (Acts 20:33). Paul neither wanted any position or status, nor encouraged any groupism or factionalism in the Church (1 Corinthians 3:3-5; 1 Thessalonians 1:6). While carrying on his ministry, Paul also worked for his living, never being dependent on others to provide for his needs; rather, out of his earnings he would help others (Acts 20:34; 1 Corinthians 4:12; 1 Thessalonians 2:9). He did not even claim what was his due from the Church where he ministered (1 Corinthians 9:14-15). Therefore, at the end of his life he could confidently say, “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing” (2 Timothy 4:7-8). Thus, we can understand from Paul’s life how he commended himself to everyone’s conscience, i.e., he never gave anyone any valid and factual reason to criticize or demean him, his motives, or his ministry.
The remarkable thing is that Paul never went after trying to please men, or to keep them pleased, for his own benefit. Paul’s effort always was to please God and not men, through his ministry (Galatians 1:10). Here too, in today’s lead verse, he implies the same by saying it in different words that all his service was “in the sight of God.” This is so unlike the present-day tendency of the present day Church members, leaders, and Elders, to be men pleasers. Today people don't just want to please some people in the Church, or the leaders of the factions in the Church, but even the worldly people. Today, Church leaders, Elders, and members push the Almighty God to one side and strive to gain and maintain the favor of those in worldly authority and those influential in the society. They do this in the mistaken belief that it will be those worldly people who will help and save them in times of need; but God has already stated the reality in Proverbs 1:24-33.
In contrast to the prevalent tendency today, we see and learn here from Paul’s life that keeping God first, and serving with the sole intention of being a God-pleaser instead of being a man-pleaser, will not only gain us God’s strength, wisdom, favor, but will also bless and grow our ministry. Moreover, doing this will also radically change our life, making us acceptable to God. Then, not only will our lives become exemplary and worth emulating, but also will glorify God before the world.
In the next article we will consider the first characteristic Paul mentions in 2 Corinthians 4:2, i.e., “renounced the hidden things of shame.”
If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord, make your decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now to ensure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Repenting of your sins, and asking the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily and sincerely, surrendering yourself to Him - is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life. Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.
