मसीही जीवन के चार स्तम्भ - 4 - प्रार्थना (1) 

परमेश्वर के वचन से बढ़ोतरी की इस श्रृंखला के आरम्भ में हमने देखा था कि मसीही विश्वास के जीवन में उन्नति और कलीसियाओं की बढ़ोतरी के लिए मसीही विश्वासियों को व्यक्तिगत रीति से परमेश्वर के सम्पूर्ण वचन को जानना और उसमें दृढ़ता से स्थापित होना आवश्यक है। साथ ही हमने यह भी देखा था कि वचन में तीन प्रकार की शिक्षाएं हैं जो मसीही विश्वास की उन्नति और कलीसियाओं की बढ़ोतरी के साथ सम्बन्धित रही हैं। ये तीन प्रकार की शिक्षाएं हैं - पहली, सुसमाचार से सम्बन्धित; दूसरी मसीही विश्वास की आरम्भिक बातों (इब्रानियों 6:1-2) से सम्बन्धित; और तीसरी, व्यावहारिक मसीही जीवन से सम्बन्धित। हम इन तीन में से पहली दो बातों के बारे में देख चुके हैं, और तीसरी के बारे में देख रहे हैं। व्यावहारिक मसीही जीवन से सम्बन्धित बातों के लिए हमने देखा था कि प्रेरितों 2 और 15 अध्याय में ये बातें दी गई हैं। प्रेरितों 2 अध्याय में सात बातें दी गई हैं, जिनमें से पहली तीन, जो मसीही विश्वास में जुड़ने से सम्बन्धित हैं, पतरस द्वारा किए गए प्रचार के अन्त की ओर हैं। और अगली चार, जिनका पालन आरम्भिक मसीही विश्वासी लौलीन होकर किया करते थे, प्रेरितों 2:42 में दी गई हैं। प्रेरितों 2:42 की इन चार बातों को मसीही विश्वास के स्तम्भ भी कहा जाता है। हमने इन चार में से पहली तीन बातों को देखा है, और आज से चौथी बात, प्रार्थना करने के बारे में देखना आरम्भ करेंगे।

सामान्यतः प्रार्थना करने से यही तात्पर्य समझा जाता है कि यह परमेश्वर से कुछ माँगना या कुछ करने के लिए कहना है - अपने लिए, अथवा किसी और के लिए। लेकिन वास्तव में परमेश्वर से कुछ माँगना या कुछ करने के लिए कहना, प्रार्थना करने का एक छोटा भाग है। परमेश्वर से प्रार्थना करना, परमेश्वर से वार्तालाप करना है। यह वार्तालाप किसी भी बात के बारे में हो सकता है। जैसे छोटे बच्चे अपने माता-पिता से खुले दिल से, निःसंकोच अपने मन की बात करते हैं, अपनी आवश्यकताएं और इच्छाएं ही नहीं, वरन हर वह बात जो उनके मन में होती है, बताते हैं, उनसे उसके बारे में बात करते हैं; वैसे ही प्रार्थना करना, परमेश्वर के साथ ऐसे ही खुले दिल और मन से बात करना है; अपने मन की हर बात को परमेश्वर के साथ बाँटना है। प्रार्थना में परमेश्वर पिता के बच्चे उससे अपनी सारी चिन्ताएँ, आवश्यकताएँ, भावनाएं, इच्छाएं, डर, समस्याएं, आनन्द, अपेक्षाएं, योजनाएं, आदि - सभी बातें, अपने जीवन से सम्बन्धित हर बात को उसे बताते हैं, और उस सर्वसिद्ध, सर्वज्ञानी पिता परमेश्वर से उन बातों के बारे में मार्गदर्शन लेते हैं, पिता की इच्छा जानते हैं, पिता की इच्छा को पूरा करने के बारे में निर्देश प्राप्त करते हैं। प्रार्थना करना एक-तरफा वार्तालाप नहीं है, कि हम अपनी ही बात परमेश्वर को सुनाते रहें। वरन प्रार्थना में हम न केवल अपनी बात परमेश्वर से कहते हैं, बल्कि परमेश्वर से उसकी कही हुई बात को, उसके निर्देशों और मार्गदर्शन को भी सुनते हैं।

परमेश्वर की बात सुनने के लिए उसकी आवाज़ के प्रति संवेदनशील होना आवश्यक है। प्रभु यीशु ने यूहन्ना 10:2, 27 पदों में कहा कि प्रभु की भेड़ें उसका शब्द सुनती हैं, पहचानती हैं, और उसके पीछे-पीछे चलती हैं। अर्थात, प्रभु की आवाज़ को, प्रभु की भेड़ें ही सुन और समझ सकतीं हैं। प्रभु ने यह भी कहा कि उसकी अन्य भेड़ें भी हैं, जो अभी तो उसके झुण्ड में नहीं हैं, किन्तु प्रभु उन्हें भी लेकर आएगा; और तब वे भी, उसके झुण्ड की अन्य भेड़ों के समान ही, प्रभु की आवाज़ को सुनेंगी (यूहन्ना 10:16)। यह कहकर प्रभु ने भविष्य में उस पर विश्वास करने और उसके शिष्य बनने वालों के बारे में संकेत दिया। और साथ ही यह कहकर कि तब एक ही झुण्ड और एक ही चरवाहा होगा, यह भी बताया कि वे भावी शिष्य उसके वर्तमान शिष्यों से किसी प्रकार से भिन्न नहीं होंगे। प्रभु की इस बात से हम, अपने विषय, प्रार्थना से सम्बन्धित दो बातों को सीखते हैं। पहली बात, प्रार्थना में प्रभु की बात सुनने और समझने के लिए प्रभु की भेड़ होना, अर्थात उसके जन, उसके परिवार के लोग होना, अनिवार्य है; जो यूहन्ना 1:12-13 के पालन के द्वारा ही सम्भव है। दूसरी बात, प्रभु अपनी सभी भेड़ों से समान रीति से बात करता है, कोई भिन्नता नहीं करता है। उसकी सभी भेड़ें, उसकी आवाज़ को समान रूप से सुनने और समझने की क्षमता रखती हैं। इसलिए यह कहना कि प्रभु की आवाज़ सुनने और समझने के लिए, प्रभु का जन बनने, अर्थात उद्धार पाने के अतिरिक्त और भी कुछ करने की आवश्यकता है, गलत है, वचन से संगत नहीं है, और प्रभु की कही बात के विरुद्ध जाना है।

प्रभु चाहता है कि उसके लोग, उसके साथ हर बात के लिए, निरन्तर प्रार्थना में लगे रहें। इसका यह अर्थ नहीं है कि मसीही विश्वासियों को हर समय हाथ जोड़कर, घुटने टेक कर, आँखें बन्द करके प्रार्थना के भाव में ही बने रहना चाहिए। प्रभु ऐसा क्यों चाहता है, यह कैसे किया जा सकता है, और मसीही विश्वासियों के लिए यह करना क्यों आवश्यक है, हम इसके बारे में अगले लेख में देखेंगे।

    

यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु, मैं अपने पापों के लिए पश्चातापी हूँ, उनके लिए आप से क्षमा माँगता हूँ। मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मुझे और मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

Things Related to Christian Living – 59

The Four Pillars of Christian Living - 4 - Prayer (1)

At the beginning of this series on Growth Through God’s Word we had seen that for edification of Christian faith and growth of the churches, it is necessary for the Christian Believers to know all of God’s Word, and be firmly established in it. We had also seen that there are three kinds of teachings given in the Word that have been associated with edification of Christian faith and growth of the churches. These three kinds of teachings are - firstly, teachings related to the Gospel; secondly, teachings related to the Elementary Principles of Christian faith (Hebrews 6:1-2); and thirdly, teachings related to practical Christian living. Out of these three kinds of teachings, we have seen the first two, and are now considering the third kind, i.e., teachings related to practical Christian living. We have seen that in Acts chapters 2 and 15 some teachings related to practical Christian living have been given. Of these, in Acts 2, seven things are given. Of these seven the first three are related to coming into the Christian faith, and are found towards the end of Peter’s sermon. The next four are things that the initial Christian Believers used to do steadfastly, and are given in Acts 2:42. These four things of Acts 2:42 are also known as the “Four Pillars of Christian Living.” We have already considered the first three of the four, and from today we will begin considering the fourth one, i.e., praying.

Generally, by praying, it is commonly understood that it means asking God for something or to do something - for self, or for others. But in reality, asking God for something or to do something, is only a small part of praying. To pray to God, is to converse with God. This conversation can be about anything. Like little children talk to their parents with an open heart, without any hesitation share whatever they have on their hearts, speak it out to them; similarly, praying is having a similar open hearted unhesitant conversation with God. Prayer is nothing other than the children communing and conversing with their Father God; sharing with Him all their concerns, needs, feelings, desires, apprehensions, problems, joys, expectations, plans – anything and everything related to their lives, and seeking their absolutely perfect and all-knowing Heavenly Fathers guidance, will and instructions about everything. Prayer is not a monologue, a one-sided conversation, that only we keep telling God about our needs and wants. Rather, in prayer not only do we share our needs and wants with God, but also listen to God’s response, His guidance, and His instructions about what we have shared with Him.

To be able to listen to God, we have to be sensitive to God’s voice. The Lord has said in John 10:2, 27 that the Lord’s sheep listen to His voice, recognize it, and understand Him. The Lord also said that there were other sheep of His, that are not yet in the fold, and the Lord will be bringing them into the fold; and then they too will be like the other sheep already in the fold and similarly listen to the Lord’s voice (John 10:16). By saying this the Lord indicated about those who would come to faith in Him and become His disciples in the future. And, by saying that then there will be one-fold and one shepherd, He also told that those future disciples will be no different than the present ones. From this, we learn two important things about our present topic, prayer. The first thing is that to be able to listen and understand the Lord’s voice in prayer, one has to be His sheep, belong to Him, be a member of His family; and this is possible only by obeying John 1:12-13. The second thing is that the Lord converses with all His sheep in a uniform manner, He does not differentiate amongst them. And, all His sheep have the same capability of listening to Him and understanding Him. Therefore, to say that to be able to hear and understand the Lord’s voice requires something extra, something other than being saved is a wrong teaching, is inconsistent with God’s Word, and goes contrary to what the Lord has said.

The Lord wants His people to always be praying to Him for everything. This does not mean that the Christian Believers should always be in an attitude of prayer, on their knees, with folded hands and closed eyes. Why does God want this, and how this can be done, and why it is essential for the Christian Believers, we will see about this in the next article.

If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord, make your decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now to ensure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Repenting of your sins, and asking the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily and sincerely, surrendering yourself to Him - is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life.  Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.

पवित्र आत्मा के वरदानों का उपयोग – 3

 

    हमने पिछले लेखों में देखा है कि पवित्र आत्मा के वरदानों के भण्डारी होने के नाते, उन वरदानों का उचित उपयोग करने के लिए, प्रत्येक मसीही विश्वासी को पहले एक सही आत्मिक दृष्टिकोण विकसित करना आवश्यक है, जैसा कि परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा ने पौलुस में होकर रोमियों 12 अध्याय के पहले दो पदों में लिखवाया है।  इसका अर्थ है कि मसीही सेवकाई के लिए मसीही विश्वासी को न केवल परमेश्वर के प्रति पूर्णतः समर्पित, और आज्ञाकारी होना चाहिए, वरन, साथ ही पापों की क्षमा और उद्धार के द्वारा उसके जीवन में आए भीतरी परिवर्तन को उसके व्यावहारिक जीवन में भी प्रकट होना चाहिए। यह व्यावहारिक दिखाई देने वाला परिवर्तन ही उसके जीवन में उद्धार और पवित्र आत्मा के कार्य को प्रमाणित करता है; परमेश्वर के वचन बाइबल में इस बात का और कोई प्रमाण नहीं दिया गया है। सही मानसिकता और वास्तविक समर्पण तथा पूर्ण आज्ञाकारिता के बाद, पवित्र आत्मा की अगुवाई में पौलुस रोमियों 12:3 में, मसीही विश्वासी के लिए अनिवार्य अपने में एक और गुण बनाए रखने की बात कहता है - स्वयं का आँकलन करना। 

    इस विषय को विकसित करते हुए, पौलुस इस पद में यह स्पष्ट कर देता है कि यह सारी बात कहने का अधिकार उसे उसकी सेवकाई की नियुक्ति के द्वारा, परमेश्वर से मिला है। वह यहाँ पर कहता है, “क्योंकि मैं उस अनुग्रह के कारण जो मुझ को मिला है, तुम में से हर एक से कहता हूं...”; अर्थात, उसे यह अधिकार उसे परमेश्वर द्वारा प्रदान किए गए अनुग्रह से मिला है, कि यह बात अपने सभी पाठकों से कहे। पौलुस, 1 कुरिन्थियों 15:9-10 में, इस अनुग्रह और अधिकार के विषय में बताता है कि यह उसका परमेश्वर द्वारा प्रेरित नियुक्त करके सुसमाचार की सेवकाई के लिए ठहराया जाना है। इसीलिए हम देखते हैं कि वह इस अनुग्रह के बारे में न केवल यहाँ पर कहता है बल्कि इसकी पुष्टि वह रोमियों 1:1 और अपनी सभी पत्रियों के आरंभ में करता है। दूसरे शब्दों में, परमेश्वर के द्वारा उसे सौंपी गई सेवकाई का निर्वाह करने के लिए, यह उसका दायित्व था कि वह मसीही विश्वासियों को मसीही विश्वास और जीवन से संबंधित सही और उचित शिक्षाओं से अवगत करवाए; उन शिक्षाओं को जो परमेश्वर ने उसे औरों के लिए, उनके लाभ के लिए दी थीं। यह मसीही सेवकाई के लिए एक बहुत महत्वपूर्ण शिक्षा है, जिसका निर्वाह करना बहुत से लोगों को कठिन लगता है। आज प्रचारकों और उपदेशकों को लोगों से आकर्षक और लुभावनी व्यर्थ बातें कहने में, संदेश को रोचक बनाने के लिए उस में अपने ही विचार और बुद्धि की बातें डालने में कोई संकोच नहीं होता है; किन्तु खरी और सही शिक्षा देने में उन्हें संकोच होता है कि कहीं लोगों को बुरा न लग जाए (जो अन्त के दिनों का एक चिह्न है - 2 तिमुथियुस 4:1-5) - चाहे उनके सच्चाई न बताने के कारण परमेश्वर को कितना भी बुरा लगता रहे। हर मसीही सेवक को गलतियों 1:10 “यदि मैं अब तक मनुष्यों को ही प्रसन्न करता रहता, तो मसीह का दास न होता” हमेशा स्मरण रखना चाहिए, और उसके अनुसार अपनी सेवकाई का निर्वाह करना चाहिए; क्योंकि अन्ततः उसे भी प्रभु के सामने खड़े होकर अपना हिसाब देना होगा (2 कुरिन्थियों 5:10)।

    रोमियों 12:3 में कही गई अगली बात है कि यह शिक्षा “हर एक” के लिए है। यह केवल उनके लिए नहीं है जो प्रचार करने या शिक्षा देने, अथवा मण्डली की देख-भाल और संचालन के कार्य में लगे हैं। मसीही सेवकाई से संबंधित ये शिक्षाएं मण्डली के हर एक सदस्य, प्रत्येक मसीही विश्वासी के लिए हैं, क्योंकि परमेश्वर ने सभी के लिए कुछ भले कार्य निर्धारित किए हैं (इफिसियों 2:10), और परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा ने सभी की भलाई के लिए मण्डली के सभी सदस्यों को उनकी सेवकाई के अनुसार वरदान दे दिए हैं (1 कुरिन्थियों 12:7, 11)। इसलिए इस सेवकाई को सुचारु रीति से करना और वरदानों का सदुपयोग करना भी सभी मसीही विश्वासियों को आना चाहिए। इस कार्य के लिए, पद 1 और 2 के समर्पण, आज्ञाकारिता, और व्यावहारिक जीवन में प्रकट होने वाले भीतरी परिवर्तन के बाद, अगला कदम है अपने विषय सही आँकलन करना और सही दृष्टिकोण रखना। 

    एक स्वाभाविक मानवीय प्रवृत्ति है कि जब किसी को कोई विशेष ज़िम्मेदारी दी जाती है, तो उसमें इस बात को लेकर विशिष्ट होने का विचार भी आ जाता है, जिसे फिर शैतान उकसा कर, उसे स्वयं को औरों से उच्च समझने की मानसिकता और घमण्ड में परिवर्तित करके उस व्यक्ति को पाप में फंसा देता है, परमेश्वर की सेवकाई के लिए उसे अप्रभावी बना देता है। शैतान की इस युक्ति में फँसने से बचने के लिए प्रत्येक मसीही विश्वासी को पौलुस के समान “परन्तु मैं जो कुछ भी हूं, परमेश्वर के अनुग्रह से हूं: और उसका अनुग्रह जो मुझ पर हुआ, वह व्यर्थ नहीं हुआ परन्तु मैं ने उन सब से बढ़कर परिश्रम भी किया: तौभी यह मेरी ओर से नहीं हुआ परन्तु परमेश्वर के अनुग्रह से जो मुझ पर था” (1 कुरिन्थियों 15:10) की मानसिकता के साथ कार्य करना चाहिए। अर्थात, अपने मसीही विश्वासी होने को, या अपने प्रभु के लिए किसी रीति से और किसी कार्य के लिए उपयोगी होने को, अपनी किसी योग्यता अथवा गुण के कारण न समझे, वरन, केवल और केवल परमेश्वर के अनुग्रह में उसे दी गई ऐसी ज़िम्मेदारी, जिसे उसे परमेश्वर की इच्छा के अनुसार, उसी के दिए वरदान के द्वारा निभाना है, समझे।

    पौलुस इस बात को और स्पष्ट करते हुए कहता है कि जैसा और जितना परमेश्वर ने बनाया और दिया है, उस से बढ़कर कोई अपने आप को न समझे। इसके लिए प्रत्येक मसीही विश्वासी को “सुबुद्धि” के साथ अपने आप को जाँचने, अपना आँकलन करने वाला होना चाहिए। औरों को जाँचना, उनकी आलोचना करना, औरों के स्तर का आँकलन करना तथा लोगों के सामने औरों के बारे में अपने आँकलन का बयान करना तो बहुत सहज होता है। किन्तु इसी माप-दण्ड को अपने ऊपर लागू करके, इसी के अनुसार अपना सही आँकलन करना बहुत कठिन होता है। और इससे भी कठिन होता है खराई से यह स्व-आँकलन करने के पश्चात, परमेश्वर के समक्ष उसका अंगीकार करके, अपने आप को उसके अनुसार सुधारना, या सुधारे जाने के लिए अपने आप को परमेश्वर के हाथों में सौंप देना। परमेश्वर का वचन हमें दोनों ही बातों की शिक्षा और उदाहरण प्रदान करता है। पवित्र आत्मा की अगुवाई में पौलुस 1 कुरिन्थियों 11:27-32 में बलपूर्वक यह निर्देश देता है कि प्रत्येक मसीही विश्वासी को, प्रभु की मेज़ में भाग लेने से पहले, अपने आप को जाँच लेना चाहिए। जो ऐसा करता है, वह फिर न केवल परमेश्वर से दण्ड पाने से बच जाता है, वरन उसकी आशीषों का संभागी हो जाता है। इसी प्रकार से स्व-आँकलन का एक लिखित प्रमाण दाऊद द्वारा लिखा गया भजन 51 है, जो उसने बतशेबा तथा उसके पति ऊरिय्याह के साथ किए गए पाप के लिए नातान द्वारा उसे बताए जाने के बाद लिखा था। इस भजन में दाऊद न केवल अपने पाप का अंगीकार कर रहा है, वरन अपने आप को शुद्धि के लिए परमेश्वर के हाथों में भी छोड़ दे रहा है।  खराई से अपने स्व-आँकलन करने, पाप मान लेने, और अपने आप को परमेश्वर के हाथों में छोड़ देने की इसी प्रवृत्ति के कारण दाऊद को बाइबल में “परमेश्वर के मन के अनुसार” (प्रेरितों 13:22) व्यक्ति कहा गया है।

    यदि आप एक मसीही विश्वासी हैं, तो यह स्व-आँकलन करने की व्यावहारिक मानसिकता आप के लिए भी अनिवार्य है, ताकि आप योग्य रीति से अपनी सेवकाई पूरी कर सकें। परमेश्वर किसी में विद्यमान किसी भी घमण्ड के साथ कार्य नहीं कर सकता है। आप परमेश्वर के लिए तब ही उपयोगी होंगे, आप परमेश्वर से तब ही आशीषें प्राप्त करेंगे, जब आप अपने अंदर झांक कर, अपने मन की वास्तविक स्थिति को परमेश्वर के सामने मान लेने वाले और उसके सुधार के लिए उसके हाथों में अपने आप को छोड़ देने वाले बनेंगे। वह आपकी वास्तविकता आप से पहले, आप से अधिक गहराई से, और आप से बेहतर जानता है (1 इतिहास 28:9)। किन्तु वह चाहता है कि आप भी अपनी वास्तविकता को जानें और मानें, जिससे वह आपको अपनी सामर्थ्य से परिपूर्ण करके अपने लिए उपयोगी, अपनी मण्डली के लिए उन्नति का कारण, स्वयं आपके लिए आशीषें अर्जित करने वाला बना सके।

Utilizing the Gifts of the Holy Spirit – 3

 

    We have seen in the preceding articles that as stewards of the gifts of the Holy Spirit, to properly utilize the gifts, every Christian Believer should first develop a proper spiritual attitude, as God the Holy Spirit, through Paul, has got written in the first two verses of Romans 12. This means that for Christian Ministry a Christian Believer not only has to be fully surrendered and obedient to God, but also, the transformation that has occurred within him because of receiving forgiveness of sins and salvation, should be practically, externally evident, through his behavior and daily living. This practically evident change in behavior and life is the only proof that affirms the salvation of the person and of the Holy Spirit residing in him; in God’s Word, the Bible, no other proof has been stated for this. The next step after developing the correct attitude, actual full surrender, and complete obedience to God, is maintaining another essential characteristic of a Christian Believer, which Paul through the guidance of the Holy Spirit states in Romans 12:3 – self-assessment.

    As he develops this theme, Paul makes it clear in this verse that the authority to say all this has been given to him by God, at the time of his being appointed for his ministry. Paul says here that, “For I say, through the grace given to me, to everyone who is among you...;” i.e., he has derived this authority from the grace God has bestowed upon him, to say this to every one of his readers. Paul speaks of this grace and authority in 1 Corinthians 15:9-10, that it is his being appointed an Apostle and given the ministry of preaching the gospel. That is why we see that he speaks about this grace that he has received not only here but affirms this in Romans 1:1 and at the beginning of all his letters. In other words, to fulfil his God given ministry, it was his responsibility to teach and remind the Christian Believers about the correct and appropriate teachings for their Christian Faith and life; the teachings that God would give him to pass on for the benefit of others. This is a very important lesson for fulfilling one’s Christian Ministry, a lesson many people find very difficult to live by. Today the preachers and teachers have no hesitation in vainly speaking of attractive and pleasing things to the people and adding their own thoughts and wisdom to make the message interesting. But they are very reluctant to dispense God’s true and correct doctrines and teachings forthrightly, lest people feel bad about it, and do not like them for doing so (and this is a sign of the end times - 2 Timothy 4:1-5); no matter how bad God may feel about their doing this. Every Christian minister should always bear in mind Galatians 1:10, “For do I now persuade men, or God? Or do I seek to please men? For if I still pleased men, I would not be a bondservant of Christ” and fulfil his ministry accordingly; because eventually even he will be standing before God to give his account (2 Corinthians 5:10).

    The next thing Paul says in Romans 12:3 is that his teaching is addressed “to everyone.” It was not meant to be only for those engaged in preaching and teaching in the Church, or for those who were involved in the care and managing of the Church. The teachings about the Christian Ministry are meant for every member of the Church, for every Christian Believer, because God has determined some good work or the other for every one (Ephesian 2:10); and God the Holy Spirit has given the Spiritual gifts according to that work, for the benefit of everyone (1 Corinthians 12:7, 11). Therefore, every Christian Believer should learn and know how to properly carry out this ministry and worthily utilize the Spiritual gifts given to them. For this, after the consecration, surrender, and obedience to God and the evident change in behavior and life in practical living, given in verses 1 and 2, the next step is a correct self-assessment and maintaining a correct perspective.

    This is a natural human tendency that whenever anyone is given a special responsibility, then usually he starts feeling being someone special because of it. Once this happens, Satan provokes him to start thinking of himself as superior to others about it, leads him into having an attitude of pride, thereby making him fall into sin, and renders his service for the Lord God ineffective and infructuous. To avoid falling into this satanic trap, every Christian Believer, like Paul should live and work with the attitude “But by the grace of God I am what I am, and His grace toward me was not in vain; but I labored more abundantly than they all, yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me” (1 Corinthians 15:10). That is to say that one should never consider his being a Christian Believer, his being of use for the Lord in any ministry and service in any manner, as something due to his own ability and worth, but only and only because of the grace of the Lord towards him; that in His mercy and grace God has given him a responsibility and its related gift to utilize it according to God’s will, for God’s glory, not his own.

    Paul then carries on in this verse to state this even more clearly that as God has made and given to everyone, no one should consider himself over and above that. That is why every Christian Believer should “think soberly” and assess himself. It is very easy to examine others, criticize them, to speak of what they think of another’s status, and to inform others about their assessment of the other person. But to honestly apply the same standards and truly measure oneself accordingly is very difficult. Even more difficult, after an honest self-assessment, is to accept one’s shortcomings before God, to correct one’s life, and after implementing the necessary corrections, to fully surrender himself into the hands of God. The Word of God teaches and provides examples for this, for us to emulate. Under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, Paul in 1 Corinthians 11:27-32 emphatically states that before partaking in the Lord’s Table, every Christian Believer should examine himself. Everyone who does this, not only remains safe from being judged by the Lord, but also becomes a partaker of His blessings. Another example of an honest self-assessment and its results is Psalm 51, written by David after Nathan made him aware of his sin with Bathsheba and her husband Uriah. In this Psalm, not only is David acknowledging his sin, but is also handing himself over to God to be purified from the sin. Because of his tendency of honestly self-assessing himself, acknowledging his sin, and placing himself in the hands of God for his purification, David has been called a “man after God’s own heart” (Acts 13:22) in the Bible.

    If you are a Christian Believer, then this practical tendency of engaging in self-assessment is essential for you as well, to worthily carry out your ministry. God cannot work with any pride, that may be present in any person. You will be useful for the Lord God and will receive blessings from Him only when you start looking within yourself and start exposing the actual state of your heart and mind before God, and hand yourself over into God’s hands to be corrected by Him. God knows your true condition, the actual state of your heart, of your thinking (1 Chronicles 28:9), beforehand and even better than you. But He desires that you too learn and acknowledge your factual condition, so that He can fill you with His power and make you useful for Him, a cause for the edification of His Church, and one who receives the abundant blessings of God.

    If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord, make your decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now to ensure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Repenting of your sins, and asking the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily and sincerely, surrendering yourself to Him - is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life.  Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.

    पिछले लेख से हमने व्यवस्था के रीति और परंपरा के औपचारिक निर्वाह से होने वाले दुष्प्रभावों को देखना आरम्भ किया है। पिछले लेख में हमने देखा था कि इस प्रकार से व्यवस्था का पालन करने से व्यक्ति को कोई आत्मिक लाभ नहीं होता है; उसके अन्दर का खालीपन ही उसे इसके लिए परेशान करता है। आज हम दो अन्य उदाहरणों से इस प्रकार के व्यर्थ निर्वाह के बारे में देखेंगे।

यहूदियों का एक प्रधान धर्म-गुरु, फरीसियों का सरदार, निकुदेमुस भी रात के समय प्रभु यीशु के पास मन में कुछ प्रश्न लिए हुए आया था (यूहन्ना 3:1-21)। वह अभी प्रभु से बात करने के लिए भूमिका बांध ही रहा था (पद 2) कि प्रभु ने उसके मन की बात के अनुसार उसे उत्तर भी दे दिया (पद 3) – कि, परमेश्वर का राज्य देखने के लिए उसे नया जन्म लेना अनिवार्य था। उसके धर्म-ज्ञान, समाज में उसके धार्मिक ओहदे ओर इज़्ज़त ने उसे परमेश्वर की दृष्टि में स्वीकार्य नहीं बनाया था। निकुदेमुस फिर तर्क देने का प्रयास करता है (पद 4) और प्रभु फिर उसकी बात काटकर एक बार फिर स्वर्ग के राज्य में उसके प्रवेश के लिए नया जन्म लेने की अनिवार्यता को कह देता है (पद 5), और फिर उसे शरीर और आत्मा से जन्मे व्यक्तियों में भिन्नता के चिह्न बताता है (पद 6-8)। तात्पर्य स्पष्ट है, कि उसके सारे धर्म-ज्ञान और ओहदे के बावजूद, वह अभी तक परमेश्वर के साथ सही संबंध में नहीं आया था। उसके मन में अभी भी संदेह था कि यह कैसे हो सकता है (पद 9)। वह इन बातों को जानता था, किन्तु इनका पालन नहीं करता था, जैसा कि प्रभु ने उसे उलाहना देते हुए पद 10 में कुछ बहुत महत्वपूर्ण कहा। पद 10 में, ध्यान कीजिए प्रभु ने यह नहीं कहा कि “क्या तू इन बातों को नहीं जानता है?” वरन कहा, “... तू इस्राएलियों का गुरु हो कर भी क्या इन बातों को नहीं समझता?” अर्थात, वह इन बातों को जानता था, किन्तु समझता नहीं था, इसीलिए पालन भी नहीं करता था। धर्म-गुरु होने के नाते, वह लोगों को परमेश्वर की बातें बताता और सिखाता था, किन्तु उसके अपने जीवन में बेचैनी थी, क्योंकि वह धर्म की औपचारिकता तो निभा रहा था, किन्तु परमेश्वर के साथ सही संबंधों में नहीं आया था, जिनके बारे में प्रभु उसे पद 11-21 में बताता है। इसके लिए उसे परमेश्वर के प्रति पश्चाताप और समर्पण की आवश्यकता थी; और प्रभु उसे यही दिखा रहा था। 

पौलुस जो पहले शाऊल के नाम से जाना जाता था, वह भी एक बहुत ज्ञानवान और परमेश्वर के लिए बहुत उत्साह रखने वाला फरीसी था। उसकी दृष्टि में जो भी परमेश्वर के विरुद्ध था, उसे वह सहन नहीं कर सकता था, उन्हें पकड़ कर दण्ड देने में वह बहुत सक्रिय रहता था (प्रेरितों 8:3; 9:1)। उसका यह व्यवहार, परमेश्वर के वचन और व्यवस्था के बारे में उसे मिली शिक्षा और समझ के द्वारा था। लेकिन प्रभु यीशु मसीह से साक्षात्कार और वार्तालाप होने के बाद (प्रेरितों 9:3-9) उसके जीवन और दृष्टिकोण में जो आधार-भूत परिवर्तन आया, उससे उसने व्यवस्था पालन की अपनी समझ की व्यर्थता और अपने महत्वहीन उत्साह को पहचाना, और तुरन्त उन्हें छोड़ दिया। उसने तुरंत ही परमेश्वर के साथ अपने संबंध ठीक किए, और परिणामस्वरूप मनुष्यों के साथ भी उसके संबंध और व्यवहार सही हो गया। फिलिप्पी की मसीही मण्डली को लिखी अपनी पत्री में, वह अपने पुराने व्यवहार की बातों को, जिन पर वह पहले बहुत घमण्ड करता था, अब हानि की बातें और कूड़ा कहता है, और उनके स्थान पर प्रभु यीशु की समानता में बढ़ने को ही प्राथमिकता देता है (फिलिप्पियों 3:7-11)। उद्धार से पहले का पौलुस का जीवन और उस समय के अन्य फरीसियों का जीवन दिखता है कि व्यवस्था के औपचारिक पालन ने उन्हें इतना अँधा बना दिया था कि जब प्रभु यीशु, जिसके बारे में व्यवस्था और सम्पूर्ण पुराना नियम बात करता है (लूका 24:25-27; यूहन्ना 5:39), साक्षात उनके सामने आ कर खड़ा हुआ, अपने जीवन, शिक्षाओं और कार्यों द्वारा अपनी वास्तविकता को उन्हें दिखाया, फिर भी वे प्रभु को पहचान नहीं सके, उसे स्वीकार नहीं कर सके। वरन, अपनी गढ़ी हुई धार्मिकता और भक्ति के निर्वाह के लिए उस प्रभु को ही मरवा दिया जिसकी भक्ति का वे दम भरते थे।

वचन के ये तीनों उदाहरण दिखाते हैं कि जो शैतान के ‘धर्म के निर्वाह’ (2 कुरिन्थियों 11:13-15) के चंगुल में फंसकर, शैतान के भ्रम, युक्तियों, और कुटिलता के द्वारा “व्यवस्था” का गलत अर्थ रखते हैं, और अनुचित मनसा से उसका पालन करते हैं, उनके लिए शैतान उसी व्यवस्था से बेचैनी और अशान्ति ही उत्पन्न करता है, उन्हें आत्मिक रीति से अन्‍धा तथा परमेश्वर के वचन को समझ नहीं सकने वाला बना देता है, उन्हें अपनी ही गढ़ी हुई धार्मिकता के जाल में फंसा देता है; और उन्हें इसका एहसास हुए बिना, उन्हें परमेश्वर के विरुद्ध कर देता है। उनके शैतान के चंगुल में फँसे होने का एक प्रमुख चिह्न है कि उन्हें व्यक्तिगत रीति से परमेश्वर की निकटता में होने और उसकी शांति (यूहन्ना 14:27; 16:33) उनके साथ उन्हें उपलब्ध होने का एहसास नहीं। लेकिन जैसे ही व्यक्ति पश्चाताप और पाप क्षमा, अर्थात नया जन्म होने के द्वारा परमेश्वर के साथ सही संबंध में आता है, स्वतः ही उसका दृष्टिकोण भी बदल जाता है, और मनुष्यों के साथ उसके संबंध भी सुधरने जाते हैं। उसका बदला हुआ जीवन इस बात की गवाही देता है कि वह अब जीवन – अनन्त जीवन में प्रवेश कर गया है। यदि निकुदेमुस और पौलुस जैसे धर्म के ज्ञानियों को पश्चाताप करने और पापों की क्षमा पाना, नया जन्म प्राप्त करना अनिवार्य था, तो हमारे लिए यह कितना अधिक आवश्यक और अनिवार्य है, आप स्वयं समझ सकते हैं। 

    अगले लेख में हम व्यवस्था की उपयोगिता के बारे में देखेंगे। अभी के लिए, यदि आप मसीही हैं, और अपने आप को किसी भी प्रकार की “व्यवस्था” - वह चाहे परमेश्वर की हो, या आपके धर्म, मत, समुदाय, या डिनॉमिनेशन की हो - के पालन के द्वारा धर्मी बनाने के, और अपने शरीर के कार्यों अथवा अपने धर्म के पालन के द्वारा अपने आप को परमेश्वर को स्वीकार्य बनाने के प्रयासों में लगे हैं; तो ध्यान देकर समझ लीजिए कि परमेश्वर का वचन स्पष्ट बताता है कि व्यवस्था अथवा धर्म के पालन के द्वारा नहीं, वरन, परमेश्वर के दिए हुए पश्चाताप और समर्पण करने के मार्ग का पालन करने के द्वारा ही आप परमेश्वर की दृष्टि में धर्मी और उसे स्वीकार्य बन सकते हैं। अभी समय और अवसर रहते सही मार्ग अपना लें, और व्यर्थ तथा निष्फल मार्ग को छोड़ दें।

Harmful Effects of Formal Observation of the Law – 2

 

    From the previous article we have started to consider the harmful effects of the formal observance of the Law as mere rituals and traditions. We had seen in the previous article that this kind of observance provides no spiritual benefits to a person; the emptiness in him troubles him about this. Today we will see further about such vain observance, from two more examples.

    Nicodemus, a very senior religious official of the Jews, the ruler of the Pharisees, came to the Lord Jesus during the night with some questions in his mind (John 3:1-21). He was just preparing the grounds to tell his troubling thoughts to the Lord (verse 2) when the Lord interjected and gave him the answer to what was troubling his mind - whether or not he would enter the Kingdom of God (verse 3) - the Lord told him point-blank, that he had to be Born Again to even see the kingdom of God. Neither his religious knowledge, nor his religious status and prestige in the society had made him acceptable to God. Nicodemus tries to reason again (v. 4) and the Lord again cuts him off and again pointedly says that he must be Born Again for him to enter into the kingdom of heaven (v. 5). And from here onwards the Lord tells him how to identify those born naturally and those Born Again by the Spirit of God (verses 6-8). The implication is clear, that despite all his theology and religious status, he had not yet come into a proper relationship with God, and he felt within himself the restlessness of lacking this right relationship with God. But he still had doubts about how this could happen (verse 9). Though he knew these things, but did not obey them, as is clear from the Lord’s rebuke for him (verse 10). In verse 10, the Lord says something very important to him; notice that the Lord did not say, "Don't you know these things?" But he said, "... you, being the teacher of the Israelites, do you not understand these things?" That is, though he knew these things, but he did not understand their practical application, that is why he did not fulfil them. As a religious leader, he used to speak of and teach the things of God to the people. But, while he was engaged in performing the formalities of religion, there was deep restlessness in his own life. Since his formal engagement in fulfilling the obligations of his religion had not brought him into the right relationship with God. To come into this right and satisfying relationship, he needed to be Born Again, i.e., to repent of his sins and submit himself fully to God. And this is what the Lord was showing and explaining to him in verse 11-21.

    Paul, formerly known as Saul, was also a very knowledgeable Pharisee and was very zealous for God. He could not bear anything against God, as per his own understanding, and he was very active in capturing and punishing those whom he thought were going contrary to God’s Law (Acts 8:3; 9:1). His behavior was based upon the teachings he received and the understanding about God's Word and Law he had developed. But his vision of the Lord Jesus Christ and conversation with Him on the road to Damascus brought about a fundamental change in his life and outlook (Acts 9:3-9); it made him recognize the futility of his own understanding of keeping the Law, and he immediately let go of his vain understanding and worthless zeal. He immediately corrected his relationship with God, and consequently his relationship, behavior, and attitude towards fellow human beings also got corrected. In his letter to the Christians in Philippi, he refers to these old attitudes, which he once was proud of, but now speaks of them disparagingly, calling them harmful and rubbish, preferring instead to grow in the likeness of the Lord Jesus. (Philippians 3:7-11). The life of Paul before he was Born Again, and that of the other Pharisees of that time shows that the formal, ritualistic observance of the Law had so blinded them that when the Lord Jesus, about whom the Law and the whole of the Old Testament testified (Luke 24:25-27; John 5:39), came before them in person, and through His life, teachings, and works showed to them who He really was, they still could not recognize or accept Him. Instead, for the sake of their contrived religiosity and reverence, and for living by it, they had the Lord, whom they professed to revere, killed.

    These three examples of Scripture show that for those who remain entrapped in Satan’s deception, devices, and devious machinations of being ‘religious’, or, ‘following their religion’ (2 Corinthians 11:13-15), he makes them misinterpret and misunderstand the "Law," and follow it inappropriately; for them that Law only creates restlessness and lack of peace in their lives; makes them spiritually blind and unable to understand God’s Word; he traps them in their own contrived reverence and religiosity; and without their realizing it, he turns them into being contrary to God. One major sign about their being entrapped by Satan is that they do not have a sense of personally being in close proximity to God and of having His peace in their lives (John 14:27; 16:33). But as soon as a person comes into the right relationship with God through repentance and seeking forgiveness of his sins, i.e., is Born Again, automatically his outlook also changes, and his relationship with fellow humans also changes, and improves. His changed life bears open and clear testimony to the fact that he has now entered life - the eternal life promised by God. If for religious scholars and leaders like Nicodemus and Paul it was mandatory to repent and seek forgiveness of sins, and be Born Again, then you can see for yourself how necessary and imperative it is for us as well.

    In the next article, we will look at the utility of the Law.  For now, if you are a Christian, and are hoping to justify yourself by observing any sort of "law" — whether that of God, or of your religion, creed, community, or denomination — and are trying to make yourself acceptable to God by being ‘good’ through the works of the flesh and religion; then pay heed and understand that God's Word clearly states that you become righteous and acceptable to God, not by keeping the Law or any religion, but only by following the God given path of repentance and submission to the Lord. Therefore, while you have the time and the opportunity, take the right decision, decide on the right path, and leave the useless and fruitless path.

    If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord, make your decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now to ensure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Repenting of your sins, and asking the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily and sincerely, surrendering yourself to Him - is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life.  Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.

क्या व्यवस्था जीवन दे सकती है? – 1

 

    व्यवस्था और उद्धार से संबंधित बातों को देखने, और यह समझने के बाद कि क्यों व्यवस्था मनुष्यों को उद्धार नहीं दे सकती है, अभी हमारे सामने कुछ महत्वपूर्ण प्रश्न शेष हैं। पहला है कि यदि उद्धार व्यवस्था के पालन से नहीं है, तो फिर पुराने और नए नियम में व्यवस्था द्वारा जीवन मिलने की बात क्यों कही गई? और दूसरा है तो फिर व्यवस्था के दिए जाने का क्या उद्देश्य है? और तीसरा प्रश्न है कि आज हम मसीही विश्वासियों, प्रभु के लोगों के लिए, क्या व्यवस्था की कोई उपयोगिता अथवा भूमिका है? आज हम इनमें से पहले प्रश्न, व्यवस्था के द्वारा जीवन मिलने को देखना आरंभ करेंगे।

    व्यवस्था, जिसके पालन के द्वारा जीवन मिलने की बात कही गई है, उसके विषय पहले हमें इस बात का ध्यान रखना आवश्यक है कि व्यवस्था क्या है। व्यवस्था क्या है, यह हमें मत्ती 22:35-40 में प्रभु यीशु की व्यवस्थापक से हुए बातचीत, और उस बातचीत के निष्कर्ष से पता चलता है। जैसा हम एक आरंभिक लेख में देख चुके हैं, प्रभु यीशु ने स्वयं हमारे लिए परिभाषित किया है कि परमेश्वर की व्यवस्था कोई रीति-रिवाज़, धर्म, पर्वों और परंपराओं आदि का पालन करना नहीं है। वरन, व्यवस्था परमेश्वर और मनुष्यों के साथ हमारे संबंध, समर्पण, और व्यवहार को निर्धारित और निर्देशित करने वाले परमेश्वर के नियम हैं। इन में सबसे ऊपर, सबसे बढ़कर परमेश्वर के प्रति संपूर्ण समर्पण और आज्ञाकारिता, तथा मनुष्यों के प्रति खरा प्रेम है, व्यवस्था इनका परमेश्वर की आज्ञाकारिता में सही निर्वाह है। और यही रोमियों 13:8-10 में भी परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा द्वारा कहा गया है। व्यवस्था के विषय यह एक आम, किन्तु बिलकुल गलत धारणा है कि पुराने नियम में, विशेषकर मूसा की पहली पाँच पुस्तकों में दिए गए रीति-रिवाजों का पालन करने, पर्वों को मनाने, भेंटो और बलिदानों को उनके निर्धारित समय और विधि के अनुसार चढ़ाने को ही लोग व्यवस्था का अर्थ और व्यवस्था का पालन करना मान लेते हैं। लेकिन पुराने नियम ही में लिखा गया है कि इन रीति-रिवाजों, पर्वों, भेट-बलिदानों आदि के निर्वाह की केवल औपचारिकता पूरी कर लेने के द्वारा न तो परमेश्वर प्रसन्न होता है और न ही अनन्त जीवन मिल सकता है (यशायाह 1:12-20)।

प्रभु यीशु मसीह ने अनन्त जीवन का मार्ग जानने के लिए उसके पास आए हुए धनी जवान से कहा था, “... पर यदि तू जीवन में प्रवेश करना चाहता है, तो आज्ञाओं को माना कर” (मत्ती 19:17); अर्थात, प्रभु यीशु मसीह के अनुसार, आज्ञाओं के पालन से जीवन में प्रवेश मिल सकता है। प्रभु उस व्यक्ति से जिन आज्ञाओं के पालन की बात कर रहा था, वे पुराने नियम में दी गई परमेश्वर की व्यवस्था के एक भाग, दस आज्ञाओं, के पालन के बारे में है। न केवल यहाँ पर प्रभु यीशु मसीह ने, लेकिन पुराने नियम में परमेश्वर ने भी कहा है कि उसके नियम और विधियाँ मानने से उसके लोग जीवित रहेंगे (लैव्यव्यवस्था 18:5; नहेम्याह 9:29; यहेजकेल 20:11; आदि)। और इसकी पुष्टि नए नियम में पवित्र आत्मा ने पौलुस प्रेरित द्वारा भी करवाई है (रोमियों 10:5)। वचन की इन बातों के कारण, यहाँ एक विरोधाभास की सी स्थिति प्रतीत होती है। इस विरोधाभास को समझने और सुलझाने के लिए हम अगले लेख में वचन से कुछ संबंधित बातों को देखेंगे, कि वचन के अनुसार जीवन क्या है, और जीवन में प्रवेश करना, या, जीवन पा लेना से क्या अर्थ है।

    यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु, मैं अपने पापों के लिए पश्चातापी हूँ, उनके लिए आप से क्षमा माँगता हूँ। मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मुझे और मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

Can The Law Give Life? – 1

 

    Having seen the things related to the Law and salvation, and having understood why the Law cannot save us, we still have some important questions to clarify. The first is that if salvation is not through the observance of the Law, then why do the Old and New Testaments talk of receiving life through the Law? The second, what is the purpose of giving the Law? And the third question is, for us Christians, the people of the Lord, today does the law have any utility or role? Today we'll begin to look at the first of these questions, the receiving of life through the Law.

    Before understanding this, it is necessary to recall and keep in mind what is the Law, about which it has been said that if obeyed, it gives life. We learn what the Law is from the Lord Jesus' conversation with the Scribe in Matthew 22:35-40, and from the conclusion of this conversation. As we saw in an earlier article, the Lord Jesus Himself has defined for us that the Law of God is not the observance of any customs, religion, festivals and traditions, etc. Rather, the Law is God's rules defining and directing our relationship, submission, and behavior with God and man, and our having sincere love for men. Obeying the Law is obeying these instructions from God, in full submission and sincerity, in the manner God wants them obeyed. And this is again affirmed by God the Holy Spirit in Romans 13:8-10. It is a common, but absolutely erroneous belief regarding the Law, that it is the observance of the customs set forth in the Old Testament, especially in the first five books of Moses; that it is to observe festivals, to offer gifts and sacrifices at the prescribed time and in the given manner. People assume this to be the meaning of the Law and fulfill the law accordingly. But it is written in the Old Testament itself that God can neither be pleased by man’s fulfilling these rituals, festivals, offerings, etc. as a mere formality, nor can eternal life be obtained by their ritualistic formal observation (Isaiah 1:12–20).

    The Lord Jesus Christ told the rich young man who came to him to know the way to eternal life, “… but if you want to enter life, keep the commandments” (Matthew 19:17); i.e., according to the Lord Jesus Christ, obedience to the commandments can lead to entry into life. The commandments that the Lord was referring to here for obedience, to this person, are the Ten Commandments, a part of God's Law in the Old Testament. Not only did the Lord Jesus Christ here, but God also said in the Old Testament that obeying His Laws and statutes would give life to His people (Leviticus 18:5; Nehemiah 9:29; Ezekiel 20:11; etc.). And this is also affirmed by the Holy Spirit in the New Testament through the apostle Paul (Romans 10:5). Because of these points of Scripture, there seems to be a contradiction here. To understand and resolve this contradiction, we will look at some of the relevant and related things from the Scripture in the subsequent articles. We will see what, according to the Scripture is life; and what it means to enter into, or, receive life.
