दाऊद ने 1 राजाओं 2:2-4 में, परमेश्वर की आज्ञाकारिता और मार्गदर्शन में एक सफल और आशीषित जीवन जीने के लिए, हाल ही में इस्राएल का राजा बनाए गए अपने पुत्र सुलैमान को जो निर्देश दिए थे, इस श्रृंखला में हमने उनसे अभी तक जो सीखा है, हम उसका पुनःअवलोकन कर रहे हैं। पिछले लेख में हमने देखा है कि शैतान किस तरह से परमेश्वर के वचन में मिलावट करता है कि वचन के सन्देश को अप्रभावी बना सके। शैतान यह काम अपने दूतों के द्वारा तथा परमेश्वर के समर्पित विश्वासियों को बहकाने और भरमाने के द्वारा भी करता है; उन्हें इसी गलतफहमी में डाल कर कि वे श्रद्धा और आदर के साथ परमेश्वर की सेवा कर रहे हैं, जबकि वास्तव में वे भ्रष्ट किये हुए वचन को सीखा और प्रचार कर रहे होते हैं। आज हम बाइबल में से शैतान द्वारा परमेश्वर के लोगों को बहकाने और भरमाने के उदाहरणों का पुनःअवलोकन करेंगे; और एक ऐसे उदाहरण को भी देखेंगे कि कैसे शैतान परमेश्वर के वचन के लेख ही का प्रयोग करते हुए भी, उस में ऐसे अर्थ और अभिप्राय, जो न तो लेख में दिए गए और न ही जिनके लाए जाने का कोई संकेत किया गया, जोड़ने के द्वारा वचन का दुरुपयोग करता है। और वह आज भी इस युक्ति का बहुत सफलता से मण्डलियों में ऐसे ही उपयोग कर रहा है। हम कुछ उदाहरणों को देखते हैं:

विश्वासियों को यह कभी नहीं भूलना चाहिए कि न केवल परमेश्वर के विरुद्ध कही गई बातें, बल्कि वे बातें जो कहीं तो परमेश्वर के पक्ष में गई हैं, किन्तु उस के सत्यों तथा बाइबल के तथ्यों और उनके अभिप्रायों के अनुसार नहीं हैं, वे भी परमेश्वर को स्वीकार्य नहीं हैं, और उसके न्याय को न्यौता देती हैं। इस प्रकार से परमेश्वर के प्रति खरे और श्रद्धापूर्ण होते हुए भी, गलत तथा परमेश्वर को अस्वीकार्य होने का एक अच्छा उदाहरण है अय्यूब के मित्र। उन मित्रों ने अय्यूब की सम्पूर्ण पुस्तक में अय्यूब से परमेश्वर के पक्ष में होकर बात की, किन्तु परमेश्वर से संबंधित उनके कथनों और अभिप्रायों में गलतियाँ थीं, जिस कारण परमेश्वर उन से क्रोधित हुआ। यद्यपि परमेश्वर उन्हें दण्ड देना चाहता था, किन्तु उसने यह अय्यूब, जिस पर वे परमेश्वर के नाम में दोष लगा रहे थे, पर छोड़ दिया कि उनकी नियति का निर्णय करे। अय्यूब उनके लिए प्रार्थना करता है, और उन्हें उनके दण्ड से बचा लेता है (अय्यूब 42:7-10)।

इसी प्रकार से पौलुस, अपने परिवर्तन से पहले एक बहुत पढ़ा-लिखा और उत्साही फरीसी था, लेकिन उसने जो पवित्र शास्त्र से सीखा था उसकी गलत समझ रखने तथा परमेश्वर के प्रति कुछ गलतफहमियों के साथ उत्साही होने के कारण, यह समझते हुए कि वह परमेश्वर की दृष्टि में सही है, परमेश्वर ही के अनुयायियों को सता रहा था (प्रेरितों 26:9-10)। उसके उद्देश्यों में कुछ गलत नहीं था – वह परमेश्वर से प्रेम करता था, उसके लिए कार्य करने के प्रति बहुत उत्साही था, और जितना उस से हो सकता था वह करने के लिए अथक परिश्रम करता था। इसीलिए, वह उन सभी लोगों को दण्ड देना चाहता था जो उसकी समझ के अनुसार परमेश्वर तथा उसके वचन के विमुख चलते थे। लेकिन दोष उसके परमेश्वर के वचन की समझ, और व्याख्या करने में था, जिसके कारण उसका रवैया और उसका व्यवहार गलत था। वह परमेश्वर के प्रति खरा और प्रतिबद्ध तो था, किन्तु गलत भी था। बाद में, जैसे कि पौलुस ने रोमियों 7:14-24 में अंगीकार किया है, हमें पता चलता है कि पौलुस एक महान प्रचारक और शिक्षक होने के बावजूद, पाप से संघर्ष करता था, ऐसी बातें भी कर जाता था जिन्हें वह नहीं करना चाहता था। इसीलिए वह 2 कुरिन्थियों 5:10 में “हम” के उपयोग के द्वारा प्रकट कर देता है कि वह और उसके सहकर्मी, सभी मसीह के न्याय-सिंहासन के सामने अपना-अपना हिसाब देंगे। दूसरे शब्दों में, न केवल मसीही विश्वास में आने से पहले, बल्कि मसीही विश्वास में आने के बाद भी पौलुस जैसा परमेश्वर का सेवक भी गलतियाँ करता रहता था। 

पतरस ने भी प्रभु के प्रति अपने प्रेम और श्रद्धा में होकर, जब प्रभु ने अपने पकड़वाए जाने, सताए जाने, और मारे जाने की बात की, तो प्रभु को ही डाँट दिया (मत्ती 16:21-23); और उस से पहले, रूपांतरण के पहाड़ पर भी पतरस ने बिना समझे-बूझे व्यर्थ बातें बोली थीं (मरकुस 9:5-6)। दोनों ही स्थानों पर पतरस के उद्देश्य गलत नहीं थे; वह प्रभु के प्रति अपने प्रेम को व्यक्त कर रहा था, उसे आदर देना चाह रहा था। किन्तु वह जो कह और कर रहा था, वह परमेश्वर के वचन और इच्छा के अनुसार नहीं था; इसलिए उसकी बात का तिरस्कार किया गया और उसके लिए प्रभु ने पतरस को डाँटा। बाद में, जैसा कि हम गलतियों 2:11-14 में देखते हैं, पतरस फिर से मनुष्यों को प्रसन्न करने के लिए दोगलेपन के व्यवहार में गिर गया; और पौलुस ने उसे इसके लिए उसे सब के सामने डाँटा था।

प्रेरित यूहन्ना ने भी यह माना है कि वह भी पाप में गिरता रहता था – 1 यूहन्ना 1:8-10 में उसके द्वारा “हम, हमारे” शब्दों के उपयोग पर ध्यान कीजिए, जिन के द्वारा वह दिखा रहा है कि पाप करने वालों में वह स्वयं भी सम्मिलित है। उसने तो यहाँ तक कहा है कि यदि कोई यह दावा करता है कि वह पाप नहीं करता है, तो उसमें सत्य नहीं है, और वह परमेश्वर को भी झूठा ठहरा रहा है। इसका अर्थ यही है कि उसके वार्तालाप, प्रचार, शिक्षा, व्यवहार आदि में, कभी न कभी, कहीं न कहीं, गलतियाँ होती रहती थीं, जिनका अंगीकार करना, पश्चाताप करना, और जिन्हें सुधारना उसके लिये आवश्यक होता है।

शैतान भी प्रभु के वचन के लेख में बिना कोई बदलाव किए उस का दुरुपयोग करता है। प्रभु यीशु के बपतिस्मे के तुरंत बाद, और सेवकाई आरंभ करने से पहले हुई परीक्षाओं (मत्ती 4:1-11; लूका 4:1-13) में, तीन बार शैतान ने परमेश्वर के वचन का दुरुपयोग किया और प्रयास किया कि किसी तरह से प्रभु से वचन का उल्लंघन करवा दे। शैतान ने किसी भी समय परमेश्वर के वचन में न तो कुछ जोड़ा, और न ही उस में से कुछ निकाला। लेकिन उस ने जानबूझकर उसे इस तरह से और ऐसे गलत अर्थ के साथ प्रस्तुत किया, ऐसे अभिप्राय के साथ, जो वचन में न तो थे, और न ही जिन्हें वहाँ कभी होना था। शैतान यही बात आज परमेश्वर के समर्पित विश्वासियों द्वारा भी करवाता है; उनसे भी इसी प्रकार से वचन का दुरुपयोग करवाता है। शैतान बड़ी चालाकी और चुपके से विश्वासियों को बहका और भरमा कर इस धोखे में डाल देता है जिस से कि वे परमेश्वर के वचन की बातों को ऐसे अर्थों और अभिप्रायों के साथ सोचने, मानने, प्रचार करने, और सिखाने लगते हैं, जो वचन में उनके संबंध में दिए ही नहीं गए हैं, और न ही उनका कभी वैसा अर्थ अथवा उपयोग होना है। उन से यह करवाते समय शैतान उन्हें इसी भ्रम में बनाए रखता है कि वे परमेश्वर के प्रति बहुत श्रद्धा तथा आदर का व्यवहार कर और सिखा रहे हैं, और जो वे कह तथा करवा रहें हैं वह परमेश्वर की महिमा के लिए है। किन्तु वास्तव में, जैसा हमने अय्यूब के मित्रों, पौलुस, पतरस, और यूहन्ना के उदाहरणों से देखा है, शैतान ने उन्हें अनजाने में परमेश्वर के प्रतिकूल बातों को कहने और करने में डाल दिया है। इस तरह से वह मानवीय विचार और बुद्धि की उपज की बातों को वचन में मिला कर वचन के सन्देश को अप्रभावी कर देता है।

तो, कोई भी, जीवन के किसी भी समय पर, प्रभु की सेवकाई के किसी भी स्तर पर सिद्ध नहीं होता है, गलती करने से बचा हुआ नहीं होता है। इसलिए यह अनिवार्य है कि प्रत्येक विश्वासी हमेशा प्रेरितों 17:11 और 1 थिस्सलुनीकियों 5:21 का पालन करे; अर्थात, पहले पवित्र शास्त्र से हर बात को जाँचे और परखे, सुनिश्चित करे कि वह बात सही है कि नहीं, और उसके बाद ही उसे स्वीकार करे और उसका पालन करे। पिछले लेख में हमने उन तीन आधारों को देखा है जिनके द्वारा यह पहचान की जा सकती है कि क्या परमेश्वर से है और क्या नहीं है। किन्तु दुर्भाग्य की बात है कि विश्वासियों का सामान्य व्यवहार अँध-विश्वास करने का ही होता है। विश्वासी किसी विख्यात और आदरणीय प्रचारक एवं शिक्षक के लिए, अपनी गलत धारणा के अन्तर्गत यही मान कर चलते हैं कि उस व्यक्ति के जैसा भक्त जन कभी कोई गलती भला कैसे कर सकता है; और इसी गलतफहमी में उसकी कही हर बात को हमेशा ही सत्य मान लेते हैं। चाहे वह सत्य न भी हो, चाहे अनजाने में ही वह व्यक्ति भी उपरोक्त उदाहरणों के समान शैतान द्वारा किसी गलती में डाल दिया गया हो। इसीलिए किसी भी शिक्षा या बात को स्वीकार करने और व्यवहार में लाने से पहले इस प्रकार से जाँचने परखने को मण्डलियों के अगुवों के लिए वचन में अनिवार्य बनाया गया है (1 कुरिन्थियों 14:29)।

हम अगले लेख से जो हमने परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा के बारे में सीखा है, उसका पुनःअवलोकन आरंभ करेंगे।

यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। स्वेच्छा से अपने पापों के लिये पश्चाताप करके, प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु, मैं अपने पापों के लिए पश्चातापी हूँ, उनके लिए आप से क्षमा माँगता हूँ। मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मुझे और मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

Recapitulation – 4

We are recapitulating what we have learnt so far from David’s instructions given in 1 Kings 2:2-4 to his son Solomon, recently crowned King of Israel, for living a successful and blessed life under the guidance and obedience of God. In the last article we have recapitulated about how Satan adulterates God’s Word to render its message ineffective. Satan does this through his agents, as well as by misleading God’s committed Believers into errors; in getting them to assume that they are serving God reverentially, though actually they are preaching and teaching an adulterated Word. Today we will recapitulate some examples of how Satan misleads God’s people, and also see an example of how Satan misuses God’s Word by retaining the text, but ascribing meanings to that which were neither given nor intended in God’s Word. And he is using this ploy quite successfully in the assemblies these days. Let us consider these examples:

The Believers must never forget that not only things said contrary to God, but even things said in favor of God, but not in accordance with His truth and with the actual implications of Biblical facts, they too are unacceptable to God and bring judgment from Him. A good example of being sincere and reverent towards God, yet being wrong and unacceptable to God, are Job's friends. Throughout the Book of Job, they spoke to Job in favor of God, but their statements and the implications related to God were incorrect, and that angered God against them. Though God wanted to punish them, but He left it to Job, whom they were accusing in the name of God, to decide their fate. Job prays for them and delivers them from their punishment (Job 42:7-10).

Similarly, Paul was a very learned and zealous Pharisee before his conversion, but because of his misunderstanding of the Scriptures he had learnt, and his misplaced zeal for God, he used to persecute the followers of the very Lord God, whom he assumed that he was serving (Acts 26:9-10). There was nothing wrong in his intentions – he did love the Lord and was zealous for him, wanting to serve Him as best as he could. Therefore, he wanted to punish those whom he thought were contrary to God and His Word. But his learning, understanding, and interpretation of God's Word was erroneous, which gave him this wrong attitude and behavior. He was sincere towards God, but still was wrong towards Him. Later, as Paul confesses in Romans 7:14-24, we learn that he was still struggling with sin in his life, and would do things that he did not want to do, despite being the eminent preacher and teacher of God’s word that he was. That is why, in 2 Corinthians 5:10, by using “we,” he makes it clear that he and his co-workers will all stand before the judgement seat of Christ to give the account of their lives. In other words, even a God’s servant like Paul, not only before his conversion, but even after his conversion, kept making mistakes.

Peter too, in his love and reverence for the Lord Jesus, rebuked Him for talking about His impending arrest, torture, and death (Matthew 16:21-23); and on an earlier occasion Peter had talked vainly at the Mount of Transfiguration (Mark 9:5-6) without considering what he was saying. At both places Peter’s intentions were not at fault, he wanted to honor the Lord, show his love for the Lord. But what he was doing and saying was not in accordance with the Word and will of God; and therefore, it was rejected and Peter was rebuked by the Lord. Later, as we see in Galatians 2:11-14, Peter trying to be a man-pleaser, fell into hypocrisy, and Paul openly rebuked him for it.

The Apostle John too has confessed that he kept falling in sin – take note of his using words like “we, us, ourselves” in 1 John 1:8-10, thereby including himself in those who sinned. He went on to say that anyone claiming not to sin is not speaking the truth and is making God a liar. This implies that in conversing, preaching, teaching, behavior, etc. at some point or the other he did commit mistakes, which needed to be confessed, repented of, and rectified by him.

Satan too, can deliberately misuse God’s Word, without altering it in any way. In the temptations of the Lord Jesus, immediately after His baptism, and before His beginning His ministry (Matthew 4:1-11; Luke 4:1-13), thrice Satan misused God’s Word to try to make the Lord act contrary to the Word. On none of the occasions, did Satan add anything or take anything away from God’s Word. But he deliberately misinterpreted it and presented it in such a manner, with meanings and implications that were never there in the Word of God, nor were ever intended to be there. Satan does this even today, through God’s committed Believers; getting them to misuse things written in God’s Word. Satan very subtly deceives the Believers into making them think, believe, preach, and to teach others some things from God’s Word with meanings and implications that are not there in the Word of God about them, nor those meanings and implications are ever intended to be put there. Satan does this while making them believe that they are being very reverential and God honoring, and what they are saying and teachings is for the glory of God. But actually, as we have seen from the examples of Job’s friends, Paul, Peter, and John, Satan has beguiled them into inadvertently doing things unacceptable to God. In this manner he brings in false teachings to adulterate God’s Word with human thoughts and things of man’s wisdom, and renders its message ineffective.

So, no one, at any stage in life and service for the Lord is ever perfect, is ever immune from making mistakes. Therefore, it is imperative that every Believer follows Acts 17:11 and 1 Thessalonians 5:21; i.e., first cross-checks everything from the Scriptures, makes sure that it is correct, and only then accepts and follows it. In the previous article we have also seen three criteria which guide us in discerning what is from God and what is not. Unfortunately, the commonly followed routine is for Believers to trust and believe anything and everything any eminent man of God preaches and teaches. They blindly start accepting and following whatever he says and does, under the false assumption that one as godly as he is, will never make any mistakes. And under this misconception people accept everything that person says as the truth, even when actually it is not the truth. Therefore, this cross-checking by the members and the elders of every assembly, of everything taught or preached, before accepting it, and putting it into practice by the assembly, has been made necessary (1 Corinthians 14:29).

We will carry on and recapitulate what we have learnt about God the Holy Spirit from the next article.

If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord, make your decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now to ensure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Repenting of your sins, and asking the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily and sincerely, surrendering yourself to Him - is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life.  Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.

पिछले लेख में हमने 2 कुरिन्थियों 4:1 से देखा था कि परमेश्वर के वचन के उपयोग और उसके साथ व्यवहार में पौलुस किस तरह से तीन बातों का ध्यान रखता था – उसकी सेवकाई परमेश्वर द्वारा निर्धारित थी, उस पर परमेश्वर की दया के कारण थी, और उसके लिए वह पवित्र आत्मा के मार्गदर्शन और सामर्थ्य से खराई से बहुत परिश्रम करता था। पौलुस ने अपने परिश्रम के परिणामों को परमेश्वर के हाथों में छोड़ दिया था, उसे अपनी परिस्थितियों की, उसके प्रति लोगों के व्यवहार की, उस सेवकाई के परिणामों की कोई चिंता नहीं थी; और इसीलिए ऐसी बातों को लेकर वह निराश भी नहीं होता था। आज से हम अगले पद, 2 कुरिन्थियों 4:2 पर विचार आरम्भ करेंगे, और पौलुस से हमारे वर्तमान समय के लिए परमेश्वर के वचन का उपयोग और उससे व्यवहार सीखना जारी रखेंगे।

इस पद में, पौलुस, उसके द्वारा परमेश्वर के वचन के उपयोग और उससे व्यवहार के तीन गुणों को हमारे सामने रखता है, तथा साथ ही वचन की उसकी सेवकाई के उद्देश्य को भी बताता है। यहाँ पर पौलुस बताता है कि उसने तीन गुणों के द्वारा सत्य को प्रगट किया, ताकि हर एक मनुष्य के विवेक में अपनी भलाई बैठाए, यह ध्यान रखते हुए कि यह सब कुछ परमेश्वर के सामने, अर्थात, परमेश्वर की पूर्ण जानकारी में हो रहा है, और परमेश्वर को हमेशा ही पता रहता है कि वह क्या कर रहा है। इस पद में पौलुस द्वारा दिए गए की सेवकाई के गुण उसके अपने मानवीय चरित्र और व्यवहार, इस सेवकाई को स्वीकार करने के उसके उद्देश्य, और परमेश्वर के वचन के प्रति उसके आदर और श्रद्धा से सम्बन्धित हैं। यहाँ पर पौलुस द्वारा दिये गये सेवकाई के ये तीन गुण हैं:

• लज्जा के गुप्त कामों को त्यागना

• चतुराई से न चलना

• परमेश्वर के वचन में मिलावट नहीं करना

 

पौलुस यहाँ पर कहता है कि उपरोक्त गुणों के द्वारा, उसकी सेवकाई का उद्देश्य था सत्य को प्रगट करना, जिस से कि वह प्रत्येक मनुष्य के विवेक में अपनी भलाई बैठा सके, इस बात का ध्यान रखते हुए कि वे हमेशा परमेश्वर की दृष्टि में बने रहते हैं। यह एक बार फिर से, पौलुस के उदाहरण का अनुसरण करने के द्वारा, परमेश्वर के वचन की सेवकाई का एक और उद्देश्य हमारे सामने रखता है – सत्य को प्रगट करना। इसलिए, हम यह समझ सकते हैं कि परमेश्वर के वचन की सेवकाई किसी के द्वारा पवित्र शास्त्र के विषय उसके ज्ञान और समझ का प्रदर्शन करने के लिए, वाक्पटुता दिखाने के लिये नहीं है। पौलुस उत्तम प्रशिक्षण  पाया हुआ एक बहुत ज्ञानवान फरीसी था; परन्तु पवित्र शास्त्र के विषय अपने ज्ञान को प्रदर्शित करने की बजाए, उसने यीशु की पहचान को प्राप्त करने के लिए अपने ज्ञान का तिरस्कार किया, उसे कूड़ा समझा, क्योंकि अपने ज्ञान के द्वारा वह मसीह को प्राप्त कर पाने में असमर्थ था (फिलिप्पियों 3:7-8)। न ही वचन की सेवकाई मण्डली में अपने अनुयायी बनाने, गुट-बाज़ी करने, अपना अनुसरण करने वाले लोगों का समूह बना लेने के लिए है; हम देख चुके हैं कि पौलुस ने ऐसी प्रवृत्तियों की तीव्र भर्त्सना की है (रोमियों 16:17; 1 थिस्सलुनीकियों 2:6)। और न ही यह सेवकाई साँसारिक संपत्ति अर्जित करने, भौतिक लाभ कमाने का तरीका है – पौलुस ने इसके विरुद्ध भी कठोरता से लिखा है (रोमियों 8:5-7; फिलिप्पियों 3:19; 1 तीमुथियुस 6:5)।

लेकिन जैसा कि पौलुस ने अपने जीवन के द्वारा दिखाया है, और यहाँ इस पद में वह कहता भी है, परमेश्वर के वचन की सेवकाई का उद्देश्य है परमेश्वर के वचन के सत्य को सँसार के सामने उजागर करना। यही, यह अभिप्राय देता है कि परमेश्वर के वचन को उसकी पूर्ण शुद्धता और पवित्रता में ही प्रस्तुत करना है, बिना उस में मानवीय बुद्धि के विचारों, ज्ञान, और समझ की कोई बात मिलाए। जैसा हम पिछले लेखों में देख चुके हैं, यह कार्य स्पष्ट, सीधे और सहज रीति से किया जाना है, जिससे कि श्रोता उसे सुनकर आसानी से समझ सकें; और परमेश्वर तथा उसके वचन की ओर आकर्षित हों, न कि किसी मनुष्य और उसकी शैली के प्रति। ध्यान कीजिए कि जिस समय पौलुस ने यह लिखा था, अधिकांश लोग अनपढ़ होते थे, वे सीधे-सादे और साधारण लोग होते थे, जिनकी शब्दावली बहुत सीमित थी। इसीलिए, किसी भी जटिल, या आलंकारिक, या समझने में कठिन भाषा का उपयोग, परमेश्वर के वचन के प्रचार और शिक्षा के उद्देश्य को ही व्यर्थ कर देता।

 

और एक तरह से, आज भी हमारे लिए, वर्तमान में वचन की सेवकाई करने वालों के लिये, यह बात उतनी ही सही है, क्योंकि आज भी अधिकांश लोग परमेश्वर के वचन के बारे में ‘अनपढ़’ और ‘साधारण’ ही हैं। इसीलिए, उनके लिए भी परमेश्वर के वचन और उसके संदेश को उन्हें सीधे, स्पष्ट, और सहज रीति से दिए जाने की आवश्यकता है। हम पहले देख चुके हैं कि पौलुस सामान्य लोगों के मध्य बहुत सीधे और सहज रीति से बोलता था (1 कुरिन्थियों 2:1); और वह आत्मिक रीति से परिपक्व लोगों के मध्य ही परमेश्वर के वचन की गूढ़ बातें और भेदो की बात करता था (1 कुरिन्थियों 2:6-7)। साथ ही, पौलुस यह बहुत अच्छे से समझता था कि परमेश्वर के वचन के सत्य को प्रस्तुत करने के लिए, प्रस्तुत करने के लिये परमेश्वर के द्वारा दिये सन्देश में किसी भी प्रकार की कोई मानवीय समझ और बुद्धि, या वाक्पटुता के मिलाने की ज़रा भी गुंजाइश नहीं है, लेश-मात्र भी नहीं, क्योंकि शब्दों के ज्ञान का उपयोग क्रूस के सन्देश को व्यर्थ कर देता है (1 कुरिन्थियों 1:17)।

आने वाले लेखों में हम इस पद में परमेश्वर के वचन की सेवकाई के सम्बन्ध में कही गई अन्य बातों पर विचार करना ज़ारी रखेंगे।

यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। स्वेच्छा से अपने पापों के लिये पश्चाताप करके, प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु, मैं अपने पापों के लिए पश्चातापी हूँ, उनके लिए आप से क्षमा माँगता हूँ। मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मुझे और मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

Appropriately Handling God’s Word – 19

 

In the previous article we have seen from 2 Corinthians 4:1 how Paul, in handling and utilizing God’s Word, always kept three things in mind – his ministry was God given, it was because of God’s mercy, and he labored diligently for his ministry under the guidance and power of the Holy Spirit. Paul had left the results of his labors to God, without being discouraged or worried about his circumstances, how people behaved towards him, and the results of his ministry. Today we will take up the next verse, i.e., 2 Corinthians 4:2 for consideration, and continue to learn from Paul about our utilizing and handling God’s Word in our present times.

 

In this verse Paul gives three characteristics of his utilizing and handling God’s Word, and also speaks of his purpose in the ministry of God’s Word. Paul says here that he and his colleagues did these things to manifest the truth, to commend themselves in every man’s conscience, and with the awareness that they are always in God’s sight, and God is always fully aware of whatever they do. The characteristics of Paul’s ministry, as given in this verse are based on his own human character and behavior, on the purpose of his accepting this ministry, and on his respect and reverence for God’s Word. The three characteristics that Paul mentions here are:

• Having renounced the hidden things of shame

• Not walking in craftiness

• Not handling the Word of God deceitfully

 

Paul states here that through the above-mentioned characteristics, the aim of his ministry was to manifest the truth so as to make themselves commendable to every person’s conscience, knowing that they are always under the watchful eyes of God. This, through emulating Paul, sets before us another of the purposes of the ministry of God’s Word – to manifest or display the truth. Therefore, we can understand that the ministry of God’s Word is not to display one’s knowledge and understanding of the Scriptures, and their eloquence. Paul was a highly trained and a very learned Pharisee; but instead of displaying his knowledge of the Scriptures, he denounced it in light of the excellence of the knowledge of Christ Jesus, since that knowledge was unable to have him gain Christ (Philippians 3:7-8). Nor is the Word ministry meant to acquire a fan-following and cause any factionalism or have one’s own group of followers, in the Church; we have seen earlier how Paul spoke strongly against these tendencies (Romans 16:17; 1 Thessalonians 2:6). Nor is it meant to be a means of acquiring worldly wealth and temporal gains – this too Paul has spoken against very strongly (Romans 8:5-7; Philippians 3:19; 1 Timothy 6:5).

But, as Paul demonstrates from his own life, and says here in this verse, the ministry of the Word of God is to bring forth the truth of God’s Word before the world. This by itself implies that the Word of God must be presented in its purity and holiness, and absolutely unadulterated by any thoughts of any human wisdom or understanding. As we have seen in the earlier articles, this must be done in a clear, simple, straightforward manner, so that the audience can easily understand and follow it; and be attracted to God and His Word, instead of towards any man and that man’s eloquence. Remember, when Paul wrote this, the vast majority of the population was illiterate, they were simple rustic folks with a limited vocabulary. Therefore, any complex, or idiomatic, or difficult to understand language would defeat the very purpose of preaching and teaching God’s Word.

 

In a manner of speaking, for us, and for those engaged in the ministry of God’s Word today, the same holds equally true even today, since the vast majority of the people are ‘illiterate’ and ‘simple’ regarding God’s Word even today. Therefore, they too need God’s Word and its message to be presented to them in a simple, easy to understand manner. We saw earlier that Paul spoke in a very simple straightforward manner to the common people (1 Corinthians 2:1); he spoke the mysteries and wisdom of God’s Word only amongst the spiritually mature (1 Corinthians 2:6-7). Moreover, Paul understood this very well that for presenting the truth of God’s Word, there is no scope, none whatsoever, of mixing in one’s own eloquence and understanding about God’s Word into the God given message; since, as we have seen earlier, preaching with the wisdom of words only spoils God’s Word, making it vain (1 Corinthians 1:17).

In the coming articles, we will continue to ponder over the other things stated in this verse, related to the ministry of the Word of God.

You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life.  Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.

परमेश्वर के वचन में फेर-बदल – 9

 

पिछले लेख में हमने देखा था कि हव्वा को भले और बुरे में अंतर करने का ज्ञान पाकर, ‘परमेश्वर के तुल्य’ हो जाने का लालच देने के द्वारा शैतान ने पहले हव्वा को, और फिर उसके द्वारा आदम को पाप में गिराया था। जब शैतान ने हव्वा से बात की थी, उस समय सारी सृष्टि बहुत अच्छी थी (उत्पत्ति 1:31) तथा तब तक संसार में पाप नहीं था। वह और आदम तथा सृष्टि में अन्य सभी कुछ निष्पाप दशा में थे; आदम और हव्वा परमेश्वर के साथ खुली और निर्बाध संगति रखते थे। तब भी हव्वा, इस बारे में परमेश्वर से कुछ पूछे और जाने बिना ही, अपनी ही बुद्धि और समझ के अनुसार उसे आकर्षक और उचित लगने वाली, किन्तु परमेश्वर की कही बात से असंगत तथा विरुद्ध उस व्यर्थ और अनावश्यक बात को प्राप्त करने के लालच में फंस गई। 

शैतान आज भी मनुष्यों को इसी प्रकार से, परमेश्वर की कही बात से असंगत, उसके विरुद्ध, अनेकों प्रकार की व्यर्थ और अनावश्यक बातों के लालच में फुसलाकर, गिरा देता है (2 कुरिन्थियों 11:3)। मनुष्य अपनी ही दृष्टि और बुद्धि से सही, परन्तु बुरी या पाप की बात को कर देने में फँस जाता है। जिसमें फंस कर फिर वह जीवन भर उलझा पड़ा रहता है; स्वयं भी हानि उठाता है, तथा औरों को भी हानि पहुँचाता है। हव्वा के मूर्खता में पड़ने और फँसने का परिणाम था कि आदम और हव्वा ने भले और बुरे में अंतर करने का ज्ञान तो पाया, किन्तु हमेशा के लिए बुराई से बचे रहने और भला ही करते रहने की क्षमता गँवा दी। पाप के कारण मनुष्य में बस गई इस प्रवृत्ति के कारण, आज अनेकों परमेश्वर के प्रतिबद्ध लोग, कलीसियाओं के अगुवे, बाइबल के शिक्षक और प्रचारक भी यही गलती करते रहते हैं। क्योंकि अब उनमें “भले और बुरे के ज्ञान” की समझ रखने और निर्णय लेने की शारीरिक प्रवृत्ति है, इसलिये अब वे भी उनकी दृष्टि में जो सही और उचित है, उसी को प्रचार करते और सिखाते रहते हैं। संसार और साथ के लोगों से मिलने वाली प्रशंसा, स्वीकृति, और अनुमोदन के कारण जब वे स्वयं को वचन के ज्ञाता, परमेश्वर द्वारा उपयोग किये जाने वाले, तथा लोगों के मध्य एक हैसियत रखने वाले समझने लगते हैं, तब वे 1 कुरिन्थियों 10:12 में सचेत किये गये फंदे में फँसाए जाने की स्थिति में आ जाते हैं।

 

ऐसे में यदि वे सचेत नहीं रहे, उनमें “अपने भले और बुरे का ज्ञान रखने, और पहचान करने” का घमण्ड आया, तो शैतान तुरन्त ही उन के द्वारा, उनकी अपनी धारणाओं और समझ के अनुसार, बाइबल के लेखों का दुरुपयोग करवाने लगता है। और वे बाइबल की बातों को बाइबल में दिये उस बात अर्थों और अभिप्रायों से असंगत, यहाँ तक कि बाइबल के विपरीत अर्थों और अभिप्रायों के साथ भी, उपयोग करने और करवाने लगते हैं। अपनी व्याख्या को सही ठहराने और उसका प्रचार एवं प्रसार करने में वे इस बात का भी ध्यान नहीं करते हैं कि परमेश्वर के वचन में, उनकी व्याख्या के अनुरूप, कभी भी, कहीं भी, किसी के भी द्वारा, कुछ भी कहा और उपयोग नहीं किया गया है। और उन अगुवों, बाइबल के शिक्षकों एवं प्रचारकों के अन्ध-भक्त, जो उनकी प्रतिष्ठा के कारण हर बात को बिना पहले वचन से जाँचे-परखे (प्रेरितों 7:11; 1 कुरिन्थियों 14:29; 1 थिस्सलुनीकियों 5:21) स्वीकार करते रहते हैं, उनकी इन गलतियों को, परमेश्वर के वचन की भ्रष्ट की गई अप्रभावी और अनुचित बातों को फैलाते रहते हैं; और इससे अपनी  तथा औरों की भी हानि करते रहते हैं।

 

यद्यपि शैतान भली-भांति जानता है कि एक वास्तव में नया जन्म पाया हुआ मसीही विश्वासी अपना उद्धार कभी नहीं खो सकता है, लेकिन वह यह भी जानता है कि मसीही विश्वासी का परमेश्वर का अनाज्ञाकारी होना न केवल उसकी आशीषों, दोनों स्वर्गीय और भौतिक, को हानि पहुँचाएगा; वरन साथ ही उसके आत्मिक जीवन को भी कमज़ोर करेगा, और उसे सँसार के साथ समझौते का जीवन जीने वाला बना देगा। मसीही विश्वासी के इस प्रकार के दुर्बल और समझौते के तथा अप्रभावी गवाही के जीवन के कारण अन्य लोग उद्धार पाने के लिए मसीह यीशु के पास आना नहीं चाहेंगे। और यह मसीही विश्वासी तथा परमेश्वर के राज्य की हानि और शैतान के लाभ की बात होगी। इसीलिए शैतान के लिए यह बहुत महत्वपूर्ण है कि वह किसी न किसी तरह से मसीही विश्वासी को परमेश्वर के मार्गों तथा वचन से भटकाए और उसे अपनी शैतानी युक्तियों में फँसा ले। और ऐसा कोई भी मसीही विश्वासी जिसमें किसी भी बात के लिये ज़रा सा भी घमण्ड है, शैतान की कुटिल युक्तियों को कार्यान्वित करने के लिये उपयुक्त है।

 

इस युक्ति को पूरा करने के लिए, शैतान ने एक अन्य मानवीय प्रवृत्ति का उपयोग किया है, किसी भी आकर्षक या तर्कपूर्ण प्रतीत होने वाली बात को मान लेना। शैतान मसीही विश्वासियों से परमेश्वर की अनाज्ञाकारिता करवाता है, उनसे परमेश्वर के निर्देशों की बजाए उनकी अपनी बुद्धि और समझ की बातों पर भरोसा रखने के द्वारा। शैतान ने यह युक्ति हव्वा के विरुद्ध उपयोग की (उत्पत्ति 3:6); और उसके बाद से अभी तक, मनुष्यों को गलत मार्ग पर डालकर परमेश्वर के मार्ग से भटका देने के लिए, इस युक्ति का बड़ी सफलतापूर्वक उपयोग करता चला आ रहा है। अंतर केवल इतना ही है कि हव्वा के लिए उसने वर्जित फल का उपयोग किया था; और शैतान मसीही विश्वासियों के लिए बाइबल के लेखों का दुरुपयोग करता है। शैतान ऐसा इसलिये कर पाता है, क्योंकि वह भली-भांति जानता है कि अधिकांश मसीहियों को बाइबल अध्ययन करने में कोई रुचि नहीं है। उन में बाइबल की बातों की बहुत ऊपरी समझ, और हल्का सा ज्ञान होता है; और वास्तविकता में वे बाइबल के तथ्यों और सच्चाइयों से मुख्यतः अनभिज्ञ होते हैं। इसलिये अधिकाँश मसीही विश्वासी, अन्य प्रतिष्ठित बाइबल शिक्षकों और प्रचारकों, या अपनी कलीसिया के अगुवों द्वारा कही गई बातों पर ही निर्भर रहते हैं, उन्हें ही वास्तविक सत्य समझते और मानते हैं। इसलिये शैतान उनसे जो कुछ भी कहलवाया देगा, ये विश्वासी उसे स्वीकार कर लेंगे, उसका पालन करने लगेंगे।

 

मसीही विश्वासी पाप और परमेश्वर के बारे में बाइबल की कुछ बातें जानते हैं। लेकिन मुख्य समस्या यह है कि अधिकांश ईसाई या मसीही परमेश्वर के वचन बाइबल का अध्ययन पवित्र आत्मा की अधीनता और अगुवाई में नहीं करते हैं, इसीलिए, वे शिक्षाओं को ठीक से जांच-परख नहीं सकते हैं, सत्य और असत्य में, तथ्यों और मन-गढ़ंत बातों में अंतर नहीं करने पाते हैं, क्योंकि यह केवल परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा की सामर्थ्य ही से किया जा सकता है (1 कुरिन्थियों 2:10-14)। और इसीलिए, किसी भी ऐसे व्यक्ति के द्वारा जो थोड़ा ज़ोर देकर, अथवा आकर्षक, या रोचक, तथा तर्कपूर्ण रीति से बाइबल के लेखों को बोलता है, उसके द्वारा लोग आसानी से गलतियों की ओर बहकाए जा सकते हैं और बहकते भी हैं।

 

शैतान इस बात का पूरा लाभ उठाता है कि बहुत से ईसाई या मसीही चाहे आदत से अथवा औपचारिकता निभाने के लिए बाइबल को पढ़ते होंगे, हो सकता है नियमित तथा प्रतिदिन भी पढ़ते होंगे, लेकिन शायद ही कभी वे बैठकर जो पढ़ा है उस पर विचार करते हैं, मनन करते हैं, परमेश्वर से प्रार्थना करते हैं कि उनकी आँखों को खोले कि वे उसके वचन की अद्भुत बातों को देख सकें (भजन 119:18)। हो सकता है कि कुछ ईसाई या मसीही बाइबल की कॉमेंटरी या अन्य सहायक पुस्तकों की सहायता से उन्होंने जो पढ़ा है, उसे सीखने-समझने का प्रयास करते हैं, और इसीलिए उनका बाइबल ज्ञान तथा समझ या तो मुख्यतः किताबी ही रहता है, अथवा, वे कुछ समय के बाद यह करना भी छोड़ देते हैं। बहुत ही कम ऐसे होते हैं जो प्रार्थना-पूर्वक प्रभु के चरणों पर, मरियम के समान बैठते हैं (लूका 10:39, 42), और पवित्र आत्मा को उन्हें सिखाने और समझाने देते हैं। लेकिन फिर भी लगभग सभी ईसाई या मसीही यही समझते हैं कि उन्हें परमेश्वर के वचन का पर्याप्त ज्ञान और समझ है, तथा मानते हैं कि कोई उन्हें बहका नहीं सकता है। बाइबल के लेखों से सम्बन्धित इसी कमी का शैतान भरपूरी से लाभ उठाता है, और मसीही विश्वासियों को बाइबल के बाहर की या उस से विपरीत बातों, संदेशों तथा शिक्षाओं को स्वीकार करने और मानने में फँसा लेता है। 

प्रचारक और अनुयायी, दोनों ही शैतान द्वारा गलत मार्ग पर चलाए जाते हुए भी इसी गलतफहमी में रहते हैं कि वे भक्ति का और परमेश्वर की आज्ञाकारिता का कार्य कर रहे हैं। अगले लेख में हम इसके बारे में कुछ और देखेंगे।

यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। स्वेच्छा से अपने पापों के लिये पश्चाताप करके, प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु, मैं अपने पापों के लिए पश्चातापी हूँ, उनके लिए आप से क्षमा माँगता हूँ। मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मुझे और मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

Altering God’s Word - 9

 

In the previous article we saw that by tempting Eve with the desire to become “like God,” by obtaining the knowledge of good and evil, Satan first caused Eve to fall into sin, and then through her, Adam as well. When Satan spoke to Eve, all creation was very good (Genesis 1:31), and until that time there was no sin in the world. She, Adam, and everything else in creation were in a sinless state; Adam and Eve had open and unhindered fellowship with God. Yet Eve, without asking or knowing anything about this from God, became ensnared by the temptation to obtain that vain and unnecessary thing which seemed attractive and proper to her, according to her own wisdom and understanding, but which was inconsistent with and contrary to what God had said. 

In the same way, even today Satan deceives people and causes them to fall by enticing them with many kinds of vain and unnecessary things that are inconsistent with and opposed to what God has said (2 Corinthians 11:3). A person becomes trapped into doing what appears right in his own sight and reasoning, but which is evil or sinful. Having fallen into it, he then remains entangled in it throughout his life; he himself suffers loss and also causes harm to others. The result of Eve’s falling into foolishness and being ensnared was that Adam and Eve did gain the knowledge of good and evil, but they lost the ability to remain forever free from evil and to continue doing only what is good.

Because of this tendency that entered humanity through sin, today many devoted people of God — the Church leaders, Bible teachers, and preachers — also keep making the same mistake. Since they now possess the human tendency to understand and make decisions based on the “knowledge of good and evil,” they continue preaching and teaching what appears right and proper in their own sight. When, because of the praise, acceptance, and approval they receive from the world and from those around them, they begin to regard themselves as knowledgeable in the Word, as people used by God, and as persons of standing among others, they come into a position where they can fall into the trap warned about in 1 Corinthians 10:12.

If at such a time they are not alert, and pride arises in them over their supposed ability to “know and discern good and evil about what they say,” then Satan immediately begins to induce them to misuse the writings of the Bible, according to their own assumptions and understanding. They start using, and causing others to use, the teachings of the Bible in ways that are inconsistent with the actual meanings and implications given in the Bible itself, even bringing in meanings and implications that are contrary to the Bible. In seeking to justify their interpretation and to promote and spread it, they do not even consider that in the Word of God, in accordance with their interpretation, nothing like it has ever been said or used by anyone anywhere. And the blind followers of those leaders, Bible teachers, and preachers, who, because of their reputation, continue accepting everything without first examining and testing it by the Word (Acts 17:11; 1 Corinthians 14:29; 1 Thessalonians 5:21), keep spreading these errors, these corrupted, ineffective, and improper teachings of the Word of God, thereby bringing harm both to themselves and to others.

Though Satan knows very well that a truly Born-Again Christian Believer will never lose his salvation, but he also knows that a Believer’s disobedience to God will not only bring harm to his blessings, both heavenly and temporal; but will also weaken his spiritual life and get him into living a life of compromising with the world. This poor witness of a Christian Believer’s life then serves to discourage others from coming to Christ Jesus for salvation. This will be a loss to the Christian Believer and God’s Kingdom and a gain for Satan. Hence it is of paramount importance for Satan to somehow get a Christian Believer to deviate from God’s ways and Word, and get entangled in Satan’s ploys. Any Christian Believer, who has any pride about anything, however little it may be, is appropriate to implement the devious satanic ploys.

To accomplish this ploy, Satan has taken the help of another human tendency, that of falling for something that seems appealing and logical. Satan makes Believers disobey God, by making them trust more on their own thinking and logic, than on God’s instructions. Satan had used this against Eve (Genesis 3:6); and since then, he has been using this method very successfully against mankind, to misguide and draw them away from God. The only difference is that with Eve Satan used the forbidden fruit; for the Believer’s, Satan uses the Biblical texts. Satan is readily able to do this, since he is well aware that most Christians have no interest in studying the Bible for themselves. They only have very superficial and light knowledge about the Bible, and they are not actually aware of the truths and facts of God’s Word. Therefore, the majority of the Christian Believers rely upon whatever is said and taught by reputed Bible teachers and preachers, or by their Church leaders; and accept whatever they say as the truth. Therefore, whatever Satan makes them say, these Believers will readily accept and follow.

The Christian Believers know some Biblical facts about sin and God. But the major problem is that since most Christians do not study God’s Word the Bible under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, therefore, they are unable to properly analyze the teachings and discern truth from untruth, facts from fiction, since this can only be done through the power of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 2:1-14). Therefore, they can easily be misled, and are misled, by anyone who can forcefully, or in an appealing, or interesting and seemingly logical manner, present some Bible texts in an impressive manner.

 

Satan takes full advantage of the fact that though many Christians may habitually or perfunctorily read the Bible, maybe even do so regularly and daily, but hardly ever will they sit down to ponder over it, meditate upon what they have read, asking God to open their eyes to see the wondrous things from His Word (Psalm 119:18). Few Christians may take the help of some Commentaries and other Bible help books to try to learn and grasp something about what they have read, and so they will either have only a bookish knowledge and understanding, or will stop doing even this after some time. But very rare are the ones who prayerfully sit down at the feet of the Lord like Mary (Luke 10:39, 42), and allow the Holy Spirit to speak to them and teach them. But yet, all of them believe they know enough of God’s Word, and therefore believe that they cannot be misguided about it. It is this very short-coming that Satan exploits to misuse Biblical texts to misguide and trap the Christian Believers into accepting and following unBiblical preaching and teachings. 

The preacher and teacher as well as their followers, even while being misled by Satan, remain under the deception that they are being godly and obedient to God’s Word. We will continue with this in the next article.

If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord, make your decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now to ensure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Repenting of your sins, and asking the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily and sincerely, surrendering yourself to Him - is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life.  Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.
