हम पहले देख चुके हैं कि कुरिन्थुस की कलीसिया के नाम लिखी इस पत्री में जिस पहली गलती को पौलुस संबोधित करता है, वही यहाँ पर उनके द्वारा प्रभु भोज के गंभीर दुरुपयोग का कारण भी है - कलीसिया में गुट-बाज़ी और विभाजन। यह छोटा और महत्वहीन प्रतीत होने वाला पाप - कलीसिया के कुछ लोगों के अन्दर एक ओहदा और पहचान रखने की लालसा, अर्थात, वह स्तर और स्थान चाहना जो परमेश्वर ने उन्हें प्रदान नहीं किया था, शैतान के द्वारा कलीसिया तथा विश्वासियों के व्यक्तिगत जीवनों में  विनाशकारी परिणामों को ले आया। वास्तविकता में, यह पाप वही था जो प्रधान स्वर्गदूत लूसिफर ने स्वर्ग में किया, जिसके कारण उसे निकाल बाहर किया गया और वह शैतान बन गया। मुख्य बात यह है कि कोई भी पाप कभी भी छोटा और महत्वहीन नहीं होता है। प्रत्येक पाप शैतान को दिया गया एक निमंत्रण और उसके लिए खोला गया एक द्वार है कि वह आए और उस पाप को करने वाले व्यक्ति तथा उसमें उसके संगियों के जीवनों में आकर अपने विनाश को कार्यान्वित करे। पवित्र आत्मा के द्वारा पौलुस उन्हें 1 कुरिन्थियों 11:23 और आगे के पदों में उनके द्वारा प्रभु भोज के दुरुपयोग तथा इस बात के दुष्प्रभावों को सुधारने के बारे में बताता और सिखाता है। संक्षेप में, पौलुस उनके सामने प्रभु यीशु द्वारा प्रभु भोज को स्थापित करने को दोहराता है, और अनुचित रीति से प्रभु की मेज़ में भाग लेने के दुष्परिणामों को बताता है। किन्तु पद 23 में पौलुस द्वारा कहा गया आरंभिक वाक्य विचार तथा मनन करने के योग्य है, क्योंकि यह हमारे सामने पाप के एक और दुष्परिणाम को उजागर करता है - अभिमान और हृदय की कठोरता।

पौलुस, पद 23 में उन बहकाए गए और गलत मार्ग पर डाल दिए गए विश्वासियों को सुधारने का संबोधन “क्योंकि यह बात मुझे प्रभु से पहुंची, और मैं ने तुम्हें भी पहुंचा दी...” कहने के द्वारा करता है; जिसका तात्पर्य है कि अब वह जो कहने तथा सिखाने जा रहा है वे उसके अपने विचार और समाधान नहीं हैं, परंतु जो प्रभु ने उसे दिया और उन्हें बताने के लिए कहा है। पौलुस, एक प्रेमी और धीरजवंत पिता के समान, अपने आत्मिक बच्चों की सहायता करने और उन्हें शैतान के हाथों, जहाँ उन्होंने अपने आप को फंसा लिया है, से छुड़ाने के प्रयास में लगा हुआ है। किन्तु कुरिन्थियों के विश्वासियों में से कुछ लोग उसकी अनदेखी करने, उसके परामर्श की अवहेलना करने, और उसे उसका स्थान, जो उनके मध्य उसे मिलना चाहिए था नहीं देने में लगे हुए हैं। पौलुस ने कुरिन्थुस में डेढ़ साल रहकर परिश्रम किया था, उन्हें परमेश्वर का वचन सिखाया था (प्रेरितों 18:1, 11), और उनसे उसका गहरा लगाव भी हो गया था; इसकी तुलना में पौलुस ने थिस्सलुनीकिया में केवल “तीन सबत” ही प्रचार किया (प्रेरितों 17:1-2)। किन्तु जब हम 1 थिस्सलुनीकियों 1 अध्याय को पढ़ते हैं, तो कुरिन्थुस की मण्डली की तुलना में उनके गुणों और उनकी सराहना को बहुत उच्च पाते हैं।

पौलुस द्वारा कुरिन्थुस की मण्डली को लिखी गई दोनों पत्रियों में, वह उन्हें बारंबार याद दिलाता और समझाने का प्रयास करता है, परमेश्वर द्वारा उसे दिए गए प्रभु के प्रेरित होने के ओहदे को, और उसके आत्मिक अधिकार के बारे में - जिसे उसने उन पर कभी भी नहीं थोपा। परंतु जितना समय पौलुस ने उनके मध्य बिताया था, उनके प्रति जो लगाव उसे हो गया था, और उन लोगों को उसे जानने और समझने का जो अवसर मिला था, उसके कारण पौलुस को यह सब कहने और करने की कोई आवश्यकता नहीं होनी चाहिए थी, उन्हें स्वतः ही सत्य को समझ लेना चाहिए था। पौलुस इस पत्री का आरंभ उन्हें अपने प्रभु की ओर से प्रेरित नियुक्त किए जाने की बात के साथ करता है (1 कुरिन्थियों 1:1)। वह 1 कुरिन्थियों 4:1-5 में संकेत करता है कि कुछ बात थी जिसके विषय कुरिन्थुस के विश्वासी उसकी कोई गलती कह रहे थे और उसके विरुद्ध विचार बना रहे थे; और 4:1-2 से लगता है कि यह बात पौलुस की सेवकाई और उसके प्रभु का भण्डारी होने से संबंधित थी। फिर पौलुस उन्हें 1 कुरिन्थियों 4:15-21 में उनका आत्मिक पिता होने के अधिकार से उन्हें डाँट लगाता है, और 4:18 में उनमें से कुछ के अंदर पनप रहे घमण्ड का उल्लेख करता है। पौलुस 1 कुरिन्थियों 9:1-2 में फिर से अपने प्रेरित होने और आत्मिक अधिकार रखने को दोहराता है; यहाँ 9:1-18 से प्रतीत होता है कि उस पर अपने स्थान और अधिकार का प्रयोग उन पर निर्भर होकर जीवन जीने, उनके संसाधनों को अपने स्वार्थ के लिए प्रयोग करने का दोष लगाया जा रहा था। वह उनके इस दोषारोपण का घोर विरोध करता है, और उन्हें स्पष्ट करता है कि उनका उसके बारे में यह सोचना निराधार और गलत है, और फिर वह 9 अध्याय के अंत में उन्हें समझाता है कि वह प्रभु का एक अनुशासित सेवक है, और उसे जो करना चाहिए तथा, जो नहीं करना चाहिए, उससे वह भली-भांति अवगत है (9:24-27)। फिर अध्याय 11 के आरंभ में वह उन्हें याद दिलाता है कि उसका आदर्श, जिसका वह अनुसरण करता था, प्रभु यीशु है, और उन्हें भी उसके समान ऐसा ही करना चाहिए (11:1-2), जिससे एक बार फिर यह संकेत मिलता है कि कुरिन्थुस की कलीसिया के कुछ लोग उससे और उसकी शिक्षाओं से प्रसन्न नहीं थे, और यही सोचते थे कि वह अपनी ओर से कहता और करता रहता था। अब यहाँ, 11:23 में आकर, वह फिर से यह आवश्यक समझता है कि उन्हें बता दे कि जो कुछ भी वह उन्हें कह और सिखा रहा था, वह उसके अपने विचार नहीं थे, परन्तु उनके लिए प्रभु द्वारा दिया गया संदेश था।

अगले लेख में हम इसी विषय को और आगे बढ़ाते हुए, इस के बारे में साँसारिक तथा आत्मिक लोगों की प्रतिक्रिया में तुलनात्मक भिन्नता के बारे में देखेंगे।

The Lord’s Table - Arrogance, an Evidence of Sin (1)

 

       We have earlier seen that the first error that Paul takes up and addresses in this letter to the Corinthians, is the same that he points out as the root cause of their grave mishandling of the Lord’s Table - factionalism and divisions in the Church. The seemingly small and insignificant sin - the desire of some members of the Corinthian Church to have approval and recognition in the congregation, i.e., have a status and position, not accorded to them by the Lord in His Church, allowed Satan to bring in very disastrous consequences in the Church as well as the personal life of the Believers. Actually, this sin was the same that Lucifer as the Archangel committed in heaven, for which he was cast out, and became Satan. The fact of the matter is that no sin is small or insignificant; every sin is an invitation extended to Satan along with an opening provided to him to come in and wreak havoc in the life of the person committing the sin and those joining him in it. Through the Holy Spirit, Paul shows them from 1 Corinthians 11:23 onwards how to rectify the error of their mishandling of the Holy Communion and its consequences. Essentially, Paul recounts to them the Lord’s setting up of the Holy Communion and its purpose, and tells them about the consequences of unworthily participating in the Lord’s Table. But Paul’s opening sentence in verse 23 is worthy of consideration and pondering over, since it brings to our attention another consequence of sin - arrogance and hardening of hearts.

       Paul, in verse 23, begins his correcting the deceived and misled Believers by saying “For I received from the Lord that which I also delivered to you…”, implying that what he is now going to say and teach are not his own thoughts and solution, but what the Lord has told him and asked him to tell them. Paul, like a loving and considerate father, continues to try to help and deliver his spiritual children from the trap of Satan, into which they had fallen; but some amongst the Corinthian Believers continue to ignore him, disregard his advice, and not accord him the place and honor he ought to have had amongst them. Paul had stayed and labored in Corinth for one and a half years (Acts 18:1, 11), teaching them the Word of God and had become attached to them; in contrast he had stayed in Thessalonica for only “three Sabbaths” (Acts 17:1-2). But 1 Thessalonians chapter 1, presents a stark contrast of the qualities and commendations given to the Thessalonian Church in comparison to what we see about the Corinthian Church.

In both the letters written by Paul to the Corinthians, he repeatedly tries to remind and convince them of the status the Lord has given him as the Lord’s Apostle, and of his spiritual authority - which he has refrained from asserting over them. Whereas for the amount of time Paul had spent amongst them, for the attachment he had developed for them, and since they had the opportunity to personally get to know him over this time-period, this should have been something totally unnecessary. Paul begins this letter by telling them of his apostleship from the Lord Jesus (1 Corinthians 1:1). In 1 Corinthians 4:1-5, he indicates some issue for which the Corinthians were wrongly and unfavorably judging him, and it seems from 4:1-2 that it was related to Paul’s ministry and being a steward of the Lord. Paul then in 1 Corinthians 4:15-21, admonishes them as their spiritual father, while pointing out the arrogance of some in 4:18. In 1 Corinthians 9:1-2, Paul again states his apostleship and spiritual authority; here 9:1-18 seem to indicate that he was being accused of using this status and authority, to live off them, to use their resources for his personal benefit. But he vehemently defends himself and clarifies that their thinking about him in this manner is unfounded and false, and ends chapter 9 by pointing out to them that he was a disciplined servant of the Lord, being well aware of what he ought to do and what not to do (9:24-27). Then again, at the beginning of chapter 11, he reminds them that his role model, the one he emulates, is the Lord Jesus, and they too should do the same (11:1-2), which again hints that some in the Corinthian Church were not happy with him nor agreeing with his teachings, thinking that he was doing it on his own. Now, in 11:23 he again feels it necessary to point out to them that what he was teaching and telling them was not from his own side, but was the Lord’s message to them.

In the next article, we will continue with this topic and consider the contrast and difference about this between the worldly and the spiritual people.

A short prayer said voluntarily with a sincere heart, with heartfelt repentance for your sins, and a fully submissive attitude, “Lord Jesus, I confess that I have disobeyed You, and have knowingly or unknowingly, in mind, in thought, in attitude, and in deeds, committed sins. I believe that you have fully borne the punishment of my sins by your sacrifice on the cross, and have paid the full price of those sins for all eternity. Please forgive my sins, change my heart and mind towards you, and make me your disciple, take me with you." God longs for your company and wants to see you blessed, but to make this possible, is your personal decision. Will you not say this prayer now, while you have the time and opportunity to do so - the decision is yours.

       पिछले लेख में हमने देखा था कि किस प्रकार से प्रभु परमेश्वर ने फसह को इस्राएलियों के लिए एक वार्षिक पर्व में परिवर्तित किया था; और उसी प्रकार से प्रभु यीशु ने भी प्रभु-भोज को अपने शिष्यों के लिए एक यादगार के लिए स्थापित किया था, जिससे कि वे सदा मानव-जाति के उद्धार के लिए दिए गए प्रभु के बलिदान, उसकी मृत्यु, गाड़े जाने, और जी उठने को स्मरण करते रहें। यही प्रभु-भोज में भाग लेने का प्राथमिक उद्देश्य है - कि परमेश्वर की सन्तान हमेशा इस बात को याद करते रहें और इसके बारे में अपनी याददाश्त को हमेशा ताज़ा रखें कि उनका छुटकारा केवल परमेश्वर के अनुग्रह से, कलवरी के क्रूस पर प्रभु यीशु द्वारा दिए गए बलिदान और मृतकों में से उसके पुनरुत्थान के कारण हुआ है। यह उनके किसी धार्मिकता के कार्यों के द्वारा नहीं है, न तो उनका कोई भी कार्य या कोई भी बात उनको उद्धार देने पाई थी और ना ही कभी दे सकती थी। जब तक परमेश्वर की सन्तान इसे निरन्तर स्मरण नहीं रखेंगे, और अपने जीवन इस मूल बात पर केन्द्रित करके नहीं जीएँगे, तो शैतान उन्हें भरमा और बहका कर स्व-धार्मिकता, घमण्ड, और अपने आप को औरों से बेहतर तथा अधिक उच्च समझने वाला बना देगा, बहुत बड़ी हानि में ले जाएगा। आज हम प्रभु की बलिदानी मृत्यु और उसके पुनरुत्थान को याद करते रहने के महत्व के बारे में कुछ और बातें देखेंगे।

        पतरस ने अपनी दूसरी पत्री में कहा है कि वह जानता है कि उसके संसार से जाने का समय आ गया है, लेकिन यह होने से पहले वह उन बातों की जो उसने सिखाई हैं, एक यादगार छोड़ कर जाएगा, ताकि वे लोग हमेशा उन्हें याद करते रह सकें (2 पतरस 1:12-15)। प्रभु यीशु ने हमें प्रभु भोज दिया, जिससे कि हम उसके बलिदान को जिसके द्वारा हम छुड़ाए और पापों से बचाए गए, को याद करते रह सकें। लेकिन क्योंकि परमेश्वर के लोगों ने स्वयं परमेश्वर के वचन और उसके निर्देशों को पढ़ना और सीखना छोड़ दिया है, इसलिए शैतान बड़ी चालाकी से, बहुत हल्के से इस यादगार को एक रीति, एक परंपरा में परिवर्तित करने में सफल रहा है, और उसकी शैतानी चालों ने बाइबल के विरुद्ध की यह बात लोगों के मनों में बहुत गहराई से बसा दी है कि प्रभु भोज केवल एक यादगार नहीं है, लेकिन इसमें भाग लेने से लोग प्रभु के जन हो जाते हैं, परमेश्वर को स्वीकार्य तथा स्वर्ग में प्रवेश के योग्य हो जाते हैं। यह गलत धारणा बहुत गहराई से लोगों के मनों में बैठ चुकी है और उनके अंदर से इसको निकाल बाहर करना, इसे हटा पाना बहुत कठिन हो गया है क्योंकि लोग अपने उन धार्मिक अगुवों की सुनने और मानने में अधिक विश्वास रखते हैं, जिन्होंने इस अनुचित और गलत धारणा को उन्हें दिया है, बजाए स्वयं परमेश्वर के वचन को पढ़ने, सत्य को सीखने और उसका पालन करने के।

        परमेश्वर घमण्ड को कतई सहन नहीं करता है, और प्रधान स्वर्ग-दूत, लूसिफर, अपने घमण्ड ही के कारण स्वर्ग से निकाला और गिराया गया, शैतान बँ गया। और इसीलिए वह आज भी लोगों से परमेश्वर की अनाज्ञाकारिता करवा के, उन्हें विभिन्न विधियों से किसी न किसी प्रकार के घमण्ड में डाल कर - चाहे वह धर्मी और धार्मिक होने का, परमेश्वर के वचन की समझ-बूझ रखने का, वचन का प्रचार करने का, इत्यादि का घमण्ड ही क्यों न  हो, परमेश्वर के लोगों को परमेश्वर की वास्तविक संगति, सहभागिता, और आशीषों से दूर रखता है; और वे धोखे में यही समझते रहते हैं कि अपने कर्मों के कारण वे धर्मी और परमेश्वर को स्वीकार्य हैं। परन्तु प्रभु-भोज के द्वारा जब व्यक्ति अपने पूर्णतः अयोग्य होने, और केवल परमेश्वर के अनुग्रह और प्रभु यीशु की बलिदानी मृत्यु तथा पुनरुत्थान के आधार पर परमेश्वर को स्वीकार्य होने को याद करता तथा ध्यान रखता है, तो यह उसे विनम्र बनाता है, और वह शैतान द्वारा घमण्ड में गिराए जाने से सुरक्षित हो जाता है, तथा परमेश्वर की वास्तविक संगति, सहभागिता, और आशीषों के साथ जुड़ा रहता है।

        जैसा कि हम पहले देख चुके हैं, प्रभु भोज में भाग लेना एक धार्मिक रीति या औपचारिकता नहीं है, किन्तु यह उनके लिए है जिन्होंने स्वेच्छा से प्रभु के योग्य जीवन बिताने उसकी आज्ञाकारिता में चलने का निर्णय लिया है, और इसके लिए कीमत चुकाने के लिए भी तैयार हैं। यदि आप एक मसीही विश्वासी हैं, और प्रभु की मेज़ में भाग लेते रहे हैं, तो कृपया अपने जीवन को जाँच कर देख लें कि आप वास्तव में पापों से छुड़ाए गए हैं कि नहीं? क्या आप ने अपना जीवन प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता में जीने के लिए उस को समर्पित किया है कि नहीं? आपके लिए यह अनिवार्य है कि आप परमेश्वर के वचन की सही शिक्षाओं को जानने के द्वारा एक परिपक्व विश्वासी बनें, तथा सभी शिक्षाओं को वचन की कसौटी पर परखने, और बेरिया के विश्वासियों के समान, लोगों की बातों को पहले वचन से जाँचने और उनकी सत्यता को निश्चित करने के बाद ही उनको स्वीकार करने और मानने वाले बनें (प्रेरितों 17:11; 1 थिस्सलुनीकियों 5:21)। अन्यथा शैतान द्वारा छोड़े हुए झूठे प्रेरित और भविष्यद्वक्ता मसीह के सेवक बन कर (2 कुरिन्थियों 11:13-15) अपनी ठग विद्या और चतुराई से आपको प्रभु के लिए अप्रभावी कर देंगे और आप के मसीही जीवन एवं आशीषों का नाश कर देंगे।

       In the previous article we had seen how the Passover was made an annual memorial feast for the Israelites by the Lord God; and similarly, the Lord Jesus established the Lord's Supper as a memorial for His disciples to keep remembering His sacrifice, His death, burial and resurrection for the redemption of mankind. This is the primary purpose of participating in the Holy Communion - that the children of God should keep recalling and refreshing their memories that they have been redeemed only by the grace of God through faith in the sacrifice of the Lord Jesus on the Cross of Calvary and His resurrection. No works of any righteousness, or any other thing had ever redeemed them or could ever redeem them and reconcile them with God. Unless God's children always keep this in mind, and live their lives centered on this basic fact, Satan will mislead them into assuming and trusting that their salvation is the result of something that they have done; and then carry them away into a life of self-righteousness, pride, and having an attitude of thinking themselves to be better or superior than others, and take them away into a great loss. Today, we will continue looking into the importance of always keeping the sacrificial death and resurrection of the Lord in mind.

        Peter says in his second letter that he knows that he will shortly be departing from this world, but before doing so, he will leave behind a reminder of the things he has taught, so that they can always be reminded of them (2 Peter 1:12-15). The Lord Jesus gave us the Holy Communion to remember his sacrifice that redeemed and saved us from our sins. But because God’s people have stopped studying and learning God’s Word and instructions for themselves, Satan has subtly and very cunningly managed to turn the this memorial observance into a ritual, and deviously has deeply planted into the hearts of people the unBiblical idea that participating in the Communion is not just a memorial, but it is what makes them God’s people, makes them acceptable to God, and worthy of entering heaven; an idea that has become very hard to remove and dispel, since they would rather listen to and obey their religious leaders who have given them this false impression, than study God’s Word and learn the truth for themselves.

        God does not tolerate pride at all, and it was because of pride that the Arch-Angel Lucifer was thrown out and fell to become Satan. It is for this reason that even today he keeps making people disobey God, and in one way or another make them fall into some kind of pride - it may even be the pride of being religious and righteous, of having an understanding and knowledge of God's Word, of being able to preach from and about God's Word, etc., and by this he keeps people away from the actual fellowship, communion, and blessings of God; while the people falsely keep thinking that because of their works, they are righteous and acceptable to God. But in participating in the Lord's Table, when a person remembers his unworthiness, and that he is made acceptable to God only by the grace of God because of the sacrificial death and resurrection of the Lord, it humbles him, and is made safe from being misled and being made to fall into pride by Satan. This ensures his truly being in fellowship, communion, and receiving the blessings of God.

        As we have seen earlier, participating in the Holy Communion is not a religious ritual or formality to be carried out perfunctorily, but is for those who willingly have chosen to be committed disciples of the Lord, to live in obedience to His Word, and are even willing to pay a price for doing so. If you are a Christian Believer, and have been participating in the Lord’s Table, then please examine your life and make sure that you are actually a disciple of the Lord, i.e., are redeemed from your sins, have submitted and surrendered your life to the Lord Jesus to live in obedience to Him and His Word. You should also always, like the Berean Believers, first check and test all teachings that you receive from the Word of God, and only after ascertaining the truth and veracity of the teachings brought to you by men, should you accept and obey them (Acts 17:11; 1 Thessalonians 5:21). If you do not do this, the false apostles and prophets sent by Satan as ministers of Christ (2 Corinthians 11:13-15), will by their trickery, cunningness, and craftiness render you ineffective for the Lord and cause severe damage to your Christian life and your rewards.

        If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord Jesus, then take a decision in its favor now to secure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. The Lord's security and blessings are present where there is obedience of the Lord, where His Word is honored and followed. If you are still not Born Again, have not obtained salvation, or have not asked the Lord Jesus for forgiveness for your sins, then you have the time and opportunity to do so right now. Ask the Lord Jesus to forgive your sins, and voluntarily and sincerely surrender yourselves into His hands - this is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. All you have to do is say a short prayer, voluntarily and with a sincere heart, with heartfelt repentance for your sins, and a fully submissive attitude. You can do this in this manner, “Lord Jesus, I confess that I have disobeyed You, and have knowingly or unknowingly, in mind, in thought, in attitude, and in deeds, committed sins. I believe that you have fully borne the punishment of my sins by your sacrifice on the cross, and have paid the full price of those sins for all eternity. Please forgive my sins, change my heart and mind towards you, and make me your disciple, take me with you." God longs for your company and wants to see you blessed, but to make this possible, is your personal decision. One prayer said with a sincere and surrendered heart will turn your present and future, your life here on earth and in the next world, forever and make you heavenly and blessed. Will you not say this prayer now, while you have the time and opportunity to do so? The decision is yours.

व्यावहारिक मसीही जीवन जीने के लिए मसीही विश्वासियों के लिए आवश्यक है कि वे प्रभु परमेश्वर के प्रति सच्चे मन से समर्पित, उसके प्रतिबद्ध, और परमेश्वर के वचन बाइबल के आज्ञाकारी हों। सामान्यतः यह समर्पण, प्रतिबद्धता, और आज्ञाकारिता, प्रभु को उद्धारकर्ता ग्रहण करने और उद्धार पाने के कुछ समय के बाद तक तो देखी जाती है, किन्तु समय के साथ, जैसे बीज बोने वाले के दृष्टान्त में प्रभु ने तीसरे प्रकार के बीज के लिए बताया था, बहुत से मसीही विश्वासियों के मसीही जीवनों को संसार की बातें और चिंताएँ तथा धन का धोखा, अर्थात सांसारिक धन कमाने, उसे जमा करके रखने, और बाल-बच्चों के लिए कुछ छोड़ जाने की लालसा दबा देते हैं (मत्ती 13:22)। और यह मसीही विश्वासी को उसके मसीही विश्वास और जीवन में बढ़ने तथा उसके प्रभु के लिए उपयोगी होने को बाधित कर देते हैं, और दोनों स्थानों, पृथ्वी तथा स्वर्ग में, उसे परमेश्वर से मिलने वाली सभी आशीषों को रोक देते हैं। इस समस्या का समाधान एक ही है, परमेश्वर और उसके वचन की आज्ञाकारिता को अपने व्यक्तिगत जीवनों में प्राथमिक स्थान एवं महत्व देना। यह कर पाने के लिए उन्हें व्यावहारिक मसीही जीवन जीने से सम्बन्धित बाइबल में दी गई शिक्षाओं का पालन करना है। 

इस बाइबल अध्ययन में हम व्यावहारिक मसीही जीवन से सम्बन्धित इन्हीं शिक्षाओं को देख रहे हैं। वर्तमान में प्रेरितों 2:42 में दी गई चार बातों, जिन्हें मसीही विश्वास के जीवन के चार स्तम्भ भी कहा जाता है, और आरम्भिक मसीही विश्वासी जिनका लौलीन होकर पालन करते थे, उन में से तीसरे स्तम्भ, “रोटी तोड़ना” अर्थात प्रभु की मेज़ में या प्रभु-भोज में भाग लेने के बारे में देख रहे हैं। हम प्रभु की मेज़ से सम्बन्धित शिक्षाओं को सात बिन्दुओं के अन्तर्गत देख रहे हैं। पिछले दो लेखों में हमने पहले दो बिन्दुओं पर विचार किया है कि प्रभु की मेज़ में भाग लेने से कोई मसीही विश्वासी नहीं बन जाता है, वरन जो यूहन्ना 1:12-13 का पालन करने के द्वारा मसीही विश्वासी बन चुके हैं, उन्हें प्रभु-भोज में सम्मिलित होना है, चाहे उनकी आत्मिक आयु और परिपक्वता कुछ भी हो। साथ ही हमने प्रभु द्वारा इस मेज़ को स्थापित करने के बारे में संक्षेप में देखा, तथा यह भी देखा और समझा था कि एक आम, किन्तु गलत धारणा के विपरीत, यहूदा इस्करियोती को प्रभु द्वारा स्थापित की गई पहली मेज़ में सम्मिलित नहीं किया गया था। प्रभु की मेज़ में भाग लेने से सम्बन्धित महत्वपूर्ण शिक्षाएँ पवित्र आत्मा ने प्रेरित पौलुस में होकर 1 कुरिन्थियों 11:17-34 में दी हैं। आज से हम परमेश्वर के वचन बाइबल के इसी खण्ड पर तीसरे बिन्दु के साथ मनन करना आरम्भ करेंगे।

3. प्रभु-भोज के लिए तैयारी - एक फटकार - पद 17-22  

कुरिन्थुस की मण्डली पौलुस द्वारा वहाँ विपरीत परिस्थितियों और विरोध का सामना करते हुए, डेढ़ वर्ष तक परिश्रम करते रहने का परिणाम थी (प्रेरितों 18:1-11)। पौलुस उस मण्डली के लोगों से बहुत प्रेम करता था, उन्हें अपनी आत्मिक सन्तान मानता था; और आत्मिक पिता होने की ज़िम्मेदारियों के अनुसार ही उन से व्यवहार करता था (1 कुरिन्थियों 4:14-21)। पौलुस के सेवकाई के लिए कुरिन्थुस से अन्य स्थानों पर जाने के बाद उस मण्डली में घुस आई अनेक गलतियों को उन पर प्रकट करने और उन का समाधान बताने के लिए, पौलुस ने कुरिन्थुस की मण्डली को यह पत्री लिखी, जिसे हम “1 कुरिन्थियों” के नाम से जानते हैं। इस पत्री में हमारे वर्तमान विषय, प्रभु की मेज़ से सम्बन्धित बातें 1 कुरिन्थियों 11:17-34 में दी गई हैं। पौलुस इस खण्ड का आरम्भ मेज़ में अनुचित रीति से भाग लेने से सम्बन्धित उनकी गलतियों को उन्हें दिखाने, और उनके लिए उन्हें फटकार लगाने के साथ करता है (पद 17-22), जो हमारा आज के विचार का विषय है। यहाँ, फटकार के इस खण्ड, पद 17-22, के आरम्भ (पद 17) में ही पौलुस उन्हें बता देता है कि वह जो कह रहा है, उसका उद्देश्य उन पर कोई अधिकार जताना, उन्हें किसी प्रकार से नीचा दिखाना, या उन पर अपना वर्चस्व दिखाना नहीं है। बल्कि वह उन्हें हानि से बचाना तथा उनकी भलाई करना चाहता है, और इस खण्ड के अन्त में वह उन्हें उस घोर हानि के बारे में भी बताता है, जिस से वह उन्हें सुरक्षित करना चाहता है। पौलुस उन लोगों में प्रभु की मेज़ में भाग लेने से सम्बन्धित पाई जाने वाली चार गलतियों को दिखाता है:

• पद 18: उनमें परस्पर फूट होना और दल बनाना आ गया था, जिसका उल्लेख पौलुस ने पत्री के आरम्भ में 1 कुरिन्थियों 1:10-13 में भी किया था।

• पद 19: उनमें इस दल-बन्दी के साथ ही, कुछ लोगों का अपने आप को “खरा” या औरों से बढ़कर दिखाना भी आ गया था। 

• पद 20-21: उनमें दीनता और एक-मनता नहीं थी, बल्कि जो समृद्ध और सम्पन्न थे वे अपने आर्थिक एवं सामाजिक स्तर का प्रदर्शन अपना ही भोजन लाकर, उसे प्रभु-भोज के नाम से औरों को दिखाते हुए, किन्तु औरों से अलग होकर खाने के द्वारा करने लगे थे। यह प्रभु द्वारा स्थापित मेज़ की सभी शिष्यों के लिए “एक ही रोटी और एक ही प्याला” और सभी के उस ही में सम्मिलित होने का उपहास करना था। 

• पद 22: वे कलीसिया के रूप में एकत्रित होने को, उनका जो निर्धन और दुर्बल थे, अपमानित करने के लिए प्रयोग करने लग गए थे; और इस प्रकार कलीसिया का, जो प्रभु की देह और दुल्हन है (इफिसियों 5:22-30), अपमान करने लग गए थे।

इस खण्ड से हम प्रभु की मेज़ में भाग लेने से पहले, सभी विश्वासियों द्वारा भाग लेने के लिए अपने आप को तैयार करने से सम्बन्धित कुछ अनिवार्य बातों को देखते हैं; और कलीसिया के अगुवे की ज़िम्मेदारी को भी देखते हैं। इन बातों को कलीसिया के लोगों तथा उस कलीसिया के अगुवे, दोनों को समझना और निभाना है। तब ही अगुवा और मण्डली के लोग प्रभु-भोज में योग्य रीति से भाग लेने वाले होंगे। अन्यथा वे अनुचित रीति से भाग लेने के द्वारा प्रभु की देह और लहू के अपराधी ठहरेंगे, और प्रभु की मेज़ से आशीष के नहीं बल्कि दण्ड के भागी होंगे।

मण्डली के लोगों, मसीही विश्वासियों के लिए अनिवार्य है कि वे दीनता और नम्रता के साथ, एक मन होकर, प्रभु की एक देह के समान, प्रभु द्वारा दिए गए “एक ही रोटी और एक ही प्याला” के अनुसार मेज़ में एक साथ मिलकर भाग लें। मण्डली में कोई दल-बन्दी, कोई ऊँच-नीच या बड़ा-छोटा होने की भावना नहीं होनी चाहिए। सभी को यह स्मरण रखना चाहिए कि वे अपनी आर्थिक अथवा सामाजिक स्थिति या किसी भी योग्यता के द्वारा नहीं, बल्कि अन्य सभी के समान पापी होने और प्रभु के अनुग्रह से पाप क्षमा किए जाने के कारण कलीसिया का, प्रभु की देह का भाग बने हैं। इसलिए सांसारिक दृष्टिकोण से उनके आर्थिक और सामाजिक स्तर चाहे कुछ भी हों, परन्तु प्रभु की दृष्टि में वे पापी ही थे, तथा औरों के समान ही, केवल प्रभु के अनुग्रह के द्वारा ही मण्डली में जोड़े गए हैं। इसलिए अन्य सभी के समान, केवल “क्षमा किया हुआ पापी” के अतिरिक्त प्रभु की मण्डली में उनका अन्य कोई पद, कोई स्तर, कोई अधिकार नहीं है। साथ ही मण्डली के सभी सदस्यों  को यह ध्यान भी रखना चाहिए कि प्रभु में विश्वास लाने, उद्धार पाने, नया-जन्म होने पर वे आत्मिक शिशुओं के समान प्रभु के परिवार में प्रवेश करते हैं। उसके बाद, उन्हें आत्मिक जीवन में स्थिर और स्थापित बने रहने के लिए जीवन भर सीखते रहने और बढ़ते रहने की अनिवार्यता है। इस सीखने और बढ़ने में वे गलतियाँ भी करेंगे, और प्रभु के निर्धारित लोग उन्हें उनकी गलतियों को बताएंगे, दिखाएंगे, और उनसे उन गलतियों को सुधारने के लिए कहेंगे; आवश्यकता पड़ने पर फटकार भी लगाएंगे (2 तीमुथियुस 3:16-17; 4:1-5)। मण्डली के सभी लोगों को इस सुधार और शिक्षा को दीनता और नम्रता से स्वीकार करना है, न कि किसी प्रकार के घमण्ड के अन्तर्गत अपने तथा मण्डली के लिए कोई समस्या खड़ी करना है। 

जैसा पौलुस ने किया और समझाया, तथा तीमुथियुस को लिखे गए उपरोक्त निर्देशों में स्पष्ट कहा है, प्रभु द्वारा जिस भी पास्टर या अगुवे को कलीसिया की ज़िम्मेदारी दी गई है, उसकी भी यह ज़िम्मेदारी है कि पौलुस के समान एक आत्मिक पिता बनकर मण्डली के लोगों को यह समझाते और चिताते हुए, कि वह किसी अन्य उद्देश्य से नहीं, बल्कि उनकी भलाई के लिए, और प्रभु के निर्देशों के अनुसार ऐसा कर रहा है, 1 पतरस 5:1-4 का निर्वाह करते हुए मण्डली के सभी लोगों को सिखाए, समझाए, और सुधारे। बहुत से पास्टर या अगुवे, मण्डली के लोगों तथा कलीसिया के अन्य अधिकारियों के डर के कारण यह करने से कतराते हैं, केवल औपचारिकताएं ही पूरी करते हैं। यह न केवल प्रभु का अपमान है, क्योंकि वे प्रभु से अधिक मनुष्यों का भय और आज्ञा मानने के दोषी हैं, और इसके दुष्परिणामों को भुगतेंगे, किन्तु इब्रानियों 13:17 के अनुसार, वे उन्हें सौंपी गई मण्डली के लोगों की स्थिति के लिए भी प्रभु को जवाबदेह होंगे, उसके लिए भी प्रतिफल अथवा दण्ड के भागी होंगे। अब यह उनके ऊपर है कि वे यहाँ कुछ समय के लिए मनुष्यों की अप्रसन्नता का सामना करें लेकिन अनन्तकाल के लिए प्रभु की प्रसन्नता से आशीषित हों; या फिर कुछ समय के लिए यहाँ पर मनुष्यों को प्रसन्न करें, और फिर अनन्तकाल के लिए प्रभु की अप्रसन्नता के दुष्परिणामों का निर्वाह करते रहें।

अगले लेख में हम चौथे बिन्दु, प्रभु की मेज़ के निर्देशों और उद्देश्यों पर विचार करना आरम्भ करेंगे। 

 

यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु, मैं अपने पापों के लिए पश्चातापी हूँ, उनके लिए आप से क्षमा माँगता हूँ। मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मुझे और मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

To live a practical Christian life, Christian Believers must remain truly dedicated to the Lord God, fully committed to Him, and always be obedient to God's Word, the Bible. Usually, this dedication, commitment, and obedience is seen for some time after accepting the Lord as the Savior and receiving salvation. But with the passage of time, as the Lord spoke about the third type of seed in the parable of the sower of the seed, the Christian living of many Christian Believers get suppressed by the things and cares of this world and the deceitfulness of riches, i.e., the desire to earn worldly wealth, store it up, and leave some things for the children (Matthew 13:22). And this not only hinders the Christian Believer from growing in his Christian faith and life, and being useful to his Lord, but it also obstructs all the blessings he can receive from God, both on earth and in heaven. There is only one solution to this problem, to give the primary place and importance in personal lives to obedience to God and His Word. To do this, the teachings of the Bible regarding practical Christian living, must be followed.

In this Bible study we are looking at these teachings related to practical Christian living. Currently we are considering the four points of Acts 2:42, which the early Christian Believers followed steadfastly. They are also known as the four “Pillars of the Christian Living,” and we are now looking at the third pillar, i.e., the “breaking of bread,” or, the partaking of the Lord's Table, or participating in the Lord's Supper. We are looking at the teachings related to the Lord's Table under seven points. In the previous two articles we have considered the first two points; that one does not become a Christian Believer by partaking of the Lord's Table, but those who have become Christian Believers by obeying John 1:12-13, they are to participate in the Holy Communion, regardless of their spiritual age and maturity. We have also very briefly looked at the establishment of this table by the Lord, and have also seen and understood that, contrary to a common but mistaken belief, Judas Iscariot was not included in the first Table established by the Lord. The Apostle Paul, through the Holy Spirit, in 1 Corinthians 11:17-34, has given important teachings regarding partaking of the Lord's Table. Today, as the third point, we will begin learning from this section of God's Word, the Bible.

 3. Preparation for the Lord's Supper – A Rebuke – Verses 17-22

 

Paul had to work hard, face great difficulties, and much opposition for a year and a half, to establish the church in Corinth (Acts 18:1-11). Paul loved that church congregation very much, considered them his spiritual children; and he dealt with them according to his responsibilities as their spiritual father (1 Corinthians 4:14-21). Paul wrote this letter, which we know as “1 Corinthians,” to the church in Corinth to point out and provide solutions to them, to the many errors and wrong-doings that had crept into the church, after Paul had moved from Corinth to other places for his ministry. Teachings related to our current topic, the Lord's Table, are given in this letter in 1 Corinthians 11:17-34. Paul begins this section by pointing out to them their errors in improperly partaking at the table, and rebuking them for their wrongs (vv. 17-22), which we will consider today. Here, right at the beginning of this section of rebuking them in verses 17-22, Paul, in verse 17 lets them know that the purpose of what he is saying is not to assert any authority or dominance over them, nor to put them down in any way, nor to ridicule them. Rather, he is doing this because he wants to protect them from harm and ensure their good. At the end of this section, he also tells them about the grave harm from which he wants to protect them through this correction. In verses 17-22, Paul points out to them the four mistakes that they were making regarding partaking of the Lord's table:

• Verse 18: There were divisions and factions among them; something which Paul had also mentioned at the beginning of this letter, in 1 Corinthians 1:10-13.

• Verse 19: Along with the divisions among them, to gain recognition and authority in the congregation, some of the members were presenting themselves as “approved” or better than others.

• Verses 20-21: There was no humility and one-mindedness among them. Those who were rich and prosperous would show-off their economic and social status by bringing their own food, and in the presence of others, they would eat it as the Lord’s Supper, while staying separate from the others. This was a mockery of the Table established by the Lord for all the disciples to partake from “one bread and one cup” and all were to partake in that same meal.

• Verse 22: They were using their gathering as a church to humiliate those who were poor and weak; And thus they were disrespecting the church, which is the body and bride of the Lord (Ephesians 5:22-30).

From this section we see some essential points for all believers, and the responsibilities of the church leaders to consider, when preparing themselves for partaking of the Lord's Table. It is necessary that both, the people of the church as well as the leaders of that church, understand and implement their respective responsibilities. Only then will the leaders and the congregation be able to participate worthily in the Lord's Supper. Otherwise, by partaking improperly, they will be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord; consequently, they will be harmed, not blessed by partaking from the Lord's table.

It is essential for the people of the congregation, the Christian Believers, all to partake together in humility and meekness, with one mind, as one body of the Lord, in accordance with the “one bread and one cup” given by the Lord. There should be no divisions or factionalism in the congregation, no feeling of being high or low, or being great or small. Everyone should remember that they have become part of the Church, the Body of the Lord, not by their economic or social status or any qualifications, but because of being sinners and having been forgiven by the grace of the Lord, like for anyone else. Therefore, no matter what their economic and social status may be from a worldly perspective, from the Lord's perspective they were only sinners, who had been forgiven and added to the congregation only by His grace, like the others were. So, like everyone else, they have no other position, no status, no authority in the Lord's congregation except that of being a “forgiven sinner.” At the same time, all members of the congregation should also keep in mind that when they come to faith in the Lord, receive salvation, and are Born-Again, they enter the Lord's family as spiritual infants. After that, they are required to continue learning and growing throughout their lives to remain stable and established in their spiritual life. While learning and growing they will also make mistakes, and the Lord's appointed people will point them out to them, and ask them to correct those mistakes; and whenever necessary they will also rebuke them to have them correct their mistakes (2 Timothy 3:16-17; 4:1-5). Everyone in the congregation must accept this correction and teaching with humility and meekness, and they are not to create any problems for themselves and the congregation out of any kind of pride or ego for this.

As Paul did and explained at the beginning of this passage, and has clearly stated in the above instructions to Timothy, any Pastor or leader given the responsibility for the church by the Lord is also responsible to be a spiritual father to the people of the congregation. Like Paul did, the Pastor or the leader should explain and caution that he is doing the corrections only for their own good, and in accordance with the Lord's instructions, to teach, admonish, and correct all in the congregation, and not for any other reasons. He should also keep in mind the instructions of 1 Peter 5:1-4 while fulfilling this responsibility. Many pastors or leaders shy away from doing this out of fear of the people of the congregation and of the other church officials, serving merely to fulfill the formalities. This is not only an insult to the Lord, because they are guilty of fearing and obeying men more than the Lord, and will suffer the consequences of this; but according to Hebrews 13:17, they are also accountable to the Lord for the state of the people of the congregation entrusted to them. They will be held accountable and will be rewarded or punished for it. Now it is up to them to suffer the displeasure of men here for a time but to be blessed with God's favor for eternity; Or please people here for some time, and then continue to suffer the consequences of God's displeasure for eternity.

Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.

    हम पिछले लेखों में देख चुके हैं कि परमेश्वर के वचन बाइबल में, “पवित्र आत्मा से बपतिस्मा”, तो लिखा है, जो मसीही विश्वासी द्वारा मसीही विश्वास में आते ही पवित्र आत्मा को प्राप्त करना है। किन्तु “पवित्र आत्मा का बपतिस्मा” वचन में कहीं नहीं दिया गया है; और यह पूर्णतः बाइबल के बाहर की बात है, जो बाइबल की शिक्षाओं के साथ कोई मेल नहीं रखती है, वरन उनके विरुद्ध है। इसी प्रकार से हमने यह भी देखा है कि “पवित्र आत्मा का बपतिस्मा” की गलत धारणा को पवित्र आत्मा प्राप्त करने के बाद एक अतिरिक्त या दूसरा अनुभव कह कर उसे सही ठहराने के प्रयास भी बाइबल की शिक्षाओं के अनुसार सही नहीं। वाक्यांश “पवित्र आत्मा का बपतिस्मा” और उससे संबंधित अन्य गलत शिक्षाओं को स्वीकार करने से मसीही विश्वासी के विश्वास और सेवकाई के जीवन में और भी दुष्प्रभाव आ जाते हैं। बाहरी रूप में धार्मिकता और भक्ति में लिपटी ये सभी गलत शिक्षाएँ चीनी में लिपटे कड़वे घातक जहर के समान हैं। बाइबल के विरुद्ध शिक्षाओं पर आधारित इस अनुचित धारणा पर थोड़ा गहराई और गंभीरता से विचार करने से इस विचारधारा में निहित दुष्प्रभावों को समझना कुछ कठिन नहीं है। पिछले लेख में हमने देखा था कि किस प्रकार से ये मसीही विश्वासियों में भिन्नता और मतभेद उत्पन्न करने का प्रयास है, उनकी मसीही सेवकाई को अप्रभावी करने की चाल है। आज हम इसी गलत शिक्षा के अन्य छिपे हुए दुष्प्रभावों को देखेंगे।

    जो अपने आप को अलग से पवित्र आत्मा का बपतिस्मा पाए हुए समझते हैं, वे अपने आप को अन्य विश्वासियों से कुछ उच्च (superior) समझने तथा दिखाने लगते हैं; घमण्ड में आ जाते हैं। उन्हें लगता है, और वे जताते भी हैं कि उनमें कुछ विशेष योग्यताएँ हैं, जिन्हें परमेश्वर ने विशेष रीति से पहचाना है और उन्हें पुरस्कृत किया है। और यह उनकी मसीही सेवकाई, तथा संसार में मसीही गवाही और कलीसिया के काम के लिए घातक है, क्योंकि परमेश्वर मनुष्य के घमण्ड के साथ कार्य नहीं कर सकता है, उसके साथ कोई समझौता नहीं कर सकता है। शैतान भी उन्हें गलत शिक्षाओं और बाइबल की गलत व्याख्याओं के द्वारा गलत मार्गों पर डालता और चलाता रहता है, उन से ऐसे व्यवहार करवाता रहता है जो बाइबल की शिक्षाओं के अनुरूप नहीं हैं। ऐसे लोग सामान्यतः मनुष्यों और मनुष्यों की शिक्षाओं का पालन करते हुए देखे जाते हैं, न कि परमेश्वर और उसके वचन का।

    ऐसे लोगों का मुख्य कार्य विचित्र शारीरिक गतिविधियों और हावभाव को करना तथा दर्शाना, तथा मुँह से विचित्र बारंबार दोहराई जाने वाली आवाजों - जिन्हें वे “आत्मिक भाषा” कहते हैं, को निकालना होता है - जब कि इनमें से किसी भी बात का बाइबल से कोई समर्थन नहीं है, केवल उनकी अपनी गढ़ी हुई व्याख्याओं का ही समर्थन है। पापों से पश्चाताप और उद्धार के बारे में बताने और सिखाने की बजाए, उनके प्रचार और शिक्षाओं का मुख्य विषय ये शारीरिक गतिविधियाँ, शारीरिक चंगाइयां, और भौतिक लाभ तथा सांसारिक सामग्री एकत्रित करना होता है। उन्हें उनकी गलती का एहसास करवाना, उन्हें दीन होकर अपने गलत कार्यों के लिए पश्चाताप करवाना, और जिन गलत गतिविधियों एवं व्यवहार में वे पड़ गए हैं उस से उन्हें पश्चाताप के साथ निकालना बहुत कठिन होता है। बल्कि, ये लोग औरों को भी अपने समान बाइबल से प्रतिकूल व्यवहार करने के लिए आकर्षित करने के प्रयास में लगे रहते हैं। 

    इसके विपरीत जिन्होंने यह तथाकथित बपतिस्मा या दूसरा अनुभव नहीं पाया है, और बहुत प्रयास करने के बाद भी उन्हें यह अनुभव नहीं मिला है, और न कभी मिलेगा क्योंकि वास्तविकता में ऐसा कुछ है ही नहीं, उनमें निराशा और हीन भावना आने लगती है; उन्हें अपने विश्वास की वास्तविकता पर और अपने मसीही विश्वासी होने पर संदेह होने लगता है, और वे अपनी सेवकाई में कमज़ोर पड़ने लगते हैं। उन्हें लगने लगता है कि वे परमेश्वर द्वारा पहचाने और पुरस्कृत किए हुए नहीं है। दोनों ही स्थितियों में हानि प्रभु के लोगों और उनकी सेवकाई ही की होती है, और लाभ शैतान को मिलता है। 

    इस विचारधारा से यह गलत समझ भी फैलती है कि अलग सेवकाइयों के लिए अलग वरदानों ही की नहीं वरन अलग या अतिरिक्त सामर्थ्य की भी आवश्यकता होती है। जिसका अभिप्राय यह निकलता है कि कुछ सेवकाई प्रमुख हैं, जिनके लिए विशेष सामर्थ्य की आवश्यकता होती है, और शेष हलकी या गौण हैं, जिनके लिए किसी विशेष सामर्थ्य की आवश्यकता नहीं है। यह फिर से मसीही सेवकों में दरार और ऊँच-नीच की भावना को जन्म देता है। यह सेवकाई के लिए दिए जाने वाले पवित्र आत्मा के वरदानों के समान होने के महत्व का होने की शिक्षा के बिल्कुल विरुद्ध है। वरदान कोई भी हो, सब मिलकर एक ही देह के अंग हैं, कोई बड़ा या छोटा, अथवा महत्वपूर्ण या गौण नहीं है (रोमियों 12:3-5; 1 कुरिन्थियों 12:4-11, 29-30)। परमेश्वर प्रत्येक को उसे सौंपी गई सेवकाई तथा उस से अपेक्षित कार्य के किए जाने के आधार पर प्रतिफल देगा, न कि वरदानों के अधिक अथवा कम महत्वपूर्ण होने की मन-गढ़ंत धारणा के अनुसार (मत्ती 20:9-15)। पवित्र आत्मा की आज्ञाकारिता के द्वारा ही उसकी सामर्थ्य सभी के लिए समान रीति से उपलब्ध होती है। 

    हम अगले लेख में देखेंगे कि किस प्रकार से एक अन्य आधार “कितने बपतिस्मे?” के अनुसार भी, “पवित्र आत्मा का बपतिस्मा” बाइबल की शिक्षाओं से कतई मेल नहीं रखता है।

    यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु, मैं अपने पापों के लिए पश्चातापी हूँ, उनके लिए आप से क्षमा माँगता हूँ। मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मुझे और मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

Baptism OF the Holy Spirit - (5) - Harmful Effects (2)

 

We have seen in previous articles that the Word of God, the Bible, speaks of the "Baptism with the Holy Spirit", which is the same as receiving the Holy Spirit on coming to Faith in the Lord Jesus. But the phrase “Baptism of the Holy Spirit” is nowhere mentioned; not only is it completely out of the Bible, but is also incompatible with, and against, the teachings of the Bible. Similarly, we have also seen that attempts to justify the wrong notion of "Baptism of the Holy Spirit" by calling it an additional or extra experience, after receiving the Holy Spirit is also not correct according to the teachings of the Bible. Accepting the phrase "Baptism of the Holy Spirit" and its related erroneous teachings brings other harmful effects for the Christian Believer in his life of faith and his ministry. All these wrong teachings are like a sugar-coated bitter, deadly, poisonous pill given with an outward appearance of reverence and spirituality. With a little serious consideration and analysis, it is not difficult to uncover and understand the ill effects of this wrong ideology, which is entirely based on unBiblical teachings. In the last article we have seen how it is an attempt to create differences and divisions among Christians to render their Christian life and ministry ineffective. Today we will see some more of these covert harmful effects of this wrong teaching.

Those who believe that they have received an additional “baptism of the Holy Spirit” begin to consider and show themselves off as superior to other believers; develop a sense of pride about their capabilities, that they are specially acknowledged and approved by God and rewarded. Because God cannot work with man's pride, cannot compromise with it, therefore, this attitude of pride becomes very detrimental to their Christian ministry, life and witnessing, and Church work in the world. Satan too continues to mislead them through various wrong interpretations of the Scriptures and having them behave in a manner not consistent with Biblical teachings. Such people are more often seen to be following men and teachings of men, rather than God and His Word. 

The main emphasis of such people is on showing odd physical activities and behavior, and making strange incomprehensible repetitive sounds which they call a “spiritual language” - neither of which has any Biblical support, other than from their own interpretations of the Bible. Instead of teaching and emphasizing about repentance and salvation, the main theme of their preaching and teachings are these physical activities, physical healings, and gaining of material possessions and wealth. It becomes very difficult to have them realize their error, humble themselves, and repent of the wrong practices they have gotten themselves into.  Rather, they try to attract others into doing the same unBiblical things that they are doing. 

On the other hand, those who have not received this so-called baptism or second experience, even after many efforts; and will never have it either, because actually it is non-existent, they begin to feel depressed and develop an inferiority complex. They begin to doubt the genuineness of their faith and their actually being Christian Believers, and thereby they begin to fall short in their spiritual life and Christian ministry, considering themselves as not favored or approved by God. In both cases, the loss is of the Lord's people and His ministry, and the benefit goes to Satan.

This ideology also spreads the misconception that separate ministries require not only separate gifts but also separate or additional powers. Which implies that some ministries are major, requiring special powers, and the rest are minor or secondary, requiring no special powers. This again gives rise to rifts and inferiority complexes among Christian ministers. This is quite contrary to the teaching of the equal importance of the gifts of the Holy Spirit given for the ministry. Whatever be anyone’s individual gift, they are all part of the same body, no one is big or small, neither more important or less important (Romans 12:3-5; 1 Corinthians 12:4-11, 29-30). God will reward each on the basis of the ministry entrusted to him and work expected from him; and not according to the assumption that their gifts are more important or less important (Matthew 20:9-15). It is through obedience to the Holy Spirit that His power is equally available to all.

    We will see in the next article, on another parameter, “how many baptisms?” how “the Baptism of the Holy Spirit” does not match the teachings of the Bible at all.
