क्या व्यवस्था जीवन दे सकती है? – 1

 

पिछले लेखों में, व्यवस्था और उद्धार से संबंधित बातों को देखने, और यह समझने के बाद कि क्यों व्यवस्था मनुष्यों को उद्धार नहीं दे सकती है, अभी हमारे सामने कुछ महत्वपूर्ण प्रश्न शेष हैं। पहला है कि यदि उद्धार व्यवस्था के पालन से नहीं है, तो फिर पुराने और नए नियम में व्यवस्था द्वारा जीवन मिलने की बात क्यों कही गई? और दूसरा है तो फिर व्यवस्था के दिए जाने का क्या उद्देश्य है? और तीसरा प्रश्न है कि आज हम मसीही विश्वासियों, प्रभु के लोगों के लिए, क्या व्यवस्था की कोई उपयोगिता अथवा भूमिका है? आज हम इनमें से पहले प्रश्न, व्यवस्था के द्वारा जीवन मिलने को देखना आरंभ करेंगे।

व्यवस्था, जिसके पालन के द्वारा जीवन मिलने की बात कही गई है, उसके विषय पहले हमें इस बात का ध्यान रखना आवश्यक है कि व्यवस्था क्या है। व्यवस्था क्या है, यह हमें मत्ती 22:35-40 में प्रभु यीशु की व्यवस्थापक से हुए बातचीत, और उस बातचीत के निष्कर्ष से पता चलता है। जैसा हम एक पिछले लेख में देख चुके हैं, प्रभु यीशु ने स्वयं हमारे लिए परिभाषित किया है कि परमेश्वर की व्यवस्था कोई रीति-रिवाज़, धर्म, पर्वों और परंपराओं आदि का पालन करना नहीं है। वरन, व्यवस्था परमेश्वर और मनुष्यों के साथ हमारे संबंध, समर्पण, और व्यवहार को निर्धारित और निर्देशित करने वाले परमेश्वर के नियम, तथा मनुष्यों के प्रति सच्चा और खरा प्रेम रखना है। इन में सबसे ऊपर, सबसे बढ़कर परमेश्वर के प्रति संपूर्ण समर्पण और आज्ञाकारिता, तथा मनुष्यों के प्रति खरा प्रेम है, परमेश्वर की आज्ञाकारिता में इनका सही निर्वाह ही व्यवस्था है। और यही रोमियों 13:8-10 में भी परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा द्वारा कहा गया है। व्यवस्था के विषय यह एक आम, किन्तु बिलकुल गलत धारणा है कि पुराने नियम में, विशेषकर मूसा की पहली पाँच पुस्तकों में दिए गए रीति-रिवाजों का पालन करने, पर्वों को मनाने, भेंटो और बलिदानों को उनके निर्धारित समय और विधि के अनुसार चढ़ाने को ही लोग व्यवस्था का अर्थ और व्यवस्था का पालन करना मान लेते हैं। लेकिन पुराने नियम ही में लिखा गया है कि इन रीति-रिवाजों, पर्वों, भेट-बलिदानों आदि के निर्वाह की केवल औपचारिकता पूरी कर लेने के द्वारा न तो परमेश्वर प्रसन्न होता है और न ही अनन्त जीवन मिल सकता है (यशायाह 1:12-20)।

प्रभु यीशु मसीह ने अनन्त जीवन का मार्ग जानने के लिए उसके पास आए हुए धनी जवान से कहा था, “... पर यदि तू जीवन में प्रवेश करना चाहता है, तो आज्ञाओं को माना कर” (मत्ती 19:17); अर्थात, प्रभु यीशु मसीह के अनुसार, आज्ञाओं के पालन से जीवन में प्रवेश मिल सकता है। प्रभु उस व्यक्ति से जिन आज्ञाओं के पालन की बात कर रहा था, वे पुराने नियम में दी गई परमेश्वर की व्यवस्था से सम्बन्धित एक भाग, दस आज्ञाओं, के पालन के बारे में है। न केवल यहाँ पर प्रभु यीशु मसीह ने, लेकिन पुराने नियम में परमेश्वर ने भी कहा है कि उसके नियम और विधियाँ मानने से उसके लोग जीवित रहेंगे (लैव्यव्यवस्था 18:5; नहेम्याह 9:29; यहेजकेल 20:11; आदि)। और इसकी पुष्टि नए नियम में पवित्र आत्मा ने पौलुस प्रेरित द्वारा भी करवाई है (रोमियों 10:5)। वचन की इन बातों के कारण, यहाँ एक विरोधाभास की सी स्थिति प्रतीत होती है। इस विरोधाभास को समझने और सुलझाने के लिए हम अगले लेख में वचन से कुछ संबंधित बातों को देखेंगे, कि वचन के अनुसार जीवन क्या है, और जीवन में प्रवेश करना, या, जीवन पा लेना से क्या अर्थ है।

परन्तु अभी के लिये, यदि आप अभी भी अपने कर्मों, नियमों तथा विधियों के निर्वाह, और धर्म के पालन के द्वारा परमेश्वर को स्वीकार्य होने के प्रयास कर रहे हैं, तो पिछले लेखों की चर्चा के आधार पर आपको सच्ची प्रतिबद्धता और सच्चे समर्पण के साथ प्रभु यीशु का शिष्य बनने की आवश्यकता है। यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। स्वेच्छा से अपने पापों के लिये पश्चाताप करके, प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु, मैं अपने पापों के लिए पश्चातापी हूँ, उनके लिए आप से क्षमा माँगता हूँ। मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मुझे और मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

Can The Law Give Life? – 1

 

In the preceding articles, having seen the things related to the Law and salvation, and having understood why the Law cannot save us, we still have some important questions to answer. The first is that if salvation is not through the observance of the Law, then why do the Old and New Testaments talk of receiving life through the Law? The second, what is the purpose of giving the Law? And the third question is, today for us the Christians, the people of the Lord, does the law have any utility or role? Today we'll begin to look at the first of these questions, that of receiving life through the Law.

Before understanding this receiving of life, it is necessary to recall and keep in mind what the Law is, about which it has been said that if obeyed, it gives life. We learn what the Law is from the Lord Jesus' conversation with the Lawyer in Matthew 22:35-40, and from the conclusion of this conversation. As we saw in an earlier article, the Lord Jesus Himself has defined for us that the Law of God is not the observance of any customs, religion, festivals and traditions, etc. Rather, the Law is God's rules defining and directing our relationship, submission, and behavior with God and man, and our having sincere love for men. Obeying the Law is obeying these instructions from God, in full submission and sincerity, and in the manner God wants them obeyed. And this is again affirmed by God the Holy Spirit in Romans 13:8-10. It is a common, but absolutely erroneous belief regarding the Law, that it is the observance of the customs set forth in the Old Testament, especially in the first five books of Moses; that it is to observe festivals, to offer gifts and sacrifices at the prescribed time and in the given manner. People assume this to be the meaning of the Law and fulfill the law accordingly. But it is written in the Old Testament itself that God can neither be pleased by man fulfilling these rituals, festivals, offerings, etc. as a mere formality, nor can eternal life be obtained by their ritualistic formal observation (Isaiah 1:12–20).

The Lord Jesus Christ told the rich young man who came to him to know the way to eternal life, “… but if you want to enter life, keep the commandments” (Matthew 19:17); i.e., according to the Lord Jesus Christ, obedience to the commandments can lead to entry into life. The commandments that the Lord was referring to here for obedience, to this person, are the Ten Commandments, a part of the Old Testament related to God's Law in. Not only did the Lord Jesus Christ here, but God also said in the Old Testament that obeying His Laws and statutes would give life to His people (Leviticus 18:5; Nehemiah 9:29; Ezekiel 20:11; etc.). And this is also affirmed by the Holy Spirit in the New Testament through the apostle Paul (Romans 10:5). Because of these points of Scripture, there seems to be a contradiction here. To understand and resolve this contradiction, we will look at some of the relevant and related things from the Scripture in the subsequent articles. We will see what, according to the Scripture is life; and what it means to enter into, or, receive life.

But for now, if you are still trying to become acceptable to God through your works, your fulfilling the laws and rituals, and following religion, then, as we have seen in the previous articles, you need to become a disciple of the Lord Jesus through an honest commitment and surrender to Him. If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord, make your decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now to ensure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Repenting of your sins, and asking the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily and sincerely, surrendering yourself to Him - is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life.  Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.

जिस व्यवस्था के पालन की बात की जा रही है, वह क्या है?

पिछले लेखों में हमने देखा था कि मसीही विश्वास तथा मसीही विश्वासी के लिए परमेश्वर का वचन ही भले और बुरे के मध्य अन्तर की पहचान करवाता है, उसे परिभाषित करता है। सांसारिक मानकों और बातों के आधार पर बाइबल के परमेश्वर और उसकी बातों और निर्देशों का सही आँकलन एवं वैध समीक्षा नहीं की जा सकती है। फिर हमने देखा कि मनुष्य अपने जन्म से ही पाप के साथ संसार में प्रवेश करता है, और उसकी यह दशा उसकी मृत्यु तक उसके साथ बनी रहती है। इसी कारण मनुष्य के जीवन भर उसमें तथा परमेश्वर के मध्य एक दूरी, एक अलगाव की स्थिति बनी रहती है। इसलिए कोई भी मनुष्य अपनी स्वाभाविक, अपरिवर्तित शारीरिक दशा में, न तो परमेश्वर को प्रसन्न कर सकता है, और न ही अपनी किसी भलाई, या अपने कर्मों के द्वारा कुछ ऐसा कर सकता है कि परमेश्वर को स्वीकार्य बन सके। और पिछले लेख में हमने देखा था कि बाइबल की परिभाषा के अनुसार केवल परमेश्वर ही है जो वास्तव में भला है। साथ ही हमने यह भी देखा था कि नए नियम में प्रभु यीशु मसीह ने और पुराने नियम में परमेश्वर यहोवा ने कहा है कि परमेश्वर की व्यवस्था के पालन के द्वारा मनुष्य जीवन में प्रवेश कर सकता है; जो कि अब एक विचित्र विरोधाभास की, एक विडंबना की स्थिति को उत्पन्न करने वाली बात प्रतीत होती है। इसके समाधान के लिए हमें यह समझना आवश्यक है कि जिस व्यवस्था के पालन की बात की जा रही है, वास्तव में वह है क्या?

लोगों को यह असमंजस रहता है कि जब पुराने नियम के लोगों से ज़ोर देकर उस व्यवस्था के पालन के लिए कहा गया था, उनके लिए यह करना अनिवार्य किया गया था, और साथ ही उन्हें परमेश्वर द्वारा आश्वस्त किया गया था कि व्यवस्था के पालन से वे जीवित रहेंगे, तो फिर आज हमारे लिए उसी व्यवस्था का पालन करने में क्या समस्या है? और फिर क्यों, नए नियम में, मसीही विश्वास में, यह इतना ज़ोर देकर कहा जाता है, इस बात के मानने को अनिवार्य किया जाता है कि कर्मों से, व्यवस्था के पालन से, किसी धर्म विशेष अथवा परिवार विशेष, यहाँ तक कि ईसाई धर्म और ईसाई या मसीही परिवार में भी जन्म ले लेने और उसकी मान्यताओं को निभाने से भी उद्धार या परमेश्वर को स्वीकार्य होना संभव ही नहीं है? क्यों सभी को पश्चाताप करना और प्रभु यीशु मसीह से पापों की क्षमा को व्यक्तिगत रीति से अपने लिए प्राप्त करना अनिवार्य कहा जाता है? परमेश्वर की व्यवस्था के होते हुए, और उसके द्वारा जीवन में प्रवेश मिलने की बात को प्रभु परमेश्वर द्वारा कहे जाने के बावजूद, क्यों यह कहा और सिखाया जाता है कि मसीही विश्वासियों को व्यवस्था के पालन की कोई आवश्यकता नहीं है; और व्यवस्था के पालन से कोई भी लाभ नहीं होगा और न ही कोई परमेश्वर के राज्य में प्रवेश करने पाएगा, या परमेश्वर को स्वीकार्य होने पाएगा?

सामान्यतः लोग समझते हैं कि व्यवस्था से अर्थ है पुराने नियम में, मूसा द्वारा लिखित पहली पाँच पुस्तकों में दिए गए भेंट, बलिदानों, पर्वों, विधियों, नियमों आदि का निर्वाह। किन्तु वास्तविकता यह है कि ये बातें व्यवस्था नहीं हैं। ये सभी बातें तो व्यवस्था के मानकों के अनुसार दोषी पाए गए मनुष्यों को उनके पाप-दोष की दशा, और उसके लिए किसी निर्दोष के उनके पापों को अपने ऊपर उठाने और उनके लिए अपना जीवन बलिदान देने को स्मरण करवाते रहने की विभिन्न प्रक्रियाएं हैं, जो प्रभु यीशु मसीह के जीवन, कार्य और बलिदान के पुराने नियम में दिए गए विभिन्न प्रतीक एवं प्ररूप हैं। ये परमेश्वर के कार्यों और गुणों को स्मरण करवाने वाली विधियाँ हैं; ये विधियाँ पाप को केवल स्मरण करवा सकती हैं, कभी पाप को हटा नहीं सकती हैं (इब्रानियों 10:3-4)। 

तो फिर व्यवस्था क्या है? प्रभु यीशु मसीह द्वारा, उनसे परमेश्वर की सबसे बड़ी आज्ञा के विषय प्रश्न करने वाले एक व्यवस्थापक को दिए गए उत्तर से ही इसे समझिए और जानिए: “उसने उस से कहा, तू परमेश्वर अपने प्रभु से अपने सारे मन और अपने सारे प्राण और अपनी सारी बुद्धि के साथ प्रेम रख। बड़ी और मुख्य आज्ञा तो यही है और उसी के समान यह दूसरी भी है, कि तू अपने पड़ोसी से अपने समान प्रेम रख। ये ही दो आज्ञाएं सारी व्यवस्था और भविष्यद्वक्ताओं का आधार है” (मत्ती 22:37-40; 35-40 + रोमियों 13:9)।

यहाँ प्रभु यीशु, अर्थात, उस जीवते वचन के द्वारा जो देहधारी हुआ और जिसने हमारे बीच में निवास किया(यूहन्ना 1:1, 14), स्वयं हमारे लिए परिभाषित किया है कि परमेश्वर की व्यवस्था कोई रीति-रिवाज़, धर्म, पर्वों और परंपराओं, और अनुष्ठानों आदि का पालन करना नहीं है। वरन, परमेश्वर और मनुष्यों के साथ हमारे संबंध, समर्पण, और व्यवहार को, जिसमें सबसे ऊपर, सबसे बढ़कर परमेश्वर के प्रति संपूर्ण समर्पण और आज्ञाकारिता, तथा मनुष्यों के प्रति खरा प्रेम है, व्यवस्था इन्हें निर्धारित और निर्देशित करने वाले परमेश्वर के नियम हैं।

मनुष्य के परमेश्वर के साथ तथा अन्य मनुष्यों के साथ व्यवहार और निर्वाह करने वाले परमेश्वर के इन नियमों तथा इनसे संबंधित उसकी बातों का एक थोड़ा सा विस्तृत रूप है निर्गमन 20:1-17 में दी गई दस आज्ञाएँ। बहुत ही संक्षेप में, इन दस आज्ञाओं में से पहली चार (20:1-11) परमेश्वर के साथ मनुष्य के संबंध और व्यवहार के बारे में हैं; और शेष छः (20:12-17) मनुष्यों के मनुष्य के साथ संबंध और व्यवहार के बारे में हैं। यहाँ दी गई ये दस आज्ञाएँ, एक तरह से किसी पुस्तक के अध्यायों के शीर्षकों के समान हैं; शीर्षक केवल अध्याय में क्या है उसका संकेत करता है; और वर्णन उस अध्याय के लेख में मिलता है। इसी प्रकार से ये आज्ञाएँ दस भिन्न अध्यायों को दिखाती हैं, और उन अध्यायों के शीर्षकों से संबंधित शेष वर्णन परमेश्वर के वचन के अन्य स्थानों पर इन दोनों संबंधों और व्यवहार की बातों में होकर प्रदान किया गया है।

इसीलिए जब भी इस्राएली उस वास्तविक व्यवस्था के पालन से भटक कर केवल रीति-रिवाजों, पर्वों, त्यौहारों, विधियों को मानने तथा औरों को मनवाने तक सीमित हो गए, तब साथ ही वे नैतिक और धार्मिक पतन में चले गए, परमेश्वर के प्रकोप के भागी हो गए (यशायाह 1:11-20; मलाकी 1:10), और बिलकुल यही मानसिकता तथा परमेश्वर के साथ संबंधों की दशा वर्तमान के ईसाई या मसीही समाज के साथ भी है। प्रभु यीशु मसीह के पृथ्वी की सेवकाई के दिनों में भी परमेश्वर का मंदिर था। वहाँ सारे पर्व और विधियाँ माने और मनाए जाते थे, वचन के अनुसार भेंट और बलिदान चढ़ाए जाते थे, वचन पढ़ा, सुना और सिखाया जाता था; किन्तु सब ऊपरी था। लोगों के, यहाँ तक कि उनके धर्म-गुरुओं के भी मन परमेश्वर से दूर थे (मत्ती 15:8); और प्रभु ने अपने मंदिर को डाकुओं की खोह कहा (मत्ती 21:13)! धर्म के अगुवों ने ही मंदिर, आराधना, और व्यवस्था के पालन की वास्तविकता को भ्रष्ट कर दिया था, उसे एक औपचारिकता, परंपरा का निर्वाह मात्र बना दिया था। वे परमेश्वर के वचन और नियमों के स्थान पर अपने ही बनाए हुए नियमों को परमेश्वर के नियम और विधियाँ कह कर सिखाया करते थे (मत्ती 15:3-9; यशायाह 29:3; साथ ही यशायाह 1:1-17 भी देखें)। और परमेश्वर के उसी मंदिर के अंदर, धर्म के अगुवों ने प्रभु परमेश्वर यीशु मसीह को पकड़वाने और मार डालने का षड्यंत्र रचा, और कार्यान्वित करवाया। क्या आज यही दशा ईसाई या मसीही समाज की भी नहीं है; जहाँ हर डिनॉमिनेशन, मत, और समुदाय के, परमेश्वर के वचन से अतिरिक्त, अपने ही बनाए हुए नियम और विधियाँ हैं। ये सभी डिनॉमिनेशन, मत, और समुदाय परमेश्वर के वचन के पालन से अधिक महत्व अपनी ही बातों के पालन को महत्व देते हैं, और केवल अपनी ही बातों को सही, तथा अन्य को गलत बताते और सिखाते हैं; तथा सभी के आराधना स्थलों पर, उनके अगुवों के द्वारा औरों की आलोचना और उनसे संघर्ष की योजनाएं बनाई जाती हैं, कार्यान्वित करवाई जाती हैं?

अगले लेख में हम देखेंगे कि व्यवस्था क्यों हमें उद्धार नहीं दे सकती है, उसकी क्या सीमाएं हैं; और फिर यह भी देखेंगे कि फिर भी व्यवस्था के पालन के द्वारा जीवन में प्रवेश करने की बात क्यों कही गई है। किन्तु अभी के लिए, आज जो भी अपने आप को अपने धर्म और डिनॉमिनेशन, उसके नियमों, परंपराओं, और विधियों का पालन करने वाले होने के कारण अपने आप को परमेश्वर की दृष्टि में भला और उसे स्वीकार्य समझते हैं, उन्हें सचेत होकर वास्तविकता को समझने और स्वीकार करने (1 थिस्सलुनीकियों 5:21; 1 कुरिन्थियों 10:12; 2 कुरिन्थियों 13:5), और पवित्र आत्मा के द्वारा पौलुस प्रेरित द्वारा लिखवाई गई बात, “इसलिये परमेश्वर अज्ञानता के समयों में आनाकानी कर के, अब हर जगह सब मनुष्यों को मन फिराने की आज्ञा देता है” (प्रेरितों 17:30) का पालन करने की आवश्यकता है - यह परमेश्वर का सुझाव या इच्छा मात्र नहीं, वरन उसकी आज्ञा है; और हर जगह सब मनुष्यों में ईसाई या मसीही समाज के लोग भी ठीक वैसे ही आ जाते हैं जैसे अन्य किसी भी अन्य धर्म अथवा समाज के लोग। 

 यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

English Translation

What is the Law that is being talked about?

           

    In previous articles we have seen that in the Christian faith and for the Christian Believers it is God's Word that defines good, and identifies the difference between good and evil. The God of the Bible and His Word and instructions cannot be correctly evaluated and assessed on the basis of worldly standards and things. Then we saw that man, right from his birth, enters the world with sin and this condition remains with him till his death. That is why throughout the life of man there remains a separation between him and God. Therefore, no man, in his natural, unregenerate physical condition, can ever please God; nor by his goodness, or by any of his actions, can he do anything to become acceptable to God. And in the previous article, we saw that by the Biblical definition it is only God who really is good. We also saw that in the New Testament the Lord Jesus Christ, and in the Old Testament the God Jehovah have said that man could enter life by obeying God's Law; which now appears to be a strange paradox, an inexplicable situation. To solve this, it is necessary for us to understand what exactly is the Law that is being talked about?

    People are confused that when for Old Testament people it was made mandatory to keep that Law, it was strongly emphasized that they do so, and at the same time they were assured by God that by keeping the Law they would live, then what's the problem with our obeying and following the same Law today? And then why, in the New Testament, in the Christian faith, is it emphasized so much that it is necessary to realize and accept that by good deeds, by the observance of the Law, by being born in a particular religion or family, even being born in Christian religion or in a Christian family and following its beliefs does not ever make a person saved or acceptable to God? Why is it necessary for everyone to individually repent and personally receive the forgiveness of sins from the Lord Jesus Christ? Why then is it said and taught that Christians have no need to keep the Law, despite it being God's Law, and the Lord God speaking of entering life by observing it? And why is it taught in the New Testament that no one will benefit from keeping the Law, nor by observing it will anyone be able to enter the kingdom of God, or be acceptable to God?

    The general understanding of the people is that the Law of the Old Testament, means the observance of the offerings, sacrifices, festivals, statutes, ordinances given in the first five books of Moses. But the reality is that these things are not the Law. All these things are various processes of reminding us of being guilty according to the standards of the Law, about the state of our sinfulness, and the fact for us an innocent animal must bear our sins and its life be sacrificed; all of these are various symbols and forms given in the Old Testament of the life, work and sacrifice of the Lord Jesus Christ. These are rituals to remind us of the works and qualities of God. Though these rituals and methods can repeatedly remind us of our sin, but they can never permanently take away our sin (Hebrews 10:3-4).

    Then what is the Law? Let us understand and learn this from the answer given by the Lord Jesus Christ to a Scribe, who asked him about the greatest commandment of God: “Jesus said to him, "'You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.' This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like it: 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself.' On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets” (Matthew 22:37-40; see from 35-40 + Romans 13:9).

    Here the Lord Jesus, i.e. The Living Word who became flesh and dwelt among us (John 1:1, 14), has Himself defined for us that the Law of God is not the observance of any customs, religion, festivals, traditions, and rituals etc. Rather, God's Law is that which prescribes and directs our sincere relationship, submission, dedication, and behavior with God and with man, having a sincere love for other people. A commitment to God and His Word which is over and above all else.

    The Ten Commandments in Exodus 20:1–17 are a slightly expanded version of these laws that guide and direct our attitude and behavior towards God and other human beings, in the manner God wants it done. Very briefly, the first four of these Ten Commandments (20:1-11) are about man's relationship and behavior with God; And the remaining six (20:12-17) are about mans' relationships and interactions with other people. The Ten Commandments here are, in a way, similar to the headings of the chapters of a book; The heading only refers to what is in the chapter; while the details are found in the text of that chapter. Similarly, these commandments refer to ten different chapters of our association and relationship with God and men, and the text or content of these chapters, i.e., these aspects of our relationships is provided in other places of God's Word.

    That is why whenever the Israelites deviated from the observance of the actual spirit of the Law, and only formally fulfilled the customs, feasts, festivals, rituals, i.e. merely the text of the Law, they then fell into moral and religious decline, and ended up being subjects of the wrath of God (Isaiah 1:11-20; Malachi 1:10). Exactly the same mentality and state of relationship with God is also seen in the present-day Christians and Christian society. Even in the days of the earthly ministry of the Lord Jesus Christ, there was the Temple of God, where all festivals and ceremonies were held and celebrated, offerings and sacrifices were made according to the Law, the God’s Word was read, heard and taught; but everything was ritualistic. The minds not only of the people, but even of their religious leaders, were far from God (Matthew 15:8); And the Lord called his temple a den of thieves (Matthew 21:13)! The leaders of the religion had corrupted the stature of the temple, worship, and observance of the Law, making it a formality, a mere exercise of tradition. Instead of God's Word, they taught the people their own rules and regulations, their contrived words and laws (Matthew 15:3-9; Isaiah 29:3; see also Isaiah 1:1-17). And inside the same Temple of God, religious leaders plotted and executed a conspiracy to betray and kill the Lord God Jesus Christ. Is not the same condition rampant today amongst Christians and in the Christian society also, where every denomination, creed, and community, has its own set of rules and regulations, all apart from the Word of God. All of these denominations, sects, and communities value the observance of one's own words more than the observance of the Word of God, and teach only one's own words to be right, and of others to be wrong. And at everyone's places of worship, plans are made and implemented by their leaders to criticize others and oppose them?

    In the next article we will see why the law cannot save us, what are its limitations; and then we will also see why it has been said that by following the Law one can enter life. But for now, those who today consider themselves to be good and acceptable in the eyes of God, by virtue of their being adherents of their religion and denomination, its rules, traditions, and ordinances, they must seriously introspect and consciously understand the reality (1 Thessalonians 5:21; 1 Corinthians 10:12; 2 Corinthians 13:5), and accept what by the Holy Spirit the apostle Paul wrote, "Truly, these times of ignorance God overlooked, but now commands all men everywhere to repent” (Acts 17:30). This is not merely a suggestion, or merely a thought expressed by God, but it is His command; and in “all men everywhere”, Christians or people of Christian society are also included in just the same way as people of any other religion or society.

    If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord, make your decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now to ensure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. Where there is obedience to the Lord, respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. By asking the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily submit yourself sincerely and with a committed heart to his Lordship in your life - this is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You have to say only a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ, willingly and meaningfully, while simultaneously completely committing your life to Him. You can say this prayer of repentance and submission in a manner something like this, “Lord Jesus, I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself for their forgiveness and because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, you rose again on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God. Please forgive my sins, take me under your shelter, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and submissive heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.

बाइबल के अनुसार भला कौन है?

सामान्यतः मनुष्य यह सोचता है कि भले काम करने के द्वारा, भला व्यवहार करने के द्वारा, लोगों में अपनी भलाई के कारण प्रसिद्धि और प्रशंसा का पात्र बनने के द्वारा, वह परमेश्वर को भी प्रभावित कर लेगा, उसे अपने पक्ष में कर लेगा, और उसे स्वीकार्य हो जाएगा। किन्तु मनुष्य की यह धारणा उसकी कल्पना मात्र ही है, उससे अधिक कुछ नहीं। हमने पिछले दो लेखों में परमेश्वर के वचन बाइबल में से देखा है परमेश्वर के दृष्टिकोण से, उसके वचन की शिक्षाओं के अनुसार भला और परमेश्वर को स्वीकार्य होने का निर्णय मनुष्यों के माप-दंडों के अनुसार नहीं, वरन परमेश्वर के वचन में दिए गए उसके अनन्तकाल के लिए स्थापित और अटल मानकों के अनुसार होगा। साथ ही हमने बाइबल से यह भी देखा है कि अपनी स्वाभाविक, अपरिवर्तित शारीरिक दशा में मनुष्य अपनी माँ के गर्भ में आने से लेकर अपनी मृत्यु तक पाप ही में रहता है, और अपनी पाप की उस दशा में परमेश्वर को अस्वीकार्य रहता है। पाप की इस दशा में रहते हुए मनुष्य अपने प्रयासों से ऐसा कुछ भी नहीं कर सकता है जो उसे धर्मी, पाप से शुद्ध, और परमेश्वर से संगति रखने योग्य, परमेश्वर को स्वीकार्य बन सके। मनुष्य की वास्तविक दशा दिखाने के साथ ही, बाइबल यह भी बताती है कि वास्तव में भला कौन है। 

बाइबल की समझने में कठिन बातों पर विचार करते समय हमें यह भी कभी नहीं भूलना चाहिए कि परमेश्वर सिद्ध, पवित्र, पक्षपात रहित, और खरा है, न्यायी है। उसकी बातों में, उसके न्याय में कोई पक्षपात, दोगलापन, या खोट नहीं है; चाहे उसकी बातें और न्याय हमारी समझ में आएं अथवा न आएं।

प्रभु यीशु मसीह ने ही यह भी बताया कि उनके अनुसार, अर्थात परमेश्वर के अनुसार भला कौन है: “यीशु ने उस से कहा, तू मुझे उत्तम क्यों कहता है? कोई उत्तम नहीं, केवल एक अर्थात परमेश्वर” (मरकुस 10:18)। प्रभु यीशु द्वारा कही गई इस बात में, मूल यूनानी भाषा के जिस शब्द का अनुवाद “उत्तम” किया गया है, उसका शब्दार्थ है good/भला और अंग्रेजी के अनुवादों में यहाँ पर “good” शब्द ही प्रयोग किया गया है।  

परमेश्वर के वचन से प्राप्त होने वाली भले होने की इस परिभाषा से एक बात और निकलकर सामने आती है, इस परिभाषा में निहित है कि जो भी भला होगा, वह स्वतः ही परमेश्वर के तुल्य, या समान ठहरेगा। यह न केवल किसी भी मनुष्य के लिए, उसके किसी भी प्रयास के द्वारा बन पाना असंभव है, वरन मनुष्य की पापमय दशा से उसके भले न होने की बात की भी पुष्टि है, जिसे हमने पिछले लेख में देखा है। 

 अब यहाँ पर एक बड़ा विरोधाभास आता हुआ लगता है; प्रभु यीशु मसीह ने अनन्त जीवन का मार्ग जानने के लिए उसके पास आए हुए धनी जवान से कहा था, “उसने उस से कहा, तू मुझ से भलाई के विषय में क्यों पूछता है? भला तो एक ही है; पर यदि तू जीवन में प्रवेश करना चाहता है, तो आज्ञाओं को माना कर” (मत्ती 19:17); अर्थात, प्रभु यीशु मसीह के अनुसार, आज्ञाओं के पालन से जीवन में प्रवेश मिल सकता है। प्रभु जिन आज्ञाओं के पालन की बात कर रहा था, वे पुराने नियम में दी गई परमेश्वर की व्यवस्था का एक भाग, दस आज्ञाओं के पालन के बारे में है। 

न केवल यहाँ पर प्रभु यीशु मसीह ने, लेकिन पुराने नियम में परमेश्वर ने भी कहा है कि उसके नियम और विधियाँ मानने से उसके लोग जीवित रहेंगे (लैव्यव्यवस्था 18:5; नहेम्याह 9:29; यहेजकेल 20:11; आदि), जिसकी पुष्टि नए नियम में पवित्र आत्मा ने पौलुस प्रेरित द्वारा भी करवाई है (रोमियों 10:5)। 

अब एक ओर वचन कह रहा है कि व्यवस्था के पालन से जीवन है, दूसरी ओर यह भी कह रहा है कि उद्धार कर्मों से नहीं विश्वास से है, और कोई मनुष्य भला नहीं है, भलाई नहीं कर सकता है? तो इस विरोधाभास का समाधान क्या है?

इसके लिए दूसरा प्रश्न जानना और समझना बहुत महत्वपूर्ण है, कि जिस व्यवस्था के पालन की बात की जा रही है, वह व्यवस्था क्या है? यदि हम इस आधारभूत प्रश्न को नहीं समझेंगे, तो हम गलतियों में पड़ जाएंगे, शैतान द्वारा भरमा और भटका दिए जाएंगे, जैसा कि वह बहुत से लोगों के साथ करता चला आ रहा है।

व्यवस्था क्या है, इसे हम अगले लेख में देखेंगे। इन बातों की सही समझ के लिए हमें यह ध्यान रखना अनिवार्य है कि परमेश्वर न झूठ बोलता है, न ही उसमें कोई दोगलापन है, और न ही उसके वचन में कोई विरोधाभास है। उसके वचन की बातों की सही समझ के लिए किसी भी बात को उसके संदर्भ से बाहर लेकर उसकी कोई भी व्याख्या कभी नहीं करनी चाहिए। साथ ही, हमेशा ही उस विषय से संबंधित वचन में दी गई अन्य बातों का भी ध्यान रखते हुए यह सुनिश्चित करके व्याख्या करनी चाहिए कि वचन की सभी बातों का उसमें समावेश हो, किसी भी बात को वह व्याख्या काटे नहीं, वह व्याख्या बाइबल की किसी भी सच्चाई के ज़रा भी विमुख न हो। मसीह के सभी अनुयायियों को सदा ही परमेश्वर के वचन पर पूरा भरोसा बनाए रखना चाहिए। इसलिए यदि आप कभी भी किसी भी रीति से परमेश्वर के वचन पर अविश्वास के, उसकी गलत व्याख्या के, उससे संबंधित गलत शिक्षाओं को बताने या सिखाने के दोषी हैं, तो प्रभु के समाने अपनी इस गलती को स्वीकार करके, उसके लिए पश्चाताप करके, प्रभु से उसके लिए क्षमा माँग लीजिए, और उससे विनती कीजिए के आपको वचन की सही समझ प्रदान करे।

यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

English Translation

Who is good according to the Bible?

    Generally people think that by doing good deeds, through good behaviour, because of their being praised and being appreciated by others for their goodness, they can also impress God, get His favor, and make themselves acceptable to Him. But this is nothing more than man’s imagination, his hoping against hope for the impossible. We've seen in the last two articles, from God's Word, the Bible, that from God's point of view, the decision of what is good and acceptable to God is only according to the teachings of His eternal, established and unchanging standards given in His unchanging Word; not according to the standards of man. At the same time, as we have also seen from the Bible, every person in his natural, unregenerate physical condition is in sin from the time of his conception in his mother's womb, until his death; and because of that state of his sin, he remains unacceptable to God. Because of this inherent, indwelling state of sin, there is nothing man can do by his own efforts to make himself righteous, cleansed of sin, and worthy of fellowship with God, acceptable to God. The Bible, besides showing the true condition of man, also reveals who actually is good.

    As an aside, before proceeding further, we need to always bear in mind that when considering things difficult to understand in the Bible, we should never forget that God is perfect, holy, non-partisan, upright, and just. There is no partiality, hypocrisy, or error in what He says, nor in his justice; whether or not we are able to understand His words, instructions, and His justice.

    The Lord Jesus Christ has said who is good according to Him, i.e., according to God: “So Jesus said to him, "Why do you call Me good? No one is good but One, that is, God." (Mark 10:18). Another thing apparent from this definition of good given in God's Word, is that implied in this definition by the Lord Jesus is the fact that whoever is good, will automatically be God, or equal to God. Not only is this impossible for any person to be, despite any of his efforts, but it is also an affirmation of man's inability to be good due to his sinful condition, as we have seen in the previous article.

    Now there seems to be a big contradiction here; The Lord Jesus Christ told the rich young man who had come to Him, seeking the way to eternal life, “So He said to him, "Why do you call Me good? No one is good but One, that is, God. But if you want to enter into life, keep the commandments” (Matthew 19:17); i.e., according to the Lord Jesus Christ’s assurance in this statement, it seems that obedience to the commandments can provide entry into life. The commandments that the Lord is talking about here are the Ten Commandments, a part of God's Law in the Old Testament.

    Not just the Lord Jesus Christ here, but God also said in the Old Testament that obeying His Law and statutes would ensure life for His people (Leviticus 18:5; Nehemiah 9:29; Ezekiel 20:11; etc.); and this is confirmed In the New Testament by the Holy Spirit through the apostle Paul (Romans 10:5).

    Now on the one hand, God’s Word is saying that there is life in following the Law; and on the other hand, it is also saying that salvation is not by works but by faith, and no man is good, cannot do good? So, what is the solution to this paradox?

    For this it is very important to know and understand, that what is the Law that is being talked about here; and what does the call to obeying the Law mean? If we do not understand this fundamental question, we will fall into error, be misguided and misled by Satan, as he has been doing to so many people.

    What the Law is, we will see it in the next article. For a proper understanding of these things, we must keep in mind that God does not lie, there is no hypocrisy in Him, and there is no contradiction in His Word. For a proper understanding of the meaning of His Word One should never take anything out of its context and interpret it out of its context. At the same time, one must always take into account the other things in the Scriptures relating to that subject, making sure that the interpretation satisfies all the things stated in the Scriptures about the subject. That interpretation should never contradict any part of God’s Word; neither should it in any manner be inconsistent with anything in any part of the Bible, and it should not deviate even the slightest from the truth of God’s Word. All followers of Christ must at all times have complete faith in the Word of God. So, if you have ever been guilty of distrusting God's word in any way, of misinterpreting it, or of telling or giving wrong teachings, then by confessing your mistake to the Lord, and repenting for it, apologize to Him for it, and ask Him to give you a proper understanding of the Word.

    If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord, make your decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now to ensure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. Where there is obedience to the Lord, respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. By asking the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily submit yourself sincerely and with a committed heart to his Lordship in your life - this is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You have to say only a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ, willingly and meaningfully, while simultaneously completely committing your life to Him. You can say this prayer of repentance and submission in a manner something like this, “Lord Jesus, I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself for their forgiveness and because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, you rose again on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God. Please forgive my sins, take me under your shelter, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and submissive heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.
