परमेश्वर के वचन के स्वरूप के निहितार्थ - 1

 

पिछले लेख में हमने देखा था कि बाइबल अनुपम है, न तो इसे सँसार की किसी भी अन्य पुस्तक के समान देखा जा सकता है, और न ही सँसार की किसी पुस्तक से इस की तुलना की जा सकती है, क्योंकि यह परमेश्वर के द्वारा दी गयी है, पवित्र आत्मा की प्रेरणा द्वारा लिखी गई है, परमेश्वर का जीवता, प्रतिक्रिया देने और संवाद करने वाला वचन है, और स्वयं प्रभु यीशु का ही एक स्वरूप है (यूहन्ना 1:1, 14; 2 तीमुथियुस 3:16-17), जिसे एक उद्देश्य से हमारे हाथों में रखा गया है। बाइबल के इन तथ्यों का अधिकांश लोग एहसास नहीं रखते हैं और न ही उन्हें कोई मान्यता देते हैं; यहाँ तक कि बाइबल पढ़ने वाले और बाइबल में विश्वास रखने वाले अधिकांश मसीही भी नहीं। इसीलिए, यह प्रत्येक मसीही की ज़िम्मेदारी है कि उसे परमेश्वर के जीवते वचन बाइबल का भण्डारी होना है, ताकि वह इसका ध्यान रखे कि परमेश्वर के जीवित वचन बाइबल को उसका उचित आदर और श्रद्धा प्राप्त हो। इस भण्डारीपन का तात्पर्य है यह सुनिश्चित करना कि बाइबल और उसके सत्यों के साथ कभी कोई छेड़-छाड़ न हो, उनका दुरुपयोग, गलत व्याख्या, उनसे अनुचित व्यवहार कभी न हो, और वे हमेशा ही उनके वास्तविक सच्चे स्वरूप में औरों के सामने प्रस्तुत किए जाएं।

अभी के लिए, हम पहले परमेश्वर के वचन बाइबल के इस स्वरूप और स्वभाव, जिसे हमने पिछले लेख में देखा है, की समझ में निहित कुछ अति महत्वपूर्ण तात्पर्यों को देखेंगे। फिर, बाद में, हम उन विभिन्न बातों को देखेंगे जिन्हें शैतान, बहुधा चालाकी से और अनजाने में ले आता है। और फिर ये गलतियाँ बाइबल में लिखी बातों, उनके उपयोग, उनसे संबंधित व्यवहार और समझ के बारे में वचन की सेवकाई करने में सामान्यतः प्रचार और प्रसार की जाती हैं। यहाँ तक कि इन गलतियों को कई बहुत ज्ञानवान, जाने-पहचाने, आदरणीय, भली मनसा रखने वाले भक्त, समर्पित, नया-जन्म पाए हुए मसीही विश्वासी प्रचारकों और शिक्षकों की सेवकाई में भी देखा जाता है।

आज हमारे हाथों में परमेश्वर का पूर्ण वचन है, जो पुराने नियम के समयों में नहीं था। उस समय, परमेश्वर अपने लोगों से बातें अपने नबियों और चुने हुए कुछ लोगों में होकर करता था। परमेश्वर उनसे सीधे बात करने के द्वारा, या दर्शनों अथवा स्वप्नों के द्वारा अपनी बात बताता था (गिनती 12:6; दानिय्येल 1:17; 7:1)। दूसरे शब्दों में, परमेश्वर सभी लोगों से सीधे बात नहीं करता था, लेकिन केवल कुछ चुने हुए लोगों में होकर सभी के लाभ के लिए अपनी बात व्यक्त करता था। पवित्र आत्मा उन नबियों और परमेश्वर के चुने हुए लोगों से उसे, जो परमेश्वर ने उन्हें बताया था, व्यक्तिगत पुस्तकों के रूप में लिखवाता था; और इन पुस्तकों को यहूदी पवित्र शास्त्र के रूप में उपयोग करते थे। प्रभु यीशु मसीह ने भी अपनी पृथ्वी की सेवकाई के समय इन प्रेरणा द्वारा लिखी गई पुस्तकों में से ही पढ़ा और हवाला दिया (लूका 4:3-12, 16-21)। 

तो, पुराने नियम के समय में भी, परमेश्वर हर किसी से, प्रत्येक से बात नहीं करता था, वरन थोड़े से चुने हुए लोगों में होकर सभी के लिए अपनी बात कहता था। वह जन-सामान्य से, और अपने लोगों, इस्राएलियों से, अपने नबियों के द्वारा बातें करता था और उसने उनके द्वारा लिखी हुई पुस्तकों को लोगों को उपलब्ध करवाया था जिस से कि उन पुस्तकों का उपयोग उस समय के लोगों तथा आने वाली पीढ़ियों के लिए परमेश्वर के बारे में सीखने, उन्हें उसकी इच्छा बताने, उनका मार्गदर्शन करने, उन्हें शिक्षा देने, और उन्हें सुधारने के लिए किया जाए (व्यवस्थाविवरण 6:1-9; यहोशू 1:8; 1 शमूएल 3:21; 2 इतिहास 34:18-19, 21, 24-27)। पहली कलीसिया के समय, प्रथम ईस्वी में, सुसमाचार, पत्रियाँ, और अन्य पुस्तकें लिखी गईं; ये भी कुछ ही लोगों – प्रेरितों और कुछ चुने हुए लोगों के द्वारा सभी के उपयोग और लाभ के लिए लिखी गईं। पुराने और नए नियम की इन सभी पुस्तकों को पवित्र आत्मा की अगुवाई में संकलित किया गया, जिस से हमारे लिए परमेश्वर का सम्पूर्ण वचन, जिसे हम “बाइबल” कहते हैं, उपलब्ध हुआ।

हम अगले लेख में भी परमेश्वर के वचन के स्वरूप से सम्बन्धित बातों और उनके निहित अर्थों पर विचार करना ज़ारी रखेंगे। परन्तु, अभी के लिये विचार कीजिये कि क्या आप वास्तव में सीधे परमेश्वर और उसके वचन के साथ जुड़े हैं? या, आप भी किसी अन्य की व्याख्या और समझ के आधार पर परमेश्वर और उसके वचन से व्यवहार कर रहे हैं? परमेश्वर आप से सीधे संपर्क में रहना चाहता है, न कि किसी अन्य मनुष्य के माध्यम से।

 

यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। स्वेच्छा से अपने पापों के लिये पश्चाताप करके, प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु, मैं अपने पापों के लिए पश्चातापी हूँ, उनके लिए आप से क्षमा माँगता हूँ। मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मुझे और मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

Implications of the Nature of God’s Word - 1

 

In the previous article we have seen how The Bible is unique, can neither be seen as, nor compared with any other book of the world, since it is God breathed, written under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit of God, it is the living Word of God that interacts and communicates, and is a form of the Lord Jesus Christ Himself (John 1:1, 14; 2 Timothy 3:16-17), that has been placed in our hands for a certain purpose. These Biblical facts are seldom realized and acknowledged by most people; even by most of the Bible reading and Bible believing Christians. Therefore, it is every Christian Believer’s responsibility, his stewardship to ensure that God’s Living Word The Bible is given its due honor and reverence. This stewardship means ensuring that The Bible and its truths are never tampered with, are not misused, misinterpreted, mishandled, and are always presented in their actual form to others.

For now, we will first look at some very important implications that are inherent in this understanding about the form and nature of God’s Word The Bible that we have seen in the previous article. Then, later, we will consider the various ways in which Satan induces, often subtly and inadvertently, the commonly seen wrong practices and understandings about the Bible and about the things written in it. These errors are then preached and propagated through the ministry of the Word of God. These errors can even be seen in and through the ministry of some quite knowledgeable, well-known, well-respected, well-meaning, pious, committed Born-Again Christian Believers, preachers and teachers of God’s Word.

Now, we have the complete Word of God in our hands, which was not so in the Old Testament times. At that time God spoke to His people through His Prophets and chosen people. God spoke to them either directly, or through visions and dreams, to communicate what He wanted to say to them and through them (Numbers 12:6; Daniel 1:17; 7:1). In other words, God did not communicate with everyone directly, but only through a few that were chosen by Him for the benefit of all. The Holy Spirit had the Prophets and chosen people of God write what was spoken to them as individual books; which were then used as the Scriptures by the Jews. Even the Lord Jesus in His earthly ministry read from and quoted from these inspired writings (Luke 4:3-12, 16-21).

 

So, even in the Old Testament times, God did not speak with everyone and anyone, but only to and through His chosen few. But He communicated with the general population and His people the Israelites, through His Prophets and He made available their writings to the people, and also for posterity, to teach them about Himself, show them His will, guide and instruct them, and correct them (Deuteronomy 6:1-9; Joshua 1:8; 1 Samuel 3:21; 2 Chronicles 34:18-19, 21, 24-27). At the time of the first Church, in the first century AD, the Gospels, the Letters, and other books were written; again through a few – the Apostles and others chosen by God, for the benefit of all. All of these Old and New Testament writings were compiled together under the guidance and inspiration of the Holy Spirit to provide for us the completed Word of God which we know as and call “The Bible.”

In the next article we will continue considering about the nature of God’s Word and the implications. But for now, think it over - are you directly in touch with God and His Word? Or, are you in touch with God on the basis of some other person’s understanding and interpretations of God’s Word? God wants to be in touch with you directly, not through any other person.

If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord, make your decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now to ensure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Repenting of your sins, and asking the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily and sincerely, surrendering yourself to Him - is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life.  Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.

    हम पिछले लेखों से देखते आ रहे हैं कि बालकों के समान अपरिपक्व मसीही विश्वासियों की एक पहचान यह भी है कि वे बहुत सरलता से भ्रामक शिक्षाओं द्वारा बहकाए तथा गलत बातों में भटकाए जाते हैं। इन भ्रामक शिक्षाओं को शैतान और उस के दूत झूठे प्रेरित, धर्म के सेवक, और ज्योतिर्मय स्‍वर्गदूतों का रूप धारण कर के बताते और सिखाते हैं (2 कुरिन्थियों 11:13-15)। ये भ्रामक लोग, और उनकी शिक्षाएं, दोनों ही बहुत आकर्षक, रोचक, और ज्ञानवान, यहाँ तक कि भक्तिपूर्ण और श्रद्धापूर्ण भी प्रतीत हो सकती हैं, किन्तु साथ ही उनमें अवश्य ही बाइबल की बातों के अतिरिक्त भी बातें डली हुई होती हैं। जैसा परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा ने प्रेरित पौलुस के द्वारा 2 कुरिन्थियों 11:4 में लिखवाया है, यदि कोई तुम्हारे पास आकर, किसी दूसरे यीशु को प्रचार करे, जिस का प्रचार हम ने नहीं किया: या कोई और आत्मा तुम्हें मिले; जो पहिले न मिला था; या और कोई सुसमाचार जिसे तुम ने पहिले न माना था, तो तुम्हारा सहना ठीक होता, इन भ्रामक शिक्षाओं और गलत उपदेशों के, मुख्यतः तीन विषय, होते हैं - प्रभु यीशु मसीह, पवित्र आत्मा, और सुसमाचार। साथ ही इस पद में सच्चाई को पहचानने और शैतान के झूठ से बचने के लिए एक बहुत महत्वपूर्ण बात भी दी गई है, कि इन तीनों विषयों के बारे में जो यथार्थ और सत्य हैं, वे सब वचन में पहले से ही बता और लिखवा दिए गए हैं। इसलिए बाइबल से देखने, जाँचने, तथा वचन के आधार पर शिक्षाओं को परखने के द्वारा सही और गलत की पहचान करना कठिन नहीं है।

    पिछले लेखों में हमने इन गलत शिक्षा देने वाले लोगों के द्वारा, प्रभु यीशु से संबंधित सिखाई जाने वाली गलत शिक्षाओं को देखने के बाद, परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा से संबंधित सामान्यतः बताई और सिखाई जाने वाली गलत शिक्षाओं की वास्तविकता को वचन की बातों से देखना आरंभ किया है। हम देख चुके हैं कि प्रत्येक सच्चे मसीही विश्वासी के नया जन्म या उद्धार पाते ही, तुरंत उसके उद्धार पाने के पल से ही परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा अपनी संपूर्णता में आकर उसके अंदर निवास करने लगता है, और उसी में बना रहता है, उसे कभी छोड़ कर नहीं जाता है; और इसी को पवित्र आत्मा से भरना या पवित्र आत्मा से बपतिस्मा पाना भी कहते हैं। वचन स्पष्ट है कि पवित्र आत्मा से भरना या उससे बपतिस्मा पाना कोई दूसरा या अतिरिक्त अनुभव नहीं है, वरन उद्धार के साथ ही सच्चे मसीही विश्वासी में पवित्र आत्मा का आकर निवास करना ही है। इन गलत शिक्षकों की एक और बहुत प्रचलित और बल पूर्वक कही जाने वाले बात है “अन्य-भाषाओं” में बोलना, और उन लोगों के द्वारा “अन्य-भाषाओं” को अलौकिक भाषाएं बताना, और परमेश्वर के वचन के दुरुपयोग के द्वारा इससे संबंधित कई और गलत शिक्षाओं को सिखाना। इसके बारे में भी हम देख चुके हैं कि यह भी एक ऐसी गलत शिक्षा है जिसका वचन से कोई समर्थन या आधार नहीं है। प्रेरितों 2 अध्याय में जो अन्य भाषाएं बोली गईं, वे पृथ्वी ही की भाषाएं और उनकी बोलियाँ थीं; कोई अलौकिक भाषा नहीं। हमने यह भी देखा था कि वचन में इस शिक्षा का भी कोई आधार या समर्थन नहीं है कि “अन्य-भाषाएं” प्रार्थना की भाषाएं हैं। इस गलत शिक्षा के साथ जुड़ी हुई इन लोगों की एक और गलत शिक्षा है कि “अन्य-भाषाएं” बोलना ही पवित्र आत्मा प्राप्त करने का प्रमाण है, जिसके भी झूठ होने और परमेश्वर के वचन के दुरुपयोग पर आधारित होने को हमने पिछले लेख में देखा है। पिछले लेख में हमने यह भी देखा था कि उन लोगों के सभी दावों के विपरीत, न तो प्रेरितों 2:3-11 का प्रभु के शिष्यों द्वारा अन्य-भाषाओं में बोलना कोई “सुनने” का आश्चर्यकर्म था, न ही अन्य भाषाएं प्रार्थना करने की गुप्त भाषाएँ हैं, और न ही ये किसी को भी यूं ही दे दी जाती हैं, जब तक कि व्यक्ति की उस स्थान पर सेवकाई न हो, जहाँ की भाषा बोलने की सामर्थ्य उसे प्रदान की गई है।

    एक और दावा जो ये पवित्र आत्मा और अन्य-भाषाएँ बोलने से संबंधित गलत शिक्षाएं देने वाले करते हैं, है कि व्यक्ति अन्य-भाषा बोलने के द्वारा सीधे परमेश्वर से वार्तालाप करता है। इसके बारे में हम पिछले लेख में बाइबल के कुछ महत्वपूर्ण तथ्यों से देख चुके हैं कि उनका यह दावा भी वचन की कसौटी पर बिलकुल गलत है, अस्वीकार्य है। आज हम इससे संबंधित कुछ अन्य बातों को देखेंगे। यहाँ पर कुछ संबंधित और बहुत महत्वपूर्ण बातों पर ध्यान दीजिए, जिनकी अनदेखी ये गलत शिक्षा देने वाले करते रहते हैं, क्योंकि इनसे उनके झूठ प्रकट हो जाते हैं:

    क्या अन्य सभी मसीही विश्वासी, जो उनके अनुसार उनकी ये ‘अन्य-भाषाएँ’ नहीं बोलते हैं, क्या वे पिता परमेश्वर से वार्तालाप नहीं करते हैं? और क्या पिता परमेश्वर उनकी नहीं सुनता है, उनकी प्रार्थनाओं के उत्तर नहीं देता है? यदि अन्य-भाषा बोले बिना भी परमेश्वर से बात-चीत की जा सकती है, परमेश्वर सामान्य भाषा में की गई बातों को भी सुनता है, उनका उत्तर देता है, तो फिर किसी को भी उनकी ये अन्य-भाषा में बोलने की क्या आवश्यकता है? हम पहले के लेख में देख चुके हैं कि ‘अन्य भाषा’ का गुप्त ‘प्रार्थना की भाषा’ होने का बाइबल से कोई समर्थन अथवा प्रमाण नहीं है; तो फिर उनकी ये अन्य-भाषा में बोलने के द्वारा कोई भी और क्या अतिरिक्त या अद्भुत कह लेगा, कर लेगा, या प्राप्त कर लेगा? इस संदर्भ में उनके सभी दावों के झूठा और वचन के अतिरिक्त होने को तो हम देख ही चुके हैं।

    वचन में, पुराने अथवा नए नियम में, ऐसा कुछ भी कहाँ लिखा है कि अन्य-भाषाओं में प्रार्थना करने वालों, या परमेश्वर से बातचीत करने वालों की ही बातें परमेश्वर द्वारा सुनी जाती हैं? या फिर, उनकी बातें परमेश्वर पहले या अवश्य ही सुनता है, जबकि अपनी सामान्य भाषा में प्रार्थना करने वालों की बातों की परमेश्वर अनदेखी करता है या विलंब से सुनता है? परमेश्वर और उसके वचन से संबंधित शिक्षाओं में इस प्रकार के अनुचित अभिप्राय मिला देने के द्वारा वे इन शिक्षाओं के शैतान की ओर से होने की पुष्टि करते हैं, क्योंकि शैतान आरंभ ही से परमेश्वर की बातों में मिलावट करता आया है, उन्हें बिगाड़ कर प्रस्तुत करता आया है। और इन गलत शिक्षाओं में बने रहने, इन्हें सिखाते रहने के द्वारा वे अपने लिए बहुत कठोर दण्ड निश्चित कर रहे हैं। 

    पुराने नियम में लेवियों और याजकों का कार्य था लोगों की ओर से परमेश्वर के सामने भेंट-बलिदान चढ़ाना, और साथ ही इस्राएल की प्रजा के लिए परमेश्वर का दूत होने के नाते उन्हें लोगों को परमेश्वर का वचन भी सिखाना होता था (मलाकी 2:4-7)। लेकिन न व्यवस्था की पुस्तकों में, और न कहीं और यह लिखा गया है कि उन्हें भी अन्य-भाषाओं में यह सेवकाई करनी होती थी। यदि व्यवस्था के युग में बिना मुँह से विचित्र, निरर्थक ध्वनियाँ निकाले याजक परमेश्वर की इच्छा जानने के लिए परमेश्वर से बातें कर सकता था, तो फिर आज इस अनुग्रह के युग में जब प्रभु परमेश्वर हमारे साथ रहता है, हम में निवास करता है, हम सामान्य भाषा में उससे बात क्यों नहीं कर सकते हैं? ये लोग वचन की शिक्षाओं के विरुद्ध व्यर्थ के निराधार तर्क, सहज और स्वीकार्य बनाकर देने में बहुत निपुण होते हैं, जिन के द्वारा ये लोग अपरिपक्व और भोले लोगों को बहुत से गलत मार्गों में बहका और भटका देते हैं।

    हम इसी विषय को अगले लेख में भी ज़ारी रखेंगे, और कुछ अन्य संबंधित बातों के बारे में देखेंगे।

Speaking in “Tongues” is NOT Directly Speaking with God (2)

    We have been seeing in the previous articles that one of the ways the childlike, immature Christian Believers can be identified is that they can very easily be deceived, beguiled and misled by wrong doctrines and false teachings. Satan and his followers bring in their wrong doctrines and misinterpretations of God’s Word through people who masquerade as apostles, ministers of righteousness, and angels of light (2 Corinthians 11:13-15). These deceptive people and their false messages, their teachings appear to be very attractive, interesting, knowledgeable, even very reverential and righteous; but there is always something or the other that is extra-Biblical or unBiblical mixed into them. These wrong teachings and false doctrines are mainly about three topics, as God the Holy Spirit got it written down through the Apostle Paul in 2 Corinthians 11:4 For if he who comes preaches another Jesus whom we have not preached, or if you receive a different spirit which you have not received, or a different gospel which you have not accepted--you may well put up with it! - the Lord Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit, and the Gospel. In this verse a very important way to identify the false and the correct, discern between them, and escape from being beguiled by Satan is also given - that which is the truth about these three topics has already been given and written in God’s Word. Therefore, by cross-checking every teaching and doctrine from the Bible, the true and the false can be discerned; that which is not already present in God’s Word is false, and their preacher is a preacher of satanic deceptions.

    In the previous articles, after seeing some commonly preached and taught false things about the Lord Jesus, we had started to look into the wrong things often taught and preached about the Holy Spirit. About the Holy Spirit, we have seen that every truly Born-Again Christian Believer automatically receives the Holy Spirit from God, at the very moment of his being saved. From that moment onwards, the Holy Spirit comes to reside in him in all His fullness, stays with him forever, never leaves him; and Biblically this is also known as being filled by the Holy Spirit or the baptism with the Holy Spirit. Another very popular and emphatically stated wrong teaching of these preachers and teachers of deceptions is about “speaking in tongues”, their claim that the “tongues’ are super-natural languages, and some other related wrong teachings. Regarding this we have seen that these are also wrong teachings which have no support or affirmation from the Bible. The speaking in “tongues” in Acts 2 were the known and understood languages of the earth and not any super-natural languages. We also saw that quite unlike their claims, “tongues” are not any “prayer language” - the Bible does not offer any support to this; and we also saw how their emphatic claim that speaking in tongues is proof of receiving the Holy Spirit is also patently false and unBiblical; it is their concocted doctrine through misuse and misinterpretation of Biblical facts. We had also seen that contrary to their claims, neither the speaking in other languages by the disciples of Lord Jesus, as given in Acts 2:3-11 was a 'miracle of hearing'; nor are "tongues" meant to be a secret prayer language; and, nor are they languages of other regions of the earth that have casually been given, unless the person has a ministry in that region whose language he has been given.

    In the last article we had seen some very important Biblical facts regarding another commonly preached false teaching, that “speaking in tongues” is having a direct conversation with God. Today we will see more things that too disprove their claims that speaking in ‘tongues’ is having a direct conversation with God. Consider some pertinent facts, which these preachers and teachers of wrong doctrines and false teachings ignore and never bring up for discussion, since these facts contradict and expose their false claims:

    Is it that all those Christian Believers, who do not speak in ‘tongues’ as these people do, do not converse with God? Does God not listen to them and their prayers? Does He not answer their prayers? If God does listen and answers others as well, if it is possible to converse with God without speaking in ‘tongues’; if God listens to people who speak to Him in their normal language, and answers their prayers, then why does anyone need to speak at all in incomprehensible ‘tongues’? We have seen in the previous article that there is neither any Biblical proof that ‘tongues’ are a secret, heavenly prayer language, nor is there any need for such a so-called ‘prayer language’, so, what extra are they able to gain or achieve through speaking in ‘tongues’ with God? We have already seen how hollow and false all their related claims are.

    In the Scriptures, nowhere is it written in either the Old or the New Testament that God only listens to those who pray to Him in ‘tongues.’ Nor does God’s Word say or even indicate that God gives a priority in listening to those who speak in ‘tongues’, whereas those who speak in their normal language, God either ignores them or answers late. The mixing of such false teachings and implications by them in God’s Word and in their preaching and teaching about God, affirms that their preaching and teachings are not from God but are satanic, since Satan, from the beginning has been mixing up wrong things in God’s instructions and corrupting God’s Word while presenting it to humans. By continuing to persist in these false teachings, and preaching them to others, these people are ensuring a very severe judgment from God for their being stubborn about this.

    In the Old Testament, it was the work of the Levites and Priests to bring the sacrifices and offerings of the people before God, pray for them to God, and being the messengers of God, to teach God’s Word to the Israelites (Malachi 2:4-7). But neither in the books of the Law, nor at any other place is it written that they had to fulfill this ministry with the help of speaking in ‘tongues’. Now, if in the Age of the Law, the Priests could converse with God, know His will, and teach His Word, without taking recourse to gibberish; then in this Age of Grace, when the Lord God resides with and within every Believer, then why can’t a Believer talk to the Lord God in his normal language? These people are adept at giving baseless arguments contrary to God’s Word in a seemingly very plausible manner, and thereby beguiling and misleading the immature, gullible people into all kinds of errors.

    In the next article we will continue to consider this topic further, and see some other related things.

    If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord Jesus, then take a decision in its favor now to secure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. The Lord's security and blessings are present where there is obedience of the Lord, where His Word is honored and followed. I believe that you have fully borne the punishment of my sins by your sacrifice on the cross, and have paid the full price of those sins for all eternity. Please forgive my sins, change my heart and mind towards you, and make me your disciple, take me with you." God longs for your company and wants to see you blessed, but to make this possible, is your personal decision. One prayer said with a sincere and surrendered heart will turn your present and future, your life here on earth and in the next world, forever and make you heavenly and blessed. Will you not say this prayer now, while you have the time and opportunity to do so? The decision is yours.

प्रभु यीशु के लोगों के लिए चौथे स्तंभ, प्रार्थना का महत्व

प्रभु की कलीसिया में, प्रभु द्वारा जोड़ दिए लोगों के जीवनों में, कलीसिया के आरंभ के समय से ही सात बातें देखी जाती रही हैं, जिन्हें प्रेरितों 2:38-42 में दिया गया है। इनमें से अंतिम चार, एक साथ, प्रेरितों 2:42 में दी गई हैं, और इन्हें मसीही जीवन तथा कलीसिया की स्थिरता के लिए चार स्तंभ भी कहा जाता है; तथा इनके लिए इसी पद में यह भी लिखा है कि उस आरंभिक कलीसिया के लोग इन बातों का पालन करने में “लौलीन रहे”। हमने इन चारों में से पहली तीन, और सातों में से पहली छः बातों को पिछले लेखों में देखा है। आज इन चार में से चौथी तथा सात में से सातवीं बात, प्रार्थना में लौलीन रहने के बारे में देखते हैं।

यहाँ हम देखते हैं कि प्रभु यीशु के उन आरंभिक अनुयायियों के जीवन में, आरंभ से ही प्रार्थना करने का बहुत महत्व रहा है। सामान्यतः परमेश्वर से प्रार्थना करने को परमेश्वर से कुछ माँगने या उससे प्राप्त करने के प्रयास करने के अभिप्राय से देखा और समझा जाता है। किन्तु परमेश्वर के वचन बाइबल के अनुसार परमेश्वर से प्रार्थना का अभिप्राय होता है परमेश्वर से वार्तालाप करना, जैसा प्रभु यीशु मसीह बहुधा किया करते थे (मरकुस 1:35; मत्ती 14:23; लूका 5:16; 6:12-13)। यह वार्तालाप औपचारिकता का निर्वाह नहीं, अपितु, किसी अंतरंग मित्र के साथ दिल खोल कर बात करने के समान है। अपने मन की बात परमेश्वर से खुल कर कहना, और परमेश्वर के मन की बात को उससे सुनना। अर्थात, प्रार्थना करना, परमेश्वर से संगति करने के समान है, निरंतर हर बात के लिए उसके संपर्क में बने रहना, हर बात के लिए उसकी इच्छा जानकर उसके अनुसार कार्य करना। जब मसीही विश्वासी परमेश्वर के साथ ऐसे निकट संबंध और संपर्क में रहेगा, परमेश्वर की इच्छा के अनुसार अपना हर निर्णय और कार्य करेगा, तो स्वतः ही न केवल उसकी प्रार्थनाओं का सकारात्मक उत्तर मिलेगा (यूहन्ना 15:7; 1 यूहन्ना 5:14), वरन् साथ ही उसके जीवन में परमेश्वर की सामर्थ्य भी प्रकट रहेगी, उसके कार्य भी सफल होंगे, और वह परिस्थितियों द्वारा विचलित और निराश भी नहीं होगा। यह इसलिए क्योंकि उसे विश्वास रहेगा के जो कुछ भी उसके जीवन में हो रहा है, वह परमेश्वर की इच्छा और योजना के अंतर्गत है, और अन्ततः उससे उसकी भलाई ही होगी (रोमियों 8:28)।

इसीलिए परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा ने प्रेरित पौलुस द्वारा लिखवाया, “निरन्तर प्रार्थना में लगे रहो” (1 थिस्स्लुनीकियों 5:17)। इसका यह तात्पर्य नहीं है कि सब कार्य छोड़कर किसी एकांत स्थान में आँख बंद करके और हाथ जोड़कर बैठे रहो और परमेश्वर से कुछ न कुछ कहते रहो। वरन् यह कि हर समय, हर बात के लिए, परमेश्वर के साथ मन में एक मूक संवाद, एक वार्तालाप चलते रहना चाहिए, हर बात के लिए उसकी इच्छा जानते रहना चाहिए, उसकी इच्छा के अनुसार करते रहना चाहिए। जो इस प्रकार परमेश्वर के साथ अपना घनिष्ठ संबंध बनाए रखते हैं, वे प्रभु के इस वचन को भी समझ सकते हैं और उसके प्रति आश्वस्त रह सकते हैं कि समय और आवश्यकता के अनुसार उन्हें प्रभु से वचन और सहायता मिलती रहेगी (यशायाह 30:21; लूका 12:11-12); तथा वे इन अंत के दिनों की भयानक घटनाओं से बचने और शांति के साथ रहने वाले भी होंगे (लूका 21:34-36; प्रकाशितवाक्य 3:10)।

मसीही विश्वासियों के लिए प्रार्थना करना कुछ निर्धारित समयों पर, किसी तय संख्या के अनुसार गिनकर करना नहीं है, जैसा हम पुराने नियम के कुछ संतों और परमेश्वर के भक्तों के साथ देखते हैं (भजन 55:17; भजन 119:164; दानिय्येल 6:10), वरन् हर पल, हर समय परमेश्वर के साथ संपर्क में बने रहना, उससे हर बात के लिए वार्तालाप में बने रहना है। जो इस भाव में जीवन व्यतीत करेगा, फिर वह इस एहसास के साथ भी जीवन जीएगा कि मैं परमेश्वर के साथ, और परमेश्वर मेरे साथ निरंतर विद्यमान हैं। और ऐसी स्थिति में फिर उसके लिए किसी लोभ-लालच, बुरे विचार आदि में बहक कर पाप में गिरना कठिन हो जाएगा, वह शैतान के द्वारा सरलता से बहकाया-गिराया नहीं जाएगा। आप स्वयं अनुमान लगा सकते हैं कि जो इस प्रकार से प्रार्थना में “लौलीन” रहेगा, उसके  आत्मिक जीवन का स्तर कैसा होगा। साथ ही, परमेश्वर के साथ इस प्रकार से संगति और संपर्क वही बना कर रख सकता है, जो प्रभु द्वारा अपनाया गया हो, प्रभु की कलीसिया के साथ जोड़ा गया हो। किसी मानवीय या संस्थागत प्रक्रिया के निर्वाह के द्वारा “कलीसिया” से जुड़ने वाले व्यक्ति के लिए परमेश्वर के साथ इस प्रकार प्रार्थना में जुड़े रहना संभव ही नहीं होगा; और न ही उसके जीवन में प्रार्थना के उत्तर एवं सामर्थ्य दिखाई देगी।

यदि आप एक मसीही विश्वासी हैं, तो आपका प्रार्थना का जीवन कैसा है? क्या आपके लिए प्रार्थना करना परमेश्वर से कुछ माँगना ही है, या एक अंतरंग मित्र के समान उससे अपने दिल की सभी बातें साझा करना, तथा उसके दिल की बातों को जानकर उनके अनुसार कार्य एवं व्यवहार करना है? आप का प्रार्थना का जीवन और प्रार्थना के प्रति आपका रवैया प्रकट करेगा कि आप वास्तव में प्रभु द्वारा उसकी कलीसिया से जोड़े गए जन हैं कि नहीं। यदि कहीं कोई कमी है, किसी सुधार की आवश्यकता है, तो अभी समय रहते जो भी ठीक करना है, वह कर लीजिए; कहीं बाद में समय और अवसर न मिले और कोई बहुत भारी कीमत चुकानी पड़ जाए।

The Importance for the Lord’s People of the Fourth Pillar, Prayer

In the Church of the Lord Jesus, in the lives of the people joined to the Church by the Lord, since the inception of the Church, seven things have been seen, which are given in Acts 2:38-42. Of these seven the last four have been given together in one sentence, in Acts 2:42; it is also written in the same sentence that the members of the first Church “continued steadfastly” in them. These four have also been called the four pillars giving stability and firmness to Christian life and the Church. We have seen the first three of these four, i.e., the first six of the seven things in the previous articles. Today, we will look at the last one, the importance of praying steadfastly amongst the Lord’s people.

We see from this verse that in the lives of those initial disciples of the Lord, prayer had a very important place. Usually, prayer is seen and understood as asking something from God, or pleading to get something from Him. But according to God’s Word the Bible, prayer is conversing with God, as the Lord Jesus often used to do (Mark 1:35; Matthew 14:23; Luke 5:16; 6:12-13). This conversation is not the fulfillment of a formality, rather, it is having an open-hearted conversation with a close and dear friend. It is unhesitatingly, freely sharing all you have in your heart with God, and listening to what God has to say to you. In other words, to pray is like having a fellowship session with God, to be in close touch with Him for everything, learning His will and way for everything and doing accordingly. When a Christian Believer will remain in such close contact and relationship with God, will take every decision in God’s will and fulfill it too, then automatically his prayers will answered in the affirmative (John 15:7; 1 John 5:14), and also the power of God too will be manifest in his life, he will be successful in all that he does, and he will never be discouraged or overwhelmed with situations and problems. This is since he will know and keep trusting that whatever is happening in his life is in the will of God and eventually will turn out to be for his good (Romans 8:28).

That is why God the Holy Spirit had it written through the Apostle Paul, “pray without ceasing” (1 Thessalonians 5:17). This does not mean to leave everything aside and be sitting alone all the time with closed eyes and folded hands and keep saying something or the other to God. Rather, it means to be in a constant state of silent conversation with God about everything happening in and around you, and keep doing as the Lord God guides and directs in every situation. Those who maintain their close, intimate relationship with God in this manner, they can well understand this verse; they will always remain assured and confident that as and when they need God’s help and guidance, they will keep receiving it (Isaiah 30:21; Luke 12:11-12). They will also be able to live in peace and with confidence through the terrible events and things of these end times that we are in (Luke 21:34-36; Revelation 3:10).

For the Christian Believers there are no set times of the day or the prescribed number of times to pray, as we see in the lives of some of the Old Testament saints and prophets of God (Psalm 55:17; Psalm 119:164; Daniel 6:10). The Born-Again child of God is expected to remain in constant conversation and touch with God about everything. The person who lives with this attitude, will also be confident that at all times and for everything he is with God and God is with him. Then, with such confidence it will be very difficult for him to be led astray into sin through any temptation, covetousness, wrong thoughts and desires etc. and Satan will not be able to make him fall into his traps. You can imagine for yourself the high spiritual state of those who “continue steadfastly” in prayer in this manner. This also implies that this kind of constant fellowship and conversation is only possible for a person who has been accepted by the Lord and has been joined to His Church by the Lord. No person joined by any man, or any Institution devised process to the Church will be able to remain joined in prayer with God in this manner; nor will answered prayers and the power of prayer be seen in his life.

If you are a Christian Believer, then what is the state of your prayer life? Does prayer only mean asking God for things, or is it a time of sharing your heart with a close intimate friend, learning what is on His heart for you, and then living your life accordingly? Your prayer life and your attitude towards prayer will make evident whether you actually have been joined to the Lord’s Church or not. Evaluate and see, and if there is any deficiency anywhere, if there is anything that needs to be rectified, do it now while you have time and opportunity available from God. May it not be so that by the time you realize, and want to take any remedial measures, it is too late, and you end up paying a heavy price.

व्यावहारिक मसीही जीवन से सम्बन्धित बातों के हमारे इस अध्ययन में हम प्रेरितों 2:42 में दी गई चार में से चौथी बात, प्रार्थना करने के बारे में देख रहे हैं। पिछले लेख में हमने देखा था कि परमेश्वर क्यों चाहता है कि उसके लोग हर बात के लिए उसके साथ निरन्तर प्रार्थना में, अर्थात उस से वार्तालाप के भाव में बने रहें। हमने समझा था कि कैसे परमेश्वर द्वारा दिया गया यह निर्देश हमारे लाभ के लिए, हमें शैतान की युक्तियों से, चालों से बचाए रखने के लिए है। आज हम इसी विषय - निरन्तर प्रार्थना में रहने से सम्बन्धित एक अन्य बात को समझेंगे, जो बहुधा मसीही विश्वासियों को उलझन में डालती है।

 

हम जानते हैं कि परमेश्वर का एक गुण है उसका सर्वज्ञानी होना। वह हर बात के आदि से लेकर उसके अन्त तक की सभी बातें जानता है (यशायाह 45:21; 46:10)। उससे कुछ छिपा नहीं है; वह न केवल मनुष्य के हृदय की हर बात को, वरन उस बात के पीछे के विचार को भी जानता और समझता है (1 इतिहास 28:9)। तो जब परमेश्वर सर्वज्ञानी है, जब उसे हर बात पहले से ही पता है, तो फिर वह क्यों चाहता है कि लोग उससे प्रार्थना करें, अपने निवेदन, अपनी आवश्यकताएं, अपने मन की बातें उसके सम्मुख व्यक्त करें? उसे तो स्वतः ही हमारी हर बात पता है, इसलिए उसे अपने इस पूर्व-ज्ञान और सर्वज्ञानी होने के अनुसार हमारे लिए प्रावधानों को करते रहना चाहिए। यह कहना सही है, और ऐसा नहीं है कि परमेश्वर इस तर्क से सुसंगत व्यवहार नहीं करता है। परमेश्वर ने बंधुवाई में गए हुए इस्राएलियों से कहा “क्योंकि यहोवा की यह वाणी है, कि जो कल्पनाएं मैं तुम्हारे विषय करता हूँ उन्हें मैं जानता हूँ, वे हानि की नहीं, वरन कुशल ही की हैं, और अन्त में तुम्हारी आशा पूरी करूंगा” (यिर्मयाह 29:11); और इस आश्वासन को अपने अपरिवर्तनीय अनन्तकालीन वचन में लिखवाकर उसे अपने अन्य लोगों के लिए भी दे दिया। 

किन्तु परमेश्वर का यह चाहना कि उसके लोग उसके सम्मुख आएं और अपने मन की बात को उसके साथ साझा करें, हमारे द्वारा अपनी प्रार्थनाओं, उसके साथ अपने वार्तालाप का आँकलन करने, और शैतान की युक्तियों से हमें सुरक्षित रखने के लिए है। हम सभी भली-भाँति जानते हैं, और यह हम सभी का व्यक्तिगत अनुभव भी है कि बहुत से लोगों के बारे में, अनेकों अधिकारियों अथवा विशिष्ट और गणमान्य व्यक्तियों, आदि के बारे में, उन से सम्बन्धित, हमारे मन में कई तरह की बातें हो सकती हैं। अपने सामान्य वार्तालाप में हम उनके बारे में या उनके सन्दर्भ में अनेकों प्रकार की बातें कहते हैं, और आवश्यक नहीं कि सभी बातें सही हों, उचित हों, उस व्यक्ति से या उसके सामने कहने योग्य हों। जब कभी हमारा सामना उस उच्च अधिकार वाले व्यक्ति से होता है, तो हम अपनी बातों को सोच-समझ कर और बहुत नियंत्रित तरीके से कहते हैं। और यदि हमें पता है कि उस व्यक्ति को कोई बात पसन्द नहीं है, या जिस बात से उसके सम्मान को ठेस पहुँच सकती है, वह अपमानित हो सकता है, हम सावधान रहते हैं कि हम उस बात को उसके सामने न बोलें, उससे न कहें, अथवा करें। अर्थात, उस व्यक्ति से बात करना, उसके सामने अपने आप को व्यक्त करना, हमारे अन्दर अपने आप को जाँचने, अपनी बातों को बोलने से पहले उनका विश्लेषण करने, अपने आप को उचित रीति से व्यक्त करने, अपने शब्दों, हाव-भाव, व्यवहार में एक संयम रखने के लिए प्रेरित करता है, तैयार करता है। तब हमारा प्रयास और उद्देश्य यही होता है कि हम शिष्टाचार का पालन करें, उस व्यक्ति को उसके स्तर के अनुसार उचित आदर दें, असभ्य न हों। साथ ही हमारे मन में चाहे जो भी हो, हम उसके सामने वही बोलें जो उसकी गरिमा के सन्दर्भ में उचित और उपयुक्त है। अर्थात, ऐसे पदाधिकारी के सम्मुख आकर उससे कुछ कहना हमें अपने आप को, अपने विचारों को, अपनी इच्छाओं को, अपने शब्दों, हाव-भाव, व्यवहार, आदि को जाँचने, उनका आँकलन करने, उनका विश्लेषण करके केवल सही और उचित को ही मुँह से निकालने या करने के लिए तैयार करता है। अब विचार कीजिए, यदि वह व्यक्ति ऐसा हो जो स्वतः ही हमारे मन-मस्तिष्क-विचार की हर बात को, हमारे कुछ कहे बिना ही, जानने और समझने की क्षमता रखता हो, तो फिर उसके सामने जाने पर हमारा क्या हाल होगा? और यदि हमें प्रतिदिन, कई बार उसके सामने जाना ही पड़े, उससे वार्तालाप करना ही पड़े, तो फिर हम उसके बारे में, और उसके सन्दर्भ में कैसे विचार अपने अन्दर आने देंगे, और किन बातों से अपने आप को दूर रखेंगे।

अब इसी बात को अपने और परमेश्वर के विषय लागू करके देखिए। क्योंकि आप को अपने मन की हर बात उससे कहनी है, इसलिए आप अपने आप को, अपनी बातों को, अपने विचारों और इच्छाओं को, अपनी भावनाओं को जाँचते, परखते हुए, उनका विश्लेषण करते हुए परमेश्वर के सम्मुख आएंगे और उससे वही कहेंगे जो उसके आदर और प्रतिष्ठा के अनुसार है; उससे वही माँगेंगे जो उसकी इच्छा और पसंद के अनुसार है, न कि कुछ ऐसा जिसे वह पसन्द नहीं करता है, और जिसे वह अपने लोगों में देखना नहीं चाहता है। और जब जानते हैं कि परमेश्वर आपके बारे में, आपके विचारों, इच्छा और लालसाओं के बारे में, सब कुछ पहले से ही जानता है, तो स्वतः ही आपका प्रयास रहेगा कि आप अपने अन्दर ऐसा कुछ भी न आने दें जो उसे पसन्द नहीं है, उससे ऐसा कुछ भी ना माँगें जो उसकी इच्छा और पसन्द के अनुसार नहीं है। इसे एक कदम और आगे बढ़ाइए, जब आपको यह पता है कि आपको हर बात के लिए, कई बार परमेश्वर के सम्मुख आकर उससे वार्तालाप करना है, तो क्या आप अपने अन्दर ऐसा कुछ भी आने देंगे जो परमेश्वर को पसन्द न हो, जो उसकी इच्छा के अनुसार न हो, जिसे वह अपने लोगों में देखना न चाहता हो? यदि हम परमेश्वर की पसन्द की बातों के अनुसार अपने जीवन, सोच-विचार, भावनाओं, इच्छाओं और लालसाओं, व्यवहार, आदि को नियंत्रित और संचालित करने वाले बन जाएंगे, तो फिर हमारे मन, मस्तिष्क, और विचार कितने शुद्ध और स्वच्छ हो जाएंगे, हमारा आत्मिक स्तर, तो हमारा आत्मिक जीवन, तथा परमेश्वर के साथ हमारी घनिष्ठता कितनी अधिक उन्नत हो जाएगी। इससे हम समझ सकते हैं कि सर्वज्ञानी होने के बावजूद, परमेश्वर क्यों चाहता है कि हम बारम्बार उसके सामने आकर उससे प्रार्थना या वार्तालाप करते रहें; ताकि हम एक शुद्ध मन, विचार, विवेक, और व्यवहार वाले व्यक्ति रहें, और शैतान को हमारे अन्दर कुछ भी बुरा डालने का अवसर न रहे।

 

सच में, जैसा परमेश्वर ने यिर्मयाह 29:11 में कहा है, उसकी हर योजना, हर बात हमारी भलाई ही के लिए है; हमें इस बात को समझते हुए परमेश्वर के हर निर्देश को मानने वाला बनना चाहिए। अगले लेख में हम यहाँ से आगे देखेंगे। 

 

यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु, मैं अपने पापों के लिए पश्चातापी हूँ, उनके लिए आप से क्षमा माँगता हूँ। मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मुझे और मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

The Four Pillars of Christian Living - 4 - Prayer (4)

In this study on practical Christian living, we are considering the fourth of the four things given in Acts 2:42, i.e., praying. In the previous article we had seen a reason why God wants His people to always be in an attitude of prayer, i.e., conversing with Him. We had understood how this God given instruction is for our good, to keep us safe from the ploys and devices of Satan. Today we will look further on the same topic - continually being in an attitude of prayer, and consider another of its aspects, that often perplexes the Christian Believers. But again, God has asked it to be done for our benefit only.

We know that one of the attributes of God is His being omniscient, i.e., knowing everything about everything. He knows the end of everything from its beginning (Isaiah 45:21; 46:10). There is nothing hidden from Him; He not only knows everything that is in man’s heart, but also knows and understands the intention behind those thoughts (1 Chronicles 28:9). Now, when God is omniscient, when He already knows everything beforehand, then why does He want that people should pray to Him, express their needs and desires before Him? He already knows everything about us; therefore, He should keep providing for us according to His foreknowledge. There is nothing wrong in saying this, and it is not that God does not act according to this rationalization. God said to the Israelites taken into captivity, “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope” (Jeremiah 29:11); and by making it a part of His unalterable eternal Word, has made this assurance applicable for others as well.

But God desires that His people should come in His presence, and share whatever is in their hearts with Him, so that we should evaluate the prayers and conversations we address to Him, and remain safe from the schemes of Satan. We all know very well, and it is our personal experience as well, that we have many kinds of thoughts in our hearts about many people, many officials or dignitaries or VIPs. In our general conversation, we may say many things about them, or in their context, but it is not necessary that everything we say or think is correct, appropriate, and worthy of being openly said in the presence of that person. Whenever we are brought into the presence of that superior ranking person, then we are very careful about what we say, and say it in a very controlled manner. Moreover, if we know that there is something that he does not like, or if there is something that can belittle his dignity, can insult him, then we are very careful that we do not speak of that thing to him or in his presence, or do it. In other words, the presence of that person makes us evaluate what we are saying, analyze how we will express ourselves, and induces us to exercise restraint and moderation in our conversing with him, expressing ourselves before him, in our expressions and behavior before him. At such times, our effort and aim are to observe proper decorum and manners, and accord that person his due honor according to his status. Whatever we may be having in our hearts about him, we only say and behave in a manner that is appropriate and courteous in context of his stature and dignity. Therefore, coming into the presence of such an official to say something to him, induces us to evaluate our thoughts, our desires, our words, our expressions, our behavior, and then speak or do only the thing that is correct and appropriate. Now, what if the person in whose presence we have come to express ourselves, has the ability to automatically know everything that we have in our hearts, minds, and thoughts; has the ability to know and understand everything in us, without our uttering even a word; what would our condition be in such a situation? And then, if we have to come into his presence, and have to converse with him many times every day, then what kind of thoughts and things would we allow to come into us about him; and what all things would we stay away from?

Now, apply this very thing to yourself and God, and ponder over it. Since you have to say everything in your heart to Him, therefore you will evaluate yourself, your thoughts, your desires, your feelings, your behavior, and come into His presence reverentially, and say only that which is in accordance with His dignity and honor; also, you will only ask for that from Him, which is according to His will and desire, and not anything that He does not like and does not want to see in His people. And when you know that God already knows everything about you, about your thoughts, about your likes and desires; then automatically, you will take appropriate steps to ensure that you do not allow anything that He does not like to come into you, nor will you ask for anything that He does want to be seen in or with you. Take this a step further, now, when you know that you have to come in the presence of God many times, and converse with Him, then will you let anything within you that God does not like or want in you? If we begin to control and direct our lives, our thoughts, feelings, likes and desires, behavior to be in conformity with the will and desire of God for us, then think how pure and clean our hearts, minds, and thoughts will become; how much better our spiritual lives, spiritual status, and our intimacy with God will be. By this we can understand that though He is omniscient, why God wants that we keep coming into His presence over and over again to pray and converse with Him; because He wants us to be people of a pure and clean heart, mind and thoughts; and does not want that Satan should have any opportunity to place anything bad within us.

Truly, as God has said in Jeremiah 29:11, His every plan is only for our benefit; we should understand this and become those who obey all of God given instructions. In the next article, we will consider further from this point.

Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Repenting of your sins, and asking the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily and sincerely, surrendering yourself to Him - is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life.  Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.
