    प्रत्येक भला भण्डारी, उसे सौंपी गई ज़िम्मेदारी के बारे में, उसके उद्देश्य एवं उपयोग के बारे में पता करता है, सीखता है, और फिर उस बात को, उसे सौंपी गई ज़िम्मेदारी को भली-भाँति निर्वाह करने के लिए, उचित रीति से उपयोग में लाता है। क्योंकि परमेश्वर ने प्रत्येक नया-जन्म पाए हुए मसीही विश्वासी को अपनी कलीसिया का अंग बनाया है और उसे अपनी अन्य सन्तानों के साथ सहभागिता में रखा है, इसलिए, परमेश्वर द्वारा हम मसीही विश्वासियों को दी गई बात के भण्डारी होने के नाते, हम परमेश्वर के वचन बाइबल में से कलीसिया तथा उसकी सन्तानों के साथ सहभागिता रखने के बारे में सीख रहे हैं।

    मसीही विश्वासियों की मण्डली, या प्रभु की कलीसिया के विषय इस अध्ययन में हम मत्ती 16:18 से, जहाँ “कलीसिया” शब्द बाइबल में सबसे पहले प्रयोग हुआ है, कलीसिया के विषय वचन में दी गई बातों को देखते आ रहे हैं। हमने देखा है कि प्रभु यीशु की कलीसिया या मण्डली “इस पत्थर”, अर्थात मत्ती 16:16 में पतरस को परमेश्वर से मिले दर्शन “तू जीवते परमेश्वर का पुत्र मसीह है” पर आधारित है। हमने यह भी देखा कि पतरस को मिले इस ईश्वरीय दर्शन में संज्ञा “यीशु” की बजाए प्रभु की उपाधि “मसीह”, अर्थात “परमेश्वर द्वारा नियुक्त और अभिषिक्त जगत का एकमात्र उद्धारकर्ता” शब्द के प्रयोग का क्या तात्पर्य एवं महत्व है; और फिर हमने समझा था कि प्रभु यीशु मसीह के जगत का “एकमात्र उद्धारकर्ता” होने का क्या तात्पर्य है। संभव है कि कुछ लोगों को यह विश्लेषण नाहक ही ‘बाल की खाल निकालने’, शब्दों से खेलने, के समान लगता हो। किन्तु अनन्तकाल के दृष्टिकोण और मसीही विश्वासी होने के उद्देश्य की ठीक समझ रखने के लिए वास्तविक मसीही विश्वासी होने को जानना और समझना अत्यावश्यक ही नहीं, बल्कि अनिवार्य भी है। 

    मत्ती 16:18 में लिखे प्रभु के कहे वाक्य पर ध्यान कीजिए - “...मैं इस पत्थर पर अपनी कलीसिया बनाऊंगा...”; प्रभु के इस वाक्य में तीन बातें बहुत महत्वपूर्ण हैं:

• पहली, प्रभु स्वयं ही अपनी कलीसिया बनाएगा, अर्थात उसके बुलाए हुए लोगों को, उन्हें जो उसे जगत का एकमात्र उद्धारकर्ता मानते हैं, उनके समूह को एकत्रित करेगा। वह यह कार्य किसी और से नहीं करवाएगा, यह ज़िम्मेदारी किसी और को नहीं सौंपेगा, वरन इसे स्वयं ही पूरा करेगा। यही इस बात को दिखाता है कि यह कार्य कितना महत्वपूर्ण है, और इसे ठीक से करना कितना आवश्यक है; इसमें किसी भी प्रकार की कोई भी त्रुटि होने, कमी रहने का कोई स्थान, कोई गुंजाइश ही नहीं है। इसलिए वह सिद्ध, सर्वज्ञानी, सर्वशक्तिमान, सार्वभौमिक प्रभु परमेश्वर इसे स्वयं ही पूरा करेगा।  

• दूसरी, वह कलीसिया प्रभु यीशु की अपनी होगी; वह किसी व्यक्ति या स्थान या डिनॉमिनेशन, या किसी अन्य भौतिक, नश्वर, नाशमान बात के नाम या गुण के आधार पर नहीं जानी जाएगी; वह केवल “प्रभु यीशु की कलीसिया” प्रभु यीशु द्वारा उसके लोग होने के लिए बुलाए और एकत्रित किए गए लोगों, और केवल उस ही के नाम से पहचाने जाने वाले लोगों का समूह होगा। 

• तीसरी, प्रभु ने कहा कि वह ही अपनी इस कलीसिया को ‘बनाएगा’ – उसने यहाँ पर भविष्य काल का उपयोग किया है। जब प्रभु ने यह बात कही कलीसिया उस समय वर्तमान नहीं थी, बनाई जानी थी। प्रभु द्वारा कही गई यह बात प्रेरितों 2 अध्याय में यरूशलेम में पतरस के प्रचार और उस प्रचार के प्रति वहाँ एकत्रित भक्त यहूदियों के द्वारा दी गई प्रतिक्रिया के साथ आरंभ हुई थी। किसी वस्तु को ‘बनाने’ में समय और प्रयास लगता है, उसे उसके पूर्ण होने और उसे अंतिम स्वरूप में लाने या ढालने के लिए एक प्रक्रिया से होकर निकलना पड़ता है। 

    प्रभु की कलीसिया भी प्रभु के द्वारा ‘बनाई’ जा रही है, निर्माणाधीन है, उसमें अभी भी संसार भर से बुलाए हुए लोग जोड़े जा रहे हैं। अभी वह पूर्ण नहीं हुई है। प्रभु उसे बना भी रहा है और जितनी बन गई है, उसे प्रभु निष्कलंक, बेझुर्री भी बनाता जा रहा है, जिससे अन्ततः अपने पूर्ण स्वरूप में वह तेजस्वी, पवित्र और निर्दोष होकर उसके साथ खड़ी हो (इफिसियों 5:27)। अभी प्रभु उसे बनाने में कार्यरत है, कलीसिया ‘निर्माणाधीन’ है, इसीलिए आज हमें प्रभु यीशु मसीह की कलीसिया में कुछ कमियाँ, दोष, अपूर्णता, और सुधार के योग्य बातें दिखती हैं, जिन्हें सुधारे जाने की आवश्यकता है, और कुछ बातें सही की भी जा रही हैं।

    अगले लेख से हम इन तीनों बातों को, परमेश्वर के वचन बाइबल के आधार पर, बारी-बारी से कुछ और विस्तार से देखेंगे। 

    यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। स्वेच्छा से अपने पापों के लिये पश्चाताप करके, प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु, मैं अपने पापों के लिए पश्चातापी हूँ, उनके लिए आप से क्षमा माँगता हूँ। मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मुझे और मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

Building the Church – 12 – On The Lord Jesus Christ – 4

A good steward finds out and learns about what has been entrusted to him, about its purpose and utility, and then puts that thing to use to worthily, to fulfil the responsibility given to him. Since God has made every Born-Again Christian Believer a member of His Church and put him in fellowship with His other children, therefore, as stewards of what God has given to us Christian Believers, we are learning about the Church and about fellowshipping with God’s children from God’s Word the Bible.

    We have been looking at and considering various aspects from Matthew 16:18, where the word “Church” has been used for the very first time, for the Assembly or Church of the Lord Jesus Christ made up of the Christian Believers. We have seen that the Assembly or Church of the Lord Jesus Christ is built on “this rock” which is the revelation God gave to Peter about Lord Jesus, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God” (Matthew 16:16). We also saw the significance and meaning of Peter, instead of using the proper noun “Jesus,” using the title “the Christ” here, i.e., the “one and only God anointed and appointed savior of the world;” and then we saw what it means to say that the Lord Jesus Christ is the “one and only savior” of the world. It is possible that some people may consider this analysis an attempt of going after the inconsequential nitty-gritty of the matter, merely playing with words. But from the perspective of eternity and of having a proper understanding of what it actually means to be a Christian Believer, it is not just important to know and understand these finer points; rather, they are essential.

    Take note of the sentence “...on this rock I will build My church…” said by the Lord Jesus in Matthew 16:18; there are three very important things in the Lord’s sentence:

• First, the Lord Jesus Himself will build, i.e., gather together His called-out ones, the ones who accept Him as the “one and only God anointed and appointed savior of the world.” He is not giving this job, this responsibility to anyone else, but will complete it Himself. This by itself shows how important this work is, and how necessary it is to have it done properly; that there is no scope of allowing any error or short-coming in its execution. That is why that perfect, omniscient, omnipotent, sovereign Lord God will do it Himself.

• Second, that Church will be the Lord’s Church; it will not be known according to any person or place or denomination, or by any other physical, temporal, perishable name or characteristic. It will only be “The Church of the Lord Jesus Christ” made up of people called-out and gathered together by the Lord to be His people, those who will be known by His name.

• Thirdly, the Lord said that He will ‘build’ His Church - He has used the future tense here. When the Lord said this, the Church was not present, but was to be built. The fulfillment of what the Lord had said here, began in Acts 2 with the preaching of Peter and the response to his preaching by the audience, i.e., the devout Jews gathered in Jerusalem at that time. To build a thing takes time and effort; to complete it and give it the final form and shape requires a process to be initiated and completed. 

    The Church of the Lord is also presently ‘under-construction,’ even today people called-out from the world are being added to it. It is not yet complete. The Lord not only is building it, but what has been built, the Lord is working on it to make it without spot or wrinkle, so that ultimately in its fully completed form, it would be a glorious, without any blemish, and holy Church that will stand by His side as His bride (Ephesians 5:27). Since the Lord is still engaged in building His Church, the Church is presently ‘under-construction,’ therefore today in the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ, we see many imperfections, incomplete things, places that need rectification, etc. and many things are in the process of being set-right.

    From the next article, we will look at these three things one by one from God’s Word, in some detail.

    If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord, make your decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now to ensure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Repenting of your sins, and asking the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily and sincerely, surrendering yourself to Him - is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life.  Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.

बाइबल के अनुसार भविष्यवाणी के अर्थ (2)

    पिछले लेख में हमने शब्दों "भविष्यद्वक्ता" और भविष्यद्वाणी" के विभिन्न अर्थों और तात्पर्यों के बार में देखा था। इन बातों की पुष्टि के लिए, तथा यह भी समझने के लिए कि वर्तमान में जो स्वयं को "भविष्यद्वक्ता" कहते हैं, तथा उनकी "भविष्यद्वाणियाँ" परमेश्वर के वचन के समक्ष क्या स्थान रखती हैं, आज हम परमेश्वर के वचन बाइबल के कुछ पदों से "भविष्यद्वक्ता" और "भविष्यद्वाणी" शब्दों के प्रयोग के कुछ उदाहरण देखते हैं। 

बाइबल के इन पदों पर कुछ विचार कीजिए:

* किसी देवी-देवता को पुकारना: 1राजा 18:29 वे दोपहर भर ही क्या, वरन भेंट चढ़ाने के समय तक नबूवत करते रहे, परन्तु कोई शब्द सुन न पड़ा; और न तो किसी ने उत्तर दिया और न कान लगाया। - एल्लियाह से मिली चुनौती के अंतर्गत बाल देवता के नबी अपने देवता को भरसक पुकारते रहे।

* अपने शब्दों के द्वारा लोगों को आश्वस्त अथवा प्रोत्साहित करना, शान्ति या सांत्वना देना: 1 कुरिन्थियों 14:3 परन्तु जो भविष्यद्वाणी करता है, वह मनुष्यों से उन्नति, और उपदेश, और शान्‍ति की बातें कहता है।

* परमेश्वर द्वारा दी गई आज्ञा को बोलना और मानना: 

- यहेजकेल 37:4 तब उसने मुझ से कहा, इन हड्डियों से भविष्यद्वाणी कर के कह, हे सूखी हड्डियों, यहोवा का वचन सुनो।

- यहेजकेल 37:9-10 तब उसने मुझ से कहा, हे मनुष्य के सन्तान सांस से भविष्यद्वाणी कर, और सांस से भविष्यद्वाणी कर के कह, हे सांस, परमेश्वर यहोवा यों कहता है कि चारों दिशाओं से आकर इन घात किए हुओं में समा जा कि ये जी उठें। उसकी इस आज्ञा के अनुसार मैं ने भविष्यद्वाणी की, तब सांस उन में आ गई, ओर वे जीकर अपने अपने पांवों के बल खड़े हो गए; और एक बहुत बड़ी सेना हो गई।

* परमेश्वर की ओर से आने वाली घटनाओं और बातों के बारे में बताना:

 - यहेजकेल 36:1, 3 फिर हे मनुष्य के सन्तान, तू इस्राएल के पहाड़ों से भविष्यद्वाणी कर के कह, हे इस्राएल के पहाड़ों, यहोवा का वचन सुनो। इस कारण भविष्यद्वाणी कर के कह, परमेश्वर यहोवा यों कहता हे, लोगों ने जो तुम्हें उजाड़ा और चारों ओर से तुम्हें ऐसा निगल लिया कि तुम बची हुई जातियों का अधिकार हो जाओ, और लुतरे तुम्हारी चर्चा करते और साधारण लोग तुम्हारी निन्दा करते हैं;

- यहेजकेल 37:12-14 इस कारण भविष्यद्वाणी कर के उन से कह, परमेश्वर यहोवा यों कहता है, हे मेरी प्रजा के लोगों, देखो, मैं तुम्हारी कब्रें खोल कर तुम को उन से निकालूंगा, और इस्राएल के देश में पहुंचा दूंगा। सो जब मैं तुम्हारी कब्रें खोलूं, और तुम को उन से निकालूं, तब हे मेरी प्रजा के लोगों, तुम जान लोगे कि मैं यहोवा हूँ। और मैं तुम में अपना आत्मा समाऊंगा, और तुम जीओगे, और तुम को तुम्हारे निज देश में बसाऊंगा; तब तुम जान लोगे कि मुझ यहोवा ही ने यह कहा, और किया भी है, यहोवा की यही वाणी है।

* परमेश्वर के प्रभाव में आकर उसके निर्देश के अनुसार बोलना: 

- अमोस 3:8 सिंह गरजा; कौन न डरेगा? परमेश्वर यहोवा बोला; कौन भविष्यद्वाणी न करेगा?

  - यहेजकेल 36:6 इस कारण इस्राएल के देश के विषय में भविष्यद्वाणी कर के पहाड़ों, पहाडिय़ों, नालों, और तराइयों से कह, परमेश्वर यहोवा यों कहता है, देखो, तुम ने जातियों की निन्दा सही है, इस कारण मैं अपनी बड़ी जलजलाहट से बोला हूँ।

* आराधना, स्तुति करना, और आराधना के लिए संगीत वाद्य बजाना: 1इतिहास 25:1-6 फिर दाऊद और सेनापतियों ने आसाप, हेमान और यदूतून के कितने पुत्रों को सेवकाई के लिये अलग किया कि वे वीणा, सारंगी और झांझ बजा बजाकर नबूवत करें। और इस सेवकाई के काम करने वाले मनुष्यों की गिनती यह थी: अर्थात आसाप के पुत्रों में से तो जक्कूर, योसेप, नतन्याह और अशरेला, आसाप के ये पुत्र आसाप ही की आज्ञा में थे, जो राजा की आज्ञा के अनुसार नबूवत करता था। फिर यदूतून के पुत्रों में से गदल्याह, सरीयशायाह, हसब्याह, मत्तित्याह, ये ही छ: अपने पिता यदूतून की आज्ञा में हो कर जो यहोवा का धन्यवाद और स्तुति कर कर के नबूवत करता था, वीणा बजाते थे। और हेमान के पुत्रों में से, मुक्किय्याह, मत्तन्याह, लज्जीएल, शबूएल, यरीमोत, हनन्याह, हनानी, एलीआता, गिद्दलती, रोममतीएजेर, योशबकाशा, मल्लोती, होतीर और महजीओत। परमेश्वर की प्रतिज्ञानुकूल जो उसका नाम बढ़ाने की थी, ये सब हेमान के पुत्र थे जो राजा का दर्शी था; क्योंकि परमेश्वर ने हेमान को चौदह बेटे और तीन बेटियां दीं थीं। ये सब यहोवा के भवन में गाने के लिये अपने अपने पिता के आधीन रह कर, परमेश्वर के भवन, की सेवकाई में झांझ, सारंगी और वीणा बजाते थे। और आसाप, यदूतून और हेमान राजा के आधीन रहते थे।

* किसी गुप्त या अनजानी बात को बताना: लूका 22:64 और उस की आंखे ढांपकर उस से पूछा, कि भविष्यद्वाणी कर के बता कि तुझे किसने मारा - प्रभु यीशु मसीह को पकड़ने के बाद उसका का ठट्ठा करते समय उससे उपहास करते हुए पूछना।  

ये “भविष्यद्वक्ता” और “भविष्यद्वाणी” शब्दों के बाइबल में विभिन्न अभिप्रायों के प्रयोग को दिखाने के लिए केवल उदाहरणस्वरूप लिए गए बाइबल के कुछ पद हैं; संपूर्ण सूची नहीं।

आज ईसाई या मसीही समाज में, विशेषकर उन समुदायों और डिनॉमिनेशंस में जो परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा के बारे में गलत शिक्षाएं बताते और सिखाते रहते हैं, ऐसे लोगों की कमी नहीं है जो अपने आप को “नबी” या “भविष्यद्वक्ता” कहते हैं, और परमेश्वर के नाम से कुछ भी कहते रहते हैं। उनका मुख्य ध्येय अपने आप को उच्च और प्रशंसनीय बनाना तथा परमेश्वर के नाम, काम, और उसके वचन के द्वारा अपने लिए सांसारिक लाभ, संपत्ति, यश, ओहदा, आदि एकत्रित करना होता है। यदि आप एक मसीही विश्वासी हैं, तो आपके लिए यह अनिवार्य है कि आप परमेश्वर के वचन की गलत समझ और गलत उपयोग से बचें। वचन की सही समझ और सही उपयोग आपके लिए आत्मिक उन्नति और आशीष का कारण होगा, किन्तु गलत समझ और गलत उपयोग बहुत हानिकारक होगा। इसलिए यदि आप किसी गलत शिक्षा अथवा धारणा में पड़े हुए हैं, तो स्थिति को जाँच-परखकर अभी समय और अवसर के रहते उससे बाहर निकल आएं, आवश्यक सुधार कर लें।

यदि आपने अभी तक प्रभु की शिष्यता को स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी उसके पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। यदि आपने अभी तक नया जन्म, उद्धार नहीं पाया है, प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा नहीं माँगी है, तो अभी आपके पास समय और अवसर है कि यह कर लें। प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” परमेश्वर आपके साथ संगति रखने की बहुत लालसा रखता है तथा आपको आशीषित देखना चाहता है, लेकिन इसे सम्भव करना आपका व्यक्तिगत निर्णय है। सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी। क्या आप अभी समय और अवसर होते हुए, इस प्रार्थना को नहीं करेंगे? निर्णय आपका है।

Biblical Meanings of Prophesying (2)

In the previous article, we have seen the various implications and meanings of the words “Prophet” and “Prophecy.” Today, let us look at some examples of the usage, meaning, and implications of these two words through some verses from the Bible; using them as examples of what we have said, and to see how the present day self-proclaimed "Prophets" and their "prophecies" measure up to God's Word.

Consider the following verses:

* To call unto some deity: 1 Kings 18:29 And when midday was past, they prophesied until the time of the offering of the evening sacrifice. But there was no voice; no one answered, no one paid attention. The prophets of Baal called out to their deity; but in vain.

* To comfort and assure people through speaking to them: 1 Corinthians 14:3 But he who prophesies speaks edification and exhortation and comfort to men.

* To speak out and obey God’s commandments:

- Ezekiel 37:4 Again He said to me, Prophesy to these bones, and say to them, 'O dry bones, hear the word of the Lord!’

- Ezekiel 37:9-10 Also He said to me, Prophesy to the breath, prophesy, son of man, and say to the breath, Thus says the Lord God: Come from the four winds, O breath, and breathe on these slain, that they may live. So I prophesied as He commanded me, and breath came into them, and they lived, and stood upon their feet, an exceedingly great army.

* To foretell about the future events, from God:

- Ezekiel 36:1, 3 And you, son of man, prophesy to the mountains of Israel, and say, O mountains of Israel, hear the word of the Lord! therefore prophesy, and say, Thus says the Lord God: Because they made you desolate and swallowed you up on every side, so that you became the possession of the rest of the nations, and you are taken up by the lips of talkers and slandered by the people

- Ezekiel 37:12-14 Therefore prophesy and say to them, Thus says the Lord God: Behold, O My people, I will open your graves and cause you to come up from your graves, and bring you into the land of Israel. Then you shall know that I am the Lord, when I have opened your graves, O My people, and brought you up from your graves. I will put My Spirit in you, and you shall live, and I will place you in your own land. Then you shall know that I, the Lord, have spoken it and performed it, says the Lord.

* To speak under the power and influence of God, according to His instructions:

- Amos 3:8 A lion has roared! Who will not fear? The Lord God has spoken! Who can but prophesy?

 - Ezekiel 36:6 Therefore prophecy concerning the land of Israel, and say to the mountains, the hills, the rivers, and the valleys, Thus says the Lord God: Behold, I have spoken in My jealousy and My fury, because you have borne the shame of the nations.

* To praise and worship God, and to play musical instruments for worshipping: 1Chronicles 25:1-6 Moreover David and the captains of the army separated for the service some of the sons of Asaph, of Heman, and of Jeduthun, who should prophesy with harps, stringed instruments, and cymbals. And the number of the skilled men performing their service was: Of the sons of Asaph: Zaccur, Joseph, Nethaniah, and Asharelah; the sons of Asaph were under the direction of Asaph, who prophesied according to the order of the king. Of Jeduthun, the sons of Jeduthun: Gedaliah, Zeri, Jeshaiah, Shimei, Hashabiah, and Mattithiah, six, under the direction of their father Jeduthun, who prophesied with a harp to give thanks and to praise the Lord. Of Heman, the sons of Heman: Bukkiah, Mattaniah, Uzziel, Shebuel, Jerimoth, Hananiah, Hanani, Eliathah, Giddalti, Romamti-Ezer, Joshbekashah, Mallothi, Hothir, and Mahazioth. All these were the sons of Heman the king's seer in the words of God, to exalt his horn. For God gave Heman fourteen sons and three daughters. All these were under the direction of their father for the music in the house of the Lord, with cymbals, stringed instruments, and harps, for the service of the house of God. Asaph, Jeduthun, and Heman were under the authority of the king.

* To tell about some secret or unknown thing: Luke 22:64 They blindfolded him and demanded, "Prophesy! Who hit you?"

These are just a few representative, sample verses, and not an exhaustive list from the Bible to illustrate the varying meanings of the words “Prophet” and “Prophecy.” 

Today, in Christendom, especially amongst those groups, sects, and denominations who keep preaching and teaching wrong doctrines and false teachings about God the Holy Spirit, there is no dearth of people who call themselves as “prophets”, are self-appointed or man-appointed to this position, and keep saying anything that comes to their mind as a “prophecy from God.” But their main purpose is to gain prominence, to become famous and acquire a name and following; they use the name of God, His Word, and things done in his name to acquire worldly benefits and possessions, name, fame, and status in the society, and rise to a position of having authority over people. If you are a Christian Believer, then it is essential for you to recognize and beware of the misunderstandings and misuse of God’s Word and name. Having a correct understanding and using God’s Word worthily will be a blessing for you and help you in your spiritual growth; but misuse and propagating misunderstandings will be deleterious and catastrophic. Therefore, check and evaluate what you accept and believe in, and if you are caught up and involved in some wrong doctrines and false teachings, in misconceptions and wrong notions, then now, while God is giving you the time and opportunity to rectify your beliefs and situation and come out of the wrong things, do so; lest by the time you realize and decide to do so, it is very late and beyond the point of correction.

If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord Jesus, then take a decision in its favor now to secure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. The Lord's security and blessings are present where there is obedience of the Lord, where His Word is honored and followed. If you are still not Born Again, have not obtained salvation, or have not asked the Lord Jesus for forgiveness for your sins, then you have the time and opportunity to do so right now. Ask the Lord Jesus to forgive your sins, and voluntarily and sincerely surrender yourselves into His hands - this is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. All you have to do is say a short prayer, voluntarily and with a sincere heart, with heartfelt repentance for your sins, and a fully submissive attitude. You can do this in this manner, “Lord Jesus, I confess that I have disobeyed You, and have knowingly or unknowingly, in mind, in thought, in attitude, and in deeds, committed sins. I believe that you have fully borne the punishment of my sins by your sacrifice on the cross, and have paid the full price of those sins for all eternity. Please forgive my sins, change my heart and mind towards you, and make me your disciple, take me with you." God longs for your company and wants to see you blessed, but to make this possible, is your personal decision. One prayer said with a sincere and surrendered heart will turn your present and future, your life here on earth and in the next world, forever and make you heavenly and blessed. Will you not say this prayer now, while you have the time and opportunity to do so? The decision is yours.

कल हमने प्रभु यीशु मसीह में विश्वास करने के अर्थ को देखना आरंभ किया था। हमने इसे समझने के लिए परमेश्वर के वचन बाइबल में से दो पदों, मत्ती 1:21 और यूहन्ना 1:12 को लिया था। हमने मत्ती 1:21 के आधार पर कल यह देखा था कि प्रभु यीशु मसीह का जन्म ही लोगों को उनके पापों से छुटकारा देने और अनन्तकाल के लिए उनका उद्धार करने के उद्देश्य से हुआ था। प्रभु यीशु मसीह ही वे एकमात्र हैं जो मनुष्यों को उनके पापों से छुटकारा प्रदान कर सकते हैं, किसी भी मनुष्य के द्वारा अपने आप या अपने लिए यह कर पाना कभी संभव नहीं होने पाया था। किन्तु साथ ही हमने इस अति महत्वपूर्ण तथ्य को भी देखा था कि प्रभु यीशु मसीह द्वारा उपलब्ध करवाया गया यह छुटकारा और उद्धार केवल उनके जीवनों में ही कारगर होने पता है जो वास्तव में प्रभु यीशु के लोग हैं। जिसे भी यह छुटकारा और उद्धार चाहिए उसे पहले प्रभु का जन बनना पड़ेगा, और तब प्रभु द्वारा उपलब्ध करवाया गया यह उपाय उसके जीवन में कार्यकारी हो सकेगा। प्रभु का जन बनने का तरीका हमें यूहन्ना 1:12 में दिया गया है - स्वेच्छा से प्रभु यीशु को ग्रहण करना, और उसके नाम पर विश्वास करना। प्रभु यीशु का जन होना किसी मानवीय पद्धति या क्रिया से, किसी धर्म के अन्तर्गत जन्म लेने, उसका पालन और निर्वाह करने से, अथवा अन्य किसी प्रकार से संभव नहीं है। 

“परन्तु जितनों ने उसे ग्रहण किया, उसने उन्हें परमेश्वर के सन्तान होने का अधिकार दिया, अर्थात उन्हें जो उसके नाम पर विश्वास रखते हैं। वे न तो लहू से, न शरीर की इच्छा से, न मनुष्य की इच्छा से, परन्तु परमेश्वर से उत्पन्न हुए हैं” (यूहन्ना 1:12-13)। इन पदों का दूसरा अर्ध-भाग स्पष्ट कर देता है कि प्रभु यीशु मसीह को अपना उद्धारकर्ता ग्रहण करने वाले किसी मनुष्य के वंश अथवा प्रयास से नहीं वरन मसीह में अपने विश्वास के द्वारा “परमेश्वर से उत्पन्न हुए हैं।” और जिस विश्वास के द्वारा उनके लिए यह संभव हुआ है, वह इस पद के प्रथम अर्ध-भाग के अंत में दिया गया है, “जो उसके नाम पर विश्वास रखते हैं।” यहाँ इस वाक्यांश में एक छोटा सा शब्द ‘पर’ प्रमुख किया गया है, क्योंकि वही इस बात को समझने की कुंजी है। यह वाक्यांश बता रहा है कि प्रभु यीशु मसीह को वे ग्रहण करते हैं, परमेश्वर की संतान वे बनते हैं जो “उसके नाम” पर विश्वास करते हैं। 

इसे समझने के लिए इन दोनों शब्दों, “उसके” और “यीशु” को देखिए। यूहन्ना 1 अध्याय में इन पदों से पहले के पदों को देखने से स्पष्ट हो जाता है कि बात उस “वचन” अर्थात सृष्टिकर्ता परमेश्वर की हो रही है, जो देहधारी होकर जगत में आया। अर्थात “उसके” से अभिप्राय उस सृष्टिकर्ता परमेश्वर से है जिसने मानव देह में होकर जन्म लिया। इस मानव देह में अवतरित परमेश्वर का नाम “यीशु” रखा गया। शब्द हिन्दी का शब्द “यीशु” बाइबल के नए नियम खंड की मूल यूनानी भाषा के शब्द “ईएसोऊस (Iesous)” से आया है। यूनानी भाषा का नाम “ईएसोऊस” पुराने नियम की मूल इब्रानी भाषा के नाम “यहोशूआ” से आया है। इब्रानी भाषा का नाम “येहोशूआ” एक संयुक्त शब्द है, जो दो शब्दों, संज्ञा “यहोवा” एवं शब्द “शूआ” की संधि से बना है। संज्ञा “यहोवा” इब्रानी में परमेश्वर का नाम है; और इब्रानी शब्द “शूआ” का अर्थ होता है “मुक्ति देने वाला” या “स्वतंत्र करने वाला”। अर्थात मूल इब्रानी भाषा के अनुसार शब्द “यहोशूआ” और उससे निकले यूनानी शब्द “ईएसोऊस” तथा हिन्दी शब्द “यीशु” का अर्थ है “यहोवा ही मुक्ति या स्वतंत्रता देने वाला है”। इसलिए यूहन्ना 1:12 के वाक्यांश “जो उसके नाम पर विश्वास रखते हैं” का अभिप्राय हो गया “जो यह विश्वास रखते हैं कि यहोवा ही मुक्ति या स्वतंत्रता देने वाला है”।

अर्थात, यीशु पर विश्वास करने, उस ग्रहण करने और इस के कारण परमेश्वर की संतान हो जाने का तात्पर्य है, इस तथ्य को ग्रहण करना या अपने जीवन में स्वीकार करना तथा कार्यान्वित करना कि केवल प्रभु यीशु मसीह ही वह एकमात्र है जिसके द्वारा पापों से मुक्ति, नश्वर संसार से स्वतंत्रता मिल सकती है। प्रभु यीशु मसीह के अतिरिक्त और कोई मार्ग अथवा माध्यम या तरीका नहीं है, जैसा कि प्रभु यीशु मसीह ने स्वयं भी अपने विषय में कहा, “यीशु ने उस से कहा, मार्ग और सच्चाई और जीवन मैं ही हूं; बिना मेरे द्वारा कोई पिता के पास नहीं पहुंच सकता” (यूहन्ना 14:6)। मनुष्यों के अपने किसी भी प्रयास, विधि, कर्म, धर्म, जीवन शैली, आदि के द्वारा उसे उसके पापों से यह मुक्ति या स्वतंत्रता कदापि नहीं मिल सकती है। यह केवल प्रभु यीशु मसीह के नाम पर लाए गए विश्वास द्वारा ही संभव है; किसी अन्य तरीके से नहीं। जो कोई भी स्वेच्छा और सत्य-निष्ठा से इस प्रकार प्रभु यीशु का जन हो जाएगा, मत्ती 1:21 के अनुसार, प्रभु यीशु उसे पापों से छुटकारा और सुरक्षा प्रदान करेगा, और वह परमेश्वर की संतान हो जाएगा। 

कल और आज के लेखों का सम्मिलित निष्कर्ष है कि परमेश्वर के वचन बाइबल के अनुसार प्रभु यीशु मसीह पर विश्वास करने का अर्थ है यह ग्रहण करना और अपने जीवन में कार्यान्वित करना कि केवल और केवल प्रभु यीशु मसीह ही मुझे मेरे पापों से छुड़ा सकता है, सुरक्षित कर सकता है; और जब मैं इस बात को ग्रहण करके अपने आप को उसे समर्पित कर दूँगा, उसका जन बना जाऊँगा, तब प्रभु यीशु मुझे मेरे पापों से छुड़ा कर उनके दुष्प्रभावों से सुरक्षित भी कर देगा, और परमेश्वर की संतान बनाकर उसका मेल-मिलाप परमेश्वर के साथ करवा देता है।

कल हम कुछ ऐसी बातों के बारे में देखेंगे, जिन पर सामान्यतः लोग भरोसा रखते हैं कि उनके द्वारा वे प्रभु के जन बन जाएंगे और पापों से छुटकारा एवं सुरक्षा पा जाएंगे, किन्तु यह केवल उनका भ्रम है, बाइबल की सच्चाई नहीं। यदि आपने अभी तक अपने आप को प्रभु यीशु मसीह की शिष्यता में समर्पित नहीं किया है, और आप अभी भी अपने जन्म अथवा संबंधित धर्म तथा उसकी रीतियों के पालन के आधार पर अपने आप को प्रभु का जन समझ रहे हैं, तो आपको भी अपनी इस गलतफहमी से बाहर निकलकर सच्चाई को स्वीकार करने और उसका पालन करने की आवश्यकता है। आज और अभी आपके पास अपनी अनन्तकाल की स्थिति को सुधारने का अवसर है; प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

English Translation

Understanding the Meaning of “Believe in His Name”

In the last article, we had started to see the meaning of believing in the Lord Jesus Christ. To understand this, we had taken two verses - Matthew 1:21 and John 1:12, from God’s Word. We had seen on the basis of Matthew 1:21 that the Lord Jesus was born to deliver people from their sins and to save them for eternity. The Lord Jesus is the one and only one who can deliver people from their sins; and it had never been possible for anyone, ever, to do this on his own or for himself.  But we had also seen a very important fact about this deliverance and salvation provided by the Lord Jesus Christ, that it becomes effective only in the lives of those who become “His people.” Whoever wants to have this deliverance and salvation from the Lord, will first have to become “His people” and only then will this provision from the Lord become applicable for him, and effective in his life. The way to become “His people” is given to us in John 1:12 - to willingly accept the Lord Jesus and believe in His name. Other than this, there is no other way, nor any man-made process, nor is it because of being born under and following any religion, by which one can become “His people.” 

“But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God” (John 1:12-13). These verses, especially their latter part also make it very clear that those who accept the Lord Jesus as their saviour are granted this privilege not because of being born in any particular family, nor do they accomplish this by any of their efforts of any kind. But it is only by their coming to faith in the Lord Jesus that they are born “of God.” The way by which they have come to faith in the Lord Jesus is stated in the former part of the verses, “those who believe in His name.” A small word “in” (in most English translations ‘in’ is used, some translations use ‘on’ instead of ‘in’ but the meaning and implication remains the same, whichever is used), that has been made prominent, holds the key to understanding this statement. This phrase or statement from these verses is telling us that “those who believe in His name”, only they are the ones who have actually accepted the Lord or come to faith in Him, and become the children of God. 

To understand this, we will also look at two other words, “His” and “Jesus.” When we look at the preceding verses in John 1, it becomes clear to us that the subject of this verse is the creator God, the “Word” that came to earth in human form.  This incarnate God, for His human form, was given the name “Jesus.” The word ‘Jesus’ is the translated form of the Greek word ‘Iesous’; and ‘Iesous’ has come from the original Hebrew Old Testament name ‘Jehoshua.’ The noun ‘Jehoshua’ is a compound word, and is made up of two words “Jehovah” and “shua.” The noun “Jehovah” is the Hebrew language expression or name of God; whereas the Hebrew word “shua” means ‘the one who liberates’ or ‘the one who sets free.’ Therefore, the meaning of the Hebrew word ‘Jehoshua’, its Greek translation ‘Iesous’, and its English translation ‘Jesus’, is “Jehovah liberates/sets free” or “Jehovah delivers and makes safe.” Through this, i.e., the meaning of the John 1:12 phrase “those who believe in His name”, is now apparent, it means “those who believe and accept that it is only Jehovah who liberates/sets free.”

Therefore, to believe in the Lord Jesus, to accept Him and thereby become a child of God means to believe in and accept the fact that the Lord Jesus is the one and only one who can liberate or set free from sin and the perishing world; and then to live one’s life according to this acceptance. God’s Word, the Bible, testifies to this, that other than the Lord Jesus there is no other way to be set free from sin, at other places too. The Lord Jesus said this about Himself “Jesus said to him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me” (John 14:6). No man can be liberated or set free from sin by any of his works, good deeds, religion, lifestyle, etc. This is only possible by believing in the name, i.e., in the meaning of the name of Jesus. Whosoever, willingly and sincerely, will become “His People” in this manner, as per Matthew 1:21, the Lord Jesus will deliver him from his sins and make him safe, he will become a child of God.

The collective conclusion of yesterday’s and today’s articles is that Biblically speaking, to believe in the Lord Jesus Christ means, to accept and apply in one’s life the fact that only and only the Lord Jesus can set me free from my sins and make me safe; and when a person accepts this and submits his life to the Lord Jesus to live in obedience to Him, he becomes “His people,” and the Lord Jesus cleanses him from his sins and secures him from their harmful effects, reconciles him with God as a child of God.

In the next article we will look at some things on which many people trust in, to become the Lord’s people and to be made free from sin and its effects; but these are only their assumptions, a delusion; and not the actual Biblical truth. If you are still thinking of yourself as being a Christian, because of being born in a particular family and having fulfilled the religious rites and rituals prescribed under your religion or denomination since your childhood, then you too need to come out of your misunderstanding of Biblical facts and start understanding and living according to what the Word of God says, instead of what any denominational creed says or teaches.

If you are still not Born Again, have not obtained salvation, or have not asked the Lord Jesus for forgiveness for your sins, then you have the opportunity to do so right now. A short prayer said voluntarily with a sincere heart, with heartfelt repentance for your sins, and a fully submissive attitude, “Lord Jesus, I confess that I have disobeyed You, and have knowingly or unknowingly, in mind, in thought, in attitude, and in deeds, committed sins. I believe that you have fully borne the punishment of my sins by your sacrifice on the cross, and have paid the full price of those sins for all eternity. Please forgive my sins, change my heart and mind towards you, and make me your disciple, take me with you." God longs for your company and wants to see you blessed, but to make this possible, is your personal decision. Will you not say this prayer now, while you have the time and opportunity to do so - the decision is yours.
