हम यूहन्ना 13 से, प्रभु द्वारा फसह का पर्व मनाते समय, फसह की सामग्री से प्रभु भोज को स्थापित करने से ठीक पहले हुई बातों और घटनाओं को देख रहे हैं। पिछले लेख में हमने पद 18-19 से देखा था कि प्रभु यीशु के जीवन में परमेश्वर के वचन का पालन करने का क्या स्थान था; और इसी प्रकार से जो लोग प्रभु भोज में भाग लेते हैं उन्हें भी इस बात में प्रभु का अनुसरण करना है। साथ ही, यूहन्ना 13:19 में प्रभु वार्तालाप का ध्यान शिष्यों की भावी गतिविधि की ओर लेकर जाता है। अभी तक, यहाँ पर, यूहन्ना 13 में, प्रभु यीशु की शिष्यों के साथ फसह से संबंधित बातचीत में, शिष्यों की भावी सेवकाई का कोई उल्लेख नहीं हुआ था। यूहन्ना 13:19 में, प्रभु वार्तालाप के विषय को बदल कर शिष्यों की भावी सेवकाई से सम्बन्धित बात पर ले आता है। अभी तक यहां यूहन्ना 13 में, फसह से सम्बन्धित प्रभु के शिष्यों के साथ वार्तालाप में, शिष्यों की भावी सेवकाई का कोई उल्लेख नहीं हुआ है। किन्तु संभावित भावी घटनाओं के बारे में बात करते हुए, पद 19 में, प्रभु न केवल उन शिष्यों को आश्वस्त करता है कि वे घटनाएं भी उसके दावों की पुष्टि ही करेंगी; साथ ही प्रभु उन्हें उनके ओहदे और आशीषों के लिए भी आश्वस्त करता है। प्रभु जानता था कि उन्हें आने वाले दिनों में, जब वे सुसमाचार प्रचार के लिए संसार में निकलेंगे, तब उन्हें इन सभी बातों को सदा ध्यान में रखने की आवश्यकता पड़ेगी ।

यहाँ, यूहन्ना 13:20 में, प्रभु शिष्यों से कोई नई बात नहीं कह रहा है। वह उन्हें यही बात तब भी कह चुका था जब उसने पहली बार उन्हें सेवकाई के लिए भेजा था (मत्ती 10:40-42)। इसके बाद भी अपनी सेवकाई के दौरान प्रभु ने शिष्यों को उनके ईश्वरीय अधिकार और सहारे की बात बताई थी (मरकुस 9:37; लूका 10:16; यूहन्ना 12:44-45)। अब, उसे पकड़ कर क्रूस पर मारे जाने के लिए ले जाए जाने से पहले, प्रभु फिर से उन्हें इस बात को याद दिला रहा है। इस अनुपम आदर और विशेषाधिकार के बारे में प्रभु द्वारा बारंबार शिष्यों को याद दिलाना, उनके लिए और उनके जीवनों में इन बातों के महत्व का सूचक है; और इस बात का भी कि प्रभु के लिए उनकी सेवकाई में भी इसे याद रखना बहुत आवश्यक तथा महत्वपूर्ण है। उन्हें कभी यह नहीं सोचना चाहिए कि उन्हें एक खतरनाक अभियान पर, बिना किसी अधिकार और सामर्थ्य के भेज दिया गया। वरन उनके पास तो सर्वाधिक सामर्थ्य और सृष्टि की सर्वोच्च सहायता और अधिकार है - स्वयं परमेश्वर से।

प्रभु ने अपने लोगों को अपनी सेवकाई की ज़िम्मेदारी सौंपी है (इफिसियों 2:10), उस निर्धारित सेवकाई के लिए प्रत्येक को उपयुक्त आत्मिक वरदान दिए हैं (रोमियों 12:6-8; 1 कुरिन्थियों 12:7), और उस सेवकाई को पूरा करने में प्रभु की सामर्थ्य भी प्रभु के शिष्यों के साथ रहती है, उनमें होकर कार्य करती है (प्रेरितों 1:8)। इसलिए प्रभु यीशु मसीह के शिष्यों को, परमेश्वर के लोग होकर जीने के लिए, कभी भी मनुष्यों से डरने और मनुष्यों के बनाए हुए नियमों के अधीन होने की कोई आवश्यकता नहीं है।

किन्तु हमेशा ही कोई भी विशेषाधिकार और ओहदा, और सामर्थ्य बिना उससे जुड़ी हुई जिम्मेदारियों के नहीं मिलते हैं; साथ ही उन जिम्मेदारियों को भी लेना और निभाना पड़ता है। अपनी पृथ्वी की सेवकाई के आरंभिक समय में ही, अपने पहाड़ी उपदेश में, प्रभु ने अपने शिष्यों के सामने यह स्पष्ट कर दिया था कि उनसे क्या आशा रखी गई है। उन बातों में से एक थी कि उन्हें “पृथ्वी के नमक” तथा “जगत की ज्योति” के समान जीना है जिससे लोग उनके स्वर्गीय पिता की महिमा करें (मत्ती 5:13-16)।

हम इन विशेषाधिकारों और जिम्मेदारियों के बारे में अगले लेख में भी देखना ज़ारी रखेंगे।

यदि आप एक मसीही विश्वासी हैं, और प्रभु की मेज़ में भाग लेते रहे हैं, तो कृपया अपने जीवन को जाँच कर देख लें कि आप वास्तव में पापों से छुड़ाए गए हैं तथा आप ने अपना जीवन प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता में जीने के लिए उस को समर्पित किया है। आपके लिए यह अनिवार्य है कि आप परमेश्वर के वचन की सही शिक्षाओं को जानने के द्वारा एक परिपक्व विश्वासी बनें, तथा सभी शिक्षाओं को वचन की कसौटी पर परखने, और बेरिया के विश्वासियों के समान, लोगों की बातों को पहले वचन से जाँचने और उनकी सत्यता को निश्चित करने के बाद ही उनको स्वीकार करने और मानने वाले बनें (प्रेरितों 17:11; 1 थिस्सलुनीकियों 5:21)। अन्यथा शैतान द्वारा छोड़े हुए झूठे प्रेरित और भविष्यद्वक्ता मसीह के सेवक बन कर (2 कुरिन्थियों 11:13-15) अपनी ठग विद्या और चतुराई से आपको प्रभु के लिए अप्रभावी कर देंगे और आप के मसीही जीवन एवं आशीषों का नाश कर देंगे।

यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

The Lord’s Table - A Remembrance for Honoring God Given Status & Privileges (1)   

We are seeing from John 13, the events immediately preceding the Lord’s establishing the Holy Communion while celebrating the Passover, using the elements of the Passover. In the last article we saw from verses 18-19 the place in Lord Jesus’s life of going by the Word of God; and how the Lord’s Table should remind those partaking in it to emulate the Lord for this. In John 13:19, the Lord shifts the focus of conversation to something related to the future activities of the disciples. As yet, here in John 13, in the Lord’s conversation with the disciples related to the Passover there had been no allusion to the future ministry of the disciples. But talking of the possible future events, in verse 19, not only does the Lord reassure the disciples that those events will only reaffirm His claims about Himself, but also reassures them of their status and blessings. The Lord knew that they will need to keep all these things in mind in the days to come, when they step out into the world to preach the gospel.

Here, in John 13:20, the Lord is not saying anything new to the disciples. He had already said the same to them when He sent them out the first time for ministry (Matthew 10:40-42). He had reminded them of this divine authority and backing that they had as His disciples, during His earthly ministry as well (Mark 9:37; Luke 10:16; John 12:44-45). Now, just before His being caught and taken for death by crucifixion, He again reminds them of it. The Lord’s repeatedly reminding the disciples of this unique authority and privilege is an indicator of its importance in their lives, and the necessity of the disciples of the Lord to always bear it in mind, when working for the Lord. They should not think of themselves as being sent on a dangerous mission without any authority or backing; instead, they had the highest possible backing, and they had the authorization to fulfil their mission from the highest possible authority of the universe - God Himself.

The Lord has entrusted the responsibility of His ministry to His people (Ephesians 2:10), has given appropriate spiritual gifts to carry out that ministry (Romans 12:6-8; 1 Corinthians 12:7), and the power from the Lord is always with the people of the Lord, and works through them (Acts 1:8). Therefore, the disciples of the Lord Jesus, when living as the people of God, do not have to fear men or subject themselves to man-made regulations.

But privileges, status, and authority always come with responsibilities, which have to be accepted and fulfilled. Right in the initial stage of His earthly ministry, in His Sermon on the Mount, the Lord had made clear to His disciples, what was expected of them. One of the things they had to do was to serve as “salt of the earth” and “light of the world” so that through them the people of the world would glorify our Heavenly Father (Matthew 5:13-16).

We will continue considering these privileges and responsibilities in the next article.

If you are a Christian Believer and have been participating in the Lord’s Table, then please examine your life and make sure that you are actually a disciple of the Lord, i.e., are redeemed from your sins, have submitted and surrendered your life to the Lord Jesus to live in obedience to Him and His Word. You should also always, like the Berean Believers, first check and test all teachings that you receive from the Word of God, and only after ascertaining the truth and veracity of the teachings brought to you by men, should you accept and obey them (Acts 17:11; 1 Thessalonians 5:21). If you do not do this, the false apostles and prophets sent by Satan as ministers of Christ (2 Corinthians 11:13-15), will by their trickery, cunningness, and craftiness render you ineffective for the Lord and cause severe damage to your Christian life and your rewards.

If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord Jesus, then to ensure your eternal life and heavenly rewards, take a decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now. Wherever there is surrender and obedience towards the Lord Jesus, the Lord’s blessings and safety are also there. If you are still not Born Again, have not obtained salvation, or have not asked the Lord Jesus for forgiveness for your sins, then you have the opportunity to do so right now. A short prayer said voluntarily with a sincere heart, with heartfelt repentance for your sins, and a fully submissive attitude, “Lord Jesus, I confess that I have disobeyed You, and have knowingly or unknowingly, in mind, in thought, in attitude, and in deeds, committed sins. I believe that you have fully borne the punishment of my sins by your sacrifice on the cross, and have paid the full price of those sins for all eternity. Please forgive my sins, change my heart and mind towards you, and make me your disciple, take me with you." God longs for your company and wants to see you blessed, but to make this possible, is your personal decision. Will you not say this prayer now, while you have the time and opportunity to do so - the decision is yours.

पिछले लेखों में हमने देखा है कि प्रभु यीशु द्वारा उसकी कलीसिया में नियुक्त किए गए सेवकों की खरी तथा समर्पित सेवकाई के द्वारा, प्रभु यीशु के विश्वासी, उसकी कलीसिया के लोग “सिद्ध”, अर्थात सेवकाई के लिए तत्पर और तैयार होते हैं; साथ ही कलीसिया में सेवकाई का काम भी होता है, तथा  कलीसिया की उन्नति भी होती है। मसीह यीशु के विश्वासियों तथा प्रभु की कलीसिया में इन तीन बातों के होने से कुछ और प्रभाव भी आते हैं, जिन्हें इफिसियों 4:13-16 में बताया गया है। पिछले लेख में हमने इनमें से 13 पद में दिए गए प्रभावों को देखना आरम्भ किया है; और देखा है कि इस पद में भी क्रमवार उन्नति की तीन सीढ़ियाँ दी गई हैं। पहली सीढ़ी, एक ही विश्वास तथा प्रभु की एक ही पहचान में होने के बारे में देखने के बाद, आज हम पद 13 में दी गई दूसरी तथा तीसरी सीढ़ियों के बारे में देखेंगे। 

मसीही विश्वास और प्रभु यीशु की पहचान में एक हो जाने के बाद इफिसियों 4:13 में दिए गए क्रम में दूसरा है, जब तक कि, “एक सिद्ध मनुष्य न बन जाएं”। ध्यान कीजिए कि 4:12 में भी “सिद्ध” होने - “जिससे पवित्र लोग सिद्ध हों जाएं” की बात की गई है; किन्तु मूल यूनानी भाषा में “सिद्ध” होने के लिए 4:12 और 4:13 में प्रयोग किए गए शब्द भिन्न हैं। मूल यूनानी भाषा में जो शब्द 4:12 में प्रयोग किया गया है उसका अर्थ होता है “पूर्णतः सुसज्जित” होना, अर्थात किसी भी कार्य या ज़िम्मेदारी के निर्वाह के लिए पूरी तरह से तैयार और आवश्यक संसाधनों एवं उपकरणों तथा समझ-बूझ से लैस होना, जैसा हमने पिछले लेख में देखा है; किन्तु 4:13 में प्रयोग किए गए जिस शब्द का अनुवाद “सिद्ध” किया गया है, उसका शब्दार्थ होता है “संपूर्ण” या “हर रीति से ठीक और सही” - अर्थात वास्तव में “सिद्ध” - जो परिपूर्ण, या दोषरहित हो। 4:13 में दिए गए इस क्रम से अभिप्राय स्पष्ट है - जब कलीसिया और मसीही विश्वासी, सब के सब विश्वास, और परमेश्वर के पुत्र की पहचान में एक हो जाएंगे, तो इससे फिर वे अपने मसीही जीवन और विश्वास में भी सभी त्रुटियों और गलत शिक्षाओं, गलत व्यवहार, आचरण, और परंपराओं आदि से मुक्त हो जाएंगे; और परिपूर्ण, या दोषरहित हो जाएंगे - सिद्ध हो जाएंगे। और प्रभु परमेश्वर के सिद्ध लोगों का समूह, प्रभु की कलीसिया भी, तब सिद्ध हो जाएगी। इसलिए कलीसिया और व्यक्तिगत मसीही जीवन में इस “सिद्धता” का होना, इस बात का प्रमाण होगा कि वह मसीही विश्वासी, वह कलीसिया वास्तव में परिपक्व है, परमेश्वर की इच्छा के अनुसार है।

इस सिद्धता के बाद, 4:13 में दिया गया अगला क्रम है “मसीह के पूरे डील डौल तक न बढ़ जाएं”। बाइबल हमें सिखाती है कि प्रभु परमेश्वर हम सभी मसीही विश्वासियों को अंश-अंश करके मसीह यीशु की समानता में, उसके रूप में ढालता, या परिवर्तित करता जा रहा है (2 कुरिन्थियों 3:18), ताकि उसके विश्वासी मसीह के स्वरूप में हों, और मसीह “बहुत भाइयों में पहलौठा ठहरे” (रोमियों 8:29)। इस बात की गंभीरता और महत्व का एहसास करते हुए पौलुस अपनी जीवन शैली मसीह यीशु के समान रखने में प्रयासरत रहता था, तथा उसने सभी मसीही विश्वासियों को भी उसके समान यही करने के लिए कहा (1 कुरिन्थियों 1:11; 1 थिस्सलुनीकियों 4:1)। परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा ने परस्पर प्रेम, दीनता, नम्रता, और एक मनता के संदर्भ में लिखवाया, जैसा मसीह यीशु का स्‍वभाव था वैसा ही तुम्हारा भी स्‍वभाव हो (फिलिप्पियों 2:5)। प्रभु यीशु मसीह के जीवन का उद्देश्य था हर बात में पिता परमेश्वर की आज्ञाकारिता में बने रहना तथा उसको आदर और महिमा देना। प्रत्येक मसीही विश्वासी द्वारा भी हर बात में, दिनचर्या की छोटी से छोटी और किसी गंभीर विचार के योग्य न समझी जाने वाली बात से भी परमेश्वर को महिमा मिलनी चाहिए, सो तुम चाहे खाओ, चाहे पीओ, चाहे जो कुछ करो, सब कुछ परमेश्वर की महिमा के लिये करो (1 कुरिन्थियों 10:31)। जब मसीही विश्वासियों, और उनसे बनी हुई कलीसिया में यह परिपक्वता, मसीह यीशु के समान जीवन शैली दिखाई देगी, तो वे मसीह यीशु के डील-डौल तक भी बढ़े हुए कहलाएंगे।

यदि आप एक मसीही विश्वासी हैं, तो इस वचन के समक्ष अपने मसीही विश्वास, जीवन, और सेवकाई का आँकलन करके देख लीजिए कि आप किसी मत या डिनॉमिनेशन की मनुष्यों की शिक्षाओं के पालन में लगे हुए हैं, या परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा की आज्ञाकारिता में परमेश्वर के वचन को सीखने और उसका पालन करने में लगे हैं। जब तक आपके मसीही विश्वास और प्रभु यीशु के बारे में समझ परमेश्वर के वचन के अनुरूप नहीं होंगे, न आप सिद्ध हो सकेंगे, और न ही मसीह यीशु के डील-डौल तक पहुँच सकेंगे, वरन मनुष्यों और उनकी संस्थाओं की बातों के व्यर्थ निर्वाह में ही समय और अवसर गँवाते रहेंगे। कही ऐसा न हो कि जब तक आप सही बात को समझें और उसका पालन करने की इच्छा रखें तब तक बहुत देर हो चुकी हो, और बातों को ठीक करने का समय तथा अवसर निकल चुका हो।

यदि आपने अभी तक प्रभु की शिष्यता को स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी उसके पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। यदि आपने अभी तक नया जन्म, उद्धार नहीं पाया है, प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा नहीं माँगी है, तो अभी आपके पास समय और अवसर है कि यह कर लें। प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” परमेश्वर आपके साथ संगति रखने की बहुत लालसा रखता है तथा आपको आशीषित देखना चाहता है, लेकिन इसे सम्भव करना आपका व्यक्तिगत निर्णय है। सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी। क्या आप अभी समय और अवसर होते हुए, इस प्रार्थना को नहीं करेंगे? निर्णय आपका है।

The Signs of Maturity in the Believers Life (2)

We have seen in the previous articles that through the sincere and diligent ministry of the ministers appointed by the Lord Jesus, the Christian Believers and the Church of the Lord, are perfected or prepared, these perfected or prepared people of God then carry out their ministries worthily and diligently, which results in the growth and edification of the Church and in the lives of the Believers. Through these three things, as given in Ephesians 4:13-16, some other effects also come in. Since the previous article we have started to consider the effects given in verse 13; and have seen that there is a three step serially increasing order of growth given here. Having seen about the first step, i.e., unity of faith and knowledge of the Lord, today we will consider the second and third steps given in verse 13.

After coming to unity in Christian Faith and the understanding of the Lord Jesus, the next step given in Ephesians 4:13 is attain “to a perfect man.” Take note, that although being perfect has been stated in Ephesians 4:12 also, but in these two verses, the words used in the original Greek language, and translated as “perfect” are different. The word used in Ephesians 4:12 means to be thoroughly prepared and equipped or made ready, equipped with all necessities to face all situations; but the word used in 4:13 means to “be complete in all manner”, or “be correct in every way”; or, actually being “perfect” i.e., faultless and complete. From the order of mentioning these effects in 4:13, it is evident that when the Christian Believers and the Church, have all come to unity and are united in Faith and understanding of the Lord Jesus, then this will lead them into being without any error or fault or shortcoming in teachings, behavior, attitude, related to the Christian Faith, and they will be set free from following and fulfilling traditions, rites, and rituals - i.e., will become complete, and faultless - perfect. Then the Church of the Lord Jesus - the group of the Christian Believers, will also become complete and faultless - perfect. Therefore, the evidence of perfection being present in the lives of Christian Believers, and the Church shows that they are actually grown-up, mature and according to the will of God.

After this, the next effect or step given in 4:13 is having attained “to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ.” The Bible teaches us that the Lord God is gradually transforming all the Christian Believers into the likeness of the Lord Jesus, bit-by-bit (2 Corinthians 3:18), so that His Believers come to be in the likeness of the Lord Jesus, and He is the “firstborn among many Brethren” (Romans 8:29). Realizing the seriousness and importance of this, Paul continually strived to conform his life to the Lord’s and exhorted the other Christian Believers too, that they do the same (1 Corinthians 1:11; 1 Thessalonians 4:1). God the Holy Spirit, had it written down for mutual love, meekness, humility, and unity, Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus (Philippians 2:5). The purpose and goal of the life of the Lord Jesus was to be fully obedient to God the Father and give Him all honor and glory. Similarly, every Christian Believer too should be always fully obedient to God and in all things, however trivial and mundane they may seem, however routine they may be, should glorify the Lord God Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God (1 Corinthians 10:31). When this growth and maturity becomes evident in the Christian Believers and the Church, then they will be known as those who have attained to “the stature of the fullness of Christ.”

    If you are a Christian Believer, then in light of this Word, evaluate and examine your Christian life and ministry for the Lord Jesus. Check and see whether you are actually a Christian Believer or one who merely follows and lives by the teachings and concepts of some group, sect, or denomination. Make sure that you are actually engaged in learning and obeying the Word of God, and not just the teachings of men from and about God’s Word. Unless and until you conform to God’s Word about the Christian Faith and about understanding the Lord Jesus, you will neither grow, nor be mature spiritually; neither will you be able to reach perfection nor will you attain to the stature of Christ. Instead, you will continue to waste your time, efforts, and energies in living according to and fulfilling the vain things from men and man-made institutions. May it not be that by the time you get to realize the facts and think of turning to the truth, it is too late, the time and opportunity are no longer available.

If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord Jesus, then take a decision in its favor now to secure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. The Lord's security and blessings are present where there is obedience of the Lord, where His Word is honored and followed. If you are still not Born Again, have not obtained salvation, or have not asked the Lord Jesus for forgiveness for your sins, then you have the time and opportunity to do so right now. Ask the Lord Jesus to forgive your sins, and voluntarily and sincerely surrender yourselves into His hands - this is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. All you have to do is say a short prayer, voluntarily and with a sincere heart, with heartfelt repentance for your sins, and a fully submissive attitude. You can do this in this manner, “Lord Jesus, I confess that I have disobeyed You, and have knowingly or unknowingly, in mind, in thought, in attitude, and in deeds, committed sins. I believe that you have fully borne the punishment of my sins by your sacrifice on the cross, and have paid the full price of those sins for all eternity. Please forgive my sins, change my heart and mind towards you, and make me your disciple, take me with you." God longs for your company and wants to see you blessed, but to make this possible, is your personal decision. One prayer said with a sincere and surrendered heart will turn your present and future, your life here on earth and in the next world, forever and make you heavenly and blessed. Will you not say this prayer now, while you have the time and opportunity to do so? The decision is yours.

मसीही जीवन में परिपक्वता के चिह्न (1)

पिछले लेखों में हमने इफिसियों 4:11 में दिए गए सेवकों के विवरण से देखा है कि प्रभु यीशु द्वारा उसकी कलीसिया में नियुक्त किए गए सेवकों की खरी तथा समर्पित सेवकाई के द्वारा, इफिसियों 4:12 के अनुसार, प्रभु यीशु के विश्वासी, उसकी कलीसिया के लोग “सिद्ध”, अर्थात सेवकाई के लिए तत्पर और तैयार होते हैं, कलीसिया में सेवा का काम होता है, और कलीसिया उन्नति पाती है। इसका उदाहरण हमने थिस्सलुनीकिया की कलीसिया के स्थापित होने तथा उन्नति करने से देखा था। मसीह यीशु की कलीसिया में इन तीन बातों के होने से कुछ और प्रभाव भी आते हैं, जिन्हें इफिसियों 4:13-16 में बताया गया है। आज हम इनमें से 13 पद में दिए गए प्रभावों को देखेंगे।

परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा ने पौलुस प्रेरित के द्वारा इफिसियों 4:13 में लिखवाया है, जब तक कि हम सब के सब विश्वास, और परमेश्वर के पुत्र की पहचान में एक न हो जाएं, और एक सिद्ध मनुष्य न बन जाएं और मसीह के पूरे डील डौल तक न बढ़ जाएं। इस वाक्य और पद के आरंभिक शब्द “जब तक” प्रभु द्वारा उसके विश्वासियों, उसके ‘पवित्र लोगों’ के लिए कलीसिया के रूप में, तथा व्यक्तिगत रीति से मसीही विश्वास एवं जीवन में उन्नति के चरम स्तर की ओर संकेत करते हैं। अर्थात, मसीही विश्वासियों की कलीसिया को, और व्यक्तिगत रीति से प्रभु के ‘पवित्र लोगों’ को कब तक उन्नत होते चले जाने के प्रयास में कार्यरत रहना है? इस पद में उत्तर दिया गया है - जब तक कि:

* हम सब के सब विश्वास, और परमेश्वर के पुत्र की पहचान में एक न हो जाएं

* एक सिद्ध मनुष्य न बन जाएं 

* मसीह के पूरे डील डौल तक न बढ़ जाएं

एक बार फिर, इससे पहले वाले 12 पद के समान ही यहाँ भी एक क्रम, उन्नति की एक के बाद एक सीढ़ी दी गई है। सबसे पहला लक्ष्य है प्रभु की कलीसिया के ‘सब के सब’ लोगों का विश्वास में और प्रभु यीशु की पहचान में एक हो जाना; उनके बारे में एक ही समझ, विचार, और दृष्टिकोण रखना (इफिसियों 4:1-6)। और यह होना अति-आवश्यक भी है, क्योंकि जब तक मसीही विश्वास तथा प्रभु यीशु मसीह से संबंधित बातों में, शिक्षाओं में, दृष्टिकोण में भिन्नता रहेगी, तब तक न तो कलीसिया के लोग साथ मिलकर रह सकेंगे, और न ही एक ही उद्देश्य के साथ सेवकाई कर सकेंगे। प्रभु की विश्वव्यापी कलीसिया के सभी लोगों को मसीही विश्वास और प्रभु यीशु मसीह के विषय समान समझ, विचार, और दृष्टिकोण रखना बहुत आवश्यक, वरन, अनिवार्य है। जब मसीह यीशु एक ही है, प्रभु यीशु का वचन एक ही है, उस वचन को सिखाने वाला परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा एक ही है, सारे संसार के सभी लोगों के लिए परमेश्वर से मेल-मिलाप और उद्धार का मार्ग एक ही है, तो फिर कलीसिया को भी एक ही होना है; कलीसिया में अलग-अलग विचारधाराओं और मान्यताओं के होने के लिए कोई स्थान ही नहीं है। किन्तु फिर भी आज का ईसाई या मसीही समाज, यहाँ तक कि मसीही विश्वासी भी आज अनेकों समुदायों, गुटों, और डिनॉमिनेशंस में विभाजित हैं, जो परस्पर टकराव और असहिष्णुता की स्थिति में भी रहते हैं। इस विभाजन का एक ही कारण, एक ही आधार है - प्रभु परमेश्वर और उसके वचन के अनुसार नहीं, वरन व्यक्तियों और उनकी, यानि कि मनुष्यों की शिक्षाओं के अनुसार चलना और गुट-बंदी करना। मसीहियों ने अपने आप को अगुवों और प्रचारकों के आधार पर विभाजित कर लिया है; यह वही स्थिति है जो शैतान ने आरंभिक कलीसिया के समय से ही कलीसियाओं में डाल दी थी (1 कुरिन्थियों 1:10-13; 3:1-7)।

इस सन्दर्भ में हम 1 कुरिन्थियों 3:1-7 से देखते हैं कि प्रभु के सेवकों का, अर्थात मनुष्यों का अनुसरण करने के आधार पर अपने आप को गुटों में विभाजित कर लेना आत्मिक अपरिपक्वता का, आत्मिक जन होने का नहीं वरन् शारीरिक मसीही होने का चिह्न है। और इस अपरिपक्वता के कारण मसीही विश्वासी वचन की ठोस या गूढ़ शिक्षाओं को ग्रहण नहीं कर पाते हैं; उन्हें ठोस आहार नहीं, बल्कि बच्चों का आहार - दूध ही देना पड़ता है। साथ ही यहाँ पर पौलुस, अपने और अपुल्लोस के उदाहरण से यह भी दिखा रहा है कि परिश्रम करने वाला सेवक चाहे कोई भी हो, सेवकाई का परिणाम परमेश्वर ही देता है। इसलिए मसीहियों को व्यक्तियों के नहीं, वरन् परमेश्वर और उसके वचन ही का अनुसरण करने वाले बनना चाहिए। 

अगले लेख में हम इफिसियों 4:12 में दिए गए दूसरी और तीसरी सीढ़ियों के बारे में देखेंगे। 

    यदि आपने अभी तक प्रभु की शिष्यता को स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी उसके पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। यदि आपने अभी तक नया जन्म, उद्धार नहीं पाया है, प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा नहीं माँगी है, तो अभी आपके पास समय और अवसर है कि यह कर लें। प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” परमेश्वर आपके साथ संगति रखने की बहुत लालसा रखता है तथा आपको आशीषित देखना चाहता है, लेकिन इसे सम्भव करना आपका व्यक्तिगत निर्णय है। सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी। क्या आप अभी समय और अवसर होते हुए, इस प्रार्थना को नहीं करेंगे? निर्णय आपका है।

The Signs of Maturity in the Believers Life (1)

In the previous articles we have seen that through the ministries given in Ephesians 4:11, sincerely and diligently carried out by the workers appointed by the Lord Jesus for those ministries, the Church and the Christian Believers grow spiritually, are edified, and mature in a progressive manner, as given in Ephesians 4:12-16. In Ephesians 4:12 we have the initial steps to this maturity - the saints, i.e., the Christian Believers or the children of God by Faith, are perfected or prepared, these perfected or prepared people of God carry out their ministries worthily and diligently, which will result in the growth and edification of the Church and in their own lives. We saw this illustrated through the example of the establishment and growth of the Church in Thessalonica. In the Church of the Lord Jesus and life of Christian Believers, after these initial effects or steps, some other effects or steps also occur, as given in Ephesians 4:13-16. Today we will see the steps or effects given in verse 13.

God the Holy Spirit, through the Apostle Paul, has had it written in Ephesians 4:13 till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ. The initial word “till” of this sentence and verse indicates the highest state or the upper limit of the growth and maturity of a Christian Believer and the Church. In other words, Christian Believers and the Church have to grow and mature till the things mentioned in this verse are accomplished in their lives. These things indicating the ultimate state are:

* till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God

* to a perfect man

* to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ

Once again, as in the preceding verse 12, there is a progression, a series of steps for the growth. The first goal is that all the members of the Lord’s Church come to unity of faith and the knowledge of the Lord Jesus; i.e., develop a unified understanding, thinking, and point-of-view about the Lord (Ephesians 4:1-6). This is very necessary, rather mandatory too, because till we all have the same thinking and understanding about the Christian Faith and the things pertaining to the Lord Jesus, we will not be able to come to unity, nor sit together and work to achieve one and the same goal of serving the Lord. All the members of the world-wide Church of the Lord Jesus have come to a unified understanding about the Lord, His Church, and His work. When the Lord is one and the same, the Word of the Lord God is one and the same, the Teacher of that Word, God the Holy Spirit, is one and the same, the way of salvation and being reconciled with God is one, then the Church too should be one; why should there be any sanction or place for different doctrines, notions, and points-of-view in Christian Faith and the Church? But still in Christendom, even amongst Christian Believers, many groups, sects, divisions and denominations are seen; and very often they are in a state of mutual conflict and opposition, intolerant of each other. There is only one reason and basis for this state or divisions and disunity - people living and walking not according to the Word and teachings of the Lord Jesus, but according to the people who spoke to them, and the words that those leaders or elders preached and taught. The congregations have divided themselves according to their elders and preachers; which is the same state that Satan brought into the initial Churches, and Paul admonished them for (1 Corinthians 1:10-13; 3:1-7).

In this context we see from 1 Corinthians 3:1-7 that becoming followers of the ministers of the Lord, i.e., followers of men and dividing into groups on that basis is not a sign of being spiritual, but of being a carnal Christian. Because of this immaturity, the Christian Believers are unable to receive the solid food, i.e., the deep things of God's Word; therefore, they have to be given the food for children, i.e., milk. Moreover, here Paul, by using himself and Apollos as examples, is also showing that no matter who is the minister who is laboring, it is only the Lord God who gives the results of the ministry. Therefore, Christians should not be followers of people, but only follow the Lord God and His Word.

In the next article, we will consider the second and third steps given in Ephesians 4:12.

प्रभु यीशु के “एकमात्र उद्धारकर्ता” होने का अर्थ

पिछले लेखों में हम मत्ती 16:18 के आधार पर प्रभु यीशु मसीह की कलीसिया या मण्डली, अर्थात उसके द्वारा चुने और बुलाए गए लोगों का समूह होने के बारे में देखते आ रहे हैं। हम देख चुके हैं कि प्रभु ने अपने इन चुने हुए लोगों को पतरस पर आधारित करके नहीं बुलाया और स्थापित किया; वरन उन्हें अपने तथा अपने वचन की शिक्षाओं पर आधारित एवं स्थापित किया है। साथ ही हमने पिछले लेख में यह भी देखा था कि प्रभु की कलीसिया, अर्थात उसके बुलाए हुए लोग वे हैं जो उसे “मसीह” अर्थात परमेश्वर द्वारा नियुक्त और निर्धारित जगत का एकमात्र उद्धारकर्ता स्वीकार करते हैं।

“मसीही” कहलाना या समझे जाना, और वास्तविकता में वह सच्चा “मसीही” होना जिसकी बात प्रभु यीशु ने मत्ती 16:18 में की है, व्यवहारिक रीति से दो बिलकुल भिन्न बातें हैं। यद्यपि सामान्यतः यही समझा और माना जाता है कि किसी परिवार विशेष में जन्म लेने के आधार पर, या किसी धर्म, डिनॉमिनेशन, अथवा संस्था, या “चर्च” का सदस्य होने और उसकी प्रथाओं के निर्वाह, और कुछ अनुष्ठानों की पूर्ति, आदि के द्वारा व्यक्ति जन्म से ही ईसाई या मसीही होता है या फिर बन जाता है। किन्तु इस आम लेकिन गलत धारणा के विपरीत, परमेश्वर के वचन बाइबल की वास्तविकता यही है कि ऐसा करने से वह व्यक्ति समाज, कुछ लोगों, अथवा उस “चर्च” या डिनॉमिनेशन या संस्था के द्वारा तो “मसीही” माना और कहा जा सकता है; किन्तु अनिवार्य नहीं है कि वह वास्तव में प्रभु की दृष्टि में भी “मसीही” हो, प्रभु की कलीसिया या बुलाए हुए लोगों में सम्मिलित हो। क्योंकि जो कोई भी अपने परिवार, अपने धर्म, अपनी धार्मिकता, अपने कर्मों, अपनी “चर्च” या डिनॉमिनेशन या संस्था की सदस्यता, अपने द्वारा प्रथाओं के निर्वाह और अनुष्ठानों की पूर्ति आदि पर आधारित होकर प्रभु की कलीसिया का सदस्य होना चाहता अथवा समझता है, वह इस प्राथमिक आधारभूत बात की वास्तविकता की उपेक्षा कर देता है कि वह फिर प्रभु यीशु के जगत का एकमात्र उद्धारकर्ता होने पर नहीं, वरन प्रभु परमेश्वर के अतिरिक्त उस “चर्च” या डिनॉमिनेशन या संस्था की अन्य बातों पर भरोसा रख कर और उनका पालन करके ऐसा करना चाहता है, और यह प्रभु की कलीसिया में होने की मूल शर्त की अवहेलना करना है। यह इसलिए क्योंकि तब वह प्रभु यीशु के उसके लिए व्यक्तिगत रीति से उसका “मसीहा” होने पर, उसके परमेश्वर तक पहुँचने के एकमात्र मार्ग (यूहन्ना 14:6) के होने पर भरोसा नहीं कर रहा है, वरन, मनुष्यों द्वारा यीशु मसीह के नाम में बनाए गए नियमों और विधियों के पालन के द्वारा परमेश्वर तक पहुँचने पर भरोसा कर रहा है; मसीह यीशु के अतिरिक्त एक कर्मों के मार्ग द्वारा (इफिसियों 2:5, 8-9) परमेश्वर तक पहुँचने को मान रहा है और उसका पालन कर रहा है। जबकि बाइबल के अनुसार प्रभु को परमेश्वर का “मसीह” स्वीकार करना, पापों से पश्चाताप और मसीह यीशु को अपने जीवन के पूर्ण समर्पण के द्वारा होता है (रोमियों 10:9-10), वंश, धर्म, कर्मों, या अनुष्ठानों के द्वारा नहीं।

ध्यान कीजिए, जब यूहन्ना बपतिस्मा देने वाले ने प्रभु के आगमन के लिए लोगों को तैयार करना आरंभ किया तो उसके प्रचार का प्रथम और मुख्य विषय पश्चाताप करना था (मत्ती 3:1-2); यही प्रभु यीशु की सेवकाई का भी प्रथम और मुख्य विषय था (मरकुस 1:15); तथा प्रभु द्वारा शिष्यों को दिए गए अंतिम निर्देश का भी विषय था (लूका 24:47); यही शिष्यों के द्वारा किए गए पहले प्रचार का मुख्य विषय था (मरकुस 6:12); और पश्चाताप करना ही पतरस के द्वारा किए गए पहले प्रचार का प्रथम और मुख्य विषय था (प्रेरितों 2:38), जिससे प्रथम कलीसिया की स्थापना हुई थी; यही पौलुस के द्वारा किए गए प्रचार का मुख्य विषय था (प्रेरितों 20:21); और पुराने नियम के भविष्यद्वक्ताओं की सेवकाई का विषय भी यही था (यिर्मयाह 25:4-5)। इसलिए जब प्रभु ने उसे जगत का एकमात्र उद्धारकर्ता स्वीकार करने के आधार पर लोगों को बुलाने और अपने साथ एकत्रित करने, कलीसिया को बनाने की बात की, तो कोई अनूठा या नया विषय सामने नहीं रखा। प्रभु ने वही दृढ़ता से दोहराया और उसी की पुष्टि की जो पुराने नियम में भविष्यद्वक्ताओं की सेवकाई का विषय था, यूहन्ना बपतिस्मा देने वाले की सेवकाई का विषय था, प्रभु की अपनी सेवकाई का, और शिष्यों द्वारा की गई पहली सेवकाई का विषय था; और जो भविष्य में अन्य शिष्यों द्वारा की जाने वाली सेवकाई का भी विषय होना था। बिना अपने पापों से पश्चाताप किए और प्रभु यीशु को अपना जीवन पूर्णतः समर्पण करके जीवन में परिवर्तन किए (रोमियों 12:1-2) उद्धार पाने या परमेश्वर को स्वीकार्य प्रभु का जन हो जाने की कोई शिक्षा बाइबल में कहीं नहीं दी गई है। प्रभु का जन बनना प्रत्येक व्यक्ति के द्वारा व्यक्तिगत रीति से और स्वेच्छा से अपने पापों के लिए किए गए पश्चाताप, उन पापों की क्षमा और निवारण के लिए प्रभु यीशु द्वारा क्रूस पर किए गए कार्य को स्वीकार करने, और अपना जीवन पूर्णतः प्रभु को समर्पित करने के द्वारा होता है, चाहे उस व्यक्ति का जन्म किसी भी परिवार अथवा धर्म में हुआ हो, और चाहे उसने कितनी भी “ईसाई या मसीही” रीतियों और अनुष्ठानों को निभाया हो (प्रेरितों 17:30-31)। प्रभु को “मसीह” या परमेश्वर द्वारा नियुक्त जगत का एकमात्र उद्धारकर्ता होना स्वीकार करने का यही अभिप्राय है। प्रभु की कलीसिया या मण्डली उन ही लोगों से मिलकर बनी है जो इस मूल सिद्धांत को स्वीकार करके इसका पालन करते हैं; इसमें कुछ और जोड़ते-घटाते नहीं हैं, मनुष्यों की और उनके समझ-बुद्धि-ज्ञान की बातों को या बाइबल के बाहर की किसी अन्य बात को इसके साथ या इसके अतिरिक्त मानने या मनवाने का प्रयास नहीं करते हैं।

हम अगले लेख में देखेंगे कि क्यों ये बातें केवल शब्दों का खेल या भिन्न समझ रखने की बात नहीं है; क्यों ये इतनी महत्वपूर्ण हैं; और क्यों ये अनन्त जीवन का वारिस होने के लिए समझे और माने जाने के लिए अनिवार्य हैं। 

यदि आप मसीही हैं, तो अपने आप को जाँचिए और परखिए कि कहीं आप अपने परिवार, अपने कार्यों, अपने धर्म, अपने द्वारा रीतियों और अनुष्ठानों को निभाने, आदि बातों के आधार पर तो अपने आप को मसीही और प्रभु की कलीसिया का सदस्य तो नहीं समझ रहे हैं, या समझते आ रहे हैं? यदि ऐसा है तो आप एक बहुत बड़ी गलतफहमी में जी रहे हैं, और अभी समय रहते अपने पापों के लिए सच्चा पश्चाताप और प्रभु यीशु को संपूर्ण समर्पण कर के इसे सुधार लीजिए। कहीं ऐसा न  हो कि आप किसी झूठी, गढ़ी हुई बात, मानवीय बुद्धि द्वारा निर्मित विचारों, आदि के मसीहियत से सम्बन्धित भ्रम में जीते रह जाएं, और अंततः जब सच्चाई समझ में आए, आँख खुले, तब तक बहुत देर हो चुकी हो।

यदि आपने अभी तक प्रभु की शिष्यता को स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी उसके पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। यदि आपने अभी तक नया जन्म, उद्धार नहीं पाया है, प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा नहीं माँगी है, तो अभी आपके पास समय और अवसर है कि यह कर लें। प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” परमेश्वर आपके साथ संगति रखने की बहुत लालसा रखता है तथा आपको आशीषित देखना चाहता है, लेकिन इसे सम्भव करना आपका व्यक्तिगत निर्णय है। सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी। क्या आप अभी समय और अवसर होते हुए, इस प्रार्थना को नहीं करेंगे? निर्णय आपका है।

English Translation

Meaning of Jesus Christ “The Only Savior”

In the previous articles, based on Matthew 16:18, we have been looking at the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ, i.e., considering about the group of people called out and gathered together by Him. We have seen that the Lord did not base the group of His called-out people on Peter; but has based them upon and established them on Himself and His teachings. We had also seen in the last article that the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ, i.e., the group of people called out and gathered together by Him, are the ones who accept Him as the “Christ”, i.e., the one and only Savior of the world from God.

To be called and known by the world as a “Christian”, and to actually be the true committed “Christian” that the Lord is talking about in Matthew 16:18, in practice, are two entirely different things altogether. Although it is commonly believed and accepted that because of being born in a particular family, or because of fulfilling the rites, rituals, traditions, and ceremonies of a particular religion, sect or denomination, or taking membership of a particular “church” according to its rules and regulations, one is either born as a “Christian”, or becomes one. But contrary to this common concept and belief, the Biblical teaching is that through all of these, though a person may be seen and accepted as a “Christian” by some people, the society, or a particular sect or denomination, but it is not necessary that he or she would also be considered a “Christian” by the Lord Jesus, will be seen by the Lord as one of those called-out ones gathered together to be His people. This is because, whoever considers and believes himself to be a “Christian” because of being born in a particular family, or because of his religion, because of being religious, doing good works, fulfilling the requirements of the sect or denomination he belongs to and because of following its rites, rituals, ceremonies, having such an understanding automatically ignores and disobeys the primary and basic requirement of being a member of the Lord’s Church. Because, he has then trusted not on Lord Jesus being his only “Messiah”, his one and only savior and way to God (John 14:6), but on his trusting and believing on the contrived things of the world, devised and implemented by men in the name of the Lord Jesus, to save him and take him to God; i.e., on a way other than the Lord Jesus Christ, a way of works to reach God (Ephesians 2:5, 8-9). Whereas, according to the Bible, accepting the Lord Jesus as the “Christ” from God is through repentance from sins and completely surrendering one’s life to Him (Romans 10:9-10); not by family, lineage, works, religion, fulfilling denominational teachings and rituals.

Take note, when John the Baptist started to prepare the people for the coming of the Lord Jesus, then the first and main subject of his preaching was repentance from sins (Matthew 3:1-2). This was also the subject of the first preaching and ministry of the Lord Jesus (Mark 1:15), as well as part of the last instructions of the Lord to His disciples before His ascension (Luke 24:47). This was also the subject of the preaching by the disciples when they first went out for ministry (Mark 6:12); and was also the subject of Peter’s first sermon to the devout Jews gathered in Jerusalem to fulfil the Law (Acts 2:38), through which the first Church was born. It was also the subject of the ministry of Paul after his conversion (Acts 20:21); and even of the prophets of the Old Testament (Jeremiah 25:4-5). Therefore, when the Lord Jesus put forth the essential requirement of accepting Him as the one and only Savior of the world, to become His called-out people and gathered together in His name, He was not putting forth some new or strange, previously unknown teaching. The Lord was only firmly reiterating and affirming that which was the theme of the ministry of the Old Testament prophets and men of God, of John the Baptist as His forerunner, of the beginning of the Lord’s own ministry, and of the disciples first ministry; and would be the theme of His other disciples in the days to come. There is no teaching given anywhere in the Bible of being saved and becoming one belonging to the Lord Jesus without repentance from sins and surrendering one’s life to the Lord, having a changed life (Romans 12:1-2). Every person becomes a person belonging to the Lord Jesus only by personally and willingly repenting of his sins, accepting the work of the Lord Jesus accomplished on the Cross of Calvary for the remission of his sins and based upon that asking the Lord’s forgiveness for his sins, and fully surrendering one’s life to the Lord; irrespective of what family he is born in and whatever religion, “Christian” rituals and ceremonies he may have fulfilled, repentance is mandatory for everyone (Acts 17:30-31). This is what accepting the Lord Jesus as the “Christ”, the one and only God appointed savior of the world implies. The Church of the Lord Jesus Christ is made up only of those who accept this basic doctrine and obey it as it is; do not add anything to it, nor take away anything from it; do not corrupt it in any manner by bringing into it things according to man’s understanding, knowledge, and wisdom; and do not join any extraneous teachings or doctrines to it.

In the next article we will see how this is not just playing around with words, nor a mere difference of understanding and opinion about some Biblical texts and teachings. Why they are so important, and why they are absolutely essential to accept and obey to become an inheritor of eternal life.

If you are a Christian Believer, then examine and evaluate yourself, whether it is because you were born in a particular family, or following a religion, fulfilling its rites, rituals and ceremonies, because of your being religious and doing good works, that you consider yourself to be a part of the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ. If this is the case, then you are living in a very deep deception, and need to extricate yourself out of it now, while you have the time and opportunity to do so. Repent and surrender your life to the Lord Jesus now, and rectify your situation. May it not be that you continue to live in false, contrived, man-made concepts and understanding about Christianity, and eventually when the reality becomes apparent, your eyes open up to the truth, it is too late.

If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord Jesus, then take a decision in its favor now to secure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. The Lord's security and blessings are present where there is obedience of the Lord, where His Word is honored and followed. If you are still not Born Again, have not obtained salvation, or have not asked the Lord Jesus for forgiveness for your sins, then you have the time and opportunity to do so right now. Ask the Lord Jesus to forgive your sins, and voluntarily and sincerely surrender yourselves into His hands - this is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. All you have to do is say a short prayer, voluntarily and with a sincere heart, with heartfelt repentance for your sins, and a fully submissive attitude. You can do this in this manner, “Lord Jesus, I confess that I have disobeyed You, and have knowingly or unknowingly, in mind, in thought, in attitude, and in deeds, committed sins. I believe that you have fully borne the punishment of my sins by your sacrifice on the cross, and have paid the full price of those sins for all eternity. Please forgive my sins, change my heart and mind towards you, and make me your disciple, take me with you." God longs for your company and wants to see you blessed, but to make this possible, is your personal decision. One prayer said with a sincere and surrendered heart will turn your present and future, your life here on earth and in the next world, forever and make you heavenly and blessed. Will you not say this prayer now, while you have the time and opportunity to do so? The decision is yours.
