आराधना में बाधाएँ (4) - अनुचित अभिव्यक्तियाँ

सही आराधना करने में आने वाली बाधाओं, उन बातों पर जो मसीही विश्वासी को वैसी आराधना नहीं करने देती हैं, जैसी परमेश्वर चाहता है, अर्थात, “आत्मा और सच्चाई” से की गई आराधना (यूहन्ना 4:23-24), पर विचार करते हुए, अभी तक हमने तीन मुख्य समस्याओं पर ध्यान किया है। पहली थी, यह न जानना के आराधना वास्तव में क्या है; और इसलिए उसके स्थान पर ऐसी अभिव्यक्तियों का उपयोग करना जो सच्ची आराधना की अभिव्यक्तियाँ नहीं हैं, जैसे कि परमेश्वर को धन्यवाद, स्तुति, गुणानुवाद अर्पित करने के स्थान पर प्रार्थना माँगने लग जाना, बिना सच्चे मन और भावना के रटे हुए गीत गा देना, एक रीति के समान सामूहिक भजन गाने में सम्मिलित होकर उसे व्यक्तिगत आराधना समझ लेना, आदि। दूसरी थी, विश्वासी का परमेश्वर द्वारा उसे प्रदान किए गए उच्च स्तर के प्रति सचेत और जानकार न रहना, और इस कारण न तो वे उसके अनुरूप व्यवहार करते हैं और न ही आराधना करते हैं; बल्कि आराधना के नाम पर अपना अनादर करते हैं। तीसरी थी, आराधना में परमेश्वर के बारे में बात करने, उसका तथा उसके कार्यों का वर्णन करने की बजाए अपने बारे में बातें करना, अपना वर्णन करना, और वह भी अपने आप को तुच्छ और निकृष्ट दिखाने के लिए। ऐसा करना, एक प्रकार से परमेश्वर के सर्वज्ञानी होने, हमारे लिए किये गए अनुग्रह के कार्यों के महत्व को अनदेखा करना है; और अपने अतीत पर ही ध्यान केन्द्रित रखने के द्वारा, हमें प्रदान की गई क्षमा, हमारी भूतपूर्व दशा और पापमय व्यवहार के बावजूद उसके द्वारा हमें इस संसार में से बुलाने की, उसके वर्तमान प्रेम और अनुग्रह पर से ध्यान हटाए रखना है। आज हम एक चौथी बात, मसीही विश्वासी द्वारा आराधना के लिए प्रयोग की जाने वाली एक और अनुचित अभिव्यक्ति को देखेंगे। इस बात को समझने के लिए हमें परमेश्वर की आराधना करने की आवश्यकताओं में से एक को फिर से ध्यान करना होगा।

जैसा कि हम पहले के लेखों में देख चुके हैं, परमेश्वर इसलिए चाहता है कि हम उसकी आराधना करें, जिससे कि मसीही विश्वासी हमेशा परमेश्वर से संबंधित बातों के प्रति सचेत और जानकार बने रहें। मनुष्य होने के नाते, हम बहुत सी बातों को भूल जाने, उनकी अनदेखी कर देने की प्रवृत्ति रखते हैं; विशेषकर उनकी जो निरंतर हमारे उपयोग या ध्यान में नहीं बनी रहती हैं, जब तक कि हम अपने आप को उनके बारे में याद न दिलाते रहें, या उन्हें अपने लिए दोहराते न रहें। इसलिए, आराधना में हमें परमेश्वर के गुणों, क्षमताओं, योग्यताओं और कार्यों आदि को सदा याद करते रहना चाहिए, उन्हें दोहराते रहना चाहिए, जिससे वे हमारे मनों में हमेशा ताज़ा बने रहें। तब, जब भी शैतान हमारे सामने प्रलोभन लाएगा, हमें किसी गलत मार्ग पर डालने का प्रयास करेगा, या हमें किसी पाप में फंसाने और गिराने का प्रयास करेगा, परमेश्वर के वचन की कोई गलत व्याख्या या शिक्षा हमारे समक्ष लाएगा, तो हम तुरंत ही उसे पहचान लेंगे और उन दुष्टता की युक्तियों और चालाकियों से सुरक्षित बने रहेंगे। इस बात का प्रकट तात्पर्य है कि आराधना का यह उद्देश्य कभी पूरा नहीं होगा यदि हम आराधना में अपने ही बारे में बातें करते रहेंगे, अपना ही वर्णन करते रहेंगे और अपने आप को तुच्छ और निकृष्ट दिखाने के प्रयास करते रहेंगे। बल्कि आराधना का यह उद्देश्य तभी पूरा होगा जब हम वास्तव में परमेश्वर ही की आराधना करेंगे। उसका ही गुणानुवाद करेंगे, उसके बारे में, उसके कार्यों के बारे में, उसके आश्वासनों और पूरी की गई प्रतिज्ञाओं, आदि के बारे में बात करेंगे, उन्हें याद करेंगे, उन्हें दोहराएँगे। ऐसा हम अपने अनुभवों से, औरों के अनुभवों से, तथा परमेश्वर के वचन में दिए गए उदाहरणों के द्वारा कर सकते हैं।

इसलिए, जहाँ तक संभव हो हमें बाइबल के तथ्यों और लेखों का ही अपनी आराधना में उपयोग करना चाहिए। हमें बाइबल में उल्लेख किए गए भक्त लोगों की आराधना का अनुसरण करना चाहिए, क्योंकि परमेश्वर ने इन बातों को हमारे उदाहरण और शिक्षा के लिए अपने वचन में रखा है। किन्तु सामान्यतः जो देखा जाता है, वह इससे बहुत भिन्न है; मसीही विश्वासी वचन और बाइबल के लोगों की नहीं, वरन अन्य मनुष्यों की, अपने प्राचीनों और धार्मिक अगुवों का अनुसरण करते हैं; उनकी शैली, अभिव्यक्तियों, शब्दों की नकल करते हैं। यह बहुत आम तौर से देखी जाने वाली बात है कि लगभग प्रत्येक मण्डली की प्रार्थना और आराधना के लिए अपनी ही शैली और अभिव्यक्तियाँ होती हैं। और उस मण्डली के लगभग सभी सदस्य अपनी आराधना और प्रार्थनाओं में उन्हीं को दोहराते और प्रयोग करते रहते हैं, क्योंकि उनके प्राचीन और धार्मिक अगुवे भी वैसे ही शब्दों, अभिव्यक्तियों, और शैली का उपयोग करते हैं। कोई भी कभी यह प्रयास नहीं करता है कि उनके बारे में परमेश्वर के वचन से भी जाँच ले, देख ले कि क्या बाइबल में किसी ने उन शब्दों, अभिव्यक्तियों या उस शैली द्वारा आराधना या प्रार्थना की भी है या नहीं? कोई इस बात की पुष्टि करना, उसे जाँच कर देखना नहीं चाहता है कि क्या उन बातों एवं अभिव्यक्तियों का प्रयोग करना वचन के अनुसार और उचित है भी कि नहीं; या कहीं यह किसी व्यक्ति विशेष का अपना भावनात्मक तरीका तो नहीं है, जो परमेश्वर के वचन के सत्य और तथ्यों से भिन्न है।

बाइबल भी हमें ऐसे करने के लिए कहती है। पौलुस ने कहा है कि हम मसीह का अनुसरण करें (1 कुरिन्थियों 11:1), तथा अपने मसीही जीवन और व्यवहार को प्रभु यीशु मसीह, उसके प्रेरितों और भविष्यद्वक्ताओं की नींव, अर्थात उनकी शिक्षाओं, निर्देशों, और उदाहरणों पर बनाएँ (1 कुरिन्थियों 3:11; इफिसियों 2:20)। किन्तु आज ऐसा करने के स्थान पर विश्वासी आम तौर से अपने प्राचीनों और धार्मिक अगुवों का ही अनुसरण करते हैं, बाइबल के लोगों और बातों की बजाए वर्तमान में विद्यमान अपनी पसंद के मनुष्यों के पीछे चलना अधिक पसंद करते हैं। न केवल यह, वरन, अधिकाँश लोगों के प्रार्थना और आराधना से संबंधित अपने कुछ शब्द और वाक्यांश होते हैं, जिन्हें वे अपनी प्रार्थना या आराधना के प्रत्येक वाक्य में अनेकों बार, हर थोड़े से शब्दों के बाद दोहराते रहते हैं। प्रभु यीशु ने कहा है कि इस प्रकार बहुत बोलना, व्यर्थ दोहराते रहना अन्य-जातियों का चिह्न है, इसके कारण उनकी सुनी नहीं जाएगी (मत्ती 6:7)। राजा सुलैमान ने सचेत किया और कहा कि परमेश्वर के समक्ष अपने मुँह की चौकसी रखनी चाहिए, अपने शब्दों को थोड़ा और सार्थक रखना चाहिए; सतर्क रहना चाहिए, न कि “मूर्खों का बलिदान” चढ़ाने वाला, क्योंकि बहुत बोलना न केवल मूर्खता है, वरन बुरा भी है (सभोपदेशक 5:1-3)। ऐसा करने वाले विश्वासियों की प्रार्थना या आराधना बहुत अधिक सार्थक और मनोहर हो जाएगी, तथा साथ ही उनके बोलने का समय भी घट जाएगा, यदि वे औरों के शब्दों, शैली और अभिव्यक्तियों की नकल करने के स्थान पर अपने मन से सीधे और साधारण शब्दों में केवल मुद्दे की बात कहें। उन्हें अपनी पसंद के शब्दों और वाक्यांशों को व्यर्थ में दोहराते रहने की कोई आवश्यकता नहीं है, और न ही किसी और के समान कोई आलंकारिक भाषा का प्रयोग करने अथवा वाक्पटुता दिखाने की कोई आवश्यकता है।

यह हमारे सामने प्रभु यीशु का सच में आज्ञाकारी और पूर्णतः समर्पित शिष्य होने के महत्व को लाता है; अर्थात् स्वेच्छा से अपने पापों से पश्चाताप करने और प्रभु को अपना उद्धारकर्ता स्वीकार करके, उसके वचनों के अनुसार जीवन जीने, न कि मनुष्यों की बातों का अनुसरण करने को दिखाता है। यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

Obstacles to Worship (4) - Improper expressions

While considering the obstacles to proper worship, things that do not let a Christian Believer worship God in the manner He desires, i.e., “in spirit and in truth” (John 4:23-24), so far, we have seen three major problems. The first was not knowing what worship actually is; therefore, substituting it with expressions that do not constitute true worship, e.g., instead of offering thanks, praise, and exaltation to God to start praying and asking from Him, sing songs by rote without one’s heart and mind actually meaning what is being sung, joining a congregational singing ritualistically, and considering it as a personal act of worshipping, etc. The second was the Believer not remaining conscious and aware of the high status accorded to him by God, and therefore neither conducting himself, nor worshiping God accordingly; instead belittling himself in the name of worship. The third was, instead of focussing on and speaking about God and describing Him and His works for worshiping Him, the tendency to keep the focus on our sinful past, by describing self and mostly speaking about self, and that too in a disparaging manner. This, in a way, disregards God’s omniscience, His forgiveness, and His calling us out from this world regardless of our former condition and behavior, in His love and grace. Today we will consider a fourth factor, the Believer not using appropriate expressions to worship God. To properly understand this factor, we need to remind ourselves of one of the purposes of worshiping God.

As we have seen in the earlier articles, one of the main purposes of why God wants us to worship is so that we Believers always remain aware about things related to God. Being human, we are prone to forgetting and overlooking many things, especially those that are not in our constant use, unless we keep reminding ourselves about them or repeating them to ourselves. Therefore, in worship we should keep recalling, keep reminding ourselves, and keep fresh in our minds the attributes, capabilities, works, and other things about God, at all times, for ready use at any time. Then, whenever Satan tempts us, or tries to mislead us, or entice us into committing some sin, or misinterprets and wrongly presents God’s Word to us, if we have been worshiping properly then we can immediately discern and keep ourselves safe from falling for his devious tricks and ploys. The evident implication is that this purpose of worship will never be served if we keep talking about ourselves and keep describing ourselves, and that too in a belittling manner. The purpose will only be served if we truly worship God by exalting Him, if we recall and speak about Him and what He has done, recount His promises and assurances given in His Word, review His works in our as well as other’s lives, or even through the examples given in God’s Word, etc.

Therefore, as far as possible, we should use Biblical facts and texts in our worship. We should emulate the worship of godly people mentioned in the Bible, those whom God has set as an example in His Word, for our learning. But instead, the commonly seen way of worshiping amongst the Believers is their worshiping by blindly copying the style, expressions, and words of other men, usually the elders or religious leaders. It is quite common to see that nearly every Church or Assembly has its own style and particular expressions for worshiping and praying. And practically all members of that Assembly keep repeating the same style and expressions in their worship, because their elders or religious leaders use those expressions and words. Nobody bothers to cross-check from the Word of God, if that expression or style has ever been used by any one in God’s Word for worship? Whether or not it is appropriate and actually according to God’s Word; or is it a person’s own fanciful way, which may actually be at variance from God’s word.

Even the Bible teaches us to do this. Paul says to emulate Christ (1 Corinthians 11:1), and to build our Christian lives and behavior on the foundation laid by the Lord Jesus Christ and His Apostles and Prophets, i.e., on the teachings, instructions and examples set by them (1 Corinthians 3:11; Ephesians 2:20). But instead, today the Believers, very commonly emulate their elders and religious leaders, use them instead of following the people and examples of the Bible. The Word of God calls those who follow men, whether elders or religious leaders, or any other, carnal and immature and admonishes them (1 Corinthians 1:11-13; 3:3-6). Not only this, but most people also have their own pet prayer and worship related phrases and words, which they keep repeating many times, after every couple of words, in every sentence they speak while praying or worshiping. The Lord Jesus has said that such vain repetitions are a characteristic of heathens, and of no use (Matthew 6:7). King Solomon has cautioned and said to refrain from being rash with one’s mouth, to keep one’s words to be few and meaningful; being circumspect and careful not to offer the “sacrifice of fools” since that is evil and foolishness (Ecclesiastes 5:1-3). Such a Believer’s prayer or worship could be far more meaningful and also pleasant, while taking up much less time, if they simply spoke the actual matter from their hearts instead of copying other men, or using any fanciful flowery language, and without this meaningless repetition of their pet phrases and words after every couple of words.

This places before us the importance of being a truly obedient and fully surrendered disciple of Lord Jesus by voluntarily repenting of sins and accepting the Lord as Savior, and then living by His Word, not the words of men. If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord Jesus, then to ensure your eternal life and heavenly rewards, take a decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now. Wherever there is surrender and obedience towards the Lord Jesus, the Lord’s blessings and safety are also there. If you are still not Born Again, have not obtained salvation, or have not asked the Lord Jesus for forgiveness for your sins, then you have the opportunity to do so right now. A short prayer said voluntarily with a sincere heart, with heartfelt repentance for your sins, and a fully submissive attitude, “Lord Jesus, I confess that I have disobeyed You, and have knowingly or unknowingly, in mind, in thought, in attitude, and in deeds, committed sins. I believe that you have fully borne the punishment of my sins by your sacrifice on the cross, and have paid the full price of those sins for all eternity. Please forgive my sins, change my heart and mind towards you, and make me your disciple, take me with you." God longs for your company and wants to see you blessed, but to make this possible, is your personal decision. Will you not say this prayer now, while you have the time and opportunity to do so - the decision is yours.

    पिछले लेखों में हमने दो प्रमुख बाधाओं को देखा था जो मसीही विश्वासी द्वारा परमेश्वर की सच्ची आराधना, जिसे प्रभु परमेश्वर ढूँढ़ता है, “आत्मा और सच्चाई” में की गई आराधना (यूहन्ना 4:23-24), करने से बाधित करते हैं। इन में से पहली बाधा, यह नहीं जानना है कि वास्तविक आराधना क्या है, और उसके स्थान पर प्रार्थना करना तथा रीतियों का निर्वाह करना, सामान्यतः केवल कलीसिया की सभा के लोगों के साथ गीत गाने को ही अपनी आराधना मान लेना, आदि; और परमेश्वर के साथ व्यक्तिगत संगति और आराधना का समय न रखना। दूसरी बाधा, जिसे हमने पिछले लेख में देखा है, वह है विश्वासी का यह एहसास न रखना कि परमेश्वर ने प्रत्येक वास्तविक नया-जन्म पाए हुए विश्वासी को कैसा उच्च स्थान प्रदान किया है, और आराधना के लिए अपने लिए अनादर पूर्ण अभिव्यक्तियों और शब्दों का प्रयोग करना, और ऐसा करने को ही ‘आराधना’ करना समझा लेना। आज हम सच्ची आराधना में एक और बाधा के बारे में देखेंगे, जो पिछले लेख वाली बाधा से संबंधित है।

    आराधना में आने वाली तीसरी आम रीति से देखी जाने वाली बाधा है, मसीही विश्वासी का परमेश्वर के गुणों और कार्यों के स्थान पर अपने बारे में अधिक बात करना। आराधना के लिए अकसर कुछ लोग अपना ही वर्णन करना आरंभ कर देते हैं, अपने पुराने तथा वर्तमान जीवनों का, न कि परमेश्वर की स्तुति और आराधना करना। और अकसर उनका यह स्वयं के बारे में बोलना अपनी भर्त्सना करना, मुख्यतः अपने आप को बुरा और नीचा दिखाना ही होता है। वे अपनी गलतियों, कमियों, और बुराइयों का ही वर्णन करते रहते हैं, बजाए उनके जीवन में परमेश्वर द्वारा लाए गए बदलाव, उन्हें भला बना देने और आत्मिक उन्नति की सकारात्मक बातों का ब्यान करने के। यद्यपि, परमेश्वर अपने वचन में विश्वासियों को आश्वस्त करता है कि उसने उनके पापों को अपनी पीठ के पीछे फेंक दिया है, काली घटा के समान मिटा दिया है, और उन्हें याद नहीं करेगा (यशायाह 38:17; 43:25; 44:22), लेकिन फिर भी ये विश्वासी आराधना के नाम में, हमेशा ही उन्हीं बातों को जिन्हें परमेश्वर याद करना नहीं चाहता है, उसके सामने दोहराता रहता है, और परमेश्वर को उन्हें याद दिलाता रहता है।

    उनका उद्देश्य परमेश्वर को ऊँचा दिखाने का तो होता है, किन्तु अपने जीवन और गवाही के द्वारा उसका गुणानुवाद और स्तुति करने के द्वारा नहीं, बल्कि अपने आप को निकृष्ट और अयोग्य दिखाने के द्वारा। वे परमेश्वर की आराधना से संबंधित मूल बात की अनदेखी करते हैं कि आराधना परमेश्वर को अर्पित करना, उसे देना है; और जब यह अर्पित करना शब्दों के द्वारा किया जाता है, तब उह परमेश्वर की स्तुति और गुणानुवाद करना होना चाहिये, वह जो है उसके लिये उसका धन्यवाद करना; अर्थात् अपना नहीं परन्तु परमेश्वर का बखान करना। और यदि उन्हें अपने बारे में कुछ कहना भी है तो जैसा ऊपर कहा गया है, वे परमेश्वर द्वारा उनके जीवनों में लाई गई सकारात्मक बातों और आत्मिक उन्नति के अनुभवों के बारे में कह सकते हैं; उनके अपने तथा उनके पारिवारिक जीवनों में जो शान्ति आई है, परमेश्वर ने कैसे उनके लिए मार्ग खोले हैं, उनके लिए वह किस तरह से कार्य करता है, उनके दैनिक जीवनों में जो मार्गदर्शन उन्हें देता है, आदि के बारे में, और यह सब इसलिये क्योंकि वे परमेश्वर और उसके वचन का अनुसरण करते हैं। जैसा कि पिछले लेख में कहा गया है, इस प्रकार से अपने आप को नीचा और अयोग्य दिखाना, उस उच्च स्तर को, जो परमेश्वर ने अपने अनुग्रह में उन्हें उद्धार के साथ ही प्रदान किया है, उसे अस्वीकार करना, और परमेश्वर की बात पर भरोसा न करना है; और यह एक प्रकार से परमेश्वर में अविश्वास करना है, अप्रत्यक्ष रीति से उसे झूठा कहना है।

    परमेश्वर ने हमसे तब भी प्रेम किया है जब हम पापी ही थे, और हमारे उद्धार के लिए मसीह को मरने के लिए भेजने के द्वारा उसे प्रमाणित किया है (रोमियों 5:6-8)। परमेश्वर यह बहुत अच्छे से जानता है कि हम क्या थे और अब क्या हैं; उसने स्वयं ही जगत के तुच्‍छों और मूर्खों को चुना है (1 कुरिन्थियों 1:26-29)। अब भी परमेश्वर हमारे बारे में सब कुछ भली-भांति जानता है, उससे कुछ भी छिपा हुआ नहीं है; वह न केवल हमारे विचारों को भी जानता हैं, बल्कि उन विचारों के पीछे की भावनाओं को भी अच्छे से जानता है (1 इतिहास 28:9)। इसलिए अपना वर्णन करने के द्वारा हम किसी भी रीति से परमेश्वर जो हमारे बारे में पहले से ही जानता है, उसमें कुछ और नहीं बढ़ाते हैं। साथ ही हमें इस बात का भी एहसास करना चाहिए कि अपनी गलतियों, कमियों, और बुराइयों का वर्णन करने के द्वारा हम अपने आप को परमेश्वर का और अधिक प्रिय भी नहीं बनाते हैं।

    अगले लेख में हम एक और संबंधित पक्ष को देखेंगे जो  मसीही विश्वासी के जीवन में उसकी आराधना को व्यर्थ बनाती है - आराधना के उद्देश्य और अभिव्यक्तियों को न जानना।

    सच्ची और सार्थक आराधना के लिये, व्यक्ति को परमेश्वर के साथ एक खरे और घनिष्ठ सम्बन्ध में होना होगा, जो प्रभु यीशु का सच्चा और समर्पित अनुयायी, वास्तव में परमेश्वर का जन बनने द्वारा ही सम्भव है। और यह किसी धार्मिक रीति या अनुष्ठान के पूरा करने से नहीं, केवल स्वेच्छा से अपने पापों के लिये पश्चाताप करने, प्रभु यीशु से उनके लिये क्षमा माँगने, और जानते-बूझते हुए अपना जीवन उसे समर्पित करने और प्रतिबद्धता के साथ प्रभु का शिष्य बनने का निर्णय लेने के द्वारा ही सम्भव है। जो कोई सच्चे मन से यह करता है, वह परमेश्वर की सन्तान, उसके परिवार का भाग भी बन जाता है (यूहन्ना 1:12-13)।

    यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

Obstacles to Worship (3) - Placing Self Before God

 

    In the previous articles, we have seen two major obstacles that prevent a Christian Believer from truly worshipping God “in spirit and in truth”, as the Lord God desires (John 4:23-24). The first of these is not knowing what worship actually is, and substituting it with prayers, with ritualistic methods, as is quite commonly done considering congregational singing in the Church as an act of personal worship and leaving it at that; and not giving any time of personal fellowship and worship with God. The second, which we saw in the last article is a Believer’s not realizing the high position God has already granted to every truly Born-Again Christian Believer, and continuing to belittle himself through the use of self-demeaning terms and expressions, and expecting it to be counted as worship. Today, we will consider another obstacle to true worship, that is related to the one we have considered in the previous article.

    A third commonly seen obstacle for true worship is the tendency of the Believers to talk more about self than about God’s attributes and works. In worship, some people often start describing themselves, their past as well as present condition; instead of praising and exalting God. Moreover, their self-description is more as self-deprecation, showing themselves as lowly, despicable creatures. They keep speaking or describing their faults and wrong-doings etc., rather than speaking of the positive changes and spiritual edification that God has brought in their lives, and made them better. Whereas God assures in His Word that He has cast the Believers sins behind His back, as a dark cloud has blotted them, and will not remember them anymore (Isaiah 38:17; 43:25; 44:22), yet these Believers, in the name of worship, insists on always recalling those very sins before God and keep reminding Him of that which God wants not to remember.

    They desire to exalt God, but not by praising and lifting Him up on high through their lives and by witnessing about Him, but by showing themselves as lowly and unworthy. They forget the basic thing about worshiping God – offering or giving to God, and when offering through words, it should be praising and exalting God, giving Him thanks for who He is, speaking about or describing God; and not about self. Even if they have to speak about themselves, as stated above, they can always speak about the positive changes that have come into their lives, the spiritual edification they have experienced, the peace that has come into their own lives and their families, the way they have experienced God working for them, opening ways for them, His guidance in their every-day life, etc.; and all this happens because of their following God and His Word. As pointed out in the previous article, such self-demeaning indicates not accepting or trusting in the high status God has granted to the Believers along with salvation in His grace, and in a way, it is disbelieving God, and therefore, is also indirectly calling Him a liar.

    God has loved us even while we were sinners and proved it by sending Christ to die for us (Romans 5:6-8). God very well knows who we were, and who we now are; for He Himself has chosen the weak and foolish of the world (1 Corinthians 1:26-29). Even now, God well knows everything about us, there is nothing hidden from Him; He not only knows our thoughts within us but also the intent of those thoughts (1 Chronicles 28:9). So, by describing ourselves, we do not in any way add anything to what God already knows about us; and we should also realize that neither does our recalling and repeating our faults, shortcomings, and wrong-doings endear us all the more to God.

    In the next article, we will look at another related aspect of a Christian Believer’s life that renders worship vain – being unaware of the purpose and proper expressions of worship.

    To offer true and worthwhile worship, one must be in a true and close relationship with God, by being a committed and surrendered follower of the Lord Jesus. And, this is only possible by voluntarily repenting of one’s sins, asking the Lord Jesus to forgive the sins, knowingly surrendering their lives to the Lord Jesus to be His committed disciple; not by fulfilling any religious rituals or ceremonies. Whoever does this with a sincere heart, becomes a child of God, a part of God’s family (John 1:12-13).

    If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord Jesus, then to ensure your eternal life and heavenly rewards, take a decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now. Wherever there is surrender and obedience towards the Lord Jesus, the Lord’s blessings and safety are also there. If you are still not Born Again, have not obtained salvation, or have not asked the Lord Jesus for forgiveness for your sins, then you have the opportunity to do so right now. A short prayer said voluntarily with a sincere heart, with heartfelt repentance for your sins, and a fully submissive attitude, “Lord Jesus, I confess that I have disobeyed You, and have knowingly or unknowingly, in mind, in thought, in attitude, and in deeds, committed sins. I believe that you have fully borne the punishment of my sins by your sacrifice on the cross, and have paid the full price of those sins for all eternity. Please forgive my sins, change my heart and mind towards you, and make me your disciple, take me with you." God longs for your company and wants to see you blessed, but to make this possible, is your personal decision. Will you not say this prayer now, while you have the time and opportunity to do so - the decision is yours.

    मसीही विश्वासी के जीवन में बाधाएँ बनकर, उसे योग्य रीति से परमेश्वर की आराधना करने से रोकने वाली बातों के अध्ययन में, हमने पिछले लेख में देखा था कि इस का प्राथमिक और सर्वोपरि कारण है यह न समझना कि आराधना वास्तव में है क्या। इसीलिए, वास्तविक आराधना के स्थान पर लोग प्रार्थना, रीति के अनुसार और औपचारिकता में गीत गाने, मण्डली की सामूहिक आराधना में बिना माँ-मस्तिष्क के सम्मिलित होने, गीत के शब्दों पर ध्यान या विश्वास किए बिना ही उन्हें गाते रहना, आदि का उपयोग करते हैं। इनमें से कोई भी तरीका, वह “आत्मा और सच्चाई” से की गई आराधना, वह 'प्रोसकुनिऑस' अर्थात साष्टांग दण्डवत और परमेश्वर को पूर्ण समर्पण करना नहीं है, जो परमेश्वर अपने लोगों से चाहता है (यूहन्ना 4:23-24)। परमेश्वर के प्रति पूरी तरह से समर्पित और आज्ञाकारी न रहने वाले ऐसे अपरिपक्व मसीही विश्वासियों के जीवनों में, क्योंकि वे परमेश्वर के साथ एक निकट और सार्थक संबंध में नहीं हैं, इसलिये उनमें परमेश्वर की व्यक्तिगत और वास्तविक आराधना का भी स्थान नहीं होता है। वे प्रथा के अनुसार तथा अन्य लोगों की नकल करते हुए, कुछ रटे हुए शब्दों को दोहराते हुए, एक औपचारिक तथा ऊपरी आराधना ही कर पाते हैं, जिससे उनके जीवनों में आराधना के कोई लाभ भी नहीं आ पाते हैं।

    एक और बाधा जो मसीही विश्वासियों को परमेश्वर की योग्य आराधना करने से रोकती है, उनका उन्हें परमेश्वर से मिले हुए ओहदे या स्तर का एहसास न करना है। परमेश्वर ने प्रत्येक सच में नया-जन्म पाए हुए मसीही विश्वासी को, अर्थात उसे जिसने अपने पापों से पश्चाताप किया है और प्रभु यीशु को अपना उद्धारकर्ता ग्रहण किया है, अपने अनुग्रह में उसे उद्धार के साथ एक स्तर भी प्रदान किया है। पहले हम परमेश्वर के वचन से परमेश्वर के अनुग्रह द्वारा मिले स्तर को देखते हैं, और इस का एहसास करते हैं कि परमेश्वर ने नया जन्म पाए हुए उसके विश्वासियों को कैसे ऊँचे स्थान पर लाकर खड़ा कर दिया है, उन्हें जो प्रभु में विश्वास करते हैं, उसे अपना व्यक्तिगत उद्धारकर्ता स्वीकार कर लिया है, और अपने जीवन उसे समर्पित कर दिये हैं।

    ऐसे मसीही विश्वासियों के बारे में परमेश्वर का वचन कहता है, कि:

1. वे परमेश्वर की संतान बन गए हैं, “परन्तु जितनों ने उसे ग्रहण किया, उसने उन्हें परमेश्वर के सन्तान होने का अधिकार दिया, अर्थात उन्हें जो उसके नाम पर विश्वास रखते हैं। वे न तो लहू से, न शरीर की इच्छा से, न मनुष्य की इच्छा से, परन्तु परमेश्वर से उत्पन्न हुए हैं” (यूहन्ना 1:12-13)।

2. परमेश्वर की संतान होने के नाते वे मसीह के संगी वारिस हैं, “इसलिये कि जितने लोग परमेश्वर के आत्मा के चलाए चलते हैं, वे ही परमेश्वर के पुत्र हैं। क्योंकि तुम को दासत्व की आत्मा नहीं मिली, कि फिर भयभीत हो परन्तु लेपालकपन की आत्मा मिली है, जिस से हम हे अब्बा, हे पिता कह कर पुकारते हैं। आत्मा आप ही हमारी आत्मा के साथ गवाही देता है, कि हम परमेश्वर की सन्तान हैं। और यदि सन्तान हैं, तो वारिस भी, वरन परमेश्वर के वारिस और मसीह के संगी वारिस हैं, जब कि हम उसके साथ दुख उठाएं कि उसके साथ महिमा भी पाएं” (रोमियों 8:14-17)।

3. इस पृथ्वी पर, इस वर्तमान शारीरिक जीवन में भी, वे पवित्र आत्मा के द्वारा अंश-अंश करके प्रभु की समानता में बदलते चले जा रहे हैं, “परन्तु जब हम सब के उघाड़े चेहरे से प्रभु का प्रताप इस प्रकार प्रगट होता है, जिस प्रकार दर्पण में, तो प्रभु के द्वारा जो आत्मा है, हम उसी तेजस्वी रूप में अंश अंश कर के बदलते जाते हैं” (2 कुरिन्थियों 3:18)।

4. वे परमेश्वर के याजक हैं (प्रकाशितवाक्य 1:6), वास्तव में एक चुना हुआ वंश, राज-पदधारी याजकों का समाज, पवित्र प्रजा, और परमेश्वर की निज प्रजा हैं, “पर तुम एक चुना हुआ वंश, और राज-पदधारी याजकों का समाज, और पवित्र लोग, और (परमेश्वर की) निज प्रजा हो, इसलिये कि जिसने तुम्हें अन्धकार में से अपनी अद्भुत ज्योति में बुलाया है, उसके गुण प्रगट करो” (1 पतरस 2:9)।

    उपरोक्त सभी पदों में यह ध्यान दीजिए कि ये आते समय में पूरी होने वाली प्रतिज्ञाएँ नहीं हैं, न ही ऐसी संभावनाएँ हैं जो मसीही विश्वासी के द्वारा कुछ विशेष करने अथवा एक विशिष्ट प्रकार का जीवन जीने के द्वारा उसे प्राप्त होंगी; परन्तु यह प्रदान कर दिए गए वास्तविक तथ्य हैं। क्योंकि स्वयं परमेश्वर ने प्रत्येक वास्तविक नया जन्म पाए हुए मसीही विश्वासी को इस उच्च स्तर पर लाकर आसीन कर दिया है, इसीलिए, पौलुस लिखता है, “हे भाइयों, मेरी भावना यह नहीं कि मैं पकड़ चुका हूं: परन्तु केवल यह एक काम करता हूं, कि जो बातें पीछे रह गई हैं उन को भूल कर, आगे की बातों की ओर बढ़ता हुआ। निशाने की ओर दौड़ा चला जाता हूं, ताकि वह इनाम पाऊँ, जिस के लिये परमेश्वर ने मुझे मसीह यीशु में ऊपर बुलाया है” (फिलिप्पियों 3:13-14)। पौलुस भली-भांति जानता था कि वह एक घोर पापी रहा है (1 तीमुथियुस 1:12-15), और परमेश्वर के अनुग्रह पाने तथा उसे कोई ज़िम्मेदारी दिये जाने के सर्वथा अयोग्य है (1 कुरिन्थियों 15:9-10)। लेकिन फिर भी परमेश्वर ने उसे उद्धार दिया और उसे एक स्वर्गीय स्तर प्रदान किया, जैसे परमेश्वर ने प्रत्येक सच्चे मसीही विश्वासी को भी किया है। इसलिए, यद्यपि पौलुस अपने मन में अपनी भूतपूर्व दशा और स्तर का ध्यान रखता था, लेकिन उसने इन बातों को अपने जीवन के लिए एक ऐसा भारी बोझ कभी नहीं बनने दिया जो उसे परमेश्वर से मिली ज़िम्मेदारी को पूरी करने वाली जीवन-दौड़ के लिए बाधा बने। पौलुस को इस बात का एहसास था कि आगे बढ़ने के लिए, अपने अयोग्य अतीत से अलग होना और छोड़ना पड़ेगा; केवल तब ही वह आगे उस इनाम की ओर बढ़ सकेगा जो उसके लिए रखा हुआ है। और उसने कुरिन्थुस के मसीही विश्वासियों को भी इसी बात का एहसास करवाया - वे पहले क्या थे, और वर्तमान में उन्हें क्या बना दिया गया है (1 कुरिन्थियों 6:9-11)। इसलिए अब उन्हें अपने वर्तमान स्तर के अनुसार जीवन जीना है, न कि भूतपूर्व स्थिति के अनुसार। जब तक कि हम इस बात का एहसास नहीं करेंगे कि परमेश्वर की दृष्टि में हम क्या हैं, और इस बात को सदा ध्यान में बनाए नहीं रखेंगे, तब तक हम अपने आप को परमेश्वर को प्रसन्न करने वाला तो दूर की बात है, उसे स्वीकार्य जीवन और व्यवहार भी नहीं रख सकेंगे।

    तो इसका विश्वासी की आराधना पर क्या प्रभाव पड़ता है? यह एक दुर्भाग्य पूर्ण तथ्य है कि बहुत से विश्वासी, परमेश्वर की आराधना करते समय, अपना अनादर करते हैं, अपने आप को अप्रतिष्ठित ठहराते हैं; और वह भी वर्तमान काल में। उन्हें परमेश्वर द्वारा उन्हें प्रदान किए गए स्तर का कोई वास्तविक एहसास नहीं है। वे परमेश्वर के अनुग्रह द्वारा उद्धार पाने के बाद भी अपने लिए वही कहते हैं जैसे वे उद्धार पाने से पहले हुआ करते थे, वैसे ही अब भी हैं। वे अपने आप को अनेकों प्रकार के अनादरपूर्ण नामों और बातों से संबोधित करते हैं, अपने आप को अनेकों प्रकार के अप्रतिष्ठित स्तर और पदवियाँ प्रदान करते हैं, अपनी एक नीच पापमय हस्ती बताते हैं। किन्तु ज़रा सा विचार करके देखिए कि यह सब सुनना परमेश्वर को कैसा लगता होगा, जो कहता है, “मैंने तुझे क्षमा कर दिया है और तुझे उठा कर अपनी संतान होने का स्तर दे दिया है; तू मसीह का संगी वारिस, मेरा राज-पदधारी याजक और विशेष प्रजा है, और अभी भी मैं तुझे मसीह की समानता में बदलता चला जा रहा हूँ।” किन्तु विश्वासी कहता है, “नहीं, मैं तो अभी भी एक नीच, निरादर के योग्य, पूर्णतः अयोग्य, किसी भी भलाई लिए अनुपयुक्त, घिनौना, गंदी नाली का कीड़ा, आदि हूँ!” क्या यह ज़रा भी सही और उचित लगता है? क्या परमेश्वर ऐसी कोई भी बात सुनना चाहेगा? परमेश्वर द्वारा उसे उच्च स्तर पर उठाए जाने के बाद, क्या किसी विश्वासी के मुँह से ऐसी बातें सुनकर, परमेश्वर उसकी सराहना करेगा? क्या परमेश्वर ऐसी बातों को कभी भी ऐसी बातों को अपने लिये “स्तुति और आराधना” के रूप में स्वीकार करेगा?

    चाहे यह अनजाने में ही हो, किन्तु क्या यह परमेश्वर का गुणानुवाद करने के स्थान पर उसमें अविश्वास करना, अप्रत्यक्ष रीति से उसे झूठा ठहराना नहीं है? क्या परमेश्वर के वचन में किसी की भी इस प्रकार की स्तुति और आराधना करने का कोई भी उदाहरण है? इससे संबंधित एक रोचक बात यह भी है कि जो लोग अपनी ‘आराधना’ में इस प्रकार के शब्द अपने लिए प्रयोग करते हैं, यदि कोई उन्हें, उन्हीं के उन शब्दों से संबोधित करे, जो उन्होंने परमेश्वर के सामने अपने लिये उपयोग किये हैं, तो वे बहुत बुरा मानते हैं, बहुत क्रुद्ध हो जाते हैं; और यह परमेश्वर के सामने कहे गये उनके शब्दों के खोखले होने को प्रकट कर देता है। क्या यह उनके द्वारा दिखाया जाने वाला पाखण्ड नहीं है? ऐसी तथाकथित ‘आराधना’ वास्तव में मण्डली के उपस्थित लोगों के कानों के लिए तो हो सकती है, किन्तु परमेश्वर की स्तुति और आराधना के लिए कदापि नहीं है। न केवल मसीही विश्वासी को यह जानना चाहिए कि वास्तविक आराधना क्या है, वरन साथ ही उसे इस बात का ध्यान भी रहना चाहिए कि परमेश्वर ने उसे क्या स्तर प्रदान किया है, उठाकर कहाँ पर बैठाया है। और फिर परमेश्वर द्वारा उसे प्रदान किए गए इसी स्तर के अनुसार ही उसे हर समय, हर बात के लिए, बोलना और व्यवहार करना चाहिए।

    अगले लेख में हम इसी बात से संबंधित एक और बाधा के बारे में देखेंगे, जो मसीही विश्वासियों को सच्ची आराधना करने से बाधित करती है।

    In studying the obstacles in a Christian Believer’s life that keep him from worshiping God worthily, we have seen in the last article that the primary and foremost reason is not knowing what worship actually is. Therefore, true worship is substituted with things like prayer, ritualistic and formal singing of songs, participating in congregational singing without one’s heart and mind being it, or actually meaning the lyrics being sung, etc. None of these methods are “the worship in spirit and truth,” the ‘proskuneos,’ i.e., falling prostrate (face down) in adoration and homage, and completely surrendering self to God the that the Lord God seeks from His people (John 4:23-24. Such immature Christian Believers, i.e., those lives are neither fully surrendered nor completely obedient to God, since they are not in a close and meaningful relationship with God, they also lack having a worthwhile and personal time of worshiping God in their lives. Since they only worship ritualistically, or by copying the worship of others, through repeating some words by rote; therefore, because of this formal and superficial worship, they do not benefit from their worship in any manner.

    Another obstacle that keeps a Christian Believer from offering worship to God worthily is their not realizing the status that God has granted to them. Along with the salvation, God has graciously given to every truly Born-Again Christian Believer an exalted status, because of their repenting of sins and accepting the Lord Jesus as their Savior. Let us first see from God’s Word and realize about the status that the Lord God has elevated the Born-Again Christian Believers, i.e., those who believe in Him, have accepted Him as their personal savior, and have committed their lives to Him.

    God’s Word says about such Christian Believers, that:

1. They have been made the children of God, “But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God” (John 1:12-13).

2. As God’s children, they are joint heirs with Christ Jesus, “For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God. For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, "Abba, Father." The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, then heirs--heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together” (Romans 8:14-17).

3. Even on this earth, in the present physical life, they are gradually being transformed into the likeness of our Lord by the Holy Spirit, “But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord” (2 Corinthians 3:18).

4. They are the Priests of God (Revelation 1:6), in fact a chosen generation, a Royal Priesthood, a holy nation, God’s own special people, “But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light” (1 Peter 2:9).

    In all these verses, notice that these are neither promises to be fulfilled in the future, nor possibilities to which the Believers can attain if they do certain things, or live a particular kind of life; rather, they are already granted and accomplished facts. Since God Himself has already elevated every truly Born-Again Christian Believer to such an exalted status, therefore, Paul writes, “Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 3:13-14). Paul well knew that he had been a heinous sinner (1 Timothy 1:12-15), absolutely unworthy of receiving the grace of God, or of any responsibility being bestowed upon him (1 Corinthians 15:9-10). But still, God had saved him and granted him a heavenly status, as God has granted to every true Christian Believer. So, while Paul did did keep at the back of his mind his former condition and status, but he did not let it become a heavy weight that would prevent him from properly running his race of responsibility entrusted to him by God. Paul realized that to move forwards, he had to disengage himself from and let go of his unworthy past, only then could he press forward to the prize kept for him. And he reminded the Corinthian Believers also about the same thing – what they formerly were, and what they presently have been made (1 Corinthians 6:9-11). Therefore, now they have to live according to their present status, not in their past. Unless we realize and remain aware of who we are in the eyes of God, we will not conduct ourselves in a manner acceptable to God, let alone appreciated by Him.

    So, how does this affect the Believer’s worship? It is an unfortunate fact that many Believers, while worshiping God, belittle and demean themselves, and that too in the present tense, i.e., they still call themselves the same as they were earlier, before being saved by the grace of God. They give themselves all sorts of demeaning names, various belittling titles, and a lowly sinful status. But just think it over, how would all this sound to God, who says that “I have forgiven you and lifted you up to the status of being my child, a joint-heir with Christ, my Royal Priest and my special people, and even now I am transforming you into the likeness of Christ”; yet, the Believer insists on saying, “No, but I am still such a lowly, despicable, dishonorable, unworthy, good-for-nothing, wretched creature, a gutter-worm, etc.!” Does this make any sense? Would God like to hear any of these things, would He in any manner ever appreciate a Believer’s saying such things about himself, after what God has elevated him to be? Will He ever accept this as “Praising and Worshiping God”?

    Even if it is inadvertent, is this not disbelieving God and indirectly calling Him a liar, instead of exalting Him? Is there any example in God’s Word of any of His people ever worshiping and praising Him in this manner? And an interesting fact is, that those who use such belittling and demeaning terms for themselves in their so-called ‘worship’, take serious offense and respond in anger to anyone who uses any of those very terms for them, that they have used for themselves before God; exposing the hollowness of their words, spoken to God. Is this not sheer hypocrisy on their part? Such so-called ‘worship’ is more for the ears of the congregation, than it is for praising and exalting God. Not only should the Christian Believer know what worship actually is, but should also be aware of his God-given status, then speak and behave accordingly at all times, for all things.

    In the next article we will see another similar obstacle to worship in the life of a Christian Believer.

    To truly worship God, it is mandatory to become a person of God, a child of God and a part of His family (John 1:12-13). And this is only possible by voluntarily repenting of one’s sins, asking the Lord Jesus to forgive his sins, and knowingly committing oneself to surrendering their life to the Lord Jesus. If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord Jesus, then to ensure your eternal life and heavenly rewards, take a decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now. Wherever there is surrender and obedience towards the Lord Jesus, the Lord’s blessings and safety are also there. If you are still not Born Again, have not obtained salvation, or have not asked the Lord Jesus for forgiveness for your sins, then you have the opportunity to do so right now. A short prayer said voluntarily with a sincere heart, with heartfelt repentance for your sins, and a fully submissive attitude, “Lord Jesus, I confess that I have disobeyed You, and have knowingly or unknowingly, in mind, in thought, in attitude, and in deeds, committed sins. I believe that you have fully borne the punishment of my sins by your sacrifice on the cross, and have paid the full price of those sins for all eternity. Please forgive my sins, change my heart and mind towards you, and make me your disciple, take me with you." God longs for your company and wants to see you blessed, but to make this possible, is your personal decision. Will you not say this prayer now, while you have the time and opportunity to do so – the decision is yours.
