    हम सुसमाचार से सम्बन्धित शिक्षाओं पर विचार कर रहे हैं, ऐसी शिक्षाएँ जो विश्वासियों तथा कलीसिया की बढ़ोतरी एवं उन्नति के लिए अनिवार्य हैं। हमने देखा है कि सुसमाचार के प्रभावी होने के लिए, पश्चाताप करना और सुसमाचार में विश्वास करना अनिवार्य हैं (इब्रानियों 4:2)। हमने राजा योशिय्याह, अय्यूब, पौलुस, भक्त यहूदियों, आदि के उदाहरणों से सच्चे और वास्तविक मन-फिराव के कुछ गुण सीखे हैं, और व्यक्ति के जीवन में सच्चे पश्चाताप को पहचानना सीखा है। हमने देखा कि सच्चे पश्चाताप का एक बहुत प्रमुख गुण है पश्चातापी व्यक्ति के जीवन में प्रगट दिखने वाला परिवर्तन; आज हम इसी परिवर्तन से सम्बन्धित कुछ बातों को देखेंगे।

    प्रेरित पौलुस ने, रोम के मसीही विश्वासियों को लिखते हुए उनसे दो बातों के बारे कहा, जो विश्वासी के जीवन में इस अपेक्षित परिवर्तन का आवश्यक भाग हैं। पौलुस ने कहा, “इसलिये हे भाइयों, मैं तुम से परमेश्वर की दया स्मरण दिला कर बिनती करता हूं, कि अपने शरीरों को जीवित, और पवित्र, और परमेश्वर को भावता हुआ बलिदान कर के चढ़ाओ: यही तुम्हारी आत्मिक सेवा है। और इस संसार के सदृश न बनो; परन्तु तुम्हारी बुद्धि के नये हो जाने से तुम्हारा चाल-चलन भी बदलता जाए, जिस से तुम परमेश्वर की भली, और भावती, और सिद्ध इच्छा अनुभव से मालूम करते रहो” (रोमियों 12:1-2)। पौलुस ने जिस तरह से इस खण्ड को लिखा है, परमेश्वर की दया स्मरण करवा कर विनती करते हुए, और फिर इसे उनकी आत्मिक सेवा कहा, संकेत करता है कि वे परिवर्तन स्वतः ही विश्वासी के जीवन में नहीं आ जाते हैं, उन्हें लाना पड़ता है। यद्यपि वे मसीही विश्वासी के लिए अनिवार्य हैं, लेकिन फिर भी, मसीही जीवन के साथ जुड़ी हुई कई अन्य बातों के समान, ये भी वे बातें हैं जिन्हें विश्वासी को अपने जीवन में सक्रिय प्रयास के साथ विकसित और पोषित करना पड़ता है।

    यहाँ पर कही गई पहली बात है परमेश्वर के प्रति पवित्रीकरण के साथ सम्पूर्ण समर्पण, साथ ही अपने आप को सँसार से और सँसार की बातों से पूर्णतः अलग कर लेना। इस सन्देश को उन तक पहुँचाने के लिए, पौलुस ने व्यवस्था के अन्तर्गत परमेश्वर को चढ़ाए जाने वाले बलिदानों को उदाहरण के समान लिया है। जिस प्रकार से बलिदान होने वाले पशु को चुनने, तैयार करने, अर्पित करने, और वेदी पर बलिदान हो जाने के बाद, वह पशु उसकी जिस स्थिति में से लाया गया था, वह अपनी उस स्थिति में लौट कर कभी वापस नहीं जाता था, ठीक उसी प्रकार से वह व्यक्ति जो अपने आप को परमेश्वर को समर्पित कर देता है, वह भी लौट कर सँसार में वापस पहली की सी स्थिति में नहीं जा सकता है। पौलुस यहाँ पर एक प्रत्यक्षतः स्व-विरोधाभास वाले शब्द उपयोग करता है ‘जीवित बलिदान,’ अर्थात, एक तरह से मृतक, किन्तु दूसरी तरह से जीवित – एक के लिए मारे गए, दूसरे के लिए जीवित और स्वीकार्य बन गए। यह हमारे सामने उस परिवर्तन के एक गुण को प्रस्तुत करता है, जिसे मन-फिराव के साथ सुसमाचार को ग्रहण करने वाले विश्वासी के जीवन में दिखना चाहिए।

    यद्यपि मन-फिराव और सुसमाचार में विश्वास द्वारा मिले उद्धार के उपहार को ग्रहण करने के पल से ही व्यक्ति परमेश्वर के प्रति पवित्रीकरण के साथ उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित और परमेश्वर का जन मान लिया जाता है; किन्तु फिर भी पवित्र आत्मा ने पौलुस से विश्वासियों को लिखवाया ‘तुम...अपने शरीरों को जीवित, और पवित्र, और परमेश्वर को भावता हुआ बलिदान कर के चढ़ाओ,’ अर्थात, परमेश्वर यही चाहता है कि विश्वासी यह स्वेच्छा से करे, न कि इसे एक मजबूरी के समान निर्वाह करे। दूसरे शब्दों में, यह परिवर्तन तब ही आता है जब विश्वासी स्वेच्छा से सक्रिय होकर परिवर्तन की इस प्रक्रिया में भाग लेता है; न कि परमेश्वर की ओर से कोई ज़बरदस्ती की जाए या यह विश्वासी पर थोपा जाए। पौलुस साथ ही विश्वासियों को यह भी स्मरण करवा रहा है कि उनका ऐसा करना, उनके द्वारा किया गया कुछ अति-विशिष्ट या कोई महान कार्य नहीं है; वरन्, परमेश्वर ने उनके लिए जो किया है, उसकी तुलना में, विश्वासी का परमेश्वर को स्वेच्छा से समर्पण करना, प्रतिबद्ध होना, उसके द्वारा परमेश्वर के प्रति की जाने वाली मामूली सी ‘आत्मिक सेवा,’ एक विवेक पूर्ण प्रातक्रिया मात्र ही है। हर कोई जो सच्चा पश्चाताप करता है, और वास्तव में सुसमाचार पर विश्वास करता है उसे फिर इसी एहसास के साथ जीवन व्यतीत करना चाहिए कि अब वह प्रभु की संपत्ति है, उसके लिए पवित्र किया गया है, और उसे अपने इस समर्पण और पवित्रीकरण को अपने जीवन से जी कर दिखाना है (2 कुरिन्थियों 5:15, 17)।

    दूसरी बात जो पौलुस ने रोम के विश्वासियों को लिखी, वह है कि मन-फिराव और सुसमाचार पर विश्वास करने के द्वारा उनकी बुद्धि में आए भीतरी परिवर्तन को उनके बदले हुए जीवन के द्वारा बाहरी रूप में दिखाई देना चाहिए। दूसरे शब्दों में, उनके मन-फिराव और सुसमाचार पर विश्वास करने पर परमेश्वर उनकी बुद्धि को – जो उनके शरीरों को नियंत्रित और संचालित करती है, उसे नया कर देता है, उसे उनकी स्वर्गीय बुलाहट और जिम्मेदारियों के अनुरूप बना देता है। अब यह उनकी ज़िम्मेदारी हो जाती है कि वे अपनी बुद्धि के भीतरी परिवर्तन को बाहरी शारीरिक क्रियाओं के द्वारा प्रदर्शित करें; अर्थात्, केवल बातों और खोखले दावों के द्वारा नहीं, बल्कि कार्यों के द्वारा। सामान्य रीति से अब सँसार और साँसारिकता की बातों में फिर से पड़ने की बजाए, उन्हें एक दृढ़ निर्णय के साथ अपने शरीरों को नई की हुई बुद्धि के अधीन ले आना है। अब साँसारिक अभिलाषाओं के अधीन रहने वाले उनके शरीर को उनकी बुद्धि को निर्देशित करने की बजाए, उनकी नई की गई और आत्मिक बुद्धि को उनके शरीरों को सही दिशा में चलाना है। 

    हम अगले लेख में इस परिवर्तन से सम्बन्धित कुछ और बातों को देखेंगे।

    यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु, मैं अपने पापों के लिए पश्चातापी हूँ, उनके लिए आप से क्षमा माँगता हूँ। मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मुझे और मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

Teachings Related to the Gospel – 7 

 

    We are considering teachings related to the gospel that are to be learnt and taught for the spiritual growth of the Believers and the Church. We have seen that repentance and faith in the gospel are essential for the gospel to be effective (Hebrews 4:2). Through the examples of King Josiah, Job, Paul, the devout Jews, etc. we learnt some characteristics of true heart-felt repentance, and how to recognize it in a person’s life. We have seen that a major characteristic of true repentance is the evidently changed life of the penitent person; today we will consider some aspects of this change that repentance brings about.

    The Apostle Paul, writing to the Christian Believers in Rome speaks to them of two things that are a necessary aspect of this change that is expected in the Believer’s life. Paul says “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God” (Romans 12:1-2). The manner of Paul’s writing this passage, his beseeching them on the basis of God’s mercies, and calling it their ‘reasonable service’ indicate that these changes do not happen automatically, they have to be brought about. Though they are essential for the Christian life of the Believer, yet like many other things associated with Christian living, they are things that the Believer has to actively develop or cultivate in his life.

    The first thing mentioned here is consecration and complete surrender to God, while simultaneously disassociating themselves from the world and the things of the world. To convey this message, Paul is here using the example of the sacrifices offered under the Law to God. Just as the sacrificial animal that had been chosen, prepared, offered and sacrificed on the altar never went back into the same state it had been brought from, similarly the person who submits himself to the Lord must not go back into the same worldly state that he came out of. Paul here uses an apparently self-contradictory term ‘living sacrifice,’ i.e., dead in one sense, yet alive in another – dead to one, accepted and living to another. This presents to us a characteristic of the change that ought to happen in a person on his accepting the gospel and repentance.

    Although, from the moment of accepting the gift of salvation through repenting and believing in the gospel, the person becomes fully consecrated, fully submitted to God, wholly belonging to God; yet, the Holy Spirit had Paul write to the Believers that ‘you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God,’ i.e., God also wants that the Believer does this as a voluntary act and not as a compulsion. In other words, this change comes with the voluntary active participation of the Believer in the process of change; not as a coercion or imposition by God. Paul also reminds the Believer their doing this is not something exceptional or something great; rather, in comparison to what God has done and is doing for them, the Believer’s surrendering and submitting to Him is a ’reasonable service,’ merely a rational reaction on their part towards God. Everyone who truly repents and sincerely accepts the gospel should also live with the realization that he now belongs to the Lord, is consecrated to Him, and must live a life that demonstrates this consecration and submission (2 Corinthians 5:15, 17).

    The second thing that Paul says to the Roman Believers is that the internal change wrought in their minds by their repentance and acceptance of the gospel, should be seen externally by a transformation in their life. In other words, with their repentance and submission, God renews their minds – that which controls their bodies, brings it in conformity to their heavenly calling and responsibility. Now they have the responsibility to demonstrate their internally renewed mind, by external physical works; i.e., not by mere verbal assertions, but by their works. Generally speaking this becomes evident by their no longer conforming to the ways of the world, but by determining and bringing their bodies under the control of their renewed mind. Instead of their bodies, under the influence of worldly lusts and desires, controlling their minds, their spiritually renewed minds must control their bodies towards the right direction. 

    We will look at some more aspects of this changed life in the next article.

    If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord, make your decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now to ensure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Voluntarily repent of your sins and ask the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily and sincerely surrender yourself to Him - this is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life.  Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.

    मसीही विश्वासियों के द्वारा पवित्र आत्मा के वरदानों के भण्डारीपन के निर्वाह को सीखते हुए, पिछले लेख से हमने इन वरदानों के उपयोग के बारे में रोमियों 12 से सीखना आरम्भ किया था, और कुछ सम्बन्धित प्रारम्भिक बातों को देखा था। हमने पिछले लेख का समापन इस विचार के साथ किया था कि सबसे पहले विश्वासियों को अपनी सेवकाई के बारे में एक सही आत्मिक दृष्टिकोण विकसित करने की आवश्यकता है, क्योंकि एक शारीरिक और साँसारिक दृष्टिकोण रखते हुए आत्मिक सेवकाई कर पाना संभव नहीं है। जब हमारा दृष्टिकोण सही हो जाएगा, तब ही हम परमेश्वर के कार्य, अर्थात उसके द्वारा निर्धारित हमारी सेवकाई के बारे में सही समझ रखने पाएंगे, और उसे ठीक से पूरा करने पाएंगे। तब ही हम और हमारे कार्य परमेश्वर को स्वीकार्य होंगे, उसे पसन्द आएँगे, और हमारे लिए आशीष लाएंगे। इसीलिए पौलुस में होकर पवित्र आत्मा द्वारा इस अध्याय, रोमियों 12, का आरंभ, इस आह्वान के साथ करता है: “इसलिये हे भाइयों, मैं तुम से परमेश्वर की दया स्मरण दिला कर बिनती करता हूं, कि अपने शरीरों को जीवित, और पवित्र, और परमेश्वर को भावता हुआ बलिदान कर के चढ़ाओ: यही तुम्हारी आत्मिक सेवा है। और इस संसार के सदृश न बनो; परन्तु तुम्हारी बुद्धि के नये हो जाने से तुम्हारा चाल-चलन भी बदलता जाए, जिस से तुम परमेश्वर की भली, और भावती, और सिद्ध इच्छा अनुभव से मालूम करते रहो” (रोमियों 12:1-2)। 

    आज हम इन दो पदों में ध्यान देने वाली कुछ बातें देखेंगे, जो परमेश्वर के लिए कार्य करने के लिए सही आत्मिक दृष्टिकोण विकसित करने के लिए आवश्यक हैं। यहाँ उल्लेख की गई बातें हैं:

• पद 1 का आरंभ मसीही विश्वासी को उसके प्रति परमेश्वर की दया का स्मरण दिलाने के साथ होता है; इसे बेहतर समझने के लिए इसे इसके संदर्भ में, इससे पहले के पदों के साथ देखिए। अध्याय 11, विशेषकर उसके अंत में, प्रभु परमेश्वर की महानता तथा सार्वभौमिकता का वर्णन, और उसकी महिमा का उल्लेख किया गया है। परमेश्वर की इस हस्ती, उसके सर्वोच्च, सर्वसामर्थी, एवं सर्वज्ञानी होने, के सामने जब मनुष्य अपनी हस्ती, अपनी पापमय और परमेश्वर के लिए अस्वीकार्य स्थिति का ध्यान करता है, तो उसे बोध होता है कि उस में ऐसा कुछ भी नहीं है कि परमेश्वर उसका ध्यान करे, उससे संपर्क या व्यवहार रखे। किन्तु फिर भी परमेश्वर संसार के सभी मनुष्यों से प्रेम करता है, उन्हें अपने साथ जोड़ना चाहता है, उन्हें अपनी संतान होने का आदर देना चाहता है (यूहन्ना 1:12-13)। इसीलिए इस अध्याय और पद का आरंभिक वाक्यांश है, “इसलिये हे भाइयों, मैं तुम से परमेश्वर की दया स्मरण दिला कर बिनती करता हूं...”। तात्पर्य यह कि आत्मिक सेवकाई और आत्मिक वरदानों के सही उपयोग करने के लिए मनुष्य को अपनी किसी योग्यता अथवा शारीरिक सामर्थ्य अथवा गुण के आधार पर नहीं वरन अपनी अयोग्यता, अपनी वास्तविकता के बोध के साथ, परमेश्वर के प्रति दीन, नम्र, नतमस्तक, आज्ञाकारी, और पूर्णतः समर्पित होकर; हर बात में परमेश्वर से मिलने वाली उसकी दया, उसके अनुग्रह का ध्यान रखते और मानते हुए, कार्य करना चाहिए। यह नहीं कि मनुष्य परमेश्वर से अपनी मन-मर्ज़ी करवाने का प्रयास करने लग जाए।

• फिर पद 1 के दूसरे भाग में पवित्र आत्मा मसीही सेवक को अपने आप को परमेश्वर को स्वीकार्य बलिदान के समान अर्पित करने को कहता है, और इस ही उसकी “आत्मिक सेवा” कहता है। यहाँ पुराने नियम से परमेश्वर की आराधना और उपासना करने, उससे क्षमा प्राप्त करने और उसे स्वीकार्य होने की विधि - परमेश्वर को निर्धारित बलिदान चढ़ाने की बात को समक्ष लाया गया है। परमेश्वर द्वारा दी गई व्यवस्था में हर एक बलिदान का एक स्वरूप, एक विधि होती थी; कुछ भी मनमाना या मनुष्य की अपनी ही इच्छा, विधि, या पसन्द से किए जाने के लिए नहीं था; और बलिदान कोई भी हो, किसी भी उद्देश्य से क्यों न चढ़ाया जाए, उसे उसकी निर्धारित विधि के अनुसार ही चढ़ाना होता था। सभी बलिदानों के साथ एक बात सामान्य थी - जो वेदी पर परमेश्वर के सामने चढ़ा दिया गया, वह फिर लौट कर उस बलिदान चढ़ाने वाले मनुष्य के हाथ में वापस नहीं आता था! या तो वह चढ़ाया गया बलिदान जल कर राख हो जाता था, या फिर याजकों के उपयोग के लिए दे दिया जाता था। इसी प्रकार से जो जीवन परमेश्वर को अर्पित कर दिया गया है, उसे वापस लेकर फिर से संसार के साथ नहीं जोड़ा जा सकता है, सांसारिकता की बातों के लिए उपयोग नहीं किया जा सकता है। यदि उसे वापस लिया जा रहा है, शारीरिक लालसाओं और सांसारिक बातों के लिए उपयोग किया जा रहा है, तो इसका अर्थ है कि वह जीवन वास्तव में सही रीति से ‘बलिदान’ नहीं किया गया है - पूर्णतः परमेश्वर को समर्पित नहीं किया गया है। इसलिए वह परमेश्वर के लिए उपयोगी और उसकी महिमा का कारण भी नहीं होगा, चाहे व्यक्ति बाहर से जो कुछ भी कहता, करता, और दिखाता रहे। साथ ही यह संसार और शरीर के साथ भी, तथा आत्मा के साथ भी निभाने की प्रवृत्ति उस व्यक्ति की “आत्मिक सेवा” भी नहीं मानी जाएगी। 

• फिर 2 पद मसीही सेवक के लिए कहता है कि उसके अंदर आया परिवर्तन, मसीही विश्वास में आने से उसकी बुद्धि के नए हो जाने का प्रमाण, उसके बदले हुए जीवन में, उसके परिवर्तित चाल-चलन और व्यवहार के द्वारा दिखाई देना चाहिए। उसके अंदर हुए परिवर्तन का यही बाहरी प्रमाण है। इसके अतिरिक्त व्यक्ति के आत्मिक या परमेश्वर का जन हो जाने, उसके अंदर परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा के बस जाने का और कोई प्रमाण बाइबल में नहीं दिया गया है - मन का परिवर्तन, व्यवहार और जीवन के परिवर्तन से दिखाई देता है; न कि उछलने-कूदने, शोर मचाने, नाटकीय व्यवहार करने, और मुँह से विचित्र, तथा समझ में न आने वाली आवाज़ें निकालने के द्वारा।

• जिनके अन्दर यह परिवर्तन दिखाई देने लगता है, वे फिर परमेश्वर की इच्छा को जानने वाले भी बन जाते हैं। यह विश्वासी के जीवन में एक निरंतर होती रहने वाली, तथा और भी उन्नत होती रहने वाली प्रक्रिया है। जैसे-जैसे विश्वासी “बुद्धि के नये हो जाने से तुम्हारा चाल-चलन भी बदलता जाए” वैसे-वैसे वह परमेश्वर की इच्छा को और अधिक जानता चला जाता है; और यह उस व्यक्ति के परमेश्वर के साथ बने रहने से होते चले जाने वाले अनुभवों में होकर होता है। 

    यदि आप एक मसीही विश्वासी हैं, परमेश्वर के लिए उपयोगी होना चाहते हैं, तो उसको समर्पित और उसकी आज्ञाकारिता का जीवन भी जीना सीखिए। धार्मिक रीति-रिवाजों, कार्यों, और परंपराओं के निर्वाह से कोई परमेश्वर को प्रसन्न नहीं कर सका है (प्रेरितों 15:10; 1 पतरस 1:18-19)। परमेश्वर ने आपको उद्धार देने के साथ ही आपके लिए कुछ भले कार्य निर्धारित कर रखे हैं (इफिसियों 2:10); आपकी सहायता तथा मार्गदर्शन के लिए अपना पवित्र आत्मा आप में बसा दिया है, जो सर्वदा आपके साथ रहता है; अपना जीवता वचन आपके हाथों में दे दिया है; और आपको अपने परिवार का, अपनी कलीसिया का एक अंग बना लिया है। अब आपको परमेश्वर द्वारा दिए गए इन संसाधनों एवं प्रयोजनों के उचित प्रयोग के द्वारा, रोमियों 12:1-2 का पालन करना है, जिससे आप तथा आपके कार्य उसे स्वीकार्य हो सकें, और आप उसकी आशीषों के संभागी हो सकें। परमेश्वर की आज्ञाकारिता के अतिरिक्त, उसे प्रसन्न करने, उसे आशीषें पाने का कोई अन्य मार्ग नहीं है (1 शमूएल 15:22)।

    अगले लेख में हम रोमियों 12:3 से आज की बातों से सम्बन्धित अपना आँकलन करने के बारे में देखेंगे। 

    यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। स्वेच्छा से अपने पापों के लिये पश्चाताप करके और प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु, मैं अपने पापों के लिए पश्चातापी हूँ, उनके लिए आप से क्षमा माँगता हूँ। मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मुझे और मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

Utilizing the Gifts of the Holy Spirit – 2

 

    While learning about the stewardship of the gifts of the Holy Spirit by the Christian Believers, in the last article we had begun learning about the utilization of these gifts from Romans 12, and had seen some related preliminary considerations. We had closed the last article with the thought that the Believer’s first need to develop a correct spiritual perspective about their ministry, since it is impossible to carry out a Spiritual Ministry with a worldly and temporal attitude and perspective. Once we have the right perspective, only then can we understand God’s point-of-view about His work, i.e., our God assigned ministry, and fulfil it. It is then that we and our works will be acceptable to God, please Him and bring blessings for us. For this reason, the Holy Spirit begins this chapter, Romans 12, with the exhortation through Paul, “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God” (Romans 12:1-2).

    Today we will look at the things to take note of in these two verses, to develop this correct spiritual perspective about working for God. The things mentioned here are:

• Verse 1 begins with reminding the Christian Believer about the mercy of God; to understand this better, this should be seen in its context, i.e., along with the preceding verses. In chapter 11, particularly towards its end, the greatness of God and His universal power and glory have been mentioned. In comparison to this glorious and exalted stature of God, His being the supreme, omnipotent, omniscient, omnipresent One, when man considers his own puny, sinful, and unacceptable condition before God, then man realizes that there is nothing in him that God should pay any attention towards him, converse with him, or have anything to do with him. But still, since God loves all the people of the whole world, wants to have them all come into fellowship with Him, give everyone the honor of being His children (John 1:12-13), therefore the opening verse of this chapter is, “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God…”. The implication is that for the Spiritual Ministry and proper utilization of the Spiritual gifts, man should not take pride in, or rely upon his own abilities, physical power and prowess, and skills. Instead, man, being aware of his own Spiritual inabilities should come before God in an attitude of humility, submission, and obedience and should do what God instructs him to do bearing in mind God’s grace and mercy towards him, instead of trying to get God do what man wants done from Him.

• Then, in the second part of the verse, the Holy Spirit calls for the Christian Believer to offer himself as a living sacrifice to God, and calls doing this as “your reasonable service.” Here the Old Testament imagery of offering sacrifices to God for being accepted as His people, receiving forgiveness from Him, and for worshipping God has been brought to mind. In the Law given by God, there was a method for offering each kind of sacrifice, and a prescribed form of worship; nothing was arbitrary or according to any man’s decision, discretion, or preference. There was another important thing about the sacrifice being offered, whatever be the sacrifice or the nature and purpose of the sacrifice, that which once had been offered before God, would not return back into the hands of the person who was offering the sacrifice! Either it was totally burnt and turned to ashes, or it was handed over to the Priests for their use. Similarly, the life that has once been consecrated to the Lord God, surrendered for His use, cannot be taken back from Him and used again for temporal and worldly things. If it is being taken back, if it is being used again for temporal and worldly things, for physical lusts and desires, then it means that the life had not actually been “sacrificed” i.e., consecrated and surrendered to the Lord God for His use. Therefore, such a life will never be useful for the Lord God and will never glorify Him, no matter what the person may say, do, or show externally. Also, this dual utilization - for the world, body and temporal things, as well as for spiritual things will not be valid or acceptable; and such service will not be considered a “spiritual service” acceptable to God.

• Then verse 2 says about the Christian worker that the change that has come within him because of his coming into the Christian Faith, should be externally and practically evident by the renewing of his mind, his changed life, his changed attitude and behavior. These are the external evidence of the inner transformation that has happened in him. Other than this no other proof of a person’s having become a Spiritual person i.e., a child of God, and the Holy Spirit having come to reside in him has been given in the Bible - a transformed heart and mind is shown and proven by a changed life and behavior; not by jumping, shouting, dramatic actions, making strange non-understandable noises etc.

• Those, in whom this transformation becomes evident, then they also become the people who start discerning the will of God. This is a process that continually keeps carrying on and improving in the person’s life. As one is more and more “transformed by the renewing of your mind,” he starts discerning and learning the will of God more and more; and this happens through his experiences of remaining in fellowship with God.

    If you are a Christian Believer, and want to become useful for God, then learn to live a life surrendered and obedient to Him. No one can please God by fulfilling religious rituals, ceremonies, works, and festivals (Acts 15:10; 1 Peter 1:18-19). Along with giving you salvation, God has also kept some good works for you to do (Ephesians 2:10); He has placed His Holy Spirit within you for your help and guidance, who always remains with you; He has placed His Living Word in your hands; and He has made you a member of His heavenly family, and of His Body, the Church. Now for you to properly and worthily utilize these resources that God has provided you, you have to follow Romans 12:1-2, so that your works are acceptable to Him and you receive His blessings. Except for obedience to God, there is no other way of pleasing Him and being blessed by Him (1 Samuel 15:22).

    In the next article we will see from Romans 12:3 about self-evaluation in context of what we have seen today. 

    If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord, make your decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now to ensure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Voluntarily repent of your sins and ask the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily and sincerely, surrender yourself to Him - this is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life.  Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.

पिछले लेखों में हमने देखा था,जैसा कि प्रभु यीशु मसीह ने मत्ती 22:21 में कहा है,  पृथ्वी और स्वर्ग के मानकों और गुणों में भिन्नता है। यद्यपि पृथ्वी के गुण और मानक पृथ्वी पर के कार्यों के लिये अनिवार्य और आवश्यक हैं, परन्तु परमेश्वर को स्वीकार्य होने और उसकी दृष्टि में भले होने के लिये, व्यक्ति को परमेश्वर के मानकों और गुणों के अनुसार भला और स्वीकार्य होना होगा। हमने यह भी देखा ठा कि मसीही विश्वास तथा मसीही विश्वासी के लिए परमेश्वर का वचन ही भले और बुरे के मध्य अन्तर की पहचान करवाता है, उसे परिभाषित करता है। सांसारिक मानकों और बातों के आधार पर, बाइबल के परमेश्वर का और उसकी बातों एवं निर्देशों का सही आँकलन तथा उनकी वैध समीक्षा नहीं की जा सकती है। फिर हमने देखा कि मनुष्य अपने जन्म से ही पाप के साथ संसार में प्रवेश करता है (भजन 51:5), और उसकी यह दशा उसकी मृत्यु तक उसके साथ बनी रहती है (यशायाह 64:6; रोमियों 3:10)। इसी कारण मनुष्य के जीवन भर उसमें तथा परमेश्वर के मध्य एक दूरी, एक अलगाव की स्थिति बनी रहती है (यशायाह 59:2)। इसलिए कोई भी मनुष्य अपनी स्वाभाविक, अपरिवर्तित शारीरिक दशा में, न तो परमेश्वर को प्रसन्न कर सकता है, और न ही अपनी किसी भलाई, या अपने कर्मों के द्वारा कुछ ऐसा कर सकता है कि परमेश्वर को स्वीकार्य बन सके। और फिर हमने देखा था कि बाइबल की परिभाषा के अनुसार केवल परमेश्वर ही है जो वास्तव में भला है (मरकुस 10:18)। साथ ही हमने यह भी देखा था कि नए नियम में प्रभु यीशु मसीह ने (मत्ती 19:17) और पुराने नियम में परमेश्वर यहोवा ने कहा है कि परमेश्वर की व्यवस्था के पालन के द्वारा मनुष्य जीवन में प्रवेश कर सकता है (लैव्यव्यवस्था 18:5; नहेम्याह 9:29; यहेजकेल 20:11। अब यह एक विचित्र विरोधाभास की, एक विडंबना की स्थिति को उत्पन्न करने वाली बात प्रतीत होती है। इस प्रतीत होने वाले विरोधाभास या विडंबना के समाधान के लिए हमें यह समझना आवश्यक है कि जिस व्यवस्था के पालन की बात की जा रही है, वास्तव में वह है क्या? आज से हम इसी बात पर अध्ययन आरम्भ करेंगे। 

लोगों को यह असमंजस रहता है कि जब पुराने नियम के लोगों से ज़ोर देकर उस व्यवस्था के पालन के लिए कहा गया था, उनके लिए यह करना अनिवार्य किया गया था, और साथ ही उन्हें परमेश्वर द्वारा आश्वस्त किया गया था कि व्यवस्था के पालन से वे जीवित रहेंगे, तो फिर आज हमारे जीवन पाने के लिए उसी व्यवस्था का पालन करने में क्या समस्या है? और फिर क्यों, नए नियम में, मसीही विश्वास में, यह इतना ज़ोर देकर कहा जाता है, इस बात के मानने को अनिवार्य किया जाता है कि कर्मों से, व्यवस्था के पालन से, किसी धर्म विशेष अथवा परिवार विशेष, यहाँ तक कि ईसाई धर्म और ईसाई या मसीही परिवार में भी जन्म ले लेने और उसकी मान्यताओं को निभाने से भी उद्धार या परमेश्वर को स्वीकार्य होना संभव ही नहीं है? क्यों सभी को पश्चाताप करना और प्रभु यीशु मसीह से पापों की क्षमा को व्यक्तिगत रीति से अपने लिए प्राप्त करना अनिवार्य कहा जाता है? परमेश्वर की व्यवस्था के होते हुए, और उसके द्वारा जीवन में प्रवेश मिलने की बात को प्रभु परमेश्वर द्वारा कहे जाने के बावजूद, क्यों यह कहा और सिखाया जाता है कि मसीही विश्वासियों को व्यवस्था के पालन की कोई आवश्यकता नहीं है, व्यवस्था के पालन से कोई भी लाभ नहीं होगा, और न ही कोई परमेश्वर के राज्य में प्रवेश करने पाएगा, या परमेश्वर को स्वीकार्य होने पाएगा?

सामान्यतः लोग समझते हैं कि व्यवस्था से अर्थ है पुराने नियम में, मूसा द्वारा लिखित पहली पाँच पुस्तकों में दिए गए भेंट, बलिदानों, पर्वों, विधियों, नियमों आदि का निर्वाह। किन्तु वास्तविकता यह है कि ये बातें व्यवस्था नहीं हैं। ये सभी बातें तो व्यवस्था के मानकों के अनुसार दोषी पाए गए मनुष्यों को उनके पाप-दोष की दशा, और उस दोष के समाधान के लिए किसी निर्दोष के उनके पापों को अपने ऊपर उठाने और उनके लिए अपना जीवन बलिदान देने को स्मरण करवाते रहने की विभिन्न प्रक्रियाएं हैं, जो प्रभु यीशु मसीह के जीवन, कार्य और बलिदान के पुराने नियम में दिए गए विभिन्न प्रतीक एवं प्ररूप हैं। ये परमेश्वर के कार्यों और गुणों को स्मरण करवाने वाली विधियाँ हैं; ये विधियाँ पाप को केवल स्मरण करवा सकती हैं, कभी पाप को हटा नहीं सकती हैं (इब्रानियों 10:3-4)। 

तो फिर व्यवस्था क्या है? प्रभु यीशु मसीह द्वारा, उनसे परमेश्वर की सबसे बड़ी आज्ञा के विषय प्रश्न करने वाले एक व्यवस्थापक को दिए गए उत्तर से ही इसे समझिए और जानिए: “उसने उस से कहा, तू परमेश्वर अपने प्रभु से अपने सारे मन और अपने सारे प्राण और अपनी सारी बुद्धि के साथ प्रेम रख। बड़ी और मुख्य आज्ञा तो यही है और उसी के समान यह दूसरी भी है, कि तू अपने पड़ोसी से अपने समान प्रेम रख। ये ही दो आज्ञाएं सारी व्यवस्था और भविष्यद्वक्ताओं का आधार है” (मत्ती 22:37-40; साथ ही यहाँ पद 35-40 + रोमियों 13:9 को भी देखिये)। व्यवस्था को और अधिक जानने और बेहतर समझने को हम अपने अगले लेख में ज़ारी रखेंगे।

The Law – Part 1 - Biblically, What is the Law? – 1

In previous articles we have seen, as the Lord Jesus said in Matthew 22:21, the earthly and heavenly criteria and standards are different. While earthly criteria and standards serve earthly purposes, and are necessary for them; to be acceptable to God and be good in His eyes, one has to be good and acceptable by His criteria and standards. We also saw that in the Christian faith and for the Christian Believers it is God's Word that defines good, and identifies the difference between good and bad or evil. The God of the Bible and His Word and instructions cannot be correctly evaluated and assessed on the basis of worldly standards and things. Then we saw that man, right from his birth, enters the world with sin (Psalm 51:5) and this condition remains with him till his death (Isaiah 64:6; Romans 3:10). That is why throughout the life of man there remains a separation between him and God (Isaiah 59:2). Therefore, no man, in his natural, unregenerate physical condition, can ever please God; neither by his goodness, nor by any of his actions, can he do anything to become acceptable to God. And then we saw that by the Biblical definition it is only God who really is good (Mark 10:18). We also saw that in the New Testament the Lord Jesus Christ (Matthew 19:17), and in the Old Testament the God Jehovah (Leviticus 18:5; Nehemiah 9:29; Ezekiel 20:11) have said that man can enter life by obeying God's Law. This now appears to be a strange paradox, an inexplicable situation. To solve this apparent contradiction or paradox, it is necessary for us to understand what exactly is the Law that is being talked about? We will begin studying this from today.

People are perplexed that when for Old Testament people it was made mandatory to keep that Law, it was strongly emphasized that they do so, and at the same time they were assured by God that by keeping the Law they would live, then what's the problem with our obeying and following the same Law today to get life? And then why, in the New Testament, in the Christian faith, is it emphasized so much that it is necessary to realize and accept that by good deeds, by the observance of the Law, by being born in a particular religion or family, even being born in Christian religion or in a Christian family and following its beliefs does not ever make a person saved or acceptable to God? Why is it necessary for everyone to individually repent and personally receive the forgiveness of sins from the Lord Jesus Christ? Why then is it said and taught that Christians have no need to keep the Law, despite it being God's Law, and the Lord God speaking of entering life by observing it? And why is it taught in the New Testament that no one will benefit from keeping the Law, nor by observing it will anyone be able to enter the kingdom of God, or be acceptable to God?

The general understanding of the people is that the Law of the Old Testament, means the observance of the offerings, sacrifices, festivals, statutes, ordinances given in the first five books of Moses. But the reality is that these things are not the Law. All these things are various processes of reminding us of being guilty according to the standards of the Law, about the state of our sinfulness, and the fact for us an innocent animal must bear our sins and its life be sacrificed; all of these are various symbols and forms given in the Old Testament of the life, work and sacrifice of the Lord Jesus Christ. These are rituals to remind us of the works and qualities of God. Though these rituals and methods can repeatedly remind us of our sin, but they can never permanently take away our sin (Hebrews 10:3-4).

Then what is the Law? Let us understand and learn this from the answer given by the Lord Jesus Christ to a Scribe, who asked him about the greatest commandment of God: “Jesus said to him, "'You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.' This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like it: 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself.' On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets” (Matthew 22:37-40; here, also see from 35-40 + Romans 13:9). We will continue learning more and understanding better about the Law in the next article.

फसह तथा प्रभु की मेज़ - प्रभु परमेश्वर को आदर और महिमा देने के लिए (2)

 

       पिछले लेख में हमने देखा था कि परमेश्वर ने मिस्र से इस्राएल के छुटकारे के समय दिए गए मेमने के बलिदान को हमेशा के लिए समस्त इस्राएलियों द्वारा उस छुटकारे को याद करने के लिए मनाए जाने वाले फसह के वार्षिक पर्व में परिवर्तित किया था। साथ ही हमने इस्राएलियों के ही व्यवहार से यह भी देखा था कि यह मानवीय प्रवृत्ति है कि वह शीघ्र ही अपनी कही बात भुला कर कुछ भिन्न ही करने लगता है। इसलिए यह स्मरण दिलाने की बात अति आवश्यक एवं महत्वपूर्ण है। प्रभु-भोज भी हमें हमारे पापों से छुटकारे के लिए प्रभु के बलिदान और पुनरुत्थान का स्मरण करवाता है, कहीं हम इस छुटकारे को अपनी धार्मिकता और कार्यों का परिणाम न समझने लगें। आज हम इसी बात को निर्गमन 12:42 से देखेंगे।

       निर्गमन 12:42 में उल्लेखित दूसरी बात है कि यहोवा परमेश्वर ही उन्हें मिस्र से निकाल कर लाया था। वे लोग अपने आप से कुछ भी नहीं करने पाए थे। हम देख चुके हैं, कि जैसे निर्गमन 1:7-12 में लिखा है, इस्राएली संख्या में मिस्रियों से अधिक हो गए थे, वे मिस्रियों से अधिक सामर्थी थे, और मिस्रियों पर उनका भय छाया हुआ था; फिर भी अपनी कुटिलता के द्वारा मिस्रियों ने इस्राएली लोगों को अपनी बंधुवाई में ले लिया, उन्हें सताने लग गए, और इस्राएली छुटकारे के लिए परमेश्वर को पुकारने लगे (निर्गमन 3:7-9)। इस्राएलियों की संख्या और सामर्थ्य उन्हें मिस्रियों की कुटिलता, बंधुवाई, और सताव से नहीं छुड़ा सकी। इसी प्रकार से मसीही विश्वासियों को भी उनकी किसी योग्यता, धर्म, धार्मिक तथा भले कामों, कैसी भी “धार्मिकता”, आदि ने नहीं छुड़ाया और न ही उद्धार दिया है। यह केवल परमेश्वर के अनुग्रह से, प्रभु यीशु के कलवरी के क्रूस पर हमारे पापों के लिए दिए गए बलिदान और उनकी कीमत के चुकाए जाने से मिली पापों की क्षमा के द्वारा संभव हुआ है (इफिसियों 2:1-9)। प्रभु यीशु ने अपने शिष्यों से कहा है कि उसकी मेज़ में, उसके इसी बलिदान की याद में भाग लिया करें (लूका 22:19; 1 कुरिन्थियों 11:24-25), अर्थात, उसने जो उनके लिए किया है, उन्हें किस प्रकार अनन्त विनाश से बचाया है, उसे याद करते हुए।

        इसलिए, प्रभु भोज में सम्मिलित होना अपनी किसी “धार्मिकता”, सांसारिक ओहदे, किसी प्रकार के कार्यों, या किसी योग्यता के प्रदर्शन के लिए या घमण्ड करने के लिए नहीं है। वरन, यह अपने आप को दीन और नम्र करके उस बात को याद करना है जो प्रभु ने हमारे पापों से हमें छुड़ाने के लिए सही है; और पश्चातापी; कृतज्ञता से भरे हृदय के साथ, हमारे लिए उसके द्वारा दिए गए बलिदान को स्मरण करने के लिए है। इसी बात के कारण, प्रभु की मेज़ में सम्मिलित होना किसी को भी पवित्र, या धर्मी, या परमेश्वर को स्वीकार्य नहीं बना सकता है। जैसे प्रभु यीशु मसीह ने आज्ञा दी है, यह मेज़ केवल यादगार के लिए है, न कि इस भाग लेने वालों को कुछ प्रदान करने के लिए। यह ध्यान रखते हुए कि मेज़ किस बात की यादगार के लिए है, भाग लेने वालों को इसमें नम्रता, आज्ञाकारिता, और उसके प्रति समर्पण के साथ भाग लेना है, जिसे वे याद कर रहे हैं और जिस कारण से उसे याद कर रहे हैं।  

        यदि आप एक मसीही विश्वासी हैं, और प्रभु की मेज़ में भाग लेते रहे हैं, तो कृपया अपने जीवन को जाँच कर देख लें कि आप वास्तव में पापों से छुड़ाए गए हैं तथा आप ने अपना जीवन प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता में जीने के लिए उस को समर्पित किया है। आपके लिए यह अनिवार्य है कि आप परमेश्वर के वचन की सही शिक्षाओं को जानने के द्वारा एक परिपक्व विश्वासी बनें, तथा सभी शिक्षाओं को वचन की कसौटी पर परखने, और बेरिया के विश्वासियों के समान, लोगों की बातों को पहले वचन से जाँचने और उनकी सत्यता को निश्चित करने के बाद ही उनको स्वीकार करने और मानने वाले बनें (प्रेरितों 17:11; 1 थिस्सलुनीकियों 5:21)। अन्यथा शैतान द्वारा छोड़े हुए झूठे प्रेरित और भविष्यद्वक्ता मसीह के सेवक बन कर (2 कुरिन्थियों 11:13-15) अपनी ठग विद्या और चतुराई से आपको प्रभु के लिए अप्रभावी कर देंगे और आप के मसीही जीवन एवं आशीषों का नाश कर देंगे।

        यदि आपने अभी तक प्रभु की शिष्यता को स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी उसके पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। यदि आपने अभी तक नया जन्म, उद्धार नहीं पाया है, प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा नहीं माँगी है, तो अभी आपके पास समय और अवसर है कि यह कर लें। प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” परमेश्वर आपके साथ संगति रखने की बहुत लालसा रखता है तथा आपको आशीषित देखना चाहता है, लेकिन इसे सम्भव करना आपका व्यक्तिगत निर्णय है। सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी। क्या आप अभी समय और अवसर होते हुए, इस प्रार्थना को नहीं करेंगे? निर्णय आपका है।

English Translation

The Passover & The Lord’s Table - To Honor & Exalt The Lord God (2)

 

       In the previous article we had seen that God had converted the sacrifice of the lamb done at the time of Israel's deliverance from Egypt, as an annual feast to be observed by the Israelites. We had also seen from the behavior of the Israelites, that it is a common human tendency to soon forget what they have said, and start doing things differently. Therefore, it is very important and essential to have something to keep us reminding about certain things. The Holy Communion too reminds us that we have been saved from the consequences of our sins by the sacrifice and resurrection of the Lord Jesus; lest we start thinking and believing that it is the result of our own works and righteousness. Today, we will see about this from this verse, Exodus 12:42.

       The second thing mentioned in Exodus 12:42 is that it was the Lord God who brought them out of Egypt. They could not do anything about it by themselves. We have seen, that as written in Exodus 1:7-12, that the Israelites had become more in number than the Egyptians, they were mightier than the Egyptians, and the Egyptians were in dread of them; yet because of the shrewd handling by the Egyptians, the Israelites were under oppression and were crying out to the Lord for deliverance (Exodus 3:7-9). The numbers and might of the Israelites could not deliver them from the shrewd tactics, bondage, and oppression of the Egyptians. Similarly, the Christian Believers have been redeemed and saved not by any of their capabilities, or religion, or religious and good works, or any kind of “righteousness” etc., but solely by the grace of God, through forgiveness of our sins because of the Lord Jesus having paid for them on the Cross of Calvary on our behalf (Ephesians 2:1-9). The Lord Jesus has asked His disciples to partake of His Table in remembrance of His sacrifice for them (Luke 22:19; 1 Corinthians 11:24-25), i.e., in remembrance of what He has done for them, how He has saved them from eternal destruction.

        So, partaking of the Lord’s Table is not to show off or be proud of one’s “righteousness”, worldly status, works of any kind, or any capabilities. But it is to humble ourselves, remember and acknowledge what the Lord had to undergo to save us from our sins; and with a contrite, humble heart full of gratitude, remember His sacrifice for our sake. For this very reason the partaking in the Table cannot make anyone holy, or righteous, or acceptable to God. As decreed by the Lord Jesus, the Table is only for remembrance, and not to impart anything to the participants. In view of what it commemorates, the participants have to take part in humility, obedience and submission to the one they are remembering, and the reason He is to be remembered.

       If you are a Christian Believer, and have been participating in the Lord’s Table, then please examine your life and make sure that you are actually a disciple of the Lord, i.e., are redeemed from your sins, have submitted and surrendered your life to the Lord Jesus to live in obedience to Him and His Word. You should also always, like the Berean Believers, first check and test all teachings that you receive from the Word of God, and only after ascertaining the truth and veracity of the teachings brought to you by men, should you accept and obey them (Acts 17:11; 1 Thessalonians 5:21). If you do not do this, the false apostles and prophets sent by Satan as ministers of Christ (2 Corinthians 11:13-15), will by their trickery, cunningness, and craftiness render you ineffective for the Lord and cause severe damage to your Christian life and your rewards.

        If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord Jesus, then take a decision in its favor now to secure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. The Lord's security and blessings are present where there is obedience of the Lord, where His Word is honored and followed. If you are still not Born Again, have not obtained salvation, or have not asked the Lord Jesus for forgiveness for your sins, then you have the time and opportunity to do so right now. Ask the Lord Jesus to forgive your sins, and voluntarily and sincerely surrender yourselves into His hands - this is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. All you have to do is say a short prayer, voluntarily and with a sincere heart, with heartfelt repentance for your sins, and a fully submissive attitude. You can do this in this manner, “Lord Jesus, I confess that I have disobeyed You, and have knowingly or unknowingly, in mind, in thought, in attitude, and in deeds, committed sins. I believe that you have fully borne the punishment of my sins by your sacrifice on the cross, and have paid the full price of those sins for all eternity. Please forgive my sins, change my heart and mind towards you, and make me your disciple, take me with you." God longs for your company and wants to see you blessed, but to make this possible, is your personal decision. One prayer said with a sincere and surrendered heart will turn your present and future, your life here on earth and in the next world, forever and make you heavenly and blessed. Will you not say this prayer now, while you have the time and opportunity to do so? The decision is yours.
