व्यवस्था का उद्देश्य - 1 

 

पिछले लेखों में हमने रोमियों 7 अध्याय से व्यवस्था की सीमाओं को देखा है कि व्यवस्था केवल पाप की पहचान करवा कर मनुष्य को पाप के लिए दोषी तो ठहरा सकती है। साथ ही व्यवस्था उस पाप और दोष के लिए दण्ड भी बता सकती है, किन्तु मनुष्य को पाप करने से रोक नहीं सकती है। और न ही पापी को दंडित करने के बाद भी परमेश्वर के साथ संगति में बहाल कर सकती है। साथ ही हमने यह भी देखा कि क्योंकि व्यवस्था अपना उद्देश्य पूरा कर चुकी है, उसका समय पूरा हो चुका है (रोमियों 10:4), और प्रभु यीशु में होकर परमेश्वर ने व्यवस्था को हमारे सामने से हटा दिया गया है (Colossians 2:13-15), इसलिए अब मसीही विश्वासियों के लिए व्यवस्था की बातों में जाने और उनका पालन करने के प्रयास करने की कोई आवश्यकता नहीं है; बल्कि यह करना व्यवस्था के श्राप को आमंत्रित करना है (गलातियों 3:10; याकूब 2:10)। अब, व्यवस्था का पालन करने का हट करना, परमेश्वर की अनाज्ञाकारिता ही नहीं, वरन परमेश्वर के द्वारा हटा दी गई बात को पुनःस्थापित करने के द्वारा, परमेश्वर की अवहेलना और उसका अपमान करना भी है। व्यवस्था की इतनी सीमाओं और अक्षमताओं के बावजूद, परमेश्वर ने मनुष्यों को, अपने चुने हुए लोगों को व्यवस्था दी ही क्यों? परमेश्वर कोई भी कार्य निरुद्देश्य नहीं करता है, उसकी हर बात में एक योजना, एक उपयोगिता होती है। तो व्यवस्था के दिए जाने में क्या योजना और क्या उद्देश्य है? आज और अगले लेख में हम इसी प्रश्न के उत्तर को देखेंगे और समझेंगे।

 

इस शृंखला के आरंभिक लेखों में हमने मानव इतिहास का एक बहुत संक्षिप्त अवलोकन किया था, और इस निष्कर्ष पर पहुँचे थे कि चाहे मनुष्य अपनी बुद्धि, अपने प्रयासों, अपने द्वारा निर्धारित किए गए कार्यों के द्वारा धर्मी और पवित्र होने का प्रयास करे, अथवा परमेश्वर द्वारा दिए गए नियमों, विधियों, बलिदानों, आदि,अर्थात व्यवस्था के पालन के द्वारा यह करना चाहे, परिणाम एक ही है - मनुष्य कर्मों के द्वारा धर्मी, पवित्र, और सिद्ध कदापि नहीं बन पाता है। परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा ने प्रेरित पौलुस के द्वारा रोमियों की पत्री में लिखवाया है कि, “हम जानते हैं, कि व्यवस्था जो कुछ कहती है उन्हीं से कहती है, जो व्यवस्था के आधीन हैं: इसलिये कि हर एक मुंह बन्द किया जाए, और सारा संसार परमेश्वर के दण्ड के योग्य ठहरे” (रोमियों 3:19); अर्थात, व्यवस्था का उद्देश्य है संसार के सभी लोगों को उनकी वास्तविक पापमय दशा को दिखाना, और उसके परिणाम से अवगत करवाना। परमेश्वर की व्यवस्था मनुष्य के हाथों में होते हुए भी वह उसका पालन कर पाने में असमर्थ रहता है। अन्ततः हर मनुष्य को परमेश्वर के अनुग्रह और क्षमा के सहारे ही, पश्चाताप के द्वारा ही परमेश्वर को स्वीकार्य होना होता है; न कि किसी भी व्यवस्था के पालन के द्वारा - वह चाहे मानव-निर्मित हो, अथवा परमेश्वर-प्रदत।

 

यही व्यवस्था का पहला उद्देश्य है - मनुष्य में विद्यमान पाप के कारण, उसे उसकी क्षमताओं की सीमाओं से अवगत कराना, और उन सीमाओं के प्रति जागरूक रखना। इब्रानियों का लेखक, इस बात को इन शब्दों में व्यक्त करता है, “क्योंकि व्यवस्था जिस में आने वाली अच्छी वस्तुओं का प्रतिबिम्ब है, पर उन का असली स्वरूप नहीं, इसलिये उन एक ही प्रकार के बलिदानों के द्वारा, जो प्रति वर्ष अचूक चढ़ाए जाते हैं, पास आने वालों को कदापि सिद्ध नहीं कर सकती। नहीं तो उन का चढ़ाना बन्द क्यों न हो जाता? इसलिये कि जब सेवा करने वाले एक ही बार शुद्ध हो जाते, तो फिर उन का विवेक उन्हें पापी न ठहराता। परन्तु उन के द्वारा प्रति वर्ष पापों का स्मरण हुआ करता है।” पद 11 “और हर एक याजक तो खड़े हो कर प्रति दिन सेवा करता है, और एक ही प्रकार के बलिदान को जो पापों को कभी भी दूर नहीं कर सकते; बार बार चढ़ाता है” (इब्रानियों 10:1-3, 11)। अगले लेख में हम व्यवस्था के उद्देश्यों के बारे में आगे देखेंगे।

 

किन्तु अभी के लिए हमें यह समझने और फिर उसके अनुसार उचित निर्णय लेने, कदम उठाने की आवश्यकता है कि हमारे किसी भी प्रकार के कोई भी कर्म नहीं, केवल परमेश्वर की क्षमा और अनुग्रह ही पापों के परिणाम से बचा सकते हैं; और परमेश्वर ने यह प्रभु यीशु मसीह में होकर - सवेछा से उसे अपना प्रभु और उद्धारकर्ता स्वीकार करने तथा उसका समर्पित शिष्य बन जाने का का निर्णय ले लेने के द्वारा, संसार के सभी लोगों को मुफ्त में उपलब्ध करवा दिया है।

यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। स्वेच्छा से अपने पापों के लिये पश्चाताप करके, प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु, मैं अपने पापों के लिए पश्चातापी हूँ, उनके लिए आप से क्षमा माँगता हूँ। मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मुझे और मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

Law’s Purpose - 1

 

In previous articles, we've seen the limitations of the Law from Romans 7 that the Law can only get man to recognize sin, and it can hold man guilty of sin. The law can also prescribe the punishment for that sin and offense, but it cannot prevent man from committing sin. Nor can it restore the sinner to fellowship with God even after he has been punished. Also, we have seen that because the Law has fulfilled its purpose, has run its course (Romans 10:4), and has been taken away from us by God through the Lord Jesus (Colossians 2:13-15), therefore, the Christian Believers have no need to go into observing the things of the Law; doing so is inviting the curse of the Law (Galatians 3:10; James 2:10). Rather, their still insisting to do so is not only disobedience to God, but by trying to reinstate what has been taken away by God, it is also demeaning and insulting Him. Despite the many limitations and incapabilities of the Law, why did God give His Law to men, to His chosen people? God does not do anything in vain, He has a plan, a purpose in everything. So, what is the plan and what is the purpose in the giving of the Law? Today and in the next article we will see and understand the answer to this question.

In the initial articles of this series, we took a very brief look at human history, and came to the conclusion that whether man seeks to be righteous and holy through his own wisdom, his efforts, his self-devised deeds and actions, or through the Laws given by God, by the observance of statutes, sacrifices, etc., the result is the same — man never becomes righteous, holy, and perfect, by any works. God, the Holy Spirit, had it written through the apostle Paul that, “Now we know that whatever the law says, it says to those who are under the law, that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God" (Romans 3:19), i.e., the purpose of the Law is to bring before all the people of the world their sinful condition, and make them aware of its consequence. Even though the Law of God is in the hands of man, man is still unable to obey it. Ultimately, every human being becomes acceptable to God only through repentance of sins, and through God's grace and forgiveness; not through any Law - man-made or God-given.

 

This is the first purpose of the Law - to make man aware of the limits of his abilities because of the sin in him, and to keep him conscious of those limits. The author of Hebrews expressed this in these words, "For the law, having a shadow of the good things to come, and not the very image of the things, can never with these same sacrifices, which they offer continually year by year, make those who approach perfect. For then would they not have ceased to be offered? For the worshipers, once purified, would have had no more consciousness of sins. But in those sacrifices, there is a reminder of sins every year.” Verse 11 “And every priest stands ministering daily and offering repeatedly the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins” (Hebrews 10:1-3, 11).

 

In the next article we will consider further about the purpose of the Law. But for now we need understand, and then take the appropriate steps about it that none of our works of any kind can save us from the consequences of our sins, it is only the grace and forgiveness of God that can do this for us; and God has made it freely available for all of mankind through the Lord Jesus - by voluntarily accepting Him as our Lord and savior and deciding to become His committed disciple.

If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord, make your decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now to ensure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Repenting of your sins, and asking the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily and sincerely, surrendering yourself to Him - is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life.  Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.

व्यवस्था की चौथी सीमा, रोमियों 7:13 में लिखी है, किन्तु उसे उसके संदर्भ के पदों - पद 7-13 में देखना आवश्यक है। पद 7 में पवित्र आत्मा ने लिखवाया है कि व्यवस्था पाप नहीं है, वरन पाप की पहचान करवाती है - अर्थात एक ऐसा मानक है जिसके सामने रख कर परमेश्वर की दृष्टि में क्या सही और स्वीकार्य है, तथा क्या नहीं है, उसकी पहचान की जाती है। फिर पद 8-11 में पाप की पहचान के कारण उत्पन्न होने वाली शारीरिक अभिलाषाओं, और फिर उन्हें पूरा करने की लालसा के कारण पाप में गिर जाने की बात समझाई गए है, जिसे हम पद 5 के संदर्भ में पिछले लेख में देख चुके हैं। फिर पद 12 में पवित्र आत्मा व्यवस्था के तीन और गुण लिखवाता है, कि वह पवित्र, ठीक, और अच्छी है। तब वह पद 13 में लिखवाता है, “तो क्या वह जो अच्छी थी, मेरे लिये मृत्यु ठहरी? कदापि नहीं! परन्तु पाप उस अच्छी वस्तु के द्वारा मेरे लिये मृत्यु का उत्पन्न करने वाला हुआ कि उसका पाप होना प्रगट हो, और आज्ञा के द्वारा पाप बहुत ही पापमय ठहरे” (रोमियों 7:13)। अर्थात, कमी व्यवस्था में नहीं है; कमी व्यवस्था के प्रति हमारी समझ और व्यवहार, और शैतान द्वारा हमारे अंदर बसे हुए पाप के स्वभाव को उकसा कर व्यवस्था का उल्लंघन करवाते रहने में है। इससे प्रकट है कि इस संदर्भ में व्यवस्था की सीमा है कि वह पाप की पहचान तो करवा सकती है, लेकिन पाप पर जयवंत नहीं बना सकती है; हमें पाप करने से रोक नहीं सकती है, और पौलुस अपने जीवन और व्यवहार के उदाहरण से इस बात को पद 14-24 में समझाता है।

व्यवस्था की पाँचवीं सीमा पद 23 और 25 में दी गई है; “परन्तु मुझे अपने अंगों में दूसरे प्रकार की व्यवस्था दिखाई पड़ती है, जो मेरी बुद्धि की व्यवस्था से लड़ती है, और मुझे पाप की व्यवस्था के बन्धन में डालती है जो मेरे अंगों में है” (रोमियों 7:23); “मैं अपने प्रभु यीशु मसीह के द्वारा परमेश्वर का धन्यवाद करता हूं: निदान मैं आप बुद्धि से तो परमेश्वर की व्यवस्था का, परन्तु शरीर से पाप की व्यवस्था का सेवन करता हूं” (रोमियों 7:25)। व्यवस्था मनुष्य की बुद्धि पर तो काम कर सकती है, उसे भले-बुरे की पहचान करवा सकती है; किन्तु शरीर पर काम करने और पाप करने से रोकने में असमर्थ है। परमेश्वर का सत्य जानना बुद्धि का कार्य है; उस सत्य का पालन करना और जीवन में दिखाना, शरीर का कार्य है। व्यवस्था शरीर को नियंत्रित कर के उस सत्य मार्ग पर चलवाने में असमर्थ है, जो बुद्धि जानती और समझती है। बहुत सामान्य और जानी-पहचानी बात है, लोग जानते हैं कि शराब, तम्बाकू, मादक-पदार्थों, और अन्य ऐसे व्यसन के प्रयोग का परिणाम शरीर की हानि ही होता है; किन्तु फिर भी शरीर की लालसा के आगे असमर्थ हैं, उनका नियमित प्रयोग करते रहते हैं। सभी जानते हैं कि चोरी, धोखा, लूट, मार-पीट आदि करने के कारण दण्ड के भागी बन जाते हैं; किन्तु फिर भी इन बातों को करते हैं, और दण्ड भी भुगतते हैं। किन्तु शरीर के आगे असमर्थ हैं, और सद्बुद्धि की बातों का पालन नहीं करने पाते हैं।

 

अगले लेखों में हम व्यवस्था के उद्देश्य, और फिर उसकी माँग, उसके बाद उसकी उपयोगिता के विषय देखेंगे। किन्तु अभी के लिए, यदि आप अपनी धार्मिकता को किसी “व्यवस्था” के पालन के द्वारा - वह चाहे परमेश्वर की हो, या आपके धर्म, मत, समुदाय, या डिनॉमिनेशन की हो - प्रमाणित करने की, और अपने शरीर के कार्यों के द्वारा अपने आप को परमेश्वर को स्वीकार्य बनाने के प्रयासों में लगे हैं; तो व्यवस्था की सीमाओं को पहचानते, समझते, और स्वीकार करते हुए, आपको इन व्यर्थ प्रयासों से निकलकर, परमेश्वर के दिए हुए पश्चाताप और समर्पण करने के मार्ग का पालन करने की आवश्यकता है। अभी समय और अवसर रहते सही मार्ग अपना लें, और व्यर्थ तथा निष्फल मार्ग को छोड़ दें।

Law’s Capabilities & Incapabilities (Part 4)

 

In the preceding articles, we have been looking at the incapabilities of the Law, why it cannot provide salvation, from Romans chapter 7. So far, we have seen three limitations from Romans 7:1, 5, 6. These are, verse 1 - Law asserts dominion, convicts and judges; but has no scope for any mercy or consideration regarding the offense; verse 5 - the Law incites the fleshly desire to break it, and Satan exploits this to draw into committing sin; verse 6 - the Law has run its course, has fulfilled its purpose (Romans 10:4), and has been set aside for salvation by the Lord Jesus (Colossians 2:13-15); now anyone who desires to live by the Law invites the curse of the Law (Galatians 3:10; James 2:10) upon himself. Today we will look at the fourth and fifth limitations of the Law  from Romans 7.

The fourth limit of the Law is written in Romans 7:13, but it is necessary to look at it in its context - i.e., verses 7-13. In verse 7 the Holy Spirit has had it written that the Law is not sin, rather it identifies sin — it is a standard to measure, to identify what is right and acceptable in the eyes of God, and what is not. Then verses 8–11 explain how fleshly desires arise because of the knowledge of sin, and by wanting to fulfil those desires we fall into sin, and we have seen about this in the context of verse 5, an earlier article. Then in verse 12 the Holy Spirit got written down three more qualities of the Law, that it is holy, just, and good. Then is written in verse 13, "Has then what is good become death to me? Certainly not! But sin, that it might appear sin, was producing death in me through what is good, so that sin through the commandment might become exceedingly sinful” (Romans 7:13). That is to say that the deficiency is not in the Law; it is in our understanding and utilization of the Law. And Satan continually incites us to violate the Law and commit sin by provoking the sin nature that is ingrained in us. It is evident from this that the Law has a limitation in this context, that it can identify sin for us, but it cannot help us to overcome sin; it cannot keep us from sinning, and Paul illustrates this in verses 14–24 with the example of his life and behavior.

The fifth limit of the Law is given in verses 23 and 25; “But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members” (Romans 7:23); “I thank God--through Jesus Christ our Lord! So then, with the mind I myself serve the law of God, but with the flesh the law of sin” (Romans 7:25). The Law can work in the mind of man, it can make the mind identify the good and the bad. But the Law cannot make the body stay away from committing what the mind knows as sins. To know and recognize God’s truth is a work of the mind; but to obey and live out that truth in life is the function of the body. The Law is unable to control the body and lead it on to the right path which the mind already knows and understands. It is a very common and well-known thing that the people know that the use of alcohol, tobacco, drugs, and other such addictive substances causes harm to the body. But still, they are unable to control the craving of the body for these harmful things, and therefore keep using them regularly. Everyone knows that for committing theft, cheating, plundering, violence, etc., they will be punished; but they still do these things, even though they also suffer punishment. But they are helpless before the desires of the body, and are unable to follow the truth that their minds know.

In the coming articles, we'll look at the purpose of the Law, then its demands, and then its utility. But for now, if you trust in your being righteous through observance of some "law" — whether that of God, or of your religion, creed, community, or denomination; or have been trying to prove yourself righteous and acceptable to God through good works, i.e., through works of the flesh; then it is time you recognize, understand, and accept the limitations of the Law you are trusting. You need to step out of these vain efforts, and follow the path of repentance and submission given by God. Now, while you have the time and opportunity, make the right decision and leave the vain and fruitless path.

If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord, make your decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now to ensure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Repenting of your sins, and asking the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily and sincerely, surrendering yourself to Him - is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life.  Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.

इस प्रश्न पर विचार करते हुए कि व्यवस्था क्यों हमें उद्धार नहीं दे सकती है, पिछले कुछ लेखों से हम रोमियों 7 अध्याय से व्यवस्था की सीमाओं के बारे में देखते आ रहे हैं। पिछले लेखों में हमने रोमियों 7:1, 5 से व्यवस्था की दो सीमाओं को देखा और समझा था। पहली, पद 1 से थी कि व्यवस्था प्रभुता करती है; उसमें दया, करुणा, व्यक्ति की परिस्थिति को समझना नहीं है; वह केवल दोषी ठहरा सकती है और दोष का दण्ड बता सकती है। दूसरी, पद 2 से थी कि व्यवस्था के कारण शरीर में अभिलाषाएं उत्पन्न होती हैं, जिनमें गिरा कर शैतान पाप करवा देता है। आज हम रोमियों 7 अध्याय में दी गई व्यवस्था की एक और सीमा और सम्बन्धित बातों को देखेंगे, जिन के कारण व्यवस्था उद्धार देने में असमर्थ है।

तीसरी और बहुत महत्वपूर्ण सीमा रोमियों 7:6 में दी गई है, जहाँ लिखा है, “परन्तु जिस के बन्धन में हम थे उसके लिये मर कर, अब व्यवस्था से ऐसे छूट गए, कि लेख की पुरानी रीति पर नहीं, वरन आत्मा की नई रीति पर सेवा करते हैं” (रोमियों 7:6)। प्रभु के शिष्यों, उस पर विश्वास और उसे जीवन समर्पण करने वाले लोगों, अर्थात मसीही विश्वासियों को व्यवस्था से छुड़ा लिया गया है; अब व्यवस्था उनके लिए लागू, और उन पर कार्यकारी नहीं है। वे अब व्यवस्था की बातों के पालन से, उस पर आधारित होकर परमेश्वर के समक्ष धर्मी बनने और परमेश्वर को स्वीकार्य होने से मुक्त कर दिए गए हैं। रोमियों में ही पौलुस आगे लिखता है, “क्योंकि हर एक विश्वास करने वाले के लिये धामिर्कता के निमित मसीह व्यवस्था का अन्त है” (रोमियों 10:4)। परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा की अगुवाई में, इसी विषय पर, प्रेरित पौलुस ने, कुलुस्से की मसीही मण्डली को, प्रभु यीशु मसीह द्वारा हमारे उद्धार के लिए किए गए काम के विषय लिखा, “और उसने तुम्हें भी, जो अपने अपराधों, और अपने शरीर की खतनारहित दशा में मुर्दा थे, उसके साथ जिलाया, और हमारे सब अपराधों को क्षमा किया। और विधियों का वह लेख जो हमारे नाम पर और हमारे विरोध में था मिटा डाला; और उसको क्रूस पर कीलों से जड़ कर सामने से हटा दिया है। और उसने प्रधानताओं और अधिकारों को अपने ऊपर से उतार कर उन का खुल्लमखुल्ला तमाशा बनाया और क्रूस के कारण उन पर जय-जय-कार की ध्वनि सुनाई” (कुलुस्सियों 2:13-15)। अब जिसे परमेश्वर ने ही प्रभु यीशु मसीह में पूरा कर के, हमारे सामने से हटा दिया है, तो उसके सहारे से, उसके पालन के द्वारा, हम परमेश्वर की दृष्टि में धर्मी और उसे स्वीकार्य कैसे हो सकते हैं? इसलिए व्यवस्था के पालन के द्वारा उद्धार पाने के प्रयास व्यर्थ हैं, असफल ही होंगे।

शैतान ने प्रथम कलीसिया के समय से ही मसीही विश्वासियों द्वारा भी व्यवस्था के पालन को अनिवार्य बनाने, और अपनी इस कुटिलता के द्वारा उन्हें विश्वास से नहीं वरन कर्मों से धर्मी ठहरने के जाल में फंसाने के प्रयास आरम्भ कर दिये थे। इस विषय पर प्रभु के भाई और प्रथम कलीसिया के एक अगुवे, याकूब ने अपनी पत्री में लिखा है, “क्योंकि जो कोई सारी व्यवस्था का पालन करता है परन्तु एक ही बात में चूक जाए तो वह सब बातों में दोषी ठहरा” (याकूब 2:10)। अर्थात, व्यवस्था का पालन तब ही सार्थक समझा जा सकता है जब व्यक्ति उस की हर एक बात को अपने मन, ध्यान, विचारों, और कर्मों में पूरा करे, कहीं पर भी ऐसा करने में कदापि न चूके। क्योंकि यदि वह अपने समस्त जीवन में यदि एक भी बार, एक भी बात के लिए, चाहे अनजाने में ही सही, चूक गया तो सम्पूर्ण व्यवस्था के उल्लंघन का दोषी हो गया, और उसका सभी बातों का पालन करते रहना व्यर्थ बन गया।

 

प्रथम कलीसिया के अगुवों में जब इस विषय पर चर्चा हुई, तो व्यवस्था पालन की इस माँग के विषय प्रेरित पतरस ने कहा, “तो अब तुम क्यों परमेश्वर की परीक्षा करते हो कि चेलों की गरदन पर ऐसा जूआ रखो, जिसे न हमारे बाप-दादे उठा सके थे और न हम उठा सकते” (प्रेरितों 15:10; कृपया प्रेरितों 15 अध्याय पढ़ें); अर्थात व्यवस्था की यह माँग कभी कोई भी पूरी नहीं कर सका था। प्रेरित पौलुस ने भी इस बात की पुष्टि करते हुए गलातिया की मण्डली को लिखा, “सो जितने लोग व्यवस्था के कामों पर भरोसा रखते हैं, वे सब श्राप के आधीन हैं, क्योंकि लिखा है, कि जो कोई व्यवस्था की पुस्‍तक में लिखी हुई सब बातों के करने में स्थिर नहीं रहता, वह श्रापित है” (गलातियों 3:10)। अर्थात प्रभु द्वारा अनुग्रह से उद्धार पाने की बजाए, अपने कर्मों से व्यवस्था के पालन के द्वारा उद्धार पाने वालों को यह ध्यान रखना चाहिए कि ऐसा करने में एक भी बात में चूक जाना, फिर से श्राप में, मृत्यु-दण्ड के लिए दोषी होने में चले जाना है।

हम पिछले लेखों में देख चुके हैं कि शैतान और उसके दूत, दुष्टात्माएँ, जो अपनी सृष्टि से ही हर तरह से मनुष्य से अधिक सामर्थी और बुद्धिमान हैं, वे कभी भी मनुष्यों को अपनी बातों, युक्तियों, और कुटिलताओं में फंसा कर आसानी से पाप में गिरा सकते हैं। इसलिए मनुष्य का व्यवस्था के पालन के द्वारा आजीवन धर्मी बने रहने कभी भी संभव नहीं है; शैतान और उसकी दुष्टात्माएँ उसे पाप में गिराते ही रहेंगे, दोषी और श्रापित बनाए ही रखेंगे, तथा उसे इस व्यर्थ और निष्फल प्रयास में उलझाए रख कर अन्ततः अपने साथ नरक में पहुँचा ही देंगे।

हम व्यवस्था की सीमाओं तथा अक्षमताओं के बारे में अगले लेख में और आगे देखेंगे।

यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। स्वेच्छा से अपने पापों के लिये पश्चाताप करके, प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु, मैं अपने पापों के लिए पश्चातापी हूँ, उनके लिए आप से क्षमा माँगता हूँ। मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मुझे और मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

Law’s Capabilities & Incapabilities (Part 3)

 

While considering the question of why the Law cannot save us, since the previous few articles, we have been looking at the limits of the Law from Romans 7. We have seen and understood two limitations of the Law from Romans 7:1, 5. The first was from verse 1 that the law asserts dominion. There is no kindness, compassion, understanding of the person's situation, etc., in the Law; it can only convict, condemn, and punish. The second limitation, from verse 5 was that desires arise in the flesh because of the Law, and Satan exploits them, uses them to tempt people to fulfill those desires, and makes people fall into sin. Today we'll look at another limitation of the Law from Romans 7; another aspect that renders it incapable of providing salvation.

A third and very important limitation is given in Romans 7:6, where it is written, "But now we have been delivered from the law, having died to what we were held by, so that we should serve in the newness of the Spirit and not in the oldness of the letter" (Romans 7:6). The disciples of the Lord Jesus, those who believe in Him and surrendered themselves to Him, i.e., Christian Believers, have been redeemed from observing the Law. Now the Law no longer applies to them, nor is it effective for them. They have now been set free from obeying the Law, from being righteous before God and being accepted by God through the Law. Further, in Romans itself, Paul writes, "For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes" (Romans 10:4). On the same topic, under the guidance of God's Holy Spirit, the apostle Paul wrote to the Christian congregation in Colossae about the work done by the Lord Jesus Christ for our salvation, and said, "And you, being dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He has made alive together with Him, having forgiven you all trespasses, having wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us, which was contrary to us. And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross. Having disarmed principalities and powers, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in it" (Colossians 2:13-15). So then, how can we be righteous and acceptable to God through obeying that, which God has fulfilled in the Lord Jesus Christ, and has taken away for us? Therefore, all efforts to be saved by obeying the Law are vain, and are doomed to failure.

Satan, from the time of the First Church itself, had begun his efforts to make obeying the Law as compulsory for the Christian Believers, to entangle them in his devious ploy of making them fall for being righteous by works, by obeying the Law, instead of by faith. On this topic, James, the brother of the Lord Jesus and an elder in the First Church, wrote in his letter, “For whoever shall keep the whole law, and yet stumble in one point, he is guilty of all” (James 2:10). In other words, the obeying of the Law can only be considered worthwhile if the person in his whole life, never even once, slips in obeying it, whether it be in his heart, mind, thoughts, or deeds, even inadvertently or unknowingly. If the person slips even once, then he becomes guilty of transgressing the whole Law, comes under condemnation, and his having obeyed the rest of the Law becomes vain.

 

When this topic was discussed in the First Church, then on the demand that the Law has to be followed, the Apostle Peter said, “Now therefore, why do you test God by putting a yoke on the neck of the disciples which neither our fathers nor we were able to bear?” (Acts 15:10; please read the whole of chapter 15 of Acts). The apostle Paul too, affirming this, had written to the Galatian Church, “For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse; for it is written, "Cursed is everyone who does not continue in all things which are written in the book of the law, to do them."” (Galatians 3:10). That is to say, those who desire to be saved not by the grace of the Lord, but by their works through obeying the Law should always keep this in mind that, if they make even one mistake, slip up even once, then they will go back into being cursed and condemned to hell.

We have seen in the earlier articles that Satan and his demons, being more powerful and wiser than humans, in their creation, therefore, they can easily make anyone fall into sin by enticing or beguiling him through their cunning words, tricks, and devious ploys. That is why it is impossible for man to remain sinless, holy and perfect throughout his life, by obeying the Law. Satan and his demons will keep making him fall into sin, will keep him condemned and guilty, keep him caught up in the vain and fruitless effort of obeying the Law, and eventually will take him with them into hell.
