    हमने पिछले लेख का समापन करते हुए यह कहा था कि हम आज के इस लेख में सच्चे पश्चाताप को दिखाने, उसे पहचानने के गुण को देखेंगे। जहाँ सच्चा मन-फिराव या पश्चाताप होगा, वहाँ उसके अनुरूप कुछ कार्य भी होंगे, एक बदला हुआ जीवन और उस से मेल खाता हुआ और बदला हुआ व्यवहार एवं रवैया भी होगा; जैसा कि यूहन्ना बपतिस्मा देने वाले ने फरीसियों को बपतिस्मा देने से मना करते हुए कहा था, “सो मन फिराव के योग्य फल लाओ” (मत्ती 3:8)। हम इसका एक उदाहरण पुराने नियम के एक धर्मी राजा योशिय्याह के जीवन से देखते हैं; कृपया अपनी बाइबल में 2 इतिहास को 34 अपने सामने खोलकर रखें, और इंगित पदों को पढ़ते रहें।

    योशिय्याह आठ वर्ष का बच्चा ही था जब उसे यहूदा का राजा बनाया गया (पद 1)। उसने अपने पूर्वज राजा दाऊद का अनुसरण करते हुए (पद 3), वह किया जो परमेश्वर की दृष्टि में ठीक था (पद 2)। उसने इस्राएलियों को उनकी सांसारिकता और मूर्तिपूजा से वापस परमेश्वर की ओर मोड़ने का प्रयास किया (पद 3-7), और मंदिर की भी, जो उस समय बहुत बुरे हाल में था, मरम्मत करवाई (पद 8)।

    इस मरम्मत के दौरान, महायाजक हिल्किय्याह को मूसा में होकर परमेश्वर के द्वारा दी गई व्यवस्था की पुस्तक मिली (पद 14); और हिल्किय्याह ने शापान शास्त्री के हाथों उस पुस्तक को राजा के पास भिजवाया। और शापान ने उसे हल्के में ही, राजा को ‘एक पुस्तक’ कह कर दे दिया। शापान का ध्यान मूसा में होकर परमेश्वर द्वारा दी गई व्यवस्था की पुस्तक के मिलने पर नहीं था, वह तो बस राजा द्वारा उन्हें सौंपे गए कार्य के बारे में रिपोर्ट देना चाह रहा था (पड़ 15-16)। ज़रा उस समय के इस्राएल के आत्मिक स्तर के गिरावट की कल्पना कीजिए। क्योंकि न तो महायाजक और न ही शास्त्री के पास परमेश्वर का वचन था, और न ही उन्हें पता था कि व्यवस्था की पुस्तक है कहाँ; यह पुस्तक तो उन्हें अनायास ही मिल गई थी, उन्होंने उसे उसके अपेक्षित स्थान से ढूंढ कर नहीं निकाला था। तात्पर्य यह कि वे न तो उसे पढ़ते थे, न उसका अध्ययन भी करते थे, और न ही उससे लोगों को कुछ सिखाते थे। और इसके अतिरिक्त, उन्होंने परमेश्वर के भवन को बुरे हाल में जा लेने दिया, जो दिखाता है कि वे उस भवन का प्रयोग भी नहीं कर रहे थे, उनके लिए उस भवन का कोई महत्व नहीं था। उन्होंने तो कभी उसकी मरम्मत करवाने का प्रयास भी नहीं किया; और अभी भी यह प्रयास उन्होंने नहीं वरन् राजा ने ही किया था।

    शापान के लिए भी, यद्यपि वह एक शास्त्री था, उस पुस्तक का कोई महत्व प्रतीत नहीं होता है; वह बड़ी साधारण रीति से कहता है कि उन्हें एक पुस्तक मिली है (पद 18)। क्योंकि उसके लिए उस पुस्तक का कोई महत्व नहीं था, इसलिए, उस पुस्तक के पढ़े जाने का उस पर कोई प्रभाव नहीं हुआ। किन्तु पढ़े जाने का भक्त राजा योशिय्याह पर भारी प्रभाव आया, और उसने पश्चाताप या मन-फिराव किया (पद 19)। परमेश्वर के वचन को सुनकर राजा योशिय्याह को दो बातों का एहसास हुआ; पहली यह कि उस की भक्ति के बावजूद, परमेश्वर के लोगों का अगुवा होने के नाते उस से जो अपेक्षाएं थीं, वह उन पर पूरा नहीं उतर रहा था, और इसीलिए वह तुरंत ही परमेश्वर के सामने पश्चाताप में आ गया। और दूसरी बात, उसके साथ सेवा करने वाले जो महायाजक और शास्त्री थे, उसे आत्मिक मार्गदर्शन देने के लिए उन पर भरोसा नहीं किया जा सकता था। इसलिए उसने उन्हें परमेश्वर की नबिया, हुल्दा के पास भेजा, कि परमेश्वर की इच्छा और क्या करना है, इसके लिए निर्देश पता कर सके (पद 22)।

    हुल्दा में होकर योशिय्याह को परमेश्वर के लोगों पर आने वाली विपत्ति का पता चलता है, क्योंकि वे लोग सांसारिकता और मूर्तिपूजा में चले गए थे (पद 23-25)। यह योशिय्याह का परमेश्वर के प्रति पश्चाताप और भक्ति का रवैया था, उसका व्यक्तिगत मन-फिराव था, उसका परमेश्वर के वचन से प्रेम करना उसे आदर देना था, जिसने उसे अपनी प्रजा, याजकों, लेवियों को परमेश्वर की ओर मोड़ा (पद 30-33)। ऐसा करने से न केवल वह यहूदा और यरूशलेम पर खड़ी हुई विपत्ति से बच सका, किन्तु उसके आने को अपनी मृत्यु के होने के बाद तक के लिए टाल सका (पद 27-28)।

    योशिय्याह के उदाहरण से हम देखते हैं कि सच्चा पश्चाताप या मन-फिराव, कार्यों में, व्यावहारिक रीति से परिवर्तित जीवन में दिखाई देता है, प्रमाणित होता है। व्यक्ति का अपना जीवन भी बदलता है, और वह दूसरों के जीवन में भी इस परिवर्तन को देखना चाहता है। पश्चातापी व्यक्ति के जीवन में परमेश्वर के वचन के प्रति प्रेम, आदर और उसका पालन करना दिखाई देता है।

    हम अगले लेख में भी पश्चाताप को समझने के बारे में बाइबल से देखना ज़ारी रखेंगे। 

    यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। स्वेच्छा से अपने पापों से पश्चाताप करें और प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु, मैं अपने पापों के लिए पश्चातापी हूँ, उनके लिए आप से क्षमा माँगता हूँ। मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मुझे और मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

Teachings Related to the Gospel – 4

 

    While concluding the previous article, we had said that in today’s article we will look at a characteristic of true, sincere repentance, by which we can recognize it. Wherever there is true repentance, there will also be some works in conformity with it, it will be evidenced by a changed life and a corresponding change in behavior and attitude; as John the Baptist said to the Pharisees while refusing to baptize them “Therefore bear fruits worthy of repentance” (Matthew 3:8). We see an example of this from the Old Testament, from the life of King Josiah, a devout king of Judah; please open your Bibles to 2 Chronicles 34, and read along the verses being pointed out.

    Josiah became King of Judah as an eight year old child (v.1). But he, by emulating his forefather, King David (v. 3) did what was right in the sight of the Lord (v.2). He strived to turn the Israelites back toward God from their idolatry and worldliness (vs.3-7), and repair the Temple of God that was in a very bad state (v.8).

    During the repairs, the High Priest, Hilkiah, found Moses’s  Book of the Law of the Lord (v.14); and Hilkiah sent the Book to the King through Shaphan the Scribe. And, Shapahan casually presented it to the King as ‘a book’ (v. 18). Shaphan’s main attention was not on finding Moses’s Book of God’s Law, but on reporting about the work given to them by the King (vs 15-16). Just imagine the state of spiritual decline the Israelites had fallen into. The High Priest and the Scribe, neither possessed, nor knew about the Book of the Law; they came across the book just by chance, they had not gone searching for it in its expected place. This implies they never read or learnt or taught from it. Moreover, they had allowed the Temple of God to go into a state of utter disrepair, implying its state of disuse. They had never tried to get it repaired, even now, not the religious leaders but it was the King, who wanted to get the Temple repaired.

    For Shaphan, though a Scribe, the Book of the Law does not seem to hold any importance; for him it is not ‘the Book’ but simply ‘a book’, who read it to the King (v.18). Because it held no importance for Shaphan, therefore, reading of God’s Word had no effect upon Shaphan; but in contrast it did affect the godly King Josiah, who repented (v.19). On hearing God’s Word Josiah realized two things; firstly, despite his godliness he still fell short of what was expected of him as a leader of God’s people, therefore he immediately came down in repentance before God. And secondly, that the High Priest and Scribe serving with him could not be relied upon to guide him properly about spiritual matters. So, he sent them to Huldah, the prophetess of God, to find out God’s will and instructions about what to do (v. 22).

    Through Huldah, King Josiah learns of the disaster looming over God’s people, because of their having fallen away into worldliness and idolatry (vs. 23-25). It was Josiah’s reverential attitude towards God, his personal repentance, his loving and honoring God’s Word, and then getting his people, priests, and Levites to turn to God (vs. 30-33), that not only saved him from the calamity that was impending upon Judah and Jerusalem but also postponed it till after his death (vs. 27-28).

    Through the example of Josiah, we see that true or sincere repentance is evidenced through works, practically, in a changed life. The life of the repenting person changes, and he wants to see this change in the lives of the others as well. The repentant person has a love, reverence, and obedience to God’s Word.

    If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord, make your decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now to ensure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Voluntarily repent of your sins and ask the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily and sincerely surrender yourself to Him - this is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life.  Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.

प्रत्येक कलीसिया या मण्डली के सभी विश्वासियों को कलीसिया और सहभागिता से सम्बन्धित इन तथ्यों पर भी विचार करना चाहिए, क्योंकि:

• कलीसिया का स्वामी परमेश्वर है, और कलीसिया परमेश्वर का निवास-स्थान है, प्रभु की देह और दुल्हन है;

• परमेश्वर ही व्यक्ति को कलीसिया का अंग बनाता है, और निर्णय करता है कि किसे कहाँ पर किस संगति में रखना है;

• कलीसिया के सभी सदस्य परमेश्वर द्वारा नियुक्त उसके भण्डारी हैं, ताकि उसने उन्हें जो ज़िम्मेदारियाँ दी हैं उन्हें पूरा करें;

• परमेश्वर की इच्छा के बिना कोई भी कलीसिया का अंग नहीं बन सकता है, और सदस्यता की इस प्रक्रिया में किसी भी मनुष्य की कोई भूमिका नहीं है;

• नया-जन्म पाए हुए सभी विश्वासी समान रूप से परमेश्वर की सन्तान हैं, समान रूप से परमेश्वर के परिवार के सदस्य हैं, किसी में भी परस्पर कोई भिन्नता नहीं है;

• परमेश्वर ने सभी का न्याय अपने ही हाथों में रखा है (रोमियों 12:19), और हमें यह निर्देश दिया है कि समय से पहले किसी का कोई न्याय न करें (1 कुरिन्थियों 4:5);

• परमेश्वर कभी भी अपने किसी भी विश्वासी को अपने परिवार और राज्य से निष्कासित नहीं करता है, और न ही आज तक किसी को किया है, चाहे उस विश्वासी का जीवन और व्यवहार कैसा भी क्यों न हो; उसके पापों के लिए विश्वासी की ताड़ना होती है, किन्तु वह निष्कासित नहीं किया जाता है;

• कोई भी विश्वासी दोष रहित नहीं है, सभी भिन्न-भिन्न प्रकार से पाप करते ही रहते हैं और उन्हें बारंबार क्षमा और बहाली के लिए परमेश्वर के सामने आते रहना ही पड़ता है (1 यूहन्ना 1:9); और कोई भी अपने आप से परमेश्वर के सामने खड़ा नहीं रह सकता है (भजन 130:3);

 

इसलिए,

• किसी भी व्यक्ति के पास, कलीसिया या मण्डली में उसकी अपनी सेवकाई, ओहदा, प्रतिष्ठा चाहे जो भी हो, परमेश्वर की इच्छा की अनदेखी कर के, अपनी ही इच्छा पूरी करने और करवाने का अधिकार नहीं है।

• किसी भी व्यक्ति के पास, कलीसिया या मण्डली में उसकी सेवकाई, ओहदा, प्रतिष्ठा चाहे जो भी हो, अपनी ही धारणाओं को, ऐसी धारणाएं जो उसकी अपनी बुद्धि और समझ की उपज हैं, किन्तु जो परमेश्वर के वचन में नहीं हैं, और न ही परमेश्वर के वचन के विशिष्ट उदाहरणों के द्वारा उनकी पुष्टि होती है, उन बातों को दूसरों पर थोपने, उनका प्रचार करने, उन्हें सिखाने का अधिकार अथवा अनुमति नहीं है।

• कोई भी व्यक्ति, किसी अन्य विश्वासी के साथ व्यक्तिगत मतभेदों और कलह के कारण, औरों को उस विश्वासी के साथ सहभागिता रखने से मना नहीं कर सकता है। बल्कि उसे स्वयं भी यह नहीं करना चाहिए। कोई भी किसी से यह कहने के द्वारा कि “या तो उसके साथ संगति रखो या हमारे साथ; यदि उसके साथ संगति रखते हो तो फिर हम से अलग रहो” किसी अन्य विश्वासी पर, परमेश्वर की अन्य सन्तानों पर, यह नहीं थोप सकता है कि, वे परमेश्वर की कलीसिया या सहभागिता में एक विभाजन या गुट में रहने का निर्णय लेने के लिए बाध्य हो जाएँ या ऐसे किसी निर्णय में सम्मिलित हो जाएँ।

• यह बात तब और भी महत्वपूर्ण हो जाती है जब वे मतभेद और कलह विश्वासियों के मध्य व्यक्तिगत कारणों से हों या मात्र व्यक्तिगत स्तर के हों। व्यक्ति इन मतभेदों और कलह के निवारण के लिए कलीसिया की सहायता ले सकता है; किन्तु क्या यह सही होगा कि वह उन के कारण कलीसिया के अन्य सदस्यों पर गुट या विभाजन के लिए ज़ोर दे या बाध्य करे? चाहे वे मतभेद और कलह कलीसिया के कार्य और संचालन से सम्बन्धित ही क्यों न हों, यदि उनका निवारण मत्ती 18:15-17 में प्रभु द्वारा स्थापित प्रक्रिया के अनुसार नहीं किया गया है, तो इस तरह से यह विभाजन कदापि किया या करवाया नहीं जा सकता है। जबकि, परमेश्वर का वचन सभी विश्वासियों को यही सिखाता है कि क्षमा और मेल-मिलाप में होकर काम करें और गलती करने वाले विश्वासी को संगति में लौटा ले आएँ (2 कुरिन्थियों 2:5-9; 2 थिस्सलुनीकियों 3:14-15)। तो फिर विभाजन की ये दीवारें खड़ी क्यों की जाएँ,  बना कर क्यों रखी जाएँ, और क्यों औरों को भी इन्हें बना कर रखने के लिए बाध्य किया जाए? क्यों किसी से कहा जा या तो इस विभाजन को स्वीकार करो अन्यथा पृथक हो जाओ?

• परमेश्वर ने कुछ विश्वासियों से अलग हटने या उन से बच कर रहने के लिए कुछ कारण दिए हैं (रोमियों 16:17; 1 कुरिन्थियों 5:11; 2 थिस्सलुनीकियों 3:6-15; 1 तीमुथियुस 6:3-5; 2 यूहन्ना 1:10)। किन्तु परमेश्वर द्वारा दिए गए इन कारणों के अतिरिक्त, किसी के पास भी यह अधिकार अथवा अनुमति नहीं है कि किसी विश्वासी को अलग कर देने के लिए वह अपने ही बनाए हुए नियम गढ़े और परमेश्वर की कलीसिया पर, परमेश्वर की सन्तानों पर उन्हें थोप दे। वरन्, रोमियों 16:17 तो यही कहता है कि कलीसिया में इस प्रकार से विभाजन करने वालों से दूर रहना है।

• क्या कोई भी व्यक्ति परमेश्वर से अधिक शुद्ध और पवित्र है, या हो सकता है? जब पाप की प्रवृत्ति रखने वाले विश्वासियों के साथ सहभागिता बनाए रखने से परमेश्वर की शुद्धता और पवित्रता पर कोई दाग़ नहीं आता है, वह बिगड़ती नहीं है, तो फिर पाप की प्रवृत्ति रखने वाले किसी व्यक्ति की, किसी अन्य पाप की प्रवृत्ति रखने वाले विश्वासी के साथ, जिससे वह सहमत नहीं है, सहभागिता रखने से उस व्यक्ति की शुद्धता और पवित्रता कैसे बिगड़ सकती है; उसके साथ सहभागिता में रहने को “समझौता करना” कैसे कहा जा सकता है? और फिर, अन्ततः तो हम सभी विश्वासी उसी एक ही स्वर्ग में उसी एक ही प्रभु के पास जाकर, एक साथ ही रहेंगे; तो फिर यह कार्य यहीं इसी पृथ्वी पर ही क्यों न आरम्भ कर लें? क्यों अपने ढीठ और बाइबल विरोधी आचरण के द्वारा अपनी तथा औरों की अनन्तकालीन आशीषों की हानि करें और करवाएं?

परमेश्वर को अपनी कलीसिया में, अपनी सन्तानों के मध्य मनुष्यों द्वारा खड़ी की गई बाधाएँ और दीवारें नहीं चाहिएं। बल्कि वह चाहता है कि लोग और कलीसियाएँ अलग करने वाली सभी दीवारों को गिरा दें, और एक दूसरे के साथ प्रेम और क्षमा की आत्मा के साथ मेल-मिलाप कर लें।

औरों को ज़ोर देकर प्रतिदिन सुसमाचार बाँटने, प्रेम से और मिल-जुल कर रहने, क्षमा करने, आदि के लिए कहना, जबकि स्वयं कलीसिया और परमेश्वर की सन्तानों के मध्य मतभेदों और विभाजनों को बनाए रखना, पनपने देना, परस्पर मेल-मिलाप नहीं होने देना, एक पाखण्ड करना है, दोगलापन है। जब हम परमेश्वर की सन्तानों से, हमें परमेश्वर द्वारा दिए गए परिवार के लोगों से प्रेम नहीं कर सकते हैं, तो हम सँसार के लोगों के साथ प्रेम करने का दावा कैसे कर सकते हैं (मत्ती 5:22-24; 1 यूहन्ना 4:20)? परमेश्वर की सन्तान होने के नाते यदि हम एक-दूसरे के साथ प्रेम और क्षमा नहीं दिखा सकते हैं, मेल-मिलाप नहीं कर सकते हैं, तो हम सच्चे मन से कैसे प्रेम, क्षमा, और मेल-मिलाप के सुसमाचार को औरों को प्रचार कर सकते हैं?

Excommunication From the Church – 7

 

    This is the concluding article on the role of Born-Again Christian Believers being God’s stewards of the Church and fellowship where God has placed them. To worthily fulfill their stewardship, they need to ensure the growth of the Church and spiritual progress of the fellow Believers. This article sums up the implications and applications of what we have learnt about this stewardship. It is meant to provoke the readers into seriously thinking about their role in the Church and becoming active about their responsibilities, instead of passively carrying on, as they have been so far. Church members, Believers, generally allow divisions and factions in the church to be created or maintained for the sake of pleasing men; they also let some people do whatever they want to in the Church. As steward of God, every Believer seriously needs to think over his membership and placement by God in a particular Church or Assembly, and the role he should be playing in that Fellowship.

All Believers in every Church or Assembly should ponder over the following facts pertaining to the Church, Since:

• The Church belongs to God, is meant to be His dwelling place, the Body and Bride of the Lord;

• It is God who joins a person to a Church, and decides whom to place where and in which fellowship;

• Members of the Church are only God appointed stewards, to carry out responsibilities assigned to them by Him;

• Without the will of God, no one can become a member of the Church, and no man has any role in their membership of God’s Church;

• All Born Again Christian Believers are equally the children of God, are equally the members of God's family, without any differentiation of any kind;

• God has kept all judgement to Himself (Romans 12:19), has instructed us not to judge anyone for anything before time (1 Corinthians 4:5);

• God has never cast any Believer away from His family or Kingdom, and never will, despite whatever the Believer’s life and behavior may be; the Believer is chastised for his sins but he is never cast away;

• No Believer is above reproach, all keep sinning in various ways all the time, and need to keep coming to God for forgiveness and restoration (1 John 1:8-10); on our own, none can stand before God, (Psalm 130:3);

 Therefore,

• No person in the Church of God, because of his own status and standing, has the authority to ignore or over-ride God’s will and do, not the will of God but his own will.

• No person, irrespective of his ministry, position, and standing in the Church, has the permission or authority to preach, teach, or impose his own notions upon others, notions that are based on his own wisdom and understanding, but are not in conformity with the teachings of God’s Word, cannot be specifically verified from God’s Word.

• No person, because of personal differences of opinions and disagreements with another Believer, can forbid others from having fellowship with that Believer. Rather, even he should not stop fellowshipping with them. No one can impose this upon others, compel the other children of God to take a divisive stand by stating "either fellowship with us or with them; if you are fellowshipping with ‘them’ then stay away from us." Doing this is creating factions and divisions in the Church or Assembly of God.

• This becomes all the more important when those differences amongst Believers are only personal and between individuals. A person can take the help of the Church to resolve those differences; but is it correct for anyone to impose divisions and factionalism upon the other members of the Church because of them? Even if the differences are related to the functioning and matters of the Church, if they have not been resolved in the manner instructed by the Lord in Matthew 18:15-17; then no one can impose this segregation. Moreover, God's Word teaches all Believers to forgive, be reconciled, and restore the errant Believer back into fellowship (2 Corinthians 2:5-9; 2 Thessalonians 3:14-15). Then why should the walls of divisions be put up and kept up, and why should others be compelled to either maintain those differences, or else get separated from the Assembly.

• God has given the criteria to separate from or avoid some Believers (Romans 16:17; 1 Corinthians 5:11; 2 Thessalonians 3:6-15; 1 Timothy 6:3-5; 2 John 1:10). But other than these God given criteria, no one has the right to or authority to create and impose their own contrived criteria and methods for segregation amongst Believers in God's Church, upon God's children. Rather, Romans 16:17 instructs the Believers to avoid those who cause divisions and factions in the Church.

• Is any man, or a group of men holier than God, purer than Him; or, can be? If God’s holiness and purity is not tarnished by fellowshipping with sinful Believers, then how can any sinful person’s holiness and purity get tarnished, be adversely affected by fellowshipping with some other similarly sinful Christian Believer, with whom they are not in agreement; how can fellowshipping with him be called “compromising”? In any case if we are all going to live together in the same heaven with the same Lord, then why not start doing it now and here on earth, instead of harming our blessings, and of others by our obstinate unBiblical behavior?

God does not want any man-made barriers and divisive walls amongst His children, in His Church. Rather, He wants to see people and churches break down all walls of separation, and be reconciled with each other in the spirit of love and forgiveness.

Emphatically exhorting others to share the Gospel daily, live with mutual love and harmony, forgive others, while simultaneously promoting or maintaining separation and differences in the Churches and amongst Church members, the children of God, and not allowing reconciliation to happen is hypocrisy. When we cannot love the children of God, the members of our God given family, how can we claim to love the children of the world (Matthew 5:22-24; 1 John 4:20)? Being the children of God, if we cannot live in love and forgiveness with each other, cannot be reconciled with each other, then how can we truthfully preach the Gospel of love, forgiveness, and reconciliation to others?

From the next article we will begin considering the Christian Believer’s stewardship of gifts of the Holy Spirit.

Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life.  Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.

पिछले लेखों में हमने देखा है कि यद्यपि रीति-रिवाजों और परंपराओं का पालन करना, या पर्व मनाना, या भेंट-बलिदान चढ़ाना परमेश्वर द्वारा मूसा में होकर इस्राएलियों को दी गई उसकी व्यवस्था में दिया गया है, किन्तु इनका मात्र रीति के अनुसार, औपचारिक निर्वाह वास्तव में व्यवस्था का पालन करना नहीं है। जैसा प्रभु यीशु मसीह ने कहा है, व्यवस्था परमेश्वर और मनुष्यों के साथ परमेश्वर द्वारा दिए गए निर्देशों के अनुसार संबंधों को बनाना और निभाना है। परमेश्वर के साथ सही संबंध में होने और बने रहने का अर्थ उससे सारे मन, ध्यान, विचार, और धन से प्रेम करना तथा उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित रहना और उसकी आज्ञाकारिता में रहना है, और साथ ही औरों से भी अपने ही समान प्रेम करना है (मत्ती 22:37-40)। जब परमेश्वर के साथ सम्बन्ध ठीक होगा, तो यह मनुष्यों के साथ भी सही सम्बन्ध बनाने और निभाने में भी प्रकट होगा। यही व्यवस्था का पालन है। प्रकट है कि इसमें किसी प्रकार की औपचारिकता का कोई स्थान नहीं है। 

औपचारिकता केवल वहीं होती है जहाँ व्यवस्था को रीति-रिवाजों और परंपराओं का पालन करना, या पर्व मनाना, या भेंट-बलिदान चढ़ाना मान लिया जाता है, और फिर निर्धारित समय पर निर्धारित विधि के अनुसार ये बातें पूरी कर दी जाती हैं, चाहे व्यक्ति की उन में कैसी और कितनी भी आस्था या श्रद्धा हो, या न हो। साथ ही हमने यह भी देखा और समझा था कि चाहे पुराने नियम के लोग हों अथवा नए नियम के, जिन्होंने भी परमेश्वर के साथ सही सम्बन्ध बनाए, वे सभी उसे स्वीकार्य हुए, उन सभी ने जीवन में प्रवेश किया, जैसा परमेश्वर ने अपने वचन में विभिन्न स्थानों पर आश्वस्त किया है कि व्यवस्था के पालन के द्वारा लोगों को जीवन में प्रवेश मिलेगा।

 

लेकिन व्यवस्था को उसके सही स्वरूप, अर्थात परमेश्वर और मनुष्यों के साथ सही सम्बन्धों को बनाने और निभाने के लिए परमेश्वर के निर्देशों को मानने के स्थान पर, यदि व्यक्ति व्यवस्था को रीति-रिवाजों और परंपराओं का पालन करना, या निर्धारित पर्व मनाना, या स्थापित भेंट-बलिदान चढ़ाना आदि मानकर, और इनका भी सही मनसा रखते हुए निर्वाह नहीं करता है, तो यह उसके लिए बेचैनी और अशान्ति का कारण बन जाता है। हम इस बात को परमेश्वर के वचन बाइबल के नए नियम भाग में से तीन उदाहरणों से देखते हैं; इनमें से एक उदाहरण हम आज के लेख में देखेंगे, और शेष दो को अगले लेख में।

अनन्त जीवन में प्रवेश करने की लालसा रखने वाले एक धनी जवान अधिकारी से हुई प्रभु की बातचीत (मत्ती 19:16-22) से दो बातें स्पष्ट हैं; पहली बात तो यह कि वह अभी भी अपने जीवन में कुछ कमी अनुभव कर रहा था, यद्यपि वह व्यक्ति, अपनी दृष्टि और मानकों के अनुसार, बचपन से ही व्यवस्था का पालन करता आ रहा था। किन्तु प्रभु से किया गया उसका प्रश्न, और प्रभु के उत्तर को दिया गया उसका प्रत्युत्तर दिखाते हैं कि अपने अन्दर वह जानता था कि उसके द्वारा किए गए “व्यवस्था पालन” ने उसे परमेश्वर को स्वीकार्य नहीं बनाया है, वह अभी भी अनन्त जीवन से दूर है। दूसरी बात, प्रभु द्वारा उसे दिए गए निर्देशों से यह प्रकट है कि उसका “व्यवस्था पालन” अधूरा था, और सही मनसा से नहीं था। ध्यान कीजिए, मत्ती 19:18-19 में प्रभु यीशु जिन आज्ञाओं के पालन की बात करता है, वे दस आज्ञाओं का भाग तो हैं, किन्तु इनमें पहली चार आज्ञाओं का, जो मनुष्यों के परमेश्वर के साथ संबंध के बारे में हैं, कोई उल्लेख नहीं है। और न ही उस व्यक्ति ने प्रभु से यह कहा कि वह न केवल प्रभु द्वारा कही जा रही छः आज्ञाओं का पालन करता आया है, वरन उन पहली चार आज्ञाओं का भी पालन करता आया है, जिनका उल्लेख प्रभु ने नहीं किया है। संकेत प्रकट है कि उस व्यक्ति के जीवन में इन पहली चार आज्ञाओं का उचित पालन था ही नहीं।

 

फिर इस वार्तालाप के अंत की ओर जब प्रभु उससे अपनी सारी संपत्ति बेचकर कंगालों में वितरित करने और प्रभु के पीछे हो लेने को कहता है, तब वह व्यक्ति यह नहीं कर सका (मत्ती 19:21-22)। अर्थात, वह न तो परमेश्वर से अपने सारे तन-मन-धन से प्रेम करता था और न ही मनुष्यों से प्रेम करता था। मनुष्यों से सम्बन्धों को सिखाने वाली आज्ञाओं के पालन के बावजूद, उस व्यक्ति में मनुष्यों के प्रति सच्चा प्रेम नहीं था। लेकिन उसके जीवन में सांसारिक लाभ और संपत्ति का लालच अवश्य था। जो दिखाता है कि वह संपूर्ण व्यवस्था का, सच्चे मन से, सही मनसा के साथ, पालन नहीं कर रहा था। इसी से प्रकट हो जाता है कि उसका “बचपन से आज्ञाओं को मानते चले आने” का दावा कितना खोखला था, एक औपचारिकता से अधिक कुछ नहीं था। अगले लेख में हम शेष दो उदाहरणों के बारे में देखेंगे।

Harmful Effects of Ritualistic Observation of the Law – 1

 

In the previous articles we have seen that although the observance of customs and traditions, or the celebration of festivals, or the offering of gifts and sacrifices were a part of God's Law given to the Israelites through Moses, but their merely ritualistic, formal observance is not actually observing the Law. As the Lord Jesus has said, observing the Law is the coming into and continuing in the right relationship with God and men, in the manner instructed by God. To be in, and to remain in the right relationship with God means to love Him with all your body, soul, and spirit, and your possessions as well; to be completely committed to Him, to be obedient to Him, and to love others as self as well (Matthew 22:37-40). When man’s relationship with God is right, it will also manifest in building and maintaining the right relationship with fellow human beings. This is what fulfilling the Law actually means. It is evident that there is no place for any kind of formal observances in this. 

Formal and ritualistic observances can only occur if the Law is assumed to be the observance of customs and traditions, or the celebration of a festival, or the offering of gifts and sacrifices. In that case, these things are carried out according to the prescribed procedure at the appointed time, regardless of the individual’s faith or belief in them, qualitatively or quantitatively. We have also seen and understood that whether it were the people of the Old Testament or of the New Testament, whoever came into a proper relationship with God in His prescribed manner, also became acceptable to Him, and they all entered life, just as God had assured that they would, at various places in His Word. That is to say that by fulfilling the Law people did get the entry into life, as is stated in God’s Word.

But if instead of accepting and obeying the Law, i.e., God's instructions to come into and maintain the right relationship with God and humans, in its right form, if one only observes it by perfunctorily fulfilling customs and traditions, or celebrating the prescribed festivals, or by offering the stated gifts and sacrifices, and does not maintain a right attitude even when doing that, then it leads to restlessness and a lack of peace in his life. We see this illustrated through three examples from the New Testament in God's Word, the Bible; of these three, we will look at one example today, and the other two in the next article.

Two things are clear from the Lord's conversation with the Rich Young Ruler who had come to the Lord seeking eternal life (Matthew 19:16-22). Firstly, although, according to his self-assessment and his own standards, he had been following the Law since his childhood, yet he still felt a serious lack of something in his life. His question to the Lord, and also his response to the Lord’s answer, show that he well knew within himself that his "keeping the Law" had not made him acceptable to God; he was still far from eternal life. Secondly, it is evident from the instructions given to him by the Lord that his "keeping the Law" was neither complete, nor done with the right attitude. Take note, the commandments that the Lord Jesus speaks of to him in Matthew 19:18-19, they are all a part of the Ten Commandments. But there is no mention here of the first four commandments, which are about man's relationship with God. Moreover, even he did not bother to inform the Lord that not only had he been following the six commandments that were stated by the Lord, but had also followed those first four commandments that the Lord had not mentioned. A clear indication that there was no proper observance of these first four commandments in that person's life. 

Then, towards the end of this conversation, when the Lord asks him to sell all his possessions, distribute his wealth to the poor, and follow the Lord, the man could not do it (Matthew 19:21-22). In other words, he neither loved God with all his body, mind and possessions, nor did he love men enough to care for them. Though he claimed to have obeyed the commandments that taught about relationships with fellow humans, the man did not have true love and concern for his fellow humans. But a compelling desire for worldly gains and wealth was definitely there in his life. All these things show that he was neither following the whole Law, nor whatever part he was following, was with sincerity, and the right attitude. This exposes the hollowness of his claim of "keeping the commandments from childhood"; and makes it evident that his claim was nothing more than living to fulfil a formality. In the next article we will consider the other two examples.

पिछले लेखों में हम देख चुके हैं कि केवल परमेश्वर ही भला है, और उसने अपनी भलाई (मरकुस 10:18), धार्मिकता, और पवित्रता के स्तर को अपने वचन, अपनी व्यवस्था के रूप में मनुष्यों के हाथों में उपलब्ध करवाया है (मत्ती 22:37-40)। परमेश्वर का वचन ही मसीही विश्वासी के लिए भले या भलाई को परिभाषित करता है और उसकी पहचान करवाता है। अपने आदि माता-पिता, आदम और हव्वा के प्रथम पाप के वंशागत प्रभाव के कारण, मनुष्य पाप की दशा में जन्म लेता है (भजन 51:5; रोमियों 5:12); इसी लिए जन्म से ही परमेश्वर तथा उसके वचन से दूर होता है, और अपने किसी भी प्रयास अथवा कार्य से अपने आप को पाप और उसके दुष्प्रभावों से छुड़ा पाने में असमर्थ है (यशायाह 64:6; रोमियों 3:10)। उसके पास परमेश्वर की व्यवस्था होते हुए भी, वह उस व्यवस्था का पालन कर पाने में असमर्थ है। किन्तु परमेश्वर ने, मनुष्य के पाप की दशा में होते हुए भी, उसके प्रति अपने प्रेम के कारण, प्रभु यीशु मसीह में होकर सारे संसार के सभी मनुष्यों के लिए वास्तव में भले हो सकने और परमेश्वर से मेल-मिलाप करने का मार्ग बनाकर उपलब्ध कर दिया है (यूहन्ना 3:16)। इसी मार्ग के अन्तर्गत, उस व्यवस्था को जिसका पालन मनुष्य कर पाने में असमर्थ था, उसे प्रभु यीशु ने पूरा करके मनुष्यों के सामने से हटा दिया है (इफिसियों 4:15; कुलुस्सियों 2:14)। पिछले लेख में हमने प्रेरितों 17:30 और रोमियों 2:16 के आधार पर यह देखना आरंभ किया था कि एक न एक दिन सभी मनुष्यों को अपने न्याय के लिए परमेश्वर के सामने खड़े होना है, किन्तु यदि वे अपने पापों से पश्चाताप करने और प्रभु यीशु को अपने उद्धारकर्ता स्वीकार करने के लिए तैयार हैं, तो परमेश्वर मनुष्यों की अज्ञानता के बीते समयों की आनाकानी करने के लिए भी तैयार है।

हम इस प्रश्न पर आकर रुके थे कि परमेश्वर यह आनाकानी करने के लिए तैयार क्यों है? जिन बातों से परमेश्वर घृणा करता है, उन्हें सह नहीं सकता है, परमेश्वर मनुष्यों द्वारा उन बातों के करने के लिए उसे दण्ड देने से आनाकानी करने के लिए क्यों तैयार है? क्योंकि परमेश्वर प्रेमी, धीरजवंत, सहनशील और विलंब से क्रोध करने वाला सच्चा और खरा है, न्यायी है। किन्तु वह अन्यायी और कठोर नहीं है, वह अनुचित दोष लगाया जाना कभी स्वीकार नहीं करता है, और न कभी अनुचित दण्ड देता है। वह भली-भांति जानता और समझता है कि क्यों व्यवस्था हाथों में होते हुए भी मनुष्य उसका पालन करने नहीं पाया; क्यों मनुष्य व्यवस्था के द्वारा भला, धर्मी, और पवित्र बनने नहीं पाया। इसके दो मुख्य कारण हैं; पहला यह कि मनुष्य व्यवस्था का पालन कर पाने में असमर्थ है; और दूसरा यह कि व्यवस्था दिए जाने का उद्देश्य मनुष्य को भला, धर्मी, और पवित्र बनाना कभी था ही नहीं। आज से हम इनमें से पहले कारण को देखेंगे, और फिर आगे के लेखों में मनुष्य के व्यवस्था का पालन करने के लिए असमर्थ होने के कारण को भी समझेंगे; और फिर उसके बाद व्यवस्था के उद्देश्य को भी समझेंगे। 

परमेश्वर ने आदम और हव्वा की सृष्टि करने के साथ मानव जाति का आरंभ किया। वो पाप में गिर गए और परमेश्वर से उनकी संगति एवं सहभागिता भंग हो गई। उनकी संतान भी इसी पाप की प्रवृत्ति के साथ जन्म लेती रही और पीढ़ी-दर-पीढ़ी, बद से बदतर होती चली गई। अंततः नूह के समय तक परमेश्वर उनके पाप से इतना परेशान हो गया कि उसने उनका नाश करना ठान लिया (उत्पत्ति 6:5-7), और नाश कर भी दिया; केवल नूह और उसका परिवार परमेश्वर की दृष्टि में बचाए जाने योग्य धर्मी ठहरे और परमेश्वर द्वारा ही बचाए भी गए। 

इससे भी मनुष्यों से शिक्षा नहीं ली, वरन शीघ्र ही फिर परमेश्वर से दूर हो गए, नूह और उसकी संतान की बाद की पीढ़ियाँ शैतान के भरमाने में आकर परमेश्वर के विमुख होकर चलने लगीं, फिर से बुराइयों और मूर्तिपूजा में चली गईं। 

तब परमेश्वर ने अन्य-जातियों, मूर्तिपूजकों में से अब्राहम को बुलाया (यहोशू 24:2-3), उससे वाचा बांधी, और उससे अपने लिए एक विशेष जाति बनाई, जिन्हें उसने अपने नियम और व्यवस्था दी; और परमेश्वर उस जाति की विशेष देखभाल करता रहा। किन्तु बाइबल में दिया गया उनका इतिहास गवाह है कि परमेश्वर के ये विशिष्ट लोग भी परमेश्वर के प्रति वफादार और आज्ञाकारी नहीं रहे; बारंबार पाप में गिरते रहे, परमेश्वर की ताड़ना सहकर कुछ समय के लिए सुधरते थे, फिर उसी दशा में चले जाते थे। और जब सब कुछ होने के बाद भी वे इस्राएली नहीं सुधरे और संभले, तो मलाकी के समय के बाद से परमेश्वर ने उनसे बात करना बंद कर दिया। फिर चार सौ वर्ष के बाद प्रभु यीशु ने ही आकर उनसे बात की। 

साथ ही, उसी समय के दौरान, अब्राहम के उन वंशजों, यहूदियों, के अतिरिक्त का शेष संसार भी अपनी बुराइयों, मूर्तिपूजा, भलाई और धार्मिकता के विषय अपनी ही कल्पनाओं की बातों में पड़ा रहा। लेकिन मनुष्यों के प्रति उसके बड़े प्रेम, धीरज और सहनशीलता के कारण परमेश्वर उन्हें भी सहन करता रहा, और अभी तक भी कर रहा है। हम बाइबल से इन अन्य-जाति लोगों के विषय में देखते हैं कि उनके परमेश्वर से बहुत दूर होने बावजूद, परमेश्वर:

• फिर भी उन्हें खाने पीने को देता रहा, पृथ्वी से उनका नाश नहीं किया (मत्ती 5:45)। 

• अति हो जाने पर उनके मध्य भी चेतावनी के लिए अपने नबी भेजता था, जैसे नीनवे के लिए योना को भेजा (योना 1:2; 4:11)। 

• उनके लिए अपने दरवाज़े बंद कभी नहीं किए; मिस्र से इस्राएलियों के साथ एक बहुत बड़ी मिली-जुली भीड़ भी निकल कर आई (निर्गमन 12:38), और यह भीड़ इस्राएलियों को बुराइयाँ करने के लिए उकसा कर (गिनती 11:4) परमेश्वर के विरुद्ध भड़काती भी रही। किन्तु परमेश्वर ने उन्हें भी प्रतिदिन स्वर्ग से अपना मन्ना दिया, चट्टान से पानी पीने को दिया, शत्रु के हमलों के समय इस्राएलियों के साथ ही उनकी भी रक्षा की, और उन्हें कभी किसी युद्ध में जाने के लिए नहीं कहा। एस्तेर के समय बहुत से लोग यहूदियों में मिल गए, उन्हें मना नहीं किया गया, और न ही उन्हें अलग रख कर उनके साथ कोई भिन्न व्यवहार किया गया (एस्तेर 8:17)।  

 

अगले लेख में हम देखेंगे कि कैसे परमेश्वर ने अन्य-जातियों पर भी अपने आप को प्रकट किया और उन्हें भी अपनी ओर आने के अवसर प्रदान किए।

यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। स्वेच्छा से अपने पापों से पश्चाताप करके, प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से, उसका शिष्य बनने के लिए, अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु, मैं अपने पापों के लिए पश्चातापी हूँ, उनके लिए आप से क्षमा माँगता हूँ। मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मुझे और मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

Why The Law Cannot Save Us – 1

Man’s Incapability - 1

In previous articles we've seen that God alone is good (Mark 10:18), and has made his standards of goodness, righteousness, and holiness available in the hands of men in the form of His Word, His Law (Matthew 22:37-40). It is the Word of God that defines and identifies what is good or goodness for the Christian. Because of the inherited effect of the original sin of his fore-parents, Adam and Eve, man is born in a state of sin (Psalm 51:5; Romans 5:12), therefore, from birth is separated from God and His Word, therefore, he is unable to redeem himself from his sin and its deleterious consequences through any of his efforts or actions (Isaiah 64:6; Romans 3:10). Even though he has God's Law, man is unable to fulfill that law. But God, because of his love for man, in spite of man's state of sin, has in the Lord Jesus Christ made available the way for all human beings to be truly good and to be reconciled to God (John 3:16). The Lord Jesus, for this way, has fulfilled the Law, which man was unable to obey, and has taken it away (Ephesians 2:15; Colossians 2:14). In the previous article, we began to see, from Acts 17:30 and Romans 2:16, that eventually all must stand before God for their judgment. But if they are willing to repent of their sins and are willing to accept Jesus as Savior, then God is also ready to ignore the past times of ignorance of man.

We had stopped at the question, why is God willing to overlook the times of ignorance of man? Since God can't bear evil, He hates it; then why is God willing to overlook punishing men for doing evil? It is because God is loving, patient, longsuffering, and slow to anger, true and upright. He is just; but he is neither unfair, nor cruel and harsh. He never accepts an unfair accusation, and he never inflicts undue punishment. He knows very well and well understands why man could not fulfill His Law, though it was in man’s hands; and why man could not become good, righteous, and holy by the Law. There are two main reasons for this; The first is that man is inherently incapable of obeying the law; And the second is, that the Law was never intended to make man good, righteous, and holy. Starting today we will look at the first of these two reasons, and then in subsequent articles, we will also understand man's inability to obey the law; And then after that we will also look into the purpose of the giving of the Law.

God started the human race by creating Adam and Eve. They fell into sin and lost their fellowship and companionship with God. Their children were also born with this tendency of sin and from generation to subsequent generation, they went from bad to worse. Eventually, by the time of Noah, God was so distraught by their sin that He decided to destroy them (Genesis 6:5-7), and did destroy them too; Only Noah and his family were found righteous in God's sight and were saved by God.

Men did not learn the lessons even from this, and soon turned away from God. The subsequent generations of Noah and his children once again succumbed to Satan's deceptions, and turned away from God, into evil and idolatry.

Then, God called Abraham from amongst the Gentiles, pagans (Joshua 24:2-3), made a covenant with him, and through him made a special nation for himself, to whom He gave his Word and the Law; And God continued to take special care of that nation. But their history, given in the Bible, bears witness that even these special people of God were not loyal and obedient to God. They repeatedly fell into sin, but under the chastisement of God, they would reform for some time, then would slip back into their same deplorable condition. And when the Israelites did not reform and recover despite God’s every effort, God stopped talking to them from the time of Malachi. Then after four hundred years the Lord Jesus came and spoke to them.

Also, during this time, people other than those of Abraham's descendants, the Jews, i.e., the rest of the people of the world, they too got entangled in their own fantasies, in all sorts of evils and idolatry, in their false concepts according to their imaginations regarding goodness, and righteousness. But because of His great love, patience, and long-suffering toward humans, God continued to endure them as well, and still continues to do so. We see from the Bible, regarding the Gentiles that despite their being far from God:

• He kept giving them food and drink, not destroying them from the earth (Matthew 5:45).

• When their evil was too much, He also sent his prophets to warn among them, as Jonah was sent to Nineveh (Jonah 1:2; 4:11).

• He has never closed His doors upon them; e.g., A great mixed multitude also came out of Egypt with the Israelites (Exodus 12:38), and this mixed multitude continued to incite the Israelites to do evil (Numbers 11:4) against God. But God still gave them His manna from heaven every day, gave them water from the Rock to drink, protected them as well as the Israelites during enemy attacks, and never asked them to go to war. At Esther's time many people became Jews, they were not forbidden, nor were they isolated and treated differently (Esther 8:17).

 

In the next article we will see how God made Himself evident to even the Gentiles and gave them also the opportunities to come to Him.

If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord, make your decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now to ensure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. By voluntarily repenting of your sins, asking the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, and then voluntarily and sincerely, surrendering yourself to Him to become His disciple - is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life.  Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.
