मसीही जीवन और सेवकाई से संबंधित बातों के अध्ययन की इस ज़ारी शृंखला में हम मसीही विश्वास, मसीही जीवन, और मसीही सेवकाई में परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा की भूमिका के बारे में देख चुके हैं। पिछले कुछ लेखों में हम परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा और उनके कार्यों से संबंधित सामान्यतः सिखाई और प्रचार की जाने वाली गलत शिक्षाओं के बारे में देख रहे थे, कि बाइबल की वास्तविक शिक्षाएं क्या हैं, और इन्हें गलत रूप और अर्थ के साथ बताने सिखाने वालों की गलतियों को कैसे पहचाना जाए, और उनसे बच कर रहा जाए। आज से हम एक और संबंधित बात के बारे में अध्ययन करना आरंभ करेंगे - जो मसीही सेवकाई और जीवन के लिए भी आवश्यक है, और जिसकी गलत समझ के कारण परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा से संबंधित गलत शिक्षाएं बताने और फैलाने वाले इसके विषय भी बहुत से गलत धारणाएं तथा शिक्षाएं बताते, सिखाते, और फैलाते रहते हैं। और इसलिए इनके विषय भी परमेश्वर के वचन की वास्तविकता को जानना एवं समझना अनिवार्य है ताकि गलतियों और व्यर्थ बातों से बचा जा सके, वचन की सच्चाइयों के साथ चला जा सके।

 

हमारे प्रभु परमेश्वर का एक बहुत बड़ा गुण है कि वह सदा अपनी सृष्टि के संचालन और प्रबंधन में सक्रिय रहता है, उसकी देखभाल में और संबंधित कार्यों में जुटा रहता है। प्रभु यीशु ने कहा, “इस पर यीशु ने उन से कहा, कि मेरा पिता अब तक काम करता है, और मैं भी काम करता हूं” (यूहन्ना 5:17)। आज भी हमारा परमेश्वर पिता और हमारा उद्धारकर्ता परमेश्वर पुत्र हमारे लिए कार्य कर रहे हैं; और परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा हम में होकर संसार में कार्य कर रहा है। हमारा परमेश्वर पिता हम पर अपनी दृष्टि लगाए रखता है (2 इतिहास 16:9), अपनी आँख की पुतली के समान हमारी रखवाली करता है (व्यवस्थाविवरण 32:10; ज़कर्याह 2:8), हमारे मन और विचार की बातों को देखता और जाँचता रहता है (1 इतिहास 28:9), हमारी प्रार्थनाओं को सुनता और अपनी योजनाओं के अनुसार उनका उचित उत्तर देने के लिए कार्य करता है (भजन 143:1; 1 यूहन्ना 5:14-15), इत्यादि। हमारा उद्धारकर्ता परमेश्वर पुत्र, प्रभु यीशु पिता के सामने हमारा सहायक है (1 यूहन्ना 2:1), हमारे लिए विनती और प्रार्थना करता है (यूहन्ना 17:9, 11, 15; रोमियों 8:34), शैतान के दोषारोपण से हमें बचाए रखता है (प्रकाशितवाक्य 12:10), हमारे लिए स्थान तैयार कर रहा है, हमें लेने आने की तैयारी में लगा है (यूहन्ना 14:3), इत्यादि। कार्यशील रहना न केवल परमेश्वर का एक गुण है, वरन उसने मनुष्य में जिसे उसने अपने स्वरूप में बनाया है, उसमें भी अपने समान कार्यशील होने का गुण डाला है। सृष्टि के आरंभ से ही कार्यशील रहने से संबंधित परमेश्वर के इस सिद्धांत को हम लागू देखते हैं। परमेश्वर ने आदम के लिए अच्छे फलों के वृक्षों की अदन की वाटिका लगा कर दी, किन्तु उस वाटिका की देखभाल करने की ज़िम्मेदारी परमेश्वर ने आदम को सौंपी (उत्पत्ति 2:8, 9, 15)। यद्यपि आदम अकेला था, किन्तु परमेश्वर ने उसे निठल्ला नहीं रहने दिया, उसे वाटिका में काम पर लगाया। इसी सिद्धांत के अनुसार, पवित्र आत्मा की अगुवाई में प्रेरित पौलुस ने लिखा, “और जब हम तुम्हारे यहां थे, तब भी यह आज्ञा तुम्हें देते थे, कि यदि कोई काम करना न चाहे, तो खाने भी न पाए। हम सुनते हैं, कि कितने लोग तुम्हारे बीच में अनुचित चाल चलते हैं; और कुछ काम नहीं करते, पर औरों के काम में हाथ डाला करते हैं। ऐसों को हम प्रभु यीशु मसीह में आज्ञा देते और समझाते हैं, कि चुपचाप काम कर के अपनी ही रोटी खाया करें” (2 थिस्स्लुनीकियों 3:10-12)।

और कार्यशील रहने से संबंधित यही सिद्धांत उद्धार पाने के बाद के मसीही जीवन एवं सेवकाई पर भी इसी प्रकार से लागू है “और जैसी हम ने तुम्हें आज्ञा दी, वैसे ही चुपचाप रहने और अपना अपना काम काज करने, और अपने अपने हाथों से कमाने का प्रयत्न करो” (1 थिस्स्लुनीकियों 4:11)। परमेश्वर ने उद्धार पाए हुए अपने लोगों के लिए पहले से ही कार्य निर्धारित करके तैयार रखे हुए हैं, “क्योंकि हम उसके बनाए हुए हैं; और मसीह यीशु में उन भले कामों के लिये सृजे गए जिन्हें परमेश्वर ने पहिले से हमारे करने के लिये तैयार किया” (इफिसियों 2:10)। और जब परमेश्वर ने ज़िम्मेदारी दी है, तो फिर हम सभी से उस ज़िम्मेदारी के निर्वाह का हिसाब भी लेगा तथा हमारे कार्यों के अनुसार हमें प्रतिफल भी देगा (मत्ती 16:27; 1 कुरिन्थियों 3:13-15; 4:5; 2 कुरिन्थियों 5:10; 1 पतरस 4:17)। जो काम परमेश्वर ने हमारे लिए निर्धारित किए हैं, हम उन्हें ठीक से करने पाएं, इसके लिए परमेश्वर ने हमारे लिए उपाय भी किया है - हम मसीही विश्वासियों में निवास करने वाला पवित्र आत्मा हमारा मार्गदर्शन और सहायता करता है; और साथ ही परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा ने प्रत्येक मसीही विश्वासी की सेवकाई के अनुसार उसे उपयुक्त वरदान भी दिए हैं, जिनकी सहायता से हम अपनी इस ज़िम्मेदारी को पूरा कर सकें (1 कुरिन्थियों 7:7; 12:11), ठीक से निभा सकें, और इस से परमेश्वर की महिमा हो सके (1 पतरस 4:10-11)। साथ ही इन आत्मिक वरदानों से संबंधित कुछ बातें भी हैं, जिनके अनुसार इनका प्रयोग किया जाना है। आगे हम इन बातों और वरदानों के बारे में कुछ और विस्तार से देखेंगे।

 

यदि आप एक मसीही विश्वासी हैं तो क्या आपको यह पता है कि परमेश्वर ने आपके लिए कौन से भले कार्य निर्धारित करके रखे हुए हैं? और क्या आप उन कार्यों को उसकी इच्छा के अनुसार पूरा कर रहे हैं? कहीं आप अपनी ही इच्छा और सुविधा के अनुसार प्रभु यीशु के नाम में कुछ भी करने के द्वारा यह तो नहीं समझ रहे हैं कि आप ने परमेश्वर के प्रति अपनी ज़िम्मेदारी का सही निर्वाह कर लिया है? यदि आपको अभी भी उस कार्य का पता नहीं है जो परमेश्वर ने आपके लिए नियुक्त किया है, तो आपको प्रार्थना में परमेश्वर के सम्मुख इस बात को रखना चाहिए और उससे अपनी उस सेवकाई की पहचान माँगनी चाहिए, जो वह चाहता है कि आप उसके लिए करें। आपकी आशीष और प्रतिफल उसी सेवकाई के निर्वाह से है, अन्य कुछ करने से नहीं।

 

यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

English Translation

Christian Living - Active and Working

In this on-going series about Christian Life, Living, and Ministry, in the previous articles we have seen the role of God the Holy Spirit in Christian Faith, Life, and Ministry. In the preceding articles we had been considering and evaluating from God’s Word the Bible, the false teachings and wrong doctrines that are being commonly taught these days about the Holy Spirit and His works. In this context we had seen what are the actual teachings of the Bible, and how to identify the wrong meanings and implications ascribed to these Biblical teachings, to be able to avoid the false and wrong and stay safe from them. From today we will start studying another related topic, which is very important for Christian Living and Ministry, and which is also the subject of many misinterpretations, misunderstandings, and wrong teachings; since those who preach and teach wrong doctrines about the Holy Spirit, have also formed and spread many wrong teachings and notions about this topic as well. Hence, it is essential to know and learn the truths of God’s Word about this topic, stay safe from errors and false doctrines, and only go by the truths of God’s Word.

One of the great characteristics of our Lord God is that He is always actively involved in taking care of His creation, always at work in managing and running it. The Lord Jesus said, “My Father has been working until now, and I have been working” (John 5:17). Even today our Father God and our Savior God the Son are at work for us; and, God the Holy Spirit is working through us in this world. Our Father God always keeps His eyes on us (2 Chronicles 16:9), protects us as the apple of His eyes (Deuteronomy 32:10; Zechariah 2:8), looks at and evaluates the thoughts arising in our heart (1 Chronicles 28:9), listens to our prayers and answers them in accordance with His plans related to them (Psalms 143:1; 1 John 5:14-15), etc. Our savior Lord, God the Son, is our advocate before God the Father (1 John 2:1). He prays and intercedes for us (John 17:9, 11, 15; Romans 8:34), and delivers us from the accusations of the devil (Revelation 12:10), He is preparing a place for us and preparing to come and take us to be with Him for eternity (John 14:3), etc. Being active and working is not only an attribute of God, but He has also placed this in man whom He created in His likeness. From the very beginning of creation, we see this principle of being active and working being in force. God made a garden of good fruit bearing plants, the Garden of Eden, for Adam; but gave the task and responsibility of tending that garden, looking after and maintaining it to Adam (Genesis 2:8, 9, 15). Although Adam was alone at that time, but God did not let him be lazy and inactive, but put him to work in the Garden. In accordance with this principle, under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, the apostle Paul wrote, “For even when we were with you, we commanded you this: If anyone will not work, neither shall he eat. For we hear that there are some who walk among you in a disorderly manner, not working at all, but are busybodies. Now those who are such we command and exhort through our Lord Jesus Christ that they work in quietness and eat their own bread” (2 Thessalonians 3:10-12).

This principle of being active and working is in force upon the Christian Believers after their being saved, “that you also aspire to lead a quiet life, to mind your own business, and to work with your own hands, as we commanded you” (1 Thessalonians 4:11). God has already determined works to be done by His people, the Born-Again Christian Believers, “For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them” (Ephesians 2:10). When God has given a responsibility, then He will also take an account from each one of us about how we have fulfilled it and reward us accordingly (Matthew 16:27; 1 Corinthians 3:13-15; 4:5; 2 Corinthians 5:10; 1 Peter 4:17). So that we are able to do our God assigned works and responsibilities well enough, God has also made provisions for our help - God the Holy Spirit residing in every truly Born-Again Christian Believer from the moment of his salvation, guides and helps us. The Holy Spirit also gives to every Christian Believer appropriate gifts (1 Corinthians 7:7; 12:11), through which we can not only fulfill our responsibility, but do it well and glorify God through it (1 Peter 4:10-11). There are some important things related to these spiritual gifts, and these gifts have to be used keeping those things in mind. We will look into these things and the spiritual gifts in the coming articles.

If you are a Christian Believer, then are you aware of the ‘good works’ God has kept for you, assigned to you? Are you actively involved in doing those works in accordance with God’s will? Or, is it that by doing anything according to your fancy in the name of the Lord Jesus, you are assuming that you have appropriately fulfilled your responsibility towards the Lord God? If you are as yet unaware of the work that God wants you to do for Him, then you should put this in prayer before God, and ask Him to help you identify and understand the work He wants you to do for Him. Your blessings and rewards are only according to your fulfilling your God assigned responsibility, not through anything else you may assume and do.

If you are still thinking of yourself as being a Christian, a child of God, entitled to a place in heaven, because of being born in a particular family and having fulfilled the religious rites and rituals prescribed under your religion or denomination since your childhood, then you too need to come out of your misunderstanding of Biblical facts and start learning, understanding, and living according to what the Word of God says, instead of what any denominational creed says or teaches. Make the necessary corrections in your life now while you have the time and opportunity; lest by the time you realize your mistake, it is too late to do anything about it.

If you are still not Born Again, have not obtained salvation, or have not asked the Lord Jesus for forgiveness for your sins, then you have the opportunity to do so right now. A short prayer said voluntarily with a sincere heart, with heartfelt repentance for your sins, and a fully submissive attitude, “Lord Jesus, I confess that I have disobeyed You, and have knowingly or unknowingly, in mind, in thought, in attitude, and in deeds, committed sins. I believe that you have fully borne the punishment of my sins by your sacrifice on the cross, and have paid the full price of those sins for all eternity. Please forgive my sins, change my heart and mind towards you, and make me your disciple, take me with you." God longs for your company and wants to see you blessed, but to make this possible, is your personal decision. Will you not say this prayer now, while you have the time and opportunity to do so - the decision is yours.

बप्तिस्मा समझना - (9) – पवित्र आत्मा का बप्तिस्मा के निहितार्थ (ज़ारी)

 

कल के लेख में हमने परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा के विषय फैलाई जा रही गलत शिक्षाओं के मसीही विश्वासी के जीवन और उसकी सेवकाई पर आने वाले दुष्प्रभावों के निहितार्थों और घातक परिणामों के पहले भाग को देखा था। यदि कुछ गंभीरता और ध्यान से “पवित्र आत्मा का बप्तिस्मा” और इससे संबंधित  धारणाओं पर विचार किया जाए तो यह प्रकट हो जाता है कि ऐसी शिक्षाएं एक शैतानी चाल हैं, लोगों को सच्चाई से भटकाने और वचन को ऐसे तोड़-मरोड़ कर सिखाने के लिए, जिससे अनजाने में और नासमझी में होकर (यशायाह 5:13; होशे 4:6) मनुष्य परमेश्वर से भी बढ़कर बनने का प्रयास करने लगे - वही कार्य जिसे करने के कारण लूसिफर को स्वर्ग से गिरा दिया गया और वह शैतान बन गया। इन गलत शिक्षाओं के द्वारा शैतान बारंबार एक प्रतीत होने वाली भक्ति और धार्मिकता का आवरण डालकर, यह दिखाने और सिखाने का प्रयास करता है कि मनुष्य अपने प्रयास से परमेश्वर को नियंत्रित तथा संचालित कर सकता है; परमेश्वर को अपने हाथ की कठपुतली बना सकता है। यह धारणा संसार के कई अन्य धर्मों में देखी और सिखाई जाती है, कि मनुष्य अपनी धार्मिकता और तपस्या के द्वारा अपने देवी-देवताओं को बाध्य कर सकताहै कि वे उसे कुछ ऐसी शक्तियां और योग्यताएँ प्रदान करें फिर जिन का दुरुपयोग वह अपने स्वार्थ और लाभ के लिए करने लगता है। यदि इन गलत शिक्षाओं के सिखाने और फैलाने वालों की प्रार्थनाओं, जीवनों, और कार्यों को देखें, जैसा हम पहले कर चुके हैं, तो इनमें भी हम यही पाते हैं कि वे पवित्र-आत्मा की सामर्थ्य और उसके वरदानों के द्वारा सांसारिक और भौतिक लाभ तथा शारीरिक चंगाइयों पर ही अधिक केन्द्रित रहते हैं। पापों के लिए पश्चाताप, उद्धार, परमेश्वर और उसके वचन की आज्ञाकारिता में चलना, आदि बातें उनके प्रचार और शिक्षाओं का केंद्र नहीं होती हैं; ये बातें और इन पर जोर देना या तो उनके शिक्षा और प्रचार में बहुत कम देखी जाती हैं, अथवा होती ही नहीं हैं। वरन वे परमेश्वर के नाम पर सांसारिक सुख-समृद्धि और भौतिक आशीषों में अधिक रूचि रखते हैं - जो कि अपने प्रयासों और कार्यों के द्वारा देवी-देवताओं को बाध्य और नियंत्रित कर पाना और फिर उनसे सांसारिक तथा भौतिक लाभ प्राप्त करने की शक्तियां पा लेने के बाद उन्हें स्वार्थ के लिए उपयोग करने के समान है।

 इस शृंखला के निष्कर्ष पर पहुँचने पर आज हम इन गलत शिक्षाओं में शैतान द्वारा छिपाए गए कुछ और निहितार्थों को देखेंगे:

• ऊपर हम देख चुके हैं, कि यद्यपि यह स्पष्ट लिखा हुआ है कि पवित्र आत्मा पाना और पवित्र आत्मा से बपतिस्मा एक ही बात को कहने के दो भिन्न तरीके हैं, फिर भी इन गलत शिक्षाओं को सिखाने और फैलाने वाले, ‘से’ के स्थान पर ‘का’ लगाकर यही सिखाने और दिखाने का प्रयास करते हैं कि यह एक अलग बात है, जो मनुष्य के अपने प्रयासों के द्वारा संभव है; इसलिए सेवकाई में लगे मसीही विश्वासियों को अवश्य ही इसके लिए प्रयास और प्रार्थना करनी चाहिए। यह न केवल उनका ध्यान और समय उनकी सेवकाई से हटाकर व्यर्थ बात में फंसाना और उन्हें प्रभु के लिए उपयोगी होने से बाधित करना, उनकी सेवकाई और प्रभु के लिए उनकी उपयोगिता में व्यर्थ का विलंब करवाना है; वरन उनके मनों में यह बात डालना भी है कि वे परमेश्वर को बाध्य कर सकते हैं कि वह उनके लिए उनकी इच्छा के अनुसार करे। 

• यदि यह कहा जाए कि पवित्र आत्मा का बपतिस्मा विश्वासी के अंदर उद्धार पाते ही आकर बस जाने वाले पवित्र आत्मा को प्राप्त करना नहीं अपितु उसे सक्रिय (activate) कर देना है; तो इसका अभिप्राय हो जाता है कि परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा, जो पश्चाताप और प्रभु में विश्वास करने के साथ ही विश्वासी को परमेश्वर की ओर से दे दिया गया, वह आकर विश्वासी के अंदर शांत और निष्क्रिय बैठा हुआ होता है, और तब तक इस स्थिति में रहेगा, जब तक कि विश्वासी उसे जागृत कर के सक्रिय और कार्यकारी न कर दे। अर्थात कार्य करवाने वाला परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा नहीं, वरन उसे नियंत्रित करने वाला मनुष्य है, जिसमें पवित्र आत्मा विद्यमान है। जबकि ऐसी कोई शिक्षा पवित्र आत्मा के बारे में प्रभु यीशु ने न तो यूहन्ना 14 और 16 अध्यायों में, न ही पत्रियाँ लिखने वाले प्रेरितों और शिष्यों ने किसी अन्य स्थान पर कभी भी, कहीं पर भी दी; न ही बाइबल में किसी अन्य स्थान पर ऐसी कोई बात कही गई है। यह केवल शैतान के बहकावे में आकर मनुष्य द्वारा परमेश्वर पर हावी होने का एक शैतानी प्रयास है, बाइबल के पूर्णतः विरुद्ध शिक्षा है। इस संदर्भ में यह एक रोचक बात है कि कुछ अन्यजाति धर्मों में यह धारणा पाई जाती है कि मानव-शरीर में कुछ अद्भुत अति शक्तिशाली शक्ति हैं जिन्हें मनुष्य अपने प्रयास और विधियों से जागृत कर सकता है और उपयोग कर सकता है। 

• यदि यह कहा जाए कि पवित्र आत्मा मिलता तो सभी विश्वासियों को है, किन्तु कुछ ऐसे भी होते हैं जिन्हें उनकी सेवकाई के लिए कुछ अधिक सामर्थ्य की आवश्यकता होती है, इसलिए उन्हें एक और अनुभव, पवित्र आत्मा का बपतिस्मा प्राप्त करने की आवश्यकता होती है, तो यह भी वचन की किसी भी शिक्षा के साथ मेल नहीं खाता है। भक्ति और धार्मिकता के नाम पर यह मसीही विश्वासियों में भिन्नता और मतभेद उत्पन्न करने का प्रयास है; उन्हें घमंड में गिराने का तरीका है। यदि इसे स्वीकार किया जाता है तो, इस विचारधारा के परिणाम समझना कुछ कठिन नहीं है:

• यह मसीही विश्वासियों को विभाजित करती है - पवित्र आत्मा का बपतिस्मा पाए हुए और न पाए हुए में बाँट देती है। वचन स्पष्ट दिखाता है कि जब भी किसी भी आधार पर लोगों ने अपने आप को भिन्न देखने या दिखाने का प्रयास किया है, तो कलीसिया में परेशानियाँ ही आई हैं, फूट ही पड़ी है, कभी कोई उन्नति नहीं हुई - (i) प्रभु यीशु मसीह के स्थान पर अगुवों के नाम और अनुसरण पर विभाजन के कारण कुरिन्थुस की मंडली में फूट पड़ी (1 कुरिन्थियों 1:11-13)। (ii) इब्रानी और यूनानी विश्वासी कहलाए जाने से फूट और बैर आया, जिसका बुरा प्रभाव प्रेरितों के प्रार्थना और वचन की सेवा पर पड़ने लगा (प्रेरितों 6:1-4)। (iii) यहूदी और गैर-यहूदी मसीही विश्वासियों के मध्य खींच-तान और अलगाव से सभी प्रेरितों और पौलुस को भी जूझते ही रहना पड़ा (प्रेरितों 15:1-2, 5, 10-11; इफिसियों 2:17-22)। यह बात विभाजित करने और दोगलेपन के जीवन में गिरा देने के लिए इतनी सामर्थी थी कि पतरस और बरनबास जैसे प्रेरित और अगुवे भी इसमें गिर गए (गलातियों 2:11-13)। यही स्थिति, इस प्रकार बपतिस्मा पाए और न पाए हुओं के मध्य उत्पन्न होकर प्रभु के लोगों में और उसकी कलीसिया में फूट और मतभेद उत्पन्न करती है। 

• जो अपने आप को अलग से पवित्र आत्मा का बपतिस्मा पाए हुए समझते हैं, वे अपने आप को अन्य विश्वासियों से कुछ उच्च श्रेणी का समझने लगते हैं; घमंड में आ जाते हैं, जो उनकी मसीही सेवकाई, तथा संसार में मसीही गवाही और कलीसिया के काम के लिए घातक है, क्योंकि परमेश्वर मनुष्य के घमंड के साथ नहीं निभा सकता है, उसके साथ कोई समझौता नहीं कर सकता है। इसके विपरीत जिन्होंने यह तथाकथित बपतिस्मा नहीं पाया है, और बहुत प्रयास करने के बाद भी उन्हें यह अनुभव नहीं मिला है, और क्योंकि ऐसा कुछ है ही नहीं इसलिए कभी मिलेगा भी नहीं, उनमें निराशा और हीन भावना आने लगती है, और वे अपनी सेवकाई में कमज़ोर पड़ने लगते हैं। दोनों ही स्थितियों में हानि प्रभु के लोगों और उनकी सेवकाई तथा परमेश्वर के सुसमाचार के प्रचार और प्रसार ही की होती है, और लाभ शैतान को मिलता है। 

• इस विचारधारा से यह गलत और बाइबल के प्रतिकूल समझ भी फैलती है कि अलग सेवकाइयों के लिए अलग वरदानों ही की नहीं वरन अलग अतिरिक्त सामर्थ्य की भी आवश्यकता होती है; जिसका अभिप्राय यह निकलता है कि कुछ सेवकाई प्रमुख हैं, जिनके लिए विशेष सामर्थ्य की आवश्यकता होती है, और शेष हलकी या गौण हैं, जिनके लिए किसी विशेष सामर्थ्य की आवश्यकता नहीं है। यह फिर से मसीही सेवकों में दरार और ऊँच-नीच की भावना को जन्म देता है। यह सेवकाई के लिए दिए जाने वाले पवित्र आत्मा के वरदानों की शिक्षा के बिल्कुल विरुद्ध है। वरदान कोई भी हो, सब मिलकर एक ही देह, उसकी कलीसिया की सेवा और पोषण तथा उन्नति के लिए हैं, कोई बड़ा या छोटा, अथवा महत्वपूर्ण या गौण नहीं है, सभी समान स्तर, महत्त्व, एवं उपयोगिता के हैं (रोमियों 12:3-5)। परमेश्वर प्रत्येक को उसे सौंपी गई सेवकाई के आधार पर प्रतिफल देगा, न कि वरदानों के अधिक अथवा कम महत्वपूर्ण होने की धारणा के अनुसार (मत्ती 20:9-15)। पवित्र आत्मा की समान सामर्थ्य, उसकी आज्ञाकारिता में कार्य करने के द्वारा, सभी की सेवकाई के लिए समान रीति से उपलब्ध है।

परमेश्वर ने हम मसीही विश्वासियों को अपनी पवित्र आत्मा के द्वारा, हमारे उद्धार पाने के साथ ही मसीही जीवन एवं सेवकाई के लिए आवश्यक सामर्थ्य तथा अपने वचन के द्वारा उपयुक्त मार्गदर्शन दे रखा है; अब यह हम पर है कि हम उसका सदुपयोग करें और प्रभु के योग्य गवाह बनें।

यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

Understanding Baptism - (9) – Implications of Baptism OF the Holy Spirit (Continued)

of the Holy Spirit”, and their effects on the life and ministry of a Christian Believer. If we ponder over this notion with some seriousness, it becomes evident that these teachings and doctrines are a satanic conspiracy to deviate people away from the truth and to teach a distorted version of God’s Word, through which inadvertently and unknowingly the gullible (Isaiah 5:13; Hosea 4:6) start making efforts to become even greater than God - which is the same thing that Lucifer attempted in heaven and was cast down from there, became Satan. Through these wrong teachings, in the garb of righteousness and godliness, Satan tries to show and teach that man through his efforts can control and direct God; can treat him like a puppet in his hands - a concept often seen in many religions of the world where it is shown and taught that men through their works, efforts, and self-righteousness were able to persuade their gods and goddesses to grant them powers and abilities which they later misused for selfish gains. If we ponder over the prayers, life, and works of the preachers and teachers of these wrong teachings, as we have done earlier, then in them too we find that they are more centred around using the power and gifts of the Holy Spirit for acquiring and increasing in things of worldly and temporal benefits, and in physical healings. Preaching and teachings related to repentance for sins, salvation, living in obedience to God and His Word, etc. usually are a very insignificant or a missing part. They mainly concentrate upon using the Holy Spirit to gain worldly, physical, and temporal goods, gains, and blessings - something quite like the pagan practice of persuading and controlling gods and goddesses through one’s works and efforts for selfish physical gains and temporal possessions.

In today’s article we will look at and consider some other implications that Satan has hidden in and propagates through these false teachings and wrong doctrines:

• In the previous articles we have seen that although it is clearly written in the Word of God that receiving the Holy Spirit and baptism with the Holy Spirit are two ways of expressing the same fact, yet these preachers and teachers of wrong doctrines, by using "of” in place of “with”, attempt to not only show and prove that they are two different things, but also that achieving them is possible through human efforts and methods; and therefore, those who are engaged in Christian Ministry should make it a point to attain to this status; which is nothing more than diverting the attention, time, and efforts of the Believers into a vain activity, and thereby obstructing and deviating them away from their service and ministry for the Lord. It also plants in their hearts the thought that they can persuade God to act and do as they desire.

• If it were to be accepted, as some of them allege to be the case, that the “baptism the Holy Spirit” is activating the Holy Spirit who has come to reside in the Christian Believers from the moment of their salvation, then this notion implies that God the Holy Spirit, having come to reside in a Born-Again Christian Believer, being given to him by God, comes in a dormant state and remains dormant unless and until the Believer wakes Him up and makes Him active. Therefore, it is the person in whom the Holy Spirit is residing, who controls and directs the Holy Spirit, instead of it being the other way around. But no such teaching has been given by the Lord Jesus regarding the Holy Spirit in John chapters 14 and 16, nor anywhere in the letters of the New Testament or any other books of the Bible. This is an unBiblical teaching, a satanic attempt to beguile people into trying to dominate and control God. In this context it is interesting to note that in some pagan religions there is the concept of awakening super-powers residing within the body through human methods and efforts.

• If it is said that the Holy Spirit is given to all Believers, but there are some who need some extra power and abilities for their ministry, therefore, they need a ‘second experience’, the “baptism of the Holy Spirit” for this, then, this too is inconsistent with the teachings of God’s Word. This is only an attempt to create divisions and differences amongst Christian Believers in the garb of godliness and righteousness; a way of making them fall into pride. If this notion is to be accepted, then it’s consequences are not difficult to see and understand:

• It will created divisions and differences amongst Christian Believers - divide them into those who have received the “baptism of the Holy Spirit”, and those who have not. God’s Word very clearly shows that whenever God’s people, within themselves, have tried to show themselves as different from others on any basis, the result has always been problems in the Church, never any benefit or progress, only breaking up and antagonism - (i) the Church in Corinth got divided because of following certain elders instead of the Lord Jesus (1 Corinthians 1:11-13). (ii) By segregating themselves as ‘Hebrew’ and ‘Hellenist’ Believers, there were contentions and in-fighting which started to adversely affect the prayers and service of God’s Word by the Apostles and Elders of the Church in Jerusalem (Acts 6:1-4). (iii) All the Apostles, Elders, and even Paul had to continually struggle to dissuade the Believers from thinking of themselves as Jewish and Non-Jewish Believers and the harmful effects of this thinking throughout their ministry (Acts 15:1-2, 5, 10-11; Ephesians 2:17-22). This was such a strong divisive and disruptive force, that even the Apostles and Elders of the stature of Peter and Barnabas got carried away by it and fell into hypocrisy (Galatians 2:11-13). A similar situation of division, differences, contentions, and hypocrisy arises when the Church is divided into ‘haves’ and ‘have-nots’ on the basis of this false and unBiblical doctrine of the “baptism of the Holy Spirit.”

• Those who consider themselves as those who have received the so-called “baptism of the Holy Spirit”, they start thinking of themselves as Believers of a superior or better quality; fall into spiritual pride, which is detrimental for their Christian ministry and functioning in the Church, since God can never compromise with and work along with those who are proud. In contrast, those who do not receive this so-called “baptism of the Holy Spirit”, despite their many efforts and attempts, they develop a feeling of being inferior and inadequate for God’s work, and they become weak and ineffective in their ministry. In both these situations, because of this false notion, God’s people and work of preaching and propagating the Gospel are brought to harm; and Satan gets to benefit.

• This notion also gives rise to the false unBiblical understanding that different ministries not only need different gifts of the Holy Spirit, but also different power and abilities from the Holy Spirit. Which then implies that some ministries are main and important and need some extra power and ability to be carried out, while the others are not as important or significant and do not need any extra power or abilities. This once again creates divisions and feelings of superiority-inferiority amongst Christian Believers and ministries. This concept is absolutely contrary to the purpose in giving the gifts of the Holy Spirit for Christian Ministry. Whatever be the gift, all are meant to serve, nurture, and contribute to the growth of the one body of Christ, the Church; no gift is greater or lesser, significant or insignificant, all gifts are equal and equally necessary, equally useful (Romans 12:3-5). God will reward everyone according to what the person has done with the ministry and gift entrusted to him; and not on the status and importance of the ministry or gift given to a person (Matthew 20:9-15). The very same power of the Holy Spirit is equitably available to everyone who is obedient to Him in their ministry.

If you are a Christian Believer, then it is mandatory for you to learn the teachings related to the Holy Spirit from the Word of God, seriously ponder over them, understand them, and obey them. You should learn the truth and accordingly live and behave appropriately and worthily, and should teach only the truth from the Bible. You will have to give an account of everything you say to the Lord Jesus (Matthew 12:36-37). When you have God’s Word in your hand, and the Holy Spirit is there with you to teach you, then how will you be able to answer for yourself for getting deceived by wrong doctrines and false preaching and teachings? How will you justify your giving credibility to the persons, sects, and denominations teaching and preaching wrong things in the name of the Holy Spirit, and being part of their false teachings?

 

If you are still thinking of yourself as being a Christian, because of being born in a particular family and having fulfilled the religious rites and rituals prescribed under your religion or denomination since your childhood, then you too need to come out of your misunderstanding of Biblical facts and start understanding and living according to what the Word of God says, instead of what any denominational creed says or teaches. Make the necessary corrections in your life now while you have the time and opportunity; lest by the time you realize your mistake, it is too late to do anything about it.

If you are still not Born Again, have not obtained salvation, or have not asked the Lord Jesus for forgiveness for your sins, then you have the opportunity to do so right now. A short prayer said voluntarily with a sincere heart, with heartfelt repentance for your sins, and a fully submissive attitude, “Lord Jesus, I confess that I have disobeyed You, and have knowingly or unknowingly, in mind, in thought, in attitude, and in deeds, committed sins. I believe that you have fully borne the punishment of my sins by your sacrifice on the cross, and have paid the full price of those sins for all eternity. Please forgive my sins, change my heart and mind towards you, and make me your disciple, take me with you." God longs for your company and wants to see you blessed, but to make this possible, is your personal decision. Will you not say this prayer now, while you have the time and opportunity to do so - the decision is yours.

बपतिस्मा समझना - (8) – पवित्र आत्मा का बपतिस्मा के निहितार्थ

परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा के विषय फैलाई जा रही गलत शिक्षाओं के मसीही विश्वासी के जीवन और उसकी सेवकाई पर आने वाले दुष्प्रभावों को हमने पिछले लेखों में अध्ययन किया है। इस शृंखला के निष्कर्ष पर पहुँचने पर आज और कल हम इन गलत शिक्षाओं में शैतान द्वारा “सामर्थी धार्मिकता और सेवकाई” के भेस में छिपाए गए घातक और अति हानिकारक निहितार्थों को देखेंगे, जिनके द्वारा वह प्रभु यीशु मसीह का अनुसरण करने की इच्छा रखने वाले लोगों को बहका कर गलत विनाशकारी मार्गों में डाल देता है।

 

जैसे हम पहले भी देख चुके हैं, पवित्र आत्मा कोई वस्तु नहीं है जिसे विभाजित करके टुकड़ों में या अंश-अंश करके दिया जा सके। वह ईश्वरीय व्यक्तित्व है, और जब भी, जिसे भी दिया जाता है, उसमें वह अपनी संपूर्णता में ही वास करता है, टुकड़ों में नहीं। इसलिए जब मसीही विश्वासियों को पवित्र आत्मा एक बार मिल जाता है, तो उसे पवित्र आत्मा उसकी सम्पूर्णता और में, संपूर्ण सामर्थ्य के साथ मिल जाता है। यदि पवित्र आत्मा का बपतिस्मा यदि कोई अलग अनुभव है, तो फिर उस संपूर्णता में मिले हुए परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा के विश्वासी में विद्यमान होने के बाद, उसके उद्धार के लिए अपने पुत्र को बलिदान कर देने के बाद, उद्धार पाने पर उसे अपनी संतान बनाकर स्वर्ग का वारिस और मसीह का संगी-वारिस (रोमियों 8:17) बना लेने के बाद, उसे अब परमेश्वर की ओर से और कौन सी स्वर्गीय आशीषों का दिया जाना शेष रह गया है?

 

यदि पवित्र आत्मा को मनुष्यों द्वारा बनाई गई कुछ विधियों के द्वारा प्राप्त किया जा सकता है तथा उसे कुछ लोगों को उसकी और भी अधिक सामर्थ्य प्रदान करवाई जा सकती है, तब तो फिर इन गलत शिक्षाओं के अनुसार पवित्र आत्मा तो फिर परमेश्वर नहीं रहा वरन मनुष्य के हाथों की कठपुतली हो गया। इस बात का और गहरा तथा खतरनाक अभिप्राय यह है कि क्योंकि त्रिएक परमेश्वर के तीनों स्वरूप – परमेश्वर पिता, परमेश्वर पुत्र और परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा हर एक बात में समान और एक ही मनसा के हैं, इसलिए फिर शेष दोनों स्वरूप भी मनुष्य के हाथों में उस कठपुतली के समान हो गए। यदि प्रभु यीशु की कही बात और दी गई शिक्षा के विरुद्ध, पवित्र आत्मा अलग से अपना एक पृथक बप्तिस्मा प्रदान करता है, तो फिर वह शेष दोनों ईश्वरीय व्यक्तित्वों से भिन्न है, पवित्र त्रिएक परमेश्वर में विभाजन है, तीनों समान, पूर्णतः सहमत, और एक नहीं हैं।

 

पवित्र आत्मा से संबंधित ‘पवित्र आत्मा का बपतिस्मा’ की इस गलत शिक्षा को स्वीकार करने का अर्थ है, मसीह की देह, उसकी कलीसिया को दो भागों में विभाजित करना – वे जिन के पास यह पवित्र आत्मा की भरपूरी या परिपूर्णता ‘है’, और वे जिन के पास यह ‘नहीं है।’ और फिर इस से, जिनके पास ‘है’ उन में ‘उच्च श्रेणी का होने,’ ‘बेहतर क्षमता और कार्य-कुशलता वाले होने,’ और ‘परमेश्वर से आशीष और प्रतिफल पाने पर अधिक दावा रखने’ की भावनाओं के द्वारा उनमें उनकी आत्मिकता के बारे में, उनके औरों से अधिक श्रेष्ठ और परमेश्वर के लिए उपयोगी होने के बारे में घमंड उत्पन्न करना। तथा जिनके पास ‘नहीं है’ उन्हें इस ‘विशिष्ट विश्वासियों’ के समूह में सम्मिलित होने और उस समूह के लाभ अर्जित कर पाने के निष्फल व्यर्थ प्रयासों को करते रहने के चक्करों में फंसा देना। दोनों ही स्थितियों में, अंततः परिणाम एक ही है – वास्तविक मसीही परिपक्वता और प्रभु के लिए प्रभावी होने में गिरावट आना, परस्पर ऊँच-नीच, अनबन, और कलह की स्थिति उत्पन्न होना (1 कुरिन्थियों 1:10-13; 3:1-3)। जिनके पास ‘है’ उन में इस के कारण उठने वाले घमंड, वर्चस्व, तथा औरों पर अधिकार रखने की भावनाओं तथा घमंड के कारण; और जिनके पास ‘नहीं है’ उन्हें एक पूर्णतः अनावश्यक और अनुचित कार्य में समय गंवाने और व्यर्थ प्रयास करने में लगा देने के द्वारा, मसीही विश्वास, परमेश्वर के वचन, और प्रभु के लिए प्रभावी होने में बढ़ने से बाधित कर देना। इस सारे व्यर्थ के प्रयास में हानि सुसमाचार प्रचार तथा प्रसार ही कि होगी; परस्पर मन-मुटाव, विरोध, ऊंच-नीच, और कलह में पड़े ऐसे “विश्वासियों” के जीवनों को देखकर लोग उद्धार के सुसमाचार को सुनने और मानने से संकोच करेंगे; और पवित्र आत्मा के प्रचार के द्वारा शैतान मसीह यीशु में पापों की क्षमा और उद्धार के प्रचार को दुर्बल और अप्रभावी करता रहेगा।

 

इस के अतिरिक्त, इस एक छोटी सी और अ-हानिकारक प्रतीत होने वाली बात से संबंधित गलत शिक्षा में शैतान ने एक बार फिर से परमेश्वर के विरुद्ध बहुत बड़ा षड्यंत्र लपेट कर ‘भक्ति की आदरणीय बात’ के रूप छिपा कर हम में घुसा दिया है। और हमारा इसलिए इस बात के प्रति सचेत होना, उस की सही समझ रखना, इस गलत शिक्षा से निकलना, और बच के रहना अनिवार्य है (2 कुरिन्थियों 2:11)। पवित्र आत्मा प्राप्त कर लेने के पश्चात, उस की प्रभावी उपस्थिति एवं सामर्थ्य को बढ़ाने के लिए बाद में किसी अन्य प्रक्रिया के द्वारा पवित्र आत्मा से भर जाने अथवा ‘परिपूर्ण’ होने के एक भिन्न अनुभव का संभव होने की बात कहने से तो यही अर्थ निकलता है कि पवित्र आत्मा को बांटा जा सकता है, उसे घटाया या बढ़ाया जा सकता है, उसे किस्तों या टुकड़ों में लिया या दिया जा सकता है, मनुष्य पवित्र आत्मा की उपलब्ध ‘मात्रा’ और गुणवत्ता’ को प्रभावित तथा नियंत्रित कर सकता है; इत्यादि।

ये सभी बातें न केवल वचन के विरुद्ध हैं, वरन पवित्र आत्मा के त्रिएक परमेश्वर का स्वरूप होने का इनकार करने का प्रयास करती हैं, जिसका अर्थ हो जाता है कि पवित्र त्रिएक परमेश्वर का सिद्धांत झूठा है, और फिर इसलिए परमेश्वर का वचन जो कि यह सिद्धांत सिखाता है, वह भी झूठा ठहरा। यह गलत शिक्षा पवित्र आत्मा को पवित्र त्रिएक परमेश्वर के एक व्यक्ति के स्थान पर, एक वस्तु बना देती है जिसे काटा, छांटा, और बांटा जा सकता है और फिर मनुष्यों के प्रयासों द्वारा दिया या लिया जा सकता है। और सब से अनुचित यह कि यह शिक्षा, परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा को मनुष्य के हाथों का खिलौना बना देती हैं, जिसे मनुष्य अपने व्यवहार और आचरण, अर्थात अपने कर्मों के द्वारा निर्धारित और नियंत्रित कर सकता है कि पवित्र आत्मा कब, किसे, कैसे, और कितना दिया जाएगा, और फिर वह उस मनुष्य में क्या और कैसे कार्य करेगा!

निष्कर्ष यह कि इस गलत शिक्षा को स्वीकार करने का अर्थ है कि परमेश्वर का वचन संपूर्ण एवं पूर्णतः सत्य नहीं है - उसमें मनुष्यों द्वारा जोड़ा या घटाया जा सकता है, उसमें फेर-बदल की जा सकती है; तथा यह भी कि परमेश्वर मनुष्य की मुठ्ठी में किया जा सकता है; और मनुष्य उसे अपनी इच्छानुसार नियंत्रित और उपयोग कर सकता है! परमेश्वर इस घोर विधर्म के विचार से भी हमारी रक्षा करे, हमें इस के घातक फरेब में कभी भी न पड़ने दे। ये सभी गलत शिक्षाएं परमेश्वर और उसके पवित्र वचन को झुठलाने और उसे हमारे जीवनों में अप्रभावी करने के लिए बड़ी चतुराई तथा परोक्ष रीति से किए गए शैतान के हमले हैं; हमारे लिए इन शैतानी षड्यंत्रों को ध्यान दे कर समझना और उन से दूर रहना, और शैतान के इन छलावों में फँसने से बच कर रहना बहुत अनिवार्य है।

परमेश्वर ने हम मसीही विश्वासियों को अपनी पवित्र आत्मा के द्वारा, हमारे उद्धार पाने के साथ ही मसीही जीवन एवं सेवकाई के लिए आवश्यक सामर्थ्य तथा अपने वचन के द्वारा उपयुक्त मार्गदर्शन दे रखा है; अब यह हम पर है कि हम उसका सदुपयोग करें और प्रभु के योग्य गवाह बनें।

यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

Understanding Baptism - (8) – Implications of Baptism OF the Holy Spirit

We have been studying the wrong teachings, preaching, and doctrines related to the Holy Spirit, and their effects in the life and ministry of Christian Believers in the past articles. As we conclude this series, in this and the next article, we will look into the disastrous and extremely harmful implications, of these wrong teachings and doctrines, subtly placed by Satan in the garb of “empowered religiosity and ministry” to beguile and lead astray into destruction people desirous of following the Lord Jesus Christ.

As we have seen before, the Holy Spirit is not an object that can be divided or broken up, and then given out in bits and pieces. He is a divine personality, and whenever, to whomever He is given, He is given in His entirety; and wherever He resides, He resides as a whole person in His completeness, never in parts. Therefore, whenever a Christian Believer receives the Holy Spirit, he receives Him in His fullness and in all His power. If the so-called baptism of the Holy Spirit is a different or second experience, then what extra will, or can, the Believer get, having already once received the Holy Spirit in His fullness and complete power? If God has already given His only begotten Son for the salvation of person; has given him His Holy Spirit at the moment of his salvation; has declared him to be His child and a co-heir of the Lord Jesus Christ (Romans 8:17), then what else is left of the heavenly glories to be given to him as another and different experience by God?

If the Holy Spirit can be received and then made to give some extra power to a person through humanly devised methods, then according to these wrong teachings, the Holy Spirit is no longer God, but a puppet in the hands of man. The deeper and far more dangerous implication of this is that since all the three divine personalities in the Holy Triune God - God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Spirit are in full agreement and equal in all aspects about everything, therefore, the other two divine personalities are also like puppets in the hands of man. If contrary to what the Lord Jesus has said and taught, the Holy Spirit gives a separate and different baptism, then the Holy Spirit is a different personality than the other two; and the three divine personalities of Triune God, the Holy Trinity is neither united, nor equal and nor in full agreement with each other about all things.

Accepting this wrong teaching about the baptism of the Holy Spirit also means to divide the Church, the Body of Christ into two parts - those who have the Holy Spirit in His fullness and power - the ‘haves’, and those who do not have - the ‘have nots’. This then naturally leads to the tendency that the ‘haves’ will think of themselves of being superior or of a better category, being people with better ability and effectivity in ministry, and therefore having a claim to better rewards and blessings from God than the ‘have nots’; knowingly or unknowingly these ‘haves’ will develop a spiritual pride about themselves, about their ministry, and about their being useful for the Lord; and the Lord God can neither accept, nor tolerate, nor work with any pride. This will effectively reduce them to being nothing more that puppets in the hands of Satan, people working in the name of the Lord but not accomplishing anything for the Lord God. This division will also drive the ‘have nots’ into making vain efforts to join these ‘elite Believers’, the ‘haves’, so that they too can receive similar blessings and rewards. The ‘haves’ will live with a sense of spiritual superiority and pride, and will try to dominate the ‘have nots’; while the ‘have nots’ instead of growing in the Lord will be spending their time and efforts to catch up with the ‘haves.’ The net result will be the same for both - the Christian Believer will fall in his spiritual maturity and effectiveness for the Lord, there will be disagreements, feelings of superiority-inferiority, quarrels, and the Church breaking up (1 Corinthians 1:10-13; 3:1-3). The looser in this game of vanity will be the preaching and propagation of the Gospel; the lives and activities of these “Believers” will only serve to discourage people from listening to and accepting the Gospel of salvation; and Satan, through the preaching of the Holy Spirit will keep undermining and nullifying the preaching of salvation through the Lord Jesus.

Through this seemingly innocuous and harmless but wrong teaching, Satan has subtly brought in a serious conspiracy against God, in the garb of an attractive religious teaching. It is very important for us to be aware of this (2 Corinthians 2:11), to understand this wrong teaching, to realize its harmful effects, to come out of it and to bring others out as well. To accept and believe that the receiving of the Holy Spirit, and to accept the teaching that the power and efficacy of the working of the Holy Spirit can be manipulated by man through some man-made methods, only implies that the quantity and quality of the Holy Spirit can be made subject to man. Which means that either the Holy Spirit is not God; or God can be made a puppet in the hands of man.

Not only are all these teachings contrary to the Word of God, but they also cast a doubt upon the Holy Spirit being a divine personality, and therefore upon the doctrine of the Triune God, the Holy Trinity. Which means, that the Word of God is erroneous, its major and basic doctrines are unreliable and false. This wrong teaching renders the Holy Spirit into an object which can be cut, broken trimmed, distributed in parts by men. It all ends up implying that man can direct what the Holy Spirit will do – when, where, and how; instead of the Holy Spirit guiding and directing the lives of men.

The conclusion is that accepting this wrong doctrine is accepting that the Word of God is neither complete, nor fully reliable - people can add to it, take away from it, misinterpret and misuse it as per their own understanding and convenience; and that God can be made a puppet in the hands of man. May the Lord our God keep us away from even the thought of such blasphemy, and safe from the disastrous results of such teachings. All these wrong teachings are ways and methods of getting us to subtly and indirectly deny the truth and facts of God and His Word and fall away from them into seemingly religious but vain and unBiblical things. It is very important for us to understand and stay away from this satanic conspiracy.

If you are a Christian Believer, then it is mandatory for you to learn the teachings related to the Holy Spirit from the Word of God, seriously ponder over them, understand them, and obey them. You should learn the truth and accordingly live and behave appropriately and worthily, and should teach only the truth from the Bible. You will have to give an account of everything you say to the Lord Jesus (Matthew 12:36-37). When you have God’s Word in your hand, and the Holy Spirit is there with you to teach you, then how will you be able to answer for yourself for getting deceived by wrong doctrines and false preaching and teachings? How will you justify your giving credibility to the persons, sects, and denominations teaching and preaching wrong things in the name of the Holy Spirit, and being part of their false teachings?

 

If you are still thinking of yourself as being a Christian, because of being born in a particular family and having fulfilled the religious rites and rituals prescribed under your religion or denomination since your childhood, then you too need to come out of your misunderstanding of Biblical facts and start understanding and living according to what the Word of God says, instead of what any denominational creed says or teaches. Make the necessary corrections in your life now while you have the time and opportunity; lest by the time you realize your mistake, it is too late to do anything about it.

If you are still not Born Again, have not obtained salvation, or have not asked the Lord Jesus for forgiveness for your sins, then you have the opportunity to do so right now. A short prayer said voluntarily with a sincere heart, with heartfelt repentance for your sins, and a fully submissive attitude, “Lord Jesus, I confess that I have disobeyed You, and have knowingly or unknowingly, in mind, in thought, in attitude, and in deeds, committed sins. I believe that you have fully borne the punishment of my sins by your sacrifice on the cross, and have paid the full price of those sins for all eternity. Please forgive my sins, change my heart and mind towards you, and make me your disciple, take me with you." God longs for your company and wants to see you blessed, but to make this possible, is your personal decision. Will you not say this prayer now, while you have the time and opportunity to do so - the decision is yours.
