    पिछले लेख में, हमने 1 कुरिन्थियों 3:9-10 और इफिसियों 2:19-22 के आधार पर सातवें रूपक कलिसिया का परमेश्वर की रचना (भवन) होने पर विचार करना शुरू किया था। हमने यह समझा था कि वर्तमान में कलिसिया 'निर्माणाधीन' है; परमेश्वर अभी भी इस पर काम कर रहे हैं, और इसी वजह से यह कभी-कभी अपूर्ण, त्रुटिपूर्ण और निराशाजनक दिखाई देती है। परमेश्वर के इस भवन का काम उनके द्वारा नियुक्त किए गए सेवकों द्वारा किया जा रहा है, जो या तो एक साथ मिलकर काम कर रहे हैं, या एक के बाद एक क्रमवार, यानी एक व्यक्ति दूसरे के द्वारा किए गए काम के ऊपर आगे का निर्माण कर रहा है। इसका तात्पर्य यह है कि सभी सेवक समान रूप से महत्वपूर्ण हैं, और एक के महत्व को दूसरे से अलग या बड़ा नहीं आंका जा सकता, क्योंकि हर कोई परमेश्वर द्वारा सौंपे गए अपने-अपने काम को कर रहा है। इसलिए, कोई भी मनुष्य किसी एक सेवक को दूसरे से बेहतर या श्रेष्ठ नहीं कह सकता है, और न ही किसी व्यक्ति विशेष के पीछे चलने, उसका अनुयायी बनने के लिए बढ़ावा दे सकता है। आज हम परमेश्वर की कलिसिया में इस एकता के महत्व के बारे में कुछ और बातें देखेंगे। 

रूपक – 7 - परमेश्वर का भवन - भाग 2

 

    इफिसियों 2:19 परमेश्वर की रचना (भवन) में एकता पर एक भिन्न दृष्टिकोण से बल देता है। ध्यान रखिए कि इफिसुस की कलीसिया अन्य-जातियों की कलीसिया थी। कुछ परिवर्तित यहूदी, अन्य-जातियों को अभी भी निचले स्तर का समझते थे, और अन्य-जाति से आए विश्वासियों पर मूसा की व्यवस्था पालन करने को अनिवार्य करने के लिये बहस हुआ करती थी। परन्तु यहाँ पर पवित्र-आत्मा के द्वारा पौलुस बिल्कुल स्पष्ट कर दे रहा है कि प्रभु यीशु पर विश्वास के द्वारा मिला उद्धार, इस प्रकार के सभी विभाजनों को समाप्त कर देता है। अब सभी विश्वास के द्वारा एक ही स्तर पर हैं - कुलुस्सियों 3:11 देखें।

    साथ ही इस बात पर भी ध्यान दें कि जब भी परमेश्वर की रचना (भवन) लिखा गया है, वह एक-वचन में लिखा गया है, न कि बहु-वचन में; जैसे कि यहूदी रचना (भवन), अन्य-जाति रचना (भवन), और संसार भर के विभिन्न जातियों के अन्य-जाति लोगों के नाम के अनुसार रचनाएँ (भवन), आदि। कलीसिया एक है — एक सार्वभौमिक और एकीकृत संरचना है। इसे विभाजित करना मसीह की देह, दुल्हन और परमेश्वर के मन्दिर को अपनी ही पसन्द-नापसन्द के अनुसार बाँटने जैसा है। यह बात परमेश्वर को कतई स्वीकार्य नहीं है, और न्याय के समय ऐसा करने के बहुत गम्भीर परिणाम होंगे।

    हर रचना (भवन) किसी नींव पर बनाई जाती है। यह एक सामान्य समझ की बात है कि यदि भवन का कोई भी भाग, डाली गई नींव के बाहर खड़ा किया जाएगा, तो वह अस्थिर रहेगा और देर-सवेर उसके कारण बहुत हानि होगी। इफिसियों 2:20 के अनुसार परमेश्वर की यह रचना (भवन) भी पहले से स्थापित की गई एक नींव पर ही बनाई जा रही है - प्रेरितों और भविष्यद्वक्ताओं की नींव पर— अर्थात् प्रेरितों और भविष्यद्वक्ताओं के द्वारा हमें दिये गए परमेश्वर के वचन पर। इसलिए, किसी को भी कोई नई नींव नहीं रखनी है, और न ही “उनकी अपनी कालीसिया” के लिये कोई अलग नींव रखनी है। वचन रूपी इस नींव पर निर्माण करने का यह तात्पर्य भी है कि परमेश्वर के सम्पूर्ण वचन को उद्यम के साथ परमेश्वर की कलीसिया को सिखाया जाना है। जैसा कि पौलुस ने प्रेरितों 20:20, 27 में, इफिसुस की कलीसिया के अगुवों से अपनी अन्तिम विदाई लेते हुए कहा, कि उसने परमेश्वर के पूरे वचन को स्पष्ट और खुलकर उन्हें सिखाया, किसी बात को उनसे रोक कर नहीं रखा। इसी प्रकार से, यदि नींव के किसी भाग पर निर्माण नहीं किया जाता है तो इसका अर्थ है कि वह भवन अपूर्ण है और बनावट तथा उपयोगिता में असफल रहेगा। तात्पर्य यह है कि परमेश्वर के सेवक, यदि परमेश्वर के सम्पूर्ण वचन को विश्वासयोग्यता के साथ नहीं सिखाते हैं, या वचन को काटते-छाँटते हैं, तो यह सम्पूर्ण नींव को प्रयोग नहीं करना है। यदि वे परमेश्वर के वचन में अपनी ओर से कुछ जोड़ते हैं, तो यह परमेश्वर द्वारा दी गई नींव के बाहर निर्माण करना है। दोनों ही स्थितियों में वे परमेश्वर की रचना (भाव) में फेर-बदल करने, उसे कमज़ोर कर देने के दोषी हैं, और उन्हें इसके लिये जवाब देना पड़ेगा।

    हम इफिसियों 2:20 से यह भी देखते हैं कि स्वयं प्रभु यीशु ही मुख्य कोने का पत्थर हैं – वह निर्धारित आधार जहाँ से प्रत्येक बात नापी और जाँची जाती है, यह निश्चित किया जाता है कि संरेखण में कोई त्रुटि तो नहीं है, भविष्य में निर्माण में किसी भी स्थान पर कुछ बिगाड़ होने की सम्भावना तो नहीं है। इसकी पुष्टि इफिसियों 2:21 से हो जाती है, जो बताता है कि प्रभु यीशु ही सम्पूर्ण रचना (भवन) को एक ही रचना में जोड़े रखते है और उसे स्वयं में बढ़ाता जाता है। याद कीजिये कि इस्राएल की जंगल की यात्रा में परमेश्वर का तम्बू, और बाद में यरूशलेम में सुलैमान के मन्दिर के निर्माण के समय – सारी योजना, सामग्री, नक्शा, सब कुछ परमेश्वर के द्वारा पूरे विवरण की बारीकी के साथ दिया गया था, और सम्पूर्ण रचना ठीक उसी की तरह ही की जानी थी, जैसे परमेश्वर ने बताई थी। परमेश्वर द्वारा दिये गए विवरण में लेशमात्र भी परिवर्तन नहीं होना था। जब सब कुछ ठीक परमेश्वर के कहे के अनुसार पूरा किया गया, केवल तब ही परमेश्वर के तेज ने तम्बू और मन्दिर में प्रवेश किया (निर्गमन 40:16, 34; 1 राजाओं 8:10-11)। तो फिर क्या आज इससे भिन्न हो सकता है? वह भी तब जब परमेश्वर की अपनी सन्तान, उसका परिवार ही उसकी रचना (भवन) में परिवर्तित किये जा रहे हैं? एक बार फिर से यह इस धारणा को ध्वस्त कर देता है कि प्रभु की कलीसिया किसी व्यक्ति या व्यक्तियों के समूह की इच्छा और प्रयासों के द्वारा बनाई, स्थापित, और बढ़ाई जा सकती है; और परमेश्वर की कलीसिया में लोगों की अपनी समझ और धारणाओं के आधार पर छेड़-छाड़, फेर-बदल की जा सकती है।  

    निष्कर्ष यह है कि जिस कलीसिया को प्रभु बना रहा है — जिसके विरुद्ध शैतान की कोई शक्ति सफल नहीं हो सकती (मत्ती 16:18) — हमने उसके बारे में बाइबल में दिये गए सात रूपकों को देखा है। यहाँ पर ध्यान देने के लिये एक बहुत महत्वपूर्ण बात है जो इन सातों रूपकों में सामान्य है - उसके लिए प्रयुक्त सातों रूपक एकवचन में हैं — एक परिवार, एक घर या मन्दिर, एक खेत, एक देह, एक दुल्हन, एक दाख की बारी, और एक रचना (भवन)। यह आज हम से क्या कह रहा है? विशेषकर इन दिनों में जब परमेश्वर की कलीसिया छिछले बहानों, व्यक्तिगत अहंकार, और सदस्यों के मध्य एकता न होने के कारण विभाजित होती चली जा रही है? इन रूपकों में होकर जो मूलभूत शिक्षा मिलती है, वह यह है कि कोई भी शिक्षा या विचार जो परमेश्वर के परिवार में एकता के स्थान पर विभाजन उत्पन्न करे, वह बाइबल से सुसंगत नहीं है। ऐसी कोई भी बात परमेश्वर की ओर से नहीं है; और यदि वह परमेश्वर की ओर से नहीं है, तो फिर वह शैतान की ओर से ही है, चाहे वह कितनी भी धार्मिक और भक्तिपूर्ण क्यों न प्रतीत हो – क्योंकि अन्य कोई विकल्प ही नहीं है।

    यदि आप एक मसीही विश्वासी हैं, तो यह ध्यान रखिए कि अन्ततः, एक दिन, आपको अपने जीवन और कार्यों का संपूर्ण हिसाब प्रभु यीशु को देना होगा। प्रभु के धैर्य और विलंब से कोप करने का अर्थ उसका कभी कोप न करना, कभी हिसाब न लेना, नहीं है। उद्धार पाया हुए मसीही विश्वासी का उद्धार तो कभी नहीं जाएगा, किन्तु उसे अनन्तकाल के लिए मिलने वाले प्रतिफलों पर उसके जीवन और कार्यों पर दुष्प्रभाव अवश्य आएगा (1 कुरिन्थियों 3:13-15)।

    यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। स्वेच्छा से अपने पापों के लिये पश्चाताप करके, प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु, मैं अपने पापों के लिए पश्चातापी हूँ, उनके लिए आप से क्षमा माँगता हूँ। मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मुझे और मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

    In the previous article, where we had begun considering the 7th Metaphor, the Church being God’s Building, from 1 Corinthians 3:9-10 and Ephesians 2:19-22, we had understood that presently, the Church is “under-construction”; God is still at work on it, and therefore it appears to be imperfect, fallible, and disappointing at times. This work of God’s Building is being done by God’s appointed laborers, who are either working along with each other, or sequentially - one building upon some work done by another. The implication being that all workers are equally important, and there is no differentiation in importance of one from another, since each is doing his God assigned work. Therefore, no man can project one better or superior than another, and encourage following any particular person. Today we will see some more on the importance of this unity in God’s Church.

Metaphor – 7 - God’s Building - Part 2

    This unity in God’s Building has been stressed upon from another angle in Ephesians 2:19. Remember, that the Ephesian Church was a Gentile Church. Some of the converted Jews still considered the Gentiles as inferior, and there were disputes about enforcing the Laws of Moses upon the Gentile Believers. But here Paul through the Holy Spirit is making it very clear that coming to salvation through faith in the Lord Jesus removes all such differentiations. Everyone is now at the same level by faith - see Colossians 3:11. 

    Also notice that wherever God’s Building has been stated, it is in singular - one Building. Not in plural as Jewish Building, Gentile Building and other buildings for various Gentile Believers from various ethnic backgrounds, all over the world. The Church is one universal unified structure; and to break it up into subdivisions is tantamount to trying to break up the Body of Christ, the Bride of Christ, the Temple of God into bits and pieces to suit personal fancies. This is something absolutely unacceptable to God, and will invite very severe consequences at judgement time.

    Every building is built upon a foundation. It is common sense that if any part of the building is built outside the laid foundation, it will be unstable and will end up in a disaster, sooner or later. We see from Ephesians 2:20 that this God’s Building is also being built on an already established foundation - the Apostles and the Prophets, i.e., God’s Word given to us through the Apostles and the Prophets. So, no one is to lay the foundation all over again, nor lay a new foundation of “their own church.” Constructing on this foundation of the Word also implies that the whole of God’s Word is to be diligently taught in God’s Church. As Paul says in Acts 20:20, 27, while bidding his final farewell to the Ephesian Church Elders, that he kept back nothing of God’s Word from them and openly declared to them the whole counsel of God. Similarly, if any part of the foundation is left unutilized, it means that the building is incomplete, and fails in its construction and purpose. The implication is that if God’s ministers are not careful to faithfully teach the whole of God’s Word, or, if they cut and trim out portions of God’s Word, then they are not fully utilizing the God given foundation. If they add things of their own to God’s Word, then it is building outside the God given foundation. In both situations, they are being guilty of tampering with God’s Building and subverting it. Their ploys will not remain unexposed, and they will be called to account for it.

    We also see from Ephesians 2:20 that the Lord Jesus Himself is the chief cornerstone - the standard marker from where everything is measured and evaluated to make sure that there is no malalignment, no possibility of any deformation showing up later in the construction, at any place. This is confirmed in Ephesians 2:21 which states that the Lord Jesus holds and joins the whole building into one structure and makes it grow in Him. Recall the construction of God’s Tabernacle in Israel’s wilderness journey, and the Temple constructed by Solomon in Jerusalem - the plans, materials, design, everything was given by God in meticulous detail, and the construction had to be exactly as specified by God; no variation of any sort in anything from God given plans was acceptable. Only after the Tabernacle and the Temple had been completed absolutely according to God’s specifications, did the Glory of God enter the Tabernacle and the Temple (Exodus 40:16, 34; 1 Kings 8:10-11). Can it be otherwise now, when God’s own children, His family are being transformed into His Building? This once again demolishes anyone’s concept of the Lord’s Church being established, built, and increased by the will and efforts of any person or group of persons; and men can take liberties with it according to their own concepts and understanding.

    In conclusion, for understanding about the Church that the Lord is building, the one against which no power of the devil can succeed (Matthew 16:18), we have considered seven metaphors used in the Bible for the Lord’s Church. There is one very important thing to note, that is common to these seven metaphors - these metaphors are all singular - one Family, one House or Temple, one Field, one Body, one Bride, one Vineyard, and one Building. What basic lesson does this convey to us? Especially in these times when God’s Church is fragmenting away because of petty excuses, personal egoism, and lack of unity amongst the members? The basic underlying teaching through these metaphors is that any teaching, any concept or understanding that causes divisions and segregation instead of unity in God’s Family, is unBiblical. Any such thing cannot be from God; and therefore however pious and godly it may seem, if it is not from God it has to be from Satan - there is no other alternative. 

    If you are a Christian Believer, then keep in mind that eventually, one day you will have to stand before the Lord Jesus and give an account of your life to Him. The present attitude of patience, forbearance, and long-suffering of the Lord does not mean that He will never take an account and will never appropriately deal with the disobedient and careless. While it is true that a Christian Believer will never lose his salvation; but his carelessness and disobedience surely will quite adversely affect his eternal rewards (1 Corinthians 3:13-15).

    If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord, make your decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now to ensure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Repenting of your sins, and asking the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily and sincerely, surrendering yourself to Him - is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life.  Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.

    हमने पिछले लेखों में देखा है कि प्रत्येक सच्चे नया-जन्म पाए हुए मसीही विश्वासी को परमेश्वर ने उद्धार के साथ-साथ, कुछ और प्रावधान भी दिये हैं। परमेश्वर ने उसे अपना वचन दिया है; अपना पवित्र आत्मा दिया है; अपनी कलीसिया और अपने अन्य बच्चों की सहभागिता दी है; और एक या अधिक आत्मिक वरदान दिए हैं। यह सभी इसलिए ताकि वह अपना मसीही जीवन भली-भांति जी सके, और परमेश्वर द्वारा उसे दी गई जिम्मेदारियों और सेवकाई को योग्य रीति से पूरा कर सके। प्रत्येक मसीही विश्वासी को अपने मसीही जीवन का और उसे सौंपी गई जिम्मेदारियों का हिसाब परमेश्वर को देना होगा (रोमियों 14:12; 2 कुरिन्थियों 5:10)। उसे अनन्त काल के प्रतिफल देने के लिये, उसका प्रत्येक कार्य  बारीकी से परखा जाएगा (1 कुरिन्थियों 3:13-15)। इस लिए, यह स्वाभाविक है कि वह परमेश्वर द्वारा उसे मसीही जीवन जीने और ज़िम्मेदारियों को पूरा करने के लिये दिये गए प्रावधानों के लिये भी जवाबदेह होगा। इसलिए, प्रत्येक विश्वासी को परमेश्वर द्वारा उसे दिए गए इन विशेषाधिकारों और प्रावधानों का एक योग्य भण्डारी होना है, उनके विषय में सीखना है। पिछले लेखों में परमेश्वर के वचन और उसके पवित्र आत्मा के विषय में सीख लेने के बाद, अब हम कलीसिया और उसके सदस्यों के साथ सहभागिता के प्रति भण्डारीपन के विषय में सीख रहे हैं। हम यह कार्य बाइबल में कलीसिया के लिए दिए गए विभिन्न रूपकों के माध्यम से कर रहे हैं। जिन सात रूपकों को हमने प्रारम्भ में सूचीबद्ध किया था, उनमें से छह रूपकों पर हम पिछले लेखों में विचार कर चुके हैं। आज हम उस सूची के अंतिम, सातवें रूपक, पर विचार करेंगे — अर्थात् कलीसिया परमेश्वर की रचना (भवन) है। क्योंकि यह चर्चा कुछ लम्बी है, इसलिए इसे हम दो भागों में पूरा करेंगे।

(7) परमेश्वर का भवन – भाग 1

    विश्वासियों को दो स्थानों पर परमेश्वर की रचना (भवन) कहा गया है:

• 1 कुरिन्थियों 3:9-10 - क्योंकि हम परमेश्वर के सहकर्मी हैं; तुम परमेश्वर की खेती और परमेश्वर की रचना हो। परमेश्वर के उस अनुग्रह के अनुसार, जो मुझे दिया गया, मैं ने बुद्धिमान राज-मिस्त्री के समान नेव डाली, और दूसरा उस पर रद्दा रखता है; परन्तु हर एक मनुष्य चौकस रहे, कि वह उस पर कैसा रद्दा रखता है।

• इफिसियों 2:19-:22 इसलिये तुम अब विदेशी और मुसाफिर नहीं रहे, परन्तु पवित्र लोगों के संगी स्‍वदेशी और परमेश्वर के घराने के हो गए। और प्रेरितों और भविष्यद्वक्ताओं की नेव पर जिसके कोने का पत्थर मसीह यीशु आप ही है, बनाए गए हो। जिस में सारी रचना एक साथ मिलकर प्रभु में एक पवित्र मन्दिर बनती जाती है। जिस में तुम भी आत्मा के द्वारा परमेश्वर का निवास स्थान होने के लिये एक साथ बनाए जाते हो।

 

    नया-जन्म पाए हुए विश्वासियों के परमेश्वर की रचना (भवन) होने के इन दोनों संदर्भों में इस बात पर ध्यान दीजिए कि इसे किसी पूर्ण हो चुके कार्य के रूप में नहीं, बल्कि एक निरंतर चलने वाली प्रक्रिया के रूप में बताया गया है। दूसरे शब्दों में, कलीसिया अथवा परमेश्वर की रचना (भवन) अभी भी “निर्माणाधीन” है। विश्वासी इसमें जोड़े जा रहे हैं, और जिन लोगों को जो कार्य सौंपा गया है वे उस निर्माण में अपना निर्धारित कार्य कर रहे हैं। पौलुस 1 कुरिन्थियों 3:10 में कहता है कि, “मैं ने बुद्धिमान राजमिस्री की नाईं नेव डाली, और दूसरा उस पर रद्दा रखता है।” अर्थात्, कार्य अलग-अलग लोगों के द्वारा क्रमवार किया जा रहा है। इसी प्रकार इफिसियों 2:22 में वह लिखता है, “तुम भी साथ बनाए जाते हो;” अर्थात्, भिन्न लोग साथ मिल कर एक ही कार्य को पूरा कर रहे हैं। कलीसिया और उसके सदस्यों पर प्रायः उनकी अपूर्णताओं और दुर्बलताओं के कारण आरोप लगाए जाते हैं और उनकी आलोचना की जाती है कि यदि वे वास्तव में परमेश्वर के होते, तो उन्हें “सिद्ध” या त्रुटिहीन होना चाहिए था। परन्तु यह एक गलत धारणा पर आधारित मिथ्या आलोचना है, जिसे तीन तथ्यों के आधार पर समझा जा सकता है।

    जैसा कि हम यहाँ देखते हैं, पहली बात यह है कि कलीसिया अभी भी “निर्माणाधीन” है, इसलिए अधूरी है और उसमें कमी-घटी अवश्य मिलेंगी। दूसरी बात, प्रत्येक नया-जन्मा मसीही विश्वासी अपने मसीही जीवन की शुरुआत एक आत्मिक शिशु के रूप में करता है (1 पतरस 2:2), और धीरे-धीरे प्रभु के स्वरूप में परिवर्तित होता जाता है (2 कुरिन्थियों 3:18); इसलिए उसमें कुछ न कुछ असिद्धता और अपरिपक्वता भी अवश्य मिलेगी। तीसरी बात, जैसा कि हमने तीसरे रूपक “परमेश्वर की खेती” पर विचार करते समय देखा था, शैतान ने कलीसिया में अपने “जंगली बीज” बो दिए हैं, जो वर्तमान में परमेश्वर द्वारा बोए गए अच्छे बीज के साथ ही बढ़ रहे हैं। अभी के लिये, परमेश्वर ने जंगली बीजों को अच्छे बीजों के साथ बढ़ने दिया है, परन्तु न्याय के समय वे अनन्त विनाश के लिये अलग कर दिये जाएँगे। परन्तु अभी के लिए, परमेश्वर की खेती, उसकी कलीसिया में, भले और बुरे साथ-साथ देखे ही जाएंगे। इसलिए, इन तीनों तथ्यों का मिला-जुला प्रभाव है कि कलीसिया और विश्वासी अपूर्ण, असिद्ध, और बहुधा बहुत सी बातों में निराश करने वाले प्रतीत होते हैं। परन्तु परमेश्वर अब भी अपनी कलीसिया में कार्य कर रहा है; अभी यह रचना (भवन) आत्मा के द्वारा परमेश्वर का निवास स्थान होने के लिये बनाई जा रही है।

    अब एक और बात पर ध्यान दीजिए जिसे पवित्र आत्मा ने पौलुस से 1 कुरिन्थियों 3:10 में लिखवाया — “मैं ने बुद्धिमान राज-मिस्त्री के समान नेव डाली, और दूसरा उस पर रद्दा रखता है।” दूसरे शब्दों में, यह कार्य परमेश्वर द्वारा नियुक्त विभिन्न मजदूरों के सामूहिक प्रयास का परिणाम है। न तो पौलुस और न ही कोई अन्य इसे स्वयं ही सम्पूर्ण कर सकता था; उन सभी ने या तो अन्य लोगों के साथ मिल कर, या फिर किसी अन्य के द्वारा किये गए कार्य पर आगे बनाया। यह विश्वासियों की मनुष्यों के अनुयायी बनने की प्रवृत्ति को बहुत बलपूर्वक अस्वीकार करता है, जिसकी पौलुस ने पहले भी कड़े शब्दों में निन्दा की है (1 कुरिन्थियों 1:10-13; 3:3-4)। परमेश्वर की रचना (भवन) में, न तो कोई सेवक, और न ही कलीसिया-सभा का कोई भी सदस्य, परमेश्वर की कलीसिया में कार्य करने वाले किसी भी कार्यकर्ता को अपनी ओर से कोई उच्च स्थान प्रदान कर सकता है या उसे अनुचित रीति से औरों से बढ़कर मान सकता है, और न ही उस मनुष्य का अनुसरण करने के लिए स्वयं या औरों को कह सकता है। सभी कार्यकर्ता सहकर्मी हैं, सभी अपने निर्धारित समय और स्थान पर निर्धारित कार्य को कर रहे हैं। पौलुस ने इस बात की पुष्टि अपने साथ कार्य करने वालों को “सहकर्मी” कहने के द्वारा की (1 कुरिन्थियों 3:9, तथा अपनी पत्रियों में अनेकों अन्य स्थानों पर भी); इसी प्रकार से पतरस ने (1 पतरस 5:1), और यूहन्ना ने भी कहा है (3 यूहन्ना 1:8)। कलीसिया में परमेश्वर ने जिन्हें पद-अधिकारी बनाया है, उन्हें भी इस ज़िम्मेदारी को नम्रता के साथ अधिकारी नहीं, सेवक होकर निभाना है (1 पतरस 5:1-3)। 

    हम इस विषय पर यह चर्चा अगले लेख में जारी रखेंगे। 

    यदि आप एक मसीही विश्वासी हैं, तो यह ध्यान रखिए कि अन्ततः, एक दिन, आपको अपने जीवन और कार्यों का संपूर्ण हिसाब प्रभु यीशु को देना होगा। प्रभु के धैर्य और विलंब से कोप करने का अर्थ उसका कभी कोप न करना, कभी हिसाब न लेना, नहीं है। उद्धार पाया हुए मसीही विश्वासी का उद्धार तो कभी नहीं जाएगा, किन्तु उसे अनन्तकाल के लिए मिलने वाले प्रतिफलों पर उसके जीवन और कार्यों पर दुष्प्रभाव अवश्य आएगा (1 कुरिन्थियों 3:13-15)।

    यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। स्वेच्छा से अपने पापों के लिये पश्चाताप करके, प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु, मैं अपने पापों के लिए पश्चातापी हूँ, उनके लिए आप से क्षमा माँगता हूँ। मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मुझे और मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

Metaphor – 7 - God’s Building - Part 1

 

    We have seen in the previous articles that along with salvation, to every truly Born-Again Christian Believer, God has given some other provisions as well. God has given His Word; His Holy Spirit; His Church and the fellowship of His other children; and one or more spiritual gifts. All this is to help him live his Christian life and worthily fulfill his God given responsibilities and ministry. Every Christian Believer will have to give an account of his life and of the responsibilities entrusted to him to God (Romans 14:12; 2 Corinthians 5:10). All his works will be examined very minutely for the eternal rewards he should get (1 Corinthians 3:13-15) Therefore, it is only natural that he will also be accountable for the provisions given to him by God, to live his Christian life and fulfill his responsibilities. Hence, every Believer must also be a worthy steward of these privileges granted to him by God, and to learn about them. Having learnt about God’ Word and His Holy Spirit in the earlier articles, we are now learning about stewardship of the Church and fellowship with the members of the Church. We are doing this through the various metaphors given in the Bible for the Church. Of the seven metaphors we had listed initially, we have so far considered six metaphors in the previous articles. Today we will consider the final, the seventh metaphor of the list, the Church being God’s Building. Since this is a somewhat long discussion, therefore, we will consider it in two parts.

(7) God’s Building - Part 1

    The Believers have been referred to God’s building at two places:

• 1 Corinthians 3:9-10 - For we are God's fellow workers; you are God's field, you are God's building. According to the grace of God which was given to me, as a wise master builder I have laid the foundation, and another builds on it. But let each one take heed, how he builds on it.

• Ephesians 2:19-22 - Now, therefore, you are no longer strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God, having been built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ Himself being the chief corner stone, in whom the whole building, being joined together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord, in whom you also are being built together for a dwelling place of God in the Spirit.

    In both these references of the Born-Again Believers being God’s building, take note that it has not been referred to a completed work, but an ongoing process. In other words, the Church, or God’s building, is still “under-construction.” Believers are being added to it, and the designated people are carrying out their assigned jobs in the building. Paul says in 1 Corinthians 3:10 that he has laid the foundation, “and another builds on it;” implying that the work is being done sequentially by different people. Similarly in Ephesians 2:22 he writes “you also are being built together;” implying that different people are working together to do one task. The Church and its members are often accused of and criticized for their imperfections and fallibilities, instead of being “perfect” or impeccable, had they indeed belonged to God. But this is a false criticism, based on an erroneous notion, which can be understood through three facts. 

    As we see here, the Church is still “under-construction;” therefore is incomplete, and there will be imperfections in it. Secondly, as we have seen earlier, every Born-Again Christian Believer, starts his Christian life as a spiritual infant (1 Peter 2:2), and gradually, bit by bit, matures under the guidance of the Holy Spirit into the likeness of the Lord (2 Corinthians 3:18); therefore, there will always be some imperfection and immaturity, to some extent or the other, in him. Thirdly, as we saw while considering the third metaphor of the Church being the "Field of God,” Satan has sown his “tares” into the Church, which presently are growing alongside and mingled with the good seed planted by God. God has allowed the tares to grow with the good seed for now, but they will be separated away for eternal destruction at the judgement time. But for now, there will always be good and bad side by side in God’s field, the Church. Therefore, the collective effect of these three facts is that the Church and Believers appear to be imperfect, fallible, and often disappointing in various ways. But God is still at work in His Church, His family; presently, the building is “being built together for a dwelling place of God in the Spirit.”

    Take note of another thing the Holy Spirit has had Paul write down in 1 Corinthians 3:10 “as a wise master builder I have laid the foundation, and another builds on it.” In other words, this work is a collective effort of various God appointed laborers. Neither Paul, nor anyone else could do it all on his own; they all built along with each other, or upon what the others have done. This very strongly rejects the tendency of Believers to become followers of men - which Paul has already spoken strongly against (1 Corinthians 1:10-13; 3:3-4). In God’s Building, no minister, nor any member of the congregation can accord any superiority or undue importance to any worker in God’s Church, on their own, nor can he ask self or others to be a follower of that person. The laborers are all fellow workers, doing their assigned work, at the given time and place; and Paul has affirmed this by addressing his colleagues in ministry as his “fellow workers” (1 Corinthians 3:9, and many other times in his letters); so have Peter (1 Peter 5:1), and John (3 John 1:8). Those whom God has made officials in the Church, they too are to fulfill this responsibility humbly, not as officers, but as ministers (1 Peter 5:1-3).

    We will continue considering this topic in the next article.

    If you are a Christian Believer, then keep in mind that eventually, one day you will have to stand before the Lord Jesus and give an account of your life to Him. The present attitude of patience, forbearance, and long-suffering of the Lord does not mean that He will never take an account and will never appropriately deal with the disobedient and careless. While it is true that a Christian Believer will never lose his salvation; but his carelessness and disobedience surely will quite adversely affect his eternal rewards (1 Corinthians 3:13-15).

    If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord, make your decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now to ensure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Repenting of your sins, and asking the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily and sincerely, surrendering yourself to Him - is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life.  Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.

रूपक – 6 - परमेश्वर की दाख की बारी

 

    परमेश्वर ने प्रत्येक नया-जन्म पाए हुए मसीही विश्वासी को, उद्धार पाने साथ ही प्रदान की गई अन्य बातों के साथ ही अपने परिवार - अपनी एक्कलीसिया, यानि विश्वव्यापी सार्वभौमिक कलीसिया, का एक अंग बनाया है तथा उसे अपनी अन्य सन्तानों की सहभागिता प्रदान की है। इसलिए न केवल प्रत्येक विश्वासी, परमेश्वर द्वारा उसे दिए गए इन विशेषाधिकारों का भण्डारी है, वरन परमेश्वर द्वारा उसे दिए गए इन प्रावधानों के लिए, जो उसे अपना मसीही जीवन जीने तथा परमेश्वर द्वारा सौंपी गई सेवकाई को पूरा करने के लिए दिए गए हैं, परमेश्वर को उत्तरदायी भी है। इसलिए यह प्रत्येक विश्वासी के लिए अनिवार्य है कि वह परमेश्वर द्वारा उसे दी गई बातों के बारे में सीखे। वर्तमान में हम बाइबल में कलीसिया के बारे में दिए गए विभिन्न रूपकों से परमेश्वर की कलीसिया, तथा उसकी अन्य सन्तानों के साथ सहभागिता रखने के बारे में सीख रहे हैं। हमने आरंभ में जो सात रूपक सूचीबद्ध किये थे, पिछले लेखों में हम उन में से पाँच रूपकों को देख चुके हैं। आज हम इस सूची के सातवें रूपक, कलीसिया के परमेश्वर की दाख की बारी होने के संबंध में देखेंगे।

(6) परमेश्वर की दाख की बारी

    बाइबल के नए नियम खंड की पहली चार पुस्तकों, अर्थात प्रभु यीशु मसीह की जीवनियों में, प्रभु यीशु ने “दाख की बारी” से संबंधित कुछ दृष्टांत कहे हैं। किन्तु किसी भी दृष्टांत में, या फिर, बाद में बाइबल की अन्य पुस्तकों में, प्रभु यीशु की कलीसिया को, पहले पाँच रूपकों के समान, स्पष्टतः प्रभु की या परमेश्वर की दाख की बारी नहीं कहा गया है। पुराने नियम में परमेश्वर के लोगों, इस्राएल को “परमेश्वर की दाख की बारी” कहा गया है। क्योंकि वर्तमान में मसीही विश्वासी परमेश्वर के लोग, उसके ‘आत्मिक’ इस्राएल (इफिसियों 2:11-13) हैं, इसलिए दाख की बारी से संबंधित प्रभु के दृष्टान्तों को प्रभु यीशु की कलीसिया के संदर्भ में भी ले लिया जाता है। क्योंकि दाख की बारी से संबंधित इन दृष्टान्तों में दी गई शिक्षाएं मसीही जीवन और सेवकाई से संबंधित हैं, इसलिए उन्हें भी प्रभु यीशु की कलीसिया से संबंधित, तथा कलीसिया, उसके कार्यों या सेवकाइयों के लिये भी लागू मान लिया जाता है। हम भी यहाँ पर “दाख की बारी” से संबंधित प्रभु द्वारा दिए गए दृष्टांतों से कुछ शिक्षाएं लेंगे, जो मसीही जीवन, सेवकाई, और प्रभु के लिए उपयोगी होना सिखाती हैं।

    मत्ती 20:1-16 में एक गृहस्थ द्वारा लगाई गई दाख की बारी का दृष्टांत है, जिसमें कार्य करने के लिए वह सुबह से शाम, अर्थात आरंभ से लेकर अन्त तक, मजदूरों को ढूँढता और भेजता रहा। अर्थात, उस दाख की बारी को देखभाल की, उसमें कुछ-न-कुछ काम की आवश्यकता दिन के अन्त समय तक थी। उस दाख की बारी का स्वामी इस बात को जानता और समझता था, और वह ही अपनी बारी में काम के लिए मजदूरों को नियुक्त करता और भेजता रहा। प्रभु की कलीसिया में अभी भी बहुत से कार्य और सेवकाइयां करनी होती हैं, और प्रभु को अभी भी काम करने वाले सेवकों की आवश्यकता है, और यह आवश्यकता प्रभु के दूसरे आगमन तक बनी रहेगी। प्रभु की कलीसिया गतिहीन (static) नहीं, गतिशील (dynamic) है, अर्थात वह अभी भी निर्माणाधीन है, बढ़ रही है। जब तक अन्तिम विश्वासी उस में जोड़ नहीं दिया जाता है, और प्रभु की दुल्हन के रूप में उसके साथ खड़े होने के लिए तैयार नहीं कर दिया जाता है, कलीसिया निर्माणाधीन रहेगी। उसे देखभाल की, तथा शैतान के द्वारा उस पर निरंतर किए जाने वाले विभिन्न प्रकार के हमलों के कारण मरम्मत की आवश्यकता रहेगी। इसलिए प्रभु को अपनी कलीसिया में उसके लिए कार्य करते रहने वालों की भी आवश्यकता रहेगी।

    मत्ती 21:28-32 में, पिता की दाख की बारी में कार्य करने के लिए आज्ञाकारी तथा अनाज्ञाकारी और लापरवाह पुत्रों का दृष्टांत है। यह हमें सिखाता है कि परमेश्वर की कलीसिया में होने का अर्थ है परमेश्वर पिता की इच्छा के अनुसार कार्य करते रहना, उसका आज्ञाकारी बने रहना, न कि अनाज्ञाकारी और लापरवाह होना। 

    मत्ती 21:33-46 में दाख की बारी की देखभाल और उसके लिए उत्तरदायी होने से संबंधित दृष्टांत है, जिसे मरकुस 12:1-12 में और लूका 20:9-18 में भी लिखा गया है। प्रभु का यह दृष्टांत मुख्यतः उन धर्म के अगुवों के विरुद्ध था जिन्होंने परमेश्वर द्वारा उन्हें दिए गए दायित्व का ठीक से निर्वाह नहीं किया, परमेश्वर द्वारा भेजे गए नबियों का निरादर किया उन्हें मार डाला, और प्रभु को भी मार डालना चाहते थे। किन्तु हमारे लिए इस दृष्टांत में महत्वपूर्ण शिक्षा है - प्रभु परमेश्वर जब दायित्व देता है, तो फिर उसका हिसाब भी लेता है। मसीही जीवन लापरवाही और आत्म-संतुष्टि का, प्रभु और उसके कार्य को हल्के में लेने, और ठीक से न करने का जीवन नहीं है। सभी को अपने जीवन और कार्यों का हिसाब देना होगा (2 कुरिन्थियों 5:10), और बारीकी से यह आँकलन होने के अनुसार ही प्रत्येक विश्वासी अपने प्रतिफल पाएगा (1 कुरिन्थियों 3:13-15)।

    लूका 13:6-9 में प्रभु द्वारा दाख की बारी का एक और दृष्टांत है, जो दाख की बारी के स्वामी (परमेश्वर) के धैर्य और विलंब से कोप करने को, तथा बारी के रखवाले (प्रभु यीशु) के अपने लोगों के प्रति प्रेम और उनको फलवंत बनाने में प्रयासरत रहने को दिखाता है।

    ये सभी दृष्टांत अपने लोगों, अपनी “दाख की बारी” के प्रति परमेश्वर और प्रभु यीशु की लगन, प्रेम, और उनके लिए परिश्रम करने को, तथा प्रभु के लोगों से प्रभु की अपेक्षा को दिखाते हैं। सभी दृष्टांत प्रभु या परमेश्वर की “दाख की बारी” से संबंधित हैं; किसी भी दृष्टांत में प्रभु की दाख की बारी में, प्रभु के जाने बिना, स्वतः ही घुस आए या चुपके से लगा दिए गए लोगों का कोई उल्लेख नहीं है। प्रभु परमेश्वर उसके अपनी दाख की बारी, अपने लोगों की देखभाल और चिंता करता है; और अन्तिम पल तक करता रहेगा।

Metaphor – 6 - God’s Vineyard

 

    God has made every Born-Again Christian Believer, along with other things granted to him at salvation, a part of His Family - the Ekklesia, i.e., the worldwide universal Church, and has given him the fellowship of His other children. Therefore, not only is every Believer a steward of these privileges granted to him by God, but is also accountable to Him for fulfilling his stewardship and properly utilizing his God given resources, for living his Christian life as well carrying out his God given ministry. Hence it is imperative for every Believer to learn about the things God has given him. Presently, through the various metaphors given in the Bible for the Church, we are learning about God's Church and about fellowshipping with God’s other children. From the seven metaphors we had listed initially, we have so far considered five metaphors in the previous articles. Today we will consider the sixth metaphor of the list, being the Vineyard of God.

(6) God’s Vineyard

    In the New Testament section of the Bible, in its first four books, i.e., the Gospels – the biographies of the Lord Jesus, the Lord Jesus spoke some parables about “vineyards.” But in none of the parables, nor, later in any of the books of the Bible has the Church explicitly been called the “Vineyard of the Lord,” as has been the case with the first five metaphors that we have considered so far. In the Old Testament, the people of God, Israel, have been called the “Vineyard of God.” Since now, the Christian Believers are the people of God, His ‘spiritual’ Israel (Ephesians 2:11-13), therefore, the vineyard parables of the Lord Jesus are also taken for the Church of the Lord Jesus. Since the teachings given by the Lord in these ‘vineyard parables’ are meant for Christian living and ministry, therefore they are also seen as related to the Church of the Lord Jesus, and the teachings from these parables are applicable to the Church and its work or ministries. Here, we too will consider some teachings concerning the Christian life, ministry, and being useful for the Lord Jesus from the Lord’s parables.

    Matthew 20:1-16 is a parable about a landowner who planted a vineyard; he kept looking for and sending into the vineyard people to work, from morning till evening. Meaning, there always was some opportunity or the other for work in the vineyard, till the end of the day. The landowner knew and understood this; therefore, he kept appointing laborers and sending them into the vineyard to work. In the Church of the Lord Jesus too, there are many works and ministries even today, and the need for laborers for these works and ministries will remain till the second coming of the Lord. The Lord’s Church is not static, but is dynamic, i.e., it is still being formed and growing. Till the last Believer is added to it, and till he is made ready to stand with the Lord as His Bride, the Church will remain “under-construction.” It needs constant care and protection, and even repairs where it has been damaged by attacks from Satan and his forces. Therefore, the Lord needs people to continue to work in His Church and for its functions.

    In the parable of Matthew 21:28-32, where a father asks his sons to go work in his vineyard, the Lord taught about the obedient and the disobedient and careless children. Which gives us the lesson that being in the Church of God is about working according to the will of God the Father, and being obedient to Him, instead of being casual and disobedient.

    In Matthew 21:33-46 is a parable about taking care of the vineyard and being accountable for the assigned work; this parable has also been stated in Mark 12:1-2 and Luke 20:9-18. The Lord gave this parable mainly about those religious leaders who did not fulfil their responsibilities towards God, they insulted and even killed the prophets God sent to them, and were getting ready to kill even the Son, the Lord Jesus Christ. For us, there is a very important lesson in this parable, when God gives a responsibility, He also takes an account of it. The Christian life is not a life of being careless and complacent, of taking the Lord’s work and ministries lightly, not doing them diligently. Every Believer will have to give an account of their lives and the work they have done (2 Corinthians 5:10), and every Believer will receive their rewards according to a minute evaluation of their works (1 Corinthians 3:13-15).

    In Luke 13:6-9, there is another parable of the Lord related to the vineyard, which illustrates about the patience and longsuffering of the owner of the vineyard (God), and the love of the ‘keeper of the vineyard’ (Lord Jesus) for His people and how He continues to labor and strive to make His people fruitful and useful.

    All these parables speak of the Lord’s expectations from His people, about the labor, diligence, and love of the Lord for His people. All these parables are related to “God’s Vineyard”; none of these parables mentions any self-planted infiltrators in the vineyard, nor anyone being planted surreptitiously, without the Lord’s knowledge. The Lord God takes care of, and looks after His vineyard, i.e., His people; and will continue doing so till the last moment.

    If you are a Christian Believer, then keep in mind that eventually, one day you will have to stand before the Lord Jesus and give an account of your life to Him. The present attitude of patience, forbearance, and long-suffering of the Lord does not mean that He will never take an account and will never appropriately deal with the disobedient and careless. While it is true that a Christian Believer will never lose his salvation; but his carelessness and disobedience surely will quite adversely affect his eternal rewards (1 Corinthians 3:13-15).

    If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord, make your decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now to ensure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Repenting of your sins, and asking the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily and sincerely, surrendering yourself to Him - is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life.  Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.

    किसी वस्तु का योग्य रीति से उपयोग कर पाने के लिए, व्यक्ति को उसके बारे में, उसकी उपयोगिता के बारे में, और उसे उपयोग करते समय उसकी कोई हानि न हो इसलिए उसके प्रति रखी जाने वाली सावधानियों के बारे में जानना होता है। यह तब और भी अधिक महत्वपूर्ण हो जाता है जब व्यक्ति को उस वस्तु का भण्डारी बनाया गया हो, और उसे उस वस्तु के उपयोग का लेखा भी देना हो। जैसा कि पिछले लेखों में हम देख चुके हैं, परमेश्वर ने प्रत्येक नया जन्म पाए हुए मसीही विश्वासी को कम से कम चार बातें दी हैं, ताकि वह अपने मसीही जीवन और परमेश्वर द्वारा उसे सौंपी गई सेवकाई का सही निर्वाह कर सके; और हर विश्वासी उन बातों का भण्डारी है, उन के लिए परमेश्वर को उत्तरदायी है । ये चार बातें हैं – परमेश्वर का वचन; परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा; परमेश्वर की कलीसिया और उसकी सन्तानों की सहभागिता; और परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा का कोई न कोई वरदान। अभी तक हम परमेश्वर के वचन और परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा के बारे में देख चुके हैं, और वर्तमान में परमेश्वर की कलीसिया तथा उसकी सन्तानों की सहभागिता के भण्डारी होने के बारे में, बाइबल में कलीसिया के लिए उपयोग किये गए रूपकों से सीख रहे हैं। हम बाइबल में दिए गए सात रूपकों में से पहले चार रूपकों को पिछले लेखों में देख चुके हैं। आज हम इस सूची के पाँचवें रूपक, कलीसिया के प्रभु की दुल्हन होने के संबंध में देखेंगे।

(5) प्रभु की दुल्हन

    परमेश्वर के वचन बाइबल में कलीसिया को प्रभु यीशु की दुल्हन भी कहा गया है। पति-पत्नी का संबंध सभी सांसारिक संबंधों में से सब से अंतरंग संबंध है। सृष्टि के आरंभ के समय से ही, परमेश्वर ने इस संबंध की अन्य हर संबंध के ऊपर प्राथमिकता को और दोनों की परस्पर घनिष्ठता को हव्वा की रचना करने के साथ ही बता दिया था, “इस कारण पुरुष अपने माता पिता को छोड़कर अपनी पत्नी से मिला रहेगा और वे एक तन बने रहेंगे” (उत्पत्ति 2:24)। परमेश्वर के वचन बाइबल के पुराने नियम खंड में, मूसा में होकर परमेश्वर द्वारा दी गई व्यवस्था में, याजकों को अन्य सभी इस्राएलियों से विशिष्ट स्तर दिया गया, और उन्हें परमेश्वर के प्रति पूर्णतः समर्पित और आज्ञाकारी तथा शुद्ध और पवित्र बने रहने के लिए कहा गया। साथ ही उन्हें किसी वेश्या, या भ्रष्ट स्त्री को अथवा किसी तलाक-शुदा, या त्यागी हुई से विवाह करने के लिए मना किया गया (लैव्यव्यवस्था 21:6-8)। जैसे आज प्रभु यीशु मसीह परमेश्वर और अपनी कलीसिया के मध्य कार्य कर रहा है, उस समय याजक परमेश्वर और मनुष्यों के मध्य, परमेश्वर का वह दूत था (मलाकी 2:7); जो परमेश्वर के लोगों तक परमेश्वर का वचन पहुँचाता था, और उनकी ओर से लोगों की प्रार्थनाएं एवं बलिदान परमेश्वर को अर्पित करता था। इसीलिए प्रभु यीशु मसीह को, उसकी सेवकाई के आधार पर, अपने विश्वासियों के लिए नए नियम में “महायाजक” भी कहा गया है (इब्रानियों 3:1; 5:5; 9:11)। तात्पर्य यह कि पुराने नियम के याजक एक प्रकार से प्रभु यीशु मसीह का प्रतिरूप थे। यदि व्यवस्था के अंतर्गत याजकों को भ्रष्ट, या वेश्या, या त्यागी हुई स्त्री से विवाह करने के अनुमति होती, तो यह सांकेतिक रीति से प्रभु की कलीसिया, उसकी दुल्हन में ऐसे व्यवहार या चरित्र को स्वीकृति प्रदान करना हो जाता, जो फिर आज की कलीसिया के शुद्ध और पवित्र होने से पूर्णतः असंगत एवं अस्वीकार्य हो जाता।     

    इस रूपक से संबंधित बाइबल के कुछ वचनों पर ध्यान कीजिए:

• “क्योंकि मैं तुम्हारे विषय में ईश्वरीय धुन लगाए रहता हूं, इसलिये कि मैं ने एक ही पुरुष से तुम्हारी बात लगाई है, कि तुम्हें पवित्र कुंवारी के समान मसीह को सौंप दूं” (2 कुरिन्थियों 11:2)।

• “हे पतियों, अपनी अपनी पत्नी से प्रेम रखो, जैसा मसीह ने भी कलीसिया से प्रेम कर के अपने आप को उसके लिये दे दिया। कि उसको वचन के द्वारा जल के स्नान से शुद्ध कर के पवित्र बनाए। और उसे एक ऐसी तेजस्वी कलीसिया बना कर अपने पास खड़ी करे, जिस में न कलंक, न झुर्री, न कोई ऐसी वस्तु हो, वरन पवित्र और निर्दोष हो” (इफिसियों 5:25-27)।

• “इस कारण मनुष्य माता पिता को छोड़कर अपनी पत्नी से मिला रहेगा, और वे दोनों एक तन होंगे। यह भेद तो बड़ा है; पर मैं मसीह और कलीसिया के विषय में कहता हूं। पर तुम में से हर एक अपनी पत्नी से अपने समान प्रेम रखे, और पत्नी भी अपने पति का भय माने” (इफिसियों 5:31-33)।

    प्रभु यीशु और कलीसिया के संबंध को पति-पत्नी के संबंध के समान बताया गया है (इफिसियों 5:31-33)। प्रकट एवं स्पष्ट है कि 2 कुरिन्थियों 11:2 की बात, ऊपर कही गई याजकों के विवाह और प्रभु यीशु के महायाजक होने के साथ पूर्णतः मेल खाती है, उसकी पूरक है। न याजक भ्रष्ट हो सकता था, और न ही उसकी दुल्हन; न प्रभु यीशु में कोई अशुद्धता या अपवित्रता है, और न ही उसकी दुल्हन, उसकी कलीसिया में हो सकती है। किन्तु प्रभु की वर्तमान दुल्हन हम शारीरिक और पाप से दूषित लोगों के, पापों से पश्चाताप करने और नया जन्म पाकर, पाप और संसार से निकाले जाने के द्वारा बनी है। इसीलिए प्रभु आज स्वयं ही उसे अपने वचन के द्वारा शुद्ध, पवित्र, निष्कलंक, निर्दोष, बेझुर्री, और तेजस्वी बना रहा है, जिससे कि प्रभु की दुल्हन प्रभु के साथ खड़ी हो सके (इफिसियों 5:26-27)। इसीलिए विश्वासियों से कहा गया है कि वे अपने आप को एक पूर्णतः नई सृष्टि समझें, जहाँ पुरानी सभी बातें बीत गई हैं; और वे प्रभु को पूर्णतः समर्पित होकर, उन्हें छुड़ाने वाले के लिए ही अपने जीवन जीएँ (2 कुरिन्थियों 5:15, 17)।

    एक बार फिर, कलीसिया का यह रूपक, और बताए गए उसके गुण इस बात को प्रकट कर देते हैं कि वास्तविक कलीसिया वही है जो प्रभु यीशु ने बनाई है तथा बना रहा है, और जिसे वह स्वयं ही शुद्ध और पवित्र कर रहा है। अन्य कोई भी ‘कलीसिया’ सांसारिक रीतियों और शब्दों के दुरुपयोग द्वारा ‘प्रभु की कलीसिया’ कहकर संबोधित तो की जा सकती है, किन्तु जिस कलीसिया में प्रभु द्वारा की जा रही शुद्धि, वचन का स्नान, पवित्रता में और प्रभु के प्रति समर्पण एवं उसकी निकटता में निरन्तर बढ़ते चले जाना, नहीं देखा जाता है, प्रकट है कि प्रभु उसे अपने साथ खड़े होने के लिए तैयार नहीं कर रहा है; अर्थात वह प्रभु यीशु द्वारा स्थापित, उसके द्वारा बुलाए और चुने हुए लोगों से बनी उसकी कलीसिया नहीं है। 

    प्रभु यीशु की कलीसिया से संबंधित यह रूपक, कलीसिया के लिए प्रभु परमेश्वर की ओर से प्रदान की गई एक अति-महान और अभूतपूर्व आशीष को भी हमारे सामने लाता है। ध्यान कीजिए, मसीही विश्वास (ईसाई या मसीही धर्म नहीं, वरन विश्वास) के अतिरिक्त संसार के अन्य सभी मत, धर्म, धारणाएं, आदि मनुष्यों से कहते हैं कि उन्हें पहले अपने ही प्रयासों से शुद्ध और पवित्र होना पड़ेगा, और तब ही वे उस मत, धर्म, धारणाओं को मानने और पालन करने वालों के इष्ट-देव के पास आ सकते हैं, उसे प्रसन्न कर सकते हैं। और लोग इसके लिए न जाने कितने प्रकार के प्रयास और कार्य करते रहते हैं, किन्तु उस वांछित एवं स्थाई शुद्धता और पवित्रता को प्राप्त नहीं करने पाते हैं। किन्तु इसके विपरीत, केवल मसीही विश्वास (न कि धर्म) ही समस्त मानव जाति को यह आश्वासन और प्रतिज्ञा देता है कि जो भी प्रभु यीशु के पास आएगा, वह चाहे जैसा भी है, उसने चाहे कैसा भी जीवन जिया हो, प्रभु यीशु उसे उसकी उसी दशा में ग्रहण करके फिर स्वयं ही उसे शुद्ध और पवित्र करेगा, अपने साथ खड़े होने योग्य बनाएगा - जो उसके लोग बन जाते हैं, अर्थात उसे समर्पित हो जाते हैं, उनका उद्धार भी वह स्वयं ही करता है, उसके नाम का यही अभिप्राय है (मत्ती 1:21), और फिर स्वयं ही उन्हें शुद्ध, पवित्र, निष्कलंक, निर्दोष, बेझुर्री, और तेजस्वी बनाता है। 

    यदि आप एक मसीही विश्वासी हैं, तो अपने आप को जाँच कर देखिए कि आप परमेश्वर के वचन से कितना प्रेम करते हैं? आप बाइबल को अपने जीवन में क्या स्थान और महत्व देते हैं? आप कितना समय बाइबल के पढ़ने और अध्ययन करने में लगाते हैं? क्योंकि प्रभु यीशु द्वारा उससे प्रेम करने वालों की यही एकमात्र पहचान, एकमात्र चिह्न दिया गया है - विश्वासी का वचन से प्रेम (यूहन्ना 14:21, 23)। साथ ही, अपने आत्मिक स्तर को परखने के लिए अपनी क्रमिक आत्मिक बढ़ोतरी को देखिए, कि पिछले समय की तुलना में, आज आप मसीह यीशु की निकटता में, उसके साथ घनिष्ठता में, कितने बढ़े हैं; और बढ़ते जा रहे हैं या कहीं किसी स्तर पर आ कर अटक गए हैं? क्या आप वचन के स्नान द्वारा धोए जाकर प्रभु यीशु द्वारा शुद्ध और पवित्र होते जा रहे हैं (यूहन्ना 13:8), पुरानी बुराइयों से निकलकर मसीही जीवन की नवीनता में बढ़ते जा रहे हैं कि नहीं? यदि प्रभु आपके जीवन में कार्य नहीं कर रहा है, आपको अपनी समानता में परिवर्तित (2 कुरिन्थियों 3:18) नहीं करता जा रहा है, तो आपको बहुत गंभीरता से अपने ‘मसीही विश्वासी’ होने पर विचार करने (2 कुरिन्थियों 13:5), बारीकी से अपने मसीही जीवन का आँकलन करने, और जो भी त्रुटि है, घटी है, उसे सुधारने की आवश्यकता है। इसे व्यर्थ मत समझिए, अभी समय और अवसर रहते यह कर लीजिए, कहीं टालना या इसे अनुचित एवं अनावश्यक समझना आपके लिए बहुत हानिकारक और अनन्तकाल के लिए पीड़ादायक न हो जाए।

    To worthily utilize something, one needs to learn about it, know its importance, and the precautions required to see that it does not come to any harm. This becomes all the more important, if one has been made a steward of that thing, and will have to give an account of how he has put it to use. As we have seen before, every Born-Again Christian Believer has been given at least four things by God, for living his Christian life and fulfilling his God appointed ministry, and he is their steward, accountable to God for them. These things are – God’s Word; God the Holy Spirit; God’s Church and fellowship with God’s children; and some gift of God the Holy Spirit. We have already learnt about the stewardship of God’s Word and God’s Holy Spirit, and are presently learning about being steward of God’s Church and fellowshipping with God’s children, through the metaphors used for the Church in the Bible. From the seven metaphors given in the Bible, we have considered the first four metaphors in the previous articles. Today we will consider the fifth metaphor, being the Bride of Christ.

(5) The Bride of Christ

    In the Word of God, the Church has also been called the Bride of the Lord Jesus. The relationship between husband and wife is the most intimate of all human relationships. From the beginning, since the creation of Eve, God has declared this to be primary relationship that supersedes all other relationships and be the most intimate between the husband and wife, “Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh” (Genesis 2:24). In the Old Testament section of the Bible, in the Law given by God through Moses, the Priests were given a very special place amongst all the Israelites, and they were told to remain completely surrendered and committed to God, to always be pure and holy. They were also instructed never to marry any harlot, or defiled, or divorced, i.e., a cast-away woman (Leviticus 21:6-8). As the Lord functions today between God and His Church, at that time it was the priest who served the same function between God and men (Malachi 2:7); serving as God’s messenger for men, and offering the prayers and sacrifices of men before God. That is why, on the basis of His ministry amongst His people, the Lord Jesus has also been called the “High Priest” (Hebrews 3:1; 5:5; 9:11). The implication is that the priests of the Old Testament were a type of, a representation of, the Lord Jesus. If in the Law, the priests had been permitted to marry a harlot, or a defiled, or a divorced woman, then it would symbolically have been a sanction for the Church or Bride of Christ to be of similar character as well. This then would have rendered the instruction for the Church to be pure and holy, totally inconsistent and therefore unacceptable.

    Consider some Bible verses related to this metaphor:

• “For I am jealous for you with godly jealousy. For I have betrothed you to one husband, that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ” (2 Corinthians 11:2).

• “Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her, that He might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the word, that He might present her to Himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that she should be holy and without blemish” (Ephesians 5:25-27).

• “"For this reason, a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh." This is a great mystery, but I speak concerning Christ and the church. Nevertheless, let each one of you in particular so love his own wife as himself, and let the wife see that she respects her husband” (Ephesians 5:31-33).

 

    The relationship between the Lord Jesus and His Church has been stated as the relationship of a husband and wife (Ephesians 5:31-33). It is quite evident that what has been said in 2 Corinthians 11:2 is very consistent with, and also fulfills the Lord Jesus being the High Priest. Neither could the Priest have been defiled, nor could he have a defiled woman as wife. But the present bride of Christ Jesus is made up of us Christian Believers, who, in their flesh, are carnal and defiled, brought out from the sin corrupted world, through repentance from sins and being Born-Again. That is why the Lord Himself is preparing and cleansing His bride through His Word, to make it pure, holy, without spot or blemish, and glorious, so that it will be able to stand with Him (Ephesians 5:26-27). That is why the Believers have been asked to consider themselves as a new creation, where all old things have passed away; and live their lives as fully consecrated to the Lord, for Him, their redeemer (2 Corinthians 5:15, 17).

    Once more, this metaphor for the Church of the Lord makes it clear that the actual Church is the one that the Lord Himself has built and is building; the one that the Lord is making pure and holy. Any other ‘church’ may be called ‘the church of Jesus Christ’ on the basis of certain worldly traditions, man-made rituals, and by misuse of words for calling it to be Lord’s Church; but if in that ‘church’ the purification and cleansing done by the Lord Jesus through the washing of water by the word, the church’s progressively increasing in holiness and nearness to the Lord, and remaining fully surrendered and committed to the Lord Jesus is not seen, then how can it be ready to stand with the Lord Jesus? Evidently, such a ‘church’ despite all its claims, is not the Church of the Lord Jesus.

    This metaphor of the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ also brings before us a great and unforeseen blessing granted by the Lord God to His people. Remember and recall that other than the Christian Faith (not Christian religion but faith), every religion, belief, concept etc. tells the people to somehow first cleanse themselves, to become pure and holy, only then can they approach their deity and please it. Therefore, their followers keep on doing so many different works and efforts for this, but are never able to reach that desired state of purity and holiness, nor maintain whatever they think that they have achieved through their works. In stark contrast, it is only the Christian Faith (not religion) that offers to all of mankind this assurance and promise that whoever comes to the Lord Jesus, whatever he may have been like in the past, the Lord will accept him as he is and will Himself purify him, make him holy, and make him one who will stand by the Lord’s side as a part of His Bride - those who become His people, i.e., surrender themselves to Him, the Lord Himself saves them, for that is what is the meaning of His name (Matthew 1:21), and then makes them pure, holy, without spot or blemish or wrinkle, and glorious.

    If you are a Christian Believer, then examine yourself and see how much do you love the Word of God? What place does the Bible have in your life? How much time do you spend reading and studying the Bible? There is only one criterion given by the Lord Jesus of recognizing the love a Believer has for the Lord - the Believer’s love for the Bible (John 14:21, 23); the Believer’s love for the Bible is the measure of his love for the Lord. Another thing for you to evaluate your spiritual state is your progressive spiritual growth, i.e., in comparison to your state sometime back, how much have you grown or increased in your closeness and intimacy with the Lord Jesus; and are you continually progressing in your Christian life and living, or have you become stagnant at some point? Are you daily and regularly being washed by the Word of God; i.e., are your impurities of worldly things and attachments being taken away, and are you being purified and made holy by the Lord Jesus (John 13:8)? If the Lord is not working in your life, if He is not gradually, bit by bit, changing you into His likeness (2 Corinthians 3:18), then you very seriously need to reconsider and evaluate your being a “Christian Believer” (2 Corinthians 13:5), identify all that needs to be rectified, and do that rectification now, while you have the time and opportunity. Do not think it to be a vain exercise, nor ignore or procrastinate doing this; else the consequences can be very harmful and painful for eternity. 

    If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord, make your decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now to ensure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Repenting of your sins, and asking the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily and sincerely, surrendering yourself to Him - is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life.  Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.
