निष्कर्ष - 1 कुरिन्थियों 12:28-31
हम पिछले लेखों में 1 कुरिन्थियों 12:28 में सूचीबद्ध किए गए कुछ आत्मिक वरदानों के बारे में देखते आ रहे हैं। यह पद हमें बताता है कि “परमेश्वर ने कलीसिया में अलग अलग व्यक्ति नियुक्त किए हैं...", और फिर कलीसिया में उपयोग के लिये उन व्यक्तियों तथा उनको दिए गए वरदानों की सूची दी गई है। इस आरंभिक वाक्यांश में कुछ बातें ध्यान से देखने और विचार करने योग्य हैं:
आत्मिक वरदान जैसा कि पहले 1 कुरिन्थियों 12:11 में बताया गया है, परमेश्वर द्वारा दिए जाते हैं। इफिसियों 2:10 में लिखा है कि परमेश्वर ने अपने प्रत्येक विश्वासी के लिए पहले से ही कुछ-न-कुछ भले कार्य निर्धारित कर रखे हैं। परमेश्वर के लोगों के द्वारा उन भले कार्यों को सुचारु रीति से करने के लिए, उन कार्यों में उनकी सहायता के लिए, परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा उन्हें परमेश्वर द्वारा निर्धारित उनकी सेवकाई के अनुसार कुछ आत्मिक वरदान बाँट देता है। ये वरदान व्यक्ति की इच्छा के अनुसार नहीं, वरन, परमेश्वर द्वारा किए गए निर्धारण के अनुसार हैं; केवल वही इनके विषय निर्णय करता है।
इन आत्मिक वरदानों का प्रयोग ‘कलीसिया’ के लाभ के लिए है, जैसा कि पहले 1 कुरिन्थियों 12:7 में भी बताया गया है। परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा की ओर से दिया गया कोई भी वरदान किसी व्यक्ति के अपने व्यक्तिगत प्रयोग के लिए, अथवा लोगों में अपने आप को विशिष्ट, अथवा उच्च या महत्वपूर्ण दिखाने के लिए, प्रदर्शन करने के लिए नहीं है। सभी वरदान कलीसिया यानि कि मसीही विश्वासियों की मण्डली की भलाई के लिए उपयोग करने के लिए दिए गए हैं। कोई भी व्यक्ति यह दावा नहीं कर सकता है कि उसने कुछ विशेष, अथवा औरों से उत्तम पाया है। सभी वरदान परमेश्वर की ओर से हैं, समान महत्व के हैं, बड़े या छोटे नहीं हैं; और न ही कोई मसीही विश्वासी परमेश्वर की दृष्टि में कम अथवा अधिक महत्वपूर्ण है - जिसके अनुसार वह उन्हें कोई वरदान दे। सभी विश्वासी परमेश्वर के लिए समान हैं, वह सभी से समान प्रेम करता है। सभी पापों के लिए पश्चाताप करने और प्रभु यीशु से पापों की क्षमा माँगकर उसे समर्पण करने के द्वारा मसीही बने हैं, अपनी किसी भी योग्यता अथवा गुण या विशेषता के कारण नहीं।
अलग-अलग आत्मिक वरदानों के प्रयोग के लिए परमेश्वर ने अलग-अलग व्यक्ति नियुक्त किए हैं। अर्थात, न तो एक ही व्यक्ति को सभी वरदान दिए गए हैं; और न ही सभी व्यक्तियों को एक ही वरदान दिया गया है। जिसकी जैसी सेवकाई परमेश्वर ने निर्धारित की, उसी के अनुसार उसे वरदान भी दे दिए गए। पद 28 के इस आरंभिक वाक्यांश में स्पष्ट लिखा है “नियुक्त किए हैं”; अभिप्राय यह कि किसी भी व्यक्ति ने कोई भी सेवकाई अथवा कोई भी वरदान किसी रीति से अपने लिए चुने अथवा कमाए नहीं है। जिसे जो भी दिया गया, वह परमेश्वर की ओर से, परमेश्वर की योजना के अनुसार दिया गया है। उस व्यक्ति की आशीष उसे दी गए सेवकाई को, उसे दिए गए वरदान की सहायता से भली-भांति करने से, उनके द्वारा परमेश्वर की आज्ञाकारिता एवं महिमा करने से है; न कि औरों की सेवकाई और वरदानों के लिए लालसा और माँग करने से।
इस आरंभिक वाक्यांश के बाद दी गई सूची, कलीसिया में वरदानों के उपयोग किए जाने के अनुसार है, अर्थात जो वरदान अधिक उपयोग किए जाते हैं, उन्हें पहले बताया गया है और जो कम उपयोग होते हैं, उन्हें बाद में बताया गया है। किन्तु अपने-अपने स्थान और प्रयोग के समय के अनुसार प्रत्येक वरदान अन्य के बराबर ही महत्वपूर्ण है। सबसे कम प्रयोग किए जाने वाले अन्य भाषा बोलने वाले वरदान को सबसे बाद में रखा गया है, और वचन से संबंधित सेवकाई के वरदानों को पहले तीन स्थानों पर रखा गया है। किन्तु जब कोई विदेशी प्रचारक आए, जिसके अनुवाद के लिए उसकी भाषा बोलने वाले सेवक की आवश्यकता हो, तो जिसके पास यह अन्य भाषा से संबंधित वरदान है, उसकी उपयोगिता और महत्व पहले तीनों वरदानों के समान है प्रकट हो जाता है। इसीलिए, सेवकाई और संबंधित वरदान कम अथवा अधिक महत्व के नहीं हैं, किन्तु उन्हें कलीसिया के कार्यों में सामान्यतः कितना अधिक अथवा कम प्रयोग करने की आवश्यकता पड़ती है, उसी के अनुसार वरदानों को यहाँ सूचीबद्ध किया गया है।
अलग-अलग व्यक्तियों को अलग-अलग वरदान दिए जाने को फिर पद 29 से पद 31 के आरंभ में कुछ आलंकारिक प्रश्नों (rhetorical questions) के द्वारा दोहराया और समझाया गया है कि न तो सभी को एक ही वरदान दिया गया है, और न ही किसी एक को सभी वरदान दिए गए हैं। [आलंकारिक प्रश्न (rhetorical question) वे प्रश्न होते हैं, जिनके ‘हाँ’, अथवा ‘न’ में उत्तर, प्रश्न और उसके संदर्भ में पहले से ही निहित होते हैं, और पाठक या श्रोता को उस प्रश्न का कोई उत्तर स्वयं नहीं देना होता है, वरन वे उस प्रश्न के संदर्भ से उस पूर्व-निहित एवं निर्धारित उत्तर को समझ जाते हैं।]। मूल यूनानी भाषा में इन प्रश्नों को नकारात्मक भाव के साथ लिखा गया है, अर्थात, इन सभी प्रश्नों का उत्तर ‘नहीं’ ही है। इस आलंकारिक भाषा के प्रयोग के द्वारा पवित्र आत्मा ने पौलुस में होकर यह स्थापित किया है कि अलग-अलग विश्वासियों को अलग-अलग वरदान दिए गए हैं, और सभी विश्वासियों को एक ही वरदान नहीं दिया गया है; इसलिए सभी विश्वासियों में एक ही वरदान की उपस्थिति की अपेक्षा करना परमेश्वर के वचन के विरुद्ध है, गलत है। इसलिए परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा के संबंध में गलत शिक्षाओं के सिखाने और फैलाने वालों के लिए यह ध्यान देने, और समझने तथा वचन से सीखकर पालन करने की बात है कि वे सभी को एक ही वरदान - अन्य भाषा बोलना, मांगने या प्राप्त करने की शिक्षा देकर, और वह भी बहुत बलपूर्वक और दृढ़ता के साथ, वचन की अनदेखी कर रहे हैं, वचन के विपरीत बात सिखा रहे हैं, लोगों को झूठी बातों से बहका और भरमा रहे हैं। और परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा, जो सत्य का आत्मा (यूहन्ना 14:17) है, वह वचन के विरुद्ध न तो कभी सिखाएगा, और न ही कभी करेगा। साथ ही, वचन में जिन ‘अन्य-भाषाओं’ की बात की गई है वे पृथ्वी के ही किसी अन्य क्षेत्र अथवा स्थान की भाषाएं हैं, कोई अलौकिक या पृथ्वी के बाहर की भाषाएं नहीं हैं (प्रेरितों 2:1-11)। साथ ही प्रभु यीशु मसीह ने कहा है कि शैतान ही प्रत्येक झूठ का पिता है, प्रत्येक असत्य उसी की ओर से होता है (यूहन्ना 8:44)। इसलिए उनकी ये, तथा अन्य संबंधित गलत शिक्षाएं, पवित्र आत्मा की ओर से नहीं हैं, वरन शैतान की ओर से किया गया छलावा हैं, जिस में से उन्हें बाहर आ जाना चाहिए।
और तब पद 31 से, जिसका उपयोग पवित्र आत्मा से संबंधित गलत शिक्षाएं फैलाने वाले मन-चाहे वरदान मांगने और प्राप्त करने की अपनी एक और गलत शिक्षा को सही ठहराने के लिए करते हैं, हम देख चुके हैं कि उनकी यह धारणा सत्य नहीं है। इस पद को उसके संदर्भ में देखने और समझने से यह प्रकट है कि यह प्रत्येक मसीही विश्वासी के मण्डली में अधिक से अधिक उपयोगी होने के अभिप्राय से कहा गया है, आत्मिक वरदान बदलवाने के लिए नहीं। इस पद को अन्य पदों के साथ और उसके संदर्भ में देखने से यह प्रकट हो जाता है कि यहाँ जो “बड़े से बड़े वरदान” वाक्यांश का प्रयोग किया गया है, उसका अभिप्राय कलीसिया या मण्डली में अधिक से अधिक ज़िम्मेदारी वाले वरदान के लिए है। अर्थात पौलुस में होकर परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा मसीही विश्वासियों को यह बता रहा है कि मसीही मण्डली में अधिक से अधिक ज़िम्मेदारी उठाने वाले, यानि कि प्रभु के लिए अधिक से अधिक उपयोग में आने वाले व्यक्ति होने की ‘धुन’ में रहो या लालसा रखो। यदि इसे वरदानों और सेवकाइयों के बड़े-छोटे होने के लिए समझा जाए तो फिर पद 12-27 में दी गई चर्चा व्यर्थ है; फिर तो प्रभु की मण्डली रूपी देह में सभी समान महत्व के नहीं हैं, और पवित्र आत्मा ने बड़े या छोटे आत्मिक वरदान देने के द्वारा भेद-भाव किया है; तथा मनुष्य द्वारा परमेश्वर को अपने निर्णय बदलने के लिये बाध्य किया जा सकता है। और इन में से कोई भी बात परमेश्वर के स्वरूप और वचन की शिक्षाओं के साथ बिल्कुल मेल नहीं खाती है, इसलिए स्वीकार्य भी नहीं है। साथ ही, यदि यह कहा जाए कि यह पद व्यक्ति द्वारा अपनी इच्छा के अनुसार वरदान माँगने और पाने को सिखा रहा है, तो ध्यान कीजिए कि यह पद केवल “धुन में रहने” के लिए कह रहा है। इस पद में कोई आश्वासन नहीं है कि परमेश्वर उस व्यक्ति की वह ‘धुन” पूरी करने के लिये बाध्य है, और करेगा भी। न ही वचन में कहीं पर ऐसा कोई उदाहरण है कि किसी मसीही विश्वासी के मांगने पर उसकी सेवकाई या वरदान बदल दिए गए। और न ही किसी अन्य स्थान पर ऐसी कोई शिक्षा प्रभु ने अथवा पत्रियों के लेखकों में से किसी ने दी है। इसलिए परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा के नाम से ऐसी किसी ‘धुन’ के पूरा किए जाने की शिक्षा भी असत्य है, परमेश्वर की ओर से नहीं है, और यह सिखाना वचन का दुरुपयोग करना है, परमेश्वर के नाम में लोगों को बहकाना और भरमाना है।
यदि आप मसीही विश्वासी हैं, तो ध्यान कीजिए कि आपके लिए कितना महत्वपूर्ण और अनिवार्य है कि आप परमेश्वर के वचन की हर बात को उसके संदर्भ के साथ, मूल भाषा के शब्दों के अर्थ को समझते हुए, उसकी वास्तविकता में समझें; न कि मन-गढ़न्त धारणाओं और गलत शिक्षाओं, असत्य को बताने और फैलाने वालों की बातों में आकर उनके छलावे में फंस जाएं (2 कुरिन्थियों 2:11)। क्योंकि वचन का दुरुपयोग करके लोगों को बहका कर पाप में फंसाना शैतान की बहुत पुरानी और परखी हुई युक्ति है (2 कुरिन्थियों 11:3, 13-15), जिसे वह अदन की वाटिका से प्रयोग करता आ रहा है (उत्पत्ति 3:1-6); यहाँ तक कि उसने इसे प्रभु यीशु के विरुद्ध भी प्रयोग करने का प्रयास किया था (मत्ती 4:1-11)। यदि आपके साथ भी वह अपनी इस युक्ति में सफल हुआ तो आपको लगेगा कि आप सही मार्ग पर हैं, किन्तु शैतान आपको गलत मार्ग पर लिए चल रहा होगा। और अन्ततः जब आँख खुलेगी, और सही समझ आएगी, तब तक बहुत देर हो चुकी होगी।
यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

Conclusion - 1 Corinthians 12:28-31
In the previous articles we have been seeing about the Spiritual gifts listed in 1 Corinthians 12:28. This verse starts by telling us “God has appointed these in the church…”, and then goes on to state the appointed ministries and Spiritual gifts for use in the Church. There are somethings in this opening sentence of this verse that should be taken note of and always kept in mind. They are:
As has been stated in 1 Corinthians 12:11, all Spiritual gifts are given by God. It is written in Ephesians 2:10 that God has already determined some good works or the other for every Christian Believer. To enable and help God’s people to carry out those good works worthily and properly, God the Holy Spirit gives every Christian Believer appropriate Spiritual gifts. These gifts are not given according to the desire of the person, but according to the assignment given by God; and He is the only one who decides about the gifts – who gets what, and why.
These gifts are meant to be utilized for the benefit of the people of the Church, as has been stated in 1 Corinthians 12:7. None of the Spiritual gifts given by God the Holy Spirit are meant for any personal use by anyone, nor for using them to show any person as being special, extra-ordinary, better or more important than others, or more useful for God in any manner. Every Spiritual gift has been given for being used to edify the Church, to benefit others. No person can claim that he has received anything special or better than others. Every gift is from God, is of equal importance, none is lesser or better than any other, and no Christian Believer is of lesser or more importance than any other in God’s eyes, so that God would give him something over and above another. Every Christian Believer is of equal status and importance in God’s eyes, God loves them all the same. Everyone has come to faith in the Lord through repentance of their sins and asking forgiveness from the Lord Jesus Christ for them, not by virtue of any special characteristic or ability.
For the utilization of different Spiritual gifts, God has appointed different people. In other words, all the gifts have not been given to any one person, nor everyone has been given any one gift. Whatever ministry God has determined for each person, accordingly the Spiritual gift too has been given. From phrase “God has appointed” in the opening sentence of verse 28 it is apparent that no one has chosen or earned any ministry or gift; whatever anyone has, it is appointed from God and according to God’s overall plans. Every person’s blessing is through his fulfilling his assigned ministry, worthily utilizing the gift given to him, and using his ministry and gift to glorify God; and not through a person’s desiring and pleading for a particular ministry or gift, that someone else may be having.
After this initial statement is the list of gifts according to their use in the Church, the gifts required and used often are given first, and those required and used less are given towards the end. But in their place and utility, each ministry and gift is as important as any other, none is greater or lesser than any other. The gift used the least, speaking in other ‘tongues’ i.e., languages has been named last, and the gifts used in the ministry of God’s Word in the Church have been placed first in this list. But if a foreign preacher were to come, and a person who can understand and speak his language is required to translate and interpret for him, then this last mentioned gift will have the same precedence as these first three. Therefore, no ministry and its related gifts are any less than any other. But here they have been listed according to their day-to-day utility in the functioning of the Church.
The fact of different gifts being given to different people has then been explained in verse 29 to 31 through rhetorical questions; making it clear that no one has been given all the gifts, nor everyone has been given any one of the gifts. In the original Greek language, these questions have been written in the negative sense, implying that the answer to each of these questions is “No!” Through the use of these rhetorical questions, the Holy Spirit, through Paul has clearly and firmly established that no Christian Believer has been given all the gifts, nor has every Christian Believer been given one gift, i.e., one particular gift will not be seen in every Believer; to expect this to happen is going contrary to God’s Word. Therefore, those who teach wrong doctrines and give false teachings in the name of the Holy Spirit, for them to emphatically preach and teach that every Born-Again Believer should speak in ‘tongues’ and that is the proof of being Born Again, is to ignore the teachings of God’s Word and to go contrary to God’s Word, mislead people through misinterpreting and misusing God’s Word. The Holy Spirit, who is the Spirit of Truth (John 14:17), will never say or teach or do anything that is contrary to God’s Word. Moreover, the ‘tongues’ these proponents of wrong teachings talk about, in fact are known and spoken languages of various regions of the earth (Acts 2:1-11). The Lord Jesus has said that Satan is the father of lies, there is no truth in him, and every lie is from him (John 8:44), therefore all these wrong doctrines and false teachings that they so emphatically preach and teach are not from the Holy Spirit, but from Satan, a satanic deception, from which these people should not only come out but also expose, and stop preaching to others.
After this comes verse 31, which is very often used by these proponents of wrong teachings related to the Holy Spirit, to justify their wrong doctrines and false teachings about asking for Spiritual gifts according to one’s desire, which we have already seen earlier, is not a correct notion on their part. When we see and interpret this verse in its context and understand its meaning, then it becomes apparent that what has been stated here is in context of asking for being of best use in the Church, not for changing the Spiritual gifts. When this verse is seen in context of the other verses of this chapter, it becomes evident that the phrase “earnestly desire the best gifts” used here is for the “best” in use or most often required gift, i.e., the ministry of the Word. In other words, through Paul, the Holy Spirit is telling the Christian Believers to desire to be those who would be of the best possible or maximum possible use in the Church, i.e., earnestly desire to be of best possible use for the Lord. If this verse is taken to mean or understand that ministries and Spiritual gifts can be greater or lesser, then it renders vain the teaching in verses 12-27; it implies that in the body of Christ, the Church, not everybody is of the same significance, and the Holy Spirit has differentiated by giving lesser or greater gifts to different people, and that God can be manipulated to change His decisions by men. And none of these implications are consistent with the Word of God and its teachings; hence are absolutely unacceptable. Moreover, those who use this verse to support that this verse affirms asking for gifts according to one’s choice, then take note that all that this verse is saying is to earnestly desire; there is no assurance, stated or implied, in this verse that whatever a person earnestly desires, God is bound to fulfill it. Also, there is no example anywhere in God’s Word of the ministry and gift of a Christian Believer being changed because of their desiring and asking; nor is any such teaching mentioned anywhere else in God’s Word, by any other writer. Therefore, teaching to have any such desires in the name of the Holy Spirit is wrong, is not from God, and is a misuse of God’s Word, misleading the people in God’s name.
If you are a Christian Believer, then take note and understand how important and essential it is for you to take everything in God’s Word in its context, keeping in mind the meanings of the words used in the original language, and understand the actual meaning and interpretation; instead of falling for the contrived concepts and false teachings of the preachers of falsehood, and get ensnared by their deception (2 Corinthians 2:11). Because to misinterpret and misuse the Word of God is a very tried and tested, old strategy of Satan (2 Corinthians 11:3, 13-15), which he has been using since the Garden of Eden (Genesis 3:1-6); so much so, that Satan even tried to use this against the Lord Jesus (Matthew 4:1-11). If Satan is successful in using this strategy against you, then you will think and feel that you are on the right path, whereas actually Satan will be leading you astray into destruction, and by the time you come to realize the truth, it will be too late.
If you are still thinking of yourself as being a Christian, a child of God, entitled to a place in heaven, because of being born in a particular family and having fulfilled the religious rites and rituals prescribed under your religion or denomination since your childhood, then you too need to come out of your misunderstanding of Biblical facts and start learning, understanding, and living according to what the Word of God says, instead of what any denominational creed says or teaches. Make the necessary corrections in your life now while you have the time and opportunity; lest by the time you realize your mistake, it is too late to do anything about it.
If you are still not Born Again, have not obtained salvation, or have not asked the Lord Jesus for forgiveness for your sins, then you have the opportunity to do so right now. A short prayer said voluntarily with a sincere heart, with heartfelt repentance for your sins, and a fully submissive attitude, “Lord Jesus, I confess that I have disobeyed You, and have knowingly or unknowingly, in mind, in thought, in attitude, and in deeds, committed sins. I believe that you have fully borne the punishment of my sins by your sacrifice on the cross, and have paid the full price of those sins for all eternity. Please forgive my sins, change my heart and mind towards you, and make me your disciple, take me with you." God longs for your company and wants to see you blessed, but to make this possible, is your personal decision. Will you not say this prayer now, while you have the time and opportunity to do so - the decision is yours.
