हम परमेश्वर द्वारा मसीही विश्वासियों को दिए गए संसाधनों का भण्डारी होने के बारे में विचार करते आ रहे हैं। प्रभु यीशु ने यूहन्ना 14:16 में अपने शिष्यों से प्रतिज्ञा की थी कि परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा उन में, उन्हें परमेश्वर द्वारा प्रदान किया गया सहायक या साथी बनकर रहेगा। इसलिए हमें इस बात से अवगत रहना चाहिए कि हम पवित्र आत्मा के योग्य भण्डारी किस प्रकार से हो सकते हैं, जिस से कि हम उसकी सहायता और मार्गदर्शन का सदुपयोग कर सकें। जैसा कि हम पिछले लेखों में देखते आ रहे हैं, कुछ विश्वासियों में यह प्रवृत्ति होती है कि वे पवित्र आत्मा को अपने स्थान पर काम करने वाले के रूप में उपयोग करना चाहते हैं, कि वह उनके स्थान पर उनके कार्यों को कर दे, उनके लिए उनकी जिम्मेदारियों का निर्वाह वह कर दे। हमने देखा है कि किस प्रकार से यह धारणा बाइबल के प्रतिकूल है, और इसलिए यह करने से सम्बन्धित परमेश्वर से की गई सभी प्रार्थनाएँ अनुत्तरित ही रहेंगी, क्योंकि उनका आधार ही अनुचित है। पिछले लेख से हमने कुछ विश्वासियों की परमेश्वर को उन का काम करके देने, क्योंकि वे अपने आप को उसके लिए किसी न किसी प्रकार से अक्षम समझते हैं, के लिए प्रार्थना करने की प्रवृत्ति के बारे में कुछ विस्तार से देखना आरम्भ किया है। इस सन्दर्भ में हमने देखा था कि अधिकांशतः यह विनती किसी प्रत्यक्ष अथवा शारीरिक बात के लिए नहीं, बल्कि अप्रत्यक्ष बातों, अर्थात्, विचारों, आदतों और रवैयों, हृदय और मन-मस्तिष्क की बातों के बारे में की जाती है। आज हम इसे और आगे देखेंगे, और यह समझने का प्रयास करेंगे कि क्यों विश्वासियों को मानसिक या अप्रत्यक्ष बातों को नियंत्रित करना कठिन होता है, यद्यपि वे शारीरिक या प्रत्यक्ष बातों को नियंत्रित कर लेते हैं।

मानसिक या अप्रत्यक्ष बातों को नियंत्रित न कर पाने को बनाए रखने में बहुधा एक कुचक्र कार्य करता रहता है। सामान्यतः ये विश्वासी अपने समय का एक प्रमुख भाग अपने मोबाइल फोन या कम्प्यूटरों तथा इंटरनेट, अथवा अन्य किसी माध्यम द्वारा, साँसारिक रुचियों, आकर्षणों, और शारीरिक आनन्द की बातों में व्यतीत करते हैं। वे अपनी इस कमी को जानते और मानते हैं, और उसका अपनी सार्वजनिक प्रार्थनाओं में भी अंगीकार कर लेते हैं, किन्तु वे उसके निवारण के लिए परमेश्वर के समाधान का कभी पालन नहीं करते हैं, उस समाधान में बने नहीं रहते हैं। क्योंकि वे परमेश्वर और उसके वचन के साथ उपयुक्त समय नहीं बिताते हैं, इसीलिए उनका आत्मिक पोषण और बढ़ोतरी का स्तर कम ही रहता है, उनकी आत्मा कमज़ोर रहती है। इसलिये वे आसानी से शैतान की युक्तियों में फँस जाती है, और इसी लिये वे उन्हीं बातों में बारंबार फंसते और गिरते रहते हैं। फिर वे ये सोचने लगते हैं कि क्योंकि वे स्वयं उस प्रवृत्ति पर जयवंत नहीं होने पा रहे हैं, इसलिए परमेश्वर से उन्हें उस से बाहर निकालने के लिए, उनके लिये इस छुटकारे को कर के देने प्रार्थना करें। लेकिन परमेश्वर ने पहले ही से अपने वचन में जो समाधान लिखवा रखा है, वे उसका दृढ़ निश्चय के साथ कभी पालन नहीं करते हैं। वे चाहते हैं कि परमेश्वर उनके आत्मिक जीवन को बढ़ाए और दृढ़ करे, किन्तु अपनी उन आत्मिक कमज़ोरियों के कारण को छोड़ना नहीं चाहते हैं। वे भी वही गलती करते हैं जो इस्राएलियों ने वाचा के संदूक को युद्ध भूमि में लाने के द्वारा की थी (1 शमूएल 4)। 

उन इस्राएलियों ने भरोसा किया था कि उनके मध्य उस वाचा के सन्दूक की उपस्थिति के द्वारा वे विजयी हो जाएंगे, किन्तु उन्हें और भी शर्मनाक तथा बुरी हार का सामना करना पड़ा, क्योंकि उन्होंने अपने मध्य में से उस पाप को, जो उनकी पराजय का मुख्य कारण था, नहीं निकाला था। यद्यपि परमेश्वर का वाचा का संदूक तो उनके मध्य था, किन्तु परमेश्वर की सामर्थ्य उनके साथ नहीं थी। इसीलिए वे विजयी नहीं हुए, बल्कि परमेश्वर की वाचा के सन्दूक के लिये, बिना परमेश्वर से पूछे और अनुमति लिये, अपनी ही धारणा और इच्छा के अनुसार उपयोग करने, वरन् दुरुपयोग करने के कारण वे और भी बुरी तरह से पराजित हुए। इसी प्रकार से इन विश्वासियों की प्रार्थनाएँ कि परमेश्वर उन्हें उनकी कमज़ोर आत्मिक जीवन से छुड़ाए, बस दोहराई जाने वाली निष्फल प्रार्थनाएँ ही रहती हैं। क्योंकि आत्मिक जीवन की बढ़ोतरी और दृढ़ता के लिए वह प्राथमिक आवश्यकता, कि कमज़ोर करने वाले अपने पाप को दूर करके, परमेश्वर और उसके वचन के साथ उपयुक्त समय बिताना, जिससे कि शैतानी हमलों को समझने और उन पर विजयी होने के लिए उपयुक्त समझ और सामर्थ्य उन्हें मिले, पूरी ही नहीं हो रही है।

क्यों ये विश्वासी प्रभु द्वारा मत्ती 5:29-30 और मत्ती 18:8-10 में कही गई बात का पालन नहीं करते हैं? इन दोनों खण्डों में प्रभु ठोकर देने वाले शरीर के अंगों को काट कर फेंक देने की बात कर रहा है, उन अंगों को जो व्यक्ति को पाप में गिराते हैं; और फिर परमेश्वर के राज्य में उन अंगों तथा उनके द्वारा विश्वासियों के लिए उत्पन्न की जा रही समस्याओं के बिना प्रवेश करने के लिए कहता है। चाहे हम वास्तविक शब्दार्थ में अपने शरीरों के साथ यह कार्य नहीं करते हैं, लेकिन इसमें निहित सिद्धान्त हमारे जीवन के हर पक्ष पर लागू है, आत्मिक बातों पर भी। हम कम से कम इतना तो कर ही सकते हैं कि उन बातों को अपने से दूर कर दें जो हमें बारम्बार ठोकर लगने और गिरने का कारण होती हैं। बजाए इसके कि हम बार-बार पाप में फँसे और गिरें, क्या हम अपना इन्टरनेट बंद नहीं कर सकते हैं? नहीं तो, हम अपने फोन या कंप्यूटर में से उन एप्प्स को तो हटा ही सकते हैं जो हमारे लिए अनुशासनहीनता और समय की बरबादी का कारण हैं, जैसे कि साँसारिक मनोरंजन, सोशल-मीडिया, खेल आदि की एप्प्स, जिन्हें ये विश्वासी स्वयं कहते और मानते हैं कि वे उनके समय की बरबादी का कारण हैं। वे एक और काम भी कर सकते हैं, उन्हें गलत बातों में बहकाने में सहायक उनके स्मार्ट-फोन के स्थान पर वे एक छोटा साधारण फोन ले लें जो केवल बात करने और लिखित सन्देश आदान-प्रदान करने की क्षमता रखता है; जिस फोन में उन्हें गिराने वाली ये एप्पस कार्य नहीं कर सकती हैं।

लेकिन परमेश्वर द्वारा दिए गए तरीकों को अपनाने और पालन करने के स्थान पर, ये लोग उनकी आत्मिक बढ़ोतरी और दृढ़ता में बाधा डालने वाले शारीरिक आनन्द को भी उठाना चाहते हैं, किन्तु साथ ही परमेश्वर से यह भी चाहते हैं कि वह उन्हें आत्मिक जीवन में सक्षम और बलवंत भी कर दे। वे बार-बार कीचड़ में भी जाना चाहते हैं, किन्तु यह भी चाहते हैं कि परमेश्वर उन्हें स्वच्छ बनाए रखे कीचड़ से बचाए रखे (2 पतरस 2:22)। यहाँ एक अनकहा किन्तु आधारभूत विचार यह भी हो सकता है कि वे इसके लिए अपनी जवाबदेही से बचना चाहते हैं। अर्थात्, यदि परमेश्वर उनके लिए यह कर के नहीं भी देता है, तो भी वे दोषी न ठहराए जाएँ, क्योंकि तब वे बड़ी सरलता से सारी ज़िम्मेदारी परमेश्वर पर ही डाल सकते हैं। वे यह कह सकते हैं कि हमने तो वर्षों तक, सच्चे मन से, पूरे विश्वास से प्रार्थनाएं कीं, कि परमेश्वर हमें इस पापमय प्रवृत्ति और प्रलोभनों से बचाए और निकाल ले, किन्तु उसी ने ऐसा नहीं किया; तो फिर हम दोषी क्यों कहलाएँ? 

यह वही प्रवृत्ति है जो आदम ने अदन की वाटिका में हव्वा के बारे में दिखाई थी। यद्यपि आदम ने हव्वा के कहने पर ही उस वर्जित फल को खाया था, किन्तु उसने स्वेच्छा से, बिना किसी की कोई जोर-ज़बरदस्ती के, यह किया था। लेकिन उस ने अपने पाप के लिए परमेश्वर को ही दोषी ठहरा दिया – परमेश्वर तू ही इस स्त्री के लिए, उसने जो किया है, और उसने जो मुझ से करवाया है, उस सभी के लिए ज़िम्मेदार है। मैंने तो स्त्री को नहीं माँगा था, पर तूने स्वयं ही उसे मुझे दिया है; तुझे पता होना चाहिए था कि वह क्या कर सकती है। अब उसके किये के लिये मुझ से क्यों पूछा रहा है? उसी प्रकार से क्योंकि उनकी भौतिक आवश्यकताओं और आराम के लिए परमेश्वर ने ही उन्हें सक्षम किया है, संसाधनों का प्रावधान किया है, इसलिए उन बातों के दुष्प्रभावों के लिए भी उसे ही ज़िम्मेदारी लेनी चाहिए; विश्वासियों को क्यों दोषी ठहराता है? जबकि उन संसाधनों का दुरुपयोग करने वाले, उन्हें अनुचित बातों के लिए और गलत रीति से उपयोग करने वाले वे स्वयं ही हैं; यह जानते हुए भी कि उन्हें क्या करना है और क्या नहीं फिर भी गलत निर्णय लेने और अनुचित कार्य करने वाले, तथा सही उपयोग नहीं करने वाले, वे स्वयं ही हैं। जैसे आदम का स्पष्टीकरण किसी काम नहीं आया, उसी प्रकार से इन विश्वासियों का तर्क भी कोई काम नहीं आएगा। ये प्रार्थनाएँ कि परमेश्वर उनके स्थान पर कार्य करे, उनकी जिम्मेदारियों का निर्वाह कर दे, उनके द्वारा परमेश्वर की आज्ञाओं का जान-बूझकर किए गए उल्लंघन तथा परमेश्वर के निर्देशों की अनदेखी करने की प्रवृत्ति को ढाँपने, भक्ति के आवरण से छिपाए रखने के प्रयास मात्र हैं।

अगले लेख में हम देखेंगे कि किस प्रकार से विश्वासी बहुधा और बड़ी सरलता से, अपने जीवनों को सही संचालित करने की परमेश्वर की आज्ञाओं की गलत व्याख्या करते हैं, उन्हें अनुचित रीति से लागू करते हैं जिस से कि परमेश्वर को जवाबदेह होने से बचने के प्रयास कर सकें।  

यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। स्वेच्छा से अपने पापों के लिये पश्चाताप करके, प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु, मैं अपने पापों के लिए पश्चातापी हूँ, उनके लिए आप से क्षमा माँगता हूँ। मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मुझे और मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

We are considering the role of Christian Believers as stewards of their God given gifts. The Lord Jesus promised His disciples in John 14:16 that God the Holy Spirit will be with them as their God given Helper, or Companion. Therefore, we need to be aware of how to be a good steward of the Holy Spirit, so we can utilize His help and guidance appropriately. As we have been seeing in the preceding articles, some Believers have a tendency of wanting to use the Holy Spirit as their substitutes, to do their works and fulfil their responsibilities for them. We have seen how and why this is an unBiblical concept, and hence all prayers to get this done will remain unanswered, since they are made on wrong premises. In the last article we had started to look in some detail into this tendency of some Believers asking God to take over from them, pleading an inability of some kind or the other to do the work. In this context we had seen that most often this plea is made not for externally evident or physical things, but for physically non-evident things, e.g. those related to thoughts, habits and attitudes, things in the mind and heart. Today, we will carry on with this, and try to understand why Believers find it difficult to control the non-tangible, while they can usually control the tangible.

Often, there is a vicious cycle at work why Believers find it difficult to control the non-tangible. These Believers usually spend a significant part of their time in pursuing worldly interests, attractions, and physical pleasures through their mobile phones, computers and internet usage, or some other means. They know and acknowledge this shortcoming in them, and may even acknowledge this short-coming in their public prayers, but they never take up or stick with God’s solutions for rectifying it. Since they do not spend adequate time with God and His Word, therefore, their spiritual nourishment and growth levels remain low, their spirits remain weak and vulnerable to satanic influences. Hence, they keep falling for the same temptations over and over again. Then they think that since they are unable to overcome on their own, therefore, they will ask God to deliver them out of this, ask God to do it for them. But they never resolutely follow the solution that God already has given to them in His Word. They want God to strengthen their spiritual lives, but do not want to let go of the causes for their spiritual weakness. They make the same mistake that the Israelites made in fetching the Ark of the Covenant to the battle-field (1 Samuel 4). 

The Israelites trusted that the Ark’s presence would make them victorious, but suffered an even worse and humiliating loss, since they had not removed the sin, the main reason for their defeat from amongst them. Though God’s Ark was with them, but His power was not amongst them. Therefore, they were not victorious; instead, because of using, rather, misusing God’s Ark without consulting Him and taking His permission, based on their own notions and desires, they suffered an even worse defeat. Similarly, the prayers of these Believers to be delivered by God from their poor spiritual lives just remains a repetitive infructuous prayer. Since the primary necessity of strengthening their spiritual lives through putting away their sin that is weakening them and spending time with God and His Word to gain spiritual wisdom and strength to overcome these satanic attacks is not being met.

Why do these Believers not do what the Lord said in Matthew 5:29-30 and Matthew 18:8-10? In these two passages the Lord is talking about cutting off the offending body parts, those parts that make the person sin, stumble, and fall; and then enter the Kingdom of God without them, as well as without the problems those parts create for the Believers. Even if we do not literally do that to our bodies, but the underlying principle is applicable to all aspects of our lives, including the spiritual aspects. The least we can do is to remove from us the things that cause us to stumble, fall, and create these problems for us. Instead of repeatedly falling for their addiction and problems, why not just cut off the internet connection? Or, at the very least, uninstall and eliminate the apps that cause problems of indiscipline and time wasting, e.g., apps related to worldly entertainment, social-media, games etc., i.e., the apps which they themselves confess and say, take up their time and keep them from having a disciplined spiritual life? Another thing that can be done is to throw away their smartphones that help them in doing the wrong things, and instead just have a small simple phone, capable only of making calls and text messaging, in which the apps that make them fall cannot function.

But instead of implementing the God given methods, they want to enjoy those very physical pleasures that obstruct their spiritual growth, but also want God to make them spiritually strong and overcoming. They want God to keep pulling them out of the mire they repeatedly keep getting themselves into and keep them washed and clean (2 Peter 2:22). An underlying, unstated thought may be that they want to escape their accountability for this, i.e., they would not be held guilty if God does not do it for them, because then they can conveniently blame Him for not delivering them from the temptations and sinful tendencies, although they had sincerely and repeatedly prayed and begged for it so many times; so, why should they be considered guilty? 

This is the same tendency that Adam displayed about Eve, who gave him the fruit to eat; though at the behest of Eve, yet, Adam ate the forbidden fruit out of his own will, not under any compulsion from anyone. But he put the blame on God for the sin that he committed - God you are responsible for her, for what she has done, and for what she has made me do. I had not asked for her, it was you, who gave her to me; you should have known what she would do. So, why are you asking me about what she has done? Similarly, since God is responsible for providing them the resources for their physical conveniences of life, He should take the responsibility and the blame for the ill-effects of the conveniences. Why should the Believers be held guilty? Even though it is the Believers who are misusing these things, and not rectifying the situations despite being well aware of what to do and what not to do. Just as Adam’s reasoning did not work, so too their reasoning will not work either. These prayers of asking God to take over and do the job of fulfilling their responsibilities are actually a cover-up in the garb of godliness for their wilful disobedience of God’s commands and deliberate disregard of God’s instructions about winning over such situations and circumstances. 

In the next article we will see how Believers very often and very conveniently misinterpret and misapply God’s commands given to us to set our lives right; and thereby, try to avoid being accountable to God.

If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord, make your decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now to ensure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Repenting of your sins, and asking the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily and sincerely, surrendering yourself to Him - is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life.  Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.

 पिछले लेख में हमने परमेश्वर के वचन बाइबल से उद्धार के बारे में देखना आरंभ किया था। हम इस विषय को तीन प्रश्नों के उत्तर के रूप में देखेंगे। ये प्रश्न हैं: 

* यह उद्धार, अर्थात बचाव, या सुरक्षा किस से और क्यों होना है? 

* व्यक्ति इस उद्धार को कैसे प्राप्त कर सकता है? 

* इसके लिए यह इतना आवश्यक क्यों हुआ कि स्वयं परमेश्वर प्रभु यीशु को स्वर्ग छोड़कर सँसार में बलिदान होने के लिए आना पड़ा?

कल हमने पहले प्रश्न, किससे और क्यों को देखना आरंभ किया था; और देखा था कि पाप, अर्थात परमेश्वर की अनाज्ञाकारिता करने से, और करते ही, प्रथम मनुष्यों, आदम और हव्वा में क्या परिवर्तन आ गए। उनमें अपने किए के कारण दोष का बोध आ गया; उनमें अपनी दशा को लेकर लज्जा आ गई जिससे वे उस पूर्व उन्मुक्त भाव से परमेश्वर के सम्मुख नहीं आने पाए; वे परमेश्वर से छिपने लगे; और उन्होंने अपनी लाज को ढाँपने के लिए अपने ही प्रयास तो किए, किन्तु वे अपर्याप्त और अस्थाई थे। फिर हमने शिक्षा ली थी कि मनुष्य का पाप उसके अंदर एक दोषी होने के स्थिति, एक ग्लानि को उत्पन्न करता है। पाप के कारण मनुष्य सच्चे परमेश्वर के सामने आने से कतराने लगता है। यद्यपि मनुष्य का समस्त हाल परमेश्वर के सामने बेपरदा है, बिल्कुल खुला है, फिर भी मनुष्य अपनी लज्जा को स्वीकार करने के स्थान पर उसे अपनी धार्मिकता और भलाई के कामों से ढाँपने का प्रयास करता है, जो अपर्याप्त हैं, और अपने इन प्रयासों के बावजूद फिर भी अपने आप को परमेश्वर से छुपाए रखता है, उससे दूर रहने के प्रयास करता है। पाप के कारण आए परिणामों को आज और आगे देखते हैं।

 

बाइबल की पहली पुस्तक, उत्पत्ति के तीन अध्याय में इस प्रथम पाप की स्थिति का वर्णन दिया गया है। परमेश्वर जब मनुष्य से संगति करने अदन की वाटिका में आया, तो उसके विचरण के शब्द को सुनकर आदम और हव्वा वाटिका के वृक्षों के बीच में जाकर उससे छुप गए। किन्तु इस पाप में गिरे और उससे छुपने का प्रयास करने वाले मनुष्य को परमेश्वर ने ऐसे ही नहीं छोड़ दिया। परमेश्वर चाहता तो सीधे से उन पर अपने उस दण्ड की आज्ञा सुना सकता था, जिसकी चेतावनी वह पहले उस वर्जित फल के विषय उनको दे चुका था (उत्पत्ति 2:17)। किन्तु उस प्रेमी, दयालु, कृपालु, अनुग्रहकारी परमेश्वर ने ऐसा नहीं किया। उसने उन्हें अपनी गलती को, अपने पाप को मान लेने का अवसर दिया। गलती मनुष्य ने की थी; पतित दशा में मनुष्य था; अपनी लज्जा और दोष के निवारण को पता करने का कर्तव्य मनुष्य का था। किन्तु उसकी इस दशा का समाधान प्रदान करने के लिए उसे ढूँढता हुआ परमेश्वर आया। जैसे प्रभु यीशु मसीह ने अपने संसार में आने के लिए कहा “क्योंकि मनुष्य का पुत्र खोए हुओं को ढूंढ़ने और उन का उद्धार करने आया है” (लूका 19:10)।

 

परमेश्वर ने वाटिका में, उनके छिपने के स्थान के निकट आकर उन पर दोषारोपण नहीं किया, वरन उन्हें प्रेम से बुलाया; उनसे पूछा “तू कहाँ है?” इसलिए नहीं कि परमेश्वर को उनके बारे में पता नहीं था, वरन इसलिए ताकि वे अपने पाप का, अपनी गलती का अंगीकार कर सकें। इससे पहले कि परमेश्वर को उनपर अपने न्याय को लागू करना पड़े, वह उन्हें पूरा-पूरा अवसर दे रहा था कि वे अपनी गलती को मान लें, क्योंकि परमेश्वर का एक और अद्भुत गुण उसकी क्षमा भी है, “यदि हम अपने पापों को मान लें, तो वह हमारे पापों को क्षमा करने, और हमें सब अधर्म से शुद्ध करने में विश्वासयोग्य और धर्मी है” (1 यूहन्ना 1:9)। आदम बाहर निकल कर आया, और परमेश्वर से बात भी की; किन्तु उसे वास्तविकता बताने के स्थान पर बहाना और स्पष्टीकरण देने लगा; उसने कहा मैं तुझ से डर गया था, इसलिए छुप गया। यह पाप का मनुष्य के जीवन में एक और प्रभाव है - पाप डर उत्पन्न करता है। यह सामान्य व्यवहार की बात है, जब भी हम कोई गलती करते हैं, तो उस गलती के कारण हम में एक डर बना रहता है। मान लीजिए आप अपनी गाड़ी लेकर निकले हैं, और लाइसेंस लेना भूल गए, तो हर पुलिस वाले को देखते ही मन में डर आएगा, “कहीं इसने रोक कर लाइसेंस पूछ लिया तो परेशानी हो जाएगी!”

परमेश्वर ने उसे फिर से अपने पाप को मान लेने का एक और अवसर भी दिया साथ ही पाप का संकेत भी दिया; उससे सीधे से पूछा कि “क्या उसने वह वर्जित फल खा लिया है?” फिर से मनुष्य ने इस अवसर को गँवा दिया, और अब अपना दोष स्वीकार करने के स्थान पर, अपनी गलती दूसरों पर मढ़ने लगा। आदम ने परमेश्वर को और हव्वा दोनों को दोषी ठहराया - हव्वा को तो परमेश्वर ही ने उसे दिया था, इसलिए उसके लिए परमेश्वर ही जिम्मेदार था। हव्वा ने अपने आप को दोषी मानने के स्थान पर उसे बहकाने वाले सांप को दोषी ठहराया। गलती मान लेने और पश्चाताप करने का यह अवसर भी उन्होंने औरों पर दोषारोपण करने में गँवा दिया। आज भी हमारी स्वाभाविक प्रतिक्रिया अपनी गलती स्वीकार करने के स्थान पर किसी अन्य को उसके लिए जिम्मेदार और दोषी ठहराने की होती है। अब परमेश्वर को न्याय का कदम उठाना पड़ा।

 

उनपर पीड़ा, परिश्रम, और मृत्यु को लागू कर दिया गया, और उन्हें उस आशीष के स्थान अदन के वाटिका से बाहर कर दिया गया। मृत्यु, जैसा हम पहले देख चुके हैं, एक मानवीय प्रयासों से अपरिवर्तनीय बिछड़ने की दशा को दिखाता है। पाप के कारण मनुष्य की संगति परमेश्वर से टूट गई; उसकी आत्मिक मृत्यु तुरंत हो गई, और वह शारीरिक मृत्यु के लिए भी निर्धारित कर दिया गया। मूल इब्रानी भाषा में जो वाक्यांश इसके लिए उत्पत्ति 2:17 में प्रयोग हुआ है, उसका वास्तविक अंग्रेजी अनुवाद है “dying thou dost die (YLT); dying thou shalt die (SLT)” जिसका हिन्दी अनुवाद होता है “मरते मरते तू मर जाएगा”। अर्थात, “उसी दिन से तेरी निरंतर कभी न रुकने और पलटे जाने वाली मरते चले जाने की प्रक्रिया आरंभ हो जाएगी, और अंततः तू मर जाएगा।” जिस दिन आदम और हव्वा ने पाप किया उनके लिए मृत्यु दो रीति से आ गई - आत्मिक रीति से वे परमेश्वर की संगति से अलग हो गए; और शारीरिक रीति से उन्होंने मरना आरंभ कर दिया, और अंततः अपनी आयु पूरी करके मर गए, मिट्टी में मिल गए। यही दशा तब से प्रत्येक मनुष्य के साथ रहती है; वह आत्मिक रीति से परमेश्वर से दूरी की दश में और शारीरिक रीति से एक दिन-प्रतिदिन घटती जाती आयु के साथ जन्म लेता है, और आयु पूरी करके मर जाता है, मिट्टी में मिल जाता है “इसलिये जैसा एक मनुष्य के द्वारा पाप जगत में आया, और पाप के द्वारा मृत्यु आई, और इस रीति से मृत्यु सब मनुष्यों में फैल गई, इसलिये कि सब ने पाप किया” (रोमियों 5:12)।

पहले पाप से उत्पन्न हुई स्थिति के प्रति परमेश्वर की प्रतिक्रिया के बारे में हम और आगे अगले लेख में देखेंगे। अभी के लिए आप से निवेदन है कि अपने जीवनों की वास्तविक स्थिति का आँकलन करके देखें। पाप प्रत्येक व्यक्ति को दूसरों पर दोषारोपण करने वाला, अपनी गलती के लिए औरों को जिम्मेदार ठहराने वाला, यहाँ तक कि परमेश्वर को भी दोषी ठहराने वाला बना देता है। मनुष्य सत्य के सामने आने, उसे स्वीकारने से डरता है, और हर हाल में अपने आप को सही दिखाना चाहता है। किन्तु परमेश्वर आपकी यह वास्तविकता जानता है, फिर भी वह आप से प्रेम करता है, आपके साथ अपनी संगति को बहाल करना चाहता है। लेकिन यह संभव हो पाना आपके निर्णय पर आधारित है। आपकी स्वेच्छा और सच्चे पश्चाताप तथा समर्पित मन से की गई एक छोटी प्रार्थना, “हे प्रभु यीशु, मैं मान लेता हूँ कि मन-ध्यान-विचार-व्यवहार में आपकी अनाज्ञाकारिता करके मैंने पाप किया है। मैं धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों को अपने ऊपर लेकर, मेरे स्थान पर उनके मृत्यु-दण्ड को कलवरी के क्रूस पर दिए गए अपने बलिदान के द्वारा सह लिया। आप मेरे स्थान पर मारे गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए मृतकों में से जी भी उठे। कृपया मुझ पर दया करें और मेरे पाप क्षमा करें। मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें, अपनी आज्ञाकारिता में अपने साथ बना कर रखें।” परमेश्वर आपकी संगति की लालसा रखता है, आपको दण्ड के अधीन नहीं, वरन आशीषित देखना चाहता है; इसे संभव करना या न करना, आपका अपना व्यक्तिगत निर्णय है।

The Solution For Sin - Salvation - 2

From the previous article, we had begun to look from God's Word, the Bible about salvation. We will consider this topic as answers to three questions. These three questions are: 

* This salvation, i.e., being saved, or delivered, is to be from what or whom, and why? 

* How can one receive this salvation? 

* For this, why was it so necessary for the Lord Jesus himself to leave heaven and come to the world to be sacrificed?

Yesterday we started looking at the first question, salvation from what or whom and why; and had seen about the changes that came about in the behavior of the first humans, Adam and Eve, because of sin, i.e., disobeying God.  Because of their deed, there was guilt in them; they were ashamed of their condition, they could not come before the Lord God with the same freedom they did earlier; they began to hide from God; and they made their own vain, insufficient, and fallible efforts to cover up their guilt and shame. From this we learnt that man's condition of sin produces guilt and shame. Because of sin, man hesitates to come before the true God, although the actual condition of man is always open before God, yet instead of accepting his wrong-doing causing the guilt and shame, man tries to cover it with his self-righteousness and works of goodness, which are inadequate. And in spite of his efforts of being righteous, he still tries to keep himself hidden from the true God, and tries to stay away from Him. Today, we will look further at the consequences brought about by sin.

The description related to this first sin is given in chapter three of the first book of the Bible, Genesis. When God came to the Garden of Eden to fellowship with man, on hearing the sound of His walking, Adam and Eve hid from Him in the midst of the trees of the Garden. But God did not ignore and leave man alone, who had fallen into sin and was trying to hide from Him. If God had wanted to, He could have directly ordered the punishment that He had previously warned them about eating the forbidden fruit (Genesis 2:17). But that loving, compassionate, merciful, gracious God did not do so. He gave them the opportunity to admit their mistake, their sin. The mistake was made by man; it was man who was in a fallen condition; therefore, it was the duty of man to find out the way of redressal for his sin and the consequent shame and guilt. Instead, to provide a divine, eternal solution to man’s condition, God came looking for him. As the Lord Jesus Christ said about the purpose of His coming into his world "for the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost" (Luke 19:10).

God, on coming near their hiding place in the Garden, did not accuse them, but lovingly called them, asking them "Where are you?" It is not that God didn't know about them, but so that they could come out and confess their sin, their mistake. Before God felt compelled to impose His judgment on them, He was giving every possible opportunity to them to admit their mistake, because another wonderful quality of God is His forgiveness, “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness" (1 John 1:9). Adam came out, and also spoke to God; But instead of telling him the reality, he started giving excuses and explanations; he said I was scared of you, so I hid. This is another effect of sin in man's life - sin generates fear. It is a matter of normal behavior, whenever we make a mistake, there is a fear in us because of that mistake. Suppose you have gone out driving your vehicle, but have forgotten to take your driving license, then every time you see a policeman on the road, you will feel scared on seeing him, the constant thought at the back of your mind will be, “If he stops me and asks for the license, then I will be in trouble!”

God again gave him another opportunity to confess his sin; while also indicating that he knew about his sin; God asked him directly "Have you eaten that forbidden fruit?" Again, man made a mess of this opportunity, and now instead of accepting his fault, he started blaming others for his mistake. Adam blamed both God and Eve - Eve was God’s creation and given to him by God, so God was responsible for her. Instead of accepting her fault, Eve too blamed the snake who had enticed her to sin. They lost this opportunity also, to admit their mistake and repent, by blaming others for their condition. Even today, our natural reaction is to blame others and hold others responsible for our mistakes and faults, instead of admitting them. Now God had to take the step of passing judgment on them.

Pain, toil, and death were imposed on them, and they were thrown out of the place of blessing, the Garden of Eden. As we have seen earlier, death refers to a state of humanly irreversible separation. From the moment man's fellowship with God was broken because of sin; he died spiritually from that instant, and from that moment onwards, he was also condemned to die physically. The literal English translation of the phrase used for this in Genesis 2:17 in the original Hebrew language is "dying thou dost die” (YLT); or, “dying thou shalt die” (SLT) which translates as “by dying, you will die”. Meaning that “from that day onwards a continuous and non-reversible process of dying will begin for you, and eventually you will die.” The day Adam and Eve sinned, death came to them in two ways - spiritually they were separated from the company of God; And physically they started to die, and eventually died on completing their life-time, returning back to dust. This condition has remained with every human being since then; he is born in a state of being spiritually separated from God, and physically with a day by day decreasing age, dies at the end of his life-time, and eventually turns into dust "Therefore, just as through one man sin entered the world, and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men, because all sinned" (Romans 5:12).

We'll see more in the next article about God's response to the situation created by the first sin. For now, it is a humble request that you self-assess the real situation of your life and see where you stand. Sin makes everyone blame others for their mistakes, hold others - even God, responsible for their faults. Man is fearful of facing the truth, of accepting it, and wants to show himself right in any case. But God, though He well knows your reality, yet He loves you even in the state you are, wants to restore His fellowship with you. But making it possible is dependent upon your decision. A short prayer from a willing heart, with sincere repentance for sins, and a fully submissive attitude, “Lord Jesus, I confess that I have disobeyed You, knowingly or unknowingly, in mind, in thought, in attitude, and in deeds, and have committed sins. I believe that you have fully borne the punishment of my sins by your sacrifice on the cross, and have paid the full price of those sins for all eternity. Please forgive my sins, change my heart and mind towards you, and make me your disciple, take me with you." God longs for your company, wants to see you blessed; but to make this possible or not, is your personal decision.

    इस बात को बनाए रखने में बहुधा एक कुचक्र कार्य करता रहता है। सामान्यतः ये विश्वासी अपने समय का एक प्रमुख भाग अपने मोबाइल फोन या कम्प्यूटरों तथा इंटरनेट, अथवा अन्य किसी माध्यम द्वारा, साँसारिक रुचियों, आकर्षणों, और शारीरिक आनन्द की बातों में व्यतीत करते हैं। वे अपनी इस कमी को जानते और मानते हैं, और उसका अपनी सार्वजनिक प्रार्थनाओं में भी अंगीकार कर लेते हैं, किन्तु वे उसके निवारण के लिए परमेश्वर के समाधान का कभी पालन नहीं करते हैं, उस समाधान में बने नहीं रहते हैं। क्योंकि वे परमेश्वर और उसके वचन के साथ उपयुक्त समय नहीं बिताते हैं, इसीलिए उनका आत्मिक पोषण और बढ़ोतरी का स्तर कम ही रहता है, उनकी आत्मा कमज़ोर रहती है और आसानी से शैतान की युक्तियों में फँस जाती है, और वे उन्हीं बातों में बारंबार फंसते और गिरते रहते हैं। फिर वे ये सोचने लगते हैं कि क्योंकि वे स्वयं उस प्रवृत्ति पर जयवंत नहीं होने पा रहे हैं, इसलिए परमेश्वर से उन्हें उस से बाहर निकालने के लिए प्रार्थना करें। लेकिन परमेश्वर ने पहले ही से अपने वचन में जो समाधान लिखवा रखा है, वे उसका दृढ़ निश्चय के साथ कभी पालन नहीं करते हैं। वे चाहते हैं कि परमेश्वर उनके आत्मिक जीवन को बढ़ाए और दृढ़ करे, किन्तु अपनी कमज़ोरियों को छोड़ना नहीं चाहते हैं। वे भी वही गलती करते हैं जो इस्राएलियों ने वाचा के संदूक को युद्ध भूमि में लाने के द्वारा की थी। उन्होंने भरोसा किया कि उनके मध्य उसकी उपस्थिति के द्वारा वे विजयी हो जाएंगे, किन्तु उन्हें और भी शर्मनाक तथा बुरी हार का सामना करना पड़ा, क्योंकि उन्होंने अपने मध्य में से पाप को नहीं निकाला था। यद्यपि परमेश्वर का वाचा का संदूक तो उनके मध्य था, किन्तु परमेश्वर की सामर्थ्य उनके साथ नहीं थी (1 शमूएल 4)। इसीलिए इन विश्वासियों की प्रार्थनाएँ की परमेश्वर उन्हें उनकी कमज़ोर आत्मिक जीवन से छुड़ाए, बस दोहराई जाने वाली निष्फल प्रार्थनाएँ ही रहती हैं। क्योंकि आत्मिक जीवन की बढ़ोतरी और दृढ़ता के लिए वह प्राथमिक आवश्यकता, परमेश्वर और उसके वचन के साथ उपयुक्त समय बिताना, जिससे कि शैतानी हमलों को समझने और उन पर विजयी होने के लिए उपयुक्त समझ और सामर्थ्य उन्हें मिले, पूरी ही नहीं हो रही है।

    क्यों ये विश्वासी प्रभु द्वारा मत्ती 5:29-30 और मत्ती 18:8-10 में कही गई बात का पालन नहीं करते हैं? इन दोनों खण्डों में प्रभु ठोकर देने वाले शरीर के अंगों को काट कर फेंक देने की बात कर रहा है, उन अंगों को जो व्यक्ति को पाप में गिराते हैं, और फिर परमेश्वर के राज्य में उन अंगों तथा उनके द्वारा विश्वासियों के लिए उत्पन्न की जा रही समस्याओं के बिना प्रवेश करने के लिए कहता है। चाहे हम वास्तविक शब्दार्थ में अपने शरीरों के साथ यह कार्य नहीं करते हैं, लेकिन इसमें निहित सिद्धान्त हमारे जीवन के हर पक्ष पर लागू है, आत्मिक बातों पर भी। हम कम से कम इतना तो कर ही सकते हैं कि उन बातों को अपने से दूर कर दें जो हमें बारम्बार ठोकर लगने और गिरने का कारण होती हैं। बजाए इसके कि हम बार-बार पाप में फँसे और गिरें, क्या हम अपना इन्टरनेट बंद नहीं कर सकते हैं? नहीं तो, हम अपने फोन या कंप्यूटर में से उन एप्प्स को तो हटा ही सकते हैं जो हमारे लिए अनुशासनहीनता और समय की बरबादी का कारण हैं, जैसे कि साँसारिक मनोरंजन, सोशल-मीडिया, खेल आदि की एप्प्स, जिन्हें ये विश्वासी कहते हैं कि वे उनके समय की बरबादी का कारण हैं। वे एक और काम भी कर सकते हैं, उन्हें गलत बातों में बहकाने में सहायक उनके स्मार्ट-फोन के स्थान पर वे एक छोटा फोन ले लें जो केवल बात करने और लिखित सन्देश आदान-प्रदान करने की क्षमता रखता है।

    लेकिन परमेश्वर द्वारा दिए गए तरीकों को अपनाने और पालन करने के स्थान पर, ये लोग उनकी आत्मिक बढ़ोतरी और दृढ़ता में बाधा डालने वाले शारीरिक आनन्द को भी उठाना चाहते हैं, किन्तु साथ हे परमेश्वर से चाहते हैं कि वह उन्हें आत्मिक जीवन में सक्षम और बलवंत भी कर दे। वे बार-बार कीचड़ में भी जाना चाहते हैं, किन्तु यह भी चाहते हैं कि परमेश्वर उन्हें स्वच्छ बनाए रखे कीचड़ से बचाए रखे (2 पतरस 2:22)। यहाँ एक अनकहा किन्तु आधारभूत विचार यह भी हो सकता है कि वे इसके लिए अपनी जवाबदेही से बचना चाहते हैं। अर्थात यदि परमेश्वर उनके लिए यह कर के नहीं भी देता है, तो भी वे दोषी न ठहराए जाएँ, क्योंकि तब वे बड़ी सरलता से सारी ज़िम्मेदारी परमेश्वर पर ही डाल सकते हैं। वे यह कह सकते हैं कि हमने तो वर्षों तक, सच्चे मन से, पूरे विश्वास से प्रार्थनाएं कीं, कि परमेश्वर हमें इस पापमय प्रवृत्ति और प्रलोभनों से बचाए और निकाल ले, किन्तु उसी ने ऐसा नहीं किया। यह वही प्रवृत्ति है जो आदम ने अदन की वाटिका में हव्वा के बारे में दिखाई थी। यद्यपि आदम ने हव्वा के कहने पर ही उस वर्जित फल को खाया था, किन्तु उसने स्वेच्छा से, बिना किसी की कोई जोर-ज़बरदस्ती के, यह किया था। लेकिन उस ने अपने पाप के लिए परमेश्वर को ही दोषी ठहरा दिया – परमेश्वर तू ही इस स्त्री के लिए, उसने जो किया है, और उसने जो मुझ से करवाया है, उस सभी के लिए ज़िम्मेदार है; क्योंकि तू ही ने मुझे उसे दिया है, तुझे पता होना चाहिए था कि वह क्या कर सकती है। उसी प्रकार से क्योंकि उनकी भौतिक आवश्यकताओं और आराम के लिए परमेश्वर ने ही उन्हें सक्षम किया है, संसाधनों का प्रावधान किया है, इसलिए उन बातों के दुष्प्रभावों के लिए भी उसे ही ज़िम्मेदारी लेनी चाहिए। चाहे उन संसाधनों का दुरुपयोग करने वाले, उन्हें अनुचित बातों के लिए और गलत रीति से उपयोग करने वाले वे स्वयं ही हैं; यह जानते हुए भी कि उन्हें क्या करना है और क्या नहीं फिर भी गलत निर्णय लेने वाले, सही उपयोग नहीं करने वाले, वे स्वयं ही हैं। जैसे आदम का स्पष्टीकरण किसी काम नहीं आया, उसी प्रकार से इन विश्वासियों का तर्क भी कोई काम नहीं आएगा। ये प्रार्थनाएँ कि परमेश्वर उनके स्थान पर कार्य करे, उनकी जिम्मेदारियों का निर्वाह कर दे, उनके द्वारा परमेश्वर की आज्ञाओं का जान-बूझकर किए गए उल्लंघन तथा परमेश्वर के निर्देशों की अनदेखी करने की प्रवृत्ति को ढाँपने, भक्ति के आवरण से छिपाए रखने के प्रयास मात्र हैं।

अगले लेख में हम देखेंगे कि किस प्रकार से विश्वासी बहुधा और बड़ी सरलता से, अपने जीवनों को सही संचालित करने की परमेश्वर की आज्ञाओं की गलत व्याख्या करते हैं, उन्हें अनुचित रीति से लागू करते हैं जिस से कि परमेश्वर को जवाबदेह होने से बचने के प्रयास कर सकें। 

    यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु, मैं अपने पापों के लिए पश्चातापी हूँ, उनके लिए आप से क्षमा माँगता हूँ। मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मुझे और मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

English Translation

Holy Spirit Helps in Our Tests – 3

 

    We are considering the role of Christian Believers as stewards of their God given gifts. The Lord Jesus promised His disciples in John 14:16 that God the Holy Spirit will be with them as their God given Helper, or Companion. Therefore, we need to be aware of how to be a good steward of the Holy Spirit, so we can utilize His help and guidance appropriately. As we have being seeing in the preceding articles, some Believers have a tendency of wanting to us the Hoy Spirit as their substitutes, to do their works and fulfil their responsibilities for them. We have seen how and why this is an unBiblical concept, and hence all prayers to get this done will remain unanswered, since they are made on wrong premises. In the last article we had started to look in some detail into this tendency of some Believers asking God to take over from them, pleading some inability to do the work. In this context we had seen that most often this plea is made not for externally evident or physical things, but for things related to thoughts, habits and attitudes, things in the mind and heart. Today, we will carry on with this, and try to understand why Believers find it difficult to control the non-tangible, while they can usually control the tangible.

    Often, there is a vicious cycle at work here. These Believers usually spend a significant part of their time in worldly interests, fascinations, and physical pleasures through their mobile phones, computers and internet usage, or some other means. They know and acknowledge this shortcoming in them, and may even acknowledge this short-coming in their public prayers, but they never take up or stick to God’s solutions for rectifying it. Since they do not spend adequate time with God and His Word, therefore, their spiritual nourishment and growth levels remain low, their spirits remain weak and vulnerable to satanic influences and they keep falling for the same temptations over and over again. Then they think that since they are not able to overcome on their own, therefore, they will ask God to deliver them out of this, ask God to do it for them. But they never resolutely follow the solution that God already has given to them in His Word. They want God to strengthen their spiritual lives, but do not want to let go of the causes for their weakness. They make the same mistake that the Israelites made in fetching the Ark of the Covenant to the battle-field. They trusted its presence will make them victorious, but suffered and even worse and humiliating loss, since they had not removed the sin from amongst them. Though God’s Ark was with them, but His power was not amongst them (1 Samuel 4). Therefore, the prayers of these Believers to be delivered by God from their poor spiritual lives just remains a repetitive infructuous prayer. Since the primary necessity of strengthening their spiritual lives through spending time with God and His Word to gain spiritual wisdom and strength to overcome these satanic attacks is not being met.

    Why do these Believers not do what the Lord said in Matthew 5:29-30 and Matthew 18:8-10? In these two passages the Lord is talking about cutting off the offending body parts, those parts that make the person sin, stumble, and fall, and then enter the Kingdom of God without them, as well as without the problems those parts create for the Believers. Even if we do not literally do that to our bodies, but the underlying principle is applicable to all aspects of our lives, including the spiritual aspects. The least we can do is to remove from us the things that cause us to stumble and fall, create these problems for us. Instead of repeatedly falling for their addiction and problems, why not just cut off the internet connection, or at the very least, uninstall and eliminate the apps that cause problems of indiscipline and time wasting, e.g., apps related to worldly entertainment, social-media, games etc., i.e., the apps which they say take up their time and keep them from having a disciplined spiritual life? Another thing that can be done is to throw away their smartphones that help them in doing the wrong things, and instead just have a small phone, capable only of making calls and text messaging.

    But instead of implementing God given methods, they want to enjoy the physical pleasures that obstruct their spiritual growth, but want God to make them spiritually strong and overcoming; they want God to keep pulling them out of the mire they keep getting themselves into (2 Peter 2:22). An underlying, unstated thought may be to escape accountability for this, i.e., they cannot be held guilty if God does not do it for them, because then they can conveniently blame Him for not delivering them from the temptations and sinful tendencies, although they had sincerely and repeatedly prayed and begged for it so many times. This is the same tendency that Adam displayed about Eve, who gave him the fruit to eat; though at the behest of Eve, yet, Adam ate the forbidden fruit out of his own will, not under any compulsion from anyone. But he put the blame on God for the sin that he committed - God you are responsible for her, for what she has done, and for what she has made me do, since you gave her to me; you should have known what she will do. Similarly, since God is responsible for providing them the resources for their physical conveniences of life, so He should take the responsibility and the blame for their ill-effects as well. Even though it is they who are using these things inappropriately, and not rectifying the situations despite being well aware of what to do and what not to do. Just as Adam’s reasoning did not work, so too their reasoning will not work either. These prayers of asking God to take over and do the job of fulfilling their responsibilities are actually a cover-up in the garb of godliness for their willful disobedience of God’s commands and deliberate disregard of God’s instructions about winning over such situations and circumstances.

    In the next article we will see how Believers very often and very conveniently misinterpret and misapply God’s commands for us to set our lives right, so as to try to avoid being accountable to God.

    If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord, make your decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now to ensure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Repenting of your sins, and asking the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily and sincerely, surrendering yourself to Him - is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life.  Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.
