पिछले लेख में हमने मूसा द्वारा इस्राएल के छुटकारे से सीखा था कि परमेश्वर के उद्देश्य केवल परमेश्वर के समय में, और उसके निर्धारित तरीकों से ही पूरे किए जा सकते हैं। कोई भी, वह व्यक्ति भी अन्ततः जिसके द्वारा वह कार्य करवाया जाएगा, उन बातों को अपने हाथों में नहीं ले सकता है, और न ही अपनी ही इच्छा के अनुसार उनको कर सकता है। परमेश्वर के प्रति आज्ञाकारिता का अर्थ है परमेश्वर के निर्देशों का पालन करना, और उस प्रकार से करना जैसा परमेश्वर ने उन्हें करने के लिए निर्धारित किया है और बताया है। इस्राएल के वाचा की भूमि, कनान, की ओर की यात्रा के उदाहरण के साथ आगे बढ़ते हुए हम परमेश्वर की आज्ञाकारिता के इस सिद्धान्त की, जंगल की यात्रा में परमेश्वर की आराधना के लिए तम्बू बनाने के उदाहरण के द्वारा, और अधिक पुष्टि करेंगे।

निर्गमन की पुस्तक का दूसरा अर्ध-भाग उस तम्बू के बारे में है जिसे परमेश्वर ने अपनी आराधना के लिए इस्राएलियों द्वारा बनवाया था। परमेश्वर बहुत आसानी से बस इतना भर कह सकता था कि इस्राएलियों को उसकी आराधना करने के प्रति उद्यमी होना चाहिए, उसकी आराधना किसी मूर्त के रूप में नहीं, किन्तु आत्मा में होनी चाहिए; और उन्हें उसकी आराधना के लिए एक स्थान बना लेना चाहिए; और बस बात को यहीं पर छोड़ देता, इस्राएलियों को इसके आगे इसे पूरा कर लेने देता। किन्तु न केवल परमेश्वर ने उन्हें अपनी आज्ञाएँ दीं, अपनी व्यवस्था दी, बल्कि उसकी आराधना के लिए जो तम्बू बनाया जाना था, उसमें जो सामान होना था, और जिस तरह से आराधना की जानी थी, उसके भी बहुत सटीक निर्देश दिए। परमेश्वर ने किसी भी बात को लोगों की कल्पना या समझ पर नहीं छोड़ा, यद्यपि ये वही लोग थे जो उसके साथ वाचा में बंधे हुए थे।

परमेश्वर ने उन्हें तम्बू और उसके सामान का बिलकुल सटीक स्वरूप, आकार, और नाप दिया; उसने विशेष रीति से बताया कि कौन सा सामान किस चीज़ से बनेगा, वह चीज़ किस रंग की होगी, और फिर बन जाने के बाद उस सामान को कहाँ और कैसे रखा जाएगा, और उसे कैसे उपयोग किया जाएगा। परमेश्वर ने उन्हें यह भी बताया कि यात्रा के समय तम्बू और उसके सामान को कैसे ले जाना है। परमेश्वर ने इस सामान को बनाने के तरीके को भी लोगों की कल्पना और समझ पर नहीं छोड़ा; उसने इसके लिए आवश्यक योग्यता और कार्य-कुशलता कुछ चुने हुए लोगों में डाली, ताकि वे तम्बू और सामान को ठीक वैसे ही बनाएं जैसा परमेश्वर चाहता था (निर्गमन 31:1-11; 35:30-35)।

 

जब आप निर्गमन में दिए गए इस विवरण को पढ़ते हैं, तो आप पाते हैं कि हर सामान के लिए परमेश्वर मूसा से बारंबार दोहराता है कि वह इस बात का ध्यान रखे कि हर वस्तु ठीक वैसे और वैसी ही बने जैसा परमेश्वर ने कहा है और उसे दिखाया है; निर्गमन के दूसरे अर्ध-भाग में परमेश्वर ने यह बात लगभग चालीस बार दोहराई है। एक बार जब कार्य पूरा हो गया, तब यह फिर से दोहराया गया है कि हर वस्तु ठीक वैसे और वैसी ही बनाई गई थी, जैसा परमेश्वर ने उसके लिए निर्धारित किया था (निर्गमन 39:32-43)। ऐसा हो जाने के बाद ही, निर्गमन 40 में, परमेश्वर फिर से बताता है कि कौन सी वस्तु कहाँ रखी जानी है, और मूसा वैसा ही करता है (40:16), और तब परमेश्वर उतर कर तम्बू में आता है, और उसे अपनी उपस्थिति से भर देता है (40:34); अर्थात् , हर एक बात के पूर्णतः परमेश्वर के कहे के अनुसार हो जाने के बाद ही परमेश्वर उसे स्वीकार करता है और उसमें आकर निवास करता है।

यह सब बहुत प्रबल रीति से हमारे सामने इस तथ्य को रखता है कि न तो मनुष्य की कल्पनाएँ, न उसके तरीके, और परमेश्वर के निकट या सम्मुख आने तथा उसकी आराधना करने के लिए न ही मनुष्य की अपनी गढ़ी हुई बातें परमेश्वर को प्रसन्न कर सकती हैं, उसे स्वीकार्य हो सकती हैं। परमेश्वर केवल, जैसा उसके वचन में लिखा और कहा गया है, अपनी बातों और निर्देशों के सटीक पालन किए जाने के द्वारा, उसके कहे के अनुसार ही उसकी उपासना और आराधना किए जाने के द्वारा ही प्रसन्न होता है, और किसी तरीके से नहीं। और शैतान यही प्रयास करता रहता है कि हम किसी न किसी तरह से परमेश्वर के वचन की बातों की अनदेखी कर दें, उन में अपनी इच्छा और समझ के अनुसार कुछ बदलाव कर दें, उनमें कुछ जोड़ या घटा दें; अर्थात्  परमेश्वर के वचन को परमेश्वर का वचन न रहने दें वरन बाहरी परमेश्वर के वचन के स्वरूप में उसे वास्तव में मनुष्य का वचन बना लें। और इस रीति से किसी तरह से उसका भण्डारी होने की अपनी ज़िम्मेदारी के प्रति लापरवाही करें, और परमेश्वर के वचन का अनुचित उपयोग करें या फिर हो लेने दें।

अगले लेख में हम कुछ अन्य उदाहरणों को देखेंगे जो बाइबल के इस सिद्धान्त की और अधिक पुष्टि करते हैं कि परमेश्वर और उसके वचन के साथ खिलवाड़ नहीं किया जा सकता है। परमेश्वर की आज्ञाकारिता का अर्थ न केवल उसके निर्देशों को मानना है, बल्कि उन्हें उस तरह से मानना है, जैसा वह चाहता है कि वे मानी जाएँ।

यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। स्वेच्छा से अपने पापों के लिये पश्चाताप करके, प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु, मैं अपने पापों के लिए पश्चातापी हूँ, उनके लिए आप से क्षमा माँगता हूँ। मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मुझे और मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

Improper Behavior Towards God’s Word - 6

 

In the previous article we have seen through Israel’s deliverance from Egypt by Moses, that God’s purposes can only be accomplished in God’s time, and in God’s prescribed manner. No one, not even the person who will eventually accomplish them, can take things into their own hands, and try to do it as they think is appropriate. Obedience to God means fulfilling God’s instructions, in the manner God has determined and said for them to be fulfilled. Continuing with the illustration of Israel’s journey towards the Promised land, Canaan, we will further affirm this principle of being obedient to God, through the illustration of building the Tabernacle of God for worship in the wilderness.

The second half of the Book of Exodus is about the Tabernacle that God asked to be built for His worship by Israel. God could have easily said that Israelites should be diligent in regularly worshiping Him, not as an idol, but as Spirit; they should prepare a place of worship for Him; and left it at that; allowing the Israelites to take it up and do this. But not only did God give them His Commandments, His Laws, but also for His worship, He gave them the minute details about the Tabernacle, its things, and the way He was to be worshiped. God left nothing to the discretion or imagination of His people, those who had entered into a covenant with Him.

He gave them detailed measurements of the exact size of the Tabernacle and of its objects; He specified the material and even the color of the material to be used for each and everything that was to be constructed; God gave the design of each object, and then specified where and how it had to be placed and utilized. He even told them how it had to be transported when they journeyed. Neither did God leave it to His people to devise the means and methods of constructing these objects; He put the required abilities and skills in certain chosen people, to make the things of the Tabernacle, just the way God wanted them to be (Exodus 31:1-11; 35:30-35).

 

As you read through this description in Exodus, you find that for each object, God repeatedly specifies to Moses that it has to be built and used exactly as has been specified by God and been shown to Him; God repeats this command in the second half of Exodus nearly forty times. Once the work was completed, it is again specified that everything was done exactly as God had commanded it to be done (Exodus 39:32-43). It is only after this that in Exodus 40 God specifies when, how, and where each thing has to be placed, Moses does accordingly (40:16), and then God descended and filled the Tabernacle (40:34); i.e., it was only once everything had been done according to God’s instructions, that God accepted it and came into it.

All of this so powerfully puts before us the fact that not the imaginations and devices of man, not man’s contrived methods of coming to God and worshipping God, but only doing things, following His instructions, worshipping Him, etc., exactly as specified by God in His Word, is what pleases God, and nothing else. And Satan keeps trying to get us to either disregard God’s instructions given in His Word, or to modify them, add or take away things from them, according to our own fancy; i.e., do not let God’s Word be God’s Word, but though externally appearing to be God’s word, to actually change it into man’s word. Thereby to somehow overlook and neglect our stewardship towards God’s Word, and thereby let God’s Word be used inappropriately in some manner or the other. 

In the next article we will look at some other examples to further affirm this Biblical principle that God and His Word cannot be trifled with. Obedience to God not only means obeying His instructions, but also means obeying them in the manner He wants them obeyed.

If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord, make your decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now to ensure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Repenting of your sins, and asking the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily and sincerely, surrendering yourself to Him - is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life.  Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.

पिछले कुछ लेखों में हमने परमेश्वर के वचन बाइबल के लिखे जाने के इतिहास के बारे में देखा है, कि किस प्रकार बाइबल, वास्तव में 66 पुस्तकों का संकलन है। ये पुस्तकें, अपने मूल रूप में, परमेश्वर की अगुवाई में, स्थानीय लोगों के लिए दिये गये परमेश्वर के सन्देश को देने के लिये, अलग-अलग लिखी गईं थीं। इन्हें 40 से भी अधिक लेखकों ने लगभग 1500 वर्ष के अंतराल में, तीन भिन्न भाषाओं में, तीन भिन्न महाद्वीपों पर रहते हुए लिखा था। इन्हें लिखने वाली अधिकांशतः न तो एक-दूसरे को जानते थे, न आपस में मिले थे, और न ही उन्हें पता था कि कोई अन्य कुछ लिख रहा है, या क्या लिख रहा है; और न ही किसी एक भी लेखक को पता था कि भविष्य में उनकी लिखी पुस्तकें संकलित कर के एक पुस्तक - बाइबल बन जाएगी। और अद्भुत बात यह कि इतनी विविधता और ऐसे अद्भुत इतिहास के बावजूद, बाइबल की सभी पुस्तकों में पूर्ण सामंजस्य है, कोई विरोधाभास नहीं है, सभी पुस्तकें एक दूसरे की पूरक हैं, एक दूसरे के लेखों को समझने में परस्पर सहायक हैं। हमने देखा था कि बाइबल की पुस्तकों कि लेखन शैलियों और विषयों में बहुत विविधता है। इसके बावजूद बाइबल की सभी पुस्तकों का एक केन्द्रीय विषय है - पाप में पतित मानव जाति के प्रति परमेश्वर का प्रेम, और मनुष्यों को उनके पापों से छुड़ाकर अपने साथ मेल-मिलाप करवा लेने की परमेश्वर की लालसा; और सभी पुस्तकों का एक ही केन्द्रीय पात्र है, जिसके बारे में ये पुस्तकें हैं - प्रभु यीशु मसीह। 

हमने यह भी देखा था कि किस प्रकार बाइबल का इतिहास और इसके संकलित किये जाने के बाद की पुरातत्व खोजों में पाई गई बाइबल की पुस्तकों की प्राचीन प्रतिलिपियाँ यह स्पष्ट दिखाती और प्रमाणित करती हैं कि संकलन के समय किसी पुस्तक के किसी भी लेख के साथ कोई छेड़-छाड़ नहीं की गई, सभी अपने मूल रूप में ही हैं - जो इस आरोप को पूर्णतः खारिज कर देता है कि संकलन के समय लेखों को "उचित रीति" से संपादित कर के संपादकों ने परस्पर ताल-मेल बैठा दिया होगा। पिछले लेख में हमने सारे संसार में बाइबल के प्रसार और अनुवाद से सम्बन्धित अद्भुत आँकड़ों को देखा था, जो यह स्पष्ट दिखाते हैं कि छपाई आरम्भ होने से लेकर आज दिन तक, बाइबल संसार की सर्वाधिक मुद्रित, प्रकाशित, और माँग की गई पुस्तक है, जिसका वर्तमान वितरण अरबों की सँख्या में है, और आज विश्व की कुल जन-संख्या के 0.445%, अर्थात आधे प्रतिशत से भी कम लोगों की निज भाषा में बाइबल या उसका अंश उपलब्ध नहीं है - और इस कमी को भी पूरा करने के प्रयास ज़ारी हैं। और, इन बातों को किसी भी मानवीय तर्क या गुण अथवा प्रयास के आधार पर न तो समझाया जा सकता है, न ही समझा जा सकता है। आज इसी कड़ी में हम बाइबल से सम्बन्धित एक अन्य अद्भुत तथ्य के बारे में देखेंगे - उसके बचे और उपलब्ध रहने के बारे में। संसार के इतिहास में जितना प्रयास बाइबल को नष्ट करने के लिए किया गया है, उतना किसी भी अन्य पुस्तक या ग्रंथ के लिए नहीं किया गया, किन्तु इन सभी प्रयासों के बावजूद, बाइबल सुरक्षित बनी रही, और संसार के इतिहास में सर्वाधिक बिकने तथा वितरित होने वाली पुस्तक है।

बाइबल की आरंभिक पुस्तकें papyrus (पेपिरस या भोजपत्रों) पर हाथ से लिखी गई थीं। पेपिरस मिस्र और सीरिया की नदियों और छिछले पानी के तालाबों में उगाने वाला एक प्रकार का नरकट या सरकंडा होता है, जिसे पतला काट और छील कर, उसकी परतों को आपस में दबा कर, सुखा कर कागज के समान लिखने के योग्य बनाया जाता था। अंग्रेजी शब्द paper इसी पेपिरस से बने लिखने की सामग्री से आया है। बाद में चर्मपत्रों पर, जो पशुओं की खाल से बनाए जाते थे, लिखना आरंभ हुआ। यह बहुत अचरज की बात है कि नाजुक और नाशमान, शीघ्र गल या खराब हो जाने वाले पेपिरस पर लिखे हुए उपलब्ध सबसे प्राचीन लेख लगभग 2400 ईस्वी पूर्व के हैं। 

बाइबल की लेखों की सत्यता और सही होने पर भी प्रश्न उठाए गए हैं। बाइबल के पुराने नियम की पुस्तकों को हाथ से लिखने के लिए यहूदियों में विशेष प्रशिक्षण पाए हुए लोग प्रयोग किए जाते थे। उन लेखों के हर अक्षर, मात्रा, शब्द, और परिच्छेद की गिनती की हुई थी, और प्रत्येक हस्तलिपि का प्रत्येक पृष्ठ बारीकी से उस संख्या के अनुसार सही होने के लिए लिखने वाले से भिन्न अन्य प्रशिक्षित लोगों के द्वारा जाँचा जाता था, और बिना त्रुटि के पाए जाने पर ही उसे संकलित करने के लिए स्वीकार किया जाता था, अन्यथा उसे नष्ट कर दिया जाता था, जिससे त्रुटिपूर्ण लेख की संकलित पुस्तक में सम्मिलित होने के कोई संभावना शेष न रहे। इस प्रकार से यहूदियों ने यह सुनिश्चित किया हुआ था कि उन्हें मिले परमेश्वर के वचन का हर अक्षर, मात्रा, शब्द, और अनुच्छेद ठीक वैसा ही रहे जैसे वह मूल स्वरूप में था। बाइबल की पुस्तकों से संबंधित जितने भी पुराने लेख या उनके जो भी अंश मिले हैं, उनका अवलोकन करने से यह बात स्पष्ट है कि जैसा उन पुराने लेखों में था, लेख वैसे ही आज भी विद्यमान है।

इन नाशमान सामग्रियों पर हाथ से इतने परिश्रम से लिखे जाने के बावजूद, बाइबल की अनेकों पुस्तकों के प्राचीन लेख या उनके अंश की प्रतिलिपियाँ आज भी विद्यमान हैं, समय और वातावरण के प्रभाव के कारण सभी नष्ट नहीं हुईं, और प्रमाणित करती हैं कि उन लेखों में लिखी बात सदियों और हजारों वर्षों से अपरिवर्तित चली आ रही है।

अगले लेख में हम अपने इसी विषय को ज़ारी रखेंगे, तथा कुछ अन्य सम्बन्धित तथ्यों को देखेंगे। परन्तु इस बात पर विचार कीजिए कि परमेश्वर का यह अविनाशी वचन, परमेश्वर ने हम मनुष्यों को पाप के कारण हमारा विनाश होने से हमें बचाने के लिये दिया है। और संसार के सभी लोगों के लिये परमेश्वर का यह समाधान बहुत ही सरल तथा सहज है - स्वेच्छा से अपने पापों को मान कर उनके लिए पश्चाताप कर लें, उनके लिये प्रभु यीशु से क्षमा माँगना, अपने व्यक्तिगत निर्णय से अपना जीवन प्रभु को समर्पित कर के, उसके शिष्य बन जाना, उसकी आज्ञाकारिता में चालने के लिये प्रतिबद्ध होना।

Unique in its Survival Part - 1 

In the previous few articles, we have seen about the history of how God’s Word the Bible was written. We saw that the Bible is a compilation of 66 books; and these books were written individually, under God’s guidance as God’s messages to local people. Over 40 different authors, spread out in three continents, wrote these books separately, in three different languages over a time span of about 1500 years. Most of these authors never knew each other, never met each other, never knew if, or, what anyone else was writing, and none of them knew that what they were writing would one day be compiled with other writings and form one complete book - the Bible. And the amazing fact is that despite all these astounding variety of all kinds, despite this unimaginable history of its being written, there is complete harmony amongst all the books of the Bible, there are no mutual contradictions, all the books complement each other, and help understand each other’s contents. We had also seen that there is a great variety in the writing styles and topics covered in the texts. And yet,there is one core theme of all the books - God’s love for man fallen in sin, and His deep longing for rescuing man from sin and its consequences, have man reconciled with God. Similarly, all the books are written and revolve around one core character - the Lord Jesus Christ. 

We had also seen that the history of the Bible being written and the ancient manuscripts found through archeological discoveries after the books had been compiled very clearly show that in the compilation the text of the books was not altered in any manner. This very firmly negates the false allegation often made that while compiling the books, the editors must have "suitably" edited the texts to create the harmony that is found among the texts, and remove any contradictions. In the last article we had seen some world-wide statistics related to the printing, circulation, and translation of the Bible. We saw that since the time printing of books began, the Bible has remained the most printed, published, and in-demand book all over the world, and its current distribution is counted in billions - far surpassing any other book in the world. Today, only 0.445%, i.e., less than half-a-percent of the world population, does not have the Bible or its portions in their language, and work is underway to take care of this deficiency. There is no human explanation or logic to explain and understand these astounding facts about the Bible, nor can they be understood through any human reasoning. Today, carrying on in this series, we will begin looking at another amazing fact related to the Bible - about its survival and remaining available all over the world. No other book or religious text, in the history of the entire world, has ever faced as many attempts to destroy it as the Bible has; but in spite of all these efforts, the Bible has not only remained safe, but has also been the all-time best-selling and circulated book in the history of the world.

The earliest books of the Bible were hand-written on papyrus. A papyrus is a type of reed growing in the rivers and shallow waters of Egypt and Syria, which was thinly sliced ​​and peeled, then its layers were pressed together, dried and made like paper to write upon. The English word paper comes from the writing material made from this papyrus. Later writing began on parchments, which were made from animal skins. It is astonishing that the earliest available writings on the fragile, bio-degradeable and perishable papyrus date back to around 2400 BC, and are still surviving intact.

Questions have also been raised about the veracity and correctness of Biblical writings. People with special training were used among the Jews to hand-write the Old Testament books of the Bible. Every alphabet, punctuation, word, and paragraph of those original writings had been counted and documented, and every page of each hand written manuscript was then meticulously cross-checked by trained people, other than the person writing it, to ascertain it to be correct according to those documented numbers, and be without error. It was accepted for compilation only when it was found to be completely according to the details of the original document; otherwise, it was destroyed, leaving no possibility of the erroneous article somehow getting included in the compiled book. In this way the Jews made sure that every alphabet, punctuation, word, and paragraph of the Word of God that they received remained exactly the same as it was in its original form. By comparing and evaluating all the old documents or whatever parts of them have been found related to the books of the Bible, it is clear that the writings that exist today are the same as they were in those old writings.

Despite the text being diligently handwritten on perishable materials, many copies of ancient texts or portions of many books of the Bible still exist today, not having been destroyed by the effects of time and weather, and testify that what was written in those writings, it has remained unchanged even today, over centuries and thousands of years.

In our next article, we will continue with this topic and see some other related facts. But do ponder over this fact, that God has given His indestructible Word to us humans, to save us from being destroyed by our sins. And for every person of the whole world, this God given provision is very easy and simple - voluntarily accept our sins and repent of them, ask the Lord Jesus to forgive them, and through one’s own considered decision surrender one’s life to the Lord Jesus, become His disciple, and commit to living a life of obeying Him. 

If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord, make your decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now to ensure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Repenting of your sins, and asking the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily and sincerely, surrendering yourself to Him - is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life.  Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.

    सारपत की विधवा, राजा हिजकिय्याह, नहेम्याह, और राजा यहोशापात के उदाहरणों में हमने इस बात की पुष्टि देखी है कि इन में से किसी ने भी आराधना भौतिक लाभ प्राप्त करने या किसी भी प्रकार से परमेश्वर को प्रभावित करने के लिए नहीं की। उन्होंने परमेश्वर के प्रति अपने आदर और उसकी महिमा करने के लिए आराधना की; और उन्होंने ऐसा अपने कठिन और असंभव लगने वाली परिस्थितियों में भी किया। आराधना के दौरान उनका मुख्य विचार अपनी घोर परिस्थितियों से छुटकारा पाने का था, न कि परमेश्वर से भौतिक लाभ माँगने या लेने का। परमेश्वर ने न केवल उन्हें उनकी परिस्थितियों से छुड़ाया, बल्कि अपनी इच्छा के अनुसार उन्हें भौतिक रूप से आशीष भी दी, और अकल्पनीय बहुतायत से आशीषित किया। इन उदाहरणों से हम एक बहुत महत्वपूर्ण निष्कर्ष निकाल सकते हैं — परमेश्वर के लोगों को हर स्थिति में उस पर अपना विश्वास और भरोसा बनाए रखना चाहिए। उन्हें दो आयतों पर पूर्ण रूप से स्थिर बने रहना चाहिए: पहली, 1 कुरिन्थियों 10:13 — कि परमेश्वर कभी उन्हें उनकी सामर्थ्य से बढ़कर परीक्षा में नहीं आने देगा, और साथ ही वह उससे निकलने का मार्ग भी प्रदान करेगा; और दूसरी, रोमियों 8:28 — कि हर चीज़ के माध्यम से अन्ततः परमेश्वर अपने लोगों के भले के लिए ही कार्य करता है, और कभी उन्हें हानि न होने देगा, चाहे परिस्थितियाँ कितनी भी कठिन क्यों न लगें।

    तो अब प्रश्न यह उठता है कि जब परमेश्वर अपने लोगों के भले के लिए कठिन और विपरीत सी लगने वाली परिस्थितियों का भी प्रयोग करता है, तो उस परिप्रेक्ष्य में आराधना का क्या स्थान है? जैसा कि हम पहले भी देख चुके हैं, फिलिप्पियों 4:4-7 हम से कहता है कि हम हर स्थिति में आनन्दित रहें, और हमेशा अपनी प्रार्थनाएँ परमेश्वर के सामने धन्यवाद के साथ रखें। अब, कठिनाइयों में आनन्दित रहना और आवश्यकता की स्थितियों में कृतज्ञ रहना तभी संभव है, जब कोई वास्तव में 1 कुरिन्थियों 10:13 और रोमियों 8:28 पर विश्वास रखता हो; अर्थात् वह पूर्ण रूप से भरोसा रखता है कि हर स्थिति में अन्ततः उसे लाभ ही मिलेगा, हानि कभी नहीं, और परमेश्वर उसे सुरक्षित निकाल भी लाएगा। दूसरे शब्दों में, विपरीत परिस्थितियों में दूसरों के सामने सच्ची, निष्ठापूर्ण आराधना किसी व्यक्ति के अटल विश्वास और अडिग भरोसे का स्पष्ट प्रमाण है। यह इसे भी दिखाता है कि उसकी आराधना न तो औपचारिक या रीति पूरी करना है, और न ही परमेश्वर से भौतिक लाभ या आरामदायक जीवन प्राप्त करने के लिए की जाने वाली है। बल्कि वह व्यक्ति हर स्थिति में परमेश्वर के लिए कार्य करता है, उसे आराधना अर्पित करता है, जो परमेश्वर के प्रति उसके विश्वास, भरोसे, और प्रेम की अभिव्यक्ति है — कि परमेश्वर कौन है, उसने क्या किया है, और उसने अपने लोगों के लिए कैसी योजनाएँ बनाई हैं (यिर्मयाह 29:11)।

    इस प्रकार, हम देखते हैं कि सच्ची आराधना, वह ईमानदार “प्रोस्कुनेओस” है जो आत्मा और सच्चाई में है (यूहन्ना 4:23-24), जिस प्रकार की आराधना को परमेश्वर ढूँढ़ता है, जैसा हम पहले भी बात कर चुके हैं। यह पूर्णतः परमेश्वर के द्वारा अपने निष्ठावान और समर्पित लोगों के आध्यात्मिक और शारीरिक भले के लिए कार्य करने से संबंधित है। आराधना — अर्थात् परमेश्वर का धन्यवाद, स्तुति और महिमा करना — को कभी भी परमेश्वर के अहं को संतुष्ट करने के लिये, या करने का का साधन नहीं समझा जाना चाहिए। परन्तु परमेश्वर से ये आशीषें और लाभ प्राप्त करने की कुंजी यह है कि व्यक्ति स्वेच्छा से परमेश्वर की सन्तान बने, उसके परिवार का भाग बने (यूहन्ना 1:12-13) — प्रभु यीशु मसीह में विश्वास के द्वारा — और फिर उसके प्रति निष्ठा और आज्ञाकारिता का जीवन जिए।

    यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

    In this on-going Bible study on worship, for the past few articles, we have been considering the physical benefits of worship, through examples given in God’s Word the Bible. So far we have considered the examples of the widow of Zarephath, King Hezekiah, Nehemiah, and in the last article we saw the example of King Jehoshaphat. In the example of King Jehoshaphat, we have seen how through worship, he turned an impending defeat and annihilation into a tremendous victory and unimaginable material blessings. But there is more to ponder over and learn over here, which we will see today, and then draw some lessons and conclusions from what we have seen on this topic so far. We had closed the last article with the five worships of King Jehoshaphat given in 2 Chronicles chapter 20, of which the fourth worship was after the people had collected the spoils of war.

    Let us look at this part of the narrative in some detail, and ponder over the implications. Take a look at 2 Chronicles 20:25 "When Jehoshaphat and his people came to take away their spoil, they found among them an abundance of valuables on the dead bodies, and precious jewelry, which they stripped off for themselves, more than they could carry away; and they were three days gathering the spoil because there was so much." From this, you can imagine the amount of valuables and jewellery that was present on the bodies of the soldiers that had come to attack and annihilate King Jehoshaphat. Does it not strike as very strange, that three different armies, from different places, collectively coming to overpower Jehoshaphat, they all came for war wearing and carrying valuables and jewelry, and that too in such abundance, that it took Jehoshaphat’s people three days just to gather the spoils off them! If one were to say that they might have gathered all this from the people on the way that they passed through to Jehoshaphat’s Kingdom, then consider the first two verses of this chapter, which specifically states that they were coming only to conquer Jehoshaphat, and no mention is made of their invading and conquering any other people en-route. Imagine, armies of three different nations coming for war, yet carrying more valuables and jewelry than weapons.

    We have seen earlier, that King Jehoshaphat was a godly King, who sincerely revered God, and worked for His glory. And this was God’s way of blessing him – he did not have to leave his land, none of his people had to fight, get hurt, or die in any battle, and yet God gave them so much, that they could never have got it on their own, had they gone conquering and plundering the people around them – which they never could have done, since their own army was not sufficient for it. What Jehoshaphat could not do by going out, God did for him, by bringing it all to his doorstep from and through his neighbors – a fulfilment of Ecclesiastes 2:26; showing how God cares for those faithful to Him and His work. There is another very important lesson here for the people of God – sometimes, God’s blessings come disguised as adversity and calamity. But those who continue to maintain their faith and trust in God and His provisions even in the seemingly deleterious situations, will reap an unimaginable abundance of blessings from God, even in unbelievable ways.

    In the examples of the widow of Zarephath, King Hezekiah, Nehemiah, and King Jehoshaphat, we saw the affirmation of what we have been saying right through in these articles, that none of them worshiped to obtain any material benefits, or manipulate God for anything in any manner. They worshiped out of their reverence for God and to honor God, to glorify Him; and they did so even in their problems and seemingly impossible and unsurmountable situations. While worshiping God, their main concern was deliverance from their untoward situations, and not that God provide material benefits in any way. God not only delivered them from their situations, but also blessed them materially, as per His discretion, and blessed them with unimaginable abundance. This is a very important conclusion and lesson we can draw from these examples – God’s people must maintain their faith and trust in Him, for everything, in all situations. They must totally hold on to two verses: firstly, 1 Corinthians 10:13 – that God will never let them get into a situation beyond their ability to handle, and yet will also provide the way out of it; and secondly, Romans 8:28 – through everything, eventually God will do only that which eventually is beneficial for His people, and never let them be harmed in any way, howsoever impossible and harmful a situation may seem to be.

    So, where does worship fit into this scenario of God allowing and using even the seemingly adverse situations for the benefit of His people? As we have seen earlier, Philippians 4:4-7 exhort us to be joyful in all circumstances, and to always present our prayers to God with thanksgiving. Now, this, being joyful in adversities and thankful in situations of being in need is only possible, if one really does believe in 1 Corinthians 10:13 and Romans 8:28, as stated above; i.e., they fully trust that in and through everything they will only benefit, never be harmed, and God will bring them out safe and secure. In other words, true, sincere worship in adverse situations before others, is evident proof of a person’s unwavering faith and undoubting trust in God. It also shows and proves that his worship is neither formal and ritualistic, nor meant to manipulate God for blessings, material things, and for an easy-going life of comfort. Rather, the person works for God, worships Him in all situations and circumstances, as an expression of his faith, trust, and adoration of God – for who He is, and what He has done, and what He has planned for His people (Jeremiah 29:11).

    So, we see that true worship, the sincere “proskuneos” in spirit and truth (John 4:23-24), that God is looking for, that we have talked about earlier. It is all about God working things out for the spiritual and physical benefits of His sincere and committed people. Worship, i.e., thanking, praising and exalting God in various ways is not to be seen or understood as something done to satisfy God’s ego in any way. But the key to receiving these blessings and benefits from God is that one has to voluntarily decide be a child of God, a part of His family (John 1:12-13) through coming to faith in the Lord Jesus, and then live a life of sincere commitment and obedience to Him.

    If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord Jesus, then to ensure your eternal life and heavenly rewards, take a decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now. Wherever there is surrender and obedience towards the Lord Jesus, the Lord’s blessings and safety are also there. If you are still not Born Again, have not obtained salvation, or have not asked the Lord Jesus for forgiveness for your sins, then you have the opportunity to do so right now. A short prayer said voluntarily with a sincere heart, with heartfelt repentance for your sins, and a fully submissive attitude, “Lord Jesus, I confess that I have disobeyed You, and have knowingly or unknowingly, in mind, in thought, in attitude, and in deeds, committed sins. I believe that you have fully borne the punishment of my sins by your sacrifice on the cross, and have paid the full price of those sins for all eternity. Please forgive my sins, change my heart and mind towards you, and make me your disciple, take me with you." God longs for your company and wants to see you blessed, but to make this possible, is your personal decision. Will you not say this prayer now, while you have the time and opportunity to do so – the decision is yours.
