आराधना में बाधाएँ (1) - आराधना को न जानना

आराधना के बारे में ज़ारी हमारे अध्ययन में हमने देखा है कि आराधना क्या है, मसीही विश्वासी के लिए यह क्यूँ अनिवार्य है, मसीही जीवन और सेवकाई पर इससे आने वाले विभिन्न प्रभाव क्या हैं, और इससे मसीही विश्वासी को क्या लाभ - दोनों, आत्मिक एवं भौतिक, होते हैं। आज से हम देखना आरंभ करेंगे कि हमें सच्ची आराधना करने से बाधित करनी वाली क्या-क्या बातें हैं; जिन के कारण हम सच्ची आराधना नहीं करने पाते हैं, जिससे फिर परमेश्वर के लिए उतने उपयोगी नहीं होते हैं, और न ही अपने मसीही जीवन में उतने उन्नत तथा लाभान्वित होने पाते हैं, जितना होना चाहिए।

हम देख चुके हैं परमेश्वर की आराधना करना, परमेश्वर के साथ हमारे संबंधों का एक अनिवार्य और आशीषित भाग है, ऐसा जो हमारे जीवनों को इस लोक तथा परलोक के लिए परमेश्वर की बहुतायत की आशीषों से भर देता है। किन्तु फिर भी परमेश्वर की आराधना तथा महिमा करना ऐसी बात है जो अकसर न तो ठीक से समझी जाती है, और न ही की जाती है। पहली बात जो लोगों को सच्ची आराधना करने से बाधित करती है, वह है यह नहीं जानना कि सच्ची आराधना है क्या। इस जानकारी का न होना उनमें विभिन्न प्रकार से प्रकट होती है, और अब हम इस बात को देखना आरंभ करेंगे।

सामान्यतः आराधना को गीत गाना और प्रार्थना करना समझ लिया जाता है। लगभग सभी डिनॉमिनेशंस की कलीसियाओं की सभाओं में सामूहिक गीत गाने का प्रचालन है, और इसे ही सामूहिक आराधना के समान स्वीकार कर लिया जाता है। यद्यपि गीत गाना आराधना करने का स्वरूप है, किन्तु यदि यह परम्परागत रीति से तथा रटे हुए गीत गाना मात्र ही है, या, यदि गाने वाले का मन और हृदय उस गीत और उसे गाने में नहीं है, तो फिर यह निरर्थक आराधना “आत्मा और सच्चाई” की वह आराधना नहीं है जो परमेश्वर चाहता है, और व्यर्थ आराधना है। न केवल कलीसिया के रूप में सामूहिक आराधना, किन्तु व्यक्तिगत आराधना, परमेश्वर की संतान होने के नाते व्यक्ति का स्वर्गीय पिता के पास आना, उसकी महिमा तथा गुणानुवाद करना, प्रत्येक मसीही विश्वासी के जीवन में बहुत आवश्यक है, और परमेश्वर यही चाहता भी है। यह बहुत आम रीति से देखा जाता है कि व्यक्तिगत आराधना करते समय, धन्यवाद के कुछ शब्दों को कहने के पश्चात अधिकांश लोग प्रार्थना करने लग जाते हैं, परमेश्वर से माँगने लग जाते हैं - चाहे वह औरों के लिए आशीष ही क्यों न हो। इस  मूल भिन्नता को, कि परमेश्वर से कुछ माँगना प्रार्थना है, और परमेश्वर को कुछ देना आराधना है अकसर लोगों द्वारा स्पष्टता से समझा नहीं जाता है, उसे ध्यान में नहीं रखा जता है, इसीलिए उसका पालन भी नहीं किया जाता है।

परमेश्वर की आराधना करना, रीति के अनुसार धार्मिक परंपराओं और गतिविधियों का पालन करना नहीं है, और न ही यह औपचारिक रीति से कुछ निर्धारित धार्मिक अनुष्ठानों की पूर्ति करना है। हम यशायाह 1:11-20 में देखते हैं कि परमेश्वर अपने लोगों को फटकार लगाता है, क्योंकि वे अब उसके आज्ञाकारी नहीं रहे थे, उनमें उसके प्रति सच्ची श्रद्धा नहीं थी; वे केवल रीति के अनुसार, औपचारिक तरीके से निर्धारित पर्व, भेंट और बलिदानों का निर्वाह कर रहे थे। किन्तु यह परमेश्वर को स्वीकार्य नहीं था; यशायाह 1:13-14 में परमेश्वर इन के लिए ‘व्यर्थ अन्नबलि’, ‘घृणा’, ‘बुरा लगना’, ‘अनर्थ’, ‘सहा नहीं जाता’, ‘बैर’, ‘बोझ’, ‘सहना’, ‘उकताना’ जैसे शब्दों का प्रयोग करता है, और उनका पूर्णतः तिरस्कार कर देता है। मलाकी 1:10 में परमेश्वर किसी ऐसे जन की लालसा कर रहा है जो आराधना के स्थान के दरवाज़ों को बन्द कर दे जिससे लोग आकर व्यर्थ आराधना न चढ़ाने पाएं। ऐसी ही परिस्थिति प्रभु यीशु की पृथ्वी की सेवकाई के दिनों में भी व्याप्त थी। मंदिर में, रीति के अनुसार औपचारिक आराधना की जाती थी, किन्तु उसमें परमेश्वर के प्रति न तो समर्पण था और न ही सच्ची श्रद्धा। प्रभु ने दो बार मंदिर को ऐसे व्यर्थ के कर्मकांड से स्वच्छ किया, एक बार अपनी सेवकाई के आरंभ में (यूहन्ना 2:14-16), और फिर अपनी पृथ्वी की सेवकाई के अन्त के निकट, और उस मंदिर को, जहाँ पर यह सब हो रहा था, डाकुओं की खोह भी कहा (मरकुस 11:15-17)। साथ ही, क्योंकि उस समय के धार्मिक अगुवों ने अपनी सुविधा के लिए परमेश्वर के वचन की गलत व्याख्याएं की हुई थीं और उसका दुरुपयोग करते थे, उन्हीं गलत बातों को सिखाते तथा पालन करवाते थे, इसलिए प्रभु ने उनकी इस आराधना को “व्यर्थ आराधना” कहा (मत्ती 15:8-9)।

अगले लेख में हम इसी विषय पर कुछ और बातों को देखेंगे कि क्या करना सच्ची आराधना नहीं है।

यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

Obstacles to Worship (1) - Not Knowing Worship

In our on-going study about worship, we have seen what worship is, why it is necessary for a Christian Believer, its effects on various aspects related to Christian life and ministry, and how it benefits the Christian Believer - both materially and spiritually. From today we will see what are the things that keep us from truly worshipping God; and, therefore, from growing in our spiritual lives, from being useful for God, and from being benefitted in our lives of faith.

 

We have seen that worshiping and glorifying God is such an essential and blessed part of our relationship with God, one that fills our life with God’s abundant blessings, in this world as well as the next. Yet worshiping and glorifying God is something that is usually neither well understood nor done. The first obstacle that keeps people from truly worshipping God is their not knowing what worship actually is. This deficiency manifests in various forms, and we will begin looking at them now.

Worshiping is often taken to be the same as either singing songs, or praying. Congregational singing of songs, with or without a choir is often seen and accepted as congregational worship in nearly all the denominational Churches. While singing songs is a way of worshipping God, but if it is done by rote and ritualistically, or with the person’s heart not being in it, then such meaningless worship does not qualify as the “worship in spirit and in truth” that God is looking for, and is vain. Not just congregational, but personal worship, as an individual, as a child of God coming before the heavenly father to praise and exalt Him is essential in every Believer’s life, and is what God mainly desires. It is not unusual to find that during individual worship, i.e., after a few words of thanksgiving, many people start praying i.e., asking for things - even blessings upon others. The basic difference that asking from God is praying, and giving to God is worshiping is often not well understood, therefore it is neither kept in mind nor practiced.

Worshipping God is not a mere ritualistic fulfillment of religious traditions and procedures, it is not the perfunctory carrying out of some prescribed religious activities. We see in Isaiah 1:11-20 that God castigates His people, because they had fallen away from being obedient and reverential to God and slipped into ritualistically carrying out the prescribed feasts, offerings, and sacrifices. But this was not acceptable to God; in Isaiah 1:13-14 God calls these ‘futile sacrifices’, ‘abominations’, ‘hateful’, ‘troublesome’, ‘things that weary Him’ and rejects them altogether. In Malachi 1:10 God yearns for someone who would close the doors of the places of worship so that people can no longer offer any vain worship. A similar situation was prevailing during the time of the Lord’s earthly ministry; ritualistic worship was being carried out in the Temple, without any reverence and commitment to God. The Lord cleansed the Temple twice - at the beginning of His ministry (John 2:14-16), and towards the end of His earthly ministry, even called the Temple, where all this was happening, a den of thieves instead of being a house of worship (Mark 11:15-17). Moreover, since the religious leaders had misinterpreted and misused God’s Word, to suit their convenience, and used their misinterpretations to teach and practice wrong things about following and worshipping God. The Lord Jesus called their worship of God as “vain worship” (Matthew 15:8-9).

In the next article we will look at some more things, and continue about not knowing what true worship actually is.

Wherever there is surrender and obedience towards the Lord Jesus, the Lord’s blessings and safety are also there. If you are still not Born Again, have not obtained salvation, or have not asked the Lord Jesus for forgiveness for your sins, then you have the opportunity to do so right now. A short prayer said voluntarily with a sincere heart, with heartfelt repentance for your sins, and a fully submissive attitude, “Lord Jesus, I confess that I have disobeyed You, and have knowingly or unknowingly, in mind, in thought, in attitude, and in deeds, committed sins. I believe that you have fully borne the punishment of my sins by your sacrifice on the cross, and have paid the full price of those sins for all eternity. Please forgive my sins, change my heart and mind towards you, and make me your disciple, take me with you." God longs for your company and wants to see you blessed, but to make this possible, is your personal decision. Will you not say this prayer now, while you have the time and opportunity to do so - the decision is yours.

आराधना के भौतिक लाभ (5)

हमारे इस अध्ययन में कि वास्तव में आराधना क्या है और यह क्यों मसीहियों, अर्थात प्रभु यीशु के शिष्यों के लिए आवश्यक है, पिछले कुछ लेखों से हम देख रहे हैं कि किस प्रकार से केवल प्रार्थना करने से कहीं अधिक लाभकारी आराधना भी करना होता है। हमने देखा है कि प्रार्थना के साथ आराधना को सम्मिलित करना प्रार्थना को बहुत प्रभावी और कार्यकारी बना देता है। साथ ही हमने यह भी देखा है कि आराधना के लाभ केवल आत्मिक ही नहीं बल्कि भौतिक और शारीरिक भी होते हैं; किन्तु हम आराधना को परमेश्वर को हमारी इच्छा के अनुसार कुछ पार्थिव लाभ प्रदान करने के लिए उपकरण के समान प्रयोग नहीं कर सकते हैं। आराधना के प्रत्युत्तर में पार्थिव लाभों को प्राप्त करने के बाइबल के उदाहरणों में हम दो लोगों, राजा हिजकिय्याह और नहेम्याह के उदाहरणों से देख चुके हैं; और आज हम एक और व्यक्ति, राजा यहोशापात के उदाहरण से देखेंगे।

हम राजा यहोशापात के बारे में पहले भी देख चुके हैं, जब हम देख रहे थे कि किस प्रकार से आराधना, प्रार्थना को और अधिक प्रभावी बनाती है। आज भी हम परमेश्वर के वचन के उसी खण्ड, अर्थात 2 इतिहास 20 अध्याय, को ही लेंगे, और देखेंगे कि किस प्रकार से आराधना के द्वारा यहोशापात न केवल उस पर आने वाली विपत्ति से बच सका, वरन उसे बहुतायत से भौतिक आशीषें भी मिलीं, उसकी कल्पना और अपेक्षा से कहीं अधिक बढ़कर। हम देखते हैं कि इस अध्याय में यहोशापात पाँच बार आराधना करता है। उसकी पहली आराधना उसके छुटकारे के लिए प्रार्थना के साथ की गई थी; उसकी दूसरी आराधना, इस प्रार्थना के प्रत्युत्तर में परमेश्वर से मिले आश्वासन के बाद है; तीसरी आराधना परमेश्वर की आज्ञाकारिता में कार्य करने के साथ है; चौथी आराधना उस विपरीत प्रतीत होने वाली परिस्थिति से छूटने तथा साथ ही अप्रत्याशित संपदा प्राप्त करने के बाद है; और पाँचवीं आराधना यरूशलेम लौटकर परमेश्वर के भवन में की गई है।

परमेश्वर के भय में चलने वाले राजा यहोशापात को पता चलता है कि तीन प्रबल राज्य एक साथ होकर उस पर हमला करने और उसे नाश करने के लिए आ रहे हैं। यह सुनने के बाद, अपनी दुर्बल स्थिति को पहचानते हुए, तथा यह समझते हुए कि उसे कुछ सूझ नहीं रहा है कि इस स्थिति का सामना कैसे किया जाए, राजा यहोशापात अपनी प्रजा से कहता है कि छुटकारे के लिए उसके साथ मिलकर परमेश्वर से प्रार्थना करें। छुटकारे के लिए उनकी यह प्रार्थना पद 6 से 12 में दी गई है। इन 7 पदों में से 6 पद यहोशापात की आराधना हैं, जबकि उसकी प्रार्थना केवल एक पद, पद 12 में ही है। विपत्ति के समय में भी यहोशापात की आराधना, उसकी प्रार्थना से कहीं अधिक थी:

पद 6: गुणानुवाद - स्वर्ग में परमेश्वर, जो बल और पराक्रम रखने वाला है , जिसका सामना कोई नहीं कर सकता है।

स्तुति - वह जाति-जाति के सब राज्यों पर प्रभुता रखने वाला परमेश्वर है।

पद 7: स्तुति - परमेश्वर द्वारा इस्राएलियों को लाकर कनान में बसाना।

पद 8: स्तुति -  परमेश्वर के भवन का बनाया जाना।

पद 9: स्तुति - परमेश्वर द्वारा बचाने के लिए दी गई प्रतिज्ञा का स्मरण करना। 

गुणानुवाद - परमेश्वर का नाम उसके भवन में बसा है, ऊँचा उठाना।

पद 10: स्तुति - इस्राएलियों की कनान तक की यात्रा में इन्हीं जातियों को उनकी हानि करने से परमेश्वर द्वारा रोके रखना।

पद 11: स्तुति - परमेश्वर द्वारा उन्हें कनान की भूमि दिया जाना।

पद 12: प्रार्थना - यहोशापात केवल अपनी समस्या को लाकर परमेश्वर के हाथों में रख देता है, उस से निपटने की अपनी अयोग्यता का अंगीकार करता है, और यह भी मान लेता है कि उसे सूझ नहीं पड़ रहा है कि इसके लिए क्या करे। यहाँ पर यह ध्यान देने योग्य बात है कि परमेश्वर के सामने अपने अपनी प्रार्थना रखते समय, वह प्रार्थना के उत्तर के विषय परमेश्वर को कोई निर्देश नहीं देता है; अर्थात, किसी भी प्रकार से परमेश्वर को कोई सुझाव नहीं देता है कि समस्या का क्या और कैसे समाधान किया जाए।

इस अध्याय में, इस प्रार्थना और आराधना के बाद, यहजीएल में होकर परमेश्वर द्वारा छुटकारे का आश्वासन मिलने (पद 15-17) के पश्चात, चार और आराधनाएँ हैं। दूसरी आराधना पद 18-19 में दी गई है, परमेश्वर से आश्वासन मिलने के बाद यहोशापात और यहूदा परमेश्वर के आगे दण्डवत करते हैं, ऊंचे स्वर में उसकी स्तुति और गुणगान करते है। इसके बाद तीसरी आराधना पद 21 में है, जब परमेश्वर की आज्ञाकारिता में यहोशापात सेना को युद्ध-भूमि में भेजता है, और सेना के आगे स्तुति और गुणगान करने वाले, दुश्मनों के सामने, ऊंचे स्वर में परमेश्वर की आराधना करते हुए चलते हैं। फिर चौथी आराधना धन्यवाद के रूप में है, जब उन्हें विजय मिल जाती है, समस्या का समाधान हो जाता है, और अनपेक्षित रीति से अपार संपत्ति भी साथ में मिल जाती है (पद 26), यह भजन 50:15 का व्यावहारिक पूरा करना है। पाँचवीं आराधना परमेश्वर के भवन में, यरूशलेम वापस लौटने के पश्चात की जाती है (पद 27-28)। कुल मिलाकर परिणाम यह मिला कि न केवल शत्रुओं की समस्या का स्थाई समाधान हो गया, बल्कि यहोशापात और उसकी प्रजा को बहुत अधिक संपत्ति भी मिल गई, और आने वाले समय के लिए शान्ति और स्थिरता भी निश्चित हो गई (पद 29-30)।

इन तीन लोगों, राजा हिजकिय्याह, नहेम्याह, और राजा यहोशापात, के उदाहरणों में हम देखते हैं कि उन में से किसी ने भी आराधना कोई भौतिक या पार्थिव आशीष प्राप्त करने के लिए नहीं की। उन्होंने, अपनी विपरीत परिस्थिति, अपनी विपत्ति में भी, आराधना परमेश्वर के प्रति उनकी श्रद्धा और आदर के कारण, परमेश्वर की महिमा करने के लिए की। परमेश्वर की आराधना करते समय उनकी मुख्य भावना अपनी परिस्थिति और समस्या से छुटकारा पाना था, न कि परमेश्वर से कोई पार्थिव या भौतिक आशीष प्राप्त करना। न केवल परमेश्वर ने उन्हें उनकी परेशानियों और परिस्थितियों से छुड़ाया, बल्कि, अपनी इच्छा और योजना के अनुसार, उन्हें भौतिक आशीषों से भी परिपूर्ण किया।

English Translation

The Material Blessings of Worship (5)

In our study on what worship actually is and why it is essential for Christians, the disciples of the Lord Jesus, for the past few articles we have been studying about how worshipping God is immensely more beneficial than only praying. We have seen that combining prayers with worship makes it much more effective and fruitful. We have also seen that the benefits of worship are not only spiritual, but physical and material as well; but we cannot make worship a tool for manipulating God and extracting temporal benefits from Him. In considering Biblical examples of receiving temporal benefits as a consequence of worship, we have seen from two examples, of King Hezekiah, and of Nehemiah; and today we will see from another example, that of King Jehoshaphat.

We have seen King Jehoshaphat’s example earlier also, when considering how worship makes prayers more effective. Today we will take the same portion of God’s Word, i.e., 2 Chronicles chapter 20, and see how worship not only delivered Jehoshaphat from the impending calamity, but also brought him an abundance of material benefits, way beyond his imagination and expectation. In this chapter we see that Jehoshaphat worships God five times. Jehoshaphat’s first worship is part of his prayer to God for deliverance; his second worship is on receiving God’s assurance in response to their prayers; the third worship is while obeying God to act upon what He has said; the fourth is after their deliverance from the situation and also receiving an unexpected bounty through that apparent adversity; the fifth worship is in the house of God, after returning back to Jerusalem.

The godly King Jehoshaphat receives information that he is about to be attacked by three mighty nations, who have gathered together to come and destroy him. Upon hearing about this, and realizing his own weak situation and inability to face them, King Jehoshaphat, asks his whole kingdom to pray to God for deliverance. His prayer for this deliverance is given from verse 6 to 12. Out of the 7 verses, his actual prayer for deliverance is only in verse 12; the rest of the 6 verses are Jehoshaphat’s Worship; i.e., Jehoshaphat’s worship, even in the time of adversity, far exceeds his prayer:

Verse 6: Exaltation – God of heaven, having power and might, no one is able to stand against God.

    Praise – He is the God who rules over kingdoms

Verse 7: Praise – recalls God’s work of settling Israelites in Canaan

Verse 8: Praise – Sanctuary built for God

Verse 9: Praise – recalls promise of Deliverance

    Exaltation – God’s name is in the Temple

Verse 10: Praise – Withholding the Ammonites, Moabites and people of Mount Seir – the Edomites, from attacking Israel during their journey to Canaan.

Verse 11: Praise – recalls God giving them the possession of Canaan.

Verse 12: Prayer – Jehoshaphat simply puts forth his problem into God’s hands, confessing his physical inability to fight the attackers, and mental inadequacy to figure out what to do about it. It is important to note that while putting his prayer before God, he does not direct God in any way about answering it, i.e., without in any manner telling God how to solve it, or what to do about it.   

This worship and prayer, after he receives assurance of God’s deliverance through Jahaziel (verses 15-17), is followed by four more acts of worship. The second worship is in verse 18-19, Jehoshaphat and Judah worship by bowing down to the Lord, and singing His praises with a loud voice, on receiving God’s answer and assurance. This is followed by the third act of worship (verse 21) in sending the army into the battle-field, with the singers leading the army while singing and loudly exalting God before the enemies. And as soon as this worship in the battle-field began, God acted and Jehoshaphat’s problem was solved (verse 22). His fourth Worship is in the form of Thanksgiving, after collecting the spoils of war (verse 26), a practical fulfillment of Psalm 50:15. The fifth worship is carried out in the house of God after returning to Jerusalem (verse 27-28). The net result is not only a complete deliverance from the problem of enemies, but also an overall abundance of temporal riches for Jehoshaphat and his people, along with peace and stability for times to come (verses 29-30).

In the examples of King Hezekiah, Nehemiah, and King Jehoshaphat, we see that none of them worshipped to obtain any material benefits. They worshipped out of their reverence and honor of God, to glorify Him, even in their problems. While worshipping God, their main concern was deliverance from their situations, and not that God provide material benefits in any way. God not only delivered them from their situations, but also blessed them materially, as per His discretion.

 

If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord Jesus, then to ensure your eternal life and heavenly rewards, take a decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now. Wherever there is surrender and obedience towards the Lord Jesus, the Lord’s blessings and safety are also there. If you are still not Born Again, have not obtained salvation, or have not asked the Lord Jesus for forgiveness for your sins, then you have the opportunity to do so right now. A short prayer said voluntarily with a sincere heart, with heartfelt repentance for your sins, and a fully submissive attitude, “Lord Jesus, I confess that I have disobeyed You, and have knowingly or unknowingly, in mind, in thought, in attitude, and in deeds, committed sins. I believe that you have fully borne the punishment of my sins by your sacrifice on the cross, and have paid the full price of those sins for all eternity. Please forgive my sins, change my heart and mind towards you, and make me your disciple, take me with you." God longs for your company and wants to see you blessed, but to make this possible, is your personal decision. Will you not say this prayer now, while you have the time and opportunity to do so - the decision is yours.

आराधना के भौतिक लाभ (4)

हम पिछले कुछ लेखों से परमेश्वर की आराधना करने, अर्थात उसे देने के भौतिक और शारीरिक लाभों को देखते आ रहे हैं। पिछले लेख में हमने परमेश्वर के समर्पित और प्रतिबद्ध राजा हिजकिय्याह के उदाहरण से देखा था कि किस प्रकार से परमेश्वर के प्रति समर्पित, आज्ञाकारी और विश्वासयोग्य बने रहने, तथा परमेश्वर को देने, उसकी आराधना करने वाला होने के कारण, उस पर तथा उसकी प्रजा पर इतनी बहुतायत से भौतिक आशीषें आईं कि उनके पास उन्हें रखने के लिए स्थान कम पड़ गया, और उन्हें परमेश्वर की आशीषों को रखने के लिए नए स्थान बनाने पड़े। आज हम नहेम्याह के जीवन से देखेंगे कि किस प्रकार से परमेश्वर के प्रति विश्वासयोग्य होना और उसे प्रार्थना तथा आराधना के साथ निभाना, भौतिक एवं शारीरिक वस्तुओं के अतिरिक्त कई प्रकार की आशीषें ले आता है, जैसे कि लोग और अधिकारी पक्ष में हो जाते हैं, तरक्की मिलती है, बौद्धिक और प्रशासनिक योग्यताएँ तथा अधिकार मिलते हैं, शैतानी युक्तियों और हमलों पर विजय मिलती है, अद्भुत कार्य करने की क्षमता मिलती है, आदि।

पृष्ठभूमि यह है कि नहेम्याह एक भक्त यहूदी है जो अब, बेबीलोन की बंधुवाई के कारण  अपने परिवार के साथ निर्वासन में रह रहा है। हम नहेम्याह 1:1-4से देखते हैं कि कुछ रिश्तेदार नहेम्याह से मिलने आते हैं और उसे यरूशलेम की बहुत दुखदायी और बुरी दशा के बारे में बताते हैं। यरूशलेम की दुर्दशा से आहत होकर, नहेम्याह वहाँ के लिए कुछ सकारात्मक करना चाहता है, यद्यपि वह केवल राजा का पिलानेहारा मात्र ही है, वह उसके पुनःनिर्माण, और मरम्मत के कार्य में संलग्न होना चाहता है। किन्तु वह यह तब तक नहीं कर सकता है जब तक कि राजा, जिसका वह पिलानेहारा है, उसे जाने और यह करने की अनुमति नहीं दे देता है। अपने लिए अनुमति तथा पुनःनिर्माण में सहायता मिलने के लिए वह परमेश्वर से हस्तक्षेप करने के लिए प्रार्थना करता है - जो नीतिवचन 21:1 के निर्वाह का एक व्यावहारिक उदाहरण है। इसके विषय उसकी प्रार्थना नहेम्याह 1:5-11 में दर्ज की गई है। इस 7 पदों की प्रार्थना में हम देखते हैं कि नहेम्याह की वास्तविक प्रार्थना केवल पद 11 ही में दी गई है। पद 5-10 नहेम्याह की आराधना हैं, प्रार्थना को अर्पित करने की तैयारी है।

यहाँ पर नहेम्याह द्वारा प्रयोग किए गए प्रार्थना और आराधना के विभिन्न स्वरूप हैं:

पद 5: गुणानुवाद - स्वर्ग के परमेश्वर, महान और भय योग्य ईश्वर

स्तुति - वाचा का निर्वाह करने वाला, करुणा करने वाला

पद 6-7: अपने लोगों के लिए पापों का अंगीकार और मध्यस्थता

पद 8-10: स्तुति - परमेश्वर के वचनों और वाचाओं को स्मरण करना, उन्हें दोहराना; परमेश्वर में अपने विश्वास को व्यक्त करना; परमेश्वर के छुटकारे को याद करना; और परमेश्वर की सामर्थ्य और उसके बलवंत हाथ को याद करना।

पद 11: प्रार्थना - उसकी वास्तविक प्रार्थना, कि परमेश्वर की महिमा करने, उसके लिए कार्य करने, उसके स्थान को बहाल करने आदि की उसकी इच्छा पूरी हो जाए।

इससे आगे के अध्यायों में हम देखते हैं कि राजा देखता है कि कुछ है जो नहेम्याह को परेशान कर रहा है, और वह उसके विषय उस से पूछ-ताछ करता है, और फिर उसे अनुमति प्रदान कर देता है कि वह जाकर इस कार्य को करे; उसे इसके लिए वहाँ के अधिकारियों के ऊपर अधिकार देता है। नहेम्याह तैयारी कर के यरूशलेम को जाता है, और बहुत सारी बाधाओं तथा उसे निराश करने, काम से रोकने के प्रयास करने के बावजूद वह शहरपनाह को बनाने का कार्य अभूतपूर्व, अप्रत्याशित 52 दिन ही में पूरा कर लेता है (नहेम्याह 6:15), और राजा द्वारा उसे ही अधिपति या गवर्नर बना दिया जाता है (नहेम्याह 6:14)। उस क्षेत्र का गवर्नर होने पर भी वह परमेश्वर की महिमा और आराधना करने वाले, परमेश्वर को देते रहने वाले अपने हृदय के उदाहरण अपने जीवन एवं व्यवहार से देता रहता है (नहेम्याह 5:14, 18; 7:70; 8:9-10)। यह एक बहुत साधारण सा, किन्तु परमेश्वर का भय मानने वाला, भक्त, और आराधना करने वाला यहूदी, यद्यपि सारी परिस्थितियाँ और संभावनाएं उसके विरुद्ध थीं, फिर भी परमेश्वर के लिए कार्य करने की लालसा रखता था, और परमेश्वर के अनुग्रह, बुद्धिमत्ता, मार्गदर्शन, और सामर्थ्य से ऐसा कर भी सका। मात्र राजा का पिलानेहारा होने के स्तर से बढ़कर वह अधिकारियों पर अधिकार रखने वाला बना, और फिर अन्ततः गवर्नर भी बन गया। गवर्नर के इस उच्च ओहदे पर पहुंचकर भी वह परमेश्वर को आदर और महिमा देता ही रहा; और परमेश्वर के अनन्त, अपरिवर्तनीय, अटल वचन में हमेशा के लिए एक उदाहरण बन गया।

यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

The Material Blessings of Worship (4)

We have been considering the physical benefits of worshipping God, i.e., giving to God, for the past few articles. In the last article, from the example of the godly King Hezekiah we had seen how being committed, faithful, and obedient to God, and giving to God, i.e., worshipping God brought such abundant blessings to the people, that there was not enough room to store it; they had to build new storehouses to keep the abundance God gave them. Today we will see from the life of Nehemiah, how faithfulness towards God and combining prayer with worship leads to various kinds of blessings like getting favor, promotion, intellectual and administrative abilities, authority, victory over satanic influences and attacks, capabilities of doing extra-ordinary things, etc., besides the material blessings.

The background is that Nehemiah is a pious Jew, from a family now living in Persia, due to their Babylonian exile. We learn from Nehemiah 1:1-4, that relatives come to meet them and tell him about the very sad and run-down condition of Jerusalem. Distressed about the ruinous situation of Jerusalem, although he is only a cup-bearer to the King, yet, he wants to do something constructive about it, wants to be actively involved in the repair and reconstruction. But he cannot do this, unless the King whom he serves as a cup-bearer, permits him to go. To get the King’s permission, for himself, as well as help in the reconstruction, he seeks God’s intervention - a practical example of Proverbs 21:1, and prays to God about it. His prayer for this is recorded in Nehemiah 1:5-11. In this prayer of 7 verses, we see that Nehemiah’s actual prayer is only in verse 11. Verse 5 to 10 are Nehemiah’s worship, preparing for the putting forth of the prayer.

 

The various elements of Worship and Prayer that he uses here are:

Verse 5: Exaltation – Lord God of heaven, great and awesome God

              Praise – Covenant keeping, Merciful

Verse 6-7: Confession and intercession on behalf of his people

Verse 8-10: Praise – Remembering and recalling God’s Word and promises; expresses faith in God and His promises; recalls redemption done by the Lord, and exalts God, i.e.; speaks of God’s Power and strong hand

Verse 11: Prayer – actual prayer that his wish of glorifying God, working for Him, restoring God’s place, be granted.

In the subsequent chapters we see that the King sees that something is troubling Nehemiah, the King enquires from Nehemiah about it, then grants him the permission and authority to go and carry out this work; gives him authority over the governors of that region for this work; Nehemiah prepares and goes to Jerusalem, despite many obstacles and attempts at discouraging and dissuading him from doing the work by the local opponents of the Jews, he is able to complete the work of rebuilding the wall in record time of 52 days (Nehemiah 6:15), and he is also appointed as Governor by the King (Nehemiah 5:14). Even as Governor he shows his worshipping heart of glorifying God and giving to God (Nehemiah 5:14, 18; 7:70; 8:9-10). This simple, but God fearing, pious, and worshipping Jew, desirous of working for the Lord despite all the odd’s being against him, with God’s grace, wisdom, guidance and strength, could do it. From being a mere cup-bearer, he got authority over established officials, and eventually became the Governor; and even as Governor he continued to glorify God; and we have him as an example in the eternal, unchanging Word of God for all eternity.

आराधना के भौतिक लाभ (3)

पिछले कुछ लेखों से हम अध्ययन करते आ रहे हैं कि किस प्रकार से परमेश्वर की आराधना करने, अर्थात, उसे देने के द्वारा, आराधकों को लाभ मिलता है, न केवल आत्मिक, वरन भौतिक और शारीरिक भी। पिछले दो लेखों में हमने परमेश्वर के प्रतिबद्ध आराधकों - जो उसके समक्ष “प्रोसकूनियोस” करते हैं, उनको मिलने वाले भौतिक और शारीरिक लाभ मिलने के बारे में देखा था। हमने यह भी देखा था कि आराधना के फलस्वरूप भौतिक और शारीरिक लाभ मिलने का यह अर्थ नहीं है कि कोई व्यक्ति अपनी आराधना के द्वारा परमेश्वर को बाध्य कर सकता है कि उसे कुछ विशेष वस्तुएं दी जाएँ। आज से हम बाइबल में से, आराधना के द्वारा मिलने वाले भौतिक और शारीरिक लाभों के कुछ उदाहरणों को देखना आरंभ करेंगे।

बाइबल में 2 इतिहास के 29 से 32 अध्याय, राजा हिजकिय्याह के बारे में हैं, जो कि परमेश्वर के भय में चलने तथा उसकी उपासना करने वाले इस्राएल के राजाओं में से एक था; किन्तु उसका पिता, राजा आहाज एक मूर्तिपूजक राजा था, जिसने कभी प्रभु परमेश्वर को कोई आदर नहीं दिया। हिजकिय्याह 25 वर्ष की आयु में राजा बना, और उसके लिए आरंभ से ही लिखा गया है कि उसने वही किया जो परमेश्वर की दृष्टि में सही था (2 इतिहास 29:1-2)। राजा हिजकिय्याह ने मंदिर में परमेश्वर की उपासना को फिर से स्थापित करवाया, लेवियों को फिर से उनके काम करने के लिए लगाया, परमेश्वर के पर्वों और विधियों को फिर से आरंभ करवाया, प्रजा के लोगों को परमेश्वर की आराधना में सम्मिलित करवाया, और मूर्तिपूजा के स्थानों को गिरा दिया। राजा हिजकिय्याह के राज्य में लोगों में एक बड़ी जागृति आई। उसने अपने उदाहरण के द्वारा लोगों का नेतृत्व किया, और मंदिर की दैनिक भेटों और बालियों के लिए अपने निज संपत्ति में से ठहरा दिया (2 इतिहास 31:3); फिर उसने प्रजा के लोगों से कहा कि वे याजकों और लेवियों की देखभाल करें, उनकी आवश्यकताओं का ध्यान रखें, तथा अपने आप को परमेश्वर को समर्पित करें (2 इतिहास 31:4)।

जब प्रजा के लोगों ने देखा कि उनका राजा व्यक्तिगत उदाहरण के साथ नेतृत्व कर रहा है, तो परमेश्वर के लोग परमेश्वर के वचन के प्रति समर्पित हो गए, उन्होंने अपने आप को सुधारा, और फिर से अपने दशमांश और भेंटें मंदिर में लाने लग गए, जिससे याजकों तथा परमेश्वर के घर की आवश्यकताएं पूरी हो सकें। जब लोगों ने सच्चे मन से दशमांश और भेंटों को अर्पित करना आरंभ कर दिया, तो परमेश्वर ने उन्हें और भी अधिक, बहुतायत से आशीषित किया; इसलिए, वे फिर अपनी इस समृद्धि में से और भी अधिक लाने और देने वाले हो गए। और यह इतना अधिक हो गया कि याजकों तथा परमेश्वर के घर की आवश्यकताओं की पूर्ति हो जाने के बाद भी सब कुछ बहुत अधिक मात्रा में बचा रहा, उसे रखने के लिए स्थान कम पड़ गया, उसे मंदिर में ही ढेर लगा कर छोड़ देना पड़ा। यह देखकर राजा हिजकिय्याह को दशमांश तथा भेंटों को रखने के लिए और स्थान बनाने का आदेश देना पड़ा (2 इतिहास 31:5-12)।

परमेश्वर ने उसे और प्रजा को बहुत आशीष दी, भौतिक तथा शारीरिक रीति से समृद्ध और संपन्न किया, उनकी कल्पना और अपेक्षा से कहीं अधिक बढ़कर। परमेश्वर के वचन में लिखा गया है, “और सारे यहूदा में भी हिजकिय्याह ने ऐसा ही प्रबन्‍ध किया, और जो कुछ उसके परमेश्वर यहोवा की दृष्टि में भला ओर ठीक और सच्चाई का था, उसे वह करता था। और जो जो काम उसने परमेश्वर के भवन की उपासना और व्यवस्था और आज्ञा के विषय अपने परमेश्वर की खोज में किया, वह उसने अपना सारा मन लगाकर किया और उस में कृतार्थ भी हुआ” (2 इतिहास 31:20-21)। लेकिन बाद में, जब इस्राएल फिर से परमेश्वर के मार्गों में चलने से भटक गया, तो गंभीर समस्याओं में भी आ गया, और परमेश्वर ने उन्हें स्मरण दिलाया, “सारे दशमांश भण्डार में ले आओ कि मेरे भवन में भोजन वस्तु रहे; और सेनाओं का यहोवा यह कहता है, कि ऐसा कर के मुझे परखो कि मैं आकाश के झरोखे तुम्हारे लिये खोल कर तुम्हारे ऊपर अपरम्पार आशीष की वर्षा करता हूं कि नहीं” (मलाकी 3:10)।

अगले लेख में हम एक और व्यक्ति के जीवन के उदाहरण से देखेंगे कि परमेश्वर के प्रति विश्वासयोग्यता और सच्चा समर्पण, और आराधना के साथ प्रार्थना करने के द्वारा भौतिक एवं शारीरिक वस्तुओं के अतिरिक्त कई प्रकार की आशीषें आती हैं, जैसे कि लोग और अधिकारी पक्ष में हो जाते हैं, तरक्की मिलती है, बौद्धिक और प्रशासनिक योग्यताएँ तथा अधिकार मिलते हैं, शैतानी युक्तियों और हमलों पर विजय मिलती है, अद्भुत कार्य करने की क्षमता मिलती है, आदि।

The Material Blessings of Worship (3)

For the past few articles, we have been studying about how worshipping God, i.e., giving to God, benefits the worshippers, not only spiritually but physically and materially as well. In the last two articles we have seen about the physical and material blessings for God’s committed worshippers, i.e., those who worship Him in spirit and in truth - those who “proskuneos” before Him. We have also seen that material and physical blessings coming from God because of worshipping Him does not mean that God can be manipulated into giving material things because of a person’s worship. We will now start looking at some Biblical examples of material and physical blessings through worship.

In 2 Chronicles, chapters 29 to 32 are about King Hezekiah, who was one of the godly kings of Israel, but his father, King Ahaz had been an idolatrous king who never respected the Lord God. Hezekiah became king of Israel at the age of 25, and from the very beginning it is written about him that he did what was right in the sight of God (2 Chronicles 29:1-2). King Hezekiah restored God’s worship in the Temple, had the Levites re-start doing their duties, restored the observance of the Feasts of the Lord, got the people of his kingdom involved in worshipping God, and destroyed places of idolatry. Under King Hezekiah came about a great reformation. He led by example, and gave for the daily Temple offerings and feasts from his personal possessions (2 Chronicles 31:3); he then asked the people of his kingdom to start supporting the priests and Levites and devote themselves to God (2 Chronicles 31:4).

When the people saw their king lead by example, God’s people submitted to God’s Word, corrected themselves, and once again started to bring in their tithes and offerings to the house of the Lord to meet the needs of the priests and of the house of God. As they faithfully brought in their tithes and offerings, God blessed them abundantly; so, they could bring in even more from their increase to the house of the Lord, and it was so much that even after the needs of the priests and of the house of God had been fully met, a great abundance was left over and laid in heaps in the house of the Lord, since there was no more room left to store it all. To accommodate this abundance of outpouring, king Hezekiah had to ask for more rooms to be built to store the tithes and offerings (2 Chronicles 31:5-12).

 

God blessed and prospered him and his people physically and materially in many ways, way beyond their imagination and expectation. It is written for him in God’s Word, “Thus Hezekiah did throughout all Judah, and he did what was good and right and true before the Lord his God. And in every work that he began in the service of the house of God, in the law and in the commandment, to seek his God, he did it with all his heart. So he prospered” (2 Chronicles 31:20-21). But later, as Israel once again deviated away from following the Lord and fell into serious problems, God reminded them: “Bring all the tithes into the storehouse, That there may be food in My house, And try Me now in this," Says the Lord of hosts, "If I will not open for you the windows of heaven And pour out for you such blessing That there will not be room enough to receive it” (Malachi 3:10).

In the next article we will see another example of how faithfulness towards God and combining prayer with worship leads to various kinds of blessings like getting favor, promotion, intellectual and administrative abilities, authority, victory over satanic influences and attacks, capabilities of doing extra-ordinary things, etc., besides the material blessings - all in the life of one person.

If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord Jesus, then to ensure your eternal life and heavenly rewards, take a decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now. Wherever there is surrender and obedience towards the Lord Jesus, the Lord’s blessings and safety are also there. If you are still not Born Again, have not obtained salvation, or have not asked the Lord Jesus for forgiveness for your sins, then you have the opportunity to do so right now. A short prayer said voluntarily with a sincere heart, with heartfelt repentance for your sins, and a fully submissive attitude, “Lord Jesus, I confess that I have disobeyed You, and have knowingly or unknowingly, in mind, in thought, in attitude, and in deeds, committed sins. I believe that you have fully borne the punishment of my sins by your sacrifice on the cross, and have paid the full price of those sins for all eternity. Please forgive my sins, change my heart and mind towards you, and make me your disciple, take me with you." God longs for your company and wants to see you blessed, but to make this possible, is your personal decision. Will you not say this prayer now, while you have the time and opportunity to do so - the decision is yours.
