कलीसिया का निर्माण – 11 – प्रभु यीशु मसीह पर – 4

 

    प्रत्येक भला भण्डारी, उसे सौंपी गई ज़िम्मेदारी के बारे में, उसके उद्देश्य एवं उपयोग के बारे में पता करता है, सीखता है, और फिर उस बात को, उसे सौंपी गई ज़िम्मेदारी को भली-भाँति निर्वाह करने के लिए, उचित रीति से उपयोग में लाता है। क्योंकि परमेश्वर ने प्रत्येक नया-जन्म पाए हुए मसीही विश्वासी को अपनी कलीसिया का अंग बनाया है और उसे अपनी अन्य सन्तानों के साथ सहभागिता में रखा है, इसलिए, परमेश्वर द्वारा हम मसीही विश्वासियों को दी गई बात के भण्डारी होने के नाते, हम परमेश्वर के वचन बाइबल में से कलीसिया तथा उसकी सन्तानों के साथ सहभागिता रखने के बारे में सीख रहे हैं।

    मसीही विश्वासियों की मण्डली, या प्रभु की कलीसिया के विषय इस अध्ययन में हम मत्ती 16:18 से, जहाँ “कलीसिया” शब्द बाइबल में सबसे पहले प्रयोग हुआ है, कलीसिया के विषय वचन में दी गई बातों को देखते आ रहे हैं। हमने देखा है कि प्रभु यीशु की कलीसिया या मण्डली “इस पत्थर”, अर्थात मत्ती 16:16 में पतरस को परमेश्वर से मिले दर्शन “तू जीवते परमेश्वर का पुत्र मसीह है” पर आधारित है। हमने यह भी देखा कि पतरस को मिले इस ईश्वरीय दर्शन में संज्ञा “यीशु” की बजाए “मसीह”, अर्थात “परमेश्वर द्वारा नियुक्त और अभिषिक्त जगत का एकमात्र उद्धारकर्ता” शब्द के प्रयोग का क्या तात्पर्य एवं महत्व है; और फिर हमने समझा था कि प्रभु यीशु मसीह के जगत का “एकमात्र उद्धारकर्ता” होने का क्या तात्पर्य है। संभव है कि कुछ लोगों को यह विश्लेषण नाहक ही ‘बाल की खाल निकालने’, शब्दों से खेलने, के समान लगता हो। किन्तु अनन्तकाल के दृष्टिकोण और मसीही विश्वासी होने के उद्देश्य की ठीक समझ रखने के लिए वास्तविक मसीही विश्वासी होने को जानना और समझना अत्यावश्यक ही नहीं, बल्कि अनिवार्य है। 

    मत्ती 16:18 में लिखे प्रभु के कहे वाक्य पर ध्यान कीजिए - “...मैं इस पत्थर पर अपनी कलीसिया बनाऊंगा...”; प्रभु के इस वाक्य में तीन बातें बहुत महत्वपूर्ण हैं:

• पहली, प्रभु स्वयं ही अपनी कलीसिया बनाएगा, अर्थात उसके बुलाए हुए लोगों को एकत्रित करेगा, उन्हें जो उसे जगत का एकमात्र उद्धारकर्ता मानने वालों के समूह को एकत्रित करेगा। वह यह कार्य किसी और से नहीं करवाएगा, यह ज़िम्मेदारी किसी और को नहीं सौंपेगा, वरन इस स्वयं ही पूरा करेगा। यही इस बात को दिखाता है कि यह कार्य कितना महत्वपूर्ण है, और इसे ठीक से करना कितना आवश्यक है; इसमें किसी भी प्रकार की कोई भी त्रुटि होने, कमी रहने का कोई स्थान, कोई गुंजाइश ही नहीं है। इसलिए वह सिद्ध, सर्वज्ञानी, सर्वशक्तिमान, सार्वभौमिक प्रभु परमेश्वर इसे स्वयं ही पूरा करेगा।  

• दूसरी, वह कलीसिया प्रभु यीशु की अपनी होगी; उसे किसी व्यक्ति या स्थान या डिनॉमिनेशन, या किसी अन्य भौतिक, नश्वर, नाशमान बात के नाम या गुण के आधार पर नहीं जानी जाएगी; वह केवल “प्रभु यीशु की कलीसिया” प्रभु यीशु द्वारा उसके लोग होने के लिए बुलाए और एकत्रित किए गए लोगों, और केवल उस ही के नाम से पहचाने जाने वाले लोगों का समूह होगा। 

• तीसरी, प्रभु ने कहा कि वह ही अपनी इस कलीसिया को ‘बनाएगा’ – उसने यहाँ पर भविष्य काल का उपयोग किया है; जब प्रभु ने यह बात कही कलीसिया उस समय वर्तमान नहीं थी, बनाई जानी थी। प्रभु द्वारा कही गई यह बात प्रेरितों 2 अध्याय में यरूशलेम में पतरस के प्रचार और उस प्रचार के प्रति वहाँ एकत्रित भक्त यहूदियों के द्वारा दी गई प्रतिक्रिया के साथ आरंभ हुई थी। किसी वस्तु को ‘बनाने’ में समय और प्रयास लगता है, उसे उसके पूर्ण होने और उसे अंतिम स्वरूप में लाने या ढालने के लिए एक प्रक्रिया से होकर निकलना पड़ता है। प्रभु की कलीसिया भी प्रभु के द्वारा ‘बनाई’ जा रही है, निर्माणाधीन है, उसमें अभी भी संसार भर से बुलाए हुए लोग जोड़े जा रहे हैं। अभी वह पूर्ण नहीं हुई है। प्रभु उसे बना भी रहा है और जितनी बन गई है, उसे प्रभु निष्कलंक, बेझुर्री भी बनाता जा रहा है, जिससे अन्ततः अपने पूर्ण स्वरूप में वह तेजस्वी, पवित्र और निर्दोष होकर उसके साथ खड़ी हो (इफिसियों 5:27)। अभी प्रभु उसे बनाने में कार्यरत है, कलीसिया ‘निर्माणाधीन’ है, इसीलिए आज हमें प्रभु यीशु मसीह की कलीसिया में कुछ कमियाँ, दोष, अपूर्णता, और सुधार के योग्य बातें दिखती हैं, जिन्हें सुधारे जाने की आवश्यकता है, और कुछ बातें सही की भी जा रही हैं।

    अगले लेख से हम इन तीनों बातों को, परमेश्वर के वचन बाइबल के आधार पर, बारी-बारी से कुछ और विस्तार से देखेंगे। 

    यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु, मैं अपने पापों के लिए पश्चातापी हूँ, उनके लिए आप से क्षमा माँगता हूँ। मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मुझे और मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

Building the Church – 11 – On The Lord Jesus Christ – 4

 

A good steward finds out and learns about what has been entrusted to him, about its purpose and utility, and then puts that thing to use to worthily fulfil the responsibility given to him. Since God has made every Born-Again Christian Believer a member of His Church and put him in fellowship with His other children, therefore, as stewards of what God has given to us Christian Believers, we are learning about the Church and fellowshipping with God’s children from God’s Word the Bible.

    We have been looking at and considering various aspects from Matthew 16:18, where the word “Church” has been used for the very first time, for the Assembly or Church of the Lord Jesus Christ made up of the Christian Believers. We have seen that the Assembly or Church of the Lord Jesus Christ is built on “this rock” which is the revelation God gave to Peter about Lord Jesus, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God” (Matthew 16:16). We also saw the significance and meaning of Peter, instead of using the proper noun “Jesus,” using the phrase “the Christ” here, i.e., the “one and only God anointed and appointed savior of the world;” and then we saw what it means to say that the Lord Jesus Christ is the “one and only savior” of the world. It is possible that some people may consider this analysis an attempt of going after the inconsequential nitty-gritty of the matter, merely playing with words. But from the perspective of eternity and of having a proper understanding of what it actually means to be a Christian Believer, it is not just important to know and understand these finer points; rather, they are essential.

    Take note of the sentence “...on this rock I will build My church…” said by the Lord Jesus in Matthew 16:18; there are three very important things in the Lord’s sentence:

• First, the Lord Jesus Himself will build, i.e., gather together His called-out ones, the ones who accept Him as the “one and only God anointed and appointed savior of the world.” He is not giving this job, this responsibility to anyone else, but will complete it Himself. This by itself shows how important this work is, and how necessary it is to have it done properly; that there is no scope of any error or short-coming in its execution. That is why that perfect, omniscient, omnipotent, sovereign Lord God will do it Himself.

• Second, that Church will be the Lord’s Church; it will not be known according to any person or place or denomination, or by any other physical, temporal, perishable name or characteristic. It will only be “The Church of the Lord Jesus Christ” made up of people called-out and gathered together by the Lord to be His people, those who will be known by His name.

• Thirdly, the Lord said that He will ‘build’ His Church - He has used the future tense here; when the Lord said this, the Church was not present, but was to be built. The fulfilment of what the Lord had said here began in Acts 2 with the preaching of Peter and the response to his preaching by the audience, i.e., the devout Jews gathered in Jerusalem at that time. To build a thing takes time and effort; to complete it and give it the final form and shape requires a process to be entered into and completed. The Church of the Lord is also presently ‘under-construction,’ even today people called-out from the world are being added to it. It is not yet complete. The Lord not only is building it, but what has been built, the Lord is working on it to make it without spot or wrinkle, so that ultimately in its fully completed form, it would be a glorious, without any blemish, and holy Church that will stand by His side as His bride (Ephesians 5:27). Since the Lord is still engaged in building His Church, the Church is presently ‘under-construction,’ therefore today in the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ, we see many imperfections, incomplete things, places that need rectification, etc. and many things are in the process of being set-right.

    From the next article, we will look at these three things one by one from God’s Word, in some detail.

    If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord, make your decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now to ensure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Repenting of your sins, and asking the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily and sincerely, surrendering yourself to Him - is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life.  Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.

    परमेश्वर की कलीसिया और उसके बच्चों के साथ सहभागिता रखने, जहाँ पर परमेश्वर ने प्रत्येक नया-जन्म पाए हुए मसीही विश्वासी को रखा है, की बाइबल पर आधारित सही समझ के बिना, कोई भी मसीही विश्वासी परमेश्वर द्वारा सौंपे गए भण्डारी होने के इस कार्य का उचित रीति से निर्वाह कभी नहीं कर सकता है। हम कलीसिया के बारे में मत्ती 16:18 से सीख रहे हैं, जहाँ पर बाइबल में पहली बार “कलीसिया” के बारे में बात की गई है। हाल ही के लेखों में हमने देखा है कि एक प्रचलित किन्तु गलत धारणा के विपरीत, कलीसिया पतरस पर नहीं बनी है, बल्कि प्रभु यीशु ही अपनी कलीसिया, अर्थात उसके बुलाए हुए लोगों का विश्वव्यापी एवं एक ही समूह, अपने ही ऊपर बना रहा है। पिछले लेख में हमने पतरस द्वारा परमेश्वर के प्रकटीकरण से कही गई और प्रभु यीशु द्वारा अनुमोदन की गई बात के अर्थ, उसके निहितार्थ, और व्यावहारिक अभिप्राय को समझा था। आज हम आगे बढ़ते हुए, देखेंगे कि बाइबल के अनुसार “मसीही” होने का क्या अर्थ होता है।  

    “मसीही” कहलाना या समझे जाना, और वास्तविकता में वह सच्चा “मसीही” अर्थात प्रभु यीशु का शिष्य (प्रेरितों 11:26) होना, जिसकी बात प्रभु यीशु ने मत्ती 16:18 में की है, व्यवहारिक रीति से दो बिलकुल भिन्न बातें हैं। यद्यपि सामान्यतः यही समझा और माना जाता है कि किसी परिवार या धर्म विशेष में जन्म लेने के आधार पर, या किसी डिनॉमिनेशन, अथवा संस्था, या “चर्च” का सदस्य होने और उसकी प्रथाओं के निर्वाह, और कुछ अनुष्ठानों की पूर्ति, आदि के द्वारा व्यक्ति जन्म से ही ईसाई या मसीही होता है या फिर बन जाता है। किन्तु इस आम धारणा के विपरीत, परमेश्वर के वचन बाइबल की वास्तविकता यही है कि ऐसा करने से वह व्यक्ति समाज, कुछ लोगों, अथवा उस “चर्च” या डिनॉमिनेशन या संस्था के द्वारा तो “मसीही” माना और कहा जा सकता है; किन्तु अनिवार्य नहीं है कि वह वास्तव में प्रभु की दृष्टि में भी “मसीही” हो, प्रभु की कलीसिया या बुलाए हुए लोगों में सम्मिलित हो। क्योंकि जो कोई भी अपने परिवार, अपनी धार्मिकता, अपने कर्मों, अपनी “चर्च” या डिनॉमिनेशन या संस्था की सदस्यता, अपने द्वारा प्रथाओं के निर्वाह और अनुष्ठानों की पूर्ति आदि पर आधारित होकर प्रभु की कलीसिया का सदस्य होना चाहता अथवा समझता है कि ये बातें उसके प्रभु का जन माने जाने के लिए पर्याप्त हैं, वह इस प्राथमिक आधारभूत बात की वास्तविकता की उपेक्षा कर देता है, जिसके बारे में हमने पिछले लेख में पतरस के कथन से देखा और सीखा है। क्योंकि फिर वह अपना विश्वास, अपना भरोसा, प्रभु यीशु के “मसीहा” होने पर नहीं, उस के एकमात्र उद्धारकर्ता और परमेश्वर तक पहुँचने का मार्ग (यूहन्ना 14:6) होने पर नहीं, बल्कि सँसार की गढ़ी हुई बातों, जिन्हें मनुष्यों ने बनाया और प्रभु यीशु के नाम में लागू किया है, को मानने और उन का पालन करने पर कर रहा है कि वे उसे बचा लेंगी और परमेश्वर तक पहुँचा देंगी; अर्थात, वह प्रभु यीशु के अतिरिक्त किसी अन्य मार्ग पर भरोसा कर रहा है, परमेश्वर तक पहुँचने के लिए कर्मों के मार्ग पर विश्वास कर रहा है (इफिसियों 2:5, 8-9)। जब कि बाइबल के अनुसार, प्रभु यीशु को परमेश्वर का “मसीह” स्वीकार करना पापों से पश्चाताप तथा अपना जीवन उसे समर्पित कर देने के द्वारा होता है (रोमियों 10:9-10); न कि परिवार, वंशावली, कर्मों, धर्म, डिनॉमिनेशन की शिक्षाओं और परम्पराओं के पालन आदि के द्वारा।

    ध्यान कीजिए, जब यूहन्ना बपतिस्मा देने वाले ने प्रभु के आगमन के लिए लोगों को तैयार करना आरंभ किया तो उसके प्रचार का प्रथम और मुख्य विषय पश्चाताप करना था (मत्ती 3:1-2); यही प्रभु यीशु की सेवकाई का भी प्रथम और मुख्य विषय था (मरकुस 3:1-2); तथा प्रभु द्वारा शिष्यों को दिए गए अंतिम निर्देश का भी विषय था (लूका 24:47); यही शिष्यों के द्वारा किए गए पहले प्रचार का मुख्य विषय था (मरकुस 6:12); और पश्चाताप करना ही पतरस के द्वारा किए गए पहले प्रचार का प्रथम और मुख्य विषय था (प्रेरितों 2:38), जिससे प्रथम कलीसिया की स्थापना हुई थी; यही पौलुस के द्वारा किए गए प्रचार का मुख्य विषय था (प्रेरितों 20:21); और पुराने नियम के भविष्यद्वक्ताओं की सेवकाई का विषय भी यही था (यिर्मयाह 25:4-5)। इसलिए जब प्रभु ने उसे जगत का एकमात्र उद्धारकर्ता स्वीकार करने के आधार पर लोगों को बुलाने और अपने साथ एकत्रित करने, कलीसिया को बनाने की बात की, तो कोई अनूठा या नया विषय सामने नहीं रखा। प्रभु ने वही दृढ़ता से दोहराया और उसी की पुष्टि की जो पुराने नियम में भविष्यद्वक्ताओं की सेवकाई का विषय था, यूहन्ना बपतिस्मा देने वाले की सेवकाई का विषय था, प्रभु की अपनी सेवकाई का, और शिष्यों द्वारा की गई पहली सेवकाई का विषय था; और जो भविष्य में अन्य शिष्यों द्वारा की जाने वाली सेवकाई का भी विषय होना था।

    बिना अपने पापों से पश्चाताप किए और प्रभु यीशु को अपना जीवन पूर्णतः समर्पण करके जीवन में परिवर्तन किए (रोमियों 12:1-2) उद्धार पाने या परमेश्वर को स्वीकार्य प्रभु का जन हो जाने की कोई शिक्षा बाइबल में कहीं नहीं दी गई है। प्रभु का जन बनना प्रत्येक व्यक्ति के द्वारा व्यक्तिगत रीति से और स्वेच्छा से अपने पापों के लिए किए गए पश्चाताप, उन पापों की क्षमा और निवारण के लिए प्रभु यीशु द्वारा क्रूस पर किए गए कार्य को स्वीकार करने, और अपना जीवन पूर्णतः प्रभु को समर्पित करने के द्वारा होता है, चाहे उस व्यक्ति का जन्म किसी भी परिवार में हुआ हो, और चाहे उसने कितनी भी “ईसाई या मसीही” रीतियों और अनुष्ठानों को निभाया हो (प्रेरितों 17:30-31)। प्रभु को “मसीह” या परमेश्वर द्वारा नियुक्त जगत का एकमात्र उद्धारकर्ता होना स्वीकार करने, “नया-जन्म” प्राप्त करने का यही अभिप्राय है। प्रभु की कलीसिया या मण्डली उन ही लोगों से मिलकर बनी है जो इस मूल सिद्धांत को स्वीकार करके इसका पालन करते हैं; इसमें कुछ और जोड़ते-घटाते नहीं हैं, इसे मनुष्यों की समझ-बुद्धि-ज्ञान की बातों के द्वारा भ्रष्ट नहीं करते हैं, और बाइबल के बाहर की किसी अन्य बात को इसके साथ या इसके अतिरिक्त मानने या मनवाने का प्रयास नहीं करते हैं। 

    हम अगले लेख में देखेंगे कि क्यों ये बातें केवल शब्दों का खेल या मात्र एक भिन्न समझ रखना कह कर टाल देने की बात नहीं है; क्यों ये इतनी महत्वपूर्ण हैं; क्यों ये अनन्त जीवन का वारिस होने के लिए समझे और माने जाने के लिए अनिवार्य हैं।

Building the Church – 10 – On The Lord Jesus Christ – 3

 

Without a proper Biblical understanding about God’s Church and of fellowshipping with God’s children, where God has placed every Born-Again Christian Believer, no Christian Believer can fulfil this God given stewardship worthily. We are studying about the Church from Matthew 16:18, the first place in the Bible where the “Church” has been talked about. In the recent articles we have seen from this verse that contrary to a popular misconception, the Church is not built upon Peter, but it is the Lord Jesus who is building His Church, i.e., the universal and single group of people called out and gathered together by Him upon Himself. In the previous article we had understood the meaning, implication, and application of what Peter had said through revelation from God and had been approved by the Lord Jesus Christ. Today, moving forward, we will see what it Biblically means to be a “Christian.”

    To be called and known by the world as a “Christian,” and to actually be the true committed “Christian” i.e., a disciple of Christ (Acts 11:26), that the Lord is talking about in Matthew 16:18, practically, are two entirely different things altogether. Although it is commonly believed and accepted that because of being born in a particular family or religion, or because of fulfilling the rites, rituals, traditions, and ceremonies of a particular sect or denomination, or taking membership of a particular “church” according to its rules and regulations, one is either born as a “Christian,” or becomes one. But contrary to this common concept and belief, the Biblical teaching is that through all of these, though a person may be seen and accepted as a “Christian” by some people, the society, or a particular sect or denomination, but it is not necessary that he or she would also be considered a “Christian” by the Lord Jesus, will be seen by the Lord as one of those called-out ones who have been gathered together to be His people. This is because, whoever considers and believes himself to be a “Christian” because of being born in a particular family, or because of his religion, being religious, doing good works, fulfilling the requirements of the sect or denomination he belongs to and following its rites, rituals, ceremonies, etc., or thinks that his fulfilling these things is sufficient for him to be considered as people of God, automatically ignores and disobeys the primary and basic requirement of being a member of the Lord’s Church that we have seen and learnt about in the last article through Peter’s statement. Because, he is then trusting not on Lord Jesus being his only “Messiah”, his one and only savior and way to God (John 14:6), but on his trusting and believing on the contrived things of the world, devised and implemented by men in the name of the Lord Jesus, that they will save him and take him to God; i.e., he is trusting on a way other than the Lord Jesus Christ, a way of works to reach God (Ephesians 2:5, 8-9). Whereas, according to the Bible, accepting the Lord Jesus as the “Christ” from God is through repentance from sins and completely surrendering one’s life to Him (Romans 10:9-10); not by family, lineage, works, religion, fulfilling of denominational teachings and rituals.

    Take note, when John the Baptist started to prepare the people for the coming of the Lord Jesus, then the first and main subject of his preaching was repentance from sins (Matthew 3:1-2). This was also the subject of the first preaching and ministry of the Lord Jesus (Mark 1:15), as well as part of the last instructions of the Lord to His disciples before His ascension (Luke 24:47). This was also the subject of the preaching by the disciples when they first went out for ministry (Mark 6:12); and was also the subject of Peter’s first sermon to the devout Jews gathered in Jerusalem to fulfil the Law (Acts 2:38), through which the first Church was born. It was also the subject of the ministry of Paul after his conversion (Acts 20:21); and even of the prophets of the Old Testament (Jeremiah 25:4-5). Therefore, when the Lord Jesus put forth the essential requirement of accepting Him as the one and only Savior of the world, to become His called-out people and gathered together in His name, He was not putting forth some new or strange, previously unknown teaching. The Lord was only firmly reiterating and affirming that which was the theme of the ministry of the Old Testament prophets and men of God, of John the Baptist as His forerunner, of the beginning of the Lord’s own ministry, and of the disciples first ministry; and would be the theme of His other disciples in the days to come.

    There is no teaching given anywhere in the Bible of being saved and becoming a person of the Lord Jesus without repentance from sins and surrendering one’s life to the Lord, having a changed life (Romans 12:1-2). Every person becomes a person belonging to the Lord Jesus only by personally and willingly repenting of his sins, accepting the work of the Lord Jesus accomplished on the Cross of Calvary for the remission of his sins and based upon that asking the Lord’s forgiveness for his sins, and fully surrendering one’s life to the Lord; irrespective of what family he is born in and whatever “Christian” rituals and ceremonies he may have fulfilled, repentance is mandatory for everyone (Acts 17:30-31). This is what accepting the Lord Jesus as the “Christ,” the one and only God appointed savior of the world, being “Born-Again” implies. The Church of the Lord Jesus Christ is made up only of those who accept this basic doctrine and obey it as it is; without adding anything to it, or taking anything away from it; without corrupting it in any manner by bringing into it things according to man’s understanding, knowledge, and wisdom; and without joining any extraneous teachings or doctrines to it.

    In the next article we will see how this is not just playing around with words, nor something to be casually passed over as a mere difference of understanding and opinion about some Biblical texts and teachings. Why they are so important, and why they are absolutely essential to accept and obey to become an inheritor of eternal life.

Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Repenting of your sins, and asking the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily and sincerely, surrendering yourself to Him - is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life.  Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.

    किसी सौंपी गई बात के सही उपयोग और उसके प्रति अपनी ज़िम्मेदारी के उचित निर्वाह के लिए, व्यक्ति को उस बात के बारे में तथा उसके उद्देश्य एवं उपयोगिता के बारे में जानना अनिवार्य है। परमेश्वर ने प्रत्येक नया-जन्म पाए हुए मसीही विश्वासी को अपनी कलीसिया का एक अंग बनाया है और उसे अपनी अन्य सन्तानों की सहभागिता में रखा है। मसीही विश्वासी के परमेश्वर की कलीसिया, तथा उसकी सन्तानों के साथ सहभागिता रखने का भण्डारी होने के बारे में समझने के लिए, हम इन बातों को मत्ती 16:18 से सीख रहे हैं, जहाँ पर “कलीसिया” शब्द बाइबल में पहली बार उपयोग किया गया है। हमने देखा है कि प्रचलित किन्तु सर्वथा गलत धारणा के विपरीत, न तो प्रभु ने यह कहा और न ही उस की कही बात का यह अर्थ था कि वह अपनी कलीसिया पतरस पर बनाएगा। जैसा कि इस पद में प्रभु ने कहा है, परमेश्वर की कलीसिया प्रभु यीशु के द्वारा और उसी पर ही बनाई गई है। हम वर्तमान में यही परमेश्वर के वचन से सीख रहे हैं, और इसी बात को जहाँ हमने पिछले लेख में छोड़ा था, वहाँ से आगे बढ़ाएंगे।

    अपने आप को उस समय की स्थिति में लाकर पतरस द्वारा मत्ती 16:16 में कही गई इस बात और फिर इसके प्रत्युत्तर में प्रभु द्वारा मत्ती 16:17-18 में कहे गए के झकझोर देने वाले प्रभाव पर विचार कीजिए। व्यवस्थाविवरण 18:15, 18 में मूसा ने इस्राएलियों से अपने समान एक परमेश्वर के नबी के आने की बात कही थी, और फिर परमेश्वर की ओर से भविष्यद्वक्ता उसके आने की भविष्यवाणियाँ करते चले आ रहे थे। प्रभु यीशु की पृथ्वी की सेवकाई के दिनों में लोगों में एक उत्साह और आशा थी, कि परमेश्वर द्वारा प्रतिज्ञा किया हुआ मसीहा आने वाला है, हालात संकेत कर रहे थे कि वह अब कभी भी आ जाएगा, जैसा सामरी स्त्री ने कहा (यूहन्ना 4:25, 29), तथा यहूदियों में भी एक प्रत्याशा थी (यूहन्ना 6:14; 7:41)। पतरस से उसके भाई अंद्रियास ने आरंभ में ही यीशु के मसीहा होने की बात कह दी थी (यूहन्ना 1:41); और सामरी स्त्री की बात सुनकर तथा प्रभु यीशु को स्वयं अनुभव कर के सामरिया के उस गाँव के लोग भी मान गए थे कि यीशु ही मसीह है (यूहन्ना 4:39, 42)। किन्तु अभी तक प्रभु यीशु ने कभी उन सभी लोगों के द्वारा उसका वह प्रतिज्ञा किए हुए मसीहा होने की बात को जानने और मानने के प्रति  संवेदनशील होने को ऐसा महत्व नहीं दिया था, जितना अब ईश्वरीय प्रकाशन से पतरस के द्वारा यह कहने पर दिया।

    पतरस तथा प्रभु के शिष्यों के लिए प्रभु द्वारा पतरस की बात को पिता परमेश्वर द्वारा दिया गया स्वर्गीय दर्शन बताना, और इसे आधार बनाकर अपने शिष्यों को एकत्रित करने की बात करना प्रभु यीशु द्वारा कही गई एक अभूतपूर्व बात थी। अब से और यहाँ से, यह बात मानवीय समझ और धारणाओं से निकलकर एक स्थापित तथ्य, जो ईश्वरीय पुष्टि तथा प्रभु यीशु के अनुमोदन के साथ उन शिष्यों के भविष्य और कार्य को निर्धारित करने वाली बात हो गई थी। प्रभु यीशु के द्वारा उन शिष्यों को अपना अनुयायी होने के लिए बुलाए जाने के बारे में विचार कीजिए; प्रभु ने अभी तक के अपने किसी भी शिष्य को इस बात के अनुरूप उस पर विश्वास करने के आधार पर नहीं बुलाया था। उसने पतरस को और कुछ अन्य शिष्यों को “मनुष्यों को पकड़ने वाला” (मत्ती 4:19; लूका 5:10) बनाने के आश्वासन के साथ तो बुलाया था, किन्तु किसी के लिए यह नहीं कहा था कि जब तक वह उसे परमेश्वर का पुत्र और जगत का परमेश्वर द्वारा अभिषिक्त एवं निर्धारित एकमात्र उद्धारकर्ता स्वीकार नहीं कर लेते हैं, वे उसके जन नहीं हो सकते हैं। यदि यह कहा होता तो संभवतः यहूदा इस्करियोती या तो चुना ही नहीं जाता, अथवा आरंभ में ही बाहर हो गया होता!

    किन्तु अब प्रभु उनसे, और सभी आने वालों ‘उसके’ लोगों के लिए कह रहा था कि केवल वही उसका बुलाया हुआ और उसके साथ रहने के लिए एकत्रित किया हुआ होगा जो उसे परमेश्वर का पुत्र और परमेश्वर द्वारा नियुक्त जगत का एकमात्र उद्धारकर्ता स्वीकार करेगा। दूसरे शब्दों में, पतरस में होकर परमेश्वर द्वारा दिए गए और प्रभु द्वारा अनुमोदन किए गए इस कथन के कारण, यहाँ से आगे उनका प्रभु के साथ सम्बन्ध और प्रभु द्वारा उन्हें अपने लोग स्वीकार करना केवल तब ही वैध और प्रभावी होगा यदि वे उसे स्वीकार करें और उसमें विश्वास करें, कि प्रभु यीशु मसीह ही, और केवल वह ही उनका प्रभु और उद्धारकर्ता, उनका छुड़ाने वाला है, परमेश्वर तक पहुँचने का एकमात्र मार्ग है, और यदि इसके अतिरिक्त या इसके साथ वे किसी भी अन्य व्यक्ति अथवा बात पर विश्वास करते हैं उसे कोई भी मान्यता देते हैं, तो, फिर वे उसके वास्तव में सच्चे समर्पित शिष्य, उसके लोग, परमेश्वर की सन्तान नहीं हैं। प्रभु यीशु की इस बात और उस बात के निहितार्थों के कारण संभवतः उन शिष्यों के मनों में एक खलबली मच गई होगी, वे अपने आप को और अपने अन्दर देखने लगे होंगे कि क्या हम इस कसौटी पर खरे उतरते हैं कि नहीं? 

    थोड़ा थम कर विचार कीजिए क्या पतरस की कही इस बात की समझ आपके मन में भी आपके प्रभु यीशु का शिष्य होने का दावा करने के प्रति यही खलबली मचा रही है? आप अपने आप को मसीही किस आधार पर कहते हैं? मनुष्यों के ज्ञान, चतुराई, या उसके द्वारा बनाई हुई बातें नहीं, बल्कि केवल परमेश्वर की बातें ही मनों को टटोलती हैं, झकझोरती हैं, मनों की वास्तविकता को सामने लाती हैं (इब्रानियों 4:12)।

    यदि आप एक मसीही विश्वासी हैं तो क्या आप का मसीही होना, अपने आप को मसीही विश्वासी कहना, पतरस द्वारा कही गई, और प्रभु द्वारा अनुमोदित की गई इसी बात, इसी स्वर्गीय दर्शन पर विश्वास करने और उसे स्वीकार करने पर आधारित है? या आप किसी डिनॉमिनेशन अथवा मत या समुदाय की रीतियों और मान्यताओं के पालन के द्वारा अपने आप को “मसीही” समझते आ रहे हैं? 2 कुरिन्थियों 13:5 के अनुसार, अपने आप को परख कर देखें कि आप सच्चे मसीही विश्वास में हैं कि नहीं? कहीं आप किसी भ्रम में जीते आ रहे हों, और अंततः जब सच्चाई समझ में आए, सच के लिए आँख खुले, तब तक बहुत देर हो चुकी हो।

    यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु, मैं अपने पापों के लिए पश्चातापी हूँ, उनके लिए आप से क्षमा माँगता हूँ। मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मुझे और मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

Building the Church – 9 – On The Lord Jesus Christ – 2

 

To worthily utilize and carry out one’s responsibility towards something handed over to him, he has to know about that thing, and about its purpose, its utility. God has made every Born-Again Christian Believer a member of His Church and placed him in fellowship with His other children. To understand about the Believer’s stewardship of God’s Church and of fellowshipping with God’s children we are learning about these from Matthew 16:18, where the word “Church” has been used for the first time in the Bible. We have seen that, quite contrary to a popular misconception, the Lord neither said, nor meant that His church will be built on Peter. As the Lord says in this verse, God’s Church is built by the Lord Jesus, on Himself. This is what we are learning presently through God’s Word, and today we will carry on about this from where we left in the last article.

    Carry yourself to the time and circumstances when Peter made this tremendous statement of Matthew 16:16, followed by what the Lord said about it in Matthew 16:17-18, and think about how it would have impacted and shaken up the listeners. In Deuteronomy 18:15, 18, Moses had told the Israelites about the coming of a Prophet like him, and then God had been prophesying through His prophets about His coming. During the days of the Lord Jesus’s earthly ministry there was an anticipation and expectation of His arrival at any time, as the Samaritan woman had said (John 4:25, 29) and the Jews were expecting (John 6:14; 7:41). Peter’s brother Andrew had said to him about Jesus being the Messiah (John 1:41); and after listening to the Samaritan woman and then personally experiencing Him, the people of that village had also accepted that Jesus is that promised Messiah (John 4:39, 42). But till this time, the Lord Jesus had not given as much importance to all these people being sensitive to the fact of His being the promised Messiah, as He did now after Peter’s statement through revelation from God.

    For Peter and the disciples of the Lord, the Lord Jesus’s calling Peter’s statement a revelation from God, and then making that statement by Peter the basis of gathering His called-out ones into one community, was something unimaginable and unprecedented from the Lord. From here onwards, this had become something beyond and apart from human concepts and understanding about the Lord. Now it was an authentic statement, revealed by God and affirmed by the Lord Jesus; a statement that would set and determine their future course of action. Consider the disciples being called by the Lord Jesus to follow Him; as yet, the Lord had not called any of His disciple on the basis of conforming to this statement of faith in Him. The Lord had called Peter and some others with an assurance to make them “fishers of men” (Matthew 4:19; Luke 5:10), but as yet He had never said to anyone that unless they accepted Him as the Son of God and the one and only anointed savior and redeemer of mankind appointed by God, they cannot be His people. Had He said it, then quite likely Judas Iscariot would have been cast out or would have moved away.

    But now, the Lord was saying to them, and to all others who would come to Him, that only that person will be His ‘called out one,’ one gathered to be with Him, who would accept Him as the Son of God, the one and only saviour and redeemer of mankind. In other words, because of this God given and Lord approved statement through Peter, from here onwards their association with the Lord and the Lord’s accepting them as His people would only be valid and effective if they accepted and believed in Him, the Lord Jesus Christ, and He alone as their Lord and saviour, their redeemer, their one and only way to God, and if they believed or trusted in anyone or anything besides or along with this or gave any credence, then, then they were not truly His committed disciples, His people, the children of God. Quite likely, because of what the Lord Jesus said and what it implied, the disciples would have been thrown in a turmoil within themselves; they would have started to look at and into themselves whether or not they stood up to this standard of evaluation.

    Pause for a moment and think it over; is Peter’s statement creating a turmoil within you about your claiming to be a disciple of the Lord Jesus? On what basis do you call yourself a Christian? Not the things of human wisdom, ingenuity, and creation, but only the words of God examine the hearts, shake it up, and expose the true condition of one’s heart (Hebrew 4:12).

    If you are a Christian Believer, then is your saying so based upon your believing and accepting the heavenly revelation that Peter has said and the Lord Jesus affirmed? Or, is it that you have been considering yourself to be a Christian because of your birth in a particular family and having fulfilled the rites, rituals, and traditions of your sect or denomination? According to 2 Corinthians 13:5, examine yourself and see for yourself whether or not you actually are in the Christian Faith. May it not be that you continue to live in untenable, contrived, man-made concepts and understanding about Christianity, and eventually when the reality becomes apparent, your eyes open up to the truth, it is too late.

    If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord, make your decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now to ensure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord.     सबसे पहले हमने देखा था कि बाइबल के अनुसार, कलीसिया शब्द का अर्थ कोई विशिष्ट भौतिक भवन अथवा आराधना स्थल नहीं है, वरन ‘बुलाए गए’ या ‘एकत्रित किए गए’ लोगों का समूह है। फिर हमने कुछ विस्तार से देखा और समझा था कि यह पद एक बहुत आम किन्तु बिलकुल गलत शैतानी धारणा, कि प्रभु ने यहाँ पर अपनी कलीसिया को पतरस पर बनाने के लिए कहा है का कदापि समर्थन नहीं करता है। हमने यह भी देखा है कि कलीसिया किसी मनुष्य पर नहीं, किन्तु प्रभु यीशु और उसके वचन – अर्थात, प्रभु परमेश्वर के द्वारा अपने नबियों और प्रेरितों में होकर दी गई शिक्षाओं की नींव पर स्थापित है। कलीसिया के वास्तविक अर्थ और पतरस के कलीसिया का आधार नहीं होने के स्पष्ट हो जाने के बाद, अब हम इस पद में प्रभु द्वारा कही गई और बातों को देखेंगे तथा समझेंगे, जिससे प्रभु द्वारा लोगों को मसीही विश्वास में बुलाने और उनके जीवनों से प्रभु के प्रयोजन को, उसके उद्देश्यों को हम भली-भांति समझ सकें। 

    मत्ती 16:18 में पतरस से संबंधित बात कहने के पश्चात, प्रभु यीशु का अगला वाक्य था, “...और मैं इस पत्थर पर अपनी कलीसिया बनाऊंगा...”। हम पहले देख चुके हैं कि “इस पत्थर” से प्रभु का अभिप्राय पतरस द्वारा मत्ती 16:16 में कही गई बात है कि “... तू जीवते परमेश्वर का पुत्र मसीह है”, जिसका अनुमोदन प्रभु ने पद 17 में किया, जिसके लिए पतरस को धन्य भी कहा, और यह भी कहा कि पतरस को यह प्रभु यीशु के विषय परमेश्वर द्वारा दिया गया स्वर्गीय दर्शन है, उसकी अपनी समझ अथवा बुद्धि की बात नहीं है। मत्ती 16:18 में प्रभु इसी दर्शन के अनुसार अपने द्वारा बुलाए हुए लोगों को एक समूह में एकत्रित करने, अपनी कलीसिया बनाने की बात करता है। मत्ती 16:18 की और बातों को आगे देखने से पहले यह बात समझना और ध्यान में बनाए रखना अनिवार्य है कि पतरस द्वारा पद 16 में कही गई बात, “... तू जीवते परमेश्वर का पुत्र मसीह है” क्यों परमेश्वर द्वारा पतरस को दिया गया एक स्वर्गीय दर्शन है, और क्यों यह बात इतनी महत्वपूर्ण है कि यही प्रभु द्वारा उसकी कलीसिया के बनाए जाने का आधार ठहरेगी।

    ध्यान कीजिए कि पतरस द्वारा मत्ती 16:16 में कही गई बात, “... तू जीवते परमेश्वर का पुत्र मसीह है” में प्रभु के लिए उसका वास्तविक नाम, संज्ञा “यीशु” प्रयोग नहीं किया गया है, जबकि “यीशु” ही उस का नाम था, जो स्वर्गदूत ने यूसुफ को बताया था (मत्ती 1:20-21)। इसलिए यहाँ पर पतरस द्वारा यह कहना कि  “... तू जीवते परमेश्वर का पुत्र यीशु है” अधिक उचित एवं सही होता। किन्तु न तो पतरस ने यह कहा, न ही प्रभु ने उसे सुधार के उस से यह कहलवाया, अपितु, उसकी इसी बात के लिए उसे सराहा और उसे धन्य कहा, तथा इसी बात को पिता परमेश्वर द्वारा उसे प्रदान किया गया स्वर्गीय दर्शन बताया; अर्थात, पतरस ने यह ईश्वरीय दर्शन के द्वारा कहा था। यह कलीसिया की सही समझ प्राप्त करने के लिए अनिवार्य और अत्यावश्यक तथ्य है जिसकी अवहेलना करने के द्वारा कलीसिया के विषय अनेकों गलफहमियाँ ईसाई या मसीही समाज में व्याप्त हो गई हैं, शैतान ने फैला दी हैं। हम देखते हैं कि पतरस द्वारा “यीशु” के स्थान पर “मसीह” प्रयोग करने का क्या अर्थ एवं महत्व है? 

    आम धारणा के विपरीत, “मसीह” प्रभु का नाम नहीं है; वरन उसके कार्य तथा उद्देश्य को बताने के लिए यह प्रभु को दी गई उपाधि या पहचान है। “मसीह”, या अंग्रेजी का “Christ” शब्द मूल यूनानी भाषा के “Christos” शब्द से हैं; और “Christos” शब्द का शब्दार्थ होता है किसी विशेष कार्य के लिए अभिषिक्त या मस्सा किया हुआ, या अंग्रेजी में “the Anointed one”; और हिन्दी के “मस्सा किया हुआ” से ही “मसीह” शब्द आया है। अर्थात जब पतरस ने प्रभु के प्रश्न के उत्तर में कहा कि “... तू जीवते परमेश्वर का पुत्र मसीह है”, तो वास्तव में पिता परमेश्वर ने पतरस से प्रभु यीशु के लिए कहलवाया था कि “तू ही वह परमेश्वर का पुत्र है जो अभिषिक्त या मस्सा किया हुआ है” - पतरस पर पिता परमेश्वर द्वारा प्रभु यीशु के परमेश्वर का पुत्र और जगत का एकमात्र उद्धारकर्ता होने का दर्शन प्रकट किया गया, और उसने इस दर्शन को अपने शब्दों में बोल दिया। और जब प्रभु यीशु ने पतरस द्वारा कहे गए इस वाक्य को वह “पत्थर”, अर्थात वह ‘पेत्रा’, या वह “स्थिर, दृढ़, और अडिग चट्टान” कहा जिस पर वह अपनी कलीसिया, या अपने बुलाए और एकत्रित किए हुए लोगों के समूह को स्थापित करने जा रहा था, तो प्रभु के कहने का अभिप्राय था कि “जो भी इस विश्वास के साथ उसके पास आएगा कि केवल वही परमेश्वर का पुत्र और पिता परमेश्वर की ओर से ठहराया हुआ, अभिषिक्त किया हुआ जगत का एकमात्र उद्धारकर्ता है, वही और केवल वही उसके एकत्रित किए हुओं में सम्मिलित होगा, उनके लोगों का एक भाग होगा”। प्रभु की कलीसिया का सदस्य होने के लिए इस वाक्य के महत्व पर ध्यान कीजिए, उसे अपने मन में गहराई से उतर लेने दीजिए; उस को समझिए, और आज “कलीसिया” या “चर्च” से संबंधित कई गलत धारणाओं की सच्चाई प्रकट हो जाएगी। हम अगले लेख में इसे और आगे देखेंगे तथा समझेंगे।

    यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु, मैं अपने पापों के लिए पश्चातापी हूँ, उनके लिए आप से क्षमा माँगता हूँ। मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मुझे और मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

Building the Church – 8 – On The Lord Jesus Christ – 1

Through these Bible study articles, we are learning about every Born-Again Christian Believer being a steward of whatever God has given him. He has to carry out this responsibility worthily, since eventually he will stand before God to give an account of what God had placed in his hands. Presently, we are learning about the Christian Believer being a steward of the Church of God of which God has made him a member and of fellowshipping with other of God’s children, the other Christian Believers. To worthily fulfil this responsibility, the Believer has to understand about what, Biblically speaking, the Church of God actually is, instead of remaining bogged down by man-made concepts and teachings. In the preceding articles we have seen through Matthew 16:18, “And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it.” The word Church has been used for the very first time in the Bible in this verse.

    We have seen some important Biblical facts about the Church. First, we had seen that according to the Bible, the word Church does not stand for any building, place of worship, or an organization. Rather it means a group of ‘called out people.’ We then saw in some detail that this verse does not at all support or imply a very commonly held misunderstanding that the Lord, here, was talking about building His Church on Peter. We also saw that the Church is founded not on any man, but on the Lord Jesus and His Word – i.e., the teachings given by the Lord God through His apostles and prophets. Having understood the actual meaning of the word “Church” and why the Church is not built on Peter, we will now look at and understand the other things said by the Lord in this verse bout building His Church. Through this understanding we can clearly understand the calling of the people by Lord Jesus into Christian Faith, His purpose for their lives, and what He is accomplishing through them.

    In Matthew 16:18, after saying the part related to Peter, the next thing the Lord Jesus said was “...on this rock I will build My church...” We have already seen that the words “this rock” are meant for what Peter had stated in Matthew 16:16 that “...You are the Christ, the Son of the living God” which the Lord not only affirmed in verse 17, but also appreciated Peter and commended him for saying this, and said that his saying so was a heavenly revelation to him God the Father. In Matthew 16:18, the Lord Jesus is talking about gathering His called-out ones according to this heavenly revelation together, to form His Church. Before looking at the other things said in Matthew 16:18, it is necessary to understand and bear in mind why Peter’s statement in verse 16, “...You are the Christ, the Son of the living God”, is a heavenly revelation, and why this statement is so important that it would be the basis of the Lord building His Church.

    Take note that in when Peter in Matthew 16:16 said that “...You are the Christ, the Son of the living God,” he did not use the proper noun, the actual name of the Lord, “Jesus,” which was the name of the Lord, and which the angel had told his earthly father Joseph, would be his name (Matthew 1:20-21). Therefore, it would have been more appropriate and specific for Peter to have said “...You are Jesus, the Son of the living God.” But not only did Peter not say this, the Lord also did not correct him and had him say it. Rather, the Lord appreciated and commended Peter for what he said and called his statement a heavenly revelation given to Him by God; i.e., Peter said this under divine inspiration. This is a very basic and important fact that is very necessary to learn and understand, to have a proper understanding of the Church. Because of neglecting to pay attention to it, because of ignoring it, many wrong doctrines and false teachings related to the Church have become rampant in Christendom, started and spread by Satan to cause harm to the Church. Let us see what is the meaning and importance of the word “Christ” used by Peter, instead of “Jesus”?

    Contrary to the common belief and understanding, “Christ” is not the name of the Lord Jesus; it is a title given to Him to denote His work and purpose. The word “Christ” comes from the Greek word “Christos” used in the original language, and its literal meaning is ‘one who is anointed to carry out a specific work,’ which in English can also be stated as ‘the Anointed One.’ So, when Peter, in response to the Lord’s question, said to Him “...You are the Christ, the Son of the living God,” what God the Father through the heavenly revelation had made him say was “you are the Anointed Son of God” - God the Father had revealed to Peter that the Lord Jesus was the Son of God, the Anointed one and only savior and redeemer of mankind, which Peter then spoke out in those words. Then, the Lord Jesus said for the statement Peter had made that it, i.e., the revelation received by Peter from God, was the “petra” i.e., the firm, unshakeable, established “rock” on which He will be building His Church, will be establishing the group of His called-out ones. The implication of what the Lord said regarding Peter’s statement can be surmised as follows: “whoever comes to Him with the faith that He, the Lord Jesus, is the Son of God and the only one anointed by God to be the one and only savior and redeemer, only that person will be included amongst His called-out ones, entitled to be one of His people.” Ponder over the importance of this statement about being a member of the Lord’s Church, and let it sink in; understand it, and the actual truth about many of the wrong concepts and notions about the “Church” or “Assembly” prevalent today will be exposed and become clear. In the next article we will consider and understand this further.

    If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord, make your decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now to ensure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Repenting of your sins, and asking the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily and sincerely, surrendering yourself to Him - is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life.  Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.

परमेश्वर की कलीसिया के तथा उस की अन्य सन्तानों के साथ सहभागिता रखने योग्य भण्डारी होने के लिए, नया-जन्म पाए हुए मसीही विश्वासी होने के नाते, हम प्रभु की कलीसिया, तथा परमेश्वर की सन्तानों के साथ सहभागिता रखने के बारे में सीख रहे हैं। प्रभु ने मत्ती 16:18 में कहा कि वह ही अपनी कलीसिया बनाएगा। किन्तु शैतान इस पद का दुरुपयोग करके, एक गलत शिक्षा ले आया है, जो दुर्भाग्यवश, ईसाई या मसीही समाज में काफी मान्य और प्रचलित भी हो गई है, कि प्रभु ने अपनी कलीसिया पतरस पर बनाई है। हमने इस पद के विश्लेषण के द्वारा, तथा पवित्र शास्त्र के अन्य भागों से इस बात को देखा है कि यह एक अस्वीकार्य और गलत धारणा है। अभी हम बाइबल से पतरस के चरित्र के कुछ गुणों को देख रहे हैं जो यह दिखाते हैं कि क्यों वह कलीसिया का आधार कभी नहीं हो सकता था। पिछले दो लेखों में हमने कुछ गुण देखे हैं, और कुछ अन्य को आज देख कर इस भाग का समापन करेंगे।

• पतरस में प्रभु की विश्वव्यापी कलीसिया की स्थापना का दर्शन नहीं था; इसी अपरिपक्वता और दर्शनों की नासमझी के कारण, वह यह नहीं समझ सका था कि प्रभु अन्यजातियों से भी उतना ही प्रेम करता है जितना यहूदियों से, जैसा उसने प्रेरितों 1:8 में शिष्यों तथा पतरस से सामरिया और संसार के छोर तक जाकर प्रचार करने के दायित्व देने के द्वारा प्रकट किया था। वह कुरनेलियुस के घर जाकर अपनी इसी अपरिपक्वता और नासमझी को प्रकट करता है,  कुरनेलियुस के घर पहुँचने के बाद भी, पतरस वहाँ पर, यहूदी होने के कारण अपने आप को ‘उच्च’ दिखाने का प्रयास करता है, बजाए इसके कि जिसके यहाँ प्रभु ने उसे भेजा है, उसके साथ आदर से बात करे (प्रेरितों 10:28-29)। जो व्यक्ति प्रभु के सुसमाचार के विश्वव्यापी उद्देश्य को नहीं समझता था, वह प्रभु की विश्वव्यापी कलीसिया के दर्शन को क्या जानेगा, और उसका आधार कैसे होगा?

• पतरस लोगों को दिखाने के लिए अपने मसीही व्यवहार को बदलने और कपट करने वाला व्यक्ति था, और उसके इस व्यवहार के कारण उसके साथ रहने वाले और भी लोग बहक जाते थे। गलातियों 2:11-21 में, घटना लिखी गई है जब पौलुस के मसीही हो जाने के चौदह वर्षों (गलातियों 2:1) से भी अधिक के बाद, अर्थात पतरस ने लगभग दो दशकों तक कलीसिया में कार्य करते रहने के बाद भी, लोगों को दिखाने के लिए अपने आप को यहूदियों को स्वीकार्य दिखाने का प्रयास किया था, और उसके साथ बरनबास जैसे विश्वासी लोग भी इस बात में गिर गए। यह इतनी गंभीर गलती थी, कि पतरस के इस व्यवहार और उसकी भर्त्सना के लिए पवित्र आत्मा ने पौलुस के द्वारा इस व्यवहार और उससे संबंधित बातों के लिए “कपट” (पद 13 ), “सुसमाचार की सच्चाई पर सीधी चाल नहीं चलना” (पद 14), “विश्वास की नहीं वरन कर्मों की धार्मिकता को दिखाने वाला” (पद 16), “पापी” (पद 17), “अपराधी” (पद 18), “परमेश्वर के अनुग्रह को व्यर्थ ठहराने वाला” (पद 21) जैसे कठोर और कटु शब्दों का सब के सामने, सार्वजनिक रीति से उपयोग किया, और इस घटना को तथा उससे संबंधित भर्त्सना के उन शब्दों को अनन्तकाल के लिए अपने वचन में लिखवा भी दिया, जिससे आज हम पतरस के समान ही मनुष्यों को प्रसन्न करने के लिए परमेश्वर की शिक्षाओं से विमुख होने की इस गलती में न पड़ जाएं।

    अब विचार कीजिए, क्या प्रभु जो आदि से लेकर अन्त तक की हर बात को जानता है, जिससे कोई बात छुपी नहीं है, जिसके लिए भविष्य भी वर्तमान के समान ही है, क्या वह ऐसे अस्थिर और डांवांडोल व्यवहार और प्रवृत्ति रखने वाले मनुष्य पर कलीसिया स्थापित करेगा? वह भी अपनी स्वयं की शिक्षा (मत्ती 7:24-27) के विरुद्ध?

    यदि आप एक मसीही विश्वासी हैं, तो परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा की आज्ञाकारिता एवं अधीनता में वचन की सच्चाइयों को उससे समझें। किसी के भी द्वारा कही गई कोई भी बात को तुरंत ही पूर्ण सत्य के रूप में स्वीकार न करें, विशेषकर तब, जब वह बात बाइबल की अन्य बातों के साथ ठीक मेल नहीं रखती हो। सदा इस बात का ध्यान रखें कि वचन के हर शब्द, हर बात को न केवल उसके तात्कालिक संदर्भ में देखें, समझें, तथा व्याख्या करें, वरन यह भी सुनिश्चित करें कि आपकी वह समझ और व्याख्या वचन में अन्य स्थानों पर दी गई संबंधित बातों एवं शिक्षाओं के अनुरूप भी है, उनके साथ किसी प्रकार का कोई विरोधाभास नहीं है। कभी भी किसी भी गलत शिक्षा को न तो स्वीकार करें और न ही उसका प्रचार और प्रसार करें; परमेश्वर अपने वचन की सच्चाइयों की अवहेलना करने वालों को फिर उन्हीं की मनसा के अनुसार भयानक भ्रम और विनाश में डाल देता है (यहेजकेल 14:7-8; 2 थिस्सलुनीकियों 2:10-12)।

Building the Church – 7 – On Peter? – 7

 

To be worthy stewards of God’s Church and of fellowshipping with God’s other children, as Born-Again Christian Believers, we are learning about the Church of the Lord and about the fellowshipping with God’s children. The Lord said in Matthew 16:18, that He will build His Church. But Satan has manipulated the Lord’s Word, and brought in a false teaching, that unfortunately has been commonly accepted and believed upon in Christendom, that the Lord has built His Church on Peter. We have seen from the analysis of this verse, as well as other portions of the Scriptures that this is an untenable false notion. We are now considering some of Peter’s character traits from the Bible, that show why he could never be the foundation of the Church. We have already seen some of these in the previous two articles, and will see some more today, and conclude this part.

• Peter did not have the vision of the world-wide Church of the Lord that included the gentiles; because of this lack of spiritual maturity and his inability to understand the visions from the Lord, he did not understand that the Lord loved the gentiles just as much as he loved the Jews, as the Lord had expressed when He had asked the disciples, including Peter, to go to Samaria and the ends of the world with the gospel (Acts 1:8). Peter exposed this lack of spiritual maturity and lack of understanding on reaching the house of Cornelius, after reaching the house of Cornelius, Peter tries to show off his ‘superiority’ as a Jew, instead of treating the one to whom the Lord has sent him, respectfully (Acts 10:28-29). The person who does not understand the world-wide application of the gospel, how can he be expected to have an understanding about the world-wide Church of the Lord Jesus? How then can he ever be the foundation for building that world-wide Church?

• Peter was prone to change his Christian behavior and be hypocritical about it, to please people and be seen to be right in their eyes, and because of this, others with him too would fall into the same wrong. In Galatians 2:11-21, an incident is given, when more than 14 years after the conversion of Paul (Galatians 2:1), i.e., after Peter,s nearly two-decades of working in and for the Church of the Lord, he tried to make himself pleasing to men and not offend them by acting hypocritically, and even Believer’s like Barnabas fell into the same hypocrisy because of him, with him. This was such a serious wrong that the Holy Spirit through Paul rebuked him severely, called his behavior by various unpleasant, very strong and deprecating expressions, e.g., “hypocrisy” (v. 13), “that they were not straightforward about the truth of the gospel” (v. 14), showing himself as justified by works and not by faith (v. 16), “sinners” and “minister of sin” (v. 17), a “transgressor” (v. 18), and one who “set aside the grace of God” (v. 21). Not only did the God the Holy Spirit say all this to Peter and the others through Paul openly and publicly, but also had it recorded for eternity in God’s eternal unalterable Word, so that today, we may not fall into the same grave mistake of going against the teachings of the Lord for the sake of pleasing men.

 

    Now think for yourself, can the Lord God who knows everything about everything and everyone, from the beginning to the end; from whom nothing is hidden; for whom past-present-future are all alike, without any differentiation, would He establish His Church on such a shaky and vacillating man; one who could make others fall because of his hypocrisy, rashness, and impatience, and refuse to obey God for the sake of his own contrived righteousness? Will the Lord go against His own teachings of Matthew 7:24-27 for such a man?

    If you are a Christian Believer, then you should learn to discern and understand the truths of God’s Word under the guidance and teaching of the Holy Spirit. Do not accept anything and everything as the truth unless and until you have cross-checked and verified it from the Bible with the help of the Holy Spirit; more so when that thing does not seem to be consistent with the other related things of the Bible. Those who knowingly and willingly choose to go against the truths and facts of God’s Word, choose to believe and do according to their thinking and mentality, God sends them into a terrible deception and destruction (Ezekiel 14:7-8; 2 Thessalonians 2:10-12).

    If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord, make your decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now to ensure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Repenting of your sins, and asking the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily and sincerely, surrendering yourself to Him - is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life.  Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.
