    पिछले लेख में हमने देखा है कि प्रभु यीशु की पृथ्वी पर सेवकाई के दिनों में, यहूदियों में प्रतिज्ञा किये हुए मसीहा, अर्थात् छुटकारा देने वाले के आगमन की प्रत्याशा थी। किन्तु उनकी आशा एक ऐसे छुड़ाने वाले के लिए थी जो उन्हें, उन पर शासन कर रहे रोमी साम्राज्य से मुक्त करवाए, और राज्य को फिर से उनके हाथों में कर दे – उनके लिए सुसमाचार बस यही था, सुसमाचार का इतना ही अर्थ था। वे अपने आप को पाप के दासत्व में नहीं देखते थे; उनके दृष्टिकोण से व्यवस्था एवं धार्मिक रीतियों का पालन करना उन्हें परमेश्वर के स्वर्गीय राज्य में प्रवेश दिलवाने के लिए पर्याप्त था – इसलिए उनके लिए यह कोई समस्या नहीं थी। उनकी समस्या, उन पर शासन करने वाले रोमी थे; और वे उनसे मुक्त होना चाहते थे। यद्यपि प्रभु का अग्रदूत, यूहन्ना बपतिस्मा देने वाला, लोगों को प्रभु यीशु की सेवकाई के लिए तैयार कर रहा था।  इसके लिए वह लोगों में पापों से पश्चाताप या मन-फिराव का प्रचार कर रहा था और जो पश्चाताप करते थे उन्हें बपतिस्मा देता था; और जो इसे एक रीति के समान लेना चाहते थे, उन्हें मना कर देता था (मत्ती 3:1-12)। फिर भी उन यहूदियों के दृष्टिकोण से, जिनके बीच में वह सेवकाई कर रहा था, पापों के दासत्व से छुटकारा पाने का उनके लिए का कोई महत्व नहीं था, उन्हें अपने पापों की स्थिति से कोई परेशानी नहीं थी।

    जब धनी धार्मिक अधिकारी युवक प्रभु के पास आया, तब वह भली-भान्ति जानता था कि उसके द्वारा आज्ञाओं को मानते चले आने के बावजूद, उसमें कुछ कमी थी, और वह परमेश्वर के राज्य में प्रवेश करने के योग्य नहीं था (मत्ती 19:16-22)। फरीसियों का सरदार, निकुदेमुस, भी प्रभु के पास कुछ शंकाओं के समाधान के लिए आया था, और इससे पहले कि वह अपनी समस्या को बोलने भी पाता, प्रभु ने उसे उत्तर दे दिया – उसे नया-जन्म लेना अवश्य था, नहीं तो वह परमेश्वर के राज्य में प्रवेश करना तो दूर, उसे देख भी नहीं पाएगा (यूहन्ना 3:3, 5, 7)। दूसरे शब्दों में, उसके एक उच्च ओहदे वाला धर्म-गुरु और वचन का शिक्षक होने के बावजूद, वह अपने आप में जानता था कि उसकी सारी धार्मिकता, व्यवस्था के पालन, और रीतियों के निर्वाह के बावजूद, वह अभी भी परमेश्वर को स्वीकार्य नहीं बन पाया था; उसमें अभी भी किसी बात की कमी थी। 

    सभी सुसमाचारों के वृतांतों में हम प्रभु यीशु को, उस समय के धार्मिक अगुवों – फरीसियों, सदूकियों, शास्त्रियों, आदि को, उनके धार्मिक होने के बावजूद उनके पाखण्ड के लिए फटकार लगाते हुए देखते हैं (मत्ती 23)। प्रभु ने उनकी धार्मिकता को माना, किन्तु उस धार्मिकता को परमेश्वर के राज्य में प्रवेश देने के लिए अपर्याप्त बताया (मत्ती 5:20)। इसी प्रकार से परमेश्वर के लिए अति-उत्साही फरीसी, शाऊल, जिसे हम उसके परिवर्तित होने के बाद पौलुस के नाम से जानते हैं, ने व्यवस्था पालन के आधार पर अपनी स्व-धार्मिकता के बारे में कुछ बहुत महत्वपूर्ण बात कही हैं – कि व्यवस्था पालन की धार्मिकता के अनुसार तो वह निर्दोष था; लेकिन फिर भी प्रभु यीशु में विश्वास करने से मिलने वाली धार्मिकता के आधार पर, उसकी पहले वाली, व्यवस्था पालन की धार्मिकता, व्यर्थ थी (फिलिप्पियों 3:4-12)। हम यह भी देखते हैं कि यरूशलेम में जो धर्मी यहूदी (प्रेरितों 2:5) व्यवस्था की आवश्यकताओं के पालन के लिए एकत्रित हुए थे, पिन्तेकुस्त के दिन पतरस द्वारा दिए गए सन्देश द्वारा उनके हृदय छिद गए, उन्हें एहसास हो गया कि उनकी धर्म-परायणता और उस से अपेक्षित धार्मिकता निरर्थक थी। इसलिए वे पुकार उठे कि अब अपनी वास्तविक स्थिति के समाधान के लिए उन्हें क्या करना चाहिए। ध्यान कीजिए, पतरस ने उन्हें और अधिक धर्मी बनने, परमेश्वर के प्रति और अधिक उत्साही होने, व्यवस्था के पालन के प्रति और अधिक प्रतिबद्ध होने, आदि जैसी कोई बात करने के लिए नहीं कहा; वरन, उन से पश्चाताप करने या मन-फिराव के लिए कहा (प्रेरितों 2:37-38)।

    यहाँ तक कि सबसे अधिक धर्मी व्यक्ति, अय्यूब, जिसकी धार्मिकता के विषय परमेश्वर ने दो बार दावा किया (अय्यूब 1:1,8; 2:3), जब उसका सामना परमेश्वर से हुआ तो वह तुरन्त पहचान गया कि वास्तव में वह कितना तुच्छ और पापी है। और अपने आप को सही ठहराने की बजाए, जैसा कि वह अपने मित्रों के सामने कर रहा था, उसने परमेश्वर के सामने तुरन्त पश्चाताप किया (अय्यूब 40:4-5; 42:5-6)। परमेश्वर का नबी यशायाह, यद्यपि वह परमेश्वर की सेवकाई में लगा हुआ था, किन्तु जब उसने स्वर्ग के दर्शन में परमेश्वर के सिंहासन और अन्य बातों को देखा तो पुकार उठा कि वह नाश होने योग्य अशुद्ध होंठों वाला मनुष्य है (यशायाह 6:5) – उसने तब तक की गई उसकी परमेश्वर की सेवकाई का कोई सन्दर्भ, उसके आधार पर अपने आप को सही ठहराने का कोई प्रयास नहीं किया; केवल अपनी धार्मिकता की वास्तविक स्थिति को मान लिया, पश्चाताप कर लिया। अब्राहम भी, जो “परमेश्वर का मित्र” कहलाता है (2 इतिहास 20:7; यशायाह 41:8; याकूब 2:23), परमेश्वर के सामने अपने किसी कार्य अथवा परमेश्वर के साथ उसके सम्बन्ध के आधार पर धर्मी नहीं ठहरा, बल्कि अपने विश्वास करने के कारण धर्मी ठहरा। उसका विश्वास करना ही उसके लिए धार्मिकता गिना गया (इब्रानियों 11:8-9; रोमियों 4:3; गलतियों 3:6)।

    परमेश्वर का वचन बहुत स्पष्ट है, कोई भी, किसी भी धर्म, या किसी भी प्रकार के धार्मिकता के कार्य, या धर्म, धर्म के कार्यों, और धर्म के रीति-रिवाजों के पालन के आधार पर परमेश्वर की दृष्टि में उसके राज्य में प्रवेश करने योग्य भला नहीं ठहरता है। ऐसी सारी धार्मिकता परमेश्वर की दृष्टि में मैले चिथड़ों के समान है, उसे अस्वीकार्य और अयोग्य है (यशायाह 64:6)। यह उस समय के यहूदियों के लिए, और आज के मसीहियों या ईसाईयों के लिए समान रीति से लागू है। यदि परमेश्वर के राज्य में धर्म के निर्वाह और धार्मिकता के कार्यों से प्रवेश कर पाना संभव होता, तो प्रभु यीशु मसीह को मनुष्य बनकर पृथ्वी पर उतर आने, पापी मनुष्यों द्वारा अपमानित होने, अपराधी के समान क्रूस पर मरने की कोई आवश्यकता नहीं थी। 

    परमेश्वर केवल किसी अन्य नबी को भेज देता, जो परमेश्वर के दृष्टिकोण से बातों को थोड़ा और स्पष्ट कर देता, लोगों को समझा देता, और मनुष्यों को अपने उद्धार के लिए कार्य करने की प्रेरणा दे देता। किन्तु यह करने की बजाए, जैसे कि प्रभु ने निकुदेमुस से कहा था, और आज हमारे लिए भी वैसा ही लागू है, प्रत्येक जन को परमेश्वर के राज्य में प्रवेश करने के लिए, नया-जन्म लेना अनिवार्य है; चाहे उसका धर्म और कार्य कुछ भी हों (प्रेरितों 17:30-31)। परमेश्वर का वचन बिलकुल स्पष्ट है, कहीं कोई शंका नहीं है, कि कोई भी, कभी भी, “मसीही” या “ईसाई” होकर जन्म नहीं लेता है, अर्थात जन्म से ही “मसीही” या “ईसाई” नहीं होता है; हर किसी को नया-जन्म लेने के द्वारा ही “मसीही” बनना होता है। 

    अगले लेख में हम देखेंगे कि क्यों कोई भी परमेश्वर के सम्मुख व्यवस्था के पालन से धर्मी नहीं ठहरता है; और उसके बाद देखेंगे कि परमेश्वर के दृष्टिकोण से, जैसा कि उसने अपने वचन में लिखवाया है, क्यों किसी परिवार विशेष, अथवा किसी धर्म के अन्तर्गत जन्म लेने से और कुछ रीति-रिवाजों को पूरा करने से कोई “मसीही” नहीं हो जाता है।

    यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। स्वेच्छा से अपने पापों के लिये पश्चाताप करके प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु, मैं अपने पापों के लिए पश्चातापी हूँ, उनके लिए आप से क्षमा माँगता हूँ। मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मुझे और मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

Teachings Related to the Gospel – 15

 

    In the previous article we have seen that at the time of the earthly ministry of the Lord Jesus, the Jews were anticipating the arrival of the promised Messiah, i.e., the deliverer. But they were waiting for a deliverer who would deliver them from the Romans ruling over them, and restore their kingdom to them – to them that was all that the gospel, or the good news meant. They did not consider themselves to be under the bondage of sin; to them, fulfilling the religious laws and rituals was sufficient to qualify them to enter the heavenly Kingdom of God – so that was no problem. Their problem was the Romans ruling over them; and that is what they wanted to be delivered from. Even though the Lord’s forerunner, John the Baptist, had come and was preparing the people for the ministry of the Lord Jesus. For this he was preaching to them to repent from sins; baptizing those who repented, and refusing to baptize those who wanted to get it done as a mere ritual (Matthew 3:1-12). Yet, from the point-of-view of the Jews amongst whom he was ministering, deliverance from the bondage of sins was the least of their problems, their sinful state did not bother them at all.

    When the Rich Young Ruler came to the Lord, he well knew that despite having obeyed the Commandments from his youth, he lacked something, and was unworthy of entering the Kingdom of God (Matthew 19:16-22). The leader of the Pharisees, Nicodemus, too came to the Lord with his doubts, and even before he could speak out that which was bothering him, the Lord gave him the answer – he must be Born-Again, otherwise let alone enter, he would not even see the Kingdom of God (John 3:3, 5, 7). In other words, despite his being a high-ranking religious leader and teacher, he knew within himself that all his religiosity and fulfilling the Law and the rituals had still not made him acceptable to God, to enter His Kingdom; he still lacked something. 

    Throughout the Gospel accounts we repeatedly find the Lord castigating the religious leaders of His time – the Pharisees, the Sadducees, the Scribes, etc. for their hypocrisy, despite their being religious (Matthew 23). The Lord acknowledged their righteousness, but also called their righteousness as insufficient to enter God’s Kingdom (Matthew 5:20). Similarly, the zealous Pharisee Saul, also known as Paul after his conversion, had something very important to say about his self-professed righteousness based on his religious observances – that on the basis of the righteousness of the Law, he was blameless; but yet, on the basis of the righteousness that comes through faith in the Lord Jesus, his former self-professed righteousness through the observance of the Law was vain (Philippians 3:4-12). We also see that the devout Jews (Acts 2:5) who had gathered in Jerusalem to fulfil the requirements of the Law, on hearing Peter’s sermon on the day of Pentecost were convicted, realizing that their religiosity and their expected righteousness was inconsequential. Therefore, they cried out wanting to know what to do to rectify their situation. Notice that Peter did not ask them to be more religious, more zealous, more committed to obeying the Law; but asked them to repent (Acts 2:37-38).

    Even the most religious man, Job, about whose righteousness God spoke of twice (Job 1:1, 8; 2:3), on being confronted by God realised how vile and sinful he actually was, and instead of trying to justify himself, as he had been doing with his friends, he immediately repented before God (Job 40:4-5; 42:5-6). God’s prophet, Isaiah, although he was already engaged in the ministry for the Lord, but when he saw the vision of heaven, God’s throne, and the other things there, he immediately cried out that he was a man of unclean lips worthy to be destroyed (Isaiah 6:5) – he did not try to justify himself through his ministry carried out by him for the Lord till then; he simply acknowledged his actual state and repented. Even Abraham, called the “Friend of God” (2 Chronicles 20:7; Isaiah 41:8; James 2:23), was justified before God not because of his relationship with God or any of his works, but because of his faith. It was his faith that was accounted to him as righteousness (Hebrews 11:8-9; Romans 4:3; Galatians 3:6).

    God’s Word is very clear, no one’s religion, or religious works of any kind, or any righteousness claimed on the basis of religion and their religious works and observances, have ever qualified them to be right with God, and be considered good enough to enter God’s Kingdom. All such righteousness is like filthy rags in the eyes of God, unacceptable to Him and vain (Isaiah 64:6). This was so then for the Jews then, and now also for Christianity and the Christians. If it had been possible to be good enough to enter the Kingdom of God through religion and works, then there was no need for the Lord Jesus to have come down to earth, be humiliated by sinful men, be crucified as a criminal, and suffer death. 

    All God needed to do was send another prophet, clarify things from God’s point-of-view a bit better and some more, and let men work for their salvation. But instead of this, as the Lord Jesus said to Nicodemus then, and is applicable for us today, each and every one has to be Born-Again to be able to enter the Kingdom of God; this is applicable to all men, everywhere; irrespective of their religion and works (Acts 17:30-31). God’s Word is very clear and unambiguous, no one is ever born a “Christian;” everyone must be Born-Again to be a “Christian.” 

    In the next article we will see why people could not be justified before God through the observance of the Law; and after that we will see why, from God’s point-of-view, as is given in His Word, no one can be called a “Christian” by virtue of being born in a particular family, under a particular religion, and fulfilling of certain rites and rituals.

    If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord, make your decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now to ensure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Voluntarily repent of your sins and ask the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily and sincerely surrender yourself to Him - this the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life.  Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.

परमेश्वर की कलीसिया और उसके बच्चों के साथ सहभागिता रखने, जहाँ पर परमेश्वर ने स्वतः ही प्रत्येक नया-जन्म पाए हुए मसीही विश्वासी को उसके उद्धार पाने के पल से ही रखा है, की बाइबल पर आधारित सही समझ के बिना, कोई भी मसीही विश्वासी परमेश्वर द्वारा सौंपे गए भण्डारी होने के इस कार्य का उचित रीति से निर्वाह कभी नहीं कर सकता है। हम कलीसिया के बारे में मत्ती 16:18 से सीख रहे हैं, जहाँ पर बाइबल में पहली बार “कलीसिया” के बारे में बात की गई है। हाल ही के पिछले लेखों में हमने विस्तृत विश्लेषण के द्वारा देखा है कि बहुत प्रचलित किन्तु गलत धारणा के विपरीत, कलीसिया पतरस पर नहीं बनी है। बल्कि प्रभु यीशु ही अपनी कलीसिया, अर्थात उसके बुलाए हुए लोगों का विश्वव्यापी एवं एक ही समूह, केवल अपने ही ऊपर बना रहा है। पिछले लेख में हमने पतरस द्वारा परमेश्वर के प्रकटीकरण से कही गई और प्रभु यीशु द्वारा अनुमोदन की गई बात के अर्थ, उसके निहितार्थ, और व्यावहारिक अभिप्राय को समझा था। आज हम आगे बढ़ते हुए, देखेंगे कि बाइबल के अनुसार “मसीही” होने का क्या अर्थ होता है।  

    “मसीही” कहलाना या समझे जाना, और वास्तविकता में वह सच्चा “मसीही” अर्थात प्रभु यीशु का शिष्य (प्रेरितों 11:26) होना, जिसकी बात प्रभु यीशु ने मत्ती 16:18 में की है, व्यवहारिक रीति से दो बिलकुल भिन्न बातें हैं। यद्यपि सामान्यतः यही समझा और माना जाता है कि किसी परिवार या धर्म विशेष में जन्म लेने के आधार पर, या किसी डिनॉमिनेशन, अथवा संस्था, या “चर्च” का सदस्य होने और उसकी प्रथाओं के निर्वाह, और कुछ अनुष्ठानों की पूर्ति, आदि के द्वारा व्यक्ति जन्म से ही ईसाई या मसीही होता है या फिर बन जाता है। किन्तु इस आम धारणा के विपरीत, परमेश्वर के वचन बाइबल की वास्तविकता यही है कि ऐसा करने से वह व्यक्ति समाज, कुछ लोगों, अथवा उस “चर्च” या डिनॉमिनेशन या संस्था के द्वारा तो “मसीही” माना और कहा जा सकता है; किन्तु अनिवार्य नहीं है कि वह वास्तव में प्रभु की दृष्टि में भी “मसीही” हो, प्रभु की दृष्टि में उसकी कलीसिया या बुलाए हुए लोगों में भी सम्मिलित हो। 

    क्योंकि जो कोई भी अपने परिवार, अपनी धार्मिकता, अपने कर्मों, अपनी “चर्च” या डिनॉमिनेशन या संस्था की सदस्यता, अपने द्वारा प्रथाओं के निर्वाह और अनुष्ठानों की पूर्ति आदि पर आधारित होकर प्रभु की कलीसिया का सदस्य होना चाहता अथवा समझता है कि ये बातें उसके प्रभु का जन माने जाने के लिए पर्याप्त हैं, वह इस प्राथमिक आधारभूत बात की वास्तविकता की उपेक्षा कर देता है, जिसके बारे में हमने पिछले लेख में पतरस के कथन से देखा और सीखा है। क्योंकि फिर वह अपना विश्वास, अपना भरोसा, प्रभु यीशु के “मसीहा” होने पर नहीं, उस के एकमात्र उद्धारकर्ता और परमेश्वर तक पहुँचने का मार्ग (यूहन्ना 14:6) होने पर नहीं, बल्कि सँसार की गढ़ी हुई बातों, जिन्हें मनुष्यों ने बनाया और प्रभु यीशु के नाम में लागू किया है, को मानने और उन का पालन करने पर कर रहा है कि वे उसे बचा लेंगी और परमेश्वर तक पहुँचा देंगी. अर्थात, वह प्रभु यीशु के अतिरिक्त किसी अन्य मार्ग पर भरोसा कर रहा है; परमेश्वर तक पहुँचने के लिए, परमेश्वर के वचन के विरुद्ध, कर्मों के मार्ग पर विश्वास कर रहा है (इफिसियों 2:5, 8-9)। जब कि बाइबल के अनुसार, प्रभु यीशु को परमेश्वर का “मसीह” स्वीकार करना पापों से पश्चाताप तथा अपना जीवन उसे समर्पित कर देने के द्वारा होता है (रोमियों 10:9-10); न कि परिवार, वंशावली, कर्मों, धर्म, डिनॉमिनेशन की शिक्षाओं और परम्पराओं के पालन आदि के द्वारा।

    ध्यान कीजिए, जब यूहन्ना बपतिस्मा देने वाले ने प्रभु के आगमन के लिए लोगों को तैयार करना आरंभ किया तो उसके प्रचार का प्रथम और मुख्य विषय पश्चाताप करना था (मत्ती 3:1-2)। यही प्रभु यीशु की सेवकाई का भी प्रथम और मुख्य विषय था (मरकुस 1:15); तथा प्रभु द्वारा शिष्यों को अपने स्वर्गारोहण के समय दिए गए अंतिम निर्देश का भी भाग था (लूका 24:47)। यही शिष्यों के द्वारा किए गए पहले प्रचार का मुख्य विषय था (मरकुस 6:12); और पश्चाताप करना ही पतरस के द्वारा किए गए पहले प्रचार का प्रथम और मुख्य विषय था (प्रेरितों 2:38), जिससे प्रथम कलीसिया की स्थापना हुई थी। यही पौलुस के द्वारा किए गए प्रचार का मुख्य विषय था (प्रेरितों 20:21); और पुराने नियम के भविष्यद्वक्ताओं की सेवकाई का विषय भी यही था (यिर्मयाह 25:4-5)। इसलिए जब प्रभु ने केवल उसे ही जगत का एकमात्र उद्धारकर्ता स्वीकार करने के आधार पर लोगों को बुलाने और अपने साथ एकत्रित करने, कलीसिया को बनाने की बात की, तो कोई अनूठा या नया विषय सामने नहीं रखा। प्रभु ने वही दृढ़ता से दोहराया और उसी की पुष्टि की जो पुराने नियम में भविष्यद्वक्ताओं की सेवकाई का विषय था, यूहन्ना बपतिस्मा देने वाले की सेवकाई का विषय था, प्रभु की अपनी सेवकाई का, और शिष्यों द्वारा की गई सेवकाई का विषय था; और जो भविष्य में अन्य शिष्यों द्वारा की जाने वाली सेवकाई का भी विषय होना था।

    बिना अपने पापों से पश्चाताप किए और प्रभु यीशु को अपना जीवन पूर्णतः समर्पण करके जीवन में परिवर्तन किए (रोमियों 12:1-2) उद्धार पाने या परमेश्वर को स्वीकार्य प्रभु का जन हो जाने की कोई शिक्षा बाइबल में कहीं नहीं दी गई है। प्रभु का जन बनना प्रत्येक व्यक्ति के द्वारा व्यक्तिगत रीति से और स्वेच्छा से अपने पापों के लिए किए गए पश्चाताप, उन पापों की क्षमा और निवारण के लिए प्रभु यीशु द्वारा क्रूस पर किए गए कार्य को स्वीकार करने, और अपना जीवन पूर्णतः प्रभु को समर्पित करने के द्वारा होता है। चाहे उस व्यक्ति का जन्म किसी भी परिवार में हुआ हो, और चाहे उसने कितनी भी “ईसाई या मसीही” रीतियों और अनुष्ठानों को निभाया हो, पश्चाताप करना सभी के लिये अनिवार्य है (प्रेरितों 17:30-31)। “नया-जन्म” प्राप्त करने का अभिप्राय प्रभु को “मसीह” या परमेश्वर द्वारा नियुक्त जगत का एकमात्र उद्धारकर्ता होना स्वीकार करना ही है। प्रभु की कलीसिया या मण्डली उन ही लोगों से मिलकर बनी है जो इस मूल सिद्धांत को स्वीकार करके इसका पालन करते हैं; इसमें कुछ और जोड़ते-घटाते नहीं हैं, इसे मनुष्यों की समझ-बुद्धि-ज्ञान की बातों के द्वारा भ्रष्ट नहीं करते हैं, और बाइबल के बाहर की किसी अन्य बात को इसके साथ या इसके अतिरिक्त मानने या मनवाने का प्रयास नहीं करते हैं। 

    हम अगले लेख में देखेंगे कि क्यों ये बातें केवल शब्दों का खेल या मात्र एक भिन्न समझ रखना कह कर टाल देने की बातें नहीं हैं; ये इतनी महत्वपूर्ण क्यों हैं; ये अनन्त जीवन का वारिस होने के लिए समझे और माने जाने के लिए अनिवार्य क्यों हैं। 

    यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। स्वेच्छा से अपने पापों के लिये पश्चाताप करके, प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु, मैं अपने पापों के लिए पश्चातापी हूँ, उनके लिए आप से क्षमा माँगता हूँ। मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मुझे और मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

Building the Church – 11 – On The Lord Jesus Christ – 3

Without a proper Biblical understanding about God’s Church and of fellowshipping with God’s children, where God automatically has placed every Born-Again Christian Believer since the moment of his salvation, no Christian Believer can fulfil this God given stewardship worthily. We are studying about the Church from Matthew 16:18, the first place in the Bible where the “Church” has been talked about. In the recent previous articles we have seen through a detailed analytical study about this verse, that contrary to the very common misconception, the Church is not built upon Peter. But it is the Lord Jesus who is building His Church, i.e., the universal and single group of people called out and gathered together by Him, only upon Himself. In the previous article we had understood the meaning, implication, and application of what Peter had said through revelation from God, which had also been approved by the Lord Jesus Christ. Today, moving forward, we will see what it Biblically means to be a “Christian.”

    To be called and known by the world as a “Christian,” and to actually be the true committed “Christian” i.e., a disciple of Christ (Acts 11:26), that the Lord is talking about in Matthew 16:18, practically, are two entirely different things altogether. Although it is commonly believed and accepted that because of being born in a particular family or religion, or because of fulfilling the rites, rituals, traditions, and ceremonies of a particular sect or denomination, or taking membership of a particular “church” according to its rules and regulations, one is either born as a “Christian,” or becomes one. But contrary to this common concept and belief, the Biblical teaching is that through all of these, though a person may be seen and accepted as a “Christian” by some people, by the society, or by a particular sect or denomination; but it is not necessary that he or she would also be considered by the Lord Jesus a “Christian,” a member of His called out ones, His Church. 

    This is because, whoever considers and believes himself to be a “Christian” because of being born in a particular family, or because of his religion, being religious, doing good works, fulfilling the requirements of the sect or denomination he belongs to and following its rites, rituals, ceremonies, etc., or thinks that his fulfilling these things is sufficient for him to be considered as one of the people of God, he automatically ignores and disobeys the primary and basic requirement of being a member of the Lord’s Church, that we have seen and learnt about in the last article through Peter’s statement. Because, he is then trusting not on Lord Jesus being his only “Messiah”, his one and only savior and way to God (John 14:6). Instead, he is trusting on the contrived things of the world, devised and implemented by men in the name of the Lord Jesus, and believing that they will save him and take him to God. In other words, he is trusting in some way that is other than the way of Lord Jesus Christ, a way of works, to reach God that is contrary to God’s Word (Ephesians 2:5, 8-9). Whereas, according to the Bible, accepting the Lord Jesus as the “Christ” from God is through repentance from sins and completely surrendering one’s life to Him (Romans 10:9-10); not by family, lineage, works, religion, fulfilling denominational teachings and rituals.

    Take note, when John the Baptist started to prepare the people for the coming of the Lord Jesus, then the first and main subject of his preaching was repentance from sins (Matthew 3:1-2). This was also the subject of the first preaching and ministry of the Lord Jesus (Mark 1:15); as well as part of the last instructions of the Lord to His disciples before His ascension (Luke 24:47). This was also the subject of the preaching by the disciples when they first went out for ministry (Mark 6:12); and was also the subject of Peter’s first sermon to the devout Jews gathered in Jerusalem to fulfil the Law (Acts 2:38), through which the first Church was born. It was also the subject of the ministry of Paul after his conversion (Acts 20:21); and even of the prophets of the Old Testament (Jeremiah 25:4-5). Therefore, when the Lord Jesus put forth the essential requirement of accepting Him as the one and only Savior of the world, to become His called-out people and gathered together in His name, He was not putting forth some new or strange, previously unknown teaching. The Lord was only firmly reiterating and affirming that which was the theme of the ministry of the Old Testament prophets and men of God, of John the Baptist as His forerunner, of the beginning of the Lord’s own ministry, and of the disciple’s ministry; and would be the theme of His other disciples in the days to come.

    There is no teaching given anywhere in the Bible of being saved and becoming a person of the Lord Jesus without repentance from sins and surrendering one’s life to the Lord, and having a changed life (Romans 12:1-2). Every person becomes a person belonging to the Lord Jesus only by personally and willingly repenting of his sins, accepting the work of the Lord Jesus accomplished on the Cross of Calvary for the remission of his sins, and based upon that asking the Lord’s forgiveness for his sins, and fully surrendering one’s life to the Lord. This is irrespective of what family he is born in and whatever “Christian” rituals and ceremonies he may have fulfilled; repentance is mandatory for everyone (Acts 17:30-31). This is what being “Born-Again” implies, i.e., accepting the Lord Jesus as the “Christ,” the one and only God appointed savior of the world. The Church of the Lord Jesus Christ is made up only of those who accept this basic doctrine and obey it as it is; without adding anything to it, or taking anything away from it; without corrupting it in any manner by bringing into it things according to man’s understanding, knowledge, and wisdom; and without adding any extraneous teachings or doctrines to it.

    In the next article we will see how this is not just playing around with words; nor something to be casually passed over as a mere difference of understanding and opinion about some Biblical texts and teachings. Why they are so important, and why they are absolutely essential to accept and obey to become an inheritor of eternal life.

    If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord, make your decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now to ensure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Repenting of your sins, and asking the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily and sincerely, surrendering yourself to Him - is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life.  Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.

इस वाक्याँश में प्रभु यीशु ने पवित्र आत्मा और सँसार के बारे में तीन बातें कही हैं; पहली, सँसार पवित्र आत्मा को ग्रहण नहीं कर सकता है, और फिर प्रभु उसके दो कारण बताता है – क्योंकि वह न तो उसे देखता है, और न ही उसे जानता है। बाइबल में शब्द ‘सँसार’ केवल इस भौतिक जगत के लिए ही उपयोग नहीं किया गया है, जिस में हम तथा अन्य सभी प्राणी रहते हैं। वरन पवित्र शास्त्र में ‘सँसार’ लोगों की एक श्रेणी भी है, उन लोगों की जो अभी तक प्रभु यीशु में विश्वास में आने के द्वारा परमेश्वर की संतान नहीं बने हैं। क्योंकि वे स्वेच्छा से परमेश्वर की सँतान नहीं बने हैं, इसलिये वे अभी तक परमेश्वर के नहीं संसार ही के लोग हैं; चाहे उनके कर्म, जीवन, धर्म, और धार्मिक रीति-रिवाज़ कुछ भी हों, और इसमें इसाई धर्म तथा उसके सभी उप-समुदाय, दल, और डिनौमिनेशन भी सम्मिलित हैं। यह बात यूहन्ना 1:12-13, “परन्तु जितनों ने उसे ग्रहण किया, उसने उन्हें परमेश्वर के सन्तान होने का अधिकार दिया, अर्थात उन्हें जो उसके नाम पर विश्वास रखते हैं। वे न तो लोहू से, न शरीर की इच्छा से, न मनुष्य की इच्छा से, परन्तु परमेश्वर से उत्पन्न हुए हैं”, में बहुत स्पष्ट कही गई है। दूसरे शब्दों में, परमेश्वर की सँतान, उसके परिवार का भाग, परमेश्वर के लोग होने के लिए व्यक्ति को ‘उसे’ ग्रहण करना पड़ता है, ‘उसके’ नाम पर विश्वास करना पड़ता है; जैसा हम इस से पहले और बाद के पदों के सन्दर्भ से देखते हैं, यह ‘उसे’ और ‘उसके’ प्रभु यीशु मसीह के लिए उपयोग हुआ है।

इसलिए, परमेश्वर की सँतान होने के लिए, हर किसी को प्रभु यीशु को ग्रहण करना और उसमें विश्वास करना अनिवार्य है। यह अपने आप में व्यक्तिगत रीति से एक स्वेच्छा से और जानते-बूझते किए हुए निर्णय का तात्पर्य देता है; यह कोई ऐसी बात नहीं है जो विरासत में प्राप्त होती है या किसी परिवार-विशेष में जन्म लेने, और इसलिए उस परिवार के धार्मिक अनुष्ठानों और रीतियों का पालन करने के कारण मिल जाती है। यही बात यहाँ पद 13 में किसी भी तरह के संदेह की संभावना को हटाते हुए, के बिलकुल स्पष्ट कह दी गई है, “...वे न तो लोहू से, न शरीर की इच्छा से, न मनुष्य की इच्छा से, परन्तु परमेश्वर से उत्पन्न हुए हैं।” दूसरे शब्दों में, परमेश्वर की सँतान होने का मानवीय जन्म से कोई संबंध नहीं है। इस विशेषाधिकार को प्राप्त करने के लिए व्यक्ति को परमेश्वर से उत्पन्न होना पड़ेगा। प्रभु यीशु ने इसी बात पर यूहन्ना 3:3, 5 में निकुदेमुस से हुए अपने वार्तालाप में भी बल दिया था। निकुदेमुस फरीसियों का एक बहुत उच्च धर्म-शिक्षा प्राप्त धार्मिक अगुवा था, जो प्रभु के पास परमेश्वर के राज्य में प्रवेश करने के बारे में सीखने के लिए आया था। उस धार्मिक अगुवे से भी, जो पवित्र शास्त्र को भली-भांति जानता था और व्यवस्था का कड़ाई से पालन करता था, प्रभु का यही कहना था कि उसे भी परमेश्वर के राज्य में प्रवेश करने के लिए नया-जन्म लेना ही पड़ेगा, जल और आत्मा से जन्म लेना होगा। अर्थात, परमेश्वर के राज्य में प्रवेश किसी भी प्रकार के धर्म या कर्म के द्वारा संभव नहीं है।

जो स्वेच्छा से प्रभु यीशु को ग्रहण करने और उसके नाम में विश्वास करने के द्वारा नया जन्म प्राप्त करते हैं, उन्हें परमेश्वर यह विशेषाधिकार स्वतः ही प्रदान कर देता है कि वे परमेश्वर की सँतान हों। जिस पल वे विश्वास के द्वारा परमेश्वर की संतान बनते हैं, उसी पल परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा भी उन्हें दे दिया जाता है (इफिसियों 1:13-14), जो उनमें आजीवन रहने के लिए आ जाता है (यूहन्ना 14:16)। तो इस प्रकार से हम देखते हैं कि हमारे पास दो प्रकार के लोगों की श्रेणियाँ हैं – एक वे जो परमेश्वर की सँतान, मसीह के संगी-वारिस हैं (रोमियों 8:17), परमेश्वर के लोग हैं; और उन्हें यह विशेषाधिकार उनके किसी कर्मों, धर्म, परिवार के कारण नहीं मिला है। और दूसरी श्रेणी है सँसार के लोग, अर्थात वे जिन्होंने अभी भी व्यक्तिगत रीति से, यीशु को अपना प्रभु और उद्धारकर्ता ग्रहण नहीं किया है। ये लोग, जिन्होंने सँसार के लोगों के समान रहने का निर्णय किया है, फिर अपने इस चुनाव के कारण, अन्ततः उसी नियति को भोगेंगे जो सँसार की है – अनन्त विनाश।

जिस पद को हम ले कर चल रहे हैं – यूहन्ना 14:17, उस में प्रभु यीशु मसीह ने एक निर्णयात्मक बात कही है, ‘सँसार पवित्र आत्मा को ग्रहण नहीं कर सकता है’ – और पिछले लेखों में हम विस्तार से देख चुके हैं कि पवित्र आत्मा, सत्य का आत्मा, कभी भी किसी भी ऐसी बात के साथ संलग्न नहीं होगा जो बाइबल के अनुसार सत्य नहीं है। क्योंकि सारा सँसार उस दुष्ट के वश में है (1 यूहन्ना 5:19), इसलिए यह असंभव है कि पवित्र आत्मा किसी सँसार के व्यक्ति में निवास करे। पवित्र आत्मा को और उसकी सामर्थ्य को प्राप्त करने के लिए, व्यक्ति को स्वेच्छा से जानते-बूझते हुए सँसार से अलग हो कर परमेश्वर के राज्य में प्रवेश करने का निर्णय लेना होगा, जैसा कि अगले परिच्छेद में समझाया गया है। अगले लेख में हम यूहन्ना 14:17 के इस दूसरे वाक्याँश का अध्ययन ज़ारी रखेंगे, इसके बारे में और आगे देखेंगे।

Holy Spirit & The World – 1

 

The Born-Again Christian Believers are the stewards of their God given provisions; given to them for living a life of witnessing for the Lord and for fulfilling the ministry entrusted to them by God. As the Lord Jesus has promised to His disciples, God has also given to them His Holy Spirit, to be their Helper, Teacher, and Guide, to teach and guide them in fulfilling their responsibilities. To be able to properly utilize the power of the Holy Spirit made available to them, the Believers must learn about the Holy Spirit, instead of taking Him for granted, saying and doing whatever suits their fancy about Him. The Lord Jesus taught about the Holy Spirit to the disciples, and we find the Lord’s teachings about this mainly in John’s gospel, chapters 14 to 16. It is from these chapters that we have been learning about the Believer being a steward of the Holy Spirit. For some time now, we have been looking at John 14:17, where the Lord Jesus has stated three things about the Holy Spirit. Of these three, we have considered the first one, that the Holy Spirit is the Spirit of Truth, and seen the various implications and practical applications of this statement. We will now look into the second thing mentioned by the Lord Jesus in this verse, about the Holy Spirit and the world, “…whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him…”.

The Lord Jesus has said three things about the Holy Spirit and the world in this phrase; one, the world is unable to receive the Holy Spirit, and then He gives two reasons for it – because it neither sees Him, nor knows Him. In the Bible, the term ‘world’ is not only used for the physical world that we and all creatures live in. But ‘world’ is also used in the Scriptures for the category of people who, are not yet a part of the family of God, because they have not become the children of God by coming to faith in the Lord Jesus. Since they have not voluntarily become the children of God, therefore they are still the people of the world, and not of God; no matter what their works, life, religion and religious practices may be, the Christian ‘religion’ and all its sects, groups, and denominations included. This has been made very clear in John 1:12-13, “But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.” In other words, to be a child of God, a part of God’s family and people, one has to receive ‘Him’, to believe in ‘Him’; the ‘Him’, as we see from the context in the preceding and succeeding verses, is the Lord Jesus Christ.

 

So, to be a child of God, everyone has to receive the Lord Jesus and believe in Him. This by itself implies a conscious, voluntary decision made by everyone individually; it is not something that is inherited or passed along by virtue of birth in a particular family, and therefore by observing certain religious rites and rituals practiced by that family. This has also been made unambiguous and very clear in verse 13, “…who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.” In other words, human birth has nothing to do with being a child of God. To attain this privilege, one has to be born of God. The Lord Jesus emphasized this in John 3:3, 5, to Nicodemus, the highly learned religious leader of the Pharisees. Nicodemus had come to the Lord to learn from Him about entering the Kingdom of God, and the Lord’s answer even to that religious person, well versed in the Scriptures and strictly following the Law was that even he had to be Born-Again, of the water and the Spirit, to enter the God’s Kingdom, i.e., entering God’s Kingdom cannot be done through any works or religion.

Those who voluntarily are Born-Again by receiving the Lord Jesus and believing in His name, to them God automatically gives the right, the privilege to become the children of God. The moment they become the children of God through faith, God the Holy Spirit is also given to them (Ephesians 1:13-14), to reside in them throughout their lives (John 14:16). So, we see that we have two categories of people – those who are the children of God, the co-heirs with the Lord Jesus (Romans 8:17), the people of God; and they have received this privilege not because of any works, religion, or family; and the world. And the second category is of those who have not yet personally and individually come to accept Jesus as their Lord and savior. These people belonging to the second category, who have chosen to live according to and along with the world, will then also, as per their own choice, suffer the fate of the world – eternal destruction.

In our lead verse – John 14:17, the Lord Jesus has made a categorical statement, ‘the world cannot receive the Holy Spirit’ – and in the preceding articles, we have seen in detail that the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of Truth, will never in any manner be associated with anything that is not the Biblical truth. Since the whole world is under the influence of the evil one (1 John 5:19), therefore, it is impossible for the Spirit of Truth, God the Holy Spirit to be present in a person of the world. To receive the Holy Spirit and His power, one has to take the conscious voluntary decision to step away from the world, into the Kingdom of God, as is explained in the next paragraph. In the next article we will continue to look further into this second phrase of John 14:17.

If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord, make your decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now to ensure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Repenting of your sins, and asking the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily and sincerely, surrendering yourself to Him - is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life.  Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.

परमेश्वर के वचन का भण्डारी होने की ज़िम्मेदारी के निर्वाह में चूक करवाने के लिए शैतान ने मसीही विश्वासियों के विरुद्ध जो युक्तियाँ बनाई हैं, पिछले कुछ लेखों में हमने उन में से तीन को देखा है। ये तीन थीं: पहली, लोगों को इस लालच में डालकर बहकाना कि यदि वे उसके कहे के अनुसार करेंगे तो बहुत लाभ पाएँगे, किन्तु वास्तविक दुष्परिणामों से अनभिज्ञ रखना; दूसरी, परमेश्वर के प्रतिबद्ध लोगों, कलीसिया के प्रमुख लोगों तथा अगुवों, बाइबल के प्रचारकों तथा शिक्षकों आदि को भरमा कर उनसे बाइबल के लेखों को, उनकी अपनी समझ के अनुसार, बाइबल में दिये गये अर्थों और अभिप्रायों से भिन्न, या विपरीत अर्थों और अभिप्रायों के साथ दुरुपयोग करवाना; और तीसरा, मनुष्य की इस प्रवृत्ति का कि जो आकर्षक और रोचक दिखता है, तर्कपूर्ण होता है उसको स्वीकार करना और उसका पालन करना, परमेश्वर के निर्देशों के अनुसार नहीं बल्कि अपनी ही समझ और बुद्धि के अनुसार कार्य करना; इनके द्वारा शैतान विश्वासियों से भी परमेश्वर की अनाज्ञाकारिता करवाता रहता है।

 

हमने एक चौथी बात भी देखी थी जो हर तरह के ईसाइयों या मसीहियों में सामान्यतः और सार्वजनिक रीति से पाई जाती है, एक बहुत हानिकारक आदत जो शैतान के लिए अपनी न केवल उपरोक्त तीनों युक्तियों को, वरन उसकी अन्य हर एक युक्ति को भी, सफलता से लागू करने में बहुत सहायक रहती है। यह हानिकारक आदत है परमेश्वर के वचन बाइबल से दूर रहना, या फिर बहुत हुआ तो थोड़ा सा समय निकालकर या तो उसे हलके में बस यूं ही पढ़ अथवा सुन लेना, या फिर लापरवाही से अथवा एक औपचारिकता निभाने के लिए यह करना। जबकि लोगों का मुख्य समय और उद्यम सँसार की बातों और कार्यों के लिए होता है, उन बातों के लिए जो अन्ततः नष्ट होने ही वाली हैं। और इसीलिए लोग तथा विश्वासी शैतान की युक्तियों में सरलता से फंसते और गिरते रहते हैं, शैतान को उन्हें बहका कर हानि और नाश में ले जाने में कोई दिक्कत नहीं होती है (यशायाह 5:13; होशे 4:6)। बहुत ही कम ऐसे मसीही होते हैं जो अपने जीवनों में परमेश्वर के वचन को उसकी उचित प्राथमिकता, प्रधानता, और आज्ञाकारिता देते हैं।

मसीहियत में, शैतान ने उपरोक्त तीनों युक्तियों का बहुत सफल उपयोग किया है, और करता चला आ रहा है। ऐसा इसलिए है क्योंकि अधिकांश मसीहियों में न तो यह क्षमता है, और न ही यह परवाह है कि उन्हें जो सुनाया और सिखाया जाता है उसमें सत्य और असत्य में भिन्नता को कर सकें या पहचान सकें। परमेश्वर के वचन का दुरुपयोग, अर्थात्, शैतान बाइबल के लेखों का ही, बाइबल के विपरीत उपयोग, बहुत चतुराई और चालाकी से करवाता है। वह बड़े चुपके से, लोगों को इस बात का एहसास भी न होने देते हुए कि उन्हें गलती के लिए उपयोग किया जा रहा है, परमेश्वर के प्रतिबद्ध लोगों, कलीसिया के प्रमुख लोगों तथा अगुवों, बाइबल के प्रचारकों तथा शिक्षकों आदि को भरमा कर उनसे बाइबल के लेखों को, बाइबल में ही दिये गये उनके अर्थों और अभिप्रायों से असंगत या विपरीत अर्थों और अभिप्रायों के साथ प्रस्तुत करवाता है। आइए देखते हैं कि शैतान किस तरह से परमेश्वर के इन भक्त लोगों को ही परमेश्वर के लोगों को उनके उद्धार के बारे में बहकाने और भरमाने, तथा उद्धार के जीवन को जीने के लिए उन्हें परमेश्वर के अनुग्रह पर भरोसा रखने की बजाए उनके अपने ही कर्मों पर भरोसा रखने के व्यर्थ जाल में फँसा लेता है।

मसीहियों में परमेश्वर की दृष्टि में सही होने, परमेश्वर को स्वीकार्य होने, और इस पार्थिव जीवन की समाप्ति पर परमेश्वर के साथ स्वर्ग में होने के बारे में दो बहुत प्रचलित, और सामान्य किन्तु बहुत गलत धारणाएँ व्याप्त हैं। एक है कि यह भले होने तथा भले काम करने के द्वारा किया जा सकता है; और दूसरी है कि यदि व्यक्ति भले होने तथा भले काम करने के द्वारा धार्मिकता की जीवन-शैली बनाकर नहीं रखे, तो वह अपने इस विशेषाधिकार को, जो उसने प्राप्त किया है, खो देगा। यह बहुत दुर्भाग्य की बात है कि इन दोनों गलत, बाइबल के विपरीत धारणाओं की कलीसिया, मण्डली, तथा मसीहियों में उपस्थिति होने, उनके बने रहने, प्रसार होते रहने में, अनजाने में अथवा जान बूझकर, परमेश्वर के प्रतिबद्ध लोगों, कलीसिया के प्रमुख लोगों तथा अगुवों, बाइबल के प्रचारकों तथा शिक्षकों आदि का बहुत प्रमुख और महत्वपूर्ण योगदान है। इसे लागू करने की शैतान की युक्ति को समझने के लिए, हम पहले बहुत संक्षेप में, यह देख और समझ लेते हैं कि बचाए जाने, नया-जन्म या उद्धार पाने, मसीही विश्वासी होने का क्या अर्थ और अभिप्राय है। यह अपने आप में एक सम्पूर्ण विषय है, लेकिन बहुत संक्षेप में, इस से संबंधित प्रासंगिक बाइबल की शिक्षाएँ हैं:

• वास्तव में प्रभु यीशु का शिष्य ही एक सच्चा मसीही होता है (मत्ती 28:19-20; प्रेरितों 11:26)।

• बाइबल के अनुसार मसीहियत न तो कभी कोई धर्म थी, और न है, बल्कि यह हमेशा से ही प्रभु यीशु मसीह में विश्वास का जीवन जीना, उसे अपना जीवन समर्पण करना, और उस ही का अनुसरण करना रही है। जो प्रभु यीशु का अनुसरण करते थे, मसीहियत के आरम्भ में, उन्हें “पन्थ / मार्ग के लोग” कहा जाता था (प्रेरितों 9:2; 19:23; 22:4; 24:14, 22)।

• मसीही विश्वास कभी भी वंशागत नहीं होता है; कभी भी, कोई भी, स्वाभाविक जन्म से “मसीही” नहीं होता है। हर किसी को, उन्हें भी जो बहुत धार्मिक हैं तथा पवित्र शास्त्र के बहुत ज्ञाता हैं, जैसे कि निकुदेमुस, को भी परमेश्वर का राज्य देखने और उस में प्रवेश करने के लिए नया जन्म प्राप्त करना अनिवार्य है (यूहन्ना 3:3, 5, 7)। बाइबल के अनुसार यह और किसी भी तरीके से संभव नहीं है; किन्हीं रीतियों, परम्पराओं, नियमों, या पर्वों को मानने अथवा मनाने से भी नहीं। नया जन्म पाने के अतिरिक्त परमेश्वर के राज्य में प्रवेश के लिए और कोई मार्ग नहीं है।

• यह नया जन्म प्राप्त करना केवल विश्वास ही के द्वारा है न कि किसी प्रकार के कर्मों के द्वारा। यह केवल पापों के पश्चाताप करने और प्रभु यीशु मसीह पर विश्वास करने से परमेश्वर के अनुग्रह के द्वारा होता है, कर्मों से नहीं (रोमियों 10:8-10; इफिसियों 2:5, 8-9)।

• कलीसिया ऐसे लोगों का एक समूह है “जो मसीह यीशु में पवित्र किए गए, और पवित्र होने के लिये बुलाए गए हैं; और उन सब के नाम भी जो हर जगह हमारे और अपने प्रभु यीशु मसीह के नाम की प्रार्थना करते हैं” (1 कुरिन्थियों 1:2)। अर्थात्, कलीसिया कोई डिनॉमिनेशन, या मत नहीं है, और न ही ऐसे लोगों का समूह है जो कुछ नियमों, रीतियों, और परंपराओं का निर्वाह करते हैं; बल्कि उन लोगों का जो प्रभु यीशु मसीह के प्रति पूर्णतः समर्पित और प्रतिबद्ध हैं।

• यह वास्तविक और बाइबल के अनुरूप कलीसिया एक ही है, सार्वभौमिक है, सारे सँसार भर और अपने इतिहास में एकमात्र है, और इसे ही ‘प्रभु की देह’ तथा ‘प्रभु की दुल्हन’ कहा गया है (1 कुरिन्थियों 12:12, 27; इफिसियों 5:23, 29-30)। प्रत्येक नया जन्म पाया हुआ विश्वासी व्यक्तिगत रीति प्रभु की इसी देह का एक सदस्य है।

• केवल यही एकमात्र, सार्वभौमिक, विश्वव्यापी कलीसिया ही सँसार से स्वर्ग को उठाई जाएगी, अनंतकाल के लिए प्रभु परमेश्वर यीशु मसीह के साथ रहने के लिए। इसीलिए, हर एक के लिए जो बात सबसे महत्वपूर्ण है, वह है कि क्या वह इस वास्तविक कलीसिया का सदस्य है अथवा नहीं? इससे कोई फर्क नहीं पड़ता है कि कौन व्यक्ति किस डिनॉमिनेशन या मत का सदस्य है, कितनी पीढ़ियों से है, और कितने समय से है। महत्व केवल इस बात का है कि क्या आप ने नया जन्म पाया है और प्रभु की इस देह, इस दुल्हन, इस विश्वव्यापी कलीसिया के सदस्य बन गए हैं या नहीं!

 

शैतान बाइबल के इन तथ्यों का किस प्रकार से परमेश्वर के प्रतिबद्ध लोगों, कलीसिया के प्रमुख लोगों तथा अगुवों, बाइबल के प्रचारकों तथा शिक्षकों आदि के द्वारा गलत व्याख्या करवाता है, उनका दुरुपयोग करता है, ताकि लोग परमेश्वर के सच्चे और खरे भरमाए और भटकाए जा सकें, इसे हम अगले लेख में देखेंगे।

   

यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। स्वेच्छा से अपने पापों के लिये पश्चाताप करके, प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु, मैं अपने पापों के लिए पश्चातापी हूँ, उनके लिए आप से क्षमा माँगता हूँ। मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मुझे और मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

In considering the strategies of Satan to make a Christian Believer falter in his stewardship towards God’s Word the Bible, in the previous article, we had seen about three of the various strategies that Satan has devised against the Christian Believers. These three were: first, enticing people through promising them great benefits by doing what he says, but hiding the actual harmful consequences; second, induce God’s committed Believers, Church leaders and elders, Bible preachers and teachers, etc., into misusing the Bible texts by giving them unBiblical meanings and implications, according to their own understanding; and third, Satan takes help of the human tendency of falling for something that seems appealing and logical; and makes Believers disobey God, by making them trust more on their own thinking and logic, than on obeying God’s instructions.

We had also seen a fourth thing, a very strong habit that is universally and uniformly rampant amongst all varieties of Christians. This habit helps Satan immensely in implementing not only these three, but all of his other strategies as well. This pernicious habit very commonly seen amongst Christians is of either staying away from God’s Word the Bible, or at the most giving it only a little time of a casual reading or merely listening, perfunctorily, or as a formality. While people’s main priority for their time and efforts are the things and works of the world, that will soon perish anyway; and therefore, they remain gullible to Satan’s ploys. Therefore, it is not surprising at all that Satan can so easily misguide and mislead most Christians into loss and destruction (Isaiah 5:13; Hosea 4:6). Rare are the Christians who give God’s Word its due priority, prominence, and obedience in their lives.

In Christendom, Satan has very successfully employed the three above-mentioned strategies, and continues to do so. This is because most Christians have neither the ability, nor the care or concern to discern the truth from the untruths in what is preached and taught to them. Satan very cleverly and subtly misuses God’s committed Believers, Church leaders and elders, Bible preachers and teachers, etc. to preach and teach God’s Word, i.e., by using the Biblical texts and facts, in a Biblically unintended manner, in a wrong and extra-Biblical way, without their even realizing they are being misused by Satan for his purposes. Let us see how he gets these godly people to misguide God’s people about their salvation, and thereby entangle them in vain efforts of relying upon their works rather than God’s grace regarding living their life of salvation.

There are two very common but very wrong notions amongst the Christians regarding being right with God, being acceptable to God, and being qualified to be in heaven with God after one’s temporal life on earth comes to an end. One is that this can be achieved by being good and doing good works; the second is that if a person does not maintain a righteous life through being good and doing good, he will lose this privilege, this special status that he has attained. Very unfortunately, for the presence, continuation, and propagation of these false, unBiblical notions in the Churches or Assemblies, knowingly or unknowingly, God’s committed Believers, Church leaders and elders, Bible preachers and teachers, etc. have a major role to play. To understand Satan’s manipulation in implementing this, let us first understand, very briefly, what it means and implies to be saved, or Born-Again, or have salvation, and be a Christian Believer. This is an entire subject in itself, but, in short, the relevant Biblical teachings are that:

• Only a true disciple of Christ is truly a Christian (Matthew 28:19-20; Acts 11:26).

• Biblical Christianity never was and never has been a religion; rather it always has been a way of life of Faith the Lord Jesus, of surrendering one’s life to Him, and following Him. Those who followed the Lord Jesus, at the beginning of Christianity, were known as ‘people of the Way’ (Acts 9:2; 19:23; 22:4; 24:14, 22).

• The Christian Faith is never inherited; No one is ever born a ‘Christian’, by natural birth. Everyone, including the most religious and those most knowledgeable about the Scriptures, e.g., Nicodemus, must be Born-Again to be able to see and enter into the Kingdom of God (John 3:3, 5, 7). According to the Bible, nothing else, no observance or fulfilment of any rituals, traditions, rules, or festivals, nothing other than being Born-Again will ever qualify anyone to be in the Kingdom of God.

• This, being Born-Again is by faith and not by any works of any kind. It is only by the grace of God through repentance of sins and coming to faith in the Lord Jesus Christ (Romans 10:8-10; Ephesians 2:5, 8-9).

• The Church is the collective group of “those who are sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints, with all who in every place call on the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, both theirs and ours” (1 Corinthians 1:2); i.e., the Church is not any particular denomination, or sect, nor those who fulfil certain rules, rituals and traditions, but those who are completely committed and surrendered to the Lord Jesus.

• This true and Biblical Church is one, is universal, is the same all over the world and all throughout its history, and has been called the ‘body of Christ’ and the ‘Bride of Christ’ (1 Corinthians 12:12, 27; Ephesians 5:23, 29-30). Every Born-Again Christian Believer is individually a member of this Body of Christ.

• It is only this one universal Church, this Body and Bride of Christ which will be delivered from the world and taken up into heaven, to eternally be with the Lord God Jesus Christ. Therefore, for everyone, what matters is not whether they are members of any particular denomination or sect, nor for how many generations and for how long they have been the members, but whether or not they have been Born-Again and become a member of this actual Church, this Body, this Bride of Christ.

 

How Satan misinterprets and misuses these Biblical facts to misguide people through God’s committed Believers, Church leaders and elders, Bible preachers and teachers, etc. we will see in the next article.

You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life.  Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.
