पिछले तीन लेखों से हम यूहन्ना 15:1-6, विशेषकर 15:2, को देखते आ रहे हैं, यह जानने के लिए कि क्या यह खण्ड और पद इस बात का प्रमाण है कि उद्धार खोया जा सकता है और पाप करने वाला मसीही विश्वासी विनाश के लिए “काट डाला” जा सकता है कि नहीं, जैसा कि कुछ लोग इस पद 2 के आधार पर धारणा देते हैं। पहले लेख में हमने बाइबल के अध्ययन और व्याख्या के कुछ मूलभूत सिद्धान्तों को देखा था, जिनके आधार पर हम गलत व्याख्या से बच सकते हैं और गलत व्याख्याओं को पहचान भी सकते हैं। दूसरे लेख में हमने बाइबल अध्ययन और व्याख्या के इन सिद्धांतों में से सबसे महत्वपूर्ण, पद या खण्ड को उसके सन्दर्भ के साथ देखने और उसी के साथ व्याख्या करने के सिद्धान्त को इस खण्ड, यूहन्ना 15:1-6 पर लागू कर के उसे समझा था। सन्दर्भ के साथ देखने से यह प्रकट हो गया था कि यहाँ पर पद 2 का तात्पर्य यह नहीं हो सकता है कि उद्धार खोया जा सकता है और विश्वासी को विनाश के लिए काट डाला जा सकता है। इस खण्ड के तीसरे लेख में हमने बाइबल अध्ययन और व्याख्या के एक और सिद्धांत को लागू कर के, कि बाइबल कभी भी अपने आप को काट नहीं सकती है, बाइबल में कोई विरोधाभास नहीं है, और न हो सकता है, इस खण्ड और पद का अध्ययन किया था। और हमने देखा कि जब हम यूहन्ना 15:2 को बाइबल के अन्य पदों और खण्डों के साथ देखते हैं तो प्रकट हो जाता है कि यदि यूहन्ना 15:2 के आधार पर यह कहा जाए कि उद्धार जा सकता है, विश्वासी का नाश हो सकता है, तो फिर यह बाइबल में विरोधाभास ले आता है, इसलिए यह इस खण्ड और पद की अस्वीकार्य व्याख्या है। आज हम बाइबल अध्ययन के एक अन्य सिद्धान्त, मूल भाषा में शब्द के अर्थ, और उस शब्द के अन्य स्थानों, बाइबल तथा बाइबल के बाहर के प्रयोग के द्वारा समझते हैं कि उसे उस पद और वाक्य में किस अभिप्राय से प्रयोग किया गया है।
4. शब्द का उसकी मूल भाषा में अर्थ और प्रयोग:
यूहन्ना 15:2 में मूल यूनानी भाषा के शब्द “Airo (अ-ई-रो)” का हिन्दी भाषा में अनुवाद वाक्यांश “काट डालता है” किया गया है। यूनानी भाषा के इस शब्द का शब्दार्थ होता है “उठा लेना” जिसे विभिन्न अभिप्रायों के साथ प्रयोग किया जाता है, जैसे कि, उठा कर रखना, हटा देना, ऊपर उठाना, आदि। वास्तविक अर्थ प्रयोग के वाक्य का संदर्भ और उद्देश्य निर्धारित करता है।
हम कुछ बाइबल के बाहर के व्यवहारिक जीवन के उदाहरणों से समझते हैं कि “airo” के भिन्न अभिप्राय क्या हो सकते हैं, और क्यों किसी एक अर्थ या अभिप्राय को केवल एकमात्र और सही अर्थ या अभिप्राय नहीं कहा जा सकता है:
कूड़े के लिए कहा जाए “उठा लेना” – तो अर्थ होगा उठाकर फेंक देना।
घर में बिखरे हुए घर के सामान के लिए कहें “उठा लेना” – तो अर्थ होगा, संभाल कर स्थान पर रख देना; न कि फेंक देना।
ढीली पड़ी हुई और झूलती हुई कपड़े सुखाने की रस्सी के लिए कहा जाए “उठा लेना” – तो अर्थ होगा कि उसे तान कर सही और व्यवस्थित कर देना जिससे कपड़े उस पर डालकर सुखाए जा सकें।
स्कूल गए हुए बच्चों के लिए कहा जा कि बच्चों को स्कूल से “उठा लेना” – तो अर्थ होगा उन्हें स्कूल से लेकर सुरक्षित घर ले आना।
प्रत्येक स्थिति में वही वाक्यांश “उठा लेना” प्रयोग किया गया है, किन्तु उसका उपयुक्त अर्थ या अभिप्राय, वाक्य का संदर्भ और उद्देश्य निर्धारित करता है। अगले लेख में हम परमेश्वर के वचन बाइबल से देखेंगे कि शब्द “airo” को विभिन्न अर्थ और अभिप्रायों के साथ किस प्रकार से प्रयोग किया गया है।
यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु, मैं अपने पापों के लिए पश्चातापी हूँ, उनके लिए आप से क्षमा माँगता हूँ। मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मुझे और मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

In the past three articles we have been considering John 15:1-6, particularly 15:2, to see whether it is a proof that salvation can be lost and the errant Believer can be cast away or destroyed or not, as some people allege on the basis of this verse 2. In the first article we had seen some basic principles of Bible study and interpretation, that help us in avoiding as well as identifying wrong interpretations and meanings. In the second article, we had applied the most important of these principles of studying the verse or passage in its context to this passage, i.e., John 15:1-6. By studying it in its context it had become apparent that this passage and its verse 2 cannot mean that salvation can be lost and a Believer can be cast away into destruction. In the third article on this passage, we had applied another principle of Bible study and interpretation to this passage and verse 2, - that the Bible does not contradict itself, and we had seen how interpreting John 15:2 to mean salvation can be lost, brings a contradiction with other Bible passages and verses, and therefore becomes an unacceptable interpretation of the passage and verse. Today, we will apply another principle to this passage, that of seeing and understanding the meaning of the words in their original language, and how they have been used to convey various meanings, in and outside the Bible.
4. The Meanings and Application of the word in its original language:
In John 15:2 the word translated “takes away” in the English language, is “Airo” in the original Greek language; and its literal meaning is to “lift up”, and it is used to convey various meanings, e.g., to pick up, to take away, to raise, etc. The exact meaning to be used is determined by the context of the sentence in which it is being used.
Let us look at some real life extra-Biblical situations to see how the context determines the proper meaning of the word “airo” translated as “lift off” or “take away”, and that any one particular meaning cannot be dogmatically stated as the one and only correct meaning of the word:
If said for a garbage pile, the meaning will be pick it up and throw it away to some other appropriate place.
If said for household things scattered in the house, the meaning will be to pick the things up and put them in their appropriate places; not throw them out of the house.
If said for a clothes line hanging loose, the meaning will be to tighten it up and make it taut i.e., useful for clothes to be hung on it; not to remove the clothes line altogether.
If said for children in school, the meaning will be to pick them up and bring them home safely, not to take them and cast them away.
In every situation, the same phrase “lift up” or “take away” can be used, but the context of the usage determines the correct meaning to be applied to that usage. In the next article, we will look at some examples from God’s Word, the Bible about the usage of the word “airo” with different meanings.

Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Repenting of your sins, and asking the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily and sincerely, surrendering yourself to Him - is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life. Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.
