परमेश्वर के वचन की आज्ञाकारिता – 2

 

पिछले लेख से हमने दाऊद द्वारा सुलैमान को दिए गए तीसरे निर्देश – “जितनी बातें परमेश्वर के वचन में लिखी हैं, वह उनका आज्ञाकारी बना रहे” (1 राजाओं 2:3b), और जो आज भी सभी मसीहियों पर समान रीति से लागू है, पर विचार करना आरंभ किया है। पिछले लेख में हमने देखा है कि परमेश्वर के वचन की अनाज्ञाकारिता के कारण ही पाप को सँसार तथा सृष्टि में प्रवेश करने का अवसर मिला। परमेश्वर के वचन की अनाज्ञाकारिता हमेशा ही लोगों तथा परमेश्वर की सन्तानों के लिए गंभीर समस्याएं उत्पन्न करती रही है, उन पर परमेश्वर के दण्ड, क्रोध, और घोर ताड़ना को लाती रही है। परमेश्वर अपने अनाज्ञाकारी लोगों को, जो उसे छोड़ कर सँसार और उसके सुखों के पीछे हो लेते हैं, न तो कभी छोड़ देता है और न ही उनका तिरस्कार करता है। उसने इस्राएल को नहीं छोड़ा, इस्राएल ने जो प्रभु यीशु और उसके अनुयायियों के साथ किया, उसके बावजूद भी; परंतु न तो उसने उनकी अनाज्ञाकारिता को हल्के में लिया और न ही उसकी अनदेखी की। जो भी परमेश्वर के अनाज्ञाकारिता करता है, उसे इसका परिणाम भुगतना पड़ेगा और कीमत चुकानी होगी; और यह उनकी अनन्तकाल की आशीषों और प्रतिफलों को भी नष्ट करता है। ऐसे बहुतेरे मसीही विश्वासी होंगे जो स्वर्ग में छूछे हाथ प्रवेश करेंगे (1 कुरिन्थियों 3:13-15), और अनन्तकाल तक खाली हाथ ही रहेंगे। क्योंकि उन्होंने अपने मसीही जीवन वैसे व्यतीत नहीं किए जो परमेश्वर को प्रसन्न करे, उन पर उसकी आशीष लाए, और उन्हें अनन्तकालीन प्रतिफलों को प्रदान करे।

एक अन्य बात जिसे हमें समझना अनिवार्य है, वह है कि परमेश्वर के वचन की आज्ञाकारिता का अर्थ होता है परमेश्वर ने अपने वचन में जो और जैसा लिखवाया है, उसका वैसे ही पालन करना, उसी के अनुसार करना। इसका यह अर्थ कदापि नहीं है, और न ही किसी मनुष्य को अनुमति है, कि वह परमेश्वर के वचन में कोई परिवर्तन, कोई जोड़-तोड़ करे, और फिर उस बदले हुए वचन को परमेश्वर के लोगों के समक्ष, परमेश्वर का खरा वचन कह कर प्रस्तुत करे। प्रभु यीशु के सम्पूर्ण ‘पहाड़ी उपदेश’ में, अर्थात मत्ती रचित सुसमाचार के 5-7 अध्यायों में, हम देखते हैं कि प्रभु यीशु कई दफा, ‘तुमने सुना है,’ या, ‘तुम से कहा गया है,’ या इसी अभिप्राय का कोई वाक्यांश कहते हैं; और फिर, यह कहते हुए कि ‘लेकिन मैं तुम से कहता हूँ,’ वो उसका सुधारा हुआ स्वरूप बताते हैं। अर्थात जीवित वचन जिसने देहधारी होकर हमारे मध्य में डेरा किया (यूहन्ना 1:14), उन्हें सिखा रहा था कि वास्तविक निर्देश क्या था, बजाय उसके जो भ्रष्ट कर के उन्हें सिखाया गया और जिसका पालन करवाया जा रहा था। उस समय के धार्मिक अगुवों ने परमेश्वर के वचन की गलत व्याख्या करके उसका दुरुपयोग इस उद्देश्य से किया था कि वह उनके लिए सहज एवं लाभकारी हो। वे जन-सामान्य को इस भ्रष्ट किए हुए वचन को परमेश्वर का वचन कहकर बताते और सिखाते थे, और उसी का पालन करने के लिए कहते थे। मत्ती 15:1-9 में हम देखते हैं कि प्रभु यीशु शास्त्रियों और फरीसियों को फटकार लगाई, उनके द्वारा अपनी ही रीतियाँ बनाकर और मनुष्यों की बनाई हुए आज्ञाओं को परमेश्वर का वचन कह कर सिखाने के लिए उनकी भर्त्सना की। उस समय लोग सामान्यतः अनपढ़ होते थे, और परमेश्वर के वचन की प्रतियां भी पढ़ने और सीखने के लिए सरलता से उपलब्ध नहीं थीं; इसीलिए लोग मजबूर थे कि धार्मिक अगुवों के द्वारा उन्हें जो भी बताया और सिखाया जाए, उसी को स्वीकार कर लें, और उसे का पालन करें।

आज भी लगभग यही स्थिति विद्यमान है, यद्यपि परमेश्वर का वचन अनेकों भाषाओं और विभिन्न स्वरूपों – लिखित और डिजिटल रूप में; साथ ही बाइबल के अध्ययन की सामग्री भी बहुतायत से और सरलता से उपलब्ध है। और प्रभु परमेश्वर ने अपना वचन सिखाने के लिए प्रत्येक मसीही विश्वासी को अपना पवित्र आत्मा भी प्रदान कर रखा है – जैसे हम वचन के भण्डारी होने से संबंधित लेखों में विस्तार से देख चुके हैं। किन्तु फिर भी अधिकाँश “मसीही” अपने धार्मिक अगुवों पर ही भरोसा करते हैं, उन्हीं की कही हुई को सुनते और मानते हैं, डिनॉमिनेशन या मत के अगुवे जो कहते और करवाते हैं लोग परमेश्वर के वास्तविक वचन की बजाए उस कहे हुए का ही पालन करते हैं। यह तथ्य कि विभिन्न डिनॉमिनेशनों और मतों के सिद्धांतों और रीतियों में परस्पर बहुत अन्तर पाए जाते हैं इस बात का प्रमाण है कि मनुष्यों के बनाए हुए ये नियम और रिवाज़, ये सिद्धान्त और रीतियाँ, परमेश्वर का वास्तविक वचन नहीं हैं। जैसा कि प्रभु यीशु की पृथ्वी के सेवकाई के दिनों में फरीसी, शास्त्री, और अन्य धार्मिक अगुवे कर रहे थे, आज ये डिनॉमिनेशनों और मतों के धार्मिक अगुवे भी परमेश्वर के वचन की गलत व्याख्या और दुरुपयोग कर रहे हैं। उसे अपने लिए सहज और लाभकारी बनाकर उस बदले हुए तथा भ्रष्ट किए हुए वचन को परमेश्वर का सच्चा और खरा वचन बताकर सिखा रहे हैं, जो कि वह कदापि नहीं है। इसीलिए, प्रभु यीशु ने जो उस समय फरीसियों से कहा था, वही आज भी वैसे ही, इन लोगों पर भी लागू होता है – “और ये व्यर्थ मेरी उपासना करते हैं, क्योंकि मनुष्यों की विधियों को धर्मोपदेश कर के सिखाते हैं” (मत्ती 15:9)। अर्थात, इन गढ़ी हुई और भ्रष्ट धारणाओं और रीतियों के अनुसार की जाने वाली समस्त आराधना और भक्ति “व्यर्थ आराधना” है, निष्फल और निरर्थक है। जो लोग यह करवाते और करते हैं उन्हें इससे कोई स्वर्गीय आशीष, कोई अनन्तकालीन लाभ नहीं मिलता है, वे चाहे कितनी ही ईमानदारी और श्रद्धा से इसका निर्वाह क्यों न करें।

मसीहियों के लिए परमेश्वर के निर्देश “निर्मल आत्मिक दूध” (1 पतरस 2:2) की लालसा रखने के हैं, न परमेश्वर के वचन के नाम पर बदला हुआ, भ्रष्ट किया हुआ, जो कुछ भी सिखाया और करवाया जाए उसी में बने रहने के। जैसा हमने मसीही विश्वासी के परमेश्वर के वचन का भण्डारी होने से संबंधित लेखों में देखा है, कलीसियाओं की बढ़ोतरी और विश्वासियों की आत्मिक उन्नति के लिए आवश्यक बातों में परमेश्वर का परिशुद्ध, बिना भ्रष्ट किया गया वचन देना, सिखाना एवं सीखना, और उसी का पालन करना, एक बहुत महत्वपूर्ण स्थान रखते हैं। परिशुद्ध वचन से ही कलीसिया बढ़ती और विश्वासियों की आत्मिक उन्नति होती है, किसी अन्य से नहीं। परमेश्वर की आशीषें और प्रभु के साथ संगति केवल उसके खरे वचन के मानने वालों के साथ ही हैं (यूहन्ना 14:21, 23; यशायाह 40:31; 2 तीमुथियुस 3:15-17)।

अगले लेख में दाऊद के द्वारा सुलैमान को दिए गए चौथे निर्देश “सावधान रहे, और हमेशा प्रभु के प्रति समर्पित बना रहे (1 राजाओं 2:4b)” पर विचार करना आरम्भ करेंगे।

यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। स्वेच्छा से अपने पापों के लिये पश्चाताप करके प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु, मैं अपने पापों के लिए पश्चातापी हूँ, उनके लिए आप से क्षमा माँगता हूँ। मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मुझे और मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

Always Obedient to God’s Word

Obedience to God’s Word – 2

 

Since the last article, we have begun to consider the third instruction that David gave to Solomon – “To be obedient to the Word of God, in all things written in it” (1Ki 2:3b); and even today it remains applicable to all the Christians. In the previous article we have seen that disobedience to God’s Word caused sin to enter into creation and the world. Disobedience to God’s Word has always caused serious problems for the people and children of God; even inviting God’s retribution, wrath, and severe chastisement upon them. God does not abandon or reject His disobedient people who leave Him and go follow the world and its pleasures. He has not rejected Israel, despite what Israel has done to the Lord Jesus and to those following Him; but neither does He condone their disobedience nor takes it lightly. Anyone who disobeys God, will have to suffer for it and pay a price; This even harms their eternal blessings and rewards. There will be many Christian Believers who will enter heaven empty handed (1 Corinthians 3:13-15), and remain so for eternity. Because they failed to live their Christian lives in a manner that would please God, bring His blessings upon them, and cause them to receive eternal rewards.

Another thing we need to understand is that obeying God’s Word means obeying and doing according to what God has written in His Word, just as He has asked it to be done. It in no way means, or, permits man’s modifications and alterations of God’s Word, and then to present the man-made modifications to God’s people as the pure Word of God. Throughout the Sermon on the Mount, i.e., chapters 5-7 of Matthew’s Gospel, we find the Lord Jesus repeatedly teaching and saying phrases like, ‘you have heard,’ or ‘you were told,’ or implying the same; and then He presents His corrected version by stating ‘but I say to you.’ In other words, the Living Word who became flesh and dwelt amongst us (John 1:14) was teaching them what the actual instruction was, instead of the corrupted one that they had been taught and asked to practice. The religious leaders of those times had misinterpreted and misapplied God’s Word to make it suit their convenience and be of benefit to them. They were teaching this corrupted word of God to the general public and asking them to obey it. In Matthew 15:1-9 the Lord Jesus castigates the Scribes and the Pharisees for creating their own traditions and teaching commandments of men as the word of God, and denounced them for it. At that time the people were generally illiterate, and copies of God’s Word were not so easily available for reading and learning; and so, the people were constrained to learn, accept, and follow whatever the religious leaders taught them and asked them to do.

Much the same situation exists even today, although God’s word is freely available in many languages and forms – printed and digital; and so are Bible studies and teachings readily available. The Lord God has also given His Holy Spirit to each and every Christian Believer to teach them His Word, as we have seen in detail in the articles related to being a steward of God’s Word. But still, the vast majority of the “Christians” believe in and adhere to what their religious leaders, those of their denomination or sect preach and teach them, instead of obeying and following the actual Word of God. The very fact that there are major differences in the doctrines and practices of every denomination and sect is proof that none of these man-made rules and regulations, these doctrines and practices, are actually the Word of God. Like what the Scribes and Pharisees and the other religious leaders were doing during the earthly ministry of the Lord, similarly, today’s denominational religious leaders have also manipulated and misinterpreted God’s Word to suit their convenience, and teach that modified and corrupted Word of God, as the “truth” which it most certainly is not. Therefore, what the Lord Jesus said to the Pharisees at that time, also equally applies today – “And in vain they worship Me, Teaching as doctrines the commandments of men” (Matthew 15:9). All worship and reverence of God based on these contrived denominational doctrines and practices is “vain worship,” i.e., it is inconsequential. It brings no blessings or rewards to those who indulge in it, no matter how piously and sincerely they may practice it.

God’s instructions to the Christian Believers are to desire the “pure milk of the word” (1 Peter 2:2); not to accept and remain indulgent in the corrupted, adulterated thing preached and taught as ‘word of god’ to them. As we have seen in the articles on the Believer’s stewardship of the Church, and the factors contributing to the growth and edification of the Church and the Christian Believers, it is the sharing, teaching, learning, and obeying the pure, unadulterated, unmodified, unaltered Word of God that causes the Believers to be edified and the Church to grow, not anything else. The blessings and fellowship of the Lord is with those who obey His pure Word (John 14:21, 23; Isaiah 40:31; 2 Timothy 3:15-17).

In the next article we will begin considering David’s fourth instruction to Solomon, “To be careful, taking heed, to remain sincere and committed to the Lord always (1 Kings 2:4b).”

If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord, make your decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now to ensure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Voluntarily repent of your sins and ask the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily and sincerely, surrender yourself to Him - this is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life.  Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.

    किसी वस्तु का योग्य रीति से उपयोग कर पाने के लिए, व्यक्ति को उसके बारे में, उसकी उपयोगिता के बारे में, और उसे उपयोग करते समय उसकी कोई हानि न हो इसलिए उसके प्रति रखी जाने वाली सावधानियों के बारे में जानना होता है। यह तब और भी अधिक महत्वपूर्ण हो जाता है जब व्यक्ति को उस वस्तु का भण्डारी बनाया गया हो, और उसे उस वस्तु के उपयोग का लेखा भी देना हो। जैसा कि पिछले लेखों में हम देख चुके हैं, परमेश्वर ने प्रत्येक नया जन्म पाए हुए मसीही विश्वासी को कम से कम चार बातें दी हैं, ताकि वह अपने मसीही जीवन और परमेश्वर द्वारा उसे सौंपी गई सेवकाई का सही निर्वाह कर सके; और हर विश्वासी उन बातों का भण्डारी है, उन के लिए परमेश्वर को उत्तरदायी है । ये चार बातें हैं – परमेश्वर का वचन; परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा; परमेश्वर की कलीसिया और उसकी सन्तानों की सहभागिता; और परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा का कोई न कोई वरदान। अभी तक हम परमेश्वर के वचन और परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा के बारे में देख चुके हैं, और वर्तमान में परमेश्वर की कलीसिया तथा उसकी सन्तानों की सहभागिता के भण्डारी होने के बारे में, बाइबल में कलीसिया के लिए उपयोग किये गए रूपकों से सीख रहे हैं। हम बाइबल में दिए गए सात रूपकों में से पहले चार रूपकों को पिछले लेखों में देख चुके हैं। आज हम इस सूची के पाँचवें रूपक, कलीसिया के प्रभु की दुल्हन होने के संबंध में देखेंगे।

(5) प्रभु की दुल्हन

    परमेश्वर के वचन बाइबल में कलीसिया को प्रभु यीशु की दुल्हन भी कहा गया है। पति-पत्नी का संबंध सभी सांसारिक संबंधों में से सब से अंतरंग संबंध है। सृष्टि के आरंभ के समय से ही, परमेश्वर ने इस संबंध की अन्य हर संबंध के ऊपर प्राथमिकता को और दोनों की परस्पर घनिष्ठता को हव्वा की रचना करने के साथ ही बता दिया था, “इस कारण पुरुष अपने माता पिता को छोड़कर अपनी पत्नी से मिला रहेगा और वे एक तन बने रहेंगे” (उत्पत्ति 2:24)। परमेश्वर के वचन बाइबल के पुराने नियम खंड में, मूसा में होकर परमेश्वर द्वारा दी गई व्यवस्था में, याजकों को अन्य सभी इस्राएलियों से विशिष्ट स्तर दिया गया, और उन्हें परमेश्वर के प्रति पूर्णतः समर्पित और आज्ञाकारी तथा शुद्ध और पवित्र बने रहने के लिए कहा गया। साथ ही उन्हें किसी वेश्या, या भ्रष्ट स्त्री को अथवा किसी तलाक-शुदा, या त्यागी हुई से विवाह करने के लिए मना किया गया (लैव्यव्यवस्था 21:6-8)। जैसे आज प्रभु यीशु मसीह परमेश्वर और अपनी कलीसिया के मध्य कार्य कर रहा है, उस समय याजक परमेश्वर और मनुष्यों के मध्य, परमेश्वर का वह दूत था (मलाकी 2:7); जो परमेश्वर के लोगों तक परमेश्वर का वचन पहुँचाता था, और उनकी ओर से लोगों की प्रार्थनाएं एवं बलिदान परमेश्वर को अर्पित करता था। इसीलिए प्रभु यीशु मसीह को, उसकी सेवकाई के आधार पर, अपने विश्वासियों के लिए नए नियम में “महायाजक” भी कहा गया है (इब्रानियों 3:1; 5:5; 9:11)। तात्पर्य यह कि पुराने नियम के याजक एक प्रकार से प्रभु यीशु मसीह का प्रतिरूप थे। यदि व्यवस्था के अंतर्गत याजकों को भ्रष्ट, या वेश्या, या त्यागी हुई स्त्री से विवाह करने के अनुमति होती, तो यह सांकेतिक रीति से प्रभु की कलीसिया, उसकी दुल्हन में ऐसे व्यवहार या चरित्र को स्वीकृति प्रदान करना हो जाता, जो फिर आज की कलीसिया के शुद्ध और पवित्र होने से पूर्णतः असंगत एवं अस्वीकार्य हो जाता।     

    इस रूपक से संबंधित बाइबल के कुछ वचनों पर ध्यान कीजिए:

• “क्योंकि मैं तुम्हारे विषय में ईश्वरीय धुन लगाए रहता हूं, इसलिये कि मैं ने एक ही पुरुष से तुम्हारी बात लगाई है, कि तुम्हें पवित्र कुंवारी के समान मसीह को सौंप दूं” (2 कुरिन्थियों 11:2)।

• “हे पतियों, अपनी अपनी पत्नी से प्रेम रखो, जैसा मसीह ने भी कलीसिया से प्रेम कर के अपने आप को उसके लिये दे दिया। कि उसको वचन के द्वारा जल के स्नान से शुद्ध कर के पवित्र बनाए। और उसे एक ऐसी तेजस्वी कलीसिया बना कर अपने पास खड़ी करे, जिस में न कलंक, न झुर्री, न कोई ऐसी वस्तु हो, वरन पवित्र और निर्दोष हो” (इफिसियों 5:25-27)।

• “इस कारण मनुष्य माता पिता को छोड़कर अपनी पत्नी से मिला रहेगा, और वे दोनों एक तन होंगे। यह भेद तो बड़ा है; पर मैं मसीह और कलीसिया के विषय में कहता हूं। पर तुम में से हर एक अपनी पत्नी से अपने समान प्रेम रखे, और पत्नी भी अपने पति का भय माने” (इफिसियों 5:31-33)।

    प्रभु यीशु और कलीसिया के संबंध को पति-पत्नी के संबंध के समान बताया गया है (इफिसियों 5:31-33)। प्रकट एवं स्पष्ट है कि 2 कुरिन्थियों 11:2 की बात, ऊपर कही गई याजकों के विवाह और प्रभु यीशु के महायाजक होने के साथ पूर्णतः मेल खाती है, उसकी पूरक है। न याजक भ्रष्ट हो सकता था, और न ही उसकी दुल्हन; न प्रभु यीशु में कोई अशुद्धता या अपवित्रता है, और न ही उसकी दुल्हन, उसकी कलीसिया में हो सकती है। किन्तु प्रभु की वर्तमान दुल्हन हम शारीरिक और पाप से दूषित लोगों के, पापों से पश्चाताप करने और नया जन्म पाकर, पाप और संसार से निकाले जाने के द्वारा बनी है। इसीलिए प्रभु आज स्वयं ही उसे अपने वचन के द्वारा शुद्ध, पवित्र, निष्कलंक, निर्दोष, बेझुर्री, और तेजस्वी बना रहा है, जिससे कि प्रभु की दुल्हन प्रभु के साथ खड़ी हो सके (इफिसियों 5:26-27)। इसीलिए विश्वासियों से कहा गया है कि वे अपने आप को एक पूर्णतः नई सृष्टि समझें, जहाँ पुरानी सभी बातें बीत गई हैं; और वे प्रभु को पूर्णतः समर्पित होकर, उन्हें छुड़ाने वाले के लिए ही अपने जीवन जीएँ (2 कुरिन्थियों 5:15, 17)।

    एक बार फिर, कलीसिया का यह रूपक, और बताए गए उसके गुण इस बात को प्रकट कर देते हैं कि वास्तविक कलीसिया वही है जो प्रभु यीशु ने बनाई है तथा बना रहा है, और जिसे वह स्वयं ही शुद्ध और पवित्र कर रहा है। अन्य कोई भी ‘कलीसिया’ सांसारिक रीतियों और शब्दों के दुरुपयोग द्वारा ‘प्रभु की कलीसिया’ कहकर संबोधित तो की जा सकती है, किन्तु जिस कलीसिया में प्रभु द्वारा की जा रही शुद्धि, वचन का स्नान, पवित्रता में और प्रभु के प्रति समर्पण एवं उसकी निकटता में निरन्तर बढ़ते चले जाना, नहीं देखा जाता है, प्रकट है कि प्रभु उसे अपने साथ खड़े होने के लिए तैयार नहीं कर रहा है; अर्थात वह प्रभु यीशु द्वारा स्थापित, उसके द्वारा बुलाए और चुने हुए लोगों से बनी उसकी कलीसिया नहीं है। 

    प्रभु यीशु की कलीसिया से संबंधित यह रूपक, कलीसिया के लिए प्रभु परमेश्वर की ओर से प्रदान की गई एक अति-महान और अभूतपूर्व आशीष को भी हमारे सामने लाता है। ध्यान कीजिए, मसीही विश्वास (ईसाई या मसीही धर्म नहीं, वरन विश्वास) के अतिरिक्त संसार के अन्य सभी मत, धर्म, धारणाएं, आदि मनुष्यों से कहते हैं कि उन्हें पहले अपने ही प्रयासों से शुद्ध और पवित्र होना पड़ेगा, और तब ही वे उस मत, धर्म, धारणाओं को मानने और पालन करने वालों के इष्ट-देव के पास आ सकते हैं, उसे प्रसन्न कर सकते हैं। और लोग इसके लिए न जाने कितने प्रकार के प्रयास और कार्य करते रहते हैं, किन्तु उस वांछित एवं स्थाई शुद्धता और पवित्रता को प्राप्त नहीं करने पाते हैं। किन्तु इसके विपरीत, केवल मसीही विश्वास (न कि धर्म) ही समस्त मानव जाति को यह आश्वासन और प्रतिज्ञा देता है कि जो भी प्रभु यीशु के पास आएगा, वह चाहे जैसा भी है, उसने चाहे कैसा भी जीवन जिया हो, प्रभु यीशु उसे उसकी उसी दशा में ग्रहण करके फिर स्वयं ही उसे शुद्ध और पवित्र करेगा, अपने साथ खड़े होने योग्य बनाएगा - जो उसके लोग बन जाते हैं, अर्थात उसे समर्पित हो जाते हैं, उनका उद्धार भी वह स्वयं ही करता है, उसके नाम का यही अभिप्राय है (मत्ती 1:21), और फिर स्वयं ही उन्हें शुद्ध, पवित्र, निष्कलंक, निर्दोष, बेझुर्री, और तेजस्वी बनाता है। 

    यदि आप एक मसीही विश्वासी हैं, तो अपने आप को जाँच कर देखिए कि आप परमेश्वर के वचन से कितना प्रेम करते हैं? आप बाइबल को अपने जीवन में क्या स्थान और महत्व देते हैं? आप कितना समय बाइबल के पढ़ने और अध्ययन करने में लगाते हैं? क्योंकि प्रभु यीशु द्वारा उससे प्रेम करने वालों की यही एकमात्र पहचान, एकमात्र चिह्न दिया गया है - विश्वासी का वचन से प्रेम (यूहन्ना 14:21, 23)। साथ ही, अपने आत्मिक स्तर को परखने के लिए अपनी क्रमिक आत्मिक बढ़ोतरी को देखिए, कि पिछले समय की तुलना में, आज आप मसीह यीशु की निकटता में, उसके साथ घनिष्ठता में, कितने बढ़े हैं; और बढ़ते जा रहे हैं या कहीं किसी स्तर पर आ कर अटक गए हैं? क्या आप वचन के स्नान द्वारा धोए जाकर प्रभु यीशु द्वारा शुद्ध और पवित्र होते जा रहे हैं (यूहन्ना 13:8), पुरानी बुराइयों से निकलकर मसीही जीवन की नवीनता में बढ़ते जा रहे हैं कि नहीं? यदि प्रभु आपके जीवन में कार्य नहीं कर रहा है, आपको अपनी समानता में परिवर्तित (2 कुरिन्थियों 3:18) नहीं करता जा रहा है, तो आपको बहुत गंभीरता से अपने ‘मसीही विश्वासी’ होने पर विचार करने (2 कुरिन्थियों 13:5), बारीकी से अपने मसीही जीवन का आँकलन करने, और जो भी त्रुटि है, घटी है, उसे सुधारने की आवश्यकता है। इसे व्यर्थ मत समझिए, अभी समय और अवसर रहते यह कर लीजिए, कहीं टालना या इसे अनुचित एवं अनावश्यक समझना आपके लिए बहुत हानिकारक और अनन्तकाल के लिए पीड़ादायक न हो जाए। 

    यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। स्वेच्छा से अपने पापों के लिये पश्चाताप करके, प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु, मैं अपने पापों के लिए पश्चातापी हूँ, उनके लिए आप से क्षमा माँगता हूँ। मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मुझे और मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

Metaphors – 5 -  The Bride of Christ

    

    To worthily utilize something, one needs to learn about it, know its importance, and the precautions required to see that it does not come to any harm. This becomes all the more important, if one has been made a steward of that thing, and will have to give an account of how he has put it to use. As we have seen before, every Born-Again Christian Believer has been given at least four things by God, for living his Christian life and fulfilling his God appointed ministry, and he is their steward, accountable to God for them. These things are – God’s Word; God the Holy Spirit; God’s Church and fellowship with God’s children; and some gift of God the Holy Spirit. We have already learnt about the stewardship of God’s Word and God’s Holy Spirit, and are presently learning about being steward of God’s Church and fellowshipping with God’s children, through the metaphors used for the Church in the Bible. From the seven metaphors given in the Bible, we have considered the first four metaphors in the previous articles. Today we will consider the fifth metaphor, being the Bride of Christ.

(5) The Bride of Christ

    In the Word of God, the Church has also been called the Bride of the Lord Jesus. The relationship between husband and wife is the most intimate of all human relationships. From the beginning, since the creation of Eve, God has declared this to be primary relationship that supersedes all other relationships and be the most intimate between the husband and wife, “Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh” (Genesis 2:24). In the Old Testament section of the Bible, in the Law given by God through Moses, the Priests were given a very special place amongst all the Israelites, and they were told to remain completely surrendered and committed to God, to always be pure and holy. They were also instructed never to marry any harlot, or defiled, or divorced, i.e., a cast-away woman (Leviticus 21:6-8). As the Lord functions today between God and His Church, at that time it was the priest who served the same function between God and men (Malachi 2:7); serving as God’s messenger for men, and offering the prayers and sacrifices of men before God. That is why, on the basis of His ministry amongst His people, the Lord Jesus has also been called the “High Priest” (Hebrews 3:1; 5:5; 9:11). The implication is that the priests of the Old Testament were a type of, a representation of, the Lord Jesus. If in the Law, the priests had been permitted to marry a harlot, or a defiled, or a divorced woman, then it would symbolically have been a sanction for the Church or Bride of Christ to be of similar character as well. This then would have rendered the instruction for the Church to be pure and holy, totally inconsistent and therefore unacceptable.

    Consider some Bible verses related to this metaphor:

• “For I am jealous for you with godly jealousy. For I have betrothed you to one husband, that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ” (2 Corinthians 11:2).

• “Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her, that He might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the word, that He might present her to Himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that she should be holy and without blemish” (Ephesians 5:25-27).

• “"For this reason, a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh." This is a great mystery, but I speak concerning Christ and the church. Nevertheless, let each one of you in particular so love his own wife as himself, and let the wife see that she respects her husband” (Ephesians 5:31-33).

 

    The relationship between the Lord Jesus and His Church has been stated as the relationship of a husband and wife (Ephesians 5:31-33). It is quite evident that what has been said in 2 Corinthians 11:2 is very consistent with, and also fulfills the Lord Jesus being the High Priest. Neither could the Priest have been defiled, nor could he have a defiled woman as wife. But the present bride of Christ Jesus is made up of us Christian Believers, who, in their flesh, are carnal and defiled, brought out from the sin corrupted world, through repentance from sins and being Born-Again. That is why the Lord Himself is preparing and cleansing His bride through His Word, to make it pure, holy, without spot or blemish, and glorious, so that it will be able to stand with Him (Ephesians 5:26-27). That is why the Believers have been asked to consider themselves as a new creation, where all old things have passed away; and live their lives as fully consecrated to the Lord, for Him, their redeemer (2 Corinthians 5:15, 17).

    Once more, this metaphor for the Church of the Lord makes it clear that the actual Church is the one that the Lord Himself has built and is building; the one that the Lord is making pure and holy. Any other ‘church’ may be called ‘the church of Jesus Christ’ on the basis of certain worldly traditions, man-made rituals, and by misuse of words for calling it to be Lord’s Church; but if in that ‘church’ the purification and cleansing done by the Lord Jesus through the washing of water by the word, the church’s progressively increasing in holiness and nearness to the Lord, and remaining fully surrendered and committed to the Lord Jesus is not seen, then how can it be ready to stand with the Lord Jesus? Evidently, such a ‘church’ despite all its claims, is not the Church of the Lord Jesus.

    This metaphor of the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ also brings before us a great and unforeseen blessing granted by the Lord God to His people. Remember and recall that other than the Christian Faith (not Christian religion but faith), every religion, belief, concept etc. tells the people to somehow first cleanse themselves, to become pure and holy, only then can they approach their deity and please it. Therefore, their followers keep on doing so many different works and efforts for this, but are never able to reach that desired state of purity and holiness, nor maintain whatever they think that they have achieved through their works. In stark contrast, it is only the Christian Faith (not religion) that offers to all of mankind this assurance and promise that whoever comes to the Lord Jesus, whatever he may have been like in the past, the Lord will accept him as he is and will Himself purify him, make him holy, and make him one who will stand by the Lord’s side as a part of His Bride - those who become His people, i.e., surrender themselves to Him, the Lord Himself saves them, for that is what is the meaning of His name (Matthew 1:21), and then makes them pure, holy, without spot or blemish or wrinkle, and glorious.

    If you are a Christian Believer, then examine yourself and see how much do you love the Word of God? What place does the Bible have in your life? How much time do you spend reading and studying the Bible? There is only one criterion given by the Lord Jesus of recognizing the love a Believer has for the Lord - the Believer’s love for the Bible (John 14:21, 23); the Believer’s love for the Bible is the measure of his love for the Lord. Another thing for you to evaluate your spiritual state is your progressive spiritual growth, i.e., in comparison to your state sometime back, how much have you grown or increased in your closeness and intimacy with the Lord Jesus; and are you continually progressing in your Christian life and living, or have you become stagnant at some point? Are you daily and regularly being washed by the Word of God; i.e., are your impurities of worldly things and attachments being taken away, and are you being purified and made holy by the Lord Jesus (John 13:8)? If the Lord is not working in your life, if He is not gradually, bit by bit, changing you into His likeness (2 Corinthians 3:18), then you very seriously need to reconsider and evaluate your being a “Christian Believer” (2 Corinthians 13:5), identify all that needs to be rectified, and do that rectification now, while you have the time and opportunity. Do not think it to be a vain exercise, nor ignore or procrastinate doing this; else the consequences can be very harmful and painful for eternity. 

    If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord, make your decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now to ensure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Repenting of your sins, and asking the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily and sincerely, surrendering yourself to Him - is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life.  Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.

पवित्र आत्मा से सीखना – 15

    परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा के भण्डारी होने के नाते, नया-जन्म पाए हुए मसीही विश्वासियों की यह ज़िम्मेदारी है कि वे योग्य रीति से उसका और सेवाओं का लाभ उठाएँ और उसके निर्देशों के अनुसार काम करें। परमेश्वर ने प्रत्येक मसीही विश्वासी में, उसके उद्धार के समय से ही, उस में निवास करने के लिए अपना पवित्र आत्मा दे दिया है (इफिसियों 1:13-14), ताकि उसका सहायक, साथी, शिक्षक, और मार्गदर्शक हो (यूहन्ना 14:26; 16:13), उसके मसीही जीवन जीने और परमेश्वर द्वारा उसे सौंपी गई सेवकाई का निर्वाह करने के लिए। उस के शिक्षक के रूप में, पवित्र आत्मा विश्वासी को परमेश्वर का वचन भी सिखाता है। इसलिए, यह प्रत्येक मसीही विश्वासी का दायित्व है कि उस से बाइबल को तथा बाइबल में से पवित्र आत्मा के बारे में भी सीखे, जिस से उसका भण्डारी होने का ठीक से निर्वाह कर सके। इसका यह तात्पर्य नहीं है कि परमेश्वर के प्रतिबद्ध तथा ज्ञानी मानवीय सेवकों से नहीं सीखना है। ध्यान कीजिए कि आरम्भिक कलीसिया के समय से ही परमेश्वर के मानवीय सेवक ही वचन का प्रचार और प्रसार करते चले ये हैं, आज भी कर रहे हैं; और यह परमेश्वर द्वारा दिया गया तरीका भी है (2 तीमुथियुस 2:2)। किन्तु क्योंकि कोई भी मनुष्य सिद्ध नहीं है, प्रत्येक मनुष्य गलती कर सकता है, और करता रहता है, इसलिये हमारी प्राथमिक निर्भरता असिद्ध मनुष्यों और उनके ज्ञान पर नहीं (1 कुरिन्थियों 2:5), वरन् सिद्ध परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा पर होनी चाहिये। और इसीलिए मनुष्यों की सिखाई हुई प्रत्येक बात की पहले वचन से पुष्टि कर लेने के बाद ही उसे स्वीकार करना चाहिये (प्रेरितों 17:11; 1 कुरिन्थियों 14:29; 1 थिस्सलुनीकियों 5:21)। हम 1 पतरस 2:1-2 से सीख रहे हैं कि विश्वासी को परमेश्वर का वचन कैसे सीखना है, और हमने देखा है कि सबसे पहले उसे साँसारिक और शारीरिक व्यवहार छोड़कर वचन सीखने की एक सच्ची लालसा रखनी है; और दूसरे, उसकी लालसा वचन के “निर्मल दूध” के लिए होनी चाहिए, न कि जो कुछ भी मिलावटी वस्तु परमेश्वर के सत्य के नाम परोस दी जाए उसे यूँ ही ग्रहण कर ले।

    हमने यह भी देखा था कि शैतान परमेश्वर के वचन में मिलावट करवाता है ताकि उसके सन्देश को अप्रभावी बना सके। वह यह काम या तो अपने दूतों से करवाता है जो जानबूझकर यह करते हैं, अथवा परमेश्वर के सच्चे समर्पित विश्वासियों के द्वारा अनजाने में ही झूठी शिक्षाएँ और गलत सिद्धान्तों को चुपके से घुसा देता है। शैतान का यह दूसरा तरीका विभिन्न कारणों से संभव होने पाता है, और बहुधा इसके पीछे विश्वासियों के जीवन में किसी प्रकार का कोई पाप छुपा होना होता है, जिस से शैतान को उन्हें अपने बहकावों और युक्तियों में डाल देने का रास्ता मिल जाता है। ऐसा हो जाने के बाद, शैतान उन से परमेश्वर के वचन और शिक्षाओं में उनकी अपनी बुद्धि और समझ की बातें डलवा कर वचन में मिलावट कर देता है और उन विश्वासियों को आभास भी नहीं होता है कि उनके द्वारा और उनके कारण मिलावट हो गई है। और वे उस मिलावट वाले वचन का ही प्रचार करते रहते हैं उसी की शिक्षा देते रहते हैं, यही समझते हुए कि वे परमेश्वर के सत्य को ही प्रस्तुत कर रहे हैं।

    परमेश्वर के वचन में, यह सुनिश्चित करने के लिए कि केवल बाइबल की खरी बातें और सही शिक्षा का ही प्रचार हो, विश्वासियों के लिए, विशेषकर उनके लिए जो वचन की सेवकाई में लगे हैं, एक तीन-स्तर का जाँचना-परखना निर्धारित किया गया है। पिछले लेख में हमने इन तीन स्तरों में से पहले के बारे में 1 कुरिन्थियों 4:6 में से देखा था, अर्थात वचन की सेवकाई में संलग्न विश्वासी द्वारा स्वयं का आँकलन तथा मण्डली के द्वारा उसे परखना। हमने देखा था कि इस पहले स्तर की जाँच में दो भाग हैं, पवित्र शास्त्र में लिखे हुए से आगे नहीं बढ़ना; तथा एक के पक्ष में और दूसरे के विरोध में गर्व न करना, अर्थात लोगों को मनुष्यों के अनुसरण करने वाले और गुटों में विभाजित होने को प्रोत्साहन न देना। विश्वासियों को तथा उन्हें जो वचन की सेवकाई में लगे हुए हैं नियमित रीति से अपने आप को, तथा अपने प्रचार और शिक्षाओं की सामग्री को जाँचते-परखते रहना चाहिए कि कहीं, किसी समय उन्होंने इस पहले स्तर की किसी बात का उल्लंघन तो नहीं किया है। आज हम दूसरे स्तर को देखेंगे।

    इस तीन-स्तर की जाँच-परख का दूसरा स्तर है मण्डली के लोगों का, उन लोगों का जिन्हें किसी प्रचारक और शिक्षक के द्वारा संबोधित किया जा रहा है, सक्रिय रीति से ध्यान रखना कि कहीं परमेश्वर के वचन से असंगत किसी बात को बताया अथवा सिखाया तो नहीं जा रहा है। इस का एक अंश हमने पिछले लेख में पहले स्तर की जाँच-परख के साथ 1 कुरिन्थियों 4:6 में से देखा था, जहाँ पर पवित्र आत्मा के द्वारा पौलुस “भाइयों” – अर्थात मण्डली के सदस्यों को संबोधित करता है। दूसरे शब्दों में, यह न केवल प्रचारक और शिक्षक की ज़िम्मेदारी है, लेकिन “भाइयों” की – मण्डली के सदस्यों की भी, कि यह सुनिश्चित करें कि पहले स्तर के दोनों भागों का सही निर्वाह हो रहा है। इसलिए, श्रोताओं को निष्क्रिय होकर केवल ग्रहण करने वाले ही नहीं होना है, लेकिन उन्हें ऐसे जन होना है जो उसका जो बताया और सिखाया जा रहा है सक्रिय होकर आँकलन करते हैं। दूसरे शब्दों में, प्रेरितों 17:11 और 1 थिस्सलुनीकियों 5:21 का व्यावहारिक उपयोग करने वाले लोग होना है। यह मसीही विश्वासियों को परमेश्वर द्वारा दी गई ज़िम्मेदारी है, उन्हें झूठी शिक्षाओं और गलत सिद्धान्तों से सुरक्षित रखने के लिए। एक बार यदि विश्वासी पवित्र आत्मा के मार्गदर्शन और समझ-बूझ से यह करने की ठान ले, तो न केवल वह अपने आत्मिक जीवन में उन्नति करेगा और सीखेगा, लेकिन साथ ही कई औरों को भी गलत बातों में पड़ने से बचाएगा। साथ ही इस से उनके मध्य में वचन की सेवकाई करने वाले भी सचेत होकर सेवकाई करेंगे कि कहीं उनके द्वारा कोई गलत शिक्षा तो नहीं लाई जा रही है।

    दूसरे स्तर की यह जाँच-परख – मण्डली और श्रोताओं के द्वारा, केवल पहले स्तर में निहित ही नहीं है, 1 कुरिन्थियों 14:29 “भविष्यद्वक्ताओं में से दो या तीन बोलें, और शेष लोग उन के वचन को परखें” में यह निर्देश भी दिया गया है। इस अध्याय में प्रेरित पौलुस ने पवित्र आत्मा की अगुवाई में “अन्य भाषाएँ” बोलने से संबंधित कई भ्रांतियों और गलत शिक्षाओं को संबोधित किया है, उन्हें स्पष्ट किया है, और फिर यह उद्धृत किया गया पद इस विषय के निष्कर्षों में से एक है। इसलिए, निहितार्थ प्रकट है, यदि मण्डली के लोग, विशेषकर वे जो स्वयं भी वचन की सेवकाई में हैं “भविष्यद्वक्ताओं” को “परखें” तो फिर भ्रांतियों और गलत शिक्षाओं को प्रवेश करने का अवसर ही नहीं होगा, उनके जड़ पकड़ कर बढ़ने की तो संभावना ही नहीं रहेगी। यह ध्यान देने योग्य बात है कि यहाँ पर प्रयोग किए गए मूल यूनानी भाषा के जिस शब्द का अनुवाद “भविष्यद्वक्ताओं” किया गया है, उसका अर्थ होता है वह जो किसी के सामने या किसी अधिकार के अन्तर्गत उसके लिये बोलता है – सामान्यतः इसे ईश्वरीय अधिकार माना जाता है, अर्थात आवश्यक नहीं कि वह केवल आने वाली बातों के बारे में बताए। इसी प्रकार से मूल यूनानी भाषा के जिस शब्द का अनुवाद “परखें” किया गया है, उसका अर्थ होता है आँकलन या जाँच-परख कर के एक निर्णय देना। 

    इसलिए परमेश्वर का वचन मण्डली को, कम से कम मण्डली के अगुवों, प्रचारकों, वचन के शिक्षकों को, यह ज़िम्मेदारी देता है, कि उन्हें दिए जाने वाले प्रत्येक सन्देश और शिक्षा का आँकलन किया जाए, और फिर निर्णय दिया जाए कि वह सही और मानने के योग्य है कि नहीं। यहाँ पर यह निहित है कि आँकलन के माप-दण्ड के लिए परमेश्वर का वचन उपयोग किया जाएगा। लेकिन जो ध्यान देने योग्य महत्वपूर्ण बात यहाँ पर दी गई है, वह है कि न तो मण्डली के “भविष्यद्वक्ताओं” को और न ही मण्डली के लोगों को प्रचारक के नाम, ख्याति, और स्तर, और न ही उसके द्वारा प्रचार किए गए सन्देश के लुभावने या आकर्षक होने के कारण बहक जाना है और वह जो भी कह अथवा सिखा रहा है उसे यूँ ही स्वीकार कर लेना है। बल्कि यह उन्हें परमेश्वर द्वारा दी गई ज़िम्मेदारी है कि वे “भविष्यद्वक्ताओं” को भी “परखें” और उनके सन्देशों को भी, ताकि मण्डली किसी भी झूठी शिक्षा या गलत सिद्धान्त के घुसाए जाने से सुरक्षित रहे, जो शैतान चुपके से किसी लापरवाही के होने के द्वारा घुसा सकता है।

    अगले लेख में हम जाँचने-परखने के तीसरे स्तर को देखेंगे, जिसे परमेश्वर के वचन में दिया गया है जिस से कि वचन और उसकी शिक्षाओं की शुद्धता और पवित्रता बनी रह सके।

    यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। स्वेच्छा से अपने पापों के लिये पश्चाताप करके, प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु, मैं अपने पापों के लिए पश्चातापी हूँ, उनके लिए आप से क्षमा माँगता हूँ। मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मुझे और मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

Learning From the Holy Spirit – 15

 

    As stewards of God the Holy Spirit, the Born-Again Christian Believers have a God given responsibility to worthily utilize Him and His services and to work according to His directions. God has given His Holy Spirit to reside in every Christian Believer since the moment of his salvation (Ephesians 1:13-14), to be their Helper, Companion, Teacher, and Guide (John 14:26; 16:13) for their Christian living and for fulfilling their God assigned ministry. As their Teacher, God the Holy Spirit is also there to teach God’s Word the Bible to the Believers. Therefore, it is every Christian Believer’ duty to learn the Bible from Him and about Him from the Bible, to function worthily as His stewards. This does not mean that we do not have to learn from the committed and knowledgeable servants of God. Take note that since the time of the first Church, it is the human servants of God who have been preaching, propagating, and teaching God’s Word, and are doing it even today; and this is the God given method of teaching God’s Word (2 Timothy 2:2). But since no person is perfect, every person can and does keep committing mistakes, therefore, our primary dependence should not be on fallible men and their knowledge (1 Corinthians 2:5), but on the perfect God the Holy Spirit. For this reason, everything taught by men must first be confirmed from God’s Word (Acts 17:11; 1 Corinthians 14:29; 1 Thessalonians 5:21), and only then accepted. We have been learning from 1 Peter 2:1-2 about the Believers learning God’s Word, and have seen that firstly the Believers should leave aside worldly and carnal behavior and have a sincere desire to learn, and secondly the desire to learn only the “pure milk” of God’s Word, instead of accepting any adulterated stuff dispensed as God’s truth.

    We have also seen that Satan gets God’s Word adulterated to render it’s message ineffective, either deliberately through his agents; or inadvertently through subtly bringing in false teachings and wrong doctrines amongst God’s committed Believers engaged in the ministry of preaching and teaching God’s Word. This second satanic method is made possible because of various reasons; very often it is because of some sin creeping into God’s people and laying them open to Satan’s deceptions. Once this happens, Satan gets them to adulterate God’s Word by adding to it things of their own understanding and wisdom, without their even realizing this adulteration has happened in and through them. And they preach and teach that adulterated Word, while continuing to function in the belief that they are preaching and teaching God’s truth.

    God’s Word has prescribed a three-level cross-checking mechanism for the Believers, especially those engaged in ministry of the Word, to ensure that only true Biblical teachings are preached and taught. In the last article we have seen the first of these three levels, i.e., the personal evaluation and also cross-checking by the congregation and other persons engaged in the Word ministry from 1 Corinthians 4:6. We saw that there are two components of this first level, i.e., not to think beyond what is written in the Scriptures; and not to engage in any one-upmanship, i.e., not to encourage others into becoming followers of men, and of promoting factionalism in the Church. The Believers and those in the ministry of the Word, need to regularly keep checking their lives and the contents of their preaching and teaching that they have not at any time, in any way transgressed this first level, in either of these components. Today we will look at the second level.

    The second level of this three-level cross-checking is the active involvement of the congregation, the audience being addressed by the preacher and teacher of God’s Word, to see that nothing inconsistent with God’s Word is preached or taught. A part of this we have seen in the last article, in relation to the first level, from 1 Corinthians 4:6, where through the Holy Spirit the Apostle Paul addresses the “brethren” – i.e., the members of the congregation. In other words, it is not only the responsibility of the preachers and teachers, but also of the “brethren” – of the congregation members to ensure that the two components of the first level are being fulfilled. Therefore, the audience are not to be passive recipients, but those who actively discern the truthfulness of whatever is being preached and taught। In other words, they must be the active practitioners of Acts 17:11 and 1 Thessalonians 5:21. This is a God given responsibility to the Christian Believers, to keep them safe from false teachings and wrong doctrines. Once the Believers decide to engage in it under the guidance and wisdom from the Holy Spirit, not only will they learn and grow in their spiritual lives, but will also keep many others from falling into erroneous teachings. They will also keep those ministering God’s Word to them on their toes to ensure that they do not bring any false teachings to them.

    This second level cross-checking – by the congregation and audience, is not only implied in the first level, but has clearly been instructed in 1 Corinthians 14:29 “Let two or three prophets speak, and let the others judge.” In this chapter, the Apostle Paul, through the Holy Spirit has addressed and clarified many misconceptions and false teachings about speaking in “tongues,” and this quoted verse is one of the concluding remarks on this topic. Therefore, the implication is evident, if the congregation, especially those amongst the congregation who themselves are in the ministry of the Word, “judge” the “prophets” then, the misconceptions and false teachings will have no chance to even enter, let alone take root and grow. It is important to note here that the Greek word translated as “prophet” means one who speaks forth before others, or speaks under an authority for it – usually taken to mean a divine authority; i.e., it is not necessarily foretelling about future events. Similarly, the Greek word for “judge” means to discern or analyze and state a result. 

    So, God’s Word puts it upon the congregation, at the very least, upon the elders, preachers, and teachers of the congregation, to evaluate every message and teaching given, and then state whether it is correct and worthy to be followed or not. Implied here is that the Word of God is to be used as the standard for the evaluation. But the important point to note is that neither the “prophets” in the congregation, nor the congregation are to simply get carried away by the name, fame, and status of the preacher, nor fall for the attractiveness or appeal of the message, and agree with whatever has been said and taught. But it is their God given responsibility to “judge” the “prophet” as well as his message, to safeguard their congregation from being misled by false teachings and wrong doctrines that Satan may subtly bring in due to their complacency.

    In the next article we will see about the third level of cross-checking that God’s Word prescribes for maintaining the purity and sanctity of God’s Word and its ministry.

Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Repenting of your sins, and asking the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily and sincerely, surrendering yourself to Him - is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life.  Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.

पिछले लेख में हमने देखा था कि बाइबल हम मनुष्यों के लिए, जीवन व्यतीत करने और परलोक के लिए तैयार होने की, परमेश्वर द्वारा दी गई मार्गदर्शक पुस्तिका है। यह हमें हमारे भूत, वर्तमान, और भविष्य के बारे में बताती, सिखाती, और चिताती है; और सभी परिस्थितियों का सामना करने के लिए तैयार करती है। आज इसी से सम्बन्धित कुछ और बातों को भी देखते हैं।

साथ ही, प्रभु यीशु अपनी कलीसिया, अपने लोगों की मण्डली को, अपने “वचन के स्नान” के द्वारा निर्मल और शुद्ध करता है, पवित्र बनाता है “उसको वचन के द्वारा जल के स्‍नान से शुद्ध कर के पवित्र बनाए” (इफिसियों 5:26)। तात्पर्य यह कि इस संसार की पापमय बातों और व्यवहार से शुद्ध और पवित्र रहने के लिये परमेश्वर के वचन बाइबल में बने रहना, उसका पालन करते रहना अनिवार्य है। इसकी पुष्टि 2 पतरस 1:2-4 से भी होती है। 

बाइबल में दी गई भविष्यवाणियों के अनुसार, हम संसार के अंत के दिनों में जी रहे हैं। शीघ्र ही संसार का हर व्यक्ति अपने जीवन का हिसाब देने और अपने किए के अनुसार न्याय पाने के लिए प्रभु यीशु मसीह के समक्ष उपस्थित होगा: “इसलिये परमेश्वर अज्ञानता के समयों में आनाकानी कर के, अब हर जगह सब मनुष्यों को मन फिराने की आज्ञा देता है। क्योंकि उसने एक दिन ठहराया है, जिस में वह उस मनुष्य के द्वारा धर्म से जगत का न्याय करेगा, जिसे उसने ठहराया है और उसे मरे हुओं में से जिलाकर, यह बात सब पर प्रमाणित कर दी है” (प्रेरितों के काम 17:30-31)। वर्तमान संसार के हालात, सभी स्थानों पर होने वाली तथा बढ़ती जाने वाली प्राकृतिक आपदाएं, विश्व-व्यापी बीमारियाँ, स्थान-स्थान पर हो रहे कलह-क्लेश, युद्ध, सामाजिक अव्यवस्था, आदि सभी प्रभु यीशु मसीह द्वारा दिए गए अंत के दिनों के चिह्नों (मत्ती 24 अध्याय) की पूर्ति हैं। इन परिस्थितियों में हमारा मार्गदर्शन करने और इनमें से सुरक्षित पार निकालने के लिए सभी को बाइबल की आवश्यकता है।

परमेश्वर ने विपदाओं से बचने का साधन हमें उपलब्ध कर दिया है। प्रभु यीशु मसीह में विश्वास करने और अपना जीवन स्वेच्छा से उसे समर्पित करने के द्वारा हम परमेश्वर के इस अमूल्य, अद्भुत, अनुपम साधन का सदुपयोग करने का मार्गदर्शन और सामर्थ्य भी प्राप्त कर लेते हैं। अब परमेश्वर के इस अनुग्रह को स्वीकार करना, और उसका लाभ उठाना, या उसका तिरस्कार करके अपने ही विनाशकारी मार्गों में बने रहना, यह प्रत्येक का व्यक्तिगत निर्णय है। जो बाइबल को परमेश्वर का वचन मानकर उसकी बातों का पालन करेगा; बाइबल के केन्द्रीय पात्र, प्रभु यीशु मसीह को उद्धारकर्ता स्वीकार करके उसके निर्देशों के अनुसार जीवन व्यतीत करेगा, वह आशीषों के साथ सुरक्षित परलोक में प्रवेश प्राप्त करेगा, अनन्त विनाश से बच जाएगा।

Bible’s Necessity - Part 2

In the previous article we had seen that The Bible is the God-given guidebook for us humans to live in the present, and to prepare for the hereafter. It tells, teaches, and warns us about our past, present, and future; And prepares us to face all situations. Today, we will consider a couple of other things related to this.

The Lord Jesus has said in John 14:21, 23 that the only practically evident proof of a person truly loving Him, is the person’s love for His Word. Those who love His Word, the Lord has promised to manifest Himself to them; and God the Father will also love them, will come to Him, they will make their home with him: “21 He who has My commandments and keeps them, it is he who loves Me. And he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and manifest Myself to him.” “23 Jesus answered and said to him, "If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him.” 

Also, the Lord cleanses and sanctifies His Church, the congregation of His people, by “washing of water by the Word.” In other words, to stay clean and pure from the sinful things and behavior of this world, it is essential to abide in God’s Word, and follow it “that He might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the Word” (Ephesians 5:26). This is also supported by 2 Peter 1:2-4.

According to the prophecies in the Bible, we are living in the last days of the world. Very soon everyone in the world will have to appear before the Lord Jesus Christ to give an account of his life and to be judged according to what he has done: “Truly, these times of ignorance God overlooked, but now commands all men everywhere to repent, because He has appointed a day on which He will judge the world in righteousness by the Man whom He has ordained. He has given assurance of this to all by raising Him from the dead” (Acts 17:30-31). The current world situation, natural disasters that are occurring and increasing everywhere, diseases worldwide, strife from place to place, war, social disorder, etc. are all signs of the last days given by the Lord Jesus Christ. (Matthew chapter 24). To guide us through these situations and get through them safely, we all need the guidance of the Bible.

God has provided us with the means to escape from the coming calamities. By believing in the Lord Jesus Christ and voluntarily submitting our lives to Him, we also gain the guidance and ability to make good use of this priceless, wonderful, unique resource of God, that He has placed in our hands. Now it is everyone's personal decision to accept this grace of God, and to take advantage of it, or to reject it and continue in our own destructive ways. Those who will accept and obey the Bible as the Word of God; Accept the Lord Jesus Christ, the central figure of the Bible, as their Savior and will live according to His instructions, they will be blessed with a safe entry into the hereafter, and will be saved from eternal destruction.

If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord, make your decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now to ensure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Repenting of your sins, and asking the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily and sincerely, surrendering yourself to Him - is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life.  Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.
