कुछ संबंधित प्रश्न और उनके उत्तर (ज़ारी)
पिछले लेख में हमने देखा था कि उद्धार कभी खोया या गँवाया नहीं जा सकता है, वह अनन्तकालीन ही है; किन्तु उद्धार पाया हुआ व्यक्ति यदि पाप में बना रहे, तो उसे न केवल पृथ्वी पर ताड़ना सहनी पड़ती है, वरन उसके स्वर्गीय प्रतिफलों पर भी उसके पापों का प्रतिकूल प्रभाव पड़ता है; और कुछ ऐसे लोग भी होंगे जो अपनी इस लापरवाही के व्यवहार के कारण स्वर्ग में छूछे हाथ प्रवेश करेंगे - वे अपने उद्धार को तो नहीं गँवाएंगे, किन्तु अपनी आशीषों और प्रतिफलों को गँवा देंगे, और फिर अपना स्वर्गीय अनन्तकाल खाली हाथ ही बिताएंगे। पाप और उद्धार से संबंधित सामान्यतः पूछे जाने वाले प्रश्नों की शृंखला में आज हम इसी विषय से संबंधित एक और प्रश्न पर विचार करते हैं।
प्रश्न: क्या उद्धार पाया हुआ व्यक्ति पाप कर सकता है? यदि वह करे तो उसका क्या परिणाम और समाधान है?
उत्तर: जैसा हमने उद्धार या नया जन्म पाने के विषय में देखा था, उद्धार या नया जन्म पाना उस व्यक्ति के जीवन में एक आजीवन ज़ारी रहने वाली प्रक्रिया का केवल आरंभ मात्र है। उद्धार पाते ही व्यक्ति सिद्ध नहीं हो जाता है, वरन प्रभु यीशु मसीह का उसके वचन की आज्ञाकारिता में अनुसरण करते जाने के द्वारा वह मसीही विश्वास और प्रभु की शिष्यता के जीवन में परिपक्व होता चला जाता है, प्रभु यीशु की समानता में अधिकाधिक ढलता चला जाता है। परमेश्वर का वचन हमें एक अद्भुत, अनपेक्षित, किन्तु बहुत सांत्वना देने वाले तथ्य से भी अवगत करवाता है - प्रभु यीशु के साथ रहने और चलने वाले शिष्य भी सिद्ध नहीं थे; उनसे भी पाप हो जाता था; उन्हें भी अपने पापों के लिए प्रभु से क्षमा और बहाली माँगनी पड़ती थी! बाइबल के कुछ पदों को देखिए:
प्रेरित यूहन्ना ने लिखा: “यदि हम कहें, कि हम में कुछ भी पाप नहीं, तो अपने आप को धोखा देते हैं: और हम में सत्य नहीं” (1 यूहन्ना 1:8); “यदि कहें कि हम ने पाप नहीं किया, तो उसे झूठा ठहराते हैं, और उसका वचन हम में नहीं है” (1 यूहन्ना 1:10)। इन पदों में यूहन्ना द्वारा प्रयुक्त “हम” पर ध्यान करें - प्रेरित अपने आप को भी उन लोगों के साथ सम्मिलित कर लेता है, जिनके लिए वह यह पत्री लिख रहा है। साथ ही वह यह स्पष्ट कर देता है कि यदि कोई यह दावा करता है कि उसने पाप नहीं किया है, तो न केवल वह झूठा है, वरन परमेश्वर को भी झूठा ठहरा देता है। लेकिन साथ ही यूहन्ना समाधान भी लिखता है: “...और उसके पुत्र यीशु का लहू हमें सब पापों से शुद्ध करता है” (1 यूहन्ना 1:7); “यदि हम अपने पापों को मान लें, तो वह हमारे पापों को क्षमा करने, और हमें सब अधर्म से शुद्ध करने में विश्वासयोग्य और धर्मी है” (1 यूहन्ना 1:9)।
प्रेरित पौलुस ने लिखा, “क्योंकि मैं जानता हूं, कि मुझ में अर्थात मेरे शरीर में कोई अच्छी वस्तु वास नहीं करती, इच्छा तो मुझ में है, परन्तु भले काम मुझ से बन नहीं पड़ते। क्योंकि जिस अच्छे काम की मैं इच्छा करता हूं, वह तो नहीं करता, परन्तु जिस बुराई की इच्छा नहीं करता वही किया करता हूं। परन्तु यदि मैं वही करता हूं, जिस की इच्छा नहीं करता, तो उसका करने वाला मैं न रहा, परन्तु पाप जो मुझ में बसा हुआ है” (रोमियों 7:18-20)। अपने शरीर के पाप करने की इस प्रवृत्ति से दुखी और कुंठित होकर, जिससे उसे निरंतर जूझते रहना पड़ता है, पौलुस प्रश्न उठाता है, “मैं कैसा अभागा मनुष्य हूं! मुझे इस मृत्यु की देह से कौन छुड़ाएगा?” (रोमियों 7:24); और फिर तुरंत ही पवित्र आत्मा की अगुवाई में स्वयं ही उत्तर भी दे देता है, “सो अब जो मसीह यीशु में हैं, उन पर दण्ड की आज्ञा नहीं: क्योंकि वे शरीर के अनुसार नहीं वरन आत्मा के अनुसार चलते हैं। क्योंकि जीवन की आत्मा की व्यवस्था ने मसीह यीशु में मुझे पाप की, और मृत्यु की व्यवस्था से स्वतंत्र कर दिया” (रोमियों 8:1-2)।
इसी प्रकार नए नियम की विभिन्न मसीही मंडलियों को परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा की अगुवाई में लिखी गई पत्रियों के सभी लेखक अपनी पत्रियों में मसीही विश्वासी के जीवन में पाप की वास्तविकता के विभिन्न आयामों के विषय लिखते हैं। अर्थात वे पवित्र आत्मा की प्रेरणा में स्वीकार कर रहे हैं कि कोई भी मसीही विश्वासी इस संसार में, अपनी पाप का करने का स्वभाव रखने वाली नश्वर देह में रहते हुए पाप करने की प्रवृत्ति और संभावना से मुक्त नहीं है; सिद्ध नहीं है। सभी को उद्धार के बाद भी पाप की समस्या से जूझना पड़ता है; सभी को इसका समाधान चाहिए होता है, क्योंकि मसीही विश्वासियों और परमेश्वर का बैरी शैतान निरंतर मसीही विश्वासियों को पाप में गिराने और फँसाने के प्रयासों में लगा रहता है। इसीलिए परमेश्वर हमें आश्वस्त करता है कि जैसे ही हमें अपने पाप का बोध हो, हम उससे क्षमा माँग लें, और वह हमको क्षमा कर देगा और बहाल कर देगा; अब हमपर दण्ड की आज्ञा नहीं है, वरन प्रभु यीशु में होकर अनुग्रह और कृपा प्रदान की गई है।
तो फिर उद्धार पाने का क्या लाभ? यदि दोनों ही पाप कर सकते हैं, तो फिर उद्धार पाए हुए और न पाए हुए व्यक्ति में क्या अंतर? बहुत बड़ा और महत्वपूर्ण अंतर है - उद्धार न पाए हुए व्यक्ति के विपरीत, उद्धार पाया हुआ व्यक्ति हर परिस्थिति में सुरक्षित है; इस पृथ्वी पर भी, और स्वर्ग में भी। कुछ पदों को देखिए:
नीतिवचन 24:16 क्योंकि धर्मी चाहे सात बार गिरे तौभी उठ खड़ा होता है; परन्तु दुष्ट लोग विपत्ति में गिर कर पड़े ही रहते हैं।

एक बार फिर ध्यान करें, यह उद्धार पाए हुए व्यक्ति के लिए पाप करते रहने की छूट नहीं है; जैसा कि हम इससे पहले वाले प्रश्न के उत्तर में देख चुके हैं। वरन इसे ऐसे समझिए, जब एक शिशु खड़ा होना और चलना आरंभ करता है, तो बहुत बार लड़खड़ाता है, अस्थिर कदमों से चलता है, गिरता है, कभी-कभी चोट भी खाता है, किन्तु माता-पिता हर बार उसकी सहायता करते हैं, उसे प्रोत्साहित करते हैं, गिर जाने पर उसे उठा कर खड़ा भी करते हैं और गोदी में लेकर दुलारते और पुचकारते भी हैं। इसी प्रकार परमेश्वर पिता भी अपने आत्मिक बच्चों की सहायता करता है, उन्हें उभारता है, मार्गदर्शन करता है। किन्तु जैसे जब बच्चे उद्दंड होते हैं, बारंबार जान-बूझकर अनाज्ञाकारिता करते हैं, बुराई में पड़ते ही रहते हैं, तो फिर केवल चेतावनी देने भर से ही काम नहीं चलता है, और माता-पिता को उस उद्दंड बच्चे की ताड़ना भी करनी पड़ती है; उसी प्रकार परमेश्वर भी उद्दंडता करने वाली अपनी सन्तान की उपयुक्त ताड़ना भी करता है (इब्रानियों 12:5-11)।
जब हम मसीही विश्वासियों के प्रति पिता परमेश्वर के इस प्रेम और देखभाल, उन्हें सुरक्षित रखने, उभारने, सिखाने, और परिपक्व करने के प्रावधानों को देखते हैं, तो फिर आश्चर्य होता है कि क्यों लोग फिर भी परमेश्वर के इस अद्भुत प्रयोजन को स्वीकार नहीं करते हैं, और क्यों सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु को समर्पित होकर उसकी शरण में नहीं आ जाते हैं, स्वेच्छा से उसके शिष्य नहीं बन जाते हैं? परमेश्वर कोई कठोर दण्ड-अधिकारी नहीं है जो हमें दण्ड या ताड़ना देने के अवसर ढूँढता रहता है; वरन वह तो हमें अपने प्रेम, अनुग्रह, और कृपा का भागी बनाने के अवसरों की तलाश में रहता है। तो फिर क्यों उससे दूरी रखनी? क्यों उसके इस प्रेम भरे आह्वान को ठुकराना? प्रभु के आपके प्रति प्रमाणित किए गए प्रेम, कृपा, और अनुग्रह, तथा उसके द्वारा आपको प्रदान किए जा रहे पाप-क्षमा प्राप्त करने के अवसर के मूल्य को समझिए, और अभी इस अवसर का लाभ उठा लीजिए। आपके द्वारा स्वेच्छा से, सच्चे और पूर्णतः समर्पित मन से, अपने पापों के प्रति सच्चे पश्चाताप के साथ आपके द्वारा की गई एक छोटी प्रार्थना, “हे प्रभु यीशु मैं मान लेता हूँ कि मैंने जाने-अनजाने में, मन-ध्यान-विचार और व्यवहार में आपकी अनाज्ञाकारिता की है, पाप किए हैं। मैं मान लेता हूँ कि आपने क्रूस पर दिए गए अपने बलिदान के द्वारा मेरे पापों के दण्ड को अपने ऊपर लेकर पूर्णतः सह लिया, उन पापों की पूरी-पूरी कीमत सदा काल के लिए चुका दी है। कृपया मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मेरे मन को अपनी ओर परिवर्तित करें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें, अपने साथ कर लें” आपका सच्चे मन से लिया गया मन परिवर्तन का यह निर्णय आपके इस जीवन तथा परलोक के जीवन को आशीषित तथा स्वर्गीय जीवन बना देगा। अभी अवसर है, अभी प्रभु का निमंत्रण आपके लिए है - उसे स्वीकार कर लीजिए।

Some Related Questions and their Answers (Contd.)
In the previous article we had seen that salvation is eternal and can never be lost or revoked; but a saved or Born-Again person, if he continues in sin, then not only does he have to suffer chastening on earth, but his heavenly rewards are also adversely affected; and there will be those will enter heaven empty handed because of their careless attitude - they have not lost their salvation, but have lost their heavenly rewards because of their careless and wayward life after being saved, and will spend their eternity empty-handed. Today, in this series on common questions related to salvation, being Born-Again and sin, we will look at another question that is often raised by people.
Question: Can a saved, a Born-Again person sin? If he does sin, then what are the consequences, and what is the remedy?
Answer: As we have already seen about this, salvation and being Born-Again is just the beginning of a lifelong process in that person’s life. No one becomes perfect at the moment of being saved or Born-Again; but by continuing in fellowship with the Lord, in obedience to God’s Word, by living as a disciple of the Lord Jesus, the person continues to grow in maturity and in the likeness of the Lord Jesus. God’s Word presents to us a wonderful, unexpected, but a very reassuring fact as well - even the Disciples who lived with and learned directly from the Lord, were not perfect; they too committed sins; they too had to confess their sins to the Lord and receive forgiveness for them from Him. Consider some verses from the Bible:
The Apostle John wrote: “If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us” (1 John 1:8); “If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us” (1 John 1:10). In these verses, please note the use of “we” by John - the Apostle is also including himself, along with those to whom he is writing this letter, for the contents of his letter. Along with this he also makes it clear that if anyone claims not to have sinned, then not only is he a deceiver, but is also making God a liar. But simultaneously, John also provides the solution: “... and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin” (1 John 1:7); “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness” (1 John 1:9).
The Apostle Paul wrote about his own experiences, “For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh) nothing good dwells; for to will is present with me, but how to perform what is good I do not find. For the good that I will to do, I do not do; but the evil I will not to do, that I practice. Now if I do what I will not to do, it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells in me” (Romans 7:18-20). Frustrated and irritated at the tendency to sin present in his body, with which he has to constantly struggle, Paul raises the question “O wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from this body of death?” (Romans 7:24); and then immediately, through the Holy Spirit, also provides the answer, “There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death” (Romans 8:1-2).
Similarly, in all the letters written to the various New Testament Churches by various authors under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, all of them have written about the reality of sin in its various forms and dimensions, in the lives of Christian Believers. In other words, through the Holy Spirit of God, they are all acknowledging that any Christian Believer, living in this world and in this perishing body with the sin nature, is not free from the tendency and possibility of committing sin; none is perfect. Everyone, even after salvation, has to struggle with their sin nature, the problem of sinning; and everybody needs a solution for this. This is because the enemy of God and Christian Believers, is constantly at work to entice the Believers to sin, make them fall in sin. Therefore, God assures us that as soon as we realize having fallen into sin, we should confess it to Him, seek His forgiveness, and He will forgive and restore us; now we are no longer under condemnation of sin, the grace of the Lord Jesus has delivered us from the condemnation.
Then what is the benefit of being saved or Born-Again? If both can sin, then what difference, if any, is there between a saved and an unsaved person? There is a huge and very important difference - unlike the unsaved person, the saved person is always protected and kept safe, in this world as well as the next. Consider some verses:
Proverbs 24:16 For a righteous man may fall seven times And rise again, But the wicked shall fall by calamity.
Job 5:19 He [God] shall deliver you in six troubles, Yes, in seven no evil shall touch you.
Psalm 37:24 Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down; For the Lord upholds him with His hand.
Psalm 34:19 Many are the afflictions of the righteous, But the Lord delivers him out of them all.
Proverbs 14:32 The wicked is banished in his wickedness, But the righteous has a refuge in his death.
But take note, again, this is not a license for the saved or Born-Again person to sin with impunity; as we have already considered in detail in the preceding articles. Rather, understand this with this example, when a baby starts to stand and walk, initially he stumbles and falls many times, walks with faltering steps, even hurts himself due to the falls; but every time the parents help him, encourage him, help him to get up and walk again, and often take him in their arms and console him or pet him if he is hurt. Similarly, God the Father too helps His spiritual children, encourages them, guides them when they fall in sin. But just as when the children become impertinent, willfully disobedient, and willfully keep disobeying the parents, repeatedly keep on doing bad or forbidden things, then in such a situation, only verbal warnings do not suffice, the parents have to chasten that recalcitrant child; similarly, God too appropriately chastens His recalcitrant children (Hebrews 12:5-11).
When we see the love and care bestowed by God the Father upon His children the Christian Believers, to keep them safe, encourage them, teach them, and guide them into maturity, then it is surprising why people do not accept this wonderful provision of God for them? Why do they not voluntarily come up and accept the offer of the Lord Jesus and become His obedient, submitted disciples? God is not a strict disciplinarian, who is waiting to find an opportunity or way to punish man; rather, He is a loving Father who is always in search of opportunities to show His love, kindness, and grace towards us. Then why should anybody stay away from Him; reject His loving offer of reconciliation and fellowship? The Lord Jesus has done His part; He has made ready and available salvation with all the benefits freely to everyone; but have you accepted His offer? Have you taken His hand of love and grace extended towards you and the free gift He offers; or are you still determined to do that which no man can ever accomplish through his own efforts?
If you are still not Born Again, have not obtained salvation, have not asked the Lord Jesus for forgiveness for your sins, then you have the opportunity to do so right now. A short prayer said voluntarily with a sincere heart, with heart-felt repentance for your sins, and a fully submissive attitude, “Lord Jesus, I confess that I have disobeyed You, and have knowingly or unknowingly, in mind, in thought, in attitude, and in deeds, committed sins. I believe that you have fully borne the punishment of my sins by your sacrifice on the cross, and have paid the full price of those sins for all eternity. Please forgive my sins, change my heart and mind towards you, and make me your disciple, take me with you." God longs for your company, wants to see you blessed; but to make this possible, is your personal decision. Will you not say this prayer now, while you have the time and opportunity to do so - the decision is yours.
