        पुराने नियम में लेवी के गोत्र को परमेश्वर ने कनान में कोई भूमि आवंटित नहीं की थी; लेवी के घराने के लोगों, अर्थात लेवियों और याजक समाज का भरण-पोषण मंदिर में भेंट और चढ़ावे के लिए लाए जाने वाले पशुओं, फसलों, दश्मांशों और अन्य सामग्री द्वारा किया जाता था (गिनती 5:9; 18:24; व्यवस्थाविवरण 14:29)। इसके लिए परमेश्वर द्वारा यह निर्धारित था कि आराधनालय में भेंट करने या चढ़ाने के लिए जो भी लाया जाता था, वह चाहे पशु हो अथवा वनस्पति, उसे उत्तम गुणवत्ता का होना आनिवार्य था (लैव्यवस्था 22:18-25; 22:22)। किसी भी प्रकार का दोषयुक्त पशु या सामग्री भेंट के लिए नहीं लाई जा सकती थी; ऐसा करना परमेश्वर का अपमान करना था (मलाकी 1:8)। इसलिए यह कहा जाता है कि ‘परमेश्वर के दास’ के लिए उत्तम वस्तुएँ लानी चाहिएँ। लेकिन बात केवल इतनी ही नहीं है वरन इससे बहुत बढ़कर है; परमेश्वर ने केवल यह ही निर्धारित नहीं किया था कि उत्तम वस्तुएँ लाई जाएँ, उसने साथ ही यह भी निर्धारित करके दिया था कि क्या लाना है, कितना लाना, कब लाना है, और उसे कैसे अर्पित करना है। लेवी या याजक इन बातों को निर्धारित नहीं करते थे, वे केवल परमेश्वर द्वारा निर्धारित बातों का निर्वाह करते थे और लाई गई भेंट को स्वीकार करते थे। जब मंदिर के अधिकारियों ने परमेश्वर की निर्देशित विधि को बिगाड़ दिया, तब प्रभु यीशु ने इसके लिए उनकी भर्त्सना भी की (यूहन्ना 2:13-16; मत्ती 21:13)। किन्तु आधारभूत वास्तविकता यह थी कि जो लाया जाता था वह परमेश्वर को अर्पित करने के लिए लाया जाता था न कि याजक को देने के लिए। यद्यपि उस भेंट का प्रयोगकर्ता अन्ततः याजक या लेवी ही होता था, फिर भी जो कुछ भी आराधनालय में भेंट में चढ़ाए जाने के लिए लाया जाता था, वह विधि अनुसार परमेश्वर को चढ़ाए जाने के बाद ही याजक के उपयोग के लिए होता था। बाइबल में हम यह भी देखते हैं कि एली के पुत्रों ने परमेश्वर के इन निर्देशों की अवहेलना की और बहुत भारी दण्ड चुकाया (1 शमूएल 2:12-17, 22-25, 30-34)। इसके अतिरिक्त, याजक का यह दाय्तिव भी था कि वह परमेश्वर का दूत बनकर लोगों को परमेश्वर के वचन की सही शिक्षा भी दे (मलाकी 2:7)। कहने का तात्पर्य यह है कि निःसंदेह याजक, लोगों की उत्तम भौतिक वस्तुओं का हकदार था, परन्तु साथ ही वह उत्तम आत्मिक बातें एवँ सेवा लोगों को देने के लिए भी उतना ही उत्तरदायी भी था।

           जैसा ऊपर कहा गया है, पुराने नियम के समय में भेंट और बलिदान मंदिर में व्यवस्था की बातों को पूरा करने के अन्तर्गत, याजकों को देने के लिए नहीं परन्तु परमेश्वर को देने के लिए, अनिवार्यतः लाए जाते थे; और परमेश्वर को अर्पित होने बाद ही फिर वहाँ से याजकों में बांटे जाते थे। जबकि अब नए नियम की कलीसिया में भेंट के लिए कोई सामग्री लाने का कोई निर्देश नहीं है; यद्यपि ऐसा करना वर्जित तो नहीं है, किन्तु यह करना केवल स्वेच्छा से है, अनिवार्य नहीं है। यह बात तब में और अब में यह एक बहुत महत्वपूर्ण अन्तर है, जिसे अनदेखा नहीं किया जा सकता है। वर्तमान में जो व्यक्ति परमेश्वर के दास को कुछ दे रहा है, वह अपनी इच्छा से दे रहा है, ऐसा करने के लिए वह बाध्य नहीं है। न ही यह आवश्यक है कि अगुवे को दी जाने वाली वस्तु परमेश्वर को अर्पित भेंट समझी जाए, या परमेश्वर को अर्पित किए जाने बाद ही कलीसिया के अगुवे को दी जाए। पुराने नियम की भेंटों की तुलना में, नए नियम की कलीसियाओं में भेंट देना, पूर्णतः देने वाले पर निर्भर है (2 कुरिन्थियों 9:7)। किसी भी व्यक्ति को परमेश्वर के नाम से बाध्य करके उससे अपनी आवश्यकता के लिए कुछ ऐंठना सर्वथा अनुचित है, परमेश्वर के नाम और वचन का दुरूपयोग है।

           यदि कलीसिया का कोई अगुवा कलीसिया के लोगों से उत्तम पाने की लालसा इसलिए रखता है क्योंकि पुराने नियम में याजक, लेवी, और मंदिर के सेवक को उत्तम पहुंचता था, तो फिर उस अगुवे को पुराने नियम के उस याजक या मंदिर के सेवक के समान भौतिक संपत्ति – विशेषकर भूमि से संबंधित, न रखने, एवँ आराधनालय तथा वचन की सेवा करने से संबंधित दायित्व का भी वैसा ही निर्वाह भी करना चाहिए। अर्थात वर्तमान समय का वह अगुवा कलीसिया के लोगों से लेकर अपने लिए सांसारिक संपत्ति जोड़ने और बनाने की बजाए कलीसिया के लोगों के लिए एक आदर्श बने, और परमेश्वर के वचन का गहन अध्ययन करके परमेश्वर से ही वचन की शिक्षा प्राप्त करे, तथा परमेश्वर के लोगों को वचन की सही शिक्षाएँ भी देने के लिए तत्पर और तैयार रहे। साथ ही हम यह भी देखते हैं कि जब लेवियों और याजकों ने परमेश्वर के निर्देशों के अनुसार अपने दायित्वों का निर्वाह नहीं किया तो परमेश्वर ने उन्हें दण्ड भी दिया (यहेजकेल 34:7-19; मलाकी 2:1-9)। उसी प्रकार से वर्तमान के उन अगुवों को जो पुराने नियम के निर्देशों के आधार पर कलीसिया से उत्तम प्राप्त करना चाहते हैं, उन्हें यह ध्यान भी रखना चाहिए कि यदि वे कलीसिया में परमेश्वर की इच्छानुसार सेवकाई नहीं करेंगे तो परमेश्वर फिर उन्हें भी उन अनाज्ञाकारी याजकों और लेवियों के समान ही दण्डित भी करेगा।

           आज परमेश्वर के दास से अपेक्षित है कि वह अपने प्रथम कर्तव्य, अर्थात कलीसिया की सेवा करने में उद्यमी रहे, जैसा कि पौलुस ने अपने जीवन के उदाहरण से सिखाया है – 1 थिस्सलुनीकियों 2 अध्याय पढ़िए; यहाँ अपनी सेवकाई का वर्णन करते हुए 9 पद में पौलुस यह भी लिख रहा है कि वह किसी पर बोझ नहीं बना, वरन परिश्रम करके वह स्वयँ ही अपना भरण-पोषण करता था, और ऐसा करते हुए वह साथ ही बहुत परिश्रम तथा लगन के साथ परमेश्वर के वचन को भी सिखाता और सुनाता था  (साथ ही प्रेरितों 18:3; प्रेरितों 20:34-35; 1 कुरिन्थियों 4:12; 1 थिस्सलुनीकियों 4:11; 2 थिस्सलुनीकियों 3:8-9 भी देखें)। साथ ही, यह सिखाने के बाद कि कलीसिया को परमेश्वर के सेवकों का ध्यान करना चाहिए उनकी आवश्यकताओं को पूरा करना चाहिए, 1 कुरिन्थियों 9:15 में पौलुस अपनी सेवकाई के बदले में स्वयँ के लिए कलीसिया से कुछ लेने से स्पष्ट और बलपूर्वक मना करता है; सेवकाई के बदले लोगों से कुछ लेने की बजाए वह मर जाना अधिक उत्तम समझता है। यदि आज कलीसिया के अगुवे, या परमेश्वर के दास को परमेश्वर के वचन से उदाहरण, आधार, और आदर्श लेकर कलीसिया से कुछ भौतिक वस्तुएँ प्राप्त करने की अपेक्षा रखनी है तो फिर पुराने नियम के आधार पर क्यों? वर्तमान के लिए दिए गए नए नियम में पौलुस के उदाहरण से वे प्रेरणा और शिक्षा क्यों नहीं लेते हैं (1 कुरिन्थियों 11:1; 2 थिस्सलुनीकियों 3:9)? वे पौलुस को अपना आदर्श बनाकर उसका अनुसरण क्यों नहीं करते हैं?

           दुःख की बात है कि वर्तमान में परमेश्वर के वचन और कार्य के प्रति ऐसा अपेक्षित एवँ वाँछित समर्पण बहुत कम ही देखने को मिलता है। ऐसा इसलिए है क्योंकि लगभग सभी कलीसियाओं में परमेश्वर के नियमों और विधियों के स्थान पर, उनके डिनौमिनेशन या मत के अनुसार, मनुष्यों द्वारा, परमेश्वर के नाम से प्रतिपादित नियम और विधियाँ लागू कर दी गई हैं। अब यद्यपि कलीसिया के ऐसे प्रबंधकों को परमेश्वर के वचन को तोड़ने और उसकी अनाज्ञाकारिता करने में लेश-मात्र भी ग्लानि अथवा हिचकिचाहट नहीं होती है; फिर भी वे इस बात पर बहुत दृढ़ और कठोर रहते हैं कि उनके द्वारा दिए गए नियमों का पूर्णतः पालन हो, कोई अवहेलना न हो, अन्यथा परिणाम अच्छे नहीं होंगे। कलीसिया के सभी दायित्वों के निर्वाह के लिए नियुक्ति परमेश्वर के मानकों और उसकी विधि के अनुसार नहीं वरन मनुष्यों द्वारा स्थापित मानकों, योग्यताओं, गुणों, और डिनौमिनेशन या मत की विधियों के अनुसार की जाती है। इसीलिए कलीसिया के अगुवों के लिए यह अब परमेश्वर द्वारा उन्हें सौंपा गया दायित्व नहीं, अपितु “नौकरी” हो गया है, जिसपर उन्हें उस डिनौमिनेशन या मत के मानने वाले मनुष्यों ने नियुक्त किया है। और क्योंकि यह “नौकरी” मनुष्यों ने उन्हें मानवीय मानकों, गुणों, तथा “योग्यताओं” के आधार पर दी है, इसीलिए आज के अधिकांश अगुवे परमेश्वर को नहीं वरन अपने डिनौमिनेशन या मत के सांसारिक “अधिकारियों” को प्रसन्न करने की चेष्टा में रहते तथा कार्य करते हैं, क्योंकि वे अधिकारी न केवल उनके “नौकरी” में बने रहने को प्रभावित कर सकते हैं, वरन उनके भविष्य, उन्नति, और डिनौमिनेशन या मत के साथ जुड़ी उनकी संभावित भलाई को भी प्रभावित कर सकते हैं – यह पौलुस द्वारा गलातियों 1:10 में कही बात के साथ कैसा अद्भुत विरोधाभास प्रस्तुत करता है। इसलिए इसमें कोई अचरज की बात नहीं है कि यद्यपि वे परमेश्वर का नाम तो लेते हैं, परन्तु उनमें परमेश्वर का कोई भय नहीं है, उन्हें परमेश्वर को अपना हिसाब देने की कोई चिंता नहीं है, उन्हें सौंपी गई मण्डली के प्रति उनका केवल एक औपचारिक लगाव है, और वे परमेश्वर का नाम लेकर केवल अपना ही काम निकालना, अपनी ही इच्छाएं पूरी करना चाहते हैं। उनमें से कोई भी उनके अधिकारियों द्वारा किए जा रहे किसी भी गलत, या अनैतिक, या बाइबल की शिक्षाओं के प्रतिकूल बात के लिए न तो विरोध करता है और न ही कुछ बोलता है (गलातियों 2:11-18 के साथ तुलना कीजिए); वरन वे परमेश्वर का नाम लेते हुए औपचारिकता से काम करते रहते हैं, और उन ही ओहदों पर पहुँच कर वहाँ मिलने वाले सांसारिक लाभों का मज़ा लेने की लालसा रखते हैं (कुलुस्सियों 3:1-5 से तुलना कीजिए)। परमेश्वर का नाम और काम उनके लिए “पेट-पालने” का माध्यम बन गया है (रोमियों 16:18; फिलिप्पियों 3:19), और उनकी निष्ठा तथा समर्पण परमेश्वर के प्रति नहीं अपितु उनके सांसारिक “अधिकारियों” के प्रति हो गए हैं – पौलुस ने ऐसों को “मसीह के क्रूस के बैरी” बताया है (फिलिप्पियों 3:18)।

           यह कलीसिया के लोगों और अगुवों, दोनों को ही परमेश्वर की ओर से दी गई ज़िम्मेदारी है कि वे अपने-अपने दायित्वों के अनुसार एक दूसरे की आवश्यक्ताओं का ध्यान रखें, एक-दूसरे की आवश्यक्ताओं की पूर्ति करें, और सदा इस बात का ध्यान रखें कि एक दिन, उन्हें अपने-अपने दायित्वों के निर्वाह का उत्तर प्रभु को अवश्य ही देना होगा, और प्रभु से अपना प्रतिफल भी उसी के अनुसार लेना होगा; न तो कोई प्रभु को उत्तर देने से और न ही कोई प्रभु से अपने किए के प्रतिफल को लेने से बच सकता है । तैयार रहें; हिसाब लेने और देने का वह दिन शीघ्र ही आने वाला है।

        यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु, मैं अपने पापों के लिए पश्चातापी हूँ, उनके लिए आप से क्षमा माँगता हूँ। मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मुझे और मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

English Translation

Pastors Seeking Worldly Things from Church Congregations (2)

        In the Old Testament the tribe of Levi had not been allotted any land in Canaan; the descendants of Levi, i.e. the Priests and Levites met their needs from the offerings and donations brought by the people to the Temple, to offer to God, in form of animals, crops, tithes and other things (Numbers 5:9; 18:24; Deuteronomy 14:29). It had been decreed by God that those who brought their offerings to the Temple, whether it was animal or crops, had to bring them of a good quality (Leviticus 22:18-25; 22:22). No defective animal or object could be brought as an offering; to do so was to insult God (Malachi 1:8). Therefore, the idea has developed that things of a good quality should be brought for the Church Elder or Care-taker. But there is far more to it; God had not only decreed that only good things be brought for His offerings, but had also decreed what was to be brought, how much had to be brought, when it was to be brought, and how it had to be offered. The Levites or the Priests were not the ones to decide about these things, they could only act upon and accept that which had been decreed by God. In Jesus’ time, since the Temple officials had corrupted God’s instructions, we see that the Lord Jesus severely reprimanded them (John 2:13-16; Matthew 21:13). But the basic fact was that whatever was brought, was brought to be offered to God; it was never brought with the intention of giving to the priest. Even though the Priest was the end recipient, still whatever was brought to the Temple as an offering was provided to the Priest only after it had first been offered to God. We see in the Bible that when the sons of Eli transgressed God’s commands regarding this, they as well as their father, all had to pay a very heavy price for their misdemeanor (1 Samuel 2:12-17, 22-25, 30-34). In addition, the Priest, as God’s spokesman, was also under and obligation to teach the people the Word of God correctly (Malachi 2:7). In other words, undoubtedly, while the Priest was deserving of good quality physical things from the people, he was also equally responsible to impart good quality spiritual services and teachings to the people.

           As stated above, in the Old Testament times the gifts and offerings brought to the Temple were brought to fulfill the Law; not to give to the priests but to offer to the Lord; and only once they had been offered to the Lord could they be distributed to the priests. Whereas now, in the New Testament there is no instruction to bring any such offering into the Church; although not forbidden, but doing this is voluntary, not compulsory, nowadays. This is a very significant difference between then and now, and it cannot be overlooked or ignored. Presently, whoever is giving anything to a God’s servant is doing so voluntarily, he is under no compulsion to do so. Neither is it in any way necessary that the thing given to the Elder should be considered as something offered to God, or that the thing should first be offered to God and only then be accepted by the Elder. In the New Testament Churches, unlike offerings of the Old Testament, the giving of any offerings is entirely dependent upon the person wanting to give it (2 Corinthians 9:7). To compel any person to make an offering in the name of God, and to thus use the people for providing the desires of the Church leader is a misuse of God’s name and His Word.

           If any Elder or leader of the Church expects to receive good quality things from the people of the Church because in the Old Testament times the Priests, Levites and those serving in the Temple received the good quality things, then that Elder or Church leader should also, like the Priest or Levite of the Old Testament, refrain from possessing worldly things especially related to possessing land, and they should also fulfill their responsibilities towards the House of God and the Word of God just as the Priests and Levites used to do at that time. Therefore, that Elder or Church leader, instead of acquiring worldly possessions and physical abundance from the people of the Church, should first strive to be a spiritual model and mentor for the people of the Church. Hence, he should spend time diligently studying and learning the Word of God from the Lord, and providing factual and correct teachings to the people. We also see that when the priests and Levites did not fulfill their responsibilities as per the instructions of the Lord, then the Lord also penalized them (Ezekiel 34:7-19; Malachi 2:1-9). Similarly, those Elders and Church leaders who desire to receive good quality things from the people on the basis of the instructions given to the Old Testament people of God, should also be careful to see that if they do not serve the Church as per the instructions of the Lord, then they too will be penalized just as the disobedient priests and Levites had been penalized.

           Today it is expected from the servant of the Lord serving as a Care-taker of the Church, to be diligent in his primary responsibility of serving the Church of God, as Paul has taught from the example of his own life. Study 1 Thessalonians, chapter 2; here in verse 9, Paul is writing that in his missionary services of preaching and Church planting, he never became a burden upon anyone; he used to labor to earn to provide for his needs, and while doing this he also taught the Word of God diligently and devotedly (also see Acts 18:3; 20:34-35; 1 Corinthians 4:12; 1 Thessalonians 4:11; 2 Thessalonians 3:8-9). Also, after teaching that the Church should look after and provide for the needs of those working for the service of the Lord amongst them, Paul in 1 Corinthians 9:15 goes on to clearly and emphatically refuse seeking for or accepting anything from the Church in lieu of his spiritual services rendered to them; so much so, that he prefers to die rather than take something from the Church for his work amongst them. If today an Elder, or a Care-taker of the Church, on the basis of examples and instances from God’s Word desires to receive some physical and worldly things from the Church, then why should he make the Old Testament the basis for this? Why don’t they take Paul as an example and model from the present day applicable New Testament teachings, and learn from him, emulate him (1 Corinthians 11:1; 2 Thessalonians 3:9)?

           Quite sadly, nowadays, such desired and expected commitment to God’s Word and work is rarely seen. This is because in nearly all the Churches, the instructions and decrees of God for the people and leaders of the Churches have been replaced by denominational laws, rules and ways that have been decided by men in the name of God, and applied to be followed in the Churches. And while these Church managers have no hesitation or remorse for their breaching and disobeying God’s Laws for His Churches; yet they are very particular and rigid in their stand that their given rules and laws should not be breached or neglected, else dire consequences will follow. To fulfill the responsibilities related to the functioning of the Church people are now appointed not according to God’s standards and instructions but according to standards, qualifications, criteria and methods determined by men. Therefore the Leaders and Care-takers of the Church hardly ever see it as a God given responsibility, but more often they see this responsibility as a “job” to which they have been appointed by certain men, in a certain Denomination or Sect. And since this “job” has been given to them based on certain man determined criteria, qualifications, and “abilities,” therefore most of the Care-takers of the Churches live and work to please not God but their denominational human officials and superiors who not only have appointed them, but can also influence not only their continuing in their “job” but also their future prospects, promotions, and their welfare in the denomination where they are employed – what a striking contrast to Paul’s statement of Galatians 1:10. So it is no surprise that though they use the name of God, they have no fear of God, no sense of accountability to God, and only a perfunctory concern for their congregation; their primary concern is to serve and satisfy their officials, and fulfill their own needs and purposes through the congregation. None of them dares to point out or speak up against anything wrong, unethical, or unBiblical being asked or done by their superiors (compare with Galatians 2:11-18); rather, while perfunctorily serving in the name of God they aspire and strive to reach those positions of authority and superiority by any means – fair or foul, so that they too can enjoy the worldly benefits of that position (compare with Colossians 3:1-5). God’s name and service has become a means to serve their own bellies for them (Romans 16:18; Philippians 3:19), and their commitment and sincerity has come to be directed not towards God and His Word but towards their worldly, human officers and superiors – Paul has called them “enemies of the Cross of Christ” (Philippians 3:18).

           It is the God given responsibility of the Church congregation as well as of the Care-takers of the Churches that both sides fulfill their God ordained obligations towards each-other and meet each-other’s physical and spiritual needs; always bearing in mind that one day they will have to answer to the Lord for the fulfillment of their responsibilities. No one can escape having to give an account to the Lord, nor can anyone escape receiving due rewards – good or bad, for what they have done, or not done. Be ready; the day of reckoning is coming soon.

        If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord, make your decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now to ensure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Repenting of your sins, and asking the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily and sincerely, surrendering yourself to Him - is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life.  Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." प्रश्न: 

    क्या चर्च के पादरी, या अगुवों और प्राचीनों का चर्च के लोगों से उत्तम वस्तुओं की माँग करना बाइबल के अनुसार उचित है?

 उत्तर:

           आज जिन्हें पास्टर, या अगुवे, या परमेश्वर के दास कहा जाता है, मूल यूनानी भाषा में उनके लिए नए नियम में प्रयुक्त शब्द का शब्दार्थ है “चरवाहा”, जिसे “रखवाला” भी कहा गया है। आरंभिक कलीसिया में इस सेवकाई, तथा कलीसिया के प्रबंधन से संबंधित अन्य दायित्वों के निर्वाह के लिए उपयुक्त लोगों को स्वयं परमेश्वर ही नियुक्त करके देता था (प्रेरितों 20:28; 1 कुरिन्थियों 12:28; इफिसियों 4:11)। उस समय न तो कोई बाइबल स्कूल अथवा कॉलेज थे, न ही थियोलोजी या धर्म-ज्ञान की कोई डिग्री की कोई आवशयकता थी, जिसके आधार पर कलीसिया के दायित्व सौंपे जाएँ। कलीसिया के कार्यों के लिए अगुवाई करने की नियुक्ति परमेश्वर अपने मानकों के आधार पर, और व्यक्ति के मसीही विश्वास में सत्यनिष्ठा और दृढ़ता तथा परमेश्वर के प्रति समर्पण के आधार पर करके देता था। परमेश्वर द्वारा कलीसिया की अगुवाई के लिए दायित्वों का यह निर्धारण किसी मनुष्य की किसी भी सांसारिक योग्यता, या उसके अध्ययन-स्तर, समाज में स्थान, उसकी आयु, वरिष्ठता और अनुभव, अथवा अन्य किसी सांसारिक आधार पर नहीं किया जाता था। जैसे-जैसे सुसमाचार का प्रचार और प्रसार हुआ तथा विश्वासी जन अपने मसीही विश्वास में परिपक्व तथा दृढ़ होते गए, तब परमेश्वर ने इन आरंभिक अगुवों को कुछ माप-दण्ड सौंप कर, उनके आधार पर कलीसिया के अगुवे नियुक्त करने के लिए कहा (प्रेरितों 14:23; तीतुस 1:5-9; 1 तिमुथियुस 3:1-7); ये अध्यक्ष, या अगुवे, कलीसिया की आवश्यकतानुसार, एक से अधिक भी हो सकते थे (फिलिप्पियों 1:1)। वर्तमान में देखी जाने वाली प्रवृत्तियां, एक तो यह कि किसी शैक्षिक योग्यता, सांसारिक हैसियत, या वोट प्राप्त कर लेने के आधार पर, कलीसिया का अगुवा बनना; तथा दूसरी यह, कि कलीसिया की उन्नति एवँ देखभाल करने को केवल कुछ ही लोगों का दायित्व समझना, ये न तो परमेश्वर से हैं और न ही बाइबल में दी गई विधि हैं, वरन यह भ्रष्ट मनुष्यों द्वारा परमेश्वर की विधियों में लाए गए बिगाड़ से आई हुई प्रथा है।

           साथ ही, एक अन्य बहुत महत्वपूर्ण पहलू है जिसका ध्यान रखना और उस पर गहन विचार करना अत्यंत आवश्यक है; वह है कलीसिया में कुछ लोगों की ज़िम्मेदार पदों पर नियुक्ति का अर्थ यह नहीं है कि मण्डली के शेष लोगों को कलीसिया और विश्वास से संबंधित दायित्वों में कोई रुचि लेने की आवश्यकता नहीं है। कलीसिया के आरंभ से ही सभी मसीही विश्वासियों को “राजपद धारी याजकों का समाज” माना गया है (1 पतरस 2:9), परमेश्वर के लिए निर्धारित “याजक” कहा गया है (प्रकाशितवाक्य 1:6), जो कि पुराने नियम से लिया गया विचार और ओहदा है, जिसके अन्तर्गत नियुक्त व्यक्ति परमेश्वर का सेवक और परमेश्वर की बातों को लोगों तक पहुँचाने वाला होता था। इससे यह प्रगट है कि परमेश्वर की कलीसिया में परमेश्वर का “याजक” होना और परमेश्वर के लिए कार्य करना केवल किसी नियुक्त अध्यक्ष या अगुवे ही का दायित्व नहीं है, वरन परमेश्वर की दृष्टि में उसका प्रत्येक नया जन्म पाया हुआ विश्वासी जन “याजक” है, और उसे वैसे ही कार्य भी करना है। और जैसे याजकों के लिए न केवल परमेश्वर के प्रति समर्पित होना अनिवार्य था, परन्तु उन्हें परमेश्वर के वचन में दृढ़ और स्थापित भी होना होता था, वैसे ही आज प्रत्येक मसीही विश्वासी को भी ऐसा ही होना है – ने केवल परमेश्वर के प्रति समर्पित परन्तु पमेश्वर के वचन में दृढ़ और स्थापित भी। वास्तविकता यही है कि यही परमेश्वर के प्रति उनके प्रेम और समर्पण की एकमात्र पहचान है (यूहन्ना 14:21, 23-24), इसके अतिरिक्त व्यक्ति के परमेश्वर के प्रति समर्पित होने की और कोई पहचान बाइबल में नहीं दी गई है (1 यूहन्ना 2:3-6)। इस बात पर थोड़ा रुक कर गंभीरता से विचार कीजिए, कि यदि परमेश्वर की प्रत्येक नया जन्म पाई हुई सन्तान परमेश्वर का “याजक” होने के नाते, परमेश्वर के वचन में दृढ़ और स्थापित होने के लिए सच्ची लगन के साथ परिश्रम और प्रयास करे, तो क्या कोई भी गलत और झूठी शिक्षा का देने वाला या गलत “अगुवा” अपने गलत शिक्षाओं और बातों के द्वारा परमेश्वर के लोगों को बहका या बरगला सकेगा, जैसा के आज इतना अधिकाई से हो रहा है? और यह भी सोचिए कि तब कलीसिया कितनी सामर्थी और प्रभावी हो जाएगी!

           क्योंकि सभी मसीही विश्वासी परमेश्वर के “याजक” भी हैं, इसीलिए, परमेश्वर ने अपने सभी “याजकों,” अर्थात मसीही विश्वासियों के लिए कोई न कोई सेवकाई भी निर्धारित की है (इफिसियों 2:10), जिससे न केवल वह विश्वासी वरन संपूर्ण मण्डली भी लाभान्वित हो सके। तथा उस सेवकाई  के द्वारा, कलीसिया में सभी के लाभ के लिए, परमेश्वर ने प्रत्येक मसीही विश्वासी को कुछ न कुछ गुण या वरदान भी दिए हैं (रोमियों 12:4-8; 1 कुरिन्थियों 12:4-11), जिनके सदुपयोग के द्वारा कलीसिया उन्नति करे, कलीसिया के लोग प्रभु के लिए एक प्रभावी गवाह बनें, और उद्धार के सुसमाचार का प्रसार हो। इसलिए कलीसिया की उन्नति, सुचारू कार्य, कलीसिया की बातों के उचित प्रबंधन, और कलीसिया की आवश्यकताओं और दायित्वों के सही निर्वाह के लिए, प्रत्येक “याजक” अर्थात प्रत्येक मसीही विश्वासी को भी कलीसिया में अवश्य ही सक्रीय एवँ संलग्न रहना चाहिए।

           आरंभिक कलीसिया में अगुवे कलीसिया पर शासन या अधिकार रखने के लिए नहीं, वरन कलीसिया की सेवा के लिए होते थे। पतरस ने अपनी पहली पत्री में, प्रभु यीशु मसीह को “प्रधान रखवाला” कहा है, और कलीसियाओं पर नियुक्त किए गए “रखवालों” को कलीसिया के लोगों की सेवा के लिए निर्देश दिए हैं: “तुम में जो प्राचीन हैं, मैं उन की नाईं प्राचीन और मसीह के दुखों का गवाह और प्रगट होने वाली महिमा में सहभागी हो कर उन्हें यह समझाता हूं। कि परमेश्वर के उस झुंड की, जो तुम्हारे बीच में हैं रखवाली करो; और यह दबाव से नहीं, परन्तु परमेश्वर की इच्छा के अनुसार आनन्द से, और नीच-कमाई के लिये नहीं, पर मन लगा कर। और जो लोग तुम्हें सौंपे गए हैं, उन पर अधिकार न जताओ, वरन झुंड के लिये आदर्श बनो। और जब प्रधान रखवाला प्रगट होगा, तो तुम्हें महिमा का मुकुट दिया जाएगा, जो मुरझाने का नहीं” (1 पतरस 5:1-4)। इस खण्ड से स्पष्ट है कि अगुवों, या चरवाहों, या रखवालों को कलीसिया की सेवा करने वाला होना है, न कि कलीसिया से सेवा लेने वाला। अगुवे को कलीसिया के लोगों को परमेश्वर के वचन और आत्मिक जीवन की सही शिक्षा देनी है, उनके लिए आदर्श बनना है, उनकी सहायता एवं मार्गदर्शन करना है, उन पर अधिकार या रौब नहीं जताना है, और न ही उन्हें सांसारिक वस्तुओं की कमाई का माध्यम बनाना है। सच्चा अगुवा या रखवाला वही है जो परमेश्वर द्वारा दिए गए उपरोक्त निर्देशों को मानता है और प्रभु के भय में अपने झुण्ड की देखभाल और रखवाली करता है, अपने झुण्ड से सांसारिक वस्तुएँ कमाने के लिए नहीं वरन परमेश्वर द्वारा उसे सौंपे गए दाय्तिवों के निर्वाह के लिए, इस एहसास के साथ कि एक दिन उस झुण्ड की स्थिति और सलामती का सारा हिसाब-किताब उसे प्रभु को अवश्य ही देना होगा, क्योंकि प्रभु सभी से यह हिसाब बुलाकर लेगा (मत्ती 25:19), बचेगा कोई नहीं।

           कलीसिया के लोगों की भी ज़िम्मेदारी है कि जो लोग प्रभु की ओर से उनमें सेवकाई के लिए नियुक्त किए गए हैं, और उस सेवकाई का निर्वाह कर रहे हैं, उनकी बिना किसी संकोच या हिचकिचाहट के, ठीक से देखभाल करे और उनकी भौतिक आवश्यकताओं की पूर्ति का ध्यान रखे (1 कुरिन्थियों 9:1-14; गलातियों 6:6; 1 थिस्सलुनीकियों 5:12-13; 1 तिमुथियुस 5:17-18; इब्रानियों 13:7, 17)। यहाँ ध्यान की जाने वाली एक महत्वपूर्ण बात यह है कि बाइबल के इन सभी हवालों में यह बात व्यक्त अथवा निहित है कि पहला दायित्व सेवक द्वारा कलीसिया की उचित एवँ उपयुक्त देखभाल करने का है, जिसके प्रत्युत्तर में कलीसिया के लोगों को उस सेवक की देखभाल करने के लिए कहा गया है। अर्थात सेवक का पहला कर्तव्य है कलीसिया को देना – अपना समय, अपने गुण या योग्यताएँ, उसे प्रदान की गई वचन की समझ एवँ ज्ञान, कलीसिया के लोगों की सेवा, आदि। और फिर अपनी उसी सेवा के आधार पर ही वह कलीसिया के लोगों से अपनी भौतिक आव्श्यक्ताओं की पूर्ति करने की अपेक्षा रख तो सकता है। किन्तु लोगों से ऐसा करने की माँग करना या ऐसा करने के लिए कलीसिया के लोगों को बाध्य करना बाइबल में कहीं नहीं दिया गया है; पुराने नियम में भी नहीं।

    यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु, मैं अपने पापों के लिए पश्चातापी हूँ, उनके लिए आप से क्षमा माँगता हूँ। मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मुझे और मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

English Translation

Pastors Seeking Worldly Things from Church Congregations (1)

Question: 

    Is it Biblical for Church Pastors, or Elders and Leaders to ask for worldly things from the Church members, and that too of a superior quality?

Answer:

           In the New Testament, for those who are known as Pastors, or Church Leaders, or Elders, or God's Servants today, the word used in the original Greek language, literally means "Shepherd", or "Care-taker". In the initial Church for this service, and for other responsibilities related to managing the functioning of the Church, it was God who appointed the appropriate persons (Acts 20:28; 1 Corinthians 12:28; Ephesians 4:11). In those days neither were there any Bible Schools or Colleges, nor was there any necessity of any Theological or Religious educational degree as pre-requisites for taking responsibilities in the Church. God used to raise up and appoint people for working in His Church according to His own standards, and based on the person's sincerity and commitment to the Christian faith. This entrusting of responsibility by God was not on the basis of the person's worldly status, educational qualifications, standing in the society, age or seniority and experience, or any other worldly considerations. As the Gospel spread and the Christian Believers continued to mature and grow in faith, God too then passed on the responsibility of appointing the Church Leaders or Care-takers to those faithful and committed persons whom He had initially appointed as leaders; but they were to do so based upon the standards and criteria that God had provided to them for this purpose, (Acts 14:23; Titus 1:5-9; 1 Timothy 3:1-7). Depending upon the needs of the given Church, these Elders or Leaders, could be one or more than one (Philippians 1:1). The current trends, firstly of becoming a leader or an Elder in the Church by virtue of some educational qualification, worldly status, or through garnering votes in an election, and secondly the belief that looking after the Church and working for it’s progress is the responsibility of only a few individuals, are neither from God nor Biblical; rather they are a corruption of God’s ways that has been brought in by unregenerate men.

           Moreover, another very important aspect to be noted and seriously pondered upon is that the appointment of certain people to positions of responsibility in the Church does not mean the exclusion of the rest of the congregation from being involved in Church and Faith related responsibilities. From the very beginning, all Christian Believers have been called "a Royal Priesthood" (1 Peter 2:9), and "Priests" to God (Revelation 1:6), drawing upon the Old Testament terminology and office of being appointed to serve God and convey God’s Word and instructions to people in general. Therefore it is evident that to be a "Priest" of God in the Church of God is not just the responsibility of an Elder or Pastor; rather, in God's eyes, each and every one of His Born Again children is a "Priest" and has to function so. And just as for the Old Testament priests it was essential not only to be committed to God, but also to be rooted and established in God's Word, similarly today each Christian Believer too should not only be committed to the Lord but also be rooted and established in God's Word. Actually speaking, being rooted and established in God's Word, i.e. loving God’s Word, is the one and only sign of a person’s being committed to the Lord and of loving Him, as stated by the Lord Jesus (John 14:21, 23-24); other than this no other sign of recognizing a person’s commitment to the Lord has been given in the Bible (1 John 2:3-6). Give it a thought, if every child of God diligently spent time and effort in learning and being rooted in God’s Word as a “Priest” to God, would any false teacher or “leader” be able to beguile and mislead God’s people through false teachings and wrong doctrines, as is so often happening today? And, how strong and effective would the Church then become!

           Since all Christian Believers are also God’s Priests, therefore, God has kept some service or the other for each and every one of His 'Priests', i.e. the Christian Believers (Ephesians 2:10); so that through that service not only the Believer but also the whole Church may get benefited. To enable every Believer to carry out and fulfill his appointed service, every Christian Believer has been given some talent or gift by God (Romans 12:4-8; 1 Corinthians 12:4-11), so that by putting that gift to good use the Church may progress, the people of the Church may be effective witnesses for the Lord, and the Gospel may spread. Hence for the growth, functioning, managing of Church affairs, and fulfilling the various needs and responsibilities in the Church, every “Priest” i.e. every Christian Believer should be actively involved in the Church.

           In the early Church the Elders and Leaders of the Church were not placed there for ruling over the Church or for using the Church for personal gains, instead they were there to serve the Church. Peter in his first letter, has called the Lord Jesus the "Chief Shepherd", and has instructed those appointed as "shepherds" over the Church to serve the people: “The elders who are among you I exhort, I who am a fellow elder and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, and also a partaker of the glory that will be revealed: Shepherd the flock of God which is among you, serving as overseers, not by compulsion but willingly, not for dishonest gain but eagerly; nor as being lords over those entrusted to you, but being examples to the flock; and when the Chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the crown of glory that does not fade away” (1 Peter 5:1-4). It is evident from this section that the Elders or shepherds of the Church were to be those who served the people of the Church, not those who received services from the people of the Church. The Elders or Care-takers in the Church ought to give the people of the Church true and factual teachings about God's Word and spiritual living, they should be a model for the people to emulate, they have to help and guide the people in learning and following the truth. The Elders or Leaders should neither exercise authority over the congregation, nor domineer over them for personal gains and benefits, nor use them as a means of acquiring worldly possessions. A true Elder or Care-taker is one who follows the instructions given by the Lord and takes care of his flock in the fear of the Lord; not to earn worldly possessions through them but to fulfill his God given responsibilities, with the realization that one day he surely will have to give an answer to the Lord about the state and welfare of his flock, because the Lord will summon everyone to receive an account (Matthew 25:19), no one will escape their accountability.

           It is the responsibility of the people of the Church as well to ensure that those who have been appointed for Church related services over them, and are also fulfilling their responsibilities, are properly looked after and their needs are met without any reluctance or hesitation by the congregation (1 Corinthians 9:1-14; Galatians 6:6; 1 Thessalonians 5:12-13; 1 Timothy 5:17-18; Hebrews 13:7, 17). An important point to be noted in each of these references from the Bible is that it is either stated or implied here that the first responsibility is of the Care-taker to provide an appropriate and proper fulfilling of his responsibilities towards the Church; and in response to that service, the people of the Church have been asked to look after that Care-taker and meet his needs. In other words, it is first the responsibility of the Elder or Leader to give to the Church – his time, his utilization of God given talents and abilities, the understanding and knowledge of God's Word granted to him, etc. to serve the people. Only then, in accordance with his services rendered should he expect the people of the Church to look after him and meet his needs. But at no place in the Bible, not even in the Old Testament, has it been stated or shown that the Care-taker can make demands on the people, or can compel the people of the Church to do something for him.

    If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord, make your decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now to ensure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Repenting of your sins, and asking the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily and sincerely, surrendering yourself to Him - is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life.  Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.

    प्रभु यीशु में हमारे विश्वास का प्राथमिक आधार प्रभु का वचन होना चाहिए, न कि उसके नाम में किए गए आश्चर्य कर्म। प्रभु यीशु ने अपनी सेवकाई का आरंभ प्रचार के द्वारा किया था, न कि आश्चर्य कर्मों के द्वारा (मरकुस 1:14-15)। जब प्रभु यीशु ने अपने बारह शिष्यों को चुना, उन्हें सामर्थ्य प्रदान की और उन्हें अपने प्रतिनिधि बनाकर उनकी प्रथम सेवकाई के लिए भेजा, तब प्रभु द्वारा उन्हें दी गई प्राथमिक आज्ञा थी कि वे जा कर प्रचार करें कि स्वर्ग का राज्य निकट है; आश्चर्य कर्म करने के लिए कहना प्रचार के बाद था (मत्ती 10:1, 5-8; मरकुस 3:14-15)। यहाँ पर ध्यान देने के लिए यह महत्वपूर्ण बात है कि जो उन आश्चर्य कर्मों के लिए संदेह करेंगे उनके विरुद्ध कुछ नहीं कहा गया है, परन्तु जो उस वचन का तिरस्कार करें उनके लिए एक भयानक भविष्य रखा है (मत्ती 10:14-15)। यहाँ पर एक और भी ध्यान देने योग्य महत्वपूर्ण बात है जिसे प्रभु यीशु ने उस समय के लिए कहा यदि ये शिष्य उनकी सेवकाई के कारण उच्च अधिकारियों के सामने ले जाए जाते। प्रभु ने उन्हें आश्वस्त किया कि ऐसी परिस्थिति में उनके बचाव के लिए, उन्हें पवित्र आत्मा की सामर्थ्य द्वारा, बता दिया जाएगा कि क्या ‘कहें’, बजाय इसके कि क्या आश्चर्य कर्म ‘करें’ (मत्ती 10:18-20).

    आश्चर्य कर्म तो शैतान, उसके दूत, और उसका अनुसरण करने वाले भी कर सकते हैं (निर्गमन 7:11-12, 22; 8:7; प्रेरितों 16:16-18; 2 थिस्सलुनीकियों 2:9-10; प्रकाशितवाक्य 13:11-15), और यदि व्यक्ति परमेश्वर के वचन – “सत्य” में दृढ़ता से स्थापित न हो, तो शैतान के धोखों और अद्भुत चिन्हों द्वारा बहकाए जाने के द्वारा उन के विनाश में जाने का खतरा बना रहता है, उसी विनाश में जिसमें इस प्रकार के चिन्ह और अद्भुत कार्य करने वाले अंततः जाएंगे (प्रकाशितवाक्य 19:20; 20:10).

    इसलिए हमारे लिए यह सुनिश्चित कर लेना अनिवार्य है कि परमेश्वर और प्रभु यीशु मसीह में हमारा विश्वास किसी चिन्ह अथवा आश्चर्य कर्म आदि पर आधारित नहीं है वरन परमेश्वर के वचन – जो अचूक और दोषरहित है, पर विश्वास लाने और भरोसा रखने पर आधारित है। हमें परमेश्वर के वचन बाइबल  को प्रार्थना सहित पढ़ने और उस पर मनन करने में समय बिताना चाहिए,और उसमें होकर परमेश्वर से मार्गदर्शन के खोजी होना चाहिए (1 शमुएल 3:21; भजन 119:105)। परमेश्वर के वचन में दृढ़ और स्थापित होना ही शैतान के द्वारा बहकाए जाने से बचे रहने का अचूक उपाय है – इसके लिए कुलुस्सियों 2 पर भी मनन करें।

English Translation

Primary Basis of Belief in the Lord – Miracles or God’s Word?

    The primary basis of our belief in the Lord Jesus ought to be His Word, not miracles done in His name. The Lord Jesus started His ministry with preaching, not miracles (Mark 1:14-15). When the Lord Jesus chose twelve of His disciples, empowered them and sent them out on their first mission as His emissaries, the Lord’s primary instruction to them was to go and preach that the Kingdom of heaven is at hand; to perform miracles was the secondary instruction (Matthew 10:1, 5-8; Mark 3:14-15). Here it is also important to note that although nothing is said against those who would be skeptical about the miracles, but those who rejected the Word had a terrible fate awaiting them (Matthew 10:14-15). Another important thing to note here is what the Lord said to those disciples in the event of their being brought before high ranking officials because of their ministry for the Lord Jesus. The Lord assured them that for their defense in such a situation, through the power of the Holy Spirit, they will told what to ‘say’, rather than being given a miracle to ‘do’ (Matthew 10:18-20).

    Read John 17, the High Priestly prayer of the Lord, which He prayed before His being taken captive for crucifixion. See in this prayer how He repeatedly emphasizes upon the Word that He gave to His disciples, which they were to pass on to others in their ministry. At the time of His ascension to heaven, The Great Commission that the Lord gave to His disciples, was to go and preach the Word He had given them (Matthew 28:18-20; Acts 1:8). The first Church was born by the preaching of Peter in Acts 2, not by any miracles – the miracle of ‘tongues’ brought consternation amongst those present and witnessing the miracle, not faith; it was the preaching of the Word that brought repentance, faith and salvation. We see later, that those Christian Believers who were being persecuted and chased out of Jerusalem, went out preaching the Word (Acts 8:1-4). Paul emphasizes to Timothy that it is the Word of God that is to be judiciously taught (2 Timothy 2:2, 15) for it is the Word that is able to make wise for salvation through faith (2 Timothy 3:14-17).

    The Lord Jesus is the Word; the Word with God; the Word was God; the Word that became flesh and dwelt amongst us (John 1:1, 14) – He, the Living Word is the object and basis of the Christian faith. Miracles are not the basis of faith, rather they are meant to be signs to affirm the Word or Gospel that is preached to the people (Mark 16:15-20); it is the Word of God that has always been the basis of the Christian faith. Therefore Satan always tries to draw us away from God’s Word, and to this end using miraculous signs and wonders as the basis of faith serve his purpose to beguile and deceive quite well. People, instead of being involved in studying God’s Word and being obedient to the word, get caught up either in the desire to be those who perform miracles, or in the expectations of being benefited through miracles, or to gain a name and fame through performing miracles.

    Even Satan, his angels, and his followers can perform miracles (Exodus 7:11-12, 22; 8:7; Acts 16:16-18; 2 Thessalonians 2:9-10; Revelations 13:11-15), and unless one is firmly established in the Word of God – “the Truth”, people are prone to get carried away to their destruction by these satanic deceptions and lying wonders, just as those who perform these deceiving signs and wonders will eventually perish (Revelation 19:20; 20:10).

    Therefore it is essential to see that the basis of our belief and faith in God and Lord Jesus is not on the basis of any signs and miracles etc. but through believing and trusting in His Word – which is infallible and inerrant. We need to spend time prayerfully reading, and meditating upon the Word of God – the Bible, and seeking the Lord’s guidance through it (1 Samuel 3:21; Psalms 119:105). Being established in God’s Word is our only sure-shot safety and security against being deceived by Satan – ponder over Colossians 2 for this.

    If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord, make your decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now to ensure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Repenting of your sins, and asking the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily and sincerely, surrendering yourself to Him - is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life.  Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.

बाइबल अपने आप में अनुपम है, यह संसार के कैसे भी, कहीं के भी, कभी के भी, किसी के भी द्वारा लिखे गए धार्मिकता संबंधी लेखों से बिलकुल भिन्न और अतुल्य है; क्योंकि यह ऐसी पुस्तक नहीं है जिसे ज्ञान के लिए पढ़ा जाता है, वरन यह परमेश्वर का जीवित वचन है जो अपने पाठक के जीवन को पढ़ता है और उसके जीवन को उसके सामने अन्दर-बाहर संपूर्णतः खोल कर रख देता है। यह किसी धर्म से संबंधित पुस्तक नहीं है, वरन यह पापों से पश्चाताप और प्रभु यीशु में विश्वास करने तथा यह स्वीकार कर लेने से संबंधित है कि प्रभु यीशु ने अनंत उद्धार का एकमात्र संभव मार्ग एक ही बार में सदा के लिए उपलब्ध करवा दिया है। बाइबल ऐसे अनेकों व्यक्तित्वों के बारे में नहीं है जिन्हें यद्यपि ईश्वरीय गुणों वाला माना जाता है फिर भी जिनमें बताया गया है कि उन में परस्पर अहंकार से संबंधित तथा भावनात्मक समस्याएँ हैं, जिनमें परस्पर एक-दूसरे पर वर्चस्व और सामर्थ्य प्रमाणित करने की स्पर्धा देखी जाती है, जो मनुष्यों से उपासना पाने की होड़ में रहते हैं, जो मादक पेय और पदार्थों का सेवन करते हैं, तथा कामुक भावनाएं जागृत करने वाली गतिविधियों में आनन्द लेते हैं – अर्थात वे सभी बातें पाई जाती हैं जिन्हें मनुष्यों को करने के लिए मना किया जाता है जिससे मनुष्य धर्मी और भला बन सके। और इन ईश्वरीय गुणों वाले व्यक्तित्वों द्वारा मनुष्यों के पवित्र हो जाने के लिए निर्धारित धर्म के कामों, रीतियों, अनुष्ठानों, तपस्याओं आदि के करने पर भी ये व्यक्तित्व कभी यह देखने को तैयार नहीं होते हैं कि कोई भी मनुष्य किसी प्रकार से उनके समान या उनके स्तर तक पहुँच सके। यदि कोई मनुष्य कभी अपने किसी प्रयास से उनके स्तर के निकट पहुँचने लगता है तो तुरंत ही षड्यंत्र बनाए और कार्यान्वित किए जाते हैं जिससे वह मनुष्य किसी प्रकार से पाप में गिरकर फिर से नाशमान अस्तित्व में पहुँच जाए। वरन, बाइबल उस एकमात्र सच्चे और सिद्ध पवित्र परमेश्वर के बारे में है जो बुराई के साथ रहना या समझौता करना तो बहुत दूर की बात है, उसे देख भी नहीं सकता है, “तेरी आंखें ऐसी शुद्ध हैं कि तू बुराई को देख ही नहीं सकता, और उत्पात को देखकर चुप नहीं रह सकता; फिर तू विश्वासघातियों को क्यों देखता रहता, और जब दुष्ट निर्दोष को निगल जाता है, तब तू क्यों चुप रहता है?” (हबक्कूक 1:13)। परन्तु फिर भी वह पतित मानव जाति से इतना प्रेम करता है कि उसे बचा कर पुनः उसी सिद्ध स्वरूप में, जिसमें उसने मनुष्य को रचा था, लाना चाहता है, “फिर परमेश्वर ने कहा, हम मनुष्य को अपने स्वरूप के अनुसार अपनी समानता में बनाएं; और वे समुद्र की मछलियों, और आकाश के पक्षियों, और घरेलू पशुओं, और सारी पृथ्वी पर, और सब रेंगने वाले जन्तुओं पर जो पृथ्वी पर रेंगते हैं, अधिकार रखें। तब परमेश्वर ने मनुष्य को अपने स्वरूप के अनुसार उत्पन्न किया, अपने ही स्वरूप के अनुसार परमेश्वर ने उसको उत्पन्न किया, नर और नारी कर के उसने मनुष्यों की सृष्टि की। और परमेश्वर ने उन को आशीष दी: और उन से कहा, फूलो-फलो, और पृथ्वी में भर जाओ, और उसको अपने वश में कर लो; और समुद्र की मछलियों, तथा आकाश के पक्षियों, और पृथ्वी पर रेंगने वाले सब जन्तुओ पर अधिकार रखो” (उत्पत्ति 1: 26-28); “परन्तु जब हम सब के उघाड़े चेहरे से प्रभु का प्रताप इस प्रकार प्रगट होता है, जिस प्रकार दर्पण में, तो प्रभु के द्वारा जो आत्मा है, हम उसी तेजस्‍वी रूप में अंश अंश कर के बदलते जाते हैं” (2 कुरिन्थियों 3:18), और उसके लिए प्रावधान भी कर दिया है। यह वह पुस्तक है जो प्रोत्साहित करती है कि सारे संसार में जाकर मानव जाति के हित के सुसमाचार को सभी को बताया जाए, न कि मनुष्यों के लिए लाभकारी बातों को अपने तक सीमित कर के, छुपा कर रखा जाए, जिससे कि उनसे फिर लोगों से लाभ उठाया जाए या शोषण किया जाए।

बाइबल इस लिए भी संसार की किसी भी पुस्तक या लेख से अनुपम तथा अतुल्य है क्योंकि यह:

·         मनुष्य द्वारा अपने लिए अर्जित किए गए नाशमान लाभ के बारे में नहीं, वरन उस अनन्त जीवन तथा स्वर्गीय आशीषों के बारे में है जिन्हें परमेश्वर ने अपने प्रेम और अनुग्रह में मानव जाति को बिना किसी कीमत के प्रदान करना प्रस्तावित किया है।

·         लोगों को वर्गों और जातियों में बाँट कर उन्हें विभाजित कर के पृथक रखने के बारे में नहीं, वरन सभी लोगों को उद्धार तथा नया जन्म पाए हुए परमेश्वर की एक समान संतान बनाकर परमेश्वर के परिवार में एक करके जोड़ देने के बारे में है।

·         सांसारिक साम्राज्यों को स्थापित करने तथा औरों पर प्रभुता करने के बारे में नहीं, वरन प्रभु यीशु के समान नम्रता और प्रेम के साथ औरों की सहायता और सेवा करने के बारे में है।

·         संघर्षों और युद्धों को जीतने के बारे में नहीं, वरन दिलों को जीतने तथा लोगों के हृदयों में परमेश्वर के सिंहासन को लगाने के बारे में है।

·         नाश्मान वस्तुओं के ज्ञान को प्राप्त करने और उनमें उन्नत होने के बारे में नहीं, वरन उद्धार पाने – परमेश्वर के प्रेम और अनुग्रह से एक ही बार सदा काल के लिए पाप के दुष्परिणाम से बचाए जाने के बारे में है;

·         क्योंकि यह सृजी गई वस्तुओं के बारे में नहीं, वरन सृजनहार प्रभु परमेश्वर के बारे में है जो मानवजाति को बचाने के लिए मनुष्य बन गया;

·         पापियों का नाश करने के बारे में नहीं, वरन उनसे प्रेम करने और उन्हें एक ही बार में अनन्तकाल के लिए बचा लेने के बारे में है।

इसलिए, बाइबल की तुलना संसार के किसी भी अन्य लेख से कर के बाइबल को गौण दिखाने का प्रयास करना ऐसे है जैसे रॉकेट विज्ञान पर एक उच्च प्रशंसा एवं मान्यता प्राप्त पाठ्य-पुस्तक को लेकर उसका इसलिए तिरस्कार कर के उसे एक ओर रख दिया जाए, क्योंकि उस पुस्तक में वर्णमाला के “क, ख, ग, घ...’ और बच्चों की कविताओं के सीखने के बारे में कुछ नहीं लिखा गया है – बाइबल को लेकर ऐसा कोई भी विश्लेषण करने, कोई भी ऐसी तुलना करने या इस प्रकार का कोई भी निष्कर्ष निकालने के लिए कोई आधार है ही नहीं, कदापि नहीं।

संसार का कोई भी ज्ञान, कोई भी लेख, कभी बाइबल के कहीं भी निकट नहीं पहुँच सकता है क्योंकि बाइबल ही एक मात्र स्वर्ग की पुस्तक है, जो पृथ्वी के मनुष्यों को उनके छुटकारे के लिए प्रदान की गई है।

The Bible, in Comparison to the Religious Writings of Other Ancient Civilizations & Cultures - Part - 4

The Bible is unique, is different and incomparable in any manner to any religious writings of any people, anywhere in the world, ever; since it is not a book to be read for knowledge, rather it is the Living Word of God that reads and lays bare the life of the reader, through and through. It is not a book of religion, but of repentance from sins and faith in the Lord Jesus, of accepting and believing that He has provided once and for all the only possible way to eternal salvation. The Bible is not about the activities and behavior of a myriad of personalities to whom though divinity has been ascribed, but yet it is stated that they go around mutually having ego related and emotional issues, seeking and plotting superiority and power over each other, vying with each other for receiving human worship, being involved in the use of intoxicating and inebriating substances and drinks, and in lustful activities – i.e. all the things that human beings are asked not to be involved in so that they can be righteous and good, are found in them. And despite all the religious works, rites, rituals, penances etc. prescribed for humans by these divine personalities to attain holiness, they are not in the least ready to see that any human ever attains to their level and stature. If perchance anyone through their efforts comes anywhere near reaching near to them, conspiracies are hatched and executed to ensure their downfall into sin and mortal existence. Rather, The Bible is about the one true and perfectly Holy God that cannot even see evil “You are of purer eyes than to behold evil, And cannot look on wickedness. Why do You look on those who deal treacherously, And hold Your tongue when the wicked devours A person more righteous than he?” (Habakkuk 1:13), let alone live with it or compromise with it. But He loves the fallen humanity so much that He wants to redeem them and restore them into His image, the image that He had created them in, “Then God said, "Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth." So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. Then God blessed them, and God said to them, "Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth."” (Genesis 1:26-28); “But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord”; 2 Corinthians 3:18), and has provided the way for this to be done. It is the book that exhorts to go out into the whole world to spread the good news for the benefit of mankind at every place, rather than being possessive, secretive and exploitative about things beneficial for mankind.

The Bible is also incomparable to any other text or writing anywhere in the world since it not about:

·         the temporal and perishing gains that man accrues for himself, but about the eternal life and heavenly blessings that God in His love and grace has freely offered to mankind.

·         dividing and keeping the people apart by segregating them into classes and castes, but it is about uniting all people as one, as the equal, saved and Born Again children of God into God’s family.

·         establishing worldly kingdoms and dominating others, but about the heavenly kingdom of God and reaching out to help and serve others in humility and love like the Lord Jesus.

·         winning strifes and wars, but about winning hearts and establishing God’s throne in the hearts of people.

·         gaining and excelling in knowledge about temporal things, but about receiving salvation – being saved by the love and grace of God once and for all from sin and its consequences for all eternity;

·         the created things, but about the very Creator Lord God who became man to save mankind;

·         destroying the sinners, but about loving and saving them for eternity once and for all.

So, looking down upon the Bible through trying to compare it to any other writings of the world is like taking up a highly acclaimed textbook on Rocket Science and then rejecting it, putting it away, simply because it says nothing about learning the alphabets and nursery rhymes – there simply are no grounds, none whatsoever, for any such analysis, comparisons or for drawing any such conclusions related to the Bible.

No knowledge, no writing of earth can ever attain to it, since The Bible is the one and only Book of Heaven, given for the deliverance of people of the earth.

If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord, make your decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now to ensure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Repenting of your sins, and asking the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily and sincerely, surrendering yourself to Him - is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life.  Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.
