मरकुस 3:14-15 में अपने शिष्यों के लिए प्रभु के तीन प्रयोजनों में से दो को हम देख चुके हैं, कि शिष्य प्रभु के साथ रहें, और जब तथा जहाँ भी प्रभु उन्हें भेजे, वहाँ जाकर वह प्रचार करें जो प्रभु उन्हें करने को कहे। प्रभावी और सफल सेवकाई के लिए ये तीनों प्रयोजन बहुत महत्वपूर्ण, वरन अनिवार्य हैं। इन तीनों प्रयोजनों में से पहला प्रयोजन प्रभु के साथ रहकर उससे सामर्थ्य प्राप्त करने के लिए है; दूसरा उसकी आज्ञाकारिता और उसके प्रति समर्पण में होकर, अपनी नहीं वरन उसकी इच्छा पूरी करने से संबंधित है। और आज हम तीसरे प्रयोजन, उस अधिकार के बारे में देखेंगे, जो प्रभु अपने साथ रहने वाले, और अपने आज्ञाकारी शिष्यों को देता है।

तीसरा प्रयोजन है “और दुष्टात्माओं के निकालने का अधिकार रखें” (मरकुस 3:15)। प्रभु ने अपने शिष्यों को संसार में अपने प्रतिनिधि होने के लिए बुलाया और चुना था, और प्रभु की पृथ्वी की सेवकाई के पश्चात, उन्हें ही प्रभु के कार्य को आगे बढ़ाना था, सारे संसार में पहुँचाना था। जो संसार के सामने सर्वशक्तिमान परमेश्वर के प्रतिनिधि होंगे, उन प्रतिनिधियों में उन्हें यह प्रतिनिधित्व देने वाले के समान कुछ गुण भी अवश्य होंगे। इसीलिए हम देखते हैं कि प्रभु ने अपने आज्ञाकारी और समर्पित शिष्यों को एक ऐसा अधिकार भी दिया, जो संसार का कोई व्यक्ति, कोई सामर्थ्य उन्हें नहीं दे सकती थी - वे बीमारों को चंगा करें और दुष्टात्माओं पर अधिकार रखें। जैसा हम मत्ती रचित सुसमाचार से देखते हैं कि इससे पहले भी, जब प्रभु पृथ्वी पर था और उन्हें सेवकाई के लिए भेजा था, तब प्रभु ने उन्हें न केवल दुष्टात्माओं को निकालने का अधिकार दिया, वरन बीमारियों और दुर्बलताओं को दूर करने का भी अधिकार दिया था “फिर उसने अपने बारह चेलों को पास बुलाकर, उन्हें अशुद्ध आत्माओं पर अधिकार दिया, कि उन्हें निकालें और सब प्रकार की बीमारियों और सब प्रकार की दुर्बलताओं को दूर करें” (मत्ती 10:1)। और जब प्रभु ने उन्हें प्रचार के लिए भेजा, तो उन्होंने यह सब किया भी “और उन्होंने जा कर प्रचार किया, कि मन फिराओ। और बहुतेरे दुष्टात्माओं को निकाला, और बहुत बीमारों पर तेल मलकर उन्हें चंगा किया” (मरकुस 6:12-13)। किन्तु मरकुस 9:14-29 (तथा मत्ती 17:14-20, और लूका 9:37-42) में एक और घटना भी है जब यही शिष्य एक लड़के में से एक दुष्टात्मा को नहीं निकाल सके। और प्रभु ने उनकी असफलता का कारण उनका अविश्वास और प्रार्थना की कमी को बताया। संभवतः शिष्यों में प्रभु की बजाए अपने आप पर, अपनी सामर्थ्य पर भरोसा आ गया था; वे प्रभु पर विश्वास के साथ नहीं, अपने ऊपर रखे गए विश्वास द्वारा यह करना चाह रहे थे, और जब असफल रहे तो उनमें प्रभु द्वारा दी गई इस सामर्थ्य के प्रति संदेह में भी आ गए होंगे।

प्रभु द्वारा शिष्यों के प्रयोजनों के लिए दिया गया क्रम और अभिप्राय आज भी उतने ही महत्वपूर्ण और कार्यकारी हैं। जो प्रार्थना और वचन के अध्ययन के द्वारा प्रभु के साथ बने रहते हैं; जो प्रभु के आज्ञाकारी रहते हैं, तब ही और वही कहते और करते हैं जब और जो प्रभु कहता है; और हर बात के लिए प्रभु पर निर्भर तथा उस पर विश्वास रखने वाले रहते हैं, वे फिर प्रभु के लिए अपनी सेवकाई के दौरान प्रभु से आश्चर्यकर्म भी करने की सामर्थ्य पाते हैं और उन कार्यों को सेवकाई की आवश्यकता के अनुसार प्रभु की महिमा के लिए करते भी हैं। प्रभु यीशु ने अपनी पृथ्वी की सेवकाई के अंत में, अपने स्वर्गारोहण के समय, शिष्यों को संसार में सुसमाचार प्रचार के लिए जाने से पहले फिर से यह अधिकार दिए थे (मरकुस 16:17-18)। किन्तु ध्यान कीजिए, यहाँ पर प्रभु ने इस सामर्थ्य और इस अधिकार को सुसमाचार प्रचार के साथ जोड़ा है, उसके अतिरिक्त प्रदान नहीं किया है; और साथ ही प्राथमिकता फिर भी “विश्वास करने” ही की थी - जो विश्वास में स्थिर और दृढ़ होगा, और इस सामर्थ्य तथा अधिकार का प्रयोग प्रभु यीशु में विश्वास के द्वारा उद्धार के सुसमाचार के प्रचार के लिए करेगा, उसी में ये बातें भी कार्यकारी होंगी।

आज बहुत से लोग प्रभु यीशु के नाम में चमत्कार और अद्भुत कामों के द्वारा लोगों को लुभाने में लगे हुए हैं, और प्रभु ने बता भी दिया था कि ऐसे लोग होंगे, किन्तु प्रभु उन्हें स्वीकार नहीं करेगा; क्योंकि उन्होंने परमेश्वर की आज्ञाकारिता में नहीं, अपनी ही इच्छा में होकर यह सब किया (मत्ती 7:21-23)। अंत के दिनों के लिए, जिनमें हम आज हैं, यह भविष्यवाणी है कि बहुत से लोग चिह्नों और चमत्कारों के द्वारा बहकाए जाएंगे (2 थिस्सलुनीकियों 2:9-12)। साथ ही 2 कुरिन्थियों 11:13-15 में भी चेतावनी दी गई है कि शैतान के दूत प्रभु के लोगों का भेष धरकर और उनके समान बातें करने के द्वारा लोगों को बहका और भटका देते हैं। किन्तु मरकुस 3:14-15 हमें इस धोखे में पड़ने और बहकाए जाने से बचे रहने का तरीका बताता है। जो भी अपने आप को प्रभु का शिष्य, उसका अभिषिक्त कहे, उसके जीवन में उपरोक्त तीनों प्रयोजन उसी क्रम में विद्यमान होने चाहिएं जिसमें प्रभु ने शिष्यों के लिए निर्धारित करे हैं, कहे हैं। यदि ऐसा नहीं है, तो सचेत हो जाने और उस जन को वचन की कसौटी पर बारीकी से परखने, और खरा पाए जाने के बाद ही उसकी बातों पर विश्वास करने की आवश्यकता है।

प्रभु के सच्चे शिष्यों की प्राथमिकता प्रभु के साथ बने रहना और उसकी आज्ञाकारिता में रहना है, न कि चिह्न और चमत्कार दिखाकर लोगों को प्रभावित तथा आकर्षित करने, और उनसे भौतिक लाभ कमाने की प्रवृत्ति रखना। प्रभु ने कभी भी अपने शिष्यों से यह नहीं कहा कि वे इन चिह्नों और चमत्कारों को करने की सामर्थ्य को भौतिक लाभ अर्जित करने का माध्यम बना लें; जो ऐसा करते हैं वे प्रभु की इच्छा का नहीं अपनी इच्छा का पालन करते हैं। इसीलिए प्रभु का निर्देश है “सब बातों को परखो: जो अच्छी है उसे पकड़े रहो” (1 थिस्स्लुनीकियों 5:21)। यदि आप मसीही विश्वासी हैं, तो सचेत होकर, प्रभु के वचन के अनुसार अच्छे से जाँच-परखकर ही इन विलक्षण और अद्भुत लगने वाली बातों और उनके करने वालों पर भरोसा करें। धोखे में पड़ने से स्वयं भी बचें, तथा औरों को भी बचाकर रखें। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। 

यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी उसके पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

Christian Disciple – Authority for Miraculous Works

We have been seeing the three purposes that the Lord Jesus Christ had stated for His disciples in Mark 3:14-15, and have considered two of them, that the disciple should stay with the Lord, be willing to go when and where the Lord sends him, and preach that which the Lord asks him to say. For a successful and effective ministry of Christian Believers, the presence of these three in the disciple's life is not only something very important, but rather, is mandatory. We have seen the first two, i.e., the disciple should remain with the Lord at all times and should always be ready and prepared to go and preach whenever and wherever the Lord asks him to go. Of these three purposes, the first one, to be with the Lord, is to obtain His power; the second one, i.e., to be surrendered in obedience and commitment to Him, is about fulfilling not one’s own, but the Lord’s will. Today we will look into the third purpose, which is about the authority the Lord grants to those who always remain with Him and are ever obedient to Him.

    The third purpose is “and to have power to heal sicknesses and to cast out demons” (Mark 3:15). The Lord has called His disciples to be His representatives on earth; and after the time of Lord’s ministry on earth, they were to carry on with the Lord’s work and take it to the ends of the earth. Those who will be the representatives of the Almighty God before the people of the world, those representatives will also have some of the characteristics of the one who has chosen them and given them the authority. That is why we see that the Lord has given to His obedient and committed disciples an authority, which no person of the world can ever give to them - have power to heal sicknesses and to cast out demons. As we see from the gospel of Matthew, the Lord had given them this power earlier also, when He sent them out for preaching, while He was on earth with them, “And when He had called His twelve disciples to Him, He gave them power over unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all kinds of sickness and all kinds of disease” (Matthew 10:1), and they could exercise this power when they were sent out by the Lord for preaching, “So they went out and preached that people should repent. And they cast out many demons, and anointed with oil many who were sick, and healed them” (Mark 6:12-13). But we also see in Mark 9:14-29 (also given in Matthew 17:14-20 and Luke 9:37-42), an incident when these very disciples could not cast out a demon from a boy. The Lord said that the reason for their being unsuccessful was their lack of faith and prayers. Quite likely, they had started to depend not upon the Lord but upon themselves and the power they had been given; and when they attempted to cast out the demon believing in their own ability, they were unsuccessful; and then they might have started to doubt the authority of the Lord as well.

The sequence of these purposes given by the Lord is just as important today, as it was at that time. Those who constantly remain with the Lord through an attitude of prayer and in steadfastly studying God’s Word the Bible; those who remain obedient to the Lord, do only what the Lord instructs them to do, when He asks them to do; and remain dependent upon the Lord, always believing on Him for all things, they then during their ministry for the Lord, also receive the power and  do miraculous things as and when required for the ministry, and for the glory of the Lord. The Lord Jesus, at the end of His earthly ministry, at the time of His ascension, had given these powers and the authority for these things to His disciples before they went out into the world for their gospel preaching ministry (Mark 16:17-18). But note, these powers and this authority was associated by the Lord with the preaching of the gospel, not otherwise; and the primary thing was still having faith, these powers were for “those who believe” - those who are firm and established in faith in Him, and use this authority to spread the gospel of salvation by faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.

Today many people are in the business of enticing people by wondrous and miraculous works in the name of the Lord Jesus; and the Lord had already clearly told that such people will come and will do these things, but the Lord will not accept them. Because they have done these things not in the will of God, not in obedience to the Lord, but in their own will (Matthew 7:21-23). It has been prophesied for the days of the end times, the days we are living in now, that many people will be led astray by signs and wonders (2 Thessalonians 2:9-12). We have also been warned in 2 Corinthians 11:13-15 that Satan’s angels will masquerade as people of the Lord and beguile many through their preaching and works. But Mark 3:14-15 gives us the remedy to being led astray, the way of staying safe from being beguiled into utter destruction by such satanic forces. Whosoever calls himself a disciple of the Lord, these three purposes, in the same sequence as given by the Lord for His disciples, should also be seen in his life. If this is not true in the person’s life, then beware and thoroughly check that person’s life, preaching, and works through the Word of God, before believing in anything he says or does.

The priority of the true disciples of the Lord is to be with the Lord and stay obedient to Him, and not to try to impress and influence people by showing signs and wonders, and use them to earn worldly things. The Lord never taught His disciples to use the ability of doing signs and wonders as a means of gathering physical wealth; those who do this, are not fulfilling the Lord's will, but their own will. Therefore, it is the Lord's instruction “Test all things; hold fast what is good” (1 Thessalonians 5:21). If you are a Christian Believer, then be very wary, and believe in those who show signs and wonders only after very carefully examining and evaluating them. Stay safe from being caught in deceit, and safe-guard others also. Where there is the obedience and submission to the Lord, where His Word is honored and obeyed, His security and blessings are also there. 

If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord Jesus, then take a decision in its favor now to secure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. If you are still not Born Again, have not obtained salvation, or have not asked the Lord Jesus for forgiveness for your sins, have not truly and sincerely surrendered yourselves into His hands, then you have the opportunity to do so right now - this is the only way to be saved and have a heavenly life. A short prayer said voluntarily with a sincere heart, with heartfelt repentance for your sins, and a fully submissive attitude, “Lord Jesus, I confess that I have disobeyed You, and have knowingly or unknowingly, in mind, in thought, in attitude, and in deeds, committed sins. I believe that you have fully borne the punishment of my sins by your sacrifice on the cross, and have paid the full price of those sins for all eternity. Please forgive my sins, change my heart and mind towards you, and make me your disciple, take me with you." God longs for your company and wants to see you blessed, but to make this possible, is your personal decision. Will you not say this prayer now, while you have the time and opportunity to do so - the decision is yours.

    प्रभु यीशु मसीह वचन हैं; वह वचन जो परमेश्वर के साथ है; वह वचन जो परमेश्वर है; वह वचन जिसने देहधारी होकर हमारे बीच में डेरा किया (यूहन्ना 1:1, 14) – वह, जो जीवित वचन है, वही जो मसीही विश्वास का विषय और आधार है। आश्चर्य कर्म विश्वास का आधार नहीं हैं, वरन जो वचन या सुसमाचार लोगों को सुनाया जाता है उसकी पुष्टि करने के चिन्ह हैं (मरकुस 16:15-20); सदा से ही परमेश्वर का वचन ही मसीही विश्वास का आधार रहा है। इसीलिए शैतान हमें सदा ही परमेश्वर के वचन से दूर ले जाने का प्रयास करता है, और ऐसा करने के लिए आश्चर्य कर्म और अद्भुत चिन्हों को विश्वास का आधार बनाना उसके धोखे और बहकावे के कार्यों में बहुत सहायक होते हैं। लोग, परमेश्वर के वचन के अध्ययन और आज्ञाकारिता में संलग्न होने के स्थान पर, ऐसी लालसाओं में पड़ जाते हैं कि वे भी आश्चर्य कर्म करने वाले हो जाएं, या आश्चर्य कर्मों के द्वारा उन्हें कुछ लाभ मिल जाए, या आश्चर्य कर्म करने वाले कहलाए जाने के द्वारा उनका नाम और ख्याति हो जाए, आदि।

    आश्चर्य कर्म तो शैतान, उसके दूत, और उसका अनुसरण करने वाले भी कर सकते हैं (निर्गमन 7:11-12, 22; 8:7; प्रेरितों 16:16-18; 2 थिस्सलुनीकियों 2:9-10; प्रकाशितवाक्य 13:11-15), और यदि व्यक्ति परमेश्वर के वचन – “सत्य” में दृढ़ता से स्थापित न हो, तो शैतान के धोखों और अद्भुत चिन्हों द्वारा बहकाए जाने के द्वारा उन के विनाश में जाने का खतरा बना रहता है, उसी विनाश में जिसमें इस प्रकार के चिन्ह और अद्भुत कार्य करने वाले अंततः जाएंगे (प्रकाशितवाक्य 19:20; 20:10).

    इसलिए हमारे लिए यह सुनिश्चित कर लेना अनिवार्य है कि परमेश्वर और प्रभु यीशु मसीह में हमारा विश्वास किसी चिन्ह अथवा आश्चर्य कर्म आदि पर आधारित नहीं है वरन परमेश्वर के वचन – जो अचूक और दोषरहित है, पर विश्वास लाने और भरोसा रखने पर आधारित है। हमें परमेश्वर के वचन बाइबल  को प्रार्थना सहित पढ़ने और उस पर मनन करने में समय बिताना चाहिए,और उसमें होकर परमेश्वर से मार्गदर्शन के खोजी होना चाहिए (1 शमुएल 3:21; भजन 119:105)। परमेश्वर के वचन में दृढ़ और स्थापित होना ही शैतान के द्वारा बहकाए जाने से बचे रहने का अचूक उपाय है – इसके लिए कुलुस्सियों 2 पर भी मनन करें।

English Translation

Primary Basis of Belief in the Lord – Miracles or God’s Word?

    The primary basis of our belief in the Lord Jesus ought to be His Word, not miracles done in His name. The Lord Jesus started His ministry with preaching, not miracles (Mark 1:14-15). When the Lord Jesus chose twelve of His disciples, empowered them and sent them out on their first mission as His emissaries, the Lord’s primary instruction to them was to go and preach that the Kingdom of heaven is at hand; to perform miracles was the secondary instruction (Matthew 10:1, 5-8; Mark 3:14-15). Here it is also important to note that although nothing is said against those who would be skeptical about the miracles, but those who rejected the Word had a terrible fate awaiting them (Matthew 10:14-15). Another important thing to note here is what the Lord said to those disciples in the event of their being brought before high ranking officials because of their ministry for the Lord Jesus. The Lord assured them that for their defense in such a situation, through the power of the Holy Spirit, they will told what to ‘say’, rather than being given a miracle to ‘do’ (Matthew 10:18-20).

    Read John 17, the High Priestly prayer of the Lord, which He prayed before His being taken captive for crucifixion. See in this prayer how He repeatedly emphasizes upon the Word that He gave to His disciples, which they were to pass on to others in their ministry. At the time of His ascension to heaven, The Great Commission that the Lord gave to His disciples, was to go and preach the Word He had given them (Matthew 28:18-20; Acts 1:8). The first Church was born by the preaching of Peter in Acts 2, not by any miracles – the miracle of ‘tongues’ brought consternation amongst those present and witnessing the miracle, not faith; it was the preaching of the Word that brought repentance, faith and salvation. We see later, that those Christian Believers who were being persecuted and chased out of Jerusalem, went out preaching the Word (Acts 8:1-4). Paul emphasizes to Timothy that it is the Word of God that is to be judiciously taught (2 Timothy 2:2, 15) for it is the Word that is able to make wise for salvation through faith (2 Timothy 3:14-17).

    The Lord Jesus is the Word; the Word with God; the Word was God; the Word that became flesh and dwelt amongst us (John 1:1, 14) – He, the Living Word is the object and basis of the Christian faith. Miracles are not the basis of faith, rather they are meant to be signs to affirm the Word or Gospel that is preached to the people (Mark 16:15-20); it is the Word of God that has always been the basis of the Christian faith. Therefore Satan always tries to draw us away from God’s Word, and to this end using miraculous signs and wonders as the basis of faith serve his purpose to beguile and deceive quite well. People, instead of being involved in studying God’s Word and being obedient to the word, get caught up either in the desire to be those who perform miracles, or in the expectations of being benefited through miracles, or to gain a name and fame through performing miracles.

    Even Satan, his angels, and his followers can perform miracles (Exodus 7:11-12, 22; 8:7; Acts 16:16-18; 2 Thessalonians 2:9-10; Revelations 13:11-15), and unless one is firmly established in the Word of God – “the Truth”, people are prone to get carried away to their destruction by these satanic deceptions and lying wonders, just as those who perform these deceiving signs and wonders will eventually perish (Revelation 19:20; 20:10).

    Therefore it is essential to see that the basis of our belief and faith in God and Lord Jesus is not on the basis of any signs and miracles etc. but through believing and trusting in His Word – which is infallible and inerrant. We need to spend time prayerfully reading, and meditating upon the Word of God – the Bible, and seeking the Lord’s guidance through it (1 Samuel 3:21; Psalms 119:105). Being established in God’s Word is our only sure-shot safety and security against being deceived by Satan – ponder over Colossians 2 for this.

    If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord, make your decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now to ensure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Repenting of your sins, and asking the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily and sincerely, surrendering yourself to Him - is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life.  Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.

आत्मिक वरदानों के प्रयोगकर्ता - आश्चर्यकर्म, चिह्न, और चमत्कार  करने वाले 

परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा ने कलीसिया, या मसीही विश्वासियों की मण्डली में, मण्डली के तथा मण्डली के लोगों के मसीही विश्वास एवं जीवन में उन्नति के लिए कुछ आत्मिक वरदान दिए हैं, जिन्हें हम 1 कुरिन्थियों 12:28 के अनुसार देख रहे हैं। हम देख चुके हैं कि कलीसिया के लिए उपयोगिता के अनुसार इस पद में दिए गए इन वरदानों के क्रम में सबसे ऊपर वचन की सेवकाई से संबंधित वरदान हैं - प्रेरित, भविष्यद्वक्ता, और शिक्षक, जिनके बारे में बाइबल की शिक्षाओं को हम पिछले कुछ लेखों में देख चुके हैं। साथ ही हमने यह भी देखा है कि आज पहली दो सेवकाइयों के चाहने वाले और इन सेवकाइयों को उपाधि या पदवी के समान प्रयोग करके समाज में अपना वर्चस्व जताने वाले तो बहुत हैं, किन्तु उनका जीवन, व्यवहार, और इन वरदानों का प्रयोग वचन के अनुसार नहीं है, वरन स्वार्थ-सिद्धि और शारीरिक तथा सांसारिक लाभों को प्राप्त करने के लिए है। और साथ ही हमने यह भी देखा था कि पहले दोनों वरदानों के इच्छुक लोगों की तुलना में वचन के शिक्षक होने के आत्मिक वरदान के चाहने वाले बहुत कम हैं, और जो हैं भी उनमें से बहुत कम ऐसे हैं जो परमेश्वर के साथ बैठकर उससे पहले वचन की बातों को सीखते हैं, और फिर उन्हें लोगों में बांटते हैं। आज अधिकांश शिक्षक और उनकी शिक्षाएं मानवीय बुद्धि और समझ के अनुसार वचन के अनुचित प्रयोग को लेकर की जाती हैं; परमेश्वर के वचन को आत्मा की प्रबल दोधारी तलवार के समान नहीं, वरन कानों की खुजली मिटाने वाली लुभावनी और लोकप्रिय बातों का संकलन बनाकर बताई जाती हैं, जो बाइबल के प्रयोग के सिद्धांतों के विरुद्ध है।

 

वचन की सेवकाई से संबंधित वरदानों के बाद, इस पद में जो अगले दो वरदान दिए गए हैं वे हैं सामर्थ्य के काम करना और चंगा करना। ये दोनों वरदान परस्पर संबंधित हैं; किन्तु हम आज सामर्थ्य के काम करने के बारे में ही देखेंगे। हम मसीही विश्वासियों में बहुधा यह गलत धारणा पाई जाती है कि आश्चर्यकर्म या सामर्थ्य के काम केवल परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा की सहायता और सामर्थ्य से ही किए जा सकते हैं, अन्यथा नहीं। और पवित्र आत्मा के नाम से गलत शिक्षाएं, मिथ्या प्रचार, और अनुचित व्यवहार करने और सिखाने वाले भी इस गलत धारणा पर बहुतायत से बल देने के द्वारा लोगों में इस वरदान को प्राप्त करने की लालसा जागृत करते हैं। किन्तु परमेश्वर के वचन बाइबल से हम यही देखते और सीखते हैं कि शैतान और उसके दूत भी आश्चर्यकर्म करने की शक्ति रखते हैं, और आश्चर्यकर्म करते भी हैं।

 

इस संदर्भ में बाइबल से ही कुछ उदाहरणों को देखते हैं:

• इस्राएलियों को मिस्र के दासत्व से छुड़ाने के लिए, अपने आप को परमेश्वर द्वारा नियुक्त जन प्रमाणित करने के लिए, परमेश्वर की आज्ञाकारिता और सामर्थ्य से जो चिह्न मूसा तथा हारून ने फिरौन के सामने दिखाए, फिरौन के ‘पंडितों और टोन्हा’ करने वालों ने भी वही करके दिखा दिए (निर्गमन 7:8-12, 19-22; 8:5-7)। निश्चित है कि फिरौन के इन लोगों में काम करने वाली सामर्थ्य परमेश्वर की नहीं थी; और परमेश्वर के अतिरिक्त दूसरी ऐसी सामर्थ्य शैतान ही की है। साथ ही ये लोग फिरौन के साथ और उसके दरबार में, मूसा और हारून के आने से पहले से विद्यमान थे। क्योंकि वे लोग कुछ अद्भुत कर पाने की सामर्थ्य रखते थे, फिरौन के सामने पहले से अपने आप को प्रमाणित कर चुके थे, इसीलिए फिरौन के साथ थे। तब ही फिरौन ने बड़े भरोसे के साथ उन्हें मूसा और हारून का सामना करने के लिए आगे किया था, और आरंभिक स्पर्धा में वे मूसा और हारून के समान सामर्थी भी प्रमाणित हुए थे।  

• परमेश्वर ने अपनी व्यवस्था में भावी कहने वालों, शुभ-अशुभ मुहूर्तों को मानने वालों, टोन्हा करने वालों, और तांत्रिकों, आदि से दूर रहने को कहा (व्यवस्थाविवरण 18:9-14)। प्रकट तात्पर्य यह है कि उन मूर्तिपूजकों और यहोवा परमेश्वर को न जानने वाले लोगों में भी कुछ आश्चर्यकर्म, चिह्न और चमत्कार करने वाले लोग उस कनान देश में पहले से रहते थे जिसे परमेश्वर इस्राएलियों को देने जा रहा था। उनकी वहाँ उपस्थिति और समाज पर उनका प्रभाव और पकड़ इस बात का प्रमाण है कि उनमें कुछ शक्तियां थीं। किन्तु वे शक्तियां परमेश्वर की ओर से नहीं थीं, इसीलिए परमेश्वर अपने लोगों को उन शक्तियों के प्रभाव में आने नहीं देना चाहता था, और उनसे दूर रहने, ऐसी शक्तियां रखने वाले लोगों का नाश करने के लिए कहा। 

• इसी प्रकार से राजा नबूकदनेस्सर ने अपने दरबार में ज्योतिषी, तन्त्री, टोन्हे, आदि रखे हुए थे; न तो राजा नबूकदनेस्सर और न उसके दरबार के ये ज्योतिषी, तन्त्री, टोन्हे, आदि, जीवते, सच्चे परमेश्वर यहोवा को जानते या मानते थे। किन्तु उन ज्योतिषी, तन्त्री, टोन्हे, आदि ने अवश्य ही अपनी कोई योग्यता और क्षमता राजा के सामने प्रमाणित की होगी, और करते रहे होंगे; किन्तु अब वे परमेश्वर द्वारा दिखाए गए स्वप्न को नहीं बूझ सके (दानिय्येल 2:2-7; 4:4-7), जो इस बात का प्रमाण था किन उनकी जो भी शक्ति थी वह परमेश्वर से भिन्न और परमेश्वर द्वारा दी जाने वाली सामर्थ्य से कम थी।

• शमौन टोन्हा करने वाला लोगों को अपनी विद्या और कार्यों से चकित करता था, और लोग इतने प्रभावित थे कि उसमें ईश्वरीय शक्ति होने की बात करते थे (प्रेरितों 8:9-11)। अर्थात उसमें भी कोई अलौकिक शक्ति थी, जिसकी सहायता से वह लोगों पर प्रभाव और पकड़ बनाए हुए था, और जिसे उसने छोड़ा नहीं था, यद्यपि उसने भी मसीही विश्वासी हो जाने का दावा किया था। उसकी इस शक्ति के विषय जिसके प्रभाव में वह अभी तक था, पतरस उसे कहता है, “इस बात में न तेरा हिस्‍सा है, न बांटा; क्योंकि तेरा मन परमेश्वर के आगे सीधा नहीं। इसलिये अपनी इस बुराई से मन फिराकर प्रभु से प्रार्थना कर, सम्भव है तेरे मन का विचार क्षमा किया जाए। क्योंकि मैं देखता हूं, कि तू पित्त की सी कड़वाहट और अधर्म के बन्‍धन में पड़ा है” (प्रेरितों 8:21-23)। यदि उसने उद्धार पाया होता तो परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा उसमें वास करता और पतरस को उसे कभी यह सब कहने की कोई आवश्यकता नहीं होती; अर्थात शमौन टोन्हा करने वाले में होकर कार्य करने वाली शक्तियां परमेश्वर की शक्तियां नहीं थीं।  

• पौलुस ने एक दासी में से भावी कहने वाली आत्मा को निकाला, जो भावी कहा करती थी (प्रेरितों 16:16-18)। यदि उस लड़की में वह आत्मा परमेश्वर की ओर से होती, तो पौलुस उसे क्यों निकालता? उलटे, वह तो उसके अपने विषय बताने का अनुमोदन करता, उसे परमेश्वर की महिमा के लिए प्रयोग करता। 

• मसीही विश्वास में आने से पहले जादू करने वालों ने, मसीही विश्वास में आने के बाद, अपनी पुस्तकें लाकर जलाईं (प्रेरितों 19:18-19); अर्थात उनकी विद्या मानी, सीखी, और सिखाई जाती थी। अन्यथा उस समय में जब सभी पुस्तकें हाथ से लिखी जाती थीं, तो ऐसी बातों के लिए जो मिथ्या और प्रमाण-रहित थीं, पुस्तकें क्यों लिखी जातीं, और रखी जाती, या इतनी बहुमूल्य आँकी जातीं? उन पुस्तकों की बातों में चाहे सब कुछ न सही, किन्तु कुछ तो यथार्थ होगा, जिसके द्वारा जन-साधारण को प्रभावित एवं वशीभूत किया जाता था। परंतु जो कुछ भी था वह परमेश्वर और मसीही विश्वास के अनुरूप नहीं था, इसीलिए उन्होंने उन सब को जला दिया, नष्ट कर दिया। 

• परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा ने पौलुस द्वारा थिस्सलुनीकियों को लिखवाई पत्री में मसीही विश्वासियों को सचेत किया कि वे चिह्न-चमत्कारों के पीछे न जाएं, क्योंकि अंत के दिनों में शैतान ऐसे कार्यों के द्वारा लोगों को भटका देगा और विनाश में ले जाएगा, क्योंकि उन्होंने परमेश्वर के वचन पर विश्वास करने के स्थान पर अलौकिक बातों पर विश्वास किया और झूठ में फंस गए (2 थिस्सलुनीकियों 2:9-12);

• प्रभु यीशु ने, और पुराने नियम के नबियों तथा नए नियम के प्रेरितों ने तो मुर्दों में प्राण डाले थे; किन्तु अंत के समय में तो यहाँ तक होगा कि शैतान मूरत में भी प्राण डालेगा और उससे बुलवाएगा (प्रकाशितवाक्य 13:14-15)।

 

उपरोक्त उदाहरणों से यह स्पष्ट है कि सभी आश्चर्यकर्म, चिह्न, और चमत्कार परमेश्वर की ओर से, या परमेश्वर की सामर्थ्य से नहीं होते हैं, शैतान भी लोगों को भरमाने, और अपने वक्ष में रखने के लिए यह करवा सकता है, और करवाता भी है। तो फिर हम कैसे पहचानें कि कौन सा आश्चर्यकर्म परमेश्वर की सामर्थ्य से है, और कौन सा शैतान की सामर्थ्य से? परमेश्वर का वचन इस बात के लिए बहुत स्पष्ट है कि परमेश्वर की दृष्टि में महत्व और प्राथमिकता परमेश्वर के वचन और उसकी आज्ञाकारिता की है। अर्थात, जो कुछ भी परमेश्वर की सामर्थ्य से होगा, वह उसके वचन के अनुसार होगा, और उसकी आज्ञाकारिता में होगा। जिस भी आश्चर्यकर्म, चिह्न, चमत्कार, आदि में यह प्राथमिक और सबसे महत्वपूर्ण गुण नहीं है, वह प्रभु की ओर से नहीं है। दूसरा महत्वपूर्ण गुण, जिसे हम 1 कुरिन्थियों 12:7 में पाते हैं, है कि जो परमेश्वर की आज्ञाकारिता और सामर्थ्य से होगा, वह किसी व्यक्ति की प्रशंसा या बड़ाई के लिए नहीं, वरन कलीसिया के सभी लोगों की भलाई के लिए और परमेश्वर के नाम की महिमा के लिए होगा। चाहे कहने को परमेश्वर का नाम उन आश्चर्यकर्मों, चिह्नों, चमत्कारों के साथ और उनके करने वाले के साथ जुड़ा हुआ हो, किन्तु यदि उनका उद्देश्य कलीसिया की भलाई और उन्नति, सुसमाचार का प्रचार, और प्रभु यीशु में पापों की क्षमा एवं उद्धार को बताना, प्रभु यीशु के नाम पर ऊँचा उठाना नहीं है (यूहन्ना 3:14-15), तो उन लोगों और उनके कामों के साथ प्रभु का नाम जुड़ा होना व्यर्थ है, भ्रम है, छलावा है, लोगों को बहका कर गलत बातों में फंसा देना है। 

प्रभु यीशु ने अपने पहाड़ी उपदेश में, एक बहुत महत्वपूर्ण शिक्षा दी है, “जो मुझ से, हे प्रभु, हे प्रभु कहता है, उन में से हर एक स्वर्ग के राज्य में प्रवेश न करेगा, परन्तु वही जो मेरे स्वर्गीय पिता की इच्छा पर चलता है। उस दिन बहुतेरे मुझ से कहेंगे; हे प्रभु, हे प्रभु, क्या हम ने तेरे नाम से भविष्यवाणी नहीं की, और तेरे नाम से दुष्टात्माओं को नहीं निकाला, और तेरे नाम से बहुत अचम्भे के काम नहीं किए? तब मैं उन से खुलकर कह दूंगा कि मैं ने तुम को कभी नहीं जाना, हे कुकर्म करने वालों, मेरे पास से चले जाओ” (मत्ती 7:21-23)। यहाँ प्रभु द्वारा कही गई बातों पर ध्यान दीजिए:

• जिनके लिए प्रभु ने यह बात कही है, वे प्रभु को संबोधित कर रहे थे, किसी अन्य देवी-देवता या अलौकिक शक्ति को नहीं;

• वे संख्या में “बहुतेरे” होंगे, थोड़े से नहीं; 

• उन्होंने जो कुछ भी किया, वह प्रभु यीशु के नाम से किया, अपने नाम से या किसी अन्य देवी-देवता के नाम से नहीं;

• उन्होंने जो कुछ किया, वह वही सब था जो आज पवित्र आत्मा के नाम से गलत शिक्षाएं सिखाने और फैलाने वाले करने पर ज़ोर देते हैं - भविष्यवाणियाँ करना, दुष्टात्माओं को निकालना, अचंभे के कार्य करना;

• उन्होंने यह सब थोड़ा सा या कभी-कभार नहीं वरन बहुतायत से किया;

• उन्होंने यह नहीं कहा कि प्रभु के नाम में “हमने करने के प्रयास किए”, या “हमने यह सब करने की लालसा रखी”; वरन यह कि हमने किया! अर्थात ये सभी कार्य उनके द्वारा हुए, उनके ये कार्य लोगों के सामने प्रत्यक्ष थे; और, 

• प्रभु यीशु ने उन से यह नहीं कहा कि “तुमने यह सब मेरे नाम में करने का प्रयास तो किया किन्तु तुम से हो नहीं सका”; वरन उनके इन दावों को झूठ या गलत न बताने के द्वारा प्रभु ने अप्रत्यक्ष रीति से उनके द्वारा यह सब किए जाने की पुष्टि भी की;

• किन्तु फिर भी प्रभु ने उन्हें कहा “मैंने तुम्हें कभी नहीं जाना” और उन्हें पूर्णतः अस्वीकार कर दिया;

• प्रभु ने उनके कार्यों को झुठलाया नहीं, वरन उन कार्यों को “कुकर्म” कहा।

प्रभु द्वारा उनके लिए कही गई इस अनपेक्षित और कठोर बात का आधार पद 21 के अंत में प्रभु यीशु द्वारा कहा गया वाक्य है “वही जो मेरे स्वर्गीय पिता की इच्छा पर चलता है”; अर्थात इन लोगों में परमेश्वर तथा उसके वचन की आज्ञाकारिता का स्थान नहीं था। चाहे वे संख्या में बहुत थे, और वे प्रभु के नाम से और बहुतायत से ये सभी भविष्यवाणियाँ, चिह्न और चमत्कार करते थे किन्तु वे परमेश्वर की इच्छा पर नहीं चलते थे, उनकी अपनी ही धारणाएं, अपने ही विश्वास, अपनी ही बातें और शिक्षाएं थीं, जिन्हें वे मानते, मनाते, और मनवाते थे - और अपनी यह मन-गढ़न्त बातें, अपनी मन-मर्ज़ी वे प्रभु परमेश्वर के नाम से बताते, चलाते, सिखाते और दिखाते थे। किन्तु उनके द्वारा अपनी बातों को प्रभु के नाम से बताने, सिखाने, और दिखाने के द्वारा, उनकी बातें प्रभु परमेश्वर की बातें नहीं बन गईं। वे मनुष्यों की बातें और शिक्षाएं थीं, और मनुष्यों ही की रहीं; प्रभु परमेश्वर ने उन्हें कोई महत्व अथवा स्वीकृति नहीं दी, बल्कि न केवल उन्हें पूर्णतः तिरस्कार कर दिया, वरन ऐसा करने वालों को अपने पास से निकाल बाहर भी कर दिया।

English Translation

Users of the Gifts of the Holy Spirit - Miracles & Gifts of Healing

God the Holy Spirit has given some Spiritual gifts for the edification of the Church, i.e., the assembly of Christian Believers, and for their spiritual growth, and we have been considering them from the list given in 1 Corinthians 12:28. We have already seen that in context of their relative frequency of being used in the Church, at the top of that list are the gifts related to the Word Ministry - the Apostles, Prophets, and Teachers, and we have seen the Biblical teachings about them in the last few articles. We also saw that today there are many who desire the first two of these gifts, and use them as titles or positions to exercise authority and superiority in the Church and society; but their lives, behavior, and their use of these gifts and ministry are not according to the way these gifts have been used in the Bible. Rather, such people often use them selfishly, for acquiring temporal physical and worldly benefits. We had also seen that in comparison to the number of people who want the first two gifts, there are hardly any who desire the third one, i.e., of being a Teacher of God’s Word. Even amongst those who teach God’s Word, there are very few who first sit with God, learn from Him, and then teach to others what God teaches them. Today, most of the Teachers and their teachings are according to human wisdom and understanding, therefore, often misinterpreting and misusing the Word of God. Hardly any Teacher uses God’s Word as the double-edged sword of the Spirit, to expose the deep things; mostly, instead of being forthright like the God appointed Teachers were, today people preach and teach popular things that please men, serve to satisfy itching ears; which is contrary to the principles of teaching and preaching from the Bible.

After the gifts and ministries related to teaching and preaching the Word of God, the next two gifts mentioned in this list are miracles and healings. Both of these gifts are mutually related, but today we will mainly see about doing miraculous works. This is a very commonly found misconception amongst us Christian Believers that miracles and miraculous works can only be done by the help of the Holy Spirit, not otherwise. The people who preach and teach wrong doctrines and false teachings about the Holy Spirit, they too emphasize about this misconception a lot, and often entice people to seek to receive this gift. But we see in the Bible that Satan and his demons too have the power to do miracles, and they too do miraculous works.

Let us look at a few Biblical examples:

• To deliver the Israelites from the Egyptian slavery, God appointed Moses and Aaron as His spokesmen, and to enable them to prove their God appointed status and responsibility, God gave them the power to do some miraculous things before Pharaoh; but the sorcerers and magicians of Egypt could also do some of the same things as well (Exodus 7:8-12, 19-22; 8:5-7). There is no doubt that the power working in the sorcerers and magicians of Egypt was not the power of God; and next to God, the only other power is that of Satan. Also, these sorcerers and magicians were present with the Pharaoh even before Moses and Aaron came. The sorcerers and magicians of Egypt could have stayed before the Pharaoh and gained his confidence only by having done some extra-ordinary or super-natural things. It is only because of this that Pharaoh very confidently put them up to face the challenge of Moses and Aaron, and in the initial stages they showed themselves to be at par with Moses and Aaron. 

• The Lord God, in His Law has commanded to stay away from people who practice witchcraft, are soothsayers, who interprets omens, or are sorcerers or a medium, or a spiritist, or one who conjures spells, or one who calls up the dead (Deuteronomy 18:9-14). The evident implication is that amongst those pagans living in the land God was giving to the Israelites, there were people who could do miraculous works and extra-ordinary things. Their presence and hold on the society is proof that they had some powers, other than the power of God, through which they did these things. But since those powers were not the power of God, therefore God did not want His people to come in contact with them and be influenced by them. Hence God commanded to stay away from them and destroy all such who were involved in these things.

• Similarly, King Nebuchadnezzar had kept in his court magicians, astrologers, and sorcerers; neither Nebuchadnezzar nor his magicians, astrologers, and sorcerers knew or believed in the living and true God Jehovah. But surely, those magicians, astrologers, and sorcerers, to find and maintain a place in the royal court, must have in some way proven their powers and abilities before King Nebuchadnezzar. But now, they were unable to know or interpret the dream God showed to the King (Daniel 2:2-7; 4:4-7); and this was a proof that whatever power they had, it was not only different from the power of God, but was also lesser than God’s power.

• Simon the sorcerer used to amaze people with his sorcery, and had so influenced the people that they thought of him having a divine power (Acts 8:9-11). Meaning, he too had some super-natural power, through which he was able to amaze and influence people; but though he claimed to become a Christian Believer, but he had not let go of his power. That is why Peter in confronting him about his true status, says to him, “You have neither part nor portion in this matter, for your heart is not right in the sight of God. Repent therefore of this your wickedness, and pray God if perhaps the thought of your heart may be forgiven you. For I see that you are poisoned by bitterness and bound by iniquity” (Acts 8:21-23). If he had actually been saved and Born-Again, then God the Holy Spirit would be residing in him and Peter would never have had the need to address him the manner he did; meaning the powers working in Simon, were not the powers of God.

• Paul cast out an evil spirit from a slave girl who used to foretell things (Acts 16:16-18). If the spirit in that girl had been from God, why would Paul need to cast it out? Rather, he would have then asked her to speak about them, their ministry, and affirm their work; he would have used her to glorify God.

• Those who used to practice magical arts, after coming into the Christian Faith, brought out their books about magic and burnt them (Acts 19:18-19). This means that their art was acknowledged, taught, and learnt. At that time, when books all being hand-written, were so difficult to obtain and make copies of, why would people write, make copies of, and keep books related to false and unrealistic, unproven things? The implication is that even if all of it was not true, still, there must have been some truth in those books about those magical arts, because of which the common public could be influenced and controlled. But whatever it was, it was not from God or in accordance with the Christian Faith, that is why it was all burnt up and destroyed.

• God the Holy Spirit warned the Christian Believers in Thessalonica through Paul, not to go after signs and wonders, because in the end-times Satan will beguile and deceive many into utter destruction by them; because instead of believing in the Word of God and its truths, they chose to be influenced by signs and wonders and believe them, and got waylaid by the false things(2 Thessalonians 2:9-12).

• We see that the prophets of the Old Testament, the Lord Jesus, and the Apostles of the New Testament brought the dead back to life; but in the end days, Satan will put breath and make alive even an image and make it speak (Revelation 13:14-15). 

From the above examples it is clear that all miracles, signs and wonders are neither form God not by the power of God. Satan too can do, and does do these things to beguile people and to keep them under his control. So, how then can we recognize which miracles, signs, and wonders are from God, and which are through the power of Satan? The Bible is very clear about it, that the primacy is of the Word of God and its obedience. Meaning everything that is through the power God, will always be according to His Word, and in obedience to Him. Whichever miracle, sign, or wonder does not have this primary and main characteristic, is not from God. A second important point of discernment we find in 1 Corinthians 12:7, whatever is from God, will never be for the name, fame and benefit of any person, but will always be for the benefit of the Church and to glorify God. Even if the name of the Lord or God is associated with those miracles, signs and wonders and the people performing them, but if their purpose is not the benefit of the Church, the preaching and propagating the Gospel and telling the people about the forgiveness of sins and eternal life through faith in the Lord Jesus, of exalting the name of the Lord Jesus (John 2:14-15), then the association of the name of the Lord and of God with them is vain, a deception, is only meant to beguile and mislead people into wrong things.

The Lord Jesus has given a very important teachings in His Sermon on the Mount, “Not everyone who says to Me, 'Lord, Lord,' shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. Many will say to Me in that day, 'Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?' And then I will declare to them, 'I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!'” (Matthew 7:21-23). Take note of the things the Lord has said here:

• The people whom the Lord Jesus addressed here, were those who were appealing to Him, not to any pagan deity or super-natural power.

• Numerically, they would be “many” not a few.

• Whatever they had done, they had done in the name of the Lord; not in their own name or in the name of a pagan deity.

• Whatever they claimed they had done in the name of the Lord, are all the same things that those who preach, teach, and propagate wrong doctrines and false teachings about the Holy Spirit claim and do - prophesy, cast out demons, perform miracles, signs and wonders, etc.

• They did these things not occasionally, but often and plentifully.

• They never said that in the name of the Lord they “tried to do these things” or that they “desired to do these things”, but that they did them; i.e., all these things were done by them and the people saw them do it all.

• The Lord Jesus never said to them that “you tried doing it all in my name, but could not do it”; but by not contradicting their claim, the Lord indirectly affirmed the truth of their claims and works.

• But still, the Lord Jesus said to them, “I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!'”

• Instead of calling their claims false and lies, He rejected them and their works, calling them practicing of lawlessness, or iniquity.

The reason behind this unexpected and harsh statement from the Lord against them is in the last part of verse 21, “he who does the will of My Father in heaven”; meaning, the obedience to God and His Word was not present in their lives. They were many in number, and they very often and bountifully, in the name of the Lord Jesus, prophesied, cast out demons, perform miracles, signs and wonders, but they did not walk in the will of God. They had their own concepts, own beliefs, own contrived teachings and doctrines, and they not only did and followed their own things but also made others do the same, all in the name of the Lord. But their doing and teaching these things in the name of the Lord did not make them valid things of God. They were all ungodly things and teachings from the human mind, and they remained just that. The Lord did not accord them any importance or credibility; He not only rejected them and what they did, but also cast them all out from His presence.

If you are a Christian Believer and are engaged, or want to be engaged in Christian Ministry, then it is essential for you that you recognize your God ordained ministry and the Spiritual gifts the Holy Spirit has kept for you to fulfill that ministry worthily. God’s Holy Spirit, His Word and your sincere prayers about this will help you find out about this; and then you should get into sincerely and diligently carrying out God’s will for you. Do not get carried away by populistic and attractive but unBiblical teachings and preaching, nor fall for the temptation of gaining name, fame, status, physical and worldly things through using the name of God. Do only that which the Lord has kept for you, and do it as the Lord has taught about it in His Word.

If you are still thinking of yourself as being a Christian, a child of God, entitled to a place in heaven, because of being born in a particular family and having fulfilled the religious rites and rituals prescribed under your religion or denomination since your childhood, then you too need to come out of your misunderstanding of Biblical facts and start learning, understanding, and living according to what the Word of God says, instead of what any denominational creed says or teaches. Make the necessary corrections in your life now while you have the time and opportunity; lest by the time you realize your mistake, it is too late to do anything about it.

If you are still not Born Again, have not obtained salvation, or have not asked the Lord Jesus for forgiveness for your sins, then you have the opportunity to do so right now. A short prayer said voluntarily with a sincere heart, with heartfelt repentance for your sins, and a fully submissive attitude, “Lord Jesus, I confess that I have disobeyed You, and have knowingly or unknowingly, in mind, in thought, in attitude, and in deeds, committed sins. I believe that you have fully borne the punishment of my sins by your sacrifice on the cross, and have paid the full price of those sins for all eternity. Please forgive my sins, change my heart and mind towards you, and make me your disciple, take me with you." God longs for your company and wants to see you blessed, but to make this possible, is your personal decision. Will you not say this prayer now, while you have the time and opportunity to do so - the decision is yours.
