बहुधा यह प्रश्न उठाया जाता है कि बाइबल में यीशु को कभी भी परमेश्वर नहीं कहा गया है, तो फिर मसीही, या ईसाई लोग क्यों उसके परमेश्वर होने का दावा करते हैं, उसे परमेश्वर कहकर संबोधित करते हैं? वे उसे केवल परमेश्वर का एक नबी, या, परमेश्वर द्वारा एक विशेष अभिप्राय के लिए नियुक्त तथा विशेष रीति से सामर्थ्य प्रदान किया हुआ मनुष्य क्यों स्वीकार नहीं कर लेते हैं? इस लेख से लोगों को बाइबल से यह देखने और समझने में सहायता मिलेगी कि क्यों मसीही यह दावा करते हैं कि प्रभु यीशु परमेश्वर है। बाइबल के बहुत से पद यह सीधे से दिखाते हैं कि यीशु परमेश्वर है, और उन में से कुछ यहाँ पर इस लेख में दिए गए हैं। ये पद दिखाते हैं कि स्वयं परमेश्वर ने प्रभु यीशु को अपना पुत्र कहा है, तथा प्रभु यीशु ने भी यह दिखाया है कि वह परमेश्वर है।
परमेश्वर पिता ने प्रभु यीशु को अपना “प्रिय पुत्र” कहा: प्रभु यीशु के बपतिस्मे के समय, “और यह आकाशवाणी हुई, कि तू मेरा प्रिय पुत्र है, तुझ से मैं प्रसन्न हूं” (मरकुस 1:11); इसी सन्दर्भ में मत्ती 3:17 और लूका 3:22 भी देखें। पहाड़ पर रूपांतरण के समय भी, “वह बोल ही रहा था, कि देखो, एक उजले बादल ने उन्हें छा लिया, और देखो; उस बादल में से यह शब्द निकला, कि यह मेरा प्रिय पुत्र है, जिस से मैं प्रसन्न हूं: इस की सुनो” (मत्ती 17:5); इसी सन्दर्भ में मरकुस 9:7 और लूका 9:35 भी देखें।
बाद में, प्रेरितों पतरस और यूहन्ना ने भी रूपांतरण के पहाड़ की इस घटना के बारे में अपनी पत्रियों में भी गवाही दी। पतरस ने लिखा, “कि उसने परमेश्वर पिता से आदर, और महिमा पाई जब उस प्रतापमय महिमा में से यह वाणी आई कि यह मेरा प्रिय पुत्र है जिस से मैं प्रसन्न हूं” (2 पतरस 1:17)। और यूहन्ना कहता है, “उस जीवन के वचन के विषय में जो आदि से था, जिसे हम ने सुना, और जिसे अपनी आंखों से देखा, वरन जिसे हम ने ध्यान से देखा; और हाथों से छूआ। (यह जीवन प्रगट हुआ, और हम ने उसे देखा, और उस की गवाही देते हैं, और तुम्हें उस अनन्त जीवन का समाचार देते हैं, जो पिता के साथ था, और हम पर प्रगट हुआ)। जो कुछ हम ने देखा और सुना है उसका समाचार तुम्हें भी देते हैं, इसलिये कि तुम भी हमारे साथ सहभागी हो; और हमारी यह सहभागिता पिता के साथ, और उसके पुत्र यीशु मसीह के साथ है। और ये बातें हम इसलिये लिखते हैं, कि हमारा आनन्द पूरा हो जाए” (1 यूहन्ना 1: 1-4)।

प्रभु यीशु ने अपने शिष्य, थोमा की आराधना को, जिस में उसने यीशु को प्रभु और परमेश्वर कहकर संबोधित किया, स्वीकार किया “यह सुन थोमा ने उत्तर दिया, हे मेरे प्रभु, हे मेरे परमेश्वर!” (यूहन्ना 20:28), प्रभु ने थोमा को यह कहने के लिए मना नहीं किया, उसे गलत नहीं बताया। यदि यह वास्तविक बात, और पूर्णतः सत्य नहीं होता, तो फिर थोमा की कही बात घोर ईश-निन्दा, पूर्णतः अस्वीकार्य, और कड़ी भर्त्सना के साथ तुरंत तिरस्कार कर देने के योग्य थी। किन्तु न तो प्रभु यीशु ने, और न ही वहाँ उपस्थित अन्य शिष्यों ने, जो सभी यहूदी थे, इस बात की कोई निन्दा या आलोचना नहीं की। साथ ही, इस बात का पवित्र शास्त्र में लिखा जाना इसकी वास्तविकता और सत्य की पुष्टि करता है।
प्रभु यीशु ने अपने आप को “मैं हूँ” कहा – जो कि यहूदियों द्वारा परमेश्वर का एक नाम माना जाता था, और प्रभु के यह कहने के लिए वे उसका पत्थरवाह करके उसे मार डालना चाहते थे, “यीशु ने उन से कहा; मैं तुम से सच सच कहता हूं; कि पहिले इसके कि इब्राहीम उत्पन्न हुआ मैं हूं। तब उन्होंने उसे मारने के लिये पत्थर उठाए, परन्तु यीशु छिपकर मन्दिर से निकल गया” (यूहन्ना 8:58-59)। इस अभिव्यक्ति का प्रयोग करने के द्वारा वह अपने ईश्वरत्व को उन पर प्रकट कर रहा था।
प्रभु यीशु के द्वारा किए गए आश्चर्यकर्म उसके परमेश्वर होने की पुष्टि करते हैं। न केवल उसने लोगों को चंगा किया, बल्कि जन्म के अंधों को आँखें दीं, और मुर्दों को भी जिला उठाया। परमेश्वर के अतिरिक्त और कोई भी मरे हुओं को वापस ज़िंदा नहीं कर सकता है, प्रभु यीशु ने किया। फरीसियों ने भी, जो उसके कट्टर विरोधी थे, इस बात को माना कि परमेश्वर की उपस्थिति उसके साथ है, “फरीसियों में से नीकुदेमुस नाम एक मनुष्य था, जो यहूदियों का सरदार था। उसने रात को यीशु के पास आकर उस से कहा, हे रब्बी, हम जानते हैं, कि तू परमेश्वर की ओर से गुरु हो कर आया है; क्योंकि कोई इन चिन्हों को जो तू दिखाता है, यदि परमेश्वर उसके साथ न हो, तो नहीं दिखा सकता” (यूहन्ना 3:1-2)।
यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु, मैं अपने पापों के लिए पश्चातापी हूँ, उनके लिए आप से क्षमा माँगता हूँ। मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मुझे और मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

Often a question is raised that Jesus has never been called God in the Bible, then why do Christians claim that He is God? Why don’t they accept Him as a prophet, or God’s specially empowered human being, ordained for a special purpose by God? This article will help people see and understand from the Bible, why Christians claim that Lord Jesus is God. Many verses of the Bible directly show that Jesus is God, given here are some of them, where God Himself has testified of Jesus being His Son, and Jesus has shown that He is God.
God the Father called the Lord Jesus His “beloved Son”: At the baptism of Jesus, “Then a voice came from heaven, "You are My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased" (Mark 1:11)”; see also Matthew 3:17, Luke 3:22 in this context. At the Mount of Transfiguration, “While he was still speaking, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them; and suddenly a voice came out of the cloud, saying, "This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. Hear Him!" ” (Matthew 17:5); see also Mark 9:7 and Luke 9:35 in this context.
Later the apostle Peter and John testified of this event on the Mount of Transfiguration in their epistles: “For He received from God the Father honor and glory when such a voice came to Him from the Excellent Glory: "This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased" ” (2 Peter 1:17); “That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, concerning the Word of life -- the life was manifested, and we have seen, and bear witness, and declare to you that eternal life which was with the Father and was manifested to us -- that which we have seen and heard we declare to you, that you also may have fellowship with us; and truly our fellowship is with the Father and with His Son Jesus Christ. And these things we write to you that your joy may be full” (1 John 1:1-4).
The Jews well understood that Jesus’s saying God was His Father was another way of expressing being equal with God, which they considered this as blasphemy deserving the death penalty (John 5:18, 23; John 10:30, 33; John 19:7). The Lord Jesus not only presented Himself to them as the Son of God, but He repeatedly addressed God as His father also. From the Jewish point-of-view this was nothing short of making Himself co-equal with God and they wanted to kill Him for this: “But Jesus answered them, "My Father has been working until now, and I have been working." Therefore the Jews sought all the more to kill Him, because He not only broke the Sabbath, but also said that God was His Father, making Himself equal with God” (John 5:17-18); “The Jews answered him, "We have a law, and according to our law He ought to die, because He made Himself the Son of God" (John 19:7)”. Lord Jesus never denied this fact of being the Son of God and thereby being co-equal with God, even under the charge of blasphemy and the threat of death: “The Jews answered Him, saying, "For a good work we do not stone You, but for blasphemy, and because You, being a Man, make Yourself God" (John 10:33); rather, He openly declared that He and the Father, i.e., God were one and the same, and having seen Him means having seen God (John 10:30; John 12:45; John 14:9).
Lord Jesus accepted the worship of His disciple Thomas when he addressed Him as Lord and God: “And Thomas answered and said to Him, "My Lord and my God!" ”(John 20:28), and did not correct him about this. This would have been utter blasphemy, absolutely unacceptable, worthy of severe condemnation and forthright rejection if it had been anything but the truth. That none of the other disciples, who were all Jews, objected to it and that it has been recorded in the Scriptures is proof of its authenticity.
Lord Jesus addressed himself as ‘I AM’ – an expression that was known and accepted as the name of God by the Jews, because of which they wanted to stone Him to death: “Jesus said to them, "Most assuredly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I AM." Then they took up stones to throw at Him; but Jesus hid Himself and went out of the temple, going through the midst of them, and so passed by” (John 8:58-59). By using this expression He was asserting His Divinity to them.
The miracles performed by Jesus testify to His being God. Not only did He heal people, even those who had been born blind, but He even brought people back to life. No one but God can bring people back from the dead, Jesus did. Even the Pharisees, who were His bitter opponents, acknowledged that He was from God: “There was a man of the Pharisees named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews. This man came to Jesus by night and said to Him, "Rabbi, we know that You are a teacher come from God; for no one can do these signs that You do unless God is with him" ” (John 3:1-2).
If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord, make your decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now to ensure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Repenting of your sins, and asking the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily and sincerely, surrendering yourself to Him - is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life. Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.
