“उसके नाम पर विश्वास” से अभिप्राय

  

    कल हमने प्रभु यीशु मसीह में विश्वास करने के अर्थ को देखना आरंभ किया था। हमने इसे समझने के लिए परमेश्वर के वचन बाइबल में से दो पदों, मत्ती 1:21 और यूहन्ना 1:12 को लिया था। हमने मत्ती 1:21 के आधार पर कल यह देखा था कि प्रभु यीशु मसीह का जन्म ही लोगों को उनके पापों से छुटकारा देने और सुरक्षित करने के उद्देश्य से हुआ था। प्रभु यीशु मसीह ही वे एकमात्र हैं जो मनुष्यों को उनके पापों से छुटकारा प्रदान कर सकते हैं, किसी भी मनुष्य के द्वारा अपने आप या अपने लिए यह कर पाना कभी संभव नहीं होने पाया था। किन्तु साथ ही हमने यह भी देखा था कि प्रभु यीशु मसीह द्वारा उपलब्ध करवाया गया यह छुटकारा और सुरक्षा उनके लिए ही उपलब्ध और कारगर जो प्रभु यीशु के लोग हैं। जिसे भी यह छुटकारा और सुरक्षा चाहिए उसे पहले प्रभु का जन बनना पड़ेगा, और तब प्रभु द्वारा उपलब्ध करवाया गया यह उपाय उसके जीवन में कार्यकारी हो सकेगा। प्रभु का जन बनने का तरीका हमें यूहन्ना 1:12 में दिया गया है - स्वेच्छा से प्रभु यीशु को ग्रहण करना, और उसके नाम पर विश्वास करना। प्रभु यीशु का जन होना किसी मानवीय पद्धति या क्रिया से, अथवा अन्य किसी प्रकार से संभव नहीं है। 

“परन्तु जितनों ने उसे ग्रहण किया, उसने उन्हें परमेश्वर के सन्तान होने का अधिकार दिया, अर्थात उन्हें जो उसके नाम पर विश्वास रखते हैं। वे न तो लहू से, न शरीर की इच्छा से, न मनुष्य की इच्छा से, परन्तु परमेश्वर से उत्पन्न हुए हैं” (यूहन्ना 1:12-13)। इन पदों का दूसरा अर्ध-भाग स्पष्ट कर देता है कि प्रभु यीशु मसीह को अपना उद्धारकर्ता ग्रहण करने वाले किसी मनुष्य के वंश अथवा प्रयास से नहीं वरन मसीह में अपने विश्वास के द्वारा “परमेश्वर से उत्पन्न हुए हैं।”” और जिस विश्वास के द्वारा उनके लिए यह संभव हुआ है, वह प्रथम अर्ध-भाग के अंत में दिया गया है, “जो उसके नाम पर विश्वास रखते हैं।” इस वाक्यांश में एक छोटा सा शब्द ‘पर’ प्रमुख किया गया है, क्योंकि वही इस बात को समझने की कुंजी है। यह वाक्यांश बता रहा है कि प्रभु यीशु मसीह को वे ग्रहण करते हैं, परमेश्वर की संतान वे बनते हैं जो “उसके नाम” पर विश्वास करते हैं। 

इसे समझने के लिए इन दोनों शब्दों, “उसके” और “यीशु” को देखिए। यूहन्ना 1 अध्याय में इन पदों से पहले के पदों को देखने से स्पष्ट हो जाता है कि बात उस “वचन” अर्थात सृष्टिकर्ता परमेश्वर की हो रही है, जो देहधारी होकर जगत में आया। अर्थात “उसके” से अभिप्राय उस सृष्टिकर्ता परमेश्वर से है जिसने मानव देह में होकर जन्म लिया। इस मानव देह में अवतरित परमेश्वर का नाम “यीशु” रखा गया। शब्द हिन्दी का शब्द “यीशु” बाइबल के नए नियम खंड की मूल यूनानी भाषा के शब्द “ईएसोऊस (Iesous)” से आया है। यूनानी भाषा का नाम “ईएसोऊस” पुराने नियम की मूल इब्रानी भाषा के नाम “यहोशूआ” से आया है। इब्रानी भाषा का नाम “येहोशूआ” एक संयुक्त शब्द है, जो दो शब्दों, संज्ञा “यहोवा” एवं शब्द “शूआ” की संधि से बना है। संज्ञा “यहोवा” इब्रानी में परमेश्वर का नाम है; और इब्रानी शब्द “शूआ” का अर्थ होता है “मुक्ति देने वाला” या “स्वतंत्र करने वाला”। अर्थात मूल इब्रानी भाषा के अनुसार शब्द “यहोशूआ” और उससे निकले यूनानी शब्द “ईएसोऊस” तथा हिन्दी शब्द “यीशु” का अर्थ है “यहोवा ही मुक्ति या स्वतंत्रता देने वाला है”। इसलिए यूहन्ना 1:12 के वाक्यांश “जो उसके नाम पर विश्वास रखते हैं” का अभिप्राय हो गया “जो यह विश्वास रखते हैं कि यहोवा ही मुक्ति या स्वतंत्रता देने वाला है”।

अर्थात, यीशु पर विश्वास करने, उस ग्रहण करने और इस के कारण परमेश्वर की संतान हो जाने का तात्पर्य है, इस तथ्य को ग्रहण करना या अपने जीवन में स्वीकार करना तथा कार्यान्वित करना कि केवल प्रभु यीशु मसीह ही वह एकमात्र है जिसके द्वारा पापों से मुक्ति, नश्वर संसार से स्वतंत्रता मिल सकती है। प्रभु यीशु मसीह के अतिरिक्त और कोई मार्ग अथवा माध्यम या तरीका नहीं है, जैसा कि प्रभु यीशु मसीह ने स्वयं भी अपने विषय में कहा, “यीशु ने उस से कहा, मार्ग और सच्चाई और जीवन मैं ही हूं; बिना मेरे द्वारा कोई पिता के पास नहीं पहुंच सकता” (यूहन्ना 14:6)। मनुष्यों के अपने किसी भी प्रयास, विधि, कर्म, धर्म, जीवन शैली, आदि के द्वारा उसे उसके पापों से यह मुक्ति या स्वतंत्रता कदापि नहीं मिल सकती है। यह केवल प्रभु यीशु मसीह के नाम पर लाए गए विश्वास द्वारा ही संभव है; किसी अन्य तरीके से नहीं। जो कोई भी स्वेच्छा और सत्य-निष्ठा से इस प्रकार प्रभु यीशु का जन हो जाएगा, मत्ती 1:21 के अनुसार, प्रभु यीशु उसे पापों से छुटकारा और सुरक्षा प्रदान करेगा, और वह परमेश्वर की संतान हो जाएगा। 

कल और आज के लेखों का सम्मिलित निष्कर्ष है कि परमेश्वर के वचन बाइबल के अनुसार प्रभु यीशु मसीह पर विश्वास करने का अर्थ है यह ग्रहण करना और अपने जीवन में कार्यान्वित करना कि केवल और केवल प्रभु यीशु मसीह ही मुझे मेरे पापों से छुड़ा सकता है, सुरक्षित कर सकता है; और जब मैं इस बात को ग्रहण करके अपने आप को उसे समर्पित कर दूँगा, उसका जन बना जाऊँगा, तब प्रभु यीशु मुझे मेरे पापों से छुड़ा कर उनके दुष्प्रभावों से सुरक्षित भी कर देगा, और परमेश्वर की संतान बनाकर उसका मेल-मिलाप परमेश्वर के साथ करवा देता है।

   

कल हम कुछ ऐसी बातों के बारे में देखेंगे, जिन पर सामान्यतः लोग भरोसा रखते हैं कि उनके द्वारा वे प्रभु के जन बन जाएंगे और पापों से छुटकारा एवं सुरक्षा पा जाएंगे, किन्तु यह केवल उनका भ्रम है, बाइबल की सच्चाई नहीं। यदि आपने अभी तक अपने आप को प्रभु यीशु मसीह की शिष्यता में समर्पित नहीं किया है, और आप अभी भी अपने जन्म अथवा संबंधित धर्म तथा उसकी रीतियों के पालन के आधार पर अपने आप को प्रभु का जन समझ रहे हैं, तो आपको भी अपनी इस गलतफहमी से बाहर निकलकर सच्चाई को स्वीकार करने और उसका पालन करने की आवश्यकता है। आज और अभी आपके पास अपनी अनन्तकाल की स्थिति को सुधारने का अवसर है; प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

English Translation 

 Understanding the Meaning of “Believe in His Name”

    In the last article, we had started to see the meaning of believing in the Lord Jesus Christ. To understand this, we had taken two verses from God’s Word - Matthew 1:21 and John 1:12. We had seen on the basis of Matthew 1:21 that the Lord Jesus was born to deliver people from their sins and make them safe. The Lord Jesus is the one and only one who can deliver men from their sins, and it had never been possible for anyone, ever, to do this on his own or for himself. But we had also seen that this deliverance provided by the Lord Jesus Christ is only available and effective in the lives of those who are “His people.” Whosoever wants to have this deliverance and safety from the Lord, will first have to become “His people” and only then will this provision from the Lord become available to him, and effective in his life. The way to become “His people” is given to us in John 1:12 - to willingly accept the Lord Jesus and believe in His name. There is no other way, nor any man-made process by which one can become “His people.” 

“But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God” (John 1:12-13). These verses, specially their second-half also make it very clear that those who accept the Lord Jesus as their saviour, are neither granted this privilege because of being born in any particular family nor do they accomplish this by any of their efforts of any kind, but it is by coming to faith in the Lord Jesus that they are born “of God.” The way by which they have come to faith in the Lord Jesus is stated in the first half, “those who believe in His name.” A small word “in” (in most English translations ‘in’ is used, some translations use ‘on’ instead of ‘in’ but the meaning and implication remains the same, whichever is used), that has been made prominent, holds the key to understanding this statement. This phrase or statement from these verses is telling us that “those who believe in His name”, only they are the ones who have actually accepted the Lord or come to faith in Him, and become the children of God. 

To understand this, we will also look at two other words, “His” and “Jesus.” When we look at the preceding verses in John 1, it becomes clear to us that the subject of this verse is the creator God, the “Word” that came to earth in human form.  This incarnate God, for His human form, was given the name “Jesus.” The word ‘Jesus’ is the translated form of the Greek word ‘Iesous’; and ‘Iesous’ has come from the original Hebrew Old Testament name ‘Jehoshua.’ The noun ‘Jehoshua’ is a compound word, and is made up of two words “Jehovah” and “shua.” The word “Jehovah” is the Hebrew language expression or name of God; whereas the Hebrew word “shua” means ‘the one who liberates’ or ‘the one who sets free.’ Therefore, the meaning of the Hebrew word ‘Jehoshua’, its Greek translation ‘Iesous’, and its English translation ‘Jesus’, is “Jehovah liberates/sets free” or “Jehovah delivers and makes safe.” Through this, i.e., the meaning of the John 1:12 phrase “those who believe in His name”, is now apparent, it means “those who believe and accept that it is only Jehovah who liberates/sets free.”

Therefore, to believe in the Lord Jesus, to accept Him and thereby become a child of God means to believe in and accept the fact that the Lord Jesus is the one and only one who can liberate or set free from sin and the perishing world, and then to put this into practice in one’s life. God’s Word the Bible, testifies to this, that other than the Lord Jesus there is no other way to be set free from sin, at other places too. The Lord Jesus said this about Himself “Jesus said to him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me” (John 14:6). No man can be liberated or set free from sin by any of his works, good deeds, religion, lifestyle, etc. This is only possible by believing in the name, i.e., in the meaning of the name of Jesus. Whosoever, willingly and sincerely, will become “His People” in this manner, as per Matthew 1:21, the Lord Jesus will deliver him from his sins and make him safe, he will become a child of God.

The collective conclusion of yesterday’s and today’s articles is that Biblically speaking, to believe in the Lord Jesus Christ means, to accept and apply in one’s life the fact that only and only the Lord Jesus can set me free from my sins and make me safe; and when a person accepts this and submits his life to the Lord Jesus to live in obedience to Him, he becomes “His people,” and the Lord Jesus cleanses him from his sins and secures him from their harmful effects, reconciles him with God as a child of God.

In the next article we will look at some things on which many people trust in, to become the Lord’s people and to be made free from sin and its effects; but these are only their assumptions, a delusion; and not the actual Biblical truth. If you are still thinking of yourself as being a Christian, because of being born in a particular family and having fulfilled the religious rites and rituals prescribed under your religion or denomination since your childhood, then you too need to come out of your misunderstanding of Biblical facts and start understanding and living according to what the Word of God says, instead of what any denominational creed says or teaches.

If you are still not Born Again, have not obtained salvation, or have not asked the Lord Jesus for forgiveness for your sins, then you have the opportunity to do so right now. A short prayer said voluntarily with a sincere heart, with heartfelt repentance for your sins, and a fully submissive attitude, “Lord Jesus, I confess that I have disobeyed You, and have knowingly or unknowingly, in mind, in thought, in attitude, and in deeds, committed sins. I believe that you have fully borne the punishment of my sins by your sacrifice on the cross, and have paid the full price of those sins for all eternity. Please forgive my sins, change my heart and mind towards you, and make me your disciple, take me with you." God longs for your company and wants to see you blessed, but to make this possible, is your personal decision. Will you not say this prayer now, while you have the time and opportunity to do so - the decision is yours.

मसीही में विश्वास से अभिप्राय

    मसीही विश्वास एवं शिष्यता से संबंधित बातों को देखते हुए, हम पिछले दो लेखों से जान चुके हैं कि न तो मसीही विश्वास कोई धर्म है, और न ही किसी धर्म परिवर्तन की बात है, वरन आरंभिक मसीही विश्वासी स्वेच्छा से प्रभु यीशु मसीह की शिष्यता को स्वीकार करने वाले लोग थे। पिछले लेख में हमने आरंभिक मसीही विश्वास और विश्वासियों के इतिहास के बारे में बाइबल में की पुस्तक प्रेरितों के काम से देखा था कि आरंभिक मसीही विश्वासी “पंथ के लोग”, अर्थात सामान्य लोगों और संसार की जीवन शैली से पृथक एक विशिष्ट जीवन शैली जीने वाले लोग जाने जाते थे (प्रेरितों 9:2)। और कुछ समय के बाद वे जो प्रभु यीशु मसीह के शिष्य थे, उन्हें संसार के लोगों ने मसीही कहना आरंभ कर दिया (प्रेरितों 11:26)। निष्कर्ष यह कि परमेश्वर के वचन बाइबल के अनुसार मसीही वह है जो प्रभु यीशु मसीह का शिष्य है, और जो संसार से पृथक प्रभु यीशु द्वारा दिखाए मार्ग के अनुसार जीवन जीता है। मसीही विश्वास से संबंधित इन आधारभूत तथ्यों में एक और आधारभूत बात निहित है कि मसीही विश्वासी होना किसी भी व्यक्ति के अपने लिए समझ-बूझकर निर्णय लेने की आयु का होने से पहले हो पाना संभव नहीं है। अर्थात मसीही होना किसी परिवार विशेष में जन्म लेने के द्वारा या किसी धर्म के पालन के द्वारा नहीं है, वरन स्वेच्छा और सच्चे समर्पण के द्वारा प्रभु यीशु मसीह की शिष्यता को ग्रहण करने, उसे अपना उद्धारकर्ता स्वीकार के उसका अनुयायी हो जाने के द्वारा है। बाइबल के अनुसार तो इसके अतिरिक्त और कोई मार्ग है ही नहीं। 

    बहुत से लोग, विशेषकर ईसाई धर्म का पालन करने वाले, यह कहते हैं कि वे प्रभु यीशु मसीह में विश्वास करते हैं; तो क्या अपने इस दावे या धारणा के कारण वे उद्धार पाए हुए मसीही विश्वासी कहलाए जा सकते हैं? प्रभु यीशु मसीह में विश्वास करने का, बाइबल के आधार पर, क्या अर्थ है? क्या हर कोई व्यक्ति जो अपने ही किसी भी आधार पर प्रभु यीशु पर विश्वास करने का दावा करता है, वह उद्धार पाया हुआ मसीही विश्वासी है? इस बात को समझने के लिए हमें बाइबल के दो पदों का अध्ययन करना आवश्यक है। इनमें से पहला पद हमें स्पष्ट करेगा कि कैसे प्रभु यीशु पर विश्वास के द्वारा उद्धार या नया जन्म मिलता है; और दूसरा पद समझाएगा कि बाइबल के अनुसार मसीह यीशु में विश्वास करने का अर्थ क्या है। इन पदों में व्यक्त बातें परमेश्वर के वचन का वह आधार है जिसके अनुसार उद्धार, मसीही जीवन, और सुसमाचार प्रचार की सेवकाई प्रतिपादित की गई। ये दोनों पद हैं:

1. “वह पुत्र जनेगी और तू उसका नाम यीशु रखना; क्योंकि वह अपने लोगों का उन के पापों से उद्धार करेगा” (मत्ती 1:21)। 

2. “परन्तु जितनों ने उसे ग्रहण किया, उसने उन्हें परमेश्वर के सन्तान होने का अधिकार दिया, अर्थात उन्हें जो उसके नाम पर विश्वास रखते हैं। वे न तो लहू से, न शरीर की इच्छा से, न मनुष्य की इच्छा से, परन्तु परमेश्वर से उत्पन्न हुए हैं” (यूहन्ना 1:12-13)।

    आज हम इनमें से पहले पद को देखेंगे, और संबंधित दूसरे पद पर कल विचार करेंगे। आज के विचार के लिए, उसके संदर्भ सहित, प्रथम पद है “जब वह इन बातों के सोच ही में था तो प्रभु का स्वर्गदूत उसे स्‍वप्‍न में दिखाई देकर कहने लगा; हे यूसुफ दाऊद की सन्तान, तू अपनी पत्‍नी मरियम को अपने यहां ले आने से मत डर; क्योंकि जो उसके गर्भ में है, वह पवित्र आत्मा की ओर से है। वह पुत्र जनेगी और तू उसका नाम यीशु रखना; क्योंकि वह अपने लोगों का उन के पापों से उद्धार करेगा” (मत्ती 1:20-21)। प्रभु यीशु मसीह का सांसारिक पिता, यूसुफ, अपनी पत्नी मरियम को अपने घर लाने से घबरा रहा था, क्योंकि वह विवाह से पहले ही गर्भवती पाई गई थी। यूसुफ मरियम को छोड़ देने के बारे में विचार कर रहा था, ऐसे में उसे परमेश्वर की ओर से स्वप्न में स्वर्गदूत ने उसे आश्वस्त किया कि मरियम ने कुछ गलत नहीं किया है, वह अभी भी कुँवारी ही है, और यूसुफ बिना उस पर कोई संदेह किए उसे निःसंकोच अपने घर ला सकता है। फिर स्वर्गदूत यूसुफ को मरियम के गर्भ में जो पल रहा है, उसके बारे में बताता है, “वह पुत्र जनेगी और तू उसका नाम यीशु रखना; क्योंकि वह अपने लोगों का उन के पापों से उद्धार करेगा” (मत्ती 1:21), अर्थात, मरियम से एक पुत्र उत्पन्न होगा, और यूसुफ को उसका नाम यीशु रखना होगा, क्योंकि वह अपने लोगों का उनके पापों से उद्धार करेगा। इस पद के पहले अर्ध-भाग - पुत्र जनने और उसका नाम यीशु रखे जाने को हम कल इससे संबंधित दूसरे पद के साथ देखेंगे। आज हम इस पद के दूसरे अर्ध-भाग “क्योंकि वह अपने लोगों का उन के पापों से उद्धार करेगा” पर विचार करेंगे।

यह पद प्रभु यीशु मसीह के जन्म लेने के उद्देश्य को व्यक्त कर रहा है - लोगों को उनके पापों से उद्धार प्रदान करना। मूल यूनानी भाषा के जिस शब्द का अनुवाद “उद्धार” किया गया है, उसका शब्दार्थ होता है ‘छुड़ा लेना या सुरक्षित कर लेना’। अर्थात, मरियम से जन्म लेना वह पुत्र जिसका नाम यीशु रखा जाएगा, वह लोगों को उनके पापों से छुड़ा लेगा या सुरक्षित कर देगा। यह अपने आप में एक अति-विलक्षण और अभूत-पूर्व आश्वासन था; क्योंकि यह मनुष्यों का व्यावहारिक अनुभव था कि सभी धर्म-कर्म करने, सारे पर्व मनाने, विधि-विधानों को पूरा करने के बाद भी उनके जीवनों से पाप की उपस्थिति समाप्त नहीं होती थी; उन्हें फिर भी पाप के साथ संघर्ष करना पड़ता था, अपने पापों के दुष्परिणामों को झेलना होता था। अब प्रभु यीशु मसीह में संसार के लोगों को परमेश्वर की ओर से यह प्रावधान उपलब्ध करवाया जा रहा था, जो उन्हें उनके पापों की समस्या से छुड़ा कर सुरक्षित करेगा। 

किन्तु साथ ही इस पद में परमेश्वर की ओर से यह भी बताया गया था कि किन लोगों को उनके पापों से छुड़ाया और सुरक्षित किया जाएगा; जैसा यूसुफ से, उसे मिले दर्शन में, कहा गया और बाइबल में लिखा गया है, प्रभु यीशु “अपने लोगों को” उनके पापों से छुड़ाएगा और सुरक्षित करेगा। अर्थात जिसे पाप से छुटकारा और सुरक्षा चाहिए, उसे प्रभु यीशु का जन बनना होगा; और जो प्रभु यीशु का जन बन जाएगा, उसे प्रभु यीशु ही उसके पापों से छुड़ाएगा और सुरक्षित करेगा। उपरोक्त दूसरे पद यूहन्ना 1:12-13 से हम देखते हैं कि प्रभु यीशु का जन बनना उसे ग्रहण करने, उसके नाम पर विश्वास करने के द्वारा होता है, जिसकी व्याख्या हम कल देखेंगे। इस पद, मत्ती 1:21 में, यह भी निहित है कि लोगों के पापों से छुड़ाया जाना प्रभु यीशु ही उन्हें करके देगा; उन लोगों का इसमें कोई योगदान नहीं होगा, वे केवल प्रभु के किए हुए को स्वीकार करने और उसे अपने जीवन में कार्यान्वित करने वाले होंगे। उद्धार केवल प्रभु यीशु मसीह के द्वारा है, मनुष्य केवल उसे एक भेंट, एक उपहार के समान स्वीकार ही कर सकता है।

अर्थात, पापों की क्षमा और उद्धार या नया जन्म पाने के लिए व्यक्ति को सर्व-प्रथम स्वेच्छा तथा सत्य-निष्ठा से प्रभु यीशु का जन बनना अनिवार्य है। यह “बनना” किसी धर्म विशेष की बातों के निर्वाह अथवा किसी परिवार विशेष में जन्म ले लेने से स्वतः हो जाने वाली प्रक्रिया नहीं है। उपरोक्त यूहन्ना 1:12 के अनुसार, यह केवल प्रभु यीशु मसीह को ग्रहण करने, और उसके नाम पर विश्वास करने के द्वारा ही संभव है। 

यदि आपने अभी तक अपने आप को प्रभु यीशु मसीह की शिष्यता में समर्पित नहीं किया है, और आप अभी भी अपने जन्म अथवा संबंधित धर्म तथा उसकी रीतियों के पालन के आधार पर अपने आप को प्रभु का जन समझ रहे हैं, तो आपको अपनी इस गलतफहमी से बाहर निकलकर सच्चाई को स्वीकार करने और उसका पालन करने की आवश्यकता है। आज और अभी आपके पास अपनी अनन्तकाल की स्थिति को सुधारने का अवसर है; प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

 The Meaning of Faith in Christ

    In considering the various aspects of Christian Faith and Discipleship, in the last two articles, we have learnt that Christian Faith is not a religion, nor is it a matter of converting from one religion to another; rather as it was with the initial Christian Believers, it is voluntarily and willingly accepting being a disciple of the Lord Jesus Christ. In the previous article we had seen the history of the initial Christian Believers from the Book of Acts, that these initial Believers were “people of the way”, i.e., people who were separate from the world and the ways of the world and having a lifestyle that was quite distinct and different from the world (Acts 9:2). After some time, the people of the world started calling the disciples of Christ Christians (Acts 11:26). The conclusion is that the disciples of Christ are those, who live separate from the world according to the way shown by the Lord Jesus, only they actually are Christians. Implied in the fundamental facts related to the Christian Faith is another fundamental fact, that it is not possible for anyone to actually become a Christian Believer before attaining the age of being able to think over, evaluate, and take considered decisions. Therefore, it is not possible to be a Christian by birth, i.e., by virtue of being born in a particular family or by fulfilling the requirements of a particular religion; it can only be by voluntarily, willingly, sincerely submitting oneself to the Lord Jesus, to be His disciple, accepting Him as Lord and Savior. Biblically speaking, there is no other way to it. 

    Many people, particularly those who follow the Christian Religion, claim to believe in the Lord Jesus; therefore, because of this notion or claim, can they be called Christian Believers? Biblically speaking, what does it mean to believe in the Lord Jesus Christ? Can any person, who according to his own understanding and beliefs, claims to believe in the Lord Jesus, be considered a saved or Born-Again Christian Believer? To understand this, we need to study two verses from the Bible. The first verse will show us how one receives salvation or new birth by believing on the Lord Jesus; and the second verse will help us to understand what it means to believe on the Lord Jesus, Biblically. What has been expressed in these verses is the basis of the Biblical teachings about salvation, Christian life, and preaching of the gospel. These verses are:

1. “And she will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins” (Matthew 1:21).

2. “But as many, as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God” (John 1:12-13).

    Today, we will examine some aspects of the first of these two verses, and in the next article will take up the second one. For today’s consideration, let us look at the first verse along with its preceding verse, to see it in its context, is “But while he thought about these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, "Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take to you Mary your wife, for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit. And she will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins."” (Matthew 1:20-21). The earthly father of the Lord Jesus, Joseph was in a quandary about bringing his wife Mary home since she had been found to be pregnant before their marriage. Joseph was thinking about leaving Mary, but God’s Angel assured him that Mary had not done anything wrong, she was still a virgin, and Joseph can safely bring her home without doubting her. Then the Angel tells Joseph about the baby growing in her womb, “... she will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins” (Matthew 1:21); i.e., Mary will give birth to a son and Joseph has to name him Jesus because he will save his people from their sins. We will look at the first half of this verse, about giving birth to a son and naming him Jesus in the next article along with the related second verse. Today we will consider the second half of this verse “... for He will save His people from their sins.”

    This verse is stating the purpose of the Lord Jesus Christ’s birth - to save ‘His people’ from their sins. The word translated “save”, in the original Greek language, its literal meaning is “to release or to make safe.” That is to say that the son born to Mary, who was to be named Jesus, He will release or make safe those who become His people, from their sin. This is itself was an astounding and unprecedented assurance; since it was the practical experience of mankind that despite fulfilling all the religious rituals and deeds, celebrating all the feasts and festivals, and carrying out all the prescribed ceremonies, people’s lives were never made free from sin; they still had to struggle against sin and had to suffer the deleterious effects of sins in their lives. But now, through the Lord Jesus Christ, God was providing the remedy to deliver them from sin and make them safe.

    But along with this provision from God, this verse also states who will be the recipients of being delivered and made safe; as the Angel said to Joseph, and as it is written in the Bible, the Lord Jesus will deliver and make safe those who are “His people.” Therefore, those who want to be delivered from sin and made safe will first have to become “His people” i.e., a follower of Christ Jesus; and whosoever will become a disciple or follower of the Lord Jesus, he will be delivered and made safe, not by any of his own efforts, but by the Lord. We see from the afore-mentioned second verse, John 1:12-13 that this becoming “His people” i.e., a disciple or follower of the Lord is only by coming to faith in Him, by believing in His name; and we will see a detailed consideration of this in the next article. In this verse, Matthew 1:21, another thing that is implied is that it is the Lord who will accomplish and make available to “His people” this deliverance from sins and be made safe and secure. The “His people” themselves will have no role or contribution in their deliverance; they will only have to accept what the Lord has done and apply it in their life. Salvation is only through the Lord Jesus Christ; man can only receive it as a gift.

    The conclusion is that to attain salvation, i.e., receive the forgiveness of sins and be saved, the first and foremost requirement is that the person should voluntarily, willingly, and sincerely become “His people” i.e., a disciple or follower of the Lord Jesus. This becoming  “His people” i.e., a disciple of the Lord Jesus is not by fulfilling the requirements of any particular religion, nor is it automatically bestowed because of being born in a particular family. As it says in John1:12-13, this is only through accepting the Lord Jesus and believing in His name. If you are still thinking of yourself as being a Christian, because of being born in a particular family and having fulfilled the religious rites and rituals prescribed under your religion or denomination since your childhood, then you too need to come out of your misunderstanding of Biblical facts and start understanding and living according to what the Word of God says, instead of what any denominational creed says or teaches.

    If you are still not Born Again, have not obtained salvation, or have not asked the Lord Jesus for forgiveness for your sins, then you have the opportunity to do so right now. A short prayer said voluntarily with a sincere heart, with heartfelt repentance for your sins, and a fully submissive attitude, “Lord Jesus, I confess that I have disobeyed You, and have knowingly or unknowingly, in mind, in thought, in attitude, and in deeds, committed sins. I believe that you have fully borne the punishment of my sins by your sacrifice on the cross, and have paid the full price of those sins for all eternity. Please forgive my sins, change my heart and mind towards you, and make me your disciple, take me with you." God longs for your company and wants to see you blessed, but to make this possible, is your personal decision. Will you not say this prayer now, while you have the time and opportunity to do so - the decision is yours.

आरंभिक मसीही विश्वासी 

    मसीही विश्वास और शिष्यता पर इस नई शृंखला के पहले लेख में हमने कल परमेश्वर के वचन बाइबल में दिए गए इस विषय से संबंधित कुछ मूल तथ्यों को देखा था। हमने देखा था कि प्रभु यीशु मसीह ने न तो कोई धर्म बनाया, न अपने शिष्यों से बनवाया, न किसी धर्म के प्रचार के लिए कहा, और न ही किसी का कोई धर्म-परिवर्तन करने के निर्देश दिए। उन्होंने अपने शिष्यों से संसार भर में जाकर सभी लोगों को सुसमाचार सुनाने, उन्हें प्रभु का चेला बनाने, और जो स्वेच्छा से चेला बनना स्वीकार करता है, उसे प्रभु की बातें सिखाने और केवल उसे ही बपतिस्मा देने के लिए कहा (मत्ती 28:18-20)। नए नियम की पाँचवीं पुस्तक, ‘प्रेरितों के काम’ प्रभु यीशु के मसीह के आरंभिक शिष्यों और उनके समूह - मसीही मण्डलियों का इतिहास है; अर्थात, कैसे सुसमाचार प्रचार आरंभ हुआ, कैसे लोगों में फैला, उसके क्या प्रभाव तथा प्रतिक्रियाएं हुईं - अनुकूल भी और प्रतिकूल भी, आदि। आरंभिक मसीही मण्डलियों के स्थापित होने, बढ़ने और फैलने का यह विवरण कई रोचक तथ्यों को प्रकट करता है; इनमें से कुछ तथ्य हैं:

• सुसमाचार प्रचार और मण्डलियों की स्थापना परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा के शिष्यों पर उतर आने और उन्हें सामर्थ्य प्रदान करने के बाद ही होना था (प्रेरितों 1:8)। अर्थात, यह किसी मनुष्य द्वारा, या मनुष्यों के ज्ञान, बुद्धि और सामर्थ्य द्वारा किए जाने वाला कार्य नहीं था; यह केवल परमेश्वर की सामर्थ्य से और उसकी अगुवाई में होकर हो सकने वाला कार्य था; और किसी से भी नहीं। 

• सबसे पहला प्रचार ‘भक्त यहूदियों’ (प्रेरितों 2:5) के मध्य किया गया जो धार्मिक अनुष्ठानों का निर्वाह करने के लिए संसार भर से यरूशलेम में एकत्रित हुए थे। उन भक्त यहूदियों ने जब प्रभु यीशु मसीह द्वारा पापों की क्षमा और उद्धार के सुसमाचार को सुना, तो उन भक्त यहूदियों के ‘हृदय छिद गए’ और वे प्रभु के शिष्यों से अपनी स्थिति के समाधान का मार्ग पूछने लगे। तब पतरस ने उन्हें पश्चाताप करने और प्रभु यीशु की शिष्यता में आने, और बपतिस्मे के द्वारा अपने इस निर्णय की गवाही देने के लिए कहा (प्रेरितों 2:37-38)। अर्थात, उद्धार और परमेश्वर को स्वीकार्य होना मनुष्यों के भले या धार्मिक कार्यों से नहीं है, वरन प्रभु यीशु मसीह को उद्धारकर्ता स्वीकार करने के द्वारा है। जब सुसमाचार ने उनके मन की वास्तविक स्थिति उन पर प्रकट कर दी, तो सुनने वालों को अपनी रीति-रिवाजों को मानने और मनाने की भक्ति की व्यर्थता, तथा पापों की क्षमा और उद्धार के लिए किसी अन्य वास्तव में कारगर उपाय की आवश्यकता का एहसास हो गया। 

• आरंभ से ही मसीही विश्वासियों में चार गुण पाए जाते थे, जो आज भी व्यक्तिगत रीति से प्रत्येक सच्चे मसीही विश्वासी के विश्वास के जीवन के अभिन्न अंग हैं “और वे प्रेरितों से शिक्षा पाने, और संगति रखने में और रोटी तोड़ने में और प्रार्थना करने में लौलीन रहे” (प्रेरितों 2:42)। आज भी मसीही विश्वासियों की मण्डली की स्थिरता और उन्नति का आधार यही चार बातें हैं - मण्डली के लोगों द्वारा परमेश्वर के वचन का अध्ययन और शिक्षा, परस्पर संगति रखना, प्रभु-भोज में नियमित सम्मिलित होते रहना, और प्रार्थना करते रहना। 

• प्रभु ही अपनी मण्डली में उद्धार पाए हुए लोगों को जोड़ता जाता था, और लोग उन मसीही विश्वासियों से प्रसन्न रहते थे “और परमेश्वर की स्‍तुति करते थे, और सब लोग उन से प्रसन्न थे: और जो उद्धार पाते थे, उन को प्रभु प्रति दिन उन में मिला देता था” (प्रेरितों 2:47)। 

• मसीही विश्वासियों के कार्यों और सुसमाचार प्रचार से धर्म के अगुवे और सरदार बहुत अप्रसन्न हुए, जिससे प्रभु की मण्डलियों की स्थापना के साथ ही उन मण्डलियों और मण्डलियों के लोगों का विरोध एवं उन पर सताव भी आरंभ हो गया (प्रेरितों 8:1-3), किन्तु इससे मसीही विश्वासियों की संख्या में बढ़ोतरी ही हुई। 

• मसीही विश्वासियों के समूहों, मसीही मण्डलियों के आरंभ के समय से ही हम कहीं पर भी किसी ‘ईसाई धर्म’ या ‘मसीही धर्म’ या ‘धर्म के प्रचार’ का कहीं कोई उल्लेख नहीं पाते हैं। प्रेरितों 2:42 की उपरोक्त चार आधारभूत शिक्षाओं के पालन के अतिरिक्त, मसीही विश्वासियों में और कोई प्रथा, अनुष्ठान, या रीति-रिवाज़ के पालन, अथवा किसी भी त्यौहार या दिन को मनाने का कोई उल्लेख नहीं है। 

• गैर-मसीही लोगों ने मसीही विश्वासियों को एक नाम दिया था “पंथ के लोग” (प्रेरितों 9:2), और यही संज्ञा उनके साथ इस सारी पुस्तक में जुड़ी हुई है। अर्थात, लोगे देखते, जानते और मानते थे कि मसीही विश्वासी एक विशिष्ट लोगों का समुदाय है, जो सामान्य सांसारिकता और धार्मिक मार्गों से बिलकुल पृथक, एक अन्य ही विशिष्ट मार्ग पर चलते हैं; किन्तु इस ‘मार्ग’ या ‘पंथ’ का कोई अलग से नामकरण नहीं किया गया है, और न ही उस ‘पंथ’ या मार्ग को कोई ‘धर्म’ कहा गया है – न मसीहियों और न ही गैर-मसीहियों के द्वारा। 

• कुछ समय के बाद में मसीह यीशु के इन्हीं विश्वासियों, इन्हीं शिष्यों को एक अन्य स्थान पर समाज के अन्य लोगों द्वारा “मसीही” कहा गया “...और ऐसा हुआ कि वे एक वर्ष तक कलीसिया के साथ मिलते और बहुत लोगों को उपदेश देते रहे, और चेले सब से पहिले अन्‍ताकिया ही में मसीही कहलाए” (प्रेरितों 11:26)। ध्यान कीजिए, एक बार फिर यह प्रकट है कि मसीही विश्वासियों को किसी धर्म को मानने वाले नहीं कहा गया, और न ही किसी धर्म के साथ उन्हें जोड़ा गया; साथ ही जो मसीह यीशु के शिष्य थे, वे ही मसीही कहलाए। 

तो इस आरंभिक इतिहास से मसीही मण्डलियों और मसीही विश्वासियों के विषय में हम क्या शिक्षा लेते हैं? 

• सर्वप्रथम, जो सच्चा मसीही विश्वासी होगा, उसमें प्रेरितों 2:42 की चारों आधारभूत बातें विद्यमान होंगी; वह उनके महत्व को समझेगा और मानेगा। 

• दूसरे, मसीह यीशु का शिष्य होना, जीवनपर्यंत और हर परिस्थिति में एक ऐसी गवाही का जीवन जीना है कि समाज के लोग स्वतः ही पहचान जाएं कि प्रभु यीशु के ये अनुयायी अन्य सभी इसे भिन्न हैं, एक विशिष्ट ‘मार्ग’ या जीवन शैली के अनुसार रहते और चलते हैं। 

• तीसरे, बाइबल में दी गई परिभाषा के अनुसार मसीही वही है जो प्रभु यीशु मसीह का समर्पित शिष्य है, न कि किसी धर्म का पालन करने वाला या किन्हीं धार्मिक विधि-विधानों का निर्वाह करने वाला तथा कुछ विशेष दिन और त्यौहारों का मानने वाला है। 

• चौथी, यह सामान्य समझ एवं जानकारी की बात है कि कोई भी व्यक्ति किसी का शिष्य बनकर जन्म नहीं लेता है, वरन वयस्क होकर, स्वेच्छा से, जाँच-परख कर, किसी की शिष्यता को ग्रहण करता है, उसकी आज्ञाकारिता में अपने आप को समर्पित करता है। यही बात मसीही विश्वासी होने पर भी ऐसे ही लागू होती है। 

जैसा हम पहले के लेखों में विस्तार से देख चुके हैं, बाइबल के अनुसार, कोई भी व्यक्ति, कभी भी किसी परिवार विशेष में जन्म लेने से, या किसी धर्म विशेष के पालन करने से प्रभु यीशु का शिष्य नहीं हो जाता है। प्रत्येक व्यक्ति को अपने पापों के लिए पश्चाताप करके, प्रभु यीशु को अपना व्यक्तिगत उद्धारकर्ता स्वीकार करके, और उसकी शिष्यता में अपने आप को स्वेच्छा तथा सच्चे मन से समर्पित करने के द्वारा ही व्यक्ति के जीवन में यह संभव होने पाता है; और इसी को ‘नया जन्म’ पाना, अर्थात नश्वर सांसारिक स्थिति से निकलकर अविनाशी आत्मिक जीवन में परमेश्वर की संतान बनकर जन्म लेना और प्रवेश करना कहते हैं।

English Translation

 The Initial Christian Believers

    In this new series on Christian Faith and Discipleship, in yesterday’s article we saw about some basic principles related to this topic, from the Word of God. We saw that the Lord Jesus Christ neither started any religion, nor did He ask His disciples to start one in His name; He neither instructed His disciples to preach any religion, nor did He ask them to convert any body’s religion to another. He had only asked His disciples to go into the world and preach the gospel to everyone, make disciples, and those who voluntarily become and decide to live as His disciples, to teach them about Him and baptize them (Matthew 28:18-20). The fifth book of the New Testament, “The Acts of the Apostles” is the historical record of the life and activities of the initial disciples of the Lord Jesus, and of their congregation - the Assemblies of the Christian Believers. It tells us about how the preaching of the gospel began, how it spread amongst the people, what effects did it have, and what were the reactions of the people and communities - favorable as well as unfavorable, to it, etc. This record of the establishing, growing and spreading of the initial Believer’s Assemblies shows us many interesting facts about the Christian Faith and Discipleship; some of these are:

• The preaching of the gospel and establishing of the Assemblies could only happen only after the Holy Spirit’s descending upon and filling the disciples (Acts 1:8). Meaning, this was not a work done by any man, or through the knowledge, wisdom, and strength or power of any person; it could only be done through the power of God and His guidance; nothing else.

• The very first preaching was done amongst “devout Jews” (Acts 2:5), who had come to Jerusalem from all over the world, to fulfill religious obligations and rituals. Those devout Jews heard about the gospel of forgiveness of sins and salvation by the Lord Jesus Christ, then they were “cut to the heart” and they wanted to know from the disciples of the Lord, the remedy for their condition. Then Peter asked them to repent of their sins, and become disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ, and witness about this decision of theirs through baptism (Acts 2:37-38). Implying that salvation and being acceptable to God is not through being ‘devout’, i.e., any good or religious deeds of men, but only by accepting the Lord Jesus Christ as their savior. When the gospel exposed their actual inner condition to them, then those people who heard the gospel realized the vanity of their being devout through fulfilling religious rituals and ceremonies, and came to understand their need of a really effective remedy to provide forgiveness of sins and salvation to them.

• From the very beginning, the Christian Believers had four characteristics, and these are still an inseparable part of a Christian Believer’s life of faith even today, “And they continued steadfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers” (Acts 2:42). Even today, the basis of the steadfastness and growth of any Christian Assembly is the sincere and diligent observance of these four things - teaching and learning the Word of God, desire for mutual fellowship, regularly participating in the Lord’s Table, and praying together, by the members of the Assembly.

• It is the Lord who used to join those who were saved into the Assembly, and the disciples of the Lord had the favor of the people “praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily those who were being saved” (Acts 2:47). 

• The then religious leaders and elders were very displeased with the preaching of the gospel and works of the Christian Believers, because of which along with the establishing of the Believer’s Assemblies, their opposition and persecution also started (Acts 8:1-3); but this only resulted in the spread and growth of the Christian Believers.

• Since the very beginning of the Christian Believer’s Assemblies, we never find any mention of any ‘Christian Religion’ or preaching of any religion. There is no mention anywhere of any observances of any traditions, rituals, ceremonies, celebration of any days of festivals, etc., other than the four fundamental characteristics of Acts 2:42 stated above.

• The non-Christians gave the Christian Believers a name, ‘people of the way’ (Acts 9:2), and this name remained with them throughout this book. Meaning, that the people saw, knew, and believed that the Christian Believers are a group of special people, who live and walk very differently than the usual worldly and religious people; they live and walk according to a distinctly different walk of life. But take note, this ‘way’ was never given any proper name, and neither was it ever called a ‘religion’ throughout this book - nor by the Christian Believers, and neither by the non-believers.

• After some time, at another place, these Christian Believers or, ‘the people of the way’ were called ‘Christians’ by the people “... So it was that for a whole year they assembled with the church and taught a great many people. And the disciples were first called Christians in Antioch” (Acts 11:26). Take particular note here that it is once again evident that the Christian Believers were never called or known as followers of any religion, nor were they associated with any religion; rather, it only the disciples of Christ Jesus who were called ‘Christians’, not anyone else.

So, from this initial historical account of the Christian Believers and Christian Believer’s Assemblies, what lessons do we learn about them?

• Firstly, whosoever is truly a Christian Believer, in his life the sincere and diligent observance of the four fundamental characteristics of Acts 2:42 will be seen; he will understand their significance and necessity in his life.

• Secondly, to be disciple of the Lord implies living a life that witnesses for the Lord and His teachings, so that the people of the community automatically realize that he is different from the others; he lives and walks according to a special ‘way’ as a follower of Christ Jesus.

• Thirdly, as per the definition given in the Bible, only he is a Christian who is a committed disciple of the Lord Jesus; not the follower of a religion or one who fulfills certain religious rites-rituals-ceremonies and observes certain days and festivals.

• Fourthly, this is a matter of general knowledge and understanding that no one is ever born as someone’s disciple; rather, the person accepts being someone’s disciple – as an adult, voluntarily, after careful evaluation and examination of the life and teachings of the one whose discipleship is under consideration. Only then does a person accept to become another’s disciple; the same thing is applicable, in just the same manner, in becoming a Christian Believer - a disciple of the Lord Jesus Christ.

As we have already seen in detail in the previous articles, according to the Bible, no one ever becomes a disciple of the Lord Jesus by being born in a particular family or by fulfilling the requirements of a particular religion. Every person has to individually repent of his sins, has to personally accept the Lord Jesus as His savior and Lord, and has to voluntarily submit himself with a sincere and committed heart into discipleship of the Lord Jesus; only then does this become possible in a person’s life. This is what is known as being ‘Born-Again’ or saved, i.e., being born out of the perishing worldly condition, into an imperishable eternal spiritual life as a child of God.

In the next article we will look into and understand the meaning of being a disciple of the Lord Jesus Christ; subsequently, we will start looking in some detail into the characteristics of the disciples of Christ from the Bible. If you are still thinking of yourself as being a Christian, because of being born in a particular family, and having fulfilled the religious rites and rituals prescribed under your religion or denomination since your childhood, then like those ‘devout Jews’ you too need to come out of your misunderstanding of Biblical facts, and start living according to what the Word of God says, instead of what any denominational creed says or teaches.

If you are still not Born Again, have not obtained salvation, have not asked the Lord Jesus for forgiveness for your sins, then you have the opportunity to do so right now. A short prayer said voluntarily with a sincere heart, with heart-felt repentance for your sins, and a fully submissive attitude, “Lord Jesus, I confess that I have disobeyed You, and have knowingly or unknowingly, in mind, in thought, in attitude, and in deeds, committed sins. I believe that you have fully borne the punishment of my sins by your sacrifice on the cross, and have paid the full price of those sins for all eternity. Please forgive my sins, change my heart and mind towards you, and make me your disciple, take me with you." God longs for your company, wants to see you blessed; but to make this possible, is your personal decision. Will you not say this prayer now, while you have the time and opportunity to do so - the decision is yours.
