पवित्र आत्मा की निन्दा को कभी न क्षमा होने वाला पाप क्यों कहा गया है? - 1

    कभी न क्षमा होने वाला पाप – “पवित्र आत्मा की निन्दा या निरादर” को लेकर बहुत सी ग़लतफ़हमियाँ हैं, जिसके कारण इस अभिव्यक्ति का दुरुपयोग भी किया जाता है। यह निंदनीय है कि बहुत से प्रचारक तथा शिक्षक, मसीही विश्वासियों के मनों में अनुचित भय जागृत करने के लिए इस धारणा का दुरुपयोग करते हैं, जिससे कोई उनसे, उनके कार्यों और शिक्षाओं के लिए प्रश्न न कर सके। ऐसा करके ये लोग, प्रश्न करने वालों पर “पवित्र आत्मा का निरादर” करने का भय एवं आरोप लगाने के द्वारा, उनकी बहुत सी गलत सैद्धांतिक एवं विश्वास संबंधी शिक्षाओं, तथा उनके जीवन में पाए जाने वाले अनुचित व्यवहार के प्रति लोगों के मुंह बंद करते हैं। यह समझने के लिए कि यह “निरादर” वास्तव में है क्या, और यह क्यों केवल पवित्र आत्मा के विरुद्ध ही क्षमा नहीं हो सकता है, हमें परमेश्वर के वचन में से कुछ तथ्यों एवं शिक्षाओं को देखना होगा।

           सर्वप्रथम, यह केवल पवित्र आत्मा के विरुद्ध ही क्यों कहा गया है?

          

    परमेश्वर का वचन बाइबल हमारे प्रभु परमेश्वर को त्रिएक परमेश्वर दिखाती है, परमेश्वर पिता, परमेश्वर पुत्र – प्रभु यीशु मसीह, और परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा। ये तीनों हर प्रकार से और हर बात में पूर्णतः एक और सामान हैं, इन तीनों में कोई भी, किसी भी प्रकार की भिन्नता नहीं है – पवित्र त्रिएक परमेश्वर – एक परमेश्वर तीन व्यक्तित्वों में। तो फिर ऐसा क्यों है की केवल “पवित्र आत्मा के निरादर” के लिए ही इतने कठोर परिणाम दिए गए हैं, और इन ही परिणामों का न तो कोई संकेत और न ही कोई दावा परमेश्वर पिता, या परमेश्वर पुत्र – प्रभु यीशु के विरुद्ध किए गए निरादर के लिए कहा गया है?

           इसे समझने के लिए त्रिएक परमेश्वर के तीन व्यक्तित्वों के संबंध में कुछ बारीकियों को देखना होगा।

           परमेश्वर पुत्र – प्रभु यीशु मसीह, जब पृथ्वी पर हमारे उद्धारकर्ता बन कर आए, तो वे अपनी स्वर्गीय महिमा, वैभव, स्वरूप, और स्थान को छोड़कर आए थे। बाइबल बताती है कि मानव स्वरूप में उन्होंने अपने आप को स्वर्गीय महिमा से शून्य कर लिया और वे स्वर्गदूतों से थोड़ा कम किए गए थे (फिलिप्पियों 2:5-8; इब्रानियों 2:9)। इस मानवीय स्वरूप में, वे संसार के पाप उठाने और संसार के छुटकारे के लिए बलिदान होने के लिए आए थे। इसके लिए उनका, तुच्छ समझा जाना, उनके विरुद्ध बोला जाना, उनका दुःख और ताड़ना सहना, और संसार के लोगों से तिरिस्कृत एवं निरादर होना, पूर्वनिर्धारित था (यशायाह 53)। उन्हें भी वही सब अनुभव करना और सहना था जिसमें होकर संसार के लोग निकलते हैं; उन्हें किसी भी अन्य मनुष्य के सामान जीवन जीना था (इब्रानियों 4:15; 5:7-8), और अंततः क्रूस की श्रापित मृत्यु सहन करनी थी। उनके इस मानवीय स्वरूप और अस्तित्व के सन्दर्भ में, मृत्यु सहने के लिए स्वर्गदूतों से कुछ कम किए जाने से, उनका यह मानवीय स्वरूप उनके त्रिएक परमेश्वरीय स्वरूप से कुछ “कम” था। इसलिए उनके मानवीय स्वरूप की निंदा या निरादर का दोष, जिसे उन्हें सहना ही था, परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा के निरादर से कुछ कम और भिन्न होता। क्योंकि हमारे प्रभु को हमारे उद्धार का मार्ग प्रदान करने की अपनी सेवकाई के दौरान अपमान और तिरिस्कार सहना निर्धारित किया गया था, इसलिए उनके (अर्थात उनके मानव स्वरूप के) विरुद्ध कही गई, या कही जाने वाली निंदनीय बातों को क्षमा न हो सकने वाल पाप कहना उनके पृथ्वी पर आने के उद्देश्य को ही विफल कर देता, और संसार को छुटकारे के स्थान पर नाश में भेज देता। इसलिए परमेश्वर पुत्र की निंदा को क्षमा न हो सकने वाला पाप नहीं कहा जा सकता था।

           परमेश्वर पिता के संदर्भ में, शब्द “परमेश्वर” और “पिता” सभी संस्कृतियों और धर्मों में सामान्यतः प्रयोग किए जाने वाले शब्द हैं, जिन्हें नास्तिक और धर्म को न मानने वाले भी प्रयोग करते रहते हैं; बहुधा सौगंध खाने और अपशब्दों के साथ भी, जैसे कि, “अरे मेरे परमेश्वर/या ख़ुदा” “परमेश्वर नाश करे,” “परमेश्वर के श्रापित,” “परमेश्वर की सौगंध” आदि। किसी व्यक्ति द्वारा इन शब्दों का प्रयोग करने का यह अर्थ नहीं है कि वह इन्हें पवित्र त्रिएक परमेश्वरत्व में से पिता परमेश्वर के लिए प्रयोग कर रहा है। इसी प्रकार से शब्द “पिता” भी संसार भर में अनेकों अभिप्रायों के साथ प्रयोग किया जाता है, और इसे भी बहुधा अपशब्दों और सौगंध लेने में भी प्रयोग किया जाता है। इसलिए शब्द “पिता” तथा शब्द “परमेश्वर”, जो कि किसी भी मत अथवा धर्म में किसी आराध्य के लिए प्रयोग हो सकता है, का किसी भी प्रकार से दुरुपयोग, यदि उसे परमेश्वर के निरादर की परिभाषा से पृथक नहीं रखा जाता, तो स्वतः ही शब्दों का इस प्रकार से प्रयोग करने वाला व्यक्ति, तुरंत ही सदा काल के लिए दोषी ठहराया जाता, और उसके पास फिर कभी उद्धार पाने का कोई अवसर नहीं रहता। इसलिए ये दोनों शब्द “पिता” एवं “परमेश्वर” का दुरुपयोग कभी क्षमा न हो सकने वाले पापों में सम्मिलित नहीं किए जा सकता था।

           अब पवित्र त्रिएक परमेश्वरत्व में केवल परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा ही शेष रहा। यहां पर एक बहुत ही महत्वपूर्ण ध्यान देने योग्य बात यह है कि परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा का विचार केवल मसीही और यहूदी धर्म-विचारधारा में ही पाया जाता है; संसार के अन्य किसी भी धर्म या विश्वास में यह विद्यमान नहीं है। क्योंकि पवित्र आत्मा के बारे में पुराने नियम के समय में भी लोगों को भली-भांति पता था (उदाहरण के लिए, उत्पत्ति 1:2; भजन 104:30; 139:7 आदि) – जो कि वह पवित्र शास्त्र है जिसे फरीसी, सदूकी, और शास्त्री पढ़ा करते थे, इसलिए वे किसी भी प्रकार से उनके विषय अनभिज्ञ होने का दावा नहीं कर सकते थे, और न ही उनके त्रिएक परमेश्वर का भाग होने से अनजान होने का कह सकते थे। इसलिए, परमेश्वर पिता तथा परमेश्वर पुत्र के विषय में उपरोक्त बातों को ध्यान में रखते हुए, मूलतः, पवित्र आत्मा के विरुद्ध कही गई निरादर की कोई बात ही एकमात्र सच्चे परमेश्वर की निंदा मानी जा सकती है। पवित्र परमेश्वर के विरुद्ध बात करना वही पाप है जिसके कारण लूसिफर गिराया गया (यशायाह 14:12-14; यहेजकेल 28:12-15), और शैतान बन गया – सदा काल के लिए परमेश्वर और उससे संबंधित किसी बात का विरोधी। लूसिफर ने परमेश्वर की महिमा और महानता के विरुद्ध बलवा किया और बातें करीं, परमेश्वर को उसके समस्त महिमा, वैभव, महानता, अधिकार और सामर्थ्य में भली-भाँति जानने के बावजूद; जानकारी रखते हुए भी जानबूझकर किया गया यह विद्रोह लूसिफर के लिए क्षमा न होने वाला पाप बन गया, और उसे शैतान बना दिया, तथा उसे स्वर्ग से निष्कासित कर दिया गया।

           परमेश्वर की पवित्रता, वैभव, और महानता के विरुद्ध किए गए निरादर के इस पाप को यदि हमारे लिए क्षमा योग्य बना दिया जाता, तो फिर परमेश्वर के उच्च तथा निष्पक्ष न्याय की मांग होगी की लूसिफर को भी क्षमा मिलनी चाहिए – और यह परमेश्वर की पवित्रता, वैभव, महानता, और पूर्ण सार्वभौमिकता का उपहास हो जाएगा। लूसिफर का पाप न केवल अत्यंत जघन्य था, वरन क्योंकि उसके पतन के समय, किसी ने भी किसी के पाप की कोई कीमत नहीं चुकाई थी, जैसे कि मसीह यीशु ने हमारे लिए चुका दी है, इसलिए पाप के लिए कोई प्रायश्चित का समाधान उपलब्ध भी नहीं था; इसका निवारण दंड के द्वारा ही संभव था। ऐसी परिस्थिति में, मात्र क्षमा की प्रार्थना का स्वीकार किए जाने का अर्थ होता स्वर्गीय स्थानों में अनियंत्रित अव्यवस्था एवं अराजकता को निमंत्रण देना। कोई भी सृजा गया प्राणी अपनी इच्छानुसार कुछ भी कर लेता और, बस क्षमा मांग कर उसके परिणामों से बच निकालता –  और यह कदापि स्वीकार नहीं की जा सकने वाली स्थिति हो जाती। इसलिए यह अनिवार्य था कि लूसिफर से उसके द्वारा किए गए इस निरादर के पाप का हिसाब लिया जाए और उसे पाप का दण्ड भोगने का उदाहरण बना कर प्रस्तुत किया जाए। लूसिफर को उचित दण्ड दिया ही जाना था; ऐसा दण्ड जो उसके पाप के घोर और जघन्य होने के अनुपात में हो। यदि परमेश्वर के निरादर का पाप एक के लिए क्षमा होने योग्य नहीं है, तो फिर परमेश्वर के निष्पक्ष न्याय के अनुसार, यह औरों के लिए भी क्षमा नहीं किया जा सकता है। इसीलिए, पवित्र आत्मा के विरूद्ध निरादर के पाप को भी कभी क्षमा नहीं किया जा सकता है।

English Translation

Blasphemy Against the Holy Spirit –The Unforgivable Sin; Why? - 1

    There are a lot of misunderstandings and consequent misapplications about the concept of the “Unforgivable sin – Blasphemy against the Holy Spirit”. It is deplorable that many preachers and teachers exploit this concept to irrationally create a fear in the hearts of Christian Believers, so as to keep the Believers from questioning them or their ways and teachings. Thereby these people get away with many wrong doctrines, improper theology, and questionable behavior in their lives by invoking and taking shelter under alleging “blasphemy against the Holy Spirit” to frighten and silence those asking questions or seeking clarifications. To understand what such ‘blasphemy’ actually is, and why is it unforgivable only against the Holy Spirit, we need to look into some facts and concepts from the Word of God.

Firstly, why only against the Holy Spirit?

    God’s Word, the Bible presents the Lord our God as a Triune God, the Holy Trinity – God the Father, God the Son – the Lord Jesus Christ, and God the Holy Spirit. They are absolutely one and co-equal in all aspects, with no difference whatsoever of any sort amongst them – the Triune God, the Holy Trinity – God manifesting as three in one and one in three. So then, why is it that only the “blasphemy against the Holy Spirit” has been ascribed such severe consequences, whereas the same has not been stated or implied for blasphemy against either God the Father, or against God the Son – the Lord Jesus?

    To understand this we need to look at some ‘finer points’ related to the three persons in the Godhead.

God the Son – the Lord Jesus Christ, when He came down to the earth as our Savior, He left His heavenly Glory, Majesty, Form, and Stature. The Bible tells us that in this His human form He emptied Himself of His heavenly glory and was made lesser than the angels (Philippians 2:5-8; Hebrews 2:9). In this human form, He had come down to bear the sin of the world and be sacrificed for the redemption of the world. For him to accomplish this, He was destined to be despised, to be spoken against, to suffer grief and chastisement, and to face rejection and dishonor from the people of the world (Isaiah 53). He too had to experience and endure all that people of the earth have to go through; He had to live like any other human being (Hebrews 4:15; 5:7-8), and eventually suffer the ignoble death on the cross. In this context of His human form and existence, having been made lesser than the angels to suffer death, His human form was in a manner of saying ‘lesser’ than His Godly form as part of the Triune God. Therefore the offence of any blasphemy or dishonor of His human form, which He was destined to suffer anyways, would be different from and of somewhat lesser magnitude than the dishonor of God the Holy Spirit. Since the Lord Jesus was destined to suffer ignominy and rejection as part of His ministry to secure our redemption, therefore declaring things that were, or will be said against Him in a derogatory manner (i.e. against His human form), as an unforgivable sin would defeat the very purpose for which He had come, and end up sending the world into condemnation, rather than redemption. Hence dishonor of God the Son could not be declared an unforgivable sin.

    In context of God the Father, the terms ‘God’ and ‘Father’ are also quite commonly and generally used terms in all cultures and religions, and even atheists and non-religious people use them as expressions for swearing, e.g. in phrases like “good god,” “god damn it,” “god forsaken,” “swear by god” etc. Their use by a person does not necessarily mean that he is using them against ‘God the Father’ of the Holy Trinity. Similarly, the word “father” too is used worldwide in many ways, and is often also used in abusive or swearing expressions. Therefore any derogatory or vulgar usage associated with the words ‘god’ i.e.  an object of veneration of any faith or religion, and of the word ‘father’, had it not been excluded from being the ‘unforgivable sin of blasphemy’ clause, would have automatically condemned the person forever and taken away any chance of his salvation, ever. So these two terms ‘God’ and ‘Father’ too could not be associated with the ‘unforgivable sin.’

    That leaves only God the Holy Spirit, amongst the persons of the Holy Trinity. A very important consideration here is the fact that the concept of the Holy Spirit of God is unique to Judaism and Christianity; it is not found in any other religion or faith anywhere in the world.  Since the Holy Spirit was well known to even the people of the Old Testament (e.g. Genesis 1:2; Psalm 104:30; 139:7 etc.) – the Scriptures that the Pharisees, Sadducees, and the Scribes studied, therefore they could in no way claim to be ignorant of Him, and His status as part of the Triune God. So, essentially, keeping in mind the above stated concepts about God the Father and God the Son, anything blasphemous against the Holy Spirit is the only blasphemy that can actually be said to be against the one true God. To speak against the Holy God is the same sin that caused the fall of Lucifer (Isaiah 14:12-14; Ezekiel 28:12-15), and made him into Satan – forever the opponent of God and anything to do with God. Lucifer had rebelled and spoken against the glory and majesty of God, despite well knowing God in all His glory, majesty, stature, dominion and power; this knowledgeable and deliberate act of rebellion became the unforgivable sin against Lucifer, turned him into Satan, and he was thrown out of heaven.

    If this sin of blasphemy against the holiness, majesty, and stature of God were to be condoned, or made ‘forgivable’ for us, then the irreproachable and absolutely impartial justice of God would demand that Lucifer too be forgiven – thereby making a mockery of the holiness, majesty, stature, and absolute sovereignty of God. Not only was Lucifer’s sin of incalculable severity, but also since at the time of his fall, no one had paid the price for anyone’s sin, as Christ Jesus has now paid for ours, therefore there was no atoning remedy available for sin either; it had to be dealt with by being punished. In such a situation, the mere acceptance of an apology would have resulted in unbridled chaos and anarchy in the heavenly realms. Since then, any created being could have done whatever it pleased, and got away with it by simply offering an apology – an absolutely unacceptable situation. Hence Lucifer had to be made an example and be held to account for his sin of blasphemy against God. Lucifer had to be prescribed the due penalty; a penalty proportionate in severity to the magnitude and heinous nature of his sin. If blasphemy against God is ‘unforgivable’ for one sinner, then as per the nature of God’s equitable justice, it will remain unforgivable for everyone else. Hence, blasphemy against the Holy Spirit is called the unforgivable sin.

प्रश्न: उद्धार पाने तथा बपतिस्मा लेने में क्या अंतर है? क्या उद्धार पवित्र आत्मा की छाप लगना, और बपतिस्मा पवित्र आत्मा का अभिषेक होना है?

 

उत्तर:

 बपतिस्मा, परमेश्वर के वचन  पवित्र शास्त्र बाइबल के नए नियम खण्ड के लिखे जाने की मूल भाषा, यूनानी, के शब्द “बैपतिज़ो” से आया है, और इस शब्द का शब्दार्थ होता है बारंबार डुबोना, गोता देना, जलमग्न करना, अभिभूत कर देना, या पूर्णतः भिगो देना।

शब्द उद्धार यूनानी भाषा के शब्द “सोटीरिया” से आया है जिसका शब्दार्थ होता है छुटकारा, सुरक्षित किया जाना, बचाव, अर्थात किसी हानि अथवा हानिकारक बात से बचा लिया जाना।

मसीही विश्वास के सन्दर्भ में, उद्धार पाने का अर्थ है पापों के परिणाम से बचाया जाना , क्योंकि प्रभु यीशु मसीह ने उन्हें अपने ऊपर लेकर हमारे लिए उनका संपूर्ण दण्ड सह लिया – समस्त मानव जाति के लिए। क्योंकि अब पापों की कीमत चुकाई जा चुकी है, उनके दुष्परिणाम भुगत लिए गए हैं, इसलिए अब किसी को भी अपने पापों के परिणामों से बचने के लिए अपनी ओर से या अपने लिए और कुछ भी करने की आवश्यकता नहीं है। अब बस इतना ही करना शेष है कि प्रभु यीशु द्वारा किए गए कार्य पर विश्वास कर के , व्यक्ति यह स्वीकार कर ले कि वह पापी है, प्रभु यीशु से उन पापों की क्षमा माँग ले, अपना जीवन प्रभु को समर्पित कर दे, और उसे अपना निज प्रभु एवं उद्धारकर्ता स्वीकार कर ले। उसके द्वारा यह करने पर, क्योंकि वह प्रभु यीशु मसीह में विश्वास करता है, इसलिए परमेश्वर के अनुग्रह के द्वारा, वह व्यक्ति उस अनन्तकाल की मृत्यु, उस अपरिवर्तनीय हानि की दशा से छुटकारा पा लेता है, सुरक्षित कर दिया जाता है, बचा लिया जाता है, जो उसके पापों में होने के कारण उसकी नियति थी; अब वह उस स्थिति से “बचा लिया” गया है, उसने उस अपरिवर्तनीय हानि की दशा में जाने से उद्धार पा लिया है। यह उनके किसी कर्मों के द्वारा नहीं (इफिसियों 2:5, 8), वरन साधारण विश्वास में, स्वेच्छा से, सच्चे मन से की गई एक ही प्रार्थना के द्वारा, बिना किसी अन्य मनुष्य के हस्तक्षेप अथवा मध्यस्थता के द्वारा हो जाता है। उद्धार पाया हुआ व्यक्ति हमेशा के लिए परमेश्वर की संतान बन जाता है (यूहन्ना 1:12-13) और उसका यह आदर उससे कभी भी वापस नहीं लिया जाएगा।

जो इस प्रकार से बचा लिए गए हैं, जिन्होंने उद्धार प्राप्त कर लिया है, केवल उन्हीं के लिए प्रभु यीशु मसीह ने मत्ती 28:19 में कहा है कि वे बपतिस्मा लेने के द्वारा अपने उद्धार की गवाही दें। बपतिस्मा लेने से उद्धार नहीं है; वरन उद्धार पाए हुए व्यक्ति को बपतिस्मा लेना है। इस पद में प्रभु द्वारा दिए गए निर्देशों के क्रम पर ध्यान कीजिए: पहले व्यक्ति को प्रभु यीशु का शिष्य या अनुयायी बनना है और तब ही उस शिष्य को बपतिस्मा दिया जाना है।

इससे यह स्पष्ट है कि बपतिस्मा और उद्धार दो बिलकुल पृथक बातें हैं। बपतिस्मा किसी को भी उद्धार के लिए योग्य नहीं बनाता है, परन्तु प्रभु यीशु मसीह में लाए गए विश्वास के द्वारा जो उद्धार प्राप्त कर लेते हैं, उनसे यह अपेक्षा रहती है कि वे बपतिस्मे के द्वारा इस बात की गवाही देंगे।

Question: What is the difference between Baptism and Salvation? Is Salvation the sealing of the Holy Spirit and Baptism the anointing of the Holy Spirit?

 

Answer:

The word baptism, is from a Greek language word, in which the New Testament section of God’s Word the Bible was originally written, “baptizo” which literally means to dip repeatedly, to immerse, to submerge, to overwhelm or make fully wet.

 The word salvation is from the Greek word soteria, and it means deliverance, preservation, safety, i.e. to be saved from some harm or something harmful.

 In context of the Christian faith, salvation means to be saved from the consequences of sin, because of the Lord Jesus Christ having taken them upon Himself and borne them for us - the entire mankind. Since now the sins have been paid for, their consequence borne, therefore no one needs to do anything of their own to be delivered from suffering the consequences of their sins. Now, all that anyone needs to do is believe on what the Lord Jesus has done, admit being a sinner to the Lord and pray for His forgiveness for them, submit their life to Him, and accept Him as their Lord and Savior. On doing this, through the grace of God, because of the faith placed in the Lord Jesus Christ, person is delivered, or preserved, or made safe from the eternal death or irreversible harm he was destined to; i.e. he is 'saved', or has attained salvation from harm. This is not by virtue of any works of any kind done by the person (Ephesians 2:5, 8), but by a single prayer made voluntarily from a sincere heart in simple faith, without the mediation or intervention of any other person. This saved person now irrevocably becomes a child of God forever (John 1:12-13).

 Those who are saved, i.e., have attained salvation, only they have been asked by the Lord Jesus, in Matthew 28:19, to witness about their being saved through taking baptism. Salvation is not by baptism; rather, those who have been saved have been asked to get baptized. Notice the sequence of the Lord’s instructions in this verse: first a person has to become the Lord's disciple or follower, and then the disciple should be baptized.

Hence it is quite apparent that baptism and salvation are two different things. Baptism does not qualify anyone for salvation, but those who have received salvation by faith in the Lord Jesus, are expected to witness about it through taking baptism.

The moment a person is saved, he becomes the temple of the Holy Spirit, who comes to reside in him (Ephesians 1:13; 1 Corinthians 3: 16; 6:19) in His fullness – Holy Spirit is a Divine Person – He is cannot be given out in parts, and is not given out in parts (John 3:34). Nobody needs to do anything extra or special to receive the Holy Spirit, other than to believe in the Lord Jesus, accept Him as his personal Savior, and submit their lives to Him (see: http://englishsampark.blogspot.com/2020/04/receiving-holy-spirit-1-introduction.html ). Coming to faith in the Lord Jesus also brings the Holy Spirit into their lives, and this is expressed through different words, like being sealed (Ephesians 1:14) or being baptized by the Holy Spirit (Acts 11:15-17). To be 'sealed' means being given a mark of ownership - the presence of the Holy Spirit within a Christian Believer is a mark of the Believer being the possession of the Lord (1 Corinthians 6:19, 20). Similarly, being 'baptized' by the Holy Spirit means being 'fully wet' or being 'overwhelmed' or being 'dipped' - under the cover of the Holy Spirit. These are all various ways of stating the same thing, i.e., being possessed by the Holy Spirit.

     सीधा, स्पष्ट और एक वाक्य का उत्तर है कि सबत और सन्डे एक ही दिन नहीं है, और बाइबल के अनुसार मसीहियों को सन्डे के दिन आराधना करनी चाहिए।

     आज बहुत से लोग मसीही विश्वासियों को भरमा कर सन्डे के स्थान पर सबत के दिन की ओर ले जाना चाहते हैं, और अपनी बात के समर्थन में पुराने नियम से व्यवस्था के हवाले देते हैं। किन्तु वे बाइबल से यह नहीं दिखाते हैं कि मसीह यीशु ने हमारे लिए व्यवस्था को पूरा कर दिया, उसे हमारे सामने से हटा कर क्रूस पर ठोक दिया, और व्यवस्था के पालन के लिए हम भी मसीह के साथ क्रूस पर मर गए हैं (रोमियों 7:4; 10:4; कुलुस्सियों 2:13-15) – इन पदों में ध्यान कीजिए, मसीह में व्यवस्था पूरी हो गई, अर्थात, उसकी सभी आवश्यकताएँ पूरी कर दी गई हैं; और अब उसका अन्त, अर्थात परिपूर्ण होने के कारण समापन हो गया है; अब व्यवस्था टूट नहीं सकती है – उसका संपूर्ण पालन कर के, उस पुस्तक को बन्द कर के, उसके स्थान पर परमेश्वर ने मसीह यीशु में लाए गए विश्वास के द्वारा अपने अनुग्रह की धार्मिकता लागू कर दी गई है। मसीह ने व्यवस्था को क्रूस पर जड़ कर उसे हमारे सामने से हटा दिया है – अब धार्मिकता के लिए हमें उसके मार्ग पर चलने की कोई आवश्यकता ही नहीं रह गई है; मसीह में होकर हम व्यवस्था के लिए मर गए हैं – इसलिए अब न तो व्यवस्था का हम पर कुछ अधिकार रह गया है और न ही हम उसके पालन कर पाने की दशा में हैं; अब हम मसीह में विश्वास के द्वारा जीते हैं – अब हमें व्यवस्था और उसकी बातों के पालन करने की कोई आवश्यकता नहीं है; हम प्रभु यीशु मसीह में विश्वास के द्वारा धर्मी ठहरते हैं, न कि व्यवस्था के पालन के द्वारा (रोमियों 3:22-31; 10:8-11)।

English Translation

Question: What is the Sabbath; is it the same as Sunday? Should Christians worship on Sunday or on Sabbath day?

 

Answer:

     The simple, straightforward, one line answer is that Sabbath and Sunday are not the same, and Biblically, Christians ought to worship on Sunday.

     The word ‘sabbath’ means rest. Usually this alludes to the seventh day of the Jewish calendar, which is the Saturday of our current calendar, because on this day the Lord God completed His Creation work and rested (Genesis 2:2-3) and He established this seventh day as a day of rest for His people in His Ten Commandments (Exodus 20:8-11). But in the Old Testament, a sabbath day or a day of rest is not necessarily the seventh day of the Jewish week – it can be any ‘day of rest’ or of ‘cessation of work’ – see Leviticus chapter 23, where the feasts of the Lord and the methods of celebrating them are given, and see chapter 25, where the whole particular year is called the sabbath year. Similarly, in Exodus 31:13 and Leviticus 19:3 and 26:2 also the word is used in plural ‘sabbaths’ indicating more days than one were designated as ‘sabbath’ and this makes it clear that in the Old Testament the word ‘Sabbath’ was not used for just the seventh day of the Jewish week, but was for any day appointed by God for rest or not doing the routine work. The context of the word decided the meaning of the word; but generally speaking it meant the seventh day of the Jewish week, our Saturday, that, according to God’s Law and the Ten Commandments was to be a day of not doing any work, but to be spent in worshiping the Lord God – this was the demand of the Law, from them who were the people of God under the Law, whether they were the natural descendants of Abraham, or those residing with the Jews (Exodus 20:10), or those who had accepted to follow Judaism – like those people of the mixed-multitude who came out of Egypt with the Jews (Exodus 12:38), or those who became Jews later on (Esther 8:17; 9:27; Isaiah 14:1; 45:14; Zechariah 8:20-23) – they were all under the Law of God, and it was necessary for them to follow it, they were to maintain the sanctity of the Sabbath, or Saturday and observe it appropriately as commanded in the Law.

     Our Sunday is the first day the Jewish week; and is the seventh day of our current calendar. This day is of special significance for the Christians, because the Lord Jesus rose from the dead on this day (Mark 16:9, see verses 1-9). Therefore the followers of the Lord Jesus, started to gather for worshiping the Lord and participating in the Lord’s Table or Holy Communion on ‘the first day of the week’ i.e. on Sunday (Acts 20:7; 1 Corinthians 16:2) – and this God’s Holy Spirit got recorded for us (2 Timothy 3:16-17), for our instruction and observance. Nowhere in the New Testament have the Christian Believers been reprimanded for doing this, and neither have they been instructed at any place to rectify this and revert back to the ‘Sabbath’ or Saturday. In other words, worshiping God on Sunday, is from God, is accepted by God, and is appropriate to observe for the Christians. Later, this ‘first day of the week’ was also called ‘the Lord’s Day’ (Revelation 1:10) – again recorded in the Bible through the Holy Spirit. There is no instruction, reason, or compulsion to revert this back to the Jewish Sabbath day.

     Today many people are deceiving Christians into reverting to the Sabbath day in place of Sunday, and they quote from the Old Testament to support their arguments. But what they do not show from the Bible is that Christ Jesus has fulfilled the Law for us, has nailed it to the Cross and has taken it out of our way, and we too have died on the Cross with Christ for the Law (Romans 7:4; 10:4; Colossians 2:13-15) – pay attention to these verses, the Law has been fulfilled in Christ, in other words, all its requirements have been completed; and now it has come to its conclusion, i.e. by having been fulfilled it is now closed; now the Law cannot be broken – because it has been fully fulfilled, it is a closed chapter, and in its place God has made applicable the righteousness of His grace through coming to faith in the Lord Jesus. By nailing the Law to the Cross Christ has taken it out of our way – we simply don’t have to walk that path to righteousness anymore; in Christ we have died to the Law – therefore neither does the Law have any hold on us nor are we in any state to follow it; now we live by faith in Christ – now we have no reason to observe the Law and its instructions; we are made righteous by our faith in Christ, and not by observing the things of the Law (Romans 3:22-31; 10:8-11).

     In any case, right at the time of the first Church and the Apostles – the disciples of Christ, it had been thoroughly discussed and unanimously accepted and decreed for all times that no one had been able to keep the Law (Acts 15:10) and there is no need for observing the Law (Acts 15:24). Moreover, Paul, writing his letters under the guidance of the Holy Spirit has very clearly stated that no one is justified before God by observing the Law (Romans 3:20; Galatians 3:11), and anyone wanting to live by the Law is condemned to striving to fulfill all of it (Galatians 3:10), but Christ has redeemed us from coming into this condemnation (Galatians 3:13); and James wrote that anyone who breaks even one point of the Law is guilty of breaking the whole Law (James 2:10) – so why at all should we bring ourselves under such an impossible and absolutely unnecessary burden?

    Now whosoever wants to bring himself under observing the things of the Law, he is called ‘cursed’, he is not justified and made righteous by the Law, and the Law has nothing to do with Faith (Galatians 3:10-13).And these agents of Satan, under the garb of being religious and righteous (2 Corinthians 11:3, 13-15), in the name of the Lord Jesus are trying to push us back into observing the Law, are trying to make us cursed, so that we end up loosing our blessings in Christ, rendering them infructuous.

Beware of them, do not fall for their smooth talk, for the lie of the necessity of observance of Sabbath is being very energetically being preached in many ways and by all means, people are being deceived and led astray. Stay safe from such people, stay away from them.

• पहले यह माना जाता था कि वायु में कोई भार नहीं है। किन्तु अय्यूब की पुस्तक में ही परमेश्वर द्वारा वायु का तौल निर्धारित करने की बात कही गई है “जब उसने वायु का तौल ठहराया, और जल को नपुए में नापा” (अय्यूब 28:25)। जिसे विज्ञान को पहचानने में सदियाँ लग गईं, उसे परमेश्वर ने 4000 वर्ष पहले बता दिया था।

• सृष्टि के आरंभ, उत्पत्ति के समय से ही परमेश्वर ने आकाश की ज्योतियों और तारागणों को  चिह्नों, दिन और रात के समय निर्धारण, दिनों और वर्षों के निर्धारण के लिए बनाया था, “फिर परमेश्वर ने कहा, दिन को रात से अलग करने के लिये आकाश के अन्तर में ज्योतियां हों; और वे चिन्हों, और नियत समयों, और दिनों, और वर्षों के कारण हों। और वे ज्योतियां आकाश के अन्तर में पृथ्वी पर प्रकाश देने वाली भी ठहरें; और वैसा ही हो गया। तब परमेश्वर ने दो बड़ी ज्योतियां बनाईं; उन में से बड़ी ज्योति को दिन पर प्रभुता करने के लिये, और छोटी ज्योति को रात पर प्रभुता करने के लिये बनाया: और तारागण को भी बनाया” (उत्पत्ति 1:14-16)। मनुष्य ने परमेश्वर के इस उद्देश्य को हजारों वर्ष बाद पहचाना और उसका सही उपयोग किया। 

• जगत के अंत और न्याय होने के लिए परमेश्वर के सम्मुख खड़े होने के समय की भविष्यवाणी करते समय प्रभु यीशु का शिष्य पतरस, जो पहले एक अनपढ़ मछुआरा हुआ करता था, लिखता है, “परन्तु प्रभु का दिन चोर के समान आ जाएगा, उस दिन आकाश बड़ी हड़हड़ाहट के शब्द से जाता रहेगा, और तत्‍व बहुत ही तप्‍त हो कर पिघल जाएंगे, और पृथ्वी और उस पर के काम जल जाऐंगे। तो जब कि ये सब वस्तुएं, इस रीति से पिघलने वाली हैं, तो तुम्हें पवित्र चाल चलन और भक्ति में कैसे मनुष्य होना चाहिए। और परमेश्वर के उस दिन की बाट किस रीति से जोहना चाहिए और उसके जल्द आने के लिये कैसा यत्‍न करना चाहिए; जिस के कारण आकाश आग से पिघल जाएंगे, और आकाश के गण बहुत ही तप्‍त हो कर गल जाएंगे” (2 पतरस 3:10-12), जो परमाणु हथियारों के प्रयोग का सटीक वर्णन है, अंत के समय के लिए भविष्यवाणी है। आज से 2000 वर्ष पहले, जब ऐसे कोई हथियार या तरीके नहीं थे, जिनसे तत्व बहुत ही गर्म होकर पिघल जाएं, पृथ्वी और उस पर के काम जल जाएं, भयानक ध्वनि हो, आकाश की उपस्थिति दृष्टि से लुप्त हो जाए, तब इन बातों को बताना, जिन्हें आज हम परमाणु अस्त्रों के प्रयोग के परिणाम के रूप में जानते हैं, क्या किसी मानवीय बुद्धि की कल्पना से हो सकता है?

इसमें कोई संदेह नहीं है कि आज संसार परमाणु युद्ध की कगार पर खड़ा है। परमाणु अस्त्र रखने वाली शक्तियाँ एक-दूसरे पर अपना वर्चस्व स्थापित करने की होड़ में लगी हैं। संसार भर में हर स्थान, हर जाति, हर देश में तनाव है; बात-बात में एक-दूसरे पर चढ़ाई करने की या तो धमकी दी जाती है अथवा हमला कर दिया जाता है। सबसे अधिक भय अब इस बात का होने लगा है कि आतंकी संघटन और देश अब परमाणु हथियारों को अर्जित करने के प्रयास में लग गए हैं, और कर भी लेंगे। ऐसे में परमाणु विश्व-युद्ध को रोक पाना यदि असंभव नहीं तो बहुत कठिन अवश्य हो जाएगा। संसार के हालात, प्रकृति में होने वाली अप्रत्याशित, अभूतपूर्व विनाशकारी बातें, सभी 2000 वर्षे पहले प्रभु यीशु की भविष्यवाणियों (मत्ती 24 अध्याय) के अनुसार, प्रभु के दूसरे आगमन और जगत के अंत तथा सभी मनुष्यों न्याय के शीघ्र ही होने की ओर संकेत कर रही हैं। अब यह आपको विचार करना है कि क्या आप इस अवश्यंभावी परिस्थिति का सामना करने के लिए तैयार हैं कि नहीं। 

चाहे जगत का अंत आपके जीवन काल में न भी हो, तो भी जीवन समाप्त होने के पश्चात, प्रभु परमेश्वर के सामने जीवन का हिसाब देने के लिए तो खड़ा होना ही है। यदि आत्मा पर पाप के दाग लिए हुए जाएंगे, तो फिर परमेश्वर के साथ नहीं रह पाएंगे। आज ही स्वेच्छा से, प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों की क्षमा माँगकर पापों के दागों को धो लीजिए, परमेश्वर के साथ अनन्तकाल की आशीष और सुख में रहने के लिए तैयार हो जाइए। सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना, आपके जीवन को विनाश से आशीष में लाकर खड़ा कर सकती है - निर्णय आपका है। आपको बस कुछ इस प्रकार से सच्चे मन से, स्वेच्छा से, पापों के लिए पश्चाताप की मनसा के साथ प्रभु को पुकारना है, “हे प्रभु यीशु, मैं स्वीकार करता हूँ कि मैं आपकी अनाज्ञाकारिता का दोषी हूँ, पापी हूँ। मैं मानता हूँ कि आपने मेरे सभी पाप अपने ऊपर लेकर, क्रूस पर अपना बलिदान देने के द्वारा उनके सारे दण्ड को मेरे लिए सह लिया, मेरे स्थान पर आपने उनकी पूरी कीमत चुका दी। कृपया मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, अपना आज्ञाकारी शिष्य बनाएं, और अपने साथ बनाकर रखें।” समय रहते सही निर्णय कर लें, कही बाद में बहुत देर न हो जाए, मौका हाथ से निकाल न जाए।

Bible and Physical Sciences - 2 - Facts from Physics

In the previous article we saw about the water cycle, and also saw that about 2000 years ago, when the people of the world did not have any concept, understanding, or knowledge of such severe and significant deterioration of water and air qualities because of pollution, and its existence threatening effects on life in general and on mankind in particular, and did not even think about the possibility of this to ever occur, yet God had it written in His Word, the Bible, that those who ruined the earth would face God's judgment for their actions. Today we'll look at some of the Biblical things related to Physics, things that are even more complicated than the water cycle, and which confirm as fact what we had said earlier, that God's creation will testify only in favor of its creator, not against Him.

• The famous scientist Sir Isaac Newton discovered a lot of things about light and its properties, and found out some laws about it. For example, he showed, sunlight can be dispersed into seven colors and can be re-combined into the same light as before; And that light travels in a definite, set path of its own. In the account of Job, who lived about 4000 years ago, while questioning Job about creation, God asked him and had it written, "Where is the way to the dwelling of light? And darkness, where is its place?" (Job 38:19); "By what way is light diffused, Or the east wind scattered over the earth?" (Job 38:24); implying that there is a set, definite path for the light to traverse [various English translations of the Bible express this with the more precise words like, divided, parted, diffused, dispersed, etc.]. The scientific fact that a scientist like Newton took a long time and much effort to identify and prove, had already been revealed by God to an ordinary man, thousands of years ago.

• In his conversation with Job, God asks him another wonderful question, "Can you send out lightnings, that they may go, And say to you, 'Here we are!'?" (Job 38:35). The original Hebrew word here translated as "lightning" literally means "shine", or something that shines; i.e., light or its "shine" has the quality that it can be made to go from one place to another, and it can be made “to say” things, i.e., it can be converted into sound, with the help of this quality messages can be sent through it. What God said 4000 years ago, science has now recognized that light, radio waves, and sound waves are different forms of the same type of energy, of different frequencies, and messages can be sent from one place to another using this property - our TVs, radio, phone, audio and video call systems, etc., all work on this principle, which God had already expressed in simple understandable words before these things about energy forms, waves and frequencies etc. were known to mankind.

• Earlier it was believed that there is no weight in air. But it is written in the book of Job that God determined the weight of air "To establish a weight for the wind, And apportion the waters by measure" (Job 28:25). What science took centuries to recognize had already been told by God 4000 years ago.

• From the time of creation, since the beginning of the universe, God created the lights and stars of the sky to determine the time of day and night, to determine the days and years, “Then God said, "Let there be lights in the firmament of the heavens to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs and seasons, and for days and years; and let them be for lights in the firmament of the heavens to give light on the earth"; and it was so. Then God made two great lights: the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night. He made the stars also” (Genesis 1:14-16). Man could recognize this purpose of God, thousands of years later and then made good use of it.

• When prophesying the end of the world and the time to stand before God for judgment, the disciple of the Lord Jesus, Peter, formerly an illiterate fisherman, wrote, “But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will melt with fervent heat; both the earth and the works that are in it will be burned up. Therefore, since all these things will be dissolved, what manner of persons ought you to be in holy conduct and godliness, looking for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be dissolved, being on fire, and the elements will melt with fervent heat?” (2 Peter 3:10-12), which is an accurate description of the destruction caused by the use of nuclear weapons. This, in a prophecy for the end times, given 2000 years ago, when there were no weapons or methods by which the elements would become very hot and melt, the earth and the works on it would burn, there would be a terrible sound of a blast, the visibility of the sky disappearing from sight. We know these things today by our knowledge of the use of nuclear weapons, but it is humanly impossible for Peter or any other person to even imagine and then to write and tell about these things at the time this was written. It simply cannot be through the thoughts or imaginations of any human intelligence.

There is no doubt that today the world is standing on the verge of nuclear war. The powers possessing nuclear weapons are competing to establish their supremacy over each other. There is tension all over the world in every place, in every race, in every country. Countries and alliances keep trying to have an upper hand over their rivals, they either threaten each other, or indirectly terrorize their rivals, or even attack and invade. The biggest fear now is that terrorist organizations and their supporting countries are now trying to acquire nuclear weapons, and eventually will acquire them in some way. In such a situation, it will be very difficult, if not impossible, to avert a nuclear world war. The prevailing political and economic state of the world; the unpredictable, unprecedented destructive things that are happening in nature, are all according to the prophecies of the Lord Jesus given 2000 years ago (Matthew 24). All of these current events are pointing to the second coming of the Lord, the end of the world, and the judgment of all human beings, in the near future. Now it is for you to consider and decide whether you are prepared and ready to face this inevitable situation or not.

Even if the end of the world does not happen in your lifetime, still, after the end of this earthly life, everyone will have to stand before the Lord God to give the account of their life to Him. If the soul has stand before God, tainted with sin, then it will not be able to live with God. Voluntarily today, just now, ask the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, ask Him to wash away the stains of your sins, and to make you ready to live in eternal blessings and happiness with God. A single prayer from a sincere and submissive heart can lift your life from destruction to blessing - the decision is yours. All you have to do is call upon the Lord with a sincere heart, voluntarily, with a heartfelt sincere repentance of your sins; you can pray something like this, “Lord Jesus, I confess that I am guilty of disobeying you, I am a sinner. I believe and accept that you took all my sins upon yourself, bore all their punishment for me by sacrificing yourself on the Cross, and paid their full price in my place. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, make me your obedient disciple, and keep me with you." Take the right decision while you have the time and opportunity, before it is too late, and you miss the opportunity.
