निर्गमन 12:3-4 - प्रभु की मेज़ और मण्डली में एकता

        हमने पिछले लेखों में देखा है कि किस प्रकार से शैतान ने प्रभु भोज को, परमेश्वर के वचन में लिखी हुई उससे संबंधित बातों और निर्देशों को, तोड़-मरोड़ के बताने और उनका दुरुपयोग करने के द्वारा, बिगाड़ करके भ्रष्ट कर दिया है, उसे एक व्यर्थ और अर्थहीन परंपरा में परिवर्तित कर दिया है। शैतान ऐसा मुख्यतः दो बातों के कारण करने पाया है। पहली यह कि अधिकांश ईसाइयों या मसीहियों को स्वयं परमेश्वर का वचन पढ़ने और सीखने की कोई परवाह नहीं है; जो भी परमेश्वर के नाम में पुल्पिट से उन्हें बता दिया जाता है, वे उसी से संतुष्ट रहते हैं और उसे ही स्वीकार कर लेते हैं, उसे ही वास्तविकता और सत्य समझ लेते हैं; कभी उन बातों की जांच और पुष्टि परमेश्वर के वचन बाइबल से नहीं करते हैं। और दूसरी यह कि अधिकांश ईसाइयों या मसीहियों को बाइबल की बातों और निर्देशों के स्थान पर केवल अपने मत, समुदाय, डिनॉमिनेशन की परंपराओं एवं शिक्षाओं का पालन करने में रुचि रहती है। उनकी प्राथमिकता परमेश्वर को प्रसन्न करना और उसके वचन की आज्ञाकारिता नहीं, वरन अपने धार्मिक अगुवों की बातों को मानने, और उन्हें प्रसन्न रखने की रहती है। इसीलिए, यद्यपि संपूर्ण मसीही समाज के विभिन्न मत और समुदायों में प्रभु भोज में भाग लेने की विधि में विविधताएं हैं, लेकिन फिर भी परंपरा के रूप में उसमें भाग लेते रहने के द्वारा, ईसाई या मसीही लोग इसी गलतफहमी का निर्वाह करते रहते हैं कि ऐसा करने से वे परमेश्वर को स्वीकार्य और स्वर्ग में प्रवेश पाने के लिये योग्य हो गए हैं - जो कि बाइबल के अनुसार कदापि सत्य नहीं है; शैतान और उसके दूतों द्वारा फैलाया गया भ्रम है।

        हमने पिछले लेखों में फसह तथा प्रभु भोज से संबंधित कुछ प्रतीकों को भी देखा था, और यह भी देखा था कि आम धारणा के विपरीत, कि प्रभु भोज का आरंभ नए नियम में प्रभु यीशु द्वारा किया गया, इसमें भाग लेने के प्ररूप पुराने नियम में फसह के भोज में भी पाए जाते हैं, और प्रभु यीशु ने इसी फसह के भोज को मनाते हुए इस ‘प्रभु भोज’ की स्थापना की थी। हमने पिछले लेख में इसी प्रथम प्ररूप, निर्गमन 12 की बातों के तात्पर्यों और प्रभु की मेज़ में भाग लेने के लिये उससे मिलने वाली शिक्षाओं को भी देखना आरंभ किया था। हमने इस अध्याय के पद 1 और 2 से देखा था कि जिस प्रकार से फसह का भोज केवल परमेश्वर के चुने हुए लोगों, इस्राएल ही के लिये था, जिनके लिये यह एक नई शुरुआत को भी दिखाता था; उसी प्रकार से प्रभु की मेज़ या प्रभु भोज भी केवल उनके लिये ही है जो “एक नई सृष्टि” हो गए हैं, किसी मत या समुदाय की रीतियों, परंपराओं, अनुष्ठानों के पालन के द्वारा नहीं, अपितु अपने पापों के लिये पश्चाताप करने और प्रभु यीशु को अपना व्यक्तिगत उद्धारकर्ता स्वीकार करने तथा प्रभु को अपना जीवन समर्पित कर देने के द्वारा; अर्थात वे नया जन्म पाए हुए मसीही विश्वासी बन गए हैं।

        आज से हम फसह के लिये बलि किये जाने वाले मेमने के बारे में देखना आरंभ करेंगे, और देखेंगे कि उस बलि के मेमने के गुण किस प्रकार से प्रभु यीशु के साथ, जो "...परमेश्वर का मेम्ना है, जो जगत के पाप उठा ले जाता है” (यूहन्ना 1:29), और जो कि जगत की उत्पत्ति के समय से बलिदान हुआ है (प्रकाशितवाक्य 13:8), मेल रखते हैं।

        निर्गमन 12:3-4 - पद 3 के आरंभिक वाक्य से हम देखते हैं कि यहाँ फिर से दोहराया गया है कि फसह से संबंधित परमेश्वर के निर्देश सभी के लिये नहीं किन्तु “इस्राएल की सारी मण्डली से इस प्रकार कहो”, अर्थात फसह परमेश्वर के चुने हुए लोगों के लिये था, जैसा कि हम पिछले लेख में भी देख चुके हैं। पद 4 में हम देखते हैं कि एक घराने के लिये एक ही मेमना बलिदान किया जाना था; और यदि घराना छोटा हो तो पड़ौस के घराने के साथ मिलकर एक घराने के समान उस एक मेमने का उपयोग किया जाना था। दूसरे शब्दों में, बलिदान का एक मेमना एक घराने के लिये पर्याप्त था, बल्कि आवश्यकता से भी अधिक था, क्योंकि आगे चलकर पद 10 में लिखा है कि भोज खा लेने के बाद मेमने का जो भाग बच जाए उसे आग में जला दिया जाए। हम इफिसियों 2:19-22 से देखते हैं कि नया जन्म पाए हुए मसीही विश्वासी, वे चाहे यहूदियों में से थे या अन्य-जातियों में से, वे सभी मसीह यीशु में विश्वास के द्वारा एक घराना, प्रभु की एक देह बना दिए गए हैं; और साथ मिलकर अब ‘परमेश्वर का घराना’ (पद 19), ‘परमेश्वर का निवास-स्थान’ (पद 22) बनाए गए हैं। देश के आकार और जनसंख्या के आधार पर यदि देखें तो यहूदी या इस्राएली, अपने सभी, सामूहिक अन्य-जाति पड़ौसियों की तुलना में, एक छोटा राष्ट्र थे और हैं। किन्तु अब मसीह में लाए गए विश्वास के द्वारा एक-दूसरे के पड़ौस में रहने वाले ये एक छोटे और बड़े घराने के लोग मसीह में एक घराना कर दिये गए हैं जिससे कि वे एक फसह के भोज में, एक प्रभु भोज में भाग ले सकें। यहाँ पर, तथा इफिसियों के इस खण्ड में प्रयुक्त एक वचन शब्दों पर ध्यान कीजिए - ‘घराना’ (पद 19), और ‘निवास-स्थान’ (पद 22)। यहूदी और अन्य-जाति विश्वासियों के एक किये जाने की प्रक्रिया को इससे पहले के पदों में, इफिसियों 2:11-18 में समझाया गया है। इस एकता की इच्छा की गई है और आशा रखी गई है (इफिसियों 4:13), और अन्ततः एक ही “कलीसिया” होगी जिसे मसीह की देह (इफिसियों 5:23), और मसीह की दुलहन (इफिसियों 5:25-26) कहा गया है - पुनः एक वचन का प्रयोग किया गया है।

        फसह के भोज के लिये परमेश्वर द्वारा एक घराने के लिये एक ही मेमना ठहराया गया था - चाहे वह संयुक्त घराना ही क्यों न हो। पापों के दासत्व के छुटकारे के लिये भी “एक संयुक्त घराने” के लिये परमेश्वर की ओर से एक ही बलि का मेमना - प्रभु यीशु मसीह ठहराया गया है, जो आवश्यकता से भी अधिक है। प्रभु यीशु के अतिरिक्त और कोई भी व्यक्ति, वस्तु, या विधि शैतान के चंगुल से छुड़ाने के लिए उपयुक्त अथवा आवश्यक नहीं है, और न ही किसी की इच्छा की जानी चाहिए, और न ही कोई या कुछ और यह छुटकारा देने पाएगा (1 थिस्सलुनीकियों 1:6-10)।

        फसह परमेश्वर के लोगों को प्रोत्साहित करता था कि वे दासत्व से छुटकारे के लिये केवल परमेश्वर के प्रावधान एवं विधि पर भरोसा रखें, चाहे परमेश्वर द्वारा निर्धारित की गई बात उन्हें समझ में आए या न आए। परमेश्वर द्वारा दी गई यह विधि दासत्व से बचाए जाने और छुटकारा पाने के लिये एक साथ एक घराने के समान जुड़कर परमेश्वर के इंतज़ाम में सम्मिलित होने के लिये भी प्रोत्साहित करती थी। इसी प्रकार से, प्रभु की मेज़ या प्रभु भोज भी उन्हीं के लिये है जो अन्य किसी पर भरोसा नहीं करते हैं, केवल प्रभु यीशु, कलवरी के क्रूस पर दिए गए उन के बलिदान, उन की मृत्यु और पुनरुत्थान पर, पापों तथा उनके दुष्परिणामों से छुड़ाए जाने के लिए विश्वास रखते हैं, चाहे परमेश्वर द्वारा दिया गया यह इंतज़ाम उनकी समझ में आए या न आए। किन्तु वे लोग जो प्रभु के साथ भी निभाना चाहते हैं और संसार तथा सांसारिकता को भी प्रसन्न रखना चाहते हैं, उन्हें प्रभु की मेज़ से कोई लाभ नहीं होगा, परन्तु वे ऐसा करने के द्वारा परमेश्वर को रिस दिलाते हैं (1 कुरिन्थियों 10:21-22)। इस प्रकार से हम सीखते हैं कि प्रभु भोज यानि कि प्रभु की मेज़ केवल प्रभु के लोगों के लिये है, जो साथ मिलकर एकता में परमेश्वर की एक ही कलीसिया, उसका घराना, उसका निवास-स्थान होकर रहने और एकता को बढ़ावा देने की प्रवृत्ति और लालसा रखते हैं। जो लोग कलीसिया में विभाजन और गुट-बाज़ी करते हैं, उसे बढ़ावा देते हैं, मसीही विश्वासियों में विभाजन और गुटों को बनाए रखते हैं, प्रभु की मेज़ के संदर्भ में पवित्र आत्मा ने पौलुस के द्वारा उनकी तीव्र भर्त्सना की है (1 कुरिन्थियों 11:17-22), एक प्रकार से उनके प्रभु भोज में भाग लेने को व्यर्थ और निष्फल कहा है।

       अगले लेख में हम निर्गमन में से यहीं से आगे देखेंगे। यदि आप एक मसीही विश्वासी हैं, और प्रभु की मेज़ में भाग लेते रहे हैं, तो कृपया अपने जीवन को जाँच कर देख लें कि आप वास्तव में पापों से छुड़ाए गए हैं तथा प्रभु में एक नई सृष्टि बन गए हैं, तथा आप कलीसिया में विभाजनों और गुटों में बांटने में नहीं किन्तु एकता के साथ रहने में प्रयासरत रहते हैं। आपके लिए यह अनिवार्य है कि आप परमेश्वर के वचन की सही शिक्षाओं को जानने के द्वारा एक परिपक्व विश्वासी बनें, तथा निरंतर परिपक्वता में बढ़ते जाएं। साथ ही सभी शिक्षाओं को वचन की कसौटी पर परखने, और बेरिया के विश्वासियों के समान, लोगों की बातों को पहले वचन से जाँचने और उनकी सत्यता को निश्चित करने के बाद ही उनको स्वीकार करने और मानने वाले बनें (प्रेरितों 17:11; 1 थिस्सलुनीकियों 5:21)। अन्यथा शैतान द्वारा छोड़े हुए झूठे प्रेरित और भविष्यद्वक्ता मसीह के सेवक बन कर (2 कुरिन्थियों 11:13-15) अपनी ठग विद्या और चतुराई से आपको प्रभु के लिए अप्रभावी कर देंगे और आप के मसीही जीवन एवं आशीषों का नाश कर देंगे।

       यदि आपने अभी तक प्रभु की शिष्यता को स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी उसके पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। यदि आपने अभी तक नया जन्म, उद्धार नहीं पाया है, प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा नहीं माँगी है, तो अभी आपके पास समय और अवसर है कि यह कर लें। प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” परमेश्वर आपके साथ संगति रखने की बहुत लालसा रखता है तथा आपको आशीषित देखना चाहता है, लेकिन इसे सम्भव करना आपका व्यक्तिगत निर्णय है। सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी। क्या आप अभी समय और अवसर होते हुए, इस प्रार्थना को नहीं करेंगे? निर्णय आपका है।

Exodus 12:3-4 - Lord’s Table & Unity in the Church

        We have seen in the previous articles how Satan has corrupted the Holy Communion by manipulating and misusing the things and instructions written about it in the Word of God, and turned it into a vain, meaningless ritual. Satan has been allowed to get away with all his devious tricks, due to two main reasons; firstly, because the majority of “Christians” do not bother to study and learn God’s Word for themselves, they are content with receiving and accepting as truth whatever is dished out to them from the pulpit in the name of God, never bothering to cross-check and verify the teachings from the Bible before accepting them; and, secondly because the majority of “Christians” want to follow the rituals and practices of their sect, group, and denomination, instead of what is written in the Bible. They are more concerned about obeying their religious leaders, than about obeying God and His Word. Therefore, although there is a lot of variation in the method of observance of the Holy Communion across various sects and denominations in Christendom; yet all those participating in the Lord’s Table ritualistically, believe, though erroneously, that by partaking of the Communion, they become acceptable to God and qualified to enter heaven - a very unBiblical idea brought upon them by Satan and his agents.

        We had also understood some symbolisms related to the Passover and the Holy Communion, and saw that contrary to the popular belief that the Holy Communion was started in the New Testament by the Lord Jesus, antecedents of the Communion are present in the Old Testament, as the Passover meal, from which it was derived by the Lord Jesus. In the last article we had started to consider from the first antecedent, Exodus 12, the implications of and applications related to participating in the Lord’s Table. We had seen from verse 1 and 2 of this chapter that just as the Passover meal was meant only for God’s chosen people Israel, for whom it denoted a new beginning, the Holy Communion, or, the Lord’s Table is meant only for those who have ‘become a new creation’ in the Lord, not by virtue of fulfilling any denominational rituals and ceremonies, but by repenting of their sins and accepting the Lord Jesus as their personal savior, have submitted themselves to the Lord; i.e., are Born-Again Christian Believers.

        Today we will start considering about the sacrificial lamb of the Passover, and see how the characteristics of this sacrificial lamb corelate with the Lord Jesus, who is “...The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!” (John 1:29), and was slain from the foundation of the world (Revelation 13:8).

         Exodus 12:3-4 - From the opening sentence of verse 3 we see it reiterated that God’s instruction related to the Passover, were meant not for everyone but “for the congregation of Israel”, i.e., the Passover was meant only for God’s chosen people as we have also seen in the previous article. From verse 4 we see that one lamb was to be sacrificed for one household; and if the household was small, they were to join with their neighbors and partake of that one lamb as one household. In other words, one sacrificial lamb was sufficient for one household, rather more than sufficient, since subsequently verse 10 talks of burning in fire any part of the lamb that remained after the meal. We see from Ephesians 2:19-22 that the Born-Again Christian Believers, from the Jews or the Gentiles have been joined together into one household or one body by faith in Lord Jesus, and together have been made the ‘household of God’ (v. 19), to be a ‘dwelling place of God’ (v.22). Going by the size of the nation and their population size, the Jews, or Israel, has been a small nation compared to their neighbors the Gentiles all around, who collectively were a much larger group than the Israelites, i.e., the small and large neighboring families, have been joined together by faith in the Lord into one household, to partake of one Passover meal - the Lord’s Table. Notice the use of singular words, ‘household’ in v.19 and ‘dwelling place’ in v.22 in this passage from Ephesians. This unification of Jews and Gentiles into one body, one household has been explained in the preceding verses - Ephesians 2:11-18. It is desired and looked forward to (Ephesians 4:13), and eventually there will be one “Church” which has been called the Body of Christ (Ephesians 5:23), and the Bride of Christ (Ephesians 5:25-26) - singular terms again.

        For the Passover, one lamb for one household - even if it were to be a combined household had been ordained by God. For the deliverance from the bondage of sin of the spiritual household of the Lord, the “one combined household” of God, the one sacrificial Lamb of God - the Lord Jesus is more than sufficient. No one other than the Lord Jesus, nothing besides the Lord Jesus is to be desired or attempted to be used, for being set free from the clutches of Satan; nor will anyone or anything else ever serve the purpose (1 Thessalonians 1:6-10).

        The Passover encouraged the people of God to trust solely in God’s provision and prescribed method for their deliverance from bondage, whether or not they understood what God had ordained. God’s method, also encouraged coming together as one household to partake of God’s provision and be saved and delivered from bondage. Similarly, the Lord’s Table, or the Holy Communion is meant for those who trust in no one else, nothing else, but the Lord Jesus and His sacrifice on the Cross of Calvary, His death and resurrection, for being delivered from their sins and its consequences, whether or not one understands God’s doing so. But those who try to live with the Lord, and also appease the world and the systems of the world, do not gain any benefit from the Lord’s Table, instead they provoke the Lord to jealousy (1 Corinthians 10:21-22). So, we learn that the Lord’s Table is meant only for the Lord’s people, who are to live in unity, and work for unity as the one Church of God, His household, His dwelling place. Those who create divisions in the Church or promote and maintain segregation and factionalism amongst the Christian Believers have been severely reprimanded by the Holy Spirit through Paul in context of participating in the Lord’s Table (1 Corinthians 11:17-22), in a way calling their participation vain and inconsequential.

        In the next article we will carry on from here and see the subsequent verses from Exodus in the coming articles. If you are a Christian Believer, and have been participating in the Lord’s Table, then please examine your life and make sure that you are actually redeemed from your sins, are a new creation for the Lord, and strive for unity, not divisions and factionalism in the Church. It is also necessary for you to be spiritually mature, learn the right teachings of God’s Word. You should also always, like the Berean Believers first check and test all teachings you receive from the Word of God, and only after ascertaining the truth and veracity of the teachings brought to you by men, should you accept and obey them (Acts 17:11; 1 Thessalonians 5:21). If you do not do this, the false apostles and prophets sent by Satan as ministers of Christ (2 Corinthians 11:13-15), will by their trickery, cunningness, and craftiness render you ineffective for the Lord and cause severe damage to your Christian life and your rewards.

        If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord Jesus, then take a decision in its favor now to secure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. The Lord's security and blessings are present where there is obedience of the Lord, where His Word is honored and followed. If you are still not Born Again, have not obtained salvation, or have not asked the Lord Jesus for forgiveness for your sins, then you have the time and opportunity to do so right now. Ask the Lord Jesus to forgive your sins, and voluntarily and sincerely surrender yourselves into His hands - this is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. All you have to do is say a short prayer, voluntarily and with a sincere heart, with heartfelt repentance for your sins, and a fully submissive attitude. You can do this in this manner, “Lord Jesus, I confess that I have disobeyed You, and have knowingly or unknowingly, in mind, in thought, in attitude, and in deeds, committed sins. I believe that you have fully borne the punishment of my sins by your sacrifice on the cross, and have paid the full price of those sins for all eternity. Please forgive my sins, change my heart and mind towards you, and make me your disciple, take me with you." God longs for your company and wants to see you blessed, but to make this possible, is your personal decision. One prayer said with a sincere and surrendered heart will turn your present and future, your life here on earth and in the next world, forever and make you heavenly and blessed. Will you not say this prayer now, while you have the time and opportunity to do so? The decision is yours.

        इस विषय के पिछले लेखों में हमने देखा था कि यद्यपि ईसाई समाज प्रभु भोज में बड़ी श्रद्धा के साथ भाग लेता है, किन्तु शैतान ने उसके वास्तविक स्वरूप और उद्देश्य को भ्रष्ट कर दिया है, तथा इसे एक व्यर्थ, निरर्थक परंपरा बना दिया है। अधिकांश लोग, क्योंकि वे परमेश्वर के वचन का अध्ययन नहीं करते हैं तथा परमेश्वर के नाम में उन्हें दी जाने वाली शिक्षाओं की जाँच-पड़ताल तथा पुष्टि करने की परवाह नहीं करते हैं, इसलिए वे प्रभु भोज, अर्थात प्रभु की मेज़ में, बाइबल में दिये गए स्वरूप के अनुसार भाग नहीं लेते हैं। वे इस गलतफहमी में बने रहते हैं कि प्रभु की मेज़ के चाहे कैसे भी स्वरूप में भाग ले लेने से, उन्हें एक विशेष ओहदा मिल जाता है, जो उन्हें परमेश्वर को स्वीकार्य और स्वर्ग में प्रवेश पाने के योग्य बना देता है। पिछले लेख में हमने प्रभु की मेज़ से संबंधित कुछ प्रतीकों के बारे में भी देखा था और सुसमाचारों के वृतांतों के आधार पर यह भी देखा था कि ऐसी कोई भी वस्तु जिसमें खमीर हो फसह के पर्व के भोज में, जिससे प्रभु यीशु ने प्रभु भोज की स्थापना की थी, प्रयोग नहीं की जाती थी; और वह कटोरा जिसका प्रतीक के रूप में प्रभु ने प्रयोग किया था उसमें बिना खमीर का प्रयोग किया हुआ दाख-रस था, न कि सामान्यतः जैसा माना जाता है, “wine” था, जो कि दाख रस पर खमीर के काम करने से बनता है। इसके बाद हमने निर्गमन 12 को लिया था, जो पुराने नियम में प्रभु की मेज़ का प्रथम प्ररूप है, जहाँ पर परमेश्वर ने अपनी प्रजा, इस्राएलियों के लिये फसह के पर्व के भोज को स्थापित किया था; और हमने इस बात के साथ समाप्त किया था कि हम अपनी चर्चा के लिये इस अध्याय को तीन खण्डों में बाँट कर, जिनकी रूप-रेखा पिछले लेख में दी गई है, देखेंगे।

        आज से हम अपने पहले खण्ड निर्गमन 12:1-4 से बलि के मेमने और फसह के भोज के बारे में देखना आरंभ करेंगे और उसे नए नियम की बातों के साथ मिलाकर निष्कर्ष निकालेंगे। परमेश्वर के लोग, इस्राएली, 430 वर्ष तक मिस्र की गुलामी में रहे (निर्गमन 12:40), और उनसे सताव झेलते रहे। अब उनके बंधुआई से मुक्त किये जाने और सताव से छुटकारा मिलने का दिन आ गया था; अब उनके स्वतंत्र हो जाने का समय था। जैसा कि हमने प्रतीकों से संबंधित पिछले लेख में देखा है, परमेश्वर के लोगों की मिस्र की बंधुआई, उसके लोगों की पाप और शैतान की बंधुआई का प्रतीक है; उन लोगों की, जिन्हें परमेश्वर ने जगत की उत्पत्ति से भी पहले से चुन रखा है (इफिसियों 1:4; 2 थिस्सलुनीकियों 2:13; 2 तिमुथियुस 1:9; 1 पतरस 1:2. नोट: परमेश्वर द्वारा पहले से चुना जाना एक पूर्णतः भिन्न विषय है और हम इस चर्चा में इस विषय पर नहीं आएंगे। अभी के लिये बस इतना काफी है कि इसका यह अर्थ नहीं है कि परमेश्वर ने संसार के कुछ लोगों को पहले से स्वर्ग के लिये चुन लिया, और शेष को नरक के लिये नियुक्त कर के छोड़ दिया। ऐसी सभी धारणाएं वचन की अधूरी समझ तथा सभी तथ्यों का उचित प्रयोग नहीं करने के कारण हैं।) लेकिन ये पहले से चुने हुए लोग भी, अन्य मनुष्यों के समान ही, पाप की प्रवृत्ति के साथ जन्म लेते हैं, पाप करते हैं, और उन्हें भी पाप और शैतान के दासत्व से छुड़ाए जाने की आवश्यकता है; उनके अपने कर्मों के द्वारा नहीं वरन अन्य सभी के समान, परमेश्वर के अनुग्रह से और प्रभु यीशु द्वारा कलवरी के क्रूस पर किया गए कार्य के द्वारा (इफिसियों 2:1-8) ही संभव है।

        निर्गमन 12:1-2 - इन पदों में परमेश्वर मूसा और हारून के द्वारा इस्राएलियों को सम्बोधित करता है, उसके द्वारा उनके लिये निर्धारित किए गए छुटकारे के दिन के बारे में उन्हें बताता है, और कहता है कि यह दिन पृथ्वी पर उनके नए जीवन के आरंभ का दिन है। इस दिन को मूसा अथवा हारून ने निर्धारित नहीं किया था, वरन परमेश्वर ने किया, और उसी ने यह भी तय किया कि यह दिन उनकी नई शुरुआत का दिन होगा, उनके नये जीवन का, और उनके नए सालाना कैलेंडर का आरम्भ होगा। परमेश्वर ने इन छुड़ाए और पुनः नए किये गए लोगों के लिये फसह के भोज को स्थापित किया था और इसमें भाग लेने का विशेषाधिकार दिया था। वे स्वयँ इस आदर को अपने ऊपर नहीं ले सकते थे, यह आदर उन्हें परमेश्वर की ओर से दिया गया था। उन इस्राएलियों के साथ एक बहुत बड़ी मिली-जुली भीड़ भी मिस्रियों के दासत्व से निकलकर आ गई थी (निर्गमन 12:38), लेकिन उस भीड़ को इस फसह के भोज का आदर नहीं दिया गया था। पवित्र आत्मा की अगुवाई में प्रेरित पौलुस ने लिखा है कि उद्धार पाया हुआ व्यक्ति एक बिल्कुल नई सृष्टि है; उसके लिये यह एक पूर्णतः नई शुरुआत है। उसके जीवन की सभी पुरानी बातें अब जाती रहीं हैं, उसके लिये परमेश्वर ने सभी कुछ नया कर दिया है। अब से उसे परमेश्वर का जन बनकर, परमेश्वर के लिये जीवन जीना है (2 कुरिन्थियों 5:15, 17), और बुराई तथा दुष्टता के पुराने खमीर को त्याग कर, एक अखमीरी रोटी के समान प्रभु के लिये उपयोगी होना है (1 कुरिन्थियों 5:8)। नए नियम में, पृथ्वी की अपनी सेवकाई के अन्तिम समय में आकर प्रभु यीशु ने अपने शिष्यों के लिये फसह के भोज में से ही प्रभु भोज या, प्रभु की मेज़ की स्थापना की। पुराने और नए नियम की इन बातों को साथ मिलाकर देखने और उनसे निष्कर्ष निकालने से यह प्रकट है कि प्रभु भोज में भाग लेना हर किसी के लिये नहीं है; यह केवल उन्हीं के लिये है जो प्रभु परमेश्वर के अनुग्रह से वास्तव में अपने पापों से छुड़ाए गए हैं, जिन्होंने अपने पुराने मनुष्यत्व को उतार फेंका है, जिनके नए जीवन का आरंभ हो गया है तथा जिनका जीवन पूर्णतः परिवर्तित हो गया है, और जो अब परमेश्वर को समर्पित, और उसकी आज्ञाकारिता का जीवन जी रहे हैं।

        अगले लेख में हम निर्गमन में से यहीं से आगे देखेंगे। यदि आप एक मसीही विश्वासी हैं, और प्रभु की मेज़ में भाग लेते रहे हैं, तो कृपया अपने जीवन को जाँच कर देख लें कि आप वास्तव में पापों से छुड़ाए गए हैं तथा प्रभु में एक नई सृष्टि बन गए हैं। आपके लिए यह अनिवार्य है कि आप परमेश्वर के वचन की सही शिक्षाओं को जानने के द्वारा एक परिपक्व विश्वासी बनें, तथा निरंतर परिपक्वता में बढ़ते जाएं। साथ ही सभी शिक्षाओं को वचन की कसौटी पर परखने, और बेरिया के विश्वासियों के समान, लोगों की बातों को पहले वचन से जाँचने और उनकी सत्यता को निश्चित करने के बाद ही उनको स्वीकार करने और मानने वाले बनें (प्रेरितों 17:11; 1 थिस्सलुनीकियों 5:21)। अन्यथा शैतान द्वारा छोड़े हुए झूठे प्रेरित और भविष्यद्वक्ता मसीह के सेवक बन कर (2 कुरिन्थियों 11:13-15) अपनी ठग विद्या और चतुराई से आपको प्रभु के लिए अप्रभावी कर देंगे और आप के मसीही जीवन एवं आशीषों का नाश कर देंगे।

        यदि आपने अभी तक प्रभु की शिष्यता को स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी उसके पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। यदि आपने अभी तक नया जन्म, उद्धार नहीं पाया है, प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा नहीं माँगी है, तो अभी आपके पास समय और अवसर है कि यह कर लें। प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” परमेश्वर आपके साथ संगति रखने की बहुत लालसा रखता है तथा आपको आशीषित देखना चाहता है, लेकिन इसे सम्भव करना आपका व्यक्तिगत निर्णय है। सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी। क्या आप अभी समय और अवसर होते हुए, इस प्रार्थना को नहीं करेंगे? निर्णय आपका है।

English Translation

Exodus 12:1-2 - Lord’s Table & A New Life

        In the preceding articles on this topic, we have seen that although the Holy Communion is observed very reverentially in Christendom, but its actual form and purpose has been corrupted by Satan, and he has turned it into a vain, meaningless ritual. Most people, because they do not care to study God’s Word themselves and do not bother to cross-check and verify the teachings given to them in God’s name, are caught up in observing the Holy Communion, i.e., participating in the Lord’s Table in a manner not according to the Bible. They erroneously believe that their partaking of the Lord’s table in whatever manner bestows upon them a special status that makes them acceptable to God and worthy of entry into heaven. In the previous article we considered some symbolisms related to the Lord’s Table, and saw from the Gospel accounts in God’s Word that nothing with any leaven was part of the Passover meal, from which the Lord Jesus instituted the Holy Communion; and the cup that the Lord Jesus used as a symbol of His blood shed sacrificially, contained the unfermented grape-juice, and not it’s fermented product “wine”, as is commonly believed. We then turned to Exodus 12, the first Old Testament antecedent of the Lord’s Table, where the Passover meal was first prescribed by God for His people, the Israelites, and we concluded by saying that we will be looking at this chapter in three sections, outlined in the last article.

        Today we will start looking from our first section of Exodus 12:1-14, about the sacrificial lamb and the Passover meal, and corelate it with the New Testament to draw conclusions. The people of God, the Israelites had been under bondage to the Egyptians for 430 years (Exodus 12:40), suffering oppression from them. Now the day for their final deliverance from the oppression and bondage had come; it was time for them to be set free. As we have seen in the previous article on symbolisms, this bondage in Egypt of God’s people denotes their bondage to sin and Satan - chosen beforehand by God before the foundation of the world (Ephesians 1:4; 2 Thessalonians 2:13; 2 Timothy 1:9; 1 Peter 1:2. NOTE: Election and being Chosen beforehand by God is a separate topic altogether, and we will not be considering it here. For now, suffice it to say that this does not mean that God has chosen some for heaven beforehand, and condemned the rest to eternal hell. Any such notions are because of a selective use and incomplete understanding of the Scriptures). But even these chosen ones are born in the world with a sin nature, commit sin, and they too have to be redeemed or delivered, i.e., to be saved from their sins, not by any works that they do, but like everyone else, by the grace of God through the sacrifice of the Lord Jesus on the Cross of Calvary (Ephesians 2:1-8).

        Exodus 12:1-2 - In these verses, God speaks through Moses and Aaron to the Israelites, tells them about His ordained day of their deliverance from the bondage as a new beginning for their lifetime on earth. That day was not decided upon and set by Moses or Aaron, but God and it was God who decreed for that day to be the start of their new life and new annual calendar. It is to these released and renewed people of God that the privilege of participating in the Passover meal was given by God. They could not take this privilege upon themselves; God bestowed it upon them. A great mixed multitude also attached themselves to the Israelites, and came out of Egyptian bondage with the Israelites (Exodus 12:38), but they were not given this privilege and honor of partaking of the Passover meal. The Apostle Paul, under the guidance of the Holy Spirit writes that the saved person is an altogether new creation; it is a new beginning for him. All the previous things in his life have passed away, everything has been made new for him by God. From then on, they are to live as people of the Lord God, for the Lord (2 Corinthians 5:15, 17), be of service for the Lord as an unleavened bread, having cast away the old leaven of malice and wickedness (1 Corinthians 5:8). In the New Testament, at the terminal part of His earthly ministry, from this Passover meal, the Lord Jesus instituted the Holy Communion, for His disciples. Corelating the OT and NT sections, it is now evident that the Holy Communion is not a ritual for everyone; but is for those who actually have been redeemed from their sins by the grace of God, have cast away their old self, have had a new beginning in their lives, have turned an altogether new leaf, and are living a life submitted and obedient to God.

        We will carry on from here and see the other verses from Exodus in the coming articles. If you are a Christian Believer, and have been participating in the Lord’s Table, then please examine your life and make sure that you are actually redeemed from your sins and are a new creation for the Lord. It is also necessary for you to be spiritually mature, learn the right teachings of God’s Word. You should also always, like the Berean Believers first check and test all teachings you receive from the Word of God, and only after ascertaining the truth and veracity of the teachings brought to you by men, should you accept and obey them (Acts 17:11; 1 Thessalonians 5:21). If you do not do this, the false apostles and prophets sent by Satan as ministers of Christ (2 Corinthians 11:13-15), will by their trickery, cunningness, and craftiness render you ineffective for the Lord and cause severe damage to your Christian life and your rewards.

        If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord Jesus, then take a decision in its favor now to secure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. The Lord's security and blessings are present where there is obedience of the Lord, where His Word is honored and followed. If you are still not Born Again, have not obtained salvation, or have not asked the Lord Jesus for forgiveness for your sins, then you have the time and opportunity to do so right now. Ask the Lord Jesus to forgive your sins, and voluntarily and sincerely surrender yourselves into His hands - this is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. All you have to do is say a short prayer, voluntarily and with a sincere heart, with heartfelt repentance for your sins, and a fully submissive attitude. You can do this in this manner, “Lord Jesus, I confess that I have disobeyed You, and have knowingly or unknowingly, in mind, in thought, in attitude, and in deeds, committed sins. I believe that you have fully borne the punishment of my sins by your sacrifice on the cross, and have paid the full price of those sins for all eternity. Please forgive my sins, change my heart and mind towards you, and make me your disciple, take me with you." God longs for your company and wants to see you blessed, but to make this possible, is your personal decision. One prayer said with a sincere and surrendered heart will turn your present and future, your life here on earth and in the next world, forever and make you heavenly and blessed. Will you not say this prayer now, while you have the time and opportunity to do so? The decision is yours.

        प्रभु यीशु ने संबंधित वचन की बातों और भविष्यवाणियों को पूरा करते हुए, इस मेज़ को न केवल इस्राएलियों के लिये, वरन् अपने सारे शिष्यों के लिये, चाहे वे यहूदी हों अथवा गैर-यहूदी, स्थापित किया था, और उन्हें निर्देश दिया कि “मेरे स्मरण के लिये यही किया करो” (लूका 22:19); अर्थात, उन्हें प्रभु के दूसरे आगमन तक निरंतर करते रहना है, जैसा पवित्र आत्मा ने प्रेरित पौलुस के द्वारा लिखवाया है (1 कुरिन्थियों 11:25-26)। हम आगे के लेखों में प्रभु द्वारा इस मेज़ के स्थापित किए जाने के बारे में और विस्तार से देखेंगे, लेकिन अभी के लिये एक बहुत महत्वपूर्ण संबंधित बात पर ध्यान कीजिए, कि प्रभु और उसके शिष्यों ने फसह के भोज में भाग पृथ्वी के अपने परिवार के सदस्यों के साथ नहीं लिया, वरन् अपने आत्मिक परिवार के सदस्यों के साथ, उनके साथ जिन्होंने प्रभु को ग्रहण किया और उसके शिष्य बन गए, लिया। दूसरे शब्दों में, प्रभु ने अपनी यह मेज़ अपने आत्मिक परिवार, उसके शिष्यों के लिये स्थापित की; न कि हर किसी ऐसे व्यक्ति के लिये जो किसी भी रीति से प्रभु के साथ संबंधित अथवा जुड़े हुए हों। प्रभु ने फसह का भोज को अपने इन लोगों के साथ खाया, और फसह के भोज के खाते समय, भोज से उठाकर प्रभु की मेज़ या प्रभु भोज की स्थापना की (मत्ती 26:26-27;मरकुस 14:22-23)। प्रभु यीशु ने रोटी तोड़कर शिष्यों में, उनके लिये तोड़ी गई अपनी देह के प्रतीक के रूप में बाँटी, इसी प्रकार से उसने ‘दाख रस’ का कटोरा भी लिया और उनके लिये बहाए गए लहू के प्रतीक के रूप में बाँट दिया (लूका 22:19-20)। इस प्रकार से, उस पहले “प्रभु भोज” के समय भाग लेने वाले प्रभु और उसके शिष्य थे; लिये जाने वाली वस्तुएँ फसह के पर्व के भोज में प्रयोग की जानी वाली अखमीरी रोटी थी तथा उस भोज में प्रयोग किया जाने वाला बिना खमीर के प्रभाव का दाख रस था। प्रभु के शिष्यों को, उनके तथा बहुतेरों की छुड़ौती के लिए (लूका 22:20; मरकुस 14:24) प्रभु के द्वारा शीघ्र दिये जाने वाले अपने बलिदान के इन प्रतीकों में भाग लेना था।

        यहाँ पर ध्यान देने योग्य बात यह है कि सुसमाचारों तथा 1 कुरिन्थियों के संबन्धित वृतांतों में प्रभु भोज या प्रभु की मेज़ में भाग लेने के लिये “खमीरा दाख रस” या wine का, यानि कि किसी भी खमीरी वस्तु के प्रयोग का कोई उल्लेख नहीं है। पवित्र शास्त्र में सामान्यतः खमीर गलत शिक्षाओं और सिद्धांतों, और भ्रष्ट करने वाले प्रभावों का प्रतीक रहा है (मत्ती 16:6, 11; मरकुस 8:15; 1 कुरिन्थियों 5:6-8); और इसका प्रयोग फसह के पर्व के दिनों में पूर्णतः वर्जित था (निर्गमन 12:15, 19, 39; 13:7; 23:18; व्यवस्थाविवरण 16:3-4), और न ही व्यवस्था के अनुसार यहोवा के सम्मुख आग में जलाई जाने वाली किसी भी भेंट में खमीर के होने की अनुमति थी (निर्गमन 23:18; 34:25; लैव्यव्यवस्था 2:11; 7:12; 8:2; 10:12; गिनती 6:15)। सुसमाचारों के वृतांतों में कटोरे में “दाख रस” होने की बात लिखी गई है (मत्ती 26:29; मरकुस 14:25; लूका 22:18)। इसलिए वचन के आधार पर प्रभु भोज या प्रभु की मेज़ में “खमीरा दाख रस” या wine के प्रयोग किए जाने का कोई उल्लेख, समर्थन, अथवा पुष्टि नहीं है।

        परमेश्वर के वचन बाइबल में, मिस्र परमेश्वर के लोगों की बंधुवाई और सताए जाने का प्रतीक रहा है (निर्गमन 6:7; 20:2; व्यवस्थाविवरण 6:12; यहोशू 24:17); और उनके संपूर्ण इतिहास में, इस्राएलियों ने परमेश्वर की सहायता से अपने छुड़ाए जाने को, जिसे वह स्वयं कभी नहीं कर सकते थे, स्मरण किया और उसका उत्सव मनाया है (दानिय्येल 9:15; आमोस 2:10; मीका 7:15; प्रेरितों 7:17-20, 35-36)। परमेश्वर की सहायता से ही मिस्र से इस्राएलियों का छुटकारा, पाप और शैतान के दासत्व से प्रभु के कार्य और मध्यस्थता के द्वारा छुड़ाए जाने का प्रतीक है।

        इन बातों को ध्यान में रखने के बाद, अब हम निर्गमन 12 की ओर मुड़ते हैं, जहाँ प्रभु की मेज़ के पहले प्ररूप का वर्णन दिया गया है। निर्गमन 12 में परमेश्वर यहोवा के द्वारा मूसा में होकर मिस्र के विरुद्ध किए गए अंतिम आश्चर्यकर्म का वर्णन है, और इस घटना के तुरंत बाद फिरौन और मिस्रियों ने इस्राएलियों  को बंधुवाई से मुक्त कर दिया, और उन्हें मिस्र से बाहर जाने के लिए बाध्य किया, और उन लोगों ने वाचा किए हुए देश की ओर कूच किया। अपनी चर्चा के लिये, हम इस अध्याय के तीन खंडों को देखेंगे:

        इनके मध्य के खंड, पद 21-39 में इस्राएलियों  के द्वारा मेमने के बलिदान किए जाने, उसके लहू को अपने घर पर लगाए जाने, मिस्रियों के पहिलौठों की मृत्यु, और इस्राएलियों  के दासत्व से मुक्त कर के मिस्र से बाहर भेजे जाने और उनके साथ एक बड़ी मिली-जुली भीड़ के भी जाने के बारे में है; और अंतिम दो पद, 50 और 51 इस अध्याय का निष्कर्ष है।

        अगले लेख में हम पहले खंड, निर्गमन 12:1-14 को देखेंगे और उसका आत्मिक मेमने, प्रभु यीशु मसीह के बलिदान के साथ मिलान करेंगे। यदि आप एक मसीही विश्वासी हैं, तो आपके लिए यह अनिवार्य है कि आप परमेश्वर के वचन की सही शिक्षाओं को जानने के द्वारा एक परिपक्व विश्वासी बनें, तथा निरंतर परिपक्वता में बढ़ते जाएं। साथ ही सभी शिक्षाओं को वचन की कसौटी पर परखने, और बेरिया के विश्वासियों के समान, लोगों की बातों को पहले वचन से जाँचने और उनकी सत्यता को निश्चित करने के बाद ही उनको स्वीकार करने और मानने वाले बनें (प्रेरितों 17:11; 1 थिस्सलुनीकियों 5:21)। अन्यथा शैतान द्वारा छोड़े हुए झूठे प्रेरित और भविष्यद्वक्ता मसीह के सेवक बन कर (2 कुरिन्थियों 11:13-15) अपनी ठग विद्या और चतुराई से आपको प्रभु के लिए अप्रभावी कर देंगे और आप के मसीही जीवन एवं आशीषों का नाश कर देंगे। 

        यदि आपने अभी तक प्रभु की शिष्यता को स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी उसके पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। यदि आपने अभी तक नया जन्म, उद्धार नहीं पाया है, प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा नहीं माँगी है, तो अभी आपके पास समय और अवसर है कि यह कर लें। प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” परमेश्वर आपके साथ संगति रखने की बहुत लालसा रखता है तथा आपको आशीषित देखना चाहता है, लेकिन इसे सम्भव करना आपका व्यक्तिगत निर्णय है। सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी। क्या आप अभी समय और अवसर होते हुए, इस प्रार्थना को नहीं करेंगे? निर्णय आपका है।

Symbolisms with OT’s First Antecedent - Exodus 12

        In the previous article, in the introduction to this topic we have seen that Satan has spread many half-truths and wrong teachings about the Holy Communion, or The Lord’s Table; has mis-interpreted and misused Bible passages, and has beguiled and misguided the people about the Lord God’s purposes for the Holy Communion and its necessity. Thereby, essentially, turning it into an absolutely unintended, vain and meaningless ritual; but one that people nevertheless observe very reverentially. They do this because they have been misled into believing that their doing this makes them acceptable to God, worthy of gaining entry into heaven. They have fallen into this grave, suicidal error, because they have not bothered to study God’s Word for themselves and learn the truth about the Lord’s Table and other things. Instead, they are content with listening and following whatever is dished out to them in the name of God from the pulpit, never being eager to verify from the Bible all that is being told and taught to them. We had also seen that contrary to the popular belief that the Lord’s Table was established by the Lord just before His being betrayed and taken for crucifixion, the antecedents of this Table have been there for God’s chosen people Israel, since the time of Israel’s delivery from the bondage of Egypt. They have been affirmed for God’s people in the Law of God given through Moses as the Passover feast.

        The Lord Jesus, through fulfilling the related prophecies, prescribed it not just for the Israelites, but for all of His disciples, whether Jews or Gentiles, and instructed that His disciples “do this in remembrance of Me” (Luke 22:19); i.e., they were to continue practicing it till He comes again, as the Holy Spirit had it written down through the Apostle Paul (1 Corinthians 11:25-26). We will look into the Lord Jesus instituting this Table in some more detail in later articles, but for now please note a very pertinent fact that the Lord and His disciples participated in the Passover feast, not with their immediate earthly families, but together as a spiritual family by having accepted the Lord and become His disciples. In other words, this Table was meant for the Lord’s spiritual family, His disciples; and not for all and sundry, who might be associated with or related to the Lord in some manner. The Lord Jesus ate the Passover meal with these disciples, and during the meal got up and instituted the Lord’s Table (Matthew 26:26-27; Mark 14:22-23). Lord Jesus broke the bread and distributed it as a symbol of His body broken for them, and similarly asked the disciples to share the cup of the ‘fruit of the vine’ (Luke 22:18), a symbol of His blood shed for them (Luke 22:19-20). So, the participants in the first “Holy Communion” were the Lord Jesus and His disciples; the elements were the unleavened bread used for the Passover meal, and the unfermented grape-juice - the fruit of the vine, being used for that meal. The disciples were to eat and drink these symbols of the Lord’s coming sacrifice for the redemption of the disciples and many (Luke 22:20; Mark 14:24).

        The thing to note here is that the “wine”, the fermented end-product of the grape-juice, the fermentation process again involving the use of yeast, i.e., leaven, has never been used in the Gospel accounts and in 1 Corinthians in association for the elements of the Lord’s Table or The Holy Communion. Leaven, or yeast, in the Scriptures is generally a symbol of wrong teachings, doctrine and corrupting influences (Matthew 16:6, 11; Mark 8:15; 1 Corinthians 5:6-8) and was forbidden in the days of the Passover (Exodus 12:15, 19, 39; 13:7; 23:18; Deuteronomy 16:3-4) and in offerings made to the Lord by fire (Exodus 23:18; 34:25; Leviticus 2:11; 7:12; 8:2; 10:12; Numbers 6:15). In the Gospels, the content of the cup has been identified as the ‘fruit of the vine’ (Matthew 26:29; Mark 14:25; Luke 22:18). Therefore, there is no Scriptural support or sanction for using “wine” or any drink made through fermentation in the Holy Communion, the Lord’s Table.

        In God’s Word the Bible, Egypt has been a symbol of bondage and oppression of God’s people (Exodus 6:7; 20:2; Deuteronomy 6:12; Joshua 24:17); and throughout their history, the Israelites have remembered and celebrated their God given deliverance from this bondage and oppression, which they could never have accomplished on their own (Daniel 9:15; Amos 2:10; Micah 7:15; Acts 7:17-20, 35-36). Deliverance from Egypt by divine intervention, is symbolic of deliverance from bondage of sin and Satan by the intervention and work of the Lord Jesus Christ.

        With these in mind, let us now turn to Exodus 12, where the first antecedent of the Lord’s Table has been given. Exodus 12 describes the last miracle the Lord God did through Moses, the death of the firstborns of the Egyptians, and immediately following this event, Pharaoh and the Egyptians released the Israelites from their bondage, and made them go out of Egypt, and they left for the Promised Land. This chapter, for our purposes, can be considered in three sections:

1.   Exodus 12:1-14 The Lamb of the Passover meal and it’s being eaten

2.   Exodus 12:15-20 The Ordinance of the Passover meal

3.   Exodus 12:40-49 The Partakers of the Passover meal

        The in-between section from verse 21-39 describes the event of the sacrificing of the Lamb by the Israelites, applying the blood of the lamb to their houses, the death of the Egyptian firstborns, and the release of the Israelites from bondage and being sent out of Egypt; a mixed multitude also going out with them; and the last two verses 50 & 51 is the conclusion for the chapter.

        In the next article we will look at the first section, Exodus 12:1-14 and corelate it with the spiritual sacrificial lamb - the Lord Jesus Christ. If you are a Christian Believer, then it is necessary for you to be spiritually mature, learn the right teachings of God’s Word. You should also always, like the Berean Believers first check and test all teachings you receive from the Word of God, and only after ascertaining the truth and veracity of the teachings brought to you by men, should you accept and obey them (Acts 17:11; 1 Thessalonians 5:21). If you do not do this, the false apostles and prophets sent by Satan as ministers of Christ (2 Corinthians 11:13-15), will by their trickery, cunningness, and craftiness render you ineffective for the Lord and cause severe damage to your Christian life and your rewards.

        If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord Jesus, then take a decision in its favor now to secure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. The Lord's security and blessings are present where there is obedience of the Lord, where His Word is honored and followed. If you are still not Born Again, have not obtained salvation, or have not asked the Lord Jesus for forgiveness for your sins, then you have the time and opportunity to do so right now. Ask the Lord Jesus to forgive your sins, and voluntarily and sincerely surrender yourselves into His hands - this is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. All you have to do is say a short prayer, voluntarily and with a sincere heart, with heartfelt repentance for your sins, and a fully submissive attitude. You can do this in this manner, “Lord Jesus, I confess that I have disobeyed You, and have knowingly or unknowingly, in mind, in thought, in attitude, and in deeds, committed sins. I believe that you have fully borne the punishment of my sins by your sacrifice on the cross, and have paid the full price of those sins for all eternity. Please forgive my sins, change my heart and mind towards you, and make me your disciple, take me with you." God longs for your company and wants to see you blessed, but to make this possible, is your personal decision. One prayer said with a sincere and surrendered heart will turn your present and future, your life here on earth and in the next world, forever and make you heavenly and blessed. Will you not say this prayer now, while you have the time and opportunity to do so? The decision is yours.

        इसी प्रकार से प्रभु की मेज़, या, प्रभु भोज से संबंधित बातों को भी शैतान ने बिगाड़ दिया है, भ्रष्ट कर दिया है और उसे एक ऐसा स्वरूप जो परमेश्वर की ओर से कभी था ही नहीं दे कर सामने रख दिया है। इस से वह जो प्रभु यीशु के शिष्यों के लिये आशीषों, उनके मसीही जीवन के नवीनीकरण, और मसीही विश्वासियों के कायाकल्प का स्त्रोत होना था, वह लोगों के लिए एक व्यर्थ, निष्फल रीति बनकर रह गया है। एक ऐसी परंपरा जो बहुतेरों को इस झूठे विश्वास में बहकाए और फँसाए रखती है कि वे इसके निर्वाह के द्वारा धर्मी हैं, परमेश्वर को स्वीकार्य हैं, अनन्तकाल के लिये सुरक्षित हैं; जबकि वास्तविकता में वे अनन्तकाल के नरक के मार्ग पर हैं क्योंकि वे अपने पापों से कभी बचाए ही नहीं गए; उन्होंने कभी उद्धार पाया ही नहीं क्योंकि परमेश्वर के वचन को पढ़ने, सीखने, उसे स्वीकार करने और उसका पालन के स्थान पर, उन्होंने अपनी आँखें बंद करके, जो भी उन्हें पुल्पिट से परमेश्वर के नाम में कहा और सिखाया जाता है उसे ग्रहण कर लेने और मानते रहने का निर्णय कर रखा है। उन्होंने जान बूझकर यही चुना है कि वे परमेश्वर के वचन की बातों से अनभिज्ञ बने रहेंगे, प्रभु की मेज़ में भाग लेने से पहले उद्धार प्राप्त करने की प्रभु और उसके वचन की शिक्षा की अवहेलना करेंगे। साथ ही उन लोगों को क्रूस पर अपना बलिदान देने से कुछ देर पहले ही इस मेज़ की स्थापना के पीछे प्रभु के उद्देश्यों की कोई परवाह नहीं है।

Introduction

        The Lord’s Table, or, The Holy Communion is one of the sacraments of Christianity, revered and held in high esteem by all sects and denominations of Christendom. People often partake of it according to the manner taught to them and practiced in their sects, group, or denomination as a prescribed ritual. Usually, their understanding is that participating in it is a privilege earned by them by fulfilling the prescribed rites and rituals, told and taught to them. It is commonly believed by many that participating in it confers on them a special status, makes them holy and righteous, makes them acceptable to God, gives them the right of entering into God’s Kingdom. Therefore, in most of Christendom, especially amongst the sects, groups, and denominations, where the Holy Communion is held once a month or more rarely, members flock to their respective churches in large numbers to participate in it on the prescribed day; but on the other days, the church attendance for attending the worship service is much less. Commonly, the people also think that the Holy Communion was instituted and established by the Lord Jesus while eating the “Last Supper” with His disciples, a short while before His being caught and taken for crucifixion.

        These are all half-truths, mis-applications of Biblical facts, and misinterpretations of the Scriptural texts, brought in by Satan, to corrupt God’s Word, entice and entrap people in it, beguile them into accepting and living by the false teachings and wrong doctrines brought to them by him, as he has been doing since the Garden of Eden, where he encouraged and enticed Eve to commit the first sin by using this very ploy. As happened in the Garden of Eden, the accepting and following of Satan’ attractive arguments and appealing logic made the first humans disobey God, do that which seemed to be right and acceptable to them according to their own thinking and understanding; and sin, with its deleterious effects, entered into their lives and the creation, causing unfathomable brokenness and misery all around. Since then, Satan has been using this ploy very successfully against everything that God has said and commanded, to keep mankind from learning God’s truth and following it, obeying it.

        The Lord's Table, or, The Holy Communion too has been similarly corrupted and misinterpreted by Satan; given a form and purpose never intended by the Lord God for it. Thereby, that which was meant to be a source of blessing, renewal, and rejuvenation for the disciples of the Lord, has become a common, vain, fruitless ritual. A tradition that keeps many entrapped in a false sense of being religious, acceptable to God, and safe for eternity, while actually being destined to eternal hell since they have never been saved from their sins - because instead of studying, obeying, and following God’s Word, they have chosen to blindly accept whatever is dished out to them in the name of God from the pulpit, swallow it hook-line-and sinker, and follow it. They choose to deliberately remain oblivious to what the Lord God has actually said about first being saved, and only then participating in His Table; and they have no real concern for the Lord’s purpose in instituting it for His disciples, shortly before His sacrifice on the Cross of Calvary.

        God’s Word the Bible teaches us that the Lord’s Table, or the Holy Communion, in its prototypes, dates back to the time of Israel’s deliverance from the bondage of Egypt, i.e., even before the Law; and was affirmed in the Law of God given to the Israelites through Moses. Through co-relating these Old Testament antecedents of the Lord’s Table with the sacrifice of the Lord Jesus and the teachings He gave about His death, resurrection, and salvation of mankind, we can learn many things and understand the purpose and significance of the Holy Communion for us. From the next article we will start looking at the Old Testament antecedents of the Lord’s Table, and then gradually build up to it’s being instituted by the Lord Jesus, its necessity in a Christian Believer’s life, and consider the misunderstandings brought in by Satan about it, to keep people from receiving its blessings.

        If you are a Christian Believer, then it is necessary for you to become spiritually mature by learning the right teachings of God’s Word. You should also always, like the Berean Believers first check and test all teachings you get from the Word of God, and only after ascertaining the truth and veracity of the teachings brought by men, should you accept and obey them (Acts 17:11; 1 Thessalonians 5:21). If you do not do this, the false apostles and prophets sent by Satan as ministers of Christ (2 Corinthians 11:13-15), will by their trickery, cunningness, and craftiness render you ineffective for the Lord and cause severe damage to your Christian life and your rewards.

        If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord Jesus, then take a decision in its favor now to secure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. The Lord's security and blessings are present where there is obedience of the Lord, where His Word is honored and followed. If you are still not Born Again, have not obtained salvation, or have not asked the Lord Jesus for forgiveness for your sins, then you have the time and opportunity to do so right now. Ask the Lord Jesus to forgive your sins, and voluntarily and sincerely surrender yourselves into His hands - this is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. All you have to do is say a short prayer, voluntarily and with a sincere heart, with heartfelt repentance for your sins, and a fully submissive attitude. You can do this in this manner, “Lord Jesus, I confess that I have disobeyed You, and have knowingly or unknowingly, in mind, in thought, in attitude, and in deeds, committed sins. I believe that you have fully borne the punishment of my sins by your sacrifice on the cross, and have paid the full price of those sins for all eternity. Please forgive my sins, change my heart and mind towards you, and make me your disciple, take me with you." God longs for your company and wants to see you blessed, but to make this possible, is your personal decision. One prayer said with a sincere and surrendered heart will turn your present and future, your life here on earth and in the next world, forever and make you heavenly and blessed. Will you not say this prayer now, while you have the time and opportunity to do so? The decision is yours.

कलीसिया की, तथा मसीही जीवन में उन्नति

       उन बातों को देखने के पश्चात जिनके कारण मसीही जीवन तथा कलीसिया की उन्नति बाधित होती है, मसीही विश्वासी अपरिपक्व ही बने रहते हैं, आज हम व्यक्तिगत मसीही जीवन में, तथा प्रभु की कलीसिया के द्वारा, उन्नति के मार्ग पर अग्रसर होने के बारे में देखेंगे। प्रेरित पौलुस ने पवित्र आत्मा की अगुवाई में इफिसियों 4:15 में लिखा है कि, वरन प्रेम में सच्चाई से चलते हुए, सब बातों में उस में जो सिर है, अर्थात मसीह में बढ़ते जाएं। अर्थात मसीही जीवन में उन्नति का, बढ़ोतरी का तरीका है प्रेम, और सच्चाई से रहना तथा व्यवहार करना, और जीवन की हर बात में मसीह यीशु का अनुकरण करना। इन्हीं शिक्षाओं को पवित्र आत्मा ने अन्य कलीसियाओं के लिए भी पौलुस के द्वारा लिखवाया है। वास्तव में, वचन के अनुसार, प्रेम और सच्चाई प्रभु यीशु ही के विभिन्न स्वरूप या उपनाम हैं; उसी के गुण और चरित्र हैं। इसलिए जो प्रभु यीशु मसीह का अनुकरण करेगा, वह स्वतः ही प्रेम और सच्चाई का व्यवहार भी रखेगा। साथ ही, यह हमको अपने आप को जाँचने का तरीका भी देता है, कि यदि हम में प्रेम और सच्चाई नहीं हैं, तो हम बाहर से चाहे जो भी दिखाते और करते रहें, हम प्रभु यीशु का अनुकरण नहीं कर रहे हैं, इसलिए, यदि प्रेम और सच्चाई हमारे जीवन में नहीं हैं, तो हमारी अन्य हर बात व्यर्थ है, निष्फल है। प्रेम की परिभाषा और प्रेम से चलने या व्यवहार करने के क्या गुण हैं, यह 1 कुरिन्थियों 13 अध्याय में लिखवाया गया है; और इस अध्याय के अंतिम पद, पद 13 में यहाँ तक लिखा है कि पर अब विश्वास, आशा, प्रेम थे तीनों स्थाई है, पर इन में सब से बड़ा प्रेम है। प्रेरित यूहन्ना ने पवित्र आत्मा की अगुवाई में लिखा कि परमेश्वर प्रेम है और जो इस प्रेम को नहीं जानता है, वह परमेश्वर को भी नहीं जानता है (1 यूहन्ना 4:8, 16)। यूहन्ना ने ही इस प्रेम के कलीसिया में व्यावहारिक प्रकटीकरण के विषय लिखा, (1 यूहन्ना 4:20-21) और इस संदर्भ में “भाई” शब्द के अर्थ को भी बताया - प्रभु यीशु की मण्डली के हमारे साथी, सह-विश्वासी (1 यूहन्ना 3:14)।

        प्रभु यीशु मसीह ने अपने विषय कहा था, यीशु ने उस से कहा, मार्ग और सच्चाई और जीवन मैं ही हूं; बिना मेरे द्वारा कोई पिता के पास नहीं पहुंच सकता (यूहन्ना 14:6)। और मसीह यीशु का अनुकरण करने के विषय पौलुस ने लिखा, तुम मेरी सी चाल चलो जैसा मैं मसीह की सी चाल चलता हूं (1 कुरिन्थियों 11:1)। कुलुस्सियों 2 अध्याय, प्रभु यीशु मसीह का अनुसरण करते हुए उसके वचन और सच्चाई के साथ चलते रहने के बारे में है। पौलुस में होकर परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा ने इस 2 अध्याय लिखवाया है:

 * पद 1-2 - कलीसियाओं में परिश्रम करते रहने में पौलुस का उद्देश्य था कि कलीसियाएँ प्रेम में गठे तथा शांति से रहने वाली बन जाएँ, और वे परमेश्वर पिता तथा प्रभु यीशु के पहचान में स्थापित और दृढ़ हों। अर्थात, प्रेम में गठना, शांति से रहना, और पिता परमेश्वर तथा प्रभु यीशु की पहचान में स्थापित और दृढ़ होना परस्पर संबंधित हैं, एक-दूसरे के सहायक एवं पूरक हैं, तथा व्यावहारिक मसीही जीवन के लिए अनिवार्य हैं।

 * पद 3-8 - प्रभु यीशु मसीह ही में बुद्धि और ज्ञान के सारे भण्डार छिपे हैं; इसलिए जो मसीह यीशु की पहचान और ज्ञान में स्थापित और दृढ़ होगा, वह मनुष्यों की लुभाने वाली बातों से भरमाया भी नहीं जाएगा। जब भी कोई शंका हो, प्रभु यीशु मसीह और उसकी शिक्षाओं की ओर लौट आएं, और गलत शिक्षा तथा भरमाए जाने से बच जाएंगे।

 * पद 9-15 - मसीह यीशु ही परमेश्वर का सदेह प्रतिरूप है, और पूर्णतः परमेश्वर भी है। जो मसीह यीशु में, अर्थात उसके वचन और उसकी शिक्षाओं में बने रहते हैं, उनका पालन करते रहते हैं, वे उसकी भरपूरी के भी संभागी होते हैं। मसीह यीशु में हमारे लिए व्यवस्था की विधियों की सभी बातें पूरी कर दी गई हैं, और उन्हें पूरा करके उसने उनका हमारे द्वारा फिर से उनका पालन किए जाने को हटा दिया है, व्यवस्था के पालन से मुक्त कर दिया है। जब हम "मसीह यीशु में" हैं, हम व्यवस्था के पूरे किए जाने, हमारे सामने से हटा लिए जाने की स्थिति में हैं, और अब हमें फिर से व्यवस्था के निर्वाह में जाने की कोई आवश्यकता नहीं है। मसीह यीशु में होकर अब हम परमेश्वर की दृष्टि में धर्मी ठहरते हैं। इसलिए फिर से व्यवस्था की बातों के पालन में जाना, कर्मों द्वारा धर्मी बनने के प्रयास करना, प्रभु यीशु मसीह के कार्य को व्यर्थ करना, उसे नीचा दिखाना, उसका अपमान करना है।

 * पद 16-23 - उपरोक्त बातों को ध्यान में रखते हुए, अब किसी भी मसीही विश्वासी को किसी भी प्रकार के कर्मों की धार्मिकता के द्वारा अपने आप को धर्मी दिखाने और ठहराने की आवश्यकता नहीं है। इन पदों में कही गई ये विभिन्न बातें देखने और सुनने में अच्छी और सही लगती हैं, किन्तु किसी का भी जीवन नहीं बदल सकती हैं, उसे पापों से मुक्ति प्रदान नहीं कर सकती हैं। यह परिवर्तन और पापों से मुक्त किया जाना केवल और केवल पापों से पश्चाताप करने और प्रभु यीशु मसीह से उनके लिए क्षमा माँगकर उसे अपना जीवन समर्पित करने के द्वारा ही होता है। जैसा इस अध्याय के अंतिम पद में, अंतिम वाक्य में लिखा है, विभिन्न कर्मों और अनुष्ठानों की ये सारी बातें तो शारीरिक लालसाओं को भी नहीं रोकने पाती हैं, तो फिर उन पर विजयी कैसे बनाने पाएंगी?

        इसलिए प्रेम, सच्चाई और प्रभु यीशु में बढ़ते जाना, प्रभु यीशु को “सिर” अर्थात नियंत्रण करने और मार्गदर्शन करने वाला मानकर उसकी, तथा उसके वचन की अधीनता में बने रहना ही व्यक्तिगत रीति से मसीही जीवन में, और कलीसिया के जीवन की उन्नति और सुरक्षा का मार्ग है। इसलिए इन व्यावहारिक बातों में से किसी को भी अपने जीवन में निष्क्रिय अथवा घटने ना दें; वरन् इनमें बढ़ते ही चले जाएँ।  

        यदि आप एक मसीही विश्वासी हैं, तो आपके लिए यह अनिवार्य है कि आप प्रेम, सच्चाई और प्रभु यीशु मसीह के अनुकरण में निरंतर न केवल बने रहें, वरन बढ़ते भी जाएं। यही आपके मसीही जीवन को और उन्नत बनाने, सुधारने, और परमेश्वर के लिए उपयोगी बनाने का मार्ग है, तथा साथ ही आपको अपने स्वयं की जाँच करते रहने का एक माप-दण्ड भी प्रदान करता है, जिससे आप मसीही जीवन में अपनी प्रगति और उन्नति को जाँचते तथा देखते रहें। इसलिए अपने जीवन में इन तीन बातों के व्यावहारिक उपयोग को कभी कम न होने दें, उनमें बढ़ते ही रहने के प्रयास में लगे रहें।

        यदि आपने अभी तक प्रभु की शिष्यता को स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी उसके पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। यदि आपने अभी तक नया जन्म, उद्धार नहीं पाया है, प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा नहीं माँगी है, तो अभी आपके पास समय और अवसर है कि यह कर लें। प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” परमेश्वर आपके साथ संगति रखने की बहुत लालसा रखता है तथा आपको आशीषित देखना चाहता है, लेकिन इसे सम्भव करना आपका व्यक्तिगत निर्णय है। सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी। क्या आप अभी समय और अवसर होते हुए, इस प्रार्थना को नहीं करेंगे? निर्णय आपका है।

English Translation

Growth and Edification in Christian Life & of the Church

        Having seen those things because of which the Christian Believer’s life and the life of the Church are adversely affected, the Believers remain immature and child-like, today we will see about growing in the Christian life and edification of the Church. The Apostle Paul, under the guidance of the Holy Spirit writes in Ephesians 4:15 but, speaking the truth in love, may grow up in all things into Him who is the head--Christ. In other words, the way to grow in Christian life and be edified is through maintaining Christian love and truth, and live accordingly, having Christ Jesus as our “head”; to emulate the Lord Jesus in everything. The Holy Spirit had these teachings written for the other churches also, through Paul. Actually speaking, Biblically, Love and Truth are the other names used in God’s Word for the Lord Jesus Christ, they are His characteristics. Therefore, whoever emulates the Lord Jesus, will also automatically live a life of following love and truth. This also give us a method to examine ourselves, if we are not walking and growing in love and truth, then outwardly whatever kind of life we may be living and exhibiting, but actually we are not really following the Lord Jesus; therefore, everything else that we say and do as a Christian Believer, is vain and fruitless. The definition of Love and the meaning of walking or living in love has been written for us in 1 Corinthians 13. It says in the last verse of this chapter, And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love (1 Corinthians 13:13). The Apostle John, under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit wrote that God is love, and he who does not love, does not know God (1 John 4:8, 16). John also wrote about the practical demonstration of this love in the life of the Christian Believer (1 John 4:20-21); and gave the meaning of the word “brother” in this context - one who is our co-believer, our colleague in the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ (1 John 3:14).

        The Lord Jesus has said about Himself, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me (John 14:6). About following the Lord Jesus, Paul wrote, Imitate me, just as I also imitate Christ (1 Corinthians 11:1). Colossians chapter 2 is about following the Lord Jesus and walking with Him in truth, obeying His Word. Through Paul, the Holy Spirit has had it written in this 2nd chapter:

* Verses 1-2 - Paul’s purpose in laboring amongst the churches was that they stay knit together in love, live with peace, and be firmly established in knowing the Lord God and Lord Jesus Christ. Implying that living together in love, in peace, and being firmly established in knowing God and the Lord Jesus, are all interconnected; all complement each other, and are essential for a practical Christian life.

 * Verse 3-8 - All the treasures of knowledge and wisdom are hidden in the Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, he who is firmly established in the knowledge and understanding of the Lord Jesus, will not be misled into wrong things by the deceptions of men. Therefore, whenever, there is any doubt about anything, come back to the Lord and His teachings; and you will not be carried away by wrong teachings and false doctrines.

 * Verses 9-15 - Lord Jesus is the bodily manifestation of God and is fully God. Those who maintain themselves in the Lord Jesus and His Word, obey their teachings, they will also be partakers of His fullness. All the requirements of the Law have been fulfilled for us by the Lord Jesus, and having been fulfilled, there is no more need for us to try to fulfil it; the Law has been taken away as completed, by the Lord Jesus. When we are “in Him”, we are in the position of fulfillment of the Law, its being completed and taken away from us, and we are no longer required to fulfill the Law again. In God’s eyes, by being ‘in Christ’, we are now righteous. Therefore, turning back to the Law, trying to become righteous by the Law or through works, is rendering the Lord’s work to be vain, is belittling and insulting Him.

 * Verses 16-23 - Keeping the above things in mind, no Christian Believer is ever required to show or prove himself to be righteous through any works of righteousness. The various things that are said in these verses appear to be very good, pious, and reverential, but they cannot in any manner transform anyone’s life, deliver them from their sin. This transformation and being set free from sin can only happen by repenting of sins, asking the Lord Jesus to forgive them, and surrendering one’s life to the Lord Jesus. As has been written in the last verse of this chapter, all these various things of various kinds of religious works, rites and rituals are unable to even control the physical desires and lusts, then how can they make one victorious over them?

        Therefore, to grow in love, truth, and the Lord Jesus is the only way for edification and growth in Christian life and of the Church. This happens when we accept the Lord Jesus as our spiritual “head”, i.e., the one who controls, directs, and guides our life, and we remaining submitted, obedient, and surrendered to Him continue to live and do as He leads us to do.

        If you are a Christian Believer, then it is essential that you not only remain in love, truth, and the Word of the Lord God, but also grow in it. This is the only way to help you improve and mature your Christian life and make you useful for the work of the Lord. This also provides us with a method of examining and evaluating our lives, and to keep assessing the status of our growth in our Christian lives. Therefore, never let any of these practical things stagnate or decrease in your life; rather, always be growing in them.
