    हमने पिछले लेखों में देखा है कि मन-फिराव या पश्चाताप, और सुसमाचार में विश्वास करना, दो ऐसी शिक्षाएँ हैं जो सुसमाचार के बारे में सीखने के लिए अत्यंत महत्वपूर्ण हैं। इन में से हमने पश्चाताप से सम्बन्धित कुछ महत्वपूर्ण किन्तु बहुत कम विचार की जाने वाली और सिखाई जाने वाली शिक्षाओं को देखा है; और अब हम सुसमाचार पर विश्वास करने से सम्बन्धित शिक्षाओं पर विचार कर रहे हैं। इस सन्दर्भ में, पिछले लेख में हमने देखा है कि पहली कलीसिया में केवल वे ही सम्मिलित किये जाते थे जिन्होंने उद्धार पाया था, जो विश्वासी थे, अर्थात जिन्होंने अपने पापों से पश्चाताप किया और व्यक्तिगत रीति से प्रभु यीशु को अपना उद्धारकर्ता ग्रहण किया था; अन्य कोई नहीं – उद्धार पाने वाले विश्वासी के परिवार के सदस्य भी नहीं। और, कलीसिया में जो भी जोड़ा जाता था, वह केवल प्रभु यीशु ही के द्वारा जोड़ा जाता था; किसी भी मनुष्य को, वह चाहे कोई भी क्यों न हो, यह अधिकार नहीं था कि वह किसी को भी कलीसिया में जोड़ दे। पहली कलीसिया के समय में, जो कोई भी प्रभु के पीछे चलना चाहता था और उसकी कलीसिया का भाग बनना चाहता था, उसका व्यक्तिगत रीति से, स्वेच्छा से, और समझते-बूझते हुए उद्धार होना, विश्वासी बनना अनिवार्य था। किसी व्यक्ति के प्रभु के पीछे हो लेने का निर्णय स्वतः ही उसके परिवार के सदस्यों पर लागू नहीं हो जाता था; और किसी परिवार के प्रभु के पीछे चलने का निर्णय स्वतः ही किसी ऐसे सदस्य पर लागू नहीं होता था जो परिवार के इस निर्णय से सहमत न हो।

    हम प्रेरितों 5:14 से देखते हैं कि प्रेरितों और प्रभु यीशु शिष्यों की सेवकाई के द्वारा विश्वासियों की संख्या में बहुतायत से वृद्धि हुई (प्रेरितों 5:42), और बहुतेरे विश्वास करने वाले स्त्री और पुरुष प्रभु में जुड़ गए। साथ ही, प्रेरितों 6:1 में लिखा है कि शिष्य बहुत होते जा रहे थे। ध्यान कीजिए कि इस समय तक परमेश्वर का वचन प्रभु यीशु के पीछे चलने वालों को चेले या शिष्य ही कह रहा है; उन्हें “मसीही” संबोधित नहीं कर रहा है। स्तिफनुस के मारे जाने के बाद, यरूशलेम में कलीसिया पर बड़ा सताव आया, और कलीसिया के अधिकाँश सदस्य, जो, जैसा हम देख चुके हैं, उद्धार पाए हुए विश्वासी थे, आस-पास के इलाकों में तित्तर-बित्तर हो गए (प्रेरितों 8:1)। उस समय पौलुस, जो तब शाऊल के नाम से जाना जाता था, प्रभु के शिष्यों को सताने में लगा हुआ था (प्रेरितों 9:1); और यहाँ तक परमेश्वर के वचन में उन्हें अभी भी “शिष्य” या चेले ही कहा गया है। फिर, प्रेरितों 18:25-26 में, पवित्र आत्मा ने, अपुल्लोस, अक्विला, और प्रिस्किल्ला की सेवकाई के सन्दर्भ में एक नई अभिव्यक्ति लिखवाई है -  “प्रभु का मार्ग।” और फिर यह अभिव्यक्ति प्रभु के शिष्यों पर भी लागू की गई, और उन्हें “मार्ग या पन्थ के लोग” कहा गया, और उनके विश्वास तथा जीवन जीने के तरीके को वचन में “मार्ग या पन्थ” कहा गया (प्रेरितों 19:9, 23; 22:4; 24:14, 22)।

    यहाँ पर ध्यान देने के लिए दो महत्वपूर्ण बातें हैं: पहली, यह अभिव्यक्ति “मार्ग या पन्थ” प्रभु यीशु के पीछे चलने वालों के लिए, प्रभु के शिष्यों के लिए उपयोग किया गया है। अर्थात, किसी व्यक्ति के “मार्ग या पन्थ” का जन होने का मापदण्ड वही था जो प्रभु यीशु का शिष्य होने का था – व्यक्तिगत रीति से, स्वेच्छा से, समझ-बूझ के साथ पापों से पश्चाताप करने, प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता में उसे समर्पित जीवन जीने का निर्णय लेना। कहीं पर भी ऐसा कोई लेख अथवा संकेत नहीं है कि किसी को भी “मार्ग या पन्थ” में किसी अन्य रीति से सम्मिलित किया गया हो। दूसरी, बाइबल में कहीं पर भी न तो कहा गया है और न ही कोई संकेत दिया गया है कि प्रभु के पीछे चलना, किसी धर्म का निर्वाह करने, किसी धर्म का अनुयायी होने के लिए धर्म-परिवर्तन करने, या कुछ निर्धारित धार्मिक रीति-रिवाज़ों का पालन करने के समान था। बाइबल के अनुसार वास्तविक मसीहियत कभी भी कोई धर्म नहीं थी, अभी भी कोई धर्म नहीं है, और न ही कभी कोई धर्म होगी। यह हमेशा ही प्रभु और उसके वचन में अपने विश्वास को जीने का मार्ग है, और हमेशा ही यही रहेगा। 

    मसीही विश्वास, अर्थात् यह “मार्ग,” और मसीही या ईसाई धर्म, यद्यपि वे एक ही नाम – यीशु मसीह, और एक ही पुस्तक – बाइबल को तो लेते हैं, किन्तु वे दोनों दो बिलकुल भिन्न बातें हैं। मसीही विश्वास पूर्णतः स्वेच्छा से पापों से पश्चाताप करने, और प्रभु यीशु तथा उसके वचन की आज्ञाकारिता और समर्पण में जिए गए जीवन, उसी के मार्ग पर चलने, और प्रभु के द्वारा धर्मी और सही किये जाने के द्वारा परमेश्वर को स्वीकार्य होकर उसके राज्य में प्रवेश करने के बारे में है। जबकि मसीही या ईसाई धर्म पूर्णतः किसी परिवार विशेष में जन्म लेने, मनुष्यों की आज्ञाकारिता में रहने, मनुष्यों के नियमों का निर्वाह करने, और मनुष्यों द्वारा गढ़ी गई धार्मिक रीतियों परम्पराओं, पर्वों, और त्यौहारों आदि के पालन के बारे में है; यद्यपि इन बातों का बाइबल में कहीं कोई उल्लेख नहीं है। परमेश्वर ने इन्हें कभी नहीं दिया, तथा पहली कलीसिया ने कभी उनका पालन या निर्वाह नहीं किया गया। किन्तु फिर भी ईसाई या मसीही धर्म के अनुयायी इस बात में भरोसा रखते हैं कि उनके द्वारा इन धार्मिक बातों के पालन से वे परमेश्वर की दृष्टि में धर्मी बन जाएँगे, परमेश्वर को स्वीकार्य हो जाएँगे, तथा परमेश्वर के राज्य में प्रवेश पा जाएँगे। हमने पहले के लेख में कई उदाहरणों को देखा है कि यह एक व्यर्थ, निरर्थक, निष्फल विचार है, जिसका परमेश्वर के वचन में कोई समर्थन नहीं है।

    हम अगले लेख में इस से आगे देखेंगे, और इसके बारे में कुछ और विस्तार से देखेंगे।

    यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। स्वेच्छा से अपने पापों के लिये पश्चाताप करके प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु, मैं अपने पापों के लिए पश्चातापी हूँ, उनके लिए आप से क्षमा माँगता हूँ। मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मुझे और मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

Teachings Related to the Gospel – 19

 

    We have seen in the previous articles that repentance, and believing in the gospel, are two teachings of paramount importance in learning about the gospel. Of these, we have considered some important but rarely considered and taught teachings related to repentance; and are now considering teachings related to believing in the gospel. In this context, in the last article we had seen that in the first Church, only those who were saved, by repenting of their sins and accepting the Lord Jesus as their personal savior, i.e., those who were Believers, were added to the Church, and none else; not even the family members of the saved person, the Believer. Whoever was added to the Church, was added only by the Lord Jesus; no man, whoever he may have been, had the authority to add anyone to the Lord’s Church. At the time of the first Church, everyone who wanted to follow the Lord and be a part of His Church, had to be saved, had to become a Believer, individually, voluntarily, and deliberately. A person’s decision to follow the Lord did not automatically also apply to his family members; and a family’s decision to follow the Lord did not automatically apply to an individual who did not go with the family’s decision.

    We see from Acts 5:14 that through the ministry of the Apostles and the disciples of the Lord Jesus (Acts 5:42), the number of Believers increased rapidly, and multitudes of believing men and women were added to the Lord. Again, it says in Acts 6:1 that the number of disciples were multiplying. Note that till this point God’s Word calls the followers of the Lord Jesus as ‘disciples;’ it does not speak of them as “Christians.” Following the martyrdom of Stephen, a great persecution of the Church arose in Jerusalem, and most of the Church members, who, as we have seen, were all saved and Believers, were scattered into the surrounding regions (Acts 8:1). Paul, then known as Saul, continued to wreak havoc amongst the followers of the Lord (Acts 9:1); who, till this point are still being referred to as “the disciples of the Lord” in God’s Word. Then in Acts 18:25-26, the Holy Spirit, in relation to the ministry of Apollos, Aquilla, and Priscilla, introduces a new term for following the Lord – “the way of the Lord.” This term is then applied to the disciples, the followers of the Lord, and they are called “the people of The Way;” and their faith and way of living is called “The Way” (Acts 19:9, 23; 22:4; 24:14, 22) in the Word.

    There are two important things to note here: firstly, this term “the way” has been applied to the disciples, or the followers of the Lord Jesus. So, the basic criteria of being a person of ‘the way’ was the same as it was for being a follower of the Lord – individually, voluntarily, deliberately deciding to repent of sins, obey and follow the Lord Jesus. There is no mention or indication that anyone was ever inducted into ‘the way’ through any other means. Secondly, never ever, nowhere in the Bible has following the Lord Jesus ever been stated, or even implied as being the same as following a religion, converting to a religion, and adhering to some prescribed religious practices and rituals. True Biblical Christianity never was a religion, is still not a religion, and never will be religion. It always has been a way of living out one's Faith in the Lord Jesus and His Word, and that is what it always will be. 

    The Christian Faith, i.e., the Way, and Christian religion, though associated with the same name – Jesus Christ, and the same book – the Bible, are two entirely different things. Christian Faith is all about repenting of sins, and living a life submitted and obedient to the Lord Jesus and His Word, and following His Way, trusting in the Lord for being righteous and acceptable to God, to enter His kingdom. Whereas Christian religion is all about being born in a particular family, being obedient to men, and to the commandments of men, and fulfilling religious rites, rituals, feasts, festivals etc. most of which are devised by man, and have never even been mentioned in the Bible. They were never instituted by God, and they were never practised by the first Church. Yet, the people following the Christian religion trust that their fulfilling these religious activities will make them righteous and acceptable to God, to enter His Kingdom. We have seen from many examples earlier that this is a vain, futile thought that has no support whatsoever from God’s Word.

    We will carry on from here in the next article, and explore this a little more.

    If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord, make your decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now to ensure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Voluntarily repent of your sins and ask the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily and sincerely, surrender yourself to Him - this is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life.  Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.

    पिछले लेख में हमने देखा था कि चारों सुसमाचारों के लेखों में शब्द “मसीही” कहीं भी नहीं उपयोग किया गया है; न तो प्रभु यीशु के द्वारा, न उसके शिष्यों के द्वारा; और न ही जन-साधारण के द्वारा उनके लिए जो प्रभु यीशु के साथ किसी प्रकार से जुड़े हुए थे या उसका अनुसरण कर रहे थे। प्रभु की पृथ्वी की सेवकाई के समय में, उसके साथ लोगों की भीड़ और कुछ शिष्य चला करते थे; और उसने उन शिष्यों में से बारह को चुनकर उन्हें प्रेरित कहा था। हमने देखा था कि प्रभु ने कुछ लोगों को व्यक्तिगत रीति से उसके पीछे हो लेने के लिए बुलाया था; किन्तु किसी एक व्यक्ति के बुलाए जाने से उसके परिवार के शेष सदस्य स्वतः ही प्रभु के शिष्य नहीं बन जाते थे; हर किसी को व्यक्तिगत रीति से प्रभु के पास आना होता था। किसी के प्रभु का शिष्य बन जाने से, सामान्य लोगों के लिए उसका परिवार कुछ विशिष्ट नहीं हो जाता था; और स्वयं प्रभु यीशु ने भी अपने परिवार के लोगों को, उनके उसके साथ सम्बन्धित होने के नाते, कोई विशेष स्तर अथवा स्थान नहीं दिया। यह इस बात पर ज़ोर देता है कि जो प्रभु के पीछे चलना चाहते हैं, उन्हें इसके लिए अपना व्यक्तिगत निर्णय लेना है, और व्यक्तिगत रीति से उसका निर्वाह करना है। प्रभु का अनुयायी होना पारिवारिक सम्बन्धों अथवा वंशावली के कारण नहीं होता है। आज हम देखेंगे और सीखेंगे कि आरंभिक कलीसिया में लोग किस प्रकार से प्रभु यीशु के साथ जुड़े और उसके अनुयायी बने।

    नए नियम में, चारों सुसमाचारों के ठीक बाद, प्रेरितों के काम पुस्तक है; यह पहली कलीसिया का इतिहास है; अर्थात प्रभु यीशु के आरंभिक अनुयायियों की गतिविधियों का वृतान्त है। प्रभु यीशु के इन आरम्भिक अनुयायियों ने प्रभु के बारे में, प्रेरितों तथा प्रभु यीशु के उन शिष्यों की सेवकाई के द्वारा जाना था, जिन्होंने पिन्तेकुस्त के दिन पवित्र आत्मा से सामर्थ्य प्राप्त की थी (प्रेरितों 2:1-4)। पिन्तेकुस्त के दिन पहला प्रचार पतरस के द्वारा किया गया था, और लगभग तीन हज़ार लोगों ने उसके सन्देश को ग्रहण किया, पापों से पश्चाताप किया, बपतिस्मा लिया और उसी दिन शिष्यों के साथ जुड़ गए (प्रेरितों 2:38-41)। उसके बाद से प्रभु के अनुयायियों की सेवकाई बढ़ती और फलती-फूलती गई, और प्रतिदिन लोग उनमें जोड़े जाते थे (प्रेरितों 2:42-47)।

    यहाँ, प्रेरितों 2:47 में कुछ बहुत महत्वपूर्ण लिखा गया है; वहाँ लिखा है “...जो उद्धार पाते थे, उन को प्रभु प्रति दिन उन में मिला देता था।” यहाँ पर प्रथम कलीसिया की बढ़ोतरी से सम्बन्धित ध्यान देने के लिए दो बहुत महत्वपूर्ण बातें हैं: पहली, प्रभु ही अपनी कलीसिया में लोगों को मिलाता था; न तो कोई प्रेरित, न प्रभु का कोई शिष्य, और न ही कोई व्यक्ति जो जुड़ना चाहता था, यह कर सकता था। जो भी मिलाया जाता था, वह प्रभु ही के द्वारा मिलाया जाता था, किसी मनुष्य के द्वारा नहीं; यह मत्ती 16:18 में प्रभु द्वारा कही गई बात के अनुसार है कि वह ही अपनी कलीसिया बनाएगा। दूसरी बात, प्रभु केवल उन्हें ही कलीसिया में मिलाता था “जो उद्धार पाते थे।” यह उसके समान था जो यूहन्ना बपतिस्मा देने वाला किया करता था, वह केवल उन्हीं को बपतिस्मा देता था जो पापों से पश्चाताप करते थे, और उन्हें मना कर देता था जो केवल एक रस्म के समान यह करना चाहते थे (मत्ती 3:5-8)। इस तथ्य को, कि केवल प्रभु ही कलीसिया में लोगों को मिलाता था, प्रेरितों 5:12-14 में भी दोहराया गया है और पुष्टि की गई है कि केवल जो विश्वास करते थे उन्हें ही कलीसिया में जोड़ा जाता था। बाइबल के इस तथ्य के आधार पर, आज की कलीसिया के अगुवों को बहुत गंभीरता से इस बात को जाँचना चाहिए, कि वे जिन लोगों को, और जिस आधार पर कलीसिया का “सदस्य” बना देते हैं, और फिर उन लोगों के कारण कलीसिया पर जो ऊँगलियाँ उठाई जाती हैं, क्या इस सब के लिए वे प्रभु के सामने खड़े होकर जवाब दे सकेंगे; उसके प्रकोप को झेल सकेंगे?

    यद्यपि प्रेरितों के द्वारा बहुत से अद्भुत काम, चिह्न और चंगाइयां होते थे, किन्तु न तो वे, और न ही कोई अन्य व्यक्ति प्रभु की कलीसिया में किसी को जोड़ सकता था। साथ ही इस बात पर भी ध्यान कीजिए कि जिन्होंने इन अद्भुत कामों, चंगाइयों, चिह्नों आदि को देखा था, या स्वयं अनुभव किया था, जिन पर ये किये गए थे, उन्हें कभी भी, कहीं भी, “उद्धार पाए हुए” या “विश्वासी” या “प्रभु के शिष्य” नहीं कहा गया है। अर्थात, प्रभु के नाम में और प्रभु की सामर्थ्य से इन आश्चर्यकर्मों, अलौकिक कार्यों को अनुभव करना और प्राप्त करना, उद्धार पाने, या विश्वासी के रूप में स्वीकार किये जाने, या प्रभु की कलीसिया में सम्मिलित किये जाने का गुण अथवा आधार नहीं था।

    इन बातों से हम सीखते हैं कि किसी भी मनुष्य को, चाहे वह प्रभु का प्रेरित हो या शिष्य, प्रभु की कलीसिया में लोगों को जोड़ने की अनुमति या अधिकार नहीं दिया गया है। वे लोग भी जो प्रभु की कलीसिया का अंग बनना चाहते हैं, अपने आप से ऐसा नहीं कर सकते हैं। प्रभु ने मत्ती 16:18 में कहा है कि अपनी कलीसिया वह ही बनाएगा, और प्रभु की कलीसिया में केवल उन्हीं को स्थान दिया जाता है जिन्हें प्रभु ने चुना और जिनका अनुमोदन किया है; और किसी को नहीं। ध्यान देने योग्य एक और महत्वपूर्ण बात है कि केवल वही जो उद्धार पाए हुए, अर्थात विश्वासी थे, (प्रेरितों 2:37; 5:14), अर्थात जिन्होंने पापों से पश्चाताप किया और व्यक्तिगत रीति से यीशु को अपना प्रभु और उद्धारकर्ता ग्रहण किया (प्रेरितों 2:38), प्रभु ने केवल उन्हें ही अपनी कलीसिया में जोड़ा है। साथ ही, प्रभु यीशु द्वारा उसकी कलीसिया में जोड़े जाने की जो प्राथमिक आवश्यकता है, उद्धार पाया हुआ अर्थात विश्वासी होना, उससे यह स्पष्ट संकेत मिलता है कि यह व्यक्ति द्वारा अपने पापों और उनके लिए पश्चाताप करने से सम्बन्धित जानते-बूझते हुए, सोच-विचार कर के लिया गया निर्णय है। और इन पदों में वाक्य की रचना भी इसी ओर संकेत करती है कि उद्धार पाना, विश्वासी होना, और प्रभु के द्वारा कलीसिया में जोड़ा जाना व्यक्तिगत निर्णय का कार्य था। 

    इसलिए, यह स्वतः ही उन लोगों के कलीसिया का भाग होने को अस्वीकार कर देता है जिन्होंने पापों से पश्चाताप करने, उद्धार पाने, विश्वासी होने का व्यक्तिगत निर्णय नहीं लिया है। दूसरे शब्दों में, किसी व्यक्ति का अपना निर्णय, उसके परिवार पर लागू नहीं होता है; और न ही किसी परिवार के मुख्या अथवा किसी अन्य सदस्य द्वारा लिया गया निर्णय परिवार के अन्य सदस्यों पर मान्य हो जाता है। ऐसा नहीं होता है कि कोई एक जन ने उद्धार पाया, विश्वासी बना, और फिर उसके कारण उसके परिवार के अन्य लोगों को भी प्रभु के अनुयायी मान लिया गया और उन्हें भी कलीसिया में जोड़ दिया गया। एक अन्य ध्यान में रखने योग्य महत्वपूर्ण बात है कि क्योंकि किसी व्यक्ति ने अद्भुत काम, चंगाइयों, और चिह्नों को अनुभव किया है, इसलिए यह मान्य नहीं है कि वह उद्धार पाया हुआ विश्वासी, और प्रभु यीशु की कलीसिया का एक अंग भी हो गया है।

    यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। स्वेच्छा से अपने पापों के लिये पश्चाताप करके प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु, मैं अपने पापों के लिए पश्चातापी हूँ, उनके लिए आप से क्षमा माँगता हूँ। मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मुझे और मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

Teachings Related to the Gospel – 18

 

    In the previous article we have seen that in the four Gospel accounts, the word “Christian” has never been used; neither by the Lord Jesus, nor by His disciples, nor by the general public, for anyone associated with, or following the Lord Jesus. During the time of the Lord’s earthly ministry, the crowds and His disciples moved with Him; and out of those disciples He chose twelve and called them Apostles. We saw that the Lord had individually called certain people to follow Him; but calling one person did not automatically make his other family members the Lord’s disciples; each one had to come to the Lord individually. Being a disciple of the Lord did not make the family of that disciple special for the public; and even the Lord Jesus did not treat His own family as anyone special because of their relationship with Him. This emphasizes that those who want to follow the Lord, must come to a personal decision to follow Him, and do it as an individual. Following the Lord is not a matter of familial relationships and lineage. Today we will see how people came to be associated with the Lord Jesus and became His followers in the initial Church and learn from it.

    In the New Testament, immediately after the four Gospel accounts is the book of Acts; it is the history of the first Church, i.e., the account of the activities of the initial followers of the Lord Jesus Christ. These initial followers of the Lord Jesus learnt about the Lord, through the ministry of the Apostles and the disciples of the Lord Jesus, who were empowered on the day of Pentecost by the Holy Spirit (Acts 2:1-4). The first preaching was done on the day of Pentecost by Peter, and about three thousand people accepted his message, repented of their sins, were baptized, and were added to the disciples that day (Acts 2:38-41). From then on, the ministry of the Lord’s followers flourished, and people were added to them daily (Acts 2:42-47).

    Here, in Acts 2:47, there is something very important mentioned; it says, “… And the Lord added to the church daily those who were being saved.” There are two important things to note in this statement about the growth of the first Church: firstly, it was the Lord who added people to His Church; no Apostle, no disciple of the Lord did this, and neither did any individual do it on his own. Whoever was added, was added by the Lord, not any man; this is in conformity to what the Lord had said in Matthew 16:18, that He would build His Church. Secondly, the Lord added only “those who were being saved.” This is like what John the Baptist did; he baptized only those who repented of their sins and refused to baptize those who wanted to get baptized as a ritual (Matthew 3:5-8). This fact, that only the Lord added to the Church, and added only the “Believers,” is reiterated and affirmed in Acts 5:12-14. On the basis of this Biblical fact, the present day Church elders and leaders should very seriously introspect and examine that the kind of people, and the reasons according to which they are making people “members” of the Church, and then because of those “members” the fingers that are pointed at the Church, for all this will they be able to stand before the Lord and give an account of what they did; will they be able to withstand His wrath?

    Though miracles, signs, wonders, healings, etc. were being done through the Apostles, but neither they, nor any other person could add anyone to the Lord’s Church. Also note that those who saw or experienced these miracles, signs, wonders, healings, etc. on themselves, have never been called “saved,” or “Believers,” or “followers of the Lord.” In other words, experiencing and receiving these supernatural phenomena, through and in the name of the Lord, is no indicator or criteria of being saved, or being accepted as a Believer, nor of being a part of the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ.

    The lessons we draw from this are that no man, be it the Lord’s Apostle or a disciple, had the authority to add anyone to the Lord’s Church. Even those desiring to be a part of the Church could not do it on their own. The Lord had said in Matthew 16:18 that He would build His Church, and In the Lord’s Church only those chosen and approved by the Lord find a place; no one else. Another important thing to note is that only those who were saved or those who were Believers (Acts 2:37; 5:14), i.e., those who had repented of their sins and personally had accepted the Lord Jesus as their savior and Lord (Acts 2:38), were added to the Church by the Lord Jesus. Moreover, the precondition of being saved, being a Believer, for being added to the Church by the Lord Jesus, clearly implies an adult taking a conscious, deliberate decision as an individual about his sins and his repentance. Moreover, as the construction and sense of the sentences in these verses make it apparent, this being saved or being a Believer and then being added to the Church by the Lord, was being done on an individual basis. 

    Therefore, those who have not taken the decision to repent, be saved and be a Believer, this automatically rules out their becoming a part of the Church of the Lord. In other words, an individual’s decision did not automatically carry over to the family, nor did the family elder’s or some family member’s decision automatically apply to the other members of the family. It was not that someone got saved, or became a Believer, and because of that his family too was considered followers of the Lord and were added to the Church by the Lord. Another important thing to take note of is that because a person has experienced miracles, signs, wonders, healings, etc. does not imply that he has been saved, has become a Believer, and is a part of the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ.

    So far we have seen that all this is happening, multitudes of both men and women are becoming Believers, are being saved, are being added to the Church by the Lord, yet, like in the gospels, the word “Christians” has not yet been used in the Scriptures. In other words, even the new Believers have not been called “Christians” as yet in God’s Word; but they have been given a peculiar name by the people. We will take it up from here in the next article.

    If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord, make your decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now to ensure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Voluntarily repent of your sins and ask the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily and sincerely surrender yourself to Him - this is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life.  Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.

    पिछले लेखों में हमने देखा है कि सुसमाचार से सम्बन्धित शिक्षाओं का एक अभिन्न अंग पश्चाताप या मन-फिराव से सम्बन्धित शिक्षाएँ हैं। पवित्रशास्त्र सिखाता है कि व्यक्ति के जीवन में सच्चा पश्चाताप उसके बदले हुए जीवन के द्वारा प्रमाणित होता है – साँसारिक जीवन से आत्मिक और भक्ति के जीवन की ओर मुड़ जाने से, ऐसे जीवन की ओर बदलाव से जो परमेश्वर को महिमा देता है। उनके लिए, जिन्होंने वास्तव में अपने पापों से पश्चाताप किया है और सच में अपने आप को प्रभु को समर्पित किया है कि उसकी और उसके वचन की आज्ञाकारिता में जीवन जीएँ, अर्थात वास्तव में नया-जन्म पाए हुए मसीही विश्वासियों के लिए, परमेश्वर ने कम से कम तीन तरह की आशीषें और प्रतिफल रख छोड़े हैं। ये हैं, पहली, परमेश्वर उनके साथ उनके प्रेमी पिता के समान रहता है; दूसरी, परमेश्वर, अपने वचन के द्वारा उनकी सहायता करता है कि वे सम्पूर्ण और परिपक्व बनें, मसीह के डील-डौल तक बढ़ें, और ऐसे लोग हो जाएँ जो मनुष्यों की चालाकियों और झूठी शिक्षाओं के द्वारा भरमाए, भटकाए न जाएँ – इन दोनों को हम देख चुके हैं। तीसरी आशीष और प्रतिफल है कि परमेश्वर उन्हें अपने पुत्र, प्रभु यीशु मसीह की समानता में परिवर्तित करता है। इसके बारे में हम आज कुछ बातों को देखेंगे।

    हम उत्पत्ति 1:26-27 से देखते हैं कि परमेश्वर ने मनुष्य को अपने ही स्वरूप में सृजा है। फिर, पवित्र शास्त्र विभिन्न स्थानों पर दिखाता है कि परमेश्वर ने सब कुछ परमेश्वर पुत्र के द्वारा और पुत्र के लिए रचा है (यूहन्ना 1:3; रोमियों 11:36; कुलुस्सियों 1:16); और अन्ततः, सब कुछ, वह चाहे स्वर्ग में हो अथवा पृथ्वी पर, वह प्रभु यीशु में एकत्र हो जाएगा (इफिसियों 1:10)। पहले पाप, अर्थात परमेश्वर की अनाज्ञाकारिता ने मनुष्यों के साथ सृष्टि की भी आत्मिक दशा और सुन्दरता को बिगाड़ दिया। उसी समय से सारी सृष्टि पाप के प्रभाव से छुड़ाए जाने और अपनी पूर्व निष्पाप दशा में बहाल किये जाने की प्रतीक्षा कर रही है (रोमियों 8:19-21)। लेकिन जिन्होंने अपने पापों से पश्चाताप किया है, सुसमाचार में विश्वास किया है, अर्थात नया-जन्म पाए हुए मसीही विश्वासियों के लिए, उनके मसीह में विश्वास में आने और उद्धार पाने के पल से ही वे परमेश्वर की सन्तान बन जाते हैं (यूहन्ना 1:12-13)। उसी पल से उनकी बहाली भी आरम्भ हो जाती है, वे अपने सृष्टिकर्ता के स्वरूप के अनुसार नए होने लग जाते हैं (कुलुस्सियों 3:10), जिस से कि वे मसीह के साथ संगी वारिस बन जाएँ (रोमियों 8:16-17)। ऐसा होने के लिए दो महत्वपूर्ण बातें होना आवश्यक है; पहली, जैसा कि रोमियों 8:17 में लिखा है “और यदि सन्तान हैं, तो वारिस भी, वरन परमेश्वर के वारिस और मसीह के संगी वारिस हैं, जब कि हम उसके साथ दुख उठाएं कि उसके साथ महिमा भी पाएं” मसीह के साथ संगी वारिस बनने के लिए, विश्वासियों को मसीह के साथ दुःख भी उठाना होगा, ताकि वे उसके साथ महिमा पा सकें। जैसा मसीह के लिए था (फिलिप्पियों 2:5-10), उसी तरह से विश्वासियों के लिए भी महिमा पाने का मार्ग दुःख उठाने से होकर जाता है (फिलिप्पियों 1:29; 2 तीमुथियुस 3:12)। दूसरी बात, यद्यपि मसीही विश्वासियों में निवास करने वाला पवित्र आत्मा, इस प्रक्रिया में से होकर निकलने के लिए उनकी सहायता और मार्गदर्शन करता है; किन्तु प्रभावी होने के लिए, पवित्र आत्मा के अधीनता में होकर विश्वासी का सक्रिय होकर कार्य करना भी अनिवार्य है; अर्थात उसे पवित्र आत्मा के निर्देशों के अनुसार करते चले जाना है (रोमियों 8:9, 13,14)।

    पवित्र आत्मा, अंश-अंश कर के विश्वासियों को प्रभु के रूप में परिवर्तित करता जाता है (2 कुरिन्थियों 3:18)। जैसा कि हमने ऊपर देखा है, परिवर्तन की यह प्रक्रिया उद्धार पाने के पल से ही आरम्भ हो जाती है, लेकिन इसकी प्रगति इस में विश्वासी के सक्रिय भाग लेने पर निर्भर होती है। यदि वह प्रभु के समान दुःख उठाने के लिए तैयार नहीं है, और पवित्र आत्मा के मार्गदर्शन एवं निर्देशों का पालन नहीं करता है, तो उसकी प्रगति भी उसी अनुपात में धीमी और देर से होने वाली होगी। अधिकाँश विश्वासियों की, दुःख उठाने की बात सुनकर स्वाभाविक प्रतिक्रिया होती है पीछे हट जाना, या आगे बढ़ने में संकोच करना, क्योंकि उन में उसके लिए बहुत भय होता है, और वे अपने जीवनों में उसके महत्व और आवश्यकता को जानते नहीं हैं – कि यह उनके परिपक्व होने की प्रक्रिया का एक भाग है। परमेश्वर ने कोई असीम, अनियंत्रित, असंयत, अव्यवस्थित दुःख अपने बच्चों के लिए नहीं रखे हैं। जैसा कि हम अय्यूब के उदाहरण से देखते हैं, शैतान परमेश्वर के बच्चों को केवल परमेश्वर द्वारा निर्धारित सीमा के अन्दर ही छू सकता है (अय्यूब 1:9-12; 2:6)। हमारा सृष्टिकर्ता होने के नाते, परमेश्वर जानता है कि हम कितना सह सकते हैं, और कभी भी उस सीमा तक भी हमें परीक्षा में नहीं पड़ने देता है, वरन उसके साथ ही निकासी का मार्ग भी देता है (1 कुरिन्थियों 10:13)। दुःख उठाने के द्वारा विश्वासी पाप से छूट जाते हैं (1 पतरस 4:1-12), और दुःख उठाना इस बात का प्रमाण है कि हम परमेश्वर के साथ और उसकी गवाही के लिए सही मार्ग पर अग्रसर हैं (1 पतरस 4:12-19), और ये क्लेश एक बहुत बड़ा अनन्तकालीन प्रतिफल भी तैयार कर रहे हैं (2 कुरिन्थियों 4:16-18)। जो लोग परमेश्वर से प्रेम करते हैं, उसके आज्ञाकारी रहते हैं, उनके लिए परमेश्वर सभी बातों में से कुछ भला ही उत्पन्न कर देता है (रोमियों 8:28; यिर्मयाह 29:11)। इसलिए मसीही विश्वासियों को अपने प्रभु और अपने विश्वास के लिए दुःख उठाने से न तो डरना चाहिए और न ही पीछे हटना चाहिए, वरन उन्हें प्रभु की समानता में ढलने के एक अवसर के समान स्वीकार करना चाहिए, जहाँ, दुःख उठाने के द्वारा परमेश्वर विश्वासी जन के अनावश्यक और व्यर्थ भागों को काटता और छाँटता है (यूहन्ना 15:2), और उसे उसके उद्धारकर्ता प्रभु की समानता में परिवर्तित करता है।

    बहुधा मसीही विश्वासियों की, उनके विश्वास के लिए, सँसार के लोगों के द्वारा उनमें तथा अन्य मसीही विश्वासियों में विद्यमान गलतियों और अपूर्णताओं को दिखाते हुए, आलोचना की जाती है, उन्हें ठट्ठों में उड़ाया जाता है। यह पद, 2 कुरिन्थियों 3:18, इस आलोचना का भी एक उत्तर उपलब्ध करवाता है। जैसा इसमें स्पष्ट लिखा है, प्रभु के रूप में होने वाला परिवर्तन, पवित्र आत्मा के द्वारा अंश-अंश करके किया जाता है, अर्थात, उद्धार पाने के समय पर यह प्रक्रिया पूरी नहीं हुई, केवल आरम्भ हुई है। साथ ही यह एक निरन्तर ज़ारी रहने वाली प्रक्रिया है “बदलते जाते हैं;” और विश्वासी के जीवन भर यह प्रक्रिया ज़ारी रहेगी – कमियाँ और अपूर्णताओं की धीरे-धीरे छँटाई होती चली जाएगी, और सिद्धता बढ़ती और प्रकट होती चली जाएगी। इसलिए, किसी भी समय पर, प्रत्येक विश्वासी के जीवन में, कमियों, गलतियों और असिद्धताओं का, साँसारिक और आत्मिक बातों का, एक मिश्रण पाया जाएगा। बाइबल में यह कहीं नहीं लिखा है कि नया-जन्म पाते ही विश्वासी पूर्णतः सिद्ध हो जाता है। प्रत्येक मसीही विश्वासी का एक आत्मिक ‘शिशु’ के समान नया-जन्म होता है, और फिर वह धीरे-धीरे आत्मिक रीति से परिपक्व वयस्क, और परमेश्वर के लिए उपयोगी जन बनता। बाइबल में उल्लेखित परमेश्वर के लोगों में से कोई भी, कभी भी, सिद्ध नहीं था; किन्तु उनकी गलतियों और आत्मिक कमियों के बावजूद परमेश्वर ने उन्हें उपयोग किया, उनकी प्रशन्सा की, अपने वचन में उन्हें ऊंचे पर उठाया, सिर्फ इसलिए क्योंकि वे हर परिस्थिति में परमेश्वर के लिए उपलब्ध, उसके आज्ञाकारी, और उसके प्रति प्रतिबद्ध, उसके लिए दुःख उठाने के लिए तैयार, बने रहे।

    अगले लेख में हम पश्चाताप से सम्बन्धित शिक्षाओं से हटकर सुसमाचार पर विश्वास करने से सम्बन्धित शिक्षाओं के बारे में सीखना आरम्भ करेंगे।

    In the previous articles we have seen that an integral part of Biblical teachings related to the gospel, are teachings about repentance. Scripture teaches that true repentance in a person’s life is evidenced through his changed life – turning from a worldly and sinful life to a godly and spiritual life, a life that glorifies God. For those who have sincerely repented of their sins and have really submitted themselves to the Lord fully, to live in obedience to Him and His Word, i.e., for the truly Born-Again Christian Believers, God has prepared and kept at least three blessings and rewards. These are, firstly, God lives with them as a loving Father; secondly, God helps them to become complete and mature through His Word, to grow up to the stature of Christ and become people who will not be deceived by the trickeries of and false teachings of men – these two we have considered. The third blessing and reward is God transforming them into the likeness of His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ. We will consider some things about this today.

    We see from Genesis 1:26-27, that God created man in His own image. Then, various other Scriptures show that God created everything through and for God the Son (John 1:3; Romans 11:36; Colossians 1:16); and eventually all things, in heaven or on earth, will be gathered together in the Lord Jesus (Ephesians 1:10). The first sin, disobedience of God’s command marred the spiritual state and the beauty of the creation, including that of mankind. Since then, the whole creation is awaiting the deliverance from the effects of sin; to be restored to its original sinless state (Romans 8:19-21). But for those who have repented of their sins, believed in the gospel, i.e., the Born-Again Christian Believers, from the moment of their salvation by coming to faith in the Lord Jesus, they become the children of God (John 1:12-13). From that moment onwards, their restoration, their being renewed according to the image of their creator (Colossians 3:10) begins, so that they become joint heirs with Christ (Romans 8:16-17), into whose image they are being conformed (Romans 8:29). There are two important pre-conditions associated with this; firstly, as it says in Romans 8:17 “and if children, then heirs--heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together.” A very important part of becoming joint heirs with Christ, is that the Believers will have to suffer with Christ, so that they are also glorified with Him. As it was for Christ (Philippians 2:5-10), for the Believers too, the path to being glorified is through sufferings (Philippians 1:29; 2 Timothy 3:12). Secondly, although the Holy Spirit residing in the Believers helps and guides them in this process; but for it to be effective, an active participation of the Believer under the guidance of the Holy Spirit must be present; he must live and do according to the promptings of the Holy Spirit (Romans 8:9, 13, 14).

    The Holy Spirit changes the Believers into the image of the Lord from glory to glory, i.e., bit by bit, (2 Corinthians 3:18). As we have seen above, this process of transformation begins from the moment of salvation, but its progress depends upon the active participation of the Believer. If he is not willing to go through the sufferings like the Lord Jesus did, and is not obedient to the guidance of the Holy Spirit, then his progress in the transformation will be proportionately slowed down and delayed. Most Believers, reflexly, draw back or, hesitate in moving ahead, at the mention of sufferings, because they have an excessive fear of it, and neither do they know about its importance and necessity in their lives – it is a part of their maturation process. God has not ordained an unlimited, uncontrolled, unmoderated, random sufferings for His children. As we see from the example of Job, Satan can touch the children of God only to the extent that God permits (Job 1:9-12; 2:6). As our creator, our Lord God knows how much we can bear, and will never allow anything even up to that limit, let alone beyond it; and along with the temptations, will also provide a way out (1 Corinthians 10:13). Through sufferings the Believers cease from sin (1 Peter 4:1-2), sufferings confirm being on the right path with God and witness about God (1 Peter 4:12-19), and the sufferings work a great eternal reward for them (2 Corinthians 4:16-18). For those who love God, are obedient to Him, God works out something good for them through everything (Romans 8:28; Jeremiah 29:11). Therefore, the Christian Believers should not fear and draw back from suffering for their Lord and faith in Him, but take it as an opportunity to be conformed to His image, where, through the suffering God prunes and trims away the unnecessary and vain portions of the Believer (John 15:2) and transforms him into the likeness of his savior Lord.

    Often, the Christian Believers are criticized and mocked for their faith by the people of the world, who point out imperfections and errors in their lives, as well as the lives of other Believers. The verse, 2 Corinthians 3:18, also provides an answer to such criticism. As is clearly stated, the transformation into the image of the Lord is happening glory to glory, i.e., bit by bit through the Holy Spirit; in other words, at the moment of their coming to faith and salvation this process of transformation has only been initiated, it has not been completed. Moreover, it is an on-going, continual process, the Believers are “being transformed;” and will continue throughout the life-span of the Believer – imperfections will gradually be trimmed off, and perfections will continually keep manifesting. Therefore, at any given moment of time, at every stage of life, in every Believer, there will be both, perfections as well as imperfections, worldly as well as spiritual things. Nowhere does the Bible say that the Believer becomes perfect from the moment of being Born-Again. Every Christian Believer is Born-Again as a spiritual ‘babe,’ and gradually matures into spiritually grown-up ‘adult’ useful and effective for the Lord. None of the people of God in the Bible were ever perfect; but God used them, praised them, exalted them in His eternal Word, despite their spiritual faults and errors, simply because in all circumstances they remained available to Him, obedient and committed to Him, willing to suffer for Him.

    In the next article from the teachings about repentance, we will move on to learning some teachings about believing in the gospel.

Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Voluntarily repent of your sins and ask the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily and sincerely surrender yourself to Him - this is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life.  Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.

हमने पिछले लेख में देखा था कि पवित्र आत्मा के वरदानों के भण्डारी होने के नाते, मसीही विश्वासियों को हमेशा यह ध्यान में रखना चाहिए कि वास्तव में नया-जन्म पाए हुए सभी मसीही विश्वासी परमेश्वर की सन्तान भी हैं और परमेश्वर के परिवार के सदस्य भी हैं। किन्तु, जैसा कि प्रभु यीशु ने अच्छे और जंगली बीजों के दृष्टांत में कहा है (मत्ती 13:24-30), शैतान भी अपने लोगों को कलीसियाओं और मण्डलियों में घुसा देता है। वे अपने आप को झूठे प्रेरितों और धार्मिकता के प्रचारकों के समान प्रस्तुत करते हैं (2 कुरिन्थियों 11:13-15), परमेश्वर के वचन से प्रचार करने में सक्रिय भाग लेते हैं, किन्तु बड़ी चालाकी से वे कलीसिया में गलत शिक्षाएँ और झूठे सिद्धान्त भी घुसा देते हैं और परमेश्वर के लोगों को सही मार्ग से भरमा-भटका देते हैं। इसलिए यह बहुत आवश्यक है कि किसी को भी वचन की सेवकाई की ज़िम्मेदारी देने से पहले न केवल बहुत सावधानी से उस के बारे में बारीकी से जाँच-परख कर ली जाए, और तब ही कलीसिया में, कलीसिया के लोगों के मध्य प्रचार करने और शिक्षा देने का अवसर दिया जाए, बल्कि प्रत्येक प्रचारक और उसकी शिक्षाओं को हमेशा परखते रहना है (1 कुरिन्थियों 14:29), चाहे उसकी प्रतिष्ठा कुछ भी क्यों न हो। आज हम इस विषय पर रोमियों 12:4-5 से आगे सीखना ज़ारी रखेंगे।

जो वास्तव में प्रभु परमेश्वर के परिवार का सदस्य है, वह अपने परिवार के लोगों के साथ मेल-मिलाप बनाए रखेगा, उनकी भलाई की सोचेगा (गलातियों 6:10; 1 तिमुथियुस 5:8), उनके हित में होकर कार्य करेगा; तथा परमेश्वर के वचन के निर्देश के अनुसार (1 कुरिन्थियों 12:7), अपने आत्मिक वरदानों को अपनी व्यक्तिगत प्रशंसा और भलाई के लिए नहीं, वरन सभी की भलाई के लिए उपयोग करेगा। वह इस एहसास के साथ जीता और कार्य करता है कि परमेश्वर के परिवार में, प्रभु की मण्डली - उसकी देह (इफिसियों 5:25-30) में, जिस मण्डली के साथ प्रभु ने उसे रखा और जोड़ा है, वहाँ पर वह एक आवश्यक, उपयोगी, और अभिन्न अंग है; प्रभु के लिए उसकी उपयोगिता, उसकी आशीष और उन्नति वहीं से है। इसलिए किसी भी मसीही विश्वासी का कैसा भी अनुचित जीवन, व्यवहार, और कार्य, न केवल उसके व्यक्तिगत जीवन और गवाही पर दुष्प्रभाव लाता है, वरन परमेश्वर के पूरे परिवार, प्रभु की पूरी मण्डली पर दुष्प्रभाव लाता है। वह उन सभी के लिए दुःख और समस्याओं का कारण होता है, और उनकी सेवकाई के कार्यों को सुचारु रीति से करने में मण्डली के लोगों के लिये बाधा बनता है।

रोमियों 12:4 यह बिल्कुल स्पष्ट बता रहा है कि जैसे देह के सभी अंगों का एक ही, या समान ही कार्य नहीं होता है, वैसे ही प्रत्येक मसीही विश्वासी की भी मण्डली में अपनी-अपनी, औरों से भिन्न सेवकाई है, भिन्न दायित्व हैं, जो उनके लिए परमेश्वर द्वारा निर्धारित किए गए हैं। इसलिए सभी को अपनी-अपनी सेवकाई, अपने-अपने दायित्वों का सही रीति से निर्वाह करना है। किसी दूसरे की सेवकाई या दायित्वों को लेकर ईर्ष्या नहीं करनी है, उसकी सेवकाई को अपने लिए लेने और करने के प्रयास नहीं करने हैं। और न ही अपनी सेवकाई के कारण अपने आप को उच्च या महान समझने, घमण्ड करने की प्रवृत्ति रखनी है। क्योंकि, जैसा हम पहले देख चुके हैं, परमेश्वर की दृष्टि में सभी सेवकाइयाँ और वरदान समान स्तर और महत्व के हैं। देह के सभी अंग अपने-अपने स्थान और कार्य के लिए महत्वपूर्ण हैं; कोई भी अंग अथवा उसका कार्य देह के लिए कम या अधिक महत्वपूर्ण नहीं है, सभी का समान महत्व और उपयोग है। जैसे किसी एक अंग के न होने के कारण, या सुचारु रीति से कार्य न करने के कारण सारी देह अपनी रचना में अपूर्ण हो जाती है, या कार्य में अधूरी, या अथवा कार्य के लिए अक्षम हो जाती है, वैसे ही किसी भी मसीही विश्वासी के मण्डली से अनुपस्थित होने, मण्डली में अपना काम न करने, या मण्डली में ठीक से कार्य न करने के कारण कलीसिया या मण्डली की बढ़ोतरी और काम में, तथा उसके अपने जीवन में आत्मिक उन्नति नहीं होने पाती है। इसीलिए रोमियों 12:5 मसीही विश्वासियों को न केवल प्रभु की देह का अंग, वरन एक-दूसरे का अंग भी बताता है, जो मण्डली के लिए भी तथा एक-दूसरे के लिए भी सहायक और उपयोगी हों। उनकी आवश्यकता न केवल कलीसिया के कामों के लिए बल्कि एक दूसरे की बढ़ोतरी के लिए भी आवश्यक है। क्योंकि किसी भी कलीसिया में एक गलत वातावरण उसके सभी सदस्यों के कार्य, रवैये, और व्यवहार पर बुरा प्रभाव डालेगा, इसलिए सभी सदस्यों को एक-दूसरे के सहायक और सह-कर्मी होना चाहिए।

यदि आप एक मसीही विश्वासी हैं तो अपनी सेवकाई को ठीक से, प्रभु की इच्छानुसार, तथा अपने आत्मिक वरदानों का उपयुक्त उपयोग मण्डली की भलाई और उन्नति के लिए कर पाने के लिए, आपके लिए यह आवश्यक है कि अपने आप को, औरों के समान ही, परमेश्वर के परिवार का तथा प्रभु की देह, उसकी मण्डली का एक अभिन्न एवं उपयोगी अंग समझ कर कार्य करें। न अपने आप को, अपनी सेवकाई को, अपने वरदान को किसी से गौण या छोटा अथवा कम उपयोगी समझें; और न ही किसी प्रकार से विशिष्ट और उच्च होने की भावना अपने में उत्पन्न होने दें। अन्यथा शैतान आपको हीन भावना अथवा घमण्ड से ग्रसित करके, अपने या मण्डली के, या मण्डली के किसी सदस्य के विरुद्ध किसी-न-किसी पाप में उलझा और फंसा देगा, प्रभु के लिए आपके कार्य और उपयोगिता की हानि करवा देगा। प्रभु परमेश्वर ने जो सेवकाई और वरदान आपको दिया है, उसे ही प्रभु की महिमा के लिए योग्य रीति से प्रयोग करें। शैतान व्यक्ति को किसी अन्य आकर्षक या प्रतिष्ठित सेवकाई और वरदान के लालच में फँसाकर उसे प्रभु द्वारा उसके लिए तय की हुई मण्डली तथा उस मण्डली में निर्धारित की हुई उसकी सेवकाई और आशीष से दूर ले जा सकता है। कुछ समय तक वह प्रतिष्ठा और सेवकाई अच्छे से चल भी सकती है, किन्तु अन्ततः उसके दुष्प्रभाव उस विश्वासी के अपने तथा उसके पारिवारिक जीवन में हानि ही लेकर आएँगे। जबकि प्रभु द्वारा निर्धारित स्थान, स्तर, और सेवकाई में बने रहने, अपनी इच्छा के अनुसार नहीं बल्कि प्रभु द्वारा उसके लिए तय की गई ज़िम्मेदारी का ही सुचारु रीति से निर्वाह करने द्वारा ही विश्वासी आशीषों और उन्नति के पात्र होंगे। 

अगले लेख में हम इस विषय को ज़ारी रखते हुए रोमियों 12:6-8 को देखेंगे। 

यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। स्वेच्छा से अपने पापों के लिये पश्चाताप करके और प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु, मैं अपने पापों के लिए पश्चातापी हूँ, उनके लिए आप से क्षमा माँगता हूँ। मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मुझे और मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

Utilizing the Gifts of the Holy Spirit – 5

 

We have seen in the previous article that as stewards of the gifts of the Holy Spirit, Christian Believers should also always bear in mind that the truly Born-Again Believers are all children of God, and are also members of God’s family. But, as the Lord Jesus has said in His parable of the tares and good seed (Matthew 13:24-30), Satan also infiltrates his people into the Church and Assemblies. They present themselves as false apostles and ministers of righteousness (2 Corinthians 11:13-15). They take active part in preaching God’s Word, but very subtly, also introduce false teachings and wrong doctrines into the Church to mislead God’s people away from the right way. Therefore, not only is it very necessary to be very circumspect in giving people the ministry of God’s Word, the opportunity to preach and teach amongst the Church congregation; but to also keep evaluating every preacher and his teachings (1 Corinthians 14:29), no matter what his reputation may be. Today we will carry on learning about this from Romans 12:4-5.

He who truly is a member of God’s family, will stay in fellowship and unity with the other members of his spiritual family, will think about their good (Galatians 6:10; 1 Timothy 5:8), and will do things for their benefit. In accordance with the instructions of God’s Word, he will use his Spiritual gifts and ministry not for himself and his being glorified, but for the benefit and edification of others (1 Corinthians 12:7). Such a person lives and works with the realization that in the family of God, in the Church of the Lord i.e., the body of Christ (Ephesians 5:25-30), in the Church or Assembly where God has placed him, joined him, there he is a necessary, useful, and integral part; he is useful for the Lord there, his blessings and growth are from there. Therefore, any kind of inappropriate living, behavior, and deeds of any Christian Believer, bring a harmful effect not only on his own life and witness but on the whole family of God, the Church. And he becomes a cause for pain and problems for everybody else; he adversely affects the proper work and ministry of the others in the congregation.

Romans 12:4 is very clearly saying that just as in a body every part and organ has its own place and work, similarly in the Christian Assembly or Church, every member has his own role and ministry, which is different from the work, ministry and role of others, that have been assigned to them by God. Therefore, everyone should carry out his God assigned role and ministry properly and worthily. No one should covet another’s ministry or feel envious or jealous because of another’s ministry. Neither should anyone feel proud or superior because of the ministry given by God to him. Since as we have seen earlier, all Spiritual gifts and ministries are of the same importance in God’s eyes. All parts of the body are important and essential in the place they are placed, and the work they have to do; no part of the body or its function is of any lesser importance for the body, all are equally necessary and important. Just as due to the absence, non-functioning, or improper functioning of any one part, the functioning of the whole body is adversely affected, similarly the absence, non-functioning, or improper functioning of any Christian Believer, adversely affects the work and growth of the local Church or Assembly, and his own spiritual growth is adversely affected as well. For this reason, Romans 12:5 not only calls the Christian Believers as members of the body of the Lord, but also members of each other, who are required not only for the functioning of the Church, but also of each other. Since a wrong atmosphere in any Church will hamper the proper functioning and attitude of its members, therefore the members should be helpers and of service for each other.

If you are a Christian Believer, then for you to carry out your ministry properly and worthily, according to the will of God; and to be able to use your ministry and gifts for the benefit and edification of the Church, it is necessary for you to consider yourself a similar member of God’s family, a necessary and integral part of the Assembly or the Church, just as the others are. You should neither consider yourself, your ministry, and your Spiritual gift as small or of lesser importance than any other’s; nor should you think of yourself, your ministry, and your Spiritual gift as superior and of more importance than any other. If you allow any of these feelings to settle in you, then Satan will soon make you fall in either a feeling of inferiority or in pride of superiority, entrap you in some sin or the other, obstruct your work and ministry for the Lord. Use whatever ministry and Spiritual gift God has given to you for the glory of God, the propagation of the gospel, and edification of the Church. Then you too will be blessed and benefitted, as will the others be through your ministry and gifts. Satan may entice a Believer away from his God assigned status and ministry through some attractive and seemingly prestigious status and ministry somewhere else, and deprive him of his blessings. It may be that for some time, in that other location that status and ministry might seem to be working well for him, but eventually the harmful effects that come upon his own and his family life will bring a great loss for him. But by staying on in the place, status, and ministry God has assigned for him and serving well in the ministry that God wants him to do, instead of what he himself wants, the Believer will receive rich blessings and growth.
