पिछले लेख में हमने देखा था कि संसार भर में मसीही विश्वास और बाइबल के विरुद्ध, पिछले 2000 वर्षों से चले आ रहे घोर आधिकारिक विरोध, दमन, और नष्ट करने के प्रयासों के बावजूद, मसीही विश्वास और बाइबल केवल बचे ही नहीं रहे हैं, बल्कि सारे संसार में बढ़ते और फैलते ही चले गए हैं। बाइबल के समान संसार भर में अरबों की सँख्या में प्रकाशित और वितरित होने वाली कोई अन्य पुस्तक नहीं है, जिसकी माँग आज भी सारे संसार में न केवल बनी हुई है, वरन् बढ़ती ही जा रही है। साथ ही हमने यह भी देखा था कि बाइबल ने संसार भर में मानव जीवन, समाज और सभ्यताओं, कला, और साहित्य पर अनोखी और अमिट छाप छोड़ी है, अद्भुत और अविश्वसनीय रीति से जीवनों तथा विश्व-भर के समाजों की बातों को परिवर्तित किया है। आज हम इसी विषय पर कुछ और बातों को देखेंगे।
प्रभु यीशु मसीह के प्रभाव के बारे में कहा गया है, "वे संसार के इतिहास के महानतम व्यक्ति हैं। उन्होंने कोई सेवक नहीं रखे, लेकिन लोगों ने उन्हें 'स्वामी' कहकर संबोधित किया। उनके पास कोई शैक्षिक योग्यता नहीं थी, किन्तु उनके समय के विद्वानों, धर्म-गुरुओं, और आम लोगों ने उन्हें 'हे गुरु' कहा। उनके पास कोई औषधि नहीं थी, किन्तु वे इतिहास के सबसे महान चंगाई देने वाले हुए। उनकी कोई सेना नहीं थी, किन्तु राजा उनसे थर्राते थे। उन्होंने कोई सैनिक अभियान अथवा युद्ध नहीं लड़े, फिर भी वे सारे विश्व पर जयवंत हैं। उन्होंने कोई पाप, कोई अपराध नहीं किया, फिर भी उन्हें क्रूस पर चढ़ाकर मार डाल गया। उन्हें कब्र में गाड़ कर उसे भारी पत्थर से मुहरबंद कर दिया गया और सैनिकों का पहरा बैठा दिया गया, किन्तु वे तीसरे दिन जीवित होकर कब्र से बाहर आ गए और आज भी जीवित हैं, तथा हर उस हृदय में रहते हैं जो उन्हें स्वेच्छा से समर्पित होकर आमंत्रित करता है।"
बाइबल में दी गई परमेश्वर की दस आज्ञाएँ अपने आप में अनुपम और अनूठी हैं। पुराने नियम में निर्गमन 20:1-17 में दी गई इन ये दस आज्ञाएँ परमेश्वर का स्वरूप और चरित्र, मनुष्य और परमेश्वर के संबंध, तथा मनुष्य के साथ मनुष्य के पारिवारिक एवं सामाजिक संबंधों के बारे में हैं। और अद्भुत, विलक्षण बात यह है कि संसार के इतिहास में, किसी भी देश के किसी भी संविधान में, वह चाहे कितना भी बड़ा और विस्तृत क्यों न हो, ऐसी कोई बात नहीं है, जो इन दस आज्ञाओं की परिधि में न पाई जाती हो, या जिसे इन दस आज्ञाओं के अन्तर्गत न देखा और समझा जा सकता हो।
बाइबल की शिक्षाओं ने सभ्यताओं और समाजों के व्यवहारों को बदल डाला है - हजारों वर्ष पुरानी और प्राचीनतम सभ्यताओं की भी अनेकों ऐसी बातों को सुधार दिया है, जिन्हें वे सभ्यताएं और उनके लोग स्वयं नहीं पहचान और सुधार पाए। संसार भर में जहाँ-जहाँ भी मसीही विश्वास और बाइबल के प्रचारक गए हैं, वहाँ उनके साथ समाज के सभी लोगों के लिए समान अधिकार, सभी लोगों को हर प्रकार की शिक्षा समानता से उपलब्ध करवाने के लिए शिक्षा-संस्थान और विद्यालय, सभी को समाज में आदर का स्थान तथा समाज सुधार, सभी के लिए चिकित्सा सुविधाएं, महिलाओं का उत्थान आदि भी साथ ही होता चला गया है।
परमेश्वर के इसी वचन, बाइबल, की शिक्षाओं के आधार पर विश्व भर से अनेकों सामाजिक बुराइयों और कुरीतियों का नाश तथा अन्तर्राष्ट्रीय स्तर पर सकारात्मक बातों का स्थापन सम्भव हुआ। जैसे कि, दास प्रथा का विरोध और उन्मूलन हुआ; रंग-भेद की नीतियों को खारिज और अन्त किया गया; संसार भर में स्त्रियों के महत्व और भूमिका को पहचाना गया और उन्हें शोषण तथा दमन से मुक्त करवाया गया, पुरुषों के समान अधिकार दिए गए; बाल-विवाह समाप्त किया गया; जाति-वाद और सामाजिक ऊँच-नीच को अनुचित मानते हुए सभी मनुष्यों को समान समझा और माना गया, चाहे उन का जन्म-स्थान, जाति, धर्म, आर्थिक स्थिति, शैक्षिक स्थिति, रंग, और लिंग आदि कुछ भी हो - ऐसी बातों के आधार पर कोई भेद-भाव नहीं रखा जा सकता है और संसार के सभी लोगों को एक समान अधिकार प्रदान किए गये; नर-भक्षी प्रथाएं समाप्त हुई हैं, शिक्षा को केवल कुछ विशेष लोगों तक ही सीमित रखने को बुराई के रूप में पहचाना तथा मिटाया गया है और सभी का अधिकार माना गया है, इत्यादि। इन बातों को करने के लिए संविधान बनाए अथवा बदले गए हैं या संशोधित किए गए हैं।
यद्यपि हमने बाइबल के प्रभावों तथा परिवर्तन लाने की योग्यता के बारे में बहुत संक्षिप्त में देखा है, परन्तु जितना भी देखा है, वह सभी के द्वारा विचार करने के लिये एक महत्वपूर्ण प्रश्न को सामने रखता है - क्या यह सब किसी मनुष्य की कल्पना या विचारों के द्वारा लिखी गई पुस्तक की बातों से संभव है? यह प्रश्न और भी गंभीर तब हो जाता है, जब यह तथ्य भी ध्यान में रखा जाए कि संसार भर में, जहाँ-जहाँ भी बाइबल के प्रभाव से ये परिवर्तन और सुधार आए, वहाँ पर उन लोगों के दार्शनिकों, विचारकों, धार्मिक अगुवों आदि के द्वारा लिखे गए ग्रन्थ पहले से मौजूद थे, उपयोग में किये जा रहे थे; किन्तु साथ ही ये सामाजिक कुरीतियाँ भी स्थापित थीं और खुलकर निभाई जा रहीं थीं। आज भी, मानवीय विचारों और कल्पनाओं पर आधारित अनेकों पुस्तकें उपलब्ध हैं, परन्तु क्या कभी किसी पुस्तक ने ऐसे व्यापक और विश्व-स्तर के परिवर्तन किये हैं, जैसे बाइबल द्वारा हुए हैं? वास्तविकता तो यह कि बाइबल की बातों और शिक्षाओं ने ही सारे संसार में मानवीय विचारों और कल्पनाओं पर आधारित सामाजिक कुरीतियों को सुधार कर लोगों के जीवनों को एक नई दिशा, एक नया मार्गदर्शन प्रदान किया है।
यही बाइबल, आज आप से अपने व्यक्तिगत जीवन के बारे में विचार करने के लिए भी आग्रह करती है, क्योंकि बाइबल यह भी बताती है एक दिन जगत का अन्त और न्याय होगा, तथा सारे संसार के सभी मनुष्यों को प्रभु यीशु को अपने जीवन का हिसाब देना होगा (प्रेरितों 17:30-31; 2 कुरिन्थियों 5:10), अपने किये के अनुसार प्रतिफल और परिणाम लेने होंगे। उस न्याय और हिसाब देने की तैयारी का स्थान और समय अब, पृथ्वी का जीवन है। जो और जैसे निर्णय प्रत्येक मनुष्य व्यक्तिगत रीति से अपने पृथ्वी के जीवन में लेगा, वही निर्णय, ठीक वैसे ही उसके अनन्त जीवन पर लागू होंगे और रहेंगे; फिर कोई सुधार या परिवर्तन नहीं होगा।
इसलिये, यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु, मैं अपने पापों के लिए पश्चातापी हूँ, उनके लिए आप से क्षमा माँगता हूँ। मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मुझे और मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

Unique in its Effects on Life, Literature, Arts, Culture and Civilizations Part - 2
In the previous article we had seen that despite the severe official opposition, persecution, and all-out attempts to eliminate them for the past 2000 years, the Christian Faith and the Bible have continued to not just survive but have grown and spread all over the world. There has been no other book anywhere in the world that has been published and distributed as the Bible has been - running into billions, and its demand is not only sustained but is continually increasing. We had also seen that the Bible has left a permanent indelible impact on human life, culture and civilizations, arts, and literature all over the world. It has changed lives and behavior world-wide in an astounding and unbelievable manner. Today, we will continue with this topic and see some more things on this.
It has been said about the Lord Jesus Christ's influence that, “He is the greatest man in the history of the world. He did not have any servants, but people addressed him as 'Master'. He had no educational qualifications, but during His time the scholars, religious leaders, and common people called him 'Rabbi or Teacher'. He did not have any medicine, but he became the greatest healer in world history. He had no army, but the Kings used to tremble at His name. He never conducted any military campaign, nor did He ever fight any war, yet He is victorious over the whole world. He committed no sin, no crime, yet He was crucified and killed as a criminal. He was buried in a tomb, which was closed with a heavy stone and sealed; the soldiers were put on guard; but on the third day He arose from the dead and came out of the grave alive. And He is still alive today, living in every heart that invites him voluntarily, by surrendering to His Lordship."
The Ten Commandments of God given in the Bible are unique and a class apart in themselves. These Ten Commandments in the Old Testament, given in Exodus 20:1-17, contain God's commandments regarding the nature and character of God, the relationship between man and God, man's relationship to his family, and man’s social relationship with others. And the wonderful thing is that throughout world history, no constitution of any country in the world, however large or voluminous it may be, has anything that is not found and covered in the scope of these Ten Commandments.
The teachings of the Bible have changed the behavior of civilizations and societies - correcting the unjust and inappropriate things being practiced for thousands of years amongst even the oldest civilizations; things which those civilizations and their people themselves could not recognize and correct. All around the world, wherever the preachers of the message of the Bible and the Christian Faith have gone, their message has simultaneously brought about equal rights for all, equal educational opportunities for all the people of the society, through educational institutions and schools that provide all varieties of education to all the people; by bringing about social reforms and giving a place of respect to all in the society; by creating medical facilities for all; by bringing about upliftment of women etc.
Based on the teachings of the Bible, the social evils and unfair practices prevailing in many places around the world have been brought to an end and replaced by positive and welfare practices. Some examples are, the opposition and elimination of slavery; elimination of apartheid and of discrimination based on skin-color; the role and importance of women in society has been understood and the oppression of women and their abuse has been stopped, and they have been given equal rights; child-marriages have been stopped; the mutual discrimination and considering of human beings of lower or higher status on the basis of caste or birth has been considered unacceptable and discrimination on grounds of place of birth, caste, religion, financial status, educational status, skin-color, gender etc., has been made illegal - no one can be discriminated against on these and other such grounds; all the people of the world have been given equal rights; cannibalism has been brought to an end; restricting imparting of education only to certain people has been recognized as evil and the right to education to all has been adopted, etc. To accomplish these changes in people and societies, Constitutions have either been made, or altogether changed, or suitably amended.
Although we have seen very briefly about the effects of the Bible and the ability of its message to bring changes, but whatever little we have seen, it places before all of us a very serious question to ponder over - are all these possible because of the things written by the imagination or thoughts of a human being? This question becomes even more serious, when it is considered in the light of the fact that all over the world, wherever things have changed through the effects of the Bible, in those places the books and teachings of the philosophers, thinkers, and religious leaders were already present, and were being read and utilized; and yet these social evils and problems also existed and were thriving. Even today, many such books based on human thoughts and imagination are available, but has any such book brought about such wide-ranging and world-wide changes, and on the scale that the Bible has done? The reality is that the words and teachings of the Bible have given a new direction, a new guidance to people's lives by rectifying the social evils that they have been born in, and have persisted; inappropriate things that came into the society and took hold because of the thoughts and imaginations of mere men.
The same Bible, urges you today to ponder over your own life, because the Bible also tells us that a day is approaching when the world will face its end and judgment, and every person will have to stand before the Lord Jesus to give an account of their lives (Acts 17:30-31; 2 Corinthians 5:10), and receive the rewards and consequences according to the lives they have lived. To prepare for that judgment, the place and time is this earth, and our earthly life. Whatever decisions one takes now, in this life-time, those decisions will remain applicable in eternal life; there will be no chance of any correction or change then.
Therefore, If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord, make your decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now to ensure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Repenting of your sins, and asking the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily and sincerely, surrendering yourself to Him - is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life. Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.
