इस श्रृंखला में हम मसीही विश्वासी के परमेश्वर द्वारा उसे दिए गए प्रावधानों के योग्य एवं भले भण्डारी होने के बारे में अध्ययन कर रहे हैं। हमारा वर्तमान जारी विषय है विश्वासी का परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा का योग्य भण्डारी होना। परमेश्वर द्वारा पवित्र आत्मा उसके प्रत्येक विश्वासी, प्रत्येक नया-जन्म पाए हुए संतान को उसी समय दे दिया जाता है जब वह नया जन्म प्राप्त करता है, अर्थात्, अपने पापों से पश्चाताप करता है, प्रभु यीशु को अपना उद्धारकर्ता स्वीकार करता है, और अपना जीवन उसे समर्पित कर देता है। पवित्र आत्मा, मसीही विश्वास के जीवन में उसकी सहायता और मार्गदर्शन करने के लिए परमेश्वर द्वारा दिया गया सहायक और साथी है; ताकि वह परमेश्वर द्वारा उसे सौंपी गई सेवकाई का ठीक से निर्वाह कर सके, और उस सेवकाई के लिए परमेश्वर द्वारा उसे दिए गए संसाधनों का सही उपयोग कर सके। इसलिए प्रत्येक मसीही विश्वासी को यह पता होना चाहिए कि परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा की सहायता और मार्गदर्शन सही और उचित रीति से किस प्रकार उपयोग की जाए; बजाए उसके बारे में अनजाने रहने, और फिर लापरवाह होकर उसके नाम में मनमानी रीति से कुछ भी कहने और करने के।

प्रभु यीशु ने, उनके क्रूस पर चढ़ाने के लिए पकड़वाए जाने से पहले, शिष्यों के साथ अपने अंतिम वार्तालाप में, शिष्यों के जीवनों में पवित्र आत्मा की सेवकाई के बारे में उन्हें सिखाया था। प्रभु की ये शिक्षाएँ हमारे लिए यूहन्ना 14 से 16 अध्याय में लिखी गई हैं। इस खंड में से, पिछले कुछ लेखों में हम यूहन्ना 14:16 में से पवित्र आत्मा के विश्वासी का सहायक और साथी होने के बारे में सीखा है। हमने देखा है कि पवित्र आत्मा विश्वासी के स्थान पर उसका विकल्प होकर काम करने वाला नहीं है। वह कठिन परिस्थितियों में उनका मार्गदर्शन और सहायता करेगा, परन्तु काम को अपने हाथों में लेकर उनके स्थान पर उस काम नहीं करेगा। हमने पवित्र आत्मा के सर्वदा विश्वासी में निवास करने – विश्वासी का पवित्र आत्मा का मन्दिर होने के बारे में; और इन बातों के परिणामस्वरूप जो ज़िम्मेदारियाँ मसीही विश्वासी पर आती हैं, उनके बारे में देखा है। आज से हम यूहन्ना 14:17 से परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा के कुछ अन्य पक्ष देखना आरम्भ करेंगे। हम सीखेंगे कि वह कब और कहाँ पर विश्वासी का सहायक और साथी होगा। हम इस बहुत महत्वपूर्ण बात को भी समझेंगे विश्वासी को यह आशा नहीं रखनी चाहिए, यूँ ही नहीं मान लेना चाहिए कि वह जो सोच रहा है, जो योजना बना रहा है, जो कर रहा है, उसमें पवित्र आत्मा भी स्वतः ही अवश्य ही उसके साथ सहमत होगा और सम्मिलित होगा।

प्रभु ने यूहन्ना 14:17 में पवित्र आत्मा के बारे में कहा, “अर्थात सत्य का आत्मा, जिसे संसार ग्रहण नहीं कर सकता, क्योंकि वह न उसे देखता है और न उसे जानता है: तुम उसे जानते हो, क्योंकि वह तुम्हारे साथ रहता है, और वह तुम में होगा।” यहाँ पर हम प्रभु द्वारा तीन बातें कही गई देखते हैं:

1. वह सत्य का आत्मा है

2. संसार उसे ग्रहण नहीं कर सकता है, क्योंकि वह न उसे देखता है और न उसे जानता है

3. प्रभु के शिष्य उसे जानते हैं, क्योंकि वह उनके साथ रहता है और उनमें निवास करेगा

हम इन में से अंतिम बात, अर्थात् पवित्र आत्मा के मसीही विश्वासी में निवास करने के बारे में पिछले लेखों में देख चुके हैं, इसलिए हम अब प्रभु द्वारा कही गई पहली दो बातों को ही देखेंगे; और आज से पहली बात से आरम्भ करेंगे।

1. वह सत्य का आत्मा है। यूहन्ना 14, 15, और 16 अध्यायों में, जहाँ प्रभु यीशु ने पवित्र आत्मा के बारे में शिक्षा दी है, प्रभु ने तीन बार पवित्र आत्मा को “सत्य का आत्मा” कहा है, यूहन्ना 14:17; यूहन्ना 15:26; और यूहन्ना 16:13 में। प्रभु यीशु द्वारा एक विशिष्ट बात के लिए बल देकर और दोहरा कर यह कहना, अभिप्राय देता है कि यह बहुत महत्वपूर्ण बात है; ऐसी, जिसे पवित्र आत्मा से संबंधित किसी भी बात के सन्दर्भ में, न तो हलके में लिया जा सकता है और न ही जिस की अनदेखी की जा सकती है। इस बात को स्पष्ट समझ लेना, उसे अच्छे से याद कर लेना, और नया-जन्म पाए हुए मसीही विश्वासी के द्वारा मसीही जीवन के हर पक्ष में इस का हमेशा पालन करना अति आवश्यक है। यह करना अनिवार्य है, क्योंकि जैसा ऊपर कहा गया है, मसीही विश्वासी के जीवन और सेवकाई का प्रभावी एवं सफल होना उसे उपलब्ध पवित्र आत्मा की सामर्थ्य पर ही निर्भर करता है। साथ ही, जैसा कि अगले लेख में समझाया और स्पष्ट किया गया है, इस बात से हल्का सा भी हटना या उसके साथ ज़रा सा भी समझौता करना, मसीहियत की बुनियाद को ही झकझोर कर रख देगा। हम अगले लेख में भी पवित्र आत्मा के “सत्य का आत्मा” होने बे बारे में विचार करना ज़ारी रखेंगे।

 

यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। स्वेच्छा से अपने पापों के लिये पश्चाताप करके, प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु, मैं अपने पापों के लिए पश्चातापी हूँ, उनके लिए आप से क्षमा माँगता हूँ। मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मुझे और मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

Holy Spirit – The Spirit of Truth – 1

 

In this series we are studying the Christian Believer being a worthy steward of all his God given provisions. Presently we are considering about the Believer being a worthy steward of God the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is given by God to each and every Believer, His Born-Again child, from the moment of his being Born Again, i.e., repenting of his sins, accepting the Lord Jesus as his savior, and surrendering his life to Him. The Holy Spirit is the Believer’s Helper and Companion, to help and guide him in his life of Christian faith, in carrying out his God assigned ministry, and in utilizing his God-given resources to carry out that ministry. Therefore, the Believer ought to know how to worthily and appropriately utilize the help and guidance of God the Holy Spirit; instead of being ignorant about Him, and thereby presumptively and casually saying or doing things in His name. 

The Lord Jesus, in His final discourse with the disciples, before His being caught and taken for crucifixion, taught them about the ministry of the Holy Spirit in their lives. Lord’s teachings about this are recorded for us in John’s gospel, chapters 14 to 16. From this section, in the previous few articles we have seen from John 14:16 about the Holy Spirit being the Believer’s Helper and Companion, and not his substitute; He will be their Helper and guide in difficult circumstances, but will not take-over and do their work for them. We then saw about the Holy Spirit always residing in the Believers – the Believer being the Temple of the Holy Spirit, and the consequent responsibilities these Biblical facts place upon the Believer. From today we will start learning from John 14:17, some other aspects of God the Holy Spirit. We will learn where and how He will be of help and be a companion for the Believer. We will also understand a very important thing, i.e., the Believers must not assume or expect that the Holy Spirit will automatically join them, agree with them in everything that they are thinking, planning, or doing.

The Lord, in John 14:17, says about God the Holy Spirit that, “the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you.” We see three things stated here by the Lord Jesus about the Holy Spirit:

1. He is the Spirit of truth.

2. The world cannot receive Him, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him.

3. The disciples of the Lord know Him, for He dwells with them and will reside in them. 

Of these, we have already considered the last one, i.e., the Holy Spirit residing in the Christian Believers; so now we will be looking at the first two aspects stated by the Lord Jesus about Him; and we will start with the first aspect today.

1. He is the Spirit of Truth. In John chapters 14, 15, 16, wherein the Lord Jesus taught the disciples about the Holy Spirit, He has called the Holy Spirit "the Spirit of Truth" three times, in John 14:17; John 15:26; and John 16:13. This repetitive emphasis by the Lord Jesus upon a particular aspect, implies its being of great significance, one that cannot be taken lightly or ignored in anything to do with the Holy Spirit. This needs to be very clearly understood, committed to memory, and always adhered to in all aspects of Christian living by every Born-Again Christian Believer. This is mandatory, because as stated above, the Christian Believer’s life and ministry being effective and successful depends upon the power of the Holy Spirit made available to him. Moreover, as will be explained in the next article, even a slight deviation or compromise on this count will severely shake the very foundation of Christianity. In the next article too, we will continue pondering over the Holy Spirit being "the Spirit of Truth."

If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord, make your decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now to ensure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Repenting of your sins, and asking the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily and sincerely, surrendering yourself to Him - is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life.  Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.

हम मसीही विश्वासियों का, परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा के योग्य भण्डारी होने के बारे में देख रहे हैं। हमने देखा है कि जिस पल व्यक्ति प्रभु यीशु में विश्वास कर के उसे अपना उद्धारकर्ता ग्रहण करता है, नया जन्म पा कर परमेश्वर के परिवार का सदस्य बन जाता है, परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा उसी पल से आकर उसमें रहने लग जाता है। हमने देखा था कि प्रभु यीशु ने अपने क्रूस पर चढ़ाए जाने के लिए पकड़वाए जाने से पहले ठीक पहले, अपने शिष्यों के साथ हुए वार्तालाप में, पवित्र आत्मा के बारे में उन्हें सिखाया था। पवित्र आत्मा से सम्बन्धित यह वार्तालाप हमारे लिए यूहन्ना 14 से 16 अध्याय में दर्ज किया गया है। पिछले लेख में हमने यूहन्ना 14:16 को देखना आरम्भ किया था, जिसमें प्रभु ने अपने शिष्यों के जीवन से संबंधित, पवित्र आत्मा के बारे में दो बातें कही हैं – कि वह उनका सहायक होगा, और हमेशा उनके साथ बना रहेगा। पवित्र आत्मा के मसीही विश्वासी का सहायक होने को समझने के लिए, हमने देखा था कि जिस शब्द का अनुवाद ‘सहायक’ किया गया है, मूल यूनानी भाषा का वह शब्द है ‘पैराक्लीटोस’, जिसका अर्थ होता है साथ बने रहने वाला, या साथी। हमने यह भी देखा था कि क्यों प्रत्येक मसीही विश्वासी को, यीशु को अपने जीवन का प्रभु स्वीकार कर लेने के पल से ही पवित्र आत्मा की सहायता, मार्गदर्शन, और सामर्थ्य की आवश्यकता होती है। आज हम पवित्र आत्मा के हमारा ‘सहायक’ या ‘साथी’ होने के बारे में और समझेंगे।

हमने पिछले लेख का अंत इस बात के साथ किया था कि बहुधा मसीही विश्वासी पवित्र आत्मा को अपने स्थान पर काम करने वाला बना कर उपयोग करना चाहते हैं, बजाए उसे अपने सहायक या साथी होने के। लेकिन न तो वह यह है, और न ही कभी यह करेगा; अर्थात, परमेश्वर ने जो हमारे करने के लिए निर्धारित किया है, उसे वह हमारे स्थान पर नहीं करेगा। जो हम से करने के लिए कहा गया है, उसके लिए वह हमें सिखाएगा, हमारा मार्गदर्शन करेगा, और हमें उसके लिए उपयुक्त सामर्थ्य देगा, लेकिन उसे करने के लिए हमारा स्थान नहीं लेगा। लेकिन बहुत से मसीही इस प्रार्थना के पीछे छुपना चाहते हैं कि, “प्रभु में यह नहीं कर सकता हूँ, मैं उतना सामर्थी नहीं हूँ, मैं अपने सभी प्रयासों में सदा ही असफल रहा हूँ, आदि, इसलिए अब आप ही इसे कर के दें”, और वे अपनी ज़िम्मेदारी प्रभु पर या उन में निवास करने वाले पवित्र आत्मा पर डाल देना चाहते हैं। इस प्रकार की सोच की गलती और ऐसी प्रार्थनाओं की व्यर्थता समझने के लिए हमें परमेश्वर के वचन के दो अन्य पदों – 2 पतरस 1:3, और भजन 103:14 को देखना होगा।

2 पतरस 1:3 हमें बताता है कि जीवन और भक्ति से संबंधित प्रत्येक बात हमें प्रभु यीशु की पहचान के द्वारा पहले से ही दे दी गई है। इसका तात्पर्य है कि, प्रत्येक मसीही के पास वे सभी संसाधन उपलब्ध हैं जो उसे अपने साँसारिक जीवन तथा भक्ति के जीवन के लिए चाहिएँ। साथ ही परमेश्वर हमें ऐसी कोई भी ज़िम्मेदारी, या ऐसा कोई भी कार्य नहीं सौंपेगा, जिसके लिये उसने हमें सक्षम और तैयार नहीं किया है। परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा हमें परमेश्वर द्वारा दिये गये उन संसाधनों को सही और प्रभावी रीति से उपयोग करना सिखाता है।

साथ ही, हम भजन 103:14 से सीखते हैं कि परमेश्वर को हमारी सृष्टि ध्यान रहती है और यह भी कि हम मिट्टी ही हैं। और यह एक बार फिर से इस बात की पुष्टि करता है कि परमेश्वर कभी हमें हमारी सामर्थ्य और क्षमता से बाहर कुछ भी करने के लिए नहीं कहेगा; अगर कुछ करने के लिए कहेगा तो वही करने के लिये कहेगा जो हमारी क्षमता और सामर्थ्य की सीमा में होगा।

इसलिए, यदि 2 पतरस 1:3 मसीहियों के लिए सही है, तो किसी भी मसीही विश्वासी के लिए ऐसी कोई भी प्रार्थना करना बिलकुल व्यर्थ है कि, “प्रभु मैं यह नहीं कर सकता हूँ, आप ही मेरे लिए इसे कर के दें”, क्योंकि ऐसी प्रार्थना करने का तात्पर्य है कि:

• परमेश्वर ने हर परिस्थिति का सामना करने के लिए हमें सभी प्रावधान नहीं दिए हैं, तैयार नहीं किया है। इसका तात्पर्य है कि परमेश्वर झूठा है जब वह कहता है कि उसने मनुष्य को अपने स्वरूप में बनाया है (उत्पत्ति 1:27), परन्तु उसमें अपनी कुछ बातों को नहीं डाला हैं।

• उसने हमारे जीवन को, और भक्ति का जीवन जी पाने के लिए, आवश्यक कुछ बातें हम से रख छोड़ी हैं। ध्यान कीजिये, यह वही युक्ति है जिस शैतान ने अदन की वाटिका में हव्वा के विरुद्ध प्रयोग किया था, कि परमेश्वर ने तुम्हें भले और बुरे के ज्ञान से वंचित कर रखा है (उत्पत्ति 3:5)। 

• हम पर शैतान जो कुछ भी ला सकता है, उस सभी के लिए परमेश्वर ने हमें तैयार और सक्षम नहीं किया है। जो यह कहने के समान है कि शैतान परमेश्वर से अधिक चतुर और बुद्धिमान है, और परमेश्वर से बढ़कर सोच सकता है; तथा परमेश्वर वह सर्वज्ञानी, आदि से अन्त को जानने वाला परमेश्वर नहीं है (यशायाह 46:10-11)।

अपनी इन्हीं बातों में फँसाकर, अब शैतान कहता है, इसलिए मैं जो कहता हूँ वह करो, और तुम्हें वह भी मिल जाएगा जो परमेश्वर ने तुम से रोक कर रखा है, और इस प्रकार से तुम उस से भी बेहतर हो जाओगे जैसा परमेश्वर ने तुम्हें बनाया है। वह हमारे मुँह में भक्ति और श्रद्धा पूर्ण लगने वाले शब्द डालकर हमसे परमेश्वर को झूठा ठहराता है; और हम बिना बात पर विचार किये, उसका विश्लेषण किये, केवल इसलिये मान लेते हैं, क्योंकि कोई अन्य, या हमारा कोई अगुवा इस बात को बोलता है, जबकि यह 1 थिस्सलुनीकियों 5:21 की अनाज्ञाकारिता करना है। 

जैसा कि हमने ऊपर देखा है, शैतान के इस झूठ को स्वीकार करने और मानने का अर्थ है तीन ऐसी बातों को स्वीकार कर लेना और मान लेना जो परमेश्वर के चरित्र और गुणों को ही नकार देती हैं। ये बातें हैं:

• पहली, परमेश्वर न तो सर्वज्ञानी है और न ही सर्वसामर्थी है – वह यह जान ही नहीं पाता है कि शैतान क्या कर कुछ सकता है और न ही उसका सामना करने के लिए उपयुक्त प्रावधान प्रदान कर पाता है। इसलिए वह अपने बच्चों को शैतान की युक्तियों पर जयवंत जीवन जीने के लिए उपयुक्त संसाधन नहीं देने पाता है।

• दूसरी, परमेश्वर झूठा है, या फिर झूठे आश्वासन देने वाला है; ऐसे आश्वासन जिन्हें वह पूरा नहीं कर सकता है, और इसलिए उसके वचन पर भरोसा नहीं रखा जा सकता है। इसका तात्पर्य यह हुआ कि यद्यपि परमेश्वर कहता तो है कि जीवन और भक्ति से संबंधित हर बात उसने हमें पहले से ही प्रदान कर रखी है; लेकिन जब उसके इस आश्वासन को परखा जाता है, तो उसके दावे खरे नहीं निकलते हैं।

• तीसरी, इस से परमेश्वर की संतानों के मनों में परमेश्वर के बारे में, उसके द्वारा प्रार्थनाओं का उत्तर देने, और हमारी किसी आवश्यकता के समय पर परमेश्वर की सहायता के उपलब्ध होने के बारे में सन्देह उत्पन्न होते हैं। इस से विश्वासियों अन्दर फिर अजेय विफलताओं के होने की, अयोग्यताओं के होने की, और अपर्याप्त प्रावधानों के होने की भावनाएँ उत्पन्न होती हैं; विशेषतः तब जब इस प्रकार की बारम्बार की गई प्रार्थनाओं का कोई उत्तर नहीं मिलता है, और समस्या वैसी ही बनी रहती है। और समस्या वैसी ही बनी भी रहेगी क्योंकि कमी परमेश्वर में नहीं हमारी समझ की गलती और गलत प्रार्थनाओं में है।

Holy Spirit – Our Helper – 2

 

We have been looking at Christian Believer’s being the stewards of God’s Holy Spirit. We have seen that God the Holy Spirit comes to reside in the Christian Believers the moment they come to faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and accept Him as their Savior, i.e., are Born-Again and become members of God’s family. We have seen that the Lord Jesus taught His disciples about the Holy Spirit in His last discourse with them before being caught and taken for crucifixion. The Lord’s teachings about the Holy Spirit in this final discourse have been recorded for us in John’s gospel, chapters 14 to 16. In the previous article we had started looking at John 14:16, where the Lord stated two functions of the Holy Spirit in the lives of His disciples – that He will be their Helper, and will always be with them. In understanding the Holy Spirit being the disciple’s ‘Helper’, we had seen that the word translated as ‘Helper’, in the original Greek language is ‘parakletos’ which means one who remains alongside, is a companion. We had also seen why every disciple of the Lord Jesus needs the help, guidance, and power of the Holy Spirit since the time of his accepting Jesus as the Lord of his life. Today, we will continue and see further about the Holy Spirit being a ‘Helper' or a 'Companion' of the Lord’s disciple.

We had concluded the last article by saying that very often Christian Believers tend to try to use the Holy Spirit as their substitute, as one who will do their work for them, instead of seeing Him as their Helper or Companion. But He is neither meant to do this, nor will He do it, i.e., He will never do instead of us, what we have been asked to do by God. But He will teach, guide and empower us for doing what we have been asked to do, and show to us, or lead us into how to do it; but will not replace us to do it for us. But many Christian Believers tend to hide behind the prayer “Lord, I cannot do it, I am not strong enough to do it, I have always failed in all my attempts, etc., so now you do it for me” and pass the responsibility to the Lord or to the Holy Spirit residing in them to do their work instead. To understand the fallacy of this thinking and the vanity of such prayers, we need to consider two other verses of God’s Word – 2 Peter 1:3, and Psalm 103:14.

2 Peter 1:3 tells us that everything for life and Godliness has already been given to us in the knowledge of the Lord Jesus. The evident implication is that God will never entrust us with a responsibility, or give us a job to do, for which He has not equipped and prepared us beforehand. Hence, every Christian Believer has every resource he will ever need for living his physical or worldly life and also for Godliness in this life. The Holy Spirit teaches us how to utilize those God given resources properly and effectively.

Moreover, we learn from Psalm 103:14 that God remembers our frame and that we are but dust. And, this once again affirms that God will only ask us to do something that we can, well knowing that thing which He is asking us to do is within our God given capabilities; and is not something we cannot do.

Therefore, if 2 Peter 1:3 is true for the Believers, then it is vain for a Believer to pray that "Lord, I cannot do it, you do it for me", since praying this prayer implies that:

• God has not fully equipped us, has not prepared us to handle every situation. This implies that God is a liar when He says that He created man in His own image (Genesis 1:27), and not putting in Him something of what God has.

• He has held back something required for our living our life and for a Godly living. Recall that this is the same ploy that Satan used against Eve in the Garden of Eden, that God has held back the knowledge of good and evil from you.

• God has left us inadequately prepared and deficient to handle everything that Satan can bring upon us. Indirectly saying, Satan is smarter, more cunning, and can out-think, out-do God; and God is not the omniscient God, the God who knows the end from the beginning (Isaiah 46:10-11).

Satan traps us in such ploys and asks to do what he says, and assures us that we will acquire what God has kept back from us, and thus become even better than what God has created us. Satan puts seemingly pious and God honoring words in our mouths and makes us say indirectly that God is a liar. And we, without pondering over and analyzing it, agree with it only because either someone else, or one of our spiritual leaders uses those words; whereas, this is disobeying 1 Thessalonians 5:21.

As we have seen above, our accepting and believing this satanic lie, implies three things; things that negate the very character and attributes of God. These three things are:

• First, God is neither omniscient nor omnipotent - He is unable to know and anticipate what Satan can do, and therefore is unable to equip His children to give them the power and ability to be victorious over Satan's ploys.

• Second, God is a liar, one who gives false assurances; assurances that He cannot keep, and therefore His Word is unreliable. It implies that though God says He has already given us all things for life and Godliness, the actual reality is that when His assurances are tested, His claims do not stand true.

• Third, it creates doubts in the minds of God’s children about God really answering prayers and about God's help actually being available in our time of need. This, then generates feelings of unsurmountable failure and inadequacies in the Believer, when his repeated prayers of this kind remain unanswered - as they always will; because the misunderstandings and errors in those prayers are ours, not God's.

The Holy Spirit helps and guides us in properly utilizing our God given resources, and overcome the ploys of the devil. To think and believe that He will take over from us and do our job for us, is to fall for the satanic deceptions; deceptions that he fed to us in the garb of religiosity and being piety, but actually meant to disappoint us, to weaken our faith, to waste our time on vain things, and to make us ineffective in our ministry for God. We will consider this a bit more in the next article, and see how not to be misled by Satan into coming to wrong conclusions, misinterpreting God’s Word and doubting God’s assurances for us.

If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord, make your decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now to ensure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Repenting of your sins, and asking the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily and sincerely, surrendering yourself to Him - is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life.  Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.

हमने पिछले लेख से मसीही विश्वासियों के परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा के योग्य भण्डारी होने के बारे में देखना आरम्भ किया है। हमने देखा था कि हम जिस पल प्रभु यीशु को अपना उद्धारकर्ता स्वीकार करते हैं, और अपना जीवन उसे समर्पित कर देते हैं, अर्थात, जिस पल से कोई व्यक्ति “नया-जन्म” प्राप्त करता है, उसी पल से परमेश्वर उसे पवित्र आत्मा को दे देता है; प्रत्येक नया जन्म पाने वाले जन को बिना किसी भेद-भाव के। पवित्र आत्मा के बारे में चर्चा हमें यूहन्ना रचित सुसमाचार के 14 से 16 अध्याय में मिलती है। प्रभु यीशु ने अपने शिष्यों से यह वायदा किया था कि प्रभु के सँसार से जाने के बाद पवित्र आत्मा आ कर प्रभु के शिष्यों के साथ रहेगा। पिछले लेख में हमने पवित्र आत्मा के प्रभु यीशु के शिष्यों को दिए जाने के उद्देश्यों को बहुत संक्षेप में देखा था। आज से हम यूहन्ना रचित सुसमाचार के इन अध्यायों में से, इन उद्देश्यों को उसी क्रम में देखेंगे, जिस में वे वहाँ पर दिए गए हैं। इस से हमें सीखने और एहसास करने में सहायता मिलेगी कि हम हमारे जीवनों में उसकी उपस्थिति को किस तरह से उपयोग कर सकते हैं, अपनी सेवकाई, अपने लाभ, और परमेश्वर को महिमा प्रदान करने के लिये; अर्थात, परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा के योग्य भण्डारी होने की ज़िम्मेदारी का उचित निर्वाह करने के लिए।

यूहन्ना 14:16 में प्रभु शिष्यों के लिए पवित्र आत्मा के दो उद्देश्यों को बताता है: (a) वह हमारा ‘एक और सहायक’ होगा, और (b) वह सर्वदा हमारे साथ रहेगा। आज से हम पहले उद्देश्य – पवित्र आत्मा के हमारा सहायक या साथी होने के बारे में देखेंगे। यहाँ पर जिस शब्द का अनुवाद “सहायक” किया गया है, मूल यूनानी भाषा का वह शब्द है “पैराक्लीटोस”, अर्थात वह जो हमेशा हमारे साथ बना रहता है – हमारा साथी। अर्थात, परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा हमेशा हमारे साथ होता है, हम में हमेशा उपलब्ध रहता है ताकि हमारे जीवन में प्रभु द्वारा निर्धारित भूमिका का निर्वाह कर सके। हमें उसे बुलाने की आवश्यकता नहीं होती है, न ही किसी विशेष आवश्यकता के समय में उसे उपलब्ध होने के लिए आग्रह करना पड़ता है, क्योंकि हमें उसकी आवश्यकता हर समय और हर बात के लिए रहती है, और वह हम मसीही विश्वासियों में हमेशा बना रहता है।

यहाँ पर, यह समझने के लिए कि ऐसा क्यों है, क्यों प्रत्येक मसीही विश्वासी के लिए पवित्र आत्मा की निरन्तर उपस्थिति अनिवार्य है, हमें तीन बातों को याद रखना, और उनका एहसास बनाए रखना आवश्यक है। ये बातें हैं:

• पहली बात है कि मसीही विश्वासी का जीवन शैतान और उसके दूतों तथा उनकी युक्तियों, उनके षड्यंत्रों, उनकी चालाकियों के विरूद्ध एक निरंतर बने रहने वाला, आजीवन चलते रहने वाला संघर्ष है (इफिसियों 6:12)। इसलिए उस संघर्ष में जयवंत रहने के लिए हमें पवित्र आत्मा की निरंतर सहायता और मार्गदर्शन की आवश्यकता रहती है।

• दूसरी बात, परमेश्वर के बाद, सृष्टि में शैतान ही दूसरा सबसे सामर्थी प्राणी है; यहाँ तक कि प्रधान-स्वर्गदूत मीकाईल भी उसे सीधे से डाँट नहीं सकता है (यहूदा 1:9); और परमेश्वर के स्वर्गदूत भी अकेले उसका सामना नहीं कर सकते हैं (दानिय्येल 10:12)। इसलिए मनुष्य, जो सृष्टि से ही स्‍वर्गदूतों से कुछ कम बनाया गया है (इब्रानियों 2:6-7), वह चाहे आत्मिक दृष्टि से कितना भी परिपक्व क्यों न हो, अपने आप से कभी शैतान की सामर्थ्य और युक्तियों का सामना नहीं कर सकता है। इसी लिए, ताकि हम शैतान और उसके दूतों से सुरक्षित बने रहें, परमेश्वर विश्वास के द्वारा जन्मे उसके प्रत्येक संतान के अन्दर, उसके साथ बने रहने के लिए, हमारे नया-जन्म पाने के पल ही से, पवित्र आत्मा के रूप में आ कर रहने लगता है।

• तीसरी बात, परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा एक व्यक्तित्व है, पवित्र त्रिएक परमेश्वर का एक भाग, त्रिएक परमेश्वर है। जैसे किसी भी व्यक्ति को टुकड़ों में तोड़ कर बाँटा नहीं जा सकता है, उसी तरह से पवित्र आत्मा भी कभी भी “नाप” कर, अर्थात टुकड़ों में कर के नहीं दिया जाता है, जैसा की स्वयं प्रभु यीशु ने कहा है (यूहन्ना 3:34)। इसलिए पवित्र आत्मा जहाँ भी होगा, वह अपनी सम्पूर्णता में ही विद्यमान होगा, और ऐसा कोई तरीका संभव ही नहीं है कि कोई उसकी उपस्थिति एवं उपलब्ध होने को किसी भी तरह से अधिक या कम कर सके। जो बदला जा सकता है, वह है उसे उपयोग करने की हमारी क्षमता तथा हमारे जीवनों में उपलब्ध उसकी सामर्थ्य। लेकिन उसकी उपस्थिति और उसकी सामर्थ्य, हमेशा ही, सभी के लिए एक ही समान रहेगी।

वह हमारा पैराक्लीटोस है, अर्थात हमारा साथी या सहायक; लेकिन वह हमारे स्थान पर काम करने वाला हमारा सेवक नहीं है, कि परमेश्वर ने जो हमें करने के लिए कहा है, उसे हमारे स्थान पर वह कर दे। वह हमें दिखाएगा, सिखाएगा कि क्या करना है, कैसे करना है; जब हमें समझ नहीं आ रहा होगा कि क्या कहें और कैसे कहें तब प्रार्थना करने में हमारी सहायता करेगा; लेकिन वह कभी भी हमारा स्थान नहीं लेता है, हमारी जगह हमारी ज़िम्मेदारी को नहीं निभाता है। इसे बेहतर समझने के लिए हम अगले लेख में इसे और विस्तार से देखेंगे।

Holy Spirit – Our Helper – 1

 

Since the previous article we have started to look into the Christian Believers being the stewards of God the Holy Spirit. We have seen that the moment a person accepts the Lord Jesus as Savior, i.e., the moment he is Born-Again, God gives the Holy Spirit to him at that very moment; to every one who is Born-Again; without any discrimination or differentiation. The discourse about the Holy Spirit is given to us in John’s Gospel, chapters 14 to 16. The Lord Jesus promised His disciple that after His going away from the world, God the Holy Spirit will come to be with them. In the previous article we have seen a gist of why God the Holy Spirit is given to be with the disciples of the Lord Jesus. From today we will see from these chapters of John’s Gospel, in the order they have been stated there, the purposes of the Holy Spirit staying with us. This will help us learn and realize how we should utilize His presence in us for our ministry, our benefit, and the glory of God. i.e., fulfilling the responsibility of being worthy stewards of God the Holy Spirit.

In John 14:16 the Lord states two functions of the Holy Spirit for the disciples: (a) to be our ‘another helper,’ and (b) be with us always. Today we will begin considering the first function – the Holy Spirit being along with us as our Helper or Companion. The Greek word translated here as “helper” is parakletos, i.e., one who stays alongside – a companion. So, God the Holy Spirit is one who is always at our side, is always available to us for His Lord assigned role in our lives. We do not have to call for Him, or ask for Him to be made available in some particular need, since we need Him all the time and for everything and He resides in us Christian Believers all the time. 

We need to remember three things here, to understand why it has to be so; why the continual presence of God the Holy Spirit is so critical for every Christian Believer: 

• The first is that a Christian Believer’s life is a constant, relentless struggle against the wiles of Satan and his demons; their conspiracies and ploys that they keep putting up against us (Ephesians 6:12). Therefore, to remain victorious in this struggle we need the constant power and guidance of the Holy Spirit.

• Secondly, next to God, Satan is the second most powerful being in the universe; so much so that even the Archangel Michael cannot rebuke him directly (Jude 1:9); and even the angels of God cannot overcome him single-handedly (Daniel 10:12). Therefore, man who has been created a little lower than the angels (Hebrews 2:6-7), no matter how spiritually mature he may be, can never face the powers and ploys of the devil on his own. So, to help us stay safe from the devil and his angels, since the time of our being Born-Again, God comes to stay within and alongside every one of His children, born into His family by faith, as the Holy Spirit.

• Thirdly God the Holy Spirit is a person, a part of the Holy Trinity, of the Triune God. Just as no person can be divided or broken into bits and pieces for being distributed around, so also the Holy Spirit is never given in “measures”, i.e., in parts, as the Lord Jesus has Himself said about Him (John 3:34). So, wherever the Holy Spirit is, He is present in His entirety, and there is no way one can have any more or less of him, or increase His availability in any way. What changes is our ability to utilize Him and His power in our lives; but His presence and power always remains the same at all times, for all.

He is our parakletos, i.e., our companion; but He is not our substitute, to replace us to do what we have been asked to do by God. He will show and teach us, guide us what to do and how, He helps us in our prayers when we do not know what to say, but He does not replace us or take over from us and instead of us do what we are supposed to do. To understand this better, we will consider this further in the next article.
