पवित्र आत्मा से सीखना – 1

 

    क्रूस पर चढ़ाए जाने के लिए पकड़वाए जाने से पहले, प्रभु यीशु मसीह ने अपने शिष्यों से प्रतिज्ञा की थी कि वे परमेश्वर पिता से कह कर, परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा को भेजेंगे, ताकि वह हमेशा उनके साथ बना रहे, उनका सहायक और साथी हो। प्रभु यीशु ने यूहन्ना 14 से 16 अध्याय में शिष्यों को पवित्र आत्मा के बारे में सिखाया कि किस प्रकार से पवित्र आत्मा उनके जीवन और सेवकाई में उनका सहायक और साथी होगा। मसीह यीशु के सभी शिष्य, नया-जन्म पाए हुए मसीही विश्वासी, उन्हें परमेश्वर द्वारा दिए गए प्रावधानों के भण्डारी हैं; और जैसे परमेश्वर द्वारा दिए गए अन्य प्रावधानों के भण्डारी हैं, उसी प्रकार से वे परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा के भी भण्डारी हैं। योग्य भण्डारी होने के लिए, अपने जीवन और सेवकाई में उन की सहायता और सामर्थ्य का सही रीति से उचित उपयोग करने के लिए, विश्वासियों को पवित्र आत्मा के बारे में सीखना होगा। हम इन लेखों के द्वारा यही कर रहे हैं, और वर्तमान में हम यूहन्ना 14:17 से पवित्र आत्मा के बारे में सीख रहे हैं। पिछले लेख में हमने देखा था कि यद्यपि पवित्र आत्मा को मानवीय आँखों से नहीं देखा जा सकता है, किन्तु जैसे प्रभु यीशु ने यूहन्ना 3:8 में कहा है, जिन में वह निवास करता है, उन में उसके प्रभावों के द्वारा हम उसकी उपस्थिति को पहचान और प्रमाणित सकते हैं। पिछले लेख में हमने उन प्रभावों में से कुछ को देखा था। आज से हम उन से परमेश्वर के वचन को सीखने के बारे में सीखना आरंभ करेंगे, क्योंकि यह उनके दिए जाने के उद्देश्यों में से एक है (यूहन्ना 14:26)।

    मसीही विश्वासियों में उन में निवास करने वाले पवित्र आत्मा से परमेश्वर का वचन सीखने के बारे में बहुधा एक असमंजस देखा जाता है। उनकी धारणा यही होती है कि उन में पवित्र आत्मा की उपस्थिति के कारण उन्हें तुरंत और स्वतः ही परमेश्वर के वचन का ज्ञाता और समझ-बूझ रखने वाला बन जाना चाहिए; किन्तु यह न तो बाइबल का तथ्य है, और न ही बाइबल में ऐसा कोई आश्वासन दिया गया है। नया जन्म पा लेने के बाद, जब नया विश्वासी बाइबल को पढ़ना आरंभ करता है, तब सामान्यतः वह अपने आप को पढे हुए को समझ नहीं पाने की स्थिति में पाता है। इस से उसके मन में असमंजस आ जाता है, और शैतान इसका लाभ उठाकर उस में पवित्र आत्मा की उपस्थिति के बारे में संदेह उत्पन्न करता है। फिर परमेश्वर के वचन की शिक्षा पाने के लिए शैतान उन्हें मनुष्यों और पुस्तकों की ओर देखने के लिए मोड़ता है। यह करने के द्वारा वह न केवल उन्हें गलत शिक्षाओं और सिद्धांतों में फँसा देता है, बल्कि परमेश्वर के वचन की शिक्षाओं को प्राप्त करने के लिए उन्हें कुछ मनुष्यों पर निर्भर बना देता है; और साथ ही यह उन्हें ‘मनुष्यों का अनुसरण करने वाला’ भी बना देता है, बजाए परमेश्वर का अनुसरण करने वाला और मनुष्यों का मछुआरा होने के।

    परमेश्वर ने हमें अपना वचन दिया है जिससे कि हम यत्न से उसका पालन करें (भजन 119:4), पाप करने से बचे रहें (भजन 119:9, 11), उस के मार्गों को देख सकें (भजन 119:105), और हमें बुद्धिमान बनाने के लिए (भजन 119:98-110)। जहाँ पर भी वचन को सीखने की लालसा होगी (भजन 25:4), परमेश्वर अपने वचन को सिखाएगा, पापियों को भी, यदि वे अपने आप को उसके सामने नम्र करें (भजन 25:8-9), और वह उन्हें उस के अनुसार सिखाएगा जो उस ने उन के लिए तय कर के रखा है (भजन 25:12), अर्थात, उनके लिए उसके द्वारा निर्धारित की गई सेवकाई (इफिसियों 2:10) के अनुसार। दूसरे शब्दों में, परमेश्वर ने हमें अपना वचन दिया ही इस लिए है कि हम उसे सीखें, और वह चाहता भी है कि हम उसे सीखें; वह हमें उसे सिखाना चाहता है, अपनी प्रत्येक सँतान को सीधे और व्यक्तिगत रीति से, यदि वे उसके लिए पर्याप्त और उपयुक्त प्रयास करने के लिए तैयार हैं।

    उन में पवित्र आत्मा के निवास करने के बावजूद विश्वासी के वचन न सीख पाने के तीन मुख्य कारण है: पहला है उस के अंदर परमेश्वर के वचन का पर्याप्त ‘भण्डार’ उपलब्ध न होना; दूसरा है उस के द्वारा परमेश्वर के वचन को पढ़ने और अध्ययन करने के लिए पर्याप्त और उचित समय न लगाना, और सामान्यतः यह तब होता है, जब विश्वासी पवित्र आत्मा के निर्देशों को जानने और मानने के लिए प्रतिबद्ध नहीं होता है; और तीसरा है उनके द्वारा उन्हें मनुष्यों द्वारा दी गई शिक्षाओं में, जिन पर वे भरोसा करते या रहे हैं, ही पवित्र आत्मा की शिक्षाओं को मिलाने की प्रवृत्ति रखना।

    आने वाले लेखों में भी हम इसे ज़ारी रखेंगे, और उपरोक्त तीनों बातों को कुछ विस्तार से देखेंगे।

English Translation

Learning from the Holy Spirit – 1

 

    The Lord Jesus Christ, before His being caught and taken for crucifixion, had promised the disciples that He will ask God the Father to send God the Holy Spirit to always be with them as their Helper and Companion. In John’s gospel, chapters 14 to 16 He had taught the disciples about Him, about how the Holy Spirit would help and guide them in their life and ministry. All disciples of Christ Jesus, the Born-Again Christian Believers, are the stewards of their God given provisions; and as for other things given to them by God, they are the stewards God the Holy Spirit as well. To be worthy stewards, to be able to properly utilize His help and power in their lives and ministry, the Believers have to learn about Him. This is what we are doing through these articles, and presently, we are learning about the Holy Spirit, from John 14:17. In the last article we have seen that though the Holy Spirit cannot be seen with human eyes, but as the Lord Jesus said in John 3:8, His presence is known by the effects He produces in the lives of those in whom He dwells. We have seen some of these effects in the last article. From today we will begin to learn about learning God’s Word from Him, since teaching it is one of His functions (John 14:26).

    There is often a confusion amongst the Christian Believers about learning God’s Word from the Holy Spirit residing in them. Their assumption is that the very presence of the Holy Spirit should automatically make them learned and knowledgeable about God’s Word; but this is neither a Biblical fact, nor an assurance. Having being Born-Again, as the new Believers start reading the Bible, they often find themselves being unable to understand what they are reading. This very often creates a confusion in them, that Satan exploits to make them doubt the presence of the Holy Spirit within them. Satan then gets them to turn to men and books to try to learn God’s Word. Thereby, he not only misleads and entangles them in wrong teachings and doctrines, but also makes them dependent on some persons to receive the teachings about God’s Word; and this also makes them become ‘followers of men’, instead being followers of God and fishers of men.

    God has given us His Word so that we may diligently obey it (Psalm 119:4), to keep us from sinning (Psalm 119:9, 11), to show us His ways, (Psalm 119:105), and to make us wise (Psalm 119:98-100), and He Himself teaches it to us (Psalm 119:102). Where there is a desire to learn (Psalm 25:4), God will teach, even the sinners, if they humble themselves before Him (Psalm 25:8-9), and He teaches them according to the way He has chosen for them (Psalm 25:12), i.e., according to the ministry He has kept for them (Ephesians 2:10 ). In other words, God has given us His Word so that we should learn it, and He wants us to learn it, He wants to teach it to us, directly to each and every one of His children, provided they are willing to put in the requisite efforts for it.

    The inability of a Believer to learn God’s Word, despite the Holy Spirit residing in him, is mainly because of three things: first is the lack of an adequate ‘stock’ of God’s Word available in him; second is his lack of giving adequate time to read and study God’s Word, and this usually is due to the Believer’s not being committed enough to follow and obey the instructions of the Holy Spirit; and the third is their wanting to mix up man’s teachings that they have received and rely upon, with the teachings given by the Holy Spirit to them.

    We will carry on with this in the coming articles, seeing the above mentioned three things in some detail.

    If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord, make your decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now to ensure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Repenting of your sins, and asking the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily and sincerely, surrendering yourself to Him - is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life.  Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.

    प्रत्येक नया-जन्म पाया हुआ मसीही विश्वासी, उसे परमेश्वर द्वारा उपलब्ध करवाए गए सँसाधनों का भण्डारी भी है। परमेश्वर ने ये सँसाधन उसे प्रभु यीशु के लिए गवाही का जीवन जीने  और परमेश्वर द्वारा उसे सौंपी गई सेवकाई को निभाने के लिए दिए हैं। जैसा प्रभु यीशु ने अपने शिष्यों से प्रतिज्ञा की है (यूहन्ना 14:16), परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा भी मसीह के शिष्यों को परमेश्वर के द्वारा दिया जाता है। विश्वासी जिस पल प्रभु यीशु मसीह में विश्वास लाने के द्वारा नया-जन्म, उद्धार पाता है, उसी पल से पवित्र आत्मा उसे दे दिया जाता है, कि उसका सहायक और साथी हो, मसीही जीवन जीने और उसकी सेवकाई को पूरा करने में उसकी सहायता और मार्गदर्शन करे। पवित्र आत्मा की सहायता और मार्गदर्शन का योग्य रीति से उपयोग करने के लिए, विश्वासी को उस के बारे में सीखना चाहिए। पवित्र आत्मा के बारे में मुख्य शिक्षाएँ प्रभु द्वारा यूहन्ना रचित सुसमाचार के 14 से 16 अध्याय में दी गई हैं; और हम उन्हीं में से, वर्तमान में यूहन्ना 14:17 से सीख रहे हैं।

·        1 कुरीनथियों 12:3 यह स्पष्ट कहता है कि “...और न कोई पवित्र आत्मा के बिना कह सकता है कि यीशु प्रभु है।” यह पत्री मसीही विश्वासियों को लिखी गई है, उन्हें, जिन्होंने मसीह यीशु को अपना उद्धारकर्ता और प्रभु स्वीकार किया है। इसलिए इसमें यह तात्पर्य निहित है कि यहाँ प्रयुक्त ‘कह सकता’ का अभिप्राय केवल सुनाने भर के लिए मुँह से निरर्थक बोल देना नहीं है, वरन सार्थक रीति और गंभीरता से यीशु को प्रभु कहने से है; अर्थात उसे समर्पित होने और उसका आज्ञाकारी होने से है। अर्थात, जिनके जीवन प्रभु यीशु के प्रति उनके समर्पण और उसकी आज्ञाकारिता को दिखाते हैं, वे उन के अंदर निवास करने वाले पवित्र आत्मा को भी प्रमाणित करते हैं।

·        2 कुरीनथियों 3:18 में लिखा है कि वह निरन्तर, अंश-अंश कर के विश्वासी को प्रभु यीशु की समानता में बदलता रहता है, जैसा कि हम पिछले लेख में देख चुके हैं।

·        1 यूहन्ना 2:27 में लिखा है कि पवित्र आत्मा शिक्षक होने के नाते विश्वासियों को परमेश्वर का वचन सिखाता है, जैसा कि प्रभु यीशु ने अपने शिष्यों से पवित्र आत्मा के विषय कहा है, “...वह तुम्हें सब बातें सिखाएगा, और जो कुछ मैं ने तुम से कहा है, वह सब तुम्हें स्मरण कराएगा” (यूहन्ना 14:26)। इसलिए वास्तव में नया जन्म पाया हुआ विश्वासी, वचन सीखने के लिए पवित्र आत्मा पर निर्भर करता है, न कि किसी मनुष्य पर।

Holy Spirit & The World – 3

 

    Every Born-Again Christian Believer is a steward of the provisions made available to him by God, to live a life witnessing for the Lord Jesus and fulfil his God assigned ministry. As promised by the Lord Jesus to His disciples (John 14:16), God the Holy Spirit is also given to the disciples of Christ by God. The Believer at the moment of his being saved and Born-Again through coming to faith in the Lord Jesus receives the Holy Spirit; given to be his Helper and Companion, to help and guide him live his Christian life and fulfil his ministry. To be able to worthily utilize the help and guidance of the Holy Spirit, and to be a worthy steward, the Believer must learn about Him. The main teachings about the Holy Spirit are given by the Lord Jesus in John’s gospel, chapters 14 to 16; from these we are presently considering John 14:17.

    In the last article we had seen two important things regarding utilizing the help of the Holy Spirit, from this verse. One was that the term ‘to see’ given in the middle phrase of this verse, does not mean seeing with physical eyes; rather, it means to diligently ponder about or consider deeply. The second was that to know about the Holy Spirit being present, from the Lord Jesus’s own words of John 3:8, the proof of the presence and activity of the Holy Spirit are the effects He produces in the Believers life. We had seen one of these effects from 2 Corinthians 3:18, that He gradually, bit by bit, continually keeps changing the Believer into the likeness of the Lord Jesus. Today, we will continue and look at the other effects that evidence the presence of the Holy Spirit in the Believers. We will start by very briefly, considering why, unlike the popular and often preached and taught notion, ‘tongues’ is not an evidence of the Holy Spirit.

    Tongues is not the Proof: Those who teach wrong things and doctrines about the Holy Spirit, insist that the proof of the Holy Spirit being in a person is the recipient's speaking in tongues. But this is not Biblically true for two reasons, firstly, because Biblical "tongues'' are earthly languages, not gibberish - vain meaningless sounds which these people utter, calling them "tongues''. And, secondly, not everyone who received the Holy Spirit in The Bible, spoke in tongues, i.e., unknown foreign languages – not even the earthly languages. No one in the Old Testament spoke in any “tongues”; and the first four persons filled and empowered by the Holy Spirit in the New Testament, all in Luke chapter 1, never ever spoke in tongues (John the Baptist, Luke 1:15; Mary, Luke 1:35; Elizabeth Luke 1:41-42; Zacharias Luke 1:67). This is part of a series on Deceptive Teachings about the Holy Spirit, that began on 9th November 2022 on this blogsite.

    Knowing the Presence of the Holy Spirit: The life of a Christian Believer manifests the presence of the Holy Spirit in him, through certain effects. These effects are:

·        1 Corinthians 12:3 clearly says that “…no one can say that Jesus is Lord except by the Holy Spirit.” This letter has been written to the Christian Believers, to those who have accepted Christ Jesus as their savior and Lord. Therefore, the inherent implication of ‘saying’ is not just for the sake of articulating the word meaninglessly, but to meaningfully call Jesus as Lord, i.e., to be submitted and obedient to Him. So, those whose lives demonstrate their submission and obedience to the Lord Jesus, they also demonstrate the presence of the Holy Spirit residing within them.

·        2 Corinthians 3:18 says that He progressively keeps changing the Believers into the likeness of the Lord, as we have already seen in the last article.

·        1 John 2:27 says that the Holy Spirit, as teacher, teaches the Believers the Word of God; as the Lord Jesus has said to His disciples that the Holy Spirit “…will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you” (John 14:26).  The truly Born-Again Believer therefore depends upon the Holy Spirit, not any man, to learn the Word of God.

But learning from the Holy Spirit requires a certain attitude and commitment from the Believer. We will carry on and learn about this in the next article and see how Believers can learn the Word from the Holy Spirit.

    If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord, make your decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now to ensure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Repenting of your sins, and asking the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily and sincerely, surrendering yourself to Him - is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life.  Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.

        हम मसीही विश्वासी के, उसे परमेश्वर द्वारा प्रदान किये गए संसाधनों का भण्डारी होने के बारे में अध्ययन कर रहे हैं। परमेश्वर ने उसे ये संसाधन प्रभु के लिए गवाही का जीवन जीने, परमेश्वर द्वारा उसे सौंपी गई सेवकाई को पूरा करने, और परिणामस्वरूप परमेश्वर द्वारा पृथ्वी पर तथा अनन्त काल के लिए एक आशीषित और सफल जीवन जीने के लिए उपलब्ध करवाए हैं। परमेश्वर द्वारा अपने बच्चों – नया जन्म पाए हुए मसीही विश्वासियों को उपलब्ध करवाए गए विभिन्न संसाधनों में से एक है परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा, जो उसे प्रभु यीशु पर विश्वास लाने के द्वारा उद्धार पाने के पल से ही दे दिया जाता है। पवित्र आत्मा को प्रत्येक विश्वासी को उसका सहायक और साथी होने के लिए दिया जाता है, कि उसे उसके मसीही जीवन और सेवकाई के बारे में सिखा सके और उसका मार्गदर्शन कर सके। पवित्र आत्मा का योग्य भण्डारी होने के लिए, विश्वासी को उसके बारे में परमेश्वर के वचन से सीखना चाहिए। इसके बारे में मुख्य शिक्षाएँ यूहन्ना रचित सुसमाचार के 14 से 16 अध्यायों में दी गई हैं; और हम यहीं से इसी सन्दर्भ में पवित्र आत्मा के बारे में सीख रहे हैं। पहले यूहन्ना 14:16 को देख लेने के बाद अब हम यूहन्ना 14:17 को देख रहे हैं, जहाँ पर प्रभु यीशु ने पवित्र आत्मा के बारे में तीन बातें कही हैं। हम इनमें से पहली बात, पवित्र आत्मा सत्य का आत्मा है के अर्थ और अभिप्राय को देख चुके हैं, और अब पिछले लेख से हम ने इस पद में दिए गए दूसरे और तीसरे कथनों – “…जिसे संसार ग्रहण नहीं कर सकता, क्योंकि वह न उसे देखता है और न उसे जानता है…” को देखना आरंभ किया है। पिछले लेख में हम ने इस कथन के आरंभिक भाग “…जिसे संसार ग्रहण नहीं कर सकता …” को देखा था और शब्द ‘सँसार’ के अर्थ को तथा क्यों सँसार उसे ग्रहण नहीं कर सकता है को समझा था। आज से हम इस कथन के शेष भाग “…क्योंकि वह न उसे देखता है और न उसे जानता है…” को देखेंगे।

        हम शब्द ‘देखता’ का गलत अर्थ लगा सकते हैं कि यह पवित्र आत्मा को शारीरिक आँखों से देखने, उसके प्रत्यक्ष प्रकट होने की बात है, और इसलिए इस पद के अर्थ और तात्पर्य के बारे में असमंजस में पड़ सकते हैं। लेकिन इस से पहले कि हम इस अर्थ के उपयोग के द्वारा इस पद को समझने का प्रयास करें, हमें इस बात का ध्यान रखना चाहिए कि बाइबल की शिक्षा है कि किसी ने भी कभी भी परमेश्वर को नहीं देखा है, प्रभु यीशु, जो देह में अवतरित परमेश्वर हैं, ने उसे हम पर प्रकट किया है (निर्गमन 33:20; यूहन्ना 1:18; 1 यूहन्ना 4:12)। शब्द ‘देखना’ के सही अर्थ को समझने के लिए हमें इस शब्द को उसके मूल रूप में, मूल यूनानी भाषा में, जिस में से यह अनुवाद किया गया है, देखना होगा। यूनानी भाषा में जो शब्द उपयोग किया गया है वह ‘थ्योरियो’ है, जिसका अर्थ होता है ध्यान पूर्वक देखना, अर्थात, उद्यम के साथ उस पर ध्यान और विचार करना। इसलिए, प्रभु यीशु के शब्दों से अर्थ यह है कि सँसार पवित्र आत्मा के बारे में विचार या ध्यान नहीं करता है। मसीही विश्वासी के लिए इसका तात्पर्य है, जैसा कि इस पद के तीसरे भाग में भी दिया गया है, कि नया जन्म पाए हुए परमेश्वर के बच्चों को, जिन में पवित्र आत्मा निवास करता है, और उनकी सहायता, मार्गदर्शन करता है, जिन्हें सामर्थ्य प्रदान करता है, उन्हें उसे बड़े ध्यान से ‘देखना’ अर्थात उस पर ध्यान और विचार करना चाहिए। यह सामान्य जीवन का एक साधारण तथ्य है कि हम जितना अधिक किसी व्यक्ति या वस्तु के बारे में जानेंगे, उतना ही अधिक अच्छे से उसे उपयोग करने, उस के गुणों और योग्यताओं की सहायता लेने पाएंगे। उसी प्रकार से, मसीही विश्वासी जितना अधिक परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा के बारे में ध्यान और विचार करता है, उसके बारे में सीखता है, उतना ही बेहतर वह उसकी सहायता, मार्गदर्शन, और सामर्थ्य को लेने और उपयोग करने पाएगा, और परिणामस्वरूप उसका जीवन उतना अधिक आशीषित और सफल होगा।

इस वाक्याँश में प्रभु यीशु ने जो दूसरी बात कही है, वह है कि सँसार पवित्र आत्मा को नहीं जानता है। तो अब, हम उसे किस प्रकार से जान सकते हैं? यद्यपि विश्वासी भी उसे अपनी आँखों से देख नहीं सकते हैं, लेकिन फिर भी उसकी उपस्थिति को महसूस किया जा सकता है, पहचाना जा सकत है। प्रभु यीशु ने कहा है, “हवा जिधर चाहती है उधर चलती है, और तू उसका शब्द सुनता है, परन्तु नहीं जानता, कि वह कहां से आती और किधर को जाती है? जो कोई आत्मा से जन्मा है वह ऐसा ही है” (यूहन्ना 3:8)। हवा, जो कि अदृश्य होती है, के उदाहारण के द्वारा प्रभु ने समझाया है कि जिस प्रकार हवा के प्रभाव उसके उपस्थित होने का प्रमाण हैं, उसी प्रकार से विश्वासी के जीवन में पवित्र आत्मा के प्रभाव उस में उसकी उपस्थिति को प्रमाणित करते हैं, और उन से हम पवित्र आत्मा के बारे में जानने पाते हैं।

एक प्रभाव जिस के द्वारा हम व्यक्ति में पवित्र आत्मा की उपस्थिति को जानने पाते हैं है उस व्यक्ति में पवित्र आत्मा के कार्य के द्वारा उसका अंश-अंश कर के प्रभु यीशु की समानता में परिवर्तित होते चले जाना। यह बात 2 कुरिन्थियों 3:18 में कही गई है, जहाँ लिखा गया है कि पवित्र आत्मा अंश-अंश कर के निरन्तर विश्वासी को प्रभु की समानता में परिवर्तित करता रहता है। इसलिए, विश्वासी का निरन्तर मसीह की समानता और आत्मिक परिपक्वता में बढ़ते चले जाना उस के जीवन में पवित्र आत्मा के कार्यरत होने का एक प्रमाण है, जो पवित्र आत्मा के वास्तविक और क्रियाशील होने को भी दिखाता है और उसके बारे में जानने में भी सहायता करता है।

अगले लेख में हम मसीही विश्वासियों से सम्बंधित पवित्र आत्मा के अन्य प्रभावों के बारे में देखेंगे, और साथ ही बहुत ही संक्षिप्त रीति से यह भी देखेंगे के बहुधा बड़े जोर-शोर से कही जाने वाली “अन्य-भाषाएँ” क्यों न तो पवित्र आत्मा के होने का और न ही उसे जानने का प्रमाण हैं।

        यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु, मैं अपने पापों के लिए पश्चातापी हूँ, उनके लिए आप से क्षमा माँगता हूँ। मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मुझे और मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

English Translation

Holy Spirit & The World – 2

 

    We are studying about the Christian Believer being the steward of his God given provisions for leading a life that witnesses for the Lord, fulfils the ministry entrusted to him by God, and thereby makes his life blessed and successful by God, on earth as well as for all eternity. Amongst the various provisions given by God to His children – the Born-Again Christian Believers, God the Holy Spirit is given to every Believer the moment he is saved through coming to faith in the Lord Jesus. The Holy Spirit is given to be the Helper and Companion of every Believer, to teach and guide him in his Christian life and ministry. To be a worthy steward of the Holy Spirit, the Believer has to learn about Him from God’s Word. The main teachings for this are given in John’s gospel, chapters 14 to 16; and we are studying about the Holy Spirit in this context from these chapters. Having seen John 14:16, we are now considering John 14:17, where the Lord Jesus has stated three things about the Holy Spirit. We have already seen the meaning and implications of the first of these three, i.e., the Holy Spirit is the Spirit of Truth, and since the last article have started on the second and third statements in this verse - “…whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him…”. In the last article, we have seen about the first part of this statement, “…whom the world cannot receive…”, understood the meaning of ‘world’ and why the world cannot receive Him. From today we will consider the rest of this statement “…because it neither sees Him nor knows Him…”.

    

    We can misunderstand the word ‘sees’ as meaning to visualize or to see Him with our physical eyes, and therefore get confused about the meaning and implication of this word in this verse. But before we try to understand this verse by using this meaning, we need to remember that the Bible also teaches that no one has ever seen God, the Lord Jesus, God incarnated in flesh, has declared or manifested Him to us (Exodus 33:20; John 1:18; 1 John 4:12). To understand the proper meaning of the word ‘sees’, we need to look at the word used in the original Greek language, that has been translated as ‘sees’ in English. The word used in the Greek language is ‘theoreo’ which means to look upon closely, i.e., to diligently ponder over. So, from the Lord Jesus’s words, the world does not ponder over, or think about the Holy Spirit. For the Christian Believers, the implication, as stated in the third part of this verse, is that the Born-Again children of God, in whom God the Holy Spirit dwells, helps, guides, and empowers, should be diligently ‘seeing Him’, i.e., pondering over Him. It is a common-sense fact of life that the more and better we know about someone or something, the better we can utilize him, his abilities, and his services. Similarly, the more the Believer learns about and ponders about God the Holy Spirit, the better will he be able to utilize His help, guidance, and power for his life and ministry, and thereby the more blessed and successful he will be.

    The second thing the Lord Jesus has said in this phrase is that the world does not know the Holy Spirit. So, how can we know Him? Although, not even the Believers can see the Holy Spirit with their eyes, yet His presence can be known and perceived. The Lord Jesus has said, “The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear the sound of it, but cannot tell where it comes from and where it goes. So is everyone who is born of the Spirit” (John 3:8). Using the analogy of the wind which also is invisible, the Lord explained that just as the effects of the wind manifest and prove its presence, similarly, the effects of the Holy Spirit in a Believers life prove His presence in them and we can learn about the Holy Spirit.

    An effect by which we know of the presence of the Holy Spirit in a person is his gradual transformation into the likeness of the Lord Jesus by the working of Holy Spirit in his life. This has been stated in 2 Corinthians 3:18 it says that Holy Spirit is continually and gradually changing the Believers into the likeness of the Lord. So, this continual progressive change in the life of the Believer, his growing in ‘Christ-likeness’ and spiritually maturing, provides a way to show and know the working of the Holy Spirit in a Believer's life; an evidence of the Holy Spirit being real and working.

    In the next article we will see about the other effects of God the Holy Spirit residing in the Christian Believer, and will also very briefly see why the much touted ‘tongues’ is neither a proof of the presence of the Holy Spirit nor of knowing Him.

    इस वाक्याँश में प्रभु यीशु ने पवित्र आत्मा और सँसार के बारे में तीन बातें कही हैं; पहली, सँसार पवित्र आत्मा को ग्रहण नहीं कर सकता है, और फिर प्रभु उसके दो कारण बताता है – क्योंकि वह न तो उसे देखता है, और न ही उसे जानता है। बाइबल में शब्द ‘सँसार’ केवल इस भौतिक जगत के लिए ही उपयोग नहीं किया गया है, जिस में हम तथा अन्य सभी प्राणी रहते हैं। वरन पवित्र शास्त्र में ‘सँसार’ लोगों की एक श्रेणी भी है, वे लोग जो अभी तक परमेश्वर के परिवार का भाग नहीं बने हैं, क्योंकि वे परमेश्वर की सँतान नहीं है, चाहे उनके कर्म, जीवन, धर्म, और धार्मिक रीति-रिवाज़ कुछ भी हों, और इसमें इसाई धर्म तथा उसके सभी उप-समुदाय, दल, और डिनौमिनेशन भी सम्मिलित हैं। यह बात यूहन्ना 1:12-13, “परन्तु जितनों ने उसे ग्रहण किया, उसने उन्हें परमेश्वर के सन्तान होने का अधिकार दिया, अर्थात उन्हें जो उसके नाम पर विश्वास रखते हैं। वे न तो लोहू से, न शरीर की इच्छा से, न मनुष्य की इच्छा से, परन्तु परमेश्वर से उत्पन्न हुए हैं”, में बहुत स्पष्ट कही गई है कि परमेश्वर की सँतान होने के लिए व्यक्ति को ‘उसे’ ग्रहण करना पड़ता है, ‘उसके’ नाम पर विश्वास करना पड़ता है; जैसा हम इस से पहले और बाद के पदों के सन्दर्भ से देखते हैं, यह ‘उसे’ और ‘उसके’ प्रभु यीशु मसीह के लिए उपयोग हुआ है।

    इसलिए, परमेश्वर की सँतान होने के लिए, हर किसी को प्रभु यीशु को ग्रहण करना और उसमें विश्वास करना अनिवार्य है। यह अपने आप में व्यक्तिगत रीति से एक स्वेच्छा से और जानते-बूझते किए हुए निर्णय का तात्पर्य देता है; यह कोई ऐसी बात नहीं है जो विरासत में प्राप्त होती है या किसी परिवार-विशेष में जन्म लेने, और इसलिए उस परिवार के धार्मिक अनुष्ठानों और रीतियों का पालन करने के कारण मिल जाती है। यही बात यहाँ पद 13 में किसी भी तरह के संदेह की संभावना को हटाते हुए, के बिलकुल स्पष्ट कह दी गई है, “...वे न तो लोहू से, न शरीर की इच्छा से, न मनुष्य की इच्छा से, परन्तु परमेश्वर से उत्पन्न हुए हैं।” दूसरे शब्दों में, परमेश्वर की सँतान होने का मानवीय जन्म से कोई संबंध नहीं है। इस विशेषाधिकार को प्राप्त करने के लिए व्यक्ति को परमेश्वर से उत्पन्न होना पड़ेगा। प्रभु यीशु ने इसी बात पर यूहन्ना 3:3, 5 में निकुदेमुस से हुए अपने वार्तालाप में भी बल दिया था। निकुदेमुस फरीसियों का एक बहुत शिक्षित धार्मिक अगुवा था, जो प्रभु के पास परमेश्वर के राज्य में प्रवेश करने के बारे में सीखने के लिए आया था। उस धार्मिक अगुवे से भी, जो पवित्र शास्त्र को भली-भांति जानता था और व्यवस्था का कड़ाई से पालन करता था, प्रभु का यही कहना था कि उसे भी परमेश्वर के राज्य में प्रवेश करने के लिए नया-जन्म लेना ही पड़ेगा, जल और आत्मा से जन्म लेना होगा। अर्थात, परमेश्वर के राज्य में प्रवेश किसी भी प्रकार के धर्म या कर्म के द्वारा संभव नहीं है।

    जो प्रभु यीशु को ग्रहण करने और उसके नाम में विश्वास करने के द्वारा नया जन्म प्राप्त करते हैं, उन्हें परमेश्वर यह विशेषाधिकार प्रदान करता है कि वे परमेश्वर की सँतान हों। जिस पल वे विश्वास के द्वारा परमेश्वर की संतान बनते हैं, उसी पल परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा भी उन्हें दे दिया जाता है, जो उनमें आजीवन रहने के लिए आ जाता है। तो इस प्रकार से हमारे पास दो प्रकार के लोगों की श्रेणियाँ हो जाती हैं – एक वे जो परमेश्वर की सँतान, मसीह के संगी-वारिस हैं (रोमियों 8:17), और उन्हें यह विशेषाधिकार उनके किसी कर्मों, धर्म, परिवार के कारण नहीं मिला है; और सँसार, अर्थात वे जिन्होंने अभी भी व्यक्तिगत रीति से, यीशु को अपना प्रभु और उद्धारकर्ता ग्रहण नहीं किया है। ये लोग, जिन्होंने सँसार के लोगों के समान रहने का निर्णय किया है, फिर अपने इस चुनाव के कारण, अन्ततः उसी नियति को भोगेंगे जो सँसार की है – अनन्त विनाश।

    जिस पद को हम ले कर चल रहे हैं – यूहन्ना 14:17, उस में प्रभु यीशु मसीह ने एक निर्णयात्मक बात कही है, ‘सँसार पवित्र आत्मा को ग्रहण नहीं कर सकता है’ – पवित्र आत्मा, सत्य का आत्मा, कभी भी किसी भी ऐसी बात के साथ संलग्न नहीं होगा जो सत्य नहीं है। क्योंकि सारा सँसार उस दुष्ट के वश में है (1 यूहन्ना 5:19), इसलिए यह असंभव है कि पवित्र आत्मा किसी सँसार के व्यक्ति में निवास करे। उसे और उसकी सामर्थ्य को प्राप्त करने के लिए, व्यक्ति को स्वेच्छा से जानते-बूझते हुए सँसार से अलग हो कर परमेश्वर के राज्य में प्रवेश करने का निर्णय लेना होगा, जैसा कि अगले परिच्छेद में समझाया गया है। अगले लेख में हम यूहन्ना 14:17 के इस दूसरे वाक्याँश का अध्ययन ज़ारी रखेंगे।

    यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु, मैं अपने पापों के लिए पश्चातापी हूँ, उनके लिए आप से क्षमा माँगता हूँ। मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मुझे और मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

English Translation

Holy Spirit & The World – 1

 

    The Born-Again Christian Believers are the stewards of their provisions, given to them by God for their life of witnessing for the Lord and fulfilling the ministry entrusted to them by God. As the Lord Jesus has promised to His disciples, God has also given to them His Holy Spirit, to be their Helper and Companion, to teach and guide them in fulfilling their responsibilities. To be able to properly utilize the power of the Holy Spirit made available to them, the Believers have to learn about the Holy Spirit, instead of taking Him for granted, saying and doing whatever suits their fancy about Him. The Lord Jesus taught about the Holy Spirit to the disciples, and we find the Lord’s teachings about this mainly in John’s gospel, chapters 14 to 16. From these chapters we have been learning about the Believer being a steward of the Holy Spirit. For some time now, we have been looking at John 14:17, where the Lord Jesus has mentioned three things about the Holy Spirit. Of these three, we have considered the first one, that the Holy Spirit is the Spirit of Truth, and seen its various implications and applications. We will now look into the second thing mentioned by the Lord Jesus in this verse, about the Holy Spirit and the world, “…whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him…”.

    The Lord Jesus has said three things about the Holy Spirit and the world in this phrase; one, the world is unable to receive the Holy Spirit, and then He gives two reasons for it – because it neither sees Him, nor knows Him. In the Bible, the term ‘world’ is not only used for the physical world that we and all creatures live in. But ‘world’ is also used in the Scriptures for the category of people who, are not yet a part of the family of God, because they are not the children of God, no matter what their works, life, religion and religious practices may be, the Christian ‘religion’ and all its sects, groups, and denominations included. This has been made very clear in John 1:12-13, “But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God”, that to be a child of God one has to receive ‘Him’, to believe in ‘Him’; the ‘Him’, as we see from the context in the preceding and succeeding verses, is the Lord Jesus Christ.

    So, to be a child of God, everyone has to receive the Lord Jesus and believe in Him. This by itself implies a conscious, voluntary decision made by everyone individually; it is not something that is inherited or passed along by virtue of birth in a particular family, and therefore observing certain religious rites and rituals practiced by the family. This also has been made unambiguously clear in verse 13, “…who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.” In other words, human birth has nothing to do with being a child of God; to attain this privilege, one has to be born of God. The Lord Jesus emphasized this in John 3:3, 5, to Nicodemus, the learned religious leader of the Pharisees. Nicodemus had come to the Lord to learn from Him about entering the Kingdom of God, and the Lord’s answer even to that religious person, well versed in the Scriptures and strictly following the Law was that even he had to be Born-Again, of the water and the Spirit, to enter the God’s Kingdom, i.e., entering God’s Kingdom cannot be done through any works or religion.

    Those who are Born-Again by receiving the Lord Jesus and believing in His name, to them God gives the right, the privilege to become the children of God. The moment they become the children of God through faith, God the Holy Spirit is also given to them, to reside in them throughout their lives. So, we have two categories of people – those who are the children of God, the co-heirs with the Lord Jesus (Romans 8:17), and they have received this privilege not because of any works, religion, or family; and the world, i.e., those who have not yet personally and individually come to accept the Jesus as their Lord and savior. These, who have chosen to live according to and with the world, will then also, as per their choice, suffer the fate of the world – eternal destruction.

    In our lead verse – John 14:17, the Lord Jesus has made a categorical statement, ‘the world cannot receive the Holy Spirit’ – the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of Truth, will never in any manner be associated with anything that is not the truth. The whole world is under the influence of the evil one (1 John 5:19), therefore, it is impossible for the Spirit of Truth, God the Holy Spirit to be present in a person of the world. To receive Him and His power, one has to take the conscious voluntary decision to step away from the world, into the Kingdom of God, as explained in the next paragraph. In the next article we will continue to look into this second phrase of John 14:17.

    If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord, make your decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now to ensure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Repenting of your sins, and asking the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily and sincerely, surrendering yourself to Him - is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life.  Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.
