    परमेश्वर की आराधना करने से संबंधित हमारे इस अध्ययन में अभी तक हमने देखा है कि परमेश्वर की आराधना करने, अर्थात उसे हमारे होंठों के और हमारे जीवन के फलों को अर्पित करने के द्वारा हम अपने विश्वास में और अधिक बढ़ते हैं तथा हर परिस्थिति में और हर बात के लिए परमेश्वर पर भरोसा बनाए रखने में और अधिक दृढ़ होते जाते हैं। इससे हम अपने विश्वास में स्थिर और दृढ़ होकर खड़े रहने पाते हैं, जिससे शैतान की चालाकियों और युक्तियों में फँसने और गिरने से सुरक्षित बने रहते हैं। पिछले लेख में हमने देखा था कि आराधना किस प्रकार से हमारे विश्वास को दृढ़ करती है और शैतानी ताकतों के हमले के समय में हमारी सुरक्षा को बनाए रखती है। आज से हम, परमेश्वर के वचनों के उदाहरणों के द्वारा आराधना के कुछ व्यावहारिक प्रभावों और उपयोगिता के बारे में देखना आरंभ करेंगे। आज हम जो पहली बात देखेंगे, वह है “आराधना के द्वारा प्रार्थना का प्रभावी होना।”

    हम पहले देख चुके हैं कि पवित्र आत्मा की अगुवाई में पौलुस ने फिलिप्पियों 4:6 में निर्देश दिए हैं कि परमेश्वर के समक्ष प्रार्थनाएँ, धन्यवाद – जो आराधना का एक स्वरूप है, के साथ प्रस्तुत की जाएँ। हम पौलुस के लेखों से, उसकी पत्रियों से यह भी देखते हैं कि यह पौलुस का नियम था कि वह जिनके लिए प्रार्थना करता था, साथ ही उनके बारे में किसी-न-किसी बात के लिए धन्यवादी भी रहता था, उदाहरण के लिए देखिए फिलिप्पियों 1:3-4; कुलुस्सियों 1:3; 1 थिस्सलुनीकियों 1:2; 2 तीमुथियुस 1:3; फिलेमोन 1:4; आदि - इन पदों के उदाहरण से हम सीखते हैं कि पौलुस के जीवन में धन्यवाद और प्रार्थना साथ-साथ चलते थे; जिनके लिए वह प्रार्थना करता था, उनके लिए वह परमेश्वर का धन्यवाद भी करता था। हम आराधना के द्वारा प्रार्थना के प्रभावी होने के दो उदाहरण देखेंगे एक नए नियम से और दूसरा पुराने नियम से।

    नए नियम से हम प्रभु यीशु द्वारा मत्ती 6:9-13 में सिखाए गए प्रार्थना के नमूने को देखते हैं, जिसे सामान्यतः “प्रभु की प्रार्थना” कहा जाता है। आज, सभी डिनॉमिनेशंस के लोग इसे एक रीति या परंपरा के समान, एक रटी हुई प्रार्थना के रूप में हर अवसर पर बोल देते हैं, बिना इसके अर्थ अथवा उपयोगिता को जाने या समझे। जिस प्रकार से आज इसका उपयोग किया जा रहा है, वैसे उपयोग के लिए यह प्रार्थना कभी दी ही नहीं गई थी। यह तो प्रभु द्वारा शिष्यों के सिखाया गया प्रार्थना का एक नमूना, एक ढाँचा था, जिस पर आधारित होकर शिष्यों को व्यक्तिगत रीति से अपनी प्रार्थना को करना था। जब हम इसे बाइबल में पढ़ते हैं तो देखते हैं कि इसका आरंभ पद 9 और 10 में आराधना के साथ होता है - परमेश्वर के गुणानुवाद या गुणगान के साथ, परमेश्वर के राज्य और इच्छा की बड़ाई करते हुए, और इन्हें पृथ्वी पर भी स्थापित होते देखने की लालसा को व्यक्त करने के साथ। फिर पद 11 से लेकर पद 13 के आरंभिक भाग तक निवेदनों का खण्ड है; और प्रार्थना का अन्त फिर से पद 13 के दूसरे भाग में परमेश्वर के गुणानुवाद, उसकी आराधना के साथ होता है। इस प्रकार से हम सीधे प्रभु यीशु द्वारा शिष्यों को सिखाए गए प्रार्थना के नमूने से ही सीखते हैं कि प्रार्थना के साथ आराधना का क्या महत्व है; प्रार्थना का आरंभ और अन्त दोनों आराधना के साथ होना चाहिए।

    राजा यहोशापात की प्रार्थना, जो पद 6 से 12 में दी गई है, की पृष्ठभूमि और उत्तर को समझने के लिए, कृपया पुराने नियम में से 2 इतिहास 20:1-17 को पढ़िए। यहोशापात एक परमेश्वर के भय में चलने तथा राज्य करने वाला राजा था (2 इतिहास 19:4-11)। अब परमेश्वर यहोशापात को आशीष देने जा रहा अता; किन्तु यह आशीष एक परेशानी के भेस में उसके पास आई; हम इसे आगे के एक लेख में कुछ और विस्तार से देखेंगे। जैसा हम 2 इतिहास 20:1 से देखते हैं, तीन सामर्थी राजा गठबंधन कर के यहोशापात पर आक्रमण करने के लिए निकले। जब यहोशापात को इस विनाशकारी स्थित का पता चला, यह जानते हुए कि उसमें इतनी सामर्थ्य नहीं है कि वह स्थिति का सामना कर सके, वह उन से छुटकारे के समाधान के लिए परमेश्वर के पास गया और अपनी प्रजा के लोगों को भी साथ ले गया (पद 3-4)। पद 5 से 12 में दी गई उसकी प्रार्थना पर ध्यान कीजिए; पद 6 से लेकर 11 तक केवल परमेश्वर की आराधना है - परमेश्वर का गुणानुवाद, उसके चरित्र और गुणों को याद करना, उसके किए कार्यों को दोहराना; अविश्वासी अन्य-जाति लोगों के प्रति भी, जो परमेश्वर के लोगों के विरुद्ध थे, परमेश्वर के व्यवहार को स्मरण करना। फिर इसके बाद, पद 11 में आकर प्रार्थना है, जिसमें वह पहले अपनी अयोग्यता और परिस्थिति का सामना करने में असमर्थ होने का अंगीकार करता है, और फिर परिस्थिति को परमेश्वर के हाथों में सौंप देता है। ध्यान कीजिए, यहोशापात कहीं पर भी परमेश्वर को कोई निर्देश नहीं देता है कि क्या करना चाहिए, कैसे करना चाहिए; वह केवल अपनी परिस्थिति परमेश्वर के सामने बयान कर के, आगे उसके साथ क्या करना है, उसे परमेश्वर पर ही छोड़ देता है कि उसके लिए जो भी वह करना चाहे, जैसे भी वह करना चाहे। और फिर से पद 13 से 17 में उसकी आराधना और प्रार्थना के लिए परमेश्वर का उत्तर है; उसे विजयी होने, और परमेश्वर में होकर सुरक्षित बने रहने का आश्वासन मिलता है। इसकी तुलना में आज हमारी प्रार्थनाएँ कितनी भिन्न होती हैं; आज ऐसी किसी परिस्थिति में यदि हम हों तो हम अपना अधिकांश समय परमेश्वर से शिकायत करने, विलाप करने, कुड़कुड़ाने और खिसियाने में बिताते हैं, और साथ ही उसे यह भी बताते हैं कि उसे क्या करना है, कैसे करना है। लेकिन यहोशापात ने इस गंभीर परिस्थिति में पहले अपनी प्रजा को एकत्रित किया और उनके साथ परमेश्वर की आराधना की, उसका गुणानुवाद किया, और फिर परिस्थिति को उसके हाथों में सौंप कर शांत हो गया, परमेश्वर पर छोड़ दिया कि जो भी उसे उचित लगे वही करे।

    हम इन उदाहरणों तथा परमेश्वर के वचन के अन्य पदों से देखते हैं कि आराधना हमें सही रीति से प्रार्थना करने में सहायता करती है, और उन प्रार्थनाओं को परमेश्वर की सामर्थ्य के द्वारा प्रभावी बनाती है। इन दोनों ही उदाहरणों में एक बात पर ध्यान कीजिए; जो बाइबल के ऐसे ही अन्य उदाहरणों के साथ सामान्य है। ये दोनों, तथा ऐसे ही अन्य उदाहरण भी, परमेश्वर के प्रति वास्तव में समर्पित और उसके प्रतिबद्ध विश्वासी लोगों की प्रार्थना और और आराधना को दिखाते हैं। तात्पर्य यह, कि जो लोग सच में परमेश्वर को समर्पित हैं, उसके प्रति विश्वास में प्रतिबद्ध हैं, उनकी आराधना का स्तर ही भिन्न होगा, और उनकी प्रार्थनाएँ, उनका परमेश्वर से कुछ माँगना, न केवल संक्षिप्त और मुद्दे के अनुसार होगा, बल्कि प्रभावी भी होगा - उन्हें बातों को घुमा-फिरा कर, लम्बे वर्णन के साथ कहने की आवश्यकता ही नहीं होगी। अर्थात्, ऐसी प्रभावी आराधना और प्रार्थना के लिये परमेश्वर के साथ एक सही सम्बन्ध में होना आवश्यक है। और आज हम परमेश्वर के साथ ऐसे सम्बन्ध में, स्वेच्छा से, बिना किसी लालच या दबाव के, प्रभु यीशु मसीह पर विश्वास करने, समस्त मानव-जाति के लिये किये गए उसके पाप-क्षमा और उद्धार के कार्य को स्वीकार करने, अपना जीवन उसे समर्पित करने के द्वारा आते हैं।

    यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए – उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

Worship – For Effective Prayers

    In our study on worshipping God, we have seen so far, that worshipping God, i.e., giving to Him the fruits of our lips and of our lives make us grow strong in our faith and to trust God even more, in all circumstances and for all things, which then keeps us firmly established in our faith in God and helps keeps us from falling for the wiles of the devil that he keeps working against us. In the last article we had seen how worship strengthens our faith and ensures our safety when we face satanic attacks of various kinds. From today we will start considering some practical effects and applications of worshipping God, from the examples given in God’s Word the Bible. The first thing we will consider is that “Worship makes our prayers effective.”

    We have seen earlier that Paul, through the Holy Spirit instructs in Philippians 4:6, to offer our prayers to God with Thanksgiving, which is a form of Worshipping God. We also see from Paul’s writings and letters that it was Paul’s habit to associate his prayers, with thanksgiving – a form of worship, for the subject of his prayers, e.g., Philippians 1:3-4; Colossians 1:3; 1 Thessalonians 1:2; 2 Timothy 1:3; Philemon 1:4; etc. - we see from these verses that in Paul’s life prayers and thanksgiving went hand-in-hand; those whom he prayed for, he also made it a point to thank God for them. We will see two examples of prayer being made effective by worshipping, one from the New Testament, and the other from the Old Testament.

    In the New Testament, let us consider the model prayer taught by the Lord, in Matthew 6:9-13; commonly called “The Lord’s Prayer”. Today, this prayer is repeated by rote, in all denominational Churches, on all occasions, and people just mumble it ritualistically, without any consideration of its meaning or application. This prayer was never meant to be used the way it is being used now; it was given only to serve as a model, upon which the disciples of the Lord were to base and offer their personal prayers. When we read this prayer in the Bible, we see that it starts with Worship in verses. 9 & 10 – by exalting and praising God, extolling God’s kingdom and will, and desiring that they are present on earth just as they are in heaven. From verse 11 to 13a is the section of petitioning God; and the prayer then ends with Worship through exalting God in verse 13b. So, we have it directly from the Lord Jesus, in the model prayer that He taught to His disciples, the necessity and importance of worshipping God even when offering prayers to Him; prayers should begin and end with worship.

    To understand the background and the result of King Jehoshaphat’s prayer which is given in verse 6 to 12, please read 2 Chronicles 20:1-17, from the Old Testament. Jehoshaphat was a Godly king, ruling his kingdom in the fear of the Lord (2 Chronicles 19:4-11). God was now going to bless Jehoshaphat; we will take this up in some detail later under a separate heading; but this blessing came disguised as an adversity. As we see from 2 Chronicles 20:1, three mighty kings got together against him, to attack him. When Jehoshaphat heard of this impending disaster, being aware of his own inability to handle the situation, he went to God to provide to him the way out, and also took his people with him to petition God for their deliverance (verses 3-4). Study his prayer given in verse 5 to12; from verse 6 to 11 is pure worship – exalting God, recalling His character and deeds; God’s behavior even towards the ungodly gentiles who were unfavorable towards the people of God. Then finally in verse 11 is the actual prayer – he first acknowledges his inadequacy and inability to handle the situation, then simply turns the matter over into God’s hands. Jehoshaphat never instructs God what to do and how, he simply puts his need before God and leaves Him to do whatever He wants to do, and however He wants to do. From verse 13 to 17 is God’s answer to his worship and prayer, an assurance of victory, of safety through God’s presence. This is so unlike the way we are used to praying today, where we spend most of the time complaining and lamenting before God and also telling Him what to do and how to do it. But Jehoshaphat, in the face of dire adversity first got his people together with him and worshipped God, exalted Him, and then simply placed the matter into God’s hands and stepped back; leaving it to God to whatever He thought was appropriate.

    So, we see from these examples and other verses from God’s Word that worship helps us to pray worthily and makes our prayers more effective through the power of God. Take not of one thing that is common to both these examples, and also common with other similar examples given in God’s Word. Both these examples, as well as other similar examples in God’s Word of worship and prayer, are those of people who were really surrendered to Him, were His committed Believers. In other words, those who are really surrendered to God, are actually committed in their faith towards Him, their worship will be at an altogether different level, and their prayers, their asking God for something, will not only be concise and to-the-point, but also be effective – they don’t need to say long-drawn out prayer, meandering here and there in their words. So, for such effective worship and prayer one needs to be in a correct relationship with God. Today, we can come into such a relationship with God, by voluntarily, without any greed or pressure, coming into faith in the Lord Jesus, accepting His work for forgiveness of sins and salvation of all of mankind, and surrendering our lives to Him.

    If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord Jesus, then to ensure your eternal life and heavenly rewards, take a decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now. Wherever there is surrender and obedience towards the Lord Jesus, the Lord’s blessings and safety are also there. If you are still not Born Again, have not obtained salvation, or have not asked the Lord Jesus for forgiveness for your sins, then you have the opportunity to do so right now. A short prayer said voluntarily with a sincere heart, with heartfelt repentance for your sins, and a fully submissive attitude, “Lord Jesus, I confess that I have disobeyed You, and have knowingly or unknowingly, in mind, in thought, in attitude, and in deeds, committed sins. I believe that you have fully borne the punishment of my sins by your sacrifice on the cross, and have paid the full price of those sins for all eternity. Please forgive my sins, change my heart and mind towards you, and make me your disciple, take me with you." God longs for your company and wants to see you blessed, but to make this possible, is your personal decision. Will you not say this prayer now, while you have the time and opportunity to do so – the decision is yours.

व्यावहारिक मसीही जीवन से सम्बन्धित बातों के बारे हम अभी प्रेरितों 2:42 में दी गई चार बातों में से चौथी बात, प्रार्थना करने के बारे में, परमेश्वर के वचन में दी गई सम्बन्धित बातों के उदाहरणों और हवालों से देख रहे हैं। प्रार्थना से सम्बन्धित कुछ भ्रांतियों, गलत शिक्षाओं, और अनुचित धारणाओं को देखने के बाद, अब हम मसीहियों में बहुत आम तौर से बोली जाने वाली “प्रभु की प्रार्थना” के बारे देख रहे हैं। हमने देखा है कि बाइबल में इस “प्रार्थना” के बारे में जो लिखा गया है और जिस तरह से इसे उपयोग किया गया है, उससे यही लगता है कि यह प्रभु यीशु द्वारा रटने और बारम्बार, हर अवसर पर, बिना इस समझे या इसके बारे में विचार किए, यूँ ही बोलते रहने के लिए दी गई कोई प्रार्थना नहीं है। बल्कि प्रभु के द्वारा परमेश्वर से सही रीति से, कारगर प्रार्थना करने की एक रूपरेखा, एक ढाँचा है, जिसके आधार पर, या जिसके अनुसार प्रभु के अनुयायियों को अपनी प्रार्थनाओं को स्वरूप देना है। आज हम इसी बात को, “प्रभु की प्रार्थना” की रूपरेखा या ढाँचे को, बहुत संक्षेप में देखना और समझना आरम्भ करेंगे। इसके लिए हम मत्ती 6:5-15 का उपयोग करेंगे, क्योंकि न केवल यह अधिक विस्तृत है, वरन यह प्रभु द्वारा पहली बार कहा गया स्वरूप भी है।

 

प्रभु द्वारा दिए गए पहाड़ी उपदेश के प्रार्थना से सम्बन्धित इस खण्ड में प्रभु ने अपने शिष्यों से परमेश्वर से प्रार्थना करने केवल एक स्वरूप को ही नहीं दिया है, वरन प्रार्थना करने से पहले की बातों और तैयारियों के बारे में भी बताया है। यहाँ पर, पद 5 में हम देखते हैं कि परमेश्वर पिता से प्रार्थना करने, खराई से उससे वार्तालाप करने की पहली तैयारी, उसकी आधारभूत बात है, प्रार्थना को करने के मर्म को समझना। यह ध्यान रखना और उसका पालन करना कि जो हम करने जा रहे हैं, वह लोगों को दिखाने, उनकी प्रशंसा और सराहना प्राप्त करने के लिए नहीं है। मत्ती 6:5-15, कुल 11 पदों का एक छोटा सा खण्ड है, और इन 11 पदों में ‘प्रार्थना’ के शब्द, पद 9-13, अर्थात 5 पदों में दिए गए हैं। इन पदों में व्यक्त की गई बात, सिखाई गई शिक्षाएं, बहुत सीधे और साधारण शब्दों तथा वाक्यों में हैं। यहाँ पर न तो किसी प्रकार की कोई वाक्पटुता दिखाई गई है, और न ही कोई आलंकारिक भाषा प्रयोग की गई है। थोड़े से शब्दों में इतना कुछ कहा गया है, और इस तरह से कहा गया है जो लोगों से अपनी लम्बी-लम्बी प्रार्थनाओं में नहीं कहा जाता है। परमेश्वर से प्रार्थना करने के लिए, प्रभु का पहला निर्देश है कि अपने आप को परमेश्वर को सम्बोधित करने के लिए तैयार करें, न कि परमेश्वर से प्रार्थना करने के नाम पर, लोगों को दिखाने, सुनाने, उन्हें प्रभावित करने, और लोगों से ही प्रशंसा और सराहना प्राप्त करने का प्रयास करें। जिनकी प्रार्थनाएं लोगों को सुनाने, अपनी वाक्पटुता और आलंकारिक भाषा का उदाहरण प्रस्तुत करने के लिए होती हैं, इस पद में प्रभु उन्हें सचेत करते हुए स्पष्ट कह देता है कि “वे अपना प्रतिफल पा चुके।” अब वे पिता परमेश्वर से किसी प्रतिफल की, प्रार्थना के किसी और उत्तर की कोई आशा नहीं रखें। प्रभु की बात का कुल निचोड़ है कि प्रार्थना सीधी, स्पष्ट, संक्षिप्त हो; परमेश्वर से बात करना हो, न कि लोगों को सुनाने और प्रभावित करने के लिए की गई हो।

इसी बात को आगे बढ़ाते हुए, प्रभु यीशु ने पद 6 में कहा है कि यदि वास्तव में परमेश्वर के साथ बातचीत करनी है, तो उस बातचीत में बाधा डालने वाली बातों और परिस्थितियों से बचकर, एक ऐसे स्थान में परमेश्वर से वार्तालाप करना चाहिए, जहाँ ध्यान बँटाने वाली कोई बात, कोई परिस्थिति न हो। स्वाभाविक है कि जब प्रार्थनाएं एकांत में की जाएंगी, तो अधिक यथार्थ पूर्ण होंगी, साफ, सीधे, और स्पष्ट शब्दों में की जाएंगी। जो प्रार्थनाएं गुप्त में की जाएंगी, पद 5 की बात की तुलना में, उनके प्रतिफल मनुष्यों से नहीं परमेश्वर से मिलेंगे। अब यहाँ पर इस पद के इस अंतिम वाक्य की रचना पर ध्यान कीजिए; प्रभु ने ऐसी प्रार्थना के लिए अपने शिष्यों से कहा “...तुझे प्रतिफल देगा।” अर्थात, यह होना कोई सम्भावना नहीं, वरन अवश्यंभावी है। जब प्रभु के शिष्य, मनुष्यों से मुँह मोड़कर, अपने आप को परमेश्वर से जोड़कर, मनुष्यों को दिखाने, सुनाने, प्रभावित करने के लिए नहीं बल्कि सच्चे मन से, परमेश्वर से सीधे, स्पष्ट शब्दों में अपने आप परमेश्वर के सामने व्यक्त करते हैं, तो परमेश्वर भी उनकी सुनता है, उन्हें उत्तर देता है। यहाँ पर यह निहित है कि, यह स्वाभाविक है कि जब प्रभु का सच्चा शिष्य, परमेश्वर से अपने मन की बात कहेगा और माँगेगा, तो वह कुछ अनुचित अथवा परमेश्वर के गुणों से असंगत नहीं होगा। जबकि लोगों को सुनाने, प्रभावित करने के लिए की गई प्रार्थनाओं में लोगों की इच्छा और प्रसन्नता के अनुसार बातें होंगी, चाहे वे परमेश्वर की इच्छा और प्रसन्नता के अनुसार न भी हों। इसलिए ऐसी प्रार्थनाओं का परमेश्वर से उत्तर मिलने की सम्भावना भी नहीं है। इस पद का यह अर्थ नहीं है कि सामूहिक प्रार्थनाएं नहीं की जानी चाहिएं या सभाओं में की गई प्रार्थनाओं का परमेश्वर उत्तर नहीं देगा। प्रभु के शिष्य सभाओं में, या सामूहिक प्रार्थनाएं भी लोगों की परवाह किए बिना ही सीधी और स्पष्ट कर सकते हैं, खराई से अपने आप को परमेश्वर के सम्मुख व्यक्त कर सकते हैं; और तब परमेश्वर उन शिष्यों की प्रार्थनाओं को सुनेगा, उनका उत्तर देगा।

अगले लेख में हम प्रार्थना पर प्रभु की इस शिक्षा पर, इस खण्ड से विचार करना ज़ारी रखेंगे।

The Four Pillars of Christian Living - 4 - Prayer (23)

Presently we are considering the fourth of the four things related to practical Christian living, given in Acts 2:42, i.e., prayer, through the examples and references given in God’s Word about it. Having considered some wrong notions, false teachings, and inappropriate concepts about prayer, we are now considering the very commonly spoken “Lord’s prayer.” We have seen from what is written about this ‘prayer’ and the way this ‘prayer’ has been used in the Bible, that this is not a ‘prayer’ to be spoken by rote on all occasions, without understanding or pondering over it. Rather, it is an outline, a framework given by the Lord, based on which the Christians should mold their prayers, for their prayers to be effective. Today we will begin considering and understanding this outline or framework or effectively praying to God, briefly. For this we will use Matthew 6:5-15, since not only is this somewhat more detailed, but is also the first form of what the Lord has said about this “prayer.”

In this section from the Sermon on the Mount spoken by the Lord regarding prayer, not only has He spoken about praying, but also about the preliminary preparations related to praying. Here, in verse 5, we see that for praying to God, for sincerely conversing with Him, the initial preparation, the basic requirement is to first understand the essence of praying to God. To recognize, and observe the basic fact that what we are going to do, is not to show-off to the people, nor is it for being appreciated and commended by people. The things that have been spoken here in these verses, the teachings that have been given here, are all in very simple and straightforward words and sentences. There is no usage of any eloquence, nor of any ornamental or figurative language here. Stil, in these few words and verses so much has been said, and has been said in a manner that people are unable to say in the long and verbose prayers they say. For praying to God, the first instruction given by the Lord is that we should first prepare ourselves to express ourselves to God, instead of trying to show-off to people and impress them, to get their admiration and acclaim, in the name of praying to God. Those who pray to get the admiration and acclaim of the people, who use eloquent and ornamental or figurative language to impress people in the name of prayer, the Lord very clearly says something to them in this verse to caution them, “...they have their reward.” Now they should not expect anything more as an answer to their prayers from God the Father. The essence of what the Lord has said is that the prayers should be straightforward, clear, and to-the-point; they should be for conversing with God, not to impress people, to show-off to them.

Carrying this same thought ahead, in verse 6 the Lord has said that if one really wants to converse with God, then it should be done in a place where there are no disturbances and distractions that interfere in this conversation with God. It is only natural that when prayers are said in solitude, they will be more realistic, and in a clear, simple, and straightforward manner. The prayers that are said in secret, in contrast to the kind of prayers said in verse 5, their rewards will be given not by men, but by God. Now, pay attention to the construction of this sentence; the Lord has said for such a prayer that God “...will reward you openly.” In other words, the answer to such prayers is not a possibility, but a certainty. When the disciples of the Lord turn away from impressing people, instead of trying to impress people and show-off to them, truly join themselves with God, converse with God and express themselves in a clear, straightforward, to-the-point manner, then God too listens to them and answers them. It is implied over here that when a true disciple of the Lord will express his heart to the Lord and ask for something, then it will not be something that is inappropriate or inconsistent with the attributes of God. In contrast, the prayers made to impress people and to show-off to them will be of the kind that the people like to hear, whether or not their content is consistent with what God wants to hear. Therefore, there is no possibility of such prayers being heard or answered. This verse should not be taken to mean that it forbids the praying in a gathering or that God will not answer corporate prayers. The disciples of the Lord can, even in assemblies and gathering, in corporate settings, pray without being concerned about the people present, in a simple, straightforward, clear manner, express themselves sincerely to God; and then God will listen to their prayers and answer them.

You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life.  Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.

व्यावहारिक मसीही जीवन के लिए अनिवार्य चार बातें प्रेरितों 2:42 में दी गई हैं, जिनका पालन आरम्भिक मसीही विश्वासी लौलीन होकर करते थे। इसी कारण वे हर प्रकार की परिस्थितियों का सामना करते हुए भी अपने विश्वास में दृढ़ बने रहे, आत्मिक जीवनों में उन्नति करते गए, और कलीसियाएं भी बढ़ती चली गईं। क्योंकि आज के मसीही इन बातों को एक परम्परा के समान लेते हैं और औपचारिकता के समान उन्हें पूरा करते हैं, इसलिए न तो वे अपने आत्मिक जीवनों में बढ़ रहे हैं, और न ही कलीसियाएँ बढ़ रही हैं। इन चार में से पहली बात है परमेश्वर के वचन का अध्ययन करना, उसे सीखना; और क्योंकि सामान्यतः यह मसीहियों के जीवनों में नहीं हो रहा है, इसीलिए शैतान ने अवसर पाकर अनेकों गलत शिक्षाएं और अनुचित धारणाएं मसीहियों में घुसा और बैठा दी हैं। हम इस अध्ययन में इन चारों बातों के परमेश्वर के वचन बाइबल में दिए गए सही स्वरूप और उनके सही निर्वाह के बारे में सीखते आ रहे हैं। पहली तीन बातों पर विचार करने के बाद, अब हम चौथी बात, प्रार्थना करने के बारे में बाइबल से सीख रहे हैं। अभी तक हम सीख चुके हैं कि प्रार्थना करना परमेश्वर से कुछ माँगना या पूरा करने के लिए कहना ही नहीं है, वरन परमेश्वर से वार्तालाप करना है। परमेश्वर को अपनी बात बताना, और उससे उसकी बात सुनना है। शैतान की युक्तियों से सुरक्षित रहने के लिए, परमेश्वर चाहता है कि मसीही विश्वासी, निरन्तर, हर बात के लिए, उसके साथ प्रार्थना में जुड़े रहें। हमने यह भी देखा है कि एक आम किन्तु गलत धारणा के विपरीत, परमेश्वर ने हर किसी से यह प्रतिज्ञा नहीं की है कि वह सभी की और हर तरह की प्रार्थनाओं का सकारात्मक उत्तर देगा। परमेश्वर ने अपने वचन में लिखवा रखा है कि वह किन लोगों की और कैसी प्रार्थनाओं का सकारात्मक उत्तर देगा। इसी से सम्बन्धित एक अन्य गलत धारणा मसीहियों में प्रचलित है कि परमेश्वर “विश्वास से” और “यीशु के नाम में” माँगी गई प्रार्थनाओं का सकारात्मक उत्तर देगा। पिछले कुछ लेखों से हम इसके बारे में वचन के हवालों और उदाहरणों से सीखते आ रहे हैं कि प्रभु यीशु ने यह बात किन लोगों की और कैसी प्रार्थनाओं के बारे में कही है। पिछले लेख में हमने प्रेरितों 3:1-16 से “विश्वास से” और “यीशु के नाम में” माँगने के उदाहरण को देखा और समझा था। आज हम इसी विषय से सम्बन्धित वचन की कुछ और बातों को देखेंगे।

 

क्योंकि पुराने नियम के काल में यह “विश्वास से” और “यीशु के नाम में” प्रार्थनाओं को माँगने का कोई औचित्य, कोई सम्भावना नहीं थी, इसलिए हम इस बात के लिए पुराने नियम की प्रार्थनाओं पर विचार नहीं करेंगे। जब हम नए नियम में लिखी हुई लोगों की प्रार्थनाओं को देखते हैं, तो चाहे प्रार्थनाएं माँगने वाले सामान्य लोग थे, अथवा प्रभु के सच्चे, समर्पित, आज्ञाकारी विश्वासी, हमें शायद ही कोई प्रार्थना मिलती है जिसमें प्रार्थना करने वाले ने इनमें से किसी भी वाक्यांश के आधार पर अपनी प्रार्थना माँगी हो। एक उदाहरण को हम पिछले लेख में अवश्य देख चुके हैं, लेकिन वास्तव में यह भी स्वयं के लिए की गई प्रार्थना नहीं, बल्कि किसी अन्य को चंगाई देने के लिए कही गई बात है। ऐसे ही “यीशु के नाम में” प्रेरितों 9:33-34 में पतरस द्वारा ऐनियास नामक एक झोले के मारे हुए को चंगा करने और प्रेरितों 16:18 में भावी कहने वाली लड़की में से दुष्टात्मा को निकालने का उल्लेख है। प्रेरितों के काम पुस्तक में अन्य कई चंगाइयों का, दुष्टात्माओं को निकालने का, मृतकों को जीवित करने का, यहाँ तक कि पतरस की परछाई (प्रेरितों 5:15-16) और पौलुस की देह को छूए हुए रुमाल और अँगोछो (प्रेरितों 19:11-12) के द्वारा चंगाई का भी उल्लेख है। किन्तु उपरोक्त तीन चंगाइयों के “यीशु के नाम में” किए जाने के अतिरिक्त, अन्य किसी भी आश्चर्यकर्म में वाक्यांश “यीशु के नाम में” का कोई उल्लेख नहीं है। प्रेरितों और प्रभु के लोगों की किसी भी प्रकार की प्रार्थनाओं में भी इस वाक्यांश का प्रयोग किया जाना नहीं मिलता है। यह, आज मसीहियों द्वारा इस वाक्यांश के लगभग हर बात, हर प्रार्थना के लिए उपयोग करने और प्रार्थना को प्रभावी बनाने, परमेश्वर को माँगे के अनुसार करने के लिए बाध्य करने की प्रवृत्ति के प्रतिकूल है। इससे यह बात विचार योग्य है कि यदि उन आरम्भिक मसीही विश्वासियों और प्रभु के सच्चे समर्पित, आज्ञाकारी शिष्यों को अपनी प्रार्थनाओं में इस वाक्यांश “यीशु के नाम में” को उपयोग करने की कोई विशेष आवश्यकता नहीं थी, उनकी प्रार्थनाएं वैसे ही प्रभावी और क्रियाशील थीं, तो आज के मसीही विश्वासियों के इस वाक्यांश के इतना प्रयोग करने के बावजूद, उनकी प्रार्थनाएं उसी तरह से प्रभावी और क्रियाशील क्यों नहीं हैं? क्या आज के मसीहियों के द्वारा इस वाक्यांश का इस तरह से प्रयोग करना परमेश्वर के वचन के व्यावहारिक उपयोग के उदाहरणों से सुसंगत और उचित है?

 

इसी प्रकार से बहुतायत से प्रयोग किया जाने वाला दूसरा वाक्यांश है “विश्वास से” माँगना। जब प्रभु के शिष्यों ने प्रभु से प्रार्थना करना सिखाने के लिए कहा, तब प्रभु ने उन्हें जो प्रार्थना सिखाई (लूका 11:1-4), और प्रार्थना करने का जैसा स्वरूप और शिक्षा प्रभु ने अपने पहाड़ी सन्देश में अपने शिष्यों को दिया था (मत्ती 6:5-13), उन प्रार्थनाओं में कहीं भी इन दोनों वाक्यांशों, “यीशु के नाम में” माँगने और “विश्वास से” माँगने में से किसी का कोई उल्लेख नहीं है। सम्पूर्ण नए नियम में, प्रभु के लोगों की ऐसी कोई भी प्रार्थना नहीं है जिसे प्रभावी और क्रियाशील बनाने के लिए उन्होंने उसे “विश्वास से” कहकर माँगा हो। किसी को भी, किसी भी बात के लिए, यह वाक्यांश कहने की कभी आवश्यकता ही नहीं हुई। सुसमाचारों में प्रभु द्वारा “विश्वास से” उससे कुछ माँगने, या करवाने के कई उदाहरण हैं। किन्तु सुसमाचारों के इन उदाहरणों के अतिरिक्त पूरे नए नियम में, केवल याकूब 1:6 में, केवल एक बार “विश्वास से” कुछ माँगने के लिए कहा गया है; और वह भी जिसे बुद्धि की घटी है, उसे परमेश्वर से, बिना सन्देह किए, “विश्वास से” बुद्धि माँगने के लिए कहा गया है। सुसमाचारों में भी प्रभु यीशु ने जब लोगों को चंगा किया, उनकी प्रार्थना या इच्छा के अनुसार उनके लिए किया, तब उनके द्वारा उससे “विश्वास से” चंगाई माँगने, या प्रभु पर विश्वास रखने के लिए उनकी सराहना के रूप में इस बात को कहा है। प्रभु यीशु ने अपने शिष्यों से अवश्य यह कहा है कि वे “विश्वास से” जो भी माँगेंगे, वह परमेश्वर द्वारा पूरा किया जाएगा; और हम इसे पहले के एक लेख में समझ चुके हैं कि वचन के अनुसार इसका क्या अर्थ और तात्पर्य है।

इन दोनों वाक्यांशों के बारे में बाइबल की बातों और हवालों को देखने से जो बात हमारे सामने आती है, वह यही प्रकट करती है कि आज जिस तरह से इन दोनों वाक्यांशों को प्रयोग करना कहा और सिखाया जाता है, वह बाइबल के अनुसार उनका सही स्वरूप और प्रयोग नहीं है। प्रभु ने ये दोनों बातें जन साधारण के द्वारा किसी भी प्रार्थना को उचित और मान्य बनाने, परमेश्वर को माँगी गई बात को पूरा करने के लिए बाध्य करने के लिए नहीं कहीं थीं। बल्कि ये दोनों बातें प्रभु ने अपने सच्चे, समर्पित, और आज्ञाकारी शिष्यों के उपयोग के लिए कहीं थीं। परमेश्वर उन शिष्यों की भी उन प्रार्थनाओं को ही पूरा करता है जो उसकी इच्छा के अनुसार और वचन से सुसंगत बातों के लिए होती हैं। अगले लेख से हम यहाँ से आगे देखना आरम्भ करेंगे।

The Four Pillars of Christian Living - 4 - Prayer (20)

In Acts 2:42, four things related to practical Christian living have been given, which the initial Christian Believers observed steadfastly. Therefore, they remained strong and firm in their faith while facing all circumstances, they were continually edified in their spiritual lives, and the churches also continued to grow. But because the Christian Believers today, take these things as a ritual, a formality to be fulfilled, therefore neither are they growing in their faith, nor are the churches growing. The first of these four things is studying God’s Word, learning it; and generally speaking, since this is not being done in the lives of the Christians, therefore Satan has made use of the opportunity to bring in and establish many wrong teachings and false concepts in the lives of the Christians. In this study we have been considering the Biblically correct form and observance of these four things, from God’s Word. Having considered the first four things, presently we are learning about the fourth thing, praying. So far, we have learnt that praying is not just asking for something from God or asking Him to do something. Rather, it is conversing with God; sharing our concerns with Him and listening to what He has to say to us. God wants that Christian Believers to always be in contact with Him in prayer for everything, to stay safe from the devices of the devil. We have also seen that contrary to a popular but wrong concept, God has not promised everyone that He will always answer all prayers made by anyone in the affirmative. In His Word, God has written whose and which prayers He will answer in the affirmative. There is another false concept related to this, that is very prevalent amongst the Christians, that God will answer in the affirmative, all prayers made to Him “in faith” and “in the name of Jesus.” For the past few articles, we have been learning about this from the examples and references from God’s Word, and seeing to whom did the Lord say this and in context of what prayers. In the last article we have seen and understood from an example, Acts 3:1-16, about asking “in faith” and “in the name of Jesus.” Today, we will see some more things about this topic from God’s Word.

Since during the time-period of the Old Testament, there was no rationale and possibility of asking “in faith” and “in the name of Jesus,” therefore, we will not consider this from any prayers of the Old Testament. When we see the prayers written in the New Testament, whether made by the common people, or by the true, surrendered, obedient disciples of the Lord, there is hardly any prayer which has been asked using these phrases, by the person making the prayer. One example is the one which we have seen in the previous article, but in fact it is an example not of asking any prayer for self but for miraculous healing of someone else. Similarly, in Acts 9:33-34 we have an example of Peter healing the bedridden and paralyzed Aeneas, and in Acts 16:18 Paul casts out the evil spirit from the demon possessed girl who used to foretell, in the name of Jesus. In the book of Acts there are many other instances of healings, casting out demons, bringing the dead back to life, and even of healing through the shadow of Peter (Acts 5:15-16) and through handkerchiefs and aprons touched by the body of Paul (Acts 19:11-12). But except for the aforementioned three healings, in none other has the phrase “in the name of Jesus” been used. We never see this phrase being used in the prayers of any of the Apostles or of any other Believer. This is quite contrary to the tendency and practice of the Christians using this phrase for all prayers to make them effective and to compel God to answer them, today. This makes it something worth pondering over that if those initial Believers and the true, surrendered, obedient disciples of the Lord did not need to use the phrase “in the name of Jesus” in their prayers, their prayers were effective and functional without its use, then despite the Christians using this phrase so often, for practically every prayer to make it effective and functional, why is it that their prayers are not similarly effective and functional? Is the use of this phrase by the Christians so frequently, appropriate and consistent with the practical utilization of the Biblical examples?

Similarly, the second phrase “in faith” is also used very frequently. When the disciples of the Lord asked Him to teach them to pray, then the prayer that the Lord taught them (Luke 11:1-4), and the form of prayer that the Lord had taught His disciples in His Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 6:5-13), we find that neither of these two phrases asking in “in faith” and asking “in the name of Jesus” has been used. In the whole of the New Testament, there is no prayer made by the people of the Lord, which required the use of these phrases to make them effective and functional. Nobody ever had felt the necessity to use these phrases. There are many examples in the Gospels of the people asking the Lord “in faith” or the Lord mentioning their having asked or done something “in faith.” But apart from the Gospels, in the whole of the New Testament, only in James 1:6, only once has asking “in faith” been mentioned, and that too for those who lack wisdom to not doubt but ask God for it in faith. In the Gospels also, when the Lord healed people, or did something according to what they had desired or asked, then the Lord had used this phrase “in faith” only to commend them for having the faith in the Lord about doing something. Surely, the Lord has said to His disciples, that if they ask anything “in faith,” then it will be done for them by God; and we have seen and understood about this in an earlier article, what it means and implies.

Having seen about these phrases from the Bible examples and references, what emerges before us is that, the way these phrases are being used and being taught to be used today, is not their correct Biblical form or utilization. The Lord had not said these for anyone to say and use them for any prayer, to make the prayer appropriate and acceptable, and to compel God to fulfill it. Rather, the Lord had said both these things to His true, surrendered, obedient disciples. And even the prayers of those disciples were only fulfilled, if they were in accordance with God’s will and consistent with His Word. In the next article we will see further from here.

If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord, make your decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now to ensure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Repenting of your sins, and asking the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily and sincerely, surrendering yourself to Him - is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life.  Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.

हम व्यावहारिक मसीही जीवन जीने से सम्बन्धित, प्रेरितों 2:42 में दी गई चौथी बात, प्रार्थना करने पर विचार कर रहे हैं। हम देख चुके हैं कि सामान्य धारणा के विपरीत, प्रार्थना करना केवल परमेश्वर से कुछ माँगना या कुछ करने के लिए कहना मात्र नहीं है; वरन हर बात के लिए, खुले दिल के साथ उससे वार्तालाप करते रहना है। परमेश्वर का अपने लोगों को निर्देश है कि वे उसके साथ निरन्तर प्रार्थना में लगे रहें। हम देख चुके हैं कि ऐसा करने से हम शैतान की युक्तियों से, उसके द्वारा बहकाए जाने से बचे रहते हैं। पिछले लेख में हमने समझना आरम्भ किया था कि परमेश्वर ने अपने वचन में यह अनियंत्रित छूट नहीं दी है कि हम उससे जो भी माँगेंगे, उसे वह अवश्य ही “हाँ” में और तुरन्त पूरा करेगा। हमने सामान्य जीवन के दो उदाहरणों से समझा था कि परमेश्वर ऐसी खुली छूट दे भी नहीं सकता है, क्योंकि ऐसा करना, उसके व्यक्तित्व और गुणों से सुसंगत नहीं होगा। साथ ही हमने यह भी समझा था कि परमेश्वर के वचन बाइबल की बातों के गलत अर्थ, व्याख्या, और दुरुपयोग किए जाने का सबसे मुख्य कारण है बाइबल के कुछ शब्दों, वाक्यांशों, वाक्यों, पदों या खण्डों को उनके सन्दर्भ से बाहर लेकर उनकी अपनी ही समझ के अनुसार व्याख्या करना, उन्हें ऐसे अर्थ देना जो उनके मूल स्वरूप में कभी दिए ही नहीं गए थे। हम उन पदों को भी उनके सन्दर्भ में देखेंगे जिनके आधार पर ये गलत शिक्षाएं दी जाती हैं कि परमेश्वर ने अपने लोगों से वायदा किया है कि वह उनकी हर प्रार्थना का उत्तर हाँ में और तुरन्त देगा।

 

आज हम बाइबल से कुछ पदों को देखेंगे और उनसे सीखेंगे कि परमेश्वर ने किन लोगों और किस प्रकार की प्रार्थनाओं को सुनने और उत्तर देने के बारे में कहा है। ये पद किसी विशेष क्रम में नहीं दिए गए हैं; और न ही बाइबल में प्रार्थना के उत्तर दिए जाने से सम्बन्धित सभी पदों का संकलन हैं। लेकिन ये पद हमें दिखाते हैं कि परमेश्वर ने प्रार्थना सुनने और पूरी करने के बारे में अपने वचन में वास्तव में कहा क्या है। इनके आधार पर हम सामान्यतः दी जाने वाली गलत व्याख्याओं और अनुचित शिक्षाओं के यथार्थ को समझ सकेंगे, और परमेश्वर के वायदों की वास्तविकता को पहचान सकेंगे।

 

• भजन 10:17 “हे यहोवा, तू ने नम्र लोगों की अभिलाषा सुनी है; तू उनका मन तैयार करेगा, तू कान लगाकर सुनेगा” परमेश्वर उनकी सुनता है जो नम्र हैं।
• भजन 34:16-17 “यहोवा बुराई करने वालों के विमुख रहता है, ताकि उनका स्मरण पृथ्वी पर से मिटा डाले। धर्मी दोहाई देते हैं और यहोवा सुनता है, और उन को सब विपत्तियों से छुड़ाता है।” परमेश्वर दुष्टों की नहीं वरन धर्मियों की सुनता है। 
• भजन 37:4 “यहोवा को अपने सुख का मूल जान, और वह तेरे मनोरथों को पूरा करेगा।” परमेश्वर उनकी इच्छाएं पूरी करता है जो उसमें आनन्दित रहते हैं। 
• भजन 91:9, 15 “हे यहोवा, तू मेरा शरण स्थान ठहरा है। तू ने जो परमप्रधान को अपना धाम मान लिया है, जब वह मुझ को पुकारे, तब मैं उसकी सुनूंगा; संकट में मैं उसके संग रहूंगा, मैं उसको बचा कर उसकी महिमा बढ़ाऊंगा।” परमेश्वर उनकी सुनता है जिन्होंने उसे अपना निवासस्थान बनाया है, अर्थात जो हमेशा उसके साथ जुड़े रहते हैं। 
• भजन 145:19 “वह अपने डरवैयों की इच्छा पूरी करता है, ओर उनकी दोहाई सुन कर उनका उद्धार करता है।” परमेश्वर उनकी इच्छा पूरी करता है जो उसका भय मानते हैं।
• नीतिवचन 10:24 “दुष्ट जन जिस विपत्ति से डरता है, वह उस पर आ पड़ती है, परन्तु धर्मियों की लालसा पूरी होती है।” परमेश्वर धर्मियों की लालसा पूरी करता है।
• यूहन्ना 9:31 “हम जानते हैं कि परमेश्वर पापियों की नहीं सुनता परन्तु यदि कोई परमेश्वर का भक्त हो, और उस की इच्छा पर चलता है, तो वह उस की सुनता है।” परमेश्वर अपने भक्तों की, उसकी इच्छा पर चलें वालों की सुनता है।
• यूहन्ना 15:7 “यदि तुम मुझ में बने रहो, और मेरी बातें तुम में बनी रहें तो जो चाहो मांगो और वह तुम्हारे लिये हो जाएगा।” परमेश्वर उनकी माँगो को पूरा करता है जो उसमें तथा उसके वचन में बने रहते हैं।
• यूहन्ना 15:16 “तुम ने मुझे नहीं चुना परन्तु मैं ने तुम्हें चुना है और तुम्हें ठहराया ताकि तुम जा कर फल लाओ; और तुम्हारा फल बना रहे, कि तुम मेरे नाम से जो कुछ पिता से मांगो, वह तुम्हें दे।” परमेश्वर उनकी सुनता है जो जाकर उसके लिए फल लाते हैं, ऐसा फल जो बना रहे; अर्थात उनकी जो यत्न एवं निष्ठा से प्रभु के लिए कार्य करते रहते हैं।
• 1 यूहन्ना 5:14 “और हमें उसके सामने जो हियाव होता है, वह यह है; कि यदि हम उस की इच्छा के अनुसार कुछ मांगते हैं, तो हमारी सुनता है।” परमेश्वर उनकी सुनता है जो उसकी इच्छा के अनुसार माँगते हैं। अर्थात जो परमेश्वर के वचन का अध्ययन और पालन करते हैं; क्योंकि परमेश्वर की इच्छा जानने का माध्यम, परमेश्वर का वचन बाइबल ही है।

 

बाइबल के इन कुछ पदों से हम देख सकते हैं कि परमेश्वर ने उन्हीं की प्रार्थनाओं को सुनने और उत्तर देने का वायदा किया है जो नम्र हैं, धर्मी हैं, बुराई से विमुख रहते हैं, जो उस में आनन्दित रहते हैं, और उसे अपना शरणस्थान तथा निवासस्थान बनाते हैं, उसके भय में बने रहते हैं, उसके भक्त हैं, उसकी इच्छा पर चलते हैं, उसमें तथा उसके वचन में बने रहते हैं, उसके लिए परिश्रम करते हैं और फल लाते हैं, तथा उसकी इच्छा के अनुसार उससे माँगते हैं। जैसे जैसे हम बाइबल की पुस्तकों में से प्रार्थनाओं का उत्तर दिए जाने से सम्बन्धित पदों को संकलित करके उन पर मनन करते हैं, तो हमारे सामने स्पष्ट होता चला जाता है कि परमेश्वर किन लोगों की, और किस प्रकार की प्रार्थनाओं का सकारात्मक रीति से उत्तर देता है। और जैसा उपरोक्त पदों से प्रकट है, परमेश्वर का सकारात्मक उत्तर उन लोगों से और उन प्रार्थनाओं से जुड़ा हुआ है, जो उसके व्यक्तित्व और गुणों के अनुरूप हैं, उन से सुसंगत हैं।

 

आगे के कुछ लेखों में हम उन वाक्यों या पदों को देखेंगे और उनका विश्लेषण करेंगे, जिनका सामान्यतः यह दिखाने के लिए दुरुपयोग किया जाता है कि परमेश्वर ने विश्वास से माँगी गई प्रत्येक प्रार्थना का सकारात्मक उत्तर देने का वायदा किया है।

 

यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु, मैं अपने पापों के लिए पश्चातापी हूँ, उनके लिए आप से क्षमा माँगता हूँ। मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मुझे और मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

The Four Pillars of Christian Living - 4 - Prayer (8)

We are considering the fourth thing related to practical Christian living, given in Acts 2:42. We have seen that contrary to the popular misconception, praying is not just asking for something from God, nor is it asking Him to do something; rather it is conversing with God about everything and with an open heart. It is God’s instruction to His people that they continually keep praying to Him. We have seen that by doing so we are kept safe from the schemes of the devil, and from being misled by him. Since the last article we have started to see how God has not given an uncontrolled license in His Word that whatever we ask for, He is obliged to fulfill it and do it immediately. We had seen through two examples of everyday life that God cannot give any such promises, since doing this will not be in conformity to His person and His attributes. We had also understood that the most common and important reason for misunderstanding, misinterpreting, and misapplying the words, phrases, sentences, verses and passages of the Bible is taking them out of their context, and then giving them meanings which were never a part of their original form. We will also see those verses in their context, which are often made the basis of the wrong teachings that God has promised His people that He will answer their prayers in affirmative and immediately.

Today we will see some verses from the Bible and learn from them what God has said about answering whose prayers, and what kinds of prayers. These verses are not given here in any particular sequence; and neither are they a compilation of all the verses related to answered prayers. But these verses show to us what God actually has said in His Word about listening to and fulfilling prayers. On the basis of these verses, we can see the reality about the verses usually misinterpreted and used to give wrong teachings, and be able to understand the promises of God on this topic correctly.

• Psalm 10:17 “Lord, You have heard the desire of the humble; You will prepare their heart; You will cause Your ear to hear” The Lord listens to those who are humble.
• Psalm 34:16-17 “The face of the Lord is against those who do evil, To cut off the remembrance of them from the earth. The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears, And delivers them out of all their troubles.” The Lord listens to not the wicked but the righteous.
• Psalm 37:4 “Delight yourself also in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.” God fulfills the desires of those who delight themselves in the Lord.
• Psalm 91:9, 15 “Because you have made the Lord, who is my refuge, Even the Most High, your dwelling place, He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him and honor him.” God listens to those who have made Him their refuge and dwelling place.
• Psalm 145:19 “He will fulfill the desire of those who fear Him; He also will hear their cry and save them.” God fulfills the desires of those who fear Him.
• Proverbs 10:24 “The fear of the wicked will come upon him, And the desire of the righteous will be granted.” God fulfills the desires of the righteous.
• John 9:31 “Now we know that God does not hear sinners; but if anyone is a worshiper of God and does His will, He hears him.” God listens to those who are His worshippers and do His will.
• John 15:7 “If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you.” God fulfills the prayers of those who abide in Him and His Words.
• John 15:16 “You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain, that whatever you ask the Father in My name He may give you.” God listens to those who go and bear fruit for Him, fruit that remains; i.e., to those who sincerely and diligently work for the Lord.
• 1 John 5:14 “Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.” God listens to those who ask according to His will. In other words, those who study and obey His Word; since the way to know God’s will is His Word the Bible.

From these few verses of the Bible, we can see that God has promised to listen to the prayers of only those who are humble, righteous, stay away from evil, delight themselves in Him, make Him their refuge and dwelling place, remain in His fear, worships Him and does His will, abide in Him and His Word, work for Him and bear fruit for him, and ask according to His will. As we compile the verses about answered prayers from the various books of the Bible and meditate upon them, then it keeps getting clearer to us about whose, and what kinds of prayers God responds to positively. And as is evident from the above verses, God’s positive response is for the prayers of those who are in conformity with Him and His attributes.

In the next few articles, we will look at those sentences and verses and analyze them, which are generally used to say that God has promised to answer positively every prayer that is made to Him in faith.
