परमेश्वर के वचन की आज्ञाकारिता – 2

 

पिछले लेख से हमने दाऊद द्वारा सुलैमान को दिए गए तीसरे निर्देश – “जितनी बातें परमेश्वर के वचन में लिखी हैं, वह उनका आज्ञाकारी बना रहे” (1 राजाओं 2:3b), और जो आज भी सभी मसीहियों पर समान रीति से लागू है, पर विचार करना आरंभ किया है। पिछले लेख में हमने देखा है कि परमेश्वर के वचन की अनाज्ञाकारिता के कारण ही पाप को सँसार तथा सृष्टि में प्रवेश करने का अवसर मिला। परमेश्वर के वचन की अनाज्ञाकारिता हमेशा ही लोगों तथा परमेश्वर की सन्तानों के लिए गंभीर समस्याएं उत्पन्न करती रही है, उन पर परमेश्वर के दण्ड, क्रोध, और घोर ताड़ना को लाती रही है। परमेश्वर अपने अनाज्ञाकारी लोगों को, जो उसे छोड़ कर सँसार और उसके सुखों के पीछे हो लेते हैं, न तो कभी छोड़ देता है और न ही उनका तिरस्कार करता है। उसने इस्राएल को नहीं छोड़ा, इस्राएल ने जो प्रभु यीशु और उसके अनुयायियों के साथ किया, उसके बावजूद भी; परंतु न तो उसने उनकी अनाज्ञाकारिता को हल्के में लिया और न ही उसकी अनदेखी की। जो भी परमेश्वर के अनाज्ञाकारिता करता है, उसे इसका परिणाम भुगतना पड़ेगा और कीमत चुकानी होगी; और यह उनकी अनन्तकाल की आशीषों और प्रतिफलों को भी नष्ट करता है। ऐसे बहुतेरे मसीही विश्वासी होंगे जो स्वर्ग में छूछे हाथ प्रवेश करेंगे (1 कुरिन्थियों 3:13-15), और अनन्तकाल तक खाली हाथ ही रहेंगे। क्योंकि उन्होंने अपने मसीही जीवन वैसे व्यतीत नहीं किए जो परमेश्वर को प्रसन्न करे, उन पर उसकी आशीष लाए, और उन्हें अनन्तकालीन प्रतिफलों को प्रदान करे।

एक अन्य बात जिसे हमें समझना अनिवार्य है, वह है कि परमेश्वर के वचन की आज्ञाकारिता का अर्थ होता है परमेश्वर ने अपने वचन में जो और जैसा लिखवाया है, उसका वैसे ही पालन करना, उसी के अनुसार करना। इसका यह अर्थ कदापि नहीं है, और न ही किसी मनुष्य को अनुमति है, कि वह परमेश्वर के वचन में कोई परिवर्तन, कोई जोड़-तोड़ करे, और फिर उस बदले हुए वचन को परमेश्वर के लोगों के समक्ष, परमेश्वर का खरा वचन कह कर प्रस्तुत करे। प्रभु यीशु के सम्पूर्ण ‘पहाड़ी उपदेश’ में, अर्थात मत्ती रचित सुसमाचार के 5-7 अध्यायों में, हम देखते हैं कि प्रभु यीशु कई दफा, ‘तुमने सुना है,’ या, ‘तुम से कहा गया है,’ या इसी अभिप्राय का कोई वाक्यांश कहते हैं; और फिर, यह कहते हुए कि ‘लेकिन मैं तुम से कहता हूँ,’ वो उसका सुधारा हुआ स्वरूप बताते हैं। अर्थात जीवित वचन जिसने देहधारी होकर हमारे मध्य में डेरा किया (यूहन्ना 1:14), उन्हें सिखा रहा था कि वास्तविक निर्देश क्या था, बजाय उसके जो भ्रष्ट कर के उन्हें सिखाया गया और जिसका पालन करवाया जा रहा था। उस समय के धार्मिक अगुवों ने परमेश्वर के वचन की गलत व्याख्या करके उसका दुरुपयोग इस उद्देश्य से किया था कि वह उनके लिए सहज एवं लाभकारी हो। वे जन-सामान्य को इस भ्रष्ट किए हुए वचन को परमेश्वर का वचन कहकर बताते और सिखाते थे, और उसी का पालन करने के लिए कहते थे। मत्ती 15:1-9 में हम देखते हैं कि प्रभु यीशु शास्त्रियों और फरीसियों को फटकार लगाई, उनके द्वारा अपनी ही रीतियाँ बनाकर और मनुष्यों की बनाई हुए आज्ञाओं को परमेश्वर का वचन कह कर सिखाने के लिए उनकी भर्त्सना की। उस समय लोग सामान्यतः अनपढ़ होते थे, और परमेश्वर के वचन की प्रतियां भी पढ़ने और सीखने के लिए सरलता से उपलब्ध नहीं थीं; इसीलिए लोग मजबूर थे कि धार्मिक अगुवों के द्वारा उन्हें जो भी बताया और सिखाया जाए, उसी को स्वीकार कर लें, और उसे का पालन करें।

आज भी लगभग यही स्थिति विद्यमान है, यद्यपि परमेश्वर का वचन अनेकों भाषाओं और विभिन्न स्वरूपों – लिखित और डिजिटल रूप में; साथ ही बाइबल के अध्ययन की सामग्री भी बहुतायत से और सरलता से उपलब्ध है। और प्रभु परमेश्वर ने अपना वचन सिखाने के लिए प्रत्येक मसीही विश्वासी को अपना पवित्र आत्मा भी प्रदान कर रखा है – जैसे हम वचन के भण्डारी होने से संबंधित लेखों में विस्तार से देख चुके हैं। किन्तु फिर भी अधिकाँश “मसीही” अपने धार्मिक अगुवों पर ही भरोसा करते हैं, उन्हीं की कही हुई को सुनते और मानते हैं, डिनॉमिनेशन या मत के अगुवे जो कहते और करवाते हैं लोग परमेश्वर के वास्तविक वचन की बजाए उस कहे हुए का ही पालन करते हैं। यह तथ्य कि विभिन्न डिनॉमिनेशनों और मतों के सिद्धांतों और रीतियों में परस्पर बहुत अन्तर पाए जाते हैं इस बात का प्रमाण है कि मनुष्यों के बनाए हुए ये नियम और रिवाज़, ये सिद्धान्त और रीतियाँ, परमेश्वर का वास्तविक वचन नहीं हैं। जैसा कि प्रभु यीशु की पृथ्वी के सेवकाई के दिनों में फरीसी, शास्त्री, और अन्य धार्मिक अगुवे कर रहे थे, आज ये डिनॉमिनेशनों और मतों के धार्मिक अगुवे भी परमेश्वर के वचन की गलत व्याख्या और दुरुपयोग कर रहे हैं। उसे अपने लिए सहज और लाभकारी बनाकर उस बदले हुए तथा भ्रष्ट किए हुए वचन को परमेश्वर का सच्चा और खरा वचन बताकर सिखा रहे हैं, जो कि वह कदापि नहीं है। इसीलिए, प्रभु यीशु ने जो उस समय फरीसियों से कहा था, वही आज भी वैसे ही, इन लोगों पर भी लागू होता है – “और ये व्यर्थ मेरी उपासना करते हैं, क्योंकि मनुष्यों की विधियों को धर्मोपदेश कर के सिखाते हैं” (मत्ती 15:9)। अर्थात, इन गढ़ी हुई और भ्रष्ट धारणाओं और रीतियों के अनुसार की जाने वाली समस्त आराधना और भक्ति “व्यर्थ आराधना” है, निष्फल और निरर्थक है। जो लोग यह करवाते और करते हैं उन्हें इससे कोई स्वर्गीय आशीष, कोई अनन्तकालीन लाभ नहीं मिलता है, वे चाहे कितनी ही ईमानदारी और श्रद्धा से इसका निर्वाह क्यों न करें।

मसीहियों के लिए परमेश्वर के निर्देश “निर्मल आत्मिक दूध” (1 पतरस 2:2) की लालसा रखने के हैं, न परमेश्वर के वचन के नाम पर बदला हुआ, भ्रष्ट किया हुआ, जो कुछ भी सिखाया और करवाया जाए उसी में बने रहने के। जैसा हमने मसीही विश्वासी के परमेश्वर के वचन का भण्डारी होने से संबंधित लेखों में देखा है, कलीसियाओं की बढ़ोतरी और विश्वासियों की आत्मिक उन्नति के लिए आवश्यक बातों में परमेश्वर का परिशुद्ध, बिना भ्रष्ट किया गया वचन देना, सिखाना एवं सीखना, और उसी का पालन करना, एक बहुत महत्वपूर्ण स्थान रखते हैं। परिशुद्ध वचन से ही कलीसिया बढ़ती और विश्वासियों की आत्मिक उन्नति होती है, किसी अन्य से नहीं। परमेश्वर की आशीषें और प्रभु के साथ संगति केवल उसके खरे वचन के मानने वालों के साथ ही हैं (यूहन्ना 14:21, 23; यशायाह 40:31; 2 तीमुथियुस 3:15-17)।

अगले लेख में दाऊद के द्वारा सुलैमान को दिए गए चौथे निर्देश “सावधान रहे, और हमेशा प्रभु के प्रति समर्पित बना रहे (1 राजाओं 2:4b)” पर विचार करना आरम्भ करेंगे।

यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। स्वेच्छा से अपने पापों के लिये पश्चाताप करके प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु, मैं अपने पापों के लिए पश्चातापी हूँ, उनके लिए आप से क्षमा माँगता हूँ। मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मुझे और मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

Always Obedient to God’s Word

Obedience to God’s Word – 2

 

Since the last article, we have begun to consider the third instruction that David gave to Solomon – “To be obedient to the Word of God, in all things written in it” (1Ki 2:3b); and even today it remains applicable to all the Christians. In the previous article we have seen that disobedience to God’s Word caused sin to enter into creation and the world. Disobedience to God’s Word has always caused serious problems for the people and children of God; even inviting God’s retribution, wrath, and severe chastisement upon them. God does not abandon or reject His disobedient people who leave Him and go follow the world and its pleasures. He has not rejected Israel, despite what Israel has done to the Lord Jesus and to those following Him; but neither does He condone their disobedience nor takes it lightly. Anyone who disobeys God, will have to suffer for it and pay a price; This even harms their eternal blessings and rewards. There will be many Christian Believers who will enter heaven empty handed (1 Corinthians 3:13-15), and remain so for eternity. Because they failed to live their Christian lives in a manner that would please God, bring His blessings upon them, and cause them to receive eternal rewards.

Another thing we need to understand is that obeying God’s Word means obeying and doing according to what God has written in His Word, just as He has asked it to be done. It in no way means, or, permits man’s modifications and alterations of God’s Word, and then to present the man-made modifications to God’s people as the pure Word of God. Throughout the Sermon on the Mount, i.e., chapters 5-7 of Matthew’s Gospel, we find the Lord Jesus repeatedly teaching and saying phrases like, ‘you have heard,’ or ‘you were told,’ or implying the same; and then He presents His corrected version by stating ‘but I say to you.’ In other words, the Living Word who became flesh and dwelt amongst us (John 1:14) was teaching them what the actual instruction was, instead of the corrupted one that they had been taught and asked to practice. The religious leaders of those times had misinterpreted and misapplied God’s Word to make it suit their convenience and be of benefit to them. They were teaching this corrupted word of God to the general public and asking them to obey it. In Matthew 15:1-9 the Lord Jesus castigates the Scribes and the Pharisees for creating their own traditions and teaching commandments of men as the word of God, and denounced them for it. At that time the people were generally illiterate, and copies of God’s Word were not so easily available for reading and learning; and so, the people were constrained to learn, accept, and follow whatever the religious leaders taught them and asked them to do.

Much the same situation exists even today, although God’s word is freely available in many languages and forms – printed and digital; and so are Bible studies and teachings readily available. The Lord God has also given His Holy Spirit to each and every Christian Believer to teach them His Word, as we have seen in detail in the articles related to being a steward of God’s Word. But still, the vast majority of the “Christians” believe in and adhere to what their religious leaders, those of their denomination or sect preach and teach them, instead of obeying and following the actual Word of God. The very fact that there are major differences in the doctrines and practices of every denomination and sect is proof that none of these man-made rules and regulations, these doctrines and practices, are actually the Word of God. Like what the Scribes and Pharisees and the other religious leaders were doing during the earthly ministry of the Lord, similarly, today’s denominational religious leaders have also manipulated and misinterpreted God’s Word to suit their convenience, and teach that modified and corrupted Word of God, as the “truth” which it most certainly is not. Therefore, what the Lord Jesus said to the Pharisees at that time, also equally applies today – “And in vain they worship Me, Teaching as doctrines the commandments of men” (Matthew 15:9). All worship and reverence of God based on these contrived denominational doctrines and practices is “vain worship,” i.e., it is inconsequential. It brings no blessings or rewards to those who indulge in it, no matter how piously and sincerely they may practice it.

God’s instructions to the Christian Believers are to desire the “pure milk of the word” (1 Peter 2:2); not to accept and remain indulgent in the corrupted, adulterated thing preached and taught as ‘word of god’ to them. As we have seen in the articles on the Believer’s stewardship of the Church, and the factors contributing to the growth and edification of the Church and the Christian Believers, it is the sharing, teaching, learning, and obeying the pure, unadulterated, unmodified, unaltered Word of God that causes the Believers to be edified and the Church to grow, not anything else. The blessings and fellowship of the Lord is with those who obey His pure Word (John 14:21, 23; Isaiah 40:31; 2 Timothy 3:15-17).

In the next article we will begin considering David’s fourth instruction to Solomon, “To be careful, taking heed, to remain sincere and committed to the Lord always (1 Kings 2:4b).”

If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord, make your decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now to ensure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Voluntarily repent of your sins and ask the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily and sincerely, surrender yourself to Him - this is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life.  Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.

हम पिछले कुछ लेखों में अपरिवर्तित मनुष्य के पापों को परमेश्वर द्वारा,प्रेरितों 17:30 में, “अज्ञानता के समय का पाप” कहे जाने को समझने का प्रयास कर रहे हैं। प्रेरित पौलुस द्वारा, अथेने के घोर मूर्तिपूजा और परमेश्वर के लिए घृणित, अस्वीकार्य व्यवहार में लिप्त लोगों के लिए, परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा की अगुवाई में किए गए प्रचार में, उन लोगों के लिए परमेश्वर के प्रकोप से बचने और परमेश्वर के साथ संगति में बहाल होने के लिए दिया गया समाधान था, “इसलिये परमेश्वर अज्ञानता के समयों में आनाकानी कर के, अब हर जगह सब मनुष्यों को मन फिराने की आज्ञा देता है” (प्रेरितों 17:30); और इस समाधान में तीन रोचक तथा बहुत महत्वपूर्ण बातें हैं:

1. परमेश्वर पाप के लिए तुरंत दण्ड देने के स्थान पर, उन पापों को अज्ञानता के समय में किए गए कार्य बता कर, उनके दण्ड से बच जाने का अवसर देता है।

2. पापी मनुष्यों द्वारा पापों के लिए पश्चाताप करना, सब जगह के सभी मनुष्यों के लिए, परमेश्वर की इच्छा-मात्र नहीं, आज्ञा है। 

3. परमेश्वर उन लोगों से, उनके पापों के समाधान के लिए, व्यवस्था का पालन करने के लिए नहीं कहता है; बल्कि सभी लोगों से मन फिराने, तथा पश्चाताप करने के द्वारा पापों की क्षमा पाने और विश्वास करने के लिए कहता है।

अब हमारे सामने प्रश्न है कि क्यों प्रेरितों 17:30 में परमेश्वर अपरिवर्तित मनुष्यों के घोर पापों को भी अज्ञानता के समय के कार्य मानकर, उनके विषय उन लोगों को दण्ड देने से आनाकानी करता है, उन्हें दण्ड से बचने का अवसर प्रदान करता है, सभी को अपने-अपने पापों के लिए पश्चाताप करने की आज्ञा देता है? असमंजस में डालने वाले इस प्रश्न का उत्तर परमेश्वर के चरित्र और गुणों में, उसके सच्चा खरा न्यायी होने में छुपा हुआ है। निर्गमन 34:6-7 में परमेश्वर ने स्वयं को मूसा पर इस रीति से प्रकट किया: “और यहोवा उसके साम्हने हो कर यों प्रचार करता हुआ चला, कि ‘यहोवा, यहोवा, ईश्वर दयालु और अनुग्रहकारी, कोप करने में धीरजवन्त, और अति करूणामय और सत्य, हजारों पीढिय़ों तक निरन्तर करूणा करने वाला, अधर्म और अपराध और पाप का क्षमा करने वाला है, परन्तु दोषी को वह किसी प्रकार निर्दोष न ठहराएगा, वह पितरों के अधर्म का दण्ड उनके बेटों वरन पोतों और परपोतों को भी देने वाला है।’” बाद में मूसा ने परमेश्वर के विषय व्यवस्थाविवरण 32:4 में लिखा कि “वह चट्टान है, उसका काम खरा है; और उसकी सारी गति न्याय की है। वह सच्चा ईश्वर है, उस में कुटिलता नहीं, वह धर्मी और सीधा है।” व्यक्ति धर्मी हो या अधर्मी, पापी हो या उद्धार और पाप क्षमा पाया हुआ, परमेश्वर हर किसी के साथ अपनी सच्चाई, खराई, ईमानदारी, और पक्षपात रहित होने के गुणों के अनुसार ही व्यवहार करता है। उसके ये गुण, उसका यह चरित्र बदलता नहीं है, सदा ही सभी के लिए समान बना रहता है, कार्यकारी रहता है।  

परमेश्वर हम मनुष्यों की रचना और क्षमता को भली-भांति जानता है; उसे सदा ध्यान रहता है कि मनुष्य मिट्टी ही है: “क्योंकि वह हमारी सृष्टि जानता है; और उसको स्मरण रहता है कि मनुष्य मिट्टी ही है” (भजन 103:14)। परमेश्वर किसी दुष्ट की भी मृत्यु से प्रसन्न नहीं होता है, वरन चाहता है कि सभी लोग पाप का दंड पाने से बच जाएँ “सो तू ने उन से यह कह, परमेश्वर यहोवा की यह वाणी है, मेरे जीवन की सौगन्ध, मैं दुष्ट के मरने से कुछ भी प्रसन्न नहीं होता, परन्तु इस से कि दुष्ट अपने मार्ग से फिर कर जीवित रहे; हे इस्राएल के घराने, तुम अपने अपने बुरे मार्ग से फिर जाओ; तुम क्यों मरो?” (यहेजकेल 33:11)।

परमेश्वर की यह कदापि इच्छा नहीं है कि मनुष्य किसी बुराई में फंसे, और गिरे; न तो वह स्वयं बुराई के द्वारा परखा जाता है, और न ही वह बुराई के द्वारा किसी की परीक्षा करता है: “जब किसी की परीक्षा हो, तो वह यह न कहे, कि मेरी परीक्षा परमेश्वर की ओर से होती है; क्योंकि न तो बुरी बातों से परमेश्वर की परीक्षा हो सकती है, और न वह किसी की परीक्षा आप करता है” (याकूब 1:13)। 

साथ ही परमेश्वर का आश्वासन भी है कि वह हमें हमारी सामर्थ्य से बाहर किसी परीक्षा में नहीं पड़ने देगा, वरन परीक्षा के साथ निकासी का मार्ग भी देगा: “तुम किसी ऐसी परीक्षा में नहीं पड़े, जो मनुष्य के सहने से बाहर है: और परमेश्वर सच्चा है: वह तुम्हें सामर्थ्य से बाहर परीक्षा में न पड़ने देगा, वरन परीक्षा के साथ निकास भी करेगा; कि तुम सह सको” (1 कुरिन्थियों 10:13)। इसी लिए परमेश्वर हम मनुष्यों को शैतान द्वारा धूर्तता और चतुराई से लाई गई हमारी सामर्थ्य से बाहर परीक्षाओं में गिरा देने और पाप कर बैठने के लिए बहका देने से उत्पन्न स्थिति की आनाकानी करने और सभी मनुष्यों को पाप के दण्ड से बचने का अवसर देने के लिए तैयार है। हम अगले लेख में इसके बारे में थोड़ा और देखेंगे।

Man’s Ignorance - 2

Over the last few articles, we've been trying to understand why God has called the sins of the unregenerate man the "sins of the time of ignorance" in Acts 17:30. The Apostle Paul while preaching under the guidance of God's Holy Spirit, to those in Athens, a people given to blatant idolatry and works detested by God, speaks to them about the way to their becoming acceptable to God, being restored to fellowship with God, and escaping His wrath. The God given solution was, "Truly, these times of ignorance God overlooked, but now commands all men everywhere to repent" (Acts 17:30). There are three interesting and very important points in what Paul said here:

1. Instead of immediately punishing them for their sins, God gives an opportunity for them to be saved from their punishment, by treating those sins as done in times of ignorance.

2. That all men everywhere repent for their sins is God’s command, not a mere desire expressed by God.

3. God is not asking the people to obey the Law; but is asking everyone to repent, to seek forgiveness of sins, and to believe in the Lord Jesus, for the redressal of their sins.

Now the question before us is why in Acts 17:30 is God reluctant to punish even those who are unregenerate, the unsaved? Why is He willing to consider the grievous sins of unconverted men to be acts of ignorance, and give them the opportunity to escape punishment, by commanding them to repent of their sins? The answer to this perplexing question lies in the character and attributes of God, in His being the honest and upright Judge. In Exodus 34:6-7, God had revealed Himself to Moses as: “And the Lord passed before him and proclaimed, ‘The Lord, the Lord God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abounding in goodness and truth, keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, by no means clearing the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children and the children's children to the third and the fourth generation.’” Later, in Deuteronomy 32:4 Moses says of God that, “He is the Rock, His work is perfect; For all His ways are justice, A God of truth and without injustice; Righteous and upright is He." Whether a person is righteous or unrighteous, sinner or saved and forgiven, God treats everyone according to His own attributes of truth, integrity, honesty, and being impartial. These qualities of His, His character never ever changes; His character and attributes always remain the same for all.

God knows all too well the creation and capabilities of us humans; He always remembers that man is dust: “For He knows our frame; He remembers that we are dust" (Psalm 103:14). Even the death of a wicked person does not please God; God wants everyone to be saved from the punishment of sin “Say to them: 'As I live,' says the Lord God, 'I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but that the wicked turn from his way and live. Turn, turn from your evil ways! For why should you die, O house of Israel?'” (Ezekiel 33:11).

It is never in the will of God that man should ever be ensnared by evil, and fall into sin. Neither is He ever tempted by evil, nor does He ever tempt anyone with evil: “Let no one say when he is tempted, "I am tempted by God"; for God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does He Himself tempt anyone" (James 1:13).

Also, it is God's assurance that He will not allow us to be tempted beyond our ability, but will also give us a way out of the temptation: “No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it" (1 Corinthians 10:13). That's why God is ready to overlook these times of our ignorance and give us humans the opportunity and the way to be delivered from the consequences of the devious and cunning tricks of Satan, his satanic ploys that are beyond our capabilities to manage, through which he leads us into sin. We will see some more on this in the next article. 

If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord, make your decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now to ensure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Repenting of your sins, and asking the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily and sincerely, surrendering yourself to Him - is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life.  Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.

हम देखते हैं की रोमियों 5:3-5 में लिखा है, “केवल यही नहीं, वरन हम क्लेशों में भी घमण्ड करें, यही जानकर कि क्लेश से धीरज। ओर धीरज से खरा निकलना, और खरे निकलने से आशा उत्पन्न होती है। और आशा से लज्जा नहीं होती, क्योंकि पवित्र आत्मा जो हमें दिया गया है उसके द्वारा परमेश्वर का प्रेम हमारे मन में डाला गया है।” यहाँ पर हम मसीही विश्वासियों द्वारा दुःख उठाने से, उनमें क्रमवार होने वाले चार प्रभावों को देखते हैं। ये प्रभाव हैं, धीरज, जिसके द्वारा हम में खरा निकलना होता है, जो फिर हम में आशा को उत्पन्न करता है, और आशा हमें कभी लज्जित नहीं होने देती, अर्थात हमें कभी निराश और हताश नहीं होने देती है। मसीही विश्वासियों के विरुद्ध शैतान का एक प्रबल हथियार है लज्जा, या हताशा और निराशा। यहाँ पर हम शैतान के इस हथियार को विफल करने का परमेश्वर द्वारा दिया गया उपाय देखते हैं; किन्तु इस उपाय का कार्यान्वित होना दुःख उठाने के साथ होता है। हम सभी अपने व्यक्तिगत अनुभवों से जानते हैं कि समस्याओं के उत्पन्न होने, या बढ़ जाने का एक प्रमुख कारण है हमारा धीरज नहीं रखना। हम बिना सोचे-विचारे शब्दों और कार्यों के लिए प्रतिक्रिया दे देते हैं, हम चाहते हैं कि हर बात तुरन्त या शीघ्रता से हो जाए, हम बहुत बार औरों को कई बातों के लिए थोड़ा सा भी समय देना नहीं चाहते हैं, इत्यादि; और ये सभी, अन्ततः, केवल या तो समस्याओं को उत्पन्न करते हैं, या उन्हें और बिगाड़ देते हैं।

इसलिए, हमें धीरज सिखाने के लिए, परमेश्वर हमें अकसर दुःखदायी परिस्थितियों में जा लेने देता है, जहाँ पर हमारे पास परमेश्वर के द्वारा दिए गए उपाय के अतिरिक्त अन्य कोई उपाय नहीं होता है, और हमें परमेश्वर के द्वारा हमें उस परिस्थिति से बाहर निकाले जाने के लिए धीरज धरना ही पड़ता है। समय के साथ, जब हम हर बात और हर परिस्थिति के लिए परमेश्वर पर निर्भर होना, उस पर भरोसा रख कर धीरज धरना सीखते हैं, तो यह हमारे चरित्र को निखारता है और हमें खराई से रहना सिखाता है, लोगों को दिखने लगता है कि हम सँसार के अन्य लोगों से भिन्न हैं। हमारा धीरज, हमारा खराई से रहना, परमेश्वर के साथ हमारे अनुभव, हमें परमेश्वर में हमेशा भरोसा रखते हुए जीवन जीते रहने में सहायता करते हैं। और जब हम परमेश्वर में भरोसा और आशा रखते हुए जीवन जीते हैं, तो शैतान के पास हमें लज्जित करने, या हमें हताश और निराश करने, और हमें परमेश्वर के मार्गों से बहका देने के लिए कारगर कोई भी युक्ति शेष नहीं रहने पाती है। यह एक उपाय है, जिसके द्वारा परमेश्वर हमें इस पृथ्वी पर हमारे आत्मिक जीवनों में उन्नति करने और दृढ़ बने रहने में सहायता करता है। याकूब ने भी इसी बात को दोहराया है “हे मेरे भाइयों, जब तुम नाना प्रकार की परीक्षाओं में पड़ो तो इसको पूरे आनन्द की बात समझो, यह जान कर, कि तुम्हारे विश्वास के परखे जाने से धीरज उत्पन्न होता है। पर धीरज को अपना पूरा काम करने दो, कि तुम पूरे और सिद्ध हो जाओ और तुम में किसी बात की घटी न रहे” (याकूब 1:2-4)।

एक और बात जो परीक्षाएँ और दुःख हमारे जीवनों में करते हैं, वह है इस बात का प्रमाण प्रदान करना कि हम सही मार्ग पर अग्रसर हैं, परमेश्वर के पथ पर हैं। परमेश्वर का वचन कहता है “फिर यदि मसीह के नाम के लिये तुम्हारी निन्दा की जाती है, तो धन्य हो; क्योंकि महिमा का आत्मा, जो परमेश्वर का आत्मा है, तुम पर छाया करता है” (1 पतरस 4:14)। दूसरे शब्दों में हमें अपने विश्वास के लिए जिस निन्दा का सामना करना पड़ता है, जो दुःख उठाने पड़ते हैं, वे इस बात का प्रमाण हैं कि “महिमा का आत्मा” हम पर छाया करता है। इसे यशायाह 59:2 के साथ देखिए, जहाँ पर लिखा है “परन्तु तुम्हारे अधर्म के कामों ने तुम को तुम्हारे परमेश्वर से अलग कर दिया है, और तुम्हारे पापों के कारण उस का मुँह तुम से ऐसा छिपा है कि वह नहीं सुनता;” अर्थात, यदि हम में कोई अधर्म या बुराई होगी, तो उस के कारण हम में और परमेश्वर में दूरी आ जाएगी, वह हमारी नहीं सुनेगा, और हम परमेश्वर के लिए उपयोगी नहीं रहेंगे। जब हम परमेश्वर से दूर होंगे, परमेश्वर हमारी नहीं सुन रहा होगा, हम परमेश्वर के लिए अनुपयोगी होंगे, तब शैतान अपनी चालों और शक्तियों को हम पर क्यों लगाएगा? इसलिए हम पर उसके हमले कम और हल्के हो जाएँगे, और हम, तुलना में, एक कम कष्टों और समस्याओं वाला जीवन व्यतीत करने लगेंगे। दूसरे शब्दों में प्रभु के लिए एक सक्रिय विश्वासी के जीवन में शैतानी हमलों का घट जाना इस बात का संकेत है कि वह किसी शैतानी युक्ति में फँस गया है, और अब सही मार्ग पर, परमेश्वर के पथ पर नहीं चल रहा है। लेकिन जब तक हम परमेश्वर की आज्ञाकारिता में परमेश्वर के पीछे-पीछे चलते रहेंगे, तो यह शैतान के लिए समस्याएँ उत्पन्न करता रहेगा, इसलिए, फिर वह भी हमें परेशान करता रहेगा। अर्थात, मसीही विश्वासी के जीवन में दुःखों या समस्याओं का बना रहना, इस बात का संकेत है कि वह सही मार्ग पर, परमेश्वर के पथ पर चल रहा है, और प्रभु के लिए उपयोगी बना हुआ है।

इस प्रकार से, जब तक हम इस पृथ्वी पर हैं, दुःख, परेशानियाँ, परिश्रम हमारे लिए शारीरिक और भौतिक लाभ लाएंगे, हमें आत्मिक या मसीही जीवन में बढ़ने और दृढ़ होने में सहायता करेंगे, और हमें आश्वस्त रखेंगे कि हम अपने जीवनों के लिए परमेश्वर के मार्गों पर बने हुए हैं। अगले लेख में हम दुःखों से होने वाले स्वर्गीय या परलोक के लाभों के बारे में देखेंगे।

Remembrance of Sin Forgiven and Forgotten - 8

   

In this study on “Eternal Judgement,” the sixth elementary principle given in Hebrews 6:1-2, in the previous articles we have seen that the second effect of sin, i.e., life long suffering and toil while we are in this physical body with a sin nature, has some God given and beneficial purposes in our lives. These benefits are not just heavenly, i.e., only for the next world, but are also for this world as we live our day-to-day lives. In effect, through this life-long suffering, problems, and toil, God has put in place a mechanism for us to live with a constant reminder of the consequences of sin, i.e., of transgressing God’s law; but at the same time God has also put in place earthly as well as heavenly benefits through the sufferings. This is a unique, remarkable evidence of the love and care of God for sinful man, and His desire that man be reconciled with Him, by coming to Him through the way He has prepared – through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. In the last article, while looking at the earthly benefits through suffering, we had seen about the physical or material blessings promised by the Lord for those who are willing to suffer in His will and for His work assigned to them by Him. Today we will look at some spiritual blessings for God’s children, that come through sufferings; i.e., blessings that help us to build up and grow in our Christian lives, and will see how they also assure us of our standing with the Lord.

We find written in Romans 5:3-5 “And not only that, but we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance; and perseverance, character; and character, hope. Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.” Here we have four sequential effects, one thing leading to another, because of tribulations faced by the Christian Believers. These effects are perseverance or patience, which develops our character, which in turn gives us hope, and the net effect is that we do not live a disappointed life. One of Satan’s potent weapons against God’s people is to discourage and disappoint them about many things. Here we have God’s antidote to this satanic device of disappointments; but it starts with tribulations. We well know from our experiences, that one major cause of problems getting created or aggravated is our lack of patience. We react to words and actions without thinking over it, we want things done in a hurry, we are often very reluctant to give others a little time about many things, etc. and all of these eventually only lead to problems or aggravate them.

Therefore, to teach us patience, God often allows us to get into painful situations, where we have no other way out, than the one God provides, and we can do nothing other than patiently wait for Him to deliver us from the situation. With time, as we learn to trust and wait on the Lord in and for every situation, it develops our character, makes it evident to the people around us that we are different from the people of the world. Our patience and character, our experiences with God, help us to live lives ever hopeful in God; and when we are trusting and hopeful in God, Satan cannot beguile us away through disappointments and discouragement. This is one way through which God helps us to develop and grow in our spiritual lives on earth. James also says the same “My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing” (James 1:2-4).

Another thing the presence of trials and afflictions do in our lives is provide proof that we are on the right path, the way of God. God’s Word says “If you are reproached for the name of Christ, blessed are you, for the Spirit of glory and of God rests upon you. On their part He is blasphemed, but on your part He is glorified” (1 Peter 4:14). In other words, the reproaches that we suffer for our faith in the Lord, these sufferings are a proof that the “the Spirit of glory and of God” rests upon us. Consider this in relation to Isaiah 59:2 “But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid [his] face from you, that he will not hear” i.e., if there is any iniquity in our lives, it creates a distance between us and God, and He does not hear us; making us ineffective for God. When we are away from God, God is not hearing us, we are no longer effective for God, why would Satan concentrate his energies and efforts on us, so his attacks against us will decrease and we will start living a relatively “trouble free” life. In other words, for an active Christian Believer, the lack or diminution of satanic attacks is an indication that he has fallen for some satanic ploy, and is no longer on the right way, on God’s path. But so long as we are obeying and following God, it will keep bothering Satan, and he will keep troubling us to make us fall away from God. The implication is that the constant presence of problems in a Christian Believers life, is an indicator, that he is on the right path – God’s way, and is effective for God.

So, while we are here on earth, sufferings, problems, trials, and toil bring physical and temporal benefits, help us grow and mature in our spiritual lives, and keep us assured that we are on God’s path for our lives. In the next article, we will consider the heavenly or the next world benefits of sufferings.

    पिछले लेख से हमने दाऊद द्वारा सुलैमान को, और आज सभी मसीहियों पर समान रीति से लागू, दिए गए तीसरे निर्देश – “जितनी बातें परमेश्वर के वचन में लिखी हैं, वह उनका आज्ञाकारी बना रहे (1 राजाओं 2:3b)” पर विचार करना आरंभ किया है। पिछले लेख में हमने देखा है कि परमेश्वर के वचन की अनाज्ञाकारिता के कारण ही पाप को सँसार तथा सृष्टि में प्रवेश करने का अवसर मिला, और परमेश्वर के वचन की अनाज्ञाकारिता हमेशा ही लोगों तथा परमेश्वर की सन्तानों के लिए गंभीर समस्याएं उत्पन्न करती रही है, उन पर परमेश्वर के दण्ड, क्रोध, और घोर ताड़ना को लाती रही है। परमेश्वर अपने अनाज्ञाकारी लोगों को, जो उसे छोड़ कर सँसार और उसके सुखों के पीछे हो लेते हैं, न तो कभी छोड़ देता है और न ही उनका तिरस्कार करता है; उसने इस्राएल को नहीं छोड़ा, इस्राएल ने जो प्रभु यीशु और उसके अनुयायियों के साथ किया, उसके बावजूद भी; परंतु न तो उसने उनकी अनाज्ञाकारिता को हल्के में लिया और न ही उसकी अनदेखी की। जो भी परमेश्वर के अनाज्ञाकारिता करता है, उसे इसका परिणाम भोगना होगा और कीमत चुकानी होगी; और यह उनकी अनन्तकाल की आशीषों और प्रतिफलों को भी नष्ट करता है – ऐसे बहुतेरे मसीही विश्वासी होंगे जो स्वर्ग में छूछे हाथ प्रवेश करेंगे (1 कुरिन्थियों 3:13-15), और अनन्तकाल तक खाली हाथ ही रहेंगे; क्योंकि उन्होंने अपने मसीही जीवन वैसे व्यतीत नहीं किए जो परमेश्वर को प्रसन्न करे, उन पर उसकी आशीष लाए, और उन्हें अनन्तकालीन प्रतिफलों को प्रदान करे।

    एक अन्य बात जिसे हमें समझना अनिवार्य है, वह है कि परमेश्वर के वचन की आज्ञाकारिता का अर्थ होता है जो और जैसा परमेश्वर ने अपने वचन में लिखवाया है, उसी का पालन करना, उसी के अनुसार करना। इसका यह अर्थ कदापि नहीं है, और न ही किसी मनुष्य को अनुमति है, कि वह परमेश्वर के वचन में कोई परिवर्तन, कोई जोड़-तोड़ करे, और फिर उसे बदले हुए वचन को परमेश्वर के लोगों के समक्ष परमेश्वर का खरा वचन कह कर प्रस्तुत करे। प्रभु यीशु के सम्पूर्ण ‘पहाड़ी उपदेश’ में, अर्थात मत्ती रचित सुसमाचार के 5-7 अध्यायों में, हम देखते हैं कि प्रभु यीशु कई दफा, ‘तुमने सुना है,’ या, ‘तुम से कहा गया है,’ या इसी अभिप्राय का कोई वाक्यांश कहते हैं; और फिर, यह कहते हुए कि ‘लेकिन मैं तुम से कहता हूँ,’ वो उसका सुधारा हुआ स्वरूप बताते हैं; अर्थात जीवित वचन जिसने देहधारी होकर हमारे मध्य में डेरा किया (यूहन्ना 1:14), उन्हें सिखा रहा था कि वास्तविक निर्देश क्या था, बजाय उसके जो भ्रष्ट कर के उन्हें सिखाया गया और जिसका पालन करवाया जा रहा था। उस समय के धार्मिक अगुवों ने परमेश्वर के वचन की गलत व्याख्या करके उसका दुरुपयोग इस उद्देश्य से किया था कि वह उनके लिए सहज एवं लाभकारी हो। वे जन-सामान्य को इस भ्रष्ट किए हुए को परमेश्वर का वचन कहकर बताते और सीखते थे, और उसी का पालन करने के लिए कहते थे। मत्ती 15:1-9 में हम देखते हैं कि प्रभु यीशु शास्त्रियों और फरीसियों को फटकार लगाते हैं, उनके द्वारा अपनी ही रीतियाँ बनाकर और मनुष्यों की बनाई हुए आज्ञाओं को परमेश्वर का वचन कह कर सिखाने के लिए। उस समय लोग सामान्यतः अनपढ़ होते थे, और परमेश्वर के वचन की प्रतियां भी पढ़ने और सीखने के लिए सरलता से उपलब्ध नहीं थीं; इसीलिए लोग मजबूर थे कि धार्मिक अगुवों के द्वारा उन्हें जो भी बताया और सिखाया जाए, उसी को स्वीकार कर लें, और उसे का पालन करें।

    आज भी लगभग यही स्थिति विद्यमान है, यद्यपि परमेश्वर का वचन अनेकों भाषाओं और विभिन्न स्वरूपों – लिखित और डिजिटल रूप में; साथ ही बाइबल के अध्ययन की सामग्री भी बहुतायत से और सरलता से उपलब्ध है। और प्रभु परमेश्वर ने अपना वचन सिखाने के लिए प्रत्येक मसीही विश्वासी को अपना पवित्र आत्मा भी प्रदान कर रखा है – जैसे हम वचन के भण्डारी होने से संबंधित लेखों में विस्तार से देख चुके हैं। किन्तु फिर भी अधिकाँश “मसीही” अपने धार्मिक अगुवों पर ही भरोसा करते हैं, उन्हीं की कही हुई को सुनते और मानते हैं, उनकी डिनॉमिनेशन या मत के अगुवे जो कहते और करवाते हैं उसी का पालन करते हैं। यह तथ्य कि विभिन्न डिनॉमिनेशनों और मतों के सिद्धांतों और रीतियों में परस्पर बहुत अन्तर पाए जाते हैं इस बात का प्रमाण है कि मनुष्यों के बनाए हुए ये नियम और रिवाज़, ये सिद्धान्त और रीतियाँ, परमेश्वर का वास्तविक वचन नहीं हैं। जैसा कि प्रभु यीशु की पृथ्वी के सेवकाई के दिनों में फरीसी, शास्त्री, और अन्य धार्मिक अगुवे कर रहे थे, आज ये डिनॉमिनेशनों और मतों के धार्मिक अगुवे भी परमेश्वर के वचन की गलत व्याख्या और दुरुपयोग कर रहे हैं, उसे अपने लिए सहज और लाभकारी बनाकर उस बदले हुए तथा भ्रष्ट किए हुए वचन को परमेश्वर का सच्चा और खरा वचन बताकर सिखा रहे हैं, जो कि वह कदापि नहीं है। इसीलिए, प्रभु यीशु ने जो उस समय फरीसियों से कहा था, वही आज भी वैसे ही इन लोगों पर भी लागू होता है – “और ये व्यर्थ मेरी उपासना करते हैं, क्योंकि मनुष्यों की विधियों को धर्मोपदेश कर के सिखाते हैं” (मत्ती 15:9)। अर्थात, इन भ्रष्ट धारणाओं और रीतियों के अनुसार की जाने वाली समस्त आराधना और भक्ति “व्यर्थ आराधना” है, निष्फल और निरर्थक है। जो लोग यह करवाते और करते हैं उन्हें इससे कोई स्वर्गीय आशीष, कोई अनन्तकालीन लाभ नहीं मिलता है, वे चाहे कितनी ही ईमानदारी और श्रद्धा से इसका निर्वाह क्यों न करें।

    मसीहियों के लिए परमेश्वर के निर्देश “निर्मल आत्मिक दूध” (1 पतरस 2:2) की लालसा रखने के हैं, न परमेश्वर के वचन के नाम पर बदला हुआ, भ्रष्ट किया हुआ, जो कुछ भी सिखाया और करवाया जाए उसी में बने रहने के। जैसा हमने मसीही विश्वासी के परमेश्वर के वचन का भण्डारी होने से संबंधित लेखों में देखा है, कलीसियाओं की बढ़ोतरी और विश्वासियों की आत्मिक उन्नति के लिए आवश्यक बातों में परमेश्वर का परिशुद्ध, बिना भ्रष्ट किया गया वचन देना, सीखना, और पालन करना, एक बहुत महत्वपूर्ण स्थान रखते हैं। परिशुद्ध वचन से ही कलीसिया बढ़ती और विश्वासियों की आत्मिक उन्नति होती है, किसी अन्य से नहीं। परमेश्वर की आशीषें और प्रभु के साथ संगति केवल उसके खरे वचन के मानने वालों के साथ ही हैं (यूहन्ना 14:21, 23; यशायाह 40:31; 2 तीमुथियुस 3:15-17)।

    अगले लेख में दाऊद के द्वारा सुलैमान को दिए गए चौथे निर्देश “सावधान रहे, और हमेशा प्रभु के प्रति समर्पित बना रहे (1 राजाओं 2:4b)” पर विचार करना आरम्भ करेंगे।

    यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु, मैं अपने पापों के लिए पश्चातापी हूँ, उनके लिए आप से क्षमा माँगता हूँ। मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मुझे और मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

Obedience to God’s Word – 2

 

    Since the last article, we have begun to consider the third instruction that David gave to Solomon, and is now applicable to all the Christians – “To be obedient to the Word of God, in all things written in it (1Ki 2:3b).” In the previous article we have seen that disobedience to God’s Word caused sin to enter into creation and the world, and disobedience to God’s Word has always caused serious problems for the people and children of God; even inviting God’s retribution, wrath, and severe chastisement upon them. God does not abandon or reject His disobedient people who leave Him and go follow the world and its pleasures; He has not rejected Israel, despite what Israel has done to the Lord Jesus and to those following Him; but neither does He condone their disobedience nor takes it lightly. Anyone who disobeys God, will have to suffer and pay a price for it; and this even eats away their eternal blessings and rewards – there will be many Christian Believers who will enter heaven empty handed (1 Corinthians 3:13-15), and remain so for eternity; because they failed to live their Christian lives in a manner that would please God, bring His blessings upon them, and cause them to receive eternal rewards.

    Another thing we need to understand is that obeying God’s Word means obeying and doing according to what God has had written in His Word. It in no way means, or, permits man’s modifications and alterations of God’s Word, and then to be presented to God’s people as the pure word of God. Throughout the Sermon on the Mount, i.e., chapters 5-7 of Matthew’s Gospel, we find the Lord Jesus repeatedly teaching and saying phrases like, ‘you have heard,’ or ‘you were told,’ or implying the same; and then He presents His corrected version by stating ‘but I say to you;’ i.e., the Living Word who became flesh and dwelt amongst us (John 1:14) was  teaching them what the actual instruction ought to be, instead of the corrupted one that they had been taught and asked to practice. The religious leaders of those times had misinterpreted and misapplied God’s Word to make it suit their convenience and be of benefit to them. They were teaching this corrupted word of God to the general public and asking them to obey it. In Matthew 15:1-9 the Lord Jesus castigates the Scribes and the Pharisees for creating their own traditions and teaching commandments of men as the word of God. At that time the people were generally illiterate and copies of God’s Word were not so easily available for reading and learning; and so, the people were constrained to learn, accept, and follow whatever the religious leaders taught them and asked them to do.

    Much the same situation exists even today, although God’s word is freely available in many languages and forms – printed and digital; and so are Bible studies and teachings readily available. The Lord God has also given His Holy Spirit to each and every Christian Believer to teach them His Word, as we have seen in detail in the articles related to being a steward of God’s Word. But still, the vast majority of the “Christians” believe in and adhere to what their religious leaders, those of their denomination or sect preach and teach them. The very fact that there are major differences in the doctrines and practices of every denomination and sect is a proof that none of these man-made rules and regulations, these doctrines and practices, are actually the Word of God. Like what the Scribes and Pharisees and the other religious leaders were doing during the earthly ministry of the Lord, today’s denominational religious leaders have also manipulated and misinterpreted God’s Word to suit their convenience, and teach that modified and corrupted Word of God, as the “truth” which it most certainly is not. Therefore, what the Lord Jesus said to the Pharisees at that time, also equally applies today – “And in vain they worship Me, Teaching as doctrines the commandments of men” (Matthew 15:9) – all worship and reverence of God based on these denominational doctrines and practices is “vain worship,” i.e., it is inconsequential; it brings no blessings or rewards to those who indulge in it, no matter how piously and sincerely they may practice it.

God’s instructions to the Christian Believers are to desire the “pure milk of the word” (1 Peter 2:2), and not to accept and remain in the corrupted, adulterated thing preached and taught as ‘word of god.’ As we have seen in the articles on the Believer’s stewardship of the Church, and the factors contributing to the growth and edification of the Church and the Christian Believers, it is the pure, unadulterated, unmodified, unaltered Word of God that causes the Believers to be edified and the Church to grow, not anything else. The blessings and fellowship of the Lord is with those who obey His Word (John 14:21, 23; Isaiah 40:31; 2 Timothy 3:15-17).

In the next article we will begin considering David’s fourth instruction to Solomon, “To be careful, taking heed, to remain sincere and committed to the Lord always (1 Kings 2:4b).”

    If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord, make your decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now to ensure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Repenting of your sins, and asking the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily and sincerely, surrendering yourself to Him - is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life.  Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.
