सुसमाचार से सम्बन्धित शिक्षाओं के दूसरे अनिवार्य भाग, अर्थात सुसमाचार पर विश्वास करने के बारे में विचार करते हुए हमने देखा है कि प्रभु यीशु के क्रूस पर मारे जाने और उनके पुनरुत्थान से पहले, यहूदियों के लिए शब्द “सुसमाचार” का अर्थ था रोमी राज्य से छुड़ाया जाना। यद्यपि यहूदियों में प्रतिज्ञा किये हुए मसीहा, छुटकारा देने वाले के आगमन की प्रत्याशा थी किन्तु उनकी अपेक्षा एक ऐसे व्यक्ति के लिए थी जो उन्हें रोमियों के शासन से मुक्त करे और राज्य को फिर से उनके हाथों में कर दे। वे किसी ऐसे मसीहा या छुड़ाने वाले की प्रतीक्षा नहीं कर रहे थे जो उन्हें उनके पापों के व्यक्तिगत बन्धनों से मुक्त कर दे और उन्हें परमेश्वर के स्वर्गीय राज्य के सदस्य बना दे। जैसा कि आज सँसार भर के मसीहियों या ईसाइयों के लिए है, उसी प्रकार से उस समय के यहूदियों के लिए भी, पापों से मुक्ति पाना महत्व की बात नहीं थी। उन यहूदियों की समझ यही थी कि पापों का समाधान तो उनके द्वारा मनाए जाने वाले धार्मिक परम्पराओं, पर्वों, त्यौहारों, और रीतियों आदि के द्वारा, जिन्हें या तो पवित्र शास्त्र में दिया गया है, या जिन्हें उनके धार्मिक अगुवों ने निर्धारित किया है, बहुत सहज रीति से हो सकता है। किन्तु जैसा कि हमने पिछले लेख के उदाहरणों से देखा है, यह उनकी एक बहुत बड़ी गलतफहमी थी, और न तो पुराने नियम में, और न ही उनके मध्य में प्रभु यीशु की सेवकाई के दौरान, कभी भी यह कहा गया था कि पापों से छुटकारा किन्हीं धार्मिक अनुष्ठानों के निर्वाह या रीतियों को पूरा करने के द्वारा संभव है।

यही आज मसीहियों के लिए भी ऐसे ही सच है; उन में बहुत व्यापक रीति से प्रचलित गलत धारणा के विपरीत, जिसे अक्सर उनके धार्मिक अगुवों द्वारा पोषित और प्रोत्साहित किया जाता है, बाइबल यह स्पष्ट शिक्षा देती है कि पापों से छुटकारा उनके द्वारा धार्मिक परम्पराओं, पर्वों, त्यौहारों, और रीतियों आदि के मनाने से नहीं है। सभी के लिए इसे समझना और इस गलत धारणा से बाहर निकलना बहुत अनिवार्य है, केवल तब ही वे सुसमाचार में विश्वास करने के अर्थ को समझने पाएँगे। इसलिए, सुसमाचार में विश्वास करने पर विचार करने से पहले, जैसा कि पिछले लेख के अन्त में कहा था, हम आज के और इससे आगे के लेखों में पहले यह देखेंगे कि मसीही होने का क्या अर्थ है। उसके बाद ही फिर हम देखेंगे कि क्यों धार्मिक परम्पराओं, पर्वों, त्यौहारों, और रीतियों आदि के निर्वाह के द्वारा कोई पापों से नहीं बच सकता है और न ही स्वर्ग में प्रवेश पाने के योग्य हो सकता है। और इस सब के बाद फिर उसके आधार पर समझेंगे कि सुसमाचार पर विश्वास करने का क्या अर्थ होता है।

मसीहियों में एक और बहुत सामान्य रीति से देखी जाने वाली और उनमें फैली हुई गलत धारणा, उनके स्वतः ही परमेश्वर के राज्य में प्रवेश कर पाने के लिए प्रभु को स्वीकार्य होने के बारे में है। यह सामान्यतः, बस यूँ ही मान लिया जाता है कि एक “ईसाई” या “मसीही” परिवार में जन्म लेने के नाते और जिस परिवार में जन्म हुआ है उस से सम्बन्धित डिनॉमिनेशन या मत की धार्मिक विधियों और रीतियों का पालन करने के द्वारा, वे स्वतः ही उन लोगों का एक भाग बन गए हैं जो परमेश्वर के राज्य में प्रवेश पाने के लिए स्वीकार्य हैं, और पृथ्वी से जाने के बाद वे अवश्य ही प्रवेश पा भी जाएँगे। यह उसी के समान है जो यहूदी अपने बारे में सोचते थे – पित्रों, अब्राहम, इसहाक, और याकूब के वंशज होने के नाते, वे सभी परमेश्वर के लोग और उसके राज्य में प्रवेश करने के लिए स्वीकार्य हैं, वे चाहे जैसा भी जीवन जीएँ या जो भी करें। किन्तु प्रशिक्षित फरीसी और पुराने नियम के विद्वान, पौलुस ने इस गलतफहमी का निवारण किया और सही बात को बताया, जब उसने पवित्र आत्मा की अगुवाई में लिखा:

• क्योंकि वह यहूदी नहीं, जो प्रगट में यहूदी है और न वह खतना है जो प्रगट में है, और देह में है। पर यहूदी वही है, जो मन में है; और खतना वही है, जो हृदय का और आत्मा में है; न कि लेख का: ऐसे की प्रशंसा मनुष्यों की ओर से नहीं, परन्तु परमेश्वर की ओर से होती है। (रोमियों 2:28-29)

• तो वह क्योंकर गिना गया खतने की दशा में या बिना खतने की दशा में? खतने की दशा में नहीं परन्तु बिना खतने की दशा में। और उसने खतने का चिन्ह पाया, कि उस विश्वास की धामिर्कता पर छाप हो जाए, जो उसने बिना खतने की दशा में रखा था: जिस से वह उन सब का पिता ठहरे, जो बिना खतने की दशा में विश्वास करते हैं, और कि वे भी धर्मी ठहरें। और उन खतना किए हुओं का पिता हो, जो न केवल खतना किए हुए हैं, परन्तु हमारे पिता इब्राहीम के उस विश्वास की लीक पर भी चलते हैं, जो उसने बिन खतने की दशा में किया था। (रोमियों 4:10-12)

• परन्तु यह नहीं, कि परमेश्वर का वचन टल गया, इसलिये कि जो इस्राएल के वंश हैं, वे सब इस्राएली नहीं। और न इब्राहीम के वंश होने के कारण सब उस की सन्तान ठहरे, परन्तु लिखा है कि इसहाक ही से तेरा वंश कहलाएगा। अर्थात शरीर की सन्तान परमेश्वर की सन्तान नहीं, परन्तु प्रतिज्ञा के सन्तान वंश गिने जाते हैं। (रोमियों 9:6-8)

• क्योंकि न खतना, और न खतनारहित कुछ है, परन्तु नई सृष्टि। (गलतियों 6:15)

दूसरे शब्दों में, यहूदियों में व्याप्त पूर्वधारणा के अन्तर्गत यह गलतफहमी थी कि पित्रों के शारीरिक वंशज होने के कारण वे स्वतः ही परमेश्वर के लोग हैं; यद्यपि यह पवित्रशास्त्र के अनुसार सही नहीं थी। परमेश्वर के लोग होने के लिए उन्हें अपने पूर्वजों, अपने पित्रों के समान जीना, विश्वास करना, और व्यवहार भी करना था। पौलुस उनसे कोई नई बात नहीं कह रहा था; वह उनके सामने उसे ही दोहरा था जो परमेश्वर ने इस्राएलियों से पुराने नियम में कई बार कही थी, जैसे कि व्यवस्थाविवरण 10:16; 30:6; यशायाह 1:9-15; 48:1-2; यिर्मयाह 9:25-26; यहेजकेल 44:6-9; आदि में; जो इस बात के कुछ उदाहरण हैं कि परमेश्वर की दृष्टि में यहूदियों की वास्तविक स्थिति क्या थी। प्रभु यीशु मसीह ने भी यही बात बड़ी स्पष्टता से यहूदियों से कही थी, “उन्होंने उन को उत्तर दिया, कि हमारा पिता तो इब्राहीम है: यीशु ने उन से कहा; यदि तुम इब्राहीम के सन्तान होते, तो इब्राहीम के समान काम करते” (यूहन्ना 8:39; यहाँ पद 37-40, 44 भी देखिए)।

आज अधिकाँश मसीही भी इसी गलतफहमी में जीवन जीते हैं; वे अपने परिवार और वंशावली, और कुछ रीतियों का निर्वाह कर लेने के कारण अपने आप को स्वतः ही परमेश्वर के राज्य और आशीषों के वारिस मान लेते हैं। जैसे यहूदियों के धार्मिक अगुवों ने उनकी गलत धारणा को सही नहीं किया था, वरन उसे और बिगाड़ ही दिया था, वैसे ही आज मसीहियों के धार्मिक अगुवे भी उनकी इस गलतफहमी को ठीक करने की बजाए, उसे और अधिक प्रोत्साहित और पोषित करते रहते हैं। और इस कारण वे असंख्य लोगों के नरक में जाने के लिए ज़िम्मेदार और प्रभु को जवाबदेह होंगे। अगले लेख में हम एक ऐसी बहुत ही आधारभूत बात जिसे सभी को जानना और समझना चाहिए देखेंगे –  कि परमेश्वर का वचन वास्तव में मसीही होने के बारे में क्या कहता है।

यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। स्वेच्छा से अपने पापों के लिये प्रायश्चित करके प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु, मैं अपने पापों के लिए पश्चातापी हूँ, उनके लिए आप से क्षमा माँगता हूँ। मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मुझे और मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

In considering the second integral component of teachings related to the gospel, i.e., believing in the gospel, we have seen that to the Jews before the crucifixion, death, and resurrection of the Lord Jesus, the word “gospel” essentially meant being delivered from Roman rule. Though the Jews were anticipating the arrival of the promised Messiah, the deliverer, but they expected him to be one who would liberate them from the Romans and turn the kingdom over to them. They were not waiting for the Messiah, the deliverer who would deliver them from their personal bondage of sin and make them members of God’s heavenly Kingdom. As it now is true for most of the “Christians” all over the world, so also for the Jews of that time, they did not give importance to deliverance from sins. The Jews thought sin could conveniently be managed through their fulfilling religious obligations, feasts, festivals, and rituals, as prescribed in the Scriptures, or prescribed by their religious leaders. But as we have seen from the Biblical examples in the last article, this was a gross misunderstanding on their part, and neither in the Old Testament, nor at the time of the Lord Jesus’s ministry amongst them, was deliverance from sins possible through any religious observances and rituals.

The same holds equally true today for Christians; unlike their popular and widespread misconception; often fostered and promoted by their religious leaders, the Bible clearly teaches and shows that deliverance from sins is not through their fulfilling any religious observations, feasts, festivals, and rituals. It is absolutely essential for everyone to understand this, and come out of this misconception, only then will they understand what believing in the gospel actually means. Therefore, before taking up considering believing in the gospel, as stated at the end of the previous article, from today’s and the subsequent articles we will first consider what it means to be a Christian. Then, after that, we will see why fulfilling the religious observances, feasts, festivals, and rituals etc. cannot deliver anyone from their sins and qualify them for entering God’s Kingdom. Having considered all these, then we will apply it to see what believing in the gospel means.

There is another very common and rampant misconception amongst the Christians about their being accepted by the Lord for entering His Kingdom. The usual, taken for granted thinking is that by virtue of being born in a “Christian” family and because of having fulfilled the religious rites and rituals practised in the denomination or sect of Christianity they were born in, they have automatically become part of those who are entitled to enter God’s Kingdom, and will surely do so once they depart from earth. This is much the same, as the Jews thought about themselves – being the descendants of the Patriarchs Abraham, Issac, and Jacob, they were all the people of God and entitled to being in His kingdom, no matter what they did and how they lived. But the learned Pharisee, and a scholar of the Old Testament, Paul, settles this misconception and sets the record straight, when he under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit writes:

• For he is not a Jew who is one outwardly, nor is circumcision that which is outward in the flesh; but he is a Jew who is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the Spirit, not in the letter; whose praise is not from men but from God. (Romans 2:28-29)

• How then was it accounted? While he was circumcised, or uncircumcised? Not while circumcised, but while uncircumcised. And he received the sign of circumcision, a seal of the righteousness of the faith which he had while still uncircumcised, that he might be the father of all those who believe, though they are uncircumcised, that righteousness might be imputed to them also, and the father of circumcision to those who not only are of the circumcision, but who also walk in the steps of the faith which our father Abraham had while still uncircumcised. (Romans 4:10-12)

• But it is not that the word of God has taken no effect. For they are not all Israel who are of Israel, nor are they all children because they are the seed of Abraham; but, "In Isaac your seed shall be called." That is, those who are the children of the flesh, these are not the children of God; but the children of the promise are counted as the seed. (Romans 9:6-8)

• For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision avails anything, but a new creation. (Galatians 6:15)

In other words, the Jews were under the misconception that by being the physical descendants of the Patriarchs, automatically qualified them to be the people of God; although this was not the Scriptural truth. To be the people of God, they had to live, believe, and behave as the people of God, as their forefathers, the Patriarchs did. Paul was not stating anything new; he was only reiterating what God had already told the Israelites in the Old Testament, as in Deuteronomy 10:16; 30:6; Isaiah 1:9-15; 48:1-2; Jeremiah 9:25-26; Ezekiel 44:6-9; which are a few examples of God telling the Jews in the Old Testament what they actually were in His sight. The Lord Jesus also made it clear to the Jews very bluntly, “They answered and said to Him, "Abraham is our father." Jesus said to them, "If you were Abraham's children, you would do the works of Abraham” (John 8:39; see verses 37-40, 44).

Most of the Christians today live under the same misconception, considering themselves to automatically be entitled to God’s Kingdom and blessings, because of their family and their fulfilling certain rituals. Just as the religious leaders of the Jews did not correct their misconception, but only compounded it. Similarly, today the religious leaders of the Christians instead of correcting their misconception, only promote, and nurture it. And therefore, they will be responsible and accountable to God for the countless people going to hell. In the next article, we will see something very fundamental and which everyone needs to know and understand – what God’s Word actually says about being a Christian.

If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord, make your decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now to ensure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Voluntarily repent of your sins and ask the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily and sincerely surrender yourself to Him - this is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life.  Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.

पिछले लेख में हमने राजा योशिय्याह के उदाहरण से देखा था कि वास्तविक पश्चाताप जीवन में आए परिवर्तन से प्रमाणित होता है। ये परिवर्तन व्यक्ति के जीवन में दिखाई देने लगते हैं। वह व्यक्ति अपनी पुरानी बातों और व्यवहार को छोड़ कर, ऐसी नई बातों को, जो परमेश्वर के वचन और इच्छा के अनुसार हैं, अपने जीवन और व्यवहार में ले आता है (रोमियों 12:2; 2 कुरिन्थियों 5:17)। न केवल व्यक्ति में परिवर्तन आता है, वरन उस में साथ ही यह इच्छा भी आ जाती है कि अन्य लोग भी जो अभी अपनी गलतियों में बने हुए हैं, वे भी परिवर्तित हो जाएँ। साथ ही हमने योशिय्याह के उदाहरण से यह भी देखा था कि इसका ‘धार्मिक’ या ‘भक्त’ होने से कोई लेना-देना नहीं है; योशिय्याह, ‘धार्मिक’ और ‘भक्त’ दोनों ही था, और पहले से ही वह काम कर रहा था जो परमेश्वर की दृष्टि में सही थे। जब परमेश्वर का वचन उसे पढ़कर सुनाया गया था, वह अपने पूर्वज दाऊद के मार्गों में चला करता था (2 इतिहास 34:2), और वह बड़ी लग्न से अपने राज्य में से मूर्ति पूजा की सभी बातों को नष्ट करने में लगा हुआ था (2 इतिहास 34:3-8)। उसके धर्मी, भक्त, और प्रभु के लिए उत्साही, अर्थात ऐसा होने के बावजूद जैसा हम में से अधिकाँश कभी होने की कल्पना भी नहीं कर सकते हैं, जब उसने परमेश्वर के वचन को सुना, उसे तुरन्त ही परमेश्वर के मानकों के सम्मुख अपनी वास्तविक दशा का बोध हो गया। परमेश्वर के वचन ने उसे कायल किया, और वह पश्चाताप में परमेश्वर के सम्मुख आ गया (2 इतिहास 34:19)। उसका यह पश्चाताप फिर उसके बदले हुए जीवन और कार्यों के द्वारा प्रमाणित हुआ – वही बात जिसकी माँग यूहन्ना बपतिस्मा देने वाला फरीसियों से कर रहा था (मत्ती 3:7-8)। 

हम यही बात अय्यूब के जीवन में होती हुई भी देखते हैं; अय्यूब खरा, सीधा, परमेश्वर का भय मानने वाला, और बुराई से परे रहने वाला व्यक्ति था (अय्यूब 1:1); और उसके विषय परमेश्वर ने दो बार कहा कि पृथ्वी पर उसके समान और कोई नहीं था (अय्यूब 1:8; 2:3)। अय्यूब की सम्पूर्ण पुस्तक में, अय्यूब अपने निर्दोष और धर्मी होने पर दृढ़ता से बना रहता है और निरन्तर उसके मित्रों के द्वारा उस पर लगाए जा रहे दोषों का खण्डन करता रहता है। परन्तु अन्ततः, जब उसका सामना परमेश्वर से होता है, उसे तुरन्त ही अपनी वास्तविक दशा का एहसास हो जाता है, और वह परमेश्वर के सम्मुख पश्चाताप में आ जाता है, अपने आप को तुच्छ और घृणित कहता है (अय्यूब 40:3-4; 42:5-6)।

इसलिए वे लोग जो अपने ‘धार्मिक’ और ‘भक्त’ होने को पश्चातापी होने का प्रमाण, या फिर परमेश्वर को स्वीकार्य होने के समान समझते हैं, वे बहुत बड़ी गलतफहमी में हो सकते हैं। इसी प्रकार से वे लोग भी गलतफहमी में हैं जो भले कामों को करने, धार्मिक रीतियों, विधियों, और त्यौहारों का निर्वाह करने, विभिन्न प्रकार के ‘धार्मिक कार्य’ करने, के आधार पर यह सोचते हैं कि वे भी ‘पश्चातापी’ या मन-फिराव वाले लोगों की श्रेणी में गिन लिए जाएँगे। ऐसे सभी लोगों को अपने बारे में फिर से विचार करने और इस घोर गलत धारणा से, जिस में वे जीवन जी रहे हैं, बाहर निकलने की आवश्यकता है। जिन फरीसियों को यूहन्ना बपतिस्मा देने वाले ने धिक्कारा था, और उन्हें ‘सांप के बच्चों’ तक कह दिया था, वे बड़े धार्मिक लोग होते थे; प्रभु यीशु मसीह ने भी उनके धार्मिक होने को माना था, परन्तु उनकी धार्मिकता को स्वर्ग में प्रवेश करने के लिए पर्याप्त नहीं माना (मत्ती 5:20)। उन बहुत धर्मी और भक्त फरीसियों के सरदार, नीकुदेमुस से प्रभु यीशु ने दो टूक कह दिया कि यदि वह नया-जन्म न ले, तो स्वर्ग के राज्य में प्रवेश तो दूर, वह उस देख भी नहीं सकेगा (यूहन्ना 3:3, 5, 7)। वे भक्त यहूदी (प्रेरितों 2:5), जो यरूशलेम में अपने धार्मिक कर्तव्यों और रीतियों को पूरा करने के लिए एकत्रित थे, पिन्तेकुस्त के दिन जब उन्होंने पतरस का प्रचार सुना, तो उस से उनके हृदय छिद गए, और वे परिस्थिति के समाधान के लिए पुकार उठे, प्रभु के शिष्यों से पूछने लगे, कि उन्हें क्या करना चाहिए? तो उन्हें पतरस का उत्तर था कि वे मन फिराएं अर्थात पश्चाताप करें (प्रेरितों 2:37-38)। पौलुस एक बहुत धर्मी तथा परमेश्वर के लिए बहुत उत्साही फरीसी था, इतना कि वह दावे के साथ यह कह सका कि व्यवस्था के आधार पर वह निर्दोष था (फिलिप्पियों 3:4-6); परन्तु जब उसका सामना प्रभु यीशु से हुआ, वह पश्चाताप में आ गया, और उसका जीवन पूर्णतः बदल गया।

इसलिए कृपया शैतान के इस झाँसे में न फँसें, कि धर्मी, भक्त, श्रद्धापूर्ण आदि होने के द्वारा, तथा धार्मिक कार्यों, और रीतियों के निर्वाह के द्वारा लोग स्वतः ही पश्चातापी या मन-फिराव किए हुए भी मान लिए है जाते हैं – कदापि नहीं; ऐसा कभी संभव नहीं। जैसा कि परमेश्वर के वचन के उपरोक्त उदाहरणों से स्पष्ट है, धार्मिक होना पश्चातापी होना नहीं है। और हर किसी को, परमेश्वर के अनुयायियों को भी – उस समय यहूदियों और उनके धार्मिक अगुवों को, और अब उनके साथ मसीहियों या ईसाइयों और उनके धार्मिक अगुवों को, सभी को पश्चाताप करना है; क्योंकि यह करना सभी के लिये परमेश्वर की आज्ञा है (प्रेरितों 17:29-31)। यह आज्ञा वैकल्पिक नहीं है, और न ही यह ऐसी है जो कुछ लोगों के लिए लागू मानी जाए किन्तु अन्य लोगों के लिए नहीं। परमेश्वर की आज्ञा है कि हर स्थान पर, हर किसी को पश्चाताप करना ही है (पद 30), और इसका अर्थ भी ठीक यही है – हर स्थान पर हर किसी को।

अगले लेख में हम पश्चाताप के बारे में कुछ बातों को देखेंगे।

यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। स्वेच्छा तथा सच्चे मन से अपने पापों के लिये पश्चाताप करके और प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु, मैं अपने पापों के लिए पश्चातापी हूँ, उनके लिए आप से क्षमा माँगता हूँ। मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मुझे और मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

Teachings Related to the Gospel – 5

 

In the previous article, we had seen through the example of King Josiah that true repentance is evidenced by a changed life. These changes are evident in the person’s life. Such a person gives up the old things and behavior, and brings in new things and behavior in life, things that are in accordance with God’s Word and will (Romans 12:2; 2 Corinthians 5:17). Not only does the person change, but there comes a desire in that person to see others, who are still in their errors repent and change as well. We also saw from Josiah’s example, this has nothing to do with being ‘religious’ or ‘devout;’ Josiah was both ‘religious’ as well as ‘devout’ and already was doing things that were right in the sight of God. He used to walk in the ways of his forefather David (2 Chronicles 34:2), and was zealously destroying all pagan worship in his kingdom (2 Chronicles 34:3-8) at the time God’s Word was read to him. On hearing God’s Word, despite his being religious, devout, zealous for the Lord in a manner that hardly any of us can ever think of being, he immediately realized his actual state as per the standards of God’s Word. He was convicted by God’s Word and he came down in repentance (2 Chronicles 34:19). This repentance became evident by his changed life and works – John the Baptist had demanded this very thing of the Pharisees (Matthew 3:7-8). 

We see the same thing happening to Job, a person who was blameless, upright, feared God and shunned evil (Job 1:1), and for whom twice God says that there was none like him on earth (Job 1:8; 2:3). Throughout the Book of Job, Job keeps holding on to his grounds of being blameless and righteous and continually keeps disproving the charges being levelled against him by his friends. But eventually, when he is confronted by God, he immediately realises his actual condition, and comes down in repentance before God, calling himself vile and abhorring himself (Job 40:3-4; 42:5-6).

So, those who equate being ‘religious’ and ‘devout’ as evidence of being repentant, or as evidence of being acceptable to God, can be in a gross misunderstanding. Similarly, those who think that their good works, their fulfilling religious rituals, feasts and festivals, and carrying out ‘religious works’ of various kinds qualifies them as those who are ‘repentant’ are caught up in a serious misconception. All such people need to think again about these gross errors that they are living in. The Pharisees whom John the Baptist rebuked, calling them a ‘brood of vipers’ were very religious people; even the Lord Jesus acknowledged their righteousness, but also called it inadequate to enter the Kingdom of God (Matthew 5:20). To Nicodemus, the leader of these very religious and pious Pharisees, the Lord Jesus bluntly stated that unless he was Born-Again, he would not even see the Kingdom of God, let alone enter it (John 3:3, 5, 7). To the devout Jews (Acts 2:5) gathered in Jerusalem to fulfil their religious obligations and requirements, when they were cut to their hearts on listening to Peter’s sermon on the day of Pentecost, and wanting to know what to do to rectify the situation, they cried out to the Lord’s disciples. Peter's answer to them was for them to repent (Acts 2:37-38). Paul was a very religious Pharisee and was very zealous for God, so much so that he could boldly claim that as far as the Law was concerned, he was blameless (Philippians 3:4-6); but when confronted by the Lord Jesus, came down in repentance, and his life changed altogether.

So, please do not fall for this ploy of Satan, who deceives by making people think that by being religious, devout, and pious, by fulfilling religious rituals and works, they automatically also become repentant – no way; this never happens! As the above examples from God’s Word amply illustrate, being religious is not the same as being repentant. And everyone, even the followers of God – the then Jews and their religious leaders, and now the Christians and their religious leaders also, everyone must repent; for this is the commandment of God to everyone (Acts 17:29-31). This command is not optional, and neither is it meant only for some and not for others. The command of God is that all men everywhere must repent (v. 30), and that is exactly what it means – all men everywhere.

We will see some more aspects of repentance in the next article.

Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Voluntarily and sincerely repent of your sins and ask the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily and sincerely, surrender yourself to Him - this is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life.  Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.

हम पिछले कुछ लेखों से देखते आ रहे हैं कि पवित्र आत्मा से सम्बन्धित गलत शिक्षा फैलाने  वाले लोग, उनके द्वारा वचन की गलत व्याख्या और तोड़-मरोड़ कर प्रस्तुत करने के आधार पर दी गई शिक्षाओं के बचाव के लिए भय को एक हथियार बनाकर प्रयोग करते हैं। इन लोगों की एक और प्रमुख शिक्षा, जिसे वे अपने बचाव के लिए प्रयोग करते हैं, है “पवित्र आत्मा की निन्दा कभी क्षमा न होने वाला पाप है।” यदि कोई इनसे स्पष्टीकरण माँगता है, या उनकी शिक्षाओं को जाँचना परखना चाहता है, तो ये इसे पवित्र आत्मा की निन्दा, जो कभी क्षमा नहीं की जाएगी बताकर, उसे डराकर, रोक देते हैं। यह समझने के लिए कि यह “निरादर” या “निन्दा” वास्तव में है क्या, और यह क्यों केवल परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा ही के विरुद्ध ही क्षमा नहीं हो सकता है, परमेश्वर पिता और परमेश्वर पुत्र के विरुद्ध ऐसा क्यों नहीं है। इसके लिए हमने पिछले लेखों में परमेश्वर के वचन में से कुछ तथ्यों एवं शिक्षाओं को देखना आरंभ किया है, और पहले त्रिएक परमेश्वर के तीनों स्वरूपों, पिता, पुत्र और पवित्र आत्मा के बारे में अपने इस विषय के संदर्भ से देखा है। फिर हमने देखा कि लूसिफर का पाप क्यों क्षमा नहीं हो सकता था; और यह भी समझा था कि वचन के अनुसार निन्दा (blasphemy) शब्द का वास्तव में क्या अर्थ और अभिप्राय होता है, और वचन के संदर्भ एवं प्रयोग के अनुसार क्यों जन-साधारण का हर संदेह, अविश्वास, अभद्र भाषा का प्रयोग, आदि, पवित्र आत्मा की निन्दा की श्रेणी में नहीं आता है; प्रभु यीशु द्वारा यह बात केवल धार्मिक अगुवों ही के लिए क्यों कही गई। आज हम देखेंगे कि क्यों प्रभु यीशु ने यह बात कि “पवित्र आत्मा की निन्दा कभी क्षमा न होने वाला पाप है” केवल वचन के ज्ञानियों और शिक्षकों, फरीसियों के लिए ही क्यों कही है (मरकुस 3:28-30 और लूका 12:10)। यह समझने के लिए कि किस प्रकार से फरीसियों के लिए प्रभु यीशु का निरादर करना क्षमा न हो सकने वाले पाप ठहरा, इस संदर्भ में वचन के कुछ हवालों को देखिए:     * यूहन्ना 3:1-3 को देखिए: फरीसियों में से नीकुदेमुस नाम एक मनुष्य था, जो यहूदियों का सरदार था। उसने रात को यीशु के पास आकर उस से कहा, हे रब्बी, हम जानते हैं, कि तू परमेश्वर की ओर से गुरु हो कर आया है; क्योंकि कोई इन चिन्हों को जो तू दिखाता है, यदि परमेश्वर उसके साथ न हो, तो नहीं दिखा सकता। यीशु ने उसको उत्तर दिया; कि मैं तुझ से सच सच कहता हूं, यदि कोई नये सिरे से न जन्मे तो परमेश्वर का राज्य देख नहीं सकता। यहाँ, यह बिलकुल स्पष्ट है कि निकुदेमुस ने प्रभु से जो कहा - “हम जानते हैं”, उसके अनुसार न केवल वह स्वयं, वरन फरीसी समाज के सभी लोग भली-भांति जानते थे कि प्रभु यीशु, परमेश्वर की ओर से गुरु होकर आए हैं। तथा सभी फरीसी यह भी समझते थे कि प्रभु यीशु के कार्य यह प्रमाणित करते थे कि परमेश्वर उनके साथ है, और उन में होकर काम कर रहा है।     * धर्म के ये अगुवे प्रभु यीशु के, उस के सेवकाई से पहले के जीवन के बारे में, न तो अनजान थे और न किसी संदेह में थे; वरन, वे उसके विषय सब बातों के बारे में अच्छे से जानते थे! इसीलिए जब प्रभु यीशु ने उन्हें चुनौती दी कि तुम में से कौन मुझे पापी ठहराता है? और यदि मैं सच बोलता हूं, तो तुम मेरी प्रतीति क्यों नहीं करते? (यूहन्ना 8:46), तो उनमें से कोई भी प्रभु के जीवन में कोई पाप या बुराई को नहीं बता सका, कोई भी प्रभु को किसी भी बात में दोषी नहीं ठहरा सका।     * इसी प्रकार से जब तब फरीसियों ने जा कर आपस में विचार किया, कि उसको किस प्रकार बातों में फंसाएं। सो उन्होंने अपने चेलों को हेरोदियों के साथ उसके पास यह कहने को भेजा, कि हे गुरु; हम जानते हैं, कि तू सच्चा है; और परमेश्वर का मार्ग सच्चाई से सिखाता है; और किसी की परवाह नहीं करता, क्योंकि तू मनुष्यों का मुंह देखकर बातें नहीं करता (मत्ती 22:15-16) तब भी उन्होंने उसे “हे गुरु” कहकर संबोधित किया, तथा इस तथ्य का अंगीकार किया कि प्रभु यीशु सच्चा है, परमेश्वर का मार्ग सच्चाई से सिखाता है, और निष्पक्ष, निष्कपट व्यवहार करता है।     * जब प्रभु यीशु मसीह को पकड़वाने वाले उनके शिष्य यहूदा इस्करियोती ने अपने किए पर दुख जताया और उन धर्म के अगुवों के पास आकर कहा, जब उसके पकड़वाने वाले यहूदा ने देखा कि वह दोषी ठहराया गया है तो वह पछताया और वे तीस चान्‍दी के सिक्के महायाजकों और पुरनियों के पास फेर लाया। और कहा, मैं ने निर्दोष को घात के लिये पकड़वाकर पाप किया है? उन्होंने कहा, हमें क्या? तू ही जान (मत्ती 27:3-4), तब भी, यद्यपि उन्होंने यहूदा की बात को अनसुनी कर दिया, किन्तु उन्होंने प्रभु यीशु के निर्दोष होने की उसकी बात को अस्वीकार नहीं किया, उसके विषय कोई तर्क नहीं किया; अर्थात, परोक्ष रूप में प्रभु के निर्दोष होने को स्वीकार कर लिया।     * और न ही प्रभु ने अपने बारे में उन्हें किसी संदेह में छोड़ा था; अनेकों अवसरों पर, यहाँ तक कि उस समय तक भी जब उन्हें झूठे मुकद्दमों में दोषी ठहराने के प्रयास किए जा रहे थे, प्रभु ने यह बारंबार स्पष्ट बता दिया था कि वह कौन है (यूहन्ना 5:17-43; 8:25; 10:24; 14:11; लूका 22:67-70)। परन्तु प्रभु यीशु के वास्तविकता को भली-भांति जानते हुए भी उन्होंने कभी भी प्रभु पर विश्वास नहीं किया (यूहन्ना 12:37)। उलटे, उनके बारे में यह सब सत्य जानते हुए भी, बुरे उद्देश्यों एवं स्वार्थी भावनाओं के अंतर्गत, उन्होंने प्रभु को मार डालने का षड्यंत्र रचा (यूहन्ना 11:47-50)।     दूसरे शब्दों में, यद्यपि यहूदियों के धार्मिक अगुवे यह भली-भांति जानते थे कि प्रभु यीशु वास्तव में कौन हैं, और यह भी कि परमेश्वर उनके साथ है, तथा उन में होकर कार्य कर रहा है। फिर भी जानबूझकर, स्वार्थी लाभ के लिए, उन्होंने प्रभु को नज़रन्दाज़ किया, उन पर अविश्वास किया, और सबसे बुरा यह कि जानबूझकर उनके बारे में लोगों का गलत मार्गदर्शन किया। उन्होंने सभी के समक्ष प्रभु के कार्यों और शिक्षाओं में होकर दिखाए जा रहे परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा की सामर्थ्य को शैतानों के सरदार की सामर्थ्य कहने के द्वारा न केवल प्रभु और परमेश्वर के विषय झूठ बोला, वरन प्रभु में होकर कार्य करने वाली पवित्र आत्मा की सामर्थ्य को शैतानी शक्ति बताया। अब पहले लेख में हमने जो “निन्दा” (blasphemy) शब्द का वचन के अनुसार वास्तविक अर्थ को और उसके अभिप्रायों के बारे में सीखा था, उसे स्मरण कीजिए या फिर से देख लीजिए। उन फरीसियों तथा धर्म के अगुवों की यह, प्रभु के विरोध में, और स्वार्थ के अंतर्गत जानबूझकर कही गई बात; प्रभु के बारे में जानकारी रखते हुए भी और यह जानते हुए भी कि प्रभु पर उनके द्वारा लगाए जाने वाले आरोप झूठे हैं, फिर भी झूठ बोलकर प्रभु का निरादर करना, उन्हें अपमानित करना, और उनमें होकर कार्य करने वाली पवित्र आत्मा की सामर्थ्य को शैतानी सामर्थ्य कहना, केवल इसे ही प्रभु ने पवित्र आत्मा के विरुद्ध किया गया कभी क्षमा न हो सकने वाला पाप कहा है; अन्य किसी बात को नहीं।     इसलिए, पवित्र आत्मा के विरुद्ध कभी क्षमा न हो सकने वाले पाप वह नहीं हैं जो बहुधा वर्तमान के अनेकों धार्मिक अगुवों के द्वारा कहे और बताए जाते हैं; और जो वचन, विशेषकर पवित्र आत्मा से संबंधित गलत शिक्षाओं को देने वाले बताते और फैलाते हैं। बाइबल में यह वाक्यांश एक बहुत ही विशिष्ट अपराध के लिए प्रयोग किया गया है, और केवल उस अपराध को ही यह कहा जाना चाहिए। अपनी गलत शिक्षाओं के विषय प्रश्नों से बचने के लिए लोगों को “पवित्र आत्मा की निन्दा” का भय दिखाना या कहना झूठ है, अनुचित है, वचन का दुरुपयोग है।     यदि आप एक मसीही विश्वासी हैं, तो आपके लिए यह जानना और समझना अति-आवश्यक है कि आप परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा से संबंधित इन गलत शिक्षाओं में न पड़ जाएं; न खुद भरमाए जाएं, और न ही आपके द्वारा कोई और भरमाया जाए। लोगों द्वारा कही जाने वाले ही नहीं, वरन वचन में लिखी हुई बातों पर भी ध्यान दें, और लोगों की बातों को वचन की बातों से मिला कर जाँचें और परखें। यदि आप इन गलत शिक्षाओं में पड़ चुके हैं, तो अभी वचन के अध्ययन और बात को जाँच-परख कर, सही शिक्षा को, उसी के पालन को अपना लें।     यदि आपने अभी तक प्रभु की शिष्यता को स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी उसके पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। यदि आपने अभी तक नया जन्म, उद्धार नहीं पाया है, प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा नहीं माँगी है, तो अभी आपके पास समय और अवसर है कि यह कर लें। प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” परमेश्वर आपके साथ संगति रखने की बहुत लालसा रखता है तथा आपको आशीषित देखना चाहता है, लेकिन इसे सम्भव करना आपका व्यक्तिगत निर्णय है। सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी। क्या आप अभी समय और अवसर होते हुए, इस प्रार्थना को नहीं करेंगे? Understanding The Sin of Blasphemy Against the Holy Spirit (Part-5)

    

    We have been seeing for the past few articles that to cover up their concocted notions made up through misuse and misinterpretation of Biblical facts, and to prevent people from analyzing their claims and raising questions, they use fear as a tactic. If anyone tries to examine their false notions, they discourage him from doing so by telling them that they are committing the unpardonable sin of the blasphemy of the Holy Spirit, and should back-off, stop doing this, simply accept what has been said, else they will face very serious consequences from God. In the previous articles we have been looking into the veracity of these claims made by them, and had considered in context of the Holy Trinity, God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit, the Triune God, why blasphemy could be considered as unpardonable only against the Holy Spirit, and not against God the Father and the Lord Jesus. We then saw why Lucifer’s sin was unforgivable, and also understood from God’s Word what the word “blasphemy” means. We saw from God’s Word that what the Lord Jesus said was specifically directed against the religious leaders; but every doubt, unbelief, use of inappropriate language, etc. against God by the general public did not constitute the unpardonable sin of blasphemy against the Holy Spirit. Today we will see what “blasphemy of the Holy Spirit” implies in context of the Lord Jesus saying this (Mark 3:28-30 and Luke 12:10); the statement that these people misinterpret and misuse to safeguard themselves.

    To understand why the Lord said to the Pharisees that their dishonoring Him constituted the unpardonable sin of blasphemy against the Holy Spirit, let us look at some related passages from the Bible:

    * Consider John 3:1-3: There was a man of the Pharisees named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews. This man came to Jesus by night and said to Him, "Rabbi, we know that You are a teacher come from God; for no one can do these signs that You do unless God is with him." Jesus answered and said to him, "Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God." It is very evident from the use of “we know that” by Nicodemus that not just he but the sect of Pharisees, amongst whom he was a ‘ruler’, knew very well that Lord Jesus has come as a ‘Rabbi’, a teacher, from God. They also knew that Jesus’s works proved that God was with Him, and worked through Him.

    * These religious leaders were neither unaware of, nor were in any doubts about the Lord Jesus, His life, and His ministry; they knew and understood it all very well. Therefore, when the Lord Jesus challenged them, Which of you convicts Me of sin? And if I tell the truth, why do you not believe Me? (John 8:46), no one could point out any fault or sin in Him, could not show Him to be guilty of anything wrong, in any way.

    * Similarly, on another occasion Then the Pharisees went and plotted how they might entangle Him in His talk. And they sent to Him their disciples with the Herodians, saying, "Teacher, we know that You are true, and teach the way of God in truth; nor do You care about anyone, for You do not regard the person of men (Matthew 22:15-16), then too they addressed Him as ‘Teacher’, and acknowledged the fact that Lord Jesus was true, taught the way of God in truth, was impartial and without any deceit.

    * When Judas Iscariot was remorseful about what he had done in betraying the Lord Jesus and getting Him arrested, he went to these religious leaders and said, Then Judas, His betrayer, seeing that He had been condemned, was remorseful and brought back the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders, saying, "I have sinned by betraying innocent blood." And they said, "What is that to us? You see to it!" (Matthew 27:3-4), then too, although they did not pay heed to the plea of Judas, but neither did they dispute his calling Jesus innocent, raised no argument to counter his claim. In other words, they indirectly agreed that Lord Jesus was innocent.

    * Neither did the Lord Jesus ever leave them in any doubt about Himself; on multiple occasions, even when after arresting Him they were trying to frame Him up in “mock courts”, the Lord made clear who He was to them (John 5:17-43; 8:25; 10:24; 14:11; Luke 22:67-70). But despite knowing the truth about the Lord Jesus, they never believed on Him (John 12:37). Instead, although they knew the truth about Him, they conspired to have Him killed for selfish and foul reasons (John 11:47-50).

    In other words, although the Jewish religious leaders well knew who Lord Jesus actually is, and that God was with Him, works through Him, even then for selfish reasons and with bad motives they kept ignoring Him, did not believe in Him, and worst of all, they deliberately misguided the people about Him. By publicly calling the works and teachings of the Lord Jesus, that were being done and demonstrated openly through the power of the Holy Spirit amongst the people as things being done by the power of the ‘prince of the devils’, not only did they speak a lie against the Lord and God, but also called the power of the Holy Spirit working through the Lord as satanic. Now, recall and review the definition, understanding, and various implications of the word ‘blasphemy’ which we have seen in the earlier article. This thing that these religious leaders intentionally did against the Lord Jesus, for selfish reasons and with bad motives, despite well knowing everything about the Lord Jesus, and being fully aware that their accusations against Him were false; and yet speaking lies against Him, maligning Him, dishonoring Him, and calling the power working in and through Him as satanic - this and only this is what the Lord Jesus called the unpardonable sin of blasphemy of the Holy Spirit, not anything else!

    Therefore, the unpardonable sin of blasphemy of the Holy Spirit is not what is commonly preached, taught, and misused to escape being answerable today, especially by those who preach and teach wrong things about the Holy Spirit. This phrase has been used in the Bible with a very specific meaning, against a very specific sin; and that is what it should always be used for, nothing else. To use it to instill fear among people to avoid being called to explain or answer for their wrong teachings, is wrong, is a misuse of God’s Word, is speaking lies.

    If you are a Christian Believer, then it is very essential for you to know and learn that you do not get beguiled and misled into wrong teachings and doctrines about the Holy Spirit; neither should you get deceived, nor should anyone else be deceived through you. Take note of the things written in God’s Word, not on things spoken by the people; always cross-check and verify all messages and teachings from the Word of God. If you have already been entangled in wrong teachings, then by cross-checking and verifying them from the Word of God, hold to only that which is the truth, follow it, and reject the rest.

    If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord Jesus, then take a decision in its favor now to secure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. The Lord's security and blessings are present where there is obedience of the Lord, where His Word is honored and followed. If you are still not Born Again, have not obtained salvation, or have not asked the Lord Jesus for forgiveness for your sins, then you have the time and opportunity to do so right now. Ask the Lord Jesus to forgive your sins, and voluntarily and sincerely surrender yourselves into His hands - this is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. All you have to do is say a short prayer, voluntarily and with a sincere heart, with heartfelt repentance for your sins, and a fully submissive attitude. You can do this in this manner, “Lord Jesus, I confess that I have disobeyed You, and have knowingly or unknowingly, in mind, in thought, in attitude, and in deeds, committed sins. I believe that you have fully borne the punishment of my sins by your sacrifice on the cross, and have paid the full price of those sins for all eternity. Please forgive my sins, change my heart and mind towards you, and make me your disciple, take me with you." God longs for your company and wants to see you blessed, but to make this possible, is your personal decision. One prayer said with a sincere and surrendered heart will turn your present and future, your life here on earth and in the next world, forever and make you heavenly and blessed. Will you not say this prayer now, while you have the time and opportunity to do so? The decision is yours.

    पिछले लेख में हमने इब्रानियों 6:1-2 में दी गई आरंभिक बातों में से पहली, अर्थात मरे हुए कामों से मन फिराना को देखना आरम्भ किया था। हमने सीखा था कि “मरे हुए काम” वे भले और धार्मिक दिखने वाले काम हैं जो मसीही करते तो हैं, और अकसर बहुत श्रद्धा और भक्ति के साथ करते हैं, किन्तु उन के करने से उन मसीहियों के आत्मिक जीवनों में कोई उन्नति नहीं होती है, कोई परिपक्वता नहीं आती है। यद्यपि इस प्रकार के कार्य इस धारणा के साथ किए जाते हैं कि उन से मसीहियों को परमेश्वर से प्रशंसा और आशीष प्राप्त होगी, किन्तु मसीहियों के जीवन में वे व्यर्थ और निष्फल ही रहते हैं। ऐसा इसलिए होता है क्योंकि ये उन  के लिए परमेश्वर द्वारा निर्धारित किए हुए कार्य नहीं हैं, बल्कि वे कार्य हैं जो उन मसीहियों ने अपनी ही कल्पना के अनुसार अपने लिए निर्धारित कर लिए हैं, और वे उन्हें अपनी ही बुद्धि और समझ के अनुसार करते हैं, न कि परमेश्वर की आज्ञाकारिता में, और फिर उन कार्यों को परमेश्वर पर थोप देते हैं कि उन्हें उन के लिए प्रतिफल दिए जाएँ।

    अधिकांशतः ये कार्य शैतानी युक्तियाँ होते हैं जो मसीही को परमेश्वर के वचन का अध्ययन और पालन करने से, तथा उनके लिए परमेश्वर की इच्छा को समझने और जानने से दूर रखते हैं। बल्कि मसीहियों को बहका और भरमा कर उन्हें, परमेश्वर की आज्ञाओं के भेष में सिखाई जाने वाली मनुष्यों की आज्ञाओं तथा मनुष्यों द्वारा बनाए गए रीति-रिवाजों और परम्पराओं का पालन करने में डाल देते हैं। बाइबल हमें सिखाती है कि जो एकमात्र बात परमेश्वर को प्रसन्न करती है वह है उसकी तथा उसके वचन की आज्ञाकारिता (व्यवस्थाविवरण 5:29; 1 शमूएल 15:22; यिर्मयाह 7:22-23)। परमेश्वर के नाम में किन्तु अपनी ही कल्पनाओं के अनुसार परन्तु की गई बातों से परमेश्वर बिल्कुल प्रसन्न नहीं होता है, चाहे वे धार्मिक, भक्तिपूर्ण, और भली ही क्यों न हों, और लोग उन्हें कितना भी क्यों ना सराहें। परमेश्वर ऐसे कामों के लिए कोई आशीष अथवा प्रतिफल नहीं देता है, वरन ऐसे काम, उन के करने वालों के लिए बहुत हानि उत्पन्न कर सकते हैं; और इसीलिए पहली आरंभिक बात है इस प्रकार के सभी कार्यों के करने से मन फिराना। आज से हम इसे बाइबल के कुछ उदाहरणों द्वारा देखना आरंभ करेंगे।

    इस प्रकार के अपनी ही कल्पना से किए गए, और न केवल व्यर्थ और निष्फल, वरन अनन्तकाल के लिए हानिकारक और विनाशक कामों का एक उदाहरण लोगों द्वारा स्वयं ही निर्धारित की गई वे सेवकाइयाँ हैं जिन्हें वे प्रभु के नाम में बड़े जोर-शोर और उत्साह से करते हैं (मत्ती 7:21-23)। प्रभु के “पहाड़ी उपदेश” से लिए गए इस खण्ड के लेख पर ध्यान कीजिए, प्रभु यीशु के स्वयं के शब्दों में, उन लोगों द्वारा की जा रही सेवकाइयाँ, अर्थात भविष्यवाणी करना, दुष्टात्माओं को निकालना, और अचम्भे के काम करना, ये सभी वास्तव में हुए थे। ये लोग प्रभु से यह नहीं कह रहे हैं कि उन्होंने उसके नाम में यह करने के प्रयास किये थे, बल्कि वे एक निश्चित कथन कह रहे हैं कि उन्होंने यह सब उसके नाम में किया, अर्थात वे यह सब करने में सफल रहे थे। साथ ही, उन्होंने यह सब प्रभु ही के नाम में किया था, न कि किसी अन्य देवी-देवता अथवा किसी व्यक्ति के नाम में, अपने नाम भी नहीं। लेकिन फिर भी उनके लिए प्रभु का उत्तर है “तब मैं उन से खुलकर कह दूंगा कि मैं ने तुम को कभी नहीं जाना, हे कुकर्म करने वालों, मेरे पास से चले जाओ” (मत्ती 7:23)। इतना सब करने के बाद भी प्रभु का उन से यह कहने का कारण मत्ती 7:21 में दिया गया है – ये काम पिता परमेश्वर की इच्छा में और उसके अनुसार नहीं किये गए थे। केवल वे ही जो परमेश्वर पिता की इच्छा के अनुसार चलते हैं, स्वर्ग में जाने पाएँगे; अन्य कोई नहीं, और अपने कामों के आधार पर तो कोई भी प्रवेश नहीं करेगा।

    यहाँ पर एक असमंजस हो सकता है कि प्रभु के नाम में इन लोगों के द्वारा ये कार्य करना कैसे संभव हुआ, और फिर भी उन्हें करने के लिए प्रभु ने उनकी सराहना नहीं की? उत्तर है कि शैतान के पास भी बड़े और सामर्थी काम करने की शक्ति है (2 थिस्सलुनीकियों 2:4, 9-10; प्रकाशितवाक्य 13:13-15)। शैतान ज्योतिर्मय स्वर्गदूत का रूप धारण कर के, और उसके लोग मसीह के झूठे प्रेरितों, छल से काम करने वाले, और धर्म के सेवक बनकर आते हैं (2 कुरिन्थियों 11:13-15)। इन अपनी ही इच्छा और समझ के अनुसार काम करने वाले लोगों की सहायता शैतान और उसके लोग करते हैं कि वे आश्चर्यकर्म प्रतीत होने वाले ये कार्य इस गलतफहमी में रहते हुए करें कि वे परमेश्वर के लिए और परमेश्वर की सामर्थ्य से ये काम कर रहे हैं। इस परिस्थिति से बचने का एकमात्र मार्ग है परमेश्वर के साथ एक निकट का संपर्क और वार्तालाप बनाए रखना, उसकी इच्छा को जानना और पहचानना (रोमियों 12:1-2), और परमेश्वर से जानना कि उसने उन के लिए कौन सा काम निर्धारित किया है (इफिसियों 2:10)। यह तब ही संभव है जब परमेश्वर के वचन का अध्ययन करने को प्राथमिकता दी जाए। जब लोग परमेश्वर के वचन के अध्ययन में समय लगाते हैं, उसके वचन में होकर परमेश्वर के साथ वार्तालाप करते हैं, तब परमेश्वर पिता और प्रभु उनके साथ संगति करते हैं (यूहन्ना 14:21, 23)। प्रभु यीशु के सच्चे शिष्यों की यह प्रवृत्ति होती है कि वे उसके वचन में बने रहते हैं (1 यूहन्ना 2:3-5), और इससे वे सत्य को जान लेते हैं शैतान की युक्तियों से स्वतंत्र रहते हैं (यूहन्ना 8:31-32)। प्रभु के साथ संगति में बने रहने और परमेश्वर के वचन से भली-भाँति अवगत रहने के द्वारा मसीही न केवल शैतान द्वारा उन से वह करवाने से सुरक्षित रहेंगे जो परमेश्वर ने उन से करने के लिए नहीं कहा है, बल्कि यह भी जान लेंगे कि परमेश्वर क्या चाहता है कि वे करें, और क्या न करें। जो भी परमेश्वर की इच्छा में और उसके द्वारा निर्धारित तरीके से किया जाएगा, उस पर हमेशा परमेश्वर की आशीष होगी; शेष सब कुछ तिरस्कार कर के फेंक दिया जाएगा।

    यह एक प्रकार के “मरे हुए काम” हैं जिनसे सभी मसीहियों को मन फिराना है – अपनी ही इच्छा से स्वयं के लिए निर्धारित किये हुए कार्य, न कि परमेश्वर से पूछने, उसकी इच्छा पता पड़ने की प्रतीक्षा करने, और फिर वह करने के जो परमेश्वर करने को कहे। जो भी स्वयं को सही लगे उसे ही अपनी समझ के अनुसार करना, परमेश्वर को उसकी आज्ञाकारिता के द्वारा नहीं बल्कि अपने कार्यों से प्रभावित करने का प्रयास करना, और उसके वचन का अध्ययन करने तथा परमेश्वर की इच्छा जानने में उसके साथ समय न बिताना, असफलताओं और मुसीबतों को दावत देने की अचूक विधि है। अगले लेख में हम एक अन्य प्रकार के मरे हुए काम को देखेंगे जिस से मन फिराना है।

Repentance From Dead Works - 2

 

    In the previous article we began considering the first of the elementary principles given in Hebrews 6:1-2, i.e., repentance from dead works. We learnt that “dead works” are those seemingly religious and good works that a Christian Believer does, often very reverently and piously, but they do not in any manner contribute to his spiritual growth and maturity. Though these kinds of works are done trusting that they will gain the Believer the favor and blessings of God, but they remain vain and infructuous in the Christian Believers life. This is because these works are not God assigned for him, but are those that the Believer has presumptively decided for himself, and does them according to his own wisdom and understanding, instead of in obedience to God; and then imposes them upon God for rewards.

    More often than not, these are satanic ploys to keep the Believer involved in things that keep him away from studying and obeying God’s Word, and knowing God’s will for him. Instead, the Believer is beguiled into learning and obeying the commandments of men, following man-ordained religious rites and rituals, in the garb of God’s commandments. The Bible teaches us that the only thing that pleases God is obedience to Him and His Word (Deuteronomy 5:29; 1 Samuel 15:22; Jeremiah 7:22-23). God is not pleased with things done presumptively in His name, even though they may be religious, pious, and good works, and may even be well appreciated by the people. Such works and practices do not bring any blessings and rewards from God, but may cause great harm to those who do them; and hence the first elementary principle is to repent from all such works. We will see this illustrated through some Biblical examples from today.

    One category of such presumptive, and not just vain and fruitless but eternally harmful and destructive works are the various kinds of self-determined ministries carried out by many people with great fan-fare and enthusiasm in the name of the Lord (Matthew 7:21-23). Notice from the text of this passage, in the Lord Jesus’s own words, from the “Sermon on the Mount” that these ministries carried out by these people, i.e., prophesying, casting out demons, and doing many wonders, all of them did happen. These people are not saying to the Lord that “we tried or attempted to do them in your name;” rather they make a categorical statement that they carried them out in His name, were successful in doing all that they claimed. Moreover, they did them all in the name of the Lord, not in the name of any other deity or person, not even their own names, but in the name of the Lord Jesus. Yet, the Lord’s reply to them is, “I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!” (Matthew 7:23; KJV translates it as ‘ye that work iniquity’ and NIV translates it as ‘you evildoers!’). The reason for the Lord’s saying this to them despite their doing these great things in His name is given in Matthew 7:21 – they were not done in and according to God’s will. Only those who do the will of God the Father shall enter heaven; no one else, and none will enter because of their works of any kind.

    There can be a confusion here, that how did these people manage to do such great works in the Lord name, and yet were not acknowledged by the Lord for doing them? The answer is because Satan too has powers to work great and mighty works (2 Thessalonians 2:4, 9-10; Revelation 13:13-15). Satan can come as an angel of light, and his people as false apostles of Christ, deceitful workers, ministers of righteousness, to beguile God’s people (2 Corinthians 11:13-15). Satan and his people help the presumptuous people in doing these miraculous works, while people think and believe that they are doing the works with the power of God, for God. The only way to avoid this situation is to have a close fellowship and communication with God, to be able to learn His will (Romans 12:1-2), and learn from God, which of the works that He has kept for them (Ephesians 2:10) should they be doing. This can only happen by giving priority to studying God’s Word. When people spend time studying God’s Word, communing with God through His Word, then God the Father and the Lord will fellowship with them (John 14:21, 23). The true disciples of Lord Jesus make it a point to abide in His Word (1 John 2:3-5), and thereby the know the truth and be free (John 8:31-32) from the ploys of the devil. Because of his fellowship with the Lord and being well versed in God’s Word, the Believer will not only remain safe from being misled by Satan into presumptively doing things which God never asked them to do, but will also know what God wants him to do and what not to do. Whatever is done in God’s will, in the manner ordained by God, will always have God’s blessings; all the rest will be rejected and cast away.

    This is one category of “dead works” that all Believers need to repent from – working presumptuously instead of waiting upon God to find out what God has in mind for them, and then do that. Doing whatever seems appropriate to them by their own thinking, trying to impress God by their works instead of by their obedience to Him, and not spending proper time in studying God’s Word to know His will for them is a sure-shot way to disaster and failures. In the next article we will take up another kind of “dead work” to be repented from.

    If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord, make your decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now to ensure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Repenting of your sins, and asking the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily and sincerely, surrendering yourself to Him - is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life.  Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.
