मनुष्य की अज्ञानता - 2  

हम पिछले कुछ लेखों में अपरिवर्तित मनुष्य के पापों को परमेश्वर द्वारा,प्रेरितों 17:30 में, “अज्ञानता के समय का पाप” कहे जाने को समझने का प्रयास कर रहे हैं। प्रेरित पौलुस द्वारा, अथेने के घोर मूर्तिपूजा और परमेश्वर के लिए घृणित, अस्वीकार्य व्यवहार में लिप्त लोगों के लिए, परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा की अगुवाई में किए गए प्रचार में, उन लोगों के लिए परमेश्वर के प्रकोप से बचने और परमेश्वर के साथ संगति में बहाल होने के लिए दिया गया समाधान था, “इसलिये परमेश्वर अज्ञानता के समयों में आनाकानी कर के, अब हर जगह सब मनुष्यों को मन फिराने की आज्ञा देता है” (प्रेरितों 17:30); और इस समाधान में तीन रोचक तथा बहुत महत्वपूर्ण बातें हैं:

1. परमेश्वर पाप के लिए तुरंत दण्ड देने के स्थान पर, उन पापों को अज्ञानता के समय में किए गए कार्य बता कर, उनके दण्ड से बच जाने का अवसर देता है।

2. पापी मनुष्यों द्वारा पापों के लिए पश्चाताप करना, सब जगह के सभी मनुष्यों के लिए, परमेश्वर की इच्छा-मात्र नहीं, आज्ञा है। 

3. परमेश्वर उन लोगों से, उनके पापों के समाधान के लिए, व्यवस्था का पालन करने के लिए नहीं कहता है; बल्कि सभी लोगों से मन फिराने, तथा पश्चाताप करने के द्वारा पापों की क्षमा पाने और विश्वास करने के लिए कहता है।

अब हमारे सामने प्रश्न है कि क्यों प्रेरितों 17:30 में परमेश्वर अपरिवर्तित मनुष्यों के घोर पापों को भी अज्ञानता के समय के कार्य मानकर, उनके विषय उन लोगों को दण्ड देने से आनाकानी करता है, उन्हें दण्ड से बचने का अवसर प्रदान करता है, सभी को अपने-अपने पापों के लिए पश्चाताप करने की आज्ञा देता है? असमंजस में डालने वाले इस प्रश्न का उत्तर परमेश्वर के चरित्र और गुणों में, उसके सच्चा खरा न्यायी होने में छुपा हुआ है। निर्गमन 34:6-7 में परमेश्वर ने स्वयं को मूसा पर इस रीति से प्रकट किया: “और यहोवा उसके साम्हने हो कर यों प्रचार करता हुआ चला, कि ‘यहोवा, यहोवा, ईश्वर दयालु और अनुग्रहकारी, कोप करने में धीरजवन्त, और अति करूणामय और सत्य, हजारों पीढिय़ों तक निरन्तर करूणा करने वाला, अधर्म और अपराध और पाप का क्षमा करने वाला है, परन्तु दोषी को वह किसी प्रकार निर्दोष न ठहराएगा, वह पितरों के अधर्म का दण्ड उनके बेटों वरन पोतों और परपोतों को भी देने वाला है।’” बाद में मूसा ने परमेश्वर के विषय व्यवस्थाविवरण 32:4 में लिखा कि “वह चट्टान है, उसका काम खरा है; और उसकी सारी गति न्याय की है। वह सच्चा ईश्वर है, उस में कुटिलता नहीं, वह धर्मी और सीधा है।” व्यक्ति धर्मी हो या अधर्मी, पापी हो या उद्धार और पाप क्षमा पाया हुआ, परमेश्वर हर किसी के साथ अपनी सच्चाई, खराई, ईमानदारी, और पक्षपात रहित होने के गुणों के अनुसार ही व्यवहार करता है। उसके ये गुण, उसका यह चरित्र बदलता नहीं है, सदा ही सभी के लिए समान बना रहता है, कार्यकारी रहता है।  

परमेश्वर हम मनुष्यों की रचना और क्षमता को भली-भांति जानता है; उसे सदा ध्यान रहता है कि मनुष्य मिट्टी ही है: “क्योंकि वह हमारी सृष्टि जानता है; और उसको स्मरण रहता है कि मनुष्य मिट्टी ही है” (भजन 103:14)। परमेश्वर किसी दुष्ट की भी मृत्यु से प्रसन्न नहीं होता है, वरन चाहता है कि सभी लोग पाप का दंड पाने से बच जाएँ “सो तू ने उन से यह कह, परमेश्वर यहोवा की यह वाणी है, मेरे जीवन की सौगन्ध, मैं दुष्ट के मरने से कुछ भी प्रसन्न नहीं होता, परन्तु इस से कि दुष्ट अपने मार्ग से फिर कर जीवित रहे; हे इस्राएल के घराने, तुम अपने अपने बुरे मार्ग से फिर जाओ; तुम क्यों मरो?” (यहेजकेल 33:11)।

परमेश्वर की यह कदापि इच्छा नहीं है कि मनुष्य किसी बुराई में फंसे, और गिरे; न तो वह स्वयं बुराई के द्वारा परखा जाता है, और न ही वह बुराई के द्वारा किसी की परीक्षा करता है: “जब किसी की परीक्षा हो, तो वह यह न कहे, कि मेरी परीक्षा परमेश्वर की ओर से होती है; क्योंकि न तो बुरी बातों से परमेश्वर की परीक्षा हो सकती है, और न वह किसी की परीक्षा आप करता है” (याकूब 1:13)। 

साथ ही परमेश्वर का आश्वासन भी है कि वह हमें हमारी सामर्थ्य से बाहर किसी परीक्षा में नहीं पड़ने देगा, वरन परीक्षा के साथ निकासी का मार्ग भी देगा: “तुम किसी ऐसी परीक्षा में नहीं पड़े, जो मनुष्य के सहने से बाहर है: और परमेश्वर सच्चा है: वह तुम्हें सामर्थ्य से बाहर परीक्षा में न पड़ने देगा, वरन परीक्षा के साथ निकास भी करेगा; कि तुम सह सको” (1 कुरिन्थियों 10:13)। इसी लिए परमेश्वर हम मनुष्यों को शैतान द्वारा धूर्तता और चतुराई से लाई गई हमारी सामर्थ्य से बाहर परीक्षाओं में गिरा देने और पाप कर बैठने के लिए बहका देने से उत्पन्न स्थिति की आनाकानी करने और सभी मनुष्यों को पाप के दण्ड से बचने का अवसर देने के लिए तैयार है। हम अगले लेख में इसके बारे में थोड़ा और देखेंगे। 

यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। स्वेच्छा से अपने पापों के लिये पश्चाताप करके, प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु, मैं अपने पापों के लिए पश्चातापी हूँ, उनके लिए आप से क्षमा माँगता हूँ। मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मुझे और मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

Man’s Ignorance - 2

Over the last few articles, we've been trying to understand why God has called the sins of the unregenerate man the "sins of the time of ignorance" in Acts 17:30. The Apostle Paul while preaching under the guidance of God's Holy Spirit, to those in Athens, a people given to blatant idolatry and works detested by God, speaks to them about the way to their becoming acceptable to God, being restored to fellowship with God, and escaping His wrath. The God given solution was, "Truly, these times of ignorance God overlooked, but now commands all men everywhere to repent" (Acts 17:30). There are three interesting and very important points in what Paul said here:

1. Instead of immediately punishing them for their sins, God gives an opportunity for them to be saved from their punishment, by treating those sins as done in times of ignorance.

2. That all men everywhere repent for their sins is God’s command, not a mere desire expressed by God.

3. God is not asking the people to obey the Law; but is asking everyone to repent, to seek forgiveness of sins, and to believe in the Lord Jesus, for the redressal of their sins.

Now the question before us is why in Acts 17:30 is God reluctant to punish even those who are unregenerate, the unsaved? Why is He willing to consider the grievous sins of unconverted men to be acts of ignorance, and give them the opportunity to escape punishment, by commanding them to repent of their sins? The answer to this perplexing question lies in the character and attributes of God, in His being the honest and upright Judge. In Exodus 34:6-7, God had revealed Himself to Moses as: “And the Lord passed before him and proclaimed, ‘The Lord, the Lord God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abounding in goodness and truth, keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, by no means clearing the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children and the children's children to the third and the fourth generation.’” Later, in Deuteronomy 32:4 Moses says of God that, “He is the Rock, His work is perfect; For all His ways are justice, A God of truth and without injustice; Righteous and upright is He." Whether a person is righteous or unrighteous, sinner or saved and forgiven, God treats everyone according to His own attributes of truth, integrity, honesty, and being impartial. These qualities of His, His character never ever changes; His character and attributes always remain the same for all.

God knows all too well the creation and capabilities of us humans; He always remembers that man is dust: “For He knows our frame; He remembers that we are dust" (Psalm 103:14). Even the death of a wicked person does not please God; God wants everyone to be saved from the punishment of sin “Say to them: 'As I live,' says the Lord God, 'I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but that the wicked turn from his way and live. Turn, turn from your evil ways! For why should you die, O house of Israel?'” (Ezekiel 33:11).

It is never in the will of God that man should ever be ensnared by evil, and fall into sin. Neither is He ever tempted by evil, nor does He ever tempt anyone with evil: “Let no one say when he is tempted, "I am tempted by God"; for God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does He Himself tempt anyone" (James 1:13).

Also, it is God's assurance that He will not allow us to be tempted beyond our ability, but will also give us a way out of the temptation: “No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it" (1 Corinthians 10:13). That's why God is ready to overlook these times of our ignorance and give us humans the opportunity and the way to be delivered from the consequences of the devious and cunning tricks of Satan, his satanic ploys that are beyond our capabilities to manage, through which he leads us into sin. We will see some more on this in the next article. 

If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord, make your decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now to ensure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Repenting of your sins, and asking the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily and sincerely, surrendering yourself to Him - is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life.  Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.

पिछले लेख में, यह समझने का प्रयास करते हुए कि यह क्यों अनिवार्य है कि प्रत्येक मसीही विश्वासी के बारे में सब कुछ – उसके क्षमा कर के भुला दिए गए पाप भी, प्रकट किए जाएँ और उनका आँकलन हो, जिस से कि सभी को बिल्कुल सही और उचित स्वर्गीय प्रतिफल एवं परिणाम मिलें, हम इस बिन्दु पर आकर रुके थे कि बहुत से विश्वासियों ने परमेश्वर की पापों को क्षमा करके उन्हें भुला देने की प्रतिज्ञा का दुरुपयोग किया है और उसे पाप करते रहने के लिए एक लाइसेंस बना लिया है। अपनी इस गलत धारणा के अन्तर्गत, वे सँसार की बातों के मज़े और पाप के शारीरिक लाभ भी लेते हैं, तथा सोचते हैं कि उनके स्वर्गीय प्रतिफल भी सुरक्षित हैं। किसी समझ में न आने वाले कारण से, वे यह सोचते हैं कि वे परमेश्वर से अधिक चतुर हो गए हैं; और क्योंकि उनके पाप क्षमा करके भुला दिए गए हैं, इसलिए उन्हें अब उनके बारे में चिन्ता करने की कोई आवश्यकता नहीं है, और वे परमेश्वर से अधिक बुद्धिमान हो गए हैं। दूसरी ओर ऐसे सत्यनिष्ठ और प्रतिबद्ध विश्वासी भी हैं जो पाप न करने, पाप के द्वारा सँसार की बातों से बच कर रहने, और पाप से शारीरिक लालसाओं के लाभ न उठाने का यथा-सम्भव प्रयत्न करते हैं, चाहे इस के कारण उन्हें कठिनाइयों से भरा हुआ जीवन ही क्यों न जीना पड़े। क्या ऐसे लोग मूर्ख हैं? क्या उनकी प्रतिबद्धता और लगन को मान और उचित परिणाम नहीं मिलने चाहिएँ? सामान्य विचार हमें बता देता है कि जो परमेश्वर के प्रावधान का दुरुपयोग करते हैं, उन्हें उनके किए हुए के लिए जवाबदेह किया जाना ही चाहिए, अन्यथा “अन्तिम न्याय” के समय विश्वासियों को दिए जाने वाले स्वर्गीय प्रतिफल और परिणाम कभी भी सही, उचित, और न्यायपूर्ण नहीं होंगे। आज हम अंतिम न्याय के इसी पक्ष पर विचार करेंगे।

अब ज़रा गंभीरता से विचार करें, प्रतिफल देने के लिए किए जाने वाले अन्तिम न्याय में, क्या यह उचित और न्यायपूर्ण होगा कि ऐसे विश्वासियों की इस बार-बार पाप करने और क्षमा माँग लेने की प्रवृत्ति का कोई ध्यान न रखा जाए? क्या उन्हें जानते-बूझते हुए पाप करने, उसके लाभ उठाने, और फिर क्षमा माँग कर बहाल हो जाने के प्रावधान का अनुचित लाभ उठाने दिया जाए, उनसे कोई जवाब न लिया जाए? जब इस बात पर विचार करते हैं, और यदि उन विश्वासियों की मान्यता बाइबल के अनुसार सही है, तब तो फिर उनके द्वारा बारम्बार पाप करते रहने और परमेश्वर के प्रावधान का दुरुपयोग करके बहाल होते रहने के कारण, उन्हें प्रतिफल देने के लिए उनके नाम पर केवल भली बातें ही जमा होती रहेंगी और वे अपनी जीवन शैली के कारण पृथ्वी पर पाप का लाभ भी उठाते रहेंगे और स्वर्ग में बहुतायत से आशीषें भी प्राप्त कर लेंगे। ऐसे में फिर इन वचनों का क्या होगा, “हे व्यभिचारणियों, क्या तुम नहीं जानतीं, कि संसार से मित्रता करनी परमेश्वर से बैर करना है सो जो कोई संसार का मित्र होना चाहता है, वह अपने आप को परमेश्वर का बैरी बनाता है” (याकूब 4:4), और “तुम न तो संसार से और न संसार में की वस्तुओं से प्रेम रखो: यदि कोई संसार से प्रेम रखता है, तो उस में पिता का प्रेम नहीं है” (1 यूहन्ना 2:15)? क्या फिर इस प्रकार का व्यवहार जिसे अनेकों विश्वासी नियमित करते रहते हैं, परमेश्वर के वचनों में कोई विरोधाभास नहीं ले आते हैं? क्या ऐसे मसीही जीवनों का हिसाब नहीं लिया जाना चाहिए और उनके द्वारा परमेश्वर के प्रावधान के दुरुपयोग और परमेश्वर का मज़ाक बना देने के लिए जवाब नहीं लिया जाना चाहिए? परमेश्वर मूर्ख नहीं है, और हम देख चुके हैं कि ऐसा मसीही जीवन, 1 कुरिन्थियों 3:13-15 के अनुसार बारीकी से जाँचा भी जाएगा और उपयुक्त प्रतिफल भी पाएगा।

साथ ही, उन विश्वासियों का क्या जो सत्यनिष्ठ होकर पाप और सँसार के साथ समझौता न करने के प्रयासों के साथ जीवन जीते रहे, और इस कारण से पृथ्वी पर बहुत सी समस्याओं का सामना करते रहे? यदि वे लोग जो जानबूझकर पाप करते हैं और फिर क्षमा माँग लेते हैं, ऐसे ही, बिना हिसाब दिए, सस्ते में छूट जाएँगे, तो फिर क्या ये सत्यनिष्ठ विश्वासी अपने आप को ठगा हुआ और मूर्ख नहीं समझेंगे, कि उन्होंने औरों के समान सँसार का मज़ा नहीं लिया? जबकि जिन्होंने सँसार का भी मज़ा लिया वे अब परमेश्वर के प्रावधान के दुरुपयोग करने का कोई हिसाब दिए बिना ही भरपूरी से स्वर्गीय आशीषों को भी ले रहे हैं। क्या इन सत्यनिष्ठ विश्वासियों के लिए इस प्रकार से किया गया कोई भी न्याय सही और उचित हो सकता है? क्या ऐसा न्याय परमेश्वर के चरित्र और गुणों से मेल खा सकता है?

इसलिए, सही और उचित न्याय के लिए प्रत्येक को वही प्रतिफल मिलने चाहिएँ जो उनके लिए वैध और उपयुक्त हैं। यह होने के लिए हर एक व्यक्ति की हर एक बात खोली और प्रकट की जानी आवश्यक है, और हर बात का हिसाब करना अनिवार्य है; उन पापों का भी जिन्हें परमेश्वर के सामने मान लिया गया और परमेश्वर द्वारा क्षमा कर दिया और भुला दिया गया है। अब इस से परमेश्वर द्वारा प्रत्येक विश्वासी की प्रत्येक बात की जाँच करने, हिसाब लेने का कारण समझ में आ जाना चाहिए। लेकिन हमें अभी भी इस सब का बाइबल के उन लेखों के साथ ताल-मेल बैठाना बाकी है, जो यह कहते हैं कि परमेश्वर पाप को क्षमा करके भूल जाता है; और यह भी देखना बाकी है कि इससे क्यों परमेश्वर के वचन में कोई विरोधाभास नहीं है। और न ही परमेश्वर की इस बात में कोई गलती है कि वह पाप क्षमा करके भूल जाता है, लेकिन सभी की सभी बातों का न्याय करके उन्हें उनके उचित और उपयुक्त प्रतिफल ही देगा, न कि वे प्रतिफल जिनकी अपेक्षा लोग अपनी ही मान्यताओं और धारणाओं के आधार पर कर रहे हैं। अगले लेख में हम यहाँ से आगे बढ़ेंगे, और इन बातों को चित्रित करने वाले बाइबल के बहुत प्रमुख पात्र के जीवन को भी देखेंगे।

In the last article, while trying to understand why it is necessary that everything – including the sins forgiven and forgotten by God, about every Believer be laid open and judged so that every one gets fair and just rewards and consequences, we had stopped at the point that it is not uncommon for many Believers to misuse God’s promise of forgiving sins and forgetting them, as a license to sin. Under this misconception of theirs, they enjoy the earthly pleasures and physical benefits of deliberate sin, and think that their heavenly rewards are safe as well. For some inexplicable reason, such Believers think that they have outsmarted God; and since their sins are forgive and forgotten, therefore they need not worry about them anymore – as if God was a fool, and they are wiser than God. On the other hand, there are many very sincere and committed Believers who try not to sin and fall for earthly pleasures and physical benefits through sin, even though this means living a difficult life. Are they fools? Should not their diligence be acknowledged and rewarded? Common sense tells us that those who misuse God’s provision in this manner, should be made accountable for what they have done, else it will never be a fair and just giving of heavenly rewards to the Believers at the final “Eternal Judgment.” We will look into this aspect of Eternal Judgment today.

Now seriously think it over, in the final judgement for rewards, would it be fair not to take into account the tendency of such Believer’s to sin repeatedly, enjoy its pleasures and benefits, then misuse the provision of confessing and asking forgiveness, and be made clean? If one ponders over this scenario, then, if this line of thinking is correct and Biblical, then despite their continuing to sin over and over again, and misusing a provision made by God, such Believers, despite abundantly doing the bad, will only accumulate the good things for their rewards, and end up enjoying both sides – the world and its pleasures, as well as the heavenly rewards. So, how does one account this behavior with verses like James 4:4 “Adulterers and adulteresses! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Whoever therefore wants to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God;” and 1 John 2:15 “Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.” Does this kind of a behavior, as is routinely done by many Believers, not bring in a contradiction in God’s Word? Should such a Christian life not be called to account, and dealt with for the misuse they do and mock God? God is not a fool, and we have seen that such a Christian life, in light of 1 Corinthians 3:13-15, actually will be judged and rewarded accordingly.

What of those Believers who have tried not to sin and compromise with the world, and have suffered problems in their lives because of that on earth? If those who deliberately sin and then ask forgiveness, are not taken to task and made to give an account of their misdeeds, would these sincere and committed Believers not end up thinking that they were fools to have not enjoyed the world like those others, who have enjoyed the world, and now are enjoying the heavenly rewards as well, without any accounting of their misuse of God’s provision. Would such a judgment and giving of rewards indeed be fair and just for the sincere Believers? Would it go with the character of God?

 Therefore, for a fair and just judgement, everyone must get what they actually deserve to get. This requires that everything about everyone gets exposed and taken into account, even the sins that they confessed and were forgiven by God. This should make clear the rationale behind God taking into account everything about every Believer, to give him his rewards.

But we still need to reconcile this logic, with Biblical texts of God forgiving sin and forgetting it, to see how there is no contradiction in God’s Word, and God has made no mistake in assuring that He forgives sin and forgets it, but at the same time will fairly and justly give to everyone what they actually deserve, and not what they have assumed they will get by misusing His provisions. We will carry on from here in the next article, and see about these things from the life of a very prominent character of the Bible.

You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life.  Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.

इब्रानियों 6:1-2 में दी गई आरंभिक बातों में से छठी बात, “अन्तिम न्याय” पर हमारे इस अध्ययन में, हम इस समय एक महत्वपूर्ण बिन्दु पर हैं, जहाँ हम प्रत्येक मसीही विश्वासी के प्रभु यीशु मसीह द्वारा किए जाने वाले न्याय को समझने का प्रयास कर रहे हैं। पिछले लेखों में देख चुके हैं कि परमेश्वर का वचन बाइबल इस बात को बिलकुल स्पष्ट कर देता है कि यह न्याय स्वर्ग अथवा नरक जाने का निर्धारण करने के लिए नहीं होगा, क्योंकि यह निर्णय तो प्रत्येक व्यक्ति स्वयं अपने लिए, यहीं पृथ्वी पर ही कर लेता है। जो यीशु को प्रभु स्वीकार कर के अपना जीवन उसे समर्पित कर देते हैं, और उसके साथ रहने का निर्णय ले लेते हैं, वे अपने निर्णय के अनुसार, पृथ्वी से जाने के बाद प्रभु के साथ, उसके निवास स्थान, अर्थात स्वर्ग में रहेंगे। लेकिन जो प्रभु यीशु का अपना उद्धारकर्ता होने का, उसको समर्पित रहने का तिरस्कार करते हैं, उस से दूर रहने का निर्णय लेते हैं, वे अपने इस निर्णय के अनुसार, पृथ्वी से कूच करने के बाद, वहाँ भेज दिए जाएँगे जहाँ पर प्रभु परमेश्वर नहीं है, अर्थात नरक में।

हमने यह भी देखा है कि बाइबल हमें बताती है कि प्रत्येक नया-जन्म पाए हुए मसीही के जीवन को बारीकी से जाँचा जाएगा और उद्धार पाने के बाद से उसने जैसा मसीही जीवन जिया है, मन में जो बातें रखी हैं, उसके अनुसार उसे प्रतिफल और परिणाम देने के लिए उसका न्याय किया जाएगा। परमेश्वर का वचन हमें सिखाता है कि इस न्याय के लिए विश्वासी के जीवन की प्रत्येक बात, भली हो या बुरी, प्रकट की जाएगी और सभी का न्याय किया जाएगा। उनके लिए जो यह मानते हैं कि क्योंकि परमेश्वर का वचन हमें आश्वस्त करता है कि परमेश्वर पाप क्षमा करके उन्हें अपनी पीठ के पीछे फेंक देता है, और उन्हें भुला देता है, न्याय की इस बात से उन्हें ऐसा प्रतीत होता है कि परमेश्वर के वचन में विरोधाभास लाया जा रहा है, क्योंकि वे कहते हैं कि तो फिर वे पाप फिर से कैसे प्रकट किये जाएंगे, सब बातों का न्याय कैसे हो सकेगा? इसमें ज़रा सा भी, लेश मात्र भी सन्देह नहीं है कि परमेश्वर का वचन निश्चित ही यह प्रतिज्ञाएँ और आश्वासन देता है। लेकिन इन आश्वासनों के कारण परमेश्वर के वचन में कोई विरोधाभास नहीं है, यदि परमेश्वर के इन प्रावधानों को पवित्र शास्त्र के अन्य सम्बन्धित खण्डों और पदों के साथ देखा और समझा जाए तो। हम इसी दुविधा का परमेश्वर के वचन से निवारण करने का प्रयास कर रहे हैं; और इसके लिए हम वापस अदन की वाटिका में गए हैं, यह देखने के लिए कि मानव जाति और सृष्टि में पाप के प्रवेश के साथ और क्या कुछ हुआ है।

पिछले दो लेखों में हमने देखा है कि पहले पाप के साथ मानव जाति के लिए मुख्यतः तीन बातें साथ में आईं – सबसे पहली – मृत्यु, दो प्रकार से – आत्मिक (मनुष्य का परमेश्वर से अलग हो जाना) और शारीरिक (मनुष्य का मनुष्य से अलग हो जाना); और जैसा हम देख चुके हैं, कलवरी के क्रूस पर प्रभु यीशु द्वारा दिए गए बलिदान में विश्वास करने के द्वारा उद्धार प्राप्त करना, मृत्यु की इस दशा को अनन्त जीवन की बहाली के लिए पलट दिया जाना, और मनुष्य का परमेश्वर के, तथा मनुष्य का मनुष्यों के साथ मेल-मिलाप हो जाना है। दूसरी बात, पाप आजीवन दुःख, परिश्रम, और तकलीफें सहने का श्राप भी लेकर आया; यह ऐसा श्राप है जो इस पापमय देह के साथ जुड़ा हुआ है। इसीलिए ये बातें परमेश्वर द्वारा प्रत्येक जन की देखभाल करने से भी नहीं जाती हैं, और न ही उद्धार पाने और पापों की क्षमा प्राप्त होने, तथा परमेश्वर की सन्तान बन जाने से हट जाती हैं। तीसरी बात है, परमेश्वर से मिला आश्वासन कि जो सच में उसके पास लौट आते हैं, उसे अपना जीवन समर्पित कर देते हैं, उनके लिए उनके स्वर्गीय निवास-स्थान में उसने कुछ अत्यन्त अद्भुत तैयार कर के रखा हुआ है; वह इतना विलक्षण है कि मानवीय समझ की क्षमताओं से बिल्कुल परे है; और उनके द्वारा उद्धार पाने के बाद जीए गए मसीही जीवन और मनों में रखी गई बातों के अनुपात में उन्हें दिया जाएगा। दूसरे शब्दों में परमेश्वर अपने प्रत्येक विश्वासी को उसके लिए सर्वथा उचित और उपयुक्त प्रतिफल देगा। जो परमेश्वर के लिए जीते और उसकी तथा उसके वचन की आज्ञाकारिता में कार्य करते हैं, उनके लिए स्वर्गीय प्रतिफलों वाला अनन्तकाल प्रतीक्षा कर रहा है।

लेकिन यहाँ पर एक व्यावहारिक समस्या भी है; क्योंकि यहाँ पर यह मान लिया जाता है कि विश्वासी के द्वारा की गई केवल भली बातों का ही न्याय होगा, और उन्हीं के लिए प्रतिफल मिलेंगे। यह मान्यता इसलिए है क्योंकि जो वास्तव में नया-जन्म पाए हुए मसीही विश्वासी हैं, वे अपने पाप, जो उनसे जाने-अनजाने में प्रतिदिन के जीवन में होते रहते हैं, जब भी उन्हें उन पापों का एहसास होता है, वे उनका अँगीकार करके, उनके लिए परमेश्वर से क्षमा भी माँगते रहते हैं। और यह परमेश्वर का आश्वासन है कि यदि हम अपने पापों को मान लें तो वह उन्हें क्षमा करके हमें बहाल भी कर देता है (1 यूहन्ना 1:9)। इसलिए उन थोड़े से पापों के अतिरिक्त, जो किसी कारण से अँगीकार किए जाने और क्षमा माँगे जाने से रह गए हों, सच्चे विश्वासी के अधिकाँश पाप क्षमा हो चुके हैं; और क्योंकि परमेश्वर क्षमा करके भुला देता है, इसलिए सच्चे विश्वासियों के जीवनों में बहुत ही कम कुछ ऐसा होगा जो बुरा है और जिसका न्याय किया जाना चाहिए। लेकिन इसी मान्यता ने विश्वासियों में यह प्रवृत्ति भी उत्पन्न की है कि वे परमेश्वर के इस प्रावधान का दुरुपयोग करें। इस प्रवृत्ति के अन्तर्गत, बहुत से विश्वासी पाप करते हैं, उसका लाभ उठाते हैं, उसके बाद उसका अँगीकार करके उसके लिए परमेश्वर से क्षमा माँग लेते हैं; और फिर आवश्यकता के अनुसार फिर से पाप कर लेते हैं, और यही चक्र चलता रहता है, क्योंकि पाप क्षमा होने के बाद भुला दिया गया और विश्वासी बहाल कर दिया गया। उन्होंने यह सोच भी कैसे लिया कि परमेश्वर ऐसा मूर्ख है कि पापों को क्षमा करने और भुला देने की प्रतिज्ञा देते समय उसने इस सम्भावना के बारे में सोचा नहीं होगा, इसका कोई प्रावधान नहीं किया होगा? ये लोग ऐसा क्यों समझते हैं कि परमेश्वर को यह एहसास नहीं हुआ होगा कि पापी मनुष्य, शैतान के मार्गदर्शन में, परमेश्वर की क्षमा और उदारता का इस तरह से दुरुपयोग करेगा?

परमेश्वर के न्याय के साथ इन बातों के ताल-मेल को हम अगले लेख में देखेंगे।

यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु, मैं अपने पापों के लिए पश्चातापी हूँ, उनके लिए आप से क्षमा माँगता हूँ। मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मुझे और मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

The Effects, Results and Rewards of Sin - 4

   

In our consideration of “Eternal Judgment,” the sixth elementary principle of Hebrews 6:1-2, we are in a crucial stage of trying to understand the judgment that every Christian Believer will have to go through, with the Lord Jesus as our judge. In the previous articles we have seen that God’s Word the Bible makes it very clear that this judgment will not be to decide going to heaven or hell, for that decision is made by every person on his own, while here on earth. Those who accept Jesus as Lord and savior and decide to be with Him, they, after departure from earth will go to be with Him, where He is, in heaven. Whereas those who reject the Lord Jesus as their savior and decide not to submit to him, decide to stay away from Him here on earth, after their departure from earth, will, as per their own choice, be sent to the place away from the Lord God, i.e. hell.

We have also seen that the Bible tells us that every Born-Again Christian Believer will be thoroughly evaluated and judged, to give him his rewards and consequences of the Christian life he has lived and the things he has kept in his heart since his being saved or being Born-Again. God’s Word teaches us that for this judgement everything about the Believer, whether good or bad, will be laid open and judged. This seems to bring in a contradiction in God’s Word for those who believe that since God’s Word assures us that God forgives sins, throws them behind His back, and forgets them, so how can these forgiven sins be brought up again? There is no absolutely no doubt that God’s Word does make those promises and gives these assurances; but these assurances do not bring in any contradiction if God’s provisions are seen and interpreted properly in light of other related Scriptural passages. It is this very dilemma that we are trying to understand from God’s Word; and to do this we have gone back to the Garden of Eden to see what all happened with the entry of sin into mankind and the creation.

In the previous two articles we have seen that essentially, the first sin brought in three things for mankind – firstly death – both spiritual (man’s separation from God) and physical (man’s separation from man); and as we have seen, salvation, through faith in the sacrifice of the Lord Jesus on the cross of Calvary, is the reversal of this state of death to eternal life, and for restoration of fellowship between man and God, and also man and man. Secondly sin brought the curse of lifelong toil, pain, and misery; and this curse is tied to this sinful body for a person’s lifetime. Therefore, these are not eliminated despite the care given by God to every person, nor even with salvation, forgiveness of sins, and becoming children of God. Thirdly, God have the assurance that those who return back to Him and submit to Him, for them in their eternal heavenly abode, He has kept ready something so marvelous, that it is beyond human capacity and capabilities of understanding; and will be given in proportion to the Christian lives His people have lived and the things they have kept in heart while here on earth after, since after their salvation. In other words, God will give every Believer his fair and just rewards, and an eternity of heavenly rewards awaits those who live and work for God, in obedience to Him and His Word.

But there is a practical problem here; because the inherent assumption is that it is only everything good that the Believers have done that will be evaluated for these rewards. This assumption is because the truly Born-Again Christian Believers, since they very often keep confessing the sins they may commit in their day-to-day lives, and ask for God’s forgiveness for them, as and when they realize them; and it is God’s assurance that if we confess our sins He forgives and restores us (1 John 1:9), therefore except for a few sins that may inadvertently have gone unconfessed, most of the sins would already be confessed and forgiven. Hence, since what God has forgiven, He has also forgotten, so there is hardly anything bad that remains to be judged in a Believer’s life. This belief has given rise to the tendency of misusing God’s forgiving and forgetting as a license to sin by many Believers. As per their need, they sin, enjoy the benefits of their sin, then confess and ask its forgiveness from God, and then repeat it again, as and when required; and this cycle keeps getting repeated, since after being forgiven, sin is forgotten and the Believer is restored back. Why do they even think that God was foolish had not thought about this possibility, and had made no arrangements for it, when He gave this promise of forgiving and forgetting sin? Why do they assume that God did not realize sinful mankind under the guidance of Satan, would so misuse His provision and benevolence?

We will consider how these things count with God’s justice in the next article.

पिछले लेख में हमने परमेश्वर के वचन बाइबल में से अन्य खण्डों को देखा है जो इस की पुष्टि करते हैं कि न्याय मसीही विश्वासियों का ही होगा, प्रभु यीशु के द्वारा किया जाएगा, खुले में और निष्पक्ष होगा, बिना किसी भी पूर्वाग्रह के किया जाएगा। हमने यह भी देखा है कि प्रत्येक व्यक्ति के बारे में सब कुछ – चाहे भला है या बुरा, चाहे उनके जीवनों में है या उनके मनों में, उसे खुला और प्रकट कर दिया जाएगा, और तब सब के सामने प्रत्येक को उचित न्याय और उपयुक्त प्रतिफल तथा परिणाम दिए जाएँगे, इसलिए किसी को भी उन्हें या किसी अन्य को जो प्राप्त हुआ है उसके बारे में कोई सन्देह नहीं होगा। यह बात 1 कुरिन्थियों 3:13-15 की इस बात की भी पुष्टि करती है कि प्रत्येक के काम बारीकी से और बड़े ध्यान से जाँचे जाएँगे, कुछ भी बिना जाँचे नहीं बचेगा, ताकि फिर “...हर एक व्यक्ति अपने अपने भले बुरे कामों का बदला जो उसने देह के द्वारा किए हों पाए” (2 कुरिन्थियों 5:10), अर्थात, प्रभु प्रत्येक व्यक्ति के भले और बुरे दोनों का हिसाब लेगा, और उस आँकलन के अनुसार फिर उनके लिए जो कुछ भी उपयुक्त एवं उचित है, वे प्रतिफल और परिणाम उन्हें प्रदान करेगा।

कोई भी, किसी भी प्रकार के पाखण्ड का जीवन जी कर, उसके लिए उत्तरदायी होने से किसी भी तरह से बच नहीं सकता है; हर एक बात उजागर कर दी जाएगी, खोली जाएगी और उसका न्याय किया जाएगा। दाऊद ने सुलैमान को सचेत किया था कि परमेश्वर हृदयों को जाँचता है और विचार में भी उत्पन्न होने वाली बातों को समझता है “और हे मेरे पुत्र सुलैमान! तू अपने पिता के परमेश्वर का ज्ञान रख, और खरे मन और प्रसन्न जीव से उसकी सेवा करता रह; क्योंकि यहोवा मन को जांचता और विचार में जो कुछ उत्पन्न होता है उसे समझता है। यदि तू उसकी खोज में रहे, तो वह तुझ को मिलेगा; परन्तु यदि तू उसको त्याग दे तो वह सदा के लिये तुझ को छोड़ देगा” (1 इतिहास 28:9)। प्रभु यीशु ने यही बात यूहन्ना 2:24-25 में कही है “परन्तु यीशु ने अपने आप को उन के भरोसे पर नहीं छोड़ा, क्योंकि वह सब को जानता था। और उसे प्रयोजन न था, कि मनुष्य के विषय में कोई गवाही दे, क्योंकि वह आप ही जानता था, कि मनुष्य के मन में क्या है।”

लेकिन यह प्रश्न उठाया जा सकता है कि मन की बातों को खुला और उजागर करने, तथा उन्हें भी उसी प्रकार जाँचने, जैसे कि वे की गई बातें हों, का क्या कारण है? वे बातें तो केवल विचारों में ही हैं, कार्यान्वित तो हुई नहीं हैं, तो फिर उन्हें किया हुआ क्यों समझना? इन प्रश्नों का उत्तर मत्ती 5:27-28, मरकुस 7:20-23, और याकूब 1:13-15 जैसे खण्डों से मिल जाता है। ये हवाले दिखाते हैं कि पाप मन में विचार के समान आरम्भ होता है, हृदय में ही पनपता और बढ़ता है, और अवसर पाकर व्यक्ति के द्वारा वह पाप कर दिया जाता है। इसीलिए परमेश्वर की दृष्टि में वे पाप जिन्हें हम अपने हृदयों में स्थान देते हैं और मनों में जिन के बारे में सोचते रहते हैं, उन्हीं पापों के समान हैं जो किए गए हैं – क्योंकि देर-सवेर वे कर दिए जाएँगे – शैतान यह निश्चित करेगा कि वे कर दिए जाएँ। इससे यह प्रकट हो जाता है कि क्यों हृदय या मनों की बातों को उजागर करके उनका भी न्याय किया जाएगा। समाधान केवल एक ही है कि किसी भी पापमय विचार को हृदय या मन में कदापि कोई स्थान न पाने दें, वरन अपने हृदय या मन को परमेश्वर के वचन से भर लें (भजन 119; कुलुस्सियों 3:16)।

एक बाइबल के विपरीत, किन्तु अधिकाँश ईसाइयों या मसीहियों में, यहाँ तक कि मसीही विश्वासियों में भी प्रचलित गलत धारणा है कि यदि उचित जीवन जीने के द्वारा उसे बनाकर न रखा जाए, तो व्यक्ति का उद्धार खो सकता है। इस तर्क का आधार यह धारणा है कि यदि उद्धार हमेशा के लिए है, कभी जा नहीं सकता है, तब तो फिर उद्धार पाने के बाद कोई भी जितना चाहे, उतने पाप कर सकता है, बिना किसी बात से डरे अपने मन के अनुसार चल सकता है, क्योंकि उसने तो हर हाल में स्वर्ग जाना ही है। यह हमारी चर्चा का विषय नहीं है, और इसे हम कुछ अन्य विषयों के साथ पहले के कुछ लेखों में देख चुके हैं, इसलिए हम इसकी चर्चा में नहीं जाएँगे। लेकिन जो परमेश्वर और उसके न्याय से सम्बन्धित इस गलत धारणा को मानते हैं, उन्हें उपरोक्त से तथा पिछले लेखों से यह ज्ञात हो गया होगा कि किसी के भी द्वारा की गई अथवा विचारी गई किसी भी बात की जवाबदेही से, कोई भी कभी भी बचेगा नहीं। उन्हें एक बार फिर से 1 कुरिन्थियों 3:13-15 पर और पिछले लेखों में लिखी गई बातों पर विचार करना चाहिए। हर एक को, हर बात के लिए – वह चाहे भली हो या बुरी, एक विस्तृत और बारीकी से माँगा गया हिसाब देना ही होगा, और उस आँकलन के अनुसार मिलने वाले प्रतिफल और परिणाम लेने ही होंगे। साथ ही जैसे इब्रानियों 12:5-11 में लिखा है, यहाँ इस पृथ्वी पर भी, प्रभु अपने बच्चों की ताड़ना भी करता है, और उनकी जो अयोग्य और अनुचित जीवन जीते ही रहते हैं, बहुत कठोरता से भी करता है। इसलिए उद्धार अनन्तकालीन और स्थाई तो है, लेकिन यह किसी के लिए भी पाप करते रहने की अनुमति नहीं है; कोई भी परमेश्वर को न तो हल्के में ले सकता है, न उसकी अनाज्ञाकारिता में बना रह सकता है, न उसे ठट्ठों में उड़ा सकता है; जो ऐसा करेगा, वह अपने किए के दुष्परिणाम भी भोगेगा।

अगले लेख से हम देखना आरंभ करेंगे कि किस प्रकार से परमेश्वर की पापों के लिए क्षमा और उन्हें भुला देना, और उसके द्वारा व्यक्ति के द्वारा किए गए कामों – भले या बुरे, का हिसाब लेना, बिना किसी विरोधाभास के परस्पर मेल खाते हैं।

यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु, मैं अपने पापों के लिए पश्चातापी हूँ, उनके लिए आप से क्षमा माँगता हूँ। मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मुझे और मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

Judgment of Believers – 8

   

In the last article we have seen other passages from God’s Word the Bible that confirm that the judgment will be of the Christian Believers, will be done by the Lord Jesus, openly and impartially, without any bias of any sort. We have also seen that everything, about every person – whether it is good or bad, whether in their lives or in their heart, will first be made public and open, and then in the presence of everyone a fair assessment and giving of appropriate rewards and consequences will be done, so no one will have any doubts about what they or anyone else has received. This also lends support to what we considered in the previous article from 1 Corinthians 3:13-15, that everyone’s works will be thoroughly and minutely examined, nothing will escape, so  “…that each one may receive the things done in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad” (2 Corinthians 5:10), i.e., the Lord will take into account both the good as well as the bad of every person, and accordingly, impartially give to each one whatever rewards and consequences they are worthy of.

No one can live a hypocritical life of any manner, and get away with it; everything will be uncovered, brought out and judged. David had warned Solomon that God searches and knows even the intents of the thoughts in one’s heart “As for you, my son Solomon, know the God of your father, and serve Him with a loyal heart and with a willing mind; for the Lord searches all hearts and understands all the intent of the thoughts. If you seek Him, He will be found by you; but if you forsake Him, He will cast you off forever” (1 Chronicles 28:9). The Lord Jesus affirmed it in John 2:24-25 “But Jesus did not commit Himself to them, because He knew all men, and had no need that anyone should testify of man, for He knew what was in man.”

But it may be asked, why lay open and evaluate even the things in one’s heart, things that have not been done or acted upon, but just thought about? Why should they be tried as if they were done by the person? Why this opening up will be done can be understood in light of passages like Matthew 5:27-28, Mark 7:20-23, and James 1:13-15. These references show that all sin begins as thoughts in a person’s heart, sins grow there in the heart, and at an opportune moment, those sins get committed by the person. Therefore, God regards any sinful thoughts given place and pondered over in our hearts, as equivalent to sins that we have already committed – since sooner or later they will be committed – Satan will ensure that they are done. Thereby it becomes apparent why even the things in one’s heart will be revealed and judged. The only remedy is to not let anything sinful stay in our hearts at all, rather fill our hearts with God’s Word (Psalm 119:11; Colossians 3:16).

There is an unBiblical but popular misconception prevalent amongst most Christians and even the Christian Believers, that salvation can be lost, unless it is maintained by a proper Christian lifestyle. The basis of this argument is that if salvation is permanent and eternal, then after being saved, anyone can sin to their hearts content, and not fear anything, since they will go to heaven in any case. This is not the topic for our discussion, and it has also been discussed in some earlier articles in other topics, so we will not be going into its details now. But to those who hold this wrong concept about God and His judgment, from the above and what we have seen in the preceding articles, it should be evident to them that no one will get away from any thing done or even thought of by anyone; ponder again over what has been said about 1 Corinthians 3:13-15. Everyone will have to give a detailed and minute account, and receive the rewards and consequences of all that they have thought and done – good as well as bad. Moreover, as is written in Hebrews 12:5-11, even here on earth, the Lord chastens, at times severely, those of His children who live in an unworthy manner. So, salvation is eternal and permanent, but it is not a license to sin for anyone; no one can mock or disobey God, or take Him lightly, and get away with it.

How the forgiveness and forgetting of our sins by God, and His judgment of both good and bad of every person meet without any contradiction, we will begin to consider this from the next article.

If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord, make your decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now to ensure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Repenting of your sins, and asking the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily and sincerely, surrendering yourself to Him - is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life.  Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.
