इस श्रृंखला, व्यवस्था और उद्धार, विषय का, परमेश्वर के वचन बाइबल के आधार पर अध्ययन को हमने तीन प्रश्नों के अनुसार करना आरम्भ किया था। ये तीन प्रश्न हैं:  पहला, यदि उद्धार व्यवस्था के पालन से नहीं है, तो फिर पुराने और नए नियम में व्यवस्था द्वारा जीवन मिलने की बात क्यों कही गई? दूसरा, व्यवस्था के दिए जाने का उद्देश्य क्या था? और तीसरा प्रश्न है कि आज हम मसीही विश्वासियों, प्रभु के लोगों के लिए, क्या व्यवस्था की कोई उपयोगिता अथवा भूमिका है? पिछले लेखों में हम व्यवस्था और व्यवहारिक जीवन से संबंधित इन तीन में से दो प्रश्नों - व्यवस्था द्वारा जीवन दिए जाने, और व्यवस्था के दिए जाने के उद्देश्य को देख चुके हैं। आज हम तीसरे प्रश्न, एक मसीही विश्वासी के जीवन में व्यवस्था की उपयोगिता और भूमिका के बारे में देखेंगे।

वास्तव में व्यवस्था क्या है और उसके पालन से क्या अभिप्राय है, इसे हमने मत्ती 22:35-40 में प्रभु यीशु द्वारा एक व्यवस्थापक से हुई बातचीत से समझा था। हमने देखा था कि व्यवस्था कोई रीति-रिवाज़ों, पर्वों, भेंट-बलिदानों आदि का निर्वाह नहीं है। व्यवस्था परमेश्वर और मनुष्यों के साथ सही सम्बन्ध में आने और बने रहने के लिए परमेश्वर के निर्देश हैं। और इन सम्बन्धों के निर्वाह के लिये परमेश्वर के इन निर्देशों का पालन करना ही व्यवस्था का पालन करना है। जब परमेश्वर के साथ मनुष्य का सम्बन्ध सही हो जाता है, तो यह स्वतः ही उसके बदले हुए जीवन और अन्य मनुष्यों के साथ सही सम्बन्ध में रहने के द्वारा दिखने और प्रमाणित होने लगता है।

 

प्रभु और व्यवस्थापक के मध्य हुई इसी बातचीत को हम आज के इस तीसरे प्रश्न के संदर्भ में लूका 10:25-28 से लेंगे, विशेषकर लूका 10:28 से, जहाँ प्रभु यीशु ने इस चर्चा के निष्कर्ष में उस व्यवस्थापक से कहा, “उसने [प्रभु यीशु ने] उस से कहा, तू ने ठीक उत्तर दिया है, यही कर: तो तू जीवित रहेगा” (लूका 10:28)। यह ध्यान देने योग्य बात है कि प्रभु यीशु ने उससे यह नहीं कहा कि “अब से तुझे यह सब करने की आवश्यकता नहीं पड़ेगी। बस मुझ पर विश्वास कर लेना, और यह सब तेरे लिए स्वतः ही पूरा हो जाएगा।” वरन प्रभु ने जोर देकर, बात के निष्कर्ष में उससे कहा, “यही कर: तो तू जीवित रहेगा”, यानि कि, व्यवस्था की सही समझ और परिभाषा के पालन को अनिवार्य किया, और इसके बाद कभी भी अपनी कही इस बात को बदला नहीं। साथ ही एक बार फिर यह ध्यान में रखने की बात है कि प्रभु द्वारा उससे यही करने को कहना, उसके द्वारा कोई रीति-रिवाज़ों, पर्वों, भेंट-बलिदानों आदि का निर्वाह करने को कहना नहीं था। वरन, परमेश्वर और मनुष्यों के साथ सही सम्बन्ध में आना, और बने रहने को पूरा करने की बात थी, जैसा कि इसके आगे के नेक सामरी के दृष्टांत (लूका 10:29-37) से भी प्रकट है।

 

    वर्तमान के, परमेश्वर के अनुग्रह के समय में, विश्वास द्वारा प्रभु से उद्धार को दान के रूप में प्राप्त करने के समय में, लोगों में इस तात्पर्य को लेकर एक असमंजस आ सकता है कि व्यवस्था का पालन करना तो फिर से कर्मों से धर्मी बनने की बात हो रही है, न कि विश्वास से धर्मी ठहरने की। किन्तु ऐसा नहीं है। इसमें कोई संदेह नहीं है कि प्रभु यीशु ने व्यवस्था को पूरा कर के हमारे सामने से उसे हटा दिया है; अब मसीही विश्वासियों को उसके पालन करने की कोई आवश्यकता नहीं रही है, अब मसीह यीशु ही हमारा उद्धार और जीवन है (कुलुस्सियों 2:13-17)। किन्तु साथ ही यहाँ पद 14 और पद 16 पर ध्यान कीजिए, “और विधियों का वह लेख जो हमारे नाम पर और हमारे विरोध में था मिटा डाला; और उसको क्रूस पर कीलों से जड़ कर सामने से हटा दिया है” (कुलुस्सियों 2:14); “इसलिये खाने पीने या पर्व या नए चान्‍द, या सब्‍तों के विषय में तुम्हारा कोई फैसला न करे” (कुलुस्सियों 2:16)। यहाँ प्रयोग किए गए शब्दों पर ध्यान कीजिए और विचार कीजिए; पद 14 के अनुसार, जो हमारे विरोध में था वह “विधियों का लेख” था, जिसे पद 16 में “खाने पीने या पर्व या नए चान्‍द, या सब्‍तों” आदि की बातें कहा गया है, “उसको क्रूस पर कीलों से जड़ कर सामने से हटा दिया है”। पिछले लेख में हमने देखा था कि ये सभी बातें प्रभु यीशु मसीह के चरित्र, जीवन, और समस्त मानव-जाति के उद्धार के लिए किए गए उनके कार्य के विभिन्न पहलुओं के प्ररूप और प्रतीक हैं। प्रभु यीशु ने इन सभी को अपनी देह में हमारे लिए पूरा कर के, अपने बलिदान और पुनरुत्थान के द्वारा इनके निर्वाह को हमारे सामने से हटा दिया है। प्रभु ने “व्यवस्था” को, अर्थात परमेश्वर के और मनुष्यों के साथ सही सम्बन्ध में आने और बने रहने को नहीं हटाया है, जो कि प्रभु यीशु में विश्वास लाने के द्वारा सम्भव होता है। दूसरे शब्दों में, व्यवस्था अभी भी लागू है, बदली नहीं है; उसके निर्वाह की विधि अब प्रभु यीशु में विश्वास और उसकी आज्ञाकारिता हो गई है।

 

इस बात को हम अगले लेख में भी देखेंगे। यदि आप अपने आप को किसी भी प्रकार की “व्यवस्था” - वह चाहे परमेश्वर की हो, या आपके धर्म, मत, समुदाय, या डिनॉमिनेशन की हो - के पालन के द्वारा धर्मी बनाने के, और अपने शरीर के कार्यों के द्वारा अपने आप को परमेश्वर को स्वीकार्य बनाने के प्रयासों में लगे हैं; तो ध्यान देकर समझ लीजिए कि परमेश्वर का वचन स्पष्ट बताता है कि व्यवस्था के पालन के द्वारा नहीं, वरन, परमेश्वर के दिए हुए पश्चाताप और समर्पण करने के मार्ग का पालन करने के द्वारा ही आप परमेश्वर की दृष्टि में धर्मी और उसे स्वीकार्य बन सकते हैं। अभी समय और अवसर रहते सही मार्ग अपना लें, और व्यर्थ तथा निष्फल मार्ग को छोड़ दें।

यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। स्वेच्छा से प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु, मैं अपने पापों के लिए पश्चातापी हूँ, उनके लिए आप से क्षमा माँगता हूँ। मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मुझे और मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

The Law & Living the Christian Faith – 1

 

At the beginning of this series on the Law and Salvation, we started out with three questions on which we would Biblically study this topic. These three questions are:  First, if salvation is not from the observance of the Law, then why do the Old and New Testaments speak of having life through the law? Second, why was the Law given? And the Third question is, does the Law have any utility or role, for us Christians, the people of the Lord, today? In the previous articles, we have seen the first two out of the three questions; the questions regarding the giving of life by the Law, and regarding the purpose behind giving of the Law. Today we'll look at the third question, the utility and role of the Law in the life of a Christian Believer.

 

We had understood from the Lord Jesus' conversation with a Scribe in Matthew 22:35-40 what the term “the Law” actually stands for, and what it means to follow the Law. We had seen that the Law is not the fulfilling of any rituals, feasts, offerings, sacrifices, etc. Rather, the Law are God's instructions to come into and live in the right relationship with God and with fellow humans; i.e., the living by and obeying God’s instructions for fulfilling these relationships is the observance of the Law. When man comes into a correct relationship with God, he automatically begins to demonstrate and affirm it by his changed life, and by living in the right relationship with other human beings too.

 

We'll take this same conversation between the Lord and the Scribe in the context of considering our third question today, but from Luke 10:25-28, especially Luke 10:28, where the Lord Jesus concluded this discussion by saying to the Scribe, "And He [The Lord Jesus] said to him, ‘You have answered rightly; do this and you will live’" (Luke 10:28). It is of great importance and certainly worth noting that the Lord Jesus did not say to him that "from now on you will no longer need to do all this. Just believe in me, and it will all be done automatically for you." But, at the conclusion of the talk, the Lord insisted and said to him, "Do this: then you will live", i.e., thereby, He made fulfilling the correct understanding and interpretation of the Law mandatory, and never changed His words after that. Once again, it is to be noted that the Lord’s asking him to do “this” was not asking him to fulfill the performing of any rituals, feasts, offerings, sacrifices etc. Rather, He was asking him to come into, and stay in the right relationship with, God and humans; as is evidenced by the parable of the Good Samaritan in following verses (Luke 10:29-37).

In the present times, i.e., the time of God's grace, the time of receiving salvation from the Lord as a gift, by faith, people may be confused about understanding the application of this teaching, of keeping the Law; misinterpreting it as again going towards becoming righteous by works. But it is not so. There is no doubt, and no going back on the fact that the Lord Jesus has fulfilled the law and removed it from us; Christian Believers in the Lord Jesus are no longer required to observe these requirements of the Law, Christ Jesus and He alone is our salvation and life (Colossians 2:13-17). But also note here verse 14 and verse 16, “having wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us, which was contrary to us. And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross” (Colossians 2:14); "So let no one judge you in food or in drink, or regarding a festival or a new moon or sabbaths" (Colossians 2:16). Pay attention and consider the words used here; According to verse 14, what was against us was the “handwriting of requirements” which in verse 16 is referred to as “food or in drink, or regarding a festival or a new moon or sabbaths” etc. It is these that the Lord Jesus “has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross.” In the previous article we saw that all of these things are types and symbols of different aspects of the character, life, and work of the Lord Jesus Christ done for the salvation of all mankind. The Lord Jesus, having lived by and fulfilled all of these works for us in His body, has removed their requirement for us through His sacrifice and resurrection. The Lord has not removed the "Law," i.e., our coming into and living in a proper relationship with God and fellow human beings, which happens by coming into faith in the Lord Jesus. In other words, the Law is still in place and applicable, has not changed; what has changed is that it is now fulfilled through coming into faith in the Lord Jesus and being obedient to Him.

In the next article we will look at some other things about this. If you consider yourself righteous and acceptable to God by observance of any kind of “law”—whether of God, or of your religion, creed, community, or denomination—and by the actions of your flesh; then, pay heed and understand that God's Word clearly states that you can become righteous and acceptable to God, not by keeping the requirements of the Law, but by following God's path of repentance and submission. Now, while you have the time and opportunity, take the right step, and leave the useless and fruitless path that you may have been walking upon till now.

If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord, make your decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now to ensure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Repenting of your sins, and asking the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily and sincerely, surrendering yourself to Him - is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life.  Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.

इससे पिछले लेखों में हमने किसी व्यक्ति के परमेश्वर को स्वीकार्य होने और उद्धार प्राप्त करने के सन्दर्भ में, परमेश्वर की दृष्टि में भला होने के बारे में देखा था। हमने देखा था कि यद्यपि पृथ्वी के जीवन के लिये मनुष्यों ने भला होने के अपने मानक और गुण निर्धारित कर रखे हैं, किन्तु किसी भी मनुष्य को परमेश्वर की दृष्टि में भला होने, उसे स्वीकार्य होने, और स्वर्ग में उसके साथ निवास करने के लिये, पृथ्वी पर मनुष्यों द्वारा निर्धारित किये गये मानकों का नहीं, बल्कि उसके लिये परमेश्वर द्वारा दिये और स्थापित किये गये मानकों का निर्वाह करना होगा। और मसीही विश्वास के अन्तर्गत ये मानक परमेश्वर ने अपने वचन बाइबल में हमें प्रदान किये हैं; परमेश्वर से मेल-मिलाप, उद्धार, और परमेश्वर के साथ स्वर्गीय जीवन किसी प्रकार के कर्मों या भले होने से नहीं, वरन पापों से पश्चाताप करके प्रभु यीशु को अपना उद्धारकर्ता ग्रहण करने से है। इस सन्दर्भ में फिर हमने पुराने नियम में मूसा में होकर परमेश्वर द्वारा दी गयी व्यवस्था तथा नए नियम में प्रभु यीशु में लाए गये विश्वास के द्वारा उद्धार के बारे में देखना आरम्भ किया था। हमने देखा था कि लोगों में प्रचलित सामान्य मान्यता एवं धारणा के विपरीत, पुराने नियम में दिए गए भेंट, बलिदानों, पर्वों, विधियों, नियमों आदि का निर्वाह व्यवस्था का निर्वाह करना नहीं है; वरन ये सभी प्रभु यीशु मसीह के जीवन, कार्य और बलिदान के पुराने नियम में दिए गए विभिन्न प्रतीक एवं प्ररूप हैं; और इनका निर्वाह करने से किसी का उद्धार नहीं होता है (इब्रानियों 10:1-4)। फिर हमने प्रभु यीशु मसीह द्वारा परमेश्वर की व्यवस्था वास्तव में क्या है, को समझाने के लिए कही गयी बात को मत्ती 22:35-40 से देखा था, जिसे फिर रोमियों 13:9 में दोहराया गया है।

यहाँ हम इस बहुत महत्वपूर्ण तथ्य को देखते हैं कि प्रभु यीशु, अर्थात, उस जीवते वचन के द्वारा जो देहधारी हुआ और जिसने हमारे बीच में निवास किया (यूहन्ना 1:1, 14), स्वयं हमारे लिए परिभाषित किया है कि परमेश्वर की व्यवस्था कोई रीति-रिवाज़, धर्म, पर्वों और परंपराओं, और अनुष्ठानों आदि का पालन करना नहीं है। वरन, परमेश्वर की व्यवस्था वह है जो खरे प्रेम में होकर परमेश्वर के प्रति हमारे संपूर्ण समर्पण, आज्ञाकारिता, और परमेश्वर के साथ हमारे संबंध, समर्पण, और व्यवहार को, तथा सभी मनुष्यों के प्रति भी हमारे द्वारा खरा प्रेम रखने को स्थापित करती है।

मनुष्य के परमेश्वर के साथ तथा अन्य मनुष्यों के साथ व्यवहार और निर्वाह करने वाले परमेश्वर के इन नियमों तथा इनसे संबंधित उसकी बातों का एक थोड़ा सा विस्तृत रूप, निर्गमन 20:1-17 में दी गई दस आज्ञाएँ हैं। बहुत ही संक्षेप में, इन दस आज्ञाओं में से पहली चार (20:1-11) परमेश्वर के साथ मनुष्य के संबंध और व्यवहार के बारे में हैं; और शेष छः (20:12-17) मनुष्यों के मनुष्य के साथ संबंध और व्यवहार के बारे में हैं। यहाँ दी गई ये दस आज्ञाएँ, एक तरह से किसी पुस्तक के अध्यायों के शीर्षकों के समान हैं; शीर्षक केवल अध्याय में क्या है उसका संकेत करता है; और वर्णन उस अध्याय के लेख में मिलता है। इसी प्रकार से ये आज्ञाएँ दस भिन्न अध्यायों को दिखाती हैं, और उन अध्यायों के शीर्षकों से संबंधित शेष वर्णन परमेश्वर के वचन के अन्य स्थानों पर इन दोनों संबंधों और व्यवहार की बातों में होकर प्रदान किया गया है।

इसीलिए जब भी इस्राएली उस वास्तविक व्यवस्था के पालन से भटक कर केवल रीति-रिवाजों, पर्वों, त्यौहारों, विधियों को मानने तथा औरों को मनवाने तक सीमित हो गए, तब साथ ही वे नैतिक और धार्मिक पतन में चले गए, परमेश्वर के प्रकोप के भागी हो गए (यशायाह 1:11-20; मलाकी 1:10), और बिलकुल यही मानसिकता तथा परमेश्वर के साथ संबंधों की दशा वर्तमान के ईसाई या मसीही समाज के साथ भी है। प्रभु यीशु मसीह के पृथ्वी की सेवकाई के दिनों में भी परमेश्वर का मंदिर था। वहाँ सारे पर्व और विधियाँ माने और मनाए जाते थे, वचन के अनुसार भेंट और बलिदान चढ़ाए जाते थे, वचन पढ़ा, सुना और सिखाया जाता था; किन्तु सब ऊपरी था। लोगों के, यहाँ तक कि उनके धर्म-गुरुओं के भी मन परमेश्वर से दूर थे (मत्ती 15:8); और प्रभु ने अपने मंदिर को डाकुओं की खोह कहा (मत्ती 21:13)! 

धर्म के अगुवों ने ही मंदिर, आराधना, और व्यवस्था के पालन की वास्तविकता को भ्रष्ट कर दिया था, उसे एक औपचारिकता, परंपरा का निर्वाह मात्र बना दिया था। वे परमेश्वर के वचन और नियमों के स्थान पर अपने ही बनाए हुए नियमों को परमेश्वर के नियम और विधियाँ कह कर सिखाया करते थे (मत्ती 15:3-9; यशायाह 29:3; साथ ही यशायाह 1:1-17 भी देखें)। और परमेश्वर के उसी मंदिर के अंदर, धर्म के अगुवों ने प्रभु परमेश्वर यीशु मसीह को पकड़वाने और मार डालने का षड्यंत्र रचा, और कार्यान्वित करवाया। क्या आज यही दशा ईसाई या मसीही समाज की भी नहीं है; जहाँ हर डिनॉमिनेशन, मत, और समुदाय के, परमेश्वर के वचन से अतिरिक्त, अपने ही बनाए हुए नियम और विधियाँ हैं। ये सभी डिनॉमिनेशन, मत, और समुदाय परमेश्वर के वचन के पालन से अधिक महत्व अपनी ही बनाए हुए नियमों और विधियों, अपनी ही बातों के पालन को महत्व देते हैं, और केवल अपनी ही बातों को सही, तथा अन्य को गलत बताते और सिखाते हैं। तथा सभी के आराधना स्थलों पर, धार्मिक अगुवों के द्वारा ही औरों की आलोचना, औरों से पृथक होकर रहने, और यहाँ तक कि उनके विरोध की योजनाएं बनाई जाती हैं, कार्यान्वित करवाई जाती हैं। जबकि साथ ही वे परमेश्वर के सभी के लिए प्रेम और मसीह यीशु में होकर सभी के साथ भाई-चारे के सन्देश प्रचार करते हैं, जिनका पालन वे स्वयं भी नहीं करते हैं।

अगले लेख में हम देखेंगे कि व्यवस्था क्यों हमें उद्धार नहीं दे सकती है, उसकी क्या सीमाएं हैं; और फिर यह भी देखेंगे कि फिर भी व्यवस्था के पालन के द्वारा जीवन में प्रवेश करने की बात क्यों कही गई है। किन्तु अभी के लिए, आज जो भी अपने आप को अपने धर्म और डिनॉमिनेशन, उसके नियमों, परंपराओं, और विधियों का पालन करने वाले होने के कारण स्वयं को परमेश्वर की दृष्टि में भला और उसे स्वीकार्य समझते हैं, उन्हें सचेत होकर वास्तविकता को समझने और स्वीकार करने (1 थिस्सलुनीकियों 5:21; 1 कुरिन्थियों 10:12; 2 कुरिन्थियों 13:5), और पवित्र आत्मा के द्वारा पौलुस प्रेरित द्वारा लिखवाई गई बात, “इसलिये परमेश्वर अज्ञानता के समयों में आनाकानी कर के, अब हर जगह सब मनुष्यों को मन फिराने की आज्ञा देता है” (प्रेरितों 17:30) का पालन करने की आवश्यकता है - यह परमेश्वर का सुझाव या इच्छा मात्र नहीं, वरन उसकी आज्ञा है; और इस पद में लिखे “हर जगह सब मनुष्यों को” में सारे संसार के सभी ईसाई या मसीही समाज के सभी लोग भी ठीक वैसे ही आ जाते हैं जैसे अन्य किसी भी अन्य धर्म अथवा समाज के लोग।

 

यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। अपने पापों के लिये पश्चाताप करके प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु, मैं अपने पापों के लिए पश्चातापी हूँ, उनके लिए आप से क्षमा माँगता हूँ। मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मुझे और मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

The Law – Part 1 - Biblically, What is the Law? – 2

In the preceding articles, in context of a person’s being acceptable to God, and receiving salvation, we had started to see about being good in the eyes of God. We had seen that although men have created and established their own standards and criteria for being good for their earthly lives, but for any person to be good in God’s eyes, be acceptable to Him, and be able to reside in heaven with Him, he will have to fulfill not the man-made standards and criteria of earth, but the God given and established standards and criteria. And in the Christian faith, God has given these standards and criteria in His Word the Bible; and being reconciled with God, salvation, and heavenly life with God is not through any kind of good works or being good, but by repenting of sins and accepting the Lord Jesus as one’s savior. Then, in this context, we had started to consider the Law given by God through Moses in the Old Testament, and the salvation that is received by coming to faith in the Lord Jesus. We had seen that quite unlike the commonly held belief and concept by the people, the fulfilling of the Law is not by the following and observances of the offerings, sacrifices, feasts, traditions and rituals, etc.; rather, all these are symbols and forms given in the Old Testament of the life, work, and sacrifice of the Lord Jesus Christ; and fulfilling them does not save anyone (Hebrews 10:1-4). Then we had seen from Matthew 22:35-40 what the Lord Jesus had said to explain about the Law actually is; and this has been reiterated in Romans 13:9 as well.

Here we see this very important fact that the Lord Jesus, i.e. The Living Word who became flesh and dwelt among us (John 1:1, 14), has Himself defined for us that the Law of God is not the observance of any customs, religion, festivals, traditions, and rituals etc. Rather, God's Law is that which, on the basis of having a sincere love for God and for all people, establishes our honest commitment and submission to God and His Word over and above all else, and a sincere relationship, dedication, and behavior with God and with man.

The Ten Commandments in Exodus 20:1–17 are a slightly expanded version of these laws that guide and direct our attitude and behavior towards God and other human beings, in the manner God wants it done. Very briefly, the first four of these Ten Commandments (20:1-11) are about man's relationship and behavior with God; And the remaining six (20:12-17) are about man's relationships and interactions with other people. The Ten Commandments here are, in a way, similar to the headings of the chapters of a book; The heading only refers to what is in the chapter; while the details are found in the text of that chapter. Similarly, these commandments refer to ten different chapters of our association and relationship with God and men, and the text or content of these chapters, i.e., these aspects of our relationships is provided in other places of God's Word.

That is why whenever the Israelites deviated from the observance of the actual spirit of the Law, and only formally fulfilled the customs, feasts, festivals, rituals, i.e., merely the text of the Law, they then fell into moral and religious decline, and ended up being subjects of the wrath of God (Isaiah 1:11-20; Malachi 1:10). Exactly the same mentality and state of relationship with God is also seen in the present-day Christians and Christian society. Even in the days of the earthly ministry of the Lord Jesus Christ, there was the Temple of God, where all festivals and ceremonies were held and celebrated, offerings and sacrifices were made according to the Law, the God’s Word was read, heard and taught; but everything was ritualistic. The minds not only of the people, but even of their religious leaders, were far from God (Matthew 15:8); And the Lord called his temple a den of thieves (Matthew 21:13)!

 

The religious leaders had corrupted the stature of the temple, worship, and observance of the Law, making it a formality, a mere exercise of tradition. Instead of God's Word, they taught the people their own rules and regulations, their contrived words and laws (Matthew 15:3-9; Isaiah 29:3; see also Isaiah 1:1-17). And within the same Temple of God, religious leaders plotted and executed a conspiracy to betray and kill the Lord God Jesus Christ. Is not the same condition rampant today amongst Christians and in the Christian society also, where every denomination, creed, and community, has its own set of rules and regulations, all apart from the Word of God. All of these denominations, sects, and communities value the observance of the rules and regulations and rituals they have made, they value their own words more than the observance of the Word of God; and they also teach only their own words to be right, and of others to be wrong. And at these very places of worship, plans are made and implemented by the religious leaders to criticize others, stay segregated from others, and even oppose them. While preaching messages of God’s love for everyone and of universal brotherhood in Christ Jesus, which they themselves never put into practice.

In the next article we will see why the law cannot save us, what are its limitations; and then we will also see why it has been said that by following the Law one can enter life. But for now, those who today consider themselves to be good and acceptable in the eyes of God, by virtue of their being adherents and followers of the tenets of their religion and denomination, its rules, traditions, and ordinances, they must seriously introspect and consciously understand the reality (1 Thessalonians 5:21; 1 Corinthians 10:12; 2 Corinthians 13:5), and accept what the apostle Paul wrote by the Holy Spirit, "Truly, these times of ignorance God overlooked, but now commands all men everywhere to repent” (Acts 17:30). This is not merely a suggestion, or merely a thought expressed by God, but it is His command; and in “all men everywhere”, Christians i.e., all people of Christendom, world-wide, are also included in just the same way as people of any other religion or society.

If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord, make your decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now to ensure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Repenting of your sins, and asking the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily and sincerely, surrendering yourself to Him - is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life.  Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.

मसीही जीवन के चार स्तम्भ - 4 - प्रार्थना (25) 

व्यावहारिक मसीही जीवन जीने से सम्बन्धित बातों में से एक है प्रार्थना करना। आज के समय में मसीहियों में मसीही जीवन जीने से सम्बन्धित बातों को लेकर शैतान ने बहुत सी भ्रांतियाँ फैला रखीं हैं। इस कारण आज के मसीहियों का जीवन और व्यवहार, बाइबल में दिए गए आरम्भिक मसीहियों और कलीसियाओं के जीवन और व्यवहार से भिन्न हैं। किन्तु फिर भी परमेश्वर के वचन से बाहर की इन बातों को बड़ी लग्न से स्वीकार किया जाता है, उनका पालन किया जाता है। इन गलत बातों के मसीहियों के जीवन में घुस आने, और जड़ पकड़ लेने का मुख्य कारण है मसीहियों द्वारा व्यक्तिगत बाइबल अध्ययन को छोड़कर, केवल पास्टर, कलीसिया के अगुवों, या प्रचारकों द्वारा कही गई बातों पर अन्ध-विश्वास कर लेना और बिना जाँचे परखे उन्हें मानते रहना। यदि स्वीकार करने से पहले हर बात बाइबल से जाँची-परखी जाए, और फिर उसका पालन किया जाए, तो शैतान को अपने झूठ फैलाने का अवसर भी नहीं रहेगा। इसीलिए हम व्यावहारिक मसीही जीवन से सम्बन्धित बातों को परमेश्वर के वचन के उदाहरणों और लेखों के आधार पर देख रहे हैं, उनके वास्तविक स्वरूप और उपयोग के बारे में सीख रहे हैं। वर्तमान में, प्रार्थना के बारे में सीखते हुए, हम तथा-कथित “प्रभु की प्रार्थना” के बारे में मत्ती 6:5-15 से सीख रहे हैं। इस “प्रार्थना” को बचपन से ही मसीहियों को रटा दिया जाता है, और फिर वे जीवन भर, हर अवसर और हर परिस्थिति में, बिना इसके बारे में जाने, बिना इस पर सोचे समझे, इसे बोलते रहते हैं। लेकिन जैसा हमने पिछले लेखों में देखा है, प्रभु ने इसे अपने शिष्यों को उस तरह से उपयोग करने के लिए नहीं दिया था, जैसा कि आज इसे उपयोग किया जा रहा है। यह परमेश्वर से कारगर प्रार्थना करने की एक रूपरेखा, एक ढाँचा है, जिसके आधार पर मसीहियों को अपनी व्यक्तिगत प्रार्थनाएं बनानी और स्वरूपित करनी हैं। मत्ती के इस खण्ड से हमने, पद 5-8 से देखा है कि परमेश्वर के सामने प्रार्थना के साथ उपस्थित होने से पहले, प्रार्थना करने वाले को कुछ तैयारी कर लेनी चाहिए, परमेश्वर से क्या और क्यों माँगना है, उसके लिए अपने आप को कैसे तैयार करना चाहिए। आज से हम इस “प्रभु की प्रार्थना” के पदों, पद 9-13, पर विचार आरम्भ करेंगे।

प्रभु यीशु ने इस प्रार्थना की रूपरेखा, या ढाँचे के बारे में आरम्भ करते हुए कहा, “सो तुम इस रीति से प्रार्थना किया करो; “हे हमारे पिता, तू जो स्वर्ग में है; तेरा नाम पवित्र माना जाए। तेरा राज्य आए; तेरी इच्छा जैसी स्वर्ग में पूरी होती है, वैसे पृथ्वी पर भी हो” (मत्ती 6:9-10)। प्रभु द्वारा दिए गए प्रार्थना के इस ढाँचे, इस रूपरेखा को मोटे तौर पर तीन भागों में बाँटा जा सकता है - आरम्भिक सम्बोधन (पद 9-10), प्रार्थना के विषय (पद 11-13a), और समापन (पद 13b)। प्रार्थना की इस रूपरेखा का आरम्भिक सम्बोधन, और समापन दोनों परमेश्वर की आराधना अर्थात उसका गुणानुवाद, उसे सम्मान देना हैं। फिर मध्य भाग उन विषयों के बारे में है जिन्हें प्राप्त करने के लिए हमें परमेश्वर के सम्मुख आना है। अर्थात, प्रभु के लोगों को, प्रभु से कुछ प्राप्त करने की मनसा रखने वालों को, केवल प्रभु से माँगने वाला ही नहीं, वरन सबसे पहले प्रभु का आराधक, उसका गुणानुवाद करने वाला, उसे सम्मान देने वाला भी होना चाहिए। पिता परमेश्वर की आराधना, उसका गुणानुवाद करना, उसे सम्मान देना दिखाता है कि हम उसकी हस्ती को, उसके सार्वभौमिक, सर्वोच्च, सर्वाधिकारी होने को, सभी बातों के उसके नियंत्रण में होने को, और उसके हमारी हर आवश्यकता की पूर्ति करने की क्षमता रखने वाले एकमात्र होने को जानते और मानते हुए उसके सम्मुख अपनी आवश्यकताओं को लेकर आए हैं। जब हम परमेश्वर पिता की वास्तविक हस्ती, उसकी सार्वभौमिकता को अपने जीवनों में अंगीकार करेंगे, उसे सर्वप्रथम रखेंगे, उसके प्रति अपने जीवन और व्यवहार को उससे सम्बन्धित इन बातों के अनुरूप करेंगे, तो स्वतः ही फिर हम यह ध्यान भी रखेंगे कि हम उससे जो भी कहें, जो भी माँगें, वह हमारे पिता परमेश्वर की उस हस्ती और उसके गुणों के अनुसार हो। हमारा उससे कुछ भी माँगना या कहना, उसकी इस हस्ती में, उसके गुणों में कोई ऐसी बात न लाए, जो उसके स्वरूप और चरित्र की इन बातों को किसी भी रीति से कम करे, किसी भी तरह से उसे नीचा दिखाए, किसी भी रूप में उसके लिए अपमानजनक हो। तब ही हमें यह आशा रखनी चाहिए कि परमेश्वर पिता हमारी सुनेगा और उसका सकारात्मक उत्तर भी देगा।

हमने पिछले लेखों में देखा है कि परमेश्वर का प्रार्थनाओं को सुनकर उत्तर देने का आश्वासन, प्रचलित किन्तु गलत धारणा के विपरीत, केवल प्रभु के सच्चे, समर्पित, और आज्ञाकारी शिष्यों के लिए ही है; हर किसी के लिए नहीं। साथ ही हमने यूहन्ना 3:3, 5 से देखा है कि प्रभु का सच्चा शिष्य होने का अर्थ है वास्तव में नया जन्म पाया हुआ मसीही विश्वासी होना, परमेश्वर पिता के परिवार का एक सदस्य होना (यूहन्ना 1:12-13)। इसी बात के आधार पर प्रभु ने प्रार्थना की इस रूपरेखा में सबसे पहली बात जो कही है, वह है “हे हमारे पिता।” अर्थात, परमेश्वर से वार्तालाप का, उससे कुछ माँगने और पाने की इच्छा रखने का आधार परमेश्वर के साथ हमारा सम्बन्ध है। सबसे पहले हमें परमेश्वर के साथ अपने सम्बन्ध को समझना चाहिए। जिनका परमेश्वर के साथ पिता और सन्तान का सम्बन्ध नहीं है, उन्हें सबसे पहले अपने जीवन की इस कमी को ठीक करना चाहिए, और फिर परमेश्वर की सन्तान बनकर परमेश्वर से प्राप्त करने की लालसा रखनी चाहिए। जब व्यक्ति अपने आप को परमेश्वर के परिवार का सदस्य जानता और पहचानता है, तो वह फिर अपने जीवन और व्यवहार में, अपनी लालसाओं और अभिलाषाओं में इस बात का भी ध्यान रखेगा कि परमेश्वर पिता से उसका वार्तालाप, इस पारिवारिक सम्बन्ध, परिवार की इस गरिमा और सम्मान के अनुसार हो। उसकी किसी भी बात से न तो उसके पिता परमेश्वर पर और न ही उसके परिवार तथा अन्य पारिवारिक सदस्यों पर कोई आँच न आने पाए, कोई उँगली न उठाने पाए। अर्थात, इस पिता और सन्तान के सम्बन्ध के एहसास के साथ ही परमेश्वर के पास आने वाले व्यक्ति के जीवन, व्यवहार, लालसाओं, और अभिलाषाओं में स्वतः ही बहुत सुधार हो जाता है, व्यर्थ बातें हटने लगती हैं, और व्यक्ति परमेश्वर पिता की इच्छा और उसके वचन के अनुसार ढलने लग जाता है। ऐसे में स्वाभाविक है कि उसकी प्रार्थनाएं या ‘माँगें’ भी परमेश्वर पिता की इच्छा और वचन के अनुसार होने लग जाएंगी, और परमेश्वर को स्वीकार्य हो जाएंगी।

 

बहुत से लोगों में यह प्रवृत्ति पाई जाती है कि वे “प्रभु यीशु के लहू के द्वारा,” या “प्रभु के क्रूस के द्वारा,” या अन्य ऐसे किसी वाक्यांश का प्रयोग करते हुए परमेश्वर के सम्मुख आने की बातें बोलते हैं। परमेश्वर के वचन में, परमेश्वर के सम्मुख आने का आधार केवल व्यक्ति का परमेश्वर से पिता और सन्तान का रिश्ता होना ही दिखाया गया है। इसके अतिरिक्त जो भी सम्बोधन हैं, वे चाहे श्रद्धा पूर्ण हों, लेकिन वचन के उदाहरणों से सुसंगत नहीं हैं; वचन में जोड़ी गई बातें हैं, जो करना मना किया गया है। उनके प्रयोग के औचित्य और उपयोगिता का वचन से कोई समर्थन नहीं है। प्रभु द्वारा परमेश्वर पिता को सम्बोधित करने के लिए दिया गया वाक्यांश है “हे हमारे पिता;” इसलिए वचन में अपनी ओर से कुछ नया जोड़ने की बजाए, किसी मनुष्य की बुद्धि और समझ की बात का पालन करने की बजाए, प्रभु द्वारा दी गई बात का पालन करना ही सही और उचित है। अगले लेख में हम यहाँ से आगे देखेंगे।

The Four Pillars of Christian Living - 4 - Prayer (25)

One of the components of living a practical Christian life is prayer. Nowadays, Satan has spread many wrong concepts related to living a Christian life. Therefore, the life and behavior of the present-day Christians and of the churches is quite different from the way of living and behavior of the initial Christians and the churches at that time. But still, the things from outside of God’s Word are readily accepted and followed. The main reason for these wrong things having entered and taken root in the lives of the Christians is their moving away from personal Bible study, and depending only upon the Pastors, Church Elders, and Preachers; having a blind faith in whatever they say, and following them without first examining and cross checking them. If everything is examined and cross-checked from the Bible before accepting and following it, Satan will not have any opportunity to spread his lies. Therefore, we are learning about the actual form and observance of things related to practical Christian living from the examples and the text given in God’s Word. Presently, while learning about prayer, we are now considering the so-called “Lord’s Prayer” through Matthew 6:5-15. The children are made to memorize this “prayer” from their childhood, and then for the rest of their lives, on every occasion and for every circumstance, they keep repeating it, without knowing or understanding anything about it. But, as we have seen in the earlier articles, the Lord had not given it to His disciples to be used in such a manner as it is being used today. This is an outline, a framework, based on which the Christians have to build and mold their personal prayers. From this section of Matthew, we have seen from verses 5 to 8 of this section of Matthew, that before presenting ourselves before God in prayer, we should make some preparations about what we are going to ask God for, and why; and, how we should make ourselves ready to come before God. From today we will start considering this “Lord’s Prayer” given in verses 9-13.

The Lord Jesus at the beginning of this outline or framework said “In this manner, therefore, pray: Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done On earth as it is in heaven” (Matthew 6:9-10). This framework, this outline of prayer given by the Lord, can broadly be divided into three parts - the opening address (verses 9-10), the topics for asking (verses 11-13a), and the ending (verse 13b). In this framework of prayer, both, the opening address, and the ending are God’s worship, i.e., exalting and honoring Him. The middle part is about the things we should be coming to God for. In other words, the people of God, those who desire to receive something from God, should not just be those who ask for things from God, but also be those who worship Him, praise and honor Him. To worship Father God, to exalt and honor Him shows that we recognize His stature, His being all-in-all, the most high, the highest authority, everything being under His control, and His being the only one who has the ability to fulfill all our needs, and with this in mind we have come before Him for our needs. When we acknowledge the true stature of God, of His being all-in-all, give Him the first place in our lives, and mold our lives and behavior in accordance with these, then automatically we will also take care that whatever we say to Him, whatever we ask of Him, it is consistent with the stature and attributes of God. So, anything that we ask for or say, should not in any way be anything that in any way diminishes anything related to His characteristics and stature, is in any way insulting to Him, or brings Him down in any manner. Only then will we have this hope that Father God will listen to us and answer favorably.

We have seen in the earlier articles that God’s assurance to listen and answer prayers, contrary to the popular but wrong concept, is only for the true, surrendered, obedient disciples of the Lord; it has not been given for everyone. We have also seen from John 3:3, 5 that to be a true disciple of the Lord means to be a truly Born-Again Christian Believer, to be a member of God’s family (John 1:12-13). On this basis, the first thing that the Lord has said in this outline of prayer is “Our Father.” In other words, the basis of conversing with God, of having the desire to ask and receive something from Him, is our relationship with God. The first thing that we should understand about is our relationship with God. Those who do not have a Father and child relationship with God, should first rectify this deficiency in their lives, and then, having become a child of God, have the desire to receive anything from God. When a person recognizes himself as a member of God’s family, then in his life and behavior, in his desires and expectations, he is also careful to ensure that his conversation with God should be according to the dignity and honor of this familial relationship. Nothing of what he says or does should in any way bring a bad name, and no one should have any reason or opportunity to point fingers on his Father God and other members of his family. That is to say that with the realization of this Father and child relationship with God, the life, behavior, desires, expectations, etc., automatically start changing for the better, the vain things start falling away, and the person starts conforming to the will and Word of Father God. In such a situation, it is only natural that his prayers and ‘wants’ will also start becoming consistent with God’s will and Word, and will become acceptable to God.

There is a tendency seen in many people that they use phrases like “through the blood of Jesus” or “through the Cross of the Lord” or something else like these, to come before God with their requests. In God’s Word, the one and only basis of approaching God is the Father and child relationship with God. Using anything other than this to address God, even though it may sound reverential, it is not consistent with the examples given in God’s Word. They are additions to God’s Word, something that has been forbidden. There is no rationale and no utility for them on the basis of God’s Word. The phrase given by the Lord Jesus for addressing God is “Our Father.” Therefore, instead of adding anything new to God’s Word, instead of following anything according to the wisdom and understanding of any man, following what has been said and given by the Lord is the correct and appropriate thing to do. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life.  Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.
