    पिछले दो सप्ताह से हम एक ऐसे विषय पर विचार करते आ रहे हैं जो ईसाई या मसीही समाज में बहुत बहस, असमंजस, और विभाजनों का विषय बना हुआ है। इस विषय पर विचार करने के लिए जो तरीका हमने अपनाया है वह परमेश्वर के वचन बाइबल में इसके बारे में लिखी बातों को देखना और फिर जो लोग कलीसियाओं में स्त्रियों के प्रचारक अथवा पास्टर बनने का समर्थन करते हैं, उनके तर्कों का बाइबल की बातों के आधार पर विश्लेषण करना, और देखना कि क्या उनकी धारणाओं का बाइबल से कोई समर्थन है या नहीं।

    हमने आरंभ किया था शैतान की युक्तियों को देखने के साथ। शैतान की एक प्रमुख युक्ति है परमेश्वर के वचन की गलत व्याख्या के द्वारा लोगों को बहकाना, जिससे वे बाइबल की शिक्षाओं की गलत समझ रखें और उनका दुरुपयोग करें। उसके द्वारा उपयोग की जाने वाली दूसरी युक्ति, जिसका वह बहुधा उपयोग करता है, और जिसे उसने यहाँ पर भी उसने बहुत प्रभावी रीति से उपयोग किया है, लोगों का ध्यान उससे जो परमेश्वर ने दिया है हटा कर, उसकी ओर लगाना है जो परमेश्वर ने नहीं दिया। इस युक्ति के द्वारा वह लोगों को परमेश्वर द्वारा उन्हें दिए गए वरदानों के लिए परमेश्वर का धन्यवादी होने और उनका सदुपयोग परमेश्वर की महिमा और अपने लाभ के लिए करने की बजाए, जो नहीं मिला है उसके लिए परेशान होकर परमेश्वर के अनाज्ञाकारी होने और हानि उठाने के लिए करता है। इसी युक्ति के द्वारा वह इस विषय के बारे में लोगों के मनों में भ्रम और संदेह डालता है। हमने देखा है कि ऐसा नहीं है कि परमेश्वर ने अपने वचन की समझ और सिखाने की योग्यता स्त्रियों को नहीं दी है। जैसे पुरुषों के लिए, वैसे ही स्त्रियों के लिए भी परमेश्वर ने स्त्रियों को भी परमेश्वर के वचन की समझ और सिखाने की योग्यता प्रदान की है; अंतर यह है कि परमेश्वर ने स्त्रियों को यह सेवकाई अन्य स्त्रियों एवं बच्चों में करना निर्धारित किया है – उनके बीच में जहाँ पुरुष जाकर यह सेवकाई कभी नहीं कर सकते हैं।

    स्त्रियों का ध्यान उस पर लगाने के द्वारा जो परमेश्वर ने पुरुषों के लिए निर्धारित किया है – कलीसियाओं में प्रचारक और पास्टर का कार्य करें, शैतान ने लोगों को स्त्रियों के लिए दिए गए निर्देशों और उनके वरदानों से बहका दिया है, जिससे वे स्त्रियों को परमेश्वर द्वारा दी गई बातों का सदुपयोग नहीं करने पाएँ, वरन अनाज्ञाकारी होकर अपनी आशीषों को खो दें। क्योंकि 1 कुरिन्थियों 14:34-35 और 1 तीमुथियुस 2:11-12, में बाइबल बड़ी स्पष्टता से स्त्रियों के कलीसियाओं में प्रचार करने और पास्टर बनने को मना करती है, और इन्हीं खण्डों के साथ ही परमेश्वर ने इन निर्देशों के के कारण भी दिए हैं। साथ ही, बाइबल में इस धारणा के समर्थन में कोई भी बात नहीं है कि ये निर्देश केवल उस समय की कुछ विशेष कलीसियाओं के लिए दिए गए थे, या केवल उस युग की महिलाओं ही के लिए थे, क्योंकि तब स्त्रियाँ अधिकांशतः अनपढ़ होती थीं। इसी सन्दर्भ में हमने यह भी ध्यान किया था कि तर्क “क्योंकि स्त्रियों में भी वचन को समझने, प्रचार करने, और सिखाने की योग्यता है, इसलिए उन्हें कलीसियाओं में यह करने की अनुमति होनी चाहिए” व्यर्थ है क्योंकि शैतान के पास भी परमेश्वर के वचन को समझने, सिखाने और प्रचार करने की योग्यता है (2 कुरिन्थियों 11:3, 13-15); लेकिन इसका यह अर्थ तो नहीं है कि परमेश्वर की ओर से शैतान को यह करने की अनुमति है, और उसे यह करने देना चाहिए।

    इसके बाद हमने स्त्रियों द्वारा परमेश्वर के लोगों के मध्य प्रशासनिक एवं वचन की सेवकाई के उदाहरणों को देखा था। हमने ध्यान किया था कि पुराने नियम में केवल पुरुषों को ही याजकीय ज़िम्मेदारियाँ दी गईं थीं, कभी भी किसी भी स्त्री को नहीं, चाहे वे स्त्रियाँ याजकीय वंशजों में से ही क्यों न हों। नए नियम में भी हमने देखा था कि यद्यपि प्रभु यीशु और उसके शिष्यों के साथ कुछ स्त्रियाँ भी रहती थीं और उनकी देखभाल करती थीं, किन्तु प्रभु ने कभी भी किसी भी स्त्री को न तो प्रेरित नियुक्त किया, और न ही अन्य शिष्यों के साथ कभी किसी सेवकाई के लिए भेजा। और साथ ही आरंभिक कलीसिया में जो लोग कलीसियाओं से संबंधित विषयों पर चर्चा और निर्णय करने के लिए सभाओं में एकत्रित होते थे, उनमें कभी भी कोई भी स्त्री सम्मिलित नहीं थी, उन सभाओं में भी नहीं जिनमें स्त्रियों से संबंधित बातों पर चर्चा होती थी।

    इसके बाद हमने पुराने और नए नियम में दिए गए भक्त स्त्रियों के उदाहरणों को देखा था, जिनकी सेवकाई का दुरुपयोग बहुधा यह दिखाने के लिए किया जाता है कि क्योंकि बाइबल में इन स्त्रियों की सेवकाइयों का उल्लेख है, इसलिए यह अनुमति आज की स्त्रियों को भी दी जानी चाहिए। बाइबल में उन स्त्रियों के बारे में दी गई जानकारी के आधार पर हमने उनके उदाहरणों के लिए देखा था कि जब केवल बाइबल में दी गई जानकारी के आधार पर उनका निष्पक्षता तथा बिना किसी पूर्व-धारणा को आधार बनाए हुए विश्लेषण किया जाता है, तो कभी भी उनके उदाहरणों को उचित रीति से इस दावे की पुष्टि के लिए उपयोग नहीं किया जा सकता है कि स्त्रियों को भी कलीसियाओं में प्रचार करने और पास्टर बनने की अनुमति है।

    अगले लेख में हमने परमेश्वर के वचन से जो अभी तक देखा और समझा है, उसके आधार पर निष्कर्ष निकालेंगे।

According to the Bible, Do Women Have the Permission to Serve as Pastors and Preach from the Pulpit in the Church?

Part 15 – Summary

 

For the past two weeks we have been considering a topic that has been a cause of much confusion and debate, as well as divisions in Christendom. The approach we have taken is to see what the Word of God says, and then on the basis of what is written in the Bible, consider and analyze the various arguments put forward by those who support women preaching in Churches and becoming Pastors, and see if this notion has any Biblical standing or support, or not.

    We started off by first considering Satan’s strategies. One of his strategies is to mislead people through misinterpretation of God’s Word, causing them to misunderstand and wrongfully apply its teachings. The second strategy that he often uses, and has used very effectively over here is to turn our attention to what God has not given, instead of being aware and thankful for what God has given, and using the God given things for God’s glory and our benefit. Through this strategy he makes people to feel deprived and then by make the mistake of disobeying God and coming to harm. As part of this strategy, he puts misunderstandings and doubts in people heart about this topic. We had seen that it is not that God has withheld the understanding and ministry of God’s Word from women. Just as with men, God has given women also the gift of understanding and teaching His Word; only that God has assigned women to do this ministry amongst other women and children – places and people that men cannot go and serve for this ministry.

    By turning the attention of women to do what has been assigned by God for men to do – minister in Churches as preachers, and become Pastors, Satan has beguiled people to ignore God’s gifts and instructions, to not utilize what God has given the women, and thereby be disobedient to God, and lose their blessings. Because the Bible very clearly in 1 Corinthians 14:34-35 and 1 Timothy 2:11-12, forbids women from becoming preachers and Pastors in Churches. and in these passages, the reasons for this are also given by God. Moreover, there is nothing in the Bible to support the assumptions that these instructions were meant for only a particular Church of that time, or were only for women of that era, since most of the women were not literate or educated at that time. In this context we had also seen that the argument, “since women have the ability to understand, preach, and teach God’s Word, therefore, they should be allowed to do so in the Churches” is vain, since Satan too has the ability to understand, preach, and teach from God’s Word, and does so (2 Corinthians 11:3, 13-15); but this does not mean that he has God’s sanction to do so, and should be allowed to do it!

    We then considered examples from God’s Word about administrative and Word ministry by women amongst God’s people. We recalled that in the Old Testament all priestly duties were given to and carried out only by men, never by any women, not even by women of the priestly families. In the New Testament too, we had seen that though women were amongst the Lord Jesus’s followers and ministered to Him and His disciples, but the Lord never appointed any of them as Apostles, nor ever sent any of them for ministry, as He sent out His disciples. Also, in the various councils that met for deliberations in the initial Church, to sort out various issues arising in the Churches, there is no mention of any women being a part of the councils and deliberating over the issues with men, even while considering matters related to women.

    We then considered the examples of various godly women of the Old and New Testament, whose ministry examples are often misused to prove that since these women had a ministry in the Bible, therefore, this should be granted to the women now also. Through analyzing the information given in the Bible about those women, we saw that their examples, when considered purely on the basis of information given about them in the Bible, without any pre-conceived notions, and in an unbiased manner, can never rightfully be used to justify the claim that the Bible permits women to preach in the Churches, or be appointed as Pastors.

    In the next article we will come to the conclusions that we can draw from all that we have considered and analyzed regarding this topic from God’ Word so far.

You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life.  Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.

    पिछले लेख में हमने स्त्रियों को कलीसिया में प्रचार करने तथा पास्टर होने की अनुमति होने के लिए बहुधा दिए जाने वाले एक उदाहरण, फीबे के बारे में देखा था, और विश्लेषण से समझा था कि फीबे का उदाहरण इस धारणा का कोई समर्थन नहीं करता है। यह केवल यूनानी भाषा के एक शब्द डायकनोस के वास्तविक अर्थ के स्थान पर, उस शब्द से बने और कलीसिया में प्रयोग किए जाने वाले एक अन्य शब्द “डीकन” के वर्तमान समय में अर्थ, समझ, और प्रयोग से उत्पन्न विरोधाभास के कारण है। यदि मूल लेख के शब्द को उसके उस समय के तथा आज के भी वास्तविक अर्थ के अनुसार देखा और समझा जाए, तो कोई विरोधाभास नहीं रहता है। आज हम इसी प्रकार से एक अन्य बहुधा दुरुपयोग किए जाने वाले, यूहन्ना 4 अध्याय में दिए गए सामरी स्त्री के उदाहरण का विश्लेषण कर के उसकी वास्तविकता को देखते और समझते हैं।

    यह दावा किया जाता है कि सामरी स्त्री ने भी तो प्रभु यीशु का प्रचार किया था, और प्रभु यीशु ने उसका कोई विरोध नहीं किया। जब वह कर सकती है, तो आज कोई अन्य स्त्री क्यों नहीं कर सकती है? तर्क उचित तो प्रतीत होता है, किन्तु क्या वास्तव में सही है? सामरी स्त्री के साथ प्रभु यीशु की बातचीत, उसकी प्रतिक्रिया, तथा उस स्थान पर आई आत्मिक जागृति का वर्णन हमें यूहन्ना 4:4-42 में मिलता है। किन्तु जिस भाग को धारणा को सही ठहराने के लिए उदाहरण के लिए प्रयोग किया जाता है, वह हमें पद 28-30 में मिलता है। चाहे इस पूरे वृतांत को देखें, अथवा वृतांत के इस छोटे से भाग को, यदि बिना किसी पूर्व-धारणा के, निष्पक्ष रीति से देखा जाए तो उस सामरी स्त्री ने केवल एक बार अपने गाँव में अपनी गवाही दी, और वह भी सारे गाँव में घर-घर जाकर। उसने यह काम न तो किसी सभा में प्रचारक बनकर किया, न ही स्थानीय आराधनालय में जाकर किया, और न ही किसी आराधनालय में कोई नियुक्ति लेकर किया। उसने लोगों को अपने पापों के बारे में, तथा प्रभु द्वारा उनके निवारण के संबंध में बताया (यूहन्ना 4:28-29)।

    यदि ये व्यर्थ तर्क देने वाले, उस सामरी स्त्री को उदाहरण बनाकर चलना चाहते हैं तो क्या उन्हें चर्च में पुल्पिट से प्रचार करने, और कलीसिया में पास्टर का कार्य करने की इच्छा रखने के स्थान पर, सामरी स्त्री के समान पहले अपने रहने के स्थान के आस-पास के सभी घरों में जाकर अपने पापों के बारे में नहीं बताना चाहिए? क्या उस स्त्री के समान उन्हें लोगों को प्रभु द्वारा उसे मिले समाधान और नए जीवन के बारे में नहीं बताना चाहिए? सामरी स्त्री का उदाहरण तो हमें सभी को खुलकर अपनी गवाही देना सिखाता है, जिसके लिए किसी चर्च में पुलपिट पर खड़े होने अथवा पास्टर बनने की कोई आवश्यकता नहीं है। इस स्पष्ट उदाहरण के विपरीत, ये लोग बाइबल की बातों को तोड़-मरोड़ कर प्रस्तुत करते हैं, अपनी स्वार्थ-सिद्धि के लिए उनका दुरुपयोग करते हैं, जिससे कि चर्च में पुल्पिट से प्रचार करने और कलीसिया में पास्टर बनकर लोगों पर अधिकार रखने के लिए अपनी धारणा को सही दिखा सकें। अगले लेख में हम नए नियम की कुछ अन्य स्त्रियों के उदाहरण के बारे में देखेंगे, जिनको आधार बनाकर ये लोग अपनी धारणा को प्रमाणित तथा अपनी इच्छा पूरी करना चाहते हैं।

Part 11 – Analysis of Examples of Women of the New Testament – 2 – The Samaritan Woman

 

    In the previous article we had seen about an often-given example used to try to justify women preaching in the Church and being appointed as Pastors, of Phoebe. We had seen from the analysis, that the example of Phoebe does not in any way support the notion. The false impression has been created only by of misusing a word of the original Greek language Diakonos and its derivatives; by not looking at how the word and its derivatives have been used in general use and with their actual meaning. We saw how the word “Deacon” / “Deaconess”, derived from Diakonos, is nowadays used in the Churches in a much different sense than it was in its initial and original usage and meaning in the Bible. But if these words in the original writings are used with the same original sense and meaning that they were originally meant to convey in the Bible, then there is no confusion about Phoebe’s role in the Church. Today we will look at and analyze another example of another woman which is similarly often misused, the example of the Samaritan woman given in John’s gospel, chapter 4.

    It is often claimed that the Samaritan woman preached about the Lord Jesus, and the Lord did not object to it. If she could do it at that time, then why can’t women do it today? The argument seems to be valid, but then is it really correct and acceptable? The account of the Samaritan woman and her conversation with the Lord, and its outcome are recorded in John 4:4-42. But the portion that is used to try to justify the notion we find is given in verses 28-30. Whether we look at the whole episode, or just the two verses relevant to our discussion, if it is seen without any pre-conceived notions, in an unbiased manner, then it is clear that all that the Samaritan woman did was share her testimony, and that too by going around the village, from house to house. She did not do this by being a preacher in any meeting, nor in the local place of worship, nor by taking a job in any place of worship. She openly spoke to the people about her sins, and how the Lord Jesus had redeemed her from them (John 4:28-29).

    If the people giving vain justifications for their arguments want to use her as an example and do as she did, then instead of wanting to preach from the pulpit in the Church and desiring to be pastors, should they not like the Samaritan woman did, go from house to house in their locality, their area of residence and tell everyone about their sins, just as she had done? Should they not tell the people as the Samaritan woman had, about what the Lord did for her? The example of the Samaritan woman teaches us to openly and publicly share our testimony with others; and for doing this there is no necessity of speaking from the Church pulpit or being a Pastor; it can just as well be very effectively done by witnessing from house to house. Contrary to the very clear example, these people twist and trim the teachings and examples of the Bible to make them appear according to their own interpretations; to try to justify their selfish motives and desires, so that they can have the right to preach from the Church pulpit and become Pastors of the Church to have authority over the congregation. In the next article we will see about some more women of the New Testament, whose examples these people use to try to justify their notion and fulfill their desires.

भाग 7 – स्त्रियों के पक्ष में दिए जाने वाले कुछ तर्क – 3

 

    यह तर्क भी दिया जाता है कि बाइबल में महिलाओं के प्रचार करने और अधिकार रखने से संबंधित, तथा कुछ और विषय जैसे कि प्रार्थना और आराधना के समय में स्त्रियों का सिर को ढाँपना, पुरुषों को लंबे बाल नहीं रखना, आदि निर्देश केवल उसी समय के लिए दिए गए थे और आज उनका पालन आवश्यक नहीं है। इसलिए आज उन बातों का पालन करने पर ज़ोर देना अव्यावहारिक है, मान्य नहीं है। किन्तु परमेश्वर के वचन बाइबल में हम ऐसी कोई छूट, अनुमति या उदाहरण नहीं पाते हैं। कहीं ऐसा नहीं लिखा है कि ये बातें एक निर्धारित समय के लिए हैं, और न ही कहीं ऐसा लिखा है कि कितने समय के बाद उनका पालन करने की कोई आवश्यकता नहीं रहेगी। वरन परमेश्वर का संपूर्ण वचन सत्य है, और सदा काल के लिए आकाश में स्थापित है (भजन 119:89, 152, 160)। परमेश्वर का वचन, उसका हर भाग, उसके दिए जाने के समय से समय से लेकर जगत के अन्त के समय तक के सभी लोगों के लिए दिया गया है – उनके समय, सभ्यताओं, परिस्थितियों, जीवन-शैलियों, व्यवहारिक उपयोगिता, उनकी आवश्यकताओं, आदि के होनेभिन्न के बावजूद, सभी पर समान रीति से लागू एवं उपयोगी होने के लिए। भिन्न समयों, स्थानों, सभ्यताओं, परिस्थितियों, आदि के लोगों के लिए भिन्न वचन नहीं दिए गए हैं। जैसे कि वही एक प्रभु यीशु मसीह सारे संसार के सभी लोगों के लिए, चाहे वे किसी भी समय, स्थान, और सभ्यता आदि से क्यों न हों, एकमात्र उद्धारकर्ता है; वैसे वही एक वचन सभी पर समान रीति से लागू है, उसी वचन का देहधारी स्वरूप ही तो प्रभु यीशु मसीह है (यूहन्ना 1:14)। और जब प्रभु यीशु मसीह युगानुयुग एक सा है (इब्रानियों 13:8), जब वह परमेश्वर के स्वरूप में होकर कभी नहीं बदलता है (मलाकी 3:6), तो वह वचन के रूप में परिवर्तनीय कैसे हो सकता है? बाइबल में कोई भी परिवर्तन, काट-छाँट करने का, संशोधन या सम्पादन करने का अधिकार किसी भी मनुष्य को कभी भी नहीं दिया गया है। वरन चिताया गया है कि बाइबल की बातों में जोड़ने, या उसमें से कुछ छाँटने वाले के जीवन में यह करने के कारण भारी दुष्प्रभाव आएँगे (प्रकाशितवाक्य 22:18-19)। इसलिए अपने तर्क को सही ठहराने के लिए परमेश्वर के वचन के साथ खिलवाड़ करना, अपने लिए मुसीबतों को दावत देना है। वचन में जो लिखा गया है, हमारे पालन करने के लिए लिखा गया है, न कि उसे बिगाड़ने और अपने स्वार्थ-सिद्धि के लिए उपयोग करने के लिए।

    इसी प्रकार का एक अन्य तर्क यह भी दिया जाता है कि ये बातें उस समय की कुछ मंडलियों के लिए थीं, और वे आज की सभी मंडलियों पर लागू करने के लिए नहीं हैं। इस तर्क का एक स्वरूप हम पहले, 1 तिमुथियुस 2:11-12 के इफ़सुस की मण्डली के लिए ही होने, क्योंकि वहाँ पर उनकी देवी डायना का मन्दिर था, के संदर्भ में देख चुके हैं। उससे पहले 1 कुरिन्थियों 14:36-38 से हमने यह भी देखा था कि परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा ने पौलुस के द्वारा यह लिखवा दिया था कि प्रभु की सभी मण्डलियों को एक ही वचन, समान निर्देशों का ही पालन करना है। अलग-अलग मण्डलियों के लिए अलग-अलग वचन और निर्देश नहीं हैं। न तो तब थे, और न ही अब हैं; और न ही परमेश्वर के वचन में समय, स्थान, और सभ्यता, या लोगों के व्यवहार, अथवा पसंद-नापसंद के अनुसार कोई संशोधन या परिवर्तन किए गए हैं। वही एक ही वचन, सदा के लिए स्थापित है, सत्य है, अटल है, लागू है। यही वचन, जो परमेश्वर है, हमारे लिए देहधारी होकर प्रकट हुआ (यूहन्ना 1:1-2, 14); इसलिए वचन में काट-छाँट करना, उसे अपनी सुविधा के अनुसार तोड़ना-मरोड़ना, उसका दुरुपयोग करना, स्वयं परमेश्वर के साथ ऐसा करना है। इसलिए ऐसा करने वालों को उस परिणाम के लिए भी तैयार रहना चाहिए जो यह करने के कारण उन्हें भुगतना पड़ेगा।

    प्रकट है कि परमेश्वर के वचन को झुठलाने के लिए दिया जाने वाला कोई भी तर्क, विश्लेषण करने पर सही और स्वीकार्य नहीं ठहरता है, यह कदापि प्रमाणित नहीं करता है कि स्त्रियों को कलीसिया में प्रचार करने और पास्टर की ज़िम्मेदारियाँ निभाने की अनुमति है। परमेश्वर का वचन स्पष्ट है कि महिलाओं की अपनी सेवकाई है, और पुरुषों की अपनी, और परमेश्वर ने दोनों को उनकी सेवकाई के अनुसार वरदान दिए हैं। दोनों को ही अपनी-अपनी सेवकाई, निर्धारित सीमाओं में रहते हुए करनी है; अपनी इच्छा के अनुसार सीमाओं का उल्लंघन और दूसरे की सेवकाई में दखल नहीं देना है। अगले लेख से हम बाइबल की स्त्रियों के उदाहरणों का विश्लेषण करना आरंभ करेंगे।

    यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु, मैं अपने पापों के लिए पश्चातापी हूँ, उनके लिए आप से क्षमा माँगता हूँ। मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मुझे और मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

According to the Bible, Do Women Have the Permission to Serve as Pastors and Preach from the Pulpit in the Church?

Part 7 – Some Arguments Given in Favor of Women - 3

 

    This argument is also given that the instructions like women are not to preach or have authority over men, and instructions related to other topics like women covering the head during prayer and worship, men not to keep long hair, etc. were meant only for that time period, and have no relevance for today. Therefore, it is impractical and unnecessary to emphasize on following them. But there is no such relaxation, permission, or example given in God’s Word the Bible. Nowhere do we find written that these instructions were only for a limited time period, and neither has it been said after what time there will be no need to follow those instructions. What is said is that the whole of God’s Word is the truth, and is forever settled in heaven (Psalm 119:89, 152, 160). The Word of God, each and every part of it, since the time of its being given, has been given for all people till the end of the world – for uniform application and following by all at all times, by all cultures and civilizations, under all circumstances, by those of all life-styles, no matter the differences between the people. Different Words of God have not been given for use by different people in different times, places, cultures, circumstances etc. Just as one and the same Lord is the one and only Savior for all the people of the world, irrespective of time, place, civilization, etc., similarly one Word of God is universally and uniformly meant for everyone. The Lord Jesus Christ is that Word which became flesh (John 1:14). And, since the Lord Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever (Hebrews 13:8), since He being God has never changed (Malachi 3:6), then how can he change as the Word? No man has ever been given the right to cut and trim, edit, or alter the Word of God. Instead, a warning has been given that those who add to or subtract from the Word of God will suffer grave consequences (Revelation 22:18-19). Therefore, to play with the Word of God to justify one’s arguments, is inviting trouble. All that has been written in the Word, has been written for our obedience, not for corrupting it to serve selfish interests.

    Another form of this argument is that these instructions were meant of some of the then Churches, not for everyone. We have already seen one form of this argument earlier with 1 Timothy 2:11-12 being for the Ephesian Church, because the temple of their goddess Diana was located there. Prior to that, we had seen from 1 Corinthians 14:36-38 that God the Holy Spirit had it written through Paul that all the Churches of God had the same Word and instructions to obey. Neither then, nor now, different Word and instructions had not been given for different Churches, and neither is God’s Word to be altered, edited, or modified according to times, people, place, cultures, and convenience, or likes and dislikes of anyone. One and the same Word is established forever, is the truth, is unchanging, and forever applicable upon all. This very Word became flesh for us (John 1:14); therefore, to cut and trim that Word, or alter and edit it according to one’s convenience, to misuse it, is to do this to the incarnated Word, i.e., the Lord God Himself. Therefore, those who are desirous of doing this to God’s Word, should also remain ready to bear the consequences of their actions.

       

    So, it is evident that any argument given to falsify God’s Word, on proper evaluation and analysis, does not stand up as truth, is never found acceptable, and never proves that the women have the permission to preach from the pulpit, or to hold the office of pastor in the Churches of the Lord God. God’s Word is very clear, the women have their own ministry, and the men have theirs, and God has given the necessary gifts to both of them according to their ministries. Both have to fulfil their ministries within the limits set up for them by God. They are not to transgress those limits to fulfil their own desires, and are not to interfere in the ministries of one-another. From the next article, we will start considering the examples of the women of the Bible that are used to justify the argument. 

    If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord, make your decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now to ensure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Repenting of your sins, and asking the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily and sincerely, surrendering yourself to Him - is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life.  Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.

    एक अन्य तर्क यह दिया जाता है कि पौलुस ने उस समय यह बात इसलिए कही थी क्योंकि तब अधिकांश स्त्रियाँ अनपढ़ होती थीं, इसलिए उन्हें वचन की पर्याप्त समझ-बूझ नहीं रही होगी, और वे गलत व्याख्या कर सकती थीं। परन्तु आज वह स्थिति नहीं है, इसलिए यह निर्देश आज के लिए नहीं हैं। किन्तु परमेश्वर के वचन में जहाँ पर यह निर्देश दिए गए हैं, और साथ ही कारण भी लिखवाया गया है, वहाँ शैक्षिक स्तर और क्षमता की तो कोई बात ही नहीं दी गई है। और उस समय में न केवल महिलाएँ, वरन अधिकांश पुरुष भी अनपढ़ थे, प्रभु के शिष्यों और प्रेरितों में से अधिकांश तो अनपढ़ थे। फिर तो इस आधार पर केवल स्त्रियों को ही क्यों, पुरुषों को भी सेवकाई नहीं सौंपी जा सकती थी! किन्तु प्रभु ने तो अनपढ़ लोगों को भी समझ-बूझ वाला, ज्ञानवानों को निरुत्तर करने वाला बना दिया (प्रेरितों 4:13)।

    एक तर्क यह भी है कि, क्योंकि तिमुथियुस इफिसुस में कलीसिया का अगुवा था, इसलिए पौलुस द्वारा तिमुथियुस को लिखी पत्री में कही गई बात को लेकर, यह तर्क दिया जाता है कि यह बात इफिसुस की मण्डली के लिए ही कही गई थी। इसका आधार यह बनाया जाता है कि इफिसुस उस समय की एक बहुत मानी जाने वाली देवी, डायना, का शहर था; वहाँ पर डायना का बहुत भव्य मन्दिर था, और डायना के भक्त वहाँ बहुतायत से रहते तथा आते-जाते थे (प्रेरितों 19 अध्याय देखिए)। इस कारण वहाँ के समाज में स्त्रियों का बोल-बाला था, जो कि मसीही कलीसिया में भी दिखाई देता था। इसलिए पौलुस ने मसीही विश्वासियों को अन्य लोगों से भिन्न दिखाने के लिए यह लिखा था। किन्तु पौलुस ने तो कुरिन्थुस की मण्डली को लिखी पत्री में भी यही बात लिखी थी। फिर, तिमुथियुस को अथवा कुरिन्थुस की मण्डली को लिखी पत्रियों में डायना का, समाज में स्त्रियों के बोल-बाले का कोई उल्लेख नहीं है। दोनों स्थानों पर इस निर्देश के स्पष्टीकरण के जो आधार दिए गए हैं, उनके साथ इस तर्क का कोई सामंजस्य कदापि नहीं है। और इसीलिए यह तर्क भी व्यर्थ और अस्वीकार्य है।

    अपनी बात को किसी भी प्रकार से सही ठहराने का प्रयास करने वाले, यह तर्क भी देते हैं कि 1 कुरिन्थियों 14:34-35 में पति-पत्नियों के लिए यह बात कही गई है, न कि सभी स्त्रियों के लिए। और फिर अपनी बात को तर्क संगत ठहराने के लिए वे यह भी कहते हैं कि 1 तिमुथियुस 2:11-12 में भी मूल यूनानी भाषा के जिन शब्दों का अनुवाद “पुरुष” और “स्त्री” किया गया है, वे शब्द पति और पत्नी के सूचक हैं। यद्यपि यह संभव है, किन्तु उन यूनानी शब्दों का केवल पति-पत्नी ही अर्थ नहीं है। ठीक वही शब्द, इसके ठीक पहले, 1 तिमुथियुस 2:8-10 में भी उपयोग किए गए हैं। तब तो इस तर्क के आधार पर 1 तिमुथियुस 2:8-10 में दिए गए शालीनता के एवं मर्यादापूर्ण व्यवहार से संबंधित निर्देश केवल पति-पत्नियों पर ही लागू होने चाहिएँ, अविवाहित पुरुषों और स्त्रियों पर नहीं; और यह बिल्कुल अस्वीकार्य बात है। यदि पद 8-10 जन-सामान्य के लिए है, तो फिर 11-12 पद की बात केवल पति-पत्नियों के लिए कैसे हो सकती है? क्या यह तर्क देना बाइबल की बातों को अपनी बात मनवाने के लिए दुरुपयोग का स्पष्ट उदाहरण नहीं होगा?

Part 6 – Some Arguments Given in Favor of Women - 2

 

    Another argument that is often given is that Paul had said this at that time since most of the women of that time were uneducated, therefore they might not have had sufficient understanding about the Scriptures and could have misinterpreted them. But today that is not the case, therefore, this instruction is not for today. But at the place where these instructions have been given in God’s Word, the reasons for those instructions have also been given, and there is no mention of any educational status or capabilities there in those reasons. And, in that time, not just the women, but most of the men too were uneducated, and most of the Lord’s disciples and Apostles were uneducated. Therefore, on this basis, why just the women, even the men could not have been entrusted the ministry! But the Lord made even the uneducated people to have such understanding that the educated and knowledgeable could not stand up to them (Acts 4:13).

    An argument is that since Timothy was a Pastor of the Church in Ephesus, therefore, what Paul has written was meant for the Church in Ephesus. This is said because a very well known and venerated goddess, Diana, had a very grand temple in Ephesus, and Ephesus was considered to be her city; worshippers of Diana kept coming and going in and out of Ephesus in large numbers (see Acts chapter 19). Therefore, the women of that city had a dominant position in the society, which was also being seen in the Christian Church there. Therefore, to show Christians as different from the other people, Paul wrote this instruction. But Paul has written the same thing to the Church in Corinth. Also, Paul has not written anything about the influence of Diana or of the dominance of women in that society in giving these instructions in either of the letters to the Corinthian or the Ephesian Churches. In both the letters, the reasons given for giving this instruction, have nothing to do with this argument. Therefore, this argument too is vain and unacceptable.

    Those who want to prove their argument to be correct at any cost, also give another reason – that what is said in 1 Corinthians 14:34-35 is for husbands and wives, and not for all women. Then, to further bolster this argument they say that the word used in the original Greek language in 1 Timothy 2:11-12, that has been translated as “men” and “women”, are words indicative of husbands and wives. Although this may be possible, but the meaning of those Greek words is not only husbands and wives. Those very words have been used in the immediately preceding verses, 1 Timothy 2:8-10 also. Therefore, going by this argument, the instructions given in those verses for wearing modest apparel and living with decency should also be applicable only to the husbands and wives, and not the unmarried men and women; and this is an absolutely unacceptable argument. If verses 8-10 are for the general public, then how can verses 11-12 be only for husbands and wives? Is not the giving of this argument a clear example of manipulating the Bible to make it conform only to a particular opinion or understanding?

    बाइबल में स्त्रियों को कलीसिया में या पुलपिट से प्रचार करने की अनुमति नहीं है। कुछ लोग बाइबल के कुछ उदाहरणों का गलत उपयोग कर के स्त्रियों द्वारा प्रचार करने, तथा पुलपिट का प्रयोग करने को सही ठहराने का प्रयास करते हैं। किन्तु यह उनके द्वारा वचन से ऐसे अर्थ निकालना है, जो बाइबल की व्याख्या के सिद्धान्तों के अनुसार अनुचित एवं अस्वीकार्य हैं। उनके ये प्रयास वचन को एक गलत धारणा में बैठाने, उसके अनुरूप करने के लिए वचन के खंडों को तोड़ना-मरोड़ना और उनका दुरुपयोग करना है। उनके इन प्रयासों एवं उदाहरणों का बाइबल के आधार पर विश्लेषण हम आने वाले लेखों में देखेंगे। आज के लेख में हम देखते हैं कि इस विषय पर बाइबल में क्या लिखा गया है। स्त्रियों को जिस बात के लिए प्रभु ने मना किया है वह है पुरुषों को सिखाना या कलीसिया अर्थात चर्च में बोलना या उपदेश करना। इस निर्देश को दो स्थानों पर लिखा गया है:

    इस विषय पर परमेश्वर के वचन बाइबल का पहला निर्देश है: 1 कुरिन्थियों 14:34-35 “स्त्रियां कलीसिया की सभा में चुप रहें, क्योंकि उन्हें बातें करने की आज्ञा नहीं, परन्तु आधीन रहने की आज्ञा है: जैसा व्यवस्था में लिखा भी है। और यदि वे कुछ सीखना चाहें, तो घर में अपने अपने पति से पूछें, क्योंकि स्त्री का कलीसिया में बातें करना लज्ज़ा की बात है।” परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा द्वारा पौलुस से लिखवाए गए इन शब्दों पर ध्यान कीजिए:

·        यह मात्र सुझाव अथवा इच्छा नहीं है; यह आज्ञा है।

·        यह कलीसिया की सभा में सम्मिलित होने वाली सभी स्त्रियों के लिए है।

·        इस आज्ञा का आधार परमेश्वर का वचन है, न कि पौलुस की कोई व्यक्तिगत धारणा।

    उपरोक्त पदों के साथ, पौलुस द्वारा उन्हें साथ ही में कही गई एक और बात को भी देखना यहाँ पर सहायक होगा – 1 कुरिन्थियों 14:36-38 “क्या परमेश्वर का वचन तुम में से निकला? या केवल तुम ही तक पहुंचा है? यदि कोई मनुष्य अपने आप को भविष्यद्वक्ता या आत्मिक जन समझे, तो यह जान ले, कि जो बातें मैं तुम्हें लिखता हूं, वे प्रभु की आज्ञाएं हैं। परन्तु यदि कोई न जाने, तो न जाने।”

    पौलुस ने कुरिन्थुस की मण्डली को यह पत्री उनकी बहुत सी गलतियों को ठीक करने के लिए लिखी थी; और उन गलतियों में से एक महिलाओं द्वारा कलीसिया में अधिकार जताने और बोलने से भी संबंधित थी, जिसे उसने उपरोक्त पदों में संबोधित किया है। अब पत्री के अन्त की ओर पहुँचते हुए, वह पवित्र आत्मा की अगुवाई में, अभी तक कि लिखी सुधार की सभी बातों, महिलाओं के कलीसिया में बोलने के सहित, के सन्दर्भ में पौलुस उपरोक्त पद 36-38 में उस मण्डली के लोगों को कहता है कि कुरिन्थुस की मण्डली के लोगों का परमेश्वर के वचन और उसके निर्देशों पर कोई एकाधिकार अथवा विशेषाधिकार नहीं है। उन्हें भी परमेश्वर के वचन और निर्देशों को वैसे ही स्वीकार तथा पालन करना है जैसे कि अन्य कलीसियाओं को। जैसा अन्य कलीसियाओं में है, उन्हें भी वैसे ही रहना है।

    साथ ही उन्हें, और विशेषकर उन्हें जो उन में अपने आप को आत्मिक जन समझते हैं, यह भी समझना और स्वीकार करना है कि पौलुस ने जो उन्हें लिखा है वह उसकी अपनी इच्छा नहीं, परमेश्वर की आज्ञाएँ हैं। किन्तु यदि कोई इस बात को स्वीकार नहीं करता है तो इससे उनके लिए परमेश्वर का वचन बदला नहीं जाएगा। उसे फिर अनाज्ञाकारिता का स्वयं अपना हिसाब देना होगा।

    इस विषय पर परमेश्वर के वचन बाइबल का दूसरा निर्देश है: 1 तीमुथियुस 2:11-12 “और स्त्री को चुपचाप पूरी अधीनता में सीखना चाहिए। और मैं कहता हूं, कि स्त्री न उपदेश करे, और न पुरुष पर आज्ञा चलाए, परन्तु चुपचाप रहे।” साथ ही इससे आगे के दो पदों पर भी ध्यान कीजिए: 1 तीमुथियुस 2:13-14 “क्योंकि आदम पहिले, उसके बाद हव्वा बनाई गई। और आदम बहकाया न गया, पर स्त्री बहकाने में आकर अपराधिनी हुई।”

यहाँ पर आकर, इस विषय पर स्पष्टीकरण देते हुए, वह इस निर्देश के दिए जाने के आधार को बताता है – उनकी रचना किए जाने के समय से ही प्राथमिकता पुरुष की है, स्त्री को पुरुष का सहायक होने के लिए बनाया गया (उत्पत्ति 2:18), उसकी निर्देशक या स्वामिनी होने के लिए नहीं, और पाप में पड़ने के बाद स्त्री को पुरुष के आधीन किया गया (उत्पत्ति 3:16)। साथ ही पौलुस पवित्र आत्मा की अगुवाई द्वारा यह भी दिखाता है कि स्त्री कमज़ोर पात्र है, जैसा कि पतरस ने लिखा है (1 पतरस 3:7), और इसीलिए शैतान ने, परमेश्वर के वचन का दुरुपयोग कर के अपनी चाल को कामयाब करने के लिए स्त्री को चुना, न कि आदम को, क्योंकि स्त्री के बहकाए जाने की संभावना अधिक थी, और यही हुआ भी। क्योंकि उसकी सृष्टि से ही परमेश्वर ने स्त्री को एक भिन्न भूमिका के लिए बनाया है, जिसमें पुरुषों को वचन सिखाना सम्मिलित नहीं है, इसलिए स्त्री को परमेश्वर द्वारा निर्धारित सीमाओं का आदर करना चाहिए न कि उनका उल्लंघन।

    

वचन के ये दोनों निर्देश बताते हैं कि परमेश्वर की आज्ञा है कि कलीसिया की सभाओं में स्त्रियाँ चुप रहें, उपदेश न करें, और न पुरुषों पर आज्ञा चलाएँ, वरन आधीन होकर सीखें – जो उत्पत्ति 3:16 के अनुसार है, और यदि कुछ पूछना या समझना हो तो वह घर जाकर करें। यहाँ पर यह भी ध्यान करना चाहिए कि “आधीन” होने से अर्थ दासी समान होने या गुलामी करना नहीं है, वरन आदर और प्राथमिकता देना है। इन पदों से स्पष्ट है कि बाइबल के अनुसार स्त्रियों को पुलपिट से प्रचार करने या पास्टर होने की जिम्मेदारियों को निभाना परमेश्वर की अनाज्ञाकारिता है, अनुचित है।

    अगले लेख में हम स्त्रियों के प्रचार करने और कलीसियाओं में पास्टर होने की बात का समर्थन करने वालों के कुछ तर्कों, और उनके द्वारा उठाई गई कुछ आपत्तियों को देखेंगे; और फिर बाद में उनके द्वारा बाइबल से दिए जाने वाले उदाहरणों के बारे में देखेंगे।

    यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु, मैं अपने पापों के लिए पश्चातापी हूँ, उनके लिए आप से क्षमा माँगता हूँ। मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मुझे और मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

According to the Bible, Do Women Have the Permission to Serve as Pastors and Preach from the Pulpit in the Church?

Part 4 – Biblical Instructions for Women in the Church

 

    The Bible does not permit to women to use the Pulpit, i.e., preach in the Church. Some people by misusing some Biblical examples try to justify women’s preaching in the Church and say that there is nothing wrong with it. But this is misinterpreting God’s Word, by not following principles of Bible interpretation, to give it inappropriate and unacceptable meanings. Their efforts are to twist and trim God’s Word, misuse it to make it conform to a particular line of thought. We will look at the examples and explanations given by them in the coming articles and analyze them from God’s Word the Bible. In today’s article we will see what the Bible says on this topic. What the Lord has not permitted the women is to teach men, and to speak or preach in the Church. This instruction has been given at two places:

    The first instruction about this in God’s Word is: 1 Corinthians 14:34- 35 “Let your women keep silent in the churches, for they are not permitted to speak; but they are to be submissive, as the law also says. And if they want to learn something, let them ask their own husbands at home; for it is shameful for women to speak in church.” Pay attention to the words written by Paul through God the Holy Spirit:

·        This not a mere suggestion or desire; it is a command.

·        It is for all women gathered and participating in the Church service.

·        The basis of this command is God’s Word, not Paul’s own or personal concept.

    Here, along with the above verses, it will be helpful to consider another thing said in the very next verses - 1 Corinthian 14:36-38 “Or did the word of God come originally from you? Or was it you only that it reached? If anyone thinks himself to be a prophet or spiritual, let him acknowledge that the things which I write to you are the commandments of the Lord. But if anyone is ignorant, let him be ignorant.”

    Paul had written this letter to the Church in Corinth to correct many errors that had come into the Church; and one of their mistakes was related to women exercising authority and speaking during the Church service, which has been addressed in these aforementioned verses. Now, coming towards the end of this letter, under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, in context of all the corrections that he had written to them, including about women speaking in the Church, Paul says in the above-mentioned verses 36-38 that the members of the Church in Corinth do not have any special rights or privileges related to God’s Word. They too have to accept and obey God’s Word, just the same as the other Churches do. As is the practice in other Churches, they too have to follow the same.

    Moreover, those amongst them, who consider themselves to be spiritual, they should understand and accept that what Paul had written to them are not his own desires, but God’s commands. But if anyone is not willing to accept this, then the Word of God will not be altered for that person. Then he will have to answer for himself before God.

    The second instruction in God’s Word on this topic is in 1 Timothy 2:11-12 “Let a woman learn in silence with all submission. And I do not permit a woman to teach or to have authority over a man, but to be in silence.” Also, pay attention to the next two verses written here, 1 Timothy 2:13-14 “For Adam was formed first, then Eve. And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived, fell into transgression.”

    Here, to clarify, he provides the basis for this instruction – since their creation the primacy is of man, the woman was made as a helper for man (Genesis 2:18), and not someone to direct, or to dominate him; and after the committing of sin, the woman was put under man (Genesis 3:16). Through the Holy Spirit, Paul also says that woman was created as a weaker vessel, as Peter has written (1 Peter 3:7), and that is why, Satan misused God’s instructions to make Eve fall, not Adam, since his chances of success were better working on Eve than on Adam, and that is what happened as well. From her very creation, woman has been created for a different role than man, and her role does not include teaching God’s Word to men. Hence, women should respect her God assigned limits, and not transgress them.

    Both of these instructions on this topic show that it is God’s command that in a Church service, women should remain silent, should not preach, and should not exercise authority over men. Rather, learn under submission – which is in accordance with Genesis 3:16. If the women need to ask or understand anything, they should do that at home. It is also important to note here that being under submission does not mean becoming a slave or a servant, but giving respect and due honor, the primacy, to men. It is clear from these verses that the Bible does not permit women to use the pulpit, i.e., preach in the Church, nor to be a Pastor in the Church; doing either of these is disobeying God and is inappropriate.

In the next article we will look at some of the arguments given, objections raised by those who are in favor of women preaching and being Pastors; and then we will look at the examples they cite from the Bible to justify their stand.

    If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord, make your decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now to ensure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Repenting of your sins, and asking the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily and sincerely, surrendering yourself to Him - is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life.  Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.
