कलीसिया का निर्माण – समीक्षा

 

पिछले लगभग एक महीने से हम निरन्तर इस बात पर जोर देते चले आ रहे हैं कि प्रत्येक नया-जन्म पाए हुए मसीही विश्वासी को परमेश्वर ने न केवल अपनी कलीसिया का एक अंग बनाया है, वरन उसे अपने परिवार के अन्य सदस्यों, अर्थात, अन्य उद्धार पाए हुए संतानों के साथ सहभागिता में भी रखा है। परमेश्वर के अनुग्रह से मिले इस प्रावधान के साथ एक निहितार्थ भी है, कि परमेश्वर ने अपनी प्रत्येक सन्तान को अपनी कलीसिया और अपनी सन्तानों के साथ सहभागिता रखने का भण्डारी भी बनाया है। इस तथ्य के द्वारा परमेश्वर की सन्तानों पर निहित जिम्मेदारियों को समझने और सीखने के लिए हम परमेश्वर की कलीसिया के बारे में मत्ती 16:18 से, जहाँ पर “कलीसिया” शब्द बाइबल में पहली बार आया है, देख रहे हैं कि कलीसिया क्या है और कैसे बनाई गई है। आज हम, जो कुछ हमने अभी तक सीखा है, उसकी समीक्षा करेंगे, और फिर इसके बाद के लेखों में हम कलीसिया के उद्देश्य और हमने अभी तक जो परमेश्वर की कलीसिया और उसकी सन्तानों के साथ सहभागिता के बारे में सीखा है, उसके व्यावहारिक निहितार्थों को देखेंगे।

पिछले लेखों में हमने मत्ती 16:18 में प्रभु के कहे वाक्य - “...मैं इस पत्थर पर अपनी कलीसिया बनाऊंगा...” से देखा है कि बाइबल के अनुसार कलीसिया कोई आराधना का भौतिक स्थान अथवा भवन नहीं है, वरन उन लोगों का समूह है जो प्रभु यीशु को जगत का एकमात्र उद्धारकर्ता स्वीकार करते हैं।  और इस आधार पर, उन्होंने प्रभु यीशु से पापों की क्षमा और उद्धार प्राप्त करके उसकी आज्ञाकारिता में बने रहने के लिये अपने आप को पूर्णतः प्रभु को समर्पित किया है। प्रभु यीशु द्वारा कहे गए इस वाक्यांश से हमने प्रभु की इस कलीसिया के विषय तीन बातें देखीं - पहली प्रभु यीशु ही अपने लोगों को एकत्रित कर रहा है, और उसके लोगों में किसी अन्य आधार पर कोई भी व्यक्ति सम्मिलित नहीं हो तथा रह सकता है; प्रभु या तो उन्हें पृथक कर देता है, या अन्ततः कर देगा। दूसरी बात उसके लोगों की देखभाल और रख-रखाव के लिए प्रभु की इस कलीसिया का संपूर्ण स्वामित्व प्रभु यीशु ही के पास है; प्रभु ने कुछ लोगों को कलीसिया की कुछ ज़िम्मेदारियां अवश्य दी हैं, किन्तु स्वामी वह स्वयं ही है, और उसने जिसे जो कार्य या ज़िम्मेदारी सौंपी है, उससे उसका हिसाब अवश्य लेगा। अपने लोगों की जरा से भी हानि या उनके प्रति कोई भी लापरवाही उसे कतई स्वीकार नहीं है। और तीसरी बात है कि प्रभु की कलीसिया अभी निर्माणाधीन है, प्रभु यीशु ही उसे बना रहा है; उसकी कलीसिया में कौन कहाँ पर किस प्रकार से उपयोग होगा, यह केवल प्रभु यीशु ही निर्धारित एवं कार्यान्वित करता है। किसी भी व्यक्ति का, वह चाहे कोई भी क्यों न हो, इसमें कोई हस्तक्षेप नहीं है। अर्थात् प्रभु यीशु की कलीसिया से संबंधित हर बात पूर्णतः प्रभु ही के नियंत्रण में है, किसी भी मनुष्य या मानवीय संस्था का इसमें कोई हस्तक्षेप नहीं है, चाहे इस संसार में उस मनुष्य अथवा संस्था का कोई भी स्थान या सम्मान क्यों न हो। 

प्रभु यीशु ने अपने स्वर्गारोहण से पहले अपने शिष्यों को जो महान आज्ञा दी (मत्ती 28:18-20; मरकुस 16:15-19; लूका 24:47; प्रेरितों 1:8), वह सारे संसार के सभी लोगों, सभी जातियों में जा कर पापों से पश्चाताप करने और यीशु को प्रभु स्वीकार करने के द्वारा प्रभु यीशु में पापों की क्षमा और उद्धार पाने के सुसमाचार प्रचार करने के लिए थी। अर्थात्,  प्रभु का दृष्टिकोण केवल किसी एक स्थान विशेष के लोगों के लिए नहीं है, वरन सारे संसार के सभी लोगों के लिए है। इसलिए प्रभु यीशु की कलीसिया किसी स्थान अथवा जाति विशेष तक ही सीमित नहीं है, वरन विश्वव्यापी है। प्रभु संसार के सभी स्थानों और लोगों में से अपने विश्वासियों को एकत्रित करके अपनी विश्वव्यापी कलीसिया बनाने में लगा हुआ है। हम मसीही विश्वासी सुसमाचार प्रचार के द्वारा प्रभु के इस कार्य में उसके सहकर्मी, उसके सहायक हैं – हम सुसमाचार प्रचार के द्वारा लोगों को प्रभु के पास लाते हैं, प्रभु से जोड़ते हैं; और जो सच्चे मन तथा पूर्ण समर्पण से प्रभु के साथ जुड़ता है, उसे अपना उद्धारकर्ता स्वीकार करता है और अपना जीवन उसे समर्पित करता है, प्रभु उसे अपनी कलीसिया में उसके लिए उपयुक्त और उचित स्थान निर्धारित करके, उसे उस स्थान और दायित्व के निर्वाह के लिए तैयार करता है, प्रयोग करता है।

किन्तु साथ ही प्रभु यीशु प्रत्येक व्यक्ति के पापों से पश्चाताप और उसके प्रति उस व्यक्ति के समर्पण की वास्तविक मनोदशा भी भली-भांति जानता है, कोई उसका मूर्ख नहीं बना सकता है और न ही छल से प्रवेश कर सकता है। इसलिए उसकी कलीसिया में केवल वही बना रह सकता है, और उपयोगी हो सकता है, जो प्रभु के मानकों पर सही होता है। अन्य सभी लोग देर-सवेर, अथवा जगत के अंत के समय के पृथक किए जाने में कलीसिया से बाहर निकाल कर अनन्त विनाश में भेज दिए जाएंगे (मत्ती 13:30)। इसलिए हम सभी के लिए अभी यह अवसर है कि कलीसिया में अपने होने के विषय अपनी सही जाँच-परख कर लें, और यदि कोई सुधार लाना है तो उसे अभी समय रहते कर लें, क्योंकि किसके पास समय और अवसर कब तक है कोई नहीं जानता है; इस निर्णय को टालना बहुत हानिकारक, और अनन्तकाल के लिए पीड़ादायक हो सकता है (इब्रानियों 3:7-19)।

यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। स्वेच्छा से अपने पापों के लिये पश्चाताप करके, प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु, मैं अपने पापों के लिए पश्चातापी हूँ, उनके लिए आप से क्षमा माँगता हूँ। मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मुझे और मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

Building the Church – Review

 

For the past month we have been repeatedly emphasizing that every Born-Again Christian Believer has not only been made a member of His Church by God, but has also been placed in fellowship with the other members of God’s family, i.e., the other saved children of God. Inherent in this gracious provision from God is the fact that God has also made every one of His children, stewards of His Church and of fellowshipping with each other. To be able to understand the responsibilities this fact places upon the children of God, we have been studying about God’s Church from Matthew 16:18, where the word “Church” has first been used in the Bible – what it is, and how it is built. Today we will review what we have learnt so far, and then in the subsequent articles we will look at the purpose of the Church, and the practical implications of what we have learnt about God’s Church and fellowshipping with His children.

In the previous articles, we have been looking at important things from the Lord’s statement, “...on this rock I will build My church…” (Matthew 16:18). We have seen that, Biblically, the Church is not a building or a physical place of worship. It is a group of people called-out and gathered by the Lord Jesus Christ, those that accept Him as the one and only God appointed savior of the world. And, on this basis they have asked for forgiveness of their sins from the Lord Jesus, and have surrendered their lives to Him, to live in His obedience. From this sentence, we had seen three things about the Church: First, it is the Lord Jesus Himself who is gathering together His people; none can become ‘His people’ and join His Church on any other basis or criteria - Lord either separates them out, or eventually will do it.  Second, the Lord Himself looks after and takes care of His people in the Church; He alone has the full ownership and authority of His Church. Although the Lord has given some responsibilities for the managing and functioning of the Church to some people chosen by Him for this, but only He is the owner, and will take an account from those He has appointed for any work or given any responsibility. The Lord does not tolerate any carelessness or harm to His Church from anyone. Thirdly, the Church of the Lord Jesus is still “Under Construction;” the Lord Jesus Himself is building it. He alone determines who will do what, where, and when in His Church. No person, whoever he may be, has any say in this. So, everything related to the Church of the Lord Jesus is under the control of the Lord Himself; no person or organization has any say or interference in it, whatever be the status, or respect, or ranking of that person or institution in this world.

The Great Commission that the Lord gave to His disciples, before His ascension to heaven (Matthew 28:18-20; Mark 16:15-19; Luke 24:47; Acts 1:8), was for them to go into the world and preach the gospel to all people, to tell them about repentance of their sins and receiving forgiveness of sins by accepting Jesus as Lord and committing their lives to Him. In other words, the Lord’s perspective was not just for a particular place or people, but for everyone in the world. Therefore, the Church of the Lord too is not confined to any particular place or people, but is universal. The Lord Jesus is engaged in gathering His people from all over the world to build His Universal Church. The truly Born-Again Christian Believers are the Lord’s co-workers, His helpers in this, through preaching the gospel. Through the preaching of the gospel, we bring people to the Lord, join them to the Lord, and those who join with the Lord with a true heart and full submission, those who accept the Lord Jesus as their savior and Lord, the Lord then assigns that person a place in His Church, and starts preparing him to take that place and work for Him accordingly.

But along with this, the Lord also well knows the actual condition of the repentance, faith, and submission to Him of every person, none can fool Him or bluff their way through. Therefore, in His Church, only those will remain and be useful, who satisfy the standards and criteria of the Lord. Else, sooner or later, or eventually at the time of separation that will be done at the end of the world, everyone not truly Born-Again, will be cast out of the Church into eternal destruction (Matthew 13:30). Therefore, for all of us, this is a time and opportunity to examine ourselves about our being a part of the Lord’s Church, and carry out whatever rectifications that are required to ensure we actually are a part of His Church. Ignoring or postponing this decision can have disastrous and eternal consequences (Hebrews 3:7-19).

If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord, make your decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now to ensure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Repenting of your sins, and asking the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily and sincerely, surrendering yourself to Him - is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life.  Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.

       पिछले लेख में हमने देखा था कि परमेश्वर ने आरम्भ से ही गैर- इस्राएलियों  के लिए  इस्राएलियों में सम्मिलित हो जाने, और उनका अभिन्न अँग बन जाने, तथा उनकी इस लोक एवं परलोक की आशीषों में सम्मिलित हो जाने का मार्ग खोल कर रखा हुआ है, और बहुत सारे लोगों ने इसका लाभ भी उठाया है। साथ ही हमने यह भी देखा था कि किसी अन्य-जाति जन का  इस्राएलियों में सम्मिलित होना, पूर्णतः उसकी अपनी इच्छा पर निर्भर था; इसके लिए उसे किसी रीति से बाध्य नहीं किया जाना था, कोई लालच नहीं देना था, ऐसा न करने पर उसकी किसी प्रकार की कोई हानि नहीं करनी थी।  इस्राएलियों में सम्मिलित हो जाने के बाद,वह उनका एक ऐसा भाग बन जाता था, मानों सदा से उनके साथ रहा हो; उसके साथ किसी प्रकार का कोई भेद-भाव नहीं किया जाता था। आज हम परमेश्वर के इस प्रावधान का हमारे इस नए नियम की व्यवस्था के समय में उपयोग के बारे में देखेंगे।

       नए नियम में प्रभु भोज के संदर्भ में, जैसा कि हम पहले भी देख चुके हैं, हर कोई जो स्वेच्छा से प्रभु यीशु मसीह का शिष्य बनने को स्वीकार करता है, उसे समर्पित हो जाता है, उसकी तथा उसके वचन की आज्ञाकारिता में चलने का निर्णय ले लेता है, वह प्रभु की मेज़ में भाग ले सकता है। फिर, प्रभु में लाए गए विश्वास और उसे ग्रहण कर लेने के बाद, यहूदी अथवा गैर-यहूदी होने का कोई महत्व नहीं रह जाता है, उसके आधार पर कोई भेद-भाव नहीं किया जा सकता है। बहुधा कुछ पदों, जैसे कि, इफिसियों 1:4; 2 थिस्सलुनीकियों 2:13; 1 पतरस 1:2, आदि के आधार पर, अर्थात, “पहले से चुने जाने” के आधार पर, यह तर्क दिया जाता है कि क्योंकि परमेश्वर ने पहले से लोगों को चुन लिया है, इसलिए केवल वे ही उद्धार पाएंगे, और शेष सभी नाश हो जाएंगे। यद्यपि इसमें कोई संदेह नहीं है कि ये पद स्पष्टतः कुछ लोगों के परमेश्वर द्वारा पहले से चुने हुए होने को कहते और पुष्टि करते हैं, किन्तु साथ ही कहीं पर भी बाइबल यह नहीं कहती है कि केवल यही चुने हुए ही बचाए जाएंगे, और शेष सभी नाश हो जाएंगे! यह मनुष्य की बनाई हुई धारणा है, परमेश्वर की कही बात के आधार पर मनुष्य द्वारा एक गढ़ा गया तर्क है, परमेश्वर द्वारा कही गई बात नहीं है। जिस प्रकार से इस्राएली परमेश्वर की चुनी हुई प्रजा थे, उनके जन्म से भी पहले परमेश्वर ने उन्हें चुन लिया था, किन्तु फिर भी परमेश्वर ने उनमें अन्य लोगों के सम्मिलित होने के लिए मार्ग बना कर दिया था, उसे खुला रखा हुआ था। इसी प्रकार से, जो लोग प्रभु यीशु मसीह के साथ जुड़ना चाहते हैं, अर्थात नया जन्म पाए हुए मसीही विश्वासी बनना चाहते हैं, वे भी बन सकते हैं, यदि वे स्वेच्छा से प्रभु यीशु को अपना उद्धारकर्ता स्वीकार करके, उसे समर्पित हो जाने और उसकी तथा उसके वचन की आज्ञाकारिता में जीवन जीने का निर्णय कर लेते हैं। स्वर्ग में प्रवेश कर पाने का द्वार किसी के लिए भी बंद नहीं किया गया है, चाहे वह पहले से चुना हुआ हो अथवा नहीं हो। प्रत्येक जो परमेश्वर की वाचाओं के अधीन होकर, उसके नियमों, उसके उद्धार के मार्ग का पालन करने के लिए तैयार है, उसे ऐसा करने के लिए स्वागत है। वे पहले प्रभु को ग्रहण करके, प्रभु यीशु के शिष्य बनकर, तब प्रभु के मेज़ में भाग लें।

        प्रभु भोज, इसमें भाग लेने वालों को स्मरण दिलाता है कि यद्यपि उन्हें इसमें भाग लेने का यह आदर प्राप्त हुआ है, लेकिन अभी बाहर और लोग हैं, जिन्हें भी अन्दर लाए जाने की आवश्यकता है, जिन्हें अभी समय और अवसर रहते सुसमाचार के बारे में, परमेश्वर द्वारा दिए गए और उद्धार के लिए खुले हुए द्वार के बारे में बताने की, उन्हें दिखाने की आवश्यकता है; इससे पहले कि द्वार हमेशा के लिए बंद हो जाए और संसार पर न्याय का समय आ पड़े।

        यदि आप एक मसीही विश्वासी हैं, और प्रभु की मेज़ में भाग लेते रहे हैं, तो कृपया अपने जीवन को जाँच कर देख लें कि आप वास्तव में पापों से छुड़ाए गए हैं तथा आप ने अपना जीवन प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता में जीने के लिए उस को समर्पित किया है। आपके लिए यह अनिवार्य है कि आप परमेश्वर के वचन की सही शिक्षाओं को जानने के द्वारा एक परिपक्व विश्वासी बनें, तथा सभी शिक्षाओं को वचन की कसौटी पर परखने, और बेरिया के विश्वासियों के समान, लोगों की बातों को पहले वचन से जाँचने और उनकी सत्यता को निश्चित करने के बाद ही उनको स्वीकार करने और मानने वाले बनें (प्रेरितों 17:11; 1 थिस्सलुनीकियों 5:21)। अन्यथा शैतान द्वारा छोड़े हुए झूठे प्रेरित और भविष्यद्वक्ता मसीह के सेवक बन कर (2 कुरिन्थियों 11:13-15) अपनी ठग विद्या और चतुराई से आपको प्रभु के लिए अप्रभावी कर देंगे और आप के मसीही जीवन एवं आशीषों का नाश कर देंगे। 

        यदि आपने अभी तक प्रभु की शिष्यता को स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी उसके पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। यदि आपने अभी तक नया जन्म, उद्धार नहीं पाया है, प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा नहीं माँगी है, तो अभी आपके पास समय और अवसर है कि यह कर लें। प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” परमेश्वर आपके साथ संगति रखने की बहुत लालसा रखता है तथा आपको आशीषित देखना चाहता है, लेकिन इसे सम्भव करना आपका व्यक्तिगत निर्णय है। सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी। क्या आप अभी समय और अवसर होते हुए, इस प्रार्थना को नहीं करेंगे? निर्णय आपका है।

The Passover & The Lord’s Table - Invitation to Become God’s People (2)

 

       We had seen in the last article that since the beginning God had made the provision for the non-Israelites i.e., Gentiles joining and getting amalgamated amongst the Israelites, becoming an inseparable part and becoming partakers of the blessings of Israel in this world as well as the next. We had also seen that for a Gentile to join the Israelites, it had to be his own voluntary decision; he was not to be in any way compelled, enticed, or threatened of any harm, if he was not willing to join them.  Once he joined the Israelites, he would become a part of them, as if he always had been with them; there was to not be not to be discriminated against in any way. Today we will consider the application of this provision of God in our times of the New Testament.

        In the New Testament context of the Holy Communion, as we have seen before, everyone who voluntarily and willingly becomes a disciple of the Lord Jesus, submits to Him, decides to live in obedience to Him and His Word, can participate in the Lord’s Table. There is no differentiation, no importance of being a Jew or a Gentile before coming to faith in the Lord, and accepting Him. Often, on the grounds of some verses, e.g., Ephesians 1:4; 2 Thessalonians 2:13; 1 Peter 1:2, etc., i.e., on the grounds of “pre-destination”, of God having chosen beforehand, it is argued that only these chosen ones will be saved, rest will perish. While there is no doubt or argument that these verses certainly support and affirm the concept of being chosen by God beforehand, of “pre-destination”, but nowhere does the Bible ever say that other than these pre-destined ones, all the others will perish! This is a man-made assumption, a contrived corollary to what God has said, and not something said by God. As the Israelites were the chosen people of God, chosen even before they were born, but still God had left a way open for others to join them and become one with them; similarly, those who want to join the people of the Lord Jesus, i.e., the Born-Again Christian Believers, they can do so, if they voluntarily are willing to accept the Lord Jesus as their savior and Lord, submit to Him, and live in obedience to Him and His Word. The door to be able to enter heaven has not been shut on anyone, whether chosen beforehand or not; whoever is willing to come under, accept and follow God’s covenant, God’s law, God’s way of salvation, is welcome to first do so, and then as a child of God, as a disciple of Christ, to participate in the Lord’s Table.

        The Holy Communion reminds the participants that though they have been given this privilege of partaking in it, but there are others outside, who need to be brought in, who need to be told about the Gospel and shown God’s open door to be saved, while there is time and opportunity available to them; before the doors are finally shut, and the time of judgment comes upon people of the world.

       If you are a Christian Believer, and have been participating in the Lord’s Table, then please examine your life and make sure that you are actually a disciple of the Lord, i.e., are redeemed from your sins, have submitted and surrendered your life to the Lord Jesus to live in obedience to Him and His Word. You should also always, like the Berean Believers, first check and test all teachings that you receive from the Word of God, and only after ascertaining the truth and veracity of the teachings brought to you by men, should you accept and obey them (Acts 17:11; 1 Thessalonians 5:21). If you do not do this, the false apostles and prophets sent by Satan as ministers of Christ (2 Corinthians 11:13-15), will by their trickery, cunningness, and craftiness render you ineffective for the Lord and cause severe damage to your Christian life and your rewards.

        If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord Jesus, then take a decision in its favor now to secure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. The Lord's security and blessings are present where there is obedience of the Lord, where His Word is honored and followed. If you are still not Born Again, have not obtained salvation, or have not asked the Lord Jesus for forgiveness for your sins, then you have the time and opportunity to do so right now. Ask the Lord Jesus to forgive your sins, and voluntarily and sincerely surrender yourselves into His hands - this is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. All you have to do is say a short prayer, voluntarily and with a sincere heart, with heartfelt repentance for your sins, and a fully submissive attitude. You can do this in this manner, “Lord Jesus, I confess that I have disobeyed You, and have knowingly or unknowingly, in mind, in thought, in attitude, and in deeds, committed sins. I believe that you have fully borne the punishment of my sins by your sacrifice on the cross, and have paid the full price of those sins for all eternity. Please forgive my sins, change my heart and mind towards you, and make me your disciple, take me with you." God longs for your company and wants to see you blessed, but to make this possible, is your personal decision. One prayer said with a sincere and surrendered heart will turn your present and future, your life here on earth and in the next world, forever and make you heavenly and blessed. Will you not say this prayer now, while you have the time and opportunity to do so? The decision is yours.

       हमने पिछले लेख में निर्गमन 12:43-49 से देखा था कि क्यों फसह में और प्रभु भोज में भाग लेने की सही और स्वीकार्य विधि केवल वही है जो परमेश्वर ने निर्धारित की और दी है, कोई अन्य नहीं। प्रत्येक वह व्यक्ति जो मनुष्य द्वारा बनाई गई किसी विधि से उसमें भाग लेता है, वह परमेश्वर की अनाज्ञाकारिता करता है; और परमेश्वर की अनाज्ञाकारिता पाप है, जिसके घातक परिणाम होते हैं।  इसलिए, उनके लिए जो इनमें अनुचित रीति से भाग लेते हैं, परमेश्वर के अनुसार नहीं बल्कि मनुष्यों के अनुसार, वह जिसे उनके लिए आशीष का कारण होना था, एक श्राप और हानि का कारण हो जाता है। साथ ही हमने परमेश्वर द्वारा किए गए एक अद्भुत प्रावधान का भी उल्लेख किया था, जिसे हम आज देखेंगे।

        पिछले लेख में, हमने इसी खण्ड से देखा था कि कोई भी परदेशी, यात्री, दास - मोल लिया अथवा मजदूर, कोई भी जो “इस्राएल की मण्डली” का नहीं है, उसे फसह में भाग लेने की अनुमति नहीं थी, जब तक कि वह पहले परमेश्वर की उस वाचा की अधीनता में नहीं आ जाता जो परमेश्वर ने अब्राहम के साथ बाँधी थी, और उसके अन्तर्गत खतना नहीं करवा लेता। लेकिन साथ ही इस बात पर भी ध्यान कीजिए कि परमेश्वर के इन निर्देशों में कहीं यह नहीं कहा गया है कि परमेश्वर के लोगों को उन्हें बाध्य करना, या किसी लालच द्वारा फुसलाना था, या उनपर ज़ोर देना था कि वे यह करें, परमेश्वर की वाचा को स्वीकार करें, और खतना करवाएं। वरन, जैसे कि पद 48 में लिखा है, “यदि कोई परदेशी तुम लोगों के संग रहकर यहोवा के लिये पर्व को मानना चाहे” - वह “परदेशी”, चाहे कोई भी परदेशी, यात्री, दास - मोल लिया अथवा मजदूर, यदि वह यहोवा के लिए पर्व को मनाना चाहे, तो उसे पहले खतना करवाना होगा, अर्थात प्रकट करना होगा कि वह स्वेच्छा से परमेश्वर की वाचा की अधीनता में आया है, और उसके बाद ही फसह में सम्मिलित हो। इस प्रकार से परमेश्वर ने उसी समय उन गैर-यहूदियों के लिए, अर्थात उन लोगों के लिए भी जो स्वाभाविक रीति से अब्राहम के वंशज नहीं थे, परमेश्वर के लोग हो जाने, और उन्हीं आशीषों के संभागी हो पाने का मार्ग दे दिया; यदि वे स्वेच्छा से अपने आप को परमेश्वर को समर्पित करें। यहाँ पर ध्यान देने योग्य एक और महत्वपूर्ण बात है कि परमेश्वर ने ऐसा कोई निर्देश नहीं दिया कि ऐसे गैर-यहूदियों से यहूदियों में आने वाले लोगों के लिए कोई अलग गोत्र बनाया और रखा जाए; उन्हें किसी भी रीति से ज़रा भी भिन्न समझा जाए। वरन यह कि उन का उन्हीं लोगों के मध्य समावेश किया जाए जिनके मध्य वे रह रहे हों, और उन्हें अब्राहम के वंशजों के समान सभी अधिकार और विशेषाधिकार प्रदान किए जाएं (यहेजकेल 47:22-23)।

      इस्राएल के इतिहास में ऐसा होने के अनेकों उदाहरण विद्यमान हैं। मिस्र से इस्राएलियों के छुड़ाए जाने के समय एक “मिली-जुली भीड़” भी उन लोगों के साथ निकल आई (निर्गमन 12:38)। उस भीड़ को भी परमेश्वर की सुरक्षा, देखभाल, मन्ना, चट्टान से पानी, लाल-सागर के विभाजित होने पर सुरक्षित पार उतर जाना, शत्रुओं के हमलों से रखवाली, आदि सभी बातें वैसे ही उपलब्ध थीं जैसे इस्राएलियों को थीं। यद्यपि वचन में यह नहीं लिखा है कि उनका और उनकी संतान का कनान पहुँचने पर क्या हुआ, लेकिन साथ ही यह भी नहीं लिखा है कि उन्हें कनान में प्रवेश करने से मना किया गया। अर्थात इस्राएलियों से यह नहीं कहा गया कि उन लोगों को अपने से अलग करके उसके बाद कनान में प्रवेश करें। यदि वे इस्राएलियों के साथ कनान तक पहुंचे, तो फिर बहुत संभव है कि वे वाचा की भूमि में इस्राएलियों के साथ उनका भाग बनकर बस भी गए। राहाब वेश्या को इस्राएलियों के मध्य बसा लिया गया और उसका नाम प्रभु यीशु की वंशावली में आता है (मत्ती 1:5)। मोआबी रूत भी यहूदियों में स्वीकार की गई और दाऊद, जिसकी वंशावली में प्रभु यीशु ने जन्म लिया, उसकी परदादी बनी (रूत 4:13, 18-22)। एस्तेर की पुस्तक में हम देखते हैं कि बहुत से लोग यहूदियों से मिल गए और उनका ही भाग बन गए (एस्तेर 8:17)। इस संदर्भ में कृपया यशायाह 14:1; ज़कर्याह 8:20-23; यहेजकेल 47-22-23; होशे 2:23; रोमियों 9:25 भी देखिए। संपूर्ण बाइबल में, नए नियम और प्रकाशितवाक्य की पुस्तकों में भी,इस्राएल के सदा ही बारह गोत्र कहे गए हैं, जो याकूब की संतानों के नाम से जाने जाते हैं। कभी भी गैर-यहूदियों से यहूदियों में मिलने वालों के लिए किसी नए गोत्र को बनाने और निभाने की बात नहीं कही गई है। दूसरे शब्दों में, परमेश्वर ने अब्राहम के स्वाभाविक वंशजों के अतिरिक्त भी अन्य लोगों के लिए उसके लोग बन जाने का मार्ग पुराने नियम में ही खोल दिया था; यदि वे अपनी पुरानी मान्यताओं, रीतियों आदि को छोड़कर, स्वेच्छा से उसे समर्पित होने, उसकी आज्ञाकारिता में चलने, उसकी वाचाओं का पालन करने के लिए तैयार हों, परमेश्वर के लोग बनकर इस्राएलियों को दिए गए परमेश्वर की व्यवस्था और निर्देशों का पालन करने के लिए तैयार हों।

        अगले लेख में हम परमेश्वर के इस प्रावधान के, नए नियम में प्रयोग के बारे में देखेंगे।

The Passover & The Lord’s Table - Invitation to Become God’s People (1)

        In the last article we had seen from Exodus 12:43-49 the reason why the only correct and acceptable manner of participating in the Passover and in the Holy Communion is the one that has been ordained and given by God, none other. Everyone participating through any man-made ways is disobeying God; and disobedience against God is sin, has its deleterious consequences. Therefore, for those who participate in an unworthy manner, “unto men” instead of “to the Lord” as the Word of God instructs; to them what was meant to be a blessing, becomes a curse and cause for harm. We had also mentioned an amazing provision made by God in these verses. We will look up this provision today.

        In the last article, we had seen from this section, that no foreigner, sojourner, servant - bought or hired, no one outside the “congregation of Israel” was permitted to partake of the Passover, unless they first came under God’s covenant with Abraham, and were circumcised. But also notice that these instructions from God do not say that God’s people had to compel, entice, or force others in any manner to get circumcised, i.e., to accept coming under God’s covenant. Rather, as it says in verse 48, “when a stranger dwells with you and wants to keep the Passover to the Lord” - that “stranger”, whether a foreigner, sojourner, or any servant - bought or hired, if he wants to keep the Passover to the Lord, then he should first get circumcised, i.e., make it evident that he has willingly submitted to God’s covenant, and then partake of the Passover ‘to the Lord.’ So, God has opened a way for the gentiles, those not Jews or Abraham’s descendants by birth, to still become God’s people, and become partakers of the same blessings; provided they do it willingly, submit to Him volitionally. Another important thing to notice is that God has not instructed that a separate tribe be created and maintained for these gentiles who become God’s people; they were to be amalgamated amongst the people they were living in, and have the same rights and privileges as the actual descendants of Abraham (Ezekiel 47:22-23).

        There are many examples in the history of Israel of this having happened. At the time of the deliverance of the Israelites from Egypt, a large “mixed-multitude” went out with them (Exodus 12:38). They too received God’s protection, care, Manna, water from the rock, passed through safely through the divided Red Sea, safety from the enemies, etc., as the Israelites did. Although it does not say what happened to them or their children on reaching Canaan, but what it does not also say is that the Israelites were asked to separate them out and not let them enter Canaan. If they reached Canaan with the Israelites, then they quite likely settled in the Promised Land as part of the Israelites. Rahab the harlot was accommodated amongst the Israelites and finds a mention in the genealogy of the Lord Jesus (Matthew 1:5). Ruth, a Moabite, also was accepted into the Jews and became the great-grandmother of David, from whose lineage the Lord Jesus came (Ruth 4:13, 18-22). In the book of Esther, we see that many people joined the Jews and became a part of them (Esther 8:17). In this context, please also see Isaiah 14:1; Zechariah 8:20-23; Ezekiel 47-22-23; Hosea 2:23; Romans 9:25. Throughout the Bible, even in the New Testament and Book of Revelation, Israel has always had twelve tribes, named after the descendants of Jacob; no new tribe was made to accommodate the gentiles that joined them from time-to-time. In other words, God had opened a way for people other than the natural descendants of Abraham, to become the people of God even in the Old Testament, provided they were willing to voluntarily submit to His covenant and instructions, and leaving behind their previous beliefs, live as God’s people obeying God’s Law and instructions, given to the Israelites.

        In the next article we will see how this provision from God is applicable today, in the New Testament times.

पिछले लेख में हमने देखा था कि यद्यपि यहूदियों का यह विश्वास था कि पित्रों के वंशज होने के नाते, वे स्वतः ही परमेश्वर के लोग थे, जिन्हें उसके राज्य में प्रवेश करने और उसकी आशीषों को प्राप्त करने का अधिकार था, लेकिन यह उनकी गलतफहमी थी; पवित्र शास्त्र में उनकी इस गलत धारणा के लिए कोई समर्थन नहीं था। ठीक उसी प्रकार से, आज अधिकाँश मसीही या ईसाई, इसी गलतफहमी में जीवन जीते हैं कि एक परिवार विशेष में जन्म लेने के नाते, और उस परिवार के एक धर्म के साथ जुड़े होने के कारण, तथा उनके द्वारा उस धर्म के या उनकी डिनॉमिनेशन अथवा मत के रीति रिवाजों को पूरा करने के द्वारा, वे स्वतः ही परमेश्वर के लोग हो जाते हैं, जिन्हें उसके राज्य में प्रवेश करने और उसकी आशीषों को प्राप्त करने का अधिकार है। इस गलतफहमी के निवारण के लिए हमें यह देखने की आवश्यकता है कि परमेश्वर का वचन मसीही होने के बारे में क्या कहता है; और फिर हम देखेंगे के क्यों कोई भी अपने धर्म के निर्वाह, धार्मिक रीति-रिवाज़ों के पालन, और अपने भले कार्यों के द्वारा परमेश्वर के राज्य में प्रवेश नहीं कर सकता है। आज से हम देखना आरम्भ करेंगे कि परमेश्वर के लोग, अर्थात, मसीही होने के बारे में बाइबल क्या कहती है।

• एक बहुत महत्वपूर्ण बात, किसी भी प्रेरित अथवा शिष्य के किसी भी परिवार के सदस्य को, कभी भी, किसी के भी द्वारा, कोई विशेष दर्जा नहीं दिया गया, और न ही उनके प्रति कोई विशेष व्यवहार रखा गया, इसलिए क्योंकि वे प्रभु यीशु के प्रेरित अथवा शिष्य के संबंधी थे। प्रभु यीशु के प्रेरित या शिष्य होने के कारण जो विशेषाधिकार उन्हें मिले थे, जो सामर्थ्य, जैसे कि चंगाई देना और दुष्टात्माओं को निकालना (मत्ती 10:1; लूका 10:9, 17, 19), उन्हें दी गई थी, उसके कारण कभी भी उनके परिवार के लोगों के साथ कोई विशिष्ट व्यवहार नहीं किया गया – इन प्रेरितों और शिष्यों के विशेषाधिकारों और अलौकिक सामर्थ्य ने उनके परिवार के लोगों को कोई विशेष स्तर अथवा स्थान प्रदान नहीं किया।

• न ही प्रभु ने कभी अपने स्वयं के परिवार के सदस्यों को, उसके साथ सम्बन्धित होने के कारण विशिष्ट अथवा विशेषाधिकार प्राप्त समझा या दिखाया; इसी प्रकार से वे जो प्रभु के साथ रहने से उसके साथ एक विशिष्ट सम्बन्ध और स्थिति में थे, उन्होंने भी कभी अपने परिवार के लोगों को कोई विशेष स्थान या स्तर का न तो समझा न ही दिखाया। जन-साधारण ने भी प्रभु और उसके साथ के लोगों के परिवार-जनों को कभी औरों से भिन्न या विशिष्ट नहीं समझा।

    अगले लेख में हम यहाँ से आगे बढ़ेंगे और देखेंगे कि शब्द “मसीही” प्रभु यीशु से सम्बन्धित लोगों के साथ किस प्रकार जुड़ गया, और उसके क्या अभिप्राय हैं।

Teachings Related to the Gospel – 17

    In the previous article we have seen that though the Jews believed that by virtue of their being the descendants of the Patriarchs, they automatically were the people of God, entitled to enter His Kingdom and receive His blessings, but this was a misconception on their part; the Scriptures never supported this wrong notion that they had. In just the same manner, most of the Christians today live under a similar misconception, considering themselves to automatically be God’s people, entitled to a place in God’s Kingdom and receive His blessings, because of the family they have been born in, the religion professed by that family, and because of their fulfilling certain rituals associated with the religion and its denomination or sect their family is associated with. To clarify this misconception, we need to see and understand what the Word of God actually says about being a Christian; and then learn about why no one can enter the Kingdom of God through their religion, fulfilling religious rites and rituals, and their good works. Today we will begin considering what the Bible says about being people of God, i.e., being a Christian.

We know from the Gospel accounts that during the earthly ministry of the Lord Jesus crowds followed Him wherever He went. But only a small number from those crowds were the disciples of the Lord (Matthew 4:25; 5:1-2; Luke 6:17; John 6:2-3), the rest were mainly curious onlookers. Of his disciples, He called out twelve to be with Him, called them Apostles (Mark 3:13-14; Luke 6:13-16), and trained them to be His messengers to the ends of the earth, to spread the good news of salvation by faith in the Lord Jesus (Acts 1:8).

There are some very important things which are usually overlooked, never taken into any consideration, when considering the subject, “Biblically speaking, who is a Christian?” Some things that we should pay attention to and bear in mind are:

• The term “Christian” does not ever occur anywhere in the Gospel accounts; the Lord Jesus never used this term for anyone, nor did anyone else, in the four Gospels.
• In these accounts in the Gospel texts, not everyone who followed the Lord Jesus, nor all those who came to Him, nor all those who believed in His being able to heal them and perform miracles or were interested in listening to His teachings were called His disciples; but only those who in some manners were directly associated with the Lord have been called His disciples.
• Although, it has not been stated anywhere on what criteria some of those who followed Him around were called the disciples, but the term ‘disciples’ did not imply only the twelve Apostles. At one time the Lord sent out seventy disciples for ministry (Luke 10:1, 17); and we see that after the Lord’s resurrection, one hundred and twenty disciples, which included women and the members of the Lord’s immediate family, used to gather for prayers and supplications (Acts 1:14-15).
• The term “Apostles” has never been used in the Gospel accounts for anyone other than the twelve whom the Lord chose and called ‘Apostles’ from amongst His disciples. Implying it was a special, Lord ordained and conferred designation; and being a disciple of the Lord Jesus, did not by itself mean that every disciple was also an Apostle.
• In the four Gospels, neither the Apostles, nor the ‘disciples’ have ever been called ‘Christians’ by anyone; not by the crowds and general public, not by the Lord Jesus, and neither did the ‘disciples’ call themselves or each other by this name.
• And, very importantly, none of the family members of any of the Apostles or the disciples, ever receive any special status or consideration from anyone, because of being related to an Apostle or disciple of the Lord Jesus. The privileges that the Apostles and disciples had because of being associated with the Lord Jesus, because of having received special powers, e.g., of healing and casting out demons (Matthew 10:1; Luke 10:9, 17, 19), were never in any manner considered a reason for any special treatment of their family members – the privileged position and divine powers of these Apostles and disciples, did not confer any status or privileges upon their family members.
• Not even the immediate family members of the Lord Jesus were given any special status or privileges by anyone, not even by the Lord Jesus Himself (Mark 3:31-35). Even the Lord’s own family members were not called “Christians” in the Gospel accounts.
• The brothers amongst the Apostles, were called individually by the Lord; the calling of one did not automatically apply to the other; neither did the calling of a person by the Lord to be His disciple, make that person’s family to be the Lord’s disciples as well. All of this goes to show that having an association and a privileged position with the Lord Jesus was always an individual’s personal matter; it was never familial or hereditary.
• Neither did the Lord consider His immediate family members as special or privileged because of their relationship with Him; similarly, nor did those who came into this special privileged association with the Lord do so for their families. Neither did the common people consider the family members of people associated with the Lord or His Apostles and disciples as someone special or in any way different from the other people.

    We will carry on from here and see about how the term “Christian” came to be associated with those who were associated with the Lord Jesus, and its implications, in the next article.

Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Repenting of your sins, and asking the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily and sincerely, surrendering yourself to Him - is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life.  Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.

    सच्चे, वास्तविक पश्चाताप के प्रमाणों में से एक, बदला हुआ जीवन, पर विचार करते हुए, हमने देखा है कि पश्चातापी व्यक्ति को स्वेच्छा से अपने जीवन और व्यवहार में लाए गए इस परिवर्तन को, परमेश्वर द्वारा उसकी बुद्धि के नए किये जाने को, जी कर दिखाना है, उसके द्वारा परमेश्वर की महिमा करनी है। उस मसीही विश्वासी के लिए, जिस ने प्रभु को पूर्ण समर्पण करने तथा उसकी और उसके वचन की आज्ञाकारिता में जीवन व्यतीत करने, और अपने जीवन तथा व्यवहार के द्वारा परमेश्वर को महिमा देने का निर्णय लिया है, उसके इस विश्वास में कदम बढ़ाने तथा परमेश्वर के कहे को करने के लिए परमेश्वर ने तीन बहुत बड़ी आशीषें रख छोड़ी हैं। पहली, परमेश्वर उसके साथ एक प्रेमी पिता के समान रहना चाहता है। दूसरी, परमेश्वर उस व्यक्ति को सिद्ध बनाता और प्रत्येक भले कार्य के लिए भली-भान्ति तैयार करता है; उसे परिपक्व बनाता है कि वह मनुष्यों की चालाकियों द्वारा धोखा न खाने पाए। तीसरी, परमेश्वर उसे अपने पुत्र, प्रभु यीशु मसीह के स्वरूप और समानता में ढालना चाहता है। आज हम इन में से पहली आशीष के बारे में देखेंगे।

    परमेश्वर की पहली आशीष और मनसा है कि वह अपने प्रति समर्पित और आज्ञाकारी विश्वासियों के साथ पिता समान रहे। मसीही विश्वासी द्वारा अपने जीवन में लागू करने के लिए, 2 कुरिन्थियों 6:14-18 में कुछ परिवर्तनों की एक श्रृंखला दी गई है, और इन परिवर्तनों को जीवन में लागू करने का परिणाम परमेश्वर का उस विश्वासी के साथ पिता समान रहना बताया गया है; “अविश्वासियों के साथ असमान जूए में न जुतो, क्योंकि धामिर्कता और अधर्म का क्या मेल जोल? या ज्योति और अन्धकार की क्या संगति? और मसीह का बलियाल के साथ क्या लगाव? या विश्वासी के साथ अविश्वासी का क्या नाता? और मूरतों के साथ परमेश्वर के मन्दिर का क्या सम्बन्ध? क्योंकि हम तो जीवते परमेश्वर का मन्दिर हैं; जैसा परमेश्वर ने कहा है कि मैं उन में बसूंगा और उन में चला फिरा करूंगा; और मैं उन का परमेश्वर हूंगा, और वे मेरे लोग होंगे। इसलिये प्रभु कहता है, कि उन के बीच में से निकलो और अलग रहो; और अशुद्ध वस्तु को मत छूओ, तो मैं तुम्हें ग्रहण करूंगा। और तुम्हारा पिता हूंगा, और तुम मेरे बेटे और बेटियां होगे: यह सर्वशक्तिमान प्रभु परमेश्वर का वचन है।” परमेश्वर द्वारा दिए गए इस आश्वासन के आधार पर, फिर पौलुस आग्रह करता है, “सो हे प्यारो जब कि ये प्रतिज्ञाएं हमें मिली हैं, तो आओ, हम अपने आप को शरीर और आत्मा की सब मलिनता से शुद्ध करें, और परमेश्वर का भय रखते हुए पवित्रता को सिद्ध करें” (2 कुरिन्थियों 7:1)।

    इस खण्ड से दो बातें प्रकट हैं। पहली, यह खण्ड बहुत स्पष्ट रीति से इस आम, किन्तु बाइबल से असमर्थित धारणा का अन्त कर देता है कि एक मसीही विश्वासी, सँसार और अविश्वासियों के साथ सामाजिक और निकट रिश्तों को बनाए रखने के लिए, मसीही विश्वास की बातों के साथ समझौते कर सकता है। बाइबल कहीं भी यह नहीं कहती है कि मसीहियों को अविश्वासियों के प्रति बैर या विरोध की भावना और व्यवहार रखना चाहिए; हम अविश्वासियों के साथ बिना बैर या विरोध की भावना और व्यवहार रखे हुए, बिना अपने मसीही विश्वास के साथ कोई समझौता किये हुए, सामाजिक और अच्छे सम्बन्ध सदा बनाए रख सकते हैं। यहाँ पर पवित्र आत्मा पौलुस में होकर बारंबार यह आलंकारिक प्रश्न पूछता है कि विश्वासी के अविश्वासियों के साथ निकट सम्बन्ध, जिनके कारण विश्वास में समझौते की संभावना बन जाए, उनका क्या आधार हो सकता है? वह विश्वासियों से आग्रह करता है कि परमेश्वर द्वारा उनके जीवनों में लाए गए परिवर्तन के अनुरूप जीवन को जीएँ; सँसार के साथ किसी भी रीति से कोई समझौता नहीं करें, बल्कि उस से पृथक होकर रहें।

    दूसरी, एक बार फिर से हम पौलुस द्वारा 2 कुरिन्थियों 7:1 में विश्वासियों से किये गए आग्रह से देखते हैं कि मसीही विश्वासी को इस बात का एहसास करना है कि परमेश्वर ने उसके लिए और उसके अन्दर क्या कुछ किया है। और फिर उसके अनुसार उसे स्वयं ही पहल करके परमेश्वर जो परिवर्तन उसके जीवन में चाहता है, उन्हें लागू करना है; किन्तु परमेश्वर उन परिवर्तनों को लागू करने के लिए कभी उसे मजबूर या कोई ज़बरदस्ती नहीं करता है। परमेश्वर उसे बता देता है कि वह उस व्यक्ति और उसके जीवन से क्या चाहता है, और यह भी बता देता है कि परमेश्वर की आज्ञाकारिता, उसकी इच्छा और निर्देशों के अनुसार जीवन जीने के द्वारा उसे क्या लाभ होंगे; और फिर परमेश्वर प्रतीक्षा करता है कि वह विश्वासी उन परिवर्तनों को अपने जीवन में लागू करना आरम्भ करे। परमेश्वर का पवित्र आत्मा हमेशा उपलब्ध और तैयार रहता है कि जैसे ही वह विश्वासी परिवर्तन की इस प्रक्रिया को आरम्भ करे, उसे यह प्रक्रिया चाहे कितनी भी कठिन और भयावह क्यों न प्रतीत हो; किन्तु आरम्भ से लेकर परिवर्तन पूरे होने तक, उन में उस की सहायता और मार्गदर्शन करे। जब विश्वासी आज्ञा पालन करता है, उन परिवर्तनों को लागू करता है, परमेश्वर अपनी अलौकिक आशीषों और प्रतिफलों को उसे प्रदान करने के लिए उसकी प्रतीक्षा कर रहा होता है।

    ज़रा उस निरन्तर, 24 X 7, बिना किसी भी बाधा के, हमेशा सहज ही उपलब्ध, कभी समाप्त न होने वाले परमेश्वर के साथ सहभागिता रखने के आदर के बारे में कल्पना कीजिए, जिसमें आप परमेश्वर से निःसंकोच, बिना घबराए, कुछ भी, और सब कुछ जो आप के मन में है कह सकते हैं, और परमेश्वर एक बहुत लाड़ और प्रेम करने वाले पिता के समान बड़े धैर्य के साथ आप की सब बात ध्यान से सुनता रहता है, और फिर आप ने जो उसके साथ बांटा है उसके अनुसार जो भी करना और देना है उसके प्रावधान कर देता है। क्या यह महान विशेषाधिकार पृथ्वी की उन नाशमान बातों से कहीं अधिक बहुमूल्य नहीं होगा, जिन्हें हमारा स्वर्गीय परमेश्वर पिता चाहता है कि हम उन्हें छोड़ दें, कि इस आशीष को पा सकें?

    In considering the changed life being one of the evidences of true heartfelt repentance, we have seen that this voluntarily implemented change in life and behavior of the repentant person should through his actions, reflect the newness of the mind brought in him by God, and should glorify God. For a Christian Believer who has chosen to fully surrender himself to the Lord voluntarily, live in obedience to Him and His Word, and to glorify God through his life and behavior, God has kept three very great blessings for his stepping out in faith to do God’s bidding. Firstly, God wants to live and be with him like a loving Father. Secondly, God wants to make him complete and thoroughly prepared for every good work; make him mature so that he cannot be deceived by the trickeries of men. Thirdly, God wants to bring him into the form and image of His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ. Today we will look at the first of these blessings.

    The first blessing and desire of God is to live with the surrendered and obedient Believers as a Father. In 2 Corinthians 6:14-18 is given a series of changes that the Christian Believers should implement in their lives, and the net result of implementing these changes is God living with such Believers as their Father; “Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers. For what fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness? And what communion has light with darkness? And what accord has Christ with Belial? Or what part has a believer with an unbeliever? And what agreement has the temple of God with idols? For you are the temple of the living God. As God has said: "I will dwell in them And walk among them. I will be their God, And they shall be My people." Therefore "Come out from among them And be separate, says the Lord. Do not touch what is unclean, And I will receive you." "I will be a Father to you, And you shall be My sons and daughters, Says the Lord Almighty."” On the basis of this assurance from God, Paul then exhorts, “Therefore, having these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God” (2 Corinthians 7:1).

    There are two things evident from this passage. Firstly, this passage clearly puts and end to a popular but unBiblical notion, that a Christian Believer can mingle and compromise with the world, to maintain civil and cordial relations. Nowhere does the Bible speak of having animosity or antagonism towards the unbelievers; we can always be civil and cordial with the unbelievers without compromising on our faith to please the unbelievers. The Holy Spirit, through Paul here repeatedly asks the rhetorical question, on what grounds can a Believer have such close relationships with unbelievers, that bring up the possibility of compromising in faith? He exhorts the Believers to live according to the change brought by God in their lives; separate out and not compromise with the world and the people of the world in any manner.

    Secondly, once again, we see from Paul’s exhortation in 2 Corinthians 7:1, that it is the Christian Believer who has to come to the realization of what God has done in and for him. Then, he has to accordingly take the initiative and implement the changes that God wants done in his life; but God does not coerce or compel the Believer for carrying them out. God tells him what He wants from him and in his life, and also tells him the gains he will get by obeying God, living according to God’s desire and instructions; and then waits for the Believer to step up and start implementing the changes. God’s Holy Spirit is already in the Believer to help and guide him right through this process, from the moment the Believer decides to go through this process, however difficult or daunting or costly it may appear. When the Believer obeys, carries out the required changes, God is ready and waiting with the rewards that literally are ‘out of this world.’

    Imagine having a continual, 24 X 7 unhindered, readily available, unending access to God, being able to freely converse with Him for anything and everything on our heart and in our lives, while He, as a doting benevolent Father, patiently listens to all of whatever we have to say, and then makes the necessary arrangements and provisions for all that we have shared with Him. Wouldn’t the access to this heavenly privilege here on earth, be unimaginably more worthwhile than the things of this world that God desires His children to get away from?

    Just consider, in return for obeying Him and glorifying Him through our changed life, how much He has kept available for us; and this is just part one, there are two other blessings that we will consider in the next articles.

Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Repenting of your sins, and asking the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily and sincerely, surrendering yourself to Him - is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life.  Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.
